Paul Ryan was getting hammered on social media for what commenters say was his dishonesty in his address Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention, according to NBCPolitics.com's computer-assisted analysis of thousands of Twitter and Facebook posts through midday Thursday. But the controversy didn't appear to be changing many people's votes.
Ryan, whom many Americans were getting their first long look at as his party's vice presidential nominee, made several assertions Wednesday night that many nonpartisan watchdogs and news organizations called mostly false or misleading.
Paul Ryan may have gotten a rock star reception Wednesday at the Republican National Convention, but the White House pushed back aggressively on the veracity of his entire speech. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
Ryan was most severely criticized for two attacks on President Barack Obama:
- Ryan said Obama broke a promise to make sure that a General Motors plant in Janesville, Wis. — Ryan's hometown — would stay in business. The plant did close, but as was reported at the time, it ended operations in December 2008, before Obama even took office.
- Ryan also criticized Obama for doing "exactly nothing" with the recommendations of a bipartisan commission he appointed to review the nation's debt crisis. He neglected to mention that he was a member of the commission — and that he voted against the recommendations himself.
NBCPolitics.com uses a tool called ForSight, a data platform developed by Crimson Hexagon Inc., which many research and business organizations have adopted to gauge public opinion in new media. It isn't the same as traditional surveys, which seek to reflect national opinion; instead, it's a broad, non-predictive snapshot of what's being said by Americans who follow politics and are active on Facebook, Twitter or both at a particular moment in time, and why they're saying it.

For this report, the sample collected posts between the beginning of Ryan's speech Wednesday night and 1 p.m. ET Thursday.
Representative posts during that period and a visual representation of discussion topics indicate that "lies" appears prominently in negative commentary on Ryan's address. So do slams at his voting record in Congress, a consistent driver of negative sentiment in NBCPolitics.com's social media data since his selection as Mitt Romney's running mate Aug. 11:

Positive comment was mainly expressed in general terms, in sharp contrast to the specific complaints others had:

The reception to Ryan's speech doesn't appear to changed many people's minds, however, according to NBCPolitics.com's separate monitor tracking Election Day voting intentions.
Before the address, 36 percent of social media posts expressing a clear preference backed the Romney-Ryan ticket, compared with 33 percent that supported Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. In the 17 hours afterward, that gap had narrowed by only one point — to 35 percent to 34 percent.

Know the truth...be informed. Read this if you dare. It won't fit anyone's cute little agenda. The truth has no agenda.
Obama/Biden 2012!
The truth doesn't seem to make much difference.
The article talks about the numbers not really changing after Ryan's lie-a-thon.
Just the other day I was on a social media site, and I asked some folks some questions about their positions. I was straightforward and polite -- I really wanted to know what they thought.
Not only did they not answer my questions -- their replies were "People should not talk about politics here" and "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion."
Of course it is true that we are all entitled to our own opinion. (Not our own facts, however, Paul Ryan.) I suspect, however, that people who tenaciously cling to their own opinions may not be easily swayed by the truth...

Whenever we catch a GOP/Republican/Conservative/TeaBagger in a LIE we can post:
(This should become even more popular than "Bend it like Beckham", given how man more GOP/Republican/Conservative/TeaBagger LIARS there are versus soccer players world-wide. Can't throw a dead cat without hittin' a Lyin Ryan!)
I love all the socialist advocates calling out Ryan for Lying!!! Gee, each time their Prince of Marxism, Odumbo, opens his friggin' yap he lies like a mfkr.. you'd think they'd be more concerned about wiping the diarrhea from Oblahblah's lips, but it's ok when commies lie... They're allowed to lie because it's in the freakin' genes... American Girl... I'm wondering which America you claim... South? Central?
Sadly, the truth doesn't seem to matter much to the American public. They seem more engrossed with talking points rather than discovering that what they are hearing are complete lies. I honor the office of President and respect the men that have been in it, whether I've agreed with their policies or not. For Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan to campaign and address the world with nothing but lies makes me sick for this country. President Obama is moving this country forward, slowly, but home sales are up, the DOW is up, and interest rates are low. I for one, do not want someone who flat out lies about his voting record in Congress to be anywhere near the office of President. And for those of you that do, shame on you.
4 more for 44
I agree, Layton. The new Republican party seems to be just fine with their nominees and their lies and deceptions. I really can't recall seeing anything like this in a long time. That party has been so taken over by an unethical and immoral bunch. We will all pay the price if Romney is elected.
O&Joe 2012
TAX RETURNS! TAX RETURNS! TAX RETURNS!
"Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro!" American dogs who demand to ride inside.
Most of the people who read articles such as this would not know the truth. they rely solely on the bias media and believe their lies instead of investigating for the facts. NBC only printed half truths. Obama did say he would save the plant but it was scheduled to close and did so before his election. It was another campaign promise he could not keep but promised just to get votes. Ryan told the truth about Obama not taking the advise of his own panel. The way Ryan voted on it does not make it a lie. NBC stayed true to form but in reality they really could not justify the claims of Ryan lying. Obama must go and the news media should start respecting America and quit taking political sides and report the real news.
The real intent and purpose of republicanism is, and always has been, "governmental and social thuggery". A tax evading President and a serial lying Vice President will not hinder this collective pursuit. Anyone who believes differently isn't a true republican. Any truth that cannot be rationalized to support a republican lie will be decreed itself a damn lie.
Mac===Talk about lies. Where are your facts to support your statements? My God you people are so vile. I guess Romney/Ryan have you running scared so out comes the true BS from the truly uninformed.
CLARIFICATION OF Bruce comment @ 1.3: (that he , uh, left out ) the "left" is good at that.
#1. THE FOX QUOTE YOU LEFT IS FROM one of Fox's LEFTIST CONTRIBUTORS...yes, the DO employ several Democrats on their staff, unlike MOST of the MSM, who employ far less conservatives...and they are kept quiet.
#2. RE: Closed plant... refer to Will@1.7 above for story about Obama's unkept campaign promise.
Three things I wanted to mention here:
The whole list of contradiction in what they say (what they want the public to hear) and what they actually do is mind boggling, whether it is promoting renewable energy, Science, education, fairness in taxes, enforcing environmental regulations, calling out the corporate criminals, etc. They are always on the side of the rich, wealthy folks who wants to have it all and all others to be subservient to them.
The Choice in this election couldn't be more clearer!!!
@Nash-Nari#1.11: You are spot on! They pull the wool over the eyes of the lesser minded then treat 'em like the trash they allow themselves to be. Damn shame. Best regards to you. Mac Forrester
What's amazing here is that the GOP seems to have just abandoned all pretense. They're openly saying that they want to push women back to the 1950s, they openly push for voter ID laws that will disenfranchise legitimate, registered voters because they know those particular people tend to vote Democratic, they don't care about facts ("I don't believe in evolution!" "Global warming is a worldwide hoax and conspiracy!" "We won't let this election be dictated by fact-checkers!"), and they will brazenly lie and know that it won't turn off their base at all. In fact, these people REVEL in it.
Simply breathtaking to behold and I cannot believe how toxic the political "process" has now become.
As for Ryan's speech of lies, honestly, how badly do you have to twist the truth to get basically the entire press corps down on you, including perennial GOP cheerleader Fox News?
Fox News: "Cow dung flowed from Ryan's mouth."
WP editorial: "Paul Ryan's breathtakingly dishonest speech"
Esquire Magazine: On RNC Opening Night, Republicans Dare to Build a Lie
Bloomberg: Paul Ryan’s Hypocritical Attack on Barack Obama
The New Yorker: The Paul Ryan Speech: Five Hypocrisies
As I've read, the Republicans don't have to win the election; they just have to get it close enough to steal. Watch closely, folks. These guys will stop at nothing to get back into power.
Truth be told, most opinions cast in comment sections such as these are largely issued by folks who won't take the time or trouble to go vote!
I wonder why they don't have a poll on that...
did you vote last election?
will you actually vote this election?
do you have legal documentation for proof of ID at your local voting poll site?
If elected, Romney/Ryan will run a highly secretive White House, more secretive that any other in anyone's memory. Mitt Romney is actually very uncomfortable around the news media when it comes to explaining anything he's asked about, so it's been suggested in a leak from all the private talk amongst his closest supporters, that its a pretty safe bet he will severely restrict the Freedom of the Press with the help of his hand-picked or appointed Advisers.
...And just my opinion, and I may be wrong, but I suspect they will vet their White House Spokesperson to insure he can tell nonstop, plausible lies and distortions to the Press, and convincingly mislead the public with a straight face.
So ...with Mitt in the Oval Office, conspiracy theorists may actually start having some real validity to their normally absurd-sounding, fearful claims.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Mitt Romney To Donors: I Would Explain My Energy Plan, But Reporters Are Here
WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney started to lay out his energy plan at a Tuesday event, but because there were reporters in the room, he decided against doing so.
During a Houston fundraiser, Romney told a room of about 125 donors that he planned to unveil his comprehensive energy plan this week. He said his proposal will specifically relate to fossil-based fuels. But then, he said no more.
"I know that we have members of the media here right now, so I'm not going to go through that in great detail," Romney said, according to a pool report from the event.

Can you back up your initial statement which you offered up as fact? I'm thinking you're just pulling it out of your butt, personally, but if you can provide even peripheral research that validates the assertion that "most" comments on news stories such as this are made by people who don't bother to vote, I'll certainly apologize.
I'm betting that won't be necessary, though. :)
I just love that a guy who has been on the House Budget committee and has been Chairman since 2011 has the gumption to talk about how bead the deficit has gotten, and how nothing is getting done in Washington. Now after failing to do his job for 5 years, he thinks he deserves getting a promotion to VP. Not this year! Little Lyin' Ryan!
I also think its hilarious that you see so many "Women Love Ann" signs at the RNC. No matter how many love Ann, none seem to love Willard.
lmao. Notice how the Tweets calling out Lyin' Ryan have more substance than the Tweets supporting Lyin' Ryan. I'm really not surprised that the GOP voters aren't swayed despite Ryan lying in his speech. After all: the GOP won't be affected by FACT CHECKERS.
Bunch of bumbling idiots. So glad RNCircus 2012 is over!!
Heres a little somthing I found on Foxes web site
Paul Ryan’s speech in 3 words
By Sally Kohn
Published
August 30, 2012
FoxNews.com
1. Dazzling
At least a quarter of Americans still don’t know who Paul
Ryan is, and only about half who know and have an opinion of him
view him favorably.
So, Ryan’s primary job tonight was to introduce himself
and make himself seem likeable, and he did that well. The personal parts of the
speech were very personally delivered, especially the touching parts where Ryan
talked about his father and mother and their roles in his life. And at the end
of the speech, when Ryan cheered the crowd to its feet, he showed an energy and
enthusiasm that’s what voters want in leaders and what Republicans have been
desperately lacking in this campaign.
To anyone watching Ryan’s speech who hasn’t been paying
much attention to the ins and outs and accusations of the campaign, I suspect
Ryan came across as a smart, passionate and all-around nice guy — the sort of
guy you can imagine having a friendly chat with while watching your kids play
soccer together. And for a lot of voters, what matters isn’t what candidates have
done or what they promise to do —it’s personality. On this measure, Mitt Romney
has been catastrophically struggling and with his speech, Ryan humanized
himself and presumably by extension, the top of the ticket.
2. Deceiving
On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of
attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world
record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped
into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran
the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.
The good news is that the Romney-Ryan campaign has likely
created dozens of new jobs among the legions of additional fact checkers that
media outlets are rushing to hire to sift through the mountain of cow dung that
flowed from Ryan’s mouth. Said fact checkers have already condemned certain
arguments that Ryan still irresponsibly repeated.
Fact: While Ryan tried to pin the downgrade of the United
States’ credit rating on spending under President Obama, the credit rating was
actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling.
Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down
of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under
President George W. Bush. Ryan
actually asked for federal spending to save the plant, while Romney has
criticized the auto industry bailout that President Obama ultimately enacted to
prevent other plants from closing.
Fact: Though Ryan insisted that President Obama wants to
give all the credit for private sector success to government, that isn't what
the president said. Period.
Fact: Though Paul Ryan accused President Obama of taking
$716 billion out of Medicare, the fact is that that amount was savings in
Medicare reimbursement rates (which, incidentally, save Medicare recipients
out-of-pocket costs, too) and Ryan himself embraced these savings in his budget
plan.
Elections should be about competing based on your record
in the past and your vision for the future, not competing to see who can get
away with the most lies and distortions without voters noticing or bother to
care. Both parties should hold themselves to that standard. Republicans should
be ashamed that there was even one misrepresentation in Ryan’s speech but
sadly, there were many.
3. Distracting
And then there’s what Ryan didn’t talk about.
Ryan didn’t mention his extremist stance on banning all
abortions with no exception for rape or incest, a stance that is out of touch
with 75% of American voters.
Ryan didn’t mention his previous plan to hand over Social
Security to Wall Street.
Ryan didn’t mention his numerous votes to raise spending
and balloon the deficit when George W. Bush was president.
Ryan didn’t mention how his budget would eviscerate
programs that help the poor and raise taxes on 95% of Americans in order to cut
taxes for millionaires and billionaires even further and increase — yes, increase
—the deficit.
These aspects of Ryan’s resume and ideology are sticky to
say the least. He would have been wise to tackle them head on and try and
explain them away in his first real introduction to voters. But instead of Ryan
airing his own dirty laundry, Democrats will get the chance.
At the end of his speech, Ryan quoted his dad, who used
to say to him, “"Son. You have a choice: You can be part of the problem,
or you can be part of the solution."
Ryan may have helped solve some of the likeability
problems facing Romney, but ultimately by trying to deceive voters about basic
facts and trying to distract voters from his own record, Ryan’s speech caused a
much larger problem for himself and his running mate.
Sally Kohn is a Fox News contributor and writer.
Even Fox news called ryan a lier. wow
Voucher boy ryan is a psycopathic liar and a lapdog for those two corporate whore koch brothers. He seemed to leave out some important facts out of his speech like the one where he used a socialist program like SS to put himself through college. Wow voucher boy is a socialist??? And now that same hypocrite wants to end Social Security for anyone under the age of 55?? And wants to give all of the money saved from that to his one percenter "job creator - wink, wink" buddies as more wealthy welfare tax break entitlements so they can hide it in Swiss and foreign tax havens so they do not have to pay taxes????? vulture and voucher are flippin delusional if they think any rational American would even entertain such folly. These jackazzes are raping middle class America and not even attempting to hide it.....good luck with that plan!!!!!!
And ryan keeps lying about how he has always been a deficit hawk.....WHAT?????? He voted for every single budget busting unfunded bill the shrub and cheney could muster up from 2000 - 2008. EVERY ONE including two unfunded wars and Medicare part D that were all funded by borrowing money from the Chinese producing a 11 trillion dollar deficit at the end of the shrubs term. Now we have a Democratic president who has to clean up the disaster/depression the republicans left him and ryan has the audacity to suddenly claim he is a budget/deficit hawk????? The gop hypocrisy has no bounds........
1.9 collapsed for what reason? For using the word vile? Or for using the abbreviation BS? Or maybe this liberal site does not like the truth.
Poor poor Will. Our facts and truth outweigh yours. Simple as that. Obvious to a majority of reasonable thinking americans. You'll just have to live with it. Don't be so insecure. Just because the republican leadership is lame, doesn't mean you have to be.
Republican leadership sold the party out the first day of this administration. You need to replace them. ALL of them. They have not done a damned thing positive for this country in OVER a decade!
Wow. Another Republican LIAR. Color me surprised.
Well, this shouldn't surprise anyone. At the last election, the Mormon Cult was nothing more than a Laughingstock Cult to the GOP. Remember? It wasn't that long ago. The Republican Party said it couldn't have a mormon candidate becuase that just didn't square up with the fundamental values of most Americans and the GOP.
WHOOPS! What happened? What happened to their VALUES??
Suddenly, their leader is a Magic Underwear Mormon Cultist? A man who uses his cult to hide behind in order to avoid serving his country in the military. (There's a new one for Right Wingers -- this is the first presidential election in my lifetime that they weren't screeching and shrieking about military service being a KEY PART for presidential office... gee folks, what happened to THAT talking point??)
And -- nothing about VALUES. They sold theirs in order to have a cultist who believes in a god that he is convinced places critical value on people wearing Magic Underwear. Those who do are the Chosen Ones who will get a special place in heaven. Those who don't are less than, and won't have a seat at god's table. that is what every mormon, including Romney, thinks of every non-Mormon. Anything else is a complete fraud. Republican or not, he knows (in his mind) that every non-Mormon is a much lesser person than he is in god's eyes. And these right-wing idiots follow him around, mouth open, tongue hanging down, droll pouring out one side, and not a thought of their own -- and they don't want to know or acknowledge that this is exactly how Mittens views each one of them: LESS THAN.
The GOP has no strident, consistent values. They sell their values for a dime. Their main cause is actually their anti-gay, anti-female, pro-BuyBull social agendas. they could care less about the economy -- why else would they vote for a cultist whackadoo who hasn't given anyone even ONE PLAN for addressing the future of this country, our economy, jobs, the deficit... NOTHING!
What a HOUSE of CARDS.
After having followed 13 presidential elections, I can't ever recall the posturing and lies that this election has evoked. Say anything, promise anything, sling anything. So little is true, so much of it just platitudes and out of context gibberish.
Consider this voter utterly alienated by the candidates.

Ryan is too stupid and too arrogant to be VP. Didn't he know that the lies he told would be exposed? I guess he figured that it really didn't matter - all he had to do is get on stage, tell his lies and the right-wing lemmings in the audience - live and at home - would just swallow it hook line and sinker.
The Romney lies about welfare appear to be working, maybe Ryan figured, what the heck....
KimH - What surprises me about Paul Ryan's speech aside from the blatant lies and pandering - my husband who is a former Republican and did not want to watch this speech stood listening - and made the comment
"Wow - he sounds like a high school Class Valedictorian - strike that Class Valedictorian's are better"
Barbara - give your husband a high-five and/or hug from me. I've always thought that Mitt Romney's campaign seemed more aligned with running for Student Body President rather than the President of this great Nation. Ryan is just the side-liner to Mitt's incredible desire to win an office of which he has absolutely no qualifications for. He lied about Bain, stunk at Governor, and took federal monies to help with the Olympics and lied about that. Mitt has aligned himself with the Koch's and Sheldon Adelson who want a President they own. Mitt Romney is more than happy to be bought by his fellow millionaires to obtain his crown.

The Republicans talk about entitlements. Romney feels that he is entitled to be president. He and his cronies are so mega rich that they can just say what they want and do what they want and essentially buy the presidency. What is ironic to me is that their base is buying into it, and the ironic part is that they are going to pay the price, too, if Romney gets anywhere near the WH.

Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD!
"We've got your back, Mr. President!"
Dal,
Great link. I bet this particular bit stuck in the craw of many of FoxNews daily readers:
That's all you need to know about the Romney/Ryan Campaign!
DR JBA - You've probably been around as long as I - I heard the same crap from Sir Ronnie - who the RNC honored tonight who started our downward spiral
Maybe you weren't listening but I was - and I was running charts how money was being siphoned off from State Governments - how Unions were being busted - and how the War Hawks where taking control - plus emptying the insane asylums - because they were defunded
Did I live in a vacuum or did you?
I can't wait for the Presidential debates where Romney/Ryan lies will be exposed. If someone lies this blatantly either they think the people who they are lying to are ignorant or they just don't care, cause they will say anything to accomplished what they want and that's scary, but I'm not worried cause they don't have a change in hell of winning. Obama/Biden "2012"
no kiddin' lu.... Romney's gonna get slaaaaaaaammed. Obama is by far a better speaker and has more ammo. Romney lies, cheats, and has no plan for this country. He's the one supplying his enemy with firearms to shoot him down! Mittens/Lyin Ryan 2012 can't make achieving a 2nd term any easier for President Obama.
Obama/Biden 2012!
"I know that General Motors received some bad news yesterday, and I know how hard your governor has fought to keep jobs in this plant. But I also know how much progress you've made -- how many hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles you're churning out," Obama said. "And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years."
If the above quotation is correct, then Mr Ryan's claim that he 'remembers Obama saying 'he'll keep that plant open,' seems to reflect the same type of memory that Rmoney has regarding what taxes he's paid; with memories like that, who needs Alzheimer's?
Well, pal, what you say i certainly true of the Repugs. But you have to choose and if you don't vote, you are handing our country over to people you probably don't like and will create even more problems ofr those of us who do actualy take the trouble to vote, butaren't in the "winning," "majority," meaning those who are allowed to vote when the Repugs come out with their voter suppresssion schemes to steal yet another election like they did in 2000 with the connivance of the ppolitical whores on the U.S. Supreme Court. Obama shold win because most Americns believe what he believes, but the Repugs will stop at no dirty trick to get their way. They are a renegate political party as bad as the KKK or the Communists and ought to be outlawed as un-American. If you cop out, shame on you. You're no better than one of those voters who want to hand our country over to these fascists.
Turn Out the Lights the Party is over, say goodby to the DEMO America Party. The country is waking up, I woke up and what is amazing is my friends are waking up. We voited for hope and change now we are voiting for a CHANGE. Obama failed, and I was Duped , so I formally apologize America I will not make that MISTAKE again.
AZ is a solid red state. Obamba has no chance here.

No Brad, apparently stupid is as stupid does in that case. I can understand that people are disappointed in Obama, but at every turn he and his administration has been sabotaged. Republicans like Paul Ryan will get what's coming to them for their deception and lies. It is called karma. One day it is going to take an extra large chunk out of his hide. In the meantime, if ignorance is going to drive this election, then the best that the dems can do is to make sure that every available person gets to the voting booths on November 6th. If that means that we have to walk our neighborhoods and see to it that those who do not have transportation or a way to get to the polling booths gets a ride from ourselves or some sort of shuttle system made up of volunteers.
Jack102, learn to spell. It might help give you some credibility.
Anthony
One Man One Vote, DEMO Party loses mine this time, REBUILD America Party gets it. No matter how you spell it. Also 3 of my friends switched.
Jack 102 could spell every word perfectly and he would still sound stupid....
Randy
Nice, there goes the DEMOs out with a wisper
And I know many more than three who will vote for Mr. Obama. So, jack? Really, you think Romney isn't duping you? Tax returns? Offshore accounts? Slickly avoiding EVERY legitimate question asked of him?
And then Ryan and his voting record, and add the nonsense he made up for his speech..and you don't get that you are being duped? Oh, and it's whisper, not how you spelled it, and none of the people I know voting for Mr. Obama are going out in any whisper.
Notice how the Repubs never answer... They are pathetic.
Jack102: Sorry, you've really been duped this time. If R&R win, you can kiss the American Dream good-bye. These folks are completely beholden to the few billionaires out there letting the lies flow freely. Those billionaires want workers to be scared witless and submissive.
The target will be on your back, if you still have a job. Make no mistake, only the billionaires will be calling the shots.
If you want the middle class to survive, vote for democrats in Congress so our president can get back to his agenda: a strong middle class. Tell Congress to pass the Jobs and Transportation bills!!
Dee, Jack's a goner. He has bought into their lies hook, line, and sinker. He is a total tool and a pawn to those 1% and with Jack's help and all the other gullible Repubs, if Romney does win, we are all so painfully screwed.
I read the link that Sally wrote and the true lies and half truth will be found there. She is more guilty of this then anything NBC has printed in the article. I pray for the day that the media reports the news and not pick political sides. Americans could then make rational decisions as to who they would vote for. As for today Americans have nothing to gauge the truth by. This is all news media I am referring to.
@Will-1323339#3.13: Why not take the responsibility of learning about things yourself? Ever try reading a book? Maybe, begin with an historical account from the civil war up to now. Can help one understand a lot. Hell, I see posters on here who honestly do not know their ass from the exit end of a gun barrel, claiming all sorts of outlandish claptrap as historical fact. It is claimed, today is the time of instant information. It could be, but mostly It's a time of instantly sharing imaginings, lies, counter lies, and the building of preposterous propositions.
you woke up, when was that, you definately slept through the Bush years. Bush and his republicans friends endorsed outsourcing jobs to the tune of 33 million jobs, came up with deregulation of banks, that really went well. Proposed 2 to bail outs to stimulate the economy after it was already in the tank, so the peope who got the 800 dollars used it to pay off their overloaded credit cards, that really stimulated the economy. Oh yeah genious while you were sleeping, the republican house and senate with Bush spent the surplus Clinton left and put us trillions in debt, so sorry about that coma you were in and hope you sort this mess out better this time around-your poorly informed and that's being kind...go back to sleep....
Want to vote against your own interests? If we're moronic enough to vote Romney and Ryan into power, most of this country will deserve everything bad that will come their way. ..and you will have never seen the wealthy so joyful and content in the midst of so much anxiety among the general population.
We have jack up there who voted for hope and change - call you out you voted for McCain so stop your lying and leave us alone
Go to sleep little boy and let the big boys and girls fix this economy - after we vote all of the "Welfare Slugs" out of Congress
Sorry that McConnel - supreme draft dodger should have a seeing eye dog at his side should possibly fall off of one of his bridges - then again he has a plane - whoop dee doo!
Ryan told the truth about the Janesville Plant and the lying leftist media continues to lie in order to support their lying Messiah, Hussein Obama
Fuel prices, the related slow sales of SUVs, and the economy affected the Janesville plant. In April 2008, GM announced that the plant would cut back full-time production to a single shift. Combined with an ongoing employee buy-out program, layoffs totaled around 750 jobs in July 2008.[9]
During GM's 2008 annual shareholder meeting on June 3, 2008, CEO Rick Wagoner announced that the Janesville assembly plant would close by 2010, along with three other GM factories, and could close sooner if the market dictated.[10] The cutbacks announced, along with other changes, were expected to save the North American division $1 billion per year starting in 2010.[11]
GM extended its annual summer shutdown an additional two weeks and planned another ten weeks of shutdown for the remainder of 2008 because of excess inventories of SUVs made at the plant.[12]
On February 13, 2008, Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama stated, "This can be America’s future. I know that General Motors received some bad news yesterday, and I know how hard your Governor has fought to keep jobs in this plant. But I also know how much progress you’ve made – how many hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles you’re churning out. And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years. The question is not whether a clean energy economy is in our future, it’s where it will thrive. I want it to thrive right here in the United States of America; right here in Wisconsin; and that’s the future I’ll fight for as your President."
In June 2008, a study by Steven Deller, a University of Wisconsin-Extension professor, indicated that the plant's closure could result in a ripple effect for the county. Based on a number of estimates and 2007 employment data, his worst case scenario was the loss of 9,000 jobs and nearly half a billion dollars of labor income in Rock County.[13]
In October 2008, GM announced Janesville Assembly would be largely idled December 23, 2008 when production of SUVs would end.[14]
Assembly work continued at the Janesville Assembly until April 2009, completing the GM/Isuzu light truck partnership and then an additional 40 to 50 "skilled trade employees" worked to decommission the plant.
The plant was not closed down permanently in December 2008, it had been in semi-shut down due to over inventory of SUV's. Assembly work was continued until APRIL 2009

Good to know the real truth... too bad the distortions started by Ms Cutter have been plastered all over the liberal press, but what else should we expect. Keep posting this information so the truth can be exposed!
Helmetbreaker,
Did you not read the article? Or, do you not know how to read?
larry, one of the managers of the plant said the plant was essentially closed. the only reason it stayed open was because of the contract to build the remaining cars. The local people, the managers, the people who live in the town said it was closed. the fact that you continue to use Hussein makes it clear something else is going on with you. When the people who worked at the plant and the town says it was closed, there is no lie by the President. What we all continue to wonder is if the president has such a horrific record that you say he does..why the need to lie about anything, anything at all? Haters like you will never be convinced, partisans won't either, but i have a republican family who were absolutely mortified at the blatant lies..the Simpson-bowle lie, the medicare lies, the stimulus lie. you will never believe..but anyone who is not a partisan, not a hater, knows that ryan stepped in it big time.
Fox New CALLED RYAN A LIAR. OMG!!!!!!
@Larry Robinson:
I think the larger point is this, if President Obama hadn't worked to bail out GM and Chrysler, the closing date of Janesville or any other GM, Ford or Chrysler plant would have resulted. GM was saved. Chrysler was saved. Ford, Toyota and, to a lesser extent, Honda, Hyundai, BMW and Mercedes were saved. The latter point I derive from the number of suppliers whose balance sheets were tenuous before the downturn and would certainly have failed, at the peril of other manufacturers.
Our President, the President of the United States, saved as many jobs as he could. And, that a certain plant was, by the former leadership (?) of GM, destined to close, is not a surprise. By the terms of the bailout, GM's leadership made decisions about productive capacity and operations.
I am not concerned about what Mr. Ryan said. I am focused on the positive that our President and government did for the United States.
the larger point is that Obama promised to keep the plant open. In January 2009 he became the CEO of GM when the govt took ownership of it. He could have kept it open like he promised but he didn't/
Chrysler wasn't saved, it was sold to Fiat
Ford took no bailout money.
The auto manufacturers in the South actually grew because they aren't burdened with the UAW contracts and the bailout had nothing to do with them.
Our lying occupier in the White House has done nothing but destroy this country and I will be happy to see him slip away to the dust bin of history
Larry, I guess you don't understand that when you start a post with your cute sly little, "Hussein Obama" title you tell everyone who and what you are. That tells us what kind of person you are, why you really post (not because of anything he did, but you need to stick that middle name in so we will think he's foreign or scary or "other"), and for many I would say means to skip your post or laugh at your snotty little comment. Oh, and sorry, but you aren't telling the truth, either.
Even Ryan himself has contradicted your claim. Nice try though...
Larry it's Daimler-Chrysler. Do you know what the Daimler part means? Please get educated and stop being a fool.
Larry Robinson: Not that it will change your thinking at all, but Obama was sworn into office in January, 2009. The plant had closed 5 months earlier. At that point, that one plant would've cost too much to be reopened, but Obama saved the rest as he could. Romney would've let the entire industry fail.
Our president inherited a terrible mess created by Republicans. Notice Bush was not at the convention and nobody mentions him? There's a reason for that.
Romney doesn't want to run on his record as governor, because he was 47th in job creation and the highlight of his tenure was: OBAMACARE! for Massachusetts
The 111th Congress (2009-2010) was the most productive in generations, passing 386 bills promoted by the president. In 2010, Congress shut down, refusing any compromise.
The conservative Supreme Court headed by Scalia/Roberts has decided the framers' intent is irrelevant. They are attacking the Commerce Clause in favor of the Chamber of Commerce. They've invited corporations to sue the fed government any time regulations threaten their profit margins by making money free speech under the 1st Amendment--continuing treasonous acts, since each swore an oath to protect and uphold the Constitution.
In the ext three years, three on the Court will turn 80. If the extreme right in this country continues to pack the Court, America will never recover.
This nation was invaded by people determined to mine its riches for all it's worth, and what we're seeing now is the culmination of that ruthless greed without stint. First the native peoples were exterminated and the land chopped and sold. Now corporations seek a slave underclass, and the poorer we are as a nation, the better it will be for them, until in the next 100 years or so, they will kill our species altogether. FOR MONEY.
We have a $15 trillion debt, while $20-30 trillions, some of it Romney's, sits in offshore accounts to avoid taxation. Corporations are sitting on another $5 trillion, determined to avoid hiring until everything is deregulated again--and we suffer another collapse.
This is what the billionaires handling R&R's puppet strings want. And if you think folks like Sheldon Adelson, raking in billions from the gambling illness of poor people, have any qualms about it, well, I'd like to see how you're doing later in life when you're old and all the safety nets are gone.
We have collective problems no corporation will solve. No company will rebuild our infrastructure--there's no profit in that. Some jobs belong to government, and corporations will not do those things we as a people need done.
I don't understand how anyone with critical thinking skills can choose to believe that an entire industry is lying rather than believe that the candidate they've chosen is lying. I can see folks like you sticking their fingers in their ears and saying "la la la la la". You just don't want to hear the truth. Now really, think about it. Which do you think is more likely;
1. the entire news media is lying because they are all biased for liberals
2. This candidate and campaign are lying so that they can win an election.
Hmm you need to re-read your own quotation of what then candidate said about the Janesville plant. I do not see anything that suggests what you are claiming.
I detest Brarck Obama, but Paul Ryan scares the crap out of me and I don't undestand how so many Amercians can be so blind as to think Romney and Ryan are the answer to our sociopolitical problems!

It's from the opinion page, dummy, written by a staunch liberal that works for FOX.
Well, does that mean you have to call people names? Nice..really classy!
LR Lucas: Why do you "detest" the president? Glad R&R scare you, but Obama is right of center politically, exactly where The GOP was in the 1990s. He's also with the only party standing for the middle class, which is dying.
What is it that makes you "detest" him--other than the color of his skin? This is a straight question. I really want to know why 48% of this nation despises a man who's smart, graceful, gracious, decent, and witty. Other than his color, what is it??
I voted for Barack Obama. We simply cannot AFFORD another 4 years of his policies. I like him.. I think all 4 of the gentlemen in this race are decent, nice guys who believe wholeheartedly that there policies are the best thing for this country.
What we the voters need to decide is, what do we want our country to look like in 10 years? Go see Obama 2016.. then answer that question and WHO is going to get us there?
I'd like to hear the answer to that to. Can people really be that blind that they can't see Grover and his gang in all the lie's?
Helmutbreaker, it's an opinion written by a staunch liberal working at Fox News??????? That's the funniest comment I've read here all year. So tell me Helmy, are the Muslim, communist, socialist liberals starting to infiltrate Faux News??? OMG, Roger Ailes is probably hiding in the bunker at his office wimpering while anticipating those Muslim commies attacking any minute. I do hope you were trying to be comical with that comment because it was comedic gold. A staunch liberal working for Faux News.....you crack me up.
Love these comments...the Male Palin lies his buns off while looking Americans right in the eye, and the Republican response is "He's a politician, he's supposed to lie." There was a time when a politician was chastised over being caught in an obvious fabrication - now, it's 'the more the merrier'!
The Republican political machine thinks they can 'lie and buy' their way into Office, I don't think so!
And your reason for detesting Barack Obama is?????
There is no liberal side to Fox news. They tell them what to say and how to say it.

Not even close to the world record, Obama has a number than never be equaled. Too bad your source is an opinion page author who is totally far left. Try finding real sources!
Would you mind laying some of them out for us? WITH substantive FACTS please. You seem to be deriding the poster for their use of an opinion page as their reference (which I don't agree with either, but the facts in the opinion are dead on) so I would think that you will quite easily quantify your comments with "real sources", as you put it. Thanks and I know you'll have those for us immediately!
Dal-- You are blind to the truth. Number one a Fox News contributor wrote a letter. Number two Sally is the one who is telling half truths. At least Fox let her have her opinion which is more then all the other Media. To me the campaign speech Obama gave in Janesville was a promise even though the bias media says no. Obama knew the plant was scheduled for closure when he made this speech but made these comments. Now if I were and employee at that plant I would think Obama was going to save my job.
"And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years. The question is not whether a clean energy economy is in our future, it’s where it will thrive. I want it to thrive right here in the United States of America; right here in Wisconsin; and that’s the future I’ll fight for as your president."
That's a statement of belief that, with government help, the Janesville plant could remain open -- but not a promise to keep it open.
Seifert also referred us to Brendan Buck, a spokesman for the Romney-Ryan campaign. Buck cited a Detroit News article on the same speech, saying the article made clear that "it was the takeaway from the event that (Obama) was pledging to keep the plant open if he got his bailout."
The Repubs. on here don't have real sources. Us democrats can pretty much just go and post the Republican bills on here, and post links to Republican speeches. They have no facts just propaganda. I like listening to Michael Steele talk, because he laughs every time he tries to defend a Republican. I think that the former chairman is going to vote for Obama, because he sees what has become of today's Republican party. The party of "No!".....to everything, even their own ideas, because Obama wanted to put them in his bills.
Fox news only reports opinions, so no one should have an issue with Dal posting an opinion article from Fox. Then again, when Fox's lawyers have to evoke their first amendment rights to justify why they forced an anchor woman to report a lie, maybe opinions are more credible than Fox.

Ryan may have helped solve some of the likeability
problems facing Romney, but ultimately by trying to deceive voters about basic
facts and trying to distract voters from his own record, Ryan’s speech caused a
much larger problem for himself and his running mate.

much larger problem for himself and his running mate.

What Republicans Say:
Chris Christie - On Aug 28, 2012 Tampa, used the word "Truth" 16 Times in his keynote speech at the RNC convention. And he specifically said this…

The Repugs are the pathological liars in the room. Trouble is, they can't spell pathological nor do they understand it. Think it has to do with biiology labs and petrie dishes.
One thing is for sure Obama is not the answer. I like many others were fooled, but not this time, I know Obama is in way over his head. I don't think the Pelosi you have to elect him to find out speech will work. We know him now. No Jobs, No Housing market, Gas prices unreal, This guy is a Jimmy Carter.
Gas prices were higher under Bush. A man as dumb as you is too stupid to put on his own pants, so my question for you is, who puts on your pants? (Maybe you could get a job if you were actually informed - companies are looking for people, not sheep. Baah, baah, baah.)
Romney is OWNED BY KOCH BROTHERS oil barons. LOL. Gas prices will skyrocket
Jack, take your head out of the sand and get educated. You are making statements that only show your ignorance as to what is really going on in this country. The housing market is finally making a strong comeback, gas prices cannot be blamed on Obama, that is called speculation. Blame that crap on Wall St. They are like a bunch of bookies who make bets on what fuel prices will do in the near and distant future. And if you were really interested in being educated and informed you would actually read the article that you are so moronically commenting on.
Oh, seriously, jack and Helmet just need to go pick up their paychecks. You hit the talking points nicely...lol.
I guess the fact that the Republicans made a pact ON DAY ONE to go against ANYTHING that the President was for means nothing to you?! How could anyone make things happen with those type of Obstructionist. BUT, even with their obstructionism, he was still able to get a great deal done! Imagine how much better our Country would be if they hadn't! Please don't try to make us believe that you once were FOR Mr Obama, because if you WERE you would be incensed at the way the Republicans have stopped what YOU obviously wanted to happen happen! Also, you would have enough curiosity to find out the TRUTH! BTW-this is SOME of what the POTUS did, even WITH the Party of NO going against EVERYTHING he was for: Now don't just look at the different subjects, go a step further and look at the "REF" (references) that substantiate the claims. If you can go through even 1/3 of the categories and come back and STILL say that Obama is over his head, well...
For those who detest Obama because of GAS PRICES--NEWSFLASH! The American presidency has nothing to do with the price of gas. We import most of our gas. On the other hand, Obama has opened up more land to oil drilling than Bush did, so where are you really coming from?
Gas is a global commodity. We're competing with other nations to buy gas that's in finite supply. China now demands more and more gas, as its almost 4 billion people enter middle class. This is the law of supply and demand. In fact, our gas prices are artificially low because our government subsidizes Big Oil--they don't need it. We should be paying $14 per gallon.
If we were, we'd soon have far better batteries than lithium-ion for cars, and far better public transportation. The oil and gas way of life must fail--we all know supplies are dwindling.
Big Oil is buying all the patents on new, clean energy so nobody can use them. But you know what? If we don't plan like, yesterday, for the end of oil and gas, our entire civilization will shut down cold when it occurs--as it must.
So why are you all sticking your heads in the sand on this? We're supposed to be the innovators, the inventors--why are you stopping us and making us fall behind all other countries??
jack - one lie is enough - you never voted for Obama so just shut up
Tampa, Aug 30, 2012: at a fundraiser during the Republican National Convention, GOP strategist Karl Rove said, "We should sink Todd Akin," and followed that by stating, "If he's found mysteriously murdered, don't look for my whereabouts!"

Dee: The first part of your statement is true the last is not. Tax breaks given to big oil doesn't lower the price of gas it only increases the bottom line.
Again, the Obama campaign twisted the words and distorted the facts about Ryan's speech on Simpson-Boyles and the GM plant closure. It was Ms. Cutter again, this time tweeting on Twitter with incorrect information. Ryan clarified his comments today, logically, but that won't hit the press on CNN, MSNBC and all the liberal press sites! Of course, the Democrat machine quickly took to the airwaves fanning the flames. Yes, the plant shut down after the 2008 election but before Obama took office. Obama knew the closure was coming but promised it would not be closed for good and would be there 100 years from now! And yes, Ryan voted against Simpson-Boyles because a tax increase and continued deficit spending was included. Many of the concepts of Simpson-Boyles are incorporated in Ryan's plan.
He "clarified" more remarks today? These d-bag lying Republicans are always having to "clarify" things because they are scum, period. Keep swallowing all that GOP come, you pitiful, moronic little tool.
Rock it, Bruce!!! Awesome!
TAX RETURNS! TAX RETURNS! TAX RETURNS!
O&Joe 2012
HelmetBreaker: Stupid moniker. Candidate Obama expressed hope the plant could survive. He didn't promise anything about that one plant.
You can't hear well or read English, so there's no difference for you, I get that.
Yet you have an entire political party hiding its platform and their actual agenda--and that's ok?
Dee, since you are so smart I know you won't have any problem explaining to Nancy Pelosi why presidents have no control over gas prices.
It's called " walking back" or taking back the LIE. They spout the BIG LIE , to a major audience and then take it back or " clarify" it when called on the lie, to a much smaller audience. So therefore the majority heard the lie and not the correction. For instance the RNC audience of millions, walking it back , audience of perhaps 1000's.
If he'd tell the truth to begin with he wouldn't need to clarify. His speech at the convention was probably seen by 50 times as many people as will read his clarification and that's the reason he made claims he knew wasn't true.
When has a republican ever told the truth about anything ... I mean ever
Amunaka
Why not tell us how much better off we are after 4 years of Obama. For 2 years he had the house and senate. He gave us the Obamacare TAX. Solendra, on and on are you better off. I see empty malls, high gas prices, closed stores. I woke up, I not voting for him again. I want to feel like an American again. Work hard and reap my rewards, not give them to the govt.
You know our country is screwed when its voters think federal-level governance works like Sim City.
Why won't Obama just lower the taxes and build more industrial zones? It's so simple!
Idiots.
To..jack""""
See what I mean...
Jack,
We are better off. Obama has created over 4 million NET PRIVATE SECTOR JOBS in his 3 1/2 years in office. Already he has created more than Bush. He did this despite the Right filibustering every job bills he has introduced.. We were losing 750,000 jobs per month when Obama took office..Yes, we are doing better..And this is also despite the Right cutting out support to the states which has cause us to lose over 600,000 public sector jobs..Every other Congress has helped States when face with a similiar situation..But, not these fools in the House..We certainly can't let Obama succeed can we? Who cares if the Country and it's people get screwed..We must win the next election, right? You detest me..
Go pick up your troll check, jack. I am better off and so are many people I know. I have a small business and we are better off there, too. You are full of it. And if you want blame shared for things not getting done, how about looking at Congress the Useless? Oh wait, you have an agenda that isn't related to facts.
When a republican said that you are an ignorant @!$%#.
Selective memory is dangerous (by the way Paul Ryan you were on the panel and voted against your own recommendations)...what is even more dangerous, when confronted with the facts, the Republicans blame the liberal media. Don't we the people deserve some honesty and truthtelling? I am struggling with the ethics of the Republicans...lie to get what you want and big business is good. Hmmmm...I think I'll take my chances with what I know...the GOP scares me to death right now!!
Republicans, especially during this Obama administration, have been voting against their own bills and recommendations. If a democrat agrees with a Republican, then the Republican will vote against it. The Republican leaders made it quite clear that they would do whatever it takes to make Obama a one term president. So, if you Republicans have anyone to blame for where this country is it is your party leaders because they took the lead in screwing this country. They didn't do enough damage while Bush was in the WH, so why not go for broke.........literally. Why not? They are all multimillionaires and none of what the rest of us are going through makes any god damned difference to you people!
Yeppers - the parade of ignorance continues unabated. Barack Obama is a center-right President who steered this country out of a GOP-induced death spiral. If the simpleton, knuckle-draggers in this thread had half of a brain or soul, they could search deeply within themselves and realize that their "hatred" of this great man (and he will definitely be seen a a great President in a historical context) is based on bigotry, pure and simple. He has accomplished a great deal despite being blocked by an immoral, war-profiteering political machine, and anyone who "hates" him must be blinded to the facts by their base emotions, and they themselves are more than worthy of hatred and disgust (another reason they are so angry - they can't get laid).
The death gasp of a dying DEMO America Party. Word on the street is obama is finished, No record to run on. No idea how to change it except RAISE TAXES AGAIN.
except that taxes are at a historical low, that all americans have had tax cuts. but facts, we don't need no stinking facts...we are the GOP..party of do nothing, block everything, lead us off the cliff then say why didnt he fix it quick enough.
Still staring up at the fading Obama posters?
"Word on the street" What are you some kinda gangsta? Obama has a record to run on, people such as yourself don't want to see the record of accomplishment because then you would actually have to admit that with the sh!t storm he was given we are lucky that we all aren't being sold off into slavery and being off shored to work in sweat shops in China and elsewhere. Your dear Republican party, if given the chance, will ultimately do just that to us. Those people, and it would seem many on this thread, would sell their mother's soul to the devil. I am ashamed to be in the same country with people that would so easily take food out of a poor child's mouth. You people are disgusting.
Haha...word on the street? What a silly thing to say unless someone is paying you to spread lies and rumors. Are you wandering streets and hearing words? How funny...lol. Tax isn't a dirty word, anyway. It's called revenue and sometimes it's needed. Go try to scare people somewhere else or listen to Fox.
When are you people going to get your act together. First you say Fox is nothing but lies but then you quote an article posted on Fox and worship it like the wandering Jews in the wilderness worshipped the golden calf and then you call them liars.
You liberals don't know whether you are coming or going. Why should we give you any credibility?
It truly amazes me how many posters on here claim to detest or hate our President, in 3.5 years he has tried to fix what took 8 years to get us into, two wars, nothing paid for ,tax cuts medicare part d, a economy in free fall, and the housing crash.
I would have preferred single payer, but the ACA covers millions of Americans with out insurance, helps parents cover their kids until 26.
The Romney/Ryan ticket wants to turn medicare into a voucher program, cut more tax's for the rich, and deregulate, it's all been done, how did we get into this mess in the first place.
Ruin's voting record and the Ryan plan speaks for itself!
Obama/Biden 2012 forward not back!
I thought he had the answers at least that is what he campaigned on. Obama had no answers, except raise TAXES. We gave him the House and Senate and what did he do shoved Obamacare TAX down our throat. Pass it to find out whats in it, give me a break. No JOBS, NO Housing Market, Gas Prices, Empty Malls. I truely thought he could do it, I WAS WRONG.
You have earned your check, jack. You can go watch Fox again now;)
jack102~~You are now definitely wrong. Obamacare was Romneycare and is a very good needed care, 4.4 million jobs created in 3 years, (more than G Bushs' 8 years, Housing market is rising very nicely after being in freefall the last 2 years of the Bush admin, the president, (including Bush) has no control over gas prices, consumer spending just rose to a 5 month high, the stock market has more than doubled, in Obama admin, (the market was lower when Bush left office than when he started,) If you accept facts, and you really thought he could do it, then you were RIGHT! If you WANT to be WRONG, then just keep denying facts.
The rest of those are questionable but the democrats own the economy and the housing crash. There is no way out of that. I know it just tears you libbies up but it is the truth. But I forgot, libbies can't handle the truth.
Here's some facts for you. The job loss did not start until democrats took over congress. Unemployment is still higher that it was at anytime Bush was in office. Clinton did have a national debt of 5.8 trillion when he turned over the presidency to George W. Bush.
And here's some facts for you. Revenue under Clinton exceeded expenses. We had zero deficit spending at the end of Clinton's term the remaining debt was carryover from Reagan. We had massive deficit spending under Bush. There's a difference between the deficit and debt. Who controlled congress had nothing to do with our massive spending. All of the increase was due to Bush's initiatives. 1.8 trillion for TARP and stimulus which included 400 billion every year for tax cuts, 300 billion every year for his drug plan and 2 unfunded wars. You can claim congress supported Bush's invasions but it was clearly Bushs wars and he who provided the proof they were justified. The only reason the unemployment rate under Bush didn't reach 10% is because he left office a few months too soon. It was his meltdown and the rate went from under 5% to 7.9% in 6 months and was increasing rapidly. As the economy was still operating on Bush's budget well into 2009 he was responsible.
OBAMA/ BIDEN When you want the truth. Romney you ask for his tax returns and he tells America to shut the hell up!
Romney, pleads the fifth for not showing his taxes!
Obama/Biden when you want your elected leader to tell you to go F**** your self.
@GreatGran-Romney tax records are a red herring what I worry about is how Obama is wasting my tax money of failed green energy but its not really about green energy its about crony capitalism for campaign donations. Give a lot and get a little back is Obama funding plan for re-election.
Enough of this easily skewed social media BS analysis. Karl Rove is yanking Comcast's chain no matter what the analysis is. Might as well just ask the Nigerian Scammers to take an online poll.
Why is anyone surprised about the Republicans? When a Democrat John Kerry registers his yacht in one US State rather than another for paying less US TAXES there was a hew and cry! Yet when one of Willard's donors has a party boat (yacht) flying a Cayman Islands flag avoiding ALL US taxes - there is silence from the Republicans
When Clinton has a BJ - the Republicans go ballistic - yet ignore the man leading the charge - having his BJ's in the DC parking lot - silence
When one of there own is caught in diapers with a pro - which is illegal - re-elected and silence from his constituents
When Paul Ryan rales against stimulus money and then takes it - silence
I have come to the conclusion that the Republicans are nothing but phoneys and fakes - it's okay for our guys to lie, cheat and steal but woe to any Democrat who missteps - because we who are holier than thou and will come and get you
How sad to be a hypocritre on all levels of life!
An independent voters view: Sorry got to be Obama/Biden don't trust repubs this year and don't even have to hear Romneys speech to finalize my decision.
I too, WAS an independent. However, I now say I will never again, in my entire lifetime, vote for any republican, teapartier, evangelical or conservative. They are all cut from the same cloth, selfish, greedy, liars, haters, and hypocrits
I'm going to check into this because as is common with haters of the Pres., lies are abundant and miss conceptions and turns and twist. You people will say anything but I'll check and get back to you, but I know I'm correct, and all you are acomplishing is what Democrats have know all along, Republicans lie and distort and will say anything to get what they want.
ozzy1957 - how easy it was to prove your statement a lie. Here's the trust. His response to why he didn't wear an American flag pin. "You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest. Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism." (Source: ABC News, Oct. 4, 2007.)
Ryan lives in a house of cards.
The Bush derangement syndrome has become a permanent condition for libtards. Ryan never said Obama CLOSED the plant - he did not keep his promise to ensure it remained open. Plus the plant DID stop production in 2009.
libtards? Hmmm. Why not just go for it Republicans. Step it up to Cootie Monsters.
Wow, a Bush defender. You must be so proud of yourself for defending a man who nearly destroyed this country. I guess you would call yourself a dyed in the wool Republican? I would call you a fool.
When you type "libtards" everything else you say is garbage. Just as calling Republicans names doesn't make Democrats look smarter, calling liberal silly names makes you look as if you have nothing else to say than a name.

It was the sub prime scandal and the unregulated derivaives market. Since you are such a genius why don't you explain how Bush put those policies in place. Bet you can't even if your life depended on it.
I am beginning to suspect all you so called liberals are right wing extremists from the 50s and 60s and want to force your form of "liberalism" down our throats.
AlaskaGirl-759554
It wasn't Bush dummy.
I don't think Ryan's point was to state that the GM plant closed on Obama's watch, the fact is Obama over-promised instead of telling the true, hard facts. Obama basically said, elect me and this plant will stay open. That is the way I took it.
However, if you read the Wiki article, you will see that it "completely ceased production in April 2009". When did Obama take office again? These left bloggers need to stop watching Al Not-so-Sharpton spewing his bs.
Wiki? You cannot be serious. Practically anyone can change information on there. Hell, Ryan probably changed the info himself!

How about CNN? -
BTW, CNN rated Ryan's statement Mostly true but incomplete.
Ryans intent was to mislead.
Fox News called RYAN A LIAR..OMG
FOX NEWS!!!!!!!!
Deceiving
On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.
Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/?fb_action_ids=10151189044597182&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=timeline_og&action_object_map=%7B%2210151189044597182%22%3A430876850304107%7D&action_type_map=%7B%2210151189044597182%22%3A%22og.likes%22%7D&action_ref_map=[]#ixzz254c4EVOK
Instead of concentrating on the truth, Ryan concentrated on spin with a heavy dose of blatant falsehoods. But then he's acknowledged his preference for "stock language" while writing legislation. Seems that's his approach to the truth. Just dig into the Republican playbook for stock language, be it truthful or not. Mostly not. Here's a guy that may be President, should Romney be elected and then suffer something that would elevate the VP. Do we want a far right-wing Paul Ryan as President? His record in the House is is an example of his ultra-conservative positions and his penchant for putting the Republican Party above the needs of the nation. Even a Fox News writer called him out for his half-truths and disingenuous comments. The partisans in the Tampa Forum may have been impressed...but then they were impressed with Sarah Palin and George Bush and Dick Cheney and...and...and...
Terence- So us "libtards" have a Bush derangement syndrome? What do you call the GOP/bagger refusial to even speak Bush's name, to denie what damage was done before President Obama took office.
The true derangement syndrome, T-pottiers and 24/7 faux noise and the GOP fighting recovery and every plan to get this country back on track, all to get the black man out of the WH.
The damage was done by CRA, a Carter/Clinton program humm. The damage was done by Fannie and Freddie, unregulated and protected and to this DAY unregulated and protected by Democrats hummm. The damage was done by sub-prime, not only protected, but PUSHED by Democrats hummm.
Why don't you do a little history check instead of throwing out FILTH please?
Bush warned in 2003, that's two thousand three if there are too many numbers for you to put together, that there WOULD be a financial crisis in this country if Fannie and Freddie weren't regulated. Chris Dodd BLOCKED the legislation in the Senate (since it take sixty votes to pass legislation in the Senate and Republicans have NEVER had sixty votes).
Notice what sixty votes by the Democrats in the Senate resulted in hummm? A "mandate" where for the FIRST TIME in the history of this nation you are being told by the Federal Government to buy a product or be fined. A "health care" program that STOLE over 700 billion dollars from Medicare to pay for it. A program that is going to cost almost 2 TRILLION taxpayer dollars at the latest estimate, but you were told it would NOT cost anything and would actually pay down our debt. A program where the President and EVERY Democrat LIED to the nation and said it was NOT a tax but a fine, and then argued in front of the Supreme Court that it was actually a TAX.
Too bad that Republicans couldn't get any of the MORONS that "represent" the Democratic party to vote for regulation of Fannie and Freddie in 2003. There probably wouldn't NEVER have even been a financial crisis if they had acted then instead of just blaming Bush when they got caught in their own support of FRAUD.

@Rick-312779#23.5: You, like Cheryl are a liar.
You like all the Newsvine libbies are full of sheet.
Obama went to that EXACT plant in 2008 and gave a speech where he said that if he was elected it would "stay open for a hundred years". Ryan did NOT lie about that at all. And Obama could have EASILY got that plant opened back up with his UNION BAILOUT.....ooops, I mean GM/Chrysler bailout, that STILL hasn't been paid back while the union gives itself $7000 bonuses for their recored profits. It does NOT matter that GM announced the plant was going to close, it was OBAMA who promised to keep it open.
What Obama said was "I believe if the GOVERNMENT is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need.....this plant will be here for another hundred years. I want it to thrive. I want it to thrive right here in the United States. I want it to thrive RIGHT HERE IN WISCONSIN...And that's the future I'll fight for as YOUR President.
Sounds to me like he was telling those plant employees that he was going to do something for THEM, doesn't it? Even the Detroit News reported that Obama had PLEDGED to keep the Janesville plant viable. The plant was closed down only ONE MONTH before Obama took office, despite this piece of garbage article that makes it sound like it has been shut down for almost a year before Obama was sworn in. How HARD would it have been for Obama to direct some of his "stimulus" funds to open the plant RIGHT BACK UP?
And the commission was formed by OBAMA, not Ryan. And it was OBAMA that said he would take their recommendations and then did nothing, NOT Ryan. Since Ryan did NOT put together the commission and NEVER said he would take ANY of their recommendations, where is it that Ryan is being dishonest at all?
This is just ANOTHER propoganda filled hit piece from the so called "journalists" (read that as Obama media shoe lickers) from NBC.
Ryan was COMPLETELY HONEST in what he said last night. EVERYTHING he said was the complete and utter truth.
Too bad that you on the left are doing you USUAL adding to what was said and making it sound like Ryan said something else. Why don't you go READ the transcript of the speech and see what Ryan said instead of reading this piece of FILTH from NBC?
NBCPolitics.com is just another DailyKos, full of twisted truths, false accusations, and out and out LIES in an attempt to get Obama re-elected.

You've had four responses which did not challenge one thing that you said. Sad.
to Cheryl-In his own words: part of ' if the GOVERNMENT is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need", don't you understand? It's obvious that this didnt happen BEFORE he became President..The fact that it closed down a MONTH before he became President is relevant, whether it was a month or a DAY, it was BEFORE he became President. Not sure where you got the article tried to make it sound like it was a year, anyone with intelligence could calculate, Dec 2008 to Jan 2009 equals a month! is CBS an Obama shoe licker too because there are PLENTY more that can be referenced? House and Senate leaders promised to hold votes on the committee's recommendations for budget savings if 14 of the commission's members agreed to the plan. Only 11 members, however, voted in favor of the plan. Ryan was one of the seven who voted against the final report, which would have theoretically cut $4 trillion from the federal budget over a decade. Now if you can REFUTE these FACTS, just say you hate Obama and NOTHING ANYONE could prove to you would make you think any differently! So delusional! You seem to be suffering from a severe case of hoof and mouth disease. You can't keep your hoof out of your mouth. lol
Cheryl: If your quote is accurate and i assume it is Obama didn't promise the plant would remain for 100 years but would do so only if the government which was under Bush at the time offered the support it needed. Bush's failure to give the support it needed caused the loss of these jobs. Thanks for clarifying. I thought Obama offered a guarantee the plant would remain for 100 years and clearly he only said if government offered the support it needed. Your quote just clarifies another distortion from the right.
you Democrats have the nerve to call Ryan a liar and not Owebama?
What about "NO new taxes for for those making under 250K a year?
instead we got Obamacare which has 19 tax and fee hikes and 7 of them directly affect those making less than 250K a year. Same with HR4646 which will be a 1% bank transaction tax on all deposits and withdrawals. Obama and company saw how much money banks make with various checking transaction fees and they got jealous!
So it doesn't matter how much you claim Ryan stretches the truth about the GM plant already set to close, or debt down grade because the Republicans refused to allow higher and higher debt ceilings without any cost controls. You only have to look at the White House for the biggest liar of them all!
Brent, you are right. We short changed Ryan. He's a Demon who lies.
He's an Ayn Rand disciple, what do you expect? He showed in his speech last night just how devout he is in his belief of her philosophy.
I love Mitt Romney. I wish he picked another V.P but he had to pick someone to please the conservative base. I will not be voting for Obama again because he turned out to be a total bust!
Yeah, I do believe that Romney would see to it that unemployment went down. He'd also make sure that all water supplies near Natural gas reserves are polluted, the air downwind of coal power plants would be unbreathable. Most of the endangered species would go extinct & all of the coastal cities on the planet would be submerged under 50' of water, but that's ok. At least we'd all have jobs - well at least those of us who don't need to breath. Anyway, all the really important people can just buy condo's in Antarctica...

When did you and the rest of the liberals stop using electricity? When did you all park your cars? When did you stop farting methane into the air and breathing CO2 into the atmosphere?
Obamas tax pledge began, "under my plan" which clearly was referencing his tax plan. As he was campaigning on adding a $1 a pack cigarette tax and most smokers earn less clearly he was only talking about who would be affected by his income tax proposal. Just another right wing distortion.
Under his income tax plan only those making over 250K a year would see any increase. That's true.
