F6Z, everyone knows the democrats have been big spenders in long ago wars and many very good social programs that have contributed greatly to the deficit but also to the prosperity and well being of this country, but remember the republicans raised the federal deficit by about $100 billion a year when the repubs passed Medicare D with no way to fund it, and this will be growing over the next 10 years with all the baby boomers retiring. (It would be a very good program if it was funded, but as is it just adds to the deficit.) The repubs have caused about $1.5 trillion in debt (and growing) in the 2 wars they started, and have doubled the military spending, and Romney/Ryan are proposing more massive military spending increases. Then there was the repub bank bail out. Now Romney's/Ryan's only solution is that the future seniors born after 1957 are supposed to sacrifice their lives, investment to Medicare and promises made by the federal government to them for access to health care in their old age to help pay for these things when Medicare becomes privatized, and they cannot afford the high private insurance premiums. The poor, the working poor, many handicapped individuals and seniors on Medicaid are supposed to sacrifice their lives to help pay for these things when Romney/Ryan cut Medicaid and food stamp funding drastically. Meanwhile, the wealthiest who could afford to do the most to save America's economy and have profited the most from America's freedoms are being asked to less and get more tax breaks so they can send more jobs overseas as they have been doing for the past 10-20 years. Is there anything fair, just or simply humane in Romney's/Ryan's plan? Anything?????

Like our grandparents and great-grandparents during the Depression, who responded to the crisis with their votes and overturned the economic royalists of old, we should fight back. My2Cents - Mitt has told us what he plans to do...

Raise taxes for the lower classes while lowering them for the rich. He also said that he wants the lower classes to pay more for Insurance with less coverage - while only lowering the cost of insurance for the rich. He also said that he wants to lower the amount one receives for Social Security (Which the majority have paid our hard earned money for (and approaching retirement), and also lowering the amount of medicare coverage, while increasing the cost for that benefit. He also wants to increase off shore drilling and allowing more drilling on Federal lands and increasing the amount the Oil companies receive in tax breaks. I for one have a unique perspective,I am disabled, awaiting a heart transplant. I have a rare blood dis-order that makes my blood clot faster than 1 in 10,000,000. I have had multiple heart attacks(16 in 8 years) and other complications as a result of the MI's and PE's. I am on medicare and recieve disability. I have spent all my assets in my treatment. It was my docter's plan to get a heart transplant.

Less than 90 days after passage of Obama Care I received a letter stating in basics terms, medicare would not pay for the transplant, and I needed a waiver from HHS to get it. My docters have requested the waiver, but to this date no responce. So to all you who think there will not be a rationing of health care with the current administrations policies you are living in a dream world.

When you defend his "cuts" to current medicare your liberal responce is always will that was through "savings" and cutting re-imbursements rates to hospitals and docters. Just use logic here folks, hospitals may accept the cuts in re-imbursement because they have NO OTHER OPTION. On the other hand Docters who 95% are independent contractors do not have to accept these cuts and they will not. My internal medicine docter just sent me a letter stating that I need to look for another general docter who will accept medicare after Jan 1, 2013, he no longer will do it. I have been with him for 10 years. What happen to keeping your docter and nothing will change.

Like i said i have a different perspective than most, and every thing changed Obama Care passed. My situation and the results of Actual Policy actions of Obama Care have had me seeking alternative methods to pay for my transplant. I have talked with BC/BS in my state and if I can stay free of heart attacks and heart related illness for 90 days while on theirplan, their plan will pay for ALL heart related illness and transplant costs. The key catch is 90 days, hard for me but I have no other option. For all the harsh comments about private insurance and pre-existing conditions, I find their policies to be more humane. But you liberals keep spitting out all the talking points of Obama Care, soon you too will be denied coverage through this legislation nightmare. I always here the 4 to 5 talking points, Makes insurance cover pre-existing conditions, kids covered under parent's plan till 26, etc. all those could be covered easily in a bill that really does help who it's intended to, not 2300 pages of more beaucracy and legal wording that you need to have a JD Law degree to understand.

The "Greed and Debt" article is a good read. The author really dug into the details of how Bain Capital and Romney made their money. There are obviously editorial comments in the article that are made from the liberal perspective, but the hard facts are undeniable.

Bain Capital used mostly DEBT to acquire companies, then the acquired companies took on DEBT in order to pay the Bain Management fees. The Interest on this debt is tax-deductible, so basically this tax break subsidized Bain's acquisitions.

Romney's profit from these activities was then taxed at the lower 15% "Earned Interest"rate, around half of what earned income would be taxed at.

Romney started out strong, appearing human and caring. He mentioned how disappointed he was in how the country fared after 2008, and seemed to sympathize with those independents who voted for Obama.

Then Romney went over to the "dark side", devoting the second part of his speech to bashing President Obama and rattling his saber at Russia and Iran.

Romney failed in several areas. He failed to place any of the blame for the economic situation on the Republican party, offered no real reason why he wants to be president, no clear answer to why he would be a better president, and no clear path to his vision for the future.

Republicans have claimed for 3 1/2 years that President Obama is "empty rhetoric" - soaring words with no results. That is what I saw all week at the Republican convention - a lot of pretty speeches that ignored history, distorted facts, and had no connection to the reality of their policies.

That is not correct. If you read the article you linked, the author claims Bains deal with the FDIC to fiorgive it's debt for 30 cents on the dollar was not a bailout - because it was done in advance of Bain going bankrupt., and that's what the FDIC does.

That is pretty thin logic. Romney threatened the FDIC into accepting 30 cents for every dollar of Bain owed them by saying that under the terms of the debt agreemnt he could yake the cash and pay bonuses instead, leaving Bain & Co. bankrupt.

Bailout, settlement, whatever you want to call it - Romney got the FDIC to acept pennies on the dollar in settlement of Bain & Co.'s debt . Sounds like a "bailout" to me.

The CBO estimates that at least 12 million new jobs will be created over the next four years, no matter who the next President is. Romney is preparing to take credit for what Obama has already started.

3 Vouchers for Heasth Care is an excellent way to go. People would be incharge of it, they would shop around for the best doctors/cost. We allow people to pick their own markets, department stores, and gas stations, why not healthcare? So far the Government doesn't require us to only get gas at one station, and only shop at certian government approved stores, but you want healthcare to be forced on us?

4 Vouchers for School Choice, another great idea, property owners already pay the tax for this, why shouldn't we be allowed to choose the schools for our children? If we don't like the results, we can move our sturdents, and the money to a better school. Why is anyone against this?

5 Sorry but unemployment benefits should not last 2 years. By shorting it people will find work sooner. Just about every study shows people find work about a month before thier benefits run out. It should also be a work/study program, not a just sit back and watch the game program.

6. Why do we have this Pension Guarantee Program. It should be a Get the Companies, and employees to fund their Pension Program. The Taxpayers should not be involved with it, or have to bail them out.

7. What is wrong with Missle defence? I for one would sure want it if North Korea, or Iran lobbed missles at me. I am sure Liberials would be screaming bloody murder if they heard missles were on there way here. The Soviet Union has had one for decades.

8. China is working on and testing satelite disrupton systems. We depend on ours for communications, Navigation, and many other things, besides military systems.

9. Israel is not the only target of Iran's missle systems. The US is also a main target. Just like Iraq, the government hates us but not all the population. We do need to neutalize there hostal ambitions. War is the last option.

Tax cuts are great. But what about the national debt? How much of the budget is he going to cut? Most of the reports I've read indicate that hes not cutting nearly enough government to pay for the taxes he wants to cut.

While at the same time taking away tax deductions. So it will end up that some people will most assuredly see a tax increase. That old Reagan voodoo plan at work again.

The tax deductions Romney's proposing to take away are all for poor people; the earned income credit, deductions for daycare, mortgage interest. He doesn't have to worry about supporting his children, or providing daycare (since he has servants to do that), or paying for a mortgage.
