Newt Gingrich – whose candidacy for president last year was helped enormously by a billionaire supporter – condemned a new effort to support more viable Republican candidates as “a bunch of billionaires financing a boss to pick candidates.”
The former House speaker, who benefited as a 2012 Republican presidential candidate from the super PAC Winning Our Future, lashed out against Karl Rove, the former Bush political guru and founder of several Republican super PACs, on Wednesday for his effort to bounce GOP primary candidates who might fare poorly in a general election.
How does the Grand Old Party get younger? MSNBC's S.E. Cupp and John Goodwin, the former Chief of staff to Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, who founded a group dedicated to bringing younger people into the party, join The Daily Rundown to discuss how to bring younger people to the Republican party.
RELATED: Conservative thinkers: GOP should cut 'stale' policies loose
Gingrich wrote in the conservative publication Human Events:
I am unalterably opposed to a bunch of billionaires financing a boss to pick candidates in 50 states. This is the opposite of the Republican tradition of freedom and grassroots small town conservatism.
No one person is smart enough nor do they have the moral right to buy nominations across the country.
That is the system of Tammany Hall and the Chicago machine. It should be repugnant to every conservative and every Republican.

Republican presidential candidate and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich speaks at a rally on the night of the New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Delaware primaries in Concord, North Carolina April 24, 2012.
The former House speaker joined a series of conservatives to pile on Rove’s Conservative Victory Project, a new initiative associated with the super PAC American Crossroads to ensure more electable congressional candidates. Rove’s effort is meant to discourage GOP voters from nominating candidates like Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock, the candidates for Senate in Missouri and Indiana, respectively, who lost races that many Republicans regarded as more easily winnable.
Of course, Gingrich was the beneficiary of billionaire largess, too. Sheldon Adelson, the Vegas-based casino magnate, and his wife, Miriam, donated a total of $20 million to the pro-Newt super PAC Winning Our Future last year, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Go away, rove, just go away.
A warm welcome to RINOs, if there are any.
Gingrich's election in 1978 led to radicalization of conservativism - with his damaging effects still felt today.
More bad news for the republicons???
But it is entertaining to watch the party implode and cannabalize itself.
More tea, anyone?
Tea party calls Karl Rove a Nazi, this Tea Movement is Nuts !!!
Let the games begin! They are heading towards civil war.
Let's face it, Rove has worn out his usefulness to the GOP after the election debacle. And Gingrich is just sitting around waiting for somebody to offer him a plum speaking fee.
A Pig-Tale from Pigotry:
Gingrich is a very talented politician and college professor; but with all things, a talent can be a waste. Gingrich is a goner ... should be mentioned in the past tense. I don't have to worry about Gingrich again.
...and Gingrich will never steal my Christmas...again.
.
My motto: Swine-Flew - Pigs could fly...Gingrich, that
is/wasNewt doesn't want the GOP winning major elections or gaining seats. As long as they remain the underdog, his book sales, speaking fees, and paid invitations to conservative talk radio and TV are locked in.He may even get to run for President again.
I can't believe Rush, Beck, or Hannitty want this to change either. They'd lose most of their audience if the GOP became the dominant power in the White House and Congress. Sure, they could turn on the GOP as not being Conservative enough, but that doesn't sell as well as demonizing Democrats and they and their sponsors know that.
Newt, Karl & Grover, three moochers who have become millionaires by playing the rich aginst the poor. Of course they are funded by people (read, SCOTUS corporations) who want a bigger share of the country's wealth.
I think they are a retro version of the Three Stooges.
Every once in awhile Newt makes a great point.
Rather than Republicans becoming more "people friendly", their plan is to "manufacture" a candicate.
We all know exactly what we'll be getting if we hire one of those: A corporate drone.
Ahh... I love watching the fighting in the republican party. Quite honestly, they could get rid of both Gingrich and the Kochs brothers and be better off :)
No one person is smart enough nor do they have the moral right to buy nominations across the country.
Yes...yes, just keep choosing losers...
*Dems rub hands evilly*
What this makes me wonder is if the GOP is willing to ride rough shod over its own party, what do you think they would do to the Country if they were in control?
Love it when they eat their own.
Vote every republican out of every office every chance you get!
ItsAboutTime . . .
And Rove, and Limbaugh .. and ... and ... we'd not only be better off but would anybody notice and/or care?????
TO: Jack-956313 who wrote:
Well Republicans have got an unblemished record of causing Economic Destruction and Domestic Terrorism so far, so my guess would be "more of the same".
This is an interesting debate/rivalry! Two losers trying to pick a winning strategy for a losing and 'in-decline' political party! Which Party? Anyone care to name the party? Hint, it's the "party of NO" party!
they sell newt's at the pet shop. just as slimmy!!
"Do as I say, not as I did." Why do I have a feeling the real problem for Newt Gingrich is that Rove and establishment Republicans wanting electable candidates means that the Tea Party faction of the GOP will be gone, forever.
Once the GOP decides to launch to RWNJ's (Newt, Santorum, Perry, even the latest incarnation of Mitt Romney) all that will be left is moderates like John Huntsman, who could actually govern the country AND would get a sizable portion of independent and even Democratic votes. Of course, this would mean that Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Grover Norquist and their ilk would have to hold their nose and vote for a sane person, but at least the country would return to progress instead of destruction as its main goal.
Newt, of all people is decrying billionaires buying elections?!? Does he not know who was funding his failed run in the last election?
Here it is folks, the GOP stupidity and hypocrisy on display for everyone to see....
It's better if you spread the billionaires around so everyone can get a piece of the pie!
PedinSF . . .
He's just jealous. Poor thing! His name never made it on the ballot last year here in Utah for the Primary as his check bounced!
Absolutely! Then the conservative voters can nominate the likes of other certifiable lunatics like Bachmann, Palin, 999Cain or any of the other members of the conservative clown posse. (I really hate it when Newt begins to sound like the sensible one. i.e. "right wing social engineering")
Newt said WHAT? Oh yeah. Even the deluded sometimes see their delusions ass forward as opposed to those who view them ass backwards.
I hate to say this but... I agree with Newt Gingrich.
Too bad such true words come from the lips of a hypocrite!
Dr. Miriam Adelson, is the wife of Sheldon Adelson, a longtime Gingrich friend and a patron who this month contributed $5 million to the super PAC, Winning Our Future. Dr. Adelson's check will bring the couple's total contributions to Winning Our Future to $10 million, a figure that could substantially neutralize the millions of dollars already being spent in Florida by Mr. Romney and Restore Our Future, a super PAC supporting him.
Sheldon Adelson, the pit boss of casino giant Las Vegas Sands, has dominated headlines in both the business and political press this year. Company lawyers have kept busy with a federal bribery investigation about dealings in Macau
This certainly doesn't sound much like that "Republican tradition of freedom and grassroots small town conservatism" that Newt mentioned, does it?
It's fractured fairy-tale politics with the Senior Minds of the GOP.
@EEngineer#1.24: Think most agree with the proposition. The hypocrite proffering the proposition is the scandal here. An obvious tad of disingenuous bullsh^t to say the least. Regards
what we really need is for all outside funding of any kind allowed for any kind of government elected roll. However, I doubt that you could ever get enough politicans to stop this kind of funds as it benefits each and every one of them.
Before the republicans can even begin to define themselves, their parties honor that McConnell threw out the window 4 years ago obviously has got to be regained. Are we witnessing that? No.

If Republicans ran a moderate like Huntsman for POTUS, yes, they could get a lot of cross-over votes, UNLESS the Democrats ran a Blue Dog like Hillary.
If Hillary runs, I don't believe anyone could defeat her.
This coming from the guy who basically had one and only one campaign contributor, Sheldon Adelson.
pot meet kettle; kettle, pot.
Hillary Clinton is NOT a Blue Dog Democrat and never has been. I would happily vote for Huntsman if my other choice was poor but you'll never ever get the Fundies to vote for him as there is some question as to his sexual preference. The bigots in the Red States won't vote for him any more than they'd vote for Obama.
See, this is the type of pure garbage that keeps people from seeing the real issues at hand:
And what, pray tell, do you call the Dow Jones Industrial Average being over 13,000? Housing starts UP. Unemployment DOWN, Cost of Living Index DOWN, Middle Class taxes DOWN, Orders for Durable Goods UP, Automobile sales UP, Inflation DOWN?
That looks to me like recovery after the eight years of elephant crap we've had to clean up.
How can you, and people like you, claim to love America, when you clearly hate the average American?
You, and the rest of the RWNJ out there keep screaming "THE DEMOCRATS ARE DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY" but you don't have the first damn shred of evidence of it being true. You can't explain how or what they're doing, exactly, to "destroy" the country, but you sure as hell scream it at the top of your lungs as if it were some divine pronouncement. You can say it, but you can't PROVE it.
Get with the program, already. President Obama WON. Mittens Robme LOST. The GOP clearly shot its wad when Dubya Shrub came into office with the BIGGEST surplus in history, and left it with the BIGGEST deficit in history. With higher unemployment rates than ever recorded. With TWO illegal and unfunded wars in the Middle East. With the housing market crashing.
If the rest of these Grotesquely Obsolete Pessimists would just wake up and realize that they were the ones that took a strong, vibrant economy and tanked it for no other reason than sheer profiteering, while the rest of the nation dried up and had to suffer, then they'd realize that nothing they can do or say will ever make a sane, rational, thinking voter ever cast another ballot for them, ever again.
If you don't like my country, then GET OUT. I hear that Afghanistan is nice this time of year.
Delta is ready when you are.
I love the thought of all the people who think that our country is being destroyed by the current POTUS moving to Afghanistan. Bring our soldiers home and let the hypocrites try to right the Afgans.
The best government money can buy....
The FEC should start an investigation into Karl (cheater) Rove, and the Koch Bros. PACs. It seems strange they could control so much of the Repub. party and who could run for Pres. and who didn't meet their desires.
Thanks to Rove, American democracy is for sale.
God I just love a good cat fight. Time to pop some pop-corn, grab a cold bud and sit back and watch.
Rove, Newt and the Tea Party (funded by the Koch brothers) all want to turn our country into a Plutocracy. Of the Corporation, By the Corporation, for the Corporation. Remember my friends Corporations are peopleexcept when it comes to taxes. They all want the "Good Old Days" live in the company house, buy at the company store, no vacation, no overtime, resind the 40 hour work week, no sick leave, no medical. Ahhhh the good old days.
"Republican" and "Repugnant", welcome to my world.
Buying elections is what the Republicans are all about. Whether its Rove spending millions in outside money or the Tea Party backers spending millions in outside money. What's the difference?
pigotry is amazing! Run up the credit cards! Run up the debt! Spend trillions more than you have! That's the new normal!
I guess there is one problem with the internet: You never know where someone is from. It does seem like pigotry and so many others here who think like her, him, it... are from communist countries. Anything that talks of freedom, capitalism, prosperity is immediately dismissed by them. Of course, they are ardent followers of Allinsky because they can never support by rational argument what they believe. The only option they have is to call people who disagree with them names. Heck, the more they talk, the more it sounds like Joe McCarthy was right.
No matter how much Obama and Pravda lie, they just eat it up.
Sheldon Adelson
the guy that is single-handedly trying to destroy freedom of the press in Israel.
why else would he give away free "news"papers there?
I am astounded at the pathetic analysis by you leftists. Gingrich doesn't oppose billionaires giving money. He clearly said, if you read the poorly written article above, that he opposes billioniares financing a machine, in this case one led by Karl Rove, to pick candidates and fund them. So the hypocrisy charge by most of you is misplaced. My charge that you are largely unable to read, or comprehend what you've read, isn't misplaced.
I do agree there is infighting in the GOP. To me this is a good thing, perhaps even a great thing. For decades, literally decades, the GOP has tried to buy votes the same way Democrats do--with federal largesse--but by doing it at a lower level than Democrats are willing to. No way exists for this country to survive as the constitutionally limited republic it was founded to be if voters are willing to be bought off with promises of more free stuff to them, paid for by their unborn heirs. It's immoral, to say the least. So this fight is a great thing to me. Either the GOP will fully surrender and our country will finally eschew the constitution in its entirety, or the GOP will be willing to lose on principle and as a result we may have a chance.
Some poster above demands to know how so many good things can mean so much bad, and how can any of this add up to "destroying" our country. Well, first, most of the positives mentioned aren't as reported. The DOW is near 14k, but shouldn't it be? We've spent trillions we don't have to inflate the equities bubble, whether it was with the Fed buying assets or the federal government borrowing an additional $3 or $4 trillion more than the trend in just the past 4 years. Claims that inflation is low are belied by the facts too. Reported inflation IS low, but since a major component of inflation is housing costs, and housing values plummetted (not a good thing) then inflation looks lower than it really is. If everyone was moving all the time into a new place it would catch up with us, but most people remain relatively fixed in place, and so it isn't.
Your day-to-day inflation rate has rapidly increased though. Have food prices gone up, or down? Gas...Up or down? Medical care...Up or down? So in a real sense we've seem massive inflation already. But the worst is yet to come as all those trillions spent to "stimulate" the economy have to evince themselves at some point. Worse is that even at the low level of inflation that is reported it still wipes out nominal GDP growth, and so while prices continue to rise wages and wealth, on average, don't. In the late 1970s we had "stagflation" which was higher inflation and lower GDP growth. We aren't there yet, but we are moving that direction.
As far as jobs go, we have fewer employed people today than when Mr. Obama took office in terms of the labor participation rate. Our economy isn't producing jobs at a rate to even keep up with population growth. So we will either have to pursue pro-growth economic polices--Mr. Obama will not do this--or we will have to get used to a far less dynamic economy. No great nation has ever become more prosperous by stagnating its economy.
I think the problem, and why I will never compromise with leftists on any issue again (it always goes their way over time...a half loaf today, and then half of the remaining loaf tomorrow, and so on, and before you know it you've got nearly the entire loaf), is that the left believes that all good things flow from the government. Serfdom isn't for me. I think, instead, that left to your own effort you will become far more productive, not to mention a far wiser voter, and we will all benefit as a result.
Well, if anybody knows "repugnant", it's gotta' be Newt Gingrich. His picture ought to be in the dictionary next to the word.
The best thing that could happen to the republicans in america, is for guys like rove, Gingrich and Palin to just fade away into the sun set and let people who are at least reasonable run the party. I would rather have a civil debate with republican leaders then the horse manure that gets tossed around.
the two parties have disagreed for over 200 years, but never like it's been over the last 20 years. Ever since Rove and Richard Mellon Scaife took over the party, it has been nothing but vile.
george, paul, john? So, the best thing that could happen to repubs is to become socialists? Please, practice what you preach and send all of your money to the government so they can spend it more wisely than you can. After all, that is the new normal that the left preaches. Heck, they (you) don't even pretend to think people are intelligent and can take care of themselves.
This whole thing is a non story just ginned up to feed the pork rind welfare food stamp liberal trash.
Ahhh, Rich-lotsa numbers - you just repeat the standard Republican party line...
Yep, no matter how good things might look, they are bad! And then you explain why...
What this silly analysis ignores is the flood of outside money coming into the American economy, also. Many foreign investors are investing in the stock market (and American assets in general). Read about it here.
No matter what you say about how bad things are in the US, foreign investors believe differently and are investing in the US. They believe what you don't - that America is coming back!
Let's just look a little deeper at these. Read about it here.
Food prices rise in response to high gas prices. That's because transportation is a large cost of food you buy at the store. When you notice prices at the pump rising, expect to see the same thing happen in about six weeks at the grocery store. High gas prices are, themselves, usually caused by high oil prices.
Your rising food prices and rising gas prices are related. Since oil prices are controlled by supply and demand in a world market, we don't have much control over those... or do we?
The USDA expected prices to rise between 2.5-3.5%. It based this on $100/barrel oil prices resulting from potential military action against Iran...
Republican war-mongering has more to do with increased food prices than what you blame the increase on.
And, finally:
Food Price Forecast for 2013
Food prices are expected to rise three to four percent this year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. That's because of the terrible Midwest drought in 2012 that withered crops in the field. As a result, prices for corn, soybeans and other grains rose. Since it usually takes several months for these commodities prices to translate to the food you buy, most of the drought's effect will occur in 2013.
Ah, that pesky government! How dare they cause a drought?
Things just aren't as simple as you make them out to be. But don't let any facts get in your way!
Another Republican party line - one that was debunked when it cam out last year. From an article in the Washington Post, 05/04/2012:
Economists say the story is considerably more complicated. For one thing, the trend predates President Obama. And while part of the story is clearly that the labor force is shrinking because the bad economy is driving workers out, another significant factor is that baby boomers are beginning to retire early — a trend that has worrying implications for future growth.
The percentage of Americans in the labor force has been declining for more than a decade. In January 2000, 67.3 percent of Americans had a job or were actively seeking work. By 2007, just before the recession, that had fallen to 66 percent. In January 2009, the month Obama assumed the presidency, it was 65.7 percent. Since then, it has fallen to 63.6 percent...
But since 2000, the labor force rate has been steadily declining as the baby-boom generation has been retiring. Because of this, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago expects the labor force participation rate to be lower in 2020 than it is today, regardless of how well the economy does.
Once again, things just aren't as simple as you make them out to be. But don't let any facts get in your way!
Naw, in spite of the Republican spin, America is recovering. I know that just galls Republicans who based all their hopes for recovering power on a failing America, but it just isn't so!
Gingrich and Rove --- two losers whining at each other. But then -- the one thing Republicans do well is whine.
It is a little bit scary when Newt starts to sound sane. Of course we all know Rove is a certifiet NUT and wants to control the Republican Canidates. He envisions himself as the savior of the Republican party. Somebody needs to save the Party from it's current members. They are self destructing big time.
The Republicans have started eating their young.
Actually I think Newt is pissed that Rove beat him to being kingmaker. He always felt all intelligent life left the room when he did, so who better than him to be the decider?
Karl Rove is right, the Republicans need to weed out the idiot candidates. I would rather see more moderate Republicans for deficit control.
Gingrich and Rove have done more to bring down the GOP than any other republican member.
Rove enjoyed the Tea Party until they started costing elections... Dumb and Dumber...
GOP = Rich money barons who buy elections with millions of dollars, hate and propaganda...
GOP = Loser
I wonder how Newt managed to keep a straight face when he made that remark about "grass roots"
Hey, I'm first!
It's my first first!
You are an idiot.
The Tea party has become Toxic to our Nation, Crazy rightwing Tealiban !!!
There's always been a certain amount of navel-gazing, by the losing party, after a shellacking like last Nov. But, the GOP seems to have turned to neck-biting for their answers!
but it's so much fun to watch them eat their own. lol
When you look up hypocrite in the dictionary you'll find Newt's picture having bowed to his "God" Sheldon Adelson.
Accidental hypocrite. Newt probably doesn't remember (or know) what he's saying, or said, from one moment to the next. Nothing he says should be taken seriously.
I agree. Newt probably doesn't even realize he is a hypocrite, or that he was funded by the very type of person he is now decrying. He is correct about billionaire's funding politicians, but it's coming from a very strange perspective on his part. And Rove is correct about the GOP not putting crazy people on the ballot, but since that's a big chunk of who they have in office now, I doubt anything will change with that.
But this is the Republican way. All Facts can be negated by shouting the opposite loud enough and long enough.
And wasn't Newt the author of Contract with America which would define the GOP as the party of the godly ones in 1994. This around the time of one of his marital failures and reckless disregard for Senate rules.
This coming from a man who abandoned two wives and persecuted a president for having sex while he was banging someone not his wife...newt...sanford...foley....vitter...they were all diiddling something other than their wives while chasing Clinton...
Hmmm...it's the Republican way. Rove failed bigtime with his PAC Crossroads, in the 2012 elections. So, it is par for the course that he's now "doubling down" in an attempt to recoup his losses.

(3) Rove has lousy clients, the last one of which ended up being the most hated president in history.
You mean VICE president, right? Darth Cheney put the Vice in Vice President.
Bush was a shill and a pawn. I'd be surprised if he ever had more than a vague idea of what was going on at any given time. The perfect and common Republican President--dim and jovial. Reagan raised it to an art form but Reagan had dementia. The only excuse for Bush was he had the intellect of the cucumber.
Hmmm...out of respect for the office, I'll refrain from commentting. Rove, on the other hand, had no such office. Had he not made a "deal" he would probably have served time with "Scooter." Wait a minute! Did Scooter ever actually serve time? Wasn't his sentence communted by "The Dim One," who refused to pardon him completely, thus incurring the wrath of his V.P.?
Rove and Gingerich, the face of the GOP. What a joke these two are. The GOP needs to wake up and oust these 2 idiots or they are doomed. These 2 losers need to craw back under their respective rocks or jump off a cliff.

Politicians have been bought and paid for by the rich for years, how do you think O got elected? He is an ignorant narcissistic elitist that talks (and only talks) about his support for the middle class all the while partying with Hollywood, Wall St, and golfing with Tiger. Did anyone from the middle class get invited to ANY of these events? no but you lapdogs worship the taxpayer funded freebies that he so glibly hands out. so in essence YOU have been bought and paid for with paltry crumbs. Laugh is really back on you!
doesn't matter what the subject is - the hate just keeps on coming....
Dotties girl
And yet you back a party that when in power, not only didn't invite the middle class to golf games but didn't allow members of the Democratic Party to even attend official presidential events. You people are funded by the likes of Charles and David Koch and accuse others of elitism? Republican...heal thy self.
Dottiesgirl, that line of crap about hand outs and takers lost your party the election. You do understand that don't you? The idiot that started that line of crap took social security benefits to pay for his college and then closed the door behind him so that no one else had access to that hand up and now dares to call it a hand out for anyone else that wants to succeed. I volunteer at a homeless shelter where as volunteers we drive some of the homeless to work , yes they work, but their pay doesn't provide shelter because they work for minimum wage. Get out of your Ivory tower Dottiesgirl and see the world the way it is before casting judgement.

and it's a DRY HATE .
Dotties girl, I don't think we will be seeing a phone cam recording of Obama talking to Hollywood celebrities about a bunch of lazy slackers in the middle class anytime soon. Republicans are fundamentally dishonest and cynical when it comes to politics. Don't apply your Republican standards to Obama.
@ Dottie: You're not far off the mark. All-ALL politicians are bought & paid for. However, calling them ignorant is an underestimation. "Ain't no man, with the money in his hand got a hold of that bread by bein' slow in the head."
@ Mister Fids: You just don't have a sense of Yuma.
papagigi....great post.
Actually, I'm in the middle class and I was at his election night event. There were actually quite a lot of people from the middle class and working class there.

Rove was the evil puppet master behind bush and stood next to cheny, if we had justice, he'd be in jail before a new breed of regulators steps forth...
The Gingrich - Rove News Article: As in Roman History, the Era of Caligula is known as the beginning of their downfall, due to insanity..... Who really cares what Karl Rove..., or Newt Gingrich think...?
How much did the Koch brothers spend, and how many did they actually get. Only one I can think of is the governor of WI.
May I suggest Rush Limbo as moderator between these two?

Priceless!!!
You are only electable now if you have associated with past terrorists, and if you are secretive about your past relationships with bigoted preachers.
Plus you have to promise money to the less fortunate off the taxation of the producers.
That is what happens when more people are taking that contributing.
more hate from the teabaggers....
Ahhhh Hello, Pot calling Kettle black.....
Critic--That BS didn't work in 2008 or in 2012. Does it make you feel good to keep trotting out worn claptrap that no one cares about? Maybe that's what's wrong with the Republican party--they keep trotting out claptrap that no one cares about.
Maobama Critic
Is that how GW got elected? And here I thought it had to do with SCOTUS unconstitutionally overruling the Florida Supreme Court. Goes to show you, you just never know.
By the way...I see the moderator hasn't figured out who you are yet...
The IDIOT who covered himself in FEECES and then rolled in it for 12 years

thank you so much, newt! while karl seems to have a pretty solid goal of getting republicans on the ballot that actually have a chance to be elected, i'm all good with your insistence on backing lunatics who shouldn't even be allowed to drive a car, much less a country.
With great personalities like Newt and Rove on one hand and their counterparts on the "other side" on the other hand, does America need enemies from outside?..........
I think this is the greatest redistibution of wealth this country has ever seen and I hope the filthy rich keep spending on all these wasted candidates and media events. Just think of the amount that these idiots have already redistributed and it makes you laugh!
But they had a choice.
Taxation is not a choice.
For the left wing party of choice, they love to limit certain choices.
Sand Trap Anyone???
Critic--Of course taxation is a choice. Romney chose not to claim certain deductions so his 2011 taxes would be above 14 percent (has he chosen to file an amended return?). The very rich choose to invest in ways that avoid taxes. If you're poor, you don't get so many choices.
Old Vet,
Try not paying your taxes, and see what choices you have.
You'll have the choice to pay the taxes and penalties, or you will have a choice to be incarcerated.
this argument makes you guys on the right sound like morons. Do you realize that? I'll tell you what, you stay off planes, you stay off roads and get your butt off the internet right now because all of these things are/were government supported projects.
I can list dozens.
This silly tax nonsense is so old it farts dust. Get over it.
You want to live in the wilderness and live off tree bark, good on ya. I want a government that takes care of things I can't do privately. Fortunately for you, you live in the United States where if you want to drop out no one is going to stop you. Get thee to the wilderness. With your attitudes I'm sure we won't much miss you.
But I'll bet you want them to keep their government hands off your Social Security or perhaps you need your food stamps cuz you ain't got no job...
Mao Critic--How much did GE pay in Federal income taxes in 2010? It chose certain strategies that allowed it to pay very little, if any, Federal income tax. Beyond that, how can your ilk argue that half the people in this country pay no taxes and then make the kind of statement you made?
You know what is worst of all? The constant carping by conservative Republicans that 1/2 of all workers in this country pay no taxes and then blaming liberal Democrats for this.
When George W. Bush took office approximately 34% of all workers did not pay income tax. After two rounds of tax cuts, that number jumped to 43%!!
In a speech delivered by George W. Bush on Feb 19, 2004, he actually bragged about removing 5 million people from the onerous duty of paying taxes:
Nearly 5 million taxpayers will be off the rolls as a result of the tax relief this year.
If there is truly a problem with the number of people that don't pay taxes, then Republicans need to remember why they don't pay taxes!
Poor Critic, life is so hard for you these days. Did somebody rain on your tea party?
The whole GOP is full of wack jobs and the people who support them seems crazy also. Just look at these radio jockeys who are out of their minds: Rush, Beck, Hannity, and there is couple more. I'm democrat and I listen every now and then to their shows and wow what a bunch of dumb a$$ statements that they make on the air and to think you have people out there who think that crap is true.. I mean right out lies, garbage talk, you name it.. The GOP is done if they keep these T party people up there, people like the talk show clowns, And the far righty's.. I say let them fall because it's all for one and one for all in the GOP!!
It's like watching the Hatfields and McCoy's fighting each other over whether chocolate moon pies are better than the banana moon pies.
I'm rooting for the hillbillly wing of the GOP. They're much more entertaining. Watching the GOP nomination process was like watching an episode of Honey Boo Boo.
It's Godzilla vs Mothra.
Creature Feature played only on Saturday afternoons and had frequent commercial breaks. It's uncertain at the moment whether the current creatures wear rubber suits either in public or private, but they are in 24/7 mode and give us no breaks at all.
