Romney's RNC speech: A chance to reshape campaign arc

Brian Snyder / Reuters

Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney watches television coverage of the Republican National Convention with five of his grandchildren in Tampa on Aug. 29.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Mitt Romney will deliver the biggest speech of his political career on Thursday, when he faces an opportunity to reshape the arc of the presidential campaign on the final night of the Republican National Convention.

Romney will accept his party's nomination in a nationally televised address. It's a natural inflection point in this election cycle, and an opportunity to re-posture himself heading into November.

And Romney will look to accomplish just that by better familiarizing voters with his business career and personal life, while also making the case to eject President Barack Obama from office.

NBC's Tom Brokaw speaks with Brian Williams about Mitt Romney's upcoming RNC speech, which is expected to be a mix of personal, philosophical and policy questions.

First Thoughts: Mitt's moment

Much of the convention so far has built toward this culminating moment, when Romney would formally become the GOP nominee.

This speech by the former Massachusetts governor will cap years of campaigning to secure the nomination, a goal that eluded Romney's father, a former governor of Michigan whose legacy has long colored his son's approach to politics.

Tonight's nationally televised address also concludes a three-day effort by Republicans -- shortened by a day due to Hurricane Isaac -- designed to paint Romney and the GOP as forward-looking and inclusive, if sharply different from Obama and his party.

Tim Pawlenty took to the podium Wednesday night to cheer on his former rival. Pawlenty joins Andrea Mitchell Reports to talk about the RNC thus far.

Among the most prominent and best-received speakers this week have been women, Latinos, African-Americans, and relatively younger figures in the party, like vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, who delivered a rousing, conservative speech on Thursday night.

"What’s missing is leadership in the White House. And the story that Barack Obama does tell, forever shifting blame to the last administration, is getting old," Ryan said. "The man assumed office almost four years ago – isn’t it about time he assumed responsibility?"

Watch Wednesday night's speeches here

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, in his keynote speech on Tuesday, also delivered stinging criticism of Obama in his trademark brash style of delivery.

But some of the convention's highest points have been softer moments, like Condoleezza Rice's reflection on Wednesday about overcoming Jim Crow laws to become secretary of state.

Would-be first lady Ann Romney's Tuesday night speech also attempted to cast a humanizing glow on her husband, portraying him as a dedicated husband and father who helped guide their family through adversity.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is expected to deliver an optimistic message at the RNC, emphasizing America's ability to recover from its economic difficulties and highlighting his success at Bain Capital. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.

"I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a 'storybook marriage.' Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called 'MS' or 'Breast Cancer,'" she said.

"A storybook marriage?  No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage," Mrs. Romney added.

Whether Romney can capture a similar moment – akin to Bill Clinton's "I still believe in a place called Hope" speech in 1992 – is one of the major tests for the Republican nominee-in-waiting this evening.

Closing the gap with Latino voters and women is an undertaking for the Republican ticket this fall that might take a longer time to achieve. The more immediate task involves linking Romney's overall theme of leading an economic turnaround to a sense of empathy for millions of voters, many of them in swing states, who have been hardest-hit by the slow recovery.

NBC's Tom Brokaw talks about the Romney-Ryan ticket and Condoleezza Rice's future in politics.

Romney also faces a narrower task in appealing to swing voters here in Florida's I-4 corridor, prime battleground territory in the state stretching from Tampa and Orlando that could determine Florida's votes in the Electoral College.

Romney would face a difficult path getting to the 270 electoral votes he needs without Florida, requiring him to win every single one of the other states on NBC's battleground map.

So far all we've heard is lies from Republicans at the convention. So, I'm betting it will be no different from Romney himself.

Romney will give an average speech tonight, which Republicans will blow up to be the best speech ever, and even better than Reagan.

I have to admit, I'm tired of popcorn, and look forward to a more truthful convention for the Democrats.

Do we want someone to push the red button at 3 a.m, who cannot remember what he said the other day, and if he still agrees with it?

Do we want a tax dodger with admitted secrets, even before the start gun goes off?

Do we want someone whose claim to fame is pioneering outsourcing, denies taking government money, thinks it is OK to American workers train their Chinese counterparts to take their jobs, or have workers build a stage for 3 days - only to announce that they're all fired - from that stage?

All of these things are just scratching the surface, and our media knows it.

Romney's speech will focus on "Why its important to continue the redistribution of wealth from the lower/middle class to the rich and corporations".

The Romneys.. Proof that cash does not turn trash into class.

The 'Business is my private business, so keep your nose out' response:

Will not wash, especially when you are applying to be President of the United States.

Releasing your tax returns are just baby first steps. It is an established US custom in a very serious process.

Don't try to re-write it.

Mitt Romney is rather lucky, given the current state of the Republican party and its message, the only thing he'll have to worry about is if his wife prefers to sleep with the horse on Nov. 7.

I don't care for him personally...but it sure beats the hell out of the alternative!

The Federal Bailout That Saved Mitt Romney

Government documents prove the candidate's mythology is just that

Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-federal-bailout-that-saved-mitt-romney-20120829#ixzz2542ZJRd2

Mitt Romney likes to say he won't "apologize" for his success in business. But what he never says is "thank you" – to the American people – for the federal bailout of Bain & Company that made so much of his outsize wealth possible.

According to the candidate's mythology, Romney took leave of his duties at the private equity firm Bain Capital in 1990 and rode in on a white horse to lead a swift restructuring of Bain & Company, preventing the collapse of the consulting firm where his career began. When The Boston Globe reported on the rescue at the time of his Senate run against Ted Kennedy, campaign aides spun Romney as the wizard behind a "long-shot miracle," bragging that he had "saved bank depositors all over the country $30 million when he saved Bain & Company."

In fact, government documents on the bailout obtained by Rolling Stone show that the legend crafted by Romney is basically a lie. The federal records, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal that Romney's initial rescue attempt at Bain & Company was actually a disaster – leaving the firm so financially strapped that it had "no value as a going concern." Even worse, the federal bailout ultimately engineered by Romney screwed the FDIC – the bank insurance system backed by taxpayers – out of at least $10 million. And in an added insult, Romney rewarded top executives at Bain with hefty bonuses at the very moment that he was demanding his handout from the feds.

No President in the modern era has ever been elected by showing only one year of tax returns. I see no reason to start now.

Can you imagine the Republicans saying to Obama, "Never mind, Mr. President, we don't need to see your tax returns." ?????

Romney's campaign slogan, "What you don't know can't hurt me!"

Dear Mitt,

Here are ten things I would like for you to address in your speech tonight.

1. What is "retroactive" retirement?

2. What is the real reason you won't release your tax returns?

3. How many American jobs did you outsource overseas?

4. How many Americans did you put out of work?

5. How many viable American companies did you destroy in the interest of quick profits?

6. What do you plan to do with Social Security?

7. What do you plan do to with Medicare/Medicaid?

8. What is your stance on abortion and abortion rights?

9. Do you really believe (per your religion) that when you die you will be given a planet to rule over as a god?

10. Did the LDS Church produce those "I'm a Mormon" ads to help your Presidential bid in violation of the Constitutional separation of Church and State?

I'll look forward to your response.

The only thing that is even worth pointing out is that "dork" is an appropriate name for one sick son of a b!tch.

@Skippy -- I thought you were above question 9 & 10 -- 9 especially. Watch the ads for yourself and you will hear and/or see who produced them. Answer to question 1 is "leave of absence" which is common in the corporate world if you were half as smart as you think you are. Question 2 answer is -- I'll release what is required. I would also like to see Obama answer the rest of your questions and I could add a few more about his childhood, his marxist mentoring, his college application and transcripts, etc. etc.

How do you call a deep rut an arc??? Oh, that's GOP speak.

Justanotherveteran - EVERY Presidential candidate in modern time has released their tax returns. Why are you suddenly against it? Is it because you, like most of the country, suspect Romney is much less honest that he declares himself to be? All the more reason we should be seeing them - as we have EVERY other candidate. We don't change the rules just because Romney suddenly doesn't want to play by them.

Even Republicans are calling for him to release them.

Then why does this only apply to him?

Every other presidential candidate in the past thirty years has released multiple years of tax returns. It is, in fact, our business, especially when he's running based on his so-called business experience.

Read the Rolling Stone article about Mitt. It's very informative.

Mitt Romney will deliver the biggest speech of his political career on Thursday, when he faces an opportunity to reshape the arc of the presidential campaign on the final night of the Republican National Convention.

But he won't. He won't because at heart he is what he is -- a soulless, conscienseless representation of the Banksters who took down our economy in the Great Recession. His Vulture Capitalism bribes company officers to take golden parachutes so the vultures can load their companies up with debt and management fees. He represents a reality that discards building things of value as his father did in favor of looting and pillaging...Conservatives blithely refer to it as "creative destruction", but in reality it's only creative in the sense that it creates a bigger bank balance for me by destroying your future.

This is represented in his proclivity for flip-flopping. Mitt the Human Weathervane doesn't do this because he doesn't know what he believes, he does it because his only belief is in WINNING, at whatever cost to others.

Is that the person we want to lead "We the People"?

Dorkquist - What is wrong with having some money in offshore and swiss accounts? If I had Mitt's money, I would do the same. It's called diversification. Plus, your money is not that safe here in the states, (think Obama buddy John Corzine stealing 2 billion dollars of segregated customer funds and not even getting a slap on the wrist). Plus, there are plenty of democrats and democratic organizations that have offshore accounts, including DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz.

But then, Mitt isn't half the man his father was. And, since his honest father wasn't elected, why should we even consider electing someone who has demonstrated is lack of honesty? Remember, after John McCain saw Romney's tax returns - he chose Palin!

Notice how at the RNC they mentioned as one of their goals "closing the gap on the 'likeability' of Obama". And you know why they have to go quite so negative along with the money the super PACs and the US Supreme Court's botched decision in Citizen's United allowed for? Because on a very basic, and very human level Romney has about the same "likeability" of a wet blanket. Romney's biggest problem here has nothing to do with Obama, and everything to do with Romney. And it's the same reason in primary after primary, voters kept trying to find an alternative to Romney to go up against Obama. People don't like him on the right, left, or center.

Romney in a nut shell is like that geeky and rather socially akward kid in school, who no one really wanted to hang out with, have lunch with, and somehow could just never "fit in". On issues such as abortion he's all over the map, and is of every persuasion on the issue (so long as it's politically convenient for him), and otherwise says the most akward things. This is worse then the mention of Bushisms and question if it's really smart to say things like "too many good docs are out of jobs...too many OBGYN's can't practice their lovin on women no more"; because at least in the case of Bush you got the sense that at heart he was a decent enough of a guy who you wouldn't mind having a beer with. Romney, if he even drinks (that Mormon thing of course, and keep in mind Utah passed that law against daily drink specials), it the sort of person you'd rather remain at that "other table" so you don't have to interact with him, much.

His time in the UK, where his comments about the British not being "passionate enough" about the Olympics, when what he's suggesting just might not fit British culture exactly as such, is an example. His time in Israel, where he made statements about Palastinians, the Israeli's themselves wouldn't even go around making, is another.... Rumors of him strapping his dog to the car, and putting the luggage inside fits exactly the impression people have. He's so socially akward, it isn't just a political matter; on a very human level, he just doesn't seem "quite human", he comes accross as being very strange. And this doesn't resonate with the voters all that well. Forget the Dems for a moment, even among the Republicans, we all sense it. Perhaps in the future the joke wrt Romney's candidacy will be "the day Pee Wee Herman sought the presidency". He's a very akward person, first, and foremost, that not only makes blunders, but makes them in a manner that could almost have people wondering if he's some sort of automaton standing up on the stage, speaking to us, while play acting at being as human as the rest of us....

Here is Barack Obama's Main Accomplishments

Barack Obama's Main Accomplishment:

Signed the National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA) Bill into Law allowing any US citizen to Be Detained WITHOUT trial (A federal Court Blocked it in May because it Violates the Constitution, but Obama is not trying to get it UNBLOCKED!).

He has Killed HUNDREDS of Innocent people (Including 3 American Citizens) in Pakistan and Yemen with Drone Strikes (He's Ordered even more drone strikes than Bush!).

The rate of National Debt under George Bush was Around $60 Billion a Month. Under Obama, it's been $190 Billion a Month, so that would be Nearly $600 Per US Citizen (Thanks Obama!)

Obama Care: Page 22. MANDATES, The Government will Audit Book of ALL Employers who Self Insure. Page 50, Section 152, Health Care WILL be Provided to ALL Non US Citizens, Illegal or otherwise. No no, when you run for an elected public office, you no longer have any secrets, even more so in the financial department. And again even more so when you are running for the highest seat in an election.

Number one, above all else, it shows people you have nothing to hide. Someone who has nothing to hide can be trusted easier.

Truth be told Grover Mitt has paid more in taxes for the one year that he has released than you or I will for the entirety of our lives....

He also makes more money in a year than you or I will for the entirety of our lives...Conservatives love to overlook that part of the equation. They'd prefer we in the middle class find it unfair that people who make more money pay more taxes.

Ben and other Conservatives on this Board use the art of deflection as most Politicians do. If you ask them what the time is, they say, "Couldn't you just look at the clock for yourself?"

When presented with a true statement to which they do not like brought to light, e.g. "Your shirt is on inside-out" they would respond, it is none of your business how I wear my clothes, or I am starting a new trend." Rather than admit it, thank you for bringing it to their attention.

You cannot reason with people such as this.

Worm meat,

"Dispite all that, obama is a self confessed Marxist"

Aside from the fact that that is not true, there is nothing in our Constitution that says a man cannot be a Marxist or any other kind of socialist. In fact, there is nothing in our Constitution that establishes any economic system at all. The fact that we are a capitalist society is just an accident of history. Capitalism just happened to be all the rage at the time when this country was founded, and so here we are: capitalist.

Personally, I am tired of the United States of America being beholden to the interests of the 1%. It's been like this for 30 years, and if Romney wins it will be for 30 more. When this country was in the Depression, when 12 million Americans (or 25% of the working population) were unemployed and millions more in poverty, you were not considered unpatriotic to question why middle and working class were getting the brunt of the depression while fat cats got to live off their wealth. Farmers castigated the wealthy for buying up their farmland for just pennies per acre, while blue-collar factor workers gritted their teeth at prospects of more layoffs, longer hours, and pay cuts. In 1932, the American people flocked to a new and charismatic leader, Franklin D. Roosevelt, one who, while wealthy, was known to be a "traitor to his class," and he liked it. The New Deal, a stunning reversal of decades of laissez-faire economics even after the trust-busting days, led the way to a slow-but preferable recovery, and World War II provided the Keynesian stimulus needed to get the economy moving. But the New Deal set the groundwork for a generation of wealth, prosperity, and economic growth that not only enriched America, but also gave that wealth to the vast majority of Americans who were in the middle class.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are in the exact same rut that our grandparents were in decades ago. We live in a time of great disparity in wealth and income; a time of immense and visible poverty and economic decay; a time of prosperity for the few and destitution for the many. While we in America value success and merit highly, we also value something else, something far more important: equality. We have the right to protest in the streets, to voice our opinions on the inequity that is facing this country, and the transgressions on this nation that has been dealt upon us by the financial elite. In addition, we have the right to demand action. The reason hundreds of thousands of people descended the streets of New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and the streets of thousands of other cities both here and around the world was the fact that the wealthiest Americans now control the governments of the world, and they are using this power to further their own interests and abandoning everybody else. We are dealing with an enemy that is firmly entrenched in positions of power, and are currently fighting back with silence. Now, we must fight back with weapons instead of words; now, we must lead an uprising to take back our government from those "economic royalists" that FDR railed against. I do not say lead an armed insurrection; we did that during the Civil War and lost 2% of the population, which would equal roughly 6.3 million deaths today. We must respond via the voting booth; we must throw out our crony leaders and return common sense to Washington. While the Democratic Party has been corrupted by the specter of wealth and influence, they are salvageable and more trustworthy than the GOP, who have sold their soul and that of their posterity to the 1%. We must re-elect the President, take back the House and the Senate, and tell the Tea Party and the Republican Party to either compromise and moderate or go @!$%# themselves. That, my fellow Americans, is what our nation demands of us. Either we rise and restore our nation to the principles of fairness and equality, or we condemn our children and grandchildren to the slavery of toiling under wealthy masters, and we will be forever known to those children as those who had declined to act for our nation's interest and well-being. You will have this choice in November, and whether or not America will once again be a prosperous and egalitarian society will be up to your vote. Please, please, do not screw this up.

And your that you can be anything you want to be in this county, i just dont want to live under Marxist rule.

Also so you know, capitalism is the ONLY economic system that has elevated people out of poverty. All others only serve to oppress their people.

Worm meat . . . you have no clue as to what you are saying!

obama's first action as president was to seal his records. What is he hiding? here is the link to the order,

[which was found in the words of Welcome to Free Republic! The Premier Conservative Site on the Net!]

Read the following VERY CAREFULLY. . . . especially the third paragraph.

"On Nov. 1, 2001, Bush issued Executive Order 13233, which revoked a prior order issued by President Reagan. In doing so, Bush gave himself and former presidents the right to withhold records or delay their release indefinitely. A license to re-write history via incomplete records? You bet. But there's hope yet.

"The Senate is currently looking at The Presidential Records Act (H.R. 1255), which seeks to rescind Executive Order 13233," the Editorial Board of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer opined April 6, 2007.

On Jan. 21, 2009, President Barack Obama rescinded Bush's Executive Order 13233 to restore a measure of transparency to the actions of past administrations and to end this license to rewrite history or to hide evidence of malfeasance in office from investigation."

THEN you came up with THIS ridiculous assertion:

obama can choose to make his college records available, like every other president in history has.
But he has opted to not only hide his but seal them by exe order. I wonder how many other presidents have an exe order to not disclose personal records, oh...um NONE. What's your man hiding??

[ "like every other president in history has." is in bold type to emphasize your lack of knowledge] Now, see paragraph #1.

Hi Lush, When someone says 'self confessed' that usually means the person we are talking about, in this case obama, said it. and he said it while campaigning in 2008.

you also stated

Do you mean the republicans/Tea Wackos calling for "small government" while salivating over the notion of controlling the bodies and social lives of all US citizens....including every vagina in the nation??

this makes no sense. Small government means getting government out of our lives. obama is the one who wants to control your life, the choices you have. example, health care is not really a choice, if i dont choose to get it from the government i get charged a penalty, oh wait or is that a tax...
This will open the door for the government to force you to buy anything they deem you must buy.

It's nice that you have to resort to insults and name calling, that really gives you more credibility.

How would you feel if you had no trash collection, no roads to drive on, no electricity or water, no sewers, no police, no firemen, no schools, no military for self defense etc. I think government has an important role to play in our lives. Yes, we can argue about how much of a role it should have in our lives, but it is obvious that we cannot do without it.

Come on man, nothing is private when you run for President of the United States. I've been asked more questions for an entry level job than Mitt has answered for the Presidency.

Thanks Obama for Taking Benefits away from the Army. Yes Obama, Don't allow people in the Army to vote, yes Obama, Please Label all Veterans as "Terrorists" since they're fully trained and Could cause Harm to Society. Obama must go! Anything is Better than Obama.

Um, whatever "medication" you're taking, please pass it along. Obama has NOT taken benefits away from the Army ... in fact he has fought to make sure our Veterans KEEP their benefits. If you're referring to the Ohio thing - it's not to prevent our military from voting ... it's to open the early voting to EVERYBODY.

The stuff you're peddling isn't fit to line the bottom of a bird cage and wherever you're getting your info from, I'd ask them why they are LYING to you. ALL of those things you mentioned have been proven to be LIES. But hey ... don't let the TRUTH get in your way of making an UNINFORMED opinion.

I've never been so decisive on my vote in my life and I' turning 61 soon. I don't understand the people in the South being so solid Romney. He's an elitist that was the Governor of Mass, probably the 2nd most Liberal state, passing the template that was use for Health Care Reform Act that President Obama signed into law. He's a normal every day American, but has some honest earned money. He wrote books. He taught Constitutional Law at a prominent university. He didn't make money off the backs of other people and wasn't responsible for job loss. When Romney was Governor, his state ranked 47th in job creation. He said that he would create 10 Million jobs. What? Are the $.51/hour jobs being moved back to the US from China.

The President has his money in US Treasury Bonds--almost all of it. Romney will take more out of this economy and I guarantee you that our standards of living will decline, while his fortunes amass. If that prick wins, I'm moving to Guatemala or Costa. At least I won't have to watch this nation become any more of a class system than it is now.

I note that they are using the equivalent of debtors prisons in some states now. A person should pay their obligation, but I know people that simply scrape by. Long ago they bought chickens, planted a large family garden and tightened their belts. A couple that we know were both teachers in public schools--and they were passionate about it. They closed the school because the GOP slashed education dollars and fed the war machine and bussed the children to a neighboring town and they were the newest--so they were screwed. There are no jobs. Now, he loads lumber and stocks shelves for minimum wage. His wife works for a non-profit and makes very little. They shop for used clothing at thrift shops and walk as opposed to wasting gas, when at all possible. They are happy, considering their change in circumstances and they aren't a burden to society. One major health problem with either of them or their 2 children will result in bankruptcy.

The industrialists moved the jobs and they aren't bringing them back until they have the working person strapped so badly that we'll all work for @!$%#. President Obama is the only chance for the Middle Class and the working poor live a decent life. The President's wealth hasn't increased during this fiasco. Mr Romney has profited on misery his entire private life.

For over 3 1/2 years it's been about "He's a Muslim, Socialists, Facistists, show us your grades, he ate dog"--any distraction and lie that Rupert and Limbo rattle off---and some people bought into the lies.

I'm proud to be voting for President Obama. If you're a man or woman, an evangelical, Jewish, Latino, black, gay, straight or anywhere between---or even an older guy like me--think harder about this one than you ever have. He should win 99% of the vote, because he represents the 99%.

This site is just too funny. Glad to see this does not represent the vast majority of Americans who don't subscribe to the same ole liberal nonsense. Obama has been a disaster for this country. By his own words on unemployment he should not be reelected. Not to mention record unemployment, record debt, record homelessness, record poverty levels, record amounts of people on welfare.....and people want to reelect this guy.

Four more years of this guy and we will be Greece. Wake up America, Obama is over his head.

    #1.127 - Thu Aug 30, 2012 10:04 PM EDT

I can't believe how ignorant the majority of these comments are! Especially the ones about it being about race. Wow. We're really still on this? Isn't this record about broken by now? It isn't about race. It's about which candidate will be best for our country! Let's just look at the state of decline under our current President's reign, shall we? Gas prices are higher than they have ever been (with no sign of going lower), the nation is in more debt than it could possibly ever dig out of (thanks to the trillions of dollars Obama gave as "stimulus" to the car companies with..oh my gosh..millionaires running them), taxes have soared for everyone (including me, a full time student of 4 small children, living on 30,000 a year), unemployment is UP, and Obamacare is threatening to reduce us to all that it ensues (not only is it terrifying for all of us patients, but also for the medical workers who will suffer-not doctors, all the rest of us). It's simple. Obama has made things worse. He's had 4 years to turn this country around and he hasn't done it. He squandered money that could have been put back into the economy (like into the hands of the American public), and placed it in companies that will no doubt be back in debt, threatened to go under again because of their financial workings! He's had his chance. Now it's time to elect someone else to try to turn things around.

In business, Mitt Romney's firms shipped jobs to Mexico, and China. (SEC 3/26/1993, 3/29/2002, Los Angeles Times 6/2/2000)

As Governor, Romney outsourced jobs to India. (The Boston Globe 5/1/2012)

He had millions in a Swiss bank account (abc News 1/26/2012) in tax havens in Bermuda (Vanity Fair, August 2012) and in the Cayman Islands (abc News 1/18/2012).

jolly joker and for anyone else looking at the price of gas as an indicator of Obama's track record....

Gas goes up when the value of the dollar goes down. The US dollar has lost nearly ten percent of its value against other currencies in the last two months. Why? The federal reserve REPO program (a hidden stimulus for banks). As soon as the REPO program began, the market jumped 700 points and the value of the dollar went down significantly.

This is what causes the gas price to rise, jumps in the price of gold, jumps in commodities. The Fed is outright lying about inflation and who benefits from these programs? People like Romney.

Believe me, if you understand the reality of American economics, you'll see that the whole system is built to benefit the Romneys of the world. Do we really need him to be in the white house too?

Fact is, 4% increase in taxes on the wealthy is not gonna raise you a trillion dollar a year to get our deficit down. 50 billion at best....

Actually, according to the site listed below, raising tax rates on the rich would increase tax revenue by $336 billion over the next decade, six times what you stated. And that is only for the top tax rate. If we were to increase it for the top two rates, you would net in a haul of $460 billion, and $552 billion for the top three tax rates. Repealing the Bush tax cuts on the top 2% would net an additional $850 billion to $1 trillion over the next decade. And considering that the deficit is $7 trillion over the next decade, doing the things listed above would cut the deficit by $1.4 trillion, or 20%. That is a lot.

For God's sake, if he wants to run for office, he has to open up his private life to public scrutiny. And Obama already released his @!$%#ing birth certificate; I think that is enough. That means Romney ought to either release his tax returns or drop the campaign.

Just about fell off the couch when Ann Romney said in her convention speech that she was glad she had boys because boys are more honest and open. Brent,

I don't think it's crazy or radical to say that we need to raise taxes and cut spending to address the deficit, do you?

It will take more than spending cuts to seriously address our debts and deficits and it will take more than tax increases. But make no mistake....it will take BOTH.

The problem is is that many of you on the other side take liberals pleas to increase taxes as a way of "distributing funds" only. The reason that I'm so vocal about it is that Republicans only want to cut spending while disproportionately reducing taxes for the wealthy. Even a dipsh!t can understand how unfair that is. The Republicans have to understand that you have to take a look at the revenue side of the ledger as well.

VIPP, the problem is and always has been Romney, Bush, Murdoch, and other rich cronies have never paid their fair share in taxes. They all pay a lower rate than 99% of the rest of us. Take this for an example: the Romney's got a $77,000.00 tax write off on only one of their many show horses. So they got a tax refund bigger than the average American earns in a year. I know people will claim the horse is a business investment but so are the kids of America. They are our future and we should be investing in them not some future glue pot. I mean they get a write off for their hoses so can I get a refund for my Burmese cate. Nope that is not allowed but the rich can get a tax break on a horse that should be considered a pet just like my cat. If the rich and huge corporations like GE, Exxon, and more would pay their fair share of taxes the problem would go away. The Republicans can only promise lower taxes for the rich and screw the average struggling Americans.

Jim.... Sorry but your lie!! Bush, Romney, Murdoch do not pay a lower tax rate that 99% of the rest of us. This as of 2009, according to the IRS, the average middle class american making the median income of about $50,000/year paid an effective federal tax rate of 5.6%. Romey's effective tax rate was 14%. The marginal tax rate for a family making $50k/year is 25%, Romey's marginal tax rate is 35%. In fact, the average effective tax rate for all Americans is just over 11%. And, out of Romey's income how much is dollars did in pay at his 14%? That would be over $3 million based on his income of $21.7 million. 5.6% of $50,000 is $2800. So, Romeny paid taxes in one year what the average American family would take 1071 years to pay in actual dollars.

Additionally, per IRS data in 2009, tax payers making more than $1 million/year paid an average effective tax rate of 24.6%.

So, stop with your whining that the rich don't pay their fair share. The majority of them, including Romeny do and more.

Romney is hiding his money offshore so that he doesn't have to tithe so much of it to the LDS. They are very strict when it comes to receiving their share of their members' money. There are no loopholes in tithing like there are in federal taxes. Chances are that a larger percentage of Romney's wealth would go to the church instead of the IRS.

I bet he will not talk about the $77,000.00 tax write off he received for just one of his show horses while a struggling American working 2 or 3 jobs can only receive a maximum of $1,000.00 tax credit per child. He keeps claiming that Obama took $217 billion out of Medicare which is not true. Obama had his people sit down with the medical field and discussed problems and they discussed where smaller payments in certain areas can be accepted as full payment. They all agreed and now certain costs by doctors, hospitals, and nursing home are smaller and saved Medicare $217 billion. The money stayed with Medicare and is being used at a slower rate making Medicare more viable for many more years. So Romney is actually telling another lie trying to make us think Obama is bad when it is actually him. He and Ryan want to take over $1billion away from the PELL program which will make it more difficult for kids and veterans to get a college education, the same veterans that Bush sent over to Iraq for his false war. Romney and Ryan also want to take womens rights away from them. No one has the right to tell what a woman can and can't do to her body. That is a personal choice that she has to live with and NO ONE has the right to make that decision for her. I can go on and on but hopefully this will be enough to get some Republicans, Independents and undecided voters to vote for the right man who happens to NOT BE Romney with his $77,000.00 tax break on one horse and there are a lot more horses he owns. So vote for investment for our kids future and not for a future glue pot.

I could be so lucky that I have a cpa to do my taxes.....ALso, You state that no one has the right to tell women what to do, but you feel it is your right to tell hospitals run by clergy to go against their religeon? That's what obama care did. Ended the freedom of religeon and the ability to practice principles.

There is no cost savings in obama care, you add in all the freebies and everything else given to hospitals ......baby bar the door. Rates are going up. Cause you know why? Its called a monopoly! Its something hospitals and doctors have over you and I via the FDA, AMA and half of the rich congressmen living at the trough.

Romney paid individual taxes of the standard rates that you and I pay. On capital gains, he paid the standard 15%. What wouild people like that rate to be? that should be the discussion. But its not. THat's why I don't give a rat' s behind who wins. Cause it doesnt matter. Its empty suit 1 versus empty suit 2. Anyone with money invest in abroad because when you have an idiot in the white house, you never know when they are gonna come after you. It has nothing to do with the tax breaks. It has to do with risk. Romney donate more than 30% of his income and still made a bundle. Very few of any of your race baiting charlitans called dems give even half that much.

You know, the one where we "won" the war and "lost" the peace because Bush and his cronies thought the Iraq War would be a simple affair. Turns out we did not have the forces in place to control the bedlam that resulted in the loss of many of our best people and the death of thousands of innocents. Not real smart planning from many of the same advisors Romney employs.

I don't believe that Romney nor anyone from the other side can reshape the arc. It is clear that conservatives believe that what they call "entitlements" (which is actually a trust fund) has to be reshaped or they will bring us under, they believe in enforcement of immigration laws and punishment for those who violate them. They believe in an agressive "defense structure" and they believe that all life is sacred before birth and therefore will not tolerate a woman doing anything about it. They believe fixing the economy will be painful but not for them. They are not speaking to the fact that fighting two unfunded wars by lowering taxes drove up the deficit. They and the democrats are not admitting that deregulating the financial sector broke the economy. Nothing they say can change it. They would be better off just to admit they believe in tax cuts, no trust funds and unborn rights for children. I don't know why they don't just own it. They believe that will fix all of our problems. I do not and will not be watching. While I certainly am in sympathy and agreement with some of their positions I am unwilling to accept the whole package, not that they care. It's ok, I don't care if they care or not.

meetooboo- perhaps you missed it- just check your 180+ and counting filibusters(highest total in US History) and you will see the jobs bill. After the first budget Dems and Obama recognized it was a political game on your side.

Put the blame where it belongs - on the do nothing Republicans!

Ryan's budget cuts education spending by 1/3.

                      ECONOMY:

Obama: Term marked by high unemployment, a deep recession that began in previous administration and officially ended within six months, and gradual recovery with persistently high jobless rates. Unemployment rate jumped to 8.3 percent from 7.8 percent in February 2009, Obama's first full month in office, and has stayed above 8 percent ever since. The rate hit a high water mark of 10 percent in October 2009 and has dropped to 8.2 percent. Businesses have added jobs for more than two years straight. Obama responded to the recession with a roughly $800 billion stimulus plan that nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated cut the unemployment rate by up to 1.8 percentage points. Continued implementation of Wall Street and auto industry bailouts begun under George W. Bush.Proposes tax breaks for U.S. manufacturers producing domestically or repatriating jobs from abroad, and tax penalties for U.S. companies outsourcing jobs. Won approval of South Korea, Panama and Colombia free-trade pacts begun under previous administration, completing the biggest round of trade liberalization since the North American Free Trade Agreement and other pacts of that era.

Romney: Lower taxes, less regulation, balanced budget, more trade deals to spur growth. Replace jobless benefits with unemployment savings accounts. Proposes repeal of the (Dodd-Frank) law toughening financial-industry regulations after the meltdown in that sector. Proposes changing, but not repealing, the (Sarbanes-Oxley) law tightening accounting regulations in response to corporate scandals, to ease the accountability burden on smaller businesses. "We don't want to tell the world that Republicans are against all regulation. No, regulation is necessary to make a free market work. But it has to be updated and modern."

Romney has proved himself to be the worst candidate with Ryan a close second. They both seem to enjoy lying about absolutely everything. They have lied about the Welfare, Medi Care, Womens Rights, Abortions, and to the seniors ; trying to frighten them off Obama Care.

Their close association with the NRA scares me to death. We have enough people killed every year or month to begin telling the NRA to butt out from politics. Instead Ryan brags about killing deer etc. and making his own sausages from the meat !!! He even says that he enjoys the "killing". Clint Eastwood is a NRA lover so yes he would be just overjoyed to be with the GOP convention.

There is an old proverb which says "show me the man's friends and I will show you the man" Looking at he friends of the GOP including Trump, Limbaugh and Knoch brothers I have a good idea of the men.

The Congress have proved themselves to be the most coniving and useless one ever !!!!! Well, does this not tell you something.

There is no politician who is 100 per cent perfect but in my book Obama has proved himself to be far above any of the GOP contenders; especially above Romney and Ryan.

We are in the Recession because Bush put us here. But, Obama hasn't done a great job at getting us out yet. It will take more than 4 years for that to happen. Both candidates aren't good. But I will take the lesser of the 2 evils. At least Obama doesn't have a problem paying his fair share in taxes. Unlike Mitt Witt. Hiding money overseas and keeping it out of America. Not very patriotic if you ask me. Mitt is about money and that's all. He's proven that. Look at Bain Capitol. Lots of jobs outsourced. What do you think he will do in office? Definitely won't help the middle or lower class. Will give tax breaks to the 1% so they can hoard it like they do. Without the middle and lower class. The 1%'ers won't have sh*t! I just can't trust a man who won't pay his FAIR SHARE in taxes. Yes he pays more than most. But he makes more than most and should pay. If I pay 25% of my check in taxes, that leaves me with not a whole lot to support my family. If he pays 25%, he still has more than enough.

Wow you pay 25% in taxes? Is this based on your taxable income after all your deductions, exemptions, credits, etc are applied? If so, then you are in this salary range:25% Bracket $70,700 – $142,700 for married filing jointly. You are not poor and can support your family just as I do. If you are earning less than the range and paid 25%, you are certainly receiving a pretty refund from the IRS. Get ready for it to get worse after the Bush era tax cuts go away.

With Romney speaking tonight, I wonder who will win the "I Can Lie More Than You" contest. They sure have told some doozies and with no sense of shame doing it. What does that say about someone’s integrity who will lie just to win? Not much in my opinion.

It just sends the message that morals and integrity are no longer signs of character. No wonder everyone else from Wall Street to College students cheat and lie and steal too. Are these the lessons we teach our children. Is that your message Mr. Ryan to your children? It’s okay to lie and malign people because you want to win?

How about you Mr. Romney? You want your kids and grandkids to know you would do any and every deceitful, unethical thing to win? What a fine leader you would make with those lack of morals. I guess your God and Ryan’s God doesn’t care that you are lying to people who have everything at stake. How do you sleep at night? Oh that's right you think lying is just fine if the end justifies the means.

See they hate the Fox News so much because they have both Liberials and Consertives on debating each other to get both sides of the issues. Liberials do not like choice, (just look at their stance on school choice (for pairents), retirement choice (opting out of SS and go privite). Choose their own doctor and insurance instead of Obamacare. Letting people opt out of Unions. They just want the Liberials to be the only ones with their message going out, and they want only their people to be incontrol of the People and the Government. Obama, (in the liberial mind) doen't lie, because they want to believe him and they can not accept that he would do anything to hurt them. The same way Party membrs believe that Putin has their best intrests at heart, and he does, as long as they obey him and do everything he says. if not, they disapear.

Liberial want the Money the rich have but don't want to work for it, or take the risk and time it takes to make a business work. They don't realize that if companies leave their jobs leave with them.

I am not naive. I don't believe everything I hear from politicians. My main point is if they have a plan to get this country on the path to prosperity then what is that plan? They are just telling lies and not their plan. They are doing that because they have no plan. It is the same policies of Bush and company. Deregulate, cut taxes.....blah blah blah B.S.

They also are coming off as God fearing God loving and just good Christians and good Mormons. He is an elder of his church and he is outright LYING. Why does he need to do that? It's because he has nothing else to offer. He is another empty suit and it shows. He has been running for President for at least the last six years. He should have a comprehensive plan by now wouldn't you think? But all he can do is lie about his opponent instead of telling us in detail and not platitudes, what his plan is.

London - I've often wondered about the effects of home-schooling. The children I have witnessed that have been victims of home "schooling" are completely socially inept - more so even than the children that get sent to the evangelical cult schools (they just go to college, get knocked up and come back home wondering how it all happened). I think their parents should be more ashamed of the inbreeding that occurred before they denied their children an education...

It is really creepy what evangelicals do to their poor children. Children from Catholic or Greek schools seem to turn out OK - but those poor evangelical kids...it's like looking at the kids of the living dead. It's so sad that the brainwashed "parents" are so insecure in their beliefs that they have to hide their children from humanity. It borders on abuse.

The inordinate amount of time spent trying to recast Mitt Romney as a likable, empathetic man of the people has been quite telling. He obviously lacks these qualities as so much effort has been expended to tell a better story than the one which is already written by his deeds.

As far as forward-looking is concerned, it seems like all he and his manifold surrogates can do is look backwards and only 3 years at that. The hindsight takes a vacation during the Bush presidency and the very fact that neither George of the Bushes is at the convention speaks volumes about what Republicans want to forget about their past mis-deeds.

To be sure, Mitt Romney is a slightly shinier and perhaps more pragmatic version of the former recent Republican presidents. He is probably more intelligent as well, yet we can clearly see from his deportment overseas and his personal finances, which include a no-confidence vote in on-shore banks, that he is more of the same, tutored and advised by the same and sadly lacking vision and grace.

One speech tonight can not recast his life and beliefs.

There is no question that Romney and Ryan have more values, that match the majority of the people in this country. It is just the biggots, and the hypocrates that don''t want to hear the truth.

                                  @300michael

Did you even check to see if your bald-faced lies have any substance? Romney and Ryan DO NOT HOLD VIEWS that the majority of Americans have on major issues.

                                  1. Abortion - less than 20% of Americans believe abortion should always be illegal (http://www.pollingreport.com/abortion.htm ). Ryan believes all abortions should be illegal. He even wants to make birth control illegal. Why is it that he has ONLY three children after 12 years of marriage? Hypocrite?

                                  2. Taxing the rich more fairly - A majority of Americans say, make it so. http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2012/04/13/americans-to-very-rich-pay-your-taxes-poll/

                                  3. Bigots and hypocrites - yes the Republican party does have a majority here. Only 2% of the delegates were non-latino, non-white.( http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-convention-diversity-20120831,0,3808085.story ) Defacto discrimination is based primarily upon party platform. And bigotry doesn't just occur based on skin color. The bigotry of Republican tenets which devalue women is legion. You should know the name, Todd Akin, by now (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/20/us/politics/todd-akin-provokes-ire-with-legitimate-rape-comment.html ) and the weak initial milquetoast Romney repudiation of that idiot.

If there's one thing that marks conservative followers of the party, it is a determined reluctance to research the story and facts behind an issue. Bold talk and tough positions taken with little consideration to reality is the hallmark of the modern conservative movement. Take the convention theme, "We built that," a theme constructed solely on a willful misreading of an Obama speech. Pretty pathetic.
I'm sure you listened to the Republican Convention. It left me with a feeling that it was a bunch of gossiping high school students that couldn't diss the class president enough. So little substance and so much bitching. Not the sort of leadership that deserves the public vote.

How many of you out there know that George Bush failed his Political Science class three time and barely passed it on his fourth attempt with a grade of D? He rented a home from a family friend while in college. When he supposedly graduated from college the woman who owned the home went in after he moved out and was shocked. The interior of the house was destroyed, holes in the walls, blood and feces on the floors and walls, needles, pot pipes, used condoms and many more surprises were found laying around. She asked for compensation to make repairs and Bush never paid up so she took him to court and won the case and he was ordered by the court to pay for all repairs and extra for grief and legal costs. To this day this woman has not recieved a penny and she is no longer friends with the Bush family. This was documented in several magazines and is not a made up story. Romeny thinks Bush was a good leader so that means romney has no common sense Also just wanted you to know that Romney got a $77,000.00 tax write off on only one of his many show horses while stuggling Americans can only get a maximum of $1,000.00 child care credit. Whis is more important the kids who are our future or a horse that will end up being a glue pot.

Jim - and George Bush bankrupted not one but two businesses before going into politics. And, this is the man the GOP selected to head our country!

Bob in VA - as you've been told over and over and over again - everyone's college transcripts are sealed - even mine, yours (if you went to college). Now get over the stupidity. It just makes you look so Republican (NOT A GOOD THING)!

Obama Showed his Business skills, by taking a bad situation and manageing to make it twice as bad. Now he wants another chance to make it four times worse. All he is good at is growing the Debt, He lied about not taxing the under $250K workers. He has is chance to do anything he wanted, with Pelosi, and Reid, helping him. Now he thinks he can do something with a possible Majority Republican Congress? The man needs to get some help. We went from a ditch to a cliff.

Beloved President Barack Obama: 1. Prevented the USA and the nations from sinking into a great depression.

                                      2. He brought Justice to the evil terrorist Bin Laddin. 3. He held BP accountable for the Gulf Oil Spill.

                                      4. He has helped bring into reality the Arab Spring...bringing to Justice the Lybian leader that killed

SU students in Scotland. 5. Federal Student Loans are structured in such a way that no matter who you are

repayment is possible due to President Barack Oboma. 6. The Affordable Health Care Law which the

American people expected of the prez and congress ended medical insurance descrimination.

                                      7. Unlike the gop medicare and social security will never be at risk. 8. The Buffit rule will bring

fairness to the tax code. 9. Our prez has created jobs in this envirnment and will create more.

                                      10. Ryan austerity will bring us backward to the effects of a 1930 level depression..for sure.

                                      11. The recession was the Bush recession. 12. 9/11 was the GOP Bush failure to defend the homeland.

                                      13. Liberty. It is the Gop that threatens the liberty of women to act in conscience concerning their

reproductive rights. It is the gop that threatens the freedom of gay and lesbian men women and childdren.

                                      14. The audit of the last decade could not account for the more than 57 billion tax payer dollars.

Now we watched bricks of cash handed out on the streets of Bagdad. We all know where our cash went.

                                      • On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.

Actually Ryan was Correct. The 714 billion dollars was removed and put into Obama care. That Medicare money was in the Medicare Trust Fund. The fund is not a bank account for Obama to remove funds from, for other pet projects. The money should have stayed in the fund which is already paying out more then it takes in. ObamaCare is susposed to be self funding and shouldn't need to be taking any money from other Trust Funds. It was the same Obama Policys Pushed by Reid and Pelosi that helped close that plant. The EPA restrictions, and the extral government regulation is why the plant closed. It was unable to show any profit. Fox has Liberial writers, that are given time, and space in their new. Unlike other so called news media. it is that writers openion, and I weight it accordingly, as I did listened to the speach myself. I also take the writers political stance so that I know which "slant" they put on their stories. (liberial and concertive).

Let’s look at what Obama promised then has done in the years he has had in office:

                                        1. Obama promised to get us out of Iraq ASAP, has he? NO! Has not even tried.
                                        2. Obama promised to get the USA out of Afghanistan, has he? NO! Has not even tried.
                                        3. Obama promised to close Guantanamo Bay, has he? NO! (Some say so he’ll have somewhere to live when he is impeached and convicted).
                                        4. Obama released to the media he has quit smoking! Has he? NO! He has regularly been seen sucking on cigarettes. Quitting takes moral fiber which he lacks entirely. Bottom line, he still SUCKS!
                                        5. Obama promised hundreds of times 4 years ago to publish pending legislation for a few weeks on C-Span for a public comment period. Has he? NO! Nobody at C-Span has heard word one from his administration. Not only that, he has done exactly the opposite! He routinely introduces 1000 page legislation a couple hours before the scheduled vote with a quick, “trust me”.
                                        6. Obama promised to produce a real birth certificate, has he? No! Only a document not accepted as official identification, never a regular birth certificate, WHY?
                                        7. Obama promised to “fix” the USA economy within 90 days when Bill Clinton called his financial plan a “fantasy”. Has Obama “fixed” the USA economy? NO! Obama has spent more than ALL previous presidents combined from George Washington to George Bush! 100 BILLION in first 50 days of Obama! Thanks Obama for cash for clunkers! Some people cleaned up, the “clunkers” were re-sold and are still on the road, the taxpayers got screwed again, but thanks!
                                        8. Obama promised to “fix” the USA economy, yet we are in more debt by many times than ever before. China is balking at buying out credit now thanks to the mounting Obama debt.
                                        9. Obama promised to “fix” unemployment, but most expect it to be 10% by next month. 1 in 4 Americans in unemployed or underemployed, far worse than 4 years ago.
                                        10. Obama promised to create jobs, but even with his new calculation including “saved jobs” which economist’s value as “voodoo math” he has lost more jobs during the years he has been in office than before he was in office.
                                        11. Obama DID take credit for forces which were in place long before he was elected which eventually killed Osama Bin Laden.
                                        12. Obama promised this election was going to be a dirty, ugly war and immediately set about doing that all by himself. Obama has not only NOT worked on a bi-partisan level, he has done exactly the opposite stirring up class wars, rhetoric, fights and more.
                                        13. Obama promised to “restore” the middle class in America, which has been nearly cut in half since he was elected years ago.
                                        14. Obama promised the “rich” would pay for the “poor”, so did Karl Marx, Frederick Engels, Vladamir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Tse-tung. Obama told to Joe the Plummer, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it is good for everybody”. What about those you steal from? NOT good for them! What about the American Dream? Obama single handedly KILLED the American Dream!
                                        15. Obama promises healthcare in the form of what he calls, “affordable”, The American taxpayer can’t afford it. Who can? Freedom used to be what the USA was about, now Obama says, “You WILL buy my health insurance or be fined” What kind of freedom is that?
                                        16. Why has Obama “classified” his college transcripts? What Obama he hiding? Are they in the same place as his Birth Certificate?

These are simple facts. We ARE in Iraq, Afghanistan AT war, Guantanamo OPEN, Obama DOES still suck cigarettes, Obama has NOT contacted C-Span, we have NOT seen a real birth certificate, Obama has spent more than ALL previous presidents combined, unemployment IS out of control, Simple Facts. Why on heaven, earth or Mars would anybody even remotely begin to think Obama has done anything worth repeating?! We can’t afford more debt, more lies, more Obama! How can anybody get excited about this dead duo?

Lastly... and the most important lie ever told to us Americans, was actually said by Obama himself. He told the American people that if his actions didn't improve the United States at the end of his four year term, he would step down and not run.

Yes sir, our beloved prez is as sincere and honest as the day is long. When all americans were

in shock for 8 years that the USA failed to get Bin Laddin...Obama had the courage and brains

to get the job done. As a bonus we got the leader of Lybia too..you know he killed our SU kids

in Scotland. Our President Barack Oboma is a hero to my father, myself and my four adult children.

He is God's annointed leader for this particular time. I am grateful from the depths of my soul

the war on domestic and foreign terrorist is on going. Obama is the leader and vistor is this all important war of our generation. WOW... no one else in his class.

I was hoping that Mitt would show us something .... Regretfully ... he didn't! .. It was the worst acceptance speech in my over fifty years of watching political conventions .. He created no energy .... and seems (if you believe his words) to be out of touch with reality ...

If he was a used car sales man and had the look he showed tonight ... I wouldn't trust him & wouldn't buy a car from him... Mitt Romney looks like he's lying to you ... not good for a presidential candidate As a fan of Clint Eastwood .... I was embarrassed for him ... his act was not helpful ...

For the undecided voter that watched the Romney speech ... I would expect that he lost about 10% of them ... based on believability alone ... and pushed another 5% into leaning to his opponent...

All in all this was a bad night for the Republican hopes of gaining the White House ... they keep shooting themselves in the foot ...

First off their so called Medicare plan affects me directly and no one is going to put me on a voucher system that may or may not cover my expenses.Secondly,it doesn't take place for 10 years, hell neither of them will be in office then and Medicare will be broke because as their plan states it does nothing to seniors now.Their budget plan also does not begin to deal with the deficit for 10 years. How is that a solution ?? They will, however extend those Bush tax cuts for the wealthy right away and cut corporate taxes. Can anyone here tell me how their plans do anything except make the rich richer ???

                                            Disgusted:Just read it and that's hilarious !!
