I for one am ready for this lying season to be over. I am 63 and disabled. My SSD amount is more than the income qualifier for Medicaid and other assistance and not enough to pay for all of my meds and other household and personal items I need, so I just roll the dice on 2 of the meds I don't take. I have called so many organizations and churches but they say they are have no more to give.

The Romneys of the world say we are moochers, lazy, and on the dole. They do not realize that there is an entire segment of the population that is in NEED and circling the drain. Our political system has been warped by the power of a small, wealthy minority, which now owns the GOP. The Democrats must expose this truth to the American people, educating them why the Republicans fight so hard for tax breaks for the super wealthy , protect the huge drug companies, etc.

But the Supreme Court (now also bought and paid for) with its Citizens United ruling has all but guaranteed if the Democrats expose this truth, their funding will dry up and they will lose.

Isn't it funny how the "Carter mess" was caused by Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford with their Phase I, II, III. etc. that lead to an avalanche of inflation, soaring interest rates, and unemployment? It took Carter 4 years to stabilize the country's economy then because of the Iran Embassy fiasco, where a deal was make with Iran by G H W Bush to hold the hostages until after the election, Carter was defeated. Anyone doubting this either wasn't around then or refuse to remember because of political bias.

My point is the situation between Carter and Obama are very similar. Both took office right after the previous administrations screwed up the economy and fought with Republican obstructionist until the next election. The difference today is that the interest rates are as low as anytime in the last 52 years and the economy is showing 30 months of continuous growth with home prices starting to rise again with new home construction soon to follow. In other words the economy is picking up and Romney wants to take credit for that too but with his plan of a tax cut for the wealthy it will only make the economy really collapse. The next one will really be a great depression if his plan is implemented.

As a facilitator of ecumenical Christian studies for many years, I find it highly ironic that so many Christians who have previously spent decades labeling Mormons as non-Christians, even to the point of writing volumes of books and literature denouncing Mormonism as an evil cult, now cling to Mitt Romney the Mormon as their political saviour.

Regardless of what party you cheer for, we're all American voters. And what I absolutely can't get away from is Romney's only weapon for stimulating demand is his tax plan. So, okay, let's hear how the tax plan works... "Cut taxes 20% to stimulate the economy"... BUT remove unnamed loop holes with a promise, now, to not reduce high earners "share" and to, now, to reduce middle class taxes. Notice the careful construct of words? "Share" of taxes for the rich means that the tax cut IS across the board and DOES reduce taxes for the rich. And he and Ryan say that somehow the whole tax plan will be revenue neutral and is too difficult to explain.

Bush handed us a debt steam roller not just based on unfunded wars and a collapsed economy, but full of the unsupportable notion that tax cuts pay for themselves through revenue growth... against every logical notion... we're going to reduce our income from taxes when we have a $1 Trillion deficit?

What I can't get past is the huge risk this presents. IF the taxes do not stimulate growth well beyond projected growth, it will make a tough hole an impossible hole. If you pick the wrong "loop-holes" you destroy the mortgage market or charitable contributions or continue to put people farther down the health care hole... which is why the elimination of which loop-holes remains undefined.

Romney is used to a high risk, high reward mentality. I'm not. I'm not willing to let America take unbelievable risk. Yep, his plan MIGHT work, who knows for sure? But if the plan that has no support and has never been done before DOESN'T work? I can't imagine the consequences... and truthfully, neither can Romney.

Could we have a spending problem rather than a revenue problem? Or could it be we have a bit of both? Neither side will seriously talk about the necessary reductions to solve our debt crisis. Why is this, could it be they are poltroons who are unwilling to address tough issues?

The debt commission was charged with coming up with a report on how to lower the debt. The requirement was that 14 of the members approve the report. The report did not receive the required 14 votes (Paul Ryan was one that voted against it.) Some of the members put out their own reports, but their was no official finding because it did not pass the vote. That is why the President did not accept it. There was no official "finding".

I'm looking at this and am appalled by the disrespect that Mitt Romney has for this man. I have not heard any programmatic policy from Romney or any Republicans. Tell me what you are going to do not just for the middle class but tell me what you are going to do for those in urban America who have been suffering long before the recent economic downturn.

I watched the debate ...Flame-----he verbally promised to reduce rates 20% which is 4.8 trillion and to make it up with "removing loopholes and deductions". The only problem is if you took away all loopholes in the tax code you would only make up around 10% of it. Also, mega millionaires will not take a haircut. Mitt Romney's new tax plan strongly favors the wealthiest Americans, offering earners in the top 20 percent an average tax cut of more than $16,000 while raising taxes on the bottom 20 percent of earners, according to an analysis from a non-partisan Washington think tank.

The analysis out Thursday from the Tax Policy Center, a joint venture of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution think tanks, finds that under Romney's plan the bottom 20 percent would see their average federal tax rate increase $149, or 1.3 percent.

The top 20 percent, meanwhile, would see an average tax cut of $16,134 -- a 5.4 percent reduction in their tax rate. The top one percent of earners would see their average tax rate fall by nearly $150,000 per year, and the top 0.1 percent would see a reduction of more than $725,000.

Romney's original plan called for making the Bush-era tax cuts permanent, getting rid of the estate tax (now paid only by those with estates worth $5 million or more), getting rid of taxes on investment income for those making less than $200,000, and lowering the corporate tax rate ten points to 25 percent. Last week he said he would also cut marginal, individual income tax rates by 20 percent for everyone who pays taxes.

According to the Tax Policy Center, Romney's plan would add $900 billion to the deficit in 2015, when the changes would go into full effect. The group has also found that the 20 percent tax cut, combined with Romney's proposal to repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax, would add $3 trillion to the deficit over ten years - even if the Bush-era tax cuts and more recent tax cuts are extended. (That part of the analysis looked only at the impact of those two proposals, not Romney's tax plan overall.)

Barack Obama cancelled huge numbers of oil leases on Federal lands, for one very GOOD reason.

Big Oil companies have been pocketing the leases and not drilling on those lands for decades, just to keep the supply tight and prices high. Obama called them on it with their own Republican game - its OUR supply, we set the rules. New leases force drilling, which is up 10.6% even though leases have dropped by 14%.
