Subscribe to RSSA Republican advocacy group on Friday launched a new print ad campaign seeking to exploit the Democratic National Convention's platform reversal over Jerusalem, charging that the Democrats are "split when it comes to supporting Israel” and are "no longer the party of our parent's generation."
The Republican Jewish Coalition -- a group that is largely funded by Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and few other wealthy GOP donors -- said it will run the full-page ads next week in 11 Jewish newspapers in four swing states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and Nevada.
"At the Democratic Party convention in Charlotte, N.C., it's become painfully clear that this party is no longer the Democratic Party of our parents' generation," the ad states. "This week has witnessed a shocking series of events. These regrettable incidents reveal a party that has wandered far from its origins."
The ad campaign, part of a $6.5 million effort by the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), is the latest sign that the Jerusalem controversy at the convention could have lingering impact on the fall campaign.
President Barack Obama accepts the Democratic presidential nomination and addresses the DNC, Thursday, in Charlotte, N.C.
When Democratic Party officials earlier this week realized the potential fallout from the platform committee's failure to include past language about Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, they redrafted new language to reinsert it into the platform. That in turn led to an unexpected and divisive dispute on the convention floor on Wednesday: Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the convention chair, three times asked delegates to approve by voice vote a motion reinstating language declaring that "Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel."
Despite a loud chorus of "No”s and some boos that appeared to be at least as loud as those shouting "Yes," Villaraigosa declared the motion to have passed by the required two-thirds vote.

The RJC ads suggest that the party's efforts to "fix" the Jerusalem problem are not over. The ads describe the floor scene as a "stunning spectacle" and quotes a press report depicting it as "an embarrassing moment for the party."
Republican-leaning super PACs and the state of the economy are two issues causing concern for President Obama's re-election campaign as the Democratic National Convention wraps up in Charlotte, North Carolina. NBC's Kristen Welker, Chuck Todd, and Tom Brokaw report.
Meanwhile, Arab-American and Muslim delegates to the Democratic convention have decried the process by which the language was reinstated as clumsy and undemocratic.
James Zogby, the president of the Arab-American Institute who serves on the Democratic party's platform committee, told NBC News he was concerned that "Arab Americans will feel they got punched in the solar plexus.”
"This was ham-fisted and a blunder,” he said. “... They stepped all over the convention the way this was done."

This whole thing was a last minute attempt by Obama to stem the rapid loss of the Jewish vote he was seeing. He has made several statements that have been highly negative with regard to Israel and his support for Israel has been questionable. Obama is now waking up and realizing that he can not win Florida without the Jewish vote and he has lost a big chunk of it due to his administration's attitudes towards Israel. Obama's only problem is that the Jews are smarter than the other minorities he panders to and they realize exactly what he is doing and will not fall for it.
Interesting, in Iowa republicans have thrown over $100 million in incentives trying to get an Egyptian company to open a fertilizer plant, while offering nothing to a 140 year old company that has over 100 skilled machinists that's been crippled by the economy's collapse. They've offered millions in incentives to a Korean company while doing nothing for the small businesses that have folded.
Call the RNC to be removed from their mailing list and you'll be transferred to the off shore call center they hired instead of Americans. I hate republican liars and hypocrites as much as democratic liars and hypocrites.

When President Obama wins it will be a great day again for middle class Americans. It will mean no war with Iran. It will mean that Medicare won't be vouchered. Why don't you look up the Cabinet. The minority grouping is listed in reverse so as to be "politically correct". Bur it is there, As to the administration in general there are too many to be listed in a "politically correct" fashion so I doubt that any such listing exists. Had they said "West-Jerusalem is the capital of Israel", then fine, that's in Israel, but putting all of Jerusalem is absolutely unacceptable. East-Jerusalem's annexation is in violation of international law, the whole world said so, the International Court of Justice said so, no country accepts to recognize it, we certainly should not be doing it.

Over 70% of the American electorate supporters Israel and their right to exist. But also one of the largest campaign contribution sectors for the Democrats is the Jewish community. What the vote the other night shows is a large part of the Democratic base is exactly what some people have been saying. They are aetheists and anti Israel. This endanger an important voting block for the Democrats especially in Florida. But this vote is also dividing the Black Evangelical block. There are many black pastors who are very upset.

We got a lot of information from that raid and that is great. The President saved the American car industry. He did a great job with the Recovery Act. The stimulus helped every state. Jobs for teachers, police officers and fire fighters and many other jobs were created. Republicans are dumb enough to think that the GOP will do anything other than tax cuts for the wealthy and more subsidies for corporations. More cuts to hurt the poor. One of the biggest difference between the 2 parties has been the reluctance of Democrats to go to war, unless our nation is attacked or is facing an imminent threat. The Democrats should and can get along without the Jewish vote, which is only 2% anyway. If Jewish people think voting for Democrats is buying a war with Iran, then attracting their vote isn't worth the effort. In the 2008 election, Obama got 78% of the "Zionist" vote. DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz fabricated statements from the Israeli ambassador to the US, Mr. Orem, that GOP policies were harmful to Israel - statements that were immediately and vehemently denied by Mr. Orem. DWS then blamed it upon the conservative newspaper that reported her lies. When the audio tape of her comments made during a "teaching session for Jewish delegates" was posted on the internet, she had no one to blame for her continuing prevarications but herself.
Obama hasn't visited Israel as president, not even on his apology tour. He has treated PM Bibi Netanyahu with demeaning disregard during his White House visits, but he still claims to be "solidly" in support of Israel. How am I not surprised that language regarding Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was deleted by the Democratic Platform Committee? I'm not even getting into the deletion of God from the Democratic Platform.

We are prosecuting the war in Afghanistan in order to remove the Taliban, so the TAPI gas pipeline, which will transport Israeli owned gas to India, can be completed in 2014. The TAPI gas pipeline is the major reason we ever went in to Afghanistan, but we needed an excuse. The excuse was 9/11, which was an inside job, with Zionist involvement. After all, it is Israel who will be making the trillions of dollars selling gas to India, Pakistan and even Afghanistan.

plan to build a regional natural gas pipeline
across war-ravaged southern Afghanistan, long thought to be
impractical given the dismal security there, moved a step closer to becoming
a reality on Saturday.
The leaders
of Turkmenistan, Pakistan and
Afghanistan and India’s energy minister signed a preliminary agreement in
Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, to proceed with plans for the American-backed
pipeline, the Russian news agency Itar-Tass and other regional media reported.
United
States officials hope that the line, called TAPI, will not only bolster
Afghanistan’s economy by generating transit fees but will strengthen ties
between the archrivals India and Pakistan.
The
pipeline, which would be about 1,080 miles long, would carry gas from
Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan and into India.
The
agreement signed on Saturday, however, is just an early step in the pipeline
project. The government backers of the plan have yet to secure financing for
construction or to agree on commercial terms for the sales, according to news
reports from Russia and Central Asia. The project’s cost estimates range from
$3 billion to $10 billion.
The
agreement also does not address how the pipeline would be protected in
Afghanistan’s Helmand and Kandahar Provinces, which have been Taliban
strongholds. The Afghan government has said the pipeline would be buried and
local communities would be paid to protect it.
India and
Pakistan now import energy, while Turkmenistan has the world’s fourth-largest
reserves of natural gas. Users of the trans-Afghan pipeline would pay fees to
the countries that it passes through, with Afghanistan being the largest
beneficiary.
Under the
terms of the pact, Afghanistan could also benefit by withdrawing some of the
gas as cheap fuel for electrical stations and heating.
The project,
as with so many other energy infrastructure works in the region, is deeply
entwined with politics. The United States is backing the line as an alternative
to the proposed Iran-Pakistan-India, or IPI, pipeline that would tap Iran’s
large South Pars gas field.
The United
States deputy assistant secretary of state for Central Asia, Susan Elliott,
told an energy conference in Turkmenistan last month that the TAPI pipe “would
provide revenue and jobs for Afghanistan at a critical time in its economic
development,” while helping to stabilize the wider region.
Oil companies proposed the pipeline in 1995, but
it dropped off their agenda after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan the
following year. The plan was revived after the United States-led invasion of
Afghanistan in 2001, and received backing from the Asian Development Bank,
which financed feasibility studies.
Iran can
sell gas to India at a third the price of Turkmenistan. This is the ENTIRE
issue. In Turkmenistan Israel holds the lease rights to sell this gas and US
companies are building the pipeline called TAPI. This has gotten Iran upset and
that is what the whole reason for petroleum sanctions. We have US military
holding the Taliban at bay in the North all the while prince and his private
paramilitary mercenary forces are executing pipeline security privately in the
South to lend some sort of propriety to this whole sham of a war. Americans
should demand presidential head on a platter for this fraud. Deni-ability is
everything.

The Democrats were wrong to rewrite their platform the way they did, and it's far from clear that they improved it. The Republicans seem to feel that being a friend to Israel means offering unconditional support to their current leaders, who, in the view of many Israelis, are violating the rights of the Arabs living in the occupied territories and blocking any meaningful attempts to solve the issue. Friends don't let friends drive drunk.

You and Bob Kerrey believe that companies, who currently are not mandated to offer healthcare but do so voluntarily (albeit as a motivation to attract better employees) will cease to do so because it will now cost them $2000 more? Granted, it will actually cost less but they will no longer attract the higher quality employees. I don't see that happening. If the money was an issue, why wouldn't they stopped offereing it when it wouldn't cost them $2000?

The republicans in my family also don't support Israel. They want the US to be a religious state because they are sure that Christianity would dominate is how they put it. Interesting on how the libs are making this a yawner. The fact is not the language it is on how it was done. The larger voice was "NO". Yet to obey his Highness King Obama, Mayor Villaraigosa determined that 2/3'ds majority had approved the measure. By doing so, The Democratic party told all of it's members that if you do not agree with the King then your vote does not count. So if Obama loses the election, will he throw out the election and make himself President? Kind of sounds that way to me.

If the Republicans are smart they should double down in Florida with the "god" part of this controversy. There are large pockets of right leaning Christians in Florida who might be motivated by Democrats "booing" God.
