Campaign pause set to lift on Wednesday

President Barack Obama canceled his campaign trips to Ohio on Wednesday as the rest of the 2012 presidential campaign prepared to largely resume its usual stride in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

President Barack Obama makes a statement in the White House briefing room following a briefing on Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29, 2012.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney — who was holding an event on Tuesday in Ohio ostensibly intended to collect supplies and donations for storm relief — appears set to head to Florida on Wednesday before heading to hurricane-stricken Virginia on Thursday.

Earlier Tuesday, the White House announced that the president will no longer make his planned campaign trip to Ohio, and instead remain in Washington, D.C., to monitor fallout from Sandy.

With just a week remaining until Election Day and precious few hours remaining for Obama and Romney to sway swing voters in a series of battleground states, both candidates had to weigh politicking with sensitivity to the East Coast victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Gov. Mitt Romney attended a storm relief event in Ohio, urging supporters to "make the difference in the life of one or two people" by donating goods to benefit the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

The president faced additional official responsibilities in assisting to restore power to millions of Americans without electricity, and helping states cope with damage to infrastructure and beyond.

Obama won plaudits from a top supporter of Romney's — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — for his handling of the storm's aftermath.

But, speaking on Fox News, the pugnacious New Jersey governor also angrily dismissed efforts to interpret his comments through a political lens.

In the final push in the 2012 presidential election, candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama make their last appeals to voters.

“I have a job to do," he said. "If you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics, than you don’t know me."

Each presidential contender turned to surrogates on Tuesday to carry their message.

Related: Romney set to return to hurricane-stricken Va. on Thursday

Former President Bill Clinton was set to stump for Obama in Minnesota and Colorado, while Ann Romney was scheduled to hold a rally in Iowa following several hurricane relief events earlier Tuesday in Iowa and Wisconsin.

Wednesday's campaign schedule resembled a more traditional agenda for candidates just six days before an election. Vice President Joe Biden was set to make stops in Florida, and Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan was scheduled to campaign in his native Wisconsin.

NBC's Chuck Todd reports on how the campaigns are responding to the storm.

The Romney campaign's official mobile phone application advised events for the former Massachusetts governor in Florida.

At this point, Obama's next publicly advised campaign events were set for Thursday, when the president was scheduled to make a three-state campaign swing with stops in Las Vegas, Boulder, Colo., and Springfield, Ohio.

Also on Thursday, according to the Republican Party of Virginia, Romney will make the first trip of any candidate to that battleground since Sandy struck.

Romney hasn't visited the Old Dominion state since Oct. 17, and canceled a planned visit this past Sunday for fear of diverting resources from preparedness operations.

The hurricane's aftermath continued, though, to inject broader uncertainty into the race for president and scores of downballot campaigns, as candidates' schedules were re-arranged on the fly.

Power outages and canceled campaign events also complicated pollsters' efforts to gauge public opinion in states affected by the hurricane.

NBC News' Chuck Todd joins Morning Joe to talk about the impact of Sandy on the presidential race and what he expects from both campaigns going into Nov. 6.

Of additional concern to both campaigns might be impact of inclement weather and hurricane fallout on early voting, a process used by both Romney and Obama to bank votes ahead of Nov. 6 itself.

Biden suggested on the "Enrique Santos Radio Show" on Tuesday morning that the hurricane may depress early voting.

"It may, it's just hard to tell now," he said of the storm's impact. "We've gotten the early vote out pretty well so far."

What a bastard Romney is,...to be focused on his underhanded campaign,...as the people are reeling from the damage inflicted by hurricane Sandy.

How callous of Romney to hold a "relief rally" in Ohio at this time !! OMG. Just think of that, so UNGODLY self-serving . He must think they are pret-ty gullible to not be able to see right through that. SHAMEFUL !!

Everyone should understand that Romney's finishing strategy is to simply bombard the media and everyone's senses with ads,...ads,...ads that speak negatively about the president. Romney's messages do not ring true and are just CONSERVATIVE PROPAGANDA. It has been their goal to oppose everything about Obama's administration since day one of his administration - unconditionally. It's all a power play on behalf of their wealthy corporate masters.

Obama has accomplished a lot given the circumstances he was handed due to years of failed conservative policies. OBAMA NEEDS AND DESERVES ANOTHER FOUR YEARS.

A time like this is the PERFECT example of why we need to continue to think of ourselves as a COUNTRY OF PEOPLE not simply investors and competing business interests.

NOW we may again see clearly what it means to be,..and to have,...and to NEED a neighbor.

It will be awkward to watch Mitt Romney try to feign conservative compassion for the citizens he plans to kick to the curb and abandon with his corporate welfare policies.

There IS a need for the guiding hand of government. There IS a need for taxes. There IS a need for social programs. There IS a reason to watch each other's back.

I don't know if it is God,...or just fate,...but THIS hurricane happened at THIS time before THIS election for a reason.

Our leaders' job is now to unite the people of the region to try to recover from this catastrophe. Should we think of this use of tax money as redistribution of wealth ? Where is the return for our investors ? Now that we are "all in it together",...we will all be in it together.

BUT as the GOP has seen the perfect financial storm gathering over the past generatrion all they can think of is how to distance themselves from those who are struggling. More tax breaks and bonuses and huge salaries and vacation home for ME,....and more pink slips and stagnant wages and less benefits for YOU.

BASTARDS >>>and that is to say they act like they have no country,...or no father,...or no family. The new right is uniquely un-American.

This is a country of "We the people".

If you care about your neighbor,....if you care about the majority of US citizens,....if you care for the America that was before this era of unprecedented greed and self-interest,...vote Obama/Biden on Tuesday, November 6th 2012.

Please, please, please,...come out to the polls and vote.

Say no to Ayn Rand's "ethical egoism and pure self-interest",.....and come back to American values, family values and "ethical altruism".

This is the wealthiest country in the world.

There IS enough for us to help our neighbors in need.

Let's support our fellow American citizens as they recover from hurricane Sandy.

God bless America,...God bless the PEOPLE of America.

Serfdom. Romney has done a lot to help those affected by the storm, and of course all the liberals can do is attack, attack, attack

That's all they are trained to do. Hate Romney and attack him every which way from every possible angle. You have shown the liberal one track mind serfdom, and its not pretty. Of course it won't be the last I'm sure. Once pigotry, and fiesty and all those other spammers show up, I'm sure Romney will become the devil incarnate. Ryan aids at a soup kitchen, SHAME ON HIM. Romney donates his bus to help the relief, and holds drives to collect supplies HOW DARE HE.

Any person with a grain of self respect will know to look past the false and slanderous attacks that are sure to come.

Looks like Hussein wants to act like he is really handling things this go around. Is that why after watching Ty Woods die in real time on videos from the drone flying overhead that he flew off to Las Vegas for a fund raiser? This is all show boating. The Governors from the States affected & FEMA have things well in hand. Or maybe the Brutha Hussein is going up in a Bucket Truck & hanging transformers with the Power Companies. He has already put all the powers in place to take care of the relief efforts. It's a shame he didn't think this much of the people in Benghazi.

Paul,

Only those who want to blindly support the President will:

1) Look at the Libya incident with rose colored lenses

2) Will somehow try to bring up Bush and Sep. 11, 2001

The truth is, the Libya incident was a massacre that didn't need to happen. There we're forces nearby begging to be allowed to intervene and they were told to stand down. Two seals dis-obeyed that order and went in anyways. They put their lives on the line to try and rescue these men, while some worthless politician watched the whole thing live from D.C. and told everyone else to stand down, because military intervention in Libya might look bad for the campaign. All four men died, the seals even had the mortar that killed them targeted. One missile would have put an end to it, but the only order given: Stand Down. There is no excuse, or defense for the Obama administration for what happened in Libya, and people are realizing it. Its just the media is pretty quiet about it, because most of the secretly endorse Obama, and will ignore this to get him re-elected.

I'd like to know who at the White House ordered our forces to 'stand down' (not try to rescue the Ambassador) during the attack in Benghazi that lasted for SEVEN HOURS. The attack was watched in the White House with drones flying overhead (possibly armed, but the Democrats refuse to confirm or deny since questions would be asked about why any missles weren't used to help the Americans under attack)

And after the attack was over and the Ambassador was murdered, Obama flew to Las Vegas for a fundraiser - SHAMEFUL.

The president- any president, anytime- has nothing whatsoever to do with getting power restored. Doesn't matter if it's a hurricane, blizzard, or Martian spaceship attack.

That falls to the utility companies- some of which are terrific, some absolutely lousy.

I live in the northeast, and I can tell you that Obama and the federal government did NOTHING up here. The herculean efforts of all three state governors, Cuomo, Christie, and Malloy, are what averted a total and complete disaster of immense proportions in this region.

All three states had evacuation plans, shelters, and work crews available since late last week. The planning, notifications/dispersal of information, and the execution of disaster preparedness was excellent in all three states.

Hats off to the state governments of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Maybe you should listen to all of the nice things that Governor Christie is saying about President Obama concerning the federal role in the relief effort.

Your statement demonstrates two truths. (1) You are going out of your way to criticize the President where no criticism is warranted and (2) you are not a Democrat.

If your mission is merely to criticize you can always be successful, especially if the truth is not important to you. If your mission is fairness and truth you may have to put in a little more effort.

I just want the truth about Libya. I dont care about rhetoric, but I want the truth. This happened a month and a half ago...and the 'investigation' isnt complete yet? Are you kidding me? It should be easy...every communication going into and out of the white house is logged, recorded and filed. I am usually not a conspiracy theorist, but this smells like a cover up. What was this administration told, when were they told it, and what was the response? This is not rocket science. If it turns out that the President made every prudent action at the time, then so be it...but it will be out in the open....and no further speculation has to be made.

Romney will not win the election because America does not reward negative, unlikeable leaders. Whenever I see Romney speak, I think "I can't take seeing this man on my TV for four years."

Romney tends to smile when he is talking about tragic events (have you noticed?) He gets over-excited when he is on the attack and verges on hysterical. In response to criticism, Romney, unlike Obama, doesn't "brush it off," he gets self righteous and whiney.

Yuck. I don't care whatever perceived weaknesses Obama might have, the President is easy on the ears, trustworthy, friendly and inspiring. I trust Obama, and I just don't like Romney.

It is the Governors and Mayors responsibility to have in place evacuation plans, rescue teams ready, responsibility to issue timely evacuation orders, and execute them well. It is their responsibility to get their state through the first 48 hours after the initial hit. After that, FEMA is supposed to arrive with relief and more supplies, and help to restore public roads and facilities.

You mean the one where Obama criticized Romney for suggesting a 'managed bankruptcy with Federal guarantees', and then did exactly as Romney suggested.

For those who don't seem to know what really happened, GM actually DID go through a bankruptcy - precisely the one that Romney recommended. They also got Federal guarantees after the bankruptcy reorganization - precisely as Romney suggested.

I blame Obama for the state of the economy, the size of the debt, the incompetence of not having a budget for three years, mishandling every crisis of his presidency, and his hopelessly inept foreign policy.

But the poor handling of power restoration? In all fairness, nope. I cannot.

Both refused to answer. In my book, that is most likely a YES. If that turns out to be true, this administration has far more to answer for because that means that they not only watched as it happened, but they had the means to at least try to disperse the attack.

YOU CAN COUNT ON ROMNEY AND REPUBLICANS TO DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM GETTING HELP FROM FEMA.

ROMNEY WANTS TO KILL FEMA AND PRIVATIZE IT SO THE GREEDY RICH CAM BE THE MIDDLEMEN REAPING PROFITS FROM MONEY THAT SHOULD BE GOING DIRECTLY TO VICTIMS IN NEED. rYAN PLAN SLASHES BILLIONS FROM THE FEMA FUNDING SOURCE IN ORDER TO GIVE MORE TAX BREAKS TO THE RICH AND ROMNEY!

Republicans have been blocking aid to victims for years just to slow the recovery process down to make the president look bad.

By Aviva Shen on Oct 29, 2012 at 10:25 am

Red Hook, Brooklyn flooded on Monday morning

The East Coast is bracing for the ever-strengthening Hurricane Sandy, which will affect 50 million people when it makes landfall on Monday evening. President Obama has declared a state of emergency in 7 states and DC, allowing them to receive federal funds for emergency disaster assistance.

Depending on the outcome of next week’s election, future victims of natural disasters may not be able to receive the same kind of assistance. Mitt Romney has suggested shutting down FEMA and turning disaster relief over to private companies. Meanwhile, House Republicans have repeatedly attempted to slash funds for disaster preparedness and response in 2011:

According to the House Appropriation Committee’s summary of the bill, the [GOP's 2011 continuing resolution] funds Operations, Research and Facilities for the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association with $454.3 million less than it got in FY2010; this represents a $450.3 million cut from what the president’s never-passed FY2011 budget was requesting. The National Weather Service, of course, is part of NOAA — its funding drops by $126 million. The CR also reduces funding for FEMA management by $24.3 million off of the FY2010 budget, and reduces that appropriation by $783.3 million for FEMA state and local programs.

With each major natural disaster in 2011, House Republicans dug in their heels over providing disaster relief. They repeatedly demanded the funds be offset by other spending cuts in the budget — even as a deadly tornado tore through Missouri, an earthquake shook Virginia, and when Hurricane Irene struck the east coast last year.
The politicization of disaster relief is likely to continue; the House Republican budget ignored a bipartisan agreement to make it easier to fund disaster relief, instead insisting again that spending cuts offset the emergency aid.

Romney stands by pledge to shut down FEMA
10/28/2012 11:48pm by 119 Comments Print

UPDATE: A GOP strategist just confirmed Romney’s intention to shut down FEMA, and suggested that at a time like this nobody cares about FEMA anyway.

“We cannot afford to do those things”

We reported earlier this evening on a video from the Republican primary debates in which Mitt Romney responds “absolutely” when asked whether FEMA funding should either no longer be guaranteed and/or the agency disbanded and left to individual states to handle FEMA’s responsibilities.

Tonight, the Huffington Post asked the Romney campaign to comment on what appears to be the suggestion that FEMA be shut down, and the Romney campaign refused to deny the underlying allegation, and then appeared to explain why it’s better to, in essence, block-grant FEMA to the states.

A Romney official sought to clarify the former governor’s remarks Sunday evening.

“Gov. Romney wants to ensure states, who are the first responders and are in the best position to aid impacted individuals and communities, have the resources and assistance they need to cope with natural disasters,” the Romney official said.

That’s clearly not a denial.

So, Romney thinks getting rid of FEMA, and leaving it to bankrupt states to figure out how to save their own citizens when we have a national disaster, is the more “moral” thing to do – Romney calls the current situation “immoral” in his video because it can lead to deficits. Romney added, when talking about FEMA and federal disaster relief: “We cannot afford to do those things.”

Remember: In Romney-land, nothing is more important than money. And the only real people, are corporations.

(Though rest assured that by tomorrow, Mitt Romney will have flip-flopped at least once, probably twice, on this as it’s difficult to formulate national policy when you don’t have your speaking schedule finalized for that day.)

i am not sure that the president will really contribute much here. after the disaster declaration it is pretty much in the hands of others to keep the cleanup efforts going. no reason to stay in DC. certainly different than a month ago when the brutal murder of 4 Americans in a terrorist attack was deemed important enough to stay in DC. in the case of libya there was a whole bunch that he could have done to help but alas chose to party in vegas instead

According to this report, yesterday (27 October) Obama ordered the immediate removal of Rear Admiral Charles M. Gaouette from his command of the powerful Carrier Strike Group Three (CSG-3) currently located in the Middle East.
US news reports on Obama’s unprecedented firing of a powerful US Navy Commander during wartime state that Admiral Gaouette’s removal was for “allegations of inappropriate leadership judgment” that arose during the strike group’s deployment to the Middle East. Seems he wanted to help our Ambassador and Seals on the ground, but was told to let them die. Oh, but don't stop there. Other commanders wanted to help also.

This GRU report, however, states that Admiral Gaouette’s firing by President Obama was due to this strike force commander disobeying orders when he ordered his forces on 11 September to “assist and provide intelligence for” American military forces ordered into action by US Army General Carter Ham, who was then the commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), against terrorist forces attacking the American Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
General Ham had been in command of the initial 2011 US-NATO military intervention in Libya who, like Admiral Gaouette, was fired by Obama. And as we can, in part, read from US military insider accounts of this growing internal conflict between the White House and US Military leaders:
“The information I heard today was that General [Carter] Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.
General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.” Yep, our commander in chief knew it was a terrorist attack, we had assets in place that wanted to help, but our fearless leader said "Stand down" Now he fires real American heroes cause that's how he rolls.

Benghazi-gate is yesterday's news. Americans are concerned about the economy which has now been affected by Hurricane Sandy. #1.34

You're joking right? Yesterdays news? Americans died, and there is a question as to what the President of the United States knew and when he knew it, and then his reaction, or lack thereof. You may have conveniently forgotten about this, but that doesnt mean all Americans have. We want a President that will make a decision and stand behind it...not stand behind others as decisions are made. BTW, I thought he did a wonderful job of throwing Hillary under the bus. She would have been 10 times the President he could ever hope to be.

That comment was sickening.

Romney has done a lot to help those affected by the storm...

Yeah...by holding a "storm relief rally" in Ohio! That's so lame...why not hold it in New Jersey, which took the brunt of it? Oh yeah, New Jersey is not a swing state, so he holds it where he's going to lose the election at! And how much "relief" is going to come from multi-millionaire Mitt? Uh, maybe zero? How much from his "rally" will go to help those affected? Wanna bet it's zero?

Meanwhile, Obama can score some serious points -- or lose points -- based on how he handles the whole thing. All he really has to do is a better job than Bush with Katrina, since that is the measuring stick. And Mitt will just look like a twit, holding bogus "relief" rallies that are nothing more than campaign stops.

Republicans, what are you going to do when your guy loses? Plan for 2016? Oops, sorry...2016 will be the year of Hillary Clinton, and there's nothing you can do about it...

ROY WILSON-336103

Beverly in Chicago "The auto industry in Ohio helps President Obama. No need for spin!"

ROY , Right

What YOU DON'T KNOW is...the 2009 bankruptcy reorganizations at GM and Chrysler played a major role in the turnarounds at those automakers. It allowed them to shed billions in debt, along with plants, workers, brands and dealerships they could no longer afford.

MYTH opposed the federal bailout that kept the companies alive during the bankruptcy process. Without that $81 billion in funding, the companies would have been forced to go out of business and liquidate, according to those experts.

"There was no way they could get financing," said Conway. "They were burning money so fast, with no end in site, that no one but the government was going to give them money."

Steve Rattner, who served as the car czar for the Obama administration, has repeatedly said that the government was the only source of financing to keep the automakers alive through bankruptcy.

http://money.cnn.com/2012/05/08/news/companies/romney-auto-bailout/index.htm

See Roy you're not that astute.

Without the bankruptcy there was no money out there to pick up besides what President Obama did to save the auto industry.

Furthermore, the loans have been paid back with interest.

Just give us the truth.

If the Romney foreign policy advisors believed there was any real issue there why did your candidate not bring it up during the foreign policy debate? Was it because he got his ass handed to him during the previous debate when he had his facts wrong?

You're joking right? Yesterdays news? Americans died, and there is a question as to what the President of the United States knew and when he knew it, and then his reaction, or lack thereof.

So, since the 9-11 attack was preventable according to the Republican chair of the 9-11 Commission (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/12/17/eveningnews/main589137.shtml), and more than 700 times as many people died on 9-11 than at Benghazi, why didn't Bush and Cheney face the firing squad? They are 700 times more guilty than Obama! Or why didn't Bush and Cheney face the squad when they went into Iraq in search of the invisible "WMDs" that they had zero evidence that they did exist, just so Cheney could make millions by issuing gigantic no-bid contracts to Halliburton, who was still paying him? There's the blood of 5,000 more Americans on their hands!

Oh, that's right...you guys are using the deaths of these people as a political tool because it might help your clown guy "win". Keep dreaming...next thing you know you'll be blaming Obama for Hurricane Sandy, since he knew that was coming as well...

starsailing,

Are you sure I am the person you want to have this conversation with? I would bet every dollar I have that you have never stepped foot into the middle east...but I guess not everyone has the courage to actually raise their right hand, they would rather complain about things than fix them. OK, here is some free education for you. Everyone KNEW that Iraq had WMD's. In case you either forgot, or are not old enough to remember, here is a SMALL sampling:

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members.... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct. 10, 2002.

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime .... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction .... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ...."
Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003.

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

This is a small sampling. I can fill up this page with quotes, including some from the leader of the Senate Intelligence Committee at the time. So, if you want to continue to spout the 'lies' told by the Bush administration causing the murder of thousand of military members, then by all means. I cant stop you. But then how do you respond to the above comments? Were these people just as 'guilty', or were they stupid, or could it be the intell was correct?

I did two tours in that God forsaken country and saw the remnants of their WMD systems (after we blew them up). I saw the parts stockpile for the delivery systems. I also spoke with some buddies of mine who were on the invasion force, who saw the convoys heading up into Syria. In full disclosure, neither they or I know exactly what it was, but there has been a LOT of speculation what was on those trucks.

I will debate the Iraq war with anyone. But I will tell you, after his quest for WMD's, attacking his neighbors, thumbing his nose at no less that 13 UN resolutions, and being involved in assassination plots for THREE US Presidents, I wouldnt have cared if they used unpaid parking tickets as justification.

So, I 'got crackin'. Tell me, exactly what have you done?

The coal miners of Ohio, unlike some workers who are intimidated by their unions, are unafraid of standing tall and confronting the Obama Administration head-on. Last Wednesday, more than 500 coal miners who work at the Beallsville, Ohio Century Mine, operated by Murray Energy, held a rally to condemn the Obama Administration’s despicable ad claiming the miners were coerced into attending a rally for Mitt Romney on August 14. They also charged Obama with waging a war on coal.

The Obama campaign had seized on rumors started by a local shock jock, David Bloomquist, who claimed the miners had been forced to attend the Romney rally. Mitch Miracle, speaking for the miners, read aloud the two letters they had written and signed.

The letter to Obama read like this:

Dear President Obama:.

We are writing as the employees of American Energy Century Mine in Beallsville, Ohio. You have approved in a running television campaign ads about the Mitt Romney event that was held at our Century coal mine. These ads state that we were forced to attend this rally and that is blatantly false. There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, we, the employees, mostly started by a local shock jock host. Since your approval is attached to these ads, you may not wish to support these mistruths. Why would you lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter?

1funnygirl,

Thought this might interest you.

According to the latest Special Inspector General for TARP's Quarterly Report recently submitted to Congress , GM, Chrysler, and Ally Financial have repaid only $35 billion of the bailout funds to date. This leaves $44 billion of taxpayer funds unpaid.

In theory, some of that will be paid back when the Government liquidates its 32% share in GM, its 6% share in Chrysler, and its 74% share in the former GMAC. The problem is, if those shares were sold at current market prices, the net proceeds--about $20 billion--would saddle American taxpayers with a $24 billion loss. Did you see how the market opened today? I think the 24B loss is a conservative estimate. Will these companies pay back the losses? I dont think so, because they have 'paid back' their loans early. Remember that lie? The bailout was not structured to allow the American taxpayer any coverage. There was no incentive for GM or Chrysler to improve their stock prices. Actually, the exact opposite...keep the stocks low, so when the Government sells their shares at a loss, they can be purchased low, and then when profits come back up, they have made more money.

I think we can all agree, that a 24 BILLION dollar loss is not good. It didnt do any of us any good. In fact, GM is outsourcing more jobs to China every day. I shouldnt be surprised, the President's expert on job creation...you remember him, dont ya? The CEO of General Electric...who was introduced to us all as a job creation expert... funny how no one mentioned that he had JUST send thousands of jobs overseas.

Once again, the money was just handed over with no protection of the taxpayers. No benchmarks, no restrictions. Tell me again, WHO was the biggest benefactor of the GM bailout...it couldnt have been the UAW, could it?

That is the reaction I have when I see Obama and hear him talk. I want to throw up. Then when he speaks you know he's telling lie after lie after lie. He is a socialist through and through. If he is re-elected this country will go down the tubes, like Greece, Spain , France etc. You can not keep on spending and taxing and giving money to your supporters, especially money you borrowed from foreign countries. I was born and raised in Germany, where socialism caused the world unimaginable pain and suffering. Now the German government is bailing out Greece and Spain, and there is a revolt brewing among the german people, because they are seeing their tax euros given to people who wont go earn their own living. It will happen here if Obama is re-elected.

So Navy Seals disregarded the 'stand down' order from the White House and attempted to secure and protect the ambassator. Yes, they were killed and you are saying if you don't wish to die don't join the Seals?

Are you an A$$ or what? How dare you make that statement. There was time to send in a response team as the WH did in Tunisia, but it chose not to. Why bigbrain? Many Americans want to know who and why made the decision not to secure lives.

Was it Obama the Great Divider of the Progressive left? Perhaps Valarie Jerrett who often tells Obama how to react. It wasn't Hillary, who wanted to protect the folks on the ground. She was for protecting her people, not delivering them to the terrorists.

Now you will continue that it wasn't a planned attack but crowds (with crew-served weapons) against a video?

Will the republicans move to continue the investigation after Nov 6? HeLL yes they will. I am amazed that you liberals believe this is old news without any anger towards the loss of life and the manner in which this happened. Had the president been a republican, would you still react in the same way? I think not.

Politics and protecting a failed president is more important than losing lives on American soil?

It's a non issue because there was nothing that could have been done to save them.

General Petraeous (sp?) said you do not send boots in if the information that you are receiving is not good and you cannot determine what the situation is like. It is like a mountain climbing team, you better have someone with the moxy to cut the line if they go over a cliff instead of pulling the rest of the team down with you.

It is an issue because of the lies told to try and cover up why they attacked our Embassy. If they didnt have all of the information then they should have not said anything except that they are trying to find out what happened. Instead they decided to blame it on a movie and that backfired. Now it is getting close to two months later and still no word? A 10 year old could have figured it out in less time.

I suppose its a good thing you arent asking me to apologize, as I have no intention of it. I saw the interview, and read the reports. What was failed to be brought up during the Monday morning quarterbacking is the amount of sarin gas that was found, the modifications of the scud missiles, the maintenance facilities and engineering plans. The interview surrounded the yellow cake uranium, in which if memory serves me correctly the paperwork was forged by an official in Niger. So yes, I will concede that yellow cake uranium was not found. There, you got me.

Big Dog and John are prototypical, hypocritical liberals. They know, unless they are truly stupid, (high probability there) that Obama lied and has been attempting to cover this up. If it were a GOP the liberal biased media would make this headline news 24/7. And Obama did not admit it was a terrorist attack for 2 weeks. The next day he was surmising the possibility of a terrorist attack, when he already knew. But this scum bag has been telling the world how everything is under control do to his tough stance on terror. After all it was Obama, and Obama alone that killed Osama.

Govt issue....you need to keep reading the search on........Bush lies nation into Iraq war....you are not done yet...I can post them...here...but other rt wingers will just put on their headphones and listen to their theme song banjo picking music.

It is hard for some people to see that their own government sent them to war knowing it was about war profits and Bush telling his assistants (Airforce) before 911 that he "wanted to be known as a war president, because war presidents are remembered." I have a number of friends served in Iraq, relatives, one missing missing part of a foot, that came back after multiple tours. Now they have found out after research , what the world knows. They was no reason to go to war, it was a lie.

Nixon did the same thing. Read or listen to the LBJ tapes with taped conversation with Sen. Repub Dirksen. Nixon found out LBJ made peace agreement between North/South Viet Nam and China. He sent envoy to convince South Viet Nam he could get them better deal. The day before elections, Nixon announced he had a plan to end the war. He didn't but got elected because of it. He expanded war instead and murdered two of my best friends. The war would have ended.

It is hard for a family to realize they were used in war...for politicians personal gain. Rt wingers refuse to know the truth.....Some of them still think pro wrestling is real too!

Choosing these 17 advisers from Bush regime is a red flag from the graves of those they killed.

Bill Clinton was suspended from practicing law in Arkansas and paid a $250,000 fine as a result of the Monica Lewinski incident.

He also paid a $850,000 settlement over the Paula Jones incident.

He was also disbarred from practicing law in front of the Supreme Court.

So Bill Clinton, a disbarred lawyer, a President who was impeached for lying under oath, is asking the American people to believe him when he says the best thing for the country is four more years of Obama.

Just got through a host of stories on who's ahead in Ohio.

Obama is using the fact that the counties he carried are up over 2008 with the assumption that means he is winning by a big margin.

Here's the first problem. When considering the counties won by Bush in 2004, Obama's assumed advantage drops to about 10,000+ votes.

Here's the second problem. Upon a closer look at where the ballots are comting from the up is in the Republican precincts dominated precincts more than the democratic ones.

And the third problem. Polls consistently are showing that Romney is a 15 - 19 point favorite amoung the independents. Historically, the candidate that gets the majority of the Independents wins Ohio. The only hope for Obama is to get enough of the registered democrats to get out an vote. Being the vote was 40% Republican in 2004, there probably are not enough Democrats to over come the margins.

          Campaign Pause?

There is a campaign pause, and it's the president doing the pausing.

(The UK Telegraph): As the US Eastern Seaboard struggles to come to terms with the impact of Tropical Storm Sandy, presidential election campaigning has been temporarily suspended. “The election can take of itself,” Barack Obama said yesterday evening.

At least, I thought it had been suspended. But I was wrong …. Mitt Romney is to attend a “storm relief event” … Paul Ryan will attend a separate event to “thank volunteers”…

…. Except Paul Ryan isn’t thanking volunteers in New York or Atlantic City. He’s thanking them in the in the pivotal swing state of Wisconsin. And he’s not thanking volunteers actually involved in the relief effort (they’re too busy trying to bring relief to people)…..

And Anne Romney? … she’s attending two “storm relief events” of her own. And where are they being held? Well, knock me down with a feather. Or a hurricane. Anne’s off to Wisconsin and Iowa …. both vital to her husband’s election chances.

What about Mitt Romney himself? His “relief event” is taking place – again purely by chance – in Ohio…..

          DB, please, spare us.

This is the guy who wants to be our president.

Mitt Romney was the 70th governor to serve Massachusetts, but was an absentee governor during the four
years from 2003-2007. Mitt Romney was absent for 417 days to be exact, a little over a year that Romney was absent from the job he was elected to do on November 5, 2002.

Mitt Romney loves to tell interviewers and audiences what a great tenure he had as Governor of Massachusetts. The narrative he presents is of an engaged governor who constantly met with the
legislative branch. Romney loves to add that he met with the leaders of both parties.

According to a New York Times analysis, Governor Mitt Romney was often missing in action, taking trips to places like Utah. In fact, when President George W. Bush announced that the nation was at high risk of a terror attack in December 2003, Mitt Romney was not in his home state of Massachusetts, but at his Utah retreat.

During much of the time Romneycare was being debated and negotiated in the Massachusetts legislature, Mitt Romney was out of town and presumably, unengaged.

According to the New York Times analysis, more than 70% of that time away was for political or personal reasons. While some of it was lengthy vacations and weekend getaways, toward the end of his term Romney spent much time laying the foundation for his failed 2008 campaign for President. In October 2006 alone, Romney was gone for 25 days.

The people of Massachusetts got the sense from Mitt Romney that he was more interested in attaining the governor’s post than in doing the job.

This leads to the most obvious question in this campaign to date.

Is Mitt Romney more interested in attaining the job of President of the United States, or actually doing the
          job?

          New York Times:

With Obama, we can anticipate that the unfinished business of universal health care and the re-regulation of the Wall Street casino will be finished. We can expect investments in education, infrastructure and innovation, followed by a gradual, balanced attack on deficits that includes higher taxes on the wealthiest …. We can expect the Pentagon, after winding down two wars, to bank a peace dividend ….. The fact that these objectives represent a continuation of his first term does not mean he is aiming low. These are ambitious goals.

If Romney is elected…. we can fairly expect a rollback of universal health care in favor of the rough marketplace, and at least a partial dismantling of regulations on banks, extractive industries and whatever other industries squeal about job-killing red tape. We can expect a lowering of the safety net, especially a retrenchment of Medicaid and a marketization of Medicare. His deficit plan will rely on draconian spending cuts and on the supply-side superstition that tax cuts automatically produce growth …. You can expect another Scalia or two on the Supreme Court, the defunding of Planned Parenthood and a social agenda aimed at appeasing the evangelical base….

There’s more, but you get the idea. Two agendas; compare and contrast…..

What was Romney doing the day after Katrina Hurricane?

Answer: exporting jobs to China and taking a tax deduction for it.

Sel, at least now I know it's not just VA. I thought he was just spamming this state with new ads. I wondered why is he doing so many new ones. The election is next week, why waste the money on new ads this close to election.

ROMNEY IS ORDERING MORE SUPPLIES FOR THE NAVY TO HELP OFFSHORE IN THE DISASTER AREA.

SO FAR HE HAS 5000 EYE PATCHES, 1200 PEG LEGS, AND 24 PARROTS! GREAT jOB MITTSTER!

Yes Romney the vulture capitalist went to one of his offshore accounts , dug up one of his chests, and while digging found another prirates chest also. So he raided it and picked up a pack of shirts at Costco with the pieces of eight he stole.

The rest of the money he used to buy an American company and is in the process of sending those american jobs overseas,....yes building eye patches and peg legs for our navy.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your #$%$ and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land."

Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your #$%$, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land."

Today, Congress has stolen your shovel, taxed your #$%$, raised the price of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost JObs, Savings, Social Security, Retirement funds, etc. I called a Suicide Hotline. I had to press 1 for English. I was connected to a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal. They got real excited and asked if I have a Back Pack!!.

Folks, we're screwed.... OMG====Obama Must GO!!!

Yea, Border Joe, you must be one of the lucky ones. Either you are retired and on Medicare, independently wealthy or you have healthcare insurance through a stable job. If you do, heaven forbid you should ever get a serious disease and get laid off, because then you would have no medical insurance when you needed it the most. The rest of us aren't so lucky.

Thanks to all the State, Local, and Federal leaders for apparently preparing as good as could be for this storm.

It is time for us however, to consider who we want to lead this country for the next four years. On one hand we have President Obama who has failed to lead an even satisfactory recovery and who is incapable of providing real leadership on the world stage. On the other hand we have Gov. Romney who has proven himself capable of leading businesses, turning around an Olympics, and leading a predominantly Democratic state.

Mitt Romney is the man to lead a turnaround in this country. He is not an idealogue like our last two presidents, he is a problem solver and a leader. This is exactly what this country needs.

Actually Willard Romney is a shameless opportunist plain and simple. Romneys business practices are anything for the bottom line and if that means destroying American jobs and sending them overseas thats fine with him as long as it lines his pockets. The only thing Romney did for the Olympics was lobby for Fedral money. The folks in Utah do not trust him and neither should you.

Romney and Ryan would like to do away with ferderal disaster relief and privatize it so once again we can pay huge prices for no bid contracts to his cronies.

In short Romney is a big corporate puppet who promises to revert back to the very same policies that crushed our economy. Wake up

The performance of the Mayors and Governors of the areas affected by the storm, demonstrate that adequate local leadership is what is really needed in this situation.

You Republican voters who vote Republican no matter who your canidate is should educate yourselves on the issues and the policies of the person you are voting for. As of now Willard Flip Romney has given us no idea what he would do once in office. He has been on every side of every issue and he thinks his constituency is dumb enough that he can bluff his way thru. Politicians like Willard Flip Romney are what is wrong with Washington.

Romney is a fraud at best and a crook at worst. He isn't honest with anyone about anything. And, he's the only Presidential candidate in modern time given a pass on his tax returns indicating he has much to hide. But those with low intellect will follow him like the Pied Piper because they so want to believe in the shiney object that is hollow and had absolutely no substance.

Romney is NOT a job creator except minimum wage jobs. He has no plans he is competent to talk about and has no ideas about anything. He has insulted our allies and our citizens over and over again. We cannot afford to have a buffoon like Romney in the White House. He is welcome to go back to the Caymans!

can you possibly share why you believe obama should be reelected? it would be nice if you could do this without calling anyone vile names or throwing insults as is your typical behavior? imagine that you are trying to convince someone as you look in their eyes why obama deserves their vote.

Vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden on Tuesday November 6th 2012

Bengazi...... on average (5) soldiers every week come home from Afghanistan in Body bags and were supposed to worry about (4) US embassy workers getting killed who put themselves in harms way in the one of the hottest Muslim nations on earth to make a lot of money.

Quite frankly dear....I don't give a damn if they got killed. They took their chances....they lost.

                                (19) seperate terrorist attacks occured on us interests abroad (Excluding Iraq and Afghanistan)during (8) years of GW Bush resulting in multiple US deaths and not a f-ucking word of critisizm was aimed at the imbecile over them.

i think you have the wrong guy as the liar. oboma campaigned on cut deficit by 50%. bush (regardless of his job or how you feel about him oboma said) was unAmerican and down right unpatriotic for running up the deficit but yet he (oboma) has spent more money than all, that is all US presidents in the history of this country combined.

who is the liar and who is unamerican and who is unpatriatic.

folks oboma said this. he did worse than all combined.

you guys are an idiot if you vote this guy in for another 4 years.

you would be unamerican and unpatriotic if you do. you will be a traitor to your kids and everyone who comes after you.

that is the bottom line. unamerican or a change.

The desperation of the Obamabots is amazing. They seem it fit to make politics out of everything, even Romney trying to do what he can to help out. Face it, both Obama's and Romney's are hyperpolitical at this point. Obama certainly has a job to do and I would expect nothing less than him to take a break from the trail. Romney has done so as well.

However, we still have an election to handle on Nov 6th and this is an important one.

Actually, the point is that he can't 'help out,' because he's currently not involved in the government. He can only choose to inject himself into it in the attempt to gain politically or do the classy thing and step to the side for a few days and hope that that translates to people having a higher opinion of him.

We see which way Romney is going with it.

Actually, at one point, my opinion of him was just fine. When he was head of the Salt Lake games, I thought he was sort of an admirable guy. And as far as the rest of it goes, you really have no idea what my opinion on any of those things is, since I didn't bring any of that up. I wasn't even talking about campaigning while all of this is going on. I was talking about Romney trying to inject himself into the process of disaster relief, where he can do absolutely no good because he has absolutely no designated role, is not a first responder, has no responsibilities, can only get in the way, and has absolutely nothing salient to offer to the process.

So Mitt holds an event to collect supplies for the storm victims even though the Red Cross says it doesn't help to have "stuff"---it needs money. How self-serving of Mitt. All you Romney supporters should make donations this year---in order to balance his tax plan, the deduction for charitable contributions would be on the chopping block. Along with FEMA. That would help in a disaster.

Romney has a link, just like Obama to the Red Cross for donations.

The issue for the Red Cross is that they do not have the ability to ship goods these distances. Cash allows them to buy locally and use local trucks and equipment to deliver these. Romney apparently understands that because he has provided his campaign bus to deliver the goods. This storm was huge and local stores of bottled water, blankets and canned goods could have been compromised.

You libs all criticize Mr. Romney for not paying more taxes--when there is no where on tax forms that allows you to voluntarily pay more taxes and that's why he makes such generous donations such as the one he is conducting now by putting his campaigning on hold so he can use his own resources that he worked hard for and paid for to provide relief supplies to the east coast. What did Obama do yesterday morning, he took AirForce 1 to Florida but when he realized he could not fill up the arena with people, he used the Hurrican as an excuse to fly AirForce 1 back to DC--two questions--How much did it cost the taxpayers and how much pollution was put out in the air by the plane's back and forth trip yesterday?

Lastly, the October jobs report should be released Friday, but Obama and his liberal media are trying to use the closure of Wall Street and the Hurricane as an excuse not to release that information. HOWEVER, here is the ticker, Andrea Mitchell from NBC already dropped the bomb that the report has already been prepared so no excuses B.O. unless you messed with the numbers, it is time to show us how much you have not done for this country. Remember what you said B.O., "I mean what I say," and also remember you said that if you "could not fix the economy, I should be a one term president." Guess what bubba--you made things worse.

                                  Obama, "Stand Down!"

If the left wants to pay more in tax than they owe, let them. I prefer to spend my charitable funds the way I want. The libs are always great at doing charity with other peoples' money.

Actually, I am a "+1%er", meaning that I'm volunteering to have my taxes bumped up by 1% in order to retire my country's debt and leave a strong, prosperous America for your kids to inherit. (You're welcome.) Don't scoff and sneer until you run the numbers- if just 20% of American taxpayers signed on to this voluntary, no-strings-attached movement, I'm betting that we could pay down the national debt in a few years.

At the very least, it would do good for ALL Americans, not just the ones who are members of Mitt's church.

More than 40 states already make it possible to donate on their income tax forms. You can also write a check directly to the general fund.

You can see how many people are jumping on the bandwagon!

If 120 Million people each gave $500 dollars that only adds up to $60 Billion

No way in HELL that that little piddly amount will make a difference to the national debt.

That barely pays a month and a half of the interest on the money Obama borrowed from China!

Well, since we're talking to each other like grown-ups- the "+1%er" idea is more of a symbolic gesture to get the ball rolling on comprehensive tax reform- something that both parties pay lip service to, but neither can ever accomplish because the special interests have built-in so much inertia to the system as it is. By the way, Ticked, thank you for crunching the numbers on that.

Now just because I propose something that is at best a partial or even symbolic gesture, does that automatically mean that we should just reject it out of hand? And is it just THIS government, or do you think that maybe the preceding ones have made questionable uses of OUR money?

Exactly, his administration told the Navy Seals to "stand down" when they wanted to go rescue the Embassy employees and ambassador. The Seals disobeyed the orders, went to the embassy and saved over 30 lives, but unfortunately could not locate Ambassador Stevens. They headed back to the CIA annex, made repeated requests to the Obama administration for military help, and was denied on all occasions. In total 4 Americans died. Obama stated at the last debate that our military technology has improved dramatically since the days of bayonets and horses, which contradicts his administrations response that military help was hours away and would not have been able to save lives. The only help they got was from an armed Drone. By the way Prezo Bozo--Mr. Woods and Mr. Doherty were killed 7 hours after their repeated requests for help.

Obama, you need to "Stand Down!"

9/11/2001, Cheney's Inside Job, was a "huge" cover-up. Benghazi, Libya was an unfortunate incident in which Republican budget cuts for State Department Security cost Americans their lives in service to their country in dangerous circumstances. Panetta has much to answer for in the delaying of reinforcement.

I do care about the truth. I am listening to Mr. Woods. And he was emotionally hurt by the response that obama and Clinton gave him over his son's death. He was even further hurt by the FACT that this tragic event was played out in real time in the situation room. How does that make him feel? Not angry...but he does want obama to come clean.

I've also listened to Mr. Woods. His main comment has been he doesn't want this to be used in the Presidential race yet Republicans still cling to it. Investigations are not done and, contrary to those thinking they are done quickly, a thorough investigation can take months. To try to make this political is wrong but the Republicans have been doing just that - in spite of all of the family's wishes.

                                  And, I'm well thank you!

I never said that though. Read my last sentence. he is NOT angry..but he does want the truth to come out. Implying he felt that he was lied to. I don't think he is trying to make it political. But, when he says that he was a coward for not coming clean on this...AND the generals and Lt. Colonels that were being interviewed with him agree??? What does that say. Political or not, there is a cover up.

You know, I sit here in Kentucky, with heat, hot water, gas at $2.99 a gallon, and have a solid teaching job in West Virginia and a part time teaching job in Kentucky. I teach the equivalent of two full time teaching positions plus an extra class. Every moment I get I do everything that I can to show my students how important it is to help others, but yet I can do very little knowing my family lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia right now. I feel helpless and quite depressed of which there is almost nothing I can do.

What are we doing to each other in this country. Please, just tell me what am I doing wrong that is not getting the idea of humanity across to others? Why is Romney even thinking of campaigning? I don't understand.

You're actually one of the few people here today who is doing anything RIGHT with your post. There is absolutely no need to politicize this tragedy in any way, shape, or form today. Anyone who is doing ANYTHING to help should be commended, and anyone whose idea of "helping" is coming on here and taking cheap shots just to score a few last-minute political points obviously didn't live through the anxiety and fear and helplessness that so many of us on the East Coast did in the last 48 to 72 hours.

By the way, you didn't say which suburb your family is in, but I can say with extreme gratitude that my own small borough in Delaware County down near the airport was incredibly fortunate - my basement is dry and we never even lost power - and overall, compared to some of our friends and neighbors in New Jersey and New York and Delaware, we were truly blessed. Hope the same is true for wherever your family is.

By the way, in none of the 24/7 tv coverage I saw yesterday did I see anyone asking either the rescuers or the people being rescued what their political affiliation was before reaching out their hands to help or be helped.

I, for one, have no interest at all in discussing politics any further today.

Peace, and best of luck to your family.

I heard Barrack Hussein Obama today while driving home talking about the storm. While possibly not verbatim (word for word for you uneducated liberals), here is the general tone. "Through the dark storm we were able to see the brightness in America. I PERSONALLY spoke with mayors and governors all over our great land and conveyed to them that if they have any problems, or need anything at all, not to hesitate to call ME at the White House."

Wow, do you think Obama is attempting to use this storm for political gain? A mayor can call and get directly through to Barry and he will ride in on his white stallion to save the day!

Give me a break. Unfortunately, the incumbent usually gets a bump from natural disasters, do you think Barry was rubbing his hands together in anticipation for the past few days?

The GOP is running the most divisive, offensive and contentious election campaign as far as I can remember. I have voted in 11 presidential elections in the USA. I have never seen more unethical, seamy and profligate rhetoric used during a presidential election.

Now this infection has climbed on to the state and local election campaigns as well with additional prevarication of innumerable proportions.

No need to state the obvious and plain difference between President Obama and Romney. No one is that blind or deaf as not to understand the inexplicit message bracketed within the rhetoric: An inference easily accomplished by the majority. President Abraham Lincoln’s spirit is most likely filled with unendurable sorrow over this shameful deed.

I have been receiving postal mail and email from various unknown and mysterious sources and organizations. These communications instate lies and misrepresentations, which range from minor concerns to matters of the utmost importance for the people of the USA.

The point is to frighten the voters about the incumbent and thereby get the vote for the GOP’s candidate. Declaring misrepresentation such as: The end of Social Security, the end of Medicare. Cuts to social welfare programs to the indigent, families, children and the elderly.

Additionally, falsely predicting higher taxation for all, rules and regulations to restrain business, higher dependence on foreign energy sources and major decreases to the military budget, all patently false information.

The GOP’s most odious and malicious statements have been to claim that the incumbent is ruining America, destroying the American family and damaging the future of the USA.

Here is to all the media, organizations, individuals and various supporters of the GOP and their candidates. When the election is over, and if by some devious form of chicanery the GOP manages to marginally get their candidates jammed in to office, remember this: The end of the election process is not the end of the USA and its citizens. When the hammer starts to pound and the vise to tighten, there will be those who remember and refer to the events which led to the impending crisis and there will be retribution. After all this is the most glorious and gleaming United States of America.

Joe, this election season has indeed been nasty. I will be truthfully be glad when it's over. But to say the GOP has been doing the mudslinging is just not true. I seem to recall an Obama commercial with Obama's voice saying, "I approve this message" where Romney was blamed for a woman's death due to cancer. It was fact-checked by an independent organization and it turned out that Romney has not killed anyone!

The fact of the matter is that Social Security and Medicare are in danger of becoming a thing of the past if these politicians can't keep their hands out of the coffers.

We live in a time of 24 hour news and 10 second sound bites. Both sides have made gaffes.

This was the first time I saw them this bad also. It took Obama over a month to respond to the ad's I saw. For people that didn't keep informed with what has been going on. They would think Romney's ads were true because it took so long to respond back. Was funny when Romney talked about Obama using nothing but bad ads. It was so many bad ads at once from Romney.

                                    That's NOT acting - that's BEING President!

Citizens depend on government in times of crisis. Real leaders dismiss politics and deliver for their citizens - All 100% of them Red, Blue or Purple! A trickle down tax cut is surely no replacement for prepared and ready government disaster resources.

Well, all you MittWitts and (R)Ayn Rand fans, this is a good opportunity for you to a.) witness the America we actually live in rolling into action at a time of national need, and b.) give some consideration to the kind of America Romney and Ryan think we should live in.

According to Romney, it is "immoral" for us to be providing disaster relief that we can't fund on a pay-as-you-go basis, although he has never once applied that same standard to government spending that directly benefits him and his. Read that again: It is immoral- his word- to provide sleeping bags, pure water, emergency medical care and hot meals for people displaced by this and other disasters, because it'll add to the national debt; but he's perfectly OK with jacking up military spending by another $2 trillion that we also don't have (and the generals and admirals have said they don't really need), leave the Bush tax cuts in place, and continue giving billions in subsidies to the Top 7 oil/energy companies even as they're banking record- shattering profits; that suits his sense of "morality" just fine.

I guess his church uses a different Holy Scripture than the rest of us- oops, that's right...

OK, on to Paul Ryan, the enthusiastic disciple of Ayn Rand... except he's really not mouthing off about her so much, is he, ever since AlterNet published excerpts from her works proving in her own words that his "favorite philosopher"- his words- was a militant atheist, a committed enemy of all organized religion (guess your Archbishop didn't much approve of that, eh, Paulie me lad?) and an outspoken supporter of abortion rights (a little hypocrisy there, or are you just not a careful reader?).

In a world like Ryan would like to build, run according to the principles of "Objectivism", nothing would ever be done except in self-interest or for profit; which would mean no more FEMA, no fire departments or police except what people could afford by voluntary contributions, no emergency utility crews leaping into action from every corner of the land and descending on the stricken area, there to work forty or sixty hours at a stretch (as I've done) until the power's back on, drinking water is flowing and the roads are open to bring in relief supplies and take the injured to hospital. No, in a Paul Ryan/Ayn Rand society, people struck by natural diasters arre FREE! Free to die in isolation, unless or until they can scrape up enough change to make it worthwhile for a totally self-interested society to come to their rescue.

All of the foregoing is based on the statements of the concerned parties- Romney, Ryan, and Rand. Together for a devestated and desolate America.

I think he's hoping that if he over does the the Hurricane Sandy gig people will forget about Libya. Never let a crisis go to waste is the Deemoncrat way!!!!

I really don't know if he is registered or not. I don't see you actually defending the village idiot though, Obama shoulda dumped that clown for a real V.P. it's cost him points having Joe around

Bill Clinton will always be a sex offender in the eyes of most good Americans. I know the girl was 21 but to most men she was a child.

Most men, who aren't retarded or over the hill, would understand that a 21 year old female in 1997, has very likely already been sexually active for a good 4 years or more. Wake rhe "F" up. Real life is passing you by. She stopped being a girl by 19 at the latest. His Cheney wasn't the first one she had ever sucked.

President Obama is in charge and directing the recovery of Sandy like a timely oiled machine. Pay attention Brownie and see how it to be done. If Mitt had his way all disaster relief would be privatized. Can you imagine Bain Capital being in charge of disaster relief. With the way Romney ran Bain all of the workers would have been fired and their retirement accounts in Mitt's Swiss bank account. Mitt is a twit.

Obama's Employment Czar, Jeff Inmelt, CEO, of GE, has sent about 28.000.00 American jobs, to China!
GE has paid no Federal tax, in years. Inmelt, helped Obama with all those shovel ready jobs. That were not shovel ready.

Yes, Obama is doing that....because it is in his political good to do so. When our men were pleading for help, he let them die and then lied to the American people because he would look politically bad. He is president with blood on his hands. Case closed. He only cares about what makes him look good.

That air support NEVER came. Shameful!!! The only reason the target was light-up and vis-à-vis the Seals were exposed, was so that Air support could hit the target, and thereby stop the attack on the Embassy. .For 7 hours the White House watched the attack by cameras in Drones overhead-- in real time..AND did nothing to help!! In fact, it would take the power of the White House to leave the Seals exposed and without Aid!!! These American Heroes bet their lives that such a situation would never occur!!! This is blood-boiling for any Freedom Loving American!! And especially for any VET!!! . And it spits in the face of all that is the Esprit-de-Corps that exists in the USA Armed Forces!! Once again, the votes are not counted till the polls close on election night. There is no way to know how the early voters actually voted. Guess you have a hard time understanding that concept.

How can you count votes BEFORE the polls close? If there something Ohio does differently than anywhere else in the US?

For craps sake you fools voted for George (Howdy Doodie) Bush! That alone should disqualify you from ever voting again.

Johnny3621820 - You guys voted in Obama without knowing anything about him. He was never vetted by the media; he wasn't voted in as Sentator - he got that position by default. In his book, he touts the fact that he was a screw off in school - yet, somehow, he attended an ivy league school (which, of course, he won't release any transcripts). He obviously doesn't understand economics and the best he can say is "Yes, we can". Pretty lame. But, you voted him into office. This man cannot take responsibility for ANYTHING unless it makes him look good. It's always someone else's fault. Wow - that's leadership all right.....

jules4nd - you clearly have no facts but gladly post your fantasies. President Obama was vetted more than any President in modern time. And, he most certainly WAS voted in as a Senator - he did NOT get the job by default. He was a "screw up" through part of high school then got his act together. He was an exemplary student in college even heading Harvard Law Review - a rare honor for anyone.

I realize it is hard for you, but try to post at least SOME facts instead of the fantasies your hatred is based on.
