Sharp exchanges between Obama, Romney at second debate

UPDATED 12:00 a.m. ET - President Barack Obama took the stage at Tuesday’s presidential debate determined to play offense against Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, taking every opportunity to put his GOP challenger on the defensive, defend his four years in office, and make the case for one more term in the White House.

Charles Dharapak / AP

President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney participate in the second presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.

It was clear from the debate’s outset that it wouldn’t resemble the first encounter between the two men, a meeting where Romney was widely-acknowledged to have come out on top. After that first debate, Democrats worried that the president was not aggressive enough in responding to Romney’s attacks.

But on Tuesday night, Obama eagerly went at Romney, and while the Republican presidential hopeful hardly shrunk from fighting back, he wasn't able to achieve the same unfettered advantage over the president (and the moderator) that he had in Denver.

President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney spar on the issues in the second presidential debate.

Obama and Romney battled each other early, often, and on a broad array of topics. The president sought to hold his rival to the conservative vows he had taken as a candidate for the Republican nomination, and Romney accused the president of failing to live up to the promises – on issues like employment and immigration – that he had made in 2008.

RELATED: Heated energy exchange only part of larger policy split

The product was a debate with palpable tension and many theatrics. The candidates even physically approached each other during one exchange, which prompted Romney to scold: “You'll get your chance in a moment, I'm still speaking.”

Obama didn’t shy from deploying some of his campaign’s more effective attacks on Romney, related to the Republican nominee’s private sector career and immense personal wealth.

"No, I haven't looked at my pension,” he said in one exchange with Romney, “It's not as big as yours, so it doesn't take that long."

And the president saved one of his most potent attacks - based on Romney’s surreptitiously-recorded comments dismissing the votes of “47 percent” of Americans, whom the Republican candidate said were “dependent” on government - for the end of the quarrelsome meeting.

VOTE: Did the second presidential debate do anything to influence who you will support in the election?

"I believe Gov. Romney is a good man ... But I also believe that when he said behind closed doors that 47 percent of the country considered themselves victims who refuse personal responsibility, think about who he was talking about,” Obama said.

“I want to fight for them. That's what I've been doing for the last four years. Because if they succeed, I believe the country succeeds.”

The debate’s town hall-format featured the two candidates answering questions from undecided voters selected by the Gallup polling organization to participate in the event at Hofstra University.

But both Obama and Romney frequently veered away from the questions themselves, turning them into opportunities to engage one another. Both men took turns standing and pacing across the stage, and they both often tried to speak past moderator Candy Crowley, despite her objections.

The president pledges he will get to the bottom of the events that led to the death of a U.S. ambassador in Libya and calls Romney's criticisms of his actions following the attack "offensive."

One of the most pointed exchanges involved a topic left untouched in the first Obama-Romney meeting: Libya, and the administration’s shifting explanation for an attack last month on a diplomatic post in Benghazi, which resulted in the death of four Americans, including a U.S. ambassador.

"It was a terrorist attack and it took a long time for that to be told to the American people. Whether there was some misleading, or instead whether we just didn't know what happened, you have to ask yourself why didn't we know five days later when the ambassador to the United Nations went on TV to say that this was a demonstration. How could we have not known?" Romney asked.

At this, Obama seemed to flash anger, turning to stare down Romney across the stage.

"While we were still dealing with our diplomats being threatened, Gov. Romney put out a press release, trying to make political points," Obama said. "And that's not how a commander in chief operates."

He added: “The suggestion that anybody in my team, whether the secretary of state, our U.N. ambassador, anybody on my team would play politics or mislead when we've lost four of our own, governor, is offensive.”

The exchange on Libya took a different turn, too, as Crowley disputed Romney’s assertion that Obama had failed to label the attack in Libya as an act of terror.

Crowley’s insistence that Obama had done so drew applause from the audience – in violation of debate rules.

GOP nominee Mitt Romney makes sure he gets to make his point even as debate moderator tries to move on.

For his part, Romney renewed his effort to dress his policies with a more centrist tone, emphasizing, for instance, his vow to reform immigration during his first year as president or his promise to not reduce the tax burden on the wealthiest of Americans.

“Why am I lowering taxes on the middle-class? Because under the last four years, they've been buried,” Romney said, alluding to a comment made recently by Vice President Joe Biden saying the middle class had been “buried” over the last four years.

Romney also relished the opportunity to distinguish himself from President George W. Bush, the still-unpopular former Republican president to whom the Obama campaign often links Romney.

RELATED: Truth Squad tackles the second presidential debate

"I'll crack down on China, President Bush didn't," Romney said in recitation of the instances in which he breaks from the last Republican president. "I'm going to get us to a balanced budget. President Bush didn't."

Romney also had a crisp response prepared to Obama’s argument that Romney would have allowed the American auto industry to fail amid its 2008-2009 crisis.

The Obama campaign has used Romney’s 2008 op-ed for The New York Times – “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” – to pummel the Republican throughout the industrial Midwest, where much of the election has played out.

NBC News analysis: Mitt Romney takes a limited view on oil and gas production on federal lands while Barack Obama is mistaken about Romney's stance on Detroit auto makers. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports.

"The president took Detroit bankrupt. You took General Motors bankrupt. You took Chrysler bankrupt. So when you say that I wanted to take the auto industry bankrupt, you actually did," Romney charged. "And I think it's important to know that that was a process that was necessary to get those companies back on their feet, so they could start hiring more people. That was precisely what I recommended and ultimately what happened."

But Obama had also done his homework before this debate, and he was quick to remind voters of what Romney had promised during his march to the Republican nomination – from his vow to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood to his opposition to an immigration reform package, the DREAM Act, to taxes.

The president insinuated Romney’s tax proposals were a “sketchy deal” for the American people, and frequently referred to Romney’s immense personal wealth to make the broader case about Romney and “top-down economics.”

President Barack Obama attacks former Gov. Mitt Romney's tax-cut proposals in the second presidential debate of 2012.

"When Gov. Romney stands here, after a year of campaigning, when during a Republican primary he stood on stage and said 'I'm going to give tax cuts' - he didn't say tax rate cuts, he said 'tax cuts to everybody,' including the top 1 percent, you should believe him because that's been his history," Obama said.

Whether Obama’s more lively debate performance would be enough to stanch the Democratic hand-wringing and Romney surge associated with the first debate was less abundantly clear.

PhotoBlog: Watching Americans watching the debate

Tuesday’s debate took place just three weeks before the election, and Romney has shown signs of growing competitiveness versus Obama in polls of swing states and national polls.

The candidates will go at it again on Monday in their final of three scheduled debates this fall, a foreign policy-focused debate held in Florida.

From tramping through cornfields to munching ice cream cones to holding babies – the time-honored traditions of the campaign trail leave President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney looking surprisingly alike.

Obama is NOT going to allow the GOP, nor Romney and Ryan to blame the debt and the slow economy on him...

The President does NOT pass jobs legislation. He just signs them.

Growth only happens if the “GOP owned congress” puts bills on the table to sign.

The uncompromising GOP has blocked, stopped, voted NO, obstructed, filibustered over 500 times and made pledges to NOT create jobs or bring cash to the government just to blame ONE man.

The GOP lies and do not tell the people that their policies are at fault.

ALL GOP Policies are at fault because everything is directly involved with them.

Mr. Romney, let's do some ARITHMETIC...

#1 - Name the "Obama" POLICIES and the AMOUNTS that you say added trillions to the debt and “ADD” those amounts.

#2 –“DEDUCT” that Obama total from the current $16 TRILLION.

The balance = “GOP” spending.

DO Remember the following…

Expenses to “FIX” the GOP failed policies like TARP and the stimulus are still GOP spending and NOT Obama's fault so DO NOT count those policies.

All expenses from the previous GOP administration's “UNFUNDED” policies that Obama ADDED to his budget are ALSO Republican spending.

The INTEREST on the GOP TRILLIONS of debt is NOT for Obama to be responsible for either, it is GOP spending too.

The GOP “OWNS” that interest.

Also,

The “Bailouts” ARE “loans” to REPAIR more GOP screwed up policies, the GOP wanted those to be FREE of charge, a "going away gift" to the Banks and Wall Street from Bush. Obama made them loans.

Do not add policies before Reagan because there was NO DEBT PROBLEM before that, Reagan took office when the DEBT had ONE TRILLION and could have been tackled and fixed with comprehensive tax reform but Reagan did the opposite..

“Entitlements” are a tiny fraction of the debt and they always bring their own revenues through payroll deductions as premium payments. Entitlements are NOT free, it's paid-into insurance.

Be sure of this…

The Republicans will try blaming a Democratic majority that never actually had “control”.

Saying that the Democrats had a "Majority" doesn't count as “control”, because we all know the GOP had the "CONTROL" with their record filibusters and obstructions.

Remind the Republicans that "Total Control" is having a "Filibuster proof majority". The Democrats only had it for 6 months. After Teddy died, the Republicans went on a filibuster frenzy and BLOCKED everything.

All those failed GOP policies were drafted by Republicans AND all passed with GOP majority of votes going back to Reagan.

The Republicans will NEVER have policies or numbers to blame on the Democrats because they DO NOT exist.

Look them up, I tried. DO NOT call them “spending” if you cannot name the policies.

Every single policy at fault is GOP owned, drafted and vigorously voted by Republicans.

DO NOT get fooled into thinking it is Obama's fault. NOW is the time to stop that Myth.

Watch out for the following…

The Republicans and the Fox-Rush-bots are going to try to change the subject on this comment with insults, diversions and ridicules.

The Republicans will ask for budgets, but no one can pass budgets without Revenues. The GOP PLEDGED to NEVER raise revenues.

The Republicans will mention “bills” that are on Reid’s desk. I saw all those bills. NONE are for jobs or to fix the economy. ALL are for reducing regulations for the rich, cutting public services, more tax cuts for corporations etc.

The Republicans will blame gas prices on Obama but will fail to explain why a President seeking re-election would do that or how he could actually do that.

This is a WIN WIN on talks about the economy. Use it. Challenge every Republican. It will drive them mad with ZERO response.

This is NOT blaming the GOP or BUSH, this is ARITHMETIC !!!!

OBAMA didn't PERSONALLY do anything by himself.

And neither will Romney.

It takes a village of all the idiots in Washington to get anything or nothing done.

So it really doesn't matter who is in office.

Republicans get in, they'll screw it up, we'll vote in Democrats again and they'll screw it up and we will remain on the merry-go-round like we do each and every election term.

Things will never change as long as "humans" run the country because self-serve, self-interests, greed and human frailty will always override common sense and obligation to the people. Haven't we seen that for years and years and years--do you think anyone can change that - NOPE, NOPE and NOPE.

Republicans have had 24 years to fix this country. Its a tough job fixing something this broken. We have dwindling resources from the earth like ores and such. Problems facing us when mining or reclaiming those resources. Its a big job and I think that Obama has a lot of new ideas presented to him and that he will sort them out. Hes been dealing with it four years now and I say we let him continue....

Obama talks allot but says nothing and does nothing. When the guy ask him about the high food prices he didn't know what to say so he went on rambling about something else and did not answer the question. He didn't answer the question about the gas either. Because he can't, he knows he has ruined this country, and is trying harder to finish it. Everything he said was a LIE!

Mitts big ploy appears to be centered around somehow convincing voters that Obama should have done better on the economy. The reality is that if the 2008 Presidential election was on a different timetable and had been scheduled for a latter year Republican leadership would have continued their philosophical policy of letting market forces decide our economic fate, until the US economy had completely slid into a second Great Depression.
We are very fortunate that it was an election year in 2008, and we were able to vote for better leadership and began reviving our economy before it declined into a condition of complete economic collapse.

Romney called out President Obama, and all his failed policies, that promised change and changed nothing. Obama gave alot of beautiful speeches and dreams of a better future, but as the presiding leader of our Great Nation, did nothing for the last fours years. Clinton did alot in his first four years, thats why he was re-elected. But this administration gave us alot of amazing and uplifting speeches, but when it came to do the real work of leading...NOTHING Now he wants us to pay more taxes, and inflated prices on everything, WHY? Hi Fellow Americans: You all sound as bad as the candidates did. I have a few questions for supporters of Obama. 1) Can you tell me who Frank Marshall Davis is and how he is related to Obama? 2) Do you know about Obama's muslim background and being raised being a devote follower of Muslim doctrine. I have to admit, I was wrong- he was born in Hawaii, but to an "unknown" father, rather than claim his biological Father. (Who was on the CIA's watch list his whole adult life.) He lied from the get go folks. About even the most basic things in his life. His family. Hmmm?- Like I asked 4 years ago. When did you start supporting terrorism? Obama does- He has life time ties with many terriorist. And so does Michelle- it's documented facts!- When did you start supporting 3rd trimeister abortions? Obama does. Check his record from Illinois!- He and his supporter adamantly cry foul! They say he inherited a mess from President Bush- and so he could just never get ahead! Really well, if- God Forbid- he is elected again- I feel sorry for us all, because look at the mess he has left for the next guy- probably at least 4 times worse than the ones we had before! Who would he blame? Detailed plans for a future?!? Even after four years he can't answer a question straight. He rambles. He dances well, but never said anything. Four years ago he promised change. In four years- his changes have stuck us all up a tree, down a creek without a paddle, and in way over our heads. No matter how you want to paint a picture- facts are facts people, and we are drowning! Fuel is out of sight, food prices raise everyday, more and more people lose their homes everyday, unemployment- yep the numbers have dropped, because hundred of Americans are no longer eligible for benefits. Change- yep, he brought change, but none of it good! People open your eyes? Quit making excuses for lack of actions! Or really bad choices! - He almost made me sick when he talked about defending Americans overseas and in our own country. He has loyalty to himself- and his politics not to this country! How short is your memory when he is the same man who wouldn't wear a flag pin on his collar, and who took the flag off of Air Force One to be replaced by a modified communist symbol. He had never answered a question straight or ever outlined a plan, just always attacks his opponents ideas. Romney has outlined his programs and what he wants for our country and has defended the lies that Obama dishes out everytime. Romney answered the questions he was challenged with, Obama still just points fingers and never answers a thing. Its someone else- even Big Bird's fault according to Obama. (Funny Big Bird was even smart enough to tell him to not include Him in his champaign!)

It'a quite sad to see that there is very little civility among humans nowadays. Regardless of who your vote goes to, it is unecessary to act like children and insult each other in such a manner.

I have been reading less and less news article comments lately because all I see is Obama voters bashing Romney voters and Vice versa. Hopefully those of you that are behaving with such a juvenile and degenerate attitude(s) realize your skewed attempts at trying to be witty are devoid of anything knowledgable.

If you dislike a candidate or policy of a candidate, state your reason and provide proof. Do not use anything that is linked through Fox, Msn, CNN, or Wikipedia. Actually go through databases and find actual proof to state your reasoning for disliking a candidate(Any Individual). If you cannot state any factual criticisms or promotions for any candidate, then you are only doing yourself a disservice.

They LIED to Americans for DAYS, said it was due to a video, They denied repeated requests for more security, then tried to blame it on Republicans…

In testimony Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Charlene Lamb, a deputy assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, was asked, “Was there any budget consideration and lack of budget which led you not to increase the number of people in the security force there?”

Lamb responded, “No, sir.”

Where was Hillary and Obama when they BEGGED for more security???

SHAME SHAME SHAME! They KNEW!

Candy Crowley was the biggest loser in this debate. Moderators are not supposed to insert their two cents into the discussion, but she clearly did .

The big winner of this debate was Mitt Romney. The central issues facing voters are the economy and jobs. Mr. Romney exposed Mr. Obama's abysmal record on both and Obama's lack of a concrete plan to address either. In contrast, Mr Romney put forth his clear record of economic success, in both the private and public sector, and a concrete plan to get our economy back on track and create private sector jobs. In addition, voters will now be demanding specific answers about why our Ambassador was not properly protected in Benghazi and who it was that made that call. Questions Mr. Obama never answered and he will have to face again in the foreign policy debate less than 7 days away.

As for Mr. Obama,he had a better showing than his abysmal performance in the first debate. But his first debate performance was so bad that simply showing up and talking with a modicum of relevance was better.Which is just about all he did last night. In fact, most of what he said was a repeat of the first debate. He just said it with a little more passion. Big whoop! Over all, so far Mr. Obama has looked every bit the amateur he really is. When the dust settles and the votes are cast Romney will win.

As usual, all three Mitts showed up, I was for it, I wasn't for it, this is who I am tonight.....Mitt #1, #2, #3.

All the pols say President Obama kicked Romney to the curb. Romney has no clue who he is anymore he has said so many different positions about any issue, then denies he said what he said, when he said it!.

Romney King of outsorcing American jobs and lying!

This is just my own personal opinion, to me it seems perfectly clear that die-hard republican voters live and breathe lies. It doesn't matter what the subject is, republicans and Fox News will lie about it and no amount of proof of their lies will convince hard-core republican voters that they're lying. To them, the proof is the lie. It doesn't matter how blatant the lie, how outrageous it is to everybody else, die-hard republican voters not only believe it but will make up their own lies to back it up. Every politician is going to lie at some point, but republicans have taken lying to a whole new level.

In my own personal opinion, republicans running for office are not stupid, I think they lie so very much about everything because they know that their own die-hard voters are stupid enough to believe whatever they say. You cannot prove anything to them, because the word, truth is unknown to them. Since lies are their main focus in life, it is a total waste of time trying to convince them of anything because republicans have already filled their heads with lies. There is no room for the truth in their small brains.

Sluth...I fould your comment to be really funny.

HAHAHA Rgray.....denial is the first symptom of losing, and it looks like you republicans are back at it again after a brief reprieve!!!

Romney got his a$$ handed to him tonight!

See now that is just wishful on your part. If you watched the debate you will see at one point where Romney got in Obama's face when interrupted and basically told the President of the United States to sit down and shut up. And as Romney was a commanding presence, the President wimpered back to his seat, sat down and shut up. At that moment Obama lost the debate. If Obama can't stand toe to toe with a challenger for his job to work in the best interest of the People of the United States what the hell sort of chance does he have to face down Iran or North Korea?

What I want to hear more about is Obama sending his money to the Cayman Islands where many, many off shore banks are located. I would like to know if the President of the United States has paid taxes on all of his money, particularly the interest or dividends on foreign earned income. It could very well be that Obama asked Timmy Geithner to do his and well we know how that works.

I wonder, has Obama gotten kickback from the failed Green Energy Companies that have received hundreds of million s in taxpayer dollars. It would not surprise me if Chicago styled pay to play politics are at work and now perhaps we can leave the Swiss accounts alone and move on to shelters in the Caribbean.

Politics is simply telling people what they want to hear. Both sides did it. I saw no winner. I saw two whiners.

So, reserved to the fact we must vote for two whining babies, a giant douche or a turd sandwich, my choice is the one who has proven experience doing the things that need to be done. Grow the country like a business, it's a proven model. Balance the budget. Make necessary cuts. Make necessary investments (note the word "necessary" - not "altruistic"). There is only one candidate out there who has done these things successfully.

It would be comical if it wasn't so sad, in a time where economy needs to be our primary focus, we shun the person with a proven track record of creating wealth. Private, individual wealth? You bet, he was an individual citizen working in the private sector. He applied those lessons to his state when he took office leading to a balanced budget, health care coverage, and improved education outcomes. Did the incumbent do that in his state? No. Did the incumbent do that over the last four years of his presidency? No.

It's clear who is the most altruistic and idealistic candidate. But is that what this country needs? Hope and dreams are great, but action speaks louder than words. It is also clear who understands that business plans are obsolete as soon as you write them, progress requires flexibility, it requires evolution of thought and ideas. We need a candidate who will make the best decision at the time and be flexible enough to adapt when things change, not sticking to empty rhetoric when it doesn't make sense just to please your fan base.

Texastornado... You get that we have people in this country who, over the past four years, felt so demoralized that they could not find a job and have just stopped trying. That is a bitter pill to swallow and it happened under the Obama leadership. So to be sure our economy has been devastated by this President. Hundreds of millions have been thrown into Green Companies that have gone under....where did the money go? There is nothing to show from this massive guarantee the Federal Government. Well over a million illegal immigrants will be given a right to work status when we are not able to absorb young Americans in the jobs market.

Banning Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood spends millions of dollars to lobby Washington. They are not spending those dollars to reduce the cost of reproductive health for women. Honestly, yes women across the board need reproductive health care that they can afford and honestly, Planned Parenthood is not just handing out "free"care. They have a fee for service that fully expect to be paid by their patients based on their income. So they are willing to throw thousands of women under the proverbial bus because they wish for political gains in their lobby efforts. They turned down an incredibly generous donation because they didn't like the guy. Planned Parenthood ceased being a non-profit for the benefit of Women's health a very long time ago. They wish to stomp and scream that the Government is not giving them $$$$$ so they will make an example of women themselves. The fact is that the Government is willing to support a vast array of health care and reproductive care and education. The fact is Planned Parenthood is no longer a non-profit they are a business. They charge for their services. They accept insurance for their services and the fact is many insurance policies cover the cost of terminating a pregnancy. If this is a company that can pay their CEO and leadership teams hundreds of thousands of dollars, offer a bonus structure and spend millions to lobby they don't need Government funds to meet their mission.

As for women having unwanted babies...Pregnancy is a consequence of risky sexual behavior. If women wish to be on the same footing as men they can step up and pay the cost of that consequence. It gets so frustrating...If girls are making adult decisions then they need to step up and assume the adult responsibility. A safe abortion, beyond the morning after pill, is not an inexpensive procedure but it is peanuts when compared to the cost of raising a child. We need to stop tossing blame at the public at large for not wishing to pay this burden the responsibility, beyond rape, is on the woman. Perhaps, if organizations like Planned Parenthood didn't act like a victim of society the women who need planned parenthood would feel like such victims.

As for:

.i'll grant no amnesty to the latinos.i will make it hard for those who are not legal to go to school, work or live in this country.

He didn't single out latinos he included all illegal immigrants. Honestly, do you think the illegal immigration issue is just a problem with Latino's? Taht would be wrong. As for not making life easy for those who come to America without checking in at a border...Romney is 100% correct. By ignoring our populations of illegal immigrants we are encouraging a second society is America. We are encouraging suppressed wages and lack of opportunity for Americans. By offering amnasty to students who should be applying to Universities under a student visa program we are encouraging a broken sustem. Immigration policy can be fixed but the biggest broken aspect of that system are those who come to this country illegally.

how can you guys complain about obama being muslim&united church of christ. and endorse people like romney who doesnt pledge allegience to the american flag

I suppose that it is possible that I missed a reference to the President being Muslim so who actually threw that out in this discussion? Why wouldn't Romney pledge allegiance to the flag in a nation that is bestowed by God. He is confident in his faith, confident in his administrative skills and committed to serve the greater good of the American people. Is it that you are you seriously prejudiced against his Mormon faith or do you just not like successful white men. Based on reading may remarks on newsvine I am convinced that there are a great many people who will not vote for Ronmey becaused they are prejudiced against either his faith, because he lead a very successful private life and then a very successful public life or because he is white. This double standard for racism and prejudice really needs to see the light of day.

Personally, I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. I believe that we are all Gods children. So what is your viewpoint on Jesus Christ?

how can you expect obama in just four years to clean up the mess little george left this country in after eight years of a broke down economy 7.2 unemployment rate.2 wars.

Well......BECAUSE HE SAID HE COULD.. that's why. HE IS THE GUY who campaigned against that corpse, John ("my friends') McCain, and talked about a 'One-term proposition"

.. HE IS THE GUY who said.. Vote for me.. I have a lot more of the answers than the other guy.

.. HE IS THE GUY who said.. A TEN TRILLION dollar debt is Unpatriotic - and then proceeded to run it up by another SIX TRILLION dollars. (How could any of us have known at the time that when he said that .. what he meant was the debt was too LOW??) And still has yet to pass ONE BUDGET.

Are you Seriously asking this question?? Dude, this guy has ZERO leadership skills.. Zero knowledge of Economics.. ZERO knowledge about foreign policy.. Zero knowledge about the Muslim culture.. (and if he does have the knowledge of the Muslim culture that many in this country believe him to have he should be tried for treason) All he knows is how to use the awesome and fearful power of the imperial federal government to Steal money from people who earn it.. to give it to people who don't.

I heard him say - with his own mouth.. That even though lowering the taxes on capital gains taxes has Proven to bring MORE money into the treasury - that was not his concern.. His concern was fairness. WHAT????

This completely inexperienced idealogue is about to sign some treaties which will sacrifice our own national soveriegnty - and no one is talking about it.. You need to do some research - your country is in DEEP ****.

He screamed about Guantanamo, ad nauseum, during his first campaign, and then went on to continue virtually every policy regarding that mess - And his supporters have the nerve to call his opponents 'liar'.

What is in the water that you are drinking? If you can bottle it and sell it to high school students, most of whom are a lost cause anyway... thanks to the wholesale control teachers unions have over the indoctrin....... er..... what passes for the education process in this country, you'd make a fortune - but can't have that now.. not in a free-market economy - you'd be one of those evil rich people.

Your country and your culture is circling the drain, dude... and you can stand there and offer whole hearted support for the guy who PERPETUATES IT?? Your country is on Life support.. and somehow.. the answer to EVERYTHING lies somewhere within the pages of Romney's tax return??

What part of "Four Years of continuouly disasterous and failed policies are you not getting.. Seriously....SIXTEEN TRILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT??? SIXTEEN TRILLION?? ???

HE SAID HE COULD.. Get it done.....and he either can't.....or has proven beyond a shadow of any doubt that he doesn't care to - for whatever reason. You're damn straight I expect this guy to do what he said he could do. That's why I Voted for him and he's blown it, big time.

    Good God, folks... Wake up.

Yeah, I'll say he accomplished a lot.... pretty much all of it unconstitutional. This guy had a two year blank check and still managed to run what was left of this once great nation into the ground. How can you Possibly sit there at that keyboard and defend, in ANY way, a Sixteen Trillion Dollar national debt?? Sixteen TRILLION??

The question was asked: basically : how can you expect this guy to clean up the mess in just four years?? My answer is still the same: Because he said he could. (But he can't)

If he's re-elected, just think of the mess he'll inherit THIS TIME.

Yeah.. I know.. George Bush this.. and the Congress that.....and Rush Limbaugh.. blah blah blah .. Hitler was pretty evil too, but had NOTHING To do with a Trillion Dollar a year deficit, no passed budgets for the past four years - culminating in a Sixteen Trillion Dollar debt. I'm sure your great grandchildren will be VERY grateful for your response today.

I am NOT a repbulican, by the way. Just because someone doesn't like 'your guy' does not mean they love George Bush. I thought he was a treasonous bastard as well. Frankly, I can't tell much difference between the two - both are/were colossal failures.

Romney on immigration. Stated that he wants to attract Highly trained immigrants. So he wants to attract more H1 visa holders? How does that help the middle class? How does importing foreign labor help our citizens train and take those high paying jobs.? Can at least one person tell me wtf this a-hole is thinking?

So by the way the things are going. And by the things Romney said in his own words. One he wants more NAFTA AKA open trade agreements with South America. Low skill jobs to the south and central America's. 2. being more H1 visa's for immigration.

Where does that leave the non 1%?

Seriously??? Everything the Republicans have been doing IS to stop raising the deficit. Each and every bill the Democrats have tried to run through increases spending and increases costs of living to the middle class, essentially burying them! You should read the legislation and understand what it will do. You will turn around and thank the Republicans in Congress if you do.

On the other hand, maybe you want to have less worker and environmental safety. Maybe you actually want Democrats to have positions of oversight even if there are conflicts of interest. Maybe you actually want the cost of gasoline in this country to exceed $6/gallon. If so, there is no talking with you. Your mind is already made up.

Read S 3457 and the American Jobs Act legislation very carefully, if you even want to have the semblance of an open mind. Read it and see what it would do to the economy and how it would pave the way for increased debt spending and increasing the debt ceiling to allow more to be borrowed and increase the deficit and national debt. After having read that legislation myself and understanding it, I thank the Republicans for standing in the way of the Democrats and their agenda.

And I want to know why it doesn't bother Democrats why Obama sealed his college records. You sure as heck cannot be calling for transparency from Democrats as there hasn't been any. Obamacare was passed behind doors in a partisan manner with those passing it going against their own constituency. Remember the town hall meetings? I do, and know that the woman responsible for the last vote necessary was Blanche Lincoln, D - Arkansas. It cost her the senate seat for Arkansas.

You think Romney's tax returns are truly that important? That is the fodder that Obama and his camp are pushing. His class warfare tactics work for you "Poor ole' poor folks". Of course, Obama has never worked in the private sector, met a payroll, or created a job (that wasn't funded by those of us who work and pay taxes) in his life. Sheep. How many businesses has Obama created? How much farther in debt are we now since Obama took office 4 years ago? How about worrying about that? Sheep.

              Canada's Keystone XL Pipeline

              WE INVESTORS KNOW!

The candidates do have different policies, with regard to energy, and efficiencies. We investors see that the Keystone XL Pipeline will not help reduce the price of gasoline. Canada's NAFTA pipeline will bypass the west coast, where consumers have recently been held hostage to high gasoline prices.

If Mitt Romney's policy is to help us achieve energy independence, it will not be via a foreign country; like Canada. Our northern neighbors wish to reach the highly profitable International Brent Crude priced market. Unfortunately it is the Brent price, that dictates the price at our pumps. The road to Brent is across the U.S., to reach the Gulf of Mexico.

Should Mitt Romney win, we investors will buy shares of tar sands producers in Alberta, Canada, and all Americans will continue to pay high gasoline prices for decades!

President Obama will reduce our dependency on oil across the board. Which is why a win for Obama, signals investments in fuel efficient automobile manufacturers, like Ford.

He broke his promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them. 37 major pieces of legislation signed, not one a web site, that’s 37 Major Lies.

He broke his promise to freeze spending for three years. Largest increases in history

He broke his promise to “change the tone of politics” (calling the GOP liars, Fox news destructive). The most vile administration in history.

He broke his promise that illegal aliens would not be covered in the new Health Care legislation.

He broke his promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN. None yet, all lies.

He broke his promise to end earmarks (9,000 in his first budget). 29,00 additional lies.

He broke his promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent (failed stimulus) . In 42 months, 42 more lies

He broke his promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year. Still open.

He broke his promise to make peace with direct, no pre-condition talks with America ’s most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation. None yet, more lies.

He broke his promise to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs (At last count, there were 22 working at the WH). 22 lies and counting.

He broke his promise to end no-compete contracts with the government (tons of contacts given to cronies). 79% of GM sales going to Federal government fleets, all funded by your tax dollars.

He broke his promise to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.

He broke his promise for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters. The worst and most non existent ever seen.

He broke his promise about accepting public financing (pay as you go) when was running for office. 140 million lies.

He broke his promise to Congress (made on May 18, 2011) that the U.S. would taking military action in Libya for “days” rather than “weeks and the U.S. would be take a “supporting” role.” None taken.

He broke his promise that his health care legislation would cut health insurance premiums by $2,500 per year. (As of 2011, HHS has approved 1,372 Obamacare waivers from anxious employers and other organizations, covering 3.1 million Americans).

He said he spent less than any president, but he’s spent enough to increase the Federal deficit by 70% in just 3 years (6 Trillion Lies).

He said that government has lost more jobs than private sector. His record is 150,00 more Federal workers in only 3 years, a Massive record of 150,000 Lies. All paid for by tax payers.

His only ability is to Lie, Lie, Lie. It’s hard to believe how many idiots there are that believe them.

I would put my bet on Romney before Obama: Obama is an excellent speaker and makes you feel good for awhile ;so does ice cream.

Mit Romney tells you that you are going to get ice cream but a better quality and at a competitive price without having to tax you at a higher rate. because he ok'd an ice cream small business loan that allowed the shop keeper to expand and hire more workers that will increase tax revenue and decrease the overall unemployment and create a better economy. Get it? Good!

Why ANY woman would vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket goes way beyond belief. Really. Why would ANY woman want to be told what she CAN and CAN NOT do with her body just doesn't make any sense. For men, our insurance picks up the tab for our "little blue pills" otherwise known as, VIAGRA. And if we need more meds for erectile dysfunction, we're covered. If we need "massage" toys to get us in the mood, or for whatever, yes ma'am, our insurance covers that, too. But, for you of the "Gentler Sex", Romney/Boy WanderLies and the rest of the GOP will not only take away your right to YOUR body, you will NOT have insurance coverage on birth control pills, estrogen replacement pills, pap smears, pelvic exams, breast exams and certainly NOT "in the mood" toys!

Romney said: every woman should have "access" to birth control. Yes, well no one is arguing that; BUT what Romney WON'T say out loud to women is that YOUR INSURANCE WON'T cover it, if Romney has his way.

And what about EQUAL PAY for EQUAL WORK? The military has EQUAL PAY for EQUAL RANK; why should the civilian workforce be any different? Answer--It shouldn't. Thing is, men were NEVER the sole "bread winner." There were always women fending for themselves and their children throughout history. Always. Don't you think it's time to set things right? Isn't it time that pay be "Gender-less"? I'm just sayin'.

If you women are happy being "Second Class" citizens then by all means, vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket. If you want a bunch of white, pompous, (women-should-be-barefoot-and-pregnant") rich men telling you what to do with your body, then by all means, vote the Romney/Ryan ticket. This is America, land of "free choice"...sort of.

Condoms are cheap, any single woman not in a monogamous relationship and not using a condom in today's world, is an idiot. As to using birth control as a drug for a health problem, hmmm, you can buy those pills at the Walmart pharmacy for about nine dollars and many insurance companies will cover the cost if they are prescribed as a drug.

So, Sandra Fluke used almost four thousand dollars worth of birth control in her short time in school, and people REALLY believe that crap?

Guess you also missed the information that Obama pays the female staff in the White House less than their male counterparts. Lily Ledbetter is dandy, just don't expect the actions to match the words.

Pure propaganda, Democrats use scare tactics, it really shows their real level of respect for women. Roe v Wade will never change, those statements are attempts at affective attitude manipulation. It won't matter if birth control is available from insurers if nobody can get a job.

Look, I'm an independent and downright sick of all politicians at this point, but Romney never created a job either and as for working in the private sector - there's a one in a 7.9 billion chance that you have even the slightest idea of the kind of sector he works in.

He doesn't start companies. He made his money by raising a massive amount of capital from crony investors the likes of which you and I could never so much as serve drinks to, then using the change in the market created by the free trade agreements of the late nineties, he took over companies and facilitated off shoring the labor while charging the companies exorbitant "management fees." It isn't as though he was managing a McDonalds or starting a small accounting firm and beating the streets to find new clients. You mentioned meeting payroll - he never had a payroll. All employees of Bain except for a few secretaries were listed as investors so that income could be taxed at the capital gains percent and not as income. Romney isn't a business owner the way the guy that owns the bakery down the street is. He is an international player working for the truly rich. I mean really - Warren Buffet, the most successful investor of our era is worth around 50 billion. Mitt is more like the best of the rest when it comes to the big time professional players. His only claim to fame is being part of the pool of investors that initially funded Staples, a company that is getting crushed with the downturn and taking a whipping from Office Max. That's the height of Mitt's imaginative business acumen - funding a store that sells the only thing he is familiar with - office supplies.

Point is - we have the following to choose from:

              1. A professional academic, community organizer and author who quickly shifted to becoming a careerist after his election while running on "change." In other words, a dreamer whose role quickly changed once he got into power. Many of his moves reek of selling out to the real power.

              versus

              2. A professional corporate raider born with a silver spoon in his mouth who changes his story every time he talks. In other words, a snake oil salesman.

If these are the two best people in the country to be made leaders of the world (US isn't as free as it once was), then we are all doomed and all of this arguing is pointless.

If one should happen to notice and pay attention, any other possible candidates were 'railroaded' right out of the spotlight. There SHOULD be some potentially really great candidates in ALL OF AMERICA! It would tend to make a person think that we are being herded, kinda like sheep, into choice A: or choice B, and that it doesn't really matter terrifically to those that are really in charge.

So seems a lot of you for Obama don't mention about the debt, the higher price, the lower wage ratio to spending on living, ie groceries, heating, electric. No one has quoted his plan to get us out of this mess. I have not heard him say anything concrete, except rob the rich to pay the government. What will that pay? Our interest payment is more than that will yeild for a week of interest. He has lied and gotten caught, like the Lybia scandal, they all knew and he lied the longest. Can anyone think of any motives other than it looks bad on your policy for the Middle East and terrorists ( I know he can hardly bring himself to say that word). Can anyone tell me what Forward means? To me we are going down a terrible path to destruction, forward would be ridiculous at this time. To jmagnum you are pretty crude but if you need viagra go for it and if your insurance pays for it good. The pill is about #10 bucks. People smoke and pay more for that and they don't think a thing about it. I was a single parent, I was never a second class citizen, I worked as a nurse and never felt the least bit second class except when I was married to a crude bum who worked part time at a factory and laid with those women who should have used birth control pills. One didn't andall she got was a baby and no man, he never married her, I told you he was a bum. Last but not least, this Sandra Fluke who used $4000.00 on birth control, well in my day she would have been referred to as a whore. She should have been charging and she would have been out of school by now and started a new profession... oh I think she is going to be a lawyer so same thing I guess. She is the perfect speaker for Mr. Obama, great role model to add to his collection for his children. Jeremiah, the minister; the bomber/professor and others according to his book, Dreams of my Father. This president is the liberal media's golden boy. They don't want to tell anything bad about him. If he is bad it never breaks the news. If Romney does something that seems unpresidential they spend 1 hr and 45 min on it. Like Romney coming out for America over the Apology about the video. But....Obama not saying it was caused by terrorist or even staying at the White House with the Middle East in turmoil and we still had Americans in 20 counties... Vega and Hollywood was the hot spot for our Commander in Chief. Excuse me but who is the President???????

JJJJ may have just said the most astute thing I've read since this election campaign rhetoric began. That being said, we're stuck with the two candidates and based just upon what JJ wrote about Mitt's business experience, I would/and will vote for President Obama without hesitation. So many fools are buying into Romney's declaration of being a "job creator" which is utter bunk. He made his many millions at other's expense and if you doubt that for a moment take a few minutes of your precious time and read about him. It's written by an award winning, investigative journalist and I have yet to hear, or read anyone dispute his findings with facts: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/greed-and-debt-the-true-story-of-mitt-romney-and-bain-capital-20120829

If you think for a moment that Mitt has your best interest at heart, you'd better think twice... he's in it to win it yes, but he couldn't care one bit about your job situation, benefits thereof or income. His idea of capitalism is to wreck businesses by forcing them into debt and then, after taking his fees (for "consulting" of course), leaving them to rot in bankruptcy or worse, effecting hostile takeovers and then selling the scavenged body of what was once a company who employed American workers. Educate yourself about this compulsive lying swindler folks... don't buy into his promises of a brighter day.

Two facts that really stick in my head are: ‎$813 million of the Obama stimulus package went to energy companies that eventually filed for bankruptcy, including A123, Solyndra, Beacon, Abound Solar and EnerDel. Call it an even 1 Billion thrown into the wind... And When Obama stated "Low gas prices are a sign of a weak US economy... Uh no, it means there is less world wide demand OR we have an excess which happens when China or India finds a new source of oil which China has they tapped some oil in Siberia and Mongolia in the spring. That doesnt change the amount the USA requires and it will boost the economy in the USA when fuel drops so does our normal grocery items and anything requiring a bigrig to deliver it across our nation. Obama has no faith in our country and has repeatedly said he would love $10 a gallon gas to FORCE America to go with alternative fuels such as electric. I for one prefer to have the choice of what I want to own when I work to earn my cash. Obama sounds good but hasnt really accomplished much in the 4 years he has had. Why give him 4 more years to "Try" Romney has said he wants a Laffer curve tax system and it's too bad Romney didnt have enough time to explain the Laffer curve. No matter what the tax rates are, the government only collects 18% of the GDP in revenue. So the only way to increase the tax dollars collected by the government is to grow the GDP. The only way to grow GDP is to lower the tax burden on businesses. This is why he is selling the reduced taxes plan because it will spur an economic growth that will pay for the decreases in the tax rate with revenue from the wealth from the business it created that will now be paying taxes. Now Romney's healthcare is fully funded by the state, is not a REQUIRED program and gives many choices in care while Obama's plan is funded by the Federal government taking from other social plans already in place, is required or you will be fined/taxed and gives you no choice in your care. These are massive differences to those who enjoy the choice of how their own bodies are cared for. Now Romney's plans are to create industry and grow american economy by making it a good financial idea to open new companies in the united states by allowing them to compete with the world market - most countries have a MUCH lower tax rate then ours with 15-25% being the most popular range while we are currently at 35%. These are effective (historically) methods of growing a nations economy but what has Obama done to make things better... Throwing money away to make it grow hasnt worked... Especially his stimulus packages that are funding fluff, like the 800+ million spent on Green energy that were POOR fiscal choices EVEN Obama's staff told him so on 3 of the mentioned companies. Where is Obama's plan for recovery he was asked during the last debate and again tonight and he tapdanced around the issue again and never said anything about actual plans for helping. Yet people say Romney is against the poor and will ruin the country... Look beyond your bias due to his political or religious views and judge them both by what they have actually stated. Neither are perfect, I am just choosing the lesser of the two evils and the person that has the best chance to turn the economy around. We dont have 4 years to hope for change, we need this in place as soon as possible. I am sorry Obama you are a great speaker and dreamer, but your implementation is lacking...

I read a lot of these posts and I have to admit that those from the right are of the same mind set as their party and that is to ignore the facts even when there is video proving their candidate is lying. Those who have stated Crawley and our President lied relating to what Obama said in the Rose garden. Obama did say it was an act of terror and Repubs and their sheep followers can only say one thing and that is he lied. I follow politics closely and yes Obama could have done more but we all know that he has been dealing with a very obstructive GOP who have put their parties re-election before the American people. You don't have to be a well educated person to know that Mitt, Paul and the GOP are scamming you into believing taking us back to the Bush agenda will work this time. Can anyone on the right tell America in detail how M and P's economic plan will create jobs and I don't just want to hear the same old rhetoric. You have to realize, just because someone says they will make things better doesn't mean it will happen. If the GOP and Republicans were to get honest they would know that Obama has a record to run on and Mitt has a record to run on. Mitts record has been proven that he has outsourced American jobs, made millions by laying off American workers, thinks it's fair for him to pay less taxes than the working class, offshore millions to avoid paying taxes on it and his record as governor is not as good as he tries to portray. We as Americans are our own worst enemy because those on the right have stated they don't care about truth or facts and they are will vote for a known liar who only cares about the wealthy in our country and the sad thing is those working class Americans voting for Mitt are the same Americans he doesn't care about. Really sad how those Americans are willing to cut of their nose to spite their face

obama stopped the keystone pipeline because they were taking peoples private property by eminent domain. these families had lived on some of these properties for generations. of course romney would not stop the keystone pipeline (this proves he doesnt care about the american people) all he cares about is big money to line his big fat pocketbook.

Should Mitt Romney win, we investors will buy shares of tar sands producers in Alberta, Canada, and all Americans will continue to pay high gasoline prices for decades!

It is true that we will pay high prices for gasoline for quite some time. The EPA under the Obama administration is the primary cause. Well over a dozen refineries across the country shut down citing Obama EPA regulations. If Obama gets in again, and is given another Democrat-controlled Congress, we will see those gasoline prices even higher, within the range of between $6 and $10 a gallon! Obama promised to do it. Obama's Energy Secretary wants Americans to pay $10/gallon so we'll use less.

The Democrats already tried to push through legislation that would have raised gasoline prices just recently. See the latest American Jobs Act to read where they tried to do that to the middle class. Be thankful the Republicans blocked that legislation or we all would have been paying a lot more for gasoline than we now are. The prices of everything would have gone up and the middle class would have been buried again under the guise of creating jobs.

Nit wit Mitt Wrongney has been repeating the same lies
saying he cares for the poor while on camera. Off camera he says it is not his
job to care for the poor. When the cynical Wrongney was speaking his lies at
the presidential debate, he said that Obama did not say what the specifics were
for who qualifies for refinancing their home. We all should know including Nit
Wit Mitt what it takes to qualify for a mortgage loan. The agreement is worked
out with the bank that is to refinance the applicant. Wrongney is telling us
that our deficit is increasing because of Obama’s policies. When Obama took office as president, the war
was costing more than $20 billion a month. One aircraft carrier uses one
million gallons of fuel every five months. The auto industry was set to lose
nearly one million jobs. George Bush had a bailout bill on the table as he was
leaving office. Obama used that to save the jobs of the nearly one million auto
workers. They were and are paying it back.

There were so many things that Nit Wit Mitt Wrongney
proposed that Obama has been trying to get the Republican run House of Reps to
pass for nearly three years. In his campaign speeches, he is saying the exact
same things as Obama said when he became president. Wrongney will do anything
because his money is his god. The Republicans said they don’t want to work with
Obama. The Republicans said they want him out of office because he wants to
                    help everyone in America. The
republicans are mostly self-serving and only want to fill their own pockets with
tax payer dollars by steering the money into their projects and special
interests. Nit Wit Mitt Wrongney said that the president’s policies failed but
the Republicans never allowed anything to get passed by voting NO on every
single measure. Remember that everyone in Washington was voted into their
position there by American voters to do a job. When the Republicans lied about
the socialism that doesn’t exist, they were voted in. Now the Republicans are
causing major gridlock on every measure that is put forth to make it appear
that President Obama is a failure. The Republicans were told in their campaign
meetings to use fear to cause people to distrust Obama. This was broadcast on
the internet recently. Also the people everywhere are cashing in on president
Obama by using any kind of controversy like the issues of Socialism, him being
Islam, not an American born in America and him being a communist. Everyone is
making a windfall by projecting Obama as any one of these.

President Obama doesn’t speak to America as if he is
speaking to ignorant and uninformed citizens. Wrongney is talking to America as
if they are completely uninformed and ignorant about what the republicans have
been doing to stop any kind of progress in Washington. Wrongney has put forth
his plan and it contains some of the plans that Obama has already tried to get
Washington to put through. Obama has a job bill that would create some 45
million jobs over 10 years. But the Republicans won’t vote yes to pass the
bill. The republican governors say they don’t want bailout and Federal funding
while the cameras are rolling. But they request and accept the money to the
tune of more than 36 billion in the state of Mississippi and Florida. Some things Wrongney says he wants to do is
something thats already in place at this time. Wrongney still thinks everyone
is completely stupid. That is how Wrongney wants to treat Americans. His plan
is to allow the individual states handle the billions of government dollars. This
will open the door to self-serving and greedy politicians to do what they want
with the money. The people waiting for help from the state government will die
on the hospital steps while they are waiting. The sick will die in waiting
rooms and at home because of the greed and misappropriation of funds. It is
happening right now in Florida and Mississippi. Billions are in the hands of
politicians that have personal agendas while those who need it are waiting to
get help. The governor of Florida was
cited for $10 billion dollars in Medicare fraud while he ran some of the
hospitals in Florida. The Republicans and TEA partyers are going to destroy
America as if a Terrorist group has taken over. The republicans are doing the
work of terrorists right now in Washington by stopping every plan that Obama
has on the table. People need help right now but Wrongney says that he has a
plan for the distant future. Obama has a plan right now in front of the
Republicans. When the Healthcare reform bill was being discussed by the
republicans and democrats in the same room, the republicans had the bill in
front of them on the table. The republicans were saying; “We can’t read this
bill” or “We don’t know what is in this bill.” It was right on the table in
front of each person on the Democrats side and the Republican side. The Republicans
were saying; “We want to be included in this process.” They were sitting in the
same room while the process was happening. Yet they were creating video bites
to be used later to fool feeble-minded and unaware American citizens. The democrats gave their input without any
nonsense. The republicans were just saying; “I am not going to read this bill. “ They just want to get the money into their
own pockets. Now Wrongney has been saying that he has a bill that will be a
better one. When they say that they haven’t read the first one, how will they
know that Wrongney’s bill is better?

Feeble minded Americans were told that they were angry by
Fox and CNN. They didn’t know what they were angry about until they were told
                    why.

The fake polls began to pop up after one month of Obama
being in the office of president. The feeble minded people were told to go into
the streets and say they were angry. The media used steering tactics and fake
polls. They were and are spending and making millions of dollars on the feeble
minded that were duped by the media. The satanic Fox network had the biggest
influence on the feeble minded. I saw how it transpired and was not fooled. Fox
was stirring up the masses to rebel and riot in the streets. They paraded into
Washington DC with pictures of Obama hanging, swastikas and confederate flags
waving. Foxaholics began to buy guns because they were told to fight against
fake socialism in America. They were told that the FEDS were going to take
their guns. CNN joined the band wagon
and reaped millions of dollars. Mr. Murdoch’s media machine has been paying and
getting paid to spread UNLIMITED, MALICIOUS AND UNRESTRAINED LIES ABOUT THE
                    PRESIDENT.

This created a windfall of billions for the people at Fox
and CNN. People at Fox sold their souls for money and began to lie effortlessly
and very professionally. Some of the Foxaholics were buying guns by the box
loads and hiding them. Guns sales are
still soaring because of these steering tactics. Right now the word on feeble minded
street level is that there is going to be a civil war before the election. They
are preparing for this by digging bunkers and stocking up on thousands of
rounds of ammunition. Fox will be right in the middle orchestrating this civil
war. How much more satanic can it get than that? There are other nations that
want America destroyed. Fox and CNN are helping their cause.

Maybe Nit Wit Mitt Wrongney needs to go in a plane to
39,000 feet and roll the window down.

The Republicans want to privatize prisons and hospitals
to keep government money and to place rates however they want.

The votes from 26 states are sent to Tampa, Florida to be
counted. This is where the Republicans headquarters are located. The company
that owns the voting machines is owned by Spain and has its financial offices
in the Cayman Islands where Wrongney keeps his business affairs finances.

Obama out right lied about Libya on the debate tonight. He spent a couple of weeks saying a video caused everything, that it was a spontaneous riot. He even went to the U.N., went on The View and several other places condemning "The Mohammed Video". Tonight he out right lied and said he called it an act of terror immediately. He doesn't want to acknowledge that terrorism is alive and well because he's trying to use killing Bin Laden as his signature achievement. He is a repeat of Jimmy Carter and his failed Middle East Agenda. It's like a repeat of history, gas prices and all! Obama got flustered after the Libya question. Right after, on the next question, he couldn't concentrate. His body language and speech was off. BTW, Candy Crowley just apologized for her mistake about Libya.

I am not sure who you are talking about in your post The Past Is Gone.

I am not an American but I do follow your politics cause whatever happens there trickles on down to us. I tried to watch the debate tonight but after 15 minutes I had to turn it. I cannot look at Romney, I cannot listen to Romney - in fact he makes me want to puke and to hear people buying his lies really really mystifies me. He is so transparent it doesnt take a genious to see right through him and it didnt tonight take a genious to see the kind of hatred he has for Obama. A month ago or so Romney said he wanted nothing to do with the middle class and poor people - he referred to them as leaches and now gee he is all about helping that group of 47% all because he screwed up and had to flip flop back to the popular stance on it. And he wants to give tax breaks now for the middle class not the rich. So which is it. Are you people putting all that he has said of late and now seeing that he really doesnt have a plan - he doesnt have a platform - he simply flip flops back and forth to get the popular vote. I believe he has no clue what he is going to do if he becomes President - he will just make it up as he goes. And his running mate is as clueless as him so think about this. If Romney gets in and something happens to him - do you really think that Paul Ryan could run an entire country. To me that is scarey and I believe it wont take long after he would become President before you are asking yourselves what the h*ll you have done but it will be too late. If I were you guys and didnt like either one of them as many do - I would look at choosing the safest person to elect and to me that would be Obama. I cannot believe nor will I ever believe the number of people that praise Romney for so many reasons. If you all think Obama is a liar - that goes 100 times more for Romney and Ryan. Romney doesnt know how to tell the truth. And for a supposidly religious man (Mormons whatever they are) he sure is quick to judge, lie, hate, and look to money to be the most important thing in his life. I dont know what their Bible says but it is not the same as the one I read. He is a phoney. And I shudder to think of what the effect will be on us if Romney become President. At least here if we put the wrong person in we can get him out within 6 months - you guys are stuck with him for 4 years. I have no sympathy for those that adore him and want to put him in because if they succeed they arent going to know what hit him cause they are just so gullable.

well folks we are not arguing about the right thing,, where do you think this right wing puk is coming from; it is the cock brothers and the 1%,, this is not coming from Romney and his beliefs, it is just how bad the money boys want the leadership and control of how our government plays out,

there are those of you that can and will benefit from this group, then there will be some who believe they can play with this group,, sorry you will gradually lose your chips and by then it will be to late for those of you who play with fire and get burnt

and those who lose their chips are most if not all of the 98%. my question to most of you is do you have any ancestry that can attest to you what made the labor unions so strong,, although i doubt if you do , it might pay you to go back and study up on just that subject and see if any of what was can be of what is

and you might know what is ironic is that the most of you who are serious name callers will be among the first who scream they didn't vote for the cock brothers,, well you did, maybe you just cannot see what you are doing or maybe you are a huge part of the brain dead who at this time just don't care to think for yourselves

and believe the do nothing right wing puks are doing what they believe is alright but don't realize that signing a document to pledge things to a norquist that are not even offered as an alternative to others rather just to further greed expedients for those who want to control the lives of 98 percent of us.

and when the walls come tumbling down around us then my friends it will be far to late to become distrustful and attempt to turn things around for the deeds that have been successfully done as far as making our country a 3rd world country is we will have lost our country.

this is my best effort at explaining my full opinions

Obama has just informed us that in the middle of the next decade we will be paying less for gas due to better vehicles. Oh good. Volt can go back into business during the next decade. And we'll get paid back for the federal funding they received and went bankrupt on.

Where did this extra 16% of gas come from? Not from the Gulf. Not from the Pipeline. Not from all the restrictions Obama placed on energy companies and states.

Gasoline prices were at an all time high in June of 2008 when oil prices exceeded $140 dollars a barrel before the meltdown. They dropped to around $1.80 a gallon when the economy here and around the world collapsed at the end of Bush's term and oil consumption dropped 20%. Would you rather have us losing 800,000 jobs a month so gas would be lower?

It is also that high because a number of refineries on both the East and West Coasts shut down. Less refineries = increased demand for less available goods. That is why the price hikes on the coasts were so much more significant than what happened in states that still have their refineries operational. Obama certainly is no friend to oil.

Many Americans also cannot afford to buy a newer, more fuel-efficient car. But, the interesting thing is, the increase of these more fuel-efficient vehicles are being blamed in part by some for the necessity of refineries being closed. Less demand for gasoline as a result of less people buying gasoline and higher fuel efficiency are allegedly partly to blame for refinery closures. But, this drives up the cost of gasoline. Supply and Demand.

But, then again, there is also the issue of EPA regulations that are responsible as well.

                    http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrybell/2012/05/01/the-epa-has-petroleum-processers-over-a-barrel-costly-regulations-produce-crude-unrefined-results/

Less refineries = less gasoline to meet demand = rising costs. Did I mention that Obama is no friend to oil? Worse, refinery closures also mean...wait for it...less jobs.

@6.10 Mike -- You're right, the price of gas follows economic activity, at least in the long term moving average sense, but with lots of short term ups and downs due to lots of factors -- speculation, OPEC, etc. Obama's point about the price of gas being $1.86 because of lack of demand -- the economy on the verge of collapse -- was absolutely correct.

He should've followed that statement by pointing out that in the summer of 2008, before the collapse and long before Obama's election -- gas was $4.12/gallon. Do we blame that on Bush? Well maybe some people do, but that's rather naive, just as blaming today's gas prices on Obama is rather naive.

For those who want to see for themselves how gas prices follow economic activity, go to gasbuddy dot com and look at the 8 year chart price chart. Use your imagination to smoothe out the peaks and valleys and you will see something very interesting: Prior to the crash, the last time gas prices were $1.86 was way back in October 2005 -- exactly 7 years ago. The long-term trend since then was up, up, up, right up until September 2008 when it falls off a cliff -- from around $4 a gallon to a low of $1.61 in December 2008. Since Obama took office, the long term trend has again been up, up, up, to today's price of nearly $4 a gallon.

So tell me people, were those the "good old days" in late 2008, when we were so lucky to get gas for less than $2 a gallon? Yeah, boom times, right? Except for the stock market crash and all the mass layoffs throughout the nation. But hey, we had cheap gas!

                      #6.17 - Wed Oct 17, 2012 12:06 PM EDT

Refinery closures also affect the price of gasoline. Obama's EPA created rules so tough that well over a dozen refineries along the coasts and elsewhere could not meet the new standards and were shut down. This caused the latest round of price hikes along the coasts first. As other closures followed prices hiked up in other States as well.

Something not widely talked about on sites like this is that Obama's Energy guy, Steven Chu, has gone on record that the only way to get people to use less gasoline and other carbon-based fuels is to raise the prices to the levels of those in Europe. Europeans pay around $10 a gallon for gasoline. In Haiti it is as high as $12 a gallon, depending upon where you fuel up.

Obama wants to raise prices on gasoline. He has promised to do so. After he was elected, he spoke before Congress and promised to end subsidies and redirect those moneys to so-called "green" technologies. If he does what he promised, gasoline will reach price ranges seen in Europe. Giving him another term and another Democrat-controlled Congress and we all may well see gasoline prices as high as those in Europe in the very near future. These subsidies were introduced in the first place to help keep fuel prices lower than they would be otherwise.

                        Now Obama is using it.

Unbelievable how moronic some of these responses are. The Obama administration saved us from nothing, if they had no bailout we'd all be better off today as the healthy banks and healthy companies would have picked up the pieces and in fact with less of a government deficit and healthy companies, investors and banks taking over the bankrupt companies and banks the economy and job market would be better than it is now (The 1st bailout in Bushes term saved the collapse of the banks). He also, promised the people that support him the most, many things and did none of them, and the biggest lie of all was Obama saying he would spread the wealth (It sure got votes, BUT IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFETIME EVEN IF OBAMA WAS PRESIDENT FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS). With a 16 Trillion Dollar Deficit, the government will have no wealth to spread for many years to come and if Obama taxed all the wealthy people tomorrow exactly what he said he'd do, the extra revenue collected is only 9 days of what it cost to run the government or only 8.5 days of our interest payment on the 16 trillion dollar deficit. The truth is, if Obama taxes the wealthy, JOBS WILL BE LOST, THE ECONOMY WILL STAGNATE EVEN MORE, and since taxing the wealthy more isn't enough revenue, Obama has no choice but to tax the middle class (This is a fact). So I see no wealth being spread anytime soon as we'll all be suffering from four more years of the Obama policies. Also, as for the wealthy cheating taxes, I say we need allot more wealthy cheating on their taxes as some have said here, why Mitt Romney paid more in Federal Income Tax last year than most Americans will pay in their entire lifetime at 14.1 % and gave 2 million to charity (also more than most Americans will give in their entire lifetime charity) as did many wealthy Americans and they did it legally. We need more wealthy people doing the same, and in a free country, we all could have done what they did if we wanted to and tried, many just gave up, didn't try or don't want to. Mitt Romney's Mother lived on food stamps when he was a boy, he wasn't wealthy, Mitt is the perfect example of obtaining the American Dream and living it. While some love to wallow in their sorrow asking where's mine, other go out and get it as we all can do in a free market society.

As to underwear, so pathetically sad that the 'liberals' who espouse equality and freedom and all that good stuff can sink so far. You stand on your soapbox and defend Obama against accusations of being Muslim and then turn around and bash Mormonism? Hypocrite.

IF you want to vote for the middle class then you'd best not vote for Obama. He and his Energy Secretary want to raise the price of gasoline to the levels seen in Europe. Give him another term and another Democrat-controlled Congress and you will live to see that day.

How does hiking gas prices to $10 a gallon help the middle class? What it does is to make the prices of everything go up as high fuel costs are passed on to the consumer. How does that help the middle class?

As Romney Repeats Trade Message, Bain Maintains China Ties

The tale of Asimco Technologies, an auto parts manufacturer whose plants dot eastern China, would seem to underscore Mitt Romney’s campaign-trail complaint that China’s manufacturing juggernaut is costing America jobs.

Nine years ago, the company bought two camshaft factories that employed about 500 people in Michigan. By 2007 both were shut down. Now Asimco manufactures the same components in China on government-donated land in a coastal region that China has designated an export base, where companies are eligible for the sort of subsidies Mr. Romney says create an unfair trade imbalance.

But there is a twist to the Asimco story that would not fit neatly into a Romney stump speech: Since 2010, it has been owned by Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by Mr. Romney, who has as much as $2.25 million invested in three Bain funds with large stakes in Asimco and at least seven other Chinese businesses, according to his 2012 candidate financial disclosure and other documents.

That and other China-related holdings by Bain funds in which Mr. Romney has invested are a reminder of how he inhabits two worlds that at times have come into conflict during his campaign for the White House.

As a candidate, Mr. Romney uses China as a punching bag. He accuses Beijing of unfairly subsidizing Chinese exports, artificially holding down the value of its currency to keep exports cheap, stealing American technology and hacking into corporate and government computers.

“How is it China’s been so successful in taking away our jobs?” he asked recently. “Well, let me tell you how: by cheating.”

But his private equity dealings, both while he headed Bain and since, complicate that message.

Mr. Romney’s campaign insists he has no control over his investments since they are held in a blind trust. That said, a confidential prospectus for one of the Bain funds, obtained by The New York Times, promotes China as a good investment for some of the same reasons that Mr. Romney has said concern him: “Strong fundamentals” like manufacturing wages 85 percent lower than what Americans earn, vast foreign exchange reserves and the likelihood that China will surpass the United States as the world’s largest economy.

“Accordingly, Bain Capital expects to see an increasing array of high-growth companies available for investment,” the prospectus says, noting the relative dearth of private equity in China.

Among the companies in which the Bain funds have invested is a global auto parts maker that is in the process of closing a factory in Illinois and moving most of the equipment and jobs to Jiangsu Province, where the Chinese government has built it a new plant; a Chinese electronics retailer accused by Microsoft of selling computers with pirated software; and a Hong Kong-based Chinese appliance maker that was sued for copying another company’s design for a deep-fat fryer.

Asked if Mr. Romney sees any conflict between his Bain investments in China and his policy positions, the campaign said: “Only the president has the power to level the playing field with China. No private citizen can do that alone.”

The campaign said Mr. Romney put his fortune, estimated at $250 million, in a “blind trust” when he became Massachusetts governor in 2003. “The trustee of the blind trust has said publicly that he will endeavor to make the investments in the blind trust conform to Governor Romney’s positions, and whenever it comes to his attention that there is something inconsistent, he ends the investment,” the statement said.

Should Mr. Romney become president, however, the structure of the trust would most likely not meet the federal requirements for independent management. It is managed by a Boston-based law firm, Ropes & Gray, that has a long history of doing legal work for both Mr. Romney and Bain Capital, including representing some of the same Bain funds in which it invested Mr. Romney’s money.

Mr. Romney’s trustee, R. Bradford Malt, who is chairman of Ropes & Gray, declined to comment.

Bain Capital declined to comment on specific investments, but said in a statement that its Chinese holdings “are consistent with the widely accepted principle that the private sector has a critical role to play in the continuing interdependence of the world’s economies.”

For many sophisticated and wealthy investors, as well as for ordinary workers invested in pension funds, China is a part of any diversified investment strategy. President Obama, a former Illinois state senator, has as much as $100,000 in a state retirement plan that contains shares of Sensata Technologies, the same auto parts company controlled by Bain that is closing its Illinois factory.

Last year, Mr. Romney’s trust sold its stake in an array of foreign holdings, including two Chinese state-owned companies: an oil company and a bank that have done business in Iran. But Mr. Romney continues to have money in Bain funds with sizable holdings in China.

He has as much as $250,000 in the Bain Capital Asia Fund and as much as $1 million each in Bain Capital Funds IX and X, all Cayman Islands entities used by Bain to make sizable investments in China, according to the 2012 candidate financial disclosures and confidential Bain prospectuses obtained by The Times through a public records request.

Among those funds’ holdings is $234 million that Bain invested in 2009 in Gome Electrical Appliances, a major Chinese retailer that was accused by Microsoft this year of selling computers with pirated software. In 2007, Bain’s Asia fund also invested $39 million in Feixiang Group, a Chinese producer and exporter of chemicals that is a designated “state high-tech enterprise,” making it eligible for tax breaks and other government incentives. Ropes & Gray represented Bain in the partial sale of Feixiang three years later for a 53 percent return on the fund’s investment.

The Asia fund withdrew from another deal in 2008 that could have proved politically embarrassing to Mr. Romney. After the Bush administration objected, Bain dropped plans to team up with a Chinese technology giant, Huawei, to buy 3Com, a network equipment maker that supplies software and equipment to the Pentagon and other federal agencies.

The administration said intelligence reports indicated that Huawei, which was founded by a former People’s Liberation Army officer, posed “national security problems,” according to a lawsuit stemming from the deal’s collapse. A House Intelligence Committee reportreleased Monday said Huawei continued to have troubling connections to the Chinese government, something the company denies.

Bain’s interest in China dates to when Mr. Romney ran the firm. During a panel discussion at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston in February 1998, he told of touring an appliance factory in China where 5,000 employees “were working, working, working, as hard as they could, at rates of roughly 50 cents an hour.”

Not long afterward, a Bain affiliate, Brookside Capital Partners, acquired about 6 percent of Global-Tech Appliances, whose factory in many ways matched Mr. Romney’s description. The next year, Brookside and another Bain-related entity increased their stake to 9 percent, before selling their shares in 2000.

Just before Bain bought shares, a French firm accused Global-Tech of stealing its deep-fat fryer design. In a decision affirmed by the Supreme Court in 2011, the company was found to have willfully violated the French firm’s United States patent, selling the knockoffs even after it was sued.

Mr. Romney also has millions invested in a series of Bain funds that have a controlling stake in Sensata Technologies, a manufacturer of sensors and controls for vehicles, aircraft and electric motors that employs 4,000 workers in China. Since Bain took over the operation in 2006, its investment has quadrupled in value. Bain continues to own $2.6 billion worth of Sensata’s shares.

Two years ago, Sensata bought an operation that made automobile sensors in Freeport, Ill. At the first meeting with the plant’s 170 workers, Sensata managers announced that by the end of 2012 all the equipment and jobs would be relocated, mostly to Jiangsu Province. Workers have staged demonstrations, pleading for Mr. Romney to intervene on their behalf.

Chinese engineers, flown to Freeport for training on the equipment, described their salaries as a pittance compared with Freeport wages. Tom Gaulrapp, who has operated machines at the factory for 33 years, said he fears he will go bankrupt after he loses his job on Nov. 5.

“This goes to show the unbelievable hypocrisy of this man,” he said of Mr. Romney. “He talks about how we need to get tough on China and stop China from taking our jobs, and then he is making money off shipping our jobs there.”

It is often difficult to determine precisely how much Mr. Romney benefits from specific investments by Bain funds, since his money goes into a pool used to buy stakes in companies. In the case of Sensata, however, it is clearer because he reported a charitable donation of $405,000 in Sensata stock that he received as “partnership distributions” in 2010 and 2011, according to his tax returns.

Jiangsu Province, where most of the Freeport jobs are moving, is one of China’s designated “export bases” for auto parts. Asimco, the other auto parts manufacturer in Bain’s portfolio, also has factories in Jiangsu Province and three other regions designated as export bases.

The Chinese government incentives offered to companies in those “bases” set off a complaint from the United States to the World Trade Organization last month. The United States asserted that in 2011, China spent $1 billion on grants, tax preferences, lowered interest rates and other subsidies to increase exports of auto parts in violation of fair trade rules.

Mr. Romney has been critical of these types of Chinese incentives to bolster exports.

The state-controlled Chinese Academy of Sciences has provided free research and development to Asimco, which exports at least 15 percent of its products, primarily to the United States. The authorities also gave the company land to build the factory that replaced the plants in Grand Haven, Mich.

Asimco’s China operations became a point of contention in bankruptcy proceedings that accompanied the closing of the Michigan plants. The bankruptcy trustee said that internal Asimco e-mails showed the company had transferred money to China to qualify for a Chinese tax rebate available only to manufacturers of exported products.

Jack Perkowski, the former longtime chairman of Asimco who now advises Western companies seeking to enter the Chinese market, said Asimco never benefited from export-related subsidies because most of its customers are in China. “I honestly can’t think of anything we could have gotten that was tied to the fact we were exporting,” he said.

But the company is striving for more overseas buyers. Last year Zhang Dejiang, the Chinese vice prime minister in charge of transportation, visited an Asimco assembly line and offered encouragement to workers. According to a statement on the company’s Web site, Mr. Zhang was particularly impressed that “the company’s products can rival their Western counterparts.”

Evidently, you still haven't figured out what it means to retire from active management of a company.

Besides, what does it matter what Romney or his managers do with their OWN money? Personally, I'm more concerned with what Obama and Congress does with TAXPAYER money.

By the way, how much has Obama LOST with his support of 'green' companies that have subsequently failed? How much does GM still owe the taxpayer?

You are new, with no history, no voting record, no friends, nothing! It would tend to make me suspect a 'plant', someone who just entered the scene- in order to sway people.

Your post could have made me look deeper into Romney- not that Obama is anything but unable to do the job, but I think I will hold my positions.

That doesn't nullify the facts, does it?

Face it! Romney's entire career at Bain is based on firing Americans and hiring the Chinese. He is part of the problem with America, not part of any solution.

... not that Obama is anything but unable to do the job,

                              The facts say different...

...the numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December, 681,000 were lost; and between December and January, 741,000 were lost.

April 2012 marks the 26th straight month of gains in private-sector employment, for a total of 4.2 million private-sector jobs.

                              Speaking of islam, Tom...

Let's see what Obama thinks about islam, shall we?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEIDmDqQqwc We celebrate ramadan, but not the National Day of Prayer. For you who will scream separation, let's be fair - endorse islam? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XFngRvOhH4 Let's blame a videographer for making a movie about islam (which is within the 1st amendment rights afforded us here) and friggin' apologize rather than being outraged that 4 of our American citizens died in Libya; and let's don't call them TERRORISTS. Outrageous!

The sitting president looks like a weak, lily-livered namby-pamby who not only doesn't defend Americans - the battle in Benghazi lasted 5 hours - 5 hours Americans were under fire - even though they'd asked for more security. This man is an empty good-looking suit with no substance who could care less about anyone other than for the vote which they can cast - legal or not.

What is even more concerning about this attack on our Libyan Embassy and the murder of 4 Americans is the Obama administration mislead the American people for two weeks stating it was a video that caused this attack. If the Al-Qaeda decides to attack Hollywood, will we again be mislead by our President and the media. The American people deserve the truth and nothing but the truth. Secretary Clinton has come out and said she takes full responsiblity but the fact is she works for President Obama who has NOT been telling the American people the truth.

Do YOU REMEMBER JANUARY 3, 2007? This can be a real eye opener.
The day the Democrats took over was not January 22, 2009. It was actually January 3, 2007. The Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate at the very start of the 110th Congress. The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.
At This Time:The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The unemployment rate was 4.6%Remember the day...
January 3rd, 2007, was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.
The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?
                                BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!
Congress added to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!
Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 - because it was financially risky for the US economy. And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA!And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie? OBAMA and the Democrat Congress.
So when someone tries to blame Bush,
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER! Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party. Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.
In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.
For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.
If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in fiv years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.
In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I approved expanding that deficit four-fold since January 20, 2009.

So by your assessment the last 2 years have been controlled by the Republican Congress and yet you blame the President.

Typical Republican ploy, when it's a Democrat President with a Republican Congress it's the Presidents fault.

When it's a Republican President with a Democrat Congress then it's Congresses fault.

frespech....The fact is that Obama promised immigration reform on day one and it did not happen. It did not happen in year one or two where there was Democrat mandate. It didn't happen in year three and to that point it did not happen in Congress at all even though his party was the majority in the Senate. Congress have worked to increase visa classes to include well educated immigrants who have graduated from a US University in a STEM field. So honest reform was in the works. What it did not do was allow almost 2 million children of illegal immigrants work status in the United States.

The President pursued his own agenda in an executive order. He sold out American College students and young people So these 1.7 million illegal immigrants have authority to compete for the jobs that American college students need while in college. This Government tells them it is OK to go into debt for tens of thousands of dollars in a jobs market that is already in the toilet and chooses to dump 1.7 million more people to compete for those jobs. To the point are we really going to believe that these illegal immigrants are going to just do an about face and file their taxes in earnest. It certainly is not the track record of the role models these kids have in their parents. We need America students and young people to have unfettered access to jobs. If we need to help them to have a future. One that is not exacerbated by massive unemployment.

The President talks really big about wishing for the new American economy to be filled with high paying jobs and a well educated group of citizens to step into those jobs. It sounds really nice but in truth...that is not the reality because not everyone can be a Chief we need Indians too. Not every kids is going to graduate from high school. We need jobs for those kids to earn a living. Not every kids is going to go to University, and those kids still need jobs to earn a living. It is discouraging enough that we have to entice talent in the well educated STEM fields. Now we are expecting or students to compete for low skilled part time jobs as a stop gap while they are in college. How many people are going to just up and hire a student that has not worked at least part time in their lives?

PRESIDENT OBAMA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR TAKING OUR COUNTRY INTO A FINANCIAL AND MORAL DOWN SPIRAL.

THE UNITED STATES IS A GREAT COUNTRY!! BUT THIS PRESIDENT IS NOT REPRESENTING WHO AMERICA IS!

You're right about that. The only thing that was good under Dumbya Bush was the Unity that resulted from 9/11 -- which itself resulted from Dumbya's ignorance and laziness. And, even that rare Good Thing during the Bush years only lasted a fwe months. The rest of Dumbya's 8 years was a goddam calamity!

Not everybody.A significant percentage of americans identify themselves as "independents".Unfortunately there are a lot of americans who see politics as sport."My party right or wrong." Like it's a football game.Nontheless, over the course of history we've tended to pick the right guy.I'm a Dem myself. But I'll be voting for Romney. To quote the late, great Dem Senator Henry "Scoop" Jackson.

But you did ask a question. You said "Why...?" I truly am with you, but why is the golden question.

Power isn't power without something to make it 'special'. Politicians- MOST of them, are bought off- lots of money exchanges hands and lines pockets. Lobbyists are bought off- lots of money to line their pockets and buy their yachts. So, in addition to 'WHY", ask 'WHO'. WHO is doing all the buying of everything that happens in this country?

Most of all of us everyday people aren't POWER hungry, which lets us be too.... kind, meek, patient, and LED LIKE SHEEP TO THE SLAUGHTER!

We, the people, need to begin to DEMAND a lack of money in politics, and when and if that happens, maybe more than just Democrats and Republicans will actually be allowed to run and be heard- possibly even elected.

What did Congress do in those 40 months? (The House - considerable. The Senate -nothing, not even a budget nor allowing any House bill to be considered.) A whole new order must prevail in Wash. DC as a result of this next election! Now look at these:
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the of all persons. Postmaster General to operate a national registration
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.
-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months.
Feel free to verify the "executive orders" at will... and these are just the major ones I'm sure you've all heard the tale of the "Frog in the Pot"... you all comfortable???
Watch Obama's actions, not his words! By his actions he will show you whereAmerica is headed.
. Just this week, Obama has issued a new executive order that seeks to "harmonize" U.S. economic regulations with the rest of the world. This new executive order is yet another incremental step that is pushing us closer to a North American Union and a one world economic system.
Unfortunately, most Americans have absolutely no idea what is happening.
The American people need to understand that Barack Obama is constantly looking for ways to integrate the United States more deeply with the rest of the world.
The globalization of the world economy has accelerated under Obama, and this latest executive order represents a fundamental change in U.S. economic policy.
Now federal regulators will be required to "harmonize" their work with the international community.THIS IS DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE?? THEN PROVE TO YOURSELF IT'S WRONG. Just Google it!
Why would you wanna vote for someone who is leaving this counrty defendless?
Before Obama became presiedent we had 5000 nuclear warheads for our country's defense,Obama has cut it down to 1500.He's goal is 0 nuclear warheads for our defense while other Countries are stocking up big time.Go and see the movie 2016 it's an eye opener.I was a democrat but thanks to Obama now I'm a proud republican ! As for all of your listing of Exec. Orders......none of the one you gave numbers for have anything to do with President Obama. Obama Exec. Orders start with 13479. But you try to make it sound like he was respondsible for the ones prior to his taking office. And I looked it up. The only Executive Order by President Obama in the last week deals with strengthening sanctions on Iran even more.Look it up yourself......and read it.

I am what you could call middle class, working as a Firefighter. Here is what I have seen the past 4 years. Food prices are up. Gas prices are up. Car prices are up. Clothes prices are up. Auto and Home Insurance costs are up. Health insurance for those of us that actually pay, and aren't getting freebies from the government are up. My wages as a firefighter are the same! My pension, 401k and benefits are down! Quit listening to what Obama says, and look at what he has done. He has made this country worse. Get a clue and vote for Romney. He is our only chance right now to make this country better. Obama will just continue to make it worse if re-elected, guaranteed!

BTW Candy just said on CNN that she reviewed the Obama in the Rose Garden tape and she apologized to Romney

Oh, stop LYING. I've already seen about 8 clips on TV showing the Rose Garden speech that day, and Candy was right during the debate. Obama did use those words, Romney goddam LIED (again) -- and you are a coward for making that crap up. Get over it already!

Obama didn't help himself tonight.Voters are not happy and are simply looking for any reason to vote for his opponent, whoever that would've been.Everybody knows things are bad and this guy's had his four years. The economy has been slowing since his first year,so there is NO recovery. The stimulas is spent, interest rates are zero and Obama is out of ideas.

That's why the election is all about Romney.Obama has nothing to "sell" to the voters. And with Romney looking like a legitimate alternative he's likely going to be the next President. At least this Democrat will be voting for him. It's a good bet many others will join me.

Actually, Coco wasn't lying. Neither was Romney. Candy says that Romney just used the wrong word but that he was right about his main points regarding the Libya Embassy attack.

It was Obama who told "Four Pinocchio" whoppers right in front of America.

DMorgan You may have seen the reruns of the Rose Garden but you must have had your rose colored glasses on or the White House would not have sent the UN rep out on the Sunday show's to say it was the movie or Jay Carnie, the spokesman for the President, to say on several occasions it was the movie, not a terroist attack. Joy Behar on the View ask the President if it was a terrorist attack and he denied it again, saying it was the movie. on Letterman, the President said it was the movie. At the UN he spoke of the death of the men and never mentioned one time terrorist but he did 6 times sayit was the movie. They arrested the man who made the movie and took him into custody. He said Movie and Hillary said Movie at the funeral in the hanger. The president did say terrorist act in a sentence but was not referring to the action that was done to these men. It seems to me you are in denial and you are the one who is cowardly by not looking at all the facts and using your brain. The President is lying to save his own — — — and would throw anyone under the bus to get reelected and it is people who are profoundly misinformed like you who make it so easy for him to perpetrate a lie. That Sir, makes you an accomplice to his lie but then I expect you voted for him too. Saying it, but not using it in the context to which it should have pertained to means nothing. Use your brain, go back through all the past weeks. It's ok we all get facts mixed up sometimes.. I"m sure it will come to you....Try B12 it helps the memory.

Saber rattling war mongers all of you Republicans. Never did see a potential war you couldn't wait to throw your support to.War junkies and Defense spending Hawks. Would rather spend a Billion dollars on a Stealth Bomber- then support the hungry and poor.
Screw you. Go get a job as an apprentice on Trumps reality show.
That's about as close to reality as either one of you will ever get.

Q Back to Libya. Ambassador Rice says on Sunday that it was spontaneous, and then we hear from the State Department that there’s not enough information to make the determination. But you’re saying that there is no shift, right?

MR. CARNEY: No, I’m saying that based on information that we -- our initial information, and that includes all information -- we saw no evidence to back up claims by others that this was a preplanned or premeditated attack; that we saw evidence that it was sparked by the reaction to this video. And that is what we know thus far based on the evidence, concrete evidence -- not supposition -- concrete evidence that we have thus far. But there is a lot that is under investigation here, and as more facts come to light, if they change that assessment, we’ll make that clear. But there’s an active investigation for a reason -- so that we actually get the facts and don’t base our policy prescriptions on suppositions about what we think we know happened as opposed to what actually happened.

Q Would the administration still say that it was spontaneous?

MR. CARNEY: Based on the information that we have now, it was -- there was a reaction to the video -- there was protests in Cairo, then followed by protests elsewhere, including Benghazi, and that that was what led to the original unrest. The other factors here -- all factors -- but the other factors here, including participants in the unrest, participants in the violence, are under investigation. And the goal of that investigation is both to find out what happened and why, but also to track down and bring to justice those who killed four Americans. And we’re working with our Libyan counterparts to ensure that that happens, as the President committed it would.

Is that NOT the American dream to become succesfull and wealthy??? Yet these idiots can't stand it because it's not them!!!! BTW Obama is worth far more than the average voter will make in their natural lifetime yet it's ok that he's rolling in dough!?!?!? What on earth makes people think that Obama is an average working stiff like most of us???? Hell, Michelle blown more money in her short time in the white house on vacations, clothes, gifts for her buddies than many of us will earn in double, triple that time!!!! Where's Oprah been during this campaign??? She contributed a ton to the first election, now she has absolutely nothing to say about BO or Moochelle?!!?!?

It is a sad situation in America. The radical right wing anti-abortionists trying to impose their biblical fairy tale ideas on all of the people, not caring one bit about the economy or jobs.

If the dems win, I would make sure that every church that supported banning abortion (which is a political view) start being taxed. That would really help our economy.

Why do you, with all the groups of miscreants in this country, single out people who wish to prevent the deaths of the unborn? What does being pro-life have to do with working or the economy? I am prolife, work; have had a small successful business and pay taxes.

So, in your world, killing unborn babies is going to fix the economy. You are seriously messed up, in my opinion.

D.L: really? You would vote for a President who stood on stage and Lied to the American people again about when the President and this administration called the attack on Ambassador a spontaneous reaction to a YouTube video for 2 weeks before admitting it was a terrorist attack. Candy Crowley failed as a moderator when she lied about Obama telling the American people it was terrroist attack the very next day in the Rose Garden. It must ahve been a private conversation not meant for anyone else to hear. The President was called out by all major networks that he lied to us about when he called it a terrorist attack. The President said it was the next day that he called it a terrorist attack. If that is so President Obama how come the US Ambassador to the UN 5 days later called it a spontaneous reaction to a video and the President 2 weeks later at the UN called it a spontaneous reaction. Mr. President you will not get 4 more years to continue lying to us . You're fired.

Obama's stimulus package did work and my business showed benefit from it. I do overruns that the factories can't handle so they were doing well also. Unfortunately, it takes time for stumulus packages to work and the people couldn't wait . They voted in a bunch of Republicans who filibustered the Democratic bills and wouldn't pass a thing all in order to make Obama look bad. Despite that onslaught of pure political gargabe, Obama managed to stop the tide of job loses and we have had an increase of jobs. NO matter what the Repubs say, it is a fact. Vote in Democrats becasue we have a bunch of teaparty Republicans who are trying to stop this country from working all for politcal reasons. If you had watched the news, you know this is true simply because the Republicans came our themselves and stated the same facts that I have listed here. They did it on purpose to win the election. Get rid of these guys so Obama can get us going again. HE has done what he promised and we will rise in the next 4 years with him at the helm.

It wasn't the next day in the Rose Garden like he said tonight. If it was a terrorist attack Mr. President why did you say at the UN 2 weeks later it was a spontaneous reaction to a video. There is a saying Mr. President that goes something like this : You need to get your lies straight. The American people don't deserve your lack of leadership or integrity. Vote all these clowns out in November.

Norquist? Ryan? Ralph Reed? He spits and spats just like George W. and spends too much time on inane bits of information. What is his 7 point plan? IS that anything like the 999 plan? As an Independent, I am going to have to vote for Obama. We don't need another Puppet running this country.

Obama presidency has been one disaster after another…

                                                    • “Catch & Release”has put hundreds of thousands of illegal
alien criminals, many of them violent and extremely dangerous, right back into
                                                    our communities.

                                                    • “Fast & Furious”put American guns into the hands of
Mexican drug cartels, killing Agent Brian Terry and countless others on both
                                                    sides of the U.S./Mexico border.

                                                    • Lawsuits against Arizona, Alabama, Georgia and other U.S.
states have cost taxpayers millions of dollars, wasting precious resources that
could have been used to enforce the law and protect U.S. citizens.

                                                    • DREAM Act policies have jeopardized American jobs, especially
for young Americans, blue collar workers, and seniors, and put America’s
                                                    economic recovery at greater risk.

                                                    • At a time when 33 Million Americans are out of work and in a
year in which more than 40 million American families applied for some form of
government assistance, giving away jobs and forcing American taxpayers to foot
the bill for free health care and welfare for illegal aliens is bad policy,
                                                    plain and simple.

Obama must be either kidding or ignorant. How
more involved can Americans be? Considering that:

                                                    1. The majority of foreign troops fighting terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq
                                                    are Americans.

                                                    2. The US paid for approximately 25% of the United Nations budget.

                                                    3. The US paid for approximately 50% of the World Food Program to feed hungry
                                                    people all over the world.

                                                    4. The US spends billions of dollars in fighting AIDS/HIV in Africa. I can go
on and on... Obama needs to quit blaming this country for his perceived lack of
"involvement" from the US. It's great to play this blame game while
he was in Germany or France, but that game doesn't work well here at home.

A little change of gears here. I
found this passage from the story to be a little interesting:

'When pressed on why he seems
hesitant to express regret for his opposition of a troop surge in Iraq that
many now view as successful, Obama responded that a more fundamental question
                                                    should be asked of McCain.

"I have not heard yet somebody
ask John McCain whether his vote to go into Iraq was a mistake," he said.
"I haven't, during the entire week that we were having this
                                                    conversation."'

So Obama tries to deflect attention
from his now obviously incorrect assesment of the "surge" by
answering a question with a question. His refusal to admit that he was wrong

Stop USAGiveaway. Excellant points, you are very a caring, partriotic American.. The Obama-Lobotomized Left Liberals won't acknowledge that Obama is very UnAmerican, UnPatriotic and a total failure. He wouldn't respond to the Fast-Furious questions, just ignored them as he has since that scandal was found out, he wouldn't respond to the Libyan Terrorists attack questions and wouldn't explain, why he and his lab dog Administration all denied, lied for weeks, that it was just Muslim riots over a movie, they all knew for weeks it was a Terrorists attack and still denied, lied. Americans died there and in the Fast-Furious, gun running scandal, as did hundreds of Mexicans and Obama shows no concerns about that..........

Obama wouldn't take any responsibility for weeks and today, he just let Hillary fall on the sword, take the blame for the Libyan scandal and that made Obama him look more weaker, inept, nieve, not in command, not in charge of his lab dog, Administration and not a World Leader..... Left Liberals are all so brainwashed and UnAmerican, UnPatriotic as Obama, Hillary are..

                                                      frespech,

It was not a Depression. It was a Recession. There is a big difference. Don't insult people who either grew up during the Depression or who grew up in families who went through it with your misuse of terms.

The Recession began the last year of Bush's term but only after a Democrat-controlled Congress was warned by Bush that they needed to act fast or things were going to go south quickly. What did these Democrats in Congress do about it? Nothing! They in so many words told Bush to shut up and that things were fine! How wrong they were!

But, you can't blame Bush for that. He had been warning of impending disaster for years but Congress did nothing at that time to change the course of the economy. The last year before the recession began, the Dems failed to act quickly enough after telling Bush to "shut up and mind his own business." I blame the Dems for this because they were warned and yet did nothing.

Can anyone tell me if Romney ever answered the question on equal pay for women? Maybe I missed his answer. I heard him talk about putting more women to work, but nothing about equal pay. Typical Romney I guess. If you really want to know how deep the river is, ask him something about the sky. He is good at giving answers to questions not asked, he just have trouble answering the ones asked. Wow it is scary to even think that this guy wants to be president of the United States.

Muriel Lewis: Romney specifically said a better economy will lead to a better job for women. President Obama's point was that women need free birth control and more funding needs to go to Planned Parenthood. Don't exactly know how free birth control through Obamacare is going to improve the economy or lead to better jobs for women.

In fact, as I said before I both agree and disagree with certain points from both candidates, which is why I am unsure who to vote for. I like Romney's point about his priority being creating jobs. I'm just a little iffy about his plan for Pell Grant. What is his definition of "needy" to be eligible for Pell Grant?

In close elections like this one, a vote for anyone other than the lesser of two evils is a vote for the greater of two evils. The issue that is most important to America right now is the economy. Putting a businessman in office instead of a Constitutional Lawyer who does not really know the Constitution would be a plus in that department and a step in the right direction if the lesser of two evils can pull it off. But, if you want to give your vote to Obama, that is your choice. Whatever helps you sleep at night. How well will you sleep when you help give Obama the election, though?

I myself would love to flush every single Republican and Democrat out of office but in close elections like this it is just not possible nor feasible and any vote for a third party in a close election like this politically charged one is a wasted vote that gives support to the incumbent. Sad as I am to say it, I am going to have to lend my vote to the lesser of two evils who potentially can help fix the economy.

Mitt is such a weasel. I saw a photo-shopped picture of him and it was actually a rat looking like a weasel! Mitt just mentioned how birth control should not be the job/responsibility of the government or management and perhaps there is an idea behind that. Regrettably, many women are still under the control of their spouse. It is called abuse. It happens that after their youngest child is in grade school, they are impregnated once again. This binds them to the house, and under his control once again. Under Mitt's idea, this abuse is allowed to continue. Considering Ann had five children, shouldn't she want more freedom for other women? It was only after my sister's husband died that she had a tubal ligation and her last child (her seventh) was finally termed "the baby". She did not want to continue having children. Her husband did not want her to have any independence.

Romney is the wrong choice...on so many levels.

let's just be victimized because we're poor pitiful women. You know what, if you're big enough to be grown, big enough to have sex, then you're big enough to buy your own birth control. This mentality is sickening because it means we as women "Need" to have someone - once again - whether it be "Abusive" spouse or the flipping government provide for "Us". This is disgusting. It is not mine - or your fault - or anybody else's fault that your sister - or any other woman - permitted any man to make their decision for them.

What in the world kind of statements are these? "We" still need because we aren't competent enough to take care of ourselves. Well, maybe Romney - and Ann - are aware that women are capable to take care of themselves - and give "Us" more credit than some of the pitiable give themselves.

I have come to realize most of his actions are about getting elected and holding power. All of the issues you raise are president decisions based on if a decision would be politically helpful. Boca Raton, Fl: Romney said 47% of Americans are whiners and just standing around with their hand out. 2. Romney stated several times during the Primaries, "Self Deportation will occur if we make life tough on illegal aliens. Then Romney stated that the Arizona Law should become a National Law". 3. Tonight: Mitt Romney committed to women that they will have access to birth control pills when he is elected. I predict that the Romney Campaign will have a change to that statement within the next hour. Mitt Romney never created one single job. Mitt Romney was a Venture Capitalist, and his company, the one in which he currently owns 51% of the company's stock, is outsourcing 170 good paying US Jobs to China. Go visit Freeport, IL just west of Rockford, IL. Romney is a shill for the wealthy. If Romney eliminates Capital Gain Taxes, Mitt Romney will pay "ZERO TAXES". Reality check #1 reduces unwanted child births and more Tax dollars spent on supporting someone who can't support themselves let alone a child

#2 Gee maybe this is a Opertunity to get Control over some of these Wreckless Sex having people

These are just two examples of why you shouldn't Bitch about women getting taken care of and respectivly keep a lot of people from being Duped into child support and other things that can happen

As a Nation you want freedom of choice but at the same time look at the stupid choices we make and everything goes out of control

The fact still remains when the Countrys best Interest were supposedly being thought of Republicans and most if not all are Rich basicly destroyed anything that would keep this country going as a whole and now we stand divided and the Rich are angry because there little world is starting to crash down

But the party that let Bin Laden get away with 9/11 is acceptable to you?

IF you mean the Democrats, then what are you saying? Weren't you aware that Clinton had Bin Laden in his sights and let him go? Here is something from a lib online source for you to consider:

                                                          http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/14/hank-crumpton-cia-clinton-bin-laden_n_1514895.html

If Clinton had ordered the kill when he had the chance Bin Laden wouldn't have been there to plan 9/11. Let's place blame where blame is due.

Oblunder did NOT care what was going on!!! He did NOT take the call!!! He did NOT stick it out in DC and demand answers from his people!!! HE didn't stick around and get an investigation started!!! HE delegated his responsibilites to others so he could get on that damned plane and jet to Vegas to campaign and have a good time!!! OH NO BO, it's PAST TIME FOR YOU TO GO!!!!!!!The BO that showed for debates one and two is not the same guy from 2008!!!! He's still arrogant and obnoxious but you can see it written all over his face that he KNOWS he's screwed the pooch with the American people and he'll be lucky is he's victorious unlike last time when he was cock sure he'd win. He has explained how he was going to do it, mainly with an increased taxation base of people working and being able to pay taxes because they are working. Cutting loopholes was another prong in the plan. Have you visited Romney's website where he discusses this plan?

Honestly, have you been watching the debates and keeping abreast of the details? Did you catch Obama's repeat of his "four-pinocchios" whopper about Libya, assisted by the moderator who is supposed to stay out of the debate other than to moderate and not take sides??? Seriously, Obama can't win a debate without moderator help and having the last word?

I admit that I am and come from a long line of REAL Republicans. These Money Puppets that have been presenting themselves as Republicans are really capitalist. They have corrupted the idea of the word Republican and have made many of us ashamed to make our political party choice public knowledge. Governor Romney really disappointed many of us in the last two debates. There has to be a way Governor Romney can express his concerns, differences and agendas without the blatant disrespect he has shown towards the standing President of these United States of America. The world is watching. If Governor Romney can not show respect for our President, one can only imagine how he would treat one us average citizens that do not fully agree with his plan. In addition, Governor Romney needs to study what he has said and backed so he can stop contradicting himself and making him and his "intentions" less believable. Am I the only one who remembers his having to get rid of the illegal immigrants he had working at his home?

You mean the people who were working on his lawn? How many people actually check for Green Cards and citizenship papers for the migrants who cut peoples' lawns? Sometimes, you hire a landscaping company but you have no idea that the laborers are illegals hired by the company as scab labor. You suspect because many of them don't speak much English but you don't really know until you find out that the company was raided or see a raid happen on your front lawn. And, in fact, that turned out to be the case for company that did the landscaping for Romney. They were illegals but the company that hired them never checked for papers when they hired the laborers.

If you are thinking about home staff, that is another matter, but then I think you are talking about another politician.

These guys are good at talking. Look at their successes and decide. First get the real facts, be informed and make a choice. It is obvious by the mess we are in that votes count. Every leader has contributed to this mess. Taking a look at the successes of these men. Who do you think is truly capable of helping this country. This can not be about trivial issues that divide us as a nation. This next four years will be tough no matter who is elected. Abortion rights will not change, women's rights will not change. This is just silly rhetoric. This economy is not sustainable. We as a nation will have to make some tough choices and and grind this mess out. It is unfair to strap our future generations with such massive debt. It is time to stop looking for a scapegoat and start taking responsibility. This is our nation and we all contributed to this mess in one way or another. If we don't come together and do something we may well all be picking rice.
