We all make mistakes, and can turn it around with a hand... When we use poor judgement, we are not thinking properly, we may be drinking, away at a business conference or isolated somewhere, anyone even you can succumb to temptation. Forgiveness is and should be part of being. Ever since Woman's Liberation and Mrs. Steinem marriage as we know it changed. woman make more, are independent, and many forget the strong Feminine skills, yes sex to keep a marriage together. Arguments are all about money, it is the number one issue, and when the babies come alone we live for the kiddies, and keeping up with the Jones.

Noon, that's a pretty slippery slope you're on there. Women forgot the "skills" to keep a marriage together? Is it only up to the woman? Marriage has never just been one way and in most cases, the reasons marriages fail are because both people in it failed. It's a good thing that women don't have to be tied to the home anymore.

With that being said, sure Sanford made a mistake, but he was obviously in love and being in an unhappy marriage only made it worse. Love like that will make almost anyone do stupid things. But we don't know what his situation was with his ex-wife. Whatever it is, was it's in the past now, but I'm sure she was plenty at fault too, not because she didn't perform her "wifely duties", but perhaps because she wasn't a good partner or they weren't good partners together.

I don't disagree, but this guy exercised particularly poor judgment thinking he could actually get away with the idiotic Appalachian Trail story. He actually walked away from his responsibilities to go get laid in Argentina - that's an absurd detachment from reality. Although Clinton has recovered well from his escapades, his judgment regarding Lewinsky was almost as poor. Nobody even knew about Kennedy until years after he was dead, similarly FDR and Jefferson.

Issues of morality aside, if you're stupid enough to get caught while actually still in office, IMHO it's evidence of impaired judgment.

Plus you are forgetting to mention (perhaps the most pertinent bit of info to a SC voter/tax payer) HE USED OUR TAX DOLLARS TO TRAVEL, GALLIVANTING with his paramour, WHILE ON OUR TIME.

Yes, he paid it back, AFTER it came to light. I don't know of to many people that can use "company money" to screw off (no pun intended) while on the clock and get away with it.....

The thing that really struck me about Sanford's case wasn't the so much the philandering itself - that's almost commonplace throughout politics, society and history - it was the almost psychotic detachment from reality underlying his decision to fabricate a goofy story just so he could get some on the side. Anyone who can rationalize that kind of decision shouldn't be representing anyone else, anywhere.

It says the govt shall not infringe upon our right to worship or not worship in the liberty of free expression.

And NOTHING Mr Sanford stated suggested any kind of religious control of our govt.

One of the central elements of our Constitutional Republic and the freedoms it guarantees is that people are free to elect representatives who reflect their values.

That means that we get liberal atheists in some parts of the country and conservative Christians and Jews in other parts of the country.

That is precisely how our Constitution is supposed to protect our individual liberties.

We didnt have any other choice. Do you really believe that anyone with a brain could vote for McCain, Palin, Paul, Pizza man Sharon Engle, Bachman. After reading over the comments and seeing your refusal to direct any fault onto the man/men that made/make the "mistakes", and passionate blame towards the "woman scorned" (with unknown reasoning), I would venture to say that it is you that is somehow scorned.

Perhaps you made mistakes?? Perhaps you have suffered loss because of similar mistakes. Perhaps you find shelter in refusing to accept fault, in an ill-fated attempt to keep that guilt from consuming you. Or perhaps your trapped in an unhappy relationship and wish you had the junction to make those mistakes, as an escape route, but you don't.

We get it. You think it's up to women to keep their men satisfied, and place no blame (at all) on men that stray, even if they do so because it is easier than making the really tough decisions.

After having the man as our congressional rep and governor, I can honestly say he never struck me as a bigot, Roger.
