With the national polls evenly divided, NBC's Chuck Todd says it was President Obama looked like he needed to score more points at the third presidential debate, while Mitt Romney may have hurt himself by playing "prevent defense."
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Deploying the weapon of mockery, President Barack Obama used the third and final debate Monday night to try to portray his Republican challenger Mitt Romney as entirely out of his depth on foreign policy, a tactic Republicans portrayed as over-the-top and ineffective afterwards.

“I know you haven't been in a position to actually execute foreign policy -- but every time you've offered an opinion, you've been wrong,” Obama dismissively told Romney who was sitting a few feet away from him on the debate stage. “You said we should have gone into Iraq, despite that fact that there were no weapons of mass destruction.”
With seven states still very undecided, both presidential candidates have set an aggressive travel schedule to try to win votes in the remaining days. NBC's Chuck Todd breaks down which states are still in play and where the candidates are focusing their campaigns.
Calling his opponent “wrong and reckless” Obama reminded viewers that he – not Romney -- has been the one responsible for making decisions of war and peace for the past three and a half years and that he has actually sent military personnel out on perilous missions. “When I’ve sent young men and women into harm’s way, I always understand that that is the last resort, not the first resort,” he said.
And Obama used sarcasm to ridicule Romney: “You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military's changed.”
In the post-debate spin room, Republicans charged that Obama had cheapened himself by using sarcasm with his “horses and bayonets” comment.
President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney discuss foreign policy in the third and final presidential debate.
“I think it was un-presidential and an attempt to say ‘You know I’ve been around longer than you have’ – and it didn’t come across right,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R- S.C., a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “It was sort of a cheap shot by the president and quite frankly made him look petty --because I think the Navy is too small and the Air Force is too small.”
A Navy at 232 ships – the number that would be left if automatic spending cuts take effect starting at the end of this year -- is “unacceptable,” said Graham. “How do you engage China with a 232-ship Navy?”
"The president made the remarkable statement, I thought, that dismissed ships because he compared them to the horses and bayonets of an earlier time. That's a remarkable statement for our commander-in-chief to make to just simply dismiss one of our armed services like that," said Romney campaign spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom.
“The first thing I think that was noticeable to many voters was that President Obama was on the attack—that he was conducting himself like a challenger. That sends a signal to a lot of voters that he’s not very confident in his agenda, that instead he feels a need to attack Gov. Romney,” said another Romney campaign spokesman Kevin Madden in the spin room.
That’s the point Romney made himself during the debate telling Obama, “Attacking me is not an agenda. Attacking me is not talking about how we're going to deal with the challenges that exist in the Middle East.”
For their part, Obama surrogates in the spin room defended the president’s mockery of Romney.
“This debate was about strength and the American people were looking for somebody who can be commander in chief,” said Obama campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki.
With his horses and bayonets reference, “the president was making the point that clearly Mitt Romney was not familiar with how we equip our military these days and he was doing it in a light and humorous way,” Psaki said,
And Psaki reverted to the “Romney as potential warmonger” theme used by Vice President Joe Biden in his debate with GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan.
When it comes to deterring Iran from building nuclear weapons, “Mitt Romney hasn’t been clear on how exactly he’d be different. Is he suggesting that we should go to war? Is he suggesting we should do more than the president is already doing on sanctions? He’s endorsed and embraced the sanctions that president has put in place and the steps he has taken to bring the world together. What we didn’t hear is exactly what he’d do differently.”
Aware that Obama and Biden were portraying him as trigger happy, Romney said during the debate, “We want a peaceful planet. We want people to be able to enjoy their lives and know they're going to have a bright and prosperous future, not be at war.”
Early in the debate, Romney tried fighting back by interrupting Obama and showing no deference to him, as he’d done in the first two debates.
Romney also tried to demonstrate his knowledge of foreign affairs with two references to the African nation of Mali, telling viewers that “Mali has been taken over, the northern part of Mali by al-Qaeda type individuals.”
But this raised the question: do many Americans know where Mali is and why it’s important?
Romney did effectively repeat the idea that “We're four years closer to a nuclear Iran” – implying that this was Obama’s fault.
In the spin room Sen. Dick Durbin, D- Ill., answered this by saying, “We all understand that they (the Iranians) have made some progress” toward building nuclear weapons.
The question is whether Iran has reached the critical point of building one and Durbin said the Tehran regime hasn’t.
“The important thing to understand is that sanctions are working” which has created a situation “where the Iranians I believe now feel that they’ve got to sit down and talk.”
“I think this was a great debate for us. I think the Romney people probably feel the same way I felt after the Denver debate,” said Durbin

Obama - the incumbent - has advantages to have made decisions that have proven successful.
.
Mitt is encumbered by lack of experience - An Ugly American - who is clueless about the rest of the world.
.
In a recent survey, most Americans agree with President Obama on the foreign policy direction.
.
Mitt the Ugly American -
the Ugly American - a book title of 50 years ago about a clueless American without much knowledge of the outside world who was put in a diplomatic role in a southeast Asia and ended up messing up everything, a prelude to the Vietnam War.
Pigotry, how much foreign policy experience did President Obama have when he took office? How much experience did he have at all when he took office? A lot less than Romney. His whole policy when he took office was "lets hope for change and maybe the world will get better." Ya, we see how that worked out. Look at our economy, look at the Middle East, look at all the lost taxpayers dollars that he poured into bankrupt companies.
Romney/Ryan 2012 (The end of an error)
All we got from the President today was a re-run of Joe Biden's snide and off the cuff attitude. Not strong, just petty.
Overall, Romney came across as having the temperament and demeanor that I would prefer to see in the Oval Office. He presents a more Presidential image, which America would then present to the world. On that score, Romney may have picked up another couple percentage points of the undecided voters.
Congratulations, Mitt! You were superb!
I will proudly call you "Mr. President."
Romney/Ryan 2012
Thank you for that reminder of what the ugly American is. How astute of you to notice the parallels. Mitt is acting the fool toward Putin. Ugly American indeed!
On another note, Romney was a good democrat tonight. He deserves some acknowledgment.
I honestly feel like shaking his vulture capitalist claw.
John Doe-2241225 and Jody-1593626,
I am sure you both were not referring to the United States Presidential debate held in Boca, FL. If you were, there is no doubt that President Obama won the debate hands down both on style and substance. On each and every topic, Romney said, "I agree with President Obama..." Over fifteen times. Romney got kicked (albeit a snide remark) by the President for saying that we have a much smaller navy than the one we have in 1917. Obama gave him a lecture that the our military strength or military requirements comes first from doing an strategic assessment and then allocating resources based on it.
On every topic, China, Middle East, Afghanistan, Israel, Pakistan, Iran, etc. Romney could not articulate how he would do things different from Obama. Even on that $7 trillion that he plans to spend on tax cuts and additional military spending, Romney could not defend himself.
Romney kept his demeanor, composure, and cool during the debate. That is the only positive aspect to him. Romney wants to occupy the throne in the White House so desperately, but he doesn't know how to make it happen. Lots of lies, lots of flip-flopping, no clear answer, etc. That's all Romney could come up with. Obama is better for America and he has shown it time and time again. The nation will be better off with renewing the contract for Obama for four more years.
John,
that was offset by Biden, who has massive FP experience. No one on Romney's team does except for their Bush II-era advisers like Rice or their neo-cons. Neither Romney nor Ryan have an experience in FP and that looks back for a Presidential ticket.
When Obama was elected as the POTUS, I had under-ware that had been to more foreign countries, than he had...
How is Obama's decision to take-over the Afghanistan 'Nation Building' from the UN & 52+other countries??? (1,500+US Troops DEAD & $2+trillion spent)
Iran - When the people were marching in the streets calling for change, what did Obama do/say??? (NOTHING)
Egypt - How is that ethnic cleansing going??? (Supported the killers)
Libya - Qaddafi and now his son murdered by the occupying forces... (Supported the killers)
Syria - As tens of thousands are killed... (Obama sitting on his hands, while China is conducting Diplomatic missions)
I seriously HATE the fact that Romney's whole existence is tactic base and not fact base. This guy changes positions like most change underwear, yet he tactically held or gained precious votes after this performance (my opinion).
Knowing that he couldn't hold a candle to the President on foreign policy, his handlers decided to have him "be Obama" and to shed his neo-conservatism... all the while taking the conversation back to the economy when possible, repeating the "your attacks don't provide the policies...", and leaning on a few catch phrases like the "radical Islam" statements.
That said, he met his goal and became "acceptable" because he will not drop a bomb or start a war... at least this Romney version would not.
Watching the room full of undecided voters brought this feeling home. All said that Obama won the debate without hesitation. But when asked how their vote was swayed, more moved towards Romney than not. Go figure.
It could be that all he needed to do for some was to "check the last box" by not being stupid or radical. He was neither last night. Damn.
I think it worked for now. Will this "image" hold until the election? We'll see.
Obama/Biden 2012
I seem to remember that President Obama had little foreign policy skills when he arrived to the White House in 2008. He had very little skills on economics and yet because he said the words that sounded good, he became President. Romney has major skills to get this economy going, which is America's biggest concern. This election is about getting this country back on its feet!!
Mitt's many years of international business experience, as well as his work with the Olympics have him MUCH better prepared to deal with the complexities of foreign policy than did Obama's "career" as a community organizer in Chicago.
The fact is that the incumbent president always has an advantage of sorts on foreign policy because he HAS been living it whereas there is no way the challenger could have been. But even with that said, there are MANY Americans who feel Obama has made us less safe, has hurt our standing in the world, and may not even be on our side.
Sounds like miss piggy is afraid she might loose her food stamps.
"Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me."
How many times can conservatives continue to be fooled by Republican lies? At what point do they give up and admit they've made a mistake. Etch-a-Sketch Romney is not the answer and never will be.
WOW, what a debate performance by President Obama! He was focused like a laser and on point at all times.
By contrast Mitt was off balance at all times, careening off topic repeatedly and constantly agreeing with President Obama in contradiction to Romney’s own previous positions!
The winner of this one was clear…President Obama takes two in the three game series.
The decisions Obama has made has certainly destabilized the middle east. The Obama record was meticulously laid out by Romney, and it is as deplorable as it could be. Obama appeared petty, attacking, and more of his attacks were based on lies. Funny how Obama hasn't figured out yet that his attack lines have been debunked and the nation knows he is lying. How embarrassing that an incumbent president can do no better then 0-1-2 in the debates, even if the fact is that Obama actually finished 0-2-1. The polls will continue to trend in Romney's favor, as for the third debate Obama was doing nothing but running from his record.
Ah, the Olympics surfaces again. Romney brought the Olympics out of insolvency by collecting more money from the US Treasury than all other Olympics to date?
So how, exactly, will that "experience" go toward improving the solvency of the USA? Perhaps he'll by Canada at a great price, lay off all the public employees, then sell the remaining shell to Germany at a hefty profit? THAT is what his "experience" is in, and it has no application in the public sphere.
Jody, Congratulations. You were totally taken in by Moderatte Mitt. It was an act of pure fiction, just like every other time he gets up to the mike.
freedomfrys
Are they fooled? I think not. Nobody could miss the drastic change from neocon to centrist-left by Romney.
This is simply a move to lie to the independent voters... to lull them into complacency on foreign affairs... to check the "I wouldn't take us to war again" box. This was tactical, not factual. And the conservatives weren't fooled... they embraced it.
If Romney wins on tact based politics versus fact based politics, we will never be the same.
I have a challenge for our conservative posters here. Please just answer these questions:
Are you okay with Romney blatantly supporting a date-certain withdrawal from Afghanistan when his position for an eternity has been to NEVER provide date-certain?
Are you okay with the total reversal on his position on Iran, where he stresses that the current path is proper but he would simply do it better?
And lastly, how do you reconcile the previous hard right positions versus honesty and integrity?
Willard looked and sounded lost. About half the time, he was agreeing with the President, and the other half he was stammering and not even being coherent.
Well, my strategy's pretty straightforward, which is to go after the bad guys, to make sure we do our very best to interrupt them, to — to kill them, to take them out of the picture.
I guess he means the ones with black hats. First, interrupt them, and then, get on your horse and kill them with a bayonet, Mittster!!!! That is, when you run out of religious deferments.
You have to love Chris Matthews latest rant that everyone that wants Obama out of the White House is a racist. According to Chris the only reason Obama will not win a second term is because of race. Apparently Chris is unable to see that the blame, the excuses, the attacks, the partisanship, the pettiness, and of course the endless race accusations have all worn thin on a nation that expected some positive results from Obama. Matthews is just like all the rest of the liberal lemmings, failing to do the job is unimportant, this is racism. Obama doesn't deserve a second term, and now that everyone is paying attention that reality is coming home to roost for liberals.
I see the "throw every bit of mud against the wall and see what sticks" mentality is alive and well here.
Mud throwing really a football "Hail Mary". Since Obama is not Catholic and neither are most of the loyal supports apparently, the "Hail Mary's" will fail, which most usually do.
Obama simply showed that Romney needs to do more than speak in generalities that please what ever audience he is talking to at the moment, all Mitt Romney did tonight is show the American people that he is way out of his league. Basically I heard him say he would do nothing different than the president already has, except he would have done it sooner, which in and of itself is laughable. Romney may have a career as a president, but I am not sure that the Cayman Islands needs one. Romney speaks for everything wrong with this country, the neocons who will spend us into bankruptcy chasing a 30 year old foe, funneling even more money to those that don't need it at the expense of those that do. Romney is clueless and those that continue to support him continue to look as clueless as Romney.
What I don't understand is why the republicans think that we, as a country, can tell another country what to do. If another country tried to do that to us, we'd tell them to go "f" themselves. It's up to the people of these countries to decide what type of government they want to be. We can help them but we can't decide for them. As a country, we've tried that before and it came back to bit us in the behind.
I don't blame the people of Libya for what happened, I blame the "bad" people. Most of the people in these oppressed countries want the same thing we want - life, liberty and justice.
We don't need someone like romney as president. He shoots first and then takes aim. And besides, he doesn't care what happens to anyone anywhere as long as it helps his bottom line. Please help to re-elect President Obama. We can't afford romney.
Romney made himself during the debate telling Obama, “Attacking me is not an agenda. Attacking me is not talking about how we're going to deal with the challenges that exist in the Middle East.”
Attacking you? Sir, with each question poised to you last night, you looked more and more like the village idiot. You couldn't even stay on topic. You constantly tried to change the subject from FP to economics or education. For six years now your position on everything has changed daily to suit your needs.
The biggest question I have of you is this: where in high hell do you plan to get the money for all you want to do? Your math just doesn't add up. Your going to cut the tax rates 20%, increase defense spending, increase education spending, etc. yet you claim you will balance the budget "within eight to ten years". Hum. At least bush and Obama only promised to cut the deficit in half, of which, both failed.
As an American I thought you would understand the people of countries like Egypt, Libya, etc. have the right to self determination, just as we do but by your stumbling answers I guess that right only goes as far as having a government that is friendly to the US.
From watching the debate, this is what I saw:
Obama was tough and in control, even after being injured after Romney threw him to the ground. Despite being battered and bruised, Obama came back out throwing, and Romney's secondary just looked weak and ineffective. Even the moderator commented on Romney's lack of depth at key positions, and how many young rookie's Romney is fielding.
Romney, like always, has some great offensive weapons at his disposal, which he consistently fails to use. Instead, Romney tries to establish a running game where there is none, as evidenced by Obama keeping his safeties way back behind the line of scrimmage.
Romney is also penalty prone, with most of these being stupid penalties. This reputation led to the moderator flagging him for a "horsecollar" tackle, even though the reply showed Romney got jersey, not shoulderpads. At least Romney can rely on his defensive lines, though.
Overall, I give the debate to Obama by six points.
Obama's effectiveness as President? That can be summed up in one word. None.
The last 2 debates really puzzle me. Not the president, not even Romney, but Romney's supporters. Just whom do these "conservatives" support and what are they supporting? It's so blatantly and painfully obvious that Romney changes himself constantly more so than a chameleon. But from a "SEVERLY CONSERVATIVE" to a "MODERATE LIBERAL"? He really turned in quite an impossible trick to change himself from one extreme to another! Are these "conservative" supporters gonna vote for a "Severely Conservative" or a "Moderate Liberaal"? Just who are these so-called "conservatives" or "republicans"? They have absolutely no priniciples and no directions. It is very sad and very dangerous that these people are allowed to vote because they have absolutely no idea nor even care what they're voting for!!! It's like asking a 3 year old to vote which is their favorite color.
Hey Rick..... more than 500 (more than the entire prior history of the country) fillibusters in the Senate against Obama?..... need we say more......
just curious but what debate were you moronic libs watching? what rational people saw was a man behaving calmly and presidential and another man appearing to be under the influence of opiates, confused and angry. obamas pupils were the size of pin heads. the only country this dope is qualified to be president of is kenya. buh bye obozo and moochelle.
Senator Graham, with all due respect you are a neo con chicken-hawk. Why would be be planning to "engage China". Don't you realize the biggest blunder is to engage in a ground war in Asia?
Senator Graham, the only reason to have a big navy is to go to war. You need the navy to move troops to foreign soil. You don't need a navy to protect our coastal waters, we have missiles and land-based aircraft for that.
The days of Battleship-style surface actions ended at Jutland in 1916. World War Two was the world's first "Carrier War" from a naval stand point. The Battleship was obsolete. I think the Bismarck proves the point nicely. Crippled by torpedo attacks from the air the Bismarck was easy meat for the Battleship King George the Fifth. BUT ONLY AFTER the carrier planes crippled her with torpedoes.
Get it?
The next war will be largely fought and won in cyber-space before a single shot is fired or a boot hits foreign soil. The President knows this. We don't need military hardware to win that war, we need cyber technology, software if you will, and a strong, robust economy.
We don't get those things by continuing to line the pockets of defense contractors for tanks, planes and ships we do not need.
We've got an enormous deficit left over from the last time the neo cons were in power and we need to pay that down and you do that by cutting military spending as well as other economic measures.
Wake up and smell the coffee Senator Graham, it's the 21st century and the President is right! You don't like the way the President dealt with your acolyte? Well, let's remember what Harry Truman said, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."
Give'em Hell, Barry!
Obama/Biden 2012
Amazing! Obama was beyond horrible in his first debate and MSNBC, Democrats in general and everyone on that side collectively (to a man, to a women, to a pundit) said so and called him out (I wrote and thereafter, several times on line that he looked like he was trying to loose the election)!
How is it then that when the President has 2 out of 3 wins (the last 2 debates) the far right can invent such obvious and laughable fictions? Honestly, if Mitt had jumped up on the top of the table in the last debate and took a proverbial bowel movement he would/was applauded by FOX and these "I hate Obama more then I hate Mitt" types for being manly assertive, in your face decisive, take no prisoners all while simultaneously being a really nice guy and Presidential... but somehow (to the point of ad nauseum) Obama was just an "angry Black Man! I'm sorry but you guys can never own it because even though you can dish it out... it appears YOU CAN NEVER TAKE IT! By the way for those who did not watch the last debate... Obama decidedly won and in the less then nuanced vernacular of boxing, "it was a knock out with Mitt going down for the count". Proceed Mr. Romney...
This was no Checkers Speech for Mitt but his Nixon/Kennedy!
Mitt-da-Twit at his shape-shifting again ... damn how many times did mitt AGREE with President Obama last nite ... 20 at least ... only smart thing outta mitts mouth was "I AGREE WITH THE PRESIDENT" ...
Obama was amazing .... and the only national threat we have as a country now is MITT ... he's a bumbling fool on foreign affairs ... clueless .... i was embarrassed for him ... it was shameful ... when he spoke first he was all over the place .. when he spoke second he agreed with the president ......
OBAMA 2012 ... for a safe country .. for a safe world .... MITT IS DANGEROUS
You have just absolutely got to be kidding me!
If there is one side that thrown more "mud" against the wall hoping that some of it would stick, it just has to be the Republicans!
Obama is so out of his league that he is down to horses, bayonets, Big Bird and binders.
This is what I have come to understand about Romney.
1. The way he made his money was illegal before Reagan took office. It was illegal to borrow money to buy a company and then cut adrift that company loaded with debt that Romeny loaded it with, while withdrawing funds from it while allowing others to absporb that debt when it went into bankruptcy, often switching the prension fund obligatrions of the company onto the backs of the tax payers. It is essentially an act of theft, yet somehow it became legal to do so beginning with the Reagan Administration. Since then the financial well being of the country has suffered.
2. Romney has done a 180 in the debates from his previous positions. He also claims that Detroit would have been better off if it had gone through bankruptcy as he said it should. Wrong again, the auto industry would have been wiped out., there were no funds forthcoming from the private sector, the only way it could go through bankruptcy was with government financing.
3. At a time when young men were dying in Vietnam, Romney was ducking the draft and protesting in favor of the war. WTF??!!!??? This is the Commander in Chief the republicans want as their leader? What a @!$%#ing back stabing wimp!! For all you morons who want to say Obama didn't serve, here's one for you, there was no necessity to serve when he came of age, no dire threat to our country, no young men being exposed to a war zone, except for the one Reagan had killed in Beirut.
Electing Romney would only bring back the neanderthals known as neo-cons, we know how well that worked out with the last republican administration. Romney is an empty suit that the Koch brothers and others of their ilk will be more than happy to fill.
Generally, in past Olympics on U. S. soil, the U. S. government has accepted and assumed responsibility for paying for security assuring safety for the athletes and the games guests viewing the games. A matter of a few million dollars. Various government departments, notably the Commerce department, the Defense department, the Postal service, etc have kicked in a few million dollars, each, from their own budgets to advertise and promote their own interests in the games. Normally, that's about all the Federal money a U. S. Olympics gets.
However, for the Salt Lake games, after the Mormon Mafia had squandered the corporate and private citizens donations normally used to put on an Olympics, the Salt Lake games had to be bailed out to the tune of over $2 billion over and beyond the few million it would have spent for a normal games. I can still remember watching on the news as Mitt Romney shivered around before the microphones chit-chit-chattering about how much money he had suckered out of the Treasury department.
So when Mitt starts in on the Salt Lake games, remember, he didn't save them, the U. S. Taxpayers did.
just what part of mitts plan, agenda, strategy, or points are the conservatives supporting. there are so many answers to his multiple choice question without any form of a foundation. people you are being duped by mitt the multiply-choice man. dont be as delusional is he has become. clearly this mitt is a frightened little man.
Mother Cluster Duck,
Just like Obama campaigning, challenging everything George Bush had done...
Then when Obama became POTUS, the tunes CHANGED, many of Bush's polices remain unchanged and the big changes promised by Obama did not materialize...
When you are sitting in the BIG Chair, you are privy to the BIG Picture, not the BS the US Media shovels out...
And many of those policies remain in place because of the filibuster, 400 bills having passed the House only to die in the Senate in the 2008-2010 Senate.
Republicans were pretty proud of themselves at the time, why aren't they proud of their work now?
Obama has a lot of smart people behind him. Romney have replublicans and the Bush mess. Before Obama took office he knew who he is and where he is going. Romney, on the other hand, doesn't know to this day, and what's so sad is, he hasn't even gotten into office yet. Presidential wannabe. Ridiculous!
No more NeoCons to lead our foreign policy into reckless wars. I am glad that they are gone..forever. Actually one of the neocons has become an ex-con - after having served a sentence for a crime committed. That's Scooter Libby - even George W. Bush refused to pardon Libby when Bush was leaving, giving Dicked Cheney a black eye.
Pigotry what are you what 12 the thing that you and the president don't understand is that the people really want jobs.
Romney 2012
WOW, the President today just used the word 'reckless' to describe the GOP foreign policy (read the news in the link below). I agree - just find the word 'reckless' from my lastnight's post above (#2). Such an honor that the President and I use the same word and have the same opinion of the GOP.
.

and on now 6 dont let the door hit you and all the pro obama bloggers on here hit you and them in the ass
Since Feb. 2010, when the unemployment picture turned around and and more people started being hired than were being let go, around 5,000,000 (5 million) jobs have been created. More Americans are now employed and working than when President Obama assumed office and more and more jobs are being created and people being hired every month.
If republicans can take there focus off trying to make the president a one term president, and put that effort into helping the president create jobs, we might can get somewhere. But even without the republican support Obama is still marching on. Acomplishing things that many others could not.
Forward ->
Don't forget
Mittwit said we "should not move heaven and earth" to get Osama
Miitwit's visit to England pissed all of them off and demonstrated how out of touch he really is when dealing with people overseas - our best allies.
Mittwit is just that: a Mittwit
you conveniently forget that it was waterboarding that got the intel for the Osama raid. You and your stupid president benefited from from what they wouldn't support and pretend that they are great
You are truly blind. "TO THE FACTS". There is no evidence that waterboarding collected the slighest amount of credible evidence of any kind. There is only republican misinformation.
Look at the amount of foreign policy experience GW Bush had (None) and remember what that got us: 2 wars, thousands dead, $5 Trillion in debt. Romney brings just about as much (or little) experience and his world tour last summer was a disaster. We can't afford to let this guy learn on the job. There's too much at risk...
Obama's visit to Berlin during his first presidential campaign, was the extent of his FP experiences...
Liberals are hung up on one comment, and no matter how far you stretch it the issue is over. Don't move heaven and earth, but take the shot when it presents itself. It wasn't as if we got Bin Laden because of anything Obama did other then say take him out after the military found him. No wonder Obama is losing when liberals can't even identify what it important. Bin Laden is dead, and Bush no longer president, and yet Obama and liberals don't seem to realize either fact.
My favorite part of Mitt's Big European Adventure was in Poland, where he asked to meet the three guys it takes to change a light bulb.
The whole European trip was just embarrassing, and indicative of how we might expect Willard to perform should he rise to lead the United States.
Liberal pettiness. It is the reason Obama is losing, and it demonstrates liberals have nothing of substance to offer. Obama had no qualifications to be president, and it shows. Obama has been coddled by liberal supporters, and the mainstream media. Obama was allowed to fail because no one held him accountable, and now after three debates he couldn't look weaker. Those who are not in the tank for Obama regardless of what he does are all wondering how he got elected in the first place. Obama isn't being judged by liberals for the job he did, he is only being supported because he is a liberal. For Obama and his liberal supporters the only means of getting a second term is to tear down Romney with pettiness and lies, and say nothing about Obama.
In the CBS post-debate snap poll 53% thought Obama won the debate, 23% Romney.
Welcome to reality, Rick...what color is the sky in your world?
Hang on tight to your meaningless CBS snap poll Johnny B from Iowa, the race is clearly trending in Romney's favor and the national polling proves it. Hopefully your hatred can keep you warm at night. Because the blame, the excuses, the attacks, and the pettiness are no longer working.
John B. The left claimed a win in the previous debate and yet the polls continued to shift to Romney. Seeing Obama tried more of the same wrong overreaching and misdirected tactics, I suspect the polls will continue as before, headed toward Romney.
Last night's debate was an endorsement by Romney for Obama. How many times did Romney agree with Obama. That's because he had no ideas of his own. Plus he flipped flopped once again on the deadline to leave Afghanistan, first Romney said there should be no deadline, then last night he agreed with Obama. The headline of the debate for me was when Obama talked about what Romney had said about Bin Laden and when Obama said and yes it was worth moving heaven and earth, I felt so much respect for the President, no doubt in my mind who deserves to be President, and the President should and will be re-elected.
very blind squirrel, You must be blind. The intel for the Osama raid came from a doctor in Pakistan that told the CIA about a courier that worked for Osama. They followed the courier to the place where Osama was hiding. Watched the place for months and discovered a tall man walking in the court yard that matched the description of Osama. They acted on that intel and killed Bin Laden.
Now where in that story do you see water boarding?
Only in Conservativeland where Rasmussen rules all is the momentum going Romney's way. The race tightened suddenly in late September, just the time when that ALWAYS happens. The dynamics of the race haven't changed at all from an electoral standpoint, however. President Obama still needs to take a few of the swingt states to win. Mr. Romney still needs to take virtuall ALL of the swing states to win. http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/
Isn't it funny? The 47%ers are the main ones supporting Romney. But the numbers are a sham only to get the votes out. So since Romney is so close to Obama, let's make sure we get out and vote.
POLL:Who won the final debate?
Vote here: bit.ly/2012FinalDebate
I think the president came out farther on top than in the last one.
Obama finished the debates no better then 0-1-2, and it was more likely 0-2-1. Obama showed pettiness, attacks, and hostility. Obama looked like the one who was losing, and his demeanor was anything but presidential. No surprise liberals feel he won, after all they have turned a blind eye to Obama failing this nation for the past four years. Apparently blaming Bush and we got Bin Laden isn't enough to fool the nation into a second term.
I see the wingnuts have their talking points for the day.
Obama showed who is boss, and who is playing Monday Morning Quarterback. Wrongme got schooled, plain and simple.
Even NBC's Chuck Todd said Obama looked like the one with more to prove. Translation, Obama is losing and this was desperation time. Romney never took the bait, he hammered Obama on the economy once again, and this election will be about the economy. If Obama felt foreign policy was his strong suit, he failed to prove it last night as Romney had a brilliant debate strategy. Romney again looked presidential, he was articulate, he laid out a plan, a vision, and he kept reminding Obama that personal attacks are not details that help the country. Obama finished the debates 0-2-1. Pretty pathetic for a sitting president, but not surprising for one that failed to do the job.
Romney did because he stuck to his plan and not let a child turn it in to an auguring match.
Job's not jab's is what alll Americans want.
Romney 2012
Hey Rick - Did we watch the same debate? Romney's "brilliant" debate strategy (your words, not mine) was to spend most of the evening agreeing with President Obama. Romney didn't take the bait because he couldn't. When asked to articulate how his view of foreign policy was different than the President's, he couldn't do that either. I agree with you that Obama did have more to prove last night. He had to prove that Romney wasn't ready to be President, and Romney made it easy for him.
The US can no longer afford the George Bush brass knuckles approach to foreign policy. 2 wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, $5 trillion in military spending, and thousands of American lives lost have shown us that. Foreign policy in the future will be about forming alliances and relationships based on mutual interests, not military might. Romney doesn't see that and doesn't have the ability to foster those kinds of relationships.
During the time he was governor of our state he was so full of himself that he alienated nearly everyone. A few small but telling examples: He designated a previously public elevator at the State House for his permanent private use so he wouldn't have to interact with law makers. He also cordoned off the hallway in front of his office for the same reason. He left voice mail messages berating the mother of a Massachusetts soldier killed in Iraq because she was too grief stricken to return his calls. His disastrous world tour last summer, where he managed to upset every country he visited, is further proof that this guy just isn't ready for the Big Show. Romney will lose his home state of Massachusetts by more 20% on Election Day is because we know him best and we shudder at the thought of a Romney Presidency.
I 'm done
I'm voteing Romney
You were already done, so don't pretend to be someone who just left the "undecided" column.
On Sunday you said "Was Madonna correct when she said 'Obama is a Muslin'?" http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/21/14598022-16-days-to-go-ryan-tells-iowans-we-need-your-help?commentId=71287677#c71287677
Friday you made numerous posts trying to spin the Benghazi attacks for political gain. Here's one of them; http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/19/14565503-calling-for-patience-on-the-economy-first-lady-asks-for-early-support-at-the-polls?commentId=71258998#c71258998
Thursday was full crazy for you, claiming the educational record of the President of the United States was fictional; http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/18/14539206-democratic-rock-stars-clinton-and-springsteen-stump-for-obama?commentId=71199141#c71199141
Wednesday you were all in on trying to spin the previous debate as a Romney win in spite of a consensus to the contrary; http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/17/14507831-first-thoughts-obama-fights-back?commentId=71143088#c71143088
Tuesday you worked really hard to deflect Lyin' Ryan's soup kitchen photo opp into an emasculation of President Obama; http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/16/14485409-ryan-did-wash-dirty-dishes-during-soup-kitchen-visit
You're a partisan. That's not wrong in and of itself, I'm also a partisan. At least be an honest partisan instead of representing yourself as something you aren't.
As if you were going to vote any other way. Whatever. I'm voting for Obama, atleast we know he's consistant compared to Nitwit Romney.
Which Romney are you voting for, moderate Mitt, severely conservative Mitt. The Mitt at the debates, Mitt as portrayed on his web page, or maybe the Mitt of Romneycare days. Which Mitt is it you are voting for?
I suspect, any Mitt over any Obama is being deemed better by most people.
I backed Hillary and now Romney.
i'm beginning to wonder if romney is a pathological liar or has some other kind of mental problems. he seems out of touch with reality. did he have a stoke and become a screaming liberal all of a sudden. what does he really believe?
Did you not hear? Obama has diagnosed Romney's condition:
Romnesia
rom•ne•sia - n \rohm-ˈnÄ“-zhÉ™
1.
: When you etch a sketch everything you once believed until you make it up all over again.
2.
: Uncontrolled desire to flip flop.
3.
: Chronic use of non-factual information.
4.
: When everything you just said dosen't apply to now.
5.
: A perpetual gap in one's memory
6.
: The selective overlooking or ignoring of events or acts that are not favorable or useful to one's purpose or position.
e.g. You say the government doesn't create jobs, but then say you have a plan to create 12 million jobs 2 minutes later.
Romney is an amazingly gifted liar, isn't he?
Look at more liberal pettiness. Obama tried it in all three debates and came out the loser. The longer this campaign continues the more the nation realizes Obama has no record to run on. Blame, excuses, attacks, and petty schoolyard trash talk is what liberals feel makes Obama look presidential? Romney had a brilliant strategy in the debates, and he made the smartest liberal on the face of the earth look weak and unfit to be president. Obama will continue to plummet in the polls, as he should after the job he failed to do for the past four years.
I will be so happy to not have to watch that simpleton smirk Wrongme keeps on that face. He is mean spirited, stupid, and lost. Clearly we have a leader, and on the other side, someone that is frustrated that he can't buy that.
Romeny was credible and controlled. All of the people I talked to would feel more than comfortable with him as commander and chief. And Mr. President, submarines are not ships that go under the water. This was an insult to the US Navy as he demonstrated how little he knows about the military. And the marines still use bayonets. Poor debate prep.
Kind of destroys the intended effect, huh?
Attempting to spin Obama's comments as a slight to the military is the latest right wing talking point. And it is grasping at straws. The true insult is insinuating our military is as thin-skinned and unintelligent as the right infers.
Credible and controlled? Seriously? Is that why he was constantly stammering and stuttering and sweating like he was in a sauna? All the people you talk to? Not much of a statement, as you likely are shunned by anybody that doesn't share your extremist views. "Commander and chief"...priceless. You obviously know a LOT about the military, don't you...?
BTW the US Navy commissioned it's first submarine in 1900. The first US Aircraft Carrier prototype was the USS Langley with a flight deck added to it in 1922. But this was after testing such a concept starting in 1910 by adding a flight deck to the USS Birmingham. The first successful take-off and landing was from the USS Pennsylvania in early 1911. BTW Democrats refused to take this concept seriously. It was Republicans who moved to develope and commission the USS Langley.
Romney's wife said "her chief concern is Mitts mental well-being". Probably why he flips so much.
Akron - Look into history. The then republican party is the Democratic party today.
To compare, Republicans today don't take renewable energy, or alternative fuels seriously.
Congratulations, Mitt! You were superb!
I will proudly call you "Mr. President."
Romney/Ryan 2012
when i first read your first line i read, congratulations, mitt! you were stupid .... i agreed .. then reread the post ... that's hilarious ... mitt agreed with all of obamas stances on foreign policy ... he is stupid ..... the dude is a moron .. how many countries did he insult last nite causing more friction ... obama was the outright winner for the country as a whole .... mitt was all over the map and got it wrong ... the one and only threat we have as a nation is mitt ....
obama 2012
Did anyone check Mitt's photo ID, cause this seems to be a clear case of candidate fraud?
Old, white guy voting for OBAMA!
Anyone check Obama's ID... it says the Phillipines...real president fraud
You missed the cool bus...voting for change in the last election...welcome to the internet.... now go home.
Haven't you been paying attention, manny? Fraud is OK if you're a Republican.
Thanks for bringing Birtherism into this, vbs. I was afraid bat-crazy Conservatism wouldn't surface on this thread.
Ahhhh!!!! A man of class and intellect. Have you even got a clue as to what is going on here or is it just that you enjoy trying to enforced Neoclown stinking thinking? You didn't miss the bus. You missed the cruise ship. Watch out for those cars when crossing the streets. You may have to change your name to road kill. Where in the heck do the Pubs find these people?
Blame, excuses, personal attacks, pettiness, schoolyard trash talk, and let us not for the best card in the deck, race. That is the entire liberal campaign strategy, and the Obama record for the past four years. Talking points that are entirely pointless. The nation is no longer being fooled by Obama, and the polls prove it. Too bad liberals had their warm and fuzzy summertime party yanked out from under them with the latest poll numbers. This is the time in the campaign where the polling gets honest as credibility is more important to the pollsters then going down with the failed ship Obama.
Now the repubs are all whiney when they got back in spades what they have been dishing out.
Don't play the game if you cant take it. Geez .. spoilt mama's boys. Brats!
Obama id say's barry soetoro aka Obama
When President Obama got into office the whole world was in trouble look at the EU its on the brink of collapse and the USA is still standing its because of his policies and now the USA is a partner in Global politic but before he got into office we where seen as bullies by international community where he has failed republicans forget they they have been blocking him in the house if representatives. a question to you republican if Romney wins do you think he will succeed when Democrats do that to him in Senate?
you gave Bush a chance to finish what he started give Obama a that same chance the next four years will be different because he is striving to get you out of this mess you put us in.
You are smoking so much dope I would like to be downwind. USA isn't standing on it's policies...we are getting hosed by enemies abroad because we weakened our defenses and our president pretends this is a debate about a stupid obscure film while he watches our ambassador under attack (drone footage here).
Obama had 2 years to do what he wanted and was repudiated by the national vote (I'll explain that you you later). We are all tired of you pretending that organizer Obama had any skills to do anything different (and more effective) than the last 4 years.
No, explain it to us now. And stick with facts...your attempts at sounding like you know what you are talking about are almost as good as Romney's.
foreign policy.
Europe is still on the brink. The announcement on the answer to the latest bailout has been put on hold until after November 6 to hopefully not influence this election. Can't be good news coming if it was delayed, could it?
BTW we also have the same unemployment rate as when Obama took over and the Administration conveniently waved 90 day notice of layoffs from defense contractors who's contracts are up in January.
Does our foreign policy include dictating how other countries conduct their financial affairs? I know, let's invade them and set up puppet governments! Geez.
Mitt git out you got owned, out of your depth so all you ideas are Obamas, laughable, he can see Russia from his back porch, lol. Pathetic Repugs. You need a real canidate.Too bd. Horses and bayonets Battleship too funny.
No, I believe, as the president indicated and said at the time, that I supported his — his action there. I felt that — I wish we'd have had a better vision of the future. I wish that, looking back at the beginning of the president's term and even further back than that, that we'd have recognized that there was a growing energy and passion for freedom in that part of the world and that we would have worked more aggressively with our — our friend and with other friends in the region to have them make the transition towards a more representative form of government such that it didn't explode in the way it did. But once it exploded, I felt the same as the president did, which is these — these freedom voices in the — the streets of Egypt where the people who were speaking of our principles and the — the — President Mubarak had done things which were unimaginable, and the idea of him crushing his people was not something that we could possibly support.
***************************
To sum up, Mitt is against a dictator crushing his own people, so - good! "looking back at the beginning of the President's term, and even before that"? That was Bush. Every republican is running away from Bush as fast as they can, all the while embracing the policies, both foreign and domestic, that got us into this mess.
The middle east is in shambles. Al-Qaeda is on the rise in Iraq since we cut and ran without any contingency force that Biden failed to secure. Al-Qaeda has taken over in Northern Mali. Al-Qaeda is in Libya, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, and Egypt. Islamic extremism is now on the rise throughout the middle east because they saw weakness in Obama and took advantage. Not securing a contingency force in Iraq will go down in history as a major blunder by the Obama administration. Obama has now written the presidential playbook for how to destabilize the middle east, and the world will pay a heavy price.
Rick, I'm sure the military has a rifle and backpack with your name on it when you are ready to go over to Iraq and lend a hand. Otherwise I suggest you mind your business when it comes to questioning the CiC's decision to get our men & women out of Iraq. It is easy for chickenhawks like Bush, Cheney, Romney and yourself to decry "Cutting and running" but a failed and flawed invasion of a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 seems like the last place we need to set up shop for all eternity (Unless you are willing to admit that all we seem willing to support and pay for is exporting war and weaponry). "Mission Accomplished" never had such a stabilizing effect years before the mission was scaled back and finally met during Pres Obama's term. Good luck with your support of the "Extremely Conservative" Moderate liar-in-training that we watch last night, but rest assured that President Obama will get a second term, even if by a slim margin.

That's okay. Dick Cheney deserves a black eye. Something to match his black little heart.
President Obama's steadfast leadership has made America stronger, safer, and
more secure than we were four years ago. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, had
nothing to offer in tonight's foreign policy debate but reckless bluster and a
commitment to endless wars.
The American people need to know if Mr. Romney is ready to be commander in chief. He's had a lot of chances to show whether he is, and he's blown every one of them -- getting the facts wrong, undermining relationships with our allies, and confusing who our top enemies are.
Romney is finished, FAIL
Fairly Stupid Rob...
Next time watch the debate.
If you want the wrong facts then pay attention to your president...apologizing for the video..pretending that there was a demonstration before your ambassador was killed.
Head out of the sand...please
For most of the debate, Romney agreed completely with what Obama's policies, indicating that he has almost no original ideas. But he also showed those flashes of complete ignorance of the regional situation and human nature when he blustered on about there being 'all this tumult' in the middle east. 'Tumult' has been happening in the Middle East for most of the last centuries. But 'tumult' is now happening because people of the middle east are demanding freedom and overthrowing brutal dictators. Naturally there are competing sides among the rebels - if they were united they would have never been ruled by brutal dictators in the first place. And naturally some are more likely to be friendly with the US than others - they've been subjected to anti-US propaganda for years and in many cases the US was "friendly" with the dictators they're now overthrowing. And naturally they're all likely to tell us they'll be our allies whether they will or not - they want the weapons and support as they vye for power. And naturally the major world powers are not all united on every decision - the stakes are high for all of them and almost any decision carries some possibility of catastrophically destabilizing rather than stabilizing this historically unstable region. So far, Obama's made the right/bestdecisions on where to get involved and how. He's made the right/best decisions on where to put pressure and where not to. He's managed the Israel relationship perfectly - strengthening the relationship and security while holding them back from taking catastrophically destabilizing actions. (Oh yeah, Romney talks about leading, but seems like he would let Israel lead us!)
very blind squirrel... your screen name says it all. Except you could add 'delusional', that would be ok.
And - Ann, work on your hair a little bit before going on stage, holy cow.
You look like you stuck your finger in a light socket !
When are you fools going to realize that nobody is going to employ a bunch of losers that expect somebody to hand them everything?
Take your Obama sticker off of your Subaru and get to work.
If Obama fools the electorate (again) what will you be asking for in 4 years?
Take responsibility for your future...grab your food stamps...and pull yourself up by your unemployment check!
I suspect about the same time you realize you sound like a fool. Which judging from your post will be later, than sooner. Only a fool would think only unemployed people vote for Obama. If that was the case Romney, and Republicans such as yourself, wouldn't spend so much time talking about the unemployment rate. I'm sure you don't know any unemployed people...right?
squirrel,
Do you actually believe that no republican is on food stamps, medicaid, govt assistance?
You're a fool!
I get this odd feeling that squirrel is unemployed AND on subsistence. Not sure why, it's just a feeling...
My friends that are in the military want Romney to go hell. My cop friends too.
What a gullabill. What a maroon. That's all you Rebs got? Get a job? Go smoke another joint dimwit
I wouldn't think that Romney has National Security Clearance! I wouldn't think that Allies would talk about them either! What can he add to foreign policy since he has not experience other than fund raising in foreign nations?
Chad,
You have a president that had 0 (I repeat 0) foreign policy experience before he fooled you into the white house (an organizer who was busy organizing).
Let's not pretend that his effort to suppress the real story about the ambassador's death makes him more of a commander and chief.
I live in San Diego and have friends in the military and Obama is no "commander".
Kind Regards
But look who he made Secretary of State. Someone with 8 years of OJT with her Husband President Clinton who is a live in teacher at the same time. Hillary should run after President Obama wins this one so the Republicans such as yourself can have 8 more years of crying to do.
Let's make sure we keep a real leader in the White House first, newbob, and send this poser home to one of his mansions with the car elevators.
Sorry, squirrel, but you have proven yourself as uninformed (surprise!). Obama had experience in foreign policy as a Senator (Romney was a one-term governor, and not very good at it, in spite of his lies otherwise). Obama had specific experience in working with the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
And I am starting to get the feeling that you righties are all reading off the same poorly written script. The President is the commander-in-chief, not the "commander and chief." Try educating yourself before making inane posts.
SQUIRRELY COMMENTS .... lol ... Obama proved he is the Commander-in-Chief ... brilliant, concise, honest, ... thats the kinda president the usa needs ... romney wants to cut funding to education in the usa and send to the middle east ... did u not hear that last nite .... he wants to kill woman's choice in america and send it to the middle east .... he's a flip flopper .... he's scary to say the least .. he has no clue when it comes to foreign and insulted half the world last nite including the usa ... he made us a laughing stock.. the world thinks that's all america has ? a bumbling fool ? WHEN HE SPOKE FIRST HE WAS ALL OVER THE MAP (one thing he didn't look at) and WHEN HE SPOKE 2ND HE AGREED WITH OBAMA EVERY SINGLE TIME
OBAMA 2012
“How do you engage China with a 232-ship Navy?” Its easy... you don't! Why would you want to? Pay attention to what Americans really want. We would like to stop ALL BULLYING! We don't want to disrespect another country's beliefs and ideas that is contrary to ours and being a bully is intimidation. Nobody is attacking America's freedom in our country and last time everyone checked, we are still the strongest nation on this planet! Do not entice other nations... NO MORE WAR!
And further more... We don't want and economic war with China either. They will eat each other to stay alive and will win. That's written in history!
You can't engage or beat a country with 1 billion people not to mention the 10-20 million living in this country! Time to think of another way to engage, let's try diplomacy (novall concept, but I think it will work, or at least keep us out of a war with 1 billion people).
Obama has increased the EXPORT of US metallurgical coal by 800% to China...
The US has about 140+years of coal reserves, China has low grade coal, about 40+years reserves. You need coal to make steel...
China has very little petroleum/NG resources in their country. This is why they are investing in Africa, Canada, Venezuela, Brazil, and threatening countries on the China Sea, for energy resources...
Obama is promoting 'Green Energy' that relies on 'rare earths'. China has produced 95% of the world needs for the last decade and has the only commercial production facility. The USA is producing almost ZERO...
The coming World War is going to be for control of resources...
Neither Country has the ability to land and then keep supplied/operational any ground troops on the other soil...
The conflict with China and/or Russia will be due to; access to resources and maintaining shipping lanes...
It will be a War fought @ Sea and with nuclear war-heads...
If the USA feels it's surface fleets are endangered, it will use their NUKES...
The next Ford class carrier has already been cancelled. Some say it was due to the development of the DF-21D Anti-Carrier Hyper-sonic Missile, now deployed by China...
The US Sub fleet is near it service life limits. The China subs , while not as capable, out number and are almost new...
The US long-range Bombers, now less than 125+aircraft, the majority were built in the early 1960s...
Romney has flipped so meny times on every issue that he is starting to look like a mattress at a Motel 6, no stuffing but looks good, LOL!
Obama has done as much as he could concidering the mess that was left for him and all disasters take time to clean up. The financial disaster took out the whole world not just America just look at how many people have been prosecuted because of the lack of control and greed in the money industry, no thanks to the rich Republicans. I do not think Romney or anyone could have fixed this in four years. There must be a reason Michigan isnt voteing for him and why it has taken him so long to even get this far in his quest to be president!!
Give me a brake the winter olympics, I know that it was held in a mormon state, Utah, I belive the church and the state helped to get it on track and Romney took a big pat on the back for it!
He keeps giving himself a big pat on the back for those Olympics, but never mentions the 1.5 BILLION Congress gave him to bail it out, now does he?
Romney's business: Privatize profit, publicize risk.
Same story on Massachusetts health care. BIG government grant funding other states don't get.
He's a fake, a phoney and that squinchy face he makes when he is cornered and clueless gives it all away.
Obama/Biden 2012 Because it isn't 1980, it isn't 1950 and it isn't 1920.
The 2002 Olympics were saved by a huge bailout. Anybody could have sailed in there and taken the credit. Wrongme did. BFD.
GrammaKnows - you are exactly right. If Wrongme was such a popular and effective leader, then why is Obama up by 14 points in Massachusetts???
Answer: The people in that state have seen Romney up close, and they want no part of him.
The real answer:
MA is a blue state. The fact that a Republican even got elected as governor there says a lot. Having a Republican governor doesn't turn a notoriously blue state into a red state, regardless of how good of a governor he was.
John Doe,
Hard to cut sombody off, that won't stop talking. Just ask Bob Scheiffer...even Romney had to agree he was going on...maybe a little too long?
The usual strategy of someone who knows deep in his shrunken heart that he is not making much progress or sense in a debate is to just ramble on so the opponent does not have a chance to expose his ignorance. Remind you of Romney last night?
Well, the Prez didn't look happy at various points during the debate. Anytime Romney related back to the ecomony the Prez was 'bumfuzzled'. He simply doesn't have any answers to improving the economy.
Regarding foreign policy you can tell that the Prez has failed.......Iran's military has not been dimished....just ask the dead 30,000 in Syria. Where do you think they get their weapons from?
I loved the line from Romney about we don't dictate but liberate.
This is the beginning of the end for Prez Obama's term. The next 2 weeks will see the "MO" going with Romney. I expect him to win by 2-3% when all is done.
Uhh, Marty, we did not go over the cliff as claimed by the Republican Deception machine when Obama entered the WH. Remember? We ARE more secure and heading in the right direction now. That is not what Romney wants you to see. Time to open the other eye, you have been asleep too long.
While I didn't see the debates I did listen to them on NPR. The President was superb. He shut mittens down at every turn. All the hate coming from the right is useless, just like their flip-floping, etch-a-sketch, shape shifting candidate. He just agreed with everything the President said and had done! WHAT A RUBE!
FORWARD!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012! we got it straight in 08
Pres. Obama You made our country proud as always. Love YOU & USA!
REPUBLICAN HATERS PRAY THAT GOD FORGIVE YOU FOR BEING IGNORANT! I AM WITH THE DEMOCRATS.
Right you are, Anna! (and furthermore, Iran will stop proceeding with its nuclear endeavors if the United States will stop making chipmunk movies.)
I think im going to vommit , Im a proud Vetran , Republican, and I will vote for Mitt Romney
dlwlost - from one proud (democratic) veteran to another... If you're going to vote for Romney, get used to vomiting, brother, because he is going to make a lot of us sick with his policies and lack of foreign policy experience...
Isn't it funny how he just about agreed with everything Obama said last night? You never know which Romney's going to show up!! "Moderate Mitt", "Severly Conservative Mitt" "Tea Part Mitt" Etc, Etc. This guy's a joke!
"Fuggetabouit"
With Obama, we know what we'll get: W's 4th term. With Romney, who knows?
How can someone that ran off to France project strength to the rest of the world? Someone whose own Grandfather ran to Mexico instead of facing prosecution for polygamy? I see a coward in both Romney and his Grandfather and now in Romney's sons. Is our military below the Romney family? My child is on his 19th year in the military and I can honestly say that's the kind of men and women we need in our government. The Republican Party needs to come back with an American not someone that keeps his money off shore so he not only doesn't have to pay his fair share but an American whose children are not afraid to lose a little blood for their country also. If attacking his family is too much for you, it's a family that moved to Mexico years ago and you're welcome to join them! I'm sick of your petty crying of someone you don't think plays fair. Coming from a party that claims they will do what ever it takes to make this a one term President will never get my vote and those that do give you their vote I say SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Confussed you are right!!
Plus Romney nor any member of his family as far as I know, has ever served in any branch of the military and they never will they have the money to pay. Yet is going to make immigrants serve as part of becomeing an american citizen. So his snide, flip comments about haveing a back bone to Obama were slezzy and uncouth. Maybe that is why he wants the extra 2 tril to pay for the immigrants training.
Obamas running scared his record is catching up and and he acted like joe in the last debate..un-professional and desperate without a plan!
Just pay your taxes and STFU. You obviously cannot figure out what professional means.
And what, exactly, is Romney's plan? You folks are real good at pointing at Obama and blaming him for Romney's faults. Desperate is bouncing from stance to stance, sweating like a stuck pig, and stuttering and stammering your way from lie to lie. You seriously want a fraud like Romney staring and smirking at foreign leaders? At least Bush's smirk was taken as a sign of his shallowness...Romney's is a sign of his unwarranted feeling of superiority.
TAX WEARY ... Romney has a plan .. the plan is "change it daily" "insult other countries" "agree with all Obama's plans" .... how can u vote for him when he has shown over and over again he changes his position on a daily basis ... Romney is the only national threat we have in this country .... he has flip flopped wayyyyyyy too many times .... HOW DO U BASE YOUR VOTE ON MAN WHO CHANGES HIS STANCE EVERY OTHER DAY ..... we need President Obama - concise and forceful yet diplomatic .... mitt is just scary ...
OBAMA 2012
We can no longer afford to conduct a military-based foreign policy. The past 10 years in Iraq and Afghanistan, the thousands of American lives lost, and the $5 Trillion we spent there have been a colossal failure. What's really scary is that Republicans like Lindsey Graham think our navy and air force are "too small" and that we might actually engage China militarily some day. Our foreign policy in this century has to shift from brass knuckles to actual diplomacy. One where we "make friends and influence people" (to use a Dale Carnegie quote) based on mutual economic interests, rather than the threat of military might.
