Some of you republicans really need to pay attention, you hear what you want and believe what you want. You talk of Obama's spending when facts show that Bush spent more, and you ignore that Romney has said he will increase military spending by $2 Trillion while cutting taxes. The same policy Bush used and the CBO has said that the Bush tax cuts and increased spending did not increase revenue as expected, it added to the debt. Romney want's to do the same thing expecting the debt to go down and yet he won't tell us how more revenue will be created. What happens when Romney decides to cut ALL tax deductions and you end up paying each year instead of getting a return or breaking even? That amounts to a tax raise.

In terms of job it will take a great deal of time and economic expansion to recover lost jobs assuming employees have re-tooled for new technology based manufacturing. Take for instance the manufacturing and assembly of Apple and other phone technologies. To bring it back to the US it will take a significant investment in technology assuming the work force in the US is ready to undertake a new production approach. The cell-phone industry is also stuck in China because they have the rare earth minerals we have not been able to substitute through research. For other types of products you the consumer is responsible how much job should be created in the US. For example; I do not buy any machinery unless I know it is Made in US. Do you?

Since the Obama administration there are some visible signs of recovery. Many 401, 403 related retirement (mostly middle class) investment has gained grounds. Stock market that plunged has gained ground. Job creation is tricky. Many US investors including middle class do not want to invest in a start-up businesses. That seriously hampers any possibility of new ventures from being created. Aside from political wrestling, job creation has its own drum beat that does not correlate to politics but policies. There are ways in which both parties can expand manufacturing in the US and it is called "closing tax credit" for investment made outside the US. That does not mean they can not get tax credit in other countries system.

The initiative to invest in US infrastructure is commendable to say the least. It has created more jobs and kept some cash flow in local communities. The drag has been the excess spending not on US army but the extraneous expense of re-building countries who do not appreciate good things. The project started in previous administration so I can hardly blame that expense on Obama. But then there may be underlying reason we need to spend around the world. It could be that we (the system) need to spread US currency in regions that has just slipped from the jaws of USSR.

The US economy does not operate in uni-directional path. Since our economics is vast and not necessarily dependent on one form of mining, manufacturing or research, three groups are responsible for job creation. The government, private sector investment and the public preparation for ever changing technology. To assume the government alone can change job situation is a misplaced expectation.

"Memorized the lines?" this isn't a quiz randy, this is what the politicians supposedly believe should be done to fix the problems facing this country. If Mitt can't come up with an honest answer off the top of his head then he has no business even running for the job.

I'm so tired of getting laid off!!!! In the last 5 years I have been a part of 4 lay offs! More manufacturing is moving overseas. Why can't Obama think more about the "American folks" who work so hard to take care of their own families and are too proud to depend on the government for handouts??? You should have been around metro-Detroit where I grew-up from 1981-83 when Reagan was in office, when metro-Detroit lost 250,000 jobs just in auto manufacturing, not including the jobs that were lost at suppliers and in the steel and trucking industries too. How hard is it to find a job in an urban area of 4 million people when there is 25% unemployment?

You should have been around Cleveland, OH during 1990-91 when the unemployment rate there reached 20%, or around the Denver-area when countless thousands of IT and Tech workers lost their jobs during the Tech Bubble too, in either case when it became virtually impossible to find another job once your job was gone! In fact, in my life, since 1973, I have been laid-off 19 times when employers went bankrupt out from under me, not just 4 times, which means that you still have a lot to learn!

You should have been back in Detroit as home prices there slid by 80% in the city and by 2/3rds in the suburbs during the time that GW was President if you wanted to witness the sheer hopelessness of Republican trickle-down economics.

Talking about jobs that have slipped-away overseas, how many free trade bills have been signed into law by a Democrat President in total, versus how many were signed into law by GW alone? (Two versus 30). Did you know that America lost 6 million manufacturing jobs overseas just during GW's time in the Oval Office alone?

Are you aware that Senate Republicans have four times now in the last 3 & 1/2 years voted in lockstep to filibuster Democrat-sponsored bills that would have penalized US companies wanting to move American jobs offshore, as well as to enact incentives for US companies that wanted to bring our jobs back home? Do you know that Senate Republicans have filibustered 241 bills in the last 3 & 1/2 years, which is six times the average of a 4-year Presidency, and that most of the bills that were killed were bills that would have created and/or strengthened American bottom 90% jobs?

And yet you blame President Obama and the Democrats for not doing enough for average American families, while entertaining the thought that by giving wealthy Americans even more money than they currently have, that somehow they will be careless-enough to let some of it trickle-down to you?

Wealthy Americans and the Republican Party are blackmailing the rest of America. They are telling us that either they get filthy rich, or nobody gets rich. They are telling us that a complete lack of banking regulation and oversight is necessary for them to make a killing, despite the fact that our entire current economic morass is the fault of a lack of banking regulation and oversight. They are telling us that the furtherance of their free trade goals will make us all rich, despite the fact that those 6 million American manufacturing jobs already lost to free trade would reduce our unemployment rate by half. They are telling us that record profits at our health insurance companies are necessary to maintain the "greatest medical community in the world", despite the fact that health care costs increased 8 times as fast as the inflation rate during GW's eight years in office.

Frankly, since most of Romney's advisers are GW's people, how will anything change for the better for the bottom 90% of us? If those same 15-20% annual health care cost increases were to continue for just another 8 years, nobody in the bottom 90% of us will be able to afford health insurance. If the slide in bottom 70% spending power that we have seen since Reagan was elected continues for another 8 years, the bottom 70% of Americans will be below the poverty level. Since Reagan was elected in 1980, Republicans have held the Oval Office for 20 of the 32 years since then.

Which US President owns the greatest increase in our national debt, when his trust fund borrowing is included? GW, who by himself incurred $6.8 trillion of debt starting from a budgetary surplus. Which US President has the greatest percentage increase in our national debt? Ronald Reagan, who nearly tripled our national debt all by himself, by cutting our top tax rates from 70% to 38% during a major recession almost as bad as our current economic morass.

Yes, I too think that Governor Christie is right, as after President Obama thoroughly dismantles Romney on national TV, the charade that we can cut social spending and taxes on the wealthy to the bone but not touch our defense budget will be all but over, and then we can get back to the business at hand, which is how to greatly improve our economy and a number of other matters in a manner fair to all Americans instead of heavily-weighted toward the consumption interests of so few of us.

I take two college classes per semester and I have a disability. I am not asking anyone for a handout. I have never received welfare and I have only collected five weeks of unemployment and 4 weeks of short term disability in my entire 36 years of working. I started work as a sophmore in high school and have worked ever since. So your little story that tries to paint every liberal is seriously flawed. Come up with something better, because I know for a fact there are many who are just like me, many, many, many who are just like myself working more than one job, trying to stay afloat and wondering why the American dream is out of reach. Why some seem to have it while others don't even have a chance. We are not asking for a handout. We are not asking for welfare. But I caution you. Good point about Germany. CNN's Fareed Zakaria had a great special Saturday night on this very subject. What Germany and the Netherlands have done is to invest in their youth and set up apprentice programs with government working along with business to teach the youth to be skilled labor so they can use their own citizens for the skilled labor business needs. It takes the business comminity buying into the apprentices programs and the government investing public money to do this. Romney and Ryan want to cut funding to education. I think this is a subject that should be better investigated in the US to solve our lack of skilled labor to fill the jobs that are now open. This could be a compromise between business and Government that is a win-win.

Let this be clear - I am a registered Democrate - I voted for our current sitting President - even though I was extremely upset with how he was nominated - aka lying about Hillary constantly during the primary.

There is a reason - historically at least - that no one with such little experience has been elected to the highest office in the land - our nation had been really good at vetting our future leader.

Unfortunatly, we did not do that with Obama. A one term Senetor that voted present most of the time is not a good record to understand what he was thinking. 2. OUR DEBT - 16 trillion - the promiss of Obama was to cut our debt in half at the end of his first 4 years in office. Are we all so ignorant and living in denial that this isn't even a concern?? Instead of reducing this he has almost doubled the debt - which deflates the value of the dollar and incoming inflation will bankrupt our country for good. "this makes me feel that I have been lied to and this is exactly what our current leader wants" -- Why I ask?? Why would this be the case?? So now I put together the push from this leadership to pass a bill to give up our hard earned money to foreign aid - namely the corrupt UN and second - the talk about a one world nation - scares the @!$%# out of me. I have been told by a friend in the Pentegon that China has 20 plus military bases in Mexico. WHy?? They own most of our debt but why?? Why would we let them??

3 - My household is going broke and both my wife and I have good jobs and have been living pay check to pay check since oil has doubled under Obama?? So we have had to tighten our budget and just get by - Why has our leader not even tried to pass a budget for this country?? Why does the former party mine of Dems not care?? 4 - Why have we decided as a nation to halt our domestic oil production and by what I would consider illegal - use Executive order to enforce higher standards on the coal industry and increase the permiting application process for new coal plants?? I did some research - Coal allows our home energy cost to be purchased on the main line - for 4 cents per killiwatt hour. - By shutting these plants down - our costs are going to skyrocket in the near future - which will hurt the very people he claims he cares about most - the working poor - I don't believe him. And one thing you all need to know as Americans (if you are American) is when a coal plant is replaced by a Green energy intiative - The green energy be it Solar or Wind "THEY ARE RE-EMBURSED $20 DOLLARS PER KILLIWATT HOUR!!! Most of you must not haqve watched the round table this morning . ALL of Obamas and the Dempoctratic advisors feel strongly that Romney will not only win the debate he will gain ground in the polls to the point that it will become a 2 point race after this first debate.

In addition things were pointed out about thew flaws in Obamas latest add with his 4 points. I for one would like to know how he will reduce any of the debt by simply taking what we have been spendin on the wars and rebuilding infastrucure. I also would like to know how he plans on cutting college tuition increrases in half without adding to the dbt spending. I would also like to know HOW he is going to create a million new jobs. His 4 yerar record does not indicate he is capble of doing that. He also claims he will reduce the dbt in half. again he told us that 4 years ago.

Most people will be tuning in to see a train wreck in the form of another huge Romney misstep or gaffe. The image of Romney as an out of touch dufuss is so ingrained in the public psyche already almost anything he does or says isn't taken seriously anymore. I think people under estimate Romney because of the hype from the liberal media. Obama himself have made a lot of gafs when he is not reading his lines along with Biden. I think people have given Obama a free pass card if only because the liberal media and hollywood have a love afair with him. In reality the country is going broke hence the credit downgrades. When we hit the greece wall I am willing to bet people will turn on Obama on a dime. Obamas has not submitted any real plan except to spend another trillion that his union buddies will benefit from. Last week the media reported that the intelligence community detected that Iran was shipping missles to Hugo Chavez. Those missle are capable of reaching well into the US according to those reports. Obamas plan is to do nothing. I think the debates will likely bring out things that Obama does not want to talk about. I also think people may rethink their votes when it is all done to give Romney the lead. I could be wrong but I doubt it. I have absolutely no doubt Obama is endagering this country financially and security wise.

Panic Mongering. This goes one step beyond simple fear mongering. With panic mongering, there is never a break from the fear. The idea is to terrify and terrorize the audience during every waking moment. From Muslims to swine flu to recession to homosexuals to immigrants to the rapture itself, the belief over at Fox seems to be that if your fight-or-flight reflexes aren't activated, you aren't alive. This of course raises the question: why terrorize your own audience? Because it is the fastest way to bypasses the rational brain. In other words, when people are afraid, they don't think rationally. And when they can't think rationally, they'll believe anything.

Fox has given up on R/R and is hedging its bets and becoming more liberal. Good for them. About time they came over to reality.

The debates will be the chance for republicans to see how their plan to ruin our economy under President Obama worked out. I say it's not as bad as the republicans want it so too bad for you TP/GOP.

Chad: Well we have one thing in common. In fact during the debates I had MSNBC on one TV and Fox on the other. I listened to the same debate and came away with a different take than both stations. But the fact is neither station has bragging rights on honesty. And in comparison I have to say MSNBC is the worst. They seem to make things up even more than Fox. I tend to apy attention to many things like actual events, unemployment reports each Thursday and first week of each month, ISM numbers, Housing Numbers, Government data like outflows and inflows. Bond sales, debt levels. To me all the other crap on either station is bogus. I can decide based on facts not on media that knows nothing about unbiased reporting. Again that would be both stations. Sometimes you get lucky and report an event but the take of those events is worthless. People need to start paying attention to real facts. Everyday the government puts out numbers on different areas so there is no reason to pay attention to the media. I could care less how rich Romney is or what he paid in taxes. In fact I wish him continued success like I wish for everyone. But people think its a sin to be rich because that is the way Obama has shaped his base to think. I think it should be congratulated that they have been succesfull. To most, the American dream is to be succesfull. Chad.. there is a difference between fear and common sense. The later is what a person uses to determine this country cannot handle its current debt. How long can anyone continue to create debt to pay debt before going broke? Thats not fear mongering its simple common sense and simple math. Subject: Its Romney hurting coal production not Obama

Mitt Romney has accused President Obama of starting a “War on Coal”, but it is the oil & gas industry that stands to benefit most from the Clean Air Act. Oil & gas giants; Exxon, the Koch Brothers, Oxbow Corp, Chesapeake Energy and Chevron, have donated nearly $2,285,000.00 to Romney’s campaign to date plus the nearly $300,000.00 Paul Ryan has garnered from them ^[1]. The oil & gas companies are delighted about restrictions on coal; it benefits them immensely. Romney is in the pocket of the oil & gas industry. Follow the money.

The CEO of natural-gas giant Chesapeake Energy, Aubrey McClendon, donated more than $25 million to the Sierra Club for its “Beyond Coal” campaign, which included lawsuits that produced both the mercury and greenhouse-gas rules (the Clean Air Act) that Romney says are the basis of Obama’s war on coal ^[2]. The coal-fired power plants say that, if they would be ordered to meet emission standards, they may need to convert to natural gas. Who stands to benefit?

The regulation proposes emissions targets of 1,000 pounds of CO2 per megawatt-hour of generation, and coal-fired power plants will need to use carbon capture technology to meet the standards, BUT it applies only to new, non-peaking natural gas & coal-fired power plants that might be built in the future, NOT to existing power plants or existing power plants that undertake upgrades that deem them a “new source” or to peaking gas-fired power generators^[3].

That’s key to understanding this regulation. There are no new coal-fired power plants in the pipeline that this rule might cover and no prospect of any unless natural gas prices hit at least $9.60 per million BTU on a sustained basis. Nearly all the gas-fired power plants that will be built will meet these standards without any additional costs. The regulation will impose negligible costs^[4]. Conservatives should be euphoric about these regulations and the environmentalists should be spitting mad.

The questions that you should be asking yourself are; if the gas & oil industry can push the coal industry out of business, what then will you be paying for the gas? Who is the real enemy of coal? Who would profit if the coal companies lose ground to oil & gas? Which politicians are squarely behind the oil & gas industry … which of them have been ‘legally bribed’ to look after the interests of the oil & gas industry?

The coal industry has shown employment growth over 9% in Pennsylvania since Obama took office. In 2008, there were an average of 7,829 employees working in the coal industry in Pennsylvania according to a fact check by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. In the first half of 2012, there was an average of 8,567 employees and in Ohio coal jobs have increased 10% under Mr. Obama and there is strong evidence that the coal-burning power plants being closed would have been shut down soon without the EPA regulations because of their age. Ed Good, a Steubenville utility worker at Sammis Coal Plant in Stratton says Republicans are misrepresenting Obama's position on coal. "We see these signs all the time without disclaimers, we see this perception that there's a war on coal, it's simply not true," he said. "There are more mining jobs right now than there has been in the last 14 years."^[5].

Romney's record suggests he favors regulation on the coal industry. In 2005, Romney lauded his state's establishment of carbon emission limits that he said, "will provide real and immediate progress in the battle to improve our environment." He hired environmental activist Douglas Foy to head four Massachusetts agencies; Transportation, Commonwealth Development, Housing and Environment & Energy. Foy served as negotiator on a regional climate-change initiative and helped draft regulations to put emissions caps in place for coal-fired power plants.

Foy stood at Romney’s side outside a coal-fired plant while Romney explained, "I will not create jobs or hold jobs that kill people, and that plant, that plant kills people."^[6]. Romney also backed a regional cap-and-trade system. In Dec. 7, 2005 press release, Romney announced, "These carbon emission limits will provide real and immediate progress in the battle to improve our environment," and touted Massachusetts as "the first and only state to set CO2 emissions limits on [coal-fired] power plants."^[7].

Romney talks of the need to keep energy jobs in America, but he opposes vehicle fuel efficiency standards that have resurrected the American auto industry and put thousands of Americans back to work. Romney opposes the wind production tax credit, an industry employing more than 75,000 Americans, while he supports subsidies of billions of dollars to the oil and gas industries. There is no doubt about Mitt Romney's allegiance to fossil fuel interests.^[8].

The bottom line is that the oil & gas industry stands to profit immensely from limiting coal production. Romney has already profited, and stands to profit even more, from the oil & gas industry’s ‘donations’ to him and his campaign. It is the oil & gas industry and their champion; Mitt Romney, who have declared war on coal. Obama is simply trying to keep the coal industry responsible to the American people who could be negatively impacted if their operations are left unchecked.

"Taliban Insurgency, we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban. Insurgency is the way they went about systematically understanding how to disrupt and change a person's entire processes. And these Taliban -- is an example of how you go about to change a person from their messaging to their operations to their frontline message. And we need to understand that Insurgency may be required when [dealing with] the other side"

Rep Pete Sessions went on to say:

"If they [democrats] do not give us those options or opportunities then we will then become Insurgency ... FACT 5: Also, at the January 20, 2009 meeting they plotted to suddenly stop supporting any Stimulus Legislation, even though, they all supported Bush/Cheney Stimulus legislation.

At the meeting, Rep Kevin McCarthy said,
"We've gotta challenge them on every single bill."
"Show united and unyielding opposition to the president's economic policies."

FACT 6: Remember, these same Republican members of Congress supported the very Bush/Cheney policies that caused America to teeter on the brink of the 2nd Great Depression and caused the 2007 US Economic Meltdown.

FACT 7: Last year, during the Debt Ceiling negotiations, Eric Cantor and Sen. Jon Kyl abruptly walked out of negotiations and refused to renew discussions with Democrats. As a result, America's credit rating was lowered which put a smile on Republican's faces.
FACT 8: Meanwhile, the 2009 Sabotage the U.S. Economy covert meeting members, Senators: Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl, Tom Coburn, John Ensign, and Bob Corker have:

- Filibustered more Bills (over 300) than any Congress combined in US History.
- Voted NO on every single piece of Legislation brought to the Floor including:

Why could any sane person believe a 500 billion a year tax cut going mostly to the rich would create job growth when Bush gave a 400 billion a year cut with 70% going to the rich and it led to a meltdown and massive debt be other than more of the same? If 2.5 trillion of targeted cuts for the rich over Bush's presidency ended with 12 months of job losses ending in almost 800,000 jobs a month being cut what will Romney's enhanced plan do?

@ Larry... Romneys plan does not mirror Bushs by far. Maybe you should read the plan a bit. Romney is actually hitting up many areas to get the economy flowing again. By the way I remember Reagan very well. I was unemployed when he took office because Carter was a total idiot. The fact is Obamas plan is to spend another trillion again. Most funds would end up in Union hands. That actually supports a very small part of the economy. In addition we just got another credit downgrade and more on the way if we do not get our affairs in order. That is a fact. The last trillion did little so what makes you think the next trillion which we will have to borrow will do any better.

At what point will people see we cannot borrow money to pay back loans. Its a shell game at best. We are very quickly becoming another Greece problem. China has warned us and they are our biggest owners of our debt. China now is experiencing economy issues so how long will they be able to borrow to us. Europe is in deep trouble so where will we get the money from. Developing counries? I also want to remind you of who controlled the law making bodies the last two years of Bush's term.I will also remind you that Bush dealt with more than Obama ever will and still mangaed 54 months of growth. Also Barney Frank blocked all attempts to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which contributed heavily to our recession and still is affecting housing.

Obama has not improved the real unemployement rate which depending on who is correct is between 14.7% and 22%. So why do we continue to load up our grandchildren with our debt. Its time we straighten out our job picture and debt. Obama has no experience at creating jobs and it shows. Companies do not want to hire until there is clarirty on what it will cost them. I would hire right now but I am not about to hire with the added cost from Obamacare and his other regulatory policies that are costing me thousand of dollars.

One last point I will make regarding Romneys plan. If you have read through it you know that the way the tax breaks happen would mean very little for the rich. In fact in most cases they would not see a real change in the amount they pay in while middle class would enjoy the majority. The reason being is Romney would remove the tax loop holes that the rich get to use right now. So even though their real rate goes down they no longer have the tax break loop holes they once had. By putting more money into the middle class hands you will put more money into the economy. On the flip side Obamacare will have a dozen new taxes hit the middle class starting in 2013. It is beyond me why the mainstream media has not reported on those taxes. Read the Helathcare act. It is extremely boring reading but is packed with a lot of new taxes that will get middle class. At some point in the very near future we have to reduce our debt and balance our budget. Why do people think it is Ok to load up debt on our grand children. Much like Bush's tax cut that adds 400 billion a year and will likely never end because republicans view cutting it as a tax hike which violates the Norquist pledge. Obama, unlike Bush funds Obamacare. Bush funded nothing merely put every program on the China tab.

You claim Romney's plan is nothing like Bush's yet Bush's main legacy was cutting taxes 400 billion a year with 70% going to the rich while Romney's plan is to cut 500 billion a year with 70% going to the rich. Both with the claim it was to stimulate job growth. You fail to answer why what failed under Bush would succeed under Romney. How could anyone that claims to be a fiscal conservative support such a policy when our debt is so high? You cite "the real unemployment" rate indicating the under employed and those making very low wages yet ignore those numbers when defending a republican president. It makes little sense to criticize a democratic president for supporting unions and then blame him for low wages. Isn't that what you want as a republican? It's certainly what Romney wants.

Romney's 59 point plan includes the desire to import 1,250,000 high tech workers claiming a shortage yet unemployment numbers indicate unemployment in those sectors are double what they were before the meltdown. Many see this as merely a desire by Romney to bring in cheap foreign workers for his rich corporate friends. I agree. He also supports removing caps on H1B visa's. Doesn't sound like Romney wants American workers getting good jobs he merely wants to flood America with low wage foreign workers so we'll work for less to compete.

Obama came of age when we had a peace time military and service was voluntary. Romney applied for and received 3 educational deferments and when he'd went as far as he could with that he spent 3 1/2 years in France as a Mormon missionary at the height of the Vietnam war even though he strongly supported the Vietnam war. Mormon leaders at the time declared missionary work during Vietnam was overused as 10 times the normal numbers applied for missionary work as during peace time. No way you can spin Obama and Romney's lack of service as being similar.

You criticize Obama for his stimulus plan and claims he's prepared to do another with no proof. Most Americans felt the bailout of middle America by Obama made more sense than Bush's bailout of the banks which Romney in 2008 criticized Bush for not enacting stimulus quicker. The CBO just recently compared the Ryan plan, the Ryan plan with Romney modifications, and Obama's plan... Obama's plan won hands-down. But I will admit, reducing the deficit with a collapsed economy and an opposition party bent on a total block... is a tough proposition.

2. US Debt

US Debt reflects ALL debt collectively owed by American citizens to Creditors (Coporate Structure). All US debt is at $16 trillion. The US Government has NO Constitutional authority to limit by enforcememnt any American citizens desire/obligation of debt to creditors. The GOP consistently lies by insinuating an Obama adminstration is responsible for US debt.
