Did the final presidential debate do anything to influence who you will support in the election?

If I were a Republican I'd be disgusted by the way the GOP has tried to destroy Obama from day one of his Presidency and would vote for him just to punish bad behavior.

Romney accomplished his goal tonight - He appeared calm, reasonable, able to compromise and thoughtfull - in short - Everything you want when thinking of a President who will make sound and considered judgements when dealing with world events.

Obama appeared as the 'angry black man' - his facial expression looked like he should be standing outside a polling place - carrying a baseball bat and ordering his Justice Dept to prosecute only White offenders.

Mitt often didn't even reply to 0bama's personal attacks - choosing to simply recite the mess the U.S. is in internationally after Barak's 4 years - i.e., 4 years closer to an Iranian bomb , total chaos in the mideast and inable to find any workable solutions but merely to drift with the tides of foreign events.

0bama partisans will love the performance of 0bama's aggressiveness ...but independents will look past Barak's attacks and see Romney as very measured and considered and more than capable of operating in a dangerous world

That was Mitt's real goal tonite and he accomplished it.

Obama just looked like more of the same - or as Mitt said - 'just personal attacks covering up for a very terrible 4 years' - where America is descending into chaos both internationally and on the economic home front. Silly word games and street rap ...partisans like it ...but still ....nothing but descent into the abyss by a continuation of the very same policies and attitudes that have led to the great decline and blaming others of the last 4 years.

Don't care how many times you put your copy and paste lies up, It doesn't make any difference for those of us that have Romney pegged. How can you even vote for him without holding your nose?

Where did our President go again? He was emotionally detached and seemed angry again! AT least, he did not show up as the schoolyard bully, like the last debate which showed him as being very UNpresidential. I know that different polls are saying he is in the lead BUT when Mr. Romney is stating facts and our President is only saying "it's not true"--things are not adding up. I think, for me, the most damning statement was the one our President was seen making to Russia's Putin. VERY FRIGHTENING FOR OUR NATIONAL SECURITY. When you see it with your own eyes and hear it with your own ears, if I voted for President Obama I would be voting to destroy our USA.

I was an Obama fan last go around, however I cannot take his constant distortion of the truth( some would say lying). To me this agent of hope and change has resulted in helping destroy our country. No second chances for me!!!

I believe in the FREE enterprise system we have, not what I see now, as a move toward socialism. When the likes of Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Ach Madinasad(Iran dictator) all good commies support the President for reelection its time for a change

I had heard the term apology tour before but didn't know what it meant except for the Youtube clip in Turkey. Obama should have never pressed on that issue. The fact he toured the middle east and apologized on Arab television can not be excused. Any such conversation has to begin with a thank you, for drilling petroleum and creating all this wealth. That apology tour plus the first act of returning the bust of Winston Churchill to England is enough for me not vote for Obama.

Yeah, you got it right working people, not CEO's nor Players, actors, musicians, who will have to pay more taxes with Obama but will not if left up to Romney and in the mean time he runs up the debt. Then he wants to build boats, among other things. If you do not make more then a quarter mill a year you cannot afford to vote for Romney.

What would Romney's foreign policy team look like? The same as Bush's, who, by going Cowboy and unilateral on Iraq and getting in arrears with the U.N., caused so much damage to U.S. relations abroad, Obama, with Hillary and Bill Clinton, have worked doubly hard to make the U.S. legitimate and relevant on the world stage again. Romney's neo-cons would have us overspending and sabre-rattling to play with new toys/assets/put soldiers in harms' way... reckless, expensive and dangerous. Respect our soldiers and their families enough to put them in harms' way only as a last resort. Much of our economic woes from Bush we'll be unwinding for another 20 years... Obama has done an amazing job to stop the bleeding on all fronts - domestically and abroad - by taking the nuanced, stable, long-term approach.

The President looked good spinning and grinning on issues of foreign policy He was very presidential. The question is: did the independent voters watching this debate want to hear a justification of the past four years of his presidency or were they looking for what the President will do for the next four years? I think they wanted the latter. Romney outlined his vision well. The President's was four more of the same. If you are almost tied with your challenger, and you want to impress, how is it valuable to skirt the exact question people want answered?

Independent, funny you should mention that term. A 3rd party candidate (nominated head of the party) was arrested on the night of the second debate because she was trying to enter the auditorium.

Independents STAY Independents because they cant stand the deception that happens when an extreme conservative and a moderate come together in a 2 party system. I bet you'll never guess who is actually the moderate...

The LIV's who watched probably bought into his incessant distortions of the truth.

For me, Gov Romney is a class act, and has the leadership qualities we need to turn around this country. But if Obama thinks he inherited a mess, wait till Mitt takes over- OMG!!! But I believe you wont hear the constant excuses of the previous administration for the problems he will have solved!!

Read up on the term "fiscal cliff of 2013" and keep in mind that Mr. Romney's 5 point plan is based around protecting either:

                    a) the very poor (10%)

                    b) the middle class (85%)

                    c) the upper class (5%)

When it comes time for financial responsibility the next term WILL be hell, but because of the bush administration's failings. Oboma is asking the rich to pay a little bit more, Romney is telling the rich that he wont raise their tax by a dime. Trillions of dollars are going to have to come from somewhere...

The Republicans know that the country will get better in the next 4 years no matter who the president is. The Republicans also realize that if President Obama is reelected all of his policies will have been proven right, by the economic recovery and the Republicans will look rediculous. That being the case, it would be unlikely that any Republican candidate would be able to gain the Office of President following this election.

                        Reply#59 - Tue Oct 23, 2012 12:05 AM EDT

The country will get better because the economy runs in thirty year cycles. But that said, the recovery that is non-existent NOW can be directly tied to Obama's missteps.

The biggest thing a leader can do when there is chaos is to create certainty and confidence. Wasting tax money inefficiently on a stimulus, not addressing bank lending and the housing market and enacting a healthcare plan that we cannot afford does not add confidence. It detracts form it. Failing to address government spending and letting credit go into the dumper also did not hurry the recovery along.

No, all this really stupid stuff caused investors to hold on to dollars, companies to wait to hire, and people to stop buying things. Government got in the way and it was sanctioned by the President who doesn't get how the economy works. He got in the way of all of the things you need to facilitate growth. And he continues to do so now.

Romney's election will give America the confidence to act knowing he understands that it is people who run the economy and not the government. And that our true prosperity comes from what we do for ourselves and others, not through the government but despite it.

I am voting for JILL STEIN. Although, if I lived in a swing state, I would probably vote for Obama. I don't approve of some things the Obama administration has done, but I realize that a Romney presidency would be just as bad, plus much worse in many other ways. i.e., it is clear that Obama is the Lesser Evil. But, since I don't live in a swing state, I choose to vote my conscience and that is for the Greens. I think it's BS that third-party/independent candidates get shut out of the debates and the media actively avoids acknowledging they exist.

I voted for Stein also. If I had to choose between Obama and Romney, I would vote Obama because he is less offensive of the two. But in the end, they are both just corporate tools. Sadly, most of the others comments here are from people who can't see that.

I'm a simple man and Iknow we have several problems. In order to begin solving these problems we need to compromise. Without compromise we cannot move forward. I voted for the president for the reason I thought he would work across the aisles. I was wrong.

By the way, every President seeking a 2nd term (Dem or Rep) uses the "I'm more experienced as the Commander in Chief than you are" card. DUH

However, President Obama is the first President seeking another term that is campaigning on "change".
