President Barack Obama was among those who got teary eyed Wednesday during a surprise visit to his Chicago-based 2012 campaign headquarters, according to a campaign team video posted to YouTube.
"What you guys have done means that the work that I'm doing is important, and I'm really proud of that. I'm really proud of you," he said before choking up, turning his head and wiping away a tear.
The president spoke for about five minutes into a microphone while hundreds of volunteers, many of whom climbed desks to get a better vantage point, listened intently.
When the president's emotions became visible, the room erupted into applause in a unified show of support.
The commander in chief told the campaign workers he had no doubt they would go on to do "just amazing things."
"You guys are so much better than I was in so many ways," he said after recalling his move to Chicago at age 25 with a goal of public service but with little direction. "You're smarter and you're better organized and you're more effective."
Obama said that even before election returns started rolling in on Tuesday evening, the pride he felt for his team made him feel as though the work he had done in running for office had come full circle.
"Your journey is just beginning. You're just starting and whatever good we do in the next four years will pale in comparison to what you guys end up accomplishing for years and years to come," he told them.

But why won't Obama shed a tear for all the people who have lost their jobs and can't find work since he became President back in 2009? Obviously all he cares about is being President and hanging out with Hollywood celebrities.
I don't want a popular President who shows us how "cool" he is by hanging with celebrities and rap stars and leaves the actual Presidency to his 37 "czars".
I want a President who takes Responsibility for EVERYTHING that the gov't does and actually LEADS our country. Obama says the "buck stops with him" but in reality, he BLAMES his failures on others or doesn't acknowledge what HIS government is doing in HIS name.
If Obama wasn't aware of what was happening with the Fast and Furious fiasco, then obviously he isn't aware of what anyone in his government is doing in his name.
It's clear to see that trailer parks across America have a good internet connection because there are still so many crying and sniveling rednecks on here bashing the POTUS. I have a deal for all you teabagging bigots, we will give you the South, and let you ALL declare your independance from the U.S. and you can elect Rush Limbaugh as your leader and Hannity can be your V.P. You will not be able to receive ANY aid from the government and when another hurricane hits the coast there will be nobody there to help you when you are knee deep in your own $hit. If you are attacked, there will be NO military to defend you (outside of your cousin Bubba"s militia) and when you are in need of monetary aid, Sorry, no cash to borrow. When your kids need a college education you will only be able to attend southern universities and will have to pay cash...UP FRONT! Good luck in your redneck Utopia!
