The first two debate meetings between President Barack Obama and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney have covered a broad array of issues, but some of the most pressing matters they would encounter as commander in chief were left unmentioned.
Related: Sharp exchanges at second debate
Among the topics covered by the two prime-time outings include taxes, the economy, jobs, Medicare, Social Security, education, immigration, Libya, China, energy, gun rights, contraception, abortion rights, and a whole host of other issues.
As President Barack Obama and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney sparred at the Hofstra town hall on Tuesday, voters who are still undecided told NBC News that they didn't like all the bickering. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports.
To be sure, the format of each debate and the actions of both Romney and Obama, in part, limited the issue scope in each debate. Romney frequently overrode the interjections and questions of moderator Jim Lehrer in the first debate, and the town-hall format of Tuesday evening's debate allowed undecided voters to pose questions in a discussion guided by CNN's Candy Crowley.
Moreover, some of these topics could work their way into the third Obama-Romney showdown, which is scheduled for Monday in Boca Raton, Fla. That debate will focus primarily on matters of foreign policy.
With that in mind, here's a look at the top five issues left unaddressed so far through the first two presidential debates:

FISCAL CLIFF
Regardless of the outcome of next month's election, Obama or Romney would almost assuredly encounter a potential fiscal crisis immediately upon being sworn into office.
While the topics of taxes, spending and entitlements were rampant during the first two debates, the so-called "fiscal cliff" looming at the beginning of 2013 presents a far more beguiling challenge for either candidate come January.
The fiscal cliff is a shorthand way of referencing the cocktail of automatic spending cuts and tax hikes set to take effect at the beginning of next year, the by-product of legislative gridlock which economists warn could do serious damage to the recovery.
Robert Gibbs, Senior Advisor for the Obama Campaign, joins The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd to talk about the President's performance in the debate, and touches on the President's debate remarks on the 9/11 Libya attacks.
Obama and Romney have each talked about their tax proposals, which would presumably compensate for the expiration of the 2001 Bush tax cuts at the end of this year, along with a two-year payroll tax cut initiated by Obama.
But the next president would have to juggle tax reform -- a politically tricky issue in its own right -- with having to reach an agreement to avert the effects of the "sequester."
When lawmakers reached a last-minute deal in the summer of 2011 to raise the nation's borrowing limit and avert default on U.S. debt, they included a provision that would trigger a series of deep cuts -- including steep reductions to defense spending -- set to take place at the end of 2012.
Romney campaign advisor Kerry Healy talks about Mitt Romney's stance on women's issues and whether Tuesday's debate performance will convince women to vote for him.
These automatic cuts were designed to be politically unpalatable in order to provide an automatic incentive for a bipartisan "supercommittee" of lawmakers (which was also established by the debt deal) to reach a consensus plan to address the nation's mounting debt.
Romney has been an ardent critic of those automatic defense cuts and made frequent mention of them on the campaign trail. But he didn’t reference them at all in his first two debates versus Obama.
These looming challenges are unlikely to reach resolution in the lame-duck Congress. That means Obama or Romney, as president, will be forced to confront not just a single portion of their fiscal proposals, but rather, a series of them linked together. Such a consequential legislative fight could consume the first few months of 2013, if not longer.

HOUSING MARKET
A troubled housing market and financial crisis related to over-extended mortgages are the root cause of America’s current economic headache, but the topic received scant attention during the first two debates.
Obama took steps at the beginning of his first term meant to support struggling homeowners, and outlined an updated proposal in February -- but neither had much effect. One of Romney’s earliest events during his bid for the Republican nomination, too, was in a neighborhood full of foreclosed homes in Nevada, one of the states hit hardest by the housing collapse.
But neither candidate paid lip service to the full severity of the housing market except as an aside in a larger discussion about the regulations on lenders included in the 2010 Dodd-Frank regulatory reform law.
Obama accused Romney of wishing to repeal that law, which the president asserted would eliminate rules on subprime housing loans.
"Dodd-Frank correctly says we need to have qualified mortgages, and if you give a mortgage that's not qualified, there are big penalties, except they didn't ever go on and define what a qualified mortgage was," Romney responded. "It's been two years. We don't know what a qualified mortgage is yet. So banks are reluctant to make loans, mortgages."
Viewers looking for more details about how Obama or Romney would handle Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac – the troubled mortgage-lending giants that were taken into government conservatorship in 2008 -- also might have been disappointed in the first two debates. Neither candidate explained how they would move the troubled companies off the government’s books.
IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN
The winding-down wars in Iraq and Afghanistan received more attention during the lone vice presidential debate than they did during the first two meetings between Romney and Obama.
Both Joe Biden and Paul Ryan flub some of the specifics in their vice presidential debate.
American combat troops have been in Afghanistan since 2001 and in Iraq since 2003, and Obama has begun the process of ending the wars in each country -- something of which he has been quick to remind voters during the debates.
Romney has sought to distinguish himself from Obama on both theaters, focusing his criticism on the pace at which Obama has withdrawn troops from both countries, and Obama’s decision to set timelines by which American combat troops would leave both Iraq and Afghanistan.
"America’s ability to influence events for the better in Iraq has been undermined by the abrupt withdrawal of our entire troop presence,” Romney said earlier this month at a foreign policy speech.
On Afghanistan, Romney has also sought to paint stark differences between himself and Obama by arguing that Obama prematurely drew down “surge” troops from Afghanistan earlier this fall. Romney said he would have kept them there a few months longer, through the height of the fighting season.
Still, both Obama and Romney share the same expressed goal of all troops leaving Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
EUROPE'S FISCAL CRISIS
The debt crises beguiling Greece, Spain, Italy and a host of other European nations have imperiled the health of the European Union and its currency, the Euro. Moreover, much of Europe has plunged into a double-dip recession, the effects of which have imperiled the American economic recovery.
But the still-serious situation in Europe has been little more than a punchline for the candidates through the first two presidential debates.
“If the president were re-elected, we'd go to almost $20 trillion of national debt. This puts us on a road to Greece,” Romney said in Tuesday night’s debate, repeating a line that should sound familiar to anyone who’s followed the Republican presidential nominee’s stump speeches this year.
So serious was the situation in Europe that the president took to the White House briefing room in early June -- the same remarks in which he suggested the private sector was “doing fine” relative to the public-sector economy -- to warn about the impact the European debt crisis could have on the American economy.
“In the meantime, given the signs of weakness in the world economy, not just in Europe but also some softening in Asia, it's critical that we take the actions we can to strengthen the American economy right now,” Obama said on June 8.
But the situation in Europe received no attention in the first two debates, even though the EU was just awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize in part for its perseverance through a politically-trying period in its history.
SAME-SEX MARRIAGE
Obama announced in June that his “evolution” on gay rights was complete, and that he supported the right of same-sex couples to marry.
Romney responded at the time by reiterating his opposition to gay and lesbians’ ability to marry while calling it a “tender” issue that deserved sensitivity.
The president’s announcement in June was heralded as historic, but also a politically shrewd move to energize young voters and his LGBT supporters, while also putting Romney in the difficult position of trying to strike a centrist note while not alienating the socially conservative voters who make up a core constituency of the GOP.
But given the magnitude and politics of that June announcement, it is striking that the topic of same-sex marriage didn’t come up in the first two debates. (Even on another social issue, abortion and contraceptive rights, Romney stressed he believes "every woman in America" should have access to contraceptives.)
The absence of the conservative red meat on social issues is made all the more striking by comparing the first two debates of 2012 to the first debate of 2004, when President George W. Bush played up his opposition to same-sex marriage and used Sen. John Kerry’s more moderate stance against the Democratic nominee.
"I believe in the sanctity of marriage. I think it's very important that we protect marriage as an institution, between a man and a woman," Bush said at his Oct. 13, 2004, meeting with Kerry.
"I proposed a constitutional amendment. The reason I did so was because I was worried that activist judges are actually defining the definition of marriage, and the surest way to protect marriage between a man and woman is to amend the Constitution."
But Kerry also stressed his opposition to same-sex marriage, too.
"The president and I share the belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. I believe that. I believe marriage is between a man and a woman," he said. "But I also believe that because we are the United States of America, we're a country with a great, unbelievable Constitution, with rights that we afford people, that you can't discriminate in the workplace. You can't discriminate in the rights that you afford people."

WOW? 5 issues omitted...basically the 5 issues are about which 5 women were put into a Mitt Binder??
.
WOW...GOP's War On Women is still continuing. ........WOW - is - an acronym for 'war on women.'
.
4 more years....
Obama was just quoted saying that he is finally "getting the hang of this debatin' thing." If I were him, I would be ashamed to admit that! He's a slow learner, isn't he? Unfortunately, it is the first debate that mattered, and will be remembered in the voters' minds.
or World of Warcraft. But tell me with this 'war on women', did Obama get congressional approval?
All three debates have ignored the GOP Obstruction issues..
BIG WHY???
Romney is now the "Leader of the non-working, do nothing, filibustering GOP controlled congress with an all time low approval of 7%."
With a record 500+ filibusters, PLEDGES to NEVER generate more cash for the government, ZERO compromises, voter suppression and intimidation, creating war on women, and with NO record of any accomplishments or anything done for the country in 40 years.
The undecided voters keep ignoring or are not aware that the REAL culprits behind the slow recovery on the economy and jobs are the "obstructionist" Republicans controlling congress with cloture and filibusters to stop job legislation and halt Obama's agenda to fix the economy.
Only a "super majority" can stop the Republican obstruction of the past 3 years.
Obama doesn't have a supermajority, Obama only has the senate by ONE and the GOP owns the house and CONTROLS all legislation.
We have a communication problem if these undecided voters are not aware that the GOP has done NOTHING but get in the way of passing bills to promote job and economy growth.
Remember that the President doesn't pass the bills, he just signs them.
Obama has a 51% approval and has been waiting for job bills on his desk to sign but the GOP losers just won't pass any.
Stop "blaming" Obama. Put blame where blame is really deserved, on the 7% GOP owned congress.
Jody #'s-- You should more ashamed that Romney doesn't know the differences between the largest economy in the world, ours, and the economy of Greece. It's a silly comparison to say the least.
CNN Candy crowley just admitted she made a mistake when cutting off Romney about comment Obama made in rose garden about a terror attack instead of a video..She went back and fact checked it and found the video and obama does blame it on the video and not the terrorists..
people cheered when she made the statement agreeing with Obama which turned out to be a lie ! and look on MSDNC website and you will NOT find any story about it because they don't want YOU to know the truth !!
If you want to go back to work the vote for Romney, if you want to live on welfare vote for Obama, choice is simple put a successful businessman to create jobs or a community organizer to put you government welfare !
5 Issues- I get the fiscal cliff, home ownership, Iraq and Afghanistan, and Europe's fiscal crisis, but gay marriage?? Sorry, but that's no where near the top 5 needed discussions and I have a gay sibling!
Don't- Actually I think the fiscal cliff/European Debt Crisis issue can be compared to each other and comparing the US with Greece is valid. Greece allowed their politicans to create a pension system where people earned over 12 months pay by not working- which we all can agree is crazy. Well, due to their lack of representation they are going belly up and we are watching on tv how their population is dealing with it. Similarly, Spain went "Green Jobs" and tanked the 3rd most vibrant economy in Europe in 6 years. Sure scale is different with us, but conceptually we are getting worse off quickly (% wise) by the printing we are doing, the promises we are making, and the overspending we are doing.
On Europe- Did you know that they are our biggest buyer of products/services. If they go down it's going to get really hard here.
On Afghanistan, an article yesterday noted that the US is now negotiating keeping troops there post 2012- not exactly like Biden said, is it?
My point, just think things through on these matters. There's a lot.
How about
Mexico and Cartel violence
The Meth Epidemic, slowing heading East
Lobbyist
Global warming
Carbon Credits, a complete failure
Racial tension, spurred on by the media
The Power Grid
High speed trains
Shovel ready jobs
Cleaning up the debris coming from Japan.
TSA thieves and bullies
GITMO
Pakistan
North Korea
Greece
Somalia
Nigeria
Not every issue is about taxes.
Dcia-
Kind of like thinking that Romney care, a STATE program will work on a NATIONWIDE level. Too damned big. Romney's whole thing is to take federal programs down a notch and put them back on the individual states who better know their own residents to run more efficiently.
Very little said about our neighbors in Central America, except Romney wants to do more busines there.
What about Hugo and Castro?
Nicaragua
Honduras
Lots of issues bigger than gays getting married and equal pay for women or if taxes should be spent on abortions.
Talk to the Hand --
If the STATES had stepped up and helped the uninsured in their STATE then there wouldn't be a NEED for ACA.
Sadly, the STATES neglected to look after their people and 26,000 people of year were dying because of it.
Government is government is government.
JoeNY -- Appreciate your response and understand we face some fiscal issues here BUT our economy is nothing like Greeces, one of most obvious difference is here we have the FED.
It doesn't matter what questions they ask Myth Robme at the next debate - he will just flip-flop again, or not answer the question.
For months he had been saying he as going to cut taxes for everyone - including the wealthiest - by 20%, and that he would do away with Cap Gains and reduce/eliminate the estate tax (already there is no tax on estates worth $5,000,000).
At the first debate he said he would not raise taxes on the wealthiest at all, and denied that his tax cuts would cost ~$5 trillion, which all responsible economists say they will (and even Chris Wallace asked him that Q, and he wouldn't answer).
Last night it was hilarious - he was back to the 20% tax cut for even the wealthiest . . . then, did you catch this, all you "Middle Class Tax Payers: he is going to reduce ALL the interest YOU pay on YOUR portfolios of stocks & bonds; all of YOUR Cap Gains taxes, and your estate tax over $5,000,000 . . .
Another out-of-touch remark by the out-of-touch plutocrat, who doesn't even know who the Middle Class are, and who doesn't care about 47% of Americans . . .
THERE'S your Myth Robme "Middle Class Tax Cut," folks!!! (Oh, and grab a bucket - you'll need that for your deductions - even though Robme won't tell you how big the bucket needs to be!)
VOTE O & Joe!!!
@ mike-2598123 - you are wrong - that is more garbage from Faux News - here is the truth:
Candy Crowley: I didn’t backtrack on Libya. . .
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/10/17/candy-crowley-i-didnt-backtrack-on-libya-in-debate/
OBAMA LIED AND 4 GOOD MEN DIED!
DEMOCRATS FOR ROMNEY 2012!!!!!
so let me get this straight, candy Crowley allegedly walked back the comment on CNN and then one person claims that is Faux News garbage? Now if it happened on CNN how does it become garbage from Fox News?
washingtontimes seems to agree with Mike's statement
http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/conscience-conservative/2012/oct/16/candy-crowley-lies-during-debate-obama-never-said-/
Well if she didn't, she should have, because both HE and SHE LIED!!!!!! Obama NEVER, NOT ONCE in that speech on Sept 12 referred to the Benghazi incident as an "act of terrorism."
He talked about making light of other people's religions (which is what he and his administration told us, for two weeks, that the Benghazi incident was all about. He even went to the UN and lectured THEM about "free speech.")
And he spoke about random/generic "acts of terror".
But again, he NEVER, EVER, NOT EVEN ONCE called Benghazi "an act of terrorism" in that speech.
....and just top prove it, here's the damned LINK to the speech!!!!!
DEMOCRATS FOR ROMNEY 2012!!!!!
I would put global warming at the top of the list. Specifically I'd like to hear Romney's latest spin. Even President George W. Bush admitted it is real and a danger to humanity. Our defense department plans for it. Insurance companies plan for it. Anyone who denies it today also believes evolution is a scam made in hell, President Obama was not born here and is a Muslim, etc.etc. Mitt used to acknowledge it, and now denies it. How can you claim to be a smart businessman and want to be leader of the free world on one hand, and claim to be an idiot on the other?
I somehow don't think you're a Democrat for Romney. I don't think you're an Independent for Romney either. I know what you are, you're a Republican for Romney pretending to be something you're not. That's okay. You fit in with Mitt. He's pretending to be a human, but he's not.
Enough of that, though. Let's talk about your dumba$$ statement. "Obama Lied and 4 good men died."
Gosh that is a catchy little ditty, isn't it?
What exactly did Obama lie about that caused the death of these 4 men?
Let me put it another way: Do you work for a corporation? If you did, you'd see that there are cutbacks going on everywhere. People are being asked to not only do their work, but the work of other people who aren't being hired back. If you worked for Bain Capital, you might even see a pink slip in your mailbox.
In these economic times, we not only expect our government to scale back, WE DEMAND that our government scale back. In this case, scaling back security forces at the Benghazi Embassy resulted in the deaths of 4 people.
From the sound of your statement, you practically make it sound like Obama was playing traffic cop in Benghazi directing the terrorists through the streets and to the embassy compound itself. Just how Omnipotent/Omnipresent do you expect the President to be?
What? He had security briefings that warned of a potential attack? So did Bush prior to 9/11/2001. I don't think we're bringing him up on charges of causing the deaths of over 3,000 US citizens.
Let's face it Zman... Working in the US State Department in oversea embassy duty is hazardous work. Any embassy worker could be stabbed in the street anytime they step out of the compound. Would we want to hang the President out to dry because of this? We maintain embassies and consulates in 189 of the 194 countries throughout the world (Iran, Cuba, Bhutan, N. Korea, and Taiwan are the exceptions). In many countries, we maintain multiple presences in the larger metropolitan areas.
It's unfortunate what happened. I'll guarantee that it's going to happen again with time. Where was your outrage at Bush when protesters stormed our Embassy in Belgrade and set it on fire (Feb 2008)? What about being a little miffed that our embassies were bombed simultaneously in Tanzania and Kenya in 1998? No? Nothing?
It's a risky job, and it's just the nature of the beast. I think most State Department employees (including Ambassadors) understand that there will always be some danger in overseas assignments.
If you truly are a Democrat (which I highly doubt), then you are really a fair-weather friend to this party, and your departure will not be missed.
What is all this talk about Candy Crowley back-tracking her statement last night claiming the President was right and Romney was wrong?
Everything I have read or heard since then quotes Candy as saying "I did not back-track anything I said."
The ONLY source that is trying to make this fantasy come true is FOX news.
Come on ... if Candy herself says over and over that she meant what she said, how can FOX news spin that?
This is a new low for the GOP and pretty scary, too. If something sounds bad for Romney or Ryan, they just make up something that sounds better, and don't care if there is any basis of truth to it at all. And there are gullible people out there that actually believe it.
Frightening.
@ Anjisan1963 - agree - good post!
@ ZMan2012 - stop trying to use a tragedy to score cheap political points - only half of what you said was true: "4 men died"
. . . and Romney shot his mouth off first and said something totally crass & stupid, while - in the midst of these crazy 24/7 news cycles, where people like you demand instant answers to really complex questions - thoughtful intelligent people tried to figure out what happened. It takes time.
At least 2 families - including Chris Stevens' - have asked people to stop using this tragedy for political gain.
in the infamous words of your favorite Queen Ann: "STOP IT!"
Meanwhile, Educated & Inteligent Voters for O & Joe!
I truly believe now that people who watch FOX news are the mental equivalent of those people who believe pro wrestling is real.
Look at the mess we are going to be left with. Another 4 years of these results? Really?
And here's my shout-out of the day to Mr. Romney:
Mr. Romney, since you said before the first debate that you would cut Pell Grants to college students, and then during the first debate you said you would not cut education, and then you said before the second debate that tax deductions for parents who have kids in college would be cut, and last night during the second debate you said you would not Pell Grants, but you are going to do something about vouchers that allow parents of college students to choose their deductions, I was just wondering ...
Which one of those stances should I count on if you are by any chance elected?
Or should I just not count on anything at all since I am merely one of the 47% of life-long taxpayers that is mooching off the government while trying to send two sons to college?
dont carry it all said --- Sadly, the STATES neglected to look after their people and 26,000 people of year were dying because of it. my question for you is how many people die each year with ins?
anjisan1963. so let me guess your for obama of what reason? is it because you love his lies? because he's muslim. bisexual. or is it because he just doesn't have any morals? watch the movie 2016. are you wanting same sex marriage? you like the fact that democraps want GOD out of our nation?you do realize what a country is with out GOD right? if not your gonna soon find out if they make it where he's removed. any man or woman who reads or have read the bible can not say we are not living in the last days. and obama does have his hand in the mix. im not trying to put anyone down that is voting for obama. it's their GOD given right to do so. there is a lot of bad things that suround obama. some maybe rumors. but all rumors have some truth to it. i am voting for romney. i know he is not perfect. noone is. and i don't agree with everything he says. but i do believe he is a family man. he loves GOD. he has morals and he raised his kids with morals. he's not a muslim, and he won't stab israel in the back. the man has more morals and standards than obama. i see this country being a sodom and gomorrah the way nobama is running it. believe it or not this country invites sin. evil is the new normal. we lowerd our standards. we would be really lucky if GOD ever blesses this country again. were a country of needing to repent. the world is running out of time. were running out of time. you have to admit when they started taking GOD out schools building townsquare courthouse. this country started going down hill at record speed. look around. do you want your kids and grandkids growing up in this mess?
Hey Mike #1.5 "BS" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Charles, there is a word for movies like 2016:
PROPAGANDA
Look it up.
As I worked my neighborhood to get out the vote, I had five neighbors and spouses on my block alone who had previously been registered as Democrats re-register as Republicans. Their comments were "we have had enough of the Liberals taking over the party and the party is not what it used to stand for".
I'm sure there are many more like these five neighbors. And, I'm also sure the Liberals will all call me a liar as they usually do.
Jersey Girl, please stop calling people names.
I have been called a teabagger and a bleeding liberal on the same day in this forum.
Please stop labeling people who don't vote the way that you do.
I voted for George Bush - twice - and will never vote GOP again.
Romney's "5" Point Plan +++++++
#1, Tax cuts for the 1% !!!!!!!!!!!
#2, Tax cuts for the 1% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#3, Tax cuts for the 1% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#4, Tax cuts for the 1% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#5, Tax cuts for the 1% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And will somebody on Romney's team please ask him to stop politicizing Ambassador Stevens' death?
Mr. Stevens' father himself has asked Gov. Romney to stop doing it.
Does Mitt Romney have no respect for our dead patriots or their families?
"OBAMA" - Superman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Romney - Stupidman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whow, whoo, whow! How many times did that stuttering arrogant prick cut her off?
I have said it before and I'll say it again. Rombot has no specifics because the Republican agenda would scare the crap out of you.
For readers who don't know what I'm talking about: Ever since Ronald Reagan, the GOP has been run by people who want a much smaller government. In the famous words of the activist Grover Norquist, conservatives want to get the government "down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub."
But there has always been a political problem with this agenda. Voters may say that they oppose big government, but the programs that actually dominate federal spending -- Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security -- are very popular.
Republicans are waging a war on entitlements so if you have no need for Social Security or Medicare keep voting Republican.
Candy Crowley did not backtrack on her statement. I don't understand why people need to make things up. It only further undermines whatever credibility you might have had.
JerseyGirl -- interestingly, I've had the opposite experience. I know a lot of outright conservatives as well fiscal conservatives who say that they can't vote for their own party because it's been hijacked by extremists. Many conservatives are concerned about what their party has become. And most do not like the Tea Party. In fact, many believe the Tea Party has made things infinitely worse.
There is a lot of evidence that the Republican party has gone far right compared to 15 - 20 years ago and a lot of people don't like it.
Some liberals are upset with Obama. But typically, they seem to be upset that he hasn't done enough and isn't left enough. I have yet to run into a liberal who feels like the party has gone too left. In fact, many think the Democratic party is too moderate if not slightly right. Also, as political experts will be glad to explain, the American political system is skewed right. On the political spectrum, American Democrats are actually pretty center and American Republicans are far right. The center of the American spectrum actually ends up being center right, despite the fact that this doesn't reflect the political opinions of the nation.
Here is the Official white house rose garden speach Please show me where Obama calls it terrorism?
OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT FROM WHITEHOUSE.GOV:
I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.
I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.
On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya's transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.
The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward.
Please remember that we are a supposed to be a representative republic. If one state fails to meet its obligations to its people it should not be on all of us. Federal taxes should be for federal things. The federal government takes our money and redistributes it to other states for things that should NOT be in their jurisdiction to do. If one state wants to help out another state, good for them. But, they should not force Minnesota to pay for Mississippi when they would rather invest in North Dakota?
I am guessing they found ONE person that said that, the rest said they were sick of both bought out Parties. At least I can hope.
Garcher,
Really? I don't understand why people like you would lie or mispresent something, especially ones that can easily be disconfirmed. HERE is the full transcript from whitehouse.gov (emphasis mine).
Rose Garden
10:43 A.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Every day, all across the world, American
diplomats and civilians work tirelessly to advance the interests and values of
our nation. Often, they are away from their families. Sometimes, they brave
great danger.
Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on
our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris
Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. We are still notifying
the families of the others who were killed. And today, the American people
stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and
in our prayers.
The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and
shocking attack. We're working with the government of Libya to secure our
diplomats. I've also directed my administration to increase our security at
diplomatic posts around the world. And make no mistake, we will work with the
Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.
Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all
faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others.
But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence.
None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal
acts.
Already, many Libyans have joined us in doing so, and this attack will not
break the bonds between the United States and Libya. Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans. Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.
It's especially tragic that Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a
city that he helped to save. At the height of the Libyan revolution, Chris led
our diplomatic post in Benghazi. With characteristic skill, courage, and
resolve, he built partnerships with Libyan revolutionaries, and helped them as
they planned to build a new Libya. When the Qaddafi regime came to an end,
Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked
tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton
and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there. He
was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who
aspire to walk in his footsteps.
Along with his colleagues, Chris died in a country that is still striving to
emerge from the recent experience of war. Today, the loss of these four
Americans is fresh, but our memories of them linger on. I have no doubt that
their legacy will live on through the work that they did far from our shores and
in the hearts of those who love them back home.
Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked
the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks. We mourned with the families who were lost on that day. I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate
sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery,
and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed. And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.
As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained
because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it,
and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our country is only as strong
as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and
military who represent us around the globe.
No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter
that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we
mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of
America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for
this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.
But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast
to those of their attackers. These four Americans stood up for freedom and
human dignity. They should give every American great pride in the country that
they served, and the hope that our flag represents to people around the globe
who also yearn to live in freedom and with dignity.
We grieve with their families, but let us carry on their memory, and let us
continue their work of seeking a stronger America and a better world for all of
our children.
Thank you. May God bless the memory of those we lost and may God bless the
United States of America.

Ditto, silverton! Two thumbs up! How simple are we if we have to swallow all of what "our party" says. I would love to rack it up to message board bravado, but I know people who do think this way.
I am for Obama because he sounds far more sincere than Mitt Romney does when he claims that our country survives or fails on the backs of the Middle Class. I am for Obama because he tells fewer lies than Romney. I am for Obama because he also is a family man. he loves GOD. he has morals and he raised his kids with morals. I am voting for Obama BECAUSE he isn't a part of the AIG, Lehman Brothers, CountryWide, Merrill Lynch, Bears Stearns mentality that nearly destroyed our nation 4 years ago (unlike Mitt). As a former Republican, I am starting to lean more towards left where Socialism takes care of people; rather than learning towards the right where Fascism (combination of Corporate/Government) enslaves people.
Am I wanting same sex marriage? For myself? No, not at all. For other people? What do I care what other people do? Isn't this America? The home and land of the Free where Freedom is the beacon to the oppressed throughout the world? Sounds to me like you're looking to do a little oppression. Why don't you give your Nazi-like tendencies a rest for a while, Junior?
Our country was a secular nation founded on the concept of the separation of Church and State. Many of our founding fathers (Jefferson, Franklin, etc...) were not even Christians, they considered themselves deists (believers that God is nature and nature is god). Frankly, the country has been going into the crapper the more and more we slip towards becoming a Christian Theocracy. Imagine that.
No. Some rumors are made up for the sole purpose of tricking uninformed redneck hillybillies like yourself into believing there's some grand scheme going on, and only your Corporate Raiding, lie-telling, flip-flopping knight on his shining horse can fix.
Loving God should not be a requirement of office. I'd rather a man scale back on his love of God as President of the United States and amplify on his love of country above all else. What happens when you have a man who loves GOD? Will he serve his country well?
From his Vietnam days, we know that Romney protested the protesters who were against the war while he was in Stanford, and then he promptly ran off to France to hide. He was 18 in 1965 and he turned 26 in 1973 when the draft ended. Somehow managing to not get drafted in the 8 years while he was in prime military age. Nice serving of the country there Mitt.
...Wait, it gets better. He has 5 sons. All of them were between 18 and 26 either during the first Gulf War in 1990 and the second set of wars we entered after 9/11/2001. How many of his children served their country? Zero. Guess, God won out over country on these privileged, elitist children. Yay for God, Boo for the USA.
No. Romney is definitely not a Muslim. He's a Mormon. The same religion that use to suggest that fraternizing with black folks should be punishable by death. The same religion that only allowed black people into their temples after 1978. The same religion that says a woman can not get into Heaven by herself, she can only get to Heaven through her Husband. The same religion that claims that Eden was in Missouri, that native Americans were once white people, and who claim that every saved Mormon man, when he dies, gets to be God of their own world. Wow... I feel better already knowing that Mitt Romney, a former Bishop of this fine religion, may soon be in charge of the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons.
...but wait... We were talking about Israel too, huh? ...And why do we care about Israel? Israel has the most diversified economy in the middle east. They have the most potent military in the middle east. They are the most heavily educated country in the middle east. AND, we send about $3,000,000,000.00 every year to Israel in Military and Economic aid. $3Billion bucks...! Whew... Explain again why we care about Israel on the other side of the Planet? Seems like the Europeans ran the Jewish people out of Europe after World War II, how about THEY take care of the Israelis now?
What can be said about a barely coherent rambling discourse such as this. Let me try to educate you. Here are a couple of things for you to read. The first is an interview that FDR's Vice President Henry Wallace gave in 1944:
...and the second thing for you to read is part of Republican President Dwight Eisenhower's Farewell speech to our country on January 17th, 1961:
...Are you still wondering where the "Evil" in our country comes from? Still curious where the "Sin" is originating from? Here's a hint: Corporate Greed, the integration of the Corporate interests (lobbying) to the Political process, and People like Mitt Romney who thinks it's A-OK to pay only 14% on their yearly taxes (and probably much less) while Middle-America picks up the tab for his lavish lifestyle. Get a clue, you're sounding like a dumb hick.
The world is indeed running out of time. We really need to start reducing our tolerance of evil, Hate Speech which masquerades as religious principals. We really need to retreat from the concept that somehow we can merge Christian doctrine to our country's Constitution. The road towards a Christian Theocracy is a road of intolerance, hate, and violence. Don't believe me? Ask the secular and Christian Iranians how they enjoyed the transition of their country into an Islamic Republic.
No. I don't have to admit that at all. Why? Holland. In Holland, there is little discussion of religion in politics. The government is completely secular, outside of their religion, and their religion exists peacefully as a separate entity outside of politics. Schools are free from Religion, and all public sponsored events do not include religion. People are perfectly free to practice whatever religion they want without fear of repression or violence. The country itself is about 51% non-religiously affiliated, 24% Catholic, 14% Protestant, 5% Muslim, and a smaller mixture of other religions.
The country is a peaceful, calm environment and the standard of living in the Netherlands places it at or near the top of the index of quality of life. For instance: Amsterdam is ranked #12 as far as the quality of life for its residents. The first American city to hit this list? Honolulu, HI at #29. Seventeen cities below Amsterdam.
Religion just adds divisiveness to our country and brings its own set of evils that plague us.
So that, Dear Charles1968, is my lengthy reply to your poorly composed, rambling, sometimes incoherent, misspelled response to my original message.
Being as uninformed as you are, may I suggest that you just sit this election out? You're not going to be doing anyone any good (including your kids, and grandkids) with your poorly placed loyalties and completely wrong perceptions about everything.
Thanks for listening.
Poor Romney, he looked so mixed up at the debate, I feel sorry for the Lying Clown !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Throughout the debate, Obama kept referring to Romney as Governor Romney. Governor Romney of Massachusetts. As the former Governor of Massachusetts and IF his record there is as stellar as he claims it is, THEN shouldn't the folks in Massachusetts be falling over each other to make their former Governor their President?
In the 1980 Presidential Election, Ronald Reagan originally only started out carrying New Jersey and California (the state he was formerly a Governor of). Californians (including this former Californian) loved Reagan, but the rest of the country? Not so much.
So, what about Romney? How's he doing in Massachusetts?
Obama is leading with 57% support to Romney's 42%. Obama is beating Romney in his own state by 15 percentage points.
What does that tell everyone? Not even the people Romney formerly led in Massachusetts want anything to do with Mitt. Let's flush this guy before he forms a ring around our bowl.
"Even the debate monitor called Romney out for his lies, Mitt = Asinine" !!!
"Binders full of women" - a lie, of course.
"What actually happened was that in 2002—prior to the election, not even knowing yet whether it would be a Republican or Democratic administration—a bipartisan group of women in Massachusetts formed MassGAP to address the problem of few women in senior leadership positions in state government. There were more than 40 organizations involved with the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus (also bipartisan) as the lead sponsor.
They did the research and put together the binder full of women qualified for all the different cabinet positions, agency heads, and authorities and commissions. They presented this binder to Governor Romney when he was elected.
I have written about this before, in various contexts; tonight I’ve checked with several people directly involved in the MassGAP effort who confirm that this history as I’ve just presented it is correct—and that Romney’s claim tonight, that he asked for such a study, is false."
Oh, and once he had those binders? He hired women for agencies he then cut the funding for.
There were actually fewer women in executive positions when Romney left office than there were when he started.
He also lied about M.A #1 in education because of his policy when in fact, the policy was put in place by the previous governor.
That scant man can't tell the truth about anything.
In the first debate, Romney told 27 lies in 38 minutes and last night debate, he told 31 lies in 41 minutes. It's astounding records.
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/10/17/1030581/at-last-nights-debate-romney-told-31-myths-in-41-minutes/?mobile=nc
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/10/04/958801/at-last-nights-debate-romney-told-27-myths-in-38-minutes/
"Romney forgot that he vetoed a bill as Massachusetts governor in 2005 that would have given women who were raped access to emergency contraception, or that he supported an amendment this year that would have allowed any business to opt out of the contraceptive mandate, or that he has said he would support a state constitutional amendment that would declare that life begins at conception — potentially making some kinds of contraceptives illegal. Perhaps, Mr. Romney was trying to say that the issue is who pays for contraceptives, not whether women can use them. But all those possibilities are just reminders of how hard it must be for him to remember where he stands at any given moment."

patriotic american: You forgot, the moderator admitted that she was wrong and Romney was right! Oh, and she blew her cover as an Obama gal. That's a heck of a strong endorsement of Romney!
I do believe that Obama has said exactly what his response to the fiscal crisis is: FORWARD! Which means right off the cliff. He's spent 4 years talking about reducing the deficit and has spent 4 years driving it up. That's all you need to know about his position on that. His only proposal to "reduce" the deficit (which it really wouldn't do) is to tax the rich more. And, they'll ignore the fact that it wouldn't make a dent in the deficit even if it raised the additional revenue that they think it will.
Get that info from the Tabloid, that's "BS" - Proof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

local news... reminds me of about 1 yr, 7-8 months ago, Oshkosh truck had a hireing seminar. I showed up on time, already out of work for 3 yrs. by time i arrived, over 3,000 people were already crammed inside a convention center, and the line to get in went out to the bridge. i waited in line for a 4 hours, and still never made it inside the center. Then a union, company rep, and a couple police officers went from the back of the line working way to the front, handing out skip slips if you were to return the next day, on a monday.
I showed up almost 2 hrs early for this one, and from 8am, i last was able to see a recruiter close to 4:35pm. the line when i left was just out the front door, people who refused to give up. thats again over 3,000 people inside looking for a job.
when i watched the debate last night, and the topic came up about jobs, working, looking, and people who they SAY are considered as gave up looking, and i read the posted link a few hrs ago, i felt the same fear i had 2 weeks after i was laid off in 2008 when i seen the job market crumble before my eyes, and i needed a job. Thousands of people all over the US were in the same boat i was. even tho i looked dilligently, no luck. My UEB's ran out, and i was THEN considered as one of those "who gave up looking for work". it makes me angry, like it does the rest of those who are/were like myself. At least Romney pointed this out, even tho is was slightly, it was at least pointed out. People like myself do not want to be a dropped member of productive society by any means. We make this country work, and never give up. i lucked out in more ways than one when i lost my job, and then my UEB's. i had freinds who were able to give me the support i needed, and i not for 1 minute took it for granted. not even close to the number of people had this support, and oppertunity to keep their hopes alive.
IF you think the job market is improving with the total number of new people entering the workforce, and the jobs are "just pouring in" and enough for every one, you are so so not with it, there is no way to describe it without getting banned. those people who entered the workforce in the middle of 2008 when this 1st started were never counted. the partime not counted, and nor are the recent high school and college grads from the past 4 yrs who were not able to hold a job for longer than 3-6 months of full time work, who never even had a shot at being counted in the 1st place.
SO, with all of that.... what is the TRUE down to earth number of unemployed? 47-48% are on welfare, that who qualified at some point in some way who were able to qualify. then add in the 7.8%, the grads at a number one can only guess....
as far as i am concerned, Romney won the debate, hands down with a plan, not another promise to wave a magic wand, made of taxpayer money to throw at problems, and real issues.
Other issues left out of the debates: the failed drug war, the military/prison/ surveillance industrial complexes, the NDAA, and increasing income inequality in our economy. Another issue I would have loved for them to discuss is the growing suicide problem in our military. Our soldiers are more likely to take their own lives than they are to be killed in combat by the enemy and the government or the pentagon has failed to offer any real solutions to this problem.
the debate is nothing but a show for the average TV couch potato; all geared at a 16 yr old level; simple questions, simple 2 minute answers ; their is nothing simple about a total collapse in a nations economy, way of life, and a collapse of a middle class that was the backbone of a once greatest experiment on the planet a Constitutional Republic with a representative democracy.
This is why these comments sections drive me nuts:
Someone posts a blatant lie.
Someone else responds by debunking the lie (often going so far as to cite non-partisan sources).
Original liar never returns or responds.
Ten more people, not bothering to have read anything else that has been posted, post the exact same debunked lie several more times.
This isn't a conversation, a debate, or anything even remotely resembling intelligent discussion. This is just people ranting into the wind. And now that I have shouted my rant into the wind, I think I'm going to exit for now.
Sounds like you already enjoy fully civil rights but don't give a crap about other people, including your own sibling.
Apparently civil rights are only an issue when it's yours that are denied.
I guess NBC news decides which issues are important to Americans, instead of Americans themselves. This article is worthless.
Way to go Anjisan (post #1.40), lengthy but wonderfully written. Do you think Charles read it? Or does he have the attention span to do so? I'm certain his mind isn't open enough to give it consideration. Again, well done.
*** Romney admits he’s been audited by the IRS: Romney made some other -- call it accidental -- news yesterday in his interview with ABC. He mentioned he had been audited by the IRS. In response to question about his tax returns, the GOP candidate said, “[M]y view is I’ve paid all the taxes required by law. From time to time I’ve been audited, as happens I think to other citizens as well… I don’t pay more than are legally due and frankly if I had paid more than are legally due I don’t think I’d be qualified to become president.” The Romney campaign will not say what year he was audited -- only that he was found to be in compliance and that the audit took place more than 10 years ago. But while being audited isn’t that odd, it only adds to the narrative that his tax returns are so unique that it invites an audit.
The fiscal cliff- Let it happen, let it keep happening til the debt is paid off. Send Congress home without pay. What good are they anyway?
The housing market- Four years ago Alan Greenspan stated that what has brought the US out of every recession since before the Great Depression was construction. From most everything I have read it is already on the road to recovery. The Government can't fix something they don't understand, so stay out of it. And the reason they don't understand it is because they have degrees in law and not psychology. Is it any surprise that when people were hit hard in the largest investment of their lives that they are a little skittish going out and investing in it again.
Iraq and Afghanistan- GTFO
Europe- Stop the FED from bailing them out and let them deal with it themselves. Quite honestly, they should all become states in a new country of Europe, with one budget. Hell, Minnesota is the sixth highest taxed state per capita, and we are the 46th in receiving our money back. If we can bail out other states, so can Germany.
Gay Marriage- Government mind your own @!$%#ing business, it is not your place and never was. I am so sick of the social engineering that is going on in this country. It seems that the only time the Congress can agree on something is when it limits our rights. And the only reason they do that is to have something to show the people they represent as if they were really doing something. I say this. Do your @!$%#ing jobs of coming up with a balanced budget, and then after that is done, go the @!$%# home as the founders intended and get a real job.
You know, if I have to be stuck in some sort of organizational school supply, I'd much prefer a Trapper Keeper. Maybe a Twilight, Team Edward, one???
But, that's probably just my inner "tween" talking.
And wasn't Romney in favor of Personhood Amendments during the primary? That's not just anti-choice, that's freaking pretty much criminalizing any woman who has sex and doesn't get pregnant.
Jody,
YOU may only remember the first debate, however YOU don't speak for the entire nation.

By JAMES
FREEMAN
Hollywood star Clint Eastwood made Republicans' day.
But there's a real-life drama that the Romney campaign should spend more time
telling, about a man named Robert Gay. A former business partner of Mitt
Romney's at Bain Capital, Mr. Gay has appeared occasionally in Romney campaign
ads, but reporters have largely ignored his story.
In 1996, Mr. Gay's 14-year-old daughter went to a rave party in New York City
and did not return home. Upon
learning the news, Mr. Romney essentially shut down Bain Capital and flew
to New York along with dozens of
Bain employees to search for the missing girl. Mr. Romney set up a
command center near LaGuardia airport, hired private detectives, and led Bain
colleagues and vendors in combing the island of Manhattan. Bain executives
passed out flyers with the young girl's picture and even accosted people on the
streets and asked if they had seen her.
The Bain search effort made the local television news and triggered an
anonymous phone call from New Jersey that ultimately resulted in the girl's safe
return.
Polling in swing states shows that many centrist voters are deeply
dissatisfied with President Obama and his economic policies but haven't yet
embraced Mitt Romney. Polling also reveals that, thanks in part to more than
$100 million in negative ads from Obama supporters, such voters have mixed
feelings about Mr. Romney's Bain Capital experience.
Clearly Mr. Romney has work to do in properly describing Bain as the great
economic success story that it is. He would also do well to emphasize how his
economic plan will return the economy to robust, job-creating growth.
But telling the story of his rescue effort is the most powerful way to
persuade voters to see Bain—and Mr. Romney—in a new light.
rgray: Actually, that's already out there. Those who pay attention know these stories. Those who chose to be blind and only listen to Obama's media, ie: NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, etc., aren't going to hear it no matter how many times Romney or anyone points out the facts. So far we've seen 3 debates and so far we've seen the moderators do everything they can to help Obama. The thing is that even with all the help Obama's getting, he's still coming across as clueless and as a pathological liar. All you have to do is read the posts here supporting Obama. None of them have any interest in what Obama has or hasn't done or how poorly the economy is doing or how much the debt has exploded under the Obama regime. All they are interested in is tearing down Romney by calling him names. Not one of them actually uses a logical argument of how Obama has done a terrific job or how Obama's policies have been anything better than what Romney has proposed. Admittedly, I can't for the life of me understand how anyone can be undecided at this point, but I do realize that not everyone understands politics and economics. As an individual who believes that it is necessary to enforce the Constitution and who recognizes the brilliance of our founding fathers in drafting that document, it never ceases to amaze me that there are as many people in this country as there are who are willing to throw the Constitution away by basically conceding that politicians are smarter than they are and know how better to spend their money. All you have to do is listen to the language used. Obama and the libs refer to allowing people to keep the money that they have earned in terms of the government giving money to the rich. At least Obama admits (although quietly) that his objective is to take money from those who earn it and give it to those who don't regardless of whether those who don't have even tried to earn it or not.
Don't waste your breath on discussing Bain. There isn't anything that you or Romney can say that will convince anyone who isn't smart enough or interested enough to understand what "venture capitalism" is all about. You know and I know and educated people know that the industry of the "venture capitalist" is about finding promising start up companies to invest in or trying to rescue companies that will otherwise go bankrupt, all with the idea of putting their own money on the line at great risk in the hope of making a very good profit, all the while knowing that the chances of making a profit, let alone a good profit are slim.
Admittedly, Romney and the educated could do a better job or counteract the lie that the billions of taxpayer dollars that Obama spent on GM and Chrysler were sent down the tube for no reason. As of today, if the government were to sell all of its shares of GM and Chrysler, the taxpayers would be out over $25 billion. Of course, the taxpayers are currently out about $60 billion because these companies have tried to buy out the government at current rates and Obama has refused to let them as he still want his hand in forcing them to produce worthless vehicles like the Volt. What would have happened if Obama hadn't spent our money on these companies? They'd be exactly where they are today, except that the real owners of the companies would still be the owners (instead of the government and the unions) and they would have more freedom to pursue the production of vehicles that actually produce a profit. I guess it's more important to reward your supporters than it is to see that the country is taken care of, at least in Obamaland.
It should read Afghanistan only, since I believe that we have been out of Iraq now since beginning of year.
@Anjisan1963 said: somehow don't think you're a Democrat for Romney. I don't think you're an Independent for Romney either. I know what you are, you're a Republican for Romney pretending to be something you're not
You do realize that people DO vote outside their party, right? And there will be Democrats voting for Mr. Romney. Many that voted for Mr. Obama in 2008 - will not make that mistake again. Like it or not, that's politics.
Romney said he would delay the withdrawal of troops from Middle East, that is enough for me to know what he stands for.
I guess he would use those to attack Iran to support Israel and careless how many would die while we wait there.
Of course PMSNBC goes after the insignificant matters, or more accurately the one they think have been omitted.
How about the biggest issue we have been ignoring for 32 years?
EDUCATION!
K-12 education (or for you Begindergarten believers, B-12).
Our college education system is such a mess, that's another story.
Our criminal federal government Public Education system is a national embarrassment. We spend more than any other nation, except Switzerland, on education and we rank in the bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of all other OECD nations in reading, math and science.
Just about every problem facing our great Republic is a direct or indirect result of our failed elementary and secondary school system.
Poverty, crime, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, unemployment, government dependency, obesity and more are a result of our children graduating as illiterates. The biggest tragedy is we keep promoting a college education when most of the students getting in are woefully unprepared.
One significant problem is that we have the 3rd generation of illiterates being graduated. So when we talk about "parents" being involved, often times the situation is we have illiterate parents trying to teach their children. The classic case of ,"The blind leading the blind".
When we have industries admitting they have millions of good wage jobs available but no workforce educated to fill them, our economy collapses more. The concern about giving out work visas for people from abroad is misdirected. Industry needs to fill those positions to continue to succeed and profit. If our education system can't provide it outside sources will continue to be used leaving Americans working at Red Roof Inn cleaning rooms.
The "Good Ole Days" are gone.
The days of an unskilled, untrained, illiterate workforce making $50 dollars an hour with benefits and legacy costs is long gone. There are 6.7 billion people in the world willing to work for whatever they can to survive. Those jobs have been offshored for good.
Automation, technology, innovation and decentralization are the primary reasons for many of our unemployment problems. Most of these situations require advanced training and degrees. These are concentrated in science and math, our weakest subjects. Most industries give harder application tests than our schools do to ensure the labor force can read and understand warning and procedure rules for safety and security reasons.
You can all sit here and worry about contraceptives, sexual preferences, someone’s tax returns, Big Bird and the dysfunctional government we have while the rest of the world passes us by because the same government wants to keep you fat, drugged, stupid and politically correct.
We have severe systemic and functional defects in our economy. The economy is our biggest concern today and probably for the next decade. Without significant reforms in our education system, trade agreements, criminal progressive tax system, job killing regulations, unions and energy policy we will continue to wallow in low wage jobs as emerging economies surpass us.
I guarantee you, other than the 60-70 million people which watched the debates, most Americans have no idea what the real issues are. They will either vote based purely on indoctrination, emotions or on partisan ideology. More than 90% of Congress will be reelected, again, and in four years we'll all be right back here doing the same thing.
The most immediate danger is the fiscal cliff. Once again our cowards in government will throw another patch on the problems, delay any real austerity measures and in a year or two we'll still be dealing with more credit downgrades, massive under/unemployment, stagnation and uncertainty.
The nanny state mentality must be purged from our society. Government has never and will never create jobs. The true free-market based on a Constitutionally limited government and fiscal responsibility is our only hope. Keynesianism and Progressivism has failed us through the past 100 years. It's time to lead in the 21st century not cling to the 20th century failures.
ROMNEY/RYAN 2012 FOR REAL AMERICANS©
How about this for a conspiracy theory...
...it was a group of fanatical-ultra-Conservative-tea party Republicans who did a high and low search for a "recently fired" conservative leaning anti-Obama ex-CIA operative and paid him to go to Libya. His mission was to case the Embassy and come up with a plan of attack against the Embassy Staff and then turn over a You Tube link containing a very incendiary video to a local jihadist. This ex-CIA operative told the jihadist that in order for this to be successful, the jihadist would need to create an environment where there would be daily demonstrations - violent demonstrations. The ex-CIA operative said that a few days before the attack, the jihadist would need to squash the demonstration, send everyone home, then wait a few days before attacking the Embassy. The ex-CIA operative said that he needed time for the Administration to do threat assessment and then deny reinforcements to the Embassy. Once the denial was sent, the Jihadist his green light to attack the embassy.
In comes Romney - who by the way, already had given his press response, before everyone actually knew what was happening. Now isn't that fishy?
The more relevant fact for the nation's economy would be that 4 of the companies that produced Bain's 10 biggest gains ended up in bankruptcy court, according to the Wall Street Journal:
Looks like Mitt believes in privatizing gains and socializing losses.
It does not matter what the topic is.
The Romney/Ryan "presidential" platform is: "Trust us!"
Obama/Biden 2012!
So what? I mean you righties are hollering about this like Obama has been found stealing gold bars from the federal reserve to buy drugs. Who cares?
There is absolutely zero significance in Obama not running like a mad man to the mike and telling everyone this thing was an act of terror 3 seconds after it happened. I have yet to hear anyone, well Cheney might want to drop a bomb on them or commit another 10K troops to a ground war to "get even", explain why it matters if the Administration spent a few extra days making sure they had the correct facts.
You people are completely off your rockers. It's getting to the point that 90% of what you say sounds like it was produced by someone in a drug induced fit.
I get it. You hate Obama. Guess what, this is how we felt about Bush and Bush was a heck of a lot worse for everyone than Obama.
AND YES, I'M GOING TO SAY IT. I KNOW YOU ALL WANT TO FORGET ABOUT IT AND PRETEND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN BUT WE ARE HERE TODAY BECAUSE OF GEO W BUSH. HE AND CHENEY DID THIS. And unless you are a complete simpleton you understand it took 8 years to get us into this hole and it will probably take a few more than 4 to clear it up. For the brain trust, out there on the right, it takes 7 years for something to roll off your credit history, yet you some how imagine Obama can fix this mess in 4.
Oh please. You are no more a Democrat than I am a door stop. Get over yourself.
This is the third time you have given a mistruth on Obama's speech on Libya in response to this article. I even heard this speech in its entirety on the news. Please stop telling mistruths. If you are truly for Romney, you are not doing him any good, since many people have the perception he changes his minds on issues. Please stop it. Here is the speech.
END

It has taken about 20 years to get in this mess because of Bill Clinton's decision to repeal the glass-stegal act, which deregulated the banks. The unempoyment rate under Bush was never more than 5.5. Also, he had a demo congress and senate the last two years of his term. He tried several times to get them to put more regulations on Freddie and Fannie, but the bill never got past the senate to go to congress for a vote. The democrats wanted everyone to have a "shot" at home-ownership, so you can thank the dems for the mess we are in.

I AM BARACK OBAMA AND I SUCK!!!
PAID FOR BY TAXPAYERS!!!
DO YOU REALLY WANT A PRESIDENT THAT HAS BEEN REDUCED TO BEGGING FOR YOUR VOTE?
...
It is a shame how people view the country running from a narrow tunnel with a low perspective. Perhaps if they will care to educate themselves and view it from a big picture, we can elect the right politicians, which this country has failed to do for so many years. From the President, Senators and Congressmen/women.
The Benghazi consulate incident, alone, is not indicative of a foreign policy just like the attacks to the Marine Barracks under President Reagan, the USS Cole bombing during President Clinton. Do not buy into politicizing this issue as foreign policy, there is at least 196 countries/governments that this country needs to interact with, friendly or not.
Charles1968,
Its obvious you do no like the President and you won't be voting for him, but perhaps you should direct your arguments to more meaningful discussions than personal attacks...You may believe he lies and others believe he is telling the truth, but please tell us where you learned that he is muslim and bisexual...Seems like you're the one who lies.
Who said Democrats want God out of the country? Did you learn that at your propaganda church...perhaps its the one that suddenly removed the label that Mormonism is a cult...how convenient!! So after decades of labeling Mormonism as a cult, all of a sudden its legitimate? Because it was removed from their website??? No wonder people are turning away from religion...
Romney loves money and he'll do whatever it takes to be President, even if it means selling his God to you...Are you saying that Obama isn't a family man? What proof do you have that he is not?
So you learned everything you need to know from 2016...Wow, no wonder we're going to the dogs...if people like you only believe what you get out of a propaganda movie and can't do the homework for yourself, our kids and grandkids really are screwed...and its nothing Obama can fix because you can't fix stupid.
Perhaps you should deal with your own personal internal struggles rather than vent on newsvine about sodom and gomorrah being the model for our destruction...
Yes, he did. The GOP has a majority.
mike-2598123 - BULL S H I T . Apparently you haven't watched the VIDEO of the Rose Garden speech ( uh. .it's on YouTube for chrissake ) OR read the TRANSCRIPT on Whitehouse.gov. Obama CLEARLY calls it an "act of terror" and Candy Crowley was 100% CORRECT .
The fiscal cliff is what the GOP has created ... remember that last summer the President wanted to make compromises, but the ugly GOP homely girl played hard to get...thus we all wanted to jump off a cliff.
.
the ugly GOP homely girl refers to all the Congressional RepubliCONs collectively.
INSTALLING PRESIDENT ROMNEY ....…………….
█████████████▒▒▒ 85% complete.
STALLING Mitt 85% complete??
Jody, I am totally with you on this....you are not alone!!!!!!!!!!!
Jody - you need to reboot - Mitt won't be installed - there is a HUGE program failure!
Obama/Biden 2012
Jody,
Speaking of corrupted files, where are Mitt's tax returns...especially for 2009?
INSTALLING PRESIDENT OBAMA ....…………….
████████████████ First Term 100% complete.
███████████████▒ Second Term 90% complete.
America finally got a glimpse of the real Mitt Romney last night when the President called him out on several issues.
Mitt's plastic smile vanished for much of the time, and his happy-go-lucky demeanor went south. He looked like he could have chewed glass and after the debate he was probably ranting at some of his staff for setting him up with that false information about the President's statement regarding "acts of terror."
I bet somebody's GOP head rolled on that one.
Liberals like to avoid the serious issues.
If there was a vote at either of these debates, Obama* would have voted, "present" like he did at all of the votes in the senate when he was the illinois senator. thanks to the law enforcement officers and prosecutors that the illinois governor was impeached and prosecuted for offering Obama*'s senate seat for sale to the highest bidder. now there is a new corrupt governor in the murder capitol.
And you women liberals are concerned about a word.."binder"..so don't get your nitts in a bind over this but Obama lost both debates.
Obama* spent over 1 billion dollars so far and it is at best a near tie with Romney a few points in the lead, while Obama* was in the oval office but never in the lead...
Ok, the housing mess was not a Republican idea, the war in Iraq was voted on and approved by both the Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats had control of the House and Senate from 2006-2010. The Democrats spent money like drunken sailors while they had control of both. So how is this the Republicans' fault?
President Obama bounced off the canvas with a more spirited debate at Hofstra University on Tuesday night, as everyone expected he would. He was animated and on the attack. The question we kept asking as the evening wore on, however, is what does he want to do for the next four years?
At least two questioners put the point directly, yet Mr. Obama never provided much of an answer. Sure, he wants to hire 100,000 more teachers, as if there is the money to hire them or it would make much difference to student outcomes.
He wants to invest in "solar and wind and biofuels, energy-efficient cars," which probably means more Solyndras and A123s (see nearby). He wants to raise taxes on the rich—that's one thing he's really passionate about. Oh, and he does want to pass the immigration reform he said he'd propose four years ago but never did propose in his first two years when his party controlled Congress and he might have passed it.
But otherwise, what's his case for four more years? Judging by Tuesday's debate, the President's argument for re-election is basically this: He's not as awful as Mitt Romney. Mr. Obama spent most of his time attacking either Mr. Romney himself (he invests in Chinese companies), his tax plan as a favor for the rich ("that's been his history") or this or that statement he has made over the last year ("the 47%," which Mr. Obama saved for the closing word of the entire debate).
Gay marriage and abortion are items the Federal Government should not be involved in at all. That is the issue that should be addressed. But, since they do deal with it, then it becomes a matter of Civil Rights, and therefore, is very important.
Jefferson, you are so funny - corrupted file!!!!!! ...Mytt's tax returns?
The only thing Romney would be good for is cleaning the DNC Cesspools !!!
@ Pig..that was when the congressional Black caucus walked out. and the democrats went on vacation...
Obama* lies and too many americans die.
now 800,000 children of illegals have a 2 year temporary work visa with no jobs. the list was on the government net for law enforcement to investigate law breakers, and back taxes from illegal workers and their parents. Obama* is such a scammer...lol
Yes but all Obama plans have higher taxes tied to them and no cuts in spending
Look take all the money from the rich and then what?
Rich/poor white/black Mexican/Chinese gay/non gay man he did such a good job bringing us all together go Obama what a leader
This is an honest question for Romney supporters that I would really like to hear the answer to.
Obama gets lambasted often by conservatives because he wants to "redistribute wealth" by taxing the rich and giving tax cuts to the middle class and the poor. And this, according to many conservatives in unfair.
However, Romney claims that:
1.) First, he's going to give a 20% tax cut across the board. (Which, btw, would mean that even a larger portion of those on the bottom will now be paying no taxes).
2.) He's going to make that tax cut budget neutral by cutting tax loopholes for those at the top but NOT cut tax credits and loopholes for middle class and poor (because he says he doesn't want to tax the middle class and poor more). So, for that to work mathematically, that would mean that he would have to cut enough loopholes so that those in the top are actually paying more than they are now to offset the cost of the middle class and lower getting the 20% cut.
So, in the end, if Romney is telling the truth that means that he wants to tax the rich more and tax the middle class and poor less.
Exactly how is that different from "redistributing wealth" and how is that different from what Obama wants to do? Like I said, this is an honest question and I would like answers from Romney supporters.
jersey girl
Theoretically only congress can declare a war. In an emergency a president can make that declaration
HST "The buck stops here." When you are president you have to accept responsibility for everything that happens on your watch. Mr. Romney seems to deflect every distasteful responsibility with the greatest of ease. I didnt say that, I didnt do that or I dont remember, even though the fralties are well documented . An egotistical flaw in his character that is not conducive to the presidency
UNMASKING THE ROMNEY LIE....…………….
█████████████▒▒▒ 85% complete.
Romney is going to lie, distort the President's Record, use fear tactics, and lie some more. Republicans do have a clear choice:
They can remove the President simply because they do not like the idea of a black man in office.
or...
Republicans can put on their big boys and girls pants, take a step back, look at the bigger picture, and really listen to what Romney is saying. Call it all for what it is, B.S., that will destroy this country - like they should. Look most of you cohorts at FOX and other Republicans around the country are starting to question Romney. It's a fact that's incontrovertible. Take your blinders off...you don't need "just any" Republican in office, so bad, that you're willing to vote in someone that's a complete liar and fraud.
Well, it's been nearly 24 hours and there have been several hundred more responses on this article since I posted my question and not one Romney supporter has responded... I wonder why?
Yeah..Mitt should have elaborated on his MediScare Plan (based on his Tea Potty dogMa) to throw our grandMa under the bus.
.
very scary...Halloween is here and Mitt is coming to town
@ Pigotry...You liberals pick such appropriate names for yourselves....{©¿©}
Obama* is hiding so much..take "Fast and Furious" for one example. how many people died? 7 just because the dems have this conspiracy to deprive rights under color of law...title 42 chapter 1983 usc....
How many Mexicans died?
You see he wanted the Mexicans to die with American guns so he can say that we need to crack down on are gun laws he is a sorry excuse of a man
"When Pigs Fly" +++++++++ !!!
very scary...Halloween is here and Mitt is coming to town yes with a job plan pack you lunch you lazy pig it's time to go back to work
Romney 2012
"Opinion and analysis from Scientific American’s Board of Editors"
Romney never discussed his future visions for America outside his comment that the elite need the extra money to hire more workers. He intends to go back to the previous taxes of the Bush Days rather than moving forward with new ideas. However, Obama has mentioned numerous times about needing to invest in some newer technologies like wind power, etc. What kind of successful and honorable business man exploits companies by forcing them to go bankrupt, laying off the employees, and sending those same jobs overseas while at the same time making huge profits from his exploitation. Is this the kind of honesty and integrity that you want to see in the White House??? The U.S. gave Bush 8 full years to totally destroy our economy, etc. over 2 wars paid for by credit cards for WMD's that did not exist, more tax loopholes for the elite, etc. Yet, the Republicans feel that Obama (who has had less than 4 years to clean up their 8 years of mess left behind for him) having those 4 years was more than enough time to accomplish all the clean-up. Obama has slowly made some progress. Whereas, the Republicans have continued down the road of regression, voter's suppresion, and destruction to include the lack of human rights here in the U.S., esp. with the women's health issues, salaries, jobs, etc. to the point of wanting to legalize legitimate rape. What a sad day for all Americans!?!? Oh, and let's not forget that those "binders of women's file folders" was not developed by Romney as he implied in the debate. Those folders were given to him by a MA League of Women. Did he select candidates from among any of those women inside the folders??? Do the research for yourself. Stop your whinnying and following blindly to support a Party or leader, who is not good for this Country while ignoring the other 47%. And if you are part of this 47%, then you need to stand up to Romney/Ryan by saying, "NO" to their one-sided standards for the elite only, while you watch your SS, Medicare, etc. disappear down the drain. Don't let them borrow more money from those funds to wage more wars against other countries. The elite are not the job creators. But it is the middle class, Americans with small businesses that supply the vast majority of jobs as-well-as the creation of new jobs. Think about it and then vote wisely !!
Obama/Biden for 2012 as-well-as a complete Democratic ticket !!!!!!!
@Rgray1965
And how supply them the guns? The agents from Arizona and we all know what that whacky states are thinking about.
Love the picture at the top of the story. It looks like they are singing a duet. Possibly "I say Potato and You say "Pototto" (had to do something to potato the second time to get the inflection, not that everyone doesn't know the jist of the song.) Or maybe they were singing "High hopes. We've got high hopes. We've got high apple pie up in the sky hopes."
Talk to the Hand - Do you think that Pigotry had too much coffe last night?
As far as I'm concerned the one issue that will keep coming back is Libya. If you fact check this story the truth really comes out. This administration is hiding something.
I hope it does not, but if the economy hickups before the elections Obama is a sure goner.
Agree on the Pigotry thing. This is like the third or fourth time today he has started a thread having a "conversation" alone.
And yes, they are attempting to hide the fact that they dropped the ball. I think they will eventually admit it but for now, they have to brainstorm and come up with the perfect "press release" so as not to make it look totally incompetent. That alone is a tough order.
Oh and I don't think the economy will be allowed to hiccup until after November 7. Actually wouldn't fare well for Obama in his bid to retain office and at the same time, should Romney win (we can all hope) it would be perfect timing for a downturn for the sour grapes liberals and give them another month to do nothing to turn it around so that he has to deal with it starting right out of the blocks in January.
Hey, Talk...you got No substance! Just Empty TALK ... to the hand
"My name is Pigotry and Fiesty Redhead approved this message."
No substance hmmmm? Shall we explore posts #1, #2, and #3 above to get said substance? If that is what you speak of, I will pass.
Ummm- what about climate change? Is that not a significant issue that was overlooked?
There is nothing that humans can do about the changes that the earth is going through now. unless you want to pour water on volcanos..
Obama* is having a mansion built in Hawaii, so I hope that he is smart enough not to build it on a slope near one of the volcanos...
And there was another terrorist attack attempt in NYC at the Federal Reserve. Do not give Obama* credit for the catch because the law enforcement officers will be working no matter who wins the next election..
Thanks to the FBI and others who caught this muslim terrorist.
Obama* went to vegas right after the attack on the embassy and that is offensive to the americans who died there.
If the people who died voted early and then died, would their votes count after they died?
" There is nothing that humans can do about the changes the earth is going through now. unless you want to pour water on volcanoes"
It's for pathetically stupid people like yourself that we would even have a scumbag like Romney running for office. Don't vote, and for the sake of humanity, do not procreate!
You do know that factcheck.org is like motherjones ($50,000) as funded by the DNC.
What do you want to know about Libya (US AFRICOM):
Without disclosing Classified (information withheld from US Public):
Life during President Gaddaffi, contract with Libyan Citizens in his "Green Book": Loans to Libyan citizens were given with "NO interest". Students would get paid the average salary for the profession they are studying for. If you’d be unable to get the employment the state would pay the full salary as if you were employed. When you got married the couple got an apartment or house for free. You could go to college anywhere in the world, the state paid 2,500 euros plus for accommodation and a car. The cars were sold at factory cost. Libya does not owe money, (not a cent) to anyone, No credits. Free education and health care. 25% of population with a university degree. No beggars on the streets and no homeless. Bread costs $0.15. Gasoline $0.33 per liter, during the attacks $0.66 per liter. All this disappeared after the Overthrow of President Gaddaffi.
President Gaddaffi and Libya as a US Ally, to get the President Bush US and UN Sanctions and Embargoes lifted so he would ship Libyan Oil to the US European Allies: Collaborated with the CIA. President Gaddaffi had his Libyan Military hunting the Islamic Jihadists at Libya. Stopped his pursuit of Nuclear Power. Turned over his Chemical Weapons to the US. Transfer of US Islamic Jihadists Prisoners from Guantanamo to President Gaddaffi's Prisons (including later President Obama's). Human Rights and Libyan Citizen's Rights as praised by the UN and UA (African Union).
The Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations is demanding President Gaddaffi's Death for Collaborating with the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers, a Death Penalty Fatawa is issued.
Most of the work that the Libyan Citizens do not want to do are done by Foreigners brought into Libya, and have no Libyan Citizens Rights nor the Libyan Citizens Entitlements listed in President Gaddaffi's Green Book.
The Holy Warriors of Islam (aka Islamic Jihadists) are gathering at Libya, after the Overthrow of US Ally Egypt. Many Intelligence Agencies are stating that these Islamic Jihadists are the Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Hezbollah, Al Quada Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc. as trained by the Quds Special Forces of the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran at the Fundamentalist Islamic Autonomous Kurdistanis Region of Northern Iraq, Syria, Southern Turkey, and Northwestern Iran to Overthrow the Established Governments of US Allies.
President Gaddaffi warns everyone about the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists gathering at Libya, President Gaddaffi's Military starts to fight them. President Obama ignores this just like he ignored US Ally Iraq, US Ally Egypt, US Ally Saudi Arabia, US Ally Turkey, US Ally Pakistan, President of Syria, etc. until it was too late.
President Gaddaffi f**ks up, declares Libyan Oil Nationalization. Due to President Obama's Policies the US and US Allies have lost the Iraqis Oil, this makes the Libyan Oil of Strategic Importance to the US European Allies.
Why Benghazi: Thousands of Islamic Jihadists flood into Benghazi with the Asymmetric Warfare intent of killing the Libyan Military Guards, seizing the weapons, ammunition at the the 60 bunker Hight Razma facility on the eastern outskirts of Benghazi and a 35 bunker facility on the eastern outskirts of Ajdabiyah." The term "bunkers" is a misnomer as some of these "bunkers" were the size of warehouses. After the Libyan Military Guards were massacred at these Libyan Munitions Depots, the Facilities were left unguarded. This is how about 20,000 shoulder launched portable SA-7 anti aircraft missiles ended up "missing"; believed to be currently in the hands of Al Quada and the rest of the Islamic Terrorists (Jihadist, Worldwide Islamic Military), possible use shoot down US and US Ally Commercial Airlines (Aircraft) worldwide (after all the other publicly known failed attempts); most US Military and US Ally Military Aircraft have detection and countermeasures (some are still shot down by SA-7s, mistaken for RPGs (similar warhead). ). Then inciting the Foreign Workers brought into Libya to demand Libyan Citizens Rights and Entitlements.
President Gaddaffi sends his Libyan Military to fight the Islamic Jihadists and Foreign Worker Protesters and Demonstrators gone violent (murdered Libyan Military).
President Obama then claims that President Gaddaffi is a "Dictator Killing his own people" (not Gaddaffi's own Libyan Citizens but Islamic Jihadists).
President Gaddaffi orders the Foreign Workers to leave his Country, most do not and actively join the Islamic Jihad to Overthrow President Gaddaffi the Collaborator to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers; again the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations demands the Overthrow of President Gaddaffi.
The Libyan Oil: During the "G" Meeting at France, that was attended by SOS Clinton, the European Oil Corporations Lobby the European Politicians to Overthrow President Gaddaffi to stop his Libyan Oil Nationalization (majority of Profits remain in Libya).
These European Oil Corporations demand President Gaddaffi's Overthrow to stop his Libyan Oil Nationalization: BP (Britain), Total, Elf (France), Eni (Italy), OMV (Austria), Statoil (Norway), etc.. So instead of these European Oil Corporations hiring cheap Libyan Labor then keeping all the Profits, with Gaddaffi's Resource Nationalization, they would get almost nothing and the majority of the profits would remain in Libya. So in anticipation of their Governments Military Actions to Overthrow Gaddaffi to stop his Resource Nationalization, "Non essential" personnel were evacuated February 21, 2011.
US Military "Boots on the Ground": US Army Special Forces LTC Woods and his Specialized Security Teams are at Libya since February. It is Routine to attach US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces to the CIA's SAD/SOG to conduct Targeting and Target Damage Assessments to minimize Civilian Casualties during Airstrikes and Cruise Missile Attacks. The US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces Missions are routinely Special Reconnaissance, Special Surveillance, Foreign Internal Defense, Insurgency (training the locals to Overthrow a Established Government), Counter Insurgency (stop others from Overthrowing a US Ally's Established Government), Rescue Recovery Recapture of downed Pilots, Counter Terrorist, etc..
President Obama as Commander In Chief Orders the US Military to attack Libya in violation of the US Law that Restricts or Limits the Presidential War Powers, US Law, 1973 War Powers Resolution (Act). President Obama failed to notify both Houses of US Congress 48 hours prior to ANY US Military Actions. US Congress does not have time to write a US Law with US Congressional Appropriations, like they did for President Clinton (42) and President Bush (43). President Obama uses not previously Budgeted for Discretionary Spending including to fund NATO's Bombs, Fuel, Cruise Missiles, etc.. Afterwards on behalf of President Obama SOS Clinton apologizes to US Congress, "I'm sorry".
The Results: President Gaddaffi is murdered. Most of the Libyan Citizens that benefited as President Gaddaffi Supporters flee Libya (See Life During President Gaddaffi above). The Islamic Jihadists get another Islamic Nation. Mediterranean Ports closer to attack the US European Allies aka Crusaders. US European Allies lose the Libyan Oil to the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran's Ally, the Chinese. 20,000 portable shoulder launched anti aircraft SA-7 missiles end up in the hands of the Islamic Jihadists with their stated goal of shooting down US Civilian Airlines "to cripple the US Economy". Strategic Location for the Islamic Jihadists to get the other African Nations, just like Egypt was key to get Libya.
The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group were those Islamic Jihadist Foreign Fighters that were killing US Military at Iraq, they become the Government of Libya.
david-475776,
Thanks for explaining whats going on. I appreciate it and would hope that others do as well.
david
having met and spoken to moamar ghadafi before he was allowed to become president I am not as enthralled by your diatribe as howard. I suppose you can substanciate your facts, because I am more than a little skepticle.
My nextdoor neighbor relates stories about mother jones staying in her house when she was helping to organise the coal miners in Mingo Co in the 1920's so I suppose they would lean left. Did you give credit to the author of your article ? They seem to have a right leaning agenda.
ROMNEY/RYAN WILL WIN IN A LANDSLIDE ON 11/6/12!
Two major national presidential polls are out today. Several statewide polls are also out as well. In the Gallup presidential tracking poll Mitt Romney had a 6% lead among likely voters and a 2% lead among registered voters. When likely voters were included in the Gallup poll President Obama was at 45% compared to 51% for Mitt Romney. When registered voters were included in the Gallup poll President Obama was at 46% compared to 48% for Mitt Romney. Third party candidates combined with undecided voters were at 4% among likely voters and increased to 6% when registered voters were included in the presidential poll. Gallup released their presidential tracking poll at 1 p.m. ET, Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
Rasmussen Reports presidential tracking poll had Mitt Romney with a 1% lead nationally. President Obama was at 48% compared to 49% for Romney. Third party candidates were at 1% and undecided voters were at 2% nationally. Rasmussen Reports released their presidential tracking poll this morning, October 17, 2012.
RUH-ROH!!!!
Cometh...you do understand that we elect the President through the Electoral College. National popular vote doesn't really matter....ask Al Gore. The key to the election is the toss-up states...particularly Ohio, Virginia and Florida. Romney has a tough hill to climb to win in the EC. It could happen but he has to win Ohio.
Hold tight onto the myth that VOTES on Election Day, don't matter and toss-up states remain toss-up States on 11/6/12.....check the "trend" over the past three weeks and keep telling yourself......Obama is doing much, much better now.....especially after his first debate!!!!
Had the polls said that Obama would win by a landslide you would be whining that they are biased in favor of liberals and shouldn't be trusted. Now they are as good as Gospel. Hypocrite.
The polls are as predictable as Romney and are just as unreliable. They change from poll to poll and day to day. The only thing that will matter is the election.
Cheating, that's how Romney might win. They did it twice before. Probably even more than we know. Slime balls.
Karl Rove was right on one thing, "I can sell these Americans anything, because I have. Put in a bit of religion, cover it with tax cuts and that b.s., point out how we'll grow the country and get them hooting and hollering against each other. Have them point fingers and fill them with key words for insulting and bingo, they're off. They sound stupid to us and I wouldn't want to be around those idiots, but who cares, they're getting the rest of the dumbells riled and that's what we want. Works every time."
I was at an I T Security challenge between to colleges and of the 42 students who competed 40 admitted lying to pollsters so I would not give Obama* so much credit. he shorted the pell grants and they show up a month after classes start.
You try going to college with a student loan and start classes without needed supplies for 5 weeks. it is not easy to catch up, being 5 weeks behind in the next 10 weeks of a 15 week class times 4 or 5 classes...
Romney is right..you have to borrow more money, even if you get a student loan. Both of my parents died. my father from war injuries and my mother from poor medical care with medicare during Impeached Bill Clinton's scandalous administration. And Obama* made fun of that in one of his insulting campaign ads. "Borrow money from your parents?"... Get a clue Obama*.... take one on your way out...
I didn't mispell the word two. To the keyborad that sticks..to two too.
When you finally get the Pell Grant..save some of it to pay back the high interest stafford loan.
I.E. A 7,500.00 loan will be more than triple that with the interest. a word to the wise.
Buy stocks in companys that pay dividends and get a little money every quarter. better than a bank..
14% of 20 million is way more than 50K in the other misleading Obama* commercial. They would like you to think that the guy who earns 50K a year pays more than 2.8 million that Romney paid in taxes. "Do the Math".
The Democrats are making too many Fear Based campaign ads because it worked last time...Do not be fooled this time.
Sorry, Iamnotyou,
Your info is completely untrue. President Obama doubled the amount of Pell Grants for eligible college students during his first term. Since Bush/Cheney left the country in the economic toilet, he knew students and education would be hurting.
I have two sons in college, so I keep up on this stuff.
Ah yes, his program for Black students. We won't forget that one.
Sorry, Momma, but if you are referring to me, I am Caucasian and so are my sons.
So, your little quip is foolish and racist, but then - so perhaps are you?
Four years Hope and Change now pay check to pay check higher gas food is going so high when was the last time you bought family steak for dinner and now Forward my ass backwards more like it
The President said before he was elected that it would take more than four years to fix the economic problems that Bush and Cheney left behind, and the President said it might take more than eight years.
Save your cursing for the ones that are to blame, and remember ...
a vote for Romney/Ryan is a vote for four more years of Bush/Cheney.
Obama is going down on 11/6/12..............and in a landslide! All he's got is his SOSDD!!!!
INSTALLING PRESIDENT ROMNEY ....……….
█████████████▒▒▒ 85% complete.
I am also IN ... Stalling Mitt Romney...I am with you on this.
That's Mitt's problem - he thinks he's entitled to the presidency and it's a real inconvenience to have to get voters to elect him.
That came out clearly in the Boca Roton video. Mitt figures he can lie, scam & buy his way to the presidency.
Sorry Mitt - but you're on the wrong continent for that. Go back to Mexico or further South where that kind of stuff happens.
We don't need a president who intends to write-off, sell-out, or bankrupt 98% of Americans and says - TRUSt me, I'll do better; or - of course my budget will balance!
This guy has spent far too much of his life without people challenging him and he's far too radical and reactionary to trust as a commander in chief.
McCain had good reason to hold so much disdain for this fool and their was a reason every other primary contender thought Mitt was a spoiled obnoxious putz.
He still seems to think that some 401k pension plan that has a portfolio with some remote balances of global economy investments is the same as a company he owned and operates where he personally flies to China and directly overseas the outsourcing of jobs that where once American! My 12 year old can make stronger arguments and yet the republican candidate for president of our United States is prancing around stage with that like he's in some sort of 'gotcha' moment.
America doesn't need a pretender.
Obama/Biden 2012
Would you care to add the Freedom of Speech Toolbar?
@ tim Heth. you are surly confused by the Obama* ads. it was Obama* who spent over 600 million to get elected in 08 and McCain only spent 240 million.
That was after both candidates Signed an agreement to "only use public funding for the general election" which Obama* backed out on almost immediatly. This time Obama* spent over 1 billion so far,not including the super pacs and party spam ads.
Installing Obama will definitely create a crash. Install Mitts anti virus program and get this country moving again!
I don't think many people realize the severity of the collapse in housing construction.
The legacy of the housing collapse
In 2005 over 2 million homes were started, but over the last 3 years construction has averaged 580,000 homes. This is the lowest number in almost 50 years. The drop of 1.5 million in starts removes 500 billion dollars a year from our economy, that means 4 million jobs* and up to 20% of the unemployment. This 4 percent of our GDP. Over the preceding 30 years construction averaged 1.5 million homes and never went below one million homes.
And how did we get here?
Republicans assert that Obama' has not fixed the unemployment problem. Is that the real problem? Unemployment figures are distorted by one key economic segment - housing construction. Twenty percent of unemployment rises here and no one is going to lower the unemployment percentages significantly until it recovers. The impact of the housing collapse on unemployment was not recognized when Obama came into office.
In 2005 over 2 million homes were started, but over the last 3 years construction has averaged 580,000 homes. The one and a half million homes at 2006 prices approximates 500 billion a year * .
This accounts for 4 to 5 million jobs. Many people in the housing industry are self employed and don't show up in the unemployment stats. At least 1/3 would be counted as employees and show up in the stats, they are the 1st to go and last to return as owners do what is left. This is the real issue, not unemployment as we have known it in the past. Remove this and public sector layoffs and we would be down to @ 5% to 6%.
Regarding recent Republican challenges to unemployment statistics - the BLS statistics are reliable but have one glitch - seasonal adjustment. When a sector of the economy - home construction - is seasonal in nature and is suffering a major collapse statistics become distorted. Unemployment will appear high starting in early spring and low as we enter Fall. Few people realize the extent of the collapse in home construction. Five hundred billion a year. On a per capita basis it is worse than the great depression.
You've hit the nail "Square" on the head. I am an Obama supporter. Voted for him in 2008 and have already cast my "absentee ballot" for this election. I'm currently in Brasil. With that said, there's one question I would have asked at the debates that, most likely, would have never been allowed. The housing market scam by the republican party elite, IS the main reason we are in the shape we are today. If you haven't seen the documentary "Inside Job" you may not know the whole truth. Truth is, it was one of the biggest Ponzi Schemes ever. Under the Bush administation, deregulation allowed these sub human thieves to fu__k america as well as investors all around the world. The money trail is clearly documented and these guys stole enough money to pay off our national debt. The results are what we see today. The Republi 'CONS' KNOW THIS. Obama has implemented some new regulation on the banks and wall street that will help. However, they don't go NEARLY far enough. My question would have been, WHY HAVEN'T ANY OF THESE PEOPLE BEEN PROSECUTED !? And, what are we going to do to insure it doesn't happen again. Romney was subtle in mentioning it, of course, but he did say we are restricting employment and jobs with too much regulation. WHAT ? That indicates to me, he would reverse what Obama has put into place, though as I said didn't go nearly far enough. I believe he would deregulate the banking industry, wall street and our environmental laws in the name of letting the greedy make a repeat until they have totally raped this country for EVERYTHING that's left. What little is left.
I believe Obama is making some of the changes that will help get us back on the right track. BUT, he needs to do more to assure it will NEVER happen again. These greedy BASTARDS will never be satisfied and the power of those who took advantage of a deregulated system are the very people he is up against in this election. The are RICH, POWERFUL, GREEDY AND DAMNED AND DETERMINED TO MOVE HIM OUT OF THE WAY SO THEY CAN CONTINUE BUSINESS AS USUAL.
If "We the People" don't get out and support "Obama", you may very well see the last days of America.
Let's re elect him and then "Demand that these DOMESTIC TERRORISTS are brought to justice.
Do a search and watch the documentary. "inside job". It should be broadcast on every network from now until election day !
How does a current President earn 11 million dollars in 4 years?
I would like to see Obama*'s tax returns...
U.S. housing markets has highest pecentage of new home starts than at any time in the last four years!
Market booming for houses over $350,000 in central Illinois - where Caterpillar has posted six consecutives quarters of their highest profits on record.
DOW, NASDAQ, & S&P all up today!
Can't wait for the right-wing "Spintastic Bloggers" to start telling me how it's either ALL bogus and America is just a terrible place - or tell me how Mitt somehow is responsible for all this improvement because we're all so interested in his plans.
Sorry R&R ers but the only reason you get any interest in Romney's plan is because on "EVERY" issue nobody has any freakin idea what the heck R&R plan to do other than lower Mitt's taxes!
What a maroon!
Obama/Biden for a sane America!
Check that Dow again there Tim. Right now down 3.07 pts. Not that bad I know but it is not up. Wait until 4:30 and look. It may get back in the black.
Tim Heth
Tim - you need to tell that to those of us who are about to loose or lost their Houses and can't find a job or two to make ends meet.
There ya go. It's back up 5+ now. and I don't know about you but I don't know many people that are going to be able to buy a $350K home. Central Illinois huh. Perhaps they are building for all the Obama administration so that they can all live and still hang out together in the same area come January. Why the hell would Obama want to move back to Chicago? Central Illinois is still too close but hey, not my decision.
Barack's already proposed to congress legislation to get mortgages lowered to current home valuation levels so that home owners that were responsible and didn't walk away from their homes can keep them. Your GOP reps walked away from it. It would have helped the middle class.
I'd really like to know how many of you all that are so opposed to the president and so polluted by the right wing radio nuts and press intend to still vote for your republican congressional reps that obstructed everything that could have benefited you over the last four years. I haven't heard a single b*tch from any of you about that. Someone please prove me wrong on that hypocracy.
& 'Talk to the Hand' the DOW is up +5.22 points if you must. It's updated on the site every 15 min. and it's been green for the last hour.
Don't be dictated by any fact though.
I'm proud of Obama and how he's handled this mess. He took the reigns before Jan 2009, he's made tough and unpopular choices but they've been the right ones and he's given specifics about what he'll do to keep America growing faster than any other country has been able to recover and he's got millions of Americans supporting his work & candidacy versus a couple hundred millionaires supporting the other guy.
Mitt's just not plausible unless your making over 3 mil a year and solely vote from your wallet.
Tim good post I am strongly in favor of Obama so some of you Romney supporters convince me he is the one to vote for.
If Romney can't convince you, I highly doubt anyone on this vine could. LOL
Women who were watching the second presidential debate would have seen the face of an irritated scowling Obama. He was scary looking and frightened the bravest of the ladies. His trust was lost and a returning smile would not be enough to get him a kiss on the cheek.
You want to see a scary picture, look at this one of Myth - LOSING:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/politics/
TOO funny - he looks like the Grinch who stole Christmas!
O & Joe!
chow: You're mistaken, that was Romney with the scowl. He was irritated because he forgot a couple lines. Romney was having a tough time, stress induced. He wasn't expecting to be kowtowed by Prez Obama. Romney should be pitied for having to listen to so many different factions. It appears he's sorry he started on this journey, but his Mormon leaders convinced him it was his Mission for his church. Now he's stuck. Stop giving him a hard time - he doesn't want the presidency, he wants the safety of his home and wife. I mean it. Leave him alone.
A sixth key issue: I still want to know exactly what Obama promised to do for Medvedev after the election when he had more "flexibility."
chow-ching - did you notice when Obama told Romney that Romney had a bigger one than his?
Obama was looking kind of strange a t Romney,, if you get what I mean.
Look my 401k retirement has off shore accounts in it, so why is it that Obama could not answer that question either?
I don't know if it was me, but I told my husband that Obama did not look Presidential at all.
We finally saw the real Mitt Romney last night. Gone was the billion dollar smile and the mocking eyes. Mr. Romney looked like he could chew glass when the President dressed him down for things like the coal issue ("Remember, Gov. Romney, when you were photographed in front of a coal mine saying you were going to "kill it?") and especially when the moderator had to step in and fact-check Mr. Romney. And NO, Candy did not back-track on her statement -- another false rumor circulated by FOX news (like the microchip implant rumor they spun - LOL).
What about...
Where's "Waldo"....
or where in the world is carmen san diego
Caesar,
You would have to "focus group" women, Hispanics, and the ENTIRE POPULATION OF San Diego, before either candidate would be willing to tackle that thorny topic. You might have to add immigration, legal and otherwise, too...
Condi Rice is a class act.
Yep .. in the lower class. LOL
How about climate change? Hasn't been discussed at all in 2 debates -- and doesn't even make your list of neglected issues. We've had a year of devastating droughts and record temperatures. Who's paying attention?
I have watched most of all 3 debates so far and it seems to me that both Romney and Ryan have made subtle references to their opposition to same-sex marriages by making references to traditional family units. For example last night Mitt said he thought homes should have a father and a mother heading them up. Oddly the comment was made in the context of gun control but still I thought it was telling. I seem to recall something similar by Ryan last week. I think it is because the Republicans know that most moderates and independents feel differently about same sex marriage than does their base. So the subtlties seemed to me like a dog whistle to the base.
Mitko: Watch the debate again. It's not possible to have a real debate with a person who cannot tell simple truth. Prez Obama was not going to turn this debate into a you said, he said match and he kept it within certain boundaries that he set. I don't know if Romney figured that out, but I'm hoping most Americans of voting age did. The Prez has certain plans, I'm sure, but we don't want him giving away the full game plan. Look past the rhetoric of the right wing and you'll see a lot of what Prez Obama has done and plans to do. If I can understand, you all smart people should be able to figure it out.
"I have Binders full of Women"
What a moron !!
GB - You apparently have no clue what a "binder" is or how it is used by top-level executives as a management tool. Ask a Business Administration major or a CEO. You might learn something.
Kannin.....so true.............
That entire "what I did for women in my administration" now turns out to be one big fat lie. For a minute there, a split second I almost believed it. Good thing I checked and what a lot of checking. He did nothing, by 2006, there were even less women in the MA state government than when he started. Sounds like the former Mormon was right when he told us, "It's okay to lie if it's done for the Lord." No wonder even Rove had to walk away. Check it out: http://blog.thephoenix.com/BLOGS/talkingpolitics/archive/2012/10/16/mind-the-binder.aspx
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-17/binders-full-of-women-show-romney-knows-how-to-hire.html
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57534471/fact-checking-romneys-binders-full-of-women-claim/
Between 2004 and 2006, the study says women made up just
25 percent of Romney's 64 new appointments, lower than when he was elected.
There's not one issue he's been truthful on, not a one.
I did not think that last night's debate had a lot of substance. I agree with Michael O'Brien two many important issues were left out of the debates. I want this race to be about issues and and the candidates vision for restoring prosperity to the United States
I want this election to be about Obstructionist Republicans who sign bulls-hit pledges with a little sawed off Napolean prick named Grover Norquist who is a nobody and who dictates the tax policy of this country thru intimidation and a senile Senate minority jack-off named Mitch McConnell who said from day one that his only goal in life was to make Barrack Obama a one term President and stop absolutely anything he tried to accomplish on behalf of the American citizens of this country.
Why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel GB? What a rant. I will pose the same question to you as I have some of your like liberal/progressive counterparts. What legislation that wasn't going to cost us money we don't have did the GOP block? Please provide the HB number. Thanks in advance. Have a good night.
Give me a F-ing Break.... (8) years of George W. Bush who drove this country off a fiscal cliff to the point of near depression levels and you really have the balls to come back with this petty nothing argument ??
How much have Bushes Bulls-hit tax cuts for the Rich that they needed like a hole in their heads that created no jobs or stimulous to our economy for the last (10) years added to our deficit moron?... or don't we talk about things like that?
GB
OK just what Bush policies got us into the Great Recession and SLOW Recovery?
Well if you remember right, That tax cut was across the board. Everyone. That is part of what created the 47% that pay no taxes. Point 2, Obama had the chance to let them expire but signed up for more. Tell me one thing that Obama has not kept of the Bush years.
I expect I will get the same answer I did in #16.2 above. "Nuttin'".
I'm not sure same-sex marriage is worthy of presidential debate material. I'd substitute that with:
1) How do you plan to work with Congress to implement your plans for the nation?
Given the stalemate there and the fact that it won't change much come January that's probably the biggest issue of all. All the grand plans/schemes in the world won't do any good if you can't get them passed. Leading is about getting others to follow you. How Obama would plan to do this better in his second term and how Romney would deal with it in his first term are vitally important.
We've seen Prez Obama in action. You can bet there are a few pointers in his plans. He really does have Americans as his first priority. This President has real faith within.
Vote the obstuctionists out of office this election. That's the best way.
Then Obama should be the first one to go, because he is the one that said
Republicans get go to the back of the bus, one of his first statements as POTUS.
Maybe no one has told the President these issues are going to be a problem.
I'm astonished that Obama refused to answer several questions and began talking instead about other things, had nothing different to add from 2008, just asking to let him try again, and there are people + media who are still saying he prevailed over Romney? What's happened to the America I grew up in? Will people actually vote out of spite? Folks, we're no longer isolated by two large oceans. Todays dynamics are such that mistakes on our part won't be ok because we're out of reach of those that want to destroy us. Is there truly an American out there who will vote because he/she will gain something, even though it will hurt America in the long term? I am truly in fear for my children.
Kona: (Love that Hawaiian coffee.) We are in fear for your children also, and all the other children here and around the world. That's why we chose to be certain President Obama is re-elected, to protect ALL of us. He doesn't shoot first and ask questions later, for one thing. And he will do all possible to maintain or increase our military if they deem it necessary. Prez Obama believes in peace, but he's not a pushover. A vote for Romney is a vote for war. His over $100Million contributor, Adelson, wants to go to war with Iran, using Israel as his excuse to get into the Middle East. Money, my dear, power. And only WE will suffer the consequencs of their haste.
However, if this election is going to be about the economy - if that’s really the number one issue for voters - Romney demolished his competition.
The CNN numbers break down as follows:
Asked who won on the economy, it was Romney: 58-40%
Who won on Taxes? Romney: 51-44%
Who is a stronger leader? Romney: 49-46%
Who won on Health Care? Romney: 49-46%
Who’ll fix the deficit? Romney, by an impressive 49-36%
All excellent topics that should be further discussed. I would also like to see yes or no answers on Would you support a federal ban on assault weapons. I would have liked to see some discussion of climate change (how they could have discussed energy policies with never touching on climate issues a mystery). I would like a straightforward answer as to why Mitt Romney will not release prior tax returns. I would like both candidates to actually answer questions without always referring back to their canned answers.
mainlinegirl---I would like for someone to ask Romney whether he has ever taken advantage of the IRS amnesty program. And also to explain why his VP nominees had to disclose so many years' tax returns to him but he doesn't think he should disclose the same number to us.
This may help (although I doubt it). Romney has disclosed what he had to disclose. "WE" as a nation, don't ask for any more or any less. Those whom he was screening for the VP slot had to do so to fulfill the "application" process which he is in control of. Why is a mystery to me but he did and it was his prerogative.
Obama is not releasing anything either. When Mitt ask him about his and his offshore accounts, he changed the subject. He didn't answer the questions the people ask him either. He just went on rambling about something else and telling more lies. He hasn't given a plan either and he dosn't have the business sense to do anything about the economy or he would have already done something. Gas would not be sky high and groceries would not be unaffordable. Talk about hurting the middle class. He is head of the class on that one! AND he will raise taxes on the middle class, if you don't think so you are crazy. He will have it where we are defenseless, broke and starving if we are not blown off the map.
Finally someone brought up the crazy off the wall question about "Assault Weapons." What a waste of time that question was. I think Romney summed it up fairly quickly, and said about all that needs to be said "fully automatic weapons are already banned." There you go, end of story. An "assault weapon" such as the mentioned AK-47, is no more or less dangerous than a handgun or hunting rifle shooting roughly the same calibre of ammunition. I don't even own a gun, but at least I understand the distiction. An AK-47, or any "assault weapon," which seems to just be gun uneducated speak for "scary looking gun I saw in a movie once" without the ability to fire in full automatic would be like a Ferrari with a Prius engine in it. Sure it may still look like it can go 200mph, but it can't. Even President Obama admitted in his answer that "assualt weapons" are not being used to commit crimes and murders in areas like Chicago. Why would they be? You pull the trigger on an AK-47 bought in the US, it shoots one bullet, you pull the trigger on a hand gun bought in the US, it shoots one bullet. Not to be morbid, but if you are a criminal, why carry around a huge, heavy, expensive, long, hard to hide, attention drawing, unwieldy AK-47, when you can carry a compact, light, inexpensive, easy to hide, inconspicuous, easy to handle handgun that functionally will do more or less the same thing?
I will ask you the same question I posed to GB above. What legislation that wasn't going to cost us money we don't have did the GOP block? Please provide the HB number.
Talk to the Hand-
So all of the presidential appointments that were held up via filibuster would have cost us money? How about Immigration reform? Or Simpson-Bowles? (which never even made it to legislation.)
Why didnt "fiscally conservative" Republicans (including Paul Ryan) block any of GW Bush's unfunded proposals that balooned the deficit? Tax Cuts, two unfunded wars, Medicare prescription plan, TARP, stimulus - Republicans were all YES-YES-YES then. Remember VP Dick Cheney saying "deficits don't matter"?
Republicans got together and planned how to obstruct President Obama before he even got a chance to offer legislation. They broke their word on every attemt at bipartisan compromise.
Dont give me your sanctimonious bullcrap.
Paul Ryan - The Deficit? I Built That!
What appointments would those be that the country starves for right now and will barely get by without? And what immigration reform? Obama all but admitted himself last night that he hasn't provided any as he promised to do in his first year. You remember the "recovery summer of 2009" don't you?
And you dems are the ones that tout "the stimulus worked". That was all pre 2011 when the GOP spanked the House with new members. We supposedly were already in recovery mode and had Obama been a leader, he should have been able to work with both branches in 2009 and 2010.
TNSEVOL
Why didn't the Democrats stop funding those wars in FY2008,FY2009,FY2010 and FY2011? They had a majority in the House and Senate in each of the those years.

Why is anyone voting Republican at all?
The GOP made sure Hope and Change never got a chance.
The Republican Party has NOT done anything for America in the last 40 years.
Look it up.
@Slodon, Democarts cannot put a stop or break ongoing defense contracts drafted by the GOP, once committed they have to live their projections.
Nice list. A little long but I think I can help you with that. Just filter out the ones that had funding required to implement.
Clues. Your first block doesn't count. No jobs.
Your second group (those after the "AND") and the last, go ahead. See how easy that was? I just saved you a lot of typing (although I know you have been copying and pasting it all day) and wasted band width to do so.
Wow you're a freaking Genius, a simple discard for a simple mind.
Only a RepubliCON believes Obama is the first President in history to NOT be allowed to spend because the party of "We're broke" says so.
Topics neither will touch:
Climate change?
Listen up! All of you independents and undecided voters!
I think a little refresher course in history maybe needed in helping all of you make a wise decision on whom to vote for!
The lunacy in the GOP started with the Reagan Era, and the GOP would like nothing more, than for all of us to forget their three previous administrations, because all three were filled with nothing but failed policies. And, they know that if the majority of our citizens knew how bad and harmful their policies have been to our country and economy that their chances of ever winning another election would be next too impossible.
Does this sound familiar? "Government is the problem, and Government is Bad.”
From early in Reagan’s presidency’s he started the corrosive distrust of the people’s government and made it a permanent fixture of American politics.
Did you know that Reagan could be considered the Father of the GOP’s fiscal irresponsibility?
Did you know that Reagan was forced to raise taxes at least twice, to avert a financial catastrophe?
Did you know that Reagan caused the national debt to skyrocket during his two terms?
Did you know that Reagan tripled the national debt by the end of his two terms?
Did you know that Reagan’s fiscal irresponsibility equal the entire debt burden produced by the previous 200 years of American history?
In other words, Reagan produced red ink as far as the eye could see!
And, even with the election of George H. Bush, it didn’t stem the flow of red ink.
George H. Bush created a little more than 4 trillion in debt during his presidency.
George H. Bush had to break his famously “read my lips, no new taxes” quote to address the cascading budget shortfalls, and his very own party turned on him, and which probably cost him reelection.
Only with the election of Bill Clinton did the hemorrhaging stop. At the end of Clinton’s presidency no amount of national debt could be attributed to Clinton. Through his policies of higher taxes and reduced spending helped bring about the strongest economy since WWII, and when he left office the CBO had forecasted that if his policies were continued that 5.6 trillion dollar surplus would accrue over the next 10 years.
Then we elected another fiscally irresponsible Republican, and almost from the beginning of George W. Bush presidency he began squandering away the forecasted 5. 6 trillion dollar surplus, because of his 1.4 trillion dollar tax cuts in 2001. George W. Bush.’s second round of tax cuts in 2003 accounted for the doubling of the national debt.
Then you add in 2 unfunded wars, 1 unfunded Prescription Drug Mandate, and his American Dream Downpayment Act, and all of this adds up to is, he took a forecasted 5.6 trillion dollar surplus and turned it into and 11.9 trillion dollar debt! And, it’s all easily verifiable by going to Treasurydirect.gov. And doing the math!
Now, when you read the last portion of this posting keep in mind the first part, because you’ll most definitely see a pattern!
1)Their self-fulfilling prophecy of bad government under Republican leadership, as the Bush recessions of 1991 and 2007, the Hurricane Katrina response, the Iraq catastrophe and the transfer of federal oversight powers to the industries being regulated all showed.
2) And, when the backlash from the American people inevitably comes as it did in 1992 and 2008, attack the very legitimacy of the new Democratic president they elected.
3) Then they turn to the filibuster and other obstructionists’ tactics to block the Democratic agenda, inaction for which the incumbent majority will be blamed.
4) They target the institutions and programs (Social Security, Medicare, the IRS) which form the underpinnings of progressive government.
5) They are smart enough to know that their plan cannot be fully implemented in just a few of their presidencies, and it will take a longer period of time.
6) And, all they do to get ready for the next cycle is, simply lather, rinse and repeat the procedure.
7) This has been the GOP’s Recipe for Successfully Changing America Into the Country of Haves and Have Nots!
Now, remember #3 and 4 above!
From the onset of President Obama’s presidency the GOP has made it very clear that they had no intentions of working with him, even though they had no idea of his plans at the time.
Mitch McConnell said, that their only goal was to make sure that Mr. Obama was a one term President.
The GOP has been on a witch hunt ever since President Obama took office.
Through the GOP’s underhanded tactics have caused this country to have to endure 4 extra years of depression/recession.
The GOP has jeopardized our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s futures by their underhanded tactics.
Then they try and lay blame on President Obama for their contrived fiscal irresponsibilities.
We elected Mr. Obama to try and right the wrongs of the fiscally irresponsible borrow and spend republicans, and as you can see all they’ve done throughout his presidency is to try and keep the country in a depression/recession and by doing so has kept the public in a despondent mood just hoping you all are stupid enough to vote in another one of their fiscal irresponsible candidates!
Now, if you want to be a party to their lunacy, then vote for Romney/Ryan to further the destruction of your country!
Or,
If you want to stop this lunacy, then vote for Obama/Biden to resurrect the Middle Class and save your country!
BTW, Copy this posting, and pass it on, because the truth will set us all Free from the GOP’s Lunacy!
Yeah, copypasta spam will change opinions to match yours. That always works.
I don't expect to change some closed minded Rand disciples mind!
So will lots of name calling and contempt for the 'libtards.' I know it has in my case.
I mean... it's like the abused housewife syndrome. The more contemptuous and jerkass-ish the people I talk to are toward me, the more they sway me to their point of view.
BTW, You can call it whatever your small mind wants to, but you can't prove it wrong, because I've done my homework rather well!
StonecoldTruth, you sound alot like a friend of mine; very liberal and HATES Rand. The trouble with all govenrment is that it is too big and too expensive. The only thing government is responsible for is protecting its citizens from foreign invasion. Everything else is fluff. Govt should not be involved with my education, health, financial security, energy, housing, abortions, contraceptions, or anything else. Just leave me alone and I can take care of myself.
Stone Cold: That's a great piece and thanks for taking the time. I could go one step further and add that much of what the repubs have done over the past decades since just before Reagan parallel hitler's mode operandi. President Eisenhower, in his parting speech, warned us of a growing disease in our midst whose main agenda is to make the U.S. the military might of the world, for full power and control. The web that has been spun in our country, from agri business to schools, is daunting, and they're not finished. Next comes the complete destruction of the middle class, taking Unions with them. Bingo. Done. No one will be safe.
OBAMA-BIDEN 2012 and a Strong Democratic Congress
Solid Post StoneColdTruth - much thanks for unpacking GOP masterplan. I hope that the public's well documented low opinion of Congress is targeted more at the GOP & Tea Party freshmen congressmen who have "obstructed & delayed" every piece of Pres. Obama legislation.
The GOP & Tea Party freshmen did not cast one vote for passage on Pres. Obama's Stimulus Package that many nonpartisan economists have confirmed saved several million jobs. These "no vote" GOP/Tea Party Reps. wrote letters to White House requesting Stimulus money for their State, they jumped at photo-ops at blue ribbon cutting of construction projects, they took credit for Pres. Obama's tax cuts / tax credits for individuals & small businesses. They still discredit the Stimulus and lie that they never requested funds like Paul Ryan.
The GOP & Tea Party freshmen congressmen are 100 % responsible for the dragged out struggle to pass routine raising of debt ceiling, which their lack of timely vote & cooperation led directly to the very first historic US Credit Downgrade.
These GOP & Tea Party Freshmen voted down Pres. Obama's American Job Bill in order to preserve their wealthy elite donors tax credits/subsidies/loopholes. They did all that while their fellow Americans were left without the 1 - 3 Million jobs this legislation would have created.
But these GOP & Tea Party freshmen congressmen had time to vote 33 times to repeal Pres. Obama's Affordable Healthcare Act, they had time to generate 60 pieces of Anti=abortion & defund Planned Parenthood legislation. What happened to all those 2010 wave election GOP & Tea Party freshmen congressmen who promised JOBS, JOBS, JOBS & more new JOBS. Not one piece of GOP / Tea Party JOBS legislation was passed.
The GOP & Tea Party freshmen congressmen should be booted out of Congress, they should refund their salary and insurance/ benefits that US taxpayers provided!!!!!!!!!
No truth, just another biased opinion.
Stonecold Truth: I'm middle class and I have to admit that I am on life support after the past 4 years. At least for the 4 years preceding that I had a false sense of hope. If Obama/Biden plan to resurrect the middle class--when do they plan to do it? And are we allowed to be told of this plan, or is it a secret?
My friend, you are just as bad as the Kool Aid drinkers on the right. No one cares about you and I but us. The right cares about the 1%, the left cares about the 47%, leaving 52% of us in the middle with no one to give a rats patootie about us.
You want real change???? EVERY election, whether local, state or national, vote the incumbents out EVERYTIME! That is the only way real change will happen--when our elected officials understand they are not the New American Royalty who are entitled to whatever their greed demands. Remember that they need us to fulfill their dreams of grandeur and boost their inflated egos.
The truth is spending is still out of control. for some reason democrats think spending more is the answer, the feds think printing more worthless money is the answer. Our dollar is devaluating and that drives oil up quickly and then we pay thru the nose for our gas and groceries. So saying the prez has no control over gas prices well that is BS...maybe not directly of course but indirectly for sure. The feds keep monetizing our debt...that is the real problem. The cliff is real people, fiscal responsibilty is needed badly and both sides of the aisle need a lesson in frugality, like we have to live in the working world.
Obama has yet to get a handle on the economy, nothing but talk about job creation...what about job loss? Only 20 something % are union but his bailouts are directed at the unions..GM teachers etc...GM will never repay all the debt and who lost on the GM bailout...all of the stockholders and debtors...no one cares about them,...guess they were all 1%ers....lot of folks had GM stock that were working people that needed not to lose that money...me for one.
