Updated at 9:16 p.m. ET: An impending hurricane injected a new degree of uncertainty into the 2012 presidential campaign, impacting candidates' schedules and early voting opportunities just nine days before Election Day.
President Barack Obama called the storm "serious and big" following a briefing at the headquarters of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA), warning residents in the storm's path "to take this very seriously."
In the campaigns' waning days, President Barack Obama is forced to juggle dual responsibilities – the incoming storm and his push to encourage early voting. Several key swing states are in the storm's path. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.
The president also canceled campaign trips to Virginia and Colorado scheduled for early this week, the last full week of campaigning this election, in order to monitor Hurricane Sandy. The storm's impending landfall was poised to add a new variable to a presidential contest that has tightened considerably in its closing days, along with scores of downballot races up and down the East Coast.
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney canceled planned stops in Virginia — one of the most hotly-contested battleground states this fall — on Sunday and headed to Ohio instead.
Obama spent Sunday in Washington, where he traveled to FEMA headquarters following church services early this afternoon. The administration authorized several emergency declarations for states sitting in Sandy's path, and Obama convened a conference call with administration officials and governors in the storm's path to receive an update on preparations.
The storm put some of Obama's campaigning on hold, as he canceled a northern Virginia event for that afternoon, along with an event in Colorado Springs on Tuesday. Obama was still set, though, to travel to Youngtown, Ohio on Monday morning. The president appears — for now — intent upon returning to the campaign trail on Tuesday evening in Green Bay, Wis. His campaign also advised on Sunday afternoon that two stops on Wednesday in Ohio would go forward.
President Barack Obama addresses the nation on Hurricane Sandy as the storm prepares to hit the East Coast.
The storm might have rearranged Romney's own campaign itinerary, though it's unclear whether the GOP presidential hopeful will be able to return to Virginia soon. Romney didn't address the storm in his remarks in Celine, Ohio, but his running mate, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, urged voters in the Buckeye State to keep East Coasters in their thoughts and prayers.
Nonetheless, the hurricane could prove to be the proverbial "October Surprise" of this campaign as it upended other elements of the election well before it had even made landfall.
Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) canceled early voting in his state for Monday, a decision other east coast governors could mirror. That could have an especially pronounced impact on a state like Virginia, a battleground state in the presidential election and home to a competitive Senate race.
Late Sunday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed an executive order to extend in-person voter registration in Connecticut to Thursday, Nov. 1. The deadline had originally been Tuesday.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican, said on Sunday's TODAY show that he didn't worry about power outages or other complications from the storm diminishing voting in the state.
Virginia and its 13 critical electoral votes are in play, but now Hurricane Sandy threatens to throw the campaigns off course. Obama and Romney have canceled appearances there. NBC's Lester Holt reports.
"It's going to be, probably, seven days from the time the storm passes 'til Election Day," he said. "We've already taken precautions to move up polling places to a higher spot for restoration. The power companies are well aware of that. So I don't think it's going to interfere with voting."
But Democrats are counting on robust turnout — both through early voting and on Nov. 6 — to propel Obama to a second term. While Sandy's projected path is uncertain, its rain and wind could discourage voters in the key swing state of Ohio from voting early, a practice employed by both campaigns to bank votes ahead of Election Day.
"Obviously we want unfettered access to the polls, because we believe that the more people come out, the better we’re going to do,” David Axelrod, a senior adviser to Obama's re-election campaign, said Sunday on CNN. “And so, to the extent that it makes it harder, that’s a source of concern.”
The president himself downplayed worries about the storm's impact on voting.
"We don't anticipate that at this point but we're obviously going to have to take a look," he said in Washington following his FEMA briefing.

big break for Barry, he gets to ACT presidential....for once, too bad he hasn't for the last four years. But it will give him a little leeway right? Tell ya what send out that buffoon Biden maybe that will help, have him laugh at some more of America. that will show em how competent you both are.
Hey Mr. President, if you think you got "shellacked" in 2010, you haven't seen anything yet!
November 6th will teach you the extreme meaning of the word!

The ironic timing of hurricane Sandy hitting our nation, does not escape me; a bit like the Iowa paper endorsing Romney yesterday....Secrets and lies take a lashing.
This said, I do hope that all in harms way, no matter political party, find safety during this scary storm.
Romney/Ryan 2012 for a kind nation to all
Updated as of 3:20pm EST on Sunday, October 28:
Real Clear Politics (RCP) is consistently cited by both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS as a current source for
reliable averaged polling data at every level of American politics.
RCP on Thursday returned North Carolina (NC) to the status of "toss-up state," and in so doing, reduced Romney's likely electoral vote tally from 206 to 191. However, Romney still holds a strong although softening lead of 3.8% in NC and remains the favorite to capture that state in the upcoming election.
In sum, RCP now considers the following eleven states, listed in descending order of electoral votes, as "toss-up": Florida (FL), Pennsylvania (PA), Ohio (OH), Michigan (MI), North Carolina (NC),Virginia (VA), Colorado (CO), Wisconsin (WI), Iowa IO), Nevada (NV) and New Hampshire (NH).
With only 9 days left in the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama leads in seven of the toss-ups, Romney leads in two, and in CO and VA as of late yesterday the candidates are now tied.
In descending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Obama, followed in ascending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Romney, here are the published averaged numbers from RCP as of 3:20pm today together with the FiveThirtyEight election night probability of victory for either candidate:
.
In PA, with 20 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 4.7%, down from 4.8% on Friday.
However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 94.4% chance of winning PA, up from yesterday's 94.0%.
.
In MI, with 16 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 4.0%.
FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 98.2% chance of winning MI, up from yesterday's 98.0%.
.
In NV, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 2.4%, down from 2.5% on Friday.
However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 80.1% chance of winning NV, up from yesterday's 78.8%.
.
In WI, with 10 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 2.3%, down from 2.7% on Thursday.
However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 86.3% chance of winning WI, up from yesterday's 85.7%.
.
In IO, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.3%, up from 2.0% on Thursday.
FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 72.3% chance of winning IO, up from yesterday's 72.1%.
.
In OH, with 18 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 1.9%, down from 2.3% on Saturday.
FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 73.5% chance of winning OH, down from yesterday's 76.3%.
.
In NH, with 4 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 1.4%, up from 1.1% on Friday.
FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 70.5% chance of winning NH, up from yesterday's 69.7%.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In CO, with 9 electoral votes, the race is tied, a change from Romney's lead of 0.4% on Thursday.
FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 57.7% chance of winning CO, up from yesterday's 57.3%.
.
In VA, with 13 electoral votes, the race is tied, a change from Romney's lead of 1.0% yesterday morning.
FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 59.8% chance of winning VA, up significantly from yesterday's 54.1%.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In FL, with 29 electoral votes, Romney's lead has fallen to 1.8%, down from 2.1% on Thursday.
However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney a 63.8% chance of winning FL, up from yesterday's 62.9%.
.
In NC, with 15 electoral votes, Romney's lead has fallen to 3.8%, down from 5.0% on Thursday.
However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney an 82.5% chance of winning NC, up from yesterday's 81.7%.
.
So…
For Obama to win re-election, the easiest route still appears to be through maintaining his existing lead in five of the six toss-up states where his current margins are widest: PA, MI, NV, WI, and OH. Doing so would bring his electoral vote total on Election Day to 271. In this scenario, Obama could still surpass 270 while failing to hold either IO or NH.
However, should Obama lose the critically important and highly-contested state of OH, the loss could effectively be neutralized by any of the following combination of wins from states where FiveThirtyEight is currently predicting Obama victories:
Path #1: Obama fails to hold OH but wins IO, NH, and CO resulting in 272 electoral votes.
Path #2: Obama fails to hold OH but wins IO and VA resulting in 272 electoral votes.
Path #3: Obama fails to hold OH but wins CO and VA resulting in 275 electoral votes.
However, regarding Path #1, there is some question as to the accuracy of the RCP polling numbers in NH which includes in their average a recent 'outlier' finding from UNH which has Obama leading by an overwhelming 9.0%.
For Romney to unseat Obama, he not only would have to hold the two states in which he presently leads, FL and NC, bringing his electoral vote total to 235, but also steal victories in CO where his lead fell from 0.4% on Friday to that of dead heat, in VA where his lead fell from 1.0% yesterday to another dead heat, and finally with OH where Obama's lead fell today to 1.9%. By so doing, Romney's electoral vote total would reach 275.
Should Romney take CO and VA but fail to take OH, he could overcome this shortfall by stealing WI and either IO or NH, resulting respectively in an electoral vote total of 273 or 271.
With only nine days of campaigning left, this one may come down to the wire…. and to the October jobs report.
Let's hope that Election Day is free of both voter fraud and voter intimidation and that eligible voters who have registered in good faith over the past six months are in fact able to vote on November 6; let's also hope that vote tabulation itself is performed honestly and accurately by both the election commissions and private corporations to whom this essential role is being entrusted.
In any case, it will be interesting to watch as election night unfolds.
It is reassuring that president Barack Obama will be our conduit to FEMA rather than a GW Bush (Katrina) or Mitt Romney.

Romney/Ryan 2012
"Independent thought" - you must be one of those low-information science-deniers, who don't 'believe in math' either . . . . you know, you trust the unemployment figures if they say 8%, but it has to be a liberal "fix" of the BLS data if the figure drops to 7.9.
If you bothered to go to the 538 blog, you would see that it is not "A POLL" - Nate Silver takes ALL the polls and "aggregates" them (big word, I know, but you can look it up!)
so it is not "wishes and dreams" - it is ARITHMETIC!
R & R have NEVER been ahead in OH, and they can't win w/o it. Thankfully, the good people of OH (or most of them) know who saved the auto industry when Robme would have let it go bankrupt. Obama had their backs, and now they have his.
And the only "uncertainty" left in this election is whether Robme has bought & stolen enough votes to win.
O & JOE, 2012 . . . Robme, 1040's!
Independent thought, fivethirtyeight.com is non-partisan. Nate Silver employs Political Calculus to come to the probability. He started to be noticed in 2008, when his calculations became reality. He is himself a genius(a real one). That is why so many people refer to him for probabilities, especially in time of elections. To attribute political affiliation to his work, is to diminish his work.
Wow - - must be a slow political news day - - the election is A WEEK from Tuesday - - not this week - - all will be well by then!!!
Not to mention, Nate Silver's 538 site is not a poll. It's an aggregation of all polls, national and statewide, plus a variety of issues that affect the election, such as the stock market and jobs numbers. In addition to looking at the numbers, you really need to read Nate's analysis of why the numbers are the way they are. For example, a slightly stronger poll for Romney in Ohio outweighed a poorer one for him in Virginia, causing Romney's chances to increase slightly from 25.6% to 26.4%.
Nate's predictions have been very accurate in the past, with over 50 correct predictions and two incorrect but close. He was almost perfect with his 2008 presidential predictions.

Democrats often refer to Romney as a vulture capitalist. Republicans often refer to Obama as a community organizer. Let's take them both at their word. The aftermath of these colliding storms is predicted to be devastating. Who would you rather have covering your back? The vulture capitalist that only seeks profit in every disaster, or the community organizer that will work 24/7 to get you back on your feet?
The Department of Labor has been directed to report the unemployment rate to be 6.5 % before the election.
Wait a minute.....the Department of Labor has "asked" the DOD contractors to NOT REPORT pink slips because of the Budget sequestration thereby VIOLATING FEDERAL LAW.
Where is the article on Benghazi ? Oh, swept under the rug like "Fast and Furious" and the "European Missile Defense System" until after the election. "I will have more flexibility then."
If anyone thinks that IF Mr. Obama is re-elected he will "work 24/7 to get you back on your feet" is completely and totally delusional. He started talking about "jobs" in the Spring on 2009 and hasn't stopped yet. Heck, Mr. Obama went MIA when Benghazi was attacked. Wait a minute....not MIA....just on another campaign stop.
Probably do Barry good to get off the campaign trail.... the more he opens his mouth the worse his re-election numbers..... better put Joe in the cellar too......
All you East Coasters, stay safe !!
Obama, Biden and Holder raised their right hands and swore to uphold the laws and Constitution of this Country. They have failed. They have ignored promises on transparency, they have skirted laws, and they have ignored the enforcement of others.
They have violated the trust of the American people and are terrible examples of what an ethical administration should look like. That oath means something. Ask any man or woman in the military today or any law enforcement officer.
American can't wait for a Romney administration, and a larger, ethical and truly impartial Justice Dept. We'll need one.... they are going to be busy investigating many of the decisions of the last four years.

Fellow Posters:
Interestingly, I did read through Nate's, 538 site, just yesterday. I also watched his TED talk. He is a bright man, but that may not account for the soul of America and a surge of a nation's change of heart.
November 6th will direct our country in one way or a drastic other way. No matter what, things are going to change. There is no such thing as a successful forward without a plan.
Romney/Ryan for Proud to be an American
an aggregate of polls. So that means its accurate right? No. The aggregation of a bunch of liberal biased polls does not equal an accurate poll. Two wrongs don't make a right, and aggregation of wrongs do not make a right. I don't care if he is a genius, he is just as vulnerable to bias as the rest of us. but you libby's just go ahead and blindly trust his "aggregate" polls and "superior" intellect.
But I know you libby's don't believe these polls. If you did you wouldn't be so panicked. You wouldn't be putting so much effort into posting false polls in an attempt to demoralize the Republican voting base. You'd be watching YouTube or Rachel Maddow, or whatever it is you libby's do with your spare time. Which I imagine you have lots of, because your Unions protect you from getting fired, so its not like you actually have to work.

O & JOE, 2012 . . . Myth Robme, 1040's
The thing nobody talks about, but will be an issue if Romney wins is crime.
After repealing Obamacare and removing about 17 million low-income earners from Medicaid and reducing food stamps by over $100 billion over the next decade, there will be more poor and desperate people than ever before.
Cutting funding to birth control via Planned Parenthood will create more babies born in poverty.
Block grant Medicaid issued by states will eliminate 15-20 million people within a decade.
Under Reagan and Bush crime increased when benefits were decreased. People became desperate with lower resources.
Crime and poverty go hand in hand. There is no way to deny that correlation. It has thus been from ancient times.
Romney will remove the most benefits in history.
This will cause crime of unprecedented levels in cities and urban areas. It will become too dangerous for law enforcement.
Drug cartels will become entrenched in major cities and nobody will be able to control it.
There will not be enough room to house all the prisoners. There will not be sufficient police. Please think twice about voting for Romney.
Beakeeper,
Crime rate is out of control now, because the coffers are empty. San Jose, California, "solid Obama" had four murders yesterday! Also 8 in 11 days in August. Don't think you are persuading anyone with your above arguments to keep Obama in office.

I hope that Sandy does not cause too much damage to the American people.
As far as the campaign and election goes: we already have too much hatred building, and it almost seems to be spilling into this double storm. People who say they pray are the worst, praying for more and more hatred. If you have any decency, you will be thinking of people who are going to be hard hit. I know that east coast storms usually do not blow down houses, but some houses do wash away down rivers inland, and there are plenty of trees down on roofs, and there is death. If you have any decency at all, you will be holding a prayer vigil for anybody who is facing this storm.
As for who has stood for the American people far more often, I'm voting for Obama and all Democrats, so that they don't pass the Ryan-Akin bill that affects every woman. Please consider your mother, your daughter, your sister, your friend when you vote. Everybody knows at least one person who is female, don't you? Obama and the Democrats also represent jobs in America, not sent overseas. And there are policies and problems that need to be addressed that would have no chance at all with a Republican. Please consider carefully everybody on the ballot.
@Patriotic....Romney has released the same number of years as Ronald Reagan did in 1980. Go read up on how that election turned out.

Won't private industry be sufficient to get us through this difficult time ?
Who needs government at all ?
What about our investors ? This is wasteful. Where is the return ?

Nor have you paid attention to (2) his Jobs Czar who is the KING of shipping jobs to Chinia. However, I agree with (3)......you had better consider very carefully in voting for Mr. Obama because....what is HE going to DO for YOU ? TAXES and more TAXES.
Vote for Romney~Ryan to take back America from the Progressives and the RADICALS.
This storm is bad news for Obama for two reasons:
First, it leaves him unable to campaign in four PIVOTAL states he is behind in: Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and New Hampshire and one he is losing ground in: Pennsylvania. He NEEDS to be campaigning there.
Second, it forces Obama to actually do his job, which he is loathe to do. He can't be at Jay Z/Beyonday fundraisers or doing Letterman/Stewart/Leno/The View spots. He actually has to be IN the Oval Office, working. Crap!!!
But it *does* help to maybe, possibly take some heat off Obama for his role in the death of Ambassador Stevens, his aide and the two Navy Seals and the subsequent lies and cover-up. But they can't stick their fingers in their ears forever! We KNOW!!!
Good luck to all on the East Coast in reguards to Sandy. The storm called Sandy is mild compared to the two front storm about to hit obama. First is the republican voter storm front that will eject obama from the WhiteHouse. Second is the Benghgazi storm front that will keep obama tied up untill his eviction day in January. Sandy is a welcomed distraction for the obama team. ROMNEY/RYAN 2012-2020
this storm will have a major impact on the election, power could be out for weeks, hundrens of thousands displaced-and damage close to a trillion dollars; and quess what , there is nothing anyone can do about it, Nature has a way of saying who is really in charge.

i'm the gayest, most liberal man in america, but if rachel maddow is supporting someone, i know i need to support the opposite of whatever that is. so i'm voting for mitt tomorrow.

mitt may suck but not as bad as obama.......
mcpaddy,
Is that you?
Haven't read a single post of yours in two months.
Gotta love that Ignore feature, baby!
Let's hear more from you, Ian, "the gayest, most liberal man in America". I'm completely baffled as to why you'd vote for Romney, and equally baffled as to why you're dissing Rachel Maddow.
Of course, I can see progressive reasons for being frustrated with Obama, and I can see reasons for being frustrated with Ms. Maddow--toeing the Zionist line as she does.
Yet you've given no indication that your frustration flows from either of these points of view, so I'd like to hear more about why a person who describes himself as both gay and liberal would vote for Romney and stand opposed to Rachel Maddow.
Please, Ian: Tell us more
So, Ian, you are going to condemn the rest of us because you don't like Rachel Maddow. That's not fair. When she first started her show, I was glad we had someone rational to do good research and speak for liberals. But it didn't take long for me to see that she told half truths just like the "other" side did. Half truth is just as damaging as no truth. I'm very disappointed in her.
But, I'm not voting against our best interests and giving our future to what I believe would be truly ruinous --more powerful oligarchy, disseminated middle class, more wars, further dumbing down of the population -- just because of my disrespect for someone who has no control over Pres Obama. I sure wish you wouldn't either.
You are not gay. You are a Republican who thinks by claiming to be gay. Your statement means more. Nice try, but no one is buying your BS.
Greg,
I think you're right about Ian.
No you aren't any of the stated, but I bet you lie a lot. :)

This same issue has been used as a lightning rod almost since the time Roe v. Wade was passed. We have had more Republican than Democratic presidents in office since, and even though each of them were 'pro-life', they would never dare to try to over-turn it. You don't give the women in this country enough credit if you think they would allow themselves to be rolled over that way. And why would you call him a liar? All gay people do not support Obama, just as not all black people do. It's the economy, stupid!
~~If you're not outraged by the direction of this country, you're just not paying attention~~
I am releasing all of my jism all over Mitt's face, as I read the Book of Boring Stories. Nephi is a gal darn homo boy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIl7d1VVwOc
Let me get this straight here, your voting for someone who sucks, eh.
I think Robme sucks more than President Obama, but to be sure we should ask Ian, the gayest man in America. Waow, ah ah. You can take that to the booth people, good as gold. That's the way to decide on your vote in America.
Well to all the people now facing Sandy,I hope you are all safe. But I saw this that is appropriate here:
As a potentially catastrophic storm approaches the east coast we want all of you to remind your right-wing friends:
The last time this happened Republicans in Congress played politics with FEMA disaster relief funds and Romney said last year that to use federal money, risking any sort of addition to our national debt, in order to assist victims of a natural disaster is immoral.
We will repeat...
According to Romney, any relief from a disaster should be state funded ONLY...period. It is immoral to add to our deficits, by the way of federal relief money, to help Americans that might be devastated by a natural disaster...such as Hurricane Sandy.
Tell you what Romney, we'd rather this country go broke helping people who need aid after their lives have been destroyed by a natural disaster then give tax breaks to @!$%#s like yourself.
Oh...but those aren't immoral right? Maybe if people like you didn't hide a lot of your money in offshore bank accounts we'd have a higher tax revenue to help fund FEMA so we could help Americans.
Only Republicans can turn natural disaster relief into political rhetoric. And only Republican voters are stupid enough to support politicians who attempt to do this.
Oh that is until THEy are impacted by a natural disaster. THEN these Republican voters, and states, suddenly LOVE federal money.
Here are more of Mr Romney's ideas on disasters like Sandy:
Mitt Romney: Federal Disaster Relief For Tornado And Flood Victims Is ‘Immoral,’ ‘Makes No Sense At All’
Asked about federal disaster relief for recent tornado and flood victims , candidate Mitt Romney called the spending “immoral” and said the Federal Emergency Management Agency should be privatized. With greenhouse pollution on the rise, the United States has been struck by a “punishing series of billion-dollar disasters.”
Embracing a radical anti-government ideology from the most extreme elements of the Tea Party, Romney said that the victims in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and other communities hit by tornadoes and flooding should not receive governmental assistance. He argued it is “simply immoral” for there to be deficit spending that could harm future generations:
From its founding, the federal government has served the Constitutional goals of domestic tranquility and general welfare of the American people by aiding the victims of climate disasters. Romney’s extremist stance in favor of corporate “disaster vultures” would leave the United States in ruin, with only rich and well-connected people like the Romneys assured of getting food, water, shelter, and protection when disaster strikes.
Ian, you have been inned!
I wonder where the story is about how the murder of our Ambassador and 3 other Americans in Benghazi would affect the RE-ELECTION of Obama.
i guess libs don't care about the murder and rape of four american patriots...hell, most libs don't know the definition of the word PATRIOT.......their blood is on the hands of obama and hillary and their gang of petty little tyrants......
slo,
It's in the round file with Romney's 2009 tax return and the list of tax deductions Romney's going to take away from the middle class.
Do us all a favor and go look for it.
who cares about romney's tax returns.....what a dope you are...
We care about our troops and about the death of those in Libya. We just don't wear fake patriotism on our sleeves like at least half of the conservatives who preach patriotism when it comes to sending our troops to war, but say "screw you" to taking care of those troops when they come home.
hey mikey???....bullshiat!!
I care about what Condi Rice said about Benghazi . . . look it up and see for yourselves. She basically said that Obama had done the right things, and she urges people to be patient because it takes a while to collect intelligence.
THERE. IS/WAS. NO. COVER-UP.
THIS IS A NON-FACTUAL FANTASY MADE UP BY THE RWNJ'S.
Anyone other than a low-information voter KNOWS this story has NO POLITICAL traction.
You are not changing VOTES by continuing to hammer on this.
You are not changing MINDS.
You are certainly not changing HEARTS.
The family of Amb. Chris Stevens has begged people to stop trying to score cheap political points off of this tragedy.
Finally, everyone but a low-information voter KNOWS this story will disappear on Nov. 7th.
I hope The Haters and The Liars will go back to bed soon.
Meanwhile, O & JOE, 2012 . . . Myth Robme, 1040's!
KNJC:
THERE. IS/WAS. NO. COVER-UP.
Can you really say all of that with a straight face? How many speeding tickets have you talked yourself out of?
Romney/Ryan for Standing Up
Flip flop Romney would be golfing like that idiot Bush. lol
Obama 2012 Romney 1040
While I have great sympathy with the Ambassador, and am saddened that he was killed, there is a lot fishy indeed about this. And I'm talking about the Republicans "knowing" everything about it; in a murder mystery if you can name all the evidence before it is announced publicly, that is very suspicious.
There have been many who have been protected against terrorist attacks in the past, but the Republicans CUT BACK the funding for protection for Consulates. That is also suspicious. And this incident happened before an election.
The more you dig, the worse it looks for Republicans, which is why the Republicans aren't really digging, just blaming.
Earthquakes and tsunamis for West Cost this morning and hurricanes for N. East Cost from tomorrow. See it as a Heavenly pre-election warning for Democrat-voting parts of the country.
Elizabeth has raised a question which not many have. How did the Republicans know so much about Benghazi before even the intelligence agencies knew for sure? Keep digging ...you just might find a Repub at the bottom of this hole..
Elizabeth,
You know things are bad when some bureacrats leak observations and emails. This happens when they see politicians not acting in the best interests of the United States.
1) Our Embassy should have been shut down days earlier. Britain pulled theirs 2 week earlier because conditions were deteriorating.
2) to know it was an attack on the embassy and promote it as a protest over a videa for 2 weeks is about playing politics.
There IS NO PLACE for playing politics when people's lives are at stake.
You most likely cannot say that legitimately! You cannot say that because you are not God and "the rain must fall on both the good and the bad".
The Mormon gods fulfilled their contract. An earthquake on the west coast and a hurricane on the east coast. Now, it's just up the the voter suppression, to give Romney a win.
President Obama will be reelected there is no doubt!
And Jody do you know who got shellacked in 2010? The American people you had radical T-party voted in on jobs, jobs, jobs they have instead put out bills on birth-control, person hood, and abortion. Where are the jobs????
Why is congress at 30% or lower approval ratings? Because we have seen purely partisan GOP/bagger party, that hold the record for blocking, obstructing and filibustering that we have seen in the last 50 years. We won't forget.
O&JOE Romney 1040
if you think things will change during a second obama term ( excuse me...i just vomited) you are more delusional than your post makes you seem....
Would you please vomit somewhere else?
oops my bad...i couldn't help it.......i feel sick whenever i see or hear the president.....
McWack - if things don't change, after President Obama is reelected, it ill be because low-information voters bought the lies Myth Robme & Lyin' Ryan were selling, and we end up with another obstructionist Rethglican Congress that would rather conspire again to make all Americans fail rather than to help this country get back on its feet, and let the Obama admin get 1 ounce of credit.
A VOTE FOR MYTH ROBME IS A VOTE FOR CITIZEN'S UNITED.
VOTE O & JOE, 212, MYTH ROBE 1040'S!
KJNC:
I haven't heard Romney or Ryan insist that the republicans have to have complete control of the House, Congress and the Senate to get anything done? Why can't Obama be a teammate?
Romney/Ryan 2012 just like Lebron, a player can't win the game by themselves
How do you become a team member on a team that does not want you???????????? Stating that you want to make a president a ONE TERM president does not sound much like the other team wants to play at all... so get real...this is not basket ball.........
Vote for the best person. Obama for president is my personal recommendation. But at state levels vote for the best person regardless of party affiliation, We need to get to at least 50% approval of our Congress. We need team players that work together and make a difference. There are many positions to be voted upon. If things don't improve pronto for America, well, welcome to the revolution.
And there are lots of guns out there, the cops couldn't control the situation.
this hurricane is obama's fault!!!!
YES!!! AND GEORGE BUSH CAUSED HURRICANE KATRINA!
WELL . . . . actually, Bush only caused the DISASTER following Katrina . . . .
so, let's elect Robme, because Lyin' Ryan wants to cut the budget to that leftist/socialist gov angency called NOAA . . . what do they know anyway, it's only SCIENCE & MATH - we don't need no science & math in this country - we need a science-free 'smaller government' <yeah, sarcasm in case you're not sophisticated enough to tell.>
O & JOE - 2012 . . . Myth Robme - 1040's!!!
If all those red states encouraged strongly that their children learn science and math, this country might have a prayer of competing in the world. No, they want to stop science just to prove a point, and drag the economy into the dumpster... and they complain about welfare queens!!!
"Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney canceled planned stops in Virginia — one of the most hotly-contested battleground states this fall — on Sunday and headed to Ohio instead."
The Ballad of Sir Mittens (sung to a minstrel harp, courtesy of Monty Python):
Brave Sir Mittens ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head, He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Brave Sir Mittens turned about and gallantly he chickened out.
****Bravely**** taking to his feet, He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Mittens!
Dave:
When there is a tragic situation possibly unfolding, the last thing any one should do is to enter the eye of the storm. I suppose you consider chasing an ambulance bravery?
Romney/Ryan for no more silly excuses
Romney is losing Virginia as we speak. RCP has the race now at "dead even," but FiveThirtyEight has crunched the numbers and Obama's in the driver's seat.
Thank you, Northern Virginia.
Cousin Dave may have been dropped as a child. Maybe more than once. It would be foolish to travel to Virgina in this situation. I do however, applaud President Obama's standing with the people at the White House in Washington. He might be able to do good work from there during and after the storm.
Northern Virginia is what happens when you let folks get that book-lernin'. They vote for Democrats!
Don,
How did you know I was dropped as a child? Good thing I got dropped again, and it straightened out my eyes! Are you my long lost brother?
Dave
Dave:
President Obama lives at the White House, thank goodness he is finally home, rather than doing so many talk shows and fundraisers on your and my dime. It is a natural that he help those in the area, I think I read that in his job description.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Just think, Ohio is going to have some of this storm. We are already soaking here in Ohio, and the rains and winds will be stronger. Of course the winds are not as strong as the east, but we will have floods and possible snow. The roads may close. I don't think it will be a very comfortable place to campaign.
Oh Lord. Are you really saying Romney is a coward for canceling his appearances in VA due to the storm? How ignorant! These kind of visits tie up traffic and police and no one needs a distraction in the midst of this storm. But really, did Romney tell brave Seals to stand down when they heard gun fire? No - uh, that was Obama. What a political coward. The brave Seals who died ignored their orders and tried to aid the ambassador. Please - Obama was the real coward.
It is reassuring that president Barack Obama will be our conduit to FEMA rather than a GW Bush (Katrina) or Mitt Romney.
This election day,...ask yourself : "Who has my back" ?
It is events like this storm that unite the people.
Obama/Biden 2012,...running a country of PEOPLE - not just a business.
GET OUT TO THE POLLS AND VOTE on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012.
Hey 99% !!! NOW is the time to make you voice heard.
This is no ordinary hurricane. Oh, No!! This my friends is the Romney Tsunami!
More like Paul Ryan's release in the White House GOP sauna.
Take one up vote from tshanny, I goofed...
Its usless hawking for votes here serfdom101. We have made up our minds and your guy is outta there. Its already a done deal.
You're right, T-shan . . . . as soon as The Liars and The Haters crawl out of the woodwork, those of us who are educated, intelligent, and actually believe in facts, science, & math, go elsewhere . . . so . . .
The Haters & The Liars are just here yelling at one another, and . . .
YOU ARE NOT changing minds!
YOU ARE NOT changing votes!
and for sure, YOU ARE NOT changing HEARTS!
Good night.
Meanwhile, East-Coaster's: VOTE EARLY . . . . and stay safe from Sandy, y'all!
O & JOE, 2012 . . . Myth Robme, 1040's!
I Think "Sandy" will be a boost to the Obama campaign. If the President acts Presidential, and comes quickly to the aid of the people in the states that were badly battered by the storm it will be a plus in his column. He is certainly capable of showing empathy to those in need and his kindness will be remembered on election day. However the reverse can also hurt his election. If he is running around the mid-west looking for voters, while those on the east coast are suffering great losses he will also be remembered on election day.
President Obama, just remember Katrina...we all learn from past history.
WE saw how obama responds o a crisis. Libya is the example of his empathy. Two weeks from now he wil sand before the UN denouncing the storm for being cased by a YouTube Video.
Not that obama has avoided the Press Corps for the last three weeks. However he did give an informative interview on MTV regarding how HIP Hop is the art form of the new millennium.
Exactly. We've all seen how presidential Obama appears during any tragedy or crisis. This is why it is really hard to defeat an incumbent. It may not seem fair to Romney, but Obama can go to FEMA headquarters, show he's taking care of things, and remind people why he's the President. Romney, meanwhile, is unemployed. He has no place he can go to appear presidential. Even McCain was still a Senator, so he could suspend his campaign and rush back to Washington in an effort to look like a leader. I suppose Romney could issue a premature press release, criticizing Obama before he has all the facts. He's done that before.
A week before the election, everything is political. And in a race this close, this storm could be enough to guarantee an Obama victory. Having said that, we're not going to see the kind of devastation we saw in New Orleans during Katrina. It's a category 1 hurricane (though it is huge), and it's hitting areas with strong infrastructure. There will be power outages and some flooding, but the media is over-hyping it.
Upmost safety for all of our citizens. Its best when Romney stays home, where ever that is.His suitcase of ideas is empty, except for the masks he wears. All he has to offer are lies and distortions.
@Clotho....over-hyping it? I suppose that would be true if it were ONLY the category 1 hurricane that they're getting hit with. If you take your head out of your azz long enough and research, you'll see that there are actually 3 storms combining and converging upon the entire mid-atlantic region. And it is a slow moving monster, so they will be pelted with hurricane force winds and rain for 24-36 hours straight. Millions will lose power; businesses will be shut down; and many will be hurt financially and probably physically.
~~If you're not outraged by the direction of this country, you're just not paying attention~~
President Obama has responded to most situations, but sending in the marines to Tripoli wouldn't have protected our Ambassador in Benghazi. Those who are yelling about it most are from the Party that cut back the funding for military at Consulates.
As for responding to this disaster: There will be flooding and damage from Ohio to Virginia to Maine; no matter who is helped, somebody will be upset that they aren't being helped fast enough. However, if everybody helps as much as possible, things won't be worse than they could be.
New York cut back hospitals in the 1970s and 1980s; they closed St. Vincent's Hospital AFTER 9/11/2001; none of the Wall Street Bankers sent over their bonus checks to help that hospital. The hospital didn't need that much relatively to stay open, but no, the bankers just couldn't give any charity, nor should anybody expect those bankers to give charity now. No matter what help President Obama sends, it cannot replace the lack of hospitals. This is why I am praying for the health and safety of everybody in this storm.
I worry about flooded homes that lack heat with very cold air and snow. Hypothermia kills. Don't forget the blankets as well as the water.
New York City is full of churches, and I am sure that everybody is praying there, but some churches also coordinate relief.
Please contact the Red Cross if needed, and donate to help other Americans.
Obama-Biden 2012
Speaking of the women's agenda:
Imagine being pregnant with complications or ready to give birth in the next few days! Roads are closed; in some places there are no trains or buses either.
Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
Still, there might be something to be said for this system.
You should see all the stupid people standing in lines so long that it would male a store owner jump for joy . You would think early voting ended this Tuesday .
Why is it stupid to be excited to vote? Or to avoid the rush on election day? Obama supporters camped out all night in Milwaukee in order to be first in line. What is stupid about that level of support, excitement and solidarity for our democratic system?
Tom is an ignoramus. Best to place him on Ignore.
Best to ignore remarks on statements by those who jump to conclusions on what is said with out thinking first . The lines I saw were longer than any I ever saw during one day voting , there are a lot of days left for early voting even after the storm and effects pass.
Tom,
"Stupid people"?
For prizing their franchise?
Sheesh, maybe you should go back to complaining about vaccines and the FDA.
Best to ignore remarks on statements by those who jump to conclusions on what is said with out thinking first . The lines I saw were longer than any I ever saw during one day voting , there are a lot of days left for early voting even after the storm and effects pass. And since when are the facts complaining?
Someone may want to check with Pat Robertson but, considering that a strong majority of early voters have already chosen Obama, and now Sandy could interfere with further polling... one could construe this as an act of God...
(Actually, Obama used cloud-seeding technology to create this storm; but the Republican governors will use this as an excuse to shorten or eliminate early voting... but then the Obama administration will use the situation to take federal control of the National Emergency Broacast System to beem subliminal messages into our brains and turn all of us into robots...)
Really!
I read it on the same web page that Willard discovered that Jeep is moving all operations to China... and I will put on my tinfoil hat to telepathically beam all of you the stuff that is blocked by the internet. (actually, I didn't "read" it per se... but you know what I mean)
Not to mention Katrina....and 9/11/2001.
yeah, them and the thousands of families who lost a member of their family in Iraq or Afghanistan, most likely a husband, a dad or a son. For what, not freedom that's for sure.
God bless those who are in the path of Sandy.
It's reassuring we don't have "Brownie"in charge of FEMMA..I'm sure we all remember Bush telling Browie he's doing a great job during Katrina..Good going Bush.A quote for all times,Ditto Heads/
Yeah, that last Republican Administration was a real doozey..remember Bush saying He didn't care about Osama Bin Ladin? Right before He closed the Unit that was looking for him. And, do you also remember the DOW at 7,000 when Obama took office? These exact same people said the market would tank....Well, OBL's been WAXED and the DOW is now at 13,000.......Thats real change....NOT FoxNoise
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
What about all of our dead Servicemen and Women? What about all of our Diasbled from the two most expensive wars in our history ....Romney didn't even bring Veterans up in the Debates
And.......if Bengazi was sooo inportant, why didn't Romney bring it up in the last Debate? PLease tell Me that
Obama/Biden 2012
The last Debate was on Foreign Policy
Why didn't Romney challenge the President on Bengazi?
Or, is that ALL FOX is showing you now because they have nothing else
You are being played
They are using Bengazi to spark your innermost racial feelings, its that simple
And you don't even know it
Well, our President Obama sure took care of the Mastermind of 9/11
Something the GOP couldn't do
And....you can bet your sweet a** He'll take care of the ppl who got our embassy staff and 2 brave Sailors
The Mastermind of 9/11 is Khalid Sheik Muhammad. George Bush got him years ago. Odd that obam has delayed his trial for four years, along with the Cole bombers whose trials obama stopped.
Stupid post, proudamerican.
IndependentThought, you and your ilk are so tiresome. There's no independent thinking in anything you say here.. Your tea bagger mottos of "take our country back" and "the radical left is out to destroy you" must rally bore your teenage daughter.
But what gets me the most is when people like you blame Obama for not being a team player. MAy be it't because the Republican MAfia in Congress has sabotaged EVERY attempt by Dems at reaching across the aisle? They even openly stated it as their goal and cheered on those ugly souls who spat on Rep. Lewis during the health care vote.
Don't give me this crp about Obama being the Lebron who wants to star solo. Apparently Obama's Republicans "teammates" showed up to make sure Lebron was knocked out indefinitely. We all know they're loonie-obstructionists, who would rejoice at every stumble they inflict on their leader. Your ilk is so focused on your own, smug and parochial world view, you can't see nor do you care about people who aren't you.
INteresting term that "Ditto Heads", hadn't heard it in a while, Yeah, I remember it came from the Guy with the formerly Oxycodone stained fingers
Don't worry... all is well... all is well.... The President is taking time off from his campaign to personaly redirect Sandy. Unless things go bad, then it will be Bushs fault. Go Obrama!!! Obrama/Bidden 2012!!!!
I wish he would have PERSONALLY taken charge of our Benghazi situation instead of jetting off to Vegas.
trouble:
That would have taken leadership.
Romney/Ryan 2012
