If Mitt Romney had won the presidential election, insiders say, it’s not hard to imagine what he and his number two, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, would have been tackling on this very day.
An extensive preparation plan dubbed the "Romney Readiness Project," pulled together by the GOP nominee’s team and no longer of any use, offers detailed insight into how ready he was to take the reins, the sources told NBC News.
Romney and Ryan each had office space set aside for them at a transition office in southwest Washington, D.C., where former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt led a team of hundreds of advisers tasked with crafting an ambitious agenda for the Republican’s first 200 days in office.
Insiders describe a well-prepared transition that was ready to hit the ground running on Nov. 7, and begin the work of fashioning a Romney government.
Leavitt was in Boston on Election Day, prepared to brief Romney if the GOP nominee proved victorious.
"We built a great ship, and regrettably, in my view, we didn't sail. I think it would have been a crisp transition," Leavitt said in an interview with NBC News. "I got up every morning from the day he asked me to do this — not naively — assuming that we would be elected, and we needed to be prepared."

Former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt is seen in this June 23, 2012 file photo.
The extensive and well-prepared operation resembled the inner workings of Bain Capital, the venture capital firm founded by Romney, according to multiple sources associated with the transition, who asked not to be identified to more candidly discuss the process.
“In many ways, it felt like the West Wing,” one transition official said in praise of the professional environment.
The preparations were enabled by a 2010 law, the “Pre-Election Presidential Transition Act,” which afforded Romney (along with any other future nominees) government support and office space to begin the arduous work of planning a handover of government. Officials in the transition team were allowed use of a government email address ending in “@ptt.gov.”
The Romney campaign had prepared for a victory on Tuesday, accidentally publishing their candidate's official transition website, which included a section on how to join the Romney administration. NBC's Brian Williams reports.
Romney was the first major party nominee able to take advantage of this law, and in June he selected Leavitt, who served as Utah governor while Romney headed the Salt Lake City Olympics, to lead the effort.
Sources described Leavitt as having taken seriously Romney’s mandate to prepare a new administration. The former Department of Health and Human Services secretary told NBC News that he reviewed books and manuscripts to prepare for his role, in addition to speaking to individuals involved in transitions from the Carter through Obama administrations.
The Romney transition was divided into groups that focused on specific areas of emphasis – the economy, foreign policy, education, for instance – to help shape policy for the early days of a Romney administration, as well as personnel.
Among the plans for the transition included the formation of teams that would begin immediately working with government agencies to lay the groundwork for the new administration.
There were “landing teams” prepared to go into government agencies two weeks after the election and begin the work of handing over to a Romney administration. Separate “beachhead” teams would then be deployed into those agencies immediately following the inauguration on Jan. 20.
“They'd obviously thought about structure and process,” said one transition adviser.
Additionally, plans included the crafting of an agenda detailing what actions Romney would take — mostly to follow through with campaign promises — beginning the Thursday after Inauguration Day.
"We had the first 45 days of the administration scheduled," Leavitt said. "We felt there was a need for crisp and early action. We were literally writing executive orders. It was a federal government in miniature."
According to Leavitt, many preparations involved assembling a menu of options for Romney to enact his plans for government or to make good on campaign pledges, like labeling China a currency manipulator or allowing the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
Rep. Raul Labrador, Columnist Tom Friedman, Former White House chief of staff John Podesta, NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell, and GOP strategist Mike Murphy share their views on what the GOP needs to do moving forward.
But Leavitt also emphasized that no decisions were ever made.
The transition’s portfolio also included the early work of approaching potential candidates to head cabinet agencies, along with prospective nominees for other positions that would require Senate confirmation. Those candidates were also vetted at a very preliminary level.
The end result was a list of 10 candidates for each cabinet post, which was pared down by Leavitt and two other campaign confidants: Beth Myers, Romney’s former chief of staff who led the search for his vice presidential nominee, and Bob White, a longtime Romney friend and associate.
The hope was to have Romney name many of his top cabinet nominees by Thanksgiving – this week, in essence. But, according to one transition source, Romney was never made privy to these rosters of would-be administration officials. The former Massachusetts governor was busy setting about the work of campaigning for the presidency.
"To my knowledge, there were no conversations between Gov. Romney and anyone about cabinet positions," said Leavitt, who explained that he opted to exercise tight control of these deliberations once campaign outsiders sought information about the process. "The number of people who knew whose names were on the pared-down lists was probably about four people."
Romney tapped Leavitt at a point in the election cycle that was comparable to Obama’s selection of John Podesta to lead his transition project four years earlier. Podesta served as White House chief of staff under Bill Clinton.
“The president asked me to do that in June after Sen. (Hillary) Clinton dropped out of the race, and I began organizing that with a group of people in early July. We had a fairly elaborate process working by late summer,” Podesta said of his experience. “By the time Election Day happened, we were fully engaged in the process of thinking through both the security transition and the economic crisis in fall of that year.”
In this archive video from before the election, Mike Allen discusses Romney campaign transition preparations on "Morning Joe."
Like much of Romney’s campaign, the transition team folded following his loss on Nov. 6. But future nominees — Democratic or Republican — might be well-served to study the work of the “Romney Readiness Project.”
Because of term limits, America will have a new president in 2016, and a transition of some kind will be necessary.
“I think it's highly appropriate,” Podesta said of the new transition process sanctioned by Congress. “It normalizes the transition, so you don't get all the political garbage about 'measuring the drapes.' It's a very complicated process, and having been on both ends of it, I think it's very important for the country to make it as seamless and professional as possible.”
Said Leavitt of the experience enabled by the new law: "One of the best things the law did was that it created an expectation that people would plan. Because you can't just become president of the United States in 77 days, and do it well."

Well, he didn't win though, did he? Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result---as Churchill would say.
And yet with all these ambitions plans Romney and and Ryan weren't actually willing to talk about any of it...
...which in and of itself is reason enough for the "Romney Readiness Project" to never be implemented.
...pulled together by the GOP nominee's team and no longer of any use...
'Nuff said.
FORWARD
More like Backward....
Let's see, who can we blame for the next four years because of the last four?
Note to First Read... Romney LOST... rubbing salt in the republican wound is not helping bring this country together, so move on!!
Now let's talk about something important like how we are going to get this country going again and what are Obama's plans.
Does he have a plan? That would be a great article... you know some REAL reporting!!
BTW I just loved all the "tough questions" for Obama at his press conference you really had him sweating!!
Even a 5 year-old knows not to count your chickens before they're hatched. Poor Willard.
We can blame the GOP and Romney for blocking every good thing Obama tried to do, that's who we can blame. And if they keep trying to block, we can blame them for the fiscal cliff and the slow recovery. When are the freaking Republicans going to learn that they lost and we won? Wake up, the people have spoken. We won the popular vote, we won the electoral votes in a landslide, we won seats in the senate, and we won seats in the House. Over all, Romney got spanked and Obama campaigned on taxing the rich and still won. So wake up and stop being obstructionist and start towing the line with the mandate from the people.
Instead we circle back to 2008 and run in a circular motion not to move foward. The current administration had total control and crashed. Where do we go now?
Yeah we know Mitt.
"The Romney Plan":
Destroy all Unions
Subjugate working America into slave labor camps like China
Eliminate Soc Sec and Welfare and Medicare
The wealthy and corporations pay no taxes
Attack Iran and maybe,......Paraguay
Democrats herded into gas chambers
Stack SCOTUS with 100% right-wing, pro-business demagogues
Repeal 22nd Amendment
.......and that was year one.
"Romney Readiness Project"...all in
Bain,I mean vain!Who cares, Armagedon was avoided. Time to spank your monkey alone Mitt.
Maxx the Moocher
"Note to First Read... Romney LOST... rubbing salt in the republican wound is not helping bring this country together, so move on!!"
You write this and then continue with your same old Obama bashing .... you are the one who needs move on!!!!!!
"The end result was a list of 10 candidates for each cabinet post, which was pared down by Leavitt and two other campaign confidants ... But, according to one transition source, Romney was never made privy to these rosters of would-be administration officials"
In other words ... some right wing nut cases were putting together a list of people who would control our government!!!!!!
It's clear that a Romney win would have meant a blitzkrieg assault on the government that Americans built together over the last 220+ years. A flurry of executive orders and new, politically-motivated bureaucrats taking over immediately in positions that don't require Senate approval would have begun fundamentally changing the way government works "from day one." The goal would be to get a lot of changes in place before they could be properly vetted and stopped by any opposition.
Meanwhile the House, Senate Republicans, the new President, and the Conservative media would have applied intense pressure to Democrats that they knuckle under to every demand in the interest of "bipartisanship." The MSM would jump on this bandwagon since they are inclined to think that lack of bipartisanship is the only thing wrong within the political sphere.
This election was a pivotal moment in our history. A lot was on the line. Thanks to all Moderates and Liberals for recognizing just how much danger bat-crazy Conservatism represented to the country we know and love, and for working hard to preserve an American where we work together for common purpose and achieve greatness through that shared effort.
"We were literally writing executive orders. " Sorry pet peeeve- misuse of the word literallly. THe other day I heard a pundit say "THese mortgages are literallly underwater." Literallly means they reallly were covered with h2o. What Leavittt and tetam were doing was writing fantasy executive orders which, thanks to the AMerican voter would never, ever be literal Executive orders.
I for one like your party as much as the other party.
That said I think this was one of the better political articles I have read in months.
Remove party affiliation from my ballot!
Primaries elections should not be paid for by taxpayers but by political parties.
They are not poor that is why u are.
Who paid for the transition project? I bet we did.
U gave them 2 billion dollars for ads and you paid for everything else? What is wrong with you?
Why are we broke again?
So long, schmuck. Don't let the car elevator door hit your tight, twitchy, entitled ass too hard on the way out!
Well, you know, that sounds like a perfect description of the Bush administration. They were handed 4.0% unemployment, a balanced budget, $5.7T in debt and majority control of both Houses of Congress. There was real talk of eliminating the public debt by 2010. After 8 years (6 of them under total Republican control), 8% unemployment (and rising faster than Halliburton's profits), $1.3T deficit, double the national debt, and a trashed American economy.
Romney's real problem getting elected was the desire to return to Bush-era policies. You know, those same policies that put us in such fine shape in the first place.
But that's OK, blame it all on Obama, don't let any facts get in your way:
...the numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December, 681,000 were lost; and between December and January, 741,000 were lost.
April 2012 marks the 26th straight month of gains in private-sector employment, for a total of 4.2 million private-sector jobs.
DJIA Dec 26, 2008 8515
DJIA Nov 18, 2012 12588
Dec 29, 2008 (Blooberg) U.S. corporate earnings fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.
May 11, 2012 Fortune magazine released its ranking of the 500 biggest US corporations Monday, which showed that they received a record-breaking $824 billion in combined profits in 2011, up 16 percent from 2010.
LOL....kinda feel sorry for the bayonet and horses guy...right now with Romney as President:
1. We would be on the ground on multiple fronts, Syria and in Palestine
2. We would have pissed China so much by calling them a currency manipulator that most of China's Army would be ready to invade the US via Chinatown in LA...
3. CEOs and Big banks will be smokin cigars and will hold the biggest party ever for Romney at the white house with the Koch Brothers as both the MC and DJ
4. The middle class will be running for their lives for pissing off the right for so long and voting Republicans
5. The RED States will be getting more handouts as we speak and the Blue States would be asked to seceede from the US
6. There would be an illegal Alien round-up OK Coral style complete with horses and Sherrifs
7. Black folks would be asked to voluntarilly return to Africa in merchant ships
8. There would be a new world order, Hitler style...invading countries that are not with us or countries seen as hositle to Israel...
9. The entire US military would be asked to line up across the US-Mexico border to protect against Mexican nationals entering the US legally OR illegaly...
10. The poor and the middle class would be asked to tighten their belts and give for a good cause...the debt; by relinquishing 50% percent of their earnings...while the rich will be aasked to do nothing because they are the job creators...
More Bovine Manure and backbiting from libs. This is still sad. Brenda, you can't blame Republicans anymore. This is just High School Civics class. Every policy made in a 4 year administration will have it's effects seen in the 4 years after. When the hell did we start this "blame game government" anyway? GOPisextinct's plan may have been along the lines of what the plan might have been, but what if it wasn't?
Fact is, the man lost. There had to be a winner and a loser. He's gone on to spend time with his family, can't we just let him do that in peace? Nope, the libs have to rub it in. Here's a question: MSN is posting what Romney would be doing right now if he were president, where's our absenentee landlord at right now? Yep, 4 more years of vacationing on the tax payer's dime. Our President ladies and gentlemen. What is he doing about how divided we are? Nothing. It's easier for government to run amuck while the people bicker.
Nope, I talked about voting for Romney on here, but in the end I just couldn't do it. He was still a professional politician and they are not to be trusted. So I voted for a local cab driver (Dennis Daye). My advice to you friends is to start buying stock in companies like Johnson & Johnson, Wells Fargo, and other insurance underwriting companies. Because what comes next will be the single biggest fleecing of middle and upper middle class wealth since "Trickle Down Economics".
Romney Readiness Project? it's more like 'America Not Ready For Roney Project' to me.
Fascism is far from dead, We must continue to remove these traitors from our political structure if the middle class intends to survive.
The fact that he chose a former Utah Governor (all Mormons) to pick his Cabinet shows that this would have been a cult based administration.
It had to be an unhappy moment when Flipper Romney broke the sad news to Anne that she would not be doing the one thing in her life that he thought her capable of:
Choosing new drapes for the White House.
If you want to know what America would have been like under a Rmoney and Repulsivecan regime, just watch The Hunger Games.
The result of arrogance, ignorance and greed. Just another republikan circle jerk. I thank God every day that these bastards didn't win. Mormons and NeoCons running the country? I would rather have taken my chances on another "great ship" with the same future: Titanic.
How many Etch-a-Sketches did the Romney Readiness Project supply its employees?
So American taxpayers funded the Romney Readiness Project?
What a taker! I want my money back, loser.
But that's nothing compared to what your major campaign donors must be feeling right now.

That sir is a lie for there to be total control in congress he would have needed 60 seats in the senate, he did not have that. The republicans in the senate used the filibuster 130 + times in 2009 & 2010 each year. That is more than double any previous year prior. That sir is why there was such a slow recovery. Not the actions of the President.
Ken:
So, your contention is that in 2 years the Administration should have solved a convoluted mess that took 8 years to @!$%# UP i.e., poor bookkeeping, a strategy of lies and make believe threats (in the form of a mushroom cloud)?
Sounds as if he would have appointed quite a few "czars".
Actually, it would be more like the America in Soylent Green, where the division between the haves and the have nots would be even bigger and women thought of as furniture!
To 'Leave Me Alone ok' - Please offer one shred of evidence that your fear mongering hateful claims have any basis in reality.
This Pre-Election Presidential Transition Act, all meant to dress up the one who may or may not be going to the ball, needs to be repealed to help our deficit. If not repealed, then the party that uses this act to prepare, and then wins, should be required to pay back the American people what they spent as a show of good faith toward their economic policies. If they can raise the amount of money Citizens United has provided for campaigning, then why should the American people be required to subsidize them further under this Act? Handouts to political losers is not in the best interests of our country. REPEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Romney-Out of touch with reality during the campaign. Romney out of touch with reality after the campaign. Romney out of touch with reality. The republican't party out of touch with reality during the campaign. The republican party out of touch with America and Americans all the time. The republican party in touch with the rich military industrial complex!
Hahaha....My mother always told me when I was growing up..."You can plan, but God can unplan"....How in the world did Romney ever think he could win this election on hate and greed?....Look at the people who were financing him...People could see through him like a glass door and what they saw wasn't pretty...Rich folks, Wall Street and the Tea Party would have been running this country had he won and the poor, sick elderly, minorities and middle class would have been running for their very lives...I always said God would have the final say in this matter and guess what?..He did...God loves us all but he not about taking the safety net from under the "least of these" just so millionaires and billionaires can buy another Mazeratti or a summer home in Europe...
Not sure what High school civics has to do with Math 101, but as President Clinton said, it's just simple math. GOP from day 1 as the loser Romney likes to say "Day 1", has said they would try to make President Obama a 1 term President. They have blocked every good thing that would have completely turned this economy around. Math 101 says that it's the GOP that is to blame for the last 4 years of obstructionism. GOP has been purposely trying to keep the economy down and the job #'s really high so as to make it look like President Obama's policies have failed. Well guess what, Math beat your physics and Obama won again and now holds all the cards. Sianara Sucka
you know what s funny you idiots think that 1. obama won fair and square, theres voter fraud everywhere in everystate, 2. All these Layoffs and plants closings are not good for the economy. 3. obamacare, guess what there are 21 new taxes in it and if i read it right which i never miss anything, 6 taxes everyone has to pay. 4. taxing the rich will not help one thing it will only remove jobs, you idiots wanted a socialist idiot you got him but what happens when karma comes around and you lose your job because of his policies and ideas, are you going to cowards and blame bush for obamas idiotic polices, most likely. but hey i wish you luck in the next 4 years, i hope all you liberal brain washed idiots either wake up or lose your jobs due to his policies.
Thank God that Willard Romney Lost. He would have screwed the Nation big time.
GOP Extinct
Nobody has to destroy a union. They seem to be able to do that quite fine without any help.
The Bakers Unkion at Hostess 2012 is just the latest example. All the other unions including teamsters agreed to the cuts to save the second time bankrupt company. Being "principled" means all those people have not job not just the ones who were ridiculous, in a market that is expanding at a slower rate than the population growth.
Ole Robert is a sore loser that still lives in that low information republican bubble in which facts can't get in.
Yea, and it was weighed down with so much bull@!$%#, it sank!!
This is an "Pre-Election Presidential Transition Act" that should have never been passed. It was only passed so that Boehner, Ryan, McConnell, and the rest of their crew can get in there and do even more damage if their "nominee" would have won the Presidential election. With the arrogance Romney showed, I guarantee you, even though President Obama would have continued to be the "sitting President until January 20, 2013, Romney and his illustrious crew of hypocrites, and liars would have involved themselves in a massive power struggle with the sitting President.
John B, Des Moines, IA
That's a perfect description of the Obama administration. Folks on the left are delusional fools who spout nonsense when it comes to worshipping the cult of personality they consider to be their savior. It's so cult-like it's disturbing.
As for the other deluded leftist who claimed Romney's aim was to "destroy the unions", they're doing that all by themselves. They sent 18,500 jobs to Mexico when they refused to return to work. YAY! union.
Someone should tell the typically uninformed leftrist moshulululu the democrats were in control in 2010 and passed the law
Oh what a prince you are, Robert D. Clarkson.
I won't wish ill upon you in return. What I wish for you is to get an education, turn off Fox News, and look around at reality. Open your mind and summon the courage to think for yourself. It is possible to get past right-wing brainwashing, but it will take some effort on your part.
All the best to you, and to each and every honest, hard working American. Happy Thanksgiving!
Robert D. Clarkson - Your rant was one of the longest run-on sentences I've ever seen. Next time, make a coherent, concise statement before calling everyone an "idiot". When someone posts a discussion, as you did, with a lot of name-calling, I tend to ignore it. But, since you called everyone an "idiot", then I have to question your judgment.
As it stands, you need to brush up on your English and sentence structure. Otherwise...you look like the "idiot".
I am so glad that we didn't elect Romney, he would have turned the American dream into America's nightmare. The same exact Bush policy's that caused the crash in the first place. A return to no where. That would have been Romney.
I'll be a little more civilized than you have showed, but, it's only people LIKE YOU who have constantly called President Obama a "savior." So what's that about delusional, you mentioned? When it comes to sending jobs to Mexico or overseas, your delusions of Romney keeps you from looking at what Bain Capital did with American jobs, correct?
You did say delusional, right?
Typically, uninformed......LOL!!!!
Are you not man enough to deliver your own comments?
Typical juvenile comments with the usual bad grammar, spelling and punctuation from the conservatrolls and so early in the day.
What a waste of space in even writing this article. All that it has turned into is just one more arena for dems to spout off hateful, nastiness, for the most part untrue and juvenile BS. I didn't see so much as ONE productive liberal comment. The majority of commentors are all Romney/republican bashers. Nothing worthy of any comment on what Obama is doing/done to bring this nation "forward". Nothing mentioned about what Obama has done about the deaths of our Ambassador and 3 other american citizens. No mention of plans for the future, no disscussion of how to heal the huge divide in America other than "we won, get over it", (is about as productive as a grade schooler bully chant on a playground.) One of the best questions I did see was who will be to blame for the next four years when then don't go as promised or like the last four years. Blaming Bush will only take you so far, eventually Obama will need to take accountability for his adminstration. But go ahead, continue with the "revenge" mentality. I think Simple theory has got it right, way too many are caught in the worshipping the cult of personality instead of taking a good hard look at the problems of this country, researching the alternatives instead following the cult is just too difficult for them to comprehend. Wonder how many posters would willingly let their children read the nastiness that they've spewed here and then be proud of what they've written???
DB Akron-
So, by your reasoning, all employees should be happy to have ANY pay offered for their job, eh? While your long history of posts also screech of "free market," this is exactly what happened. A poorly run company, having a vast number of competitors who offer similar or superior products at equal or lower prices, eventually bit the dust. Maybe the good people of Hostess should all be making $7.25 an hour. Guess what... Hostess would probably have failed anyway; their products no longer compete and they have failed to innovate. They did pretty much what American Motors did in the 70's and 80's. The only difference is that AMC would have thrived, if they had waited for the Cherokee to go to market. Hostess apparently had no such ace in the hole waiting to save them.
Any company whose survival, long term, requires ever-decreasing wages is doomed, unless it accomplishes this by the outright elimination of jobs. Employees cannot go on year after year, looking forward to less and less for more and more. After all, it's not practical to ship Twinkies and Ho-Ho's from China, although Twinkies could probably make the journey to the next habitable planet and remain just as nasty as the day they were made.
You folks are just awful winners....so let's examine what you have won...A President that does not inspire business growth or trust. A President that had done nothing for the many individuals who have been out of work for months or years with no great prospects for the future. A President who is very vocal about small business punishment for simply trying to become an entrepreneur with few incentives to actually grow a business with the goal of employing others. Four more years of companies closing because American labor is making demands that companies cannot provide. Four more years of layoffs or the increased practice of hiring part time. Four more years of wage freezes because benefit costs keep rising. Four mone years of few prospects for student graduating from college. Four years of preferential hiring of special interest groups like union only or dream act recipients.
You folks have won a democratic republic in decay. You can pat each others back in the unemployment line.
The Democrats have always worked under the principal that Americans, in general are uninformed, easily led and have become less motivated. A large group of the American people have become seekers for the path of least resistance. More about leisure, than effort.
In 2016 we'll know by the results of another term of Obama.
The Romney ship resembled the Titanic. A well oiled machine navigated by a pompous idiot.
Robert D Clarkson,
Too bad you are not still in the military, they could fire your azz for insubordination.
I have forgotten all about Romney, I wish the media would too.
kaybeetoys- Thank you, and happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
Robert Clarkson,
LOL! Just like Romney and the republicans you're out of touch with reality. Fox has filled you with excuses. First media and now the voter fraud. In one Waukesha district there was a 101% voter turn out and guess who was the over whelming winner? Romney! Yup, voter fruad!
The administrations push for 401K's and retirement accounts being turned over to the government - I don't think many will be happy about that one.
DB,, is just a little out of it. That is why Obama used the term "forward."
Sounds like a entity of Alec is going into moth balls, Hopefully for ever.
I heard an interesting analogy
Barack Obama, the Christmas package as a kid you thought looked beautiful and couldn't wait to open - only to find that inside the package there was nothing but tissue paper and a rock and soiled underpants.
President Obama is at the helm. He won both the popular vote and the electoral vote. The majority of people in the United States of America voted for four more years because we believe in him and see him as the best choice to lead our nation.
I don't care what happens to Romney. How many people remember who ran against Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon ... ? The wanna-be presidents fade and become nothing more than unimportant Trivial Pursuit questions. I will be happy when Romney's smug, entitled grin fades from my memory.
I do not wish anything bad upon him ... I only wish he were forced to live life as a typical middle class family does. Maybe that would give him a wake-up call into the real world.
Onward, Mr. President. You have the majority of Americans pulling for you. We know you have our backs ... and we have yours!
And what great plan does our and reelected president have other than a visit to Burma?
Great way Mr. President to begin another 4 years of failure. Maybe a round of golf over there would fit right in.
It's clear that a Romney win would have meant a blitzkrieg assault on the government that Americans built together over the last 220+ years. A flurry of executive orders and new, politically-motivated bureaucrats taking over immediately in positions that don't require Senate approval would have begun fundamentally changing the way government works "from day one."
I honestly don't know how you can say that with a straight face after what your president has done over the past four years with executive orders and all the non-elected czars he's put in place. Your president has done more to destroy the government than romney could ever plan on.
Of course, I'm guessing you have no problem with him meetings with the top racist organizations about the fiscal situation before he met with the actual lawmakers? I'm guessing that you have no problem with him giving the eco-terrorist group, the EPA, the go ahead on new mandates that will destroy millions of jobs and cost trillions of dollars?
Romney wasn't the 'savior' by any means, there was a lot about him I didn't like. But holy crap he is heads above obama in the ability to run this country.
It's really ironic that as soon as obama gets voted back in, unions start pushing the envelope publicly (LAX, Walmart, Hostess to name a few), small businesses start closing (two in my town in the past week), and layoffs skyrocket due to ACA?
Yea, great president you voted back in. (sarcasm in case your closed, shallow liberal mind didn't catch it)
The majority of people in the United States of America voted for four more years because we believe in him and see him as the best choice to lead our nation.
If you pull out all the welfare people (takers) and those voting along racial lines (blacks, hispanics), obama would've lost by a land slide. He didn't get voted in because people believe in him, he got voted in because of all the takers and racists.
Mitt lost and you libbies got your mesiah back for 4 more years of golfing and doing nothing to move the country ahead. Nothing accomplished the last 4 yrs and more of the same the next 4 yrs. Oh wait, he did do one thing, he shoved obumbocare up our ass.
"No longer of any use". It's to bad that the media, and no doubt the democrats, have written off any kind of a plan! It's a shame that Obama had no workable plan for his first term. Obamas plans for his second term are no better. FORWARD off the cliff with O's plan for failure!
Job1 Romney may have messed up had he been elected. There was a chance he might have screwed up. But we know Obama has screwed the nation and will continue to destroy America. At least with Mitt there was a chance for success. He had a plan and a vision. Now it's four more destructive years. Are you incapable of learning from your mistakes?
If Romnutts and his sheep have gotten into office ,It would have = The hunger Games !!!!!!
.....and it's a damned shame that Romney didn't get elected. All of you jackasses who don't have a pot to piss in now, will have even less in four years, when the idiot we laughingly call President gets done with you.
By the way, and think hard on this; the "majority" that Obama's supporters keep hammering away at, consists of less than 3% of the total popular vote nationwide.
Or, to put it in terms that you can understand a little easier.....Obama won the election by about the same number of votes as the population of two (2) of New York City's five (5) burroughs; or, the total population of the City of Chicago..
That is a majority.
But, it aint a landslide, and it surely isn't a mandate.
The point is the country is still divided severly along Geo-Political, and Socio-Economic lines. We are likely to stay that way too, with this guy in charge. Because, he's in waaaayyyyyyy over his head, and his record shows it.
Much of what Romney said during the campaign didn't add up. No one could believe a large percentage of what he said! Romney seems to be one of the most prolific fip-flop-flipping fibbers to ever run for President of the United States. Romney was not truthful, in fact, he seemed to arrive at the point were he would say anything if he thought it would help him get elected. It is very fortunate Romney/Ryan were not elected because the American people simply could not and can not depend on what they says to be factual.
He flipped on Health Care, he flipped on Medicare, he flipped on Taxes, he flipped on Pro-Choice, he flipped on Foreign Policy, he flipped on FEMA and he kept on flipping anytime he believed he could make political points by flipping. It became impossible to keep-up with Romney's position changes on the issues.

Typical Faux Entertainment fueled racist crap. I am white. I hold three college degrees, which I paid for by working full-time while attending college. I am employed full time for an American manufacturing company. The owner of the company for which I work is white. His wife is white. We ALL campaigned and voted for President Obama. Our company is in far better financial shape than it was in prior to President Obama's first election.
Why do you keep trying to divide the nation along racial and economic lines? I suppose you have the right to continue to do so if it makes you feel better, so go ahead and live within that delusional bubble you have created - the one where employed, financially-comfortable white folk couldn't have voted a black man into office; that employed, financially-comfortable white folk are not willing to help others and be generous. You go right ahead and continue to think that way ... and those of us who know better will continue to think that you are bigotted and uninformed. You and your ilk are unwilling to do anything except try to pull this nation apart at the seams.
You obviously do not believe in the Democratic system of government; you know - majority rule. How can you say you believe in America? Romney lost. Obama won. It is time to heal the divisions in our nation, not continue to tear them farther apart. This sore-loser mentality is wearing thin and it needs to be ended for the sake of our nation.
President Obama will be in office for four more years. The Congress and Senate need to work with him for the betterment of the people of America, setting aside their differences, their obligations to big corporations and bigitory so they can repair the damage caused by past mistakes, arrogance and greed.
So why did the Democrats win the Presidency?
There are now 47 million families that get free food and cash aid, and they think the Democrats are responsible for 'giving' them that largess. At $550 per month average, that's about $300 Billion per year in 'freebies'.
These families are typically also the ones that get about $440 Billion per year in free health care (Medicaid - that figure comes from Obama's 2013 Budget projections).
That amounts to a total of about $740 Billion per year in 'free benefits' that these 47 million families get each year, which amount to about 70% of the $1.1 Trillion Deficit.
These people have become dependent upon the government, so they naturally will continue to vote for the Democrats. A cynic might suggest that the Democrats are 'buying votes with taxpayer funds', but of course that would be considered 'heartless towards those in need', or even 'racist'.
In addition, the Democrats keep promising 'Amnesty' for the 11 million illegal immigrants in this country, so the 12 million Hispanics that vote will naturally want to vote overwhelmingly in favor of the Democrats who promise to let their friends and relatives stay here and be eligible to work (competing with legal American workers).
Since Obama got about 62 million of the 120 million votes in this last election, but won by only about 3 million votes, this huge group that has become 'dependent' on the government will form a formidable voting block that will ensure the Democrats maintain power well into the future. So how many of the roughly 50 million families that have become dependent on the government voted for them for purely selfish reasons (Don't touch my benefits)? If only 3 million of the 50 million voted for continued 'free benefits' from the Democrats, that was enough to ensure a Democratic victory.
Ironically, even though these policies by the Democrats will drag down future economic growth and make everyone 'poorer' (witness the $5,000 (10%) drop in average family income over the last 4 years), this actually helps the Democrats win votes because it creates even more people that will become 'dependent on the government'.
All of this comes at a great cost (witness the $740 Billion per year spent on welfare and Medicaid above) and the huge cost to taxpayers of the massively growing Debt (which Obama's Budget projects to increase to almost $26 TRILLION within less than 10 years - even if he gets his 'tax increase on the wealthy'). But the 50 million families that get welfare and free medical care don't really care about that, because they know that 'someone else will have to pay for that' (those who actually pay income taxes).
And of course the Democrats will continue to 'play to their base' by claiming 'the rich don't pay their fair share', and the Republicans are 'heartless and racist'.
We are well on our way to the ruin that Greece brought upon itself.
Roy,
You going to continue to post that same chit for the next 4 years?
More families on food stamps because bush43 bankrupted the country while Cheney stole the US Treasury.

If the Republicans really wanted to win, they would have focused LESS on how much they hate people, and MORE on whether or not Republicans have any "good intentions" about anything, because I haven't heard anything "good" come out of Republicans' mouths since I don't know when, more than 12 years at least.
Now here we are, almost 2 weeks after the election, and Republicans just can't stop "cussing and spitting".

You insist that the GOP has “blocked every good thing that would have completely turned this economy around.” What are all these good things that you’re referring to?
You don’t seem to understand that every coin has a flip side. What is the flip side to your argument Brenda? Here’s one alternative: The GOP blocked every Obama proposal that would have added to the federal deficit. Here’s another one: The GOP blocked every Obama proposal that would have caused more job loses among the middle class. These are viable possibilities Brenda. How do you explain them?
I’m not a Republican Brenda, but I’m smart enough to know that there are two sides to every issue, and that if I choose to ignore the other side of the coin, there is a possibility that someone else will see it and bring it to the attention of the readers.
Be realistic; the GOP has to do what they do. They represent a constituency and that constituency wants its voice heard in congress, it’s the American way Brenda. Are you suggesting that we abandon the American way? The people who support the Republican Party have a right to be heard. To suggest otherwise, means that you want to suppress 48% of the population, and impose a one party system on America. A one party system means you want to turn America into a Communist state. Is that your goal? If it isn’t, then let the opposition be heard.
BTW: The idea that the GOP purposely kept the economy depressed is Democratic campaign propaganda, and apparently, you bought into it. If you think it is true, then please provide the evidence that supports your claim.
Obama has the support of 51% of the population, that’s not a mandate to do anything, he does not hold all the cards; he only hold a few of the cards.
The candidate you supported won the election. Try winning with a little grace and sophistication, instead of acting like a complete jerk. Saying syonara sucka to a losing politician is immature and asinine. I don’t know how old you are Brenda, but you need to grow up.
brenda1964 "We can blame the GOP and Romney for blocking every good thing Obama tried to do, that's who we can blame."
So you propose to 'Blame Romney', even though he never had any control since he was not elected?

PS - Cheney was only the VP - their role is purely advisory - they have no real authority to do anything.
Interestingly, the Great Depression lasted over 9 years under a 'socialist' President (FDR), and it appears the 'Great Recession' will last over 8 years under the latest version of a 'socialist' President (Obama). Is it a 'coincidence', or the result of big-government, anti-business, anti-growth policies? In another 4 years, at least we'll be able to tell people like you that "We told you so".

You think just because bush43 left office all the chit he phucked up stopped being phucked up? No, his destruction was what spiraled this country downward. bush43 screwed the US pooch.
Because of what bush43 did and the people like Romney who hijacked our jobs and sent them overseas is what caused the recession, people out of work, lost revenues because of lost wages, is why we have lingered in recession for so long. You hope America continues to struggle just so your PARTY is in office?
You should really go see a shrink.
All this planning and general seriousness Romney PRE PLANNED for sure makes your guy look like the 31 Flavors worker that he is. Obama is still trying to figure out how running an economy is done. It's really sad we will not get to see what a true pro would have done. Instead Obama is just polishing his clubs and airing up his basket ball... Oh wait, I'm sure he has a czar for that.
I don't recall any John Kerry follow up stories when he lost. Sorry Conservatives - I'm not seeing your "liberal media" that you claim exists. I've posted several links to who owns the media lately - they ain't no liberals.
Some things are just unavoidable; like Murdock's own National Geographic channel finally admitting in some programs that global warming is real. If you recall after 9-11, Nat Geo was running all kinds of programs trying to sell us on the idea that Bin Laden was behind 9-11 - using their own publication Popular Mechanics as a source of proof...all to justify going to war. Now the same media is beating the same drum to get us into another war.
It makes me wonder if Presidents really are per determined - and if the will of the people have ever won out over the will of corporations. The flood of Polls that came out the last month - right here on NBC - all favored Romney. A little research and you saw those polls were Right-wing slanted...only in the last paragraph would they mention a liberal poll.
Is this article meant to shame us voters?
Amazing (or maybe that's not the right term) that apparently one of the ONLY bills the GOP House has managed to pass is the “Pre-Election Presidential Transition Act.”.
Have they spent ANY time thinking about ANYTHING other than fantasies about taking over the White House for the last 2 years?
in. re. The Article ("Romney's Readiness Project"...remember that?):
It looks like Romney and fantasy 'staff' spent more time "Being There" than actually Getting There.
Looks like America narrowly escaped disaster. I knew Romney would waste no time trying to implement his Bain-based evil agenda for the country. Just think about how close we came to absolute disaster. It's shocking to read about. America survives yet another really close call...although not nearly as close as Romney believed, apparently.
Bigdog, I agree with your assertion that the Repubs hoped we continued to struggle after the Bush disaster so they could blame it on Obama and get the White House back. It was the main driver for voters like me to give vote the president a second term.
I do however think the republicans have something to add to the national conversation, they just need to stop taking their marching orders from Rush Limbaugh and legitamizing the nit-wit fringe out before the cameras. I am talking Palin, Trump etc

You are condescending: "Those of us who know better will continue to think that you are bigotted and uninformed (sic)", and you have the nerve to ask others to bow to you, because, in your esteemed opinion, you know better. Dude, don't flatter yourself; Obama won an election and that's all. That event doesn't improve your IQ or up-grade your standing in the community. There is no reason to believe that you actually know better, or that your POV is any more valid than anyone else's. Get over yourself.
Apple, it's people like you who have a knack for keeping the hatred and discord burning across the country. You just don't know how to win gracefully. Rubbing noses in crap is not the way to win friends and influence people.
Here's some advice: Just shut up. Intellectually, you don't bring anything to the table; therefore, if you don't say anything for the next four years, no one will miss you.
Romney "Bain-ed" Massachusetts when he took over as the governor. His Bain approach resulted in increase in fees of $500 million fees for everyday transactions the first year alone, and increases in property taxes and state college tuition.
Thank God Romney did not win or he would have had forced everyone else to pay for his Romney tax cuts - everyone else except his beloved 1% that is...
Now that the election is over I don't see the Romney's & Ryan's buying can-goods at Wal-mart in Ohio, what a pair of phonies, these two losers are empty suits like their party. AMERICA - we have an urgent appeal for donations for the Sandy storm victims, nobody should go hungry, they need your help. The Romney's will just go back with their 1% buddies to their lavish life styles for thanksgiving knowing we have citizens living in the streets and going hungry after they just throw Millions and Millions of dollars away on Garbage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff,
I agree with you, we need honest discussions about what is ailing our country. With honest discussion we can arrive at honest solutions to our problems.
I have worked in business for 27 years, things always go smoother when people talk the truth, people are able to plan constructively when the TRUTH is spoken. Any plans made when lies are the basis fall apart and fall apart quickly.

As usual, GOP math fails.
The average monthly food stamp benefit in the US is $133.84 per month.
http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/18SNAPavg$PP.htm
And 30% of net earnings are deducted from food stamp benefits, which phase out entirely at an income of $1180 a month GROSS for one person.
http://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/applicant_recipients/income.htm
And, as usual, you're either extremely sloppy with your research or you just lie about the numbers.
The maximum food stamp benefit (meaning NO income) for a family of 3 is $526 a month. That's certainly not "an average of $550".
Complaining about how the poorest families in our society get food is so morally bankrupt that I wonder how any of you guys really expect to go to heaven? Or is that just "funny numbers", too?
Thanks MSNBC, for allowing a truly civillized discussion, where we all agree to disagree; unlike the other side (FAUX NEWS.COM) where trying to argue with the righties will cost you your membership plus a direct curse by Hannity and Rush Freagin Limb-Bone....

There is not a SINGLE state in this country where a full-time 40-hour-per week worker making minimum wage can afford the cost of the average 2-bedroom apartment.
Do you GOP let-them-eat-cake crowd realize that people work full time and make $15,080 a year - GROSS?
When the GOP gets off its high horse and does something so that working people can pay their bills without government assistance, we'll talk about "freebies".
It's not "freebies" if people wouldn't have food, shelter and basic dignity without it.
The average monthly food stamp benefit in the US is $133.84 per month.
With that said, when I see kids/adults (and I see this all the time) buying red bull, chips, candy, etc with EBT cards, does that make you think they really need food stamps? I do know people on EBT that DO need it, and they are NOT wasteful with it. They buy staple items and are very strict on what they buy with EBT.
Do you GOP let-them-eat-cake crowd realize that people work full time and make $15,080 a year - GROSS?
While I'm not GOP (independent here), I did make that (or less) for years. My wife and I lived with pretty much nothing while I went to school. I pumped gas, flipped burgers, worked in a vineyard, slaughterhouse, etc. ,what ever I could get. We weren't even middle class, but we got by, with no government assistance no less (aside from grants for school, but classes and books ate that up).
I could go on for a week detailing the Romney failings and lies. Let me just point to one thing that has to do with his claim that 47% are the takers.
The truth is, any study one can point to will show, those recieving help from the federal and state government are largely found in the RED STATES. Consider that most involved with the Tea Party are also in that demografic. It really is a mind bender that they would even consider voting for Romney.
There is an answer to why it's like that, that I'm sure will piss many people off, but the fact is that Religiousity that is a big thing in the South even as most abortions and such are the largest per capita in those states, is what drive the ignorant to vote against their best interests.
Like many I still find our government rather disfunctional regardless that Obama is president, but keep in mind that an awful lot of people have been fooled ino crap like the wars for nothing, the tax breaks for the rich that create jobs overseas, no taxation on religions that are breaking the law interfering in politics, a disdain for the poor and helples, etc., etc.
The thing is that with Obama in office there is a pathway still open to avoid us becoming a low wage society that will owe everything and own nothing.

No doubt every presidential candidate from a major party has some plans mapped out for the transition. But on the eve of the election, most know who is going to win. In 1980, Carter knew Reagan was going to win. Mondale know he was cooked in 1984 just as Dole and McCain knew they were going to lose on the eve of their presidential bids. Romney was shocked that he lost. That tells me he gets his information exclusively from the right wing entertainment industry of Limbaugh and Fox and that fact alone makes him totally unqualified to be president.
Romney offered the plan to Jindahl, Rubio, Christie, and they ALL said no-thank -you.
Then, he offered it to Karl Rove for review....and Rove said "Romnney who?"
"Readiness Project"? More like a Karl Rove "puppetocracy". No thanks, we're tired of war.
AlexM-3929653
I think you see things in an incomplete way. I used to vote Republican because I was a Conservative, Eisenhower both times. He was my first and I still consider him the greatest modern times president. I voted for Reagan the first time until I realized what the Trickle Down system was all about insuring the rich stayed and or got richer.
When Bush took office he had the opportunity to take us to new heights with a surplus but instead he was part of the destruction of our economy. That fall from goodness did not automatically stop in mid air when Obama was elected and it still has not. It will take decades to take us from a surplus back to getting even if that is even posssible. In short, we are still in the grips of the Bush years debt creation.
A dispasionate look at our debt tells me two things, one, the debt is deliberate and two, it has reached a level where it is likely unpayable. It was Cheney that said that deficits don't matter. As I see what the Very Far Right wing plan is all about, it is to make us and the rest of the world a low wage society wherein we will always owe everything while owning nothing.
Prediction:
OBAMA will leave office in disgrace and Americans will be kicking themselves for not voting for Romney.
BTW: I just talked to a librarian, originally from Poland, who became a US citizen a few years ago. I asked her if it was necessary to be able to speak English fluently to become a US citizen. She said "Yes, it is mandatory to speak English." I then asked, "I wonder why then US voting ballots are in foreign languages?"
If only US citizens can vote, why are the foreign language ballots necessary?
Wouldn't the rest of the US like to know how many Spanish language ballots were used in this years election???
Perhaps we should concentrate more on what is going to happen to this country than what could have been.
Pippo,
I'm not perfect, but I do try and see all sides.
What you say about the republicans is true, which is why I removed myself from the party.
On the other hand, the democrats these days are off the plantation too, JFK would be embarrassed by the democrat party right now.
Both sides have moved so far from the center that I'm not really sure what it'll take to get us back to where we need to be.
In this last election, I was able to see myself and my family suffering through romney for four years which is why we voted for him. I'm honestly frightened as to what obama is going to do to this country, which is why I speak so strongly against him. No, it has absolutely zero to do with his skin color, I'm about the most non-racist person you can meet. It definitely has to do with his choice of people in his administration, his handling of ACA, his handling of immigrants and the executive order, his handling of the stimulus, the list goes on. I voted for him four years ago, and he really hasn't done a single thing I agree with.
Yea, I can be a dick on the forums here, but it's a great place to blow off frustration while at work :)
Thanks for the post! Is rare to receive a polite post that disagrees with me! I also know that I receive what I put out, but, is life!
Good day!
What you fail to admit is that many of those 47 million people are REPUBLICANS; you also fail to admit that it is REPUBLICAN policies of high end tax cuts and financial deregulation that led to such a number.
We can also say that our entire deficit consists of loopholes and deductions in the tax code and the combined defense costs (and defense-related debt service).
You do realize that the GOP invented the concept of the minority welfare queen in order to exploit the anger and frustration of blue-collar whites during the 70s and 80s. And as for the illegal immigrant crap, what the hell do you want us to do with those 12 million people??? We can't deport them (ever Hitler couldn't do that), and we sure as hell can't keep the status quo; the only solution is to kick out the criminals and give each undocumented immigrant the opportunity to become a citizen, albeit over a considerable period of time.
Indeed we are, because apparently Republicans don't seem to realize that tax cuts are a poor stimulus and that they ADD to the deficit, not reduce.
The solution to the fiscal cliff is simple, my fellow Americans, as is our need of entitlement and tax reform. We simply need to offset the effects of the fiscal cliff via 2-3 years of deficit spending, preferably via infrastructure spending, and thus shield the economy from most of the blow. For tax reform, we need to do away with numerous expenditures and deductions, like the mortgage interest deduction, and raise rates on investment income. And we cannot lower rates; in fact, if it were up to me, there'd be 12 brackets ranging from $25,000 to $5 million and rates ranging from 8% to 65%. As for entitlement reform, Social Security can easily be fixed via indexing benefits to inflation and eliminating the payroll tax cap. As for Medicare, I would advise an increase in Medicare Part D premiums to 35%, an increase in the payroll tax by about 1.5%, demanding a rebate from drug manufacturers, and bundling payments to Medicare providers.

Reading the article, it clearly states that this is something that Obama did in advance of 2008 as well. It would be irresponsible for a candidate for the office of the POTUS NOT to have a transition plan in place.
That said, I think Romney would have run the country like a business and perhaps we'd start to see some real gains in the economy. Personal responsibility seems to have become extinct - with masses of people asking 'what's in it for me' rather than what's best for my country? If they don't reach some sort of agreement in tax revenue and entitlement reforms, we are doomed...worse than that, our children are doomed to pay the consequences of a defunct government/economy for decades to come.
TO: WelcomeUSA who wrote:
Republicans who lost the election don't rule.
The country has already said "no" to that, but I'll say it again for my amnesiatic friends: "No"
Companies have been making "record profits" for the past 4 years but none of that good fortune "trickled down" to the employees.
If some companies are so greedy they can't stand the thought of paying their workers an honest wage, let them go on their way.
"Romney Readiness Project", a misnomer if ever there was one, it should have been called, " The takeover of Government by the Mormon Church Project"! And Mike Leavitt as Manager? Of COURSE Mitt chose another Mormon to head it up, Leavitt is such a stooge, he never had an original thought in his life. When he was Governor of Utah, he was purely the puppet of the state Legislature, just like Norquist wanted Romney to be; "All that is required is that the candidate have the correct number of digits to hold a pen." Well that was Leavitt, ALL he did was "hold a pen"! No wonder Dubya wanted him as Secretary of Health and Human Services, he'd do whatever he was "told" to do.
I am not sure what Romney/Ryan would have been doing today if elected. I am for certain that they wouldn't be flying off to Burma when we are about to fall off a physical cliff!
But hey one has to set priorities...a trip that means nothing to our country vs. working with Congress to fix the problem facing the american people Jan 1st.
There is no democratic party anymore. They are now the Liberal Party.
Class, ethics, and integrity are sorely missing in the members of the Liberal Party. Hands down Rominey/Ryan were classier in defeat than the Libs were in a marginal victory.
In case you Libs missed it, Rominey/Ryan had a detailed plan to hit the ground running and start this wonderful country onto the path to recovery. The "plan" of Obama et. al. consisted solely of another budget busting vacation.
So in 2010 that partisan leftwing President Obama, facing a 2012 re-election he could lose, got a bill passed (with no dissenting votes in either the Senate or the House) that would do no earthly good for his own re-election, but would provide an orderly transition for his possible Republican replacement for job of President of United States.
Obama put country ahead of politics and you just know that Limbaugh was hoping that bill would fail.
Funny how we never heard anything about this law, not from the magnanimous Democrats who voted for good policy, nor from the self-centered Republicans for whom might be beneficial.
We know what's coming with Obama's second term. It'll be at least as successful as his first term. Not much to look forward to, is it? That's what you get when the only asset a President has is hope and change. We'll survive this mistake and unfortunately, those who are in the worst shape and who voted for Obama will be negatively affected more than the rest of us.
Alex M, intersting post... As you vent, please expect others to do the same. You are no different than anyothers here on the vine. You're a fool if you think otherwise. There are several paid campaigners, but it should be clear that many of them are no longer postings as their paychecks are cut-off.
As for you voting for Obama? and not getting a single one of your agenda done in the past 3+ years? What were the issues that you were counting on? Unfortunately, President Obama has done more than most average US President during his tenure... Did he vote in opposition of what you thought? Did you think he was going to vote anywhere other than from the centrist position? I know that the Liberals are extremely critical of his center leaning vote, and the progressive are dissapointed. The conservatives are extremely critial ... so it should be clear that majority of his decision are more center (perhaps slightly left)... So I question your sincerity about the truth behind your vote.
As for the claim of MOST NON-RACIST... hmmmm, from experience, only ignorant racist claim that. I would say majority comes from ignorance. Racism is taught and learned... So for you to claim such, you have got to be the most .... Even some of the greatest non-violent leaders of the world do not claim such (Dahli Lama, Ganda, ...) All of them would have told you that we are prejudice to a certain degree, and hope we are on othe path to enlightenment.
Glad to see you open up, but to me it appears that you only show what you think you want us to see... Still Best Wishes.
Bain is a holding company. Holding companies buy struggling companies, strip them to build a great bottom line and then dump them on those folks with more money than brains. They are NOT about creating jobs and saving business. Is THAT what we wanted in Washington? The GOP spent 8 years trashing the country. That's not Bush-bashing. It's fact. They started with an almost balanced budget and gave us the biggest fiscal crisis since the Depression. You can't recover from that size debacle quickly. But it wasn't the Rove's and Cheney's and their idea that we should go back to a time that never existed. It was those who allowed it to happen. As I recall the invasion of Iraq and the start of our decline was not just a GOP fiasco. BOTH parties participated. The opposition was all but invisible. WE decided that it was smarter to squander trillions of dollars and thousands of lives in an invasion that had no justification or credibility than maintain fiscal sanity. WE sat on our hands and went along with things. So when our cash and cred was gone we expressed shock. In a perfect payback we should have elected McCain and let the GOP dig out of the mess they started. But I think McCain was smart enough to know it was 'mission impossible' and not 'mission accomplished' so he picked Palin so it would look like he was really trying to win but knew that having that dingbat as a VP would ensure he didn't have to tackle the job.
Fewer Republicans! Fewer Democrats! MORE AMERICANS!

What would you rather have the president do? Perhaps he should fly down to Bush's Crawford ranch where Bush spent much of his time as president before and after 911. At least Obama is on a mission of goodwill and if you listen to what he says to them and the applaus he gets, perhaps you'll wise up.
a couple of things to the scattered wing nuts who now appear to be without daily bullet points...
Hmmmmm,
Nice useless Liberal deflection article by the PMSNBC bobbleheads.
As Barrack Hussein is vacationing in Myanmar pretending to be presidential again, we are 43 days away from the "fiscal cliff". But then again, why would Barrack Hussein care about the economy now, that he doesn't have to worry about reelection, when he didn't worry about it during his first term?
So Libbies, explain to us what Barracks plan for the following issues are:
1. Education-Don't start your blathering about more student loans and grants for college students so they can just dig a deeper hole for themselves before they even begin a career. Tell me how he's going to fix our dysfunctional elementary and secondary Public Education system that already spends more than any nation--other than Switzerland--per student, yet we rank in the bottom 1/3 in reading, math and science?
2. Taxes-How is he planning to reform our criminal progressive tax system that hasn't worked for a century. Please don't embarrass yourselves by saying he's going to fix our economy by raising the top rates on the wealthy, we all know this will only generate about $85 billion a year which will pay for 8.5 days of our current spending at $10 billion a day. How will he pay for the other 356.5 days? Where will the increased revenues come from and based on what growth and inflation rates? What changes will be made to the 72,000 pages of tax code we currently have?
3. Regulations-He promised he would reform regulations to make sure they don't harm businesses, especially small businesses. Remember, the SBA said current regulations are reported to cost American businesses $1.75 trillion in lost revenues due to conformity and legal expenses. Which of the 145,816 pages of the Code of Federal Regulations will be changed and how will they improve business creation?
4. Unions-How will unions become more responsible and corporation supportive so we can keep what little manufacturing we still have here and prevent more from leaving due to unsustainable wages, benefits and legacy costs? How will we avoid another embarrassment like we saw happen with Hostess and lose another iconic American brand to China, Mexico or other offshore corporation?
5. Energy-What is Barrack Husseins all-the-above energy policy? How can we exploit our massive natural resources to create jobs and pay off our massive, and growing, debt? Will he remove all subsidies and let true free-market forces determine the winners and losers or will we just continue on the current path of malinvestment and corruption?
6. Medicare/Medicare Part-D/Medicaid and Social Security-Because you Liberals all hold these entitlements as sacrosanct and untouchable I'd like to know the proposed improvements that were offered. Understanding that all the entitlements are on an unsustainable path, what specific changes will Barrack Hussein make to preserve these and how will they be funded in the future. I'd epecially like to hear from the younger Libbies as this will mostly affect them.
7. Jobs-How will we reverse this embarrassing job creation Barrack Hussein keeps bragging about? Although six in 10 jobs lost during the Great Recession paid mid-level wages, the majority of new jobs created in the recovery -- positions such as store clerks, laborers and home healthcare aides -- pay much less, according to a new study by the National Employment Law Project. The study covered jobs created from the first quarter of 2010 through the first quarter of 2012.
Lower-paying jobs, with median hourly wages from $7.69 to $13.83, accounted for just 21% of the job losses during the recession. But they've made up about 58% of the job growth from the end of the recession in late 2009 through early 2012. Those jobs have been concentrated in three industries: food services, retail and employment services, such as office clerks and customer service representatives, the study found.
In contrast, mid-wage occupations with median hourly wages from $13.84 to $21.13 -- jobs such as construction workers, real estate brokers, and data entry clerks -- have accounted for just 22% of the new jobs in the recovery after making up 60% of the job losses in the recession.
I'm eager to hear the "Forward" policies that convinced you to vote for Barrack Hussein again.
You spent the whole campaign demonizing Romneys plans, I'm curious as to what you found about Barrack Husseins policies that were so perfect to earn a second term.
This should be good.
"Want jobs to come back? Get rid of Labor Unions!!!" Are you totally out of your mind? Unions are the ONLY voice, that the working people of this country HAVE ! Oh, go ahead, get rid of the Unions, and go back to sweatshop conditions in the workplace, kiss your 2 weeks (or more) paid vacation GOODBYE, prepare yourself for a HUGE cut in your salary/wages, kiss your 401k or your pension GOODBYE, say so long to a 40 hour workweek, wave bye, bye, to any health coverage you may have through your Employer, say hello every state becoming "right to work"! Bet you did'nt know that it was the Unions, that are the reason that you recieve all these benefits from your Employer, did you?? And it does NOT matter if your company is Union or not, the Unions fought for these rights for ALL American Workers !!!
Non-par, Democrats controlled the purse strings the last couple of years in Bush's second term. Democrats also played a major role in creating the housing collapse. I agree with you that we need politicians that are Americans first, but what we have in the White House now does not qualify either. Obama must now find the money to pay for the promises he made to buy this last election. Or, like the first set of promises when running for president in '08, maybe he'll find out that the nation is even worse shape that he thought it was again this term. That's how he explained his failure to keep his promises in his first term. I've been all over the place politically lately. After voting for Obama in '08, it only took me a few months to realize my mistake. We'll survive, but the nation will have a much larger population of those that have been neutered with promises that our government will take care of them.
Why the hell is this a story? What war in the middle east not exciting enough for you? The upcoming healthcare laws and requirements to complicated to write about?
Romney loss, Barack won, we get it, now what? I'm curious to know Obama's plan to get us moving (other then higher taxes) what else does he plan to do to create jobs?
Why in the hell would any Republican want to win an election in 2016? You idiot Republicans want to get elected Captain of the Titanic? America is just another European cluster duck of a country that will slowly rot away. Let it go already, it is a global economy/world, and anyone who wants to earn a living can with or without America.
Didn't realize we were living in a dictatorship. Last I looked nothing changed during the elections. Obama is still President, Harry Reid is still Senate leader & John Boehner is still House Leader. So one could say those that voted wanted nothing to change at all and really didn't say no or yes to anything other than yes lets keep doing what we were doing. Nothing!
Over 6 decades under both Reps & Dems, lower unemployment has correlated with "higher" corporate profit margins and higher unemployment with "lower" profit margins. Then, these profits include profits from overseas units of U.S. corporations as well as their domestic operations. The federal government has made it virtually impossible for the US companies to bring the foreign profits back to reinvest in the US without being taxed to death. If you use history as a guide, any fiscal policy efforts to close the budget deficit by increasing taxes and reducing corporate profitability would tend to have a perverse effect on employment.
Looks as if that is exactly what's taking place, now 18,700 more individuals are without jobs because Hostess is shutting. Companies are in business to make a profit, if they don't then yes they will close.
Oh, hi Roy...did you get that pearl of wisdom from the same folks who convinced you Rasmussen was the only pollster that has his numbers right?
Damn, you guys won and you're still hating on?
Very pathetic.
Really!
When I hear stupid crap like "honest wage" and "fair share" I have to wonder, why in the hell do you use such open language? What is an "honest wage"? What is someones "fair share"? Why would I lose millions of dollars paying a high school drop out $20 an hour to hit a green button to start a machine and a red button to stop it? If half of my money already goes to the government what more is needed to be fair?
Try using real numbers, I think the reason these open ended phrases are used is so that people don't hear what your "fair" and "honest" really means. If they did they would probably not support your dogma.
Yea, lots of countries come back strong from being $ 16 Trillion dollars in debt and having over $120 Trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities. Especially when they are able to raise $80 billion in new tax revenue! I mean that's huge. (Sarcasm alert)
Logic,
This is how that goes in a simpletons mind.
Pay everyone a fair and honest wage, as long as it doesn't make my flat screen TV or iPad cost more, in which case they are being paid too much if it does.
Now if i'm building that TV or iPad pay me a fair wage. Screw everyone who thinks i'm being paid too much because their TV's and ipads cost too much.
Etc, etc.
You anti-Amercican wack-jobs are SICK!! Are you really so infatuated with yourselves and brain-washed by television and thoughts of your own self-dilusion that you have no idea what America is becoming? Your're going to wake up one day and find yourself in a FEMA Consentration Camp and say to yourself "WTF!?" But not to worry, it is for your own safety. So what if you lose all your freedoms and God-given-rights for protection from what might be? OMG I think there's a terrorist living in California 2000 miles away from me!! Won't you please monitor my phone calls and emails and fly drones over me and take pictures of me with my knowledge and please, please, PLEASE make sure the drones are armed with missiles!! Oh no, what will I do if the government doesn't come to save me from NOTHING!!? Grow up America, seriously, just grow up.
Yes because we are soooooooooooo much better off with cheap, artificial crap in our lives, which we need to mortgage our lives because it makes us sooooooooooo much happier.
We need to move away from being consumers of plastic crap and move towards a sustainable existence.
Will someone tell Fox for ReTards and the GOP Tea Loonies that the Election is over, stop with the Benghazi BS Witch hunt thats costing tax payers money. This pack of Clowns should be Cleansing "W's" Toilet !!!!!!!!!!!!
Romney's operations plan “Resembled the inner workings of Bane Capitol”….. We should ALL be grateful that this guy lost. The country dodged a bullet and avoided a hostile corporate take over.
Reading articles like this makes me despise the Republican Party even more. They have forgotten the definition of democracy.
Jon-998022
Equal pay for equal work should be the law of the land.
Shortly after the election of Bill Clinton, the Republican Party allowed Christian conservatives to encroach on Party leadership. The Christian conservatives enjoy telling everyone else how to live their life. They really do need to form their own political party. After the drubbing they got in this election, maybe they will do that.
I say this to the Republican Party: “Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics.” Does that sound familiar? COYOTE. The Republican Party needs to understand that grey-haired or balding, pot-bellied men should not be trying to legislate what a woman can or cannot do with her body. Such a choice is up to the woman, her God, and her doctor – and NO ONE ELSE.
It is time for moderate Republicans to grab their pitchforks and herd the conservative Christians out of the Party. It is not the 1800s or the 1940s. Times have changed. People have changed. The GOP POOBAHS need to get with it and change, or they are going to lose a lot of elections.
Moderate Republicans could see the hand writing on the wall, and did not want the White House and political appointees stacked and crammed with members of the "Mormon Mafia," or conservative Christians.
Willard Romney's defeat also is a rejection of the draconian thinking of the conservative Christians.
By the way, I am a moderate Republican - who did not vote for Romney/Ryan, specifically due to their draconian religious views about women's rights.
It is time for the voters to focus on the U.S. Congress – members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, to get them to cooperate. It is time to set and reach goals to keep our country strong, and productive. It is time to make responsible budgets, and to pay down the U.S. debt. Congress needs to act responsibly.
Until the Republican Party changes its thinking to be more cooperative and inclusive, nothing will change.

My only agenda when I voted for obama was that I couldn't stand the thought of the mccain/palin ticket (omg talk about utter ruin!), and that our country was in serious pain and it needed fixed. I am fiscally and socially a conservative (just not off the plantation to the right). What he did (in order) that turned me off him was:
1. ACA, while I'm all for health care for everyone, this was a horrible attempt at it. Not only was it forced down our throats, the middle class is the ones hurt the most by it.
2. While he 'saved' GM, I also saw that pretty much only union jobs were saved, thousands of non-union workers were thrown under the bus. I am not a union supporter, but if you're going to save jobs, save for all, not just those who you care about.
3. Racial/economic divide. He's turned everybody against each other in this country. From zimmerman to the beer summit. He had no business even mentioning it. Supporting the occupy movement? While I I understand that liberal don't support the tea party, at least they were respectful to our country and the location they have their gatherings at. But to support a bunch of ragtag people crapping on cop cars, turning public parks into dumps, etc? Gimme a break and go back to woodstock.
4. DREAM act via executive order: The dream act as failed to pass over and over. It has always been poorly written and open ended. I would support a well written dream act. But to pass it via executive fiat is just stupid. As well as the fact that only congress has the power to affect immigration.
As for the claim of MOST NON-RACIST... hmmmm, from experience, only ignorant racist claim that. I would say majority comes from ignorance. Racism is taught and learned... The only people I have a problem with are illegal immigrants, and that spans a large number of races, so it isn't racist. I do get irritated when I try and go shopping with my wife and the illegals come in from the potato fields. They are rude, block aisles, don't speak english, etc. I do have a strong belief that if you come here, you assimilate into our culture and learn our language. I also have mexican friends that get just as irritated as I do with the illegals. I also have friends from all walks of life, all colors, different religions, races, beliefs, etc. I was not brought up racist, I don't like being around racist people. To be honest, the people I see racist the most are to the left. They always bring it up about anything and everything. Not voting for obama is a great example. Just because I didn't vote for him means I'm racist. That is about the most ignorant and shallow thing I've heard.
Glad to see you open up, but to me it appears that you only show what you think you want us to see... Still Best Wishes.
I only show what I wish to show, and honestly couldn't careless if you want to see it or don't. If you don't, move on to the next post. If you do, feel free to flick crap at me. :)
Good day!
I read this article hoping to learn what Romney would have actually done if elected. Lord knows he wasn't telling us before the election. Other than authorizing the Keystone pipeline and labelling China a currency manipulator, I haven't learned a thing. I do get the impression, however, that people were being selected and vetted for important positions and decisions were being made on policy and executive action without Romney's knowledge and approval. It confirms my belief that he was an empty suit without any qualifications for the job put up as a figurehead, and the real power in a Romney administration would have resided elsewhere. Kind of like Bush II.
AlexM-3929653 Just curious, are you on medications?
I think that photo of Leavitt was photo shopped from a picture of Paul Lynd from Hollywood Squares......
Since that was public money for Romney setting up shop, that data should be public domain discloser ready...should be fun reading.....
First executive order, build Ann a tower to look down upon the unwashed masses......Second order, but Costco, close it down and send to China.....
I've been wondering why republicans are always going on about Obama being on vacation, because he really hasn't been as far as I am aware. Now I get it. Any time he leaves the country on business they consider that vacation. Absolutely deluded!
GOPisextinct
Yeah we know Mitt.
"The OBAMA Plan":
Destroy all Unions
Seems the Unions are destroying themselves, Mr. Twinkie
Subjugate working America into slave labor camps like China
That would be an OBAMA plan, think NDAA
Eliminate Soc Sec and Welfare and Medicare
Again, an OBAMA plan to spend us into hyperinflation. Saw a GOVERNMENT deficit chart that showed it declining right up until OBAMA took office in 2008.
The wealthy and corporations pay no taxes
Never heard him say that. Don't believe that would happen.
Attack Iran and maybe,......Paraguay
I am sure that OBAMA is just chomping at the bit to send our young folks in there. Oh wait, wouldn't want to upset Allah now would we.
Democrats herded into gas chambers
See the NDAA that OBAMA signed for this one.
Stack SCOTUS with 100% right-wing, pro-business demagogues
Yup, another OBAMA plan to stack the SCOTUS with Pro Socialist/Marxist clowns and puppets that take and follow orders properly.
Repeal 22nd Amendment
Heck, by the next election that will probably be the ONLY amendment we have left. He already took care of several of them (again, see the NDAA and he EO's as well.) Already working on the 2nd and that only took 24 hours.
.......and that was year one.
Good thing OBAMA has a running start, eh. Hard to get it all done in just one year with a bit of resistance and holding back. LAME DUCK HERE WE GO!!!!!
Because people need a certain amount of money to be able to afford a home, food, etc. Because we need people to retire at some point (and not work till they drop) to keep the workforce reinvigorated and to open up employment for people new to it. So that there is less crime. So that they can afford to buy non-essentials and help the businesses selling them to succeed. To get to the point, it makes the world we live in better for everyone. And the kicker is that if they are being paid better then there's less need for things like welfare (you do know that a lot of people on welfare also work, but get paid so pitifully they still qualify for it?), so the taxes you pay could actually go down. Imagine that!
The USA could of had a real strong leader with W M Romney, but instead choose B H Obama by 2% of the vote. It is too bad that five (5) million registered Republicans did NOT vote in Y2012. Forward - over the cliff we go! Obummer...
I find it amusing that many of these right of the Republican party supporters write, enough of you libys crowing .So you won .Let's get on with some other topics. They then spend the rest of their time doing their usual Liberal bashing, OBAMA sneering and predictions of dire consequences for the majority for voting in our P.O.T.U.S. They should take their own advice , move on. You attempted to win with not only an unpalatable alternative for our leader but someone who would have been one of the biggest disasters this country has ever experienced.
To all the Dems who have the righteous viewpoint of "you lost so just get over it and let's work to make the country whole" - you are so hypocritical. If Obama had lost, I can guarantee 100% that you would not have been willing to follow your mewling advice to the Republicans who see Obama as the Great Destructor. He has the exact same opportunities as every other president to either have a successful term or a failure. He is going to be a failure, not because of any "new" counter-efforts by the opposite party. Those are there with every president. No, he is going to be a failure because he is in treason to our Constitution and is so arrogant that he feels he is above the laws of the country. I wonder how much Justice Roberts got in bribes to make the egregious decision he did and thereby render the Constitution an ineffective document.
I will continuously urge my elected officials to fight Obamacare ALWAYS. I will also urge them to impeach Mr. Obama. He does not deserve the office of President.
To Homer Adams (Post # 1.156):
To quote you:
Well, if as you so say, the registered Republicans did not get out to vote, perhaps they, too, saw through the GOP bigotry and lies put out by your Party. GOP lost the respect of many. Too bad, so sad; but we're glad to have pulled the plug on your tug boat.
No! Let 'em obstruct! Obstruction cost them the White House as well as seats in both houses of Congress this time, and if they keep it up it'll cost them even more. Soon they'll be the ones we can ask to "self-deport".
Whether the right likes it or not, this country is moving slowly, inexorably, to the left. More and more states are approving gay marriage, Washington and Colorado has legalized marijuana, and the right has been unable to stop it. Keep letting the right try to obstruct...it'll be their downfall.
Hillary 2016! (That's just to get under the right's skin...but it'll be even worse for them when Hillary gets elected!)
J. Spence/What do you do for your living? With your comments I can't tell but would be surprised if you had a regular job as anything except as a payed minion of the worst of the super rich. You obviously do not belong in this real world. Your views are so far out that I assume that you belong to some far out right wing commune. There is no point in attempting to discuss any of your viewpoints as ,extremists as You are,you could not be reached intellectually so I can not wish you fare thee well!
Hahahaha; even though Obama has taken less vacations than George W. Bush himself, I'll let you have this one.
I won't bother to explain Obama's plan, because you can look it up on your own. I'll just tell you MY plan:
Well, that is a big issue: first of all, I would have the federal government fund a larger share of the education budget (but not increase total education spending, merely take some pressure off the states). Secondly, I would establish a national education standard system and organize an education system for teachers to sharpen their skills. Then, I would advocate a federal-state-local partnership in instituting merit-based pay, with a floor of 80% of a school district's median income, complete with an insurance premium for going into troubled neighborhoods and a point system based on graduation and proficiency rates. For higher education, I would advocate an increase in Pell Grants and college aid while increasing funding for public colleges. I would also seek to reform the higher education system so that public institutions are heavily affordable and establishing negotiation channels between students and college boards to focus on reasonable tuition rates. If that doesn't work, I would gather a commission of higher education experts and economists from here and abroad to work out a comprehensive reform plan and immediately send it to Congress.
For the tax code, I will find three simple priorities for reform: fairness, economic interests, and efficiency. But I will not follow the folly of most reform plans, which promise to broaden the tax base while lowering rates in order to "increase competitiveness." For the individual tax code, I would expand the structure to 12 brackets, with rates ranging from 8% for people making up to $35,000 to 70% incomes over $5 million. I would also limit deductions to 15% of adjusted gross income, limit deductions for state and local taxes to 2% of adjusted gross income, the eventual phase-out of the mortgage interest deduction, and the elimination and/or limiting of breaks for employer-paid health premiums, charitable deductions, and the like. The Alternative Minimum Tax would either be indexed to inflation indefinitely based on 2007 levels and the rates themselves increased to cover the cost of the long-term patch or replaced by a 4% add-on tax for incomes above $100,000 for singles or double that for couples. On the corporate side, I would extend depreciation, end subsidies of oil, gas, and extraction industries, and tax worldwide corporate income as it is earned. I would also mandate that all businesses apply under corporate tax returns and not personal returns, so that all businesses will be taxed under the corporate rate. The top rate would be reduced to 17.5%, and then I would institute a cap and trade regime with a greenhouse emissions tax, and a 5% VAT, with a goal for a top marginal tax rate of 26%. Manufacturers (corporations that produce capital and consumer products made primarily of plastic, wood, and/or metal and metallic alloys), high-tech corporations, and clean energy companies would be taxed at a top rate of 13.5%, with the expansion of the wind tax credit and the development of credits on solar, wind, domestic manufacturing, and high-tech industries. The research and development tax credit would be replaced with a direct subsidy for R&D and grants for corporate research being made at American universities. And finally, I would tax capital gains at 28% and dividends at 36%, with an estate tax based on pre-2001 levels.
For regulations, there would have to be a Bowles-Simpson-like commission designed to make the regulatory system efficient. However, I would strengthen the Dodd-Frank legislation via the full implementation of the original Volcker Rule, the reinstatement of the Glass-Steagall Act, and the addition of other financial regulations that would separate deposit and investing institutions and expand regulations to most financial institutions. In addition, I would install a cap-and-trade regime for environmental regulations, but I would also seek to simplify the regulatory agency system via reducing and consolidating the number of agencies. We have nearly two dozen agencies regulating the financial industry; I would reduce that to 4, the Federal Reserve, the Consumer Protection Bureau, the FDIC, and the SEC. But each would take over the duties of the agencies consolidating into them and would seek to reduce moral hazard and risky credit and derivative swaps.
Well, first of all let me state that I would be a pro-labor administration (bring on the attacks). Secondly, I would seek to vigorously enforce existing labor laws, more so than we have over the past few decades. Then, I would repeal the Taft-Hartley Act, reducing strains on union membership and defending collective bargaining rights across the nation. I would also pass the American Codeterminiation Act, mandating that representatives elected by workers consist of exactly one-half of all corporate supervisory boards in companies with over 2,500 employees. In addition, the minimum wage would be increased to $10.25 and index the minimum wage to a combination of inflation and economic growth. In addition, I would seek to encourage companies to establish a national partnership to channel labor resources from one occupation to the next and sponsor apprenticeship programs on a model similar to corporate environments in Europe, particularly Germany and Holland.
For energy policy, I have already stated my cap and trade and greenhouse tax regime. However, I would approve the construction of the Keystone Pipeline (provided that it be constructed over environmentally-sound routes) and moderate offshore drilling projects. However, I would also offer subsidies for green energy initiatives and innovations, focus on growing the alternative energy industry, and fund green infrastructure and stronger and more efficient electrical grid via an increased gas tax and a separate infrastructure bank investment.
Social Security is easy to fix; just eliminate the cap on the payroll tax, keep benefits stable, and index benefits to inflation in a progressive manner. As for Medicare, you will have to shore it up in the short and medium-term to buy time for experiments in long-term solvency. I would merely increase Medicare Part B premiums to 35%, increase the payroll tax by 1.5%, reform Medigap insurance, and bundle Medicare payments for a more fee-for-health quality payment mechanism.
Well, increasing the minimum wage will definitely increase purchasing power, but that is not enough. That is why I advocate a massive economic recovery package akin to Eisenhower's Interstate Highway endeavor and FDR's New Deal; 1.5 trillion in direct federal expenditures to revitalize the national infrastructure, especially our electrical grid, $120 billion in a national infrastructure bank; $80 billion in a green infrastructure bank; an increase in federal investments in R&D to the historic average of 3.5% of GDP, major healthcare reform (in the way of digitized records, single-payer health insurance, bundled payments to providers, and a possible public option for hospitals and clinics, like in England) to lower costs, education and tax reform, and an emphasis on bringing back manufacturing to the United States.
And I'm eager to hear what convinced you to support the politics of Dubya slapped with a different brand name...
And you've spent the entire campaign demonizing Democrats and progressivism and liberalism in general, opting to repeal the historic socioeconomic reforms of the New Deal and sending the United States back to the days of sweatshops, child labor, and large corporate trusts. I'm curious as to what makes you think the free market is perfect and capable of regulating itself, since that failed on a global scale after the financial crisis.

Memo to Girl: The function of business is to create profits. It’s primary responsibility is to its investors, shareholders and creditors. Now, before you tell me it has to be to the workforce, what will you invest in if the company doesn’t make any profit? How will your 401k, IRA, investment portfolio improve?
OK, will you PULEEEEEEZ tell me what an honest wage is? Is it just some random wage that you Liberals feel is fair”. If so, what is a “fair” wage, or even better, what you Libbies like to call, a “living wage”?
Is an honest wage, fair wage, living wage, or whatever convoluted name you want to call it enough to buy a 2,500 sq. ft. home or rent a 900 sq. ft. apartment?
Is it enough to buy a Ford Taurus or a Corvette?
Is it enough to go on vacation camping or a 2 week Caribbean cruise?
Is it enough to send your kids to an Ivy League University or to a public college?
Is it enough to go out to eat a couple times a week or just to cook at home?
Most importantly, who will decide what is a living wage, fair wage or honest wage? The unions? The government? Barrack Hussein? You? Me? The Pope?
Who is the perfect, honest, unbiased arbiter of fairness?
The question you need to ask yourself is, are you worth your wages and benefits?
If you are, you don't need a union to negotiate for you.
If you're not, you're the reason jobs get outsourced or offshored.
Dear newscover post 1.11
I think we should keep rubbing salt in the Republican wounds for a long as possible. After what they did to this country by destroying millions of American families because of their selfish ideology and greed they deserve no less.
The best thing that could happen in this country right now would be for the Republican Party and their rabid right wing attack dogs to go the way of the dodo. They contribute NOTHING to our society.
First of all, as a percentage of GDP our debt was MUCH higher at the end of WWII and we'd have had it all paid off years ago without the trickle down voodoo of the Republican Party.
Secondly, we aren't Greece. We're the largest economy in the world. OTHER GOVERNMENTS invest in our Treasury because it's the safest investment on the planet.
Finally, if you want to whine about the budget being unfunded whine to your friends in the Conservative Movement...they're the ones who insist that taxes always go down with no plan on how to pay for things afterward. (see "trickle down voodoo")
Freshieee:
Well, you gave it a shot and missed. I am a bit surprise I read your whole short story of a post.
Do you propose to lift the cap on SSA payouts as well? There should not be any tax on Capital Gains - it is a double tax burden. Business federal income tax: make it zero for all in country (USA) operations of USA owned firms. Replace the federal income tax code with a 10% national sales tax on all items except for food, pet food, healthcare, and a person's main residential - zero deductions. The sales tax applies to all people making purchases in the USA - citizens, aliens, tourist, businesses, and business people.
I enjoy that you are offering some solutions - even if I disagree with some of them.

Note that it was the deepest recession (5.1% decline in GDP) since the recession of 1945 (12.7% decline). If you want anyone to take you seriously, I suggest sticking to facts instead of making stuff up to fit your political philosophy. While you are at it, you may want to look up the definition of "socialism".

someotherguy: calling President Obama socialist is just so they don't have to say he's a NI$$ER. If the Republican hater is really adept, they say communist socialist, or black ni$$er. If they are real creative, they say Kenyan facist, communist, socialist; which translates to mother f*%^ng black ni$$er.
If you read the words enough, you see the racism behind them.
The only way the GOP will ever be ready to take control of the White House is if they purge their party of the hatred many of its member have for Americans and America.

ROTFLMAO!!!!
Fishy, I have read your convoluted Keynesian redistributionist nonsense. Your delusional world of more government is only eclipsed by your blatant disregard for our Constitution. When I read one of your posts and you claimed you would just get rid of the Constitution, your opinion was stamped invalid. Only an anarchist would want to disregard the greatest Constitution ever written. The only fault with our Constitution is that we have allowed Progressives to trample all over it for the past century and now our economy is collapsing because of it.
When you start your first “plan” as having the federal government funding a larger share of the education budget, your argument is moot. It’s because we allowed the federal government to intrude into our education system, first under Health Education and Welfare (HEW) and then with the creation of the Department of Education, that we have seen the collapse of our education system. Then you double up on the nonsense by increasing Pell Grants, college aid and funding for public colleges. This is exactly why the corrupt colleges and universities keep raising their tuition rates. As long as you keep giving the students free money the schools will keep raising their tuition rates.
Having said that, I’m still waiting for someone, anyone, to tell me what BARRACK HUSSEINS plan for all these issues is. The claim of looking up Barrack Husseins plan is a lie. Nowhere does it explain HOW he will achieve any of his irrational policies. There never was a feasible plan, because everyone was too preoccupied with contraceptives for college sluts, Big Bird, pushing grandma off a cliff and binders. The deflection worked to perfection and we still have now presentable platform for Barrack Hussein.
This is the tragedy of Liberalism and the fawning media that allows this subordination.
AlexM-3929653 Just curious, are you on medications?
I have acid reflux, that's about it. Why are you?
It's funny to see people bash Bush and praise the first term of Obama when Obama is the equivalent of Bush.
How did Obama handle the economy in his first term, by running the Republican playbook. He extended the Bush tax rates, and cut other taxes (like the payroll tax).
It's humorous to listen to Obama praise his economic policies, yet bash Romney for being an extension of Bush, when Obama himself is that extension.
If those 'Bush tax policies' are so bad, why did Obama embrace them for 4 years so far?
If 4 years when there is MORE poverty and MORE unemployment and MORE wasted funds .. you people who support obama can pat yourself on the back and congrat yourself for a job well done and you have no one to blame but obama and his anyi american way of thinking
Good job!!! way to go!!! Can't blame Bush anymore!!! oh wait .. I am sure you will find others to blame .. of course, you gotta protect your golden child

Spencer, If you want Libby's advice, then I would suggest for you to address your letter to Libby Scooter in Federal jail. If you want addressing the liberals or the progressives on the vine, then perhaps some of us may understand you better, because code words such as neo-cons, wing nuts, knuckler dragger, teaPotty are so passe....
Unlike the Republicans, I believe the Democrats are much more diverse in their opinions. Here are mine;
1. Education - It is a state case. It is something that the Federal government can set benchmarks, but nothing much beyond that. Student loans should be addressed, but it must arrise from the House. Since the House is constrolled by the Republicans, there is very little to be expected to be started.
2. Taxes - tax has been working for the previous 70 years of this century. It should still work. The problem has been re-investment by businesses in the past 20 years. It has been profitable to take profit out from the companies than to let it re-invest in itself. I would love to see heavier taxes levied on profit taking on dividents, stock bonus, security profits, and other securities loopholes. Income tax cut should be eliminated. Income tax should be rolled back to pre Bush years for start... Unfortunately, I don't believe the Security friendly Congress will have enough fortitude.
3. Regulations - you are an idiot. President Obama is not a King. He does not rule the country. He can only sign Bills that are put before him. If you want regulatory measures, then speak to your Congressman.
4. Unions - they will never be corporate responsible. What kind of stupid question is that? Unions are responsible to the entities that form them... If you're referring to labor unions, then the Unions will be fully responsible to their members. Corporations are there to be responsible to their investors. There is not a crossing over of responsiblity. If the corporation need the union, and vice versa, then they should negotiate to an agreement and then enter into a contract.... It is that simple. This is not something that government should get into, unless it endangers the American citizens.
5. Energy - Pretty disrespectful! It should be clear. We are clearly trying to be more energy independent. So don't know what the F do you want? It is already projected that we're will be the largest Crude producer by 2015. Our current #1 export is gasoline. So what the F is the question? Apparantly you're not impressed by the new cars that coming in at well over 30mpg, which was claimed by Bush administration to be impossible...
6. Medicare/Medicare Part-D: Apparantly, you're a moron. Part D is the responsiblity of that of the senior and them alone. That is passed under Bush with the help of your favorite insurance companies. Current law will help fill the doughnut that Part-D and the medicare does not cover. If you have any brain cell, you would have checked your cost before and after part-D. My parents pay an average of extras $163 per person after Part-D took place. You want it out? You need to talk to your Congressman. In your case, don't talk, becuase you don't even know what you're talking about.
7. Jobs - Now that is interesting... Why the F are you asking the Federal government about jobs? You know Federal Government doesn't create jobs!!!! Heck, people like you have been trying to hammer that in all 4 years!!!! Now you want solution???? Where the heck were you when the economy was going down the tube? Where where you when the corporation shipped jobs out? AND NOW YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO LIST JOBS AS YOUR LEAST IMPORTANT QUESTION??? Jobs will come back when companies feel more comfortable to expand. The expansion will come if and only if the economy is stable and growing. The next question is how fast? Well.... given the current situation, I would suspect that the eonomy will grow at a rate of 3%, which means that the unemployement rate will decline by about 1% if our birth rate hold or declines.
The great leader of the Democaratic party Nancy said last night whenasked if a deal could be struck to avoid the finacial cliff. She said " any proposal that did not include tax increases on the very wealthy will not pass. any proposal of closing loopholes that does not include tax increases for the wealthy will not pass. any proposal to cut spending that does not include tax increases on the wealthy will not pass/ Other than that we are open to compromise.
The problem is this has been the problem since 2010. EVERY PROPOSAL from the president has had the demand of increased taxes on the wealthy. The result is they have been voted down or fillibustered. This is not compromise. This is Obama being unwilling to compromise for the good of the country. He has no clue how to get things done because he is so self rightious that is it his way or no way.
4 more years of the same garbage and the sad thing is i don't think our economy can withstand that much more lack of leadership.
And I have read your boneheaded plutocratic bull@!$%#. You have no understanding of the condition of the American people before Progressivism; before great leaders like Teddy and Franklin D. Roosevelt, we had antiquated roads, sweatshops, child labor, monopolies, and bank runs every few years. I don't give a damn about your free-market fantasies; even Adam Smith himself said that the government had a role in caring for the needy and for parts of the economy. And by the way, John Keynes was not a liberal; he was a moderate conservative. Compared to his contemporaries, many of whom had lost faith in capitalism, he was a conservative seeking to preserve the virtue of capitalism and democracy. The ONLY reason why he was a liberal was because he sought to save capitalism by destroying the cancerous tumor that is laissez-faire economics, in which the government was helpless while the economy collapsed and the people suffered immensely.
First of all, I'd love to see the post that stated that I wanted to get rid of the Constitution (I assume I may have made a statement about the fight over the Constitution, but not about supporting it's elimination). Secondly, the United States Constitution is not the greatest one in the world; it is very vague concerning the separation of church and state, for example, leading to the supposed wall becoming little more than a line of chalk. But it has worked for 230+ years; all you need to do is amend it, to make it applicable to modern times. And thirdly, why the hell do you right-wing extremists worship that document??? It is not perfect; nothing that is the product of mortals is. The Founding Fathers had their faults, you know: Ben Franklin was a womanizer, Thomas Jefferson was a slaveholder, John Adams was a virulent anti-Catholic and had a large distrust of the French (the very people who helped save our asses). They are not gods; any man, Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative who says so is an idiot.
You cannot equivocate two events that happened at roughly the same time as a causality. They need to have a correlation. Ever since the Cold War, the federal government has funded our nation's education system, which was at the time the best in the world. The problem is not more government intervention, but a lack of it. For decades, our education system has declined due to a lack of reform and modernization. While the rest of the world sought to improve their education systems and took a few of our examples and invested their resources in meaningful education revamps, we spent our resources on tax cuts for the rich and defense buildups. We focused on the wrong priorities and lacked the will to change our system, instead denying the problem and then accusing the feds of mishandling things when in fact most of the power lies with the states and local governments. As for college, there are several reasons for the inflating costs besides college aid (which does not necessarily distort the market), among them the fact that college has essentially become a panacea for getting a good job in America. We could bicker about the effects of Pell Grants on tuition rates, which is moderate at best, or the effects of federalizing the education system, but if you want education reform, the feds need to have a bigger role in its administration. Whether its via school choice, vouchers, charter schools, or more teachers is debatable, but the fact remains that the feds need to reform the system if we are ever going to have a chance of retaining our competitive edge in the world. You try persuading 50 legislatures to reform education in a uniform manner all at once...
Alright then, I'll show you Obama's plan. For education, he would prefer a revamp of the education system via state-based initiatives like Race to the Top, and would support charter schools, increased funding, and more teachers. For taxes (and deficit-reduction in general), chances are he would endorse something close to Simpson-Bowles, although I doubt he would support cutting tax rates for the top-end of the economic spectrum. Medicare would probably have some cuts via retirement age increases and perhaps increased payroll taxes and premiums, and Social Security would be saved via an increased retirement age and an increase in the payroll cap, perhaps to $250,000 or $500,000. Unions would pretty much stay the same for the medium term; job creation would increase due to a growing recovery in the housing and labor markets. Yet a full recovery would need a combination of stimulus and long-term deficit reduction to restore confidence to the consumer, increase demand, and placate businesses. Regulations would continue to grow, most likely. Green energy would continue to be subsidized and aided via tax breaks and grants (just like we did with oil and gas, which are doing very good right now, by the way, and just like we did with railroads in the mid-1800s).
No; this is the tragedy of a backward, Social Darwinist philosophy that worships the employer, demonizes the employee who dares to ask for better wages and working conditions, scapegoats the government for society's ills, and advocates a massive Ponzi scheme to siphon as much wealth toward the wealthy. Unfortunately, our media cannot expose this monster, not because it is partisan, but because it is afraid to attack one party or the other for it's misdeeds in the fear of being denigrated as partisan and biased by the other side. Jim Spence, you have spent all your time here bitching about the problems of Progressivism and liberalism, but not once have you put forward a plan to rectify your qualms. So why don't you come up with something, anything, to solve our problems and make America great again. I gave you the President's plan; now it's time for you to give me yours.

NBER is NOT a widely referenced source for any economic data. The most recent USA recession was from the fourth quarter FY2008 and ended the third quarter FY2009 - a total of four (4) quarters or 12 months. A recession is defined as two (2) consecutivelyquarters of negative (-) growth. FYI, I have one (1) college degree in Economics and the standard definition of a recession has not changed in over 100 years.

Don't just thank liberals, moderates, and all of the various people who came together to vote for Obama. We need to thank Anonymous and The Protectors too - because this time the republicans weren't able to get away with stealing the election. After Mitt's son Tagg was busted trying to buy the voting machines that were to be used in Ohio and four other states (through Solamere Mitt, his wife Ann of the Thousand Paydays and Tagg owned the seats and majority stock in Hart Intercivic based in Austin Texas. Hart was responsible for providing those machines - voting machines that were easily hacked.
The republicans had a plan ORCA - and it was pure Karl Rove all the way. And you'd better believe Mittens knew all about it. Before the election Anonymous posted a video on the net. It's still on YouTube. They warned Karl Rove - don't you even think about trying to steal this election. And they did try to steal it. The Protectors were the ones who stopped them. Two months before the election they told Turdblossom they were monitoring his digital traffic. They were watching him like a hawk. Apparently, Turd was so arrogant, he thought his little computer wizards were smarter than theirs.
The Protectors identified the digital structure of Turd's whole operation - and ORCA - which supposedly was a republican get out the vote application. Through open doors in the system they created The Great Oz - a password protected firewall. Oz was installed on the servers Turd planned to use on election night to re-route and change the election results from three states (most likely Ohio, Virginia and Florida).
Turd and his band of merry thieves launched ORCA Killer at 10 am EST. Throughout election day The Protectors watched ORCA crash and fail repeatedly. Turd's scum bag computer techs tried 105 times to penetrate The Great Oz through passwords and other means. The Protectors finally issued a warning to Turd - Do it again, and they were going to turn over all of the evidence to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
It all crashed and burned. On Election Night Turd was working those three states - Ohion, Florida and Virginia, but whenever he tried to access the Ohio election website - he kept getting error messages. Ohio was called around 11:30 PM EST for Obama. Turdblossom, as you well know, immediately began to dispute the call claiming the election was far from over. He'd been predicting a republican landslide.
Through the poll workers, Project ORCA was meant to provide Mittens campaign with real-time turnout data so they could re-direct sources throughout the day as needed. Instead, ORCA totally failed. The PIN numbers and passwords didn't work, customer support was ineffective or unavailable. The system crashed and had trouble re-booting.
Thanks to our favorite cyber-detectives, The Protectors, they prevented Turdblossom from manipulating those election results. He was attempting to stage a classic man-in-the-middle attack, the exact same kind of election fraud they committed in Ohio in '04. Mike Connell was the one who helped them out there. So, not only did the Oz firewall prevent Rove from flipping the election results, The Protectors located a few flaws in the system, took advantage of them, and it basically created a domino effect that led the whole system to fail. Rove and Project ORCA were most likely plugged into the same voter data base.
This is why I never put anything past the republicans.
I much prefer a fabricated war on women, class warfare and racial tension as a platform over Romney's well thought out transitional plans. I got my hand out O'bamaclause, please dont @!$%# on it!

Alright then, I'll show you Obama's plan.
Hmmmmmm,
From your “interpretation” of Obama’s plan the most anyone can glean is,,,,,
So, he would prefer,,,chances are he would,,,something close to,,,would probably have,,,perhaps to,,,blah, blah blah!
And what long-term deficit reductions would they happen to be Spanky?
You have identified nothing but possibilities, guesses and conjecture.
THERE IS NO PLAN!!!!!!!
You Libbies have been demanding which loopholes Romney would eliminate for months yet Barrack Husseins whole platform was built around grandiose ideology and some convoluted "fairness" that no one can define, without any concrete positions on any of his policies.
You spent the whole campaign deflecting any of his policies by demonizing anything Romney said or did and yet today, 13 days after the election, you STILL CAN’T FACTUALLY STATE HIS POSITION ON ANYTHING!!!!!!
Of course we know his adolescent class-warfare and envy meme against all those mean, nasty, spooky, fat-cat, rich bogeymen rang loud and clear to you Libbies. Of course it did. It’s always easier to promote mediocrity rather than advance exceptionalism. This is what statists do. It’s always easy to tell people the best they can do is just be average, i.e. middle class, instead of promoting achievement and success.
Of course not everyone can be rich or successful but the job of a leader is to promote that as many people as possible can be. It’s not to demonize the rich and then in the same breath tell them they are responsible for taking care of the rest of the world. Wealth and success is achieved not given to you. If you expect people to just give you more money, entitlements, social programs and other freebies you have no reason to improve, your ambition is slowly stripped and your dependency grows.
This is why I put education at the top of the list of what will be done with it. All the other wonderful ideologies and promises for the other issues mean absolutely nothing if you have a growing illiterate electorate. You can defend our criminal public education system, along with its corrupt union backing, all you want. It is a failure. It’s a typical bloated dysfunctional bureaucracy that is more concerned with the teacher strike outcomes rather than our children’s academic achievements. The statistics don’t lie. We spend more than anyone, other than Switzerland, and we rank in the bottom of all other OECD countries in the most important reading, math and science subjects.
As much as you will disagree with me, Liberalism/Progressivism has been nothing more than “Bread and Circuses” on steroids. Whenever someone simply complains that he or she can’t survive the nanny state absorbs them and gives them more “stuff”. As Reagan stated, “Welfare’s purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence”.
So, anyway, I’m still waiting for ANYONE to tell me what Barrack Husseins positions are on the above issues. Don’t feel bad when you can’t express them, he doesn’t have any. I just wanted to see if anyone would at least give it a try.
I commend you on your effort but even you proved my point.
Thanks.
All the nagging and such aside, I can see why they'd want Mitt Romney at the reigns. First and foremost he's a business man. For all intents and purposes, we need a business man, not a charity worker, to head our country up. But at the same time, we DON'T need one that's going to worry about lining him, and his friend's, pockets. A lot of the people up there aren't the ones that built their empires, or did it in ways of screwing everyone they met over. More money was never enough, being profitable was a joke to them. They wanted more, it was more about status, less about succeeding.
I went for Obama because he seemed like the one less to go on a religious crusade, and more to focus on the needs of the people. What I don't believe in doing is making everything free, I'd rather have it AFFORDABLE. The problem ISN'T the fact it costs something, it's the cost of the item in question. It's too damn much. Health care costs too much, gas costs too much, the very staples of our living are going up, up, up, and no one seems to be able to drag them down, so instead we're handing it out, rather than driving the prices back down.
As for the War on Races, Sexuality, and Women? Fear is the platform that the Republicans ran on. The fact of the matter is, there are SO MANY brilliant people in the Republican camp, but they swing religion and terror around, and they want things that are advantageous to them. It's the same for welfare. They want people that would be advantageous to them. Free stuff is free stuff. So it's the Free Free People vs. the More Money More Money Companies. They both suck, and yet they could both get what they want if they'd just STEP FORWARD, meet at the table, and drive prices back down to create demand.
Ask the company "Valve" about sales on Steam, and the massive amount of money making games affordable can generate. Now apply that affordability to common day products. People will stop clinging to every dollar they have, and start buying again. Win Win. It's greed on both ends that's hurting us.
One should think that by time obama is done screwing our nation in his second term we wouldn't have another dem pres elected for at least 50 yrs, however; that wont happen as obama being re-elected shows that there's more idiots willing to screw our nation then there are sane people.

You are soooo correct. I am glad I am a member of the B Club and can fly away at any time.
All dressed up and nowhere to go. Kinda reminds me of a spinster with a cherry so old the pit went soft.
Just a few observations:
1) This Internet thing is tricky. The whole world can see your posts. This means that if you iron your family laundry on the Internet, the whole world becomes privy to your private family issues. Right now, we (from all over the world) all understand that many (most? too many?) White Americans hate Black people, and are willing to destroy their own country just to hurt Black people. In the process, you may be making enemies of Black people worldwide. Of course, today, Black people do not have the weapons to fight back. But, what about tomorrow? Any rate, do you really need to have all of them as enemies when you already have most of the Arabs against you?
2) America is asking other countries to believe in Democracy. I personally believe that Plato needs to revisit this Democracy thing because the population to be governed has become too heterogenous (what with women, Blacks, Browns, Yellows, and Corporate Entities who now believe that they have a say). However, this broken Democracy thing is still far better than anything else on the horizon. Therefore, won't you pretend to believe in the Democratic process (at least in public forums), so that other countries may believe you when you preach Democracy to them?
3) The World doesn't need any more wars. And the World could do without another Financial meltdown. Give the World time to heal before your next big event.
Really??? Liberals abhor achievement and success??? Then how the hell did the son of a mixed racial couple born in a lower-middle class single-parent family someday achieve the honor of becoming the President of the United States??? Don't give me that anti-achievement crap; if you right-wingers gave a damn about achievement and success, you'd realize that giving tax cuts for the rich DOES NOT promote either. I am amazed by your myopia, but then again, why should I.
The old welfare queen argument??? Most people on entitlements are either poor or elderly. And I highly doubt people are deciding to not work and miss out on $50-60,000 jobs just to get a welfare check totaling $15,000??? Economically, that is a stupid deal.
I am not defending the public education system; I admit it's flaws and faults. However, I refuse to believe that we have to privatize our education system or kowtow to the notion that the federal government can't do anything right. I admit that we spend too much on education; that is why I don't favor massive spending increases in education. You have to admit that we need to increase national control in order to get the damn system fixed.
Reagan was a right-wing @!$%# whose policies are the EXACT SAME policies that failed during the Great Depression, aka low taxes for the rich and a laissez-faire economic policy. He promoted a policy that almost destroyed the economy, and all his policies have done is transfer wealth to the rich. I thought you were against wealth redistribution; how can you not be against transferring wealth from the bottom to the top but rage vigorously when it is moved from top to bottom??? Reagan and Margaret Thatcher knew NOTHING about economics; it's a miracle that they are still used as a model for future policies.
I stated his proposals correctly. Those are his policies. If you don't believe me, look them up. But if you're too lazy to do that, whatever. May God have mercy on the Republican Party, for history and the American people will not.
It's funny how little Republicans can remember history. They can't even remember President Obama then running for his first term as President and stating that he will work bi-partisan to make sure any laws passed would work for both sides. Even though the Democratic Senator's did not like it, he kept his promise and tried for 2 years. What he did not count on was the GOP getting together on basically his first day and agree to try and make him a one term President. Even so, he still tried to walk both sides of the party lines because he thought that is what a President should do, not be for just one side. Finally after two years of trying he gave up and decided to do what he needed to do. Oh I should point out that even then, he got the "Obama Care" enacted. So not sure why Republicans feel it is important to keep bringing up his first 2 years of office. Only makes them look bad for not taking advantage of a good deal when it was offered.
Bali Bob
...pulled together by the GOP nominee's team and no longer of any use...
Forward huh Mr. Obama supporter? So what we got exept some cute faces and NOTHING from POTUS. Forward into more joblessness and rhetoric + spending...in about 3 years you're gonna be eating your own.
Brenda, you're up still trying to debate? Go back to bed sweety, maybe tomorrow in school they will teach you the difference between Physics and Civics
bigdogg464
Don't know were you went to school, I guess history was not taught there. January of 1929 republican H Hover was inaugurated into office. The Great Depression started on October 24 of 1929. Black Tuesday on October 29 1929. 1933 Roosevelt took office and used deficit spending to break the depression. 1936 Roosevelt stopped the deficit spending and the country slid back into a recession. 1938 more deficit spending restarted the economy. in 1939 the depression was over.
In 1932 there were 55 tax brackets with the top rate at 63%. 1936 to 1941, 31 tax brackets with top bracket at 79%.
The Low Ball number of the debt GW Bush racked up must have been pulled from someplace deep and dark.Bush added almost 6 trillion to the debt plus the un-funded wars and the un-funded prescription drug program. Those items were added to the debt by Obama in January of 2008. 45 seconds on Bing gave me all the facts and figures, you should try it some time.
GOPisextinct said "Subjugate working America into slave labor camps like China"
I truly believe that is what he would have done or at least try to do since his number one focus is how to make more money.
To me, Romney is a communist sympathizer since he admires China's way of running a business.
@joethelib - apparently Bing does not work!
It's Hoover, not Hover.
Obama wasn't President until January 2009.
The debt grew ~$4.9 trillion during the 8 GWBush years (from $5.7 to $10.6). There is nothing low-ball about it. The president (Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc.) does not yield control in the reporting of the debt level, they can't hide it.
Kornfed,
Just like O'Reilly blaming the media and voter fraud you need to get in touch with reality and cut down on the overdosing on FOX!
DG_W; sure, rub it in that your State legalized weed while I suffer with Jan Brewer in the land of dimwits...@!$%#...lmao.
I'm against the pipe line due to the fact that we can not control what is put into the pipeline while it is north of our borders. They could send a Nuke through there and it could detonate in the US. This is not even talking about the environmental effects it will have in the US.
ridin the barack express
Ill admit my brain was moving faster than my fingers could type. You don't seam to understand, Fiscal Budgets run from September to September. The Bush budget ran to September 30 2009. Yes that's inside Obama's term but it was Bushes budget and Debt. 5.8 T September 01 to 11.9 T on September 09, Nice try though.
Neener neener neener!
Hey...yesterday was Dumas's birthday...
Well all I can say is when this country goes to H-LL because of Obama's destructive policies, (and sooner or later it will) anyone who voted to re-elect him has no one to blame but themselves. You won't be able to blame this impending mess on the Republicans. I so look forward to saying to all of you, "I told you so". The 2016 elections can't come soon enough for me!
Ah well, those grapes are sour anyway, aren't they amerigal?
@amerigal, I don't mind being critisized but I don't mind it if it is said respectfully. On the issue of 2016 I do see another Democratic leader from 2016-2024.
Amerigal-----Impending mess? You need to tell that to John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. The current mess we are in falls directly in the lap of the whining Republicans. If they do not see the handwriting on the wall and get something done in Congress, the next election cycle will be even more sour grapes for you. As for the 2016 election, the party of political irrelevance (GOP) can look forward to another azz kicking. Get ready for Hillary!
Since everything you wrote is a pack of right wing lies that has been debunked so many times its no longer funny it is an entire waste of good space Amergirl
In 2016 we take the house back also along with expanding in the Senate and a new Democrat in the WH.
i guess you are in upper 5%tax bracket or the indoctrination they gave you at the kool-aid stand really has stayed in your head, seems to me you are what they call an againster, get over it or move from this country, just go.
Hey amerigal, I thought we were going to be Greece by now? I was looking forward to the ancient architecture! You losers sure know how to play the part!
although Americans are NOT READY FOR ROMNEY, this election is still very significant...
history is made with the first Mormon presidential candidate...and the first African American President getting 2 terms. In America..you can be all you want to be....
.
FORWARD...
I can just see amerigal checking the mail box and wondering why the checks from Sheldon Adelson and the Koch brothers stopped two weeks ago.
Hey, Total @ 2.9...are you also expecting a check from Adelson too? R U disappointed when you didn't? Time to move out of your protective shell..and move into a pig's new cloth? Who doesn't want free money...But Adelson's money is R-money..a.k.a.Romney
Lets not forget the elections in 2014, that will be Americas chance to take back control of congress.
@amerigal, I must agree with you. I am very interested in what the muslim can get done in the next 4 years. Can he totally divide the country, provide citizenship to all the illegals, drive all the successful people out of the country through taxes and manage to get elected another 4 years. Yes we can......
2016 is going to go just like 2012 unless the GOP does a complete turnaround.
If you still haven't figured it out, Republicans are certain to lose again nationally because the only voters they can reliably appeal to are old white men. Is there any future in that? Look around at the elderly in your community. Older women outnumber older men by a sizeable margin. The old white men who voted for Romney might not even be alive in four years.
Middle class voters are tired of the handouts given to the wealthy and to the corporations. We want good public education, healthcare and a safety net in old age. The GOP wants to make the U.S. a jungle where survival of the financially fittest is the rule. They can't get the majority of voters to agree to that.
Those who have traditionally been considered 'minorities' are poised to become the new majority. Republicans have alienated, dismissed and marginalized that population. Don't forget that women are a majority of the voting-age population, and Republicans want to lock women into a perpetual second-class status.
This is a democracy. You have to be voted into office.
Do the math.
Oh Mike...
The Upper 5% are not complaining. There's a reason.
ObamaCare.
In any crime in the United States, follow the money. Who stands to gain? We've now got a policy in place, which will take effect in 2014 that requires all Americans to carry thier employer's healthcare or pay the US government. So if the employer's healthcare cost is more then the employee can pay, they have to pay the US government 2014: Families––$285 or 1 percent of total household income, whichever is greater. Individual adults––$95, 2015: Families––$975 or 2 percent of income, whichever is greater. Individual adults––$325. 2016: Families––$2,085 or 2.5 percent of income, whichever is greater. Individual adults––$695.

Yes, this seems nice that we'll all have healthcare...but who stands to gain from it? As more and more people with preexisting conditions flood the market, Insurers will start showing a loss on the cost of insuring. Rates will go up through the roof. Spending on health care rose 4.6 percent in 2011 — up $4,500 per person, on average — according to the nonpartisan Health Care Cost Institute. That’s up from a 3.8 growth rate in 2010. Health insurance premiums for individuals and families also climbed year-over-year, up 3 percent ($186) on average for an individual and 4 percent ($672) on average for a family, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation
This was all found under a story on ABC.com under Rising Health Costs Undermine Obama Pledge to Curb Trend (sorry NBC, you didn't have an article). So again, I ask the question...Monetarily, who gains? Follow the money. It will be the US government and Insurance Underwriters. Why do you think supergazillionaires like Warren Buffet are saying "go ahead and tax me..." while buying up Wells Fargo stock? He's no dummy. Get ready for the next great fleecing. But don't worry, your MedicAid won't be messed with until that pannel gets done telling you what services you can or cannot have.
Ahh, the freedom to pursue Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happiness. Where have you gone?
We sure can blame the Republicans for a mess in the next 4 years if all they do is obstruct any meaningful change...the HOUSE is in charge of the purse-strings, so just try and keep blaming Obama...the country voted him back in because they clearly saw what Congress did the past 2 years...NOTHING
Obama Care is here to stay. Hopefully, it will lead to universal health care.
Romney
PLUTOCRAT&TEABAGGERRyan would have DESTROYED America and what's left of its realWORKING CLASS HERO'S!
JD - I have no health insurance and I'm too young for Medicare. I have pre-existing conditions and have tried to buy health insurance to no avail.
All my health care costs are currently out-of-pocket. I have asthma, so I need two inhalers, in order to breathe well. One costs $80 and the other costs $200.
If I wake up in the middle of the night and have difficulties breathing, even with the inhalers, then I need to go to the ER. Much to your chagrin, I'm sure, I have no desire to die. I have a family and friends who would be upset if that happened.
Since I have no insurance, the hospitals cannot turn me away and must treat me. A hospital stay, plus ER costs, etc., will run up to the thousands of dollars. Since I can't pay, someone has to. I can declare bankruptcy, but the hospital is stuck with the costs. Where do you think they'll get the money? They either write it up as a loss or they increase their costs for people, like you, and insurance carriers.
Is that fair? No, it is not. At least with "Obamacare" - funny, but Mitt's health plan was the basis for it - I can purchase health insurance, even with pre-existing conditions, just like everyone else. I, for one, am not the only person who worries, constantly, that I am one serious illness away from death. This will benefit everyone.
Just wait and see how much this will cost you. I am speaking in money and quality of care. Obamacare is the wrong answer.....
Amerigal, I'm sure the bumper sticker's are already being printed that say: "..Don't blame me, I voted for Romney..." It's happened after every election for the last 50 years. I'm sure there's one with your name on it. It gives the losers some comfort, I guess. OR, the losers could actually drop the partisanship, roll up their sleeves and work together with the President to make this a fairer, more prosperous and better country---naw, you Republicans would never, ever consider doing that, would you?...
The current mess we are in falls directly in the lap of the whining Republicans.
Yep, democrats had nothing to do with it. Reid doesn't have ANY bills on his desk (or trash can) that he blocked from the house.
The current mess falls on this administration and this congress, both parties, equal responsibility.
Obama Care is here to stay. Hopefully, it will lead to universal health care.
It will lead to an extreme lack of doctors, health insurance premiums that kill the working middle class, the killing of my parents, and a crashing health industry.
"You'll be able to keep your existing health insurance, but you won't be able to afford it."
cintra, Obama is not the wrong answer ,he is the ONLY answer.
Blah, blah.....I hate Obama....blah........
Same old same old from the right.
Got any plans for the fiscal cliff yet?
The fact is that Romneycare is working pretty well in Mass. Since Romneycare was the model for Obamacare, I think that we will all benefit nicely.
I wonder how many jobs Obama will send overseas with his anti-business policies? Hostess will either go to a non-union U.S. company or to Mexico. Will others follow? Time will tell.
You know, sour grapes dont make good w(h)ine
Benghazi Witch hunt is nothing but BS, lets get the killers and stop with the political games, the Election is over ( Mike Rogers R-Mich ) should be ashamed of himself, he knows this is nothing more then trying to dig up dirt in the middle of a desert. The GOP should desert this silly witch hunt and start worrying about the American Economy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hostess screwed itself years ago, when it did nothing and Little Debbie cashed in on its markets, and then did nothing when the obesity epidemic was announced, or organics went mainstream. It did virtually nothing to advance itself, and then paid out its executives massively big bucks to apparently hide cash from its creditors before going into Chapter 11.
On another subject, Kris1234-3592742 has the right of it. Many of us can't afford insurance or get on insurance or get jobs that have insurance benefits.
amerigal, your satire is too much! Looks like some folks actually believe your over-the-top posting was serious. Of course, there are people out there who consider such thoughts as legitimate.
Thanks for the laugh. You captured the essense the right wing hysteria perfectly.
@Elk
You are wrong, hostess did do something. The owners and management went from no debt after their LAST bankruptcy and racked up over $700 million dollars of debt on a company worth only $450 million at best. A true conservative would call that "Buying more house than they could afford", but I can see that all the right wing can do is blame the union rather than see the whole picture of what went wrong.
I see Democrats are already practicing their 2014 and 2016 campaign slogans. I mean nobody thought it would just take one Democrats president to solve the huge Problems Republicans left right? We need to elect Democrats for the next two decades for them to have any hope of getting a good economy.
I'd like to get a peek at the list of who or which businesses and labor unions received Obamacare waivers?
When I read some of these right wing posts, I'm reminded of how much brain damage is caused from watching Fox News..... You people should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and join the rest of us in the REAL world.
I would like to hear a Democrat justify this - my daughter has a friend who voted for Obama. When she was asked why, she said it was because she was a single mother and with Obama she got $105,000 taken off her mortgage loan. She was laughing while she said this and then got in her new Mercedes and drove away.
And for her and people like her, Obama wants to take even more money away from us when my husband is working 10 hour days now. Because of this prick and people who voted for him now my husband gets to put in those hours and work 5 months of the year for the Federal Government so that Obama can take that "free money" and give it to people who didn't lift a finger to earn it.
Come on, tell me how this is right.
YankeeBoy - you are a fool. I bet you anything you don't own a business and you give little to nothing to charity or help groups. You want to shoot your mouth off and make "other people" be responsible because you are yourself incompetent. Yeah, the epitome of the "good citizen".
Every night since the election I pray that I never hear the name Mitt Romney again. Unfortunately Republicans will be beating this dead horse for as much news print as possible for months to come. They have to get something for the almost 1.8 billion dollars they spent trying to get this loser elected.
BTW: Post 1.8 written by GOPisextinct, pretty much spells out what the true Romney agenda was; It's worth a look.
Amerigal/There is a saying, which goes something like this. Be careful which side of the tree you are on when cutting off a branch. The fall might be painful.Which country do you reside in? Have a good day.
Politico = Divide this Nation
GOP = Loooooserrrrs
GOP = You just got knocked the F**K OUT.
You lost and the progressives won. Now take your head out your azz and pull your big girl and big boy shorts up.
Ooops are you having a hard time pulling your pants up? Now keep them down like the dumb azz you are and watch the progressives give you another butt F**KING. That way we can get rid of the lot of you.
Children, childran, children...
such ignorant, blaming, name-calling, bumper-sticker sloganeering, and just plain stupid comments flooding the board today!
I prefer to look at actual facts, not conjecture, thank you very much, that the real world inconveniently provides so that we as students of history are not destined to repeat the fallacies of "progressivism" (statism, liberalism, soft tyrannies, etc).
Please note that the fundamental greatness that is America, and what has made us the beacon for the free world, is chiefly due to the brilliance and foresight of our great founders, and the Constitution they drafted. In a world populated by monarchies, dictators, unstable and uncivil rulers, and anarchy, the United States, imperfect though it is, is the most admired (and envied) nation in the world.
And now, after one hundred years of progressive tampering, we have truly reached a tipping point where, in spite of all our lessons learned, we have a genuine welfare class majority.
Welfare, in the sense of a caring, compassionate safety net has evolved into a monsterous "entitlement" mentality wherein hapless, hopeless masses weaned on government largesse know no other way of life. Gone are the pillars of education, discipline, self-reliance, hard work, charity, and creativity, replaced by "something for nothing". The extraordinary history and accomplishments we made as a nation were people who, individually and collectively, sacrificed and took risks because in America you were free to pursue your dreams, not squelched by caste system, or by a government that believes it is entitled to the fruits of your hard work.
Now we have hundreds of thousands of pages of federal, state, and local regulations, and the tax code requires a Masters degree to interpret. The brilliance of our constitution is that it was to LIMIT the government, not eliminate it. How well have we adhered to that guiding principle?
Some, no doubt, are fearful of freedom....particularly those with an elitist, holier-than-thou attitude toward their fellow citizens or with a hunger for power and control. For far too many, success is an alien concept....their lives tragically absent positive role models of parents, teachers, neighbors, classmates, friends. They instead find their inspiration in social and political "leaders" who promote an "us-versus-them" mentality, dividing rather than uniting, those quick to blame others for life's problems. They have successfully characterized those who have achieved admirable success into demons who only rise if somebody else falls. They are a cancerous growth on the very people they claim to be helping.
To those who, in their inner core, believe more and bigger government is the answer to our problems, I ask: where are all these "angels" you speak of that will save us? Since government, like business, is composed of a group of human beings, what makes those you worship in government any more immune to greed, waste, fraud, abuse, sloth, dishonesty, unlawfulness, or the myriad of other human failings than leaders in business, education, faith, or other fields of endeavour?
Unfortunately, the history of the world is ripe with evidence that turning our government into a pan-european light-socialist model will only foster the same kinds of problems now experienced in Greece, Spain, France, and to a lesser extent, Great Britain. These countries are in real trouble. They promised a statist "utopia", but found out that they have too many "takers" and too few "producers", and the governments there can't print more money to patch over the basic faulty premises. Same holds true within our own borders: one need only observe the disasters-in the-making from left-leaning Illinois and California.
Too many political hacks have made too many promises of freebies and goodies to an eager and gullible populace. It often takes years for the consequences of bad policy to reveal itself. We owe our citizens the promises made to them by people who are now retired from public service, living off a pension we the people so generously provide. But by abdicating our fiscal reponsibility, intruding on free market economic principles, and pandering to the "have-nots", we can no more blame a single president or party than we can our own gullible and ignorant selves...we have gotten the government we deserve.
What makes you think you'll win then either? You dopey repukes are always setting yourselves up for disappointment and failure. Too bad you can't just be a good citizen and let it go at that.
Hmmmm... good citizen. Define good citizen. Would this be someone who questions nothing, follows blindly, and oh yeah, says "Hey, where is my free crap. I deserve it because I breath."
What a waste...
The waste is people who believe the BS you just wrote. You people cannot tell the difference in "free stuff' and hard working people earning what they get go put on the dunce cap please.
Carl, What free stuff?
The only group wanting free stuff was the rich not wanting to pay their share of the tax burden.
For decades the right has promoted low taxes for job creators. Saying it will create jobs. The facts are, its been steady jobs losses. These companies dont care about jobs, they simply bank the extra profits. They dont deserve any tax breaks, because they give back nothing in return.
Perhaps we need tax breaks for jobs. Actually create the jobs, then you get a break. Otherwise pay up.
Giant and Left, we can probably save our breath on these people- we can already see all too plainly that "free stuff" is the newest Big Lie to be embraced by the Party of Obstruction, Evasion, Excuses and Blame. From late on the evening of Nov. 6th until ole Gabe step up for his trumpet solo, they'll be flogging the stupid and obvious lie that Romney had the election won, but then immigrants, welfare mothers, gays, and college students (all of these labels being another way to say non-white) were bribed with 'free stuff' to come out and throw the election to the Kenyan Socialist.
What free stuff, you're wondering? Don't bother... it was just days ago, I heard from a young (early 20s) woman on a jobsite that Obama's government allows immigrant families to choose from amongst foreclosed houses, lets them live tax-free for five years, and gives them a $50k interest-free loan to start a business.* And she didn't appear to be on drugs, either; just convinced that American (read:white) families were being turned out into the street so the President could front-load the voter rolls with future Democrats.
That, my friends, is the kind of aggressive stupidity we're dealing with. The best we can do is get busy on the 2014 elections and do our damnedest to turn the House decisively blue; win over young, misinformed Republicans one at a time; and learn to be very patient. The damage we're trying to repair goes all the way back to Reagan.
*When I was a young man, that exact same story was going around with Vietnamese and Eastern European immigrants cast as the recipients of this astonishingly generous largesse. Plus ca change...
Hey Carl, try to "breath," I dare you. Waiting. . . . . .waiting. . . . . .waiting. Now that you have turned purple and have fallen on the floor, try to "breathe."
True, Fox
"plus c'est la meme chose"
Fox Trotsky.....that should have been a top post. It summed things up nicely.
FoxTrotsky-
And here's the rub: The stupendous amount of money allowed by Citizens United DID have a very serious impact on this election. Had such vast amounts not been spent, at over 3:1 GOP over Democrats, the election would very likely had Obama by 65% and the House turned back over to blue.
But fear not: the next 2 years, the vast right wing think tank industry will learn enormous lessons from what spending worked and which strategies failed. Then, they will come back smarter and more vicious than ever.
Optimism is a really tough sell, right now.
"Good citizen" the way you describe it sounds like communism....Don't question the government or you will get in trouble!!!!
Hear, hear! And I love your moniker, Foxy! Care to dance?
@FoxTrotsky
The majority of the free stuff, to my knowledge, is up to the state. Here in Oregon, the free stuff is pretty much everything. The 'poor' people and illegals do get HUD, utilities paid, gas cards, food stamps, WIC, cash assistance, free phone, pretty much anything and everything they want.
While I have no problem helping the 'poor' people, I do have a problem with how 'poor' is classified and the zero oversight from the government (state/federal/local). I personally know people that take advantage of it. They lie that they're separated (not married), they lie about having native american in their blood, they hit the food banks/churches for free stuff, etc. Illegals? They shouldn't be here anyways.
The only reason there is more and more money spent on the 'war on poverty' is because the government doesn't keep tabs on those receiving it, they keep lowering the bar on who qualifies, and they just use it to buy votes (see last election).
Welfare (I refuse to call it entitlements) needs to be trimmed, but not what they get, trim WHO gets it. Make sure my tax dollars go to those truly in need. Cut the lady with eight kids off, cut the families who use EBT cards to get red bull and chips. Cut those that are work able. Cut the guy who drives a hummer that he put in his mom's name (course she drive a Cadillac and they both get gas vouchers).
'Freedom for everyone,' if Clinton and Obama wanted higher taxes, why didn't they increase taxes when they had control of both Houses? I believe it is that they know that increased taxes will slow the economy and they would have no one to blame but themselves when the economy tanked. Increased taxes to the upper financial class will be passed on in someway or another to the working class who already can't afford the lifestyle to which they had become accustomed. We must cut spending or we will be a Greece.
GOP battle plans, remove all the Tea Loonies from their party by 2014, problem solved or "DIE" !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alex M.
The free stuff?
How 'bout taxing wages at twice the amount of capital gains and dividends? How about taxing the purchase of food and clothing, but not taxing the purchase of stocks and bonds?
How 'bout building roads with taxes but not providing transportation for those who do not drive?
How about spending millions to protect expensive houses built on beaches that flood naturally and forests that burn naturally , but let city homes be flooded by broken man-made pipelines?
How about allowing the free destruction of natural water supplys by gas, coal and mineral extractors and wood harvesters while requiring the beer drinker to recycle his beer can?
How about allowing oil producers to sell their product for burning anytime anywhere, but not allow the homeowner to burn a single fallen fall leaf in his own yard?
Free stuff - welfare checks, food stamps, student loans forgiven, international debt not repaid, unemployment checks, etc.
The left wants money to give to people who do not earn it or exchange for it in any way. The right wants to keep more of the money they actually worked for. I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that taxes are a necessary evil. But how many months of his life should a man have to work for the government to pay those taxes? Should he be penalized because he is smart and capable and built a business? Should that mean he should work more for the entitlement mob than people who are incapable of creating something?
If you think that people don't deserve to prosper through hard work and determination but should be held to some arbitrary norm of existence, you have just killed the American dream. And I'm sure that the majority of people who vote Democrat are fine with that because they would never be able to attain that anyway.
Only a fool would not question the government. African American Slaves did.
The difference is people can see through the partisan reasoning behind the questioning.
The only reason the GWNJ's and the GNOP is going crazy is because President Obama is black.
And the majority of Americans are sick of it and voted him by quickly recognizing your bigotry and hatred towards him.
What a great collection of empty Conservative talking points, Seymour! Glenn Beck himself would be proud.
Obviously he was confident in his chances to have gone to so much effort in formulating a transition plan, BEFORE HE EVEN WON. But just as obvious, just over half the nation did not want him.
What isn't so obvious is why the media is making a story out of this, as it isn't exactly news. In fact this story is sort of non-news, as it's describing and reporting on what did not happen, in the real world at least...
Tea Party? Actually those members of of Government HAVE outspend they predecessors by a huge amount. How? They have "MANDATED" these expenses rather than attaching a direct cost to their projects. This way they can offer an excuse to their loyal subjects saying that they are doing their job of lowering Government Spending.
Seymour says
Taxes may be evil, but are not necessary. Everybody can build their own castles to defend themselves. Check out Somolia.
And if taxes are evil, then maybe you should just stop using the roads, start hunting and growing your own food on your own armed property and develope your own source of energy.
Hope you don't run out of clean water.
I'am sure glad it never happened!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God And Every one else!!!!!!
Look like it was a disaster in making.
Yes, I know. Having a plan is just terrible.
Pretending to have a plan is even worse - and all so typical for the goofy TeaPubs.
What makes "teapubs" goofy? Because they want government spending under control? Because they want serious actions, not fluffy rhetoric in addressing the countries egregious debt? Because they are the only ones who back up their beliefs with action? And yes, inaction is a form of action when others refuse to change the status quo. How about people like you stop your self righteous nonsense in attacking a group that was formed out of love and genuine concern for the direction of the country. You dont have to agree with them, but to resort to name calling merely shows your intellectual inability to reason for yourself, and instead tow the line of the ever so trust worthy liberal media.
Honestly, what makes tea party people SO CRAZY?
What makes SOME of the tea partiers so crazy is that they went WAY off the reservation and started getting into social issues that had NOTHING to do with getting this country back on track. Many Americans can and do agree with much of what they wanted, but then they got all self-righteous and thought that a few wins made them indestructable...this country is NOT interested in stopping people from exercising their personal rights.
Like which personal issues? Gay marriage? Well lets talk about that. The tea party says nothing about gay individuals not having the right to some sort of social contract akin to marriage, they simply do not want it called marriage.
Marriage \ n 1 a: the state of being married. b: the mutual relation of husband and wife : wedlock c: the institution whereby men and women are joined in a special kind of social and legal dependence for the purpose of founding and maintaining a family
That is what the DICTIONARY DEFINES marriage as, not the bible. Why is it that gay couples are so bent on calling it something that by definition, it is NOT. I personally find it embarrassing that as the light of freedom in the world, we are still having these conversations. People have the right to live their lives as they so choose, and gays should be afforded every single opportunity that everyone else get. However, they do not have the right to change the definition of a word because they believe not being able to use the word marriage is somehow discriminatory. I can call myself the POTUS, but by definition it is obvious I am not. You can call marriage as between any two people, but by definition, it obviously is not.
Yeah, that is a pretty self-righteous ideal. (sarcasm)
Back in the 50's the dictionary defined JET as BLACK...get with the times OLD WHITE MEN!
Actually, that was an adjective describing a version of black.
I am black, by the way, jet black.
Either way, we are arguing over the use of a word, not the intention behind it. Tea party people are not against gays having the same rights as married folks, only what they intend to call it. What is so self-righteous about that, the use of a particular freakin word?
Alex-6351 Does Freakin stand for @!$%#in...it's JUST A WORD!
Alex, well there is no such rights to anyone unless they're married. And you also remember Bachmann, she thought you could take the gay out of a person, just go to her clinic.
It wasn't a victory for the Mitt Romneys of the world. And whether you know it or not, that's a good thing for all of us. This country needs to evolve. It needs to change. Open minds are a beautiful thing. Acceptance and rainbow colors are what makes countries strong. That's where we are headed.
Old Mr. Rich Blind Ambition had to go. His victory website is a sad testament to a presidency that would have put us back in 1950. But Americans saw through his anti-choice, anti-gay, anti-poor rhetoric. They saw him for the opportunistic cynic that he really is, a man who set his sights on the presidency and didn't care what he had to say to get there.
America saw through that. His loss is proof that this country is great and that democracy works, and his "victory website"? Is like a sad relic from 1952. If they'd had the internet.
Yeah, we need to evolve with Democratic rule into a national debt in the quadrillions. There is no disputing the facts of the rising unemployment and escalating national debt over the last four years and we have only the monkey in the white house to blame. But I'm not saying he is a failure. Quite the contrary, he has been extremely successful in achieving his goals - the destruction of America and making sure this country is "nothing special". Mission accomplished.
The bush tax cuts are the biggest driver of the debt. Go look it up.
IF you ask the rich to pay there fare share and stop asking for free stuff we would be just fine.
Seymour/ You're respect for you're elected P.O.T.U.S. is difrint! I suggest that you try to buy a new brain as you have not done well with the one you were born with.
What that is interesting is what that is not in this article. Since his plan were set up as a Business, where are the details relating to the RAPING of Regulatory Agencies such as the EPA, FDA, OSHA, the CDC, etc.? How about plans to do away with the Fair Wage Law, the Voters Rights Act, dropping of Corporate Taxes and the Taxes of the upper 2%? These would be of utmost importance to Corporations, the 2%ers, and to the Libertarians within the Party.
Having work in a Fortune 500 Corporation, within the Corporate Structure, I feel that there is a great deal of "hidden" agendas that may never be revealed as that would end the Ultra-Right Wing's strangle hold on the Republican Party. For the Republican Party's sake and that of the Ordinary Citizen's, these "hidden" agendas must be revealed. And the sooner, the better.
This party and its pundits, are so far removed from reality. How could they possibly conceive that they were win the elections. I bet not a single minority or woman was going to be part of his cabinet or administration. They are still wondering what they need to do to win again. For one they need to irradicate that image they have of being racists, bigots, homophobes, chauvinists, a-holes and distance themselves from their main speakers (Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, etc, etc). But what do I know, I guess I got too much common sense to be talking about politics. Some of them have even suggested to attract even more of the white male vote. Someone needs to send them a memo, and inform them what this country's demographics are today and what the projected demographics will be in 4 years.
hey now, c'mon!!! I can assemble BINDERS full of eligible white males for you!..LMSDAO
That's the GOP's problem- they built their previous success by getting married to the TeaPart, racists and homophobes. Now, they can't get a divorce. Imagine how many votes they would get without that voting block. But the majority of americans will vote against nthat block.
AND - the audacity of them to think that we 47%ers and the rest of us would REALLY vote for these racists, fear mongerers, liars, and the like. HA HA HA. It just shows the arrogance of this party. I am still truly shocked that they truly truly truly thought they were going to win!!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Arrogance and bigotry and hatred and GREED can only get you so far in this world and thank you Lord that it didn't take them anywhere near the White House - AND HEVER WILL. This garbage they are now spouting about how they will change. THIS is the biggest joke of em all. All those good old boys spewing hate all over the internet and all these women being denied planned parenthood and abortions. Do they really think women will forget??? WE WILL NEVER FORGET AND THEY WILL NEVER DENY US THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT WE BELIEVE IS RIGHT FOR OUR OWN BODIES. WE HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS MEN AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT. GOOD RIDDANCE TO THEM ALL.
I am going to make sure no one forgets. Rethugs trying to put lipstick on a pig , but it is still a pig! Putting a tutu on a pig doesn't change it either. Talk is cheap. Last week, one of the gop govenors said, " we don't need to change our policies, just the way we explain it". ( conceal it ?) We already told you , we are not buying the junk you are selling. To see all these govs who wallowed in robme's rhetoric, now doing 180's is a joke. We, the people, are not stupid !
The only thing worse than Romney as President, would have been Ryan as President. What a nightmare to even imagine.
rapid...the only thing worse would be Lyin Joe Biden as president. I would like to see the completed plan that Obama keeps talking about to increase jobs by the millions, increase the value of our devalued houses and heal the economy. Where is it?
Your not too up to date on the GOP are you? The Republicans actually had to talk democrats into voting for the civil rights amendment. Check and see where women have been posted in both parties administrations as well as in cabinet posts. Just saying that you should take a look beyond your hatred and anger. Read for yourself about people and issues from various sources before you start spewing the dribble of some networks.
I see where the demographics are today. The blacks and hispanics are increasing their numbers . Soon they will be able to do to this country what they have done with Central and South America and Africa. Funny how not one of those countries are on the list of the best countries to live in. Soon this country won't be on that list either.
When you Dems start shooting your mouths off about the growing numbers of your races, just remember - it wasn't a single black or hispanic who formed this Union, drafted the Constitution of the United States or wrote the Bill of Rights. But it was a black man who pissed on the Constitution with Obamacare.
Said Leavitt of the experience enabled by the new law: "One of the best things the law did was that it created an expectation that people would plan. Because you can't just become president of the United States in 77 days, and do it well."
This is a foolish comment considering other past presidents did become presidents in 77 days and did it well. why is this being complicated wasting government money?
When you have big plans with which the American people will disagree you have to move fast on implementation. If you don't you won't be able to make your big changes before people notice, object, and stop you.
You think former transitions went well? You would rather have them talking about redecorating offices?
John B.......
I think you nailed it. That was a page right out of the Bush/Cheney play book. Their first move was to totally and forcefully get and keep the media off balance so that the people weren't able to get a picture of just was happening to them, until it was too late.
I believe that a Romney Presidency would have been Bush/Cheney on steroids in that department. It just seems to me that a Blitzkrieg that allows such radical changes goes against the basic premise of the US way of doing things....slow and methodical. Just looking at the process to amend the constitution....it takes years to get anything done.....even when the parties involved actually endeavor to work together. It's because, I believe, that the Founders didn't want their system being overhauled with every election.
It seems like there is a sense of urgency, or maybe even panic, among the movers and shakers that their influence may be waning and they MUST get all they can get NOW because this democracy thing may start to muck up the sweet deal they've got going for them.
All too predictably, this news article has prompted an avalanche of partisan vitriol. Could we declare a brief moratorium on the name-calling, chest-thumping and recriminations, and instead discuss the merits - if any - of PEPTA? Good!! I'll go first. . .
As with all legislation, the President would have had to sign off on it, or veto. Anyone know which he did? Or by what majority in each chamber this bill passed? I don't, but I'm curious. My intuition suggests that President Obama approved it, and with good reason:
No matter how you might feel about the size of our government or how large a role America should play on the world stage, no one doubts the complexity of any governmental machinery. The choice of cabinet ministers is hardly a trivial matter; would any of you prefer that cabinet posts remain unfilled while the new administration wrangled over possible candidates after the election. And isn't it just barely possible that the proverbial 'wisdom of the crowd', i.e., the hundreds of advisers and other staffers that the Romney team (or any team, but his would have been the first to implement PEPTA) assembled would have brainstormed ideas, policies and an agenda not all that inconsistent with the current administration's? To some of you, this may sound naive; but any organization, whether it be governmental, corporate, or even a large school district tends to have traditions and a momentum that cannot be easily scrapped or derailed by executive order. Nor should it. Any major changes must be made rationally, that is to say, deliberately.
One of the many virtues of our form of governance - perhaps the most important one - is its continuity, its peaceful succession. Unlike the kingdoms and dictatorships of the (not so distant) past, we do not eat our deposed kings nor execute loyalists of the ancien regime. Our mighty military has never attempted to seize power during a transition from one administration to the next, no matter where its generals and admirals political sympathies may have lain. And I can only hope that it never will. But a disruptive transition could well become a pretext for such a coup, or declaration of martial law to 'quell the angry electorate'. For this reason, if none other, I for one, favor PEPTA. Perhaps not how it's funded - the RNC could conceivably have come up with the money in this case - but in its intent. Only deeply entrenched partisans and paranoiacs could suppose that 'the other side' is cooking up insidious plots to deprive the opposition of its civil liberties or roll back the benefits that our revolutionary form of government - 223 years and counting - has conferred upon our nation. That gets us nowhere fast. Better to have faith that those whom we elect - or would elect - have our best interests in mind.
I certainly welcome any (civil) commentary on this post. Thank you. . .
I find it difficult to be civil when you toss out insulting insinuations of "partisan vitriol." In my post below where I detailed examples of former Utah Governor Leavitt's lack of a moral center, I stuck strictly with facts well-documented from local news sources. I would welcome any serious fact checkers who wish to review what I wrote.
And the larger issue is also bipartisan in that what is illustrated is just how utterly delusional and out-of-touch the Romney campaign was; they truly believed they were going to win the election, and a major "news" network fed the hype and belief on that one.
Reality bites...
SL Cabbie. I can appreciate facts being checked. Please check the facts on Obama's first term in office. Verify the rise in unemployment, rise in food stamps, catastrophic rise in National Debt. These are all verifiable facts that can be checked and should be alarming to anyone who cares about this country.
Rise in unemployment? I'll just start with that one... The rate moved up to 8.1 in February of 2008, a continuation of the "free fall" from the last months of the Bush Administration. Check the graph here; it's a lot more trustworthy than those chain e-mails you appear to be relying upon.
http://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2009/feb/wk2/art02.htm
After the peak, there's been a steady downward drop; now while you're engaged in a "red herring toss" (BTW, Romney lost the election), why don't you address the subject of Republican obstruction of jobs bills?
Be a good way to address that denial you're putting out there for everyone to see (see Window, Johari).
Finally, Google up my old school mate Rex Nutting's statements on the figures on the actual deficit percentage under President Obama versus what was happening under Dick "Deficits Don't Matter" Cheney and his ventriloquist dummy's administration. Rex is way more knowledgeable on this stuff (and Republican dishonesty) than I am.
Now, would you care to address the issues I raised about former Utah Governor Michael O. Leavitt? BTW, he was also good friends with Bush 43, and he was originally placed in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency. I won't mince words on that one; that act was on par with putting a pyromaniac in charge of security at a fireworks exhibition.
Seymour/Give it a rest. Your choice for P.O.T.U.S. lost and rightly so. His only platform was Anything he can do I can do better. You seriously consider that is good enough for the job interview. Eric /The many comments in disagreement of P.E.P.T.A. is ,in my opinion sound.Changing the previous office holder's plans may or may not be the way to go and to rush changes through without as much inspection and discussion as the former P.O.T.U.S. and his team probably put into it not too good of an idea.
Correction: Should read February of 2009...
Unemployment
Longer time periods give more perspective.
http://data.bls.gov/pdq/SurveyOutputServlet?request_action=wh&graph_name=LN_cpsbref3
Also - the US fiscal year begins in October - so it is appropriate to consider October 2009 as a beginning point to evaluate unemployment under the Obama administration.
As I've said before and will continue to say, we (real Americans) dodged one hell of a bullet. Who knows what this shape shifting meglamaniac would have done if he had won.
-720 Park Ave, you don't live there and shouldn't care about those who do!
Give it another month of so for more details behind Romney Readiness Project to surface. That's when Americans will begin to understand just how egregious Mitt was preparing to ambush and pillage the federal government for his own financial good. In the end, he'll be branded one of the most crooked SOBs in history.
Actually now Obama is using the Roimney Jobs plan. Watch and learn...Obama with no plan will be using the Romney plans as his own.
Equity4All - it is going to be Obama who is exposed as one of the most crooked SOBs in history. The man is slime. In four years this country is going to be in worse condition than it is now. Don't scream about the Republicans. If Obama hadn't been such an arrogant prick, flouting the Constitution and ramming Obamacare down the throats of Americans who adamantly opposed it, there might have been more willingness to compromise. Nope, this president is such a piece of sh*t that no one is going to be willing to budge an inch to forward any agenda he has. Fvck him!!!!!!!!!!!
Get over it Willard you LOST! GET IT AND BIG! What an idiot to think this great nation would let your sorry lying arse in the white house. The best laid plans of mice and MEN LOL Well the mice lost or in this case Rats!!! And the Men won, Deal with it folks.
Obama in the Pacific while the country burns.
Don't forget Benghazi burning also...
Oh wait, he might have been prepared if he had attended more than the pathetic less than 47% of his national security meetings/breifings.
What a waste...
Don't forget Benghazi burning also
Here is a real animal show a parrot beating a dead horse.
Byw genius the President is briefed personally daily on security issues. So now post your source for you wise crack
Carl there lives on Fox and they told him the 47% video was about Obama not attending meetings. So he is over here spewing their alter reality.
@lulu98 Are you aware that Mali is a hotbed of Islamic extremism? Are you aware they are becoming the new ME for Sharia law, and the attrocities against women, other faiths, etc, are escalating? This is a place where trouble is brewing and I'm glad the President is there to meet with officials and find out WTF is going on.....yea gods, woman, google it for yourself. Believe it or not, the President might be smarter than you, have more intel than you, and when you make comments like that...folks who listen to REAL news get the impression you may not be the brightest crayon in the box.
The country is burning? Call the fire department! Oh, that's right because of Republican Governors like Walker (WI) and Kasich (OH) and even the newly crowned SNL favorite, Christie (NJ); lcal government have seen police and fire and education budgets cut. Sorry folks. Grab a garden hose and do the best you can until we can get there.
Sheesh, every cut in every budget big and smalml for tiny bump in the road town to major city is some how all the fault of some republican somewhere. NO democrat would ever, could ever see the need to cut any budget any where anytime and it sure as hell does NOT matter to that dem that there is NO MONEY to pay for that service they refuse to cut. But why cut anything when you can just go borrow from a foreign country and let future generations worry about footing the bill.
Hey if the Party of NO, becomes the party of Yes then life will be ok..... Do not get me wrong we have to Cut Expenses & Raise Taxes to get out of this mess..... The Rep's next time have to listen to the people and not just a select few, and they have to select a leader who is believable.....
That's a big IF!
I wouldn't expect them to march in lockstep...after all, there is such a thing as constructive disagreement. Simply being a rubber stamp wouldn't benefit anyone...and probably be at least as destructive as the obstruction they've practiced.
I'm talking about bringing actual differences of opinion to the table....not a Plan OF Obstructionism for political reasons.
The Republicans are victims of their own success. Having won a majoriity of the state logislatures just before the Census reapportionment, they provided their Republican representatives safe Republican districts, resulting in majorities in state legislatures and in the US House of Representatives that are not representative of the US population majority. Votes for the US Senate on the other hand are not gerrimandered within each state, and hence represents the majority population at least within the each state.
In PA only 5 of 18 US House seats are Democratic despite more PA votes for House Democrats than House Republicans.
A majority of Americans support higher taxes on the wealthy (unless you they are called "job creators"), want most all the provisions of the Affordable Care Act, support a woman's right to choose abortion, and on and on and on - all policies that Republicans legislators in both Congress and state legislatures oppose. So long as the out-od-touch minority Republicans continue to hold majorities in various elected bodies, the will of the majority of American citizens will be in opposition to the policies of that party of the minority.
Sounded like the beginnings of a puppet regime.
Willard was a puppet he was being worked by the teabaggers. He was being told to say what they wanted him to say. He was bought by big money Karl Rove the Koch Brothers etc. He would have been a figure head and these scum would have been calling the shots bet on it. America seen through this sham!
@Dagan, not as many as should have. Frankly the mentality of a lot of Americans scares me. I just don't understand why they don't seam to have common sense anymore.
All they were doing was preparing to pay off all those debts the had accumulated from the whackos that supported him and his elf Ryan.
And who's pulling Obamas' strings????
Muslims are pulling hussein's strings. What do you think this country is going to be like when he is finished? He's in Myanmar now to suck up and bend over for the muslims. He's not there on a fact finding mission! It's also a stonewalling tactic against the Benghazi matter, i.e. a distraction of what he has already failed on in the last 3 months. It's just another embarrassing moment in the downward spiral of the American spirit that used to be.
skrewworld....who do you think is 'pulling Obama's strings'?
Larsen1.....You think it's Muslims? Do you really believe that Seals killed Bin Laden? Or that bombs really aren't falling on Gaza? Or there's very painful santcions on Iran that are making life very harse for its citizens? These are things someone would hardly allow to happen if the Muslims were 'pulling his strings'.
Since and including Nixon, anybody that the GOP has put up for President has been a puppet. No brains, just a talking suit.
Ever wonder why the deflections are always from the Dems to the Pukes? It is because Dems have brains, people without brains can go only so far, when they hit that ceiling they jump to the Pukes, where they soar.
just what do you believe there, johnnyt? That obummer pulled the trigger himself? The quoran states that a muslim will not kill a muslim brother, that's why obummer didn't go and WON'T go against any muslim terrorist whether its in Benghazi or here on American soil. Just get ready for another attack here at home. And he's bending over for them every day, every hour.
Our black muslim prez didn't put those sanctions into place. Had they not been done by predecessors, they wouldn't exist. You wouldn't find obummer putting out any sanctions.
Which also brings to mind the fact that he so against America becoming energy efficient without the muslim/arab world. We have enough oil etc. under our own land that is so much more than what the middle east has, and he's squelched efforts here. A chance to put people to work . Why support the arab nations when we have our own!
Patricia,
Did you say the same thing about Bush43 when he was hosting the Bin Laden family at the WhiteHouse the day that the Twin Towers were struck?
Answer this for me, how did the Bin Laden fly out of the country when all air flight was grounded and restricted to military use only?
@Frozencarbonite
No, the puppet regime started four years ago.
Patricia---you are dumber than your words. SHUT UP!
@bigdogg464 -
Do you make this stuff up as you go? Bush43 was in Florida when the towers were struck.
Romney's run for the whitehouse is best decribed ( I think ) of the unsinkable ship Titanic. The last 2 months of his campaign had to be painful for the GOP. We all enjoyed watching them scramble for their life vests. Every time the moroni moron morman opened his mouth with a new 'gaffe' we saw his supporters one by one, jumping ship. His first gaffe, "no, I am not going to show anyone all 10 years of my previous taxes, that would just be giving the democrats ammunition". It just kinda snowballed from there! I know a lot of mormons who didn't vote for him, even they couldn't excuse so many of the things that the man had 'envisioned'.
right, frances -- he didn't even carry his own state, Massachusetts.
He was afraid to run for a second term over there because of slipping so bad in the pop polls he started at 67% approval and ended at 33% and was a real across the aisle guy <S> He vetoed over 800 bills and only three of the got stood up.
Mitt Romney has many home states! He carried Utah, which is one of several. But he didn't carry MA or MI.
He started plummeting in the polls because he tacked hard to the right from his moderate Massachusetts persona. The instant he did that, those of us paying attention knew he was gearing up for a run at the presidency. Being governor was just a box to check off on the "things I gotta do before I can be elected president" list.
"We built a great ship, and regrettably, in my view, we didn't sail. The extensive and well-prepared operation resembled the inner workings of Bain Capital, the venture capital firm founded by Romney." Glad the American people sunk that pirate ship.
Pipp, in Virginia Mitt ran his campaign at that it would only really hurt blacks and no one else. That's what I saw that people were not getting. It wasn't the 1950's were only whites could get food stamps and social security anymore. Whites are the majority on food stamps and things like that. They even had a interview with people on all of the things. Most would say I'm voting to get blacks from getting things for free. Then the lady asked a few but your on food stamps and Medicaid. The person said that's different, thats owed me to by the government.
Have allot of people started losing jobs yet? At first I thought this was something my aunt was pulling with her business. Day after the election she said she had to fire allot of people to her friend. I asked her why because the business is doing great. Well, they don't have the right degree's for the jobs. I called her out on her bull@!$%#, because she is so strict and she hires them herself. I know they have good degree's and she was doing it because Obama won. It turned out lots of companies did this after the election. Most of all of them are blaming it on Obama. I hope allot of people aren't blaming him if jobs are going fast now.
Even more reasons to realize that we dodged a bullet. Romney is an empty suit.
"We built a great ship(1), and regrettably, in my view(2), we didn't sail(3). I think it would have been a crisp transition" Mike Leavitt.
(1) The Titanic (Ill Fated).......... (2) Without my glasses.......... (3) We couldn't sell it........ Basically, This "Great Ship was never launched because the American Taxpayers and Voters Inspection Team found it UNSEAWORTHY.
Sounds like a pathetic inspection process.
By the end of January, Romney probably would have shipped most government jobs offshore. And by the end of his first year, we would have introduced a health care bill requiring all citizens to wear magic underwear instead of buying medical insurance.
As for looking forward to the next election, I hope the GOP will be able to find a legitimate candidate, instead of going for "shock and awe" with cult members and ignorant bimbos.
Woulda coulda shoulda, but didn’t. Get over it. A person really needs to be more in tune and personable to take the presidential seat. The lack thereof clearly shows his level of skill. It doesn’t matter if you’re Dem, Pub, or whatever. No one really wanted a mormon agenda anyway.
This "transition team" worked so hard on THINKING they were going to win but the two at the top of the ticket were not going to tell YOU PEOPLE how they planned to "create 12 million jobs," "change" and "cut taxes on the wealthy." It was all a pack of lies by the two at the top of the ticket. Heck they even believed all the lies from the "conservative media." And the ones who voted for this ticket believed them too. Executive Orders in place the first day? All the criticism towards what President Obama did with a few of his Executive Orders and the two at the top had such a fit that he did but that was how they were going to do it. Hypocrites and thank God the voting public saw through this.
They took the house promising they were going to create jobs then killed the bill that would have done just that so a republican telling you he is going to create jobs? You better ask him in what country are you going to do that.
the GOP always said their NUMBER ONE JOB was to ensure Pres. Obama was a ONE TERM PRESIDENT...they kept that promise up to a point...they didn't do another damn thing all four years to help alleviate some of the suffering in this country...but they SURE AS HELL did not get rid of Pres. Obama.
A disaster that we will never see. Thanks to an enlightened electorate.
The 2010 law seems like a good one. However, it's troubling that Romney and his team had so many plans that they were racing to put into action, yet told the voters so few specifics (aside from their outlined "five points") about what they were going to do. As for those who can't wait for America to fail so that they can say "I told you so," all I can say is Really? Is that all you care about? Being proved right. You'd rather America fail so that you can say "I told you so"?
You won the Frickin Election, Quit Beating a Dead Horse. Doesn't accomplish anything but make a lot of Unnecessary Stink. Forward to Mediocrity !!!
Awwwww poor babies. You don't like being reminded you are a loser? Funny, you didn't feel that way in 2010. Suck it up and deal with it cry baby!
When the Thuglicans cease to use the wordsCLINTON & CARTER
10 years later the Liberals will forget your stillborn fiasco aborted mess Bishop Willard .
We should keep in mind, when applauding all this "action" that the Romney team was up to, that action, in itself, is not necessarily good or good for the country.
We were all disappointed with Barack so when we were polled we said we would go with old Mitty just to scare BO. Hell, we certainly didn't need another 4 years of cocky bs. I think he woke up and looks ready to battle for what we need. As a rookie in all areas he was shoved around by Hillary and her precious health plan crap (2 years down the toilet) and Boehner and his cronies who had the gall to openly tell the public they would be blocking everything.
So, once again, we're behind him but no longer blind fans. Do it right this time B and for everyone's sake find a successor other than Hillary the Hawk.
I know that I, personally, lied to all the polsters.Told them that I'm for Willard when what I meant was I'm for Willard getting out of the race (and take your arrogant, snotty, stuck-up wife with you. $900 for a butt-ugly T-shirt. How ostentatious. it would have looked better on her horse). Now that I reflect, it might have been just that one thing that swayed me against them. Than and Ryan's continual lies. Mit is just stupid, but Ryan lies knowingly.
I would like to think that Obama could do it right second time around but his biggest problem is the job is too big for him. He is not experienced and because he is so arrogant he won't let anyone help him to get better. As he said to everyone in Washington the first time he won, "I won and don't forget that." So I suppose with a comment like that, no wonder he didn't get anyone in Washington to help pass some of his bills. And remember, he pushed the healthcare bill whether the public wanted it or not. He didn't care. So with that attitude, do you really think Obama will have a different attitude. I doubt that. I have to wait another 4 years and just hope he doesn't do too much damage.
Obviously, he will do "less damage" than Romney/Ryan with their own 5 trillion in additional deficits and massive Federal layoffs to fund more "tax cuts for job creators". The most amazing thing is Romney even stated it will would have take another 12 years to fix the economy, and yet we see the GOP ranting and raving that Obama did not do in in 4, even with two years of GOP blocking and stalling all positive Democratic legislation, just to "make Obama a one term president", the "GOP's Job One".
It is interesting to see how many call Obama and the Democrats "Socialists", yet if you bother to study the massive "redistributions of wealth accomplished by the GOP during its last three Administrations, with their "tax cuts for Job Creators", the true Socialists have proven to be the GOP as massive wealth migrated over to the "job creators" with tax cuts which did not create jobs, but only more and more wealth. Just think, since 1969, or 42 years, the top 2% increased their wealth from only 8% to over 44% in 2011. Not too shabby, unless you were the 98%. Yet this is exactly what Romney and Ryan wanted to do all over again, tax cuts for job creators, combined with austerity, to finance the cuts for the "job creators", leaving no funding for any job creation programs by the Fed, as according to them, only the private sector creates jobs.
Hmmm. Former Gov.Mikey II'm a Mormon, too) Leavitt prepared the transition. Frightening to think that the Mormons were So ready to take over the USA. Perhaps God was not on their side, after all....
Yes, Harry Reid fulfilled the "White Horse Prophesy" when he issued his revelation about Mitt Romney's taxes...
The Constitution may, indeed, have been hanging by a thread.
For those outside of Planet Utah, Mike Leavitt set back environmental progress and conservation here at least 60 years when a scandal involving his family's trout farm emerged. They were charged with transporting fish infected with "whirling disease" to previously healthy waters, and the disease is still spreading throughout the West. Right after he became governor, Leavitt cashiered everyone involved in the Division of Wildlife Resources, reorganized "aquatics' with his brother in charge, and removed the requirement that the head of the DWR be a biologist. A source told me Leavitt received a phone call right before the election to make sure his name didn't appear on any of the ownership papers for the hatchery or the "Road Creek Ranch" his family owned; the hatchery was part of that operation, which was essentially a "dude ranch" that he entertained V.I.P.'s at while governor and even managed to have one of those coveted Utah licenses.
It gets better: in 1999, as Governor, Leavitt ordered a forensic investigation cut short when a back hoe unearthed some of the remains of the 120 victims of the 1857 "Mountain Meadows Massacre." Leavitt's great-great grandfather was among the murderers who lured the victims out under a flag of truce--after laying siege to the wagon train while disguised as Indians--and killed them in cold blood. The story is detailed in Shannon Novak's "House of Mourning"; she was the forensic expert who examined the remains per state law on crime scenes. A case can be made that Leavitt was only preserving the sensibilities of the victims' descendants, but the whole affair was a stinkeroo.
Addendum and correction: Should read "coveted Utah liquor licenses."
Sounds like more GOP whining to me.
I think the voters saw that the economy is improving albeit slowly and their lives are improving, that would be the class below the rich of course. They will have accessible health care for which they'll contribute, the housing prices are rising slowly, and the unemployment rate is going down slowly as well. There are no quick fixes. With the election results hopefully Congress got the message. I'm satisfied.
