The Federal Reserve’s actions Thursday to stimulate the economy emerged as a flashpoint in the 2012 election as Republicans condemned the Fed’s new wave of “quantitative easing” and cited it as evidence that President Barack Obama’s policies have failed.
CNBC's Steve Liesman joins Andrea Mitchell Reports to recap the meeting.
The Federal Reserve board announced Thursday afternoon that it would initiate an open-ended effort to prop up the economy – including about $40 billion in monthly purchases of mortgage-backed securities – until it was satisfied that employment and growth were sufficiently robust.
“The Federal Reserve’s announcement of a third round of quantitative easing is further confirmation that President Obama’s policies have not worked,” said Lanhee Chen, a senior policy adviser to Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
“After four years of stagnant growth, falling incomes, rising costs and persistently high unemployment, the American economy doesn’t need more artificial and ineffective measures. We should be creating wealth, not printing dollars.”

Jonathan Ernst / Reuters
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke delivers remarks about a significant shift in the direction of U.S. monetary policy at the Federal Reserve in Washington September 13, 2012.
Republicans simultaneously decried the Fed’s decision as helpful to Obama’s re-election effort, and labeled it a misguided action that would threaten inflation and a weaker dollar in the long-term.
“We have tried very, very hard ... to be nonpartisan and apolitical, to make our decisions entirely based on the economy,” Bernanke said at a press conference explaining “QE3,” the short-hand term for the third wave of quantitative easing, a process undertaken since the 2008 financial crisis to boost the economy.
“We just don't take those factors into account,” the Fed chairman added in response to a question about the political fallout from today’s announcement.
Bernanke was first named the chairman of the Federal Reserve board by President George W. Bush, and was re-nominated for a second term by Obama in 2010. Bernanke’s activist tenure in charge of the Fed, though, has invited criticism from liberals and conservatives alike; he was confirmed by the Senate for a second term by a vote of 70 to 30 – the narrowest margin ever for a Fed chair appointee.
Romney has long been on record as opposing another term for Bernanke when his current term ends in 2014. The nominee has also repeatedly opposed QE3, and his campaign on Thursday characterized the Fed’s actions as “yet another bailout.”
The Republican presidential nominee talks with NBC's David Gregory about his policy stances and his standing in the 2012 race.
"I don't think that easing monetary policy is going to make a significant difference in the job market right now," Romney, the former venture capital executive, said on NBC's Meet the Press this past Sunday. "I think what the nation needs is a change in fiscal policy, a different structure to our economic positions."
Obama, who was campaigning Thursday afternoon in Colorado before returning back to Washington, had not reacted publicly to the Fed’s announcement by mid-afternoon.
The news of the Fed’s unprecedented steps to boost the economy would seem, though, to put the precarious state of the economy squarely back into the center of the 2012 campaign. The past two days had detoured onto topics of foreign policy following an assault on a U.S. diplomatic mission that left the American ambassador to Libya and three others dead.
For Romney, a return to the economy as the issue du jour means a return to an issue of strength for his campaign. The former Massachusetts governor has staked much of his candidacy upon the idea that Obama’s stewardship of the economy was hopelessly flawed and that Romney’s private sector experience made him the best candidate to orchestrate a national turnaround.
To that end, most other Republicans joined Romney in criticizing the Fed.
"I'm disappointed in the Federal Reserve's actions today and truly believe Chairman Bernanke is beginning to do serious damage to the Fed as an institution," said Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, a prominent member of the Senate Banking Committee. "Open-ended purchases of mortgage-backed securities will politicize the Fed and add substantially to its balance sheet risks, but it will not help our economy's long-term growth prospects."
Even former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, weighed in.
"This is what happens when big-government centralized planners try to 'plan' our economy," she said. "President Obama is no doubt happy, though, that this latest sugar fix comes 53 days before the election."
But it was unclear, too, whether the minutiae of monetary policy would translate into a potent attack for Romney, especially as the Fed’s action continued to battle the ongoing diplomatic standoffs in Egypt, Yemen and Libya for headlines.

Phinephancy passed away last Tuesday. I knew her as Ashley. Rest in Peace Ashley. Your wit and good heart is sorely missed on this site.
In her honor, please leave this section void of all but condolences.
i always enjoyed her comments. my condolences to her family and friends.
She fought the good fight...a Phine person who will be missed... Sympathy to her family and friends as well.
I'm so sorry to hear that. My prayers go out to her family. I just thought about her today. Rest in peace Ashley.
This is not to say that you should not start a new section of rants below. She would enjoy that.
She was a positive voice and member of this community. She was truly one of the good guys. My sympathies to her family. She will be missed...
"This is not to say that you should not start a new section of rants below. She would enjoy that."
Indeed. It is the perfect tribute...
I am at a loss as to what to say here. We have lost a great person and a great friend here at First Read. Phine wasn't afraid to speak her mind about any issues. But she always did it in a way that was non-attacking and usually very witty. She will be sorely missed and I give my deepest condolences to her family and those who knew her.
My sincere condolences to Ashley's family and to her friends here. I always enjoyed our exchanges. I didn't know her well, but she was obviously a fine and courageous person and always a clear and reasoned voice amidst the hubbub. She will be sincerely and deeply missed.
Godspeed to Ashley's family.
Phine kept talking to us all, until quite recently.
The last thing I remember her writing was "when you are dying, you just want peace".
She wanted us all to stop fighting. And I wrote that we're fighting for millions of folks like Phine - who need checkups to catch illnesses early, diagnosis and treatment - so that we can all live in dignity no matter our age or circumstances.
With love and best wishes to you dear Phinephancy, and family.
I'm so sorry to hear this sad news - she was a bright spot on this board. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Rest in peace Phine/Ashley.
Sincere thoughts and prayers for your family...
Life is so tenuous and based on her positive posts when things were obviously grim, she remained positive!
bcwc -
I was afraid this had happened when we hadn't heard from her here in so long. Hope you'll convey our condolences to her family and thank them for sharing her with us, especially these past few months.
Phine, wherever you are, you inspired a lot of people here and your wit and insight will be greatly missed. I admired your grace under pressure and your refusal to give up your sense of humor.
Peace be with you. Peace, and of course, pink flamingoes.
Thank you for letting us know. Thoughts and prayers to her family. Rest in peace Phine Ashley.
She will indeed be missed by both sides. Her ability to sometimes cross the aisle and see the subject at hand for what it was was very refreshing. RIP Phine.
And to the family, find comfort in this time of loss.
My condolences to her family and friends. I always enjoyed her comments. Hers was the voice of Reason.
My sincerest condolences to her loved ones
Thank you for letting us know. She was always one to ask for peaceful comments and now may she rest in peace. Sweet Phine, lover of all things pink and mostly flamingos . . .
God bless her! I'll keep her in my prayers!
I was afraid we had lost her when we didn't hear from her for so long. My wish was that she would make it through the election. But, she'll have the best seat in the house on election night.
Please convey to her family that she was loved by those who read her words and enjoyed her wit - even as she knew she was losing her battle. She fought the good fight.
She will be sorely missed. Godspeed Phine!
Sorry to hear this. Phine was always a class act.
I always enjoyed her writings, good sense of humor and her quest to finding the common ground. My sincere sympathies to her loved ones.
Phine approached issues with grace and kind humor and seemed to approach her illness the same way. I always felt there was a gentle smile behind those flamingos. My deepest sympathy to her family and to her friends. She will be missed.
Thank you, Blackcat, for letting us know.
Rest in Peace Phine and Phancy Phree. May you be surrounded by Pink Flamingos with Nat King Cole and Johnny Matthias playing in the background. Condolences to her family.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was what my grandma would call "a good egg". I hope they have met up and are having a hearty discussion about politics; which Phine loved!
Thank you BC for sharing this info.
Phine,
You are now at peace.
I know you wanted to make it to election day.
I will be thinking of you as I go into the voting booth.
Your humor, passion and love of life was part of every one of your posts.

God and the angels will be much entertained by phine and her wit. God will bless her and her family. phine, we can't forget you, thank you for being my friend.
Thank you for sharing, 'cat, even though the news being shared is so sad. It seems like once you are on the way out of this world, it doesn't take long at all for the journey to become competed.
I am sorry to hear about the passing of Phinephancy. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Loosing a loved one is so difficult. Take one day at a time.
Prayers and wishes of comfort to her family and friends.
Phine was one of the funniest ladies I ever knew. She was who I wanted to be when I grew up.
Laters Babe
One of the few that could walk that tightrope, always looking for common ground. A real class act. She will be missed by all.
Katheryn Brandy
And I know she wanted to be you when she grew down. :-)
LOL Well, you made me laugh - that one's for Phine!
Finally! Something we can all agree 100% on! She would be proud of us. We miss you Phinephancy.
I am so sorry to hear this.
She fought hard and she fought well. My thoughts are with her family.
Rest in Peace, Phinephancy. Condolences to her family.
I would like to thank all of you for your kind words. I have sent this link to her family. Where ever Phine may be, may she have her toes in the sand and a tall Cosmopolitan in her hand.
Cheers babe!
Rest in Peace PHINEPHANCY. You were and still are one FINE American.
blackcatwhitecat - the flamingos in heaven are dancing!!!
Damn it.
Phine loved football and she and I had a lot of great conversations about the games. Especially the College games. She loved Tim Tebow. He was a home town boy and she knew his family. Oddly, I too, was just thinking about her last night. I will miss our Fall chats. Thanks for sharing this BCWC. Cancer sucks.
Rest in Peace, my friend.

Knock on the door and
nobody answers
Rap on the window call on the phone
Gone is the love gone is the laughter
That used to make this house a home
But if we believe in life ever after
Then we are never really alone
You watch over us from heaven above
God called another angel home
No life is ever in vain
As long as memories remain from all of the happy hours
And we’ll remember them all
No matter how many years go by that’s what friends are for
It was a pleasure to know you and we shouldn’t cry
But there was so much to tell you
And we couldn’t even say good-bye
Peace be with you and safe journey into that great beyond
Phine. The Hill Folk will miss you.
Phine,
We'll see you later.
Looking forward to it.

Tears In Heaven
Would you know my name, if I saw you in heaven?
Will it be the same, if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven
Would you hold my hand, if I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand, if I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven
Time can bring you down, time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart, have you begging please,
begging please......
Beyond the door, there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven
Would you know my name, if I saw you in heaven?
Will it be the same, if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven........

My respects and condolences to her surviving family members.
NewsVine now has one less voice.
My sympathy to her family who meant everything to her, especially her granddaughter, whom she spoke of often. She wanted to see her grow up, run a marathon and as her time grew short, she knew this would not happen. I hope her granddaughter will succeed in all the dreams Phine had for her.
A pink flamingo will always remind me of you. Rest well.
Rest in Peace, Phinephancy. Your presence here will be sorely missed.
So sorry to hear Phine had passed, I wish her peace, and her family comfort in their time of sorrow, we will miss Phine here, she was courageous and kind. I know she has her wings now, and I bet they are pink.
Phine, your voice was a calm island in our chaotic world.

My condolences to the family. Phine was often the only adult in the room. I'll miss her voice of reason.
imnotlost, you certianly are. Go blow yourself punk.
Your kind and gentle voice was surely needed and will be sorely missed.
Godspeed, Phine friend!
The First Read team sends its condolences to Phinephancy's friends and family.
Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, or independent, we value and appreciate everyone who comments on this site. And we are so sad for the loss of a great poster.
My respects and condolences to her surviving family members.
NewsVine now has one less voice.
So sad to hear this, her struggle with cancer makes us all aware there are more important things in life than arguing over politics. She had a wonderful spirit about her that virtually everyone could recognize. My thoughts are with her family today.
Glad to see the comments here today are almost totally positive ...
To the Lady Phine: You revealed yourself through your words. A very realistic revelation, indicative of the life of one who tries to fill the voids of things lacking. You did it well, lacking no effort toward the betterment of your fellows. You were one of the good ones. May your loved ones find comfort and strength through the memories and vestige of your time here. Shalom aleichem ma'am..................................................
Yeah, Obama came in with all the economics in fine shape and he ruined everything.
We lost a voice of reason. I will try to make something good of it and try to be more reasonable, Farewell.
Phine, You are just that. I will miss your posts. You always seemed to be looking for the good in everyone.
Heaven got another Angel on Tuesday. My thoughts and prayers to your family.
Your Posting Pal,

I wrote a litte something about Phine this evening ....

It's just been on my heart . . .
Rest in peace dear lady, what great menories of a couragous fighter she leaves her family. Your posts will be missed.
Sending thoughts and prayers to Phine/Ashley's family--her love for them came through her posts like a beacon. She will be missed here at First Read.
That is very sad news, I always enjoyed her post's and she did always reach across and have a kind word for everyone! She will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. RIP I will keep her in my prayers.
Phine/Ashley was a natural writer; her posts were short and pithy but always right on the mark. She truly tried to raise the level of civility in our political discourse. She had a unique spirit, and a discernable "voice," and I will miss her contributions. My thoughts are with her family.
My thoughts go out to her family and loved ones. I certainly enjoyed her posts. She had a great way of getting her points across.
RIP
The view from the cheap seats remains excellent.
DA NOID,
GOP/Koch does NOT want the economy to improve. That is why they fired 700,000 public sector workers, when other Presidents have been given the go ahead to hire MORE teachers and MORE government workers following a recession.
And they were recessions much milder than this one,
In President Obama's government, there are 35,000 LESS employees today than there were under Reagan. Fact.
GOP/Koch also refused to even DEBATE two million jobs under the President's Jobs Act. They filibustered it 3 times.
The federal workforce has indeed increased over the last 4 years. However, teachers have never been hired by a President.
DaNoid, I'd copied the same thing and was about to note when I saw yours. Please media!!!! Who cares what Palin thinks???? She's getting more disgusting as she rolls along and is now constantly tossing out sexual innuendos (Her comment yesterday about the President not having a big stick and to grow one???)
@Layton,
Heard Palin's "big stick" comment. Wonder what fun late-night hosts will have with that one?
GOP? Hello !!
You were the m o r o n s that crashed the entire US economy on such a massive scale.
GOP, you need to quit complaining because Obama hasn't be able to clean up your massive mess quick enough.
.
No matter how liberals spin it, Obama has been a complete and total failure on the economy. All we are hearing from Obama and Biden on the campaign trail is Osama is dead and GM is alive. Which is either all they could come up with, or all they feel they need to fool voters into four more years. If Obama does get re-elected, look at the mess he will inherit from himself.
Libs aren't spinning much these days, Rick. When it comes to Obama's indefensible failures in the economy, they simply try to change the subject with their tried and true tactic.....ugly, hateful attacks on conservatives. To wit, the pointless idiotic swipe at Palin above. It does nothing to mitigate Obama or sell the liberal position, but I suspect the vitriol makes the small-minded feel better.
So much for the truce
I have to agree about Palin, no one cares what she has to say. Why they give her air time is beyond me, and I'm a wing nut. She is an embarrassment to the party.
The economy is NOT recovering a the pace everyone wants - and we can put that squarely on the Republicans who have obstructed EVERYTHING the President proposed to jump start it!
Obama/Biden 2012
In honor of Phine, I will join in.....
Layton - DaNoid, I'd copied the same thing
That's the problem with Liberals. You folks can't have an original thought and you all get your talking points from the same place.
Obama said
lead·er·ship
/ˈlidərˌʃɪp/ Show Spelled[lee-der-ship] Show IPA
noun
1.
the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group: He managed to maintain his leadership of the party despite heavy opposition. Synonyms: administration, management, directorship, control, governorship, stewardship, hegemony.
2.
ability to lead: As early as sixth grade she displayed remarkable leadership potential. Synonyms: authoritativeness, influence, command, effectiveness; sway, clout.
3.
an act or instance of leading; guidance; direction: They prospered under his strong leadership.
4.
the leaders of a group: The union leadership agreed to arbitrate.
Rick that's all they need to come up with!
Etch-A-Stench can't even come up with a plan, except, some fabled 59 point something, or other, that nobody knows details about because they won't come out with it!
You wanna trust that, go ahead, with your blind a$$ self.
The economy may be stagnant, but not in recession, not losing thousands of jobs a month, like the previous president created.
WCA - In honor of Phine I'll let that slide .... but noting your comment above, I'm a HUGE football fan! Glad to see you are as well!
This is so easily checked I don't know why you bother to lie!
The BLS keeps these numbers. Check it out yourself!

Stupid liars!
As did the bank bailout, the stimulus, all the legislation to help those that lost jobs, the auto bailout, the AIG bailout, etc., etc., etc.
The point is....
YES IT IS!!!! WHERE THE F@#K HAVE YOU BEEN!?!?!?! AND YOU SCREWED IT UP SO BAD IT MAY WELL TAKE ANOTHER DACADE... YOU FOOLS!!!!!!
Lol LMarcT
I wrecked the car, but it's your fault that the fenders bent.
What Logic is the GOP using here?
Thanks to all the conservative commentors/ Romney supporters for posting condolences for Phine. You have elevated yourselves immensely in my esteem.
Phine reminded us that we are one.
Now let's all commit to getting out there and fighting to re-elect President Obama. In honor of Phine's courageous struggle against a deadly foe, it's the least we can do to honor her memory.
VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN
No doubt Obama inherited a weakened economy. We can debate how it got there for hours and won't come to a consensus.
But Obama ran in 2008 as a person who could fix this economy and by every measurement has failed. Four years of failure.
Higher unemployment.
Stagnant economy.
1 in 7 now on Food Stamps.
1 in 6 in Poverty.
Women's wage gap increased.
Proportionally more unemployment for minorities.
Lowest labor participation rate in 40 years.
Highest percent unemployed 6 months or more since the Great Depression.
Median Income has decreased nearly 10%
Sorry, that sounds like and clearly is failure. And THEN to STILL try to blame someone else shows Obama is not a leader but a complainer. You know when you work with people at your office and they don't do their job, always complain, and always blame someone else is a hindrence to your office. Same thing here. Obama is a hindrence. You would never see a CEO talk about how they can fix the company and then after 4 years STILL blame the previous CEO? That is not a leader. That is not a professional.
If Obama had said "I have made some mistakes over the last four years and realize some things I could do differently like .........." then I might have a little respect for him. But how in the world can you support someone who has FAILED the first four years and promises to do the SAME THING for the next four years and expect a different result?
This president is a failure. I never thought I would see a president worse than Jimmy Carter - but now I have: Obama has assumed that title...............
This is worth repeating:

The economy is NOT recovering a the pace everyone wants - and we can put that squarely on the Republicans who have obstructed EVERYTHING the President proposed to jump start it!
Obama/Biden 2012
No, it is not worth repeating. It is merely liberals playing the blame game because Obama has not demonstrated the leadership or the knowledge to get our economy moving forward again.
The "Stimulus" passed and it didn't work. The "shovel-ready" jobs were not shovel-ready.
Then we get the "next Stimulus" by Bernanke ... politically contrived to try and prop up Obama's weak economy right before the elections !!! This is the FIRST thing in Obama's Presidency that is truly transparent ................BECAUSE WE CAN SEE RIGHT THROUGH IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, Duh! Why else would the feds take this action except to try to impose a remedy on a weak economy? The idiots at the tabloid known as nbc have demonstrated a firm grasp on the obvious, but reality still eludes them.
Obviously for Bernanke and Obama, the reality that their past actions didn't work and only made things worse eludes them as well, because why else would they attempt the same thing and hope for a different result?
Oh, I know why, this time they are really ratcheting up the money printing to the tune of some 40 billion a month, every month for the foreseeable future. This insanity is too absurd for even Obama, he must be doing this on purpose.
I know Sarah Palin is an easy target, but I actually feel bad for her because they don't go after anyone like they do her. I also believe that no woman will ever be president or vice president and my "opinion" is that the reason for that is because of women. Women do not like other women and do not want them to succeed. Please do not be offended. I love women to death, but it seems like they all hate each other. That's why no party who has a woman on the pres/vice-pres ticket will win. I know there are female senators, congress etc, but for the highest offices, no way. All it takes are a few women to hate her makeup or hair, and then she's done.
As a final note to women, I love you all, I really do. Except those of you who have previously tried to kill me. You know who you are.
Spellchecker be careful as that is illegal in many states and may be what leads to your next quote.
Could be related............just saying. At least those that attempted to kill you were not results oriented as they seem to have failed.
I love the way liberals say our economy is terrible because Obama DIDN'T get everything he wanted. Sorry, the economy is terrible because Obama DID get everything he wanted.
gtouch
Spellchecker be careful as that is illegal in many states and may be what leads to your next quote.
Could be related............just saying. At least those that attempted to kill you were not results oriented as they seem to have failed.
---------- Well, that's looking on the positive side of things. I am sure "burn in hell" was just a term of endearment. Obviously a Hallmark favorite.
"They" go after Sarah Palin because she is a condescending, incompetent, self-serving bimbo who has set the cause of women in politics back a hundred years. Just because someone wears a skirt does not make her a role model for women. Palin makes herself an easy target every time she opens her mouth.
I don't feel the tiniest bit bad for Palin...it's her kids I feel sorry for.
I assume you are a man, since you can't comprehend the sisterhood women share. We support women who value and perform worthwhile work, and we don't much care what race they are or what religion they are, or even what party they belong to. Women are practical and results-oriented. We are sick of screeching beeyotches like Palin, Bachmann, and Coulter who are nothing more than useless shills for the GOP. They give women a bad name.
myspellcheckerisbroken
I don't know that there won't be a woman president, up until yesterday I would have bet it would be Hillary Clinton in 2016, but that seems to be over now.
You are right, women are mean to each other. It starts in grade school and never ends. It's sad.
Your comment really cracked me up. Sorry you have such a hard time with the ladies.
On a positive note...the DOW closed up 200 points and that's VERY good news for my 401K! I know what works well for some doesn't for others, but I'm definitely better off than I was four years ago.
As long as you understand how printing more money creates an asset bubble then enjoy your gains.
How will your 401k (and all your dollars) look when (hyper)inflation hits? Then you'll be blaming the GOP...
Ursula votes for Libbies......what do you expect?
Adrian Hahrvia Facebook
Unless you are a rereg, you did not know Phinephancy. Your post of "-1 vote for Obama" was vile.
Maybe.....but it was true!
I'll break it down even further. INFLATION! liberals please, there aint no such thing as a free lunch. Q3 stimulus is a weak indicator. so much for summer recovery part 8, more like a horror story
BCWC - agree completely.
Let's see, under Bush, my 401K lost about 40% of its value. Under Obama it's recovered those losses and made some additional gains, so you're damn right I vote for "Libbies!"
Ursula - You are confusing the loss that your 401k took as a result of Clinton's guy, Janet Reno, going after MicroSoft in 2000, with what happened during Bush's term.
There's actually some irony in the Obama apologists above still claiming it is all Bush's fault. In three years, Dems will be blaming Romney for the high inflation, and Republicans will be blaming Obama. The irony is that in this case it actually will be Obama's fault. The damage was already done with Obama's unfunded trillion-dollar "stimulus" and "Quantitative Easement" (printing money) to cover it. Because of those, inflation became inevitable. You can hold it down in the short term, but it will eventually manifest.
People like Laker Steve, Republicon troll puke that you are, know no bounds to decency and respect for the dead.
You are not funny, or clever, intelligent, or human in my book. Nothing but a miserable troll.
Kannin don't think you chess maneuvering psychology, or Jedi mind tricks work. We don't play the blame game, as effective as, a Republicon.
The real irony is your assessment of Obama's current presidency to the factual presidency of Bush.
FAIL!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
maybe not as effective but you definitely play it often. way too often. But tell me why we can't blame Obama for anything during his presidency? You would think the office of the Presidnecy has been vacant the last 4 years.
bahrrt - "Jedi mind tricks" ???
No mind tricks. It is well-known that increasing the number of dollars in circulation decreases the buying power of each dollar. That is called "inflation."
Okay so how do you stimulate the economy then? Cutting and slashing to bare function bones? Like Europe.
Austerity has proven not to work. We have had that proven. So, with trickle down economics.
The only true path to recovery is the exact plan this POTUS has and you are either to blind, or stubborn to admit it.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
NO GOP, this is a direct result of your policies and do nothing congress. We remember that Republicans had control of both houses of congress from 1994-2009 and eight of those years the White House. Everything this nation is experiencing is a direct result of your incompetence. I just hope the American people remember and also remember why Democrats held the reigns of government for over 40 years, the greatest generation knew better they kept the Senate and House in Democratic hands for a reason.
OBAMA 2012 / DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS 2012
Yes Repubs -- the economy isn't strong. But -- what ANSWERS do you have to fix it? Cutting taxes for the richest of the rich and more deregulation was the CAUSE of this downturn.
I can't tell if the Cons are just stupid or angry about Willard's sinking prospects. Get used to Obama, he's here for 4 more.
Ursula: The economy is being artificially propped up. Let's be clear: Only the private sector can create economic growth. Only the private sector can create jobs. And the private sector is doing neither. That your 401k is being propped up on "printed" money is unsustainable. That this economy is being propped up with new debt is unsustainable.
This economy is on the verge of collapse - and to do the same thing we have been doing the last four years will simply accelerate the collapse. There is only one way to fix the economy and that is by giving confidence to the private sector and that is not being done.
1) Threats of higher taxes on businesses and investors result in less business and less investment. We see that now.
2) Added regulations and mandates (ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank, etc.) will reduce business activity and investment. We see that now.
What economic indicators have told us the last four years:
Higher unemployment.
Stagnant economy.
1 in 7 now on Food Stamps.
1 in 6 in Poverty.
Women's wage gap increased.
Proportionally more unemployment for minorities.
Lowest labor participation rate in 40 years.
Highest percent unemployed 6 months or more since the Great Depression.
Median Income has decreased nearly 10%
There is no other determination other than this president has failed. And not just partly failed. Not "he missed by a little bit". Complete failure. To stay on this path will be the final nail in the coffin of our once great country. There is only ONE way to fix the economy and that is fix the private sector confidence.
Instead of threatening to PENALIZE the private sector Obama needs to (theoretically speaking) put his arm around the shoulder of businesses and say "what can I do to help you. What can we as a country do to make your life easier". Do that, and follow through with their desires, and this country will see economic growth like you haven't seen in 30 years. Obama won't do that. It would require HELPING businesses - and Obama can't do that. It is against his teachings and philosophies (that is not MY opinion - he has said things like "at some point you have made enough money", "millionaires and billionaires", "we need to spread the wealth around", and who can forget "if you have a business - you didn't build that").
And Obama's disdain for wealth, success, and business clearly shows in our current economic condition. But Romney WILL put his arm around the shoulder of business and say "what can we as a country do to help you" and will follow through on that. Where Obama has had four years and the economy is getting worse (and Obama blames everybody except for the Loch Ness Monster for his failure) within 12 months of a Romney administration you will see 4% to 6% economic growth simply by caring about the people, businesses, and the private sector.
I also was thinking about her this morning. This is indeed sad news. Ashley/Phine you fought so hard and now you are at rest. I will miss your wisdom and insight, as will many. My thoughts and prayers to your family.
...and now goodnight dear Ashley--"fairs of angels sing thee to thy rest."
I can't wait until I get to watch Americans try to deal with this monetary expansion once it gains velocity in the markets. The mass dysentery will be especially entertaining!
* MORE YEARS! GOOOOOBAMA!! ..... Because Americans don't deserve a country :)
According to ben, there is no velocity. You see, 4 dollar gas. Well, that is not core inflation!
...actually, he is doing the right thing now....but initially when they wiped out housing and gave it to the banks- no one could buy anything. The middle class is not going anywhere under this banker until their debt levels go down. The corps are sitting on tons of cash and their are no buyers for their goods.
Also, neither party is gonna deal with this issue. Actually, a fiscal cliff sounds good right about now because they would have to actually deal with the problems in america.
Actually, after obama and his homie in the fed doubled the amount of money in circulation... nobody on planet earth will EVER be able to deal with it. AREN'T YOU PROUD OF YOUR COUNTRY??? ...I mean OBAMA is PRESIDENT!!!
I say let's give him * more years to ruin the economy completely... because American children don't deserve a country with food in it.
Jolly Joker is austerity your answer to America's problems? Ask most of Europe how that's going.
bahrrt.... Why don't you ask europe how they got to the point where they needed austerity???
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because we need liberals to create even more problems that they can complain about the solutions for later!
Civil Whaaa? I don't have to ask Europe anything when in our own country we have had Republicon administrations rack up the debt and deficits from putting wars, Medicare, and tax cuts on the American credit card, you dope!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
REALLY???
So tell me, boy wonder, how republicans are the problem when it was during the obama administration that our national debt doubled from when bush left office and our money supply quadrupled from when bush left office??
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because when American adults are lacking in basic arithemtic skills, you KNOW we need more teachers!
fahrrt does not understand economics, $16trillion in national debt (and rising) or taxes. He understands the blame game because Obama is incompetent and because he is an Obama apologist.
Repealing Obamacare will do more to jump-start U.S. productivity and growth than any kind of currency manipulation by Bernanke. Of course, the real goalbehind this move is to look good for awhile and help get Obama re-elected.
The GOP can blame all they want, but the reality is, the reason the FED had to act is because the GOP is preventing any help to the economy.
How is that in reality? By not spending another trillion to prop things up for government? I mean, really get a clue. You wipe out 7 trillion in housing wealth and instead of dealing with the issue that caused the major down turn - Housing.... -the solution being to bail the homeowners who were ponzied on an indivdual level so we were all made whole....
you spend all your time on getting 30 million more customers to help out the insurance industry and hospitals via obama care. I mean, I have never seen such bunch of idiots wanting to give this loser even the time of day.
The only reason you give obama your vote is because the other guy is even a bigger corporate crony. Neither side wants to deal with housing. When people have equity, they will start buying stuff and america will move. Not a minute sooner.
Wrong Repulicants: The only reason the Fed had to act is due to obama being to in-experienced, in-competent, narcissist, thin skinned, and too busy filling in his fantasy football picks this morning before he goes to his golf game this afternoon.
Thing is, even if you gave obama everything he wanted and went over the fiscal cliff; it wouldn't help things. That's the point....The housing crisis wiped out almost 20 years of peoples wealth. Prices dropped 25%. From a median of roughly 220 k per house to 160k....Your gonna fix it by giving folks a tax break of a 1000 dollars or putting more money into school teacher... I mean really.. .This is such a dumb conversation. Romney, he has his head up his proverbial behind also. Both sides are incompetent. I mean, they both say "Yes, I am going to create jobs trust me" Give me 4 years but I aint gonna tell you how and so long as 25% of america's houses are under water its all going to be better just because I wave my hands"
Yeah and those 2 years you had 100% control of Washington a lot got accomplished, right? (2/3 of Washington for the last 6 years)
Like 5 trillion more debt
Credit rating decline
Skyrocket unemployment to the tune of 23 million people
It's about time the GOP stepped in and put an end to the Libs' idiotic madness. Even Reid didn't sign half the crap they proposed!!
Laker Steve - the lie - yet again. President Obama did NOT have a filibuster proof Congress for 2 years - only 44 days. And, after that the Republicans filibustered his every effort - more than ever before in our country's history.
Keep posting the lie - it's all you've got!
Obama/Biden 2012
They are printing money and dumping it on the market. Liberals should be screaming bloody murder as all the FED and Obama are basically doing is " Trickle Down Economics "....Throwing big bags of borrrowed $ at the problem....
Typical liberals, always blaming someone else. This from the party that elects Harry Reid to run the Senate, and in four years has yet to produce a budget. Or the party that elects Nancy Pelosi to run the House, and she tells us we need to pass the healthcare bill so everyone can find out what is in it. Then we have Obama who has completely failed on the economy, but blames only the Republicans rather then becoming an actual leader. All the while Obama is skipping over half the intelligence briefings for golf, vacations, campaigning, and now the Middle East is in chaos. Yeah, liberals really have a handle on things, and no shortage of blame. Blame, excuses, and division is all liberals offer, and it is working so well for the country.
Republicats,
How correct you are
I find it extremely funny how all the right wing radio talk shows and tv shows have become so good at lying and misrepresenting truths, that all the low information people on the right buy into all of it..Like the scare crow said, "if I only had a brain"..
Rick -
I think you summed up this administration very well - especially as Obama should be in DC handling the situation instead of galivanting about the country.
Laker Steve is at it again.
There are people breathing still because of "Obamacare" that your insensitive, disconnected, and skewed views fail to see. That was what he spent his first two years fight for that pukes like you want to filibuster because you simply don't like him.
I feel sorry for you.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
bahrrt... How is anybody breathing because of "obamacare" when "obamacare" hasn't even started yet???
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because when an American that purports to be an adult doesn't know the difference between 2012 and 2013, maybe we DO need more teachers!
Civil.....just stop you are embarrassing yourself something fierce.
There are some parts of the AHA enacted, and that bunch of incoherent nonsense after *MORE YEARS...* really doesn't deserve a dignified response.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
WOW!!! Your intelligence is blinding!!!
You do realize that you just dignified * with a response... right???
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because your child doesn't need all of that food on their plate... some of THAT wealth should be diverted to pay for free condoms for liberals!
Romney/Ryan: when lies are all you have left.
VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN
Since the GOPers in Congress refuse to do anything, refuse to pass legislation to stimulate the economy because their goal is to defeat President Obama, the Fed is forced to step up to the plate.
What stimulus would that be? Rebuild the rebuilt road from the first stimulus package.. Those shovel ready ones...or give folks on foodstamps more money so they can spend it at wallmart so the chinese can feel better?
Isn't that what your presenting?
Can you tell me one thing they are sitting on that would create any significant job growth without the government spending money they don't have? Just curious as last I knew, the environment for business right now stinks. Too much uncertainty.
Of course there are always those 4.5million jobs "created" that have left us in the hole by 4.3million from the high point in January of 2008.
The only thing they can do to stimulate (repeal some of the restrictions they enacted) will not be agreed to by the Democrats. It would entail "dirty water" and smoky skies and all that other stuff. Although, those are just Dem talking points, I am sure there are other little tidbits they could throw out there to show some kind of good faith.
Jody - Good point. I suspect we'll be hearing a lot more in the coming weeks about the "stellar" voting record of the GOPers. If not, the major problem with the slow recovery will fly completely under the radar.
Yeah and those 2 years you had 100% control of Washington a lot got accomplished, right?
Like 5 trillion more debt
Credit rating decline
Skyrocket unemployment to the tune of 23 million people
It's about time the GOP stepped in and put an end to the Libs' idiotic madness. Even Reid didn't sign half the crap they proposed!!
JODY,IOWA!!!!
Isn't it FABULOUS how the fed stepped up to OUR plates, took half of the food off of it, dumped water on the rest to make it look like a full plate... and then gave the food that he stole off of our plate to his european bankster friends to eat???
WOOOHOOOO!!!! They sure stepped up to our plates alright... and stole half of our food!!!
I can't wait to watch your children have to pay the bill for all of the stolen food :)
Laker Steve - we've explained this to you over and over. President Obama DID NOT have two years of a filibuster proof Congress - and his proposals have been filibusted more than any time in history. He had a scant 44 days of a filibuster proof Congress.
Don't worry - I know you'll continue to post your lie over and over again!
Obama/Biden 2012
Hey SeekingSanity.....
Who cares? Your children are screwed.... and will be seeking food soon. :)
Well stated Jody, not only do they refuse to pass any legislation to help this great country. They flat out refuse to go to work. Talk about doing nothing but campaigning!
I know Layton... all this campaigning has to stop.... They should start practicing looking for food, they'll need the skills.
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOOBAMA! ...because having enough money to feed your children is overrated anyway!
CivilWarrior ... were you on a three month time out???????
Yes I WAS... I'm so proud of my detention slips!
I'm behaving now though. Using acceptable words to make liberals look like the absolutely, undenyably, ridiculous braindead zombies that they are.
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOOBAMA! ...because dysentery as a result of starvation is better for America's children than being overweight!
Well, reading your reply to me and to Seeking as well, I'd suggest you enjoy your time ... I can see a hiatus in your future . . . .
Oh, Ummmmm...... You got me there!! I can see how setting up 20 other accounts would be difficult for some people.
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOOBAMA! ...because when an American is incapable of comprehending that setting up multiple accounts on a pathetic propaganda site is a simple and easy task, maybe we really DO need more teachers!
I am well aware it's an easy task given what I do for a living. My question to you is why on earth do you want to?
You do something for a living? Heh... I'm amused.
You're pretty harmless, Civil .... have fun doing what you do to have fun be it one account or 20.
Repbulicon pundits here want to pretend that Obama invented spending, when in fact, it is the failed economic policies, since Regan and every other Republicon administration that have far outspent Democratic administrations nearly 2 to 1.
Oh, what was it that Clinton said, oh yeah, "Arithmetic"!
Look it up for yourselves you pathetic foolish trolls.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because everything you like to do for fun should be just as illegal as what I like to do for fun!
We don't need the GOP to tell us this news....
It's obvious to anyone with a brain that Obama has no freaking clue!!!
Get your ass back to community organizing and selling senate seats with your buddy Blago in Chicago jackass!!!
You mean stealing our wealth and redistributing it globally and obliterating our global standing completely wasn't done on purpose??
I say we elect him again to see what this dude can REALLY do to make our children starve!!
* MORE YEARS! GOOOOBAMA!!! ...because Americas children are not worthy of food.
typical republican hypocrisy. Out of one side of their mouth they complain that the economic recovery is weak and out of the other side of their mouth they obstruct any stimulus. The republicans are the only people in the World who don't think it is a good idea to stimulate the economy after they wrecked the economy.
G-9 -
Typical liberal hypocrisy. Out of one side of your mouth you blame the repblicans, and out of the other you champion an already proven to fail plan that is (again) hideously expensive while we (still) dont have any money.
The democrats are the only people in the World who think that insanity is a good thing, after having been smacked around in the last election cycle for exactly this behavior.
notalkingpoints--you seem to forget that the reason the last stimulus didn't work was because the republicans gutted it and took out all the parts that would have actually created jobs. Now 'trickle down' is an economic policy that has been proven not to work.
Sueb -
So your argument was that the first stimulus did not drive us deeply enough into debt? Or was it that those jobs really were shovel ready?
Or are you reversing the liberal mantra that the stimulus - the first one, that is - actually worked? After all, the republicans "gutted it" into being only a trillion dollar waste of money, so how then could it have worked - the parts that "would have actually created jobs" were taken out...
Just goes to show you don't know ANYTHING but how to parrot what the libbies and Soros tell you to say. As Abe once said, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." Please try and follow that, it was and is sage advise.
Sueb1, The correct economic policy was to sue the banks for damages related to housing pump and dump and distribute it back to the owners who through no fault of their own were damaged by the ponzi. Every american should have gotten 10-15% per home that owned or bought during thoses years. This would have taught the bankers a equitable lesson and gave the middle class a ton of cash to turn around everything. This idea of tax cuts or spending money on roads and bridges is just a joke. that money goes to the insiders. The people that work in america were hosed and got nothing. If you owned a house, maybe you would understand the concept. Houses in 2008 prices dropped to 1991 levels wiping out trillions. A $500 check via tax break is not going to cover 50k or more in average losses per home owner.
I guess you guys know best, the heck with all those economists who disagree with you.
Hey Jolly I own a home and don't understand your concept. So, investing in America's infrastructure is a joke to you, huh? Suing the banks is the answer? Kinda like letting Detroit go bankrupt, too?
Can you say disconnected? Yep. Like Etch-A-Stench!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
bahrrt... How is investing tax money in foreign companies like fisker and opening 7 new plants in china for GM investing in America's infrastructure???
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because the children in china and new zealand deserve to have the jobs that your American children were supposed to have!
Civil again you are a bumbling fool idiot. You do know that don't you? Investing in new auto industry absolutely stopped the free-falling to economic devastation.
And investing in America's infrastructure would include building new roads, bridges, green energy power, solar, wind, advanced high-speed rail.
Do you get it?
That hoodie for an icon is appropriate for a bigoted-bafoon moron, however, shouldn't be our country's colors, so you ought to change it since you are no where close to being a patriot.
HI BAHRRT!!!!
Tell me something..... Do those buildings and roads reach China and New Zealand???
I'm just wondering because THEY'RE STARTING THE CONSTRUCTION THERE!
WOOOOHOOO!!!
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because the roads and bridges you pay for SHOULD be in china and new zealand! Your children don't deserve them anyway!
Hey Civil what does your nonsensical ranting mean?
Really? I can't be more ashamed of you than you making such an a$$ of yourself, dude?
But...goes to show the level of intelligence the TP Republicon trolls enlists in their ranks. I am really not worried. I mean today we widened the poll gap some more from these folks. =)
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Does a third round of stimulus mean that the Obama policies have failed?
Absolutely. There can be no question of this. Had the policies of this President not failed, we would not be needing another stimulus. Interstingly, they are failing to even attempt to put a price tag on this one, leaving it entirely open ended.
Translation - we dont care if we have no money, we will spend it anyway. On an idea that has failed repeatedly, and drives us horrendously deeper into debt.
For those of you who blame the so called republican obstructionism, consider that Harry Reid, leading a republican proof majority in the house, wont even allow debate on issues the republicans bring up, or pass in the house. Not even a debate, despite there being exactly zero chance of a republican bill clearing the Senate.
Then tell me how that is not obstructionism in its purest form, and how that does not make Harry the representative of the true party of no in Washington at this point.
You've obviously never head of the filibuster...which is used to obstruct -- nothing can be done...both houses of congress are to blame.....but the republicans more than the democrats simply because they've put their pledge to Norquist above their oath of office.
Gosh and golly, Sueb -
Thanks ever so much for the civics lesson. However, your little lesson for me completely avoids my point, which I have come to expect from liberals of all stripes.
Your take on the pledge to Norquist is interesting, but is completely wrong and is fairly uninformed as well.
Try again with more than rehashed blaming of republicans, Norquist bashing, and DNC talking points.
Why don't you explain it to me? Tell me where I'm wrong about the republicans and Norquist.
Sueb -
I would be happy to, but I am still waiting to see if you can respond to my first point in any way that is not evasion. It is apparent from your posts that you have decided that republicans are evil, not just people with a different opinion.
Respond to my first point about obstructionism, and then I will be happy to explain my opinion to you.
Sueb1 - you are absolutely right. Any politician who signs a pledge to anyone should be kicked out of office. What they have done is tantamount to treason. They have pledged their oath to someone who is not part of the constituents who elected him. Norquist represents a very clandestine group that is funded by groups not only within our country but also those from outside - Jerusalem, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia - to name a few. The fact that Norquist brings foreigners into our government should be investigated at the highest levels.
Plus who the h*ll is he to require anyone to sign an oath to follow his leadership? Again, anyone who signs an oath to him is NOT serving our country. We have to wonder exactly who they do serve.
Obama/Biden 2012
Nontalkingpoint is right. He has nontalkingpoints LOL...
Bush was instituting a stimulus on his way out and Willard (God forbid he is elected) would be doing the same since your party likes to put the country deep in the red.
Blame goes to Republicans for the state of the Union today, and I will keep blaming Republicans since Republicants cant/wont do a damn thing to help get the economy on track!
You know this to be true. Ever since this president came into office Republicons have blocked every single piece of legislation this POTUS wanted to help the economy, including a Jobs bill several months ago.
Tell me what policies have failed, you idiot. His approval ratings on every poll is ahead of Etch-A-Stench. From economic, to foreign, to domestic policies.
You can't name one.
Oh, BTW what makes THESE TP Republican evil is that they are so far to the right that they have become too radical to be recognized by even the likes of McCain, or Huntsman. Regan would be considered a moderate Independent compared to these fools you so blindly follow.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
If the economy struggles it is the Obama's fault for not doing enough to improve it. If something is done to improve the economy it is acknowledgement that his economic policies are a failure. The Republicans really do want it both ways.
How about we put the partisan bickering aside and actually try to do something. Like maybe fix the stupid economy. You IDIOTS!
Iowa Guy -
Funny stuff, really - suggesting putting aside the partisan bickering while saying that the republicans really do want it both ways.
Unfortunately for your side of the aisle, the economy is struggling, and that is at Obamas feet at this point, so he is not doing enough to fix it. To acknowledge that his policies are a failure which then required yet another stimulus is not wanting it both ways, that is simply seeing reality.
That is not wanting it both ways - that is two truths.
And by the way - what makes you think this round of stimulus will work any better than the others have? Was it the glowing success of the other stimulus actions taken, which have left us in bad shape?
Perhaps next time you might want to employ logic before you post.....
Nontalking
What would Willard do to get the economy going fast enough for you, hhmmmm? Please enlighten all of us because everyone on this side of the isle (and probably yours too) would really like know.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Wow, imagine that--the republicans are against something that might help the economy and the middle class! Next thing you know they'll hold the economy hostage in order to keep their insane pledge to Grover Norquist......oh, right, they've already done that.
Fix housing and you fix the middle class. You can't borrow money and buy things with no equity. that is why bernanke is gonna do what he is doing until the debt levels go down. Obama/nitt - they have no control over it or understand the problem. It will be a decade more unless they start poni up money through legistlation for the ponzi that was created but never adjudicated. Romney at the margin can create a few more jobs by opening up drilling compared to obama's plan. Overall, neither gives a rats behind cause neither are not interested in helping poor peoople - just rhetoric.
Ursula - I'm glad your 401k is doing fine. My 401k has been able to make up about 30% of what it lost. I could not keep the same contributions and you really never get back what you loose. That is simple math.
NBC - Your headlines give a kind of hint that the Feds are taking this action because the economy is week. Would you care to be more detail on what your really think or is my surprise next week going to make that point.
It is my view and that of many that the economy sucks and the unemployment numbers will show that again. Now we will have to look for inflation in addition. Thank you Mr President. You own it good or bad.
Concern, then why on earth would you vote for someone whose policies are the same as Bush's that caused such terrible losses? Do you honestly believe that by helping the rich get richer your situation will improve as well? It didn't last time under Bush - why would it under Romney?
Years ago, Andy Rooney did a little tongue-in-cheek commentary about the difference between Republicans and Democrats. He said (and I'm paraphrasing) "Republicans drink gin and tonic in the summer...Democrats drink beer...Republicans drink martinis in the winter...Democrats drink beer."
The martini-sipping GOP lead by their ultra-wealthy candidate, Mitt Romney, would like you to believe that by mere association, your lot in life will improve. Sadly, the 'drippings of wealth' are not trickling down - never have, never will. So if you want to improve your lot in life, vote for the party that has your interests in mind - and that's not the GOP!
The GOP got that headline right
Why not ask them where are the jobs bills they promised in 2010?
Why not ask Obama where the "shovel-ready" jobs are ? He simply lied about that, then laughed at it later.
Why not ask Bush why he gave tax subsidies to keep businesses overseas, not pay for the wars he started, and unfunded Medicare, too?
So sorry about Phinephancy. May she rest in peace and may her family always remember her with love.
GOP said no to EVERYTHING and they told us that they would say no to EVERYTHING! THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD DO IT TO MAKE PRES> OBAMA FAIL AND THEY KNEW IT WOULD negatively affect the WHOLE DA*& COUNTRY. THEY TOLD US THAT THEY WOULD STOP AT NOTHING TO STOP THE PRESIDENT. WHY would anyone take them serious unless they did not care about the rest of us !
GOD BLESS not only PHINE but all of us AMEN !
RMcI -
That you believe what you typed is fairly frightening....
You actually think the republicans want to hurt this country? You actually think the republicans dont care about "the rest of us"?
Truly, I am sorry to hear that you are this deluded.
I KNOW!!! Isn't it going to be ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS watching EVERYBODY'S children starve because you and your messiah were too spoiled to take "NO" for an answer from the other half of America??
WOOOHOOO!!!
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because there are far too many worthless American spoiled liberal brats who have access to food.
nottalkingpoints - when a group of politicians get together and say their primary goal is to make the President a one-term President - to h*ll with the country - then it's safe to say they don't care about the country. That's what we learned from the GOP!
Obama/Biden 2012
Sanity -
Sorry to see that you are still clinging to that tired talking point, really.
Unfortunately, it is not accurate - make Obama a one term president - that part is true, for certain. But, that is always the goal of the minority party, regardless of which one is the minority party. To deny that is to be deluded.
To attach the "to h*ll with the country" part - that is not only wrong, but is in fact a falsehood.
If all you learned from the GOP is to believe the DNC lie about that, then I feel for you - you obviously have not been paying enough attention.
So I guess the GOP speech suggesting the GOP block as many bills as they can was just part of making Obama a 1-term President and had nothing to do with flushing the country down the toilet?
Sounds like your tag should me OnlyTalkingPoints
notalkingpoints - no I posted the truth. You choose to ignore it since it shows the Republicans in Congress to be the obstructionists they have been - who have kept the economy down. The fact that you chose to cling to your lies tells us everything about your intelligence - none of it good!
Obama/Biden 2012
Sanity -
A sad attack, used only by people who have lost the argument, or debate. It also ignores the substance of what I said, and twists it to serve your agenda only.
Good for you - you are a pure liberal, and as is normal for that sort, ignore reality.
Ken - try actually reading my post carefully, then responding.
The republican in the house have passed only tax cuts for the rich. How on God's earth is that a jobs bill?
35 years of the trickle down theory, which everyone knows how it works. BECAUSE HASN"T WORKED IN 35 YEARS.
The GNOP/Tea baggers have done ZERO to help the economy. All in the name of defeating President Obama.
You notice how that continue to say President Obama is a total failure but can't remember bush caused this mess in the first place. That's why we are in it, now you want to put mittwitt to repeat the disaster all over again but this time they will make sure the rich take all the money instead of leaving some behind.
Under Romney tax plan Sheldon Aldelson would get a $2 billion dollar return on $100 million or more campaign contribution. WOW what a return on investment.
Say anything man Filp flooper mittwitt will have everyone who bet on him lose their shirt.
That's BULL$HIT ! The Bush Tax Cuts, which Obama reluctantly extended, reduced tax rates on ALL tax rates that existed, with those on the lower end of the scale getting a 33.3? reduction from 15% down to 10%.
Got any more distortions genius ?
Jim, you are brilliant, you know...these tax cuts have done two things.
1.Enriched the richest even more which Solutions pointed out and you have ignored. And 2.Have contributed to the national debt and want to blame Obama for it.
So...your Bull$hit, is Bull$hit X 2, genius!
I am sorry to hear about the passing of Phinephancy. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Loosing a loved one is so difficult. Take one day at a time.
The GOP do not want the economy to improve and that is awful to root against the American people. It is the same issue when the GOP refuse to sign President Obama's jobs bill. The American people needs to take chareg show the GOP who is in charge by not electing them into office.
Talk to the Hand
Can you tell me one thing they are sitting on that would create any significant job growth without the government spending money they don't have? Just curious as last I knew, the environment for business right now stinks. Too much uncertainty.
Look at this idiot. It's called the fully paid for American Jobs Act you ignorant fool
282,000 more people down the sh..hole! Thanks Mr Obama for making the last four years better than almost any other time our country has had! Times like the Great Depression
Of course that is what the Great-American-Hater-In-Chief wants! No jobe for anybody and welfare without work until we go bankrupt like Greece, Ireland,Italy, Spain, France!
You know, all the great socialist countries who handed out more than they took in - TILL THE BILL CAME DO!!!!
pretty simple

the fed is destroying the dollar to prop up our feckless reckless faux leader. obozo
lazy bastard, first meeting 11 am. LLLLAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZY
The GOP is blaming Obama for Fed action? Maybe if they would not have obstructed every jobs bill in the Senate, the Fed wouldn't have to act.
In 2010, the GOP campaigns promised us jobs, yet their priority remains to repeal the PACA; they have voted on repeal 35 times now. How many jobs bills have they allowed to come to the floor for a vote?
And before anyone claims the House has sent over jobs bills sponsored by the GOP, any bill with amendments to repeal or defund the PACA, or extend tax cuts to the rich are a non-starter. Give us a true jobs bill and let it stand on it's own merits.
Ray -
That would proove to be challenging, with Reid obstructing everything in sight that has even a tinge of republican approval.
Besides - maybe they were jobs bills -we will never know, since they are not even allowed to come up for debate....even in a republican proof senate, where the debate has no chance of doing any harm.
What are the senate dems scared of? Why wont they even debate? Surely, if they are so very right about everything, they would win the debate....so the only conclusion is that they are scared of the public reaction, which in turn indicates they are not sure they are right.
In other words, obstructionism, pure and simple.
Good spin, but total fail, notakingpoints (literally).
Good ol Mitch McConnell, RNC Priebus, and Cantor really made it clear. One term for this POTUS.
Your ridiculous theory is nonsense since the fact that these guys wanted Obama out from DAY ONE.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
and obozo in chief has our marines protecting our embassies WITHOUT WEAPONS OR BULLETS!!!!
HE IS AN A HOLE!!
What a flagrant liar you are, your mom should wash your mouth out with soap.
BTW; it was Republicans who sent our men and women into war without arming them with the equipment they needed and families who spent money to sent our troops basic needs like clothing and armored vests.
ken -
To bad for you, it happens to be true! The marines have been complaining about the situation for the past few years.
Why don't you ask them?
When Obama blames Republicans for his first-term failures, he is admitting that he would be equally incompetent in a second term: He is not getting any better at creating consensus, Republicans are not going to magically disappear, and his socialist plans for our economy are still going to be unacceptable to conservatives.
No, we can't blame Republicans who declared on day one of the Obama Presidency that they would do anything to ensure he would be a 1-term President; including driving the economy to the brink.
No, Republicans are not at all to blame!
Your statements placing all blame on Obama is about as ignorant as they come!
Ken -
If nothing else, you have proven yourself to be an Obama apologist of the first order....
In fact, Kannin is right - Obama has proven himself a failure in leadership and consensus building, as well as being a failure of epic proportions economically speaking.
You need look back no farther in time than Bill Clinton to see an example of a successful President working with an opposition party, and one that was every bit as partisan as todays opposition.
You can't build a consensus with people who do the equivalent of sticking their hands over their ears and singing "I'm not listening!!!!" which was basically what the Tea Party Republicans have been doing over the least 2 years (and even before then).
Obama tried quite often to work with Republicans, and at least John Boehnor got it, as he would cut deals with Obama over the budget and over the debt ceiling. However, more than once those deals would fall apart when the Tea Partiers within the house refused to go along.
However, I do blame Obama for not doing the one thing he actually does excellently--going to the public and making his case. In the past, presidents would be able to rally the public behind them, but Obama really never effectively was able to make the case for his policies.
Unfortunately, unless one part or the other gets a clear majority in the House and the Senate (which has to be a filibuster-proof majority), I don't see things changing no matter who gets elected. Obama will continue to face the ignorant Tea Party bunch in the House, and Romney can't even get his own party to like him, let alone be able to cut deals with Democrats.
Michael -
Unfortunately, the end result is that President Obama has failed in consensus building, in an environment that is similar to what Clinton experienced.
That means he failed, no more, no less.
In turn, that means that he is a one term proposition, because we can not take another four years of failure like this.
Michael - Are you suggesting that because all those nasty Republicans were mean to him, little Barry deserves a “do-over?” This is our country we're talking about, not grade school.
Kannin according to the polls, little barry is getting a do-over. More Americans know they can trust Obama than those that hate Obama like you. See even you know you can trust him but you hate him so you cannot vote for him. Its okay President Obama will win in a landslide without your vote.
@ notalkingpoints
You can only consensus build if the other party is willing to compromise. Everyone on this planet including you know the Repukes/tea baggers refuse to compromise. The only one thinking they were willing to compromise is you. FOOLs have a brain too you know.
And you cannot compromise when the weak, ineffective leader in the White House keeps changing the deal even AFTER a deal is reached ! That is what your beloved Bam-Bam did with Boehner some time back !!
Our country is $16 trillion dollars in debt and during his entire term of office, Obama has failed to get a budget passed and his 'friggin proposals have been so BAD, so UNREALISTIC .... that no one from his own Democratic Party has voted for it ... not ONE vote from his own party !!!
That is not "leadership". That is total incompetence by Obama.
Kanin, Jim, and Notalkingpoint really watch way too much Fox that they sound like em, too!
Wait a minute are you sure you're not Hannity, OReiley, and Huckabee?
Or, more like Moe, Larry, and Curly. XD
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Mitt Romney obviously has no idea of-- and really no emotional attachment to -- what he's saying. His past few days are simply evidence of desperation and he is just mouthing trite chesnuts that his advisors (!) are telling him to say. Etch-a-sketch.
Isn't it great how you can just splurge out a bunch of accusations without any factual evidence to back it up???
* MORE YEARS!!! GOOOOBAMA! ...because when Americans let a complete retard drive the bus, they deserve a catastrophy!!
Dirk - Do you have any idea where the "Etch-a-Sketch" insult originated or are you just vomiting back left-wing slogans that some other idiot fed you? Here are the facts:
Romney's communications director Eric Fehrnstromon referred to the shift from a primary campaign to a presidential campaign by saying "I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It's almost like an Etch-A-Sketch" Of course, Romney's opponents immediately pretended the remark had some significance.
Contrast this with Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor and mentor for 20 years saying, “The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color.”
Intelligent people will recognize that the "etch-sketch" comment is a cute analogy by one of Romney's campaign workers; while saying that AIDS is a means of genocide against Blacks. represents a core belief that Obama has absorbed.
Stop comparing apples and oranges Kannin. Rev Wright was not on President Obama's campaign staff. And I saw they guy make the comment so dont try to paint it the way you would like to. What he said in a nutshell was that once Romney makes it through the Primaries, the stances he took on different issues might change. And he used the analogy of an etch a sketch. He could have used a kitchen utensil as an anlogy (like a spatula) spatulas are used for flippin things over that flop back down in the skillet.
If Obama is reelected, just imagine what a mess he will inherit this time!
I have been watching Romney's face when he speaks........no emotion, could be too much botox.
Kannin
Gee can't stand the proverbial political word play, huh? Etch-A-Sketch stuck because Mitt has an issue with his convictions, dude.
But how about this doosie, "You didn't build that"?
Fox, and every single swinging Republicon outlet clipped this to make it sound as if the president was saying something that he wasn't.
It was fact checked, and yet, you pundits still love to double down on this and other misrepresentations and untruths.
The whole Romney/Ryan campaign is a big, fat lie.

Oh so typical of the mindless gullible left.
This ridiculous matrix, of which you are a part of, for assessing a candidates qualifications for office is the inevitable offspring of the cultural coupling of narcissism and attention deficit disorder, otherwise defined as an inability to think for more than two minutes about anything more complicated than yourself.
If you had even a miniscule amount of intelligence, you would be ashamed of yourself, but reading the posts here shows you have lot's of company.
