In his first major interview since his unsuccessful 2012 bid for White House, Mitt Romney likened being a presidential candidate to the bumpy and unpredictable path of a roller coaster.
“We were on a roller coaster, exciting and thrilling, ups and downs. But the ride ends," Romney told Fox News. "And then you get off. And it's not like, ‘Oh, can't we be on a roller coaster the rest of our life?’ It's like, no, the ride's over."
The pre-released clip is from an interview with Romney and his wife, Ann, set to air on “Fox News Sunday,” the first media either has done since the November 6 election.
The Romneys have kept a low-profile since their unsuccessful bid for the White House. Photos of the former Massachusetts governor running errands around his La Jolla, Calif., home have been about the only thing the public has seen of him since the fall.
One photo even surfaced of Romney riding a roller coaster with family at Disneyland.
“It is an adjustment, but it’s one I think we did well,” said Ann Romney. She added, “The good news is fortunately we like each other.”
This is not the only public appearance Romney will be making. He will make his first speech since the campaign ended at the Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington, D.C., in two weeks.

Paul Ryan was Romney's down fall !!!
Romneys big mouth taped during the 1% pep rally was the nail in the coffin...........
Yes, Myth Robme, the show IS over, the curtain has come down . . . and significantly more than 47% no longer care about anything you have to say . . . I'd be more interested in hearing how Ann's dancing pony is doing. But just a little.
.
FORWARD! :-)
For the interview Mitt Robme read prepared statements from a binder he brought with him. When he first opened the binder, his wife was the first to fall out.
.
Then the interview went on without further incident...with his wife sitting next to him with band-aid over her face.
.
The only regular resident of Mitt's binder now is his wife.
So he coasted to his defeat on a roller-coaster? Mitt is hipper than I thought.
On his Roller-Coaster... Mitt went straight to his spectacular defeat.
I like Mitt personally, he looks like a typical & clueless rich guy, almost comical, believing he is the savior without realizing he is the destroyer.
Blame Tea Party for your defeat, Mitt.
Stop your roller-coaster riding, it can kill you. U R not 15 anymore. Well, my argument will never prevail over Mitt ... if you have ever argued with your grandpa over the same thing.
A roller-Coaster huh? I would think He would liken it more to being nearly choked to death. Least by 47%.
And Palin was McCain's downfall. Their Presidential candidates are bad and their Vice Presidential candidates are disastrous.
Ann Romney here is really saying, 'I like that old kook's money.'
Mitt Romney was a LOUSY candidate (even Republicans didn't like him all that much) who pocked a LOUSY VP then ran a LOUSY convention then topped it off with a LOUSY campaign.
...that is, what I imagine a roller coaster would be like. I have a friend who owns Disneyland, you know.
Ryan wasn't the fall but it started the fall. He was the worst imo candidate he could have picked because of what he believes but it is the conservatives that should have been in an uproar. He is no conservative. He is radical right winger.
I have a Mormon friend and We were talking about Romney and he said he did not like him and would not vote for him, that's what most of my Republican friends said so there is no mystery as to why he could not Win, his business logic's were very negative and anyone that thought is was OK has poor ethics because someone lost money on those bankruptcies someone always does.
Sorry, Romney was perhaps the worse presidential candidate the GOP could muster for the fight. The fact that Romney was the cream that rose to the top during the GOP Primary Run is a very sad commentary for the GOP. When you manage to alienate Women, Blacks, Hispanics, Latinos, Gays, Teachers, and the Hotel Waiters in Boca Raton, you have managed to create the sequel to "Custer's Last Stand". One thing good came from Romney's pontification, the IRS has forced Swiss Bankers to release the names of Americans who hide taxable income in Switzerland.
And the most ridiculous part is, he didn't even want to be on the roller coaster! Was there ever another candidate in history who ran and didn't want the job?
Mittens.....never let it be said that you were your own worst enemy. Well, at least not while the rest of us are alive anyway. We don't care what you or your ditsy wife think about anything you moronic racist pigs.
Ah,the brainwashed kool-aid drinking masses. "Romney sucked! Obama,My man!" Obama! Obama! Forward! Forward! You dance, sing, gloat and rejoice of you defeat of Romney as Obummer tears this country apart right in front of your dumb noses. This communist, arrogant third-world style left wing dictator is killing this country from the inside out. He's gutting essential programs while giving away the store to criminals, illegals, and freeloaders. He's slamming this entire country in the a**s,and you all cheer him on thinking this is great. Romney is right about it being over. America's greatness is a thing of the past. Thanks to your boy Obama, It is over. America is toast. You all voted to destroy America. Be proud of yourselves. Enjoy the new USSA.
All our problems would have been solved on January 21st. I hope all you communist, socialist, communist lefties are happy. Now we still have problems.
Mittens would have made them all go away. Thanks!
Romney was Romney's downfall.
More likely death by a thousand nails in golden coffin riding on said roller coaster .
Still waiting to see those tax returns.
Pete-286, you and people like you are the exact reason that GNOP will soon be a footnote,if that much in the history of this country! If you actuly believe what you have written i have the deepest sympathy for you. It would appear that you and your other believer's have been in a deep trance for the last 12 years and are now just comming out of it. Pete guess what it's 2013,yea thats right! The President of the United States of America is not to be refered to as a "boy". Your 1950's mentality and others like you is the reason for the destruction of the 2 party system! I worked for over 50 years and served in vietnam, proudly I might add. My Social Security Check is NOT an entitlement,it's My RIGHT,you and other FREELOADERS OWE ME AND MY GENERATION,no get off your lazy a$$ and get to work, remember your generation owes mine BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!now get a job!
Romney's implementation of Romneycare and gun control as governor indicates he wasn't as far right as he had to pretend to be to get tea party support. When you have to parrot the far right agenda to get nominated even their hero Reagan couldn't get nominated today. Despite the rights insistance that having 100 million dollar offshore accounts wasn't a factor, I disagree. People expect their president to have higher standards.
seaskip "Paul Ryan was Romney's down fall !!!"
The welfare vote was Romney's downfall.
Obama won the low income group that includes welfare recipients by a net margin of 12.9 million votes, while Romney won the other 75% of voters by a net margin of 8 million votes (the ones that pay income taxes to support those on welfare). That resulted in Obama's net win by 4.9 million votes. SOURCE - N Y Times exit polls the day of the election.
It appears that Obama's strategy of increasing the number of people on welfare from about 30 million in 2008 to almost 47 million in 2012, and then having his campaign tell them that "Romney will take away your food stamps" was a winning strategy.
Of course, the $735 BILLION we spend on welfare each year (almost 70% of the Deficit) is bankrupting the country, but what does that matter when it comes to Obama using taxpayer funds to get reelected.
"Romney was perhaps the worse presidential candidate the GOP could muster for the fight."
With the exception of Huntsman -- he was the best they had. And that's the problem -- being better than Bachmann, Santorum, Pizza-Man, Gingrich, Perry, Trump and the rest of the clowns is setting the bar low.
You posters make me sick. It shows why America is so screwed up. You spend so much of your posts insulting people, when it's obvious that you haven't done your homework. When you come to election time, you're actually supposed to find out about each candidate on your own, not listen to some slick talking lawyer fill your head with absolute lies. First, you insult Mitt Romney because he's rich. He's rich, because he followed the American dream, and made all his money on his own. His daddy was wealthy, and when he died, Mitt turned ALL daddy's money to charity, kept none of it for his own. He continued to donate a portion of his personal income to charity every year. If you read the actual reports of his company, you would understand that the companies that hired him were ALREADY about to go bankrupt - that's why they went to him. He successfully restored many companies, some very famous ones. Yes, some went overseas, but it was that, or go out of business. The United States has become too expensive to have a profitable company in, in some industries. Environmental regulations, state and city taxes, along with federal taxes, have caused many companies to skedaddle. I voted for him, because I felt he could get America back on it's financial feet - he has the knowledge on how to do that. Naturally, I don't agree with everything he was running for, but I never found ONE candidate that I agreed with entirely. I was looking at the priorities.
Then I checked on Obama. He came from a state loaded with crooked politicians (the most politicians locked up for criminal behavior in office). The entire state was in financial ruin. Then I read about the state's congressional building that was in need of repairs. It was not repaired, it was RESTORED, back to original, with high - priced carpenters, carvers, replacing all the expensive hand - carved mouldings, desks, cornices, woodwork - all with the same, expensive solid wood (while everyone else is using plywoods). It almost broke the state to pay the bill. Don't take my word for it, look it up. He was a civil rights lawyer. You don't become one for the money, you become one because of your beliefs. I'm not against that, I just felt he might be inclined to lean towards the poor, the minorities, instead of being fair and just to ALL citizens. I was right. He's pushing bills for gays, minorities, illegals, and seems to have a hate - on for the "rich guy". If you would stop bashing the GOP, and look at what Obama has actually promised during his first campaign, and see the actual progress he has made, you would understand what a poor leader he is. One of the main duties of the President, is to LEAD congress, which so far, all he does is pick fights with the GOP, and blame them for everything that has gone wrong. He's not tactful, open to compromise - he's even said in one of his speeches, "I'm not budging an inch on this issue". Another way to say that is, "it's my way or the highway". That's not leading. When he should be in Congress or the Senate, discussing his side of the issues, he's out playing golf, vacationing with his family in foreign countries (he even took his family to his "roots", at our expense), out on the road, still "campaigning" - getting the citizens to agree with HIS side of every issue, or rubbing elbows with Hollywood. His swearing in requires him to state, "I, Barack Obama, do solemnly swear, to uphold, preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States of America, so help me God". He is allowing illegal aliens to stay in the US, WITH FREE BENEFITS, which is NOT protecting our borders; he makes executive decisions when Congress is NOT legally in recess; he makes decisions to give black kids special treatment in schools, instead of EVERY kid; he has NOT had a budget since he was in office (the one that WAS done when he was first in office, was done by Bush). He forced "Obamacare" on us, instead of upgrading Medicaid, giving us TWO expensive entitlement programs for the people not eligible for Medicare (which, by the way, WE PAY FOR out of every paycheck). He spends like there's no limit to how much money we have. He has not yet acted like a President. He should be impeached.
The American dream, was to come to this country, work hard, advance in your life, and maybe even become rich. Now, so many talk of rich people like they're filth. Just like every walk of life, there are good people, and there are bad people. You can't judge rich people by the ones that make the news for breaking the law. I know many rich people - the ones closest to me run programs to help teens get away from drugs, alcohol and bad schooling. They re - teach them to learn, get their grades up, and go on to good colleges. People don't seem to want to be Americans any more - they want to be "African - Americans", or "Hispanic Americans", or whatever. President Roosevelt said it very plainly once, "What America does not need is hyphenated Americans. It divides the country, and will surely be the demise of this great nation". I can sure see the division. There is nothing wrong with having a religion one believes in, but there is when they must change their Bibles, belief, to accommodate society. If people want to marry their own sex, they should still have the same rights I do. What is missing, is the Constitution and Bill of Rights were made for ALL citizens of the United States, no matter WHAT they believe. I can disagree with homosexuality because of my religious beliefs, but I can't say they don't have the same rights as American citizens.
I actually liked him until he said the 47% thing. Until then I believed that he was a decent guy who is allowing himself to be led by the tea party rhetoric.
Roy,
Where is my welfare if he is giving out free stuff. I am one of those 12.9 million people that voted for the President. I love how you uninformed people throw out that BS with no proof. Tell me some names of people receiving welfare that voted for him with the proof. Get over it, your man lost.
Anyone that does not pay taxes and is dependent a government check should not be allowed to vote. The nation would be better off. It's like letting the kids vote to eat Oreo cookies and ice cream every day for dinner.
ahh... Robme gives us his first real interview. I bet he would be willing to show us his taxes now.
Republicants... take notice. Choose a better/moderate candidate the next time around. One that doesn't flip flop on every single issue known to man and follows the lead of the teaparty. If you don't learn from this mistake, say goodbye to the 2016 race too.
Glen 728
So... what you are saying is, the elderly, that worked their entire lives, paid their bills, contributed to social security/medicare and now live off this money are not allowed to vote? I think not.
Roy Wilson:
RE: your post #1.23
The only thing which may be larger than your ego is your vastly exergerated statements of bull sh*t!
Not that we care, in fact we all appreciate and readily see that your side of the political debate is rather fading into history, just like you and the GNOP candidates who spout the same garbage!
Sorry Daniel, Perhaps I should have used the term "buddy" instead of "boy". I forgot that someone might make this into a race thing. I assure you, It isn't. First and formost Daniel, I have deep respect for your service, and to all of those who serve in our military. Especially those who served in Vietnam. I am also from that time. I am not some lazy kid. I love this country and I have never freeloaded. And I have "gotten off my ass"and worked almost from the time I could walk. Your speech is confusing. You seem to contradict yourself when you use the term "freeloaders" since those are the very people Obama and his ilk support. With our hard earned money. Yes,yours and mine. Our social security is something we have both worked and paid for. But many people are here legally and illegally, that never contributed anything whatsoever to this country, and they are getting social security too. And food stamps. That you and I pay for. That doesn't piss you off? A man like you who worked his whole life and risked everything for this country? You fought and watched others die so this president can let others mooch off your work and sacrifice and the souls of those who never made it home?? So this president can gut our military just because he isn't getting his way? It does me. Good day, sir. And again, thank you for your service to our country.
Romney was for this one day, against it the next. He would tell you something to your face, then say another thing the next day. When he said the 47% thing he turned around and said he did it for the money. Yep! he was like a "etch a sketch" You toss it up and it turns blank.
you all have to remember that ANNE participated in the downfall her out spoken position on women's right, the quaint little statement 'oh those folks' and last but not least..with people struggling to buy chesp clothes since that is what they can afford and ANNE.. on a morning talk show on Faux the host asked her about her TEE shirt,,, 'oh this, I had it made, it was only a thousand dollars..
People do your homework -
Mitt Romney is a decent man - his records are there to see - his sons are never been in trouble - He is rich and made it the old fashion american way (working)- Thats why you did not voted for him.
He was the last hope for America. I am very sorry for my children and grandchildren!
Well said Bill-328037, well said. Our country has become very catty not unlike a bunch of 13 year old middle school children.
With all of the liberal stupidity in these comments I see here, I just have to remind the stupid masses that voted for Obama...
He still has more money than you do.
He cared enough to try to help America.
He put himself and his life on hold to try and do what was right.
It was YOU idiots that voted for the welfare check and the free phones. Now the country is losing millions of jobs again.
4 Americans have been murdered and Obama hasn't been held accountable.
Terrorist groups have received high tech weapons from the US and Obama hasn't been prosecuted.
Drug cartels have received assault rifles from the US government, yet Obama and Eric Holder sweep it under the rug.
Does this mean that Obama can sell nukes to Iraq and North Korea before you stupid fools realize what is going on or do we have to have another civil war to weed you retards out of the population?
Seriously, what is it going to take for you people to wake up and see what his administration is doing?
Funny how an election turns out when the majority get to vote... Those states, like Florida that made it harder for citizens to vote only angered people, which resulted in a loss for the GOP...
Truly, I'm bored of seeing Romney's smug/smirk face...
Bill,
Very well said. Liberals don't want to understand that hard work can still be rewarded, just give me something. I was not enamored with Mr. Romney the candidate but as an individual and what he has done in his life there is no comparison between him and who currently resides in the whitehouse.
The Repubs need a more centered candidate who is not freaking bat Sh"t crazy with religious ideology or so freaking wealthy that they are completely outta touch with the common everyday person.
Still scared of Romney I see. If you don't care about him or don't like him, then stop talking about it. He isn't the President, never will be the President, and why do you care so much now? Get over it! Leave Romney alone. By continually talking about him, you provide credibility to him, something I don't think you want to do. Personally, we should all be more interested in what happens when we stand at the Judgement Bar of Christ at the last day. Romney may not have to worry so much about that, but what about you?
Romney ran the worst campaign in modern history; he listened to the Karl Rove clan, who did not talk to the American people, instead they talked at them; name one thing that you remember Romney saying during the campaign, name one solution they proposed, name one comment on the wars we are fighting, name one criticism of the Fed Reserve monopoly of American monetary policy, they blew it so bad , and worse of all they still do not realize their mistakes.
I see a lot of comments about 'Romney being the cream that rose to the top' of the republican party or 'the best that they could muster', etc. Please remember that all the smart and better candidates pulled back and are waiting in the wings for 2016. Most of the repubs believed Obama would win again anyway, so they didn't waste a campaign on a losing fight that would tarnish their name.
There will be a major fight in 2016 and the American people better be ready for it if they want Hillary in the White House.
I hear both sides here trying to color the other with the 'extremist' brush but the truth is the huge majority of Americans are somewhere near the middle. Both sides need to remember that and the one that doesn't will lose.
Roller coaster ride huh?....If he had won...it would be straight down to hell for the nation!
mitt and barry...how's the two party system working for ya'...it's like ride'n a dam ferris wheel...with two drunk retards...
I marvel at the naive bull@!$%# being flung around by all these right wing, fascist fools. This idea that Romney worked so hard to get where he is is just pure fantasy. His father was a very rich and powerful man with tons of influence as well as wealth. Romney went to all the private prep schools and certainly never had to worry about where his next meal was coming from.
And when it came time to serve his country in a war that he supported, what did Romney do? He got his draft exemption as a "religious missionary" and took off for that backward, third world country of France, where he bicycled around the Chateau country handing out Mormon religious propaganda. I guess he didn't feel like "putting his life on hold to do the right thing" just then.
And when he came back he was launched into a life of further wealth, comfort and influence where he became a predatory, "vulture capitalist" (in the words of his fellow republikans) and ended up destroying the jobs and lives of the people who did something Romney never would do: go to work every day, punch a time clock and pay the taxes that Romney evaded.
All these right wing screamers and chest thumpers need to find a far better man to hold up as an example of their so called "American principles". When it comes to entitlements Romney has lived his life swimming in them. A liar and coward Romney couldn't hold a candle to Obama's character.
Here's the thing that I don't think many of you Romney supporters understand. This country is not full of "FREELOADERS" as you love to throw around. Yes we have a lot of people on public assistance right now. I will not deny that. But you guys are not seeing the large picture. These people didn't just quit their jobs and apply for food stamps. They didn't just decide they wanted to be in the bottom percent (47% if we go by Mitt's comments) Most were hard working, tax paying employees until they were laid off and I'm sorry but the hemorrhaging of businesses started long before Obama ever took office. These are people who were laid off when companies stole 401K's and shut down, when companies shipped their jobs overseas. When companies decided rather than pay Americans a decent wage they would rather pay people in third world countries pennies. That rather than pay a full time employee for medical coverage they will keep everyone part time. These are just people trying to survive the hand they were dealt in a messed up economy. All this was happening before Obama, under the great Bush administration. Before Obama ever took office this country was drowning in debt, banks were on the verge of collapsing and homes were being lost so fast and furiously it made all of our heads spin. I should know. I was one of them. I rented my home and still found myself on the street when my landlord stopped paying the mortgage on the home he owned. Instead he pocketed my rent money concealed the fact that the home was in foreclosure and left me in a rut when the bank came a knocking on my door. Disgraceful! As for the subject of illegals. I'm sorry but that falls flat too. You can't claim on one hand that they are lazy looking for handouts and in the other scream they are stealing all the jobs. From what I've experienced most illegals come here WANTING to work. Wanting to work so bad and provide a living for their families that the do jobs we as American citizens look down upon. You can't say they don't want to work but then deny them the opportunity to do so by threatening them with deportation if they reveal their illegal status. They can't get a job so they make their own but you still deny them that. Last I checked this country was built on the backs of immigrants and now you say to hell with that go back to your country. That is a mentality that people can't get behind which is why Romney and his ilk lost the election. We're not freeloaders. We're Americans trying to take back our country and make it what it once was. A great nation.
ex-mi-soldier "Roy, Where is my welfare if he is giving out free stuff. I am one of those 12.9 million people that voted for the President. I love how you uninformed people throw out that BS with no proof."
You misread my Post. The total vote for Obama about 65.9 million votes, vs almost 61 million for Romney. I was addressing the huge disparity favoring Obama from the low income group that included welfare recipients. I quoted my source - The N Y Times exit polls. Here are the figures;
Total votes for Obama in low Income group averaging under $30,000 (includes welfare recipients but excludes ineligible seniors ) = 22.3 Million.
Total votes for Romney from this low Income group = 9.4 million. Net margin for Obama among group getting welfare = 12.9 million votes.
Total votes for Obama in the balance of the election (75% of voters) who generally pay income taxes = 43.6 million.
Total votes for Romney from this group = 51.6 million - for a net margin for Romney from income tax paying voters of 8 million votes.
The actual winning vote margin for Obama was the net difference of 4.9 million votes (12.9 - 8).
Like I said - Obama's win was attributable to the low income group, most of whom are part of the 47 million that get welfare.
Roy, now that's a winning message.......
Still in the 'angry' stage of grief?
I can see it's going to be a long, long time (if at all) before Republicans accept defeat.
Roy, I think it's 47 million that don't pay federal income tax. Don't get ahead of yourself.
Or, were you thinking of those getting corporate welfare too?
Peopl, people. Who brought about welfare, medicaid, who outsources all our jobs/? Look inside you closet, look at your dishes, spoons, cups. and now even food. Almost 75% of everyhing you own and eat is coming from other countries. Even you talk to companies about the technical properties there are out of the country people you are talking to. I know becasause I ask. Some of them won't even tell you where they are working from. Ya'll this has been going on for long dang time before O'bama got in the char. So Mitt lost, get over it! Just the arrogant look on his face turned me off and the 47% comment nailed his cofin. And arrogance told him only to write and acceptance speak and arrogance lost the election and outsourcing jobs. He earned his money by giving jobs to cheap labor out of the country. When the election was going on I said to myself Let God's will be done. Whether you believe in God or not. He allowed this to happen. So people just pray that the economy gets better and pray for one another. The saved and unsaved, believers and unbelievers. Some don't believe it but, we are one people, Red, Yellow, Black, Brown and White. It don't matter what color you are as long as you work together for the good of the people. That is my opinion. It matters to God if no one else.
When I think of Romney and his exaggerations and lies I can only say liar liar pants on fire.
His father's money was not exactly donated to charities for all but rather about 75% went to the Mormon church to be doled out as the elders saw fit. The rest went into offshore bank accounts in order to avoid taxation. Everytime he opened up his mouth a lie came out, or an insult. he was not the least bit presidential. First clue was when he jumped the gun and made his infamous trip to the middle east to try his hand at mediation ( that was altready in the works ), and hopefully he didn't screw that up too badly.
IF this is the best that the GOP had to offer then they are in a lot of trouble.
I cannot say that the demoncrats are any better than the reflubicans, what I can say is that both parties need to start listening to the wants and the NEEDS of the AMERICAN people!
Huffington Post:
The choice to not take the [charitable] deduction allowed Romney to inflate his tax rate to 14.1 percent. The difference between his charitable giving of more than $4 million and his claimed deductions of $2.25 million increased his tax bill by several hundred thousand dollars, as he paid taxes he didn't have to on nearly two million dollars.
Luckily for Romney, after the election he can recoup that money. If the American people reject him at the polls in November -- and even if they don't -- Romney would be fully within his legal rights to file an amended return, requiring the Treasury to cut him a substantial check.
"It's noble," said Boston College tax law professor Brian Galle of Romney's generous, if temporary, gift to the Treasury. "It also doesn't prevent him from taking that deduction in an amended return if he were to file it after the election."
Romney has asserted that he does not believe in paying more taxes than required.
"I don't pay more than are legally due and frankly if I had paid more than are legally due I don't think I'd be qualified to become president," Romney has previously said. "I'd think people would want me to follow the law and pay only what the tax code requires."
UPDATE: 9/22/12 10:55 a.m. -- Where did Romney's charitable giving wind up? It's not entirely clear. According to the tax returns, he gave $1,115,485 to the Mormon church and $214,516 to the Tyler Charitable Foundation, which is Romney's own tax-exempt nonprofit he established. His returns also list a gift of $920,573 in "noncash contributions," though it doesn't specify where those went. Noncash contributions are typically gifts of stock. By shifting the stock from his own account to his nonprofit, he is able to avoid paying taxes on the unrealized capital gains, and is also allowed to write off the [total] value of the gift. The return isn't clear as to where the remaining roughly $2 million of charity went -- the gift he hasn't yet taken a deduction for -- but a likely candidate is his Tyler Charitable Foundation.
In 2010, Romney avoided a tax hit by giving to Tyler stock in Senesta, a company with a factory in Illinois that Bain Capital is closing and moving to China, costing the town 170 jobs.
Oh my, how the rich get richer.......
Luckily the last election saved the American people from the person that knows how to make and invest money, for the person that only knows how to spend money. To think this country could have elected someone that actually understands how the economy works, it would have been devastating. We are so much better off mired in the worst recovery in US history, and racking up massive debt that will eventually lead this nation to financial collapse. Woohoo for us.
TO: Pete-286 who wrote:
How is President Obama "tearing this country apart" in your opinion, and what "free loading program", are you referring to "is essential" to you? Perhaps the billion dollar oil subsidies to the mega-billion dollar oil companies who spend our money while they raise gas prices is an "essential program" to you?
How can the President be "giving away the store" when you haven't made any investment in any "store"? How would Republicans expect to have any kind of "program" when their whole plan is to not pay taxes and not have any "government programs"? But, of course you think one should be there for you, but no one else. You can't take out what you don't put in.
Right wing wackos and their empty allegations make me wanna puke.
Thank you Bill 328037 for your common sense post. I can't understand all the liberal haters. Obama won fair and square. Romney conceded, congratulated the President and has moved on. Why the hate and vitriol? If you don't like someone, don't vote for them.
The country is still waiting for the President to start leading. Another quarter of tepid economic growth. Unemployment still hovering around 8%. Annual deficit over 1 Trillion $. Lots of talk on immigration and gays, but nothing actually done.
Please understand in the 2014 midterms, you won't have Bush to blame anymore.
Please understand VP Biden, that in 2016, you won't have Bush to blame anymore.
Something positive has to get done. Democrats have two of the 3 branches, please show us that you can move the nation forward.
jimmyjames wrote that the Repubs really didn't like Mitt and believed President Obama would win anyway, so they saved their money for 2016 and didn't want to tarnish their image. I think I got all that right.
Now, not to spoil your premise Jimmy, but am I hearing you say that the Koch Brothers and the Adelsons of the world spent half a billion dollars on a candidate they didn't like and didn't expect to win? I doubt those Billionaires got their money with deals like that. And as for "not wanting to tarnish their image", I can't believe you watched or listened to much of the almost year-long campaigns. The Republicans couldn't have done more to tarnish their image than if they had scripted it out that way. The fact that many Repubs would support what your post says is the VERY reason your party is flushing itself down the toilet.
You still, literally, do not get it. Your philosophies, strategies, and candidates lack any connection to the America of 2013. Now, I understand and accept that you and your Repub cohorts will simply say something like "well, then I don't want to live in 2013 America!", and you do have that choice. Where would you like to go to live? I will buy you a one-way ticket.

We've already felt the effects of Republicans' idea of how to run the United States Economy should be run, and the GOP f-uped everything so badly we're still trying to recover.
What's worse is, Republican politicians are so stupid they're working against the American Economy and against the American People.

President Obama serves the American People, NOT the Republican Party.
It is interesting many of you nicknamed him "Robme" when it is Obama who is the thief and fiscally irresponsible.

A majority didn't want to lose their handouts. There is a difference between handout and aid. Many of the low income did vote for status quo or worse by casting their ballot for Obama.
Why are ILLEGAL immigrants protesting with signs "Don't court us and then forget us". Did they vote for Obama? Can you say fraud? This is a slap in the face to those immigrants who went through the legal process of obtaining citizenship.

You're confused. It's 47% that do not pay federal income taxes.
It's 47 million people that get welfare - up from only about 30 million in 2008.

Roy,
It's actually 4.3 million on welfare......

So now, it's a no-lose for Obama. If the economy takes off, he'll get the credit. If the economy falters, he'll blame Republicans, Republicans will blame him, and in the end, everyone will get tired of the arguments and blame the Republicans (remember the re-election despite the economy).
Obama still holds the cards. Republicans want tax reform (and lower rates...haha) and they can't get it without Obama and Democrats.
Meanwhile, we'll slog along, with Republicans getting the blame for their intransigence.
This is about the only statement that I could extract from your post that made any sense. You really need to take a remedial math course, dude!
"low income group that includes welfare recipients" - hmmm, that group also includes (obviously) the unemployed. At the time of the Nov, 2012 election, unemployment rate was about 8%. There are approximately 150M workers in the US labor force, so about 12M were out of work.
And there you have it: it wasn't welfare recipients voting for Obama - it was out of work people voting for the party that didn't put them out of work!
StoptheCannibals-2908428 "Roy, It's actually 4.3 million on welfare......"
I think most people would consider food stamps a form of welfare - and your source says it is 46.7 million people. I think that makes my figure of 'about 47 million' pretty accurate.
Thanks for the link though.
Mitt Romney was just a terrible candidate. His roller coaster ride started with the out of touch 47% comment.
The Tea Movement pushed Ryan on Romney, what a mistake, the rest is history !!!
eh-oh, there might be trouble in paradise.
Yeah..."we like each other"... AND we have 200 million socked away in the Caymans and Bermuda.
"Mitt? Oh, he's likable enough."
There are so many reasons Mitt wasn't suitable and one of them was where he stored his money and another was that he didn't tell us exactly where he got it, how much he had. We can't have our president investing in foreign enterprises and making money and keeping it elsewhere. How American is that?
kitlin, Romeny investing in the Cayman Islands is like Pete Rose betting against the home team, and we all know what that got Pete! 'Nuff said!
Rose has never admitted to placing wagers on his team that nonsense.
Lets see............who do we want running the economy? Someone who is smart enough to sock $200,000,000 away in the Cayman's or someone who blows taxpayer money on bankrupt green companies.
Glen 728 the only people I know who don't pay taxes are Robme's Corp "people". They're destroying America with their welfare abuse! Get corp farms, oil cos, ALL big business OFF the Gov dole NOW!!!! Close the loop holes that allow wealthy to cheat Uncle Sam and that'll go a long way toward repairing America's rotting core and standing in the World.
Dixie....
GE is up in NY, you know....liberal bastion of stupidity...
They don't pay any taxes either....so where's your argument on that?
Glen you are making too much sense. Liberals get confused when people make sense!
Our country is mired in the worst recovery in US history, and amassing debt that will eventually lead to our nation to bankruptcy. But at least the nation has not been on a roller coaster since we elected Obama. Nope, this country has been on a steady trajectory straight to the bottom since Obama took office.
Republicans' latent "support" of Romney after he gave into the RWNJs, and other Republicans like Newt Gingrich helped sink Romney, not to mention Romney's refusal to produce his tax returns, and then Republicans' announcement that Romney had already "won" after the first presidential debate.
Then there was the 47%er thing, which let people know for sure that Romney was saying one thing to American People, and something else to his supporters. We call that being a "phoney".
It was the perfect storm for Mitt Romney, lucky for us.
TO: Glen 728 who wrote:
Since when did "tax dodgers" and people who invest overseas instead of investing at home become "American heros".
How much more backwards could the Republican Party be who would celebrate someone for investing in other countries and not in the United States?
The American People made the right choice: President Obama who is an honest man, and NOT Mitt Robme, a tax cheat and potential felon.
Nawww, you know, you just can't fix stupid!
Take Romney... 20% across the board tax cuts AGAIN! That's $5T in lost revenue over 10 years. $200B additional per year to upgrade the Navy fleet. That's $2T over 10 years. And yet, "I will not sign one thing that would increase the deficit!" So that's $700B per year to make up and no details about how to balance it. How? Well, just wait 'til I am elected! No, thanks!
Take Ryan... famous for his "balanced budget" proposal in Congress. Riiiight! Except, when it was examined, it became a national debt even higher than Obama's in 10 years! The budget wasn't balanced until 2038!!! Then the budget would balance... 30 years from now!
Sorry, the Republican chances for the last presidential election were killed by Republican stupidity! and the unwillingness of American voters to buy into that stupidity!
jp120741- LOL! So being based in a Blue State makes the Corp a Lib one? Hmmm interesting assumption, please elaborate on how you come to that conclusion. But before you do please do some fact checking as I easily found this info for GE contributions to the race for Pres...seems GE is a GOPer Corp-

And who in their right mind would want a President who steals jobs from Americans, sends them to China or wherever cheap labor prisons exist, invests those stolen job profits in the Caymans or anywhere but America?? Then we have Angry Mitch McConnell and Bonehead orange face Boehmer being the one term obstructionist a-holes they've been since 2008 (jealous children afraid they'll lose they're stolen tax payer money to support their enrichme self-serving cronies). Pigotry you go girl!! I'm laughing alot reading this board today. Rush must be having an oxycontin/moron hail mary as he reads these comments. Job losses started during Clinton. Remember that little thing called NAFTA that he signed while Monica was under his desk? China and India have been the focus of American outsourced jobs since then. If you're going to blame someone, blame the right person.
Lovely(I bet) Lady,
The biggest liar that has ever resided in the whitehouse is in there right now. When you pathetic libs call someone a liar please listen to teleprompter in chief with his dandies. Get a clue, sheep.
obama's way to busy...get'n gay people married...and trashing the economy...
jp.........
In truth NAFTA was signed by G.H.W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexican President Carlos Salinas in Dec. of 1998. It then had to be ratified by the signature nations legislatures or parliaments. It also had nothing to do with either China or India.
If you're going to call someone stupid, know what you're talking about to keep from looking stupid yourself.
Save us Obi Wan Obama, you're our only hope.
Same old themes from the republs here. "Romney lost because Obama got votes from freeloaders". Its a fixation rooted in misinformation and for some , racism. Here are the facts; 10% of welfare spending goes to non working poor. Of those, we include seriously disabled, the blind and other who truely can not work . Admittedly, there is fraud going on with the remainder which we all agree should be stopped.
Unfortunately, the conservative echo chamber gives the impression that half the country is working to support the other half. Well if you believe social security, medicare, vet care and similiar programs are hand outs, then you and Mitt see eye to eye and that is why he lost.

worst candidate EVER.
Worst candidate ever for the worst party ever. It's not like the GOP had anyone better to offer.
Along with being one of the worst candidates of all times he was one of the most dishonest candidate of all times. Every candidate stretches the truth but Romney flat out lied day after day after day on issue after issue after issue.
Jon Huntsman... and that's it.
Its cute that people who don't even know the Amendments think they're qualified to judge Presidential candidates.
and for the record, I voted for Obama.
The only flat out liar I see, Charlie, is the one in the White House.
I actually liked John Huntsman...I kinda wished he would fail the primaries because he could have really hurt the President re-election bid in the general election. I think the GOP made the biggest mistake by counting him out...he would have played out a lot stronger and more moderate than Big Mitt....and would not have been etching or flip-flopping all over the place.
"The only flat out liar I see, Charlie, is the one in the White House."
I thought Romney was on the Cayman Islands !!!
Hows the loopholes working for you Mitt ???
Loopholes work fine for him....
How do you like paying more for health insurance now? Where's that low-cost insurance?
Where's the "guaranteed-to-never-run-out" fund for Obamacare that is already half gone?
Where is the replacement money for Social Security?
Obama promised to create jobs...So why are we losing another 302,000 with sequestration?
Is this too much truth for you? I can stop now to let your brain stop overloading on reality.
Ask Obama, he has them too.
Three months later and he is still the loser. Thankfully.
I have to agree with both of you. He was the worst candidate of all the desfunctional creeps the Republicans garnered in their campaign for the White house. Hopefully we will never have to hear from him again. On the other hand, there isn't any other candidates in their party that are worth holding the office of dog catcher. They all are creeps.
I thought the repub candidates shows were the worst comedy acts ever on TV. I am still laughing at Perry forgetting what he had to say and then forgetting to look at his notes and he could have been President.....We learned on President too late they have nothing to offer....Bush....But then he was not elected either tme...
Still scared of Romney, I see.
Well at least he never had to show us his tax returns.
And your messiah has never shown you anything about his past. What a hyprocrite you are, but that is what we have come to expect.
True...If all Presidents have always had ALL of their records under the public view, why is it that Obama has NONE to show? Why does everyone else have to show anything when Obama shows nothing?
I'm hoping that a hacker can open it up somewhere and show us a foreign exchange student. Then we can ban the Democratic Party, Shoot the offenders as traitors, and have a safer America for everyone.
AJV1...Obama has never worked a day in his life...You can't have a tax return when you mooch off everyone else.
jp12741....your butt-hole is speaking when mouth-hole should be....saying anything just to get a rise out of people is the same ridiculous ploy that the GOP used all last year and it did not work. same ole stink different delivery person...no tips for you!
They are one and the same.
Hey if you righties want to see all your favorite losers, past and present, maybe watch cpac,I hear the biggest and latest loser,Romney will be there. Also last elections losers,Mcaine,Palin,,,lmao,,,real losers.
Hahahahahahaha
After all is said and done,Obama is Potus.
So suck it up rightards, after all we had to suffer with eight years of a guy who couldent put two words together,to complete a sentence.
Hillary 2016
The best candidate you guys had was Huntsman, but your Tea Movement destroyed him !!!
Huntsman had something 21st century Republicans don't like --- a working brain.
John Huntsman had a good chance of winning. But the GOP has a recent track record of doubling down on stupid for some reason.
I think it's agreed that Huntsman was the only republikan candidate who could walk and chew gum at the same time. And as Charlie has pointed out, he had a snowball's chance in hell of getting the nomination. It is just wonderful to watch as the party tears itself apart after their latest major @!$%# up, but it is disgraceful that they have decided to drag down the rest of the country with them.
Bulletman, I am as far left as they come but really your post is out of line and the kind of thing that prevents us from moving forward with intelligent reasoning and discussion.
You sound like a five year old in the school playground-"na na na na na na, my team won and your team is big poopy head"
What a stupid man. Again, Willard shows what one of his main weakness is: the inability to use language. Roller coaster rides go up and down. Mitt's bid for presidency only went DOWN.
Who the hell is Mitt Romney?
He's that Mormon that has wanted to be President for the past twenty or so years.
I thought he was the guy that did the Summer's Eve commercials. No, wait, sorry, I just thought that because he's a giant douche.
dusty....your memory is bit dusty...
Mitt has wanted to be US president the day he was born (on March 12, 47 BCE)?
Ken Romney? He's Barbie's husband.
His wife didn't help him at all. When she screamed we like you women! And I am worried about MItts mental health. At least she likes him warts and all. They just gave me the opinion that they were spoiled rich kids who were trying to fit in but didn't even know what to do to fit in. Buy a 3 pack of shirts at Costco and iron them yourself? What imaginations!
He BUILT that! - Ann
Still scared of Romney, I see.
Huntsman was the real, deal,,,Romney, was the real loser,,,hahahahahahaha
I agree, Huntsman was the real deal but the tea people didn't like him because he hated tea !
Unlike Romney, Huntsman supported the civil rights of all Americans......and thus he was unelectable within the GOP.
Keep up the good work, Teabagging Birthers, and by 2016 the Republican Party will go the way of the Whigs.
Roller coaster? Since when do roller coasters only go downhill? At no point in the entire campaign process did Mitt romney stand a chance of winning.
About as intelligent as his other comments during the campaign. This is why he lost.
Between Mitt and Ann it is hard to decide who is dumb and who is dumber. They sure did find each other, LOL...
Mitt - Ann - = Two very lost causes who found each other. So romantic teeheehee
Wow. I actually feel like, dumber now having read his like, near-incoherent middle-school blathering. This guy was a candidate for President? I would be embarrassed as a Republican that this was the very best, most electable person my party could produce.
And yes, I suppose his campaign was like a roller coaster ride. But only if the roller coaster smashes into a brick wall midway through.
Mitt is going to be one of the speakers at CEPAC this year along with Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, Allen West Newt Gingrich, to mention a few. This could be the biggest collection of losers since the 50th reunion of the 1962 New York Mets.
CEPAC the losers convetion wher useless Repubs go to lick their wounds and get a pep talk about the bright future that they have...
"And who will bother to listen"? He's been memorizing it in his MittyMirror since November 6th!! Bet he flubs it but his audience of losers will cheer him on - you go Mittens! And yes, we Mass people cringed even thinking he "might" win, but all along knowing he wouldn't. He lost all the states he lived in, Michigan, Massachusetts, Utah plus his vacation spot in NH where he may have spent some of his millions. The other fool, Lyin Ryan lost Wisconsin - ya think that may have told us something?!
What was truly funny about Sir Willard of EtchASketch's campaign was that in Massachusetts, all the other Republican candidates including ex-senator Scott Brown distanced themselves from him as if he were Typhoid Mary. They called themselves Independents. Brown's spokecreatures said that Romney wasn't speaking at any of SB's events because the "Governor" was "too busy." It was quite yummy to see both of them go down in flames.
Funny -- Mitt lost the state where he was governor by something like 20 points. He also lost the state he was born in, the state he claims as his legal residence and the sate his VP was from. It seems the people who likely knew Mitt and Ryan the best wanted nothing to do with them.
Delicious !!
I hope next time the Republican nominate someone like Rand Paul or Todd Akin the "legitimate rape" idiot, or maybe they can get Gov. Bob McDonnell to run the infamous "transvaginal ultrasound fool. This is a party that suffers from a severe and terminal disease known as cerebro-anal inversion.
romney who?
This story has almost NO traction on the vine tonight.
Truly, nobody seems to care about Mitt Romney, about what he might have to say, about his feelings, or about his plans.
He has proven to be one of the most forgettable presences in the history of American political culture.
So how could it be but for a few hundred thousand votes in a few key states this man could have been leader of the free world?
Scarey, really.....really scarey.
the exact title he wanted may not been available...........................
Who voted for this traitor? The KKK, Racists, beer drinking southern red state haters and ignorant teabaggers voted for him; so now it makes sense but I refute the few hundred thousand votes; I believe many more Americans used their common sense and voted for their Freedom from these GOP Robme self-serving Hawks who continue to obstruct and lie and act like the azzes they all are. 2014 BIG change.
The whole Republican Party reeks of everything that is bad in America and nothing that is good for the majority of Americans.
It would not have mattered if they ran another right wing, nazi, Teabagger puke instead of Mo Romney. The results would have been the same.
Mo Romney, Grover Norquist and the other GOP shotcallers, had the best chance of beating President Obama.
The GOP and their ideas and ideals suck.
LTC Rattus, USA, ret.
You said it best - Amen to that!!
In fairness, Romney did and still does have the requisite physical stature to get on board the coaster. While he did measure up that way, he proved too short in too many other ways. The fact that he is a CPAC invitee is perhaps indicative of more information than CPAC cares to divulge about itself.
As will denying rights to gays, holding women hostage to their anatomies etc.
It's called progress, not the end of an amusement park ride.
Sometimes progress progresses you right off the cliff, like the fiscal cliff, or maybe sequestration, or maybe the total eventual downfall of our economy like all those other "progressive" countries, Greece, France, blah blah blah.
Hey Republicans ---- listen up. I think I have a strategy that may work for you.
Now --- Mitt Romney may have been the best you had and that’s the problem --- he was the best of a horrible, insane, terrible batch. Seriously – Rick Santorum, Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cane, Newt Gingrich --- as president ---- any of them?? I don’t think so. But that’s all in the past. So let’s look to the 2016 election. This is my advice Republicans --- if you want to have any chance of winning in 2016
IXLR8 You would not know the truth if it hit you dead in the mouth. That statement was true. Just because you do not like the truth , you shout it down and call it names. The figures are out about what he said, they are accurate. Sad you cant have the right to change facts like you want to. sad your head is up your ===.
Tommie M(oron), Mitt Romney's 47% statement was incorrect no matter how you look at it. If Romney meant that 47% of the nation are freeloaders -- that would be an obvious lie. Oh, that's not what he meant? Perhaps he meant 47% of the nation will support Obama no matter what and don't take responsibility for their lives (which is what he really said) -- this is another obvious lie. The ranks of Obama voters and supporters are chock full of responsible, hard working, paying-their-taxes people. The only thing close to accurate about Romney's statement was the number itself--47%--which pretty well closely matches the number of people who pay no income tax, but to characterize all of them (or even a majority of them) as freeloaders, people who don't take responsibility, and so forth, is vile. These are people who still pay taxes--just not income taxes BECAUSE THEY ARE RETIRED, or because they make so little that they don't pay income taxes, or they are on disability (veterans as well as civilians), etc. These are all, or even predominately freeloaders? That's offensive. And stupid. And actually many of these people who don't pay income tax vote REPUBLICAN. Romney's statement was stupid and erroneous, and You, Tommie M., are a moron for thinking Romney's statement was true. It is you who wouldn't know the truth if it slapped you in the face.
Pete-286...you are totally wrong about illegals...they pay into social security and Medicaid and Medicare...and fed tax and state tax( that have them). When they bring their w-2's to get see what they should have paid and to see what their refund could be... they get disappointed because they know they can not apply to get a refund ....you see illegals can work and pay into our system they just can collect from the system with out valid SS#...so all the taxes they pay stays in this country for people like you to complain about... which is really unfair because when I pay in I expect to only pay what I am suppose to and not a penny more...and please refund what is mine...but to some of you that do not know any better...it is easier to blame others for the short comings of others. I commend our service men and women for defending our country....when they are not fighting in wars do they still get paid???...yes they do...during times of peace do they still get paid???....yes they do....earning a living is the name of the game..so when you are sitting back judging others look at your self first..to see what you are really being paid for...
"Mitt Romney's 47% statement was incorrect no matter how you look at it."
Republicans such as Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Glen Beck, and Sean Hannity tell us the 51% of the people who voted for President Obama did so because they got “free stuff.” They also tell us that people who voted for President Obama don’t pay taxes. Since I voted for President Obama, I decided it was time to get some of my “free stuff.” I tried to get food stamps but I found out I didn’t qualify. I said I voted for Obama and Rush told me that people who voted for him get “free stuff” such as food stamps. They said it didn’t work that way.
I then decided to get one of those free Obama-Phones. I went to the AT&T store and they said they didn’t know what I was talking about. I told them that Bill O’Reilly said people who voted for President Obama got free Obama- Phones and I wanted mine. They told me I was crazy. I then went to the Horizon store, asked for my free Obama-Phone and they threw me out.
I bought a new car. The salesman was explaining the paper work and we came to the sales tax. The sales tax was almost $2,200.00. I told the guy that Sean Hannity said people who voted for President Obama don’t pay taxes and since I voted for him, I was exempt for the sales tax. He said I still have to pay the sales tax.
I got my property tax bill form the county recorder the other day. I called him and informed him that Glen Beck said people who voted for President Obama didn’t pay taxes and that since I voted for Obama; I shouldn’t have to pay property taxes. He said either pay the tax or they would put a lien on my house.
I called my accountant. I told him that a bunch of people on Fox News reported that people who voted for President Obama don’t pay any taxes. I assured him I did vote for President Obama and then asked him to handle all the paper work to arrange for a complete refund of all the federal and state taxes withheld form my paychecks since President Obama took office in 2009. He asked me what I was smoking!!
So – can anyone out there tell me where I get all this “free stuff” and how do I not pay any taxes.
