Newt Gingrich – whose candidacy for president last year was helped enormously by a billionaire supporter – condemned a new effort to support more viable Republican candidates as “a bunch of billionaires financing a boss to pick candidates.”
The former House speaker, who benefited as a 2012 Republican presidential candidate from the super PAC Winning Our Future, lashed out against Karl Rove, the former Bush political guru and founder of several Republican super PACs, on Wednesday for his effort to bounce GOP primary candidates who might fare poorly in a general election.
How does the Grand Old Party get younger? MSNBC's S.E. Cupp and John Goodwin, the former Chief of staff to Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, who founded a group dedicated to bringing younger people into the party, join The Daily Rundown to discuss how to bring younger people to the Republican party.

Gingrich wrote in the conservative publication Human Events:
I am unalterably opposed to a bunch of billionaires financing a boss to pick candidates in 50 states. This is the opposite of the Republican tradition of freedom and grassroots small town conservatism.
No one person is smart enough nor do they have the moral right to buy nominations across the country.
That is the system of Tammany Hall and the Chicago machine. It should be repugnant to every conservative and every Republican.

Republican presidential candidate and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich speaks at a rally on the night of the New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Delaware primaries in Concord, North Carolina April 24, 2012.
The former House speaker joined a series of conservatives to pile on Rove’s Conservative Victory Project, a new initiative associated with the super PAC American Crossroads to ensure more electable congressional candidates. Rove’s effort is meant to discourage GOP voters from nominating candidates like Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock, the candidates for Senate in Missouri and Indiana, respectively, who lost races that many Republicans regarded as more easily winnable.
Of course, Gingrich was the beneficiary of billionaire largess, too. Sheldon Adelson, the Vegas-based casino magnate, and his wife, Miriam, donated a total of $20 million to the pro-Newt super PAC Winning Our Future last year, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Newt, Newt, Newt. Now, don't be dissin' "the architect", as Hannity loves to call him. Don't you know that Karl is the best thing to happen to the democrat, oops I mean republican party?
You wouldn't mind at all if he was backing you for something. You're just pissed because your time is long gone. And based on his record in the last election, you should be glad he's not.
Isn't Turd Blossom backing men with low character this time around. Newt left out of the loop this time around?
Awesome watching the GOPuke turn on itself.
Let's see. The guy who stayed in the race only through the largess of a billionaire backer doesn't want billionaires deciding who the candidates should be. This is like a thrice-married candidate trumpeting family values. Oh, wait, that's the same guy. The current Republican party is like a demolition derby--fun to watch but only a few wish to participate.
Newtie Frutie is back! He jumps at every chance to be seen and NOT heard! He was for it, befor he was against it!!! Now he says he doesn't want the same millionaire's, or billionaire's to buy elections? How many millions were thrown away for him? What a bigot! It was good for the goose, but now, its no longer good for the gander! What a total @!$%# this guy is!!!
Retire, or just go away, Newtie Frutie, and take your Rover with you!!!
I love seeing the infighting in the GOP. It warms the heart to see how they go for each other baring their teeth. This is great mellodrama worthy of top notch entertainment.
In a nice way one could say that the Republican party is having an identy crisis. They can't figure out who or what they are. On one had they have moderate, sensible, mainstream Republicans and on the other there are the right wing extremist Fascist wannabes. McCain who is old school wants to please all he represents but isn't able to do that. No one could. The struggle between the factions of sensible, slightly right of center conservatives and the extremists has begun in earnest and may continue for some time. The next election may decide which of these factions will dominate the party or if the party will even exist much longer. As in the past with the Federalists and the Whigs the right may change again, to a more liberal party as before, and the Republican party will see its demise in favor of another, more centeral, faction calling itself by another name. What will the new party be called? Will sensible heads prevail so they won't have to think of a name for a new party? Time will tell, meanwhile I'll sit back and enjoy the infighting which gives the Democrats an advantage they wouldn't otherwise have.
Wow! One might even come to the conclusion that Gingrich is a hypocrite. No, that can't be. There must be a rational explanation for why it was o.k. for a billionaire to foist him on the party, but not o.k. for Rove's billionaires to do the same for someone else. Just like there is a reasonable explanation as to why it was o.k. for Gingrich to impeach Clinton for infidelity with a staffer, while he was boinking his own staffer. In any case, isn't it nice that the GOP has decided to continue their circular firing squad?
The only way to settle this between these two is to have a Canned Ham Cage Match.
Hannity in Rove's corner, Beck in Newt's corner, Rush as special guest referee, O'Reilly as special ring announcer, then put it on PPV. That circus would definitely make enough money for them to permanently retire and never be seen or heard from again. Both political sides would appreciate that.
Ham Rove was fed to a dog after being stabbed numerous times.
Southwest Airlines/Careers..... is hiring...plenty of positions posted...
Gingrich is right (yes I said that). The local parties should be floating the republican candidates not the billionaires and PAC-O-the-moment hiding the faces of someone else.
That said, the local Republicans groups have to become better at vetting their candidates with an eye to succeed in the general election. It looks to me that there is so much distance within the ranks of the Republicans, that they cannot bridge the gap between primary and general election.
American Girl- talk about manufacturing a candidate. Obama came from nowhere with no experience and is still nowhere near leading us out of the recession.
Remember Valerie Plume? Nuff said about Karl Rove, a traitor, running the GOP and commanding billions of dollars for ALEC members...... Sheesh! His rightful place is either a Federal Prison in the USA for life or being tried in the ICU for crimes against humanity and being put to death. The only thing we can take comfort in is that he is NOT welcome anywhere in the world but K Street.
Well newt you lasted a long time for someone of your character. Guess it time to move on.
Let's see....Newt Gingrich lamenting about Karl Rove screwing up the GOP.....priceless! If ANY ONE PERSON is responsible for the mess the GOP is in today it is the granddaddy of all obstructionists..... Newt.
Old man grinch,is helping to kindle the civil war in the failed GOP.
Man this guy talks out of so many sides of his @ss it's hard to determine if he's bi-polar with major memory problems or he's strictly reaching out to people who have never heard anything he's said in the past hoping to catch a fish(new supporter) at that moment in time.
Why would anyone listen to, let alone give any credit to, all of the ranting coming from multiplr factions within the Republican Party; the good thing is that they are aiming at each other.
I actually agree with Gingrich, he has a good point. Karl Rove will drive the GOP into the ground. His ideas are out dated. I still can't believe that I agree with Newt....go figure.
Someone tell Newt the Chicago Machine (and Tammany before it) got the candidates elected (no Republicans whatsoever since the early 30s) and made Chicago, "The City That Works". What do Newt and the Republicans have to say for their efforts?
God Bless Jakee Arvey, Martin Kelley, Tom Nash, Geore Dunne, Tom Keane, Vito Marzullo, the Daleys, pere et fils, Rahm Emanuel and the Cook County Regular Democratic Organization
roll over, rover, and play dead.
Pubs gotta get rid of this guy and a few others. They need to dispose of the old way of thinking that has ruined them. Need new faces, new thinking (as in someone remembering it's 2013, not 1413). They just keep spinning their wheels.
Good news for the dems.
Gingrich you dirty liberal! LOL
This is too cool, they are so full of hate that it spills over on themselves.
McCain is also self destructing. News on MSNBC just showed a clip of him at a community meeting in Az where he ridicules his voters. He calls one senior citizen a jerk. I was hoping the guy s would start throwing their shoes at them, the hateful ba*tard.
Most older folks who act like bitter ol John get extra meds
with their pudding.
GOP monster mash----This era of old, overweight, out of touch southern confederates is so over. the new era of government hating, Ayn Rand fire-breathers is now running the goper freak show.
Oddly enough most of them are old, overweight, out of touch southern confederates!
And rich kids who believe they are entitled to power, Like Ryan and the Romney kids et al.
