Bush to join Obama for wreath-laying at Tanzania bombing site

President Barack Obama will meet with his predecessor Tuesday in Tanzania -- some 8,000 miles from the White House.

Obama will appear with former president George W. Bush during a wreath-laying ceremony for victims of the 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Obama and his family are wrapping up a three-country trip around the African continent. Bush is traveling in Tanzania as part of a conference on women’s issues in Africa.

The two men are not expected to make remarks at the event, White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters.

On August 7, 1998, twin blasts at U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam left 224 dead, 11 at the Tanzania site.
