Delaware attorney general Beau Biden was admitted into a Texas hospital after an incident while on a family vacation. His Father, Vice President Joe Biden, is said to be in Houston with him. NBC's Janet Shamlian reports.
Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, the son of Vice President Joe Biden, underwent a "successful procedure" at a Houston hospital and will be discharged Thursday, the vice president says.
"Yesterday our son Beau underwent a successful procedure," the vice president and his wife Dr. Jill Biden said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. "He is in great shape and is going to be discharged tomorrow and heading home to Delaware. He will follow up with his local physicians in the coming weeks.
The younger Biden had been undergoing tests at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX after experiencing weakness and disorientation.
A spokesman for the Delaware Department of Justice said in a statement that Beau Biden spoke with other members of the office’s staff Wednesday afternoon about ongoing matters in the state.
NBC News reported earlier this week that he had a mass in his brain; he spent the night at the center after undergoing tests to rule out cancer.
The 44-year-old suffered a mild stroke in 2010.
The vice president and his wife traveled to Houston to be with their son during the testing. The vice president has cancelled three events slated for Thursday, including political fundraisers in Maine and Rhode Island.
