TAMPA, Fla. -- Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee served up red meat to Republicans at their national convention, rallying conservatives behind the party’s nominee-in-waiting, Mitt Romney.
Huckabee leaned on standard Republican tropes -- from mocking House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to decrying "radical left-wing" policies -- in a pitch firmly directed toward the GOP's right wing.
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee backs Mitt Romney's private sector business record while delivering remarks at the RNC.
"To those who question how once-rivals can now be united, it’s quite simple -- we have Barack Obama to thank," said the former 2008 presidential candidate, who sparred with Romney in that year's GOP primaries, in a bid to stir conservatives' passions.
Huckabee passed on running for the Republican presidential nomination a second time in 2012, leaving a void in the primary field this cycle for a visible social conservative like this former Southern Baptist preacher.
It was one of the most direct and pointed speeches targeted at President Barack Obama and it riled up delegates as the convention built towards vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s acceptance speech Wednesday night.
"No small differences among us in our party approximate the vast differences between the liberty-limiting, radical left-wing, anti-business, reckless-spending, tax-hiking party of Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, versus an energized America who knows that we can do better," said the former Arkansas governor.
That hard-hitting rhetoric was largely typical of Huckabee's speech, which included jokes about the president's Nobel Peace Prize and Vice President Joe Biden's charitable giving -- along with jabs directed toward a familiar Republican bogeyman, the media.
Huckabee also made reference to his role as a socially conservative leader in an attempt to rally Catholics, a group whom Republicans have courted this cycle, partially by attacking new Obama administration rules about requiring insurers to cover contraception.
"The attack on my Catholic brothers and sisters is an attack on me," he said.
Huckabee made no mention, though, of one of his sharpest differences of late with Republican leaders, over the candidacy of Todd Akin -- the Republican Senate candidate in Missouri whose controversial comments about rape prompted most GOP leaders to call for Akin to end his campaign. Huckabee has stood by and defended Akin.

"Serves up red meat"? "Standard Republican tropes"? "right wing"? "familiar Republican bogeyman, the media"?
Liberal snarking masquerading as journalism.
So, when the Democrats at their Convention personally attack Mitt Romney, and screech about a "War on Women" and lobby for radical leftist causes.....
Will First Read state they are "serving up red meat"? Will First Read state they are "left wing", with the standard Democratic tropes"?
Somehow I doubt it.
My mother called today- infuriated at NBC. First, because they did not broadcast Artur Davis' speech, most of Governor Haley's speech, or any of Mia Love's speech.
Then, because they had, in her terms, the "unmitigated gall" to talk about racism, after the way Sue Simmons and Ann Curry were treated.
She thinks there should be a new term for hypocrisy created- just for NBC. I think she's right.
I can be expected that there will be changes here and at First Read following this election. There must be a way for NBC and Chuck Todd's team to have some sort of touch with reality.
You want "Red Meat"?
I'll give you "Red Meat"!
I've been a Republican all my Life, but this year, me and all my Republican friends are voting a straight Democratic ticket come this November 2012.
Why? I'll tell you why!
Me and my Republican homeboys don't want no Liar, Tax-Cheat, or a possible Felon in our Whitehouse.
Retro Active Retirement? hidden Swiss bank accounts? Money Laundering in the Cayman Islands? Taking your Wife's Olympic Show Horse off your Taxes by calling it a "Therapy Horse? Not paying your Federal Income Tax for the last 10 years, according to your fellow Mormons?
Mitt Romney's hideous character defects and his horrific shortcomings are just too glaring to overlook.
The Republicans have no positive message for the working class or the middle class population, except for their own selfish Money Interests and their Extreme Rightwing back to the horrific and horrendous years of the Bush/Cheney/Darth Vader/Karl Rove/Haliburton Oil/BlackHawk Mercenary regime. Did I mention Karl Rove?
Vote a straight Democratic ticket please!
Right. And I'm the Queen of Sheba.
Look, it does not matter what your moniker is- it is obvious that you are an Obama supporter. That's fine- but why hide it?
It sways no one when you attempt to mislead.
RFO you aren't right. And I may even stretch it to say you never were a republican. Otherwise you could absolutely not vote for Obama.
Is it something I said?
Really! I am a Republican.
It's not so much that I'm an Obama fan,
it's more that a Romney/Ryan ticket makes me want to spew.
That's why this Republican is Encouraging all Policemen, Firemen, Teachers, American Servicemen, all Women, the Latinao and Gay Community, and all others to Vote a straight Democratic ticket, come this November 2012.
You'll be glad you did!
You know they won't Bob. It matters not.
Paul Ryan just slammed all over Obama and crashed the backboard. (To use a basketball analogy)
So far the convention has been a resounding success.
This man is claiming to be a Christian? He seems more like the Talaban then aChristian.
red meat from red states?
Red states get more meat from the federal government, but are more anti-government...biting the hands that feed them? Ungrateful.
Huck may have served up red meat, however; Rice DREW BLOOD!!!!! She should run someday in the near future!.
Huckabee throws his lot in with Akin: Credibility < zero...
anyone that thinks that NBC or MSNBC is anything but a outright supporter of the very liberal Obama is not using there brain for independent thoughts or ideas
The bailout money was to save all the rich peoples assets in the USA the
ones who pay generously when campaign times comes around the ones who pay for
and take care of their politicians...that's why all those banks got billions of
our money and then they turn around and foreclose on everyone's house and lend
us the same money back with high interest ...and yes funnel the same said TARP
money into handsome bonus checks for said CEOs all GOP by the way.....all the
while saying it was a bad idea but it had to be done for the good of the
nation...funny the government can give away billions over night like nothing
happened and then complain about people retiring and drawing their SSN (oh yeah
they call that entitlements now) its the favorite GOP mantra at speech time
feeding the animals their red meat. But they dont turn down their entitlements when its their turn to draw..but they expect us to do that....
How much money do you think all them banks got and do you reckon it came out of our SSN fund YESSS...so instead of a bailout all them rich greedy bastages got our entitlement money....sanctioned by all the GOP ....
When the stuff hits the fan we all see now who gets the grease its not the working man.....
Yeah I really trust the world is only 6000 yrs old crowd...
All you lefties really should try watching another channel than MSNBC. Try all of them for a cross of all the BS. When you parrot what they say you start to sound boring and definitely uninformed....
Jeez...what rock did they find all these creeps under?
Republican National Convention: A celebration of reaction
By Patrick Martin
30 August 2012
The Republican National Convention opened Tuesday in Tampa, Florida and quickly concluded its main business, endorsing an ultra-right political platform and rubber-stamping the nomination of Mitt Romney as the Republican presidential candidate.
The rest of the three-day event, shortened by one day because of Hurricane Isaac, is devoted to interminable speeches by Republican Party officials and office-holders extolling Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan and vilifying the Democratic incumbent Barack Obama, despite the fact that the two big business parties are in basic agreement on all of the most important political issues.
To a considerable extent, the Republicans have been forced to move further and further to the right, adopting positions that lead to bizarre episodes like the Todd Akin affair, because the Democratic Party has itself adopted openly right-wing positions on social policy (the abolition of welfare, cuts in Medicare and Medicaid), democratic rights (extra-judicial assassinations, domestic spying, the gutting of due process and habeas corpus) and imperialist war (the "surge" in Afghanistan, war against Libya, war for regime-change in Syria, preparations for war against Iran).
The general tenor of the Republican convention was set by the keynote speech delivered Tuesday night. The hard-line right-wing message found an appropriate human repository in the thuggish persona of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. His theme was that politicians had to choose between being respected and being loved.
Politicians of both parties, he declared, "have decided it is more important to be popular, to do what is easy and say 'yes,' rather than to say 'no' when 'no' is what's required." Now, he argued, at this Republican convention, "we choose respect over love."
According to Christie, it is necessary to say "no" to the expectations and needs of the American people—to slash the jobs, wages and benefits of public employees; eliminate teacher tenure and gut public education; and cut spending on entitlement programs for the poor, the sick and the elderly.
The New Jersey governor claimed that the people of his state "stepped up and shared in the sacrifice," although not a penny was extracted from the super-rich or big business. The entire burden of budget cuts and deficit reduction—$132 billion in a single state, by Christie's boasting account—was imposed on the backs of working people.
He claimed that his policies were popular in the state, although opinion polls consistently show majority opposition to his drastic deficit reduction measures and growing hostility to Christie personally. Only the collaboration of the Democratic Party, which still controls the state legislature, and the treachery and cowardice of the public employee unions has enabled the Republican governor to sustain his chosen posture as the bully of New Jersey politics.
An incoming Republican administration in Washington would carry out similar measures, Christie declared. "We believe in telling our seniors the truth about our overburdened entitlements," he said. The truth, in fact, is that the so-called crisis in Social Security and Medicare is the product not of inexorable demographic trends, but the insatiable profit drive of Wall Street. Finance capital looks upon these social programs, the last remnant of the era of social reform in America, as a source for more bailouts and more raids on the public treasury to prop up the banks and the financial oligarchy...

Ok, I'm going to skip all the crap and ask how exactly is the left "liberty-limiting" and HOW pray tell does the right give me more liberty? Just that one question answered would be nice.
On The Daily Show tonight, they interviewed some Republican delegates (about the fact that Romney was not as anti-abortion as the rest of them) and they kept throwing around words like "choice" and "liberty". Just as long as you're white, Christian, married and only having sex to have children, straight and rich, you have ALL the choice and liberty...well and you're not a LIBERTARIAN like Ron Paul, then your choices are still taken away from you.
Because if you're poor or middle class, not straight (and even if you are), not white (and even if you are), not male (and even if you are). the GOP is working REAL HARD to ensure: you can't vote (or have as much trouble as possible), you can't get married (if not straight), you can't walk the streets without possibly being stopped on suspicion of being a criminal (shot dead in some cases) and you can't make decisions about your reproductive system (if you're a woman). Of course it's a given that it is your responsibility to make the rich richer, and all you old retired folks who have come off the corporate money supply chain..well they'll take care of that real soon if they can. End this government Medicare foolishness, insurance companies can't make billions from that. They'll make sure you have the "choice" to pay a company to limit the amount of money you can spend on healthcare.
You'll be happy to know that most Virginians are a lot smarter than Bob. That's why President Obama won VA in 2008 and it's why he'll win VA again this year, along with Tim Kaine keeping us at 2 Democratic Senators!
Oh, and Bob, I'd once again like to extend an invitation to come watch the election coverage at my house the night of my birthday, November 6th. The best birthday present ever would be to see the look on your face when the networks call Virginia, and the election for President Obama once again!!!!
Dude, Ron Paul is a Republican tried and true.
I'd have to give a big fat "Ditto" to all the righties that keep their television sets tuned into the propaganda wing of the Republican party, Fox "News"
I would actually argue that voting Democrat at this time is a direct result of using logic and independent thought.
Jason,
Careful, you're going to make Juh-heez-us cry!
More crap flowing out of Tampa than all the hog farms in North Carolina.
My mother is a Republican, but not even she can stand Tealibans like Huckabee.
All you folks coming out in defense of this man are not defending Republicans, you're defending the new Theocrat Dominionist party which hijacked the Tea Party and are currently masquerading as 'small government' supporters. Let's see how small government gets once they legislate morality and p!ss all over our 1st Amendment. Their idea of liberty is the freedom to impose their religious dogma unto others.
Want evidence? Look up what they have said/done in regard to: women's rights, science in schools, p0rnography, homosexuality, global warming. Nothing but lies piled on lies to support a platform of religiously-based legislation and denialism - in full violation of the Establishment Clause and all cognitive reasoning.
No, No... does your Moms TV only have 1 channel...
gee if not, seems like she just likes to bitch...
No Bitch, No Mitt!
Huckabee and the radical right of the republican party is all we have to fear. From Voter Id's to limit voting against them, to running fake Democrats in Wisconsin and then the Robert's Court allowing unlimited funding to buy elections we are seeing the same 1930's pre-Nazi policies coming forward. If you won't believe it I can assure you I lived through it in the 30's and know how it starts! Beware the military industrial complex- Ike! Seig Heil is coming to the republican party! or is already here!
Republicans just keep parading out the old-time losers of the GOP party at their convention.
I mean, really, Huckabee? McCain?
In 2016 they'll be parading out the next big time losers - Romney and Ryan.
Obama/Biden 2012
The Huckster seems to be the mostsinister, intolerant, racist preacher i ever saw.
"LIES, ALL LIES" Frau Farbisina
jimsepa - they used Cain (999) and Wild Eyes Bachmann yesterday. Bush only got to show a little video clip. He is so toxic to the party (because all they have is his failed policies and don't want to remind the voters who screwed the pooch) they didn't invite him. This is the first time in years that an ex-President was not invited to the convention.
Go have a doughnut, Huck. Your time in the national spotlight, as with Sister Sarah, has run its course.
Starderup, I just wonder when they'll pull out the Trumpster. Get the Birthers fired up.
Great speech as were the others. The far left loonies who will vote for this failed President are beyond hope. They refuse to believe simple truths and we have spent to much time and money on them already.
I can't wait until January when we can get some leadership back in control.
This has been a four year failed social experiment and the cost is way to high. Not sure how we will be able to claw our way out of this mess this current fool has put us in.
What is truly sad about NBC is they totally have chosen to ignore the brilliant and powerful speech delivered by Condoleezza Rice ! Without a teleprompter, she delivered from the heart a spellbinding address on American exceptionalism.
She pointed out the inconsistent and weak responses of the present administration without a direct finger-pointing at Obama. She emphasized the need to keep our military strong (while Obama wants to gut the military).
She strongly endorsed the Romney/Ryan team partly because of their ability to correct our countries financial woes which threaten our country's very existence.
Her address was one of the most powerful I have ever seen in my life and she delivered it with class and with eloquence.
Wonder if the republican conventionairs enjoyed their "chitlins" this morning? Mike Huckabee and Paul Ryan sure stump whipped enough "pork entrails" to amply feed every one of 'em several plates apiece. Don't know how the Media classifies sh^t stuffed hog guts as red meat though. They are more of a Grey tint. Ignorance, I suspect. Doubt there's a more fitting bunch in the US right now, than the attendee's of the republican convention, to consume a few barrels of chitlins.
Well, Emanuel, it looks like nobody had an answer for your question about just exactly how the GOP gives you more liberty.
My guess is that, had someone replied, they would have told you about tax breaks and looser restrictions on business, so they will make more jobs, so that you can get one, and then you'll have more liberty?
Other than that, there seems to be little offered in the way of personal liberty. It looks like they want to give state and local governments more liberty to discriminate, ditto churches and cops. They just gave local elections boards the liberty to challenge your right to vote. They're all in for the liberty of states to deny your right to choose.
Hmmm, I guess they are talking about more liberty for those who think like they do, to limit the liberty of those who don't. They call that 'a return to fundamental values.'
Jim...after what Rattlesnake Rice did during her tenure at Stanford, you wouldn't let her handle your checking account let alone the economy of our nation.
How soon you forget that she was PART of the problem that got us here.
You fools will clap for anything, won't you.
Superb post, Emanual. Thank you sir.
Yeah, emanuel gets his info fromn a liberal hack comedy show. He's about as well informed as the idiot who praised him for his post.
I just had to watch Mike Huckabee speak. He had the audacity to say he and the Republicans support "Individual Liberty", while advocating all the while AGAINST it. He wants to take away Constitutionally protected individual liberty and give power to government it does not have. They want to force women into pregnancy and childbirth against their will simply because they had sex (OMG!). He also mentioned God, and I believe in God, preaching (as he always does) that there is no Separation b/w Religion and Government in our Constitution. This is, of course, wrong.
"Strongly guarded as is the separation between Religion & Govt in the Constitution of the United States the danger of encroachment by Ecclesiastical Bodies, may be illustrated by precedents already furnished in their short history." James Madison, Constitutional author
Huckabee and his views are the "danger" to which Madison referred, the continuous assault of encroachment. They do not wish to "defend", they wish to impose. This country does not deprive its citizens of protected rights at the whim of any religious text or group. Pregnancy (within established limits) is a medical, patient-doctor, issue. If you believe in Individual Liberty, then it stands to reason that you leave the Liberty with the Individual.
If you want to try and change the Constitution, do it over the Citizens United decision, not Roe. Huckabee said he didn't think Mitt Romney had a soul, I doubt he's right about that either. Red meat, raw meat, dead meat. The Romney/Ryan ticket is DOA.
Aren't these cult leaders / members suppose to tell the truth?
I think most of us (defendants, lawyers, politicians and paid trolls excluded) try to tell the truth, but we are all (myself included) right and wrong whenever we make the effort. It really is only because I think the Republicans are the nastier whores that I'll be voting Democratic.
Well, G-dog, I will paraphrase Ryan-
If there is no change in leadership, why would you expect the next four years to be any different than the last three and a half?
Let me tell you all why the last approximately 4 years hasn't been much of a success, it's mainly because from day 1 the republicans decided that they are not going to work with Obama, they have been more of obstructionist than anything else. No matter what the Democrats put forward they shoot it down, even if it is something that they themselves presented in the past, and they have also lobbied their big wigs to not hire, even though they are making a profit, look at the stock market, it is now 13, 000, much better than 4 years ago, so why are they not hiring? Instead they are holding the middle class hostage, then want to blame Obama for that. What we need is a change in the House so things can start moving again. Republicans are nothing but a bunch of crooks, and liars, they are like the Sheriff of Nothingham back in the days of Robin Hood, guess who is Robin Hood. Vote Democrat.
It wasn't from day one the Republicans fault, as Ryan said it is always someone else fault, and yet the Democrats haven't passed a budget in three years, so please tell me when they had super majority in Congress they couldn't pass a budget, you libs are so blind and foolish, please tell me how a President and his administration can run up a $5trillion dollar deficit and believe in his policies. I love how Ryan touch on there are plenty of words coming out of the WH, but no action, like for 4 straight years I'll be focused like a laser on creating jobs, just another lie from the liar-in chief, Please wake up, America can do allot better, this President has an agenda not a plan and if we don't retire him now, he will destroy America with his EO and not enforcing the laws of the land, Paul Ryan is right we need a leader in the WH not a man of many words and broken promises
Vote Romney/Ryan who believe in America
@John-the democrats only had a super majority for 7 weeks, thats it 7 weeks. And the republican led senate has used the filibuster more times in 3 1/2 years than it had been used in almost 50 years. They filibustered a bill that would fund healthcare for 9/11 responders, they filibustered a bill that would stop tax breaks for companies shipping jobs overseas, filibustered a bill to put thousands of teachers firefighters and police back to work, Filibustered Rebuild American jobs Act which would have put an estimated 2-3 million back to work, filibustered the Paycheck Fairness Act which would guarantee equal pay for men and women doing the same job and the list goes on and on. And Were you complaining when GW took a 5 trillion dollar surplus and turned it into over 10 trillion in debt? That adds up to 15 trillion in overspending, did you complain then or do you really want to go back there? They had no problem raising the debt ceiling numerous times for GW, but hey we gotta make Obama look bad. That is the only plan they have for the US. And the republican right wing scares me more than anything. Its no compromise, lock step approach nears a level that is unprecedented. God forbid you defy Karl Rove, he made it very clear on 60 minutes that whoever does will be taken down with whatever means necessary. Why do you think Olympia Snowe is getting out? The policies in their platform and the people they have writing it make me believe they would have no problem legislating their brand of christian morality on all of us, and taking away more of your personal freedoms.
Fact Check, Accroding to an article written by the NPR written on 1/25/11 after the Bush era, the national debt was 5.768 trillion when he took office. By the time Bush left office, it had nearly doubled, to $10.626 trillion. So Bush's record on deficit spending was not good at all: During his presidency, the national debt rose by an average of $607 billion a year. How does that compare to Obama? During Obama's presidency to date, the national debt has risen by an average of $1.723 trillion a year — or by a jaw-dropping $1.116 trillion more, per year, than it rose even under Bush.
So my advice is this, before you post do some research this article took me all of
10 seconds to find on google.
Now to correct your other satement: That's roughly 17 weeks.
Democrats had a 60 seat majority from September 24, 2009 thru February 4, 2010. 4 months
Does that mean if Obama's reflected the Repubs will continue to be obstructionists? Still want to take their ball and run home to mommy because they lost? That's what they have done for 3 1/2 years.
Considering Congress's approval rating perhaps we can do spmething about that too.
But I promise one thing. If Romney wins we Dems won't stamp our feet and go home. We'll bitch and complain and work to compromise because we care more about our country than just political power. McConnell et al should be ashamed of themselves for putting party before country.
@gdog
I got some bad news for you gdog abortion is not a safe form of birth control it should be a last resort for a troubled and or unwanted pregnancy.
It screws up a women's body and more often then not also their heads and if it doesn't then she is mentally deficient in an area no women should be namely compassion.
In case you didn't know sex is how most upper life forms procreate that is the purpose the byproduct is that it can feel good and even be fun.
If you play the game then you might get pregnant and everyone engaging in sex should be prepared for the event. If you don't want the by product of sex maybe you should not engage in it till you are ready.
benr,
Just curious, where did you study to become an OBGYN? Oh, you're not? Never even seen a vagina that wasn't on the internet or in a magazine? I see, that would explain your familiarity with the female anatomy (NOT!)
I have news for you, genius. Nobody uses abortion as a primary form of birth control. What a stupid thing for you to say.
First, it's "a woman's" not "a women's". I'm curious to know how many women you've spoken to personally that have undergone the procedure. Oh, you haven't actually spoken to any?
Who the hell are you to tell other people why, when and how they should be having sex? So by your logic, infertile women should not be allowed to have sex? Sterile men shouldn't either? What about people past the age of procreation? Should they not be allowed sexual pleasure? What about people who cannot financially afford to support a child? Should they not be allowed access to birth control and told not to have sex?
Seriously, if you have any sex life at all, it has to be the most boring sex life ever. Sex is the most fun thing to do, and there's nothing wrong with doing it just for the pleasure. That's what contraceptives, birth control, vasectomies and hysterectomies are for. If you don't have a vibrant, fun filled, wild sex life, well, junior, you just have no life at all. Prude.
Most of those Right Wing nutcakes should learn from secretary Rice about how to bring people together and focus on BIG ideas. She was awesome.
No wonder the cheering ceased when when she spoke so eloquently of immigration and her experience as a black child growing up in Jim Crow's Tea Party America.
All across this country it is important that the democrats get out and vote...
Don't think that your vote doesn't count... It does... The republicans wouldn't be working so hard to suppress the vote if it didn't matter...
And I hope the people in Florida help others to register to vote...
I have news for YOU I know women that HAVE used abortion for birth control and that is stupid and true. Furthermore all but one woman I knew regretted having an abortion so it does mess with thier head the one woman aborted her and her husbands child because children didn't fit thier lifestyle, and before she told me that I didn't like her selfish manipulating ways She was a co-worker so I didn't have much choice but to be around her 5 days a week!!!
In your dreams! The DNC convention will be nothing but blah, blah, blah -- definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. This country CANNOT afford 4 more years of this insanity. The biggest message so far from the RNC is YOU'VE GOT TO EARN IT! In other words get off your butt and WORK and stop expecting handouts from the taxpayers. So suck it up cupcake looks like you're going to have to work for your red meat!
ROMNEY/RYAN = BOLDFACE LYING!!! Not to mention RACE BAITING gutter Politics! But what do you expect from the party that brought us busch/cheney, limbaugh, hanity, bachman. palin, beck, trump, cantor, perry, santorium, barbour, akin, rumsfield, wolfowitz, hannity, rice, 911, unfunded war, stock market crashes, wall street bailouts, obstruction, water boarding, sex scandals, tax evasion, voter suppression, hunger, poverty and homelessness.....whew, I could go on, but DUMBED DOWN Americans are still going to vote PARTY, OVER COUNTRY.....What a troubled group of Americans!
@dotties, your kidding, RIGHT!!! Or you fell for the tried and true race baiting tactic of Black people want, and like being on welfare?!? That's soooooo RAYGUN!! Wake up little girl, the people getting tax payer money are the oil companies, and other corporations. Looks like YOU, little lady, with the little mind, need to lay off the RED MEAT for awhile!!!
Holly, someone that has had one abortion isn't someone who's using abortion as birth control, it's just someone who's had an abortion. What benr and I were talking about are the women who supposedly use it not as a backup when a mistake pregnancy happens, but who habitually use abortion as a sole means of birth control, and those women simply don't exist. I never suggested that it doesn't take an emotional toll, I know for a fact it does. I have a friend who became pregnant as a result of a rape and had the pregnancy terminated. Nobody would have expected her to carry a rapists baby to term and any person that would is by far, the absolute worst human being on the planet, even worse than the rapist himself.
Holly...perhaps you should calm down and mind your own effing business. Why is it always a "friend" or a co-worker" or a friend of a friend....
Unless you are speaking from your own experience, you really haven't a clue as to what you are talking about....and my guess, Holly, is that you hear everything with a demented bias.
Yo Reedy12, fact check. Bush enters office with national debt of $5.768 trillion. Leaves office with debt of $10.626 trillion. That's an increase of 84.2%. Current debt is $15.993 trillion. That's an increase of 50.5% under Obama, so far. Facts don't lie, my friend.
Holly, you are absolutely right. Don't listen to people like schocked 2.19 or Virginia the Democrat.
I've personally known three women who have had abortions and all three regret it. To the best of my knowledge, none suffered from physical symptoms, but they lived the balance of their lives in deep and profound sadness.
On the other hand, I know hundreds, maybe thousands of women who are mothers. Not one of them Holley...NOT ONE has ever said to me, "I wish had aborted my daughter or son."
Keep on fighting the good fight. We will end Roe vs Wade some day.
Isn't this the guy who came to Aiken's support last week? What a joke!
They told him and the Ron Paul folks to shove it.. I can't believe you repubs are letting mitt and his cronies treat you this way. Especially the way you say Obama does these things. This guy is incredible
notarocketscience
Who the heck is Aiken. There was an Akin in the new last week.(a little research is always helpful).
sharrianne,
Last week's Akin is having a profound effect this week. Romney did have a rather comfortable lead in Missouri, thanks to Mr. Akin, that lead is GONE and Obama now leads in Missouri by a point. In fact, Rasmussen Reports (the conservative pollster) had to take Missouri out of the "leans Romney" category and throw it back into the "tossup" category. That's 10 electoral votes that Romney desperately needs if he's even dreaming about getting to 270, and Akin may have just handed them to President Obama (although, in all seriousness, Romney never really stood a snowball's chance in hell of winning 270 electoral votes, Obama's lead in the Electoral College is just too much for Romney to overcome.)
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/archive/2012_electoral_college_scoreboard
Actually every republican heavyweight came out against Akin and have publicly requested he remove himself from the ticket. Nice try at the spin but your baiting doesn't work with those of us who know the truth. Go back under your rock!
Dotties girl: of course the GOP came out against Rep. Akin. He was actually telling the world the views of the Republican Party when it comes to rape, incest, sex, abortion, contraception.
Rep. Akin AND Rep. Paul Ryan, (the pick of the GOP for VP) were co-sponsors of a bill which would ban abortion except in cases of "FORCIBLE RAPE."
The Republican platform does not even allow for an abortion which would save the life of the mother. Fortunately, the medical community has always, even before Roe v. Wade, allowed for an abortion which is needed to protect the life of the mother.
The GOP establishment discovered that if people hear and understand what they really stand for, people will not vote for the Republican party. Only the brain dead will vote for Republicans.
ZOMBIES for ROMNEY/RYAN 2012 !!!
Actually, everyone with more than a couple braincells to rub together knows that this is what a large number of Republicans think, you and I both read all the posts last week from Republicans saying "Akin is right, rape almost never results in pregnancy." If you didn't, well maybe you were in a coma the day that story broke. Apparently more than a few Missouri voters agree, hence, Romney no longer leads in Missouri.
If you had actually read my post, you'd know that I didn't even say a thing about what the "Republican heavyweights" (Chris Christy? Don't get much heavier than him!) said or didn't say, I just spoke on what Missouri voters and a right-wing pollster say.
Nice try, but you have been marginalized. Good day.
"dotties girl" You know for a fact that Akin was simply stating what the teabagger agenda is all about (it certainly has nothing to do with finance). Trying to spin it any other way is incredibly decietful on your part.
...Oh...and by the way...how could we possibly crawl under the rock when your enormous posterior is taking up all the space...and oxygen?
Grow up, little minion.
More cognitive dissonance from the GOP:
Vote against the stimulus and then take credit for it in your own district.
Vote against the stimulus, but get pork for your state.
Argue for limited role of government, while voting for vaginal probes.
Rail against bank bailouts, even though you voted for them.
Argue against bailing out the auto industry, then take credit for it when it works.
Invent the health care mandate. Then claim it is unconstitutional.
Create a deficit, than rail against it. (Cheney: "deficits don't matter.)
Cognitive dissonance:
Campaign to cut the deficit in half, then increase it by $5 trillion
Promise to fix the economy and state if you fail , it will be a one term proposition ...then run for reelection anyway
Promise the stimulus will cut unemployment to under 8%..and then blame your predecessor for 42 months of unemployment over 8%...
ah, the GOP talking point lies continue. The President nor did anyone on his staff promise the stimulus would cut unemployment to 8 percent. What 2 economists said was, IF the results of the 4th quarter of 2008 are as we expect them to be, then we believe the stimulus will keep the unemployment rate at 8 percent or less. When the results came in, the economy for the 4th quarter of 08 was MUCH WORSE than anticipated. But, heh, so what? Interesting however, if the Republicans had done what they did under recessions with GOP presidents, Reagan, Bush and Bush, and allowed public sector jobs to grow rather than cut them by over 700,000, economists tell us that unemployment rate would be less than 7.5 percent. And what if they had allowed the jobs act to pass- which would have created 1.9 to 3 million new jobs and which had the majority support of all americans, even Repubs- where would we be now? the Pubs know exactly where we would be now. But their deliberate sabotaging of the economy has done what they wanted it to do- keep the economy down. I think that is very close to treason- destroying the economy and people's lives for political gain.
Your conclusion is missing another premise. That being that President Obama has not fixed the economy. This is not fact, merely opinion. To have consecutive months of job growth after the economic collapse is better than the slide we were on, and economies don't turn on a dime.
This is just a talking point, not fact.
we don't have a 5 trillion deficit. 1.1 trillion deficit. If you meant debt, the number is accurate. However, the president doesn't spend money, the House of Representatives does. Also, the deficit has been reduced from 1.6 trillion over the past 3.5 years. A recession isn't the time to be cutting spending overly much, but that is a discussion for another time...
Sherry sheep, it was only 7.8 when Obama took office. Less in the fourth quarter of 2008. Next deflect please.
It is the economy, I love how you just take things out of context and print it, Cheney deficits don't matter, I'm sure he was talking about 1trillion plus for 4 straight years. You can say all you want, but the bottom line is President Obama policies have failed and he said if he couldn't turn the economy around in three years he is a one-term president, I would hope you blind followers would understand and vote him out, at least he would have kept one promise in 4 years.
Vote Romney?Ryan who believe in America
Read my lips if you pass my stimulus unemployment will not go above 8%, do we have to get the speech again, you have very selective memory, typical of the fools on this post who support this President, who will go down in history as one of the worse presidents ever surpassing a man named Carter.
John
The President made a mistake. He assumed the Repubs actually wanted to help the country. He assumed they would do their job rather than just sit on their behinds and say NO to everything. You know as well as I that it takes Congress to do their job.
I' m thinking the majority of Americans think this too since Congress has an all-time low approval rating.
Personally I think Thorpe President has done a great job considering what and who he was trying to work with. Unfortunately those of you who are blinded by the pure hate the Repubs have for this President are actually believing the rhetoric.
In all my 61 years I have never seen such disrespect and down-right hate towards a President. There has been no 'loyal opposition' from Repubs. Just opposition. And that does border on treason.
What borders on treason is this for lack of a better term "president" lying about everything past present and future.
Face it Obama lied and the economy died.
Four more years of this and everyone will be on food stamps and in the bread lines waiting for more bread.
Obama has failed to uphold most of his campaign promises but he has managed to line a few K street pockets who kicked the vig back using tax payers borrowed money to his campaign treasure chest.
We should start calling oBAMa Boss tweed.
We dumped Republicans and got more of the same from Obama it would seem both sides of the aisle are bought and paid for by banksters, insurance interests, k street types and billionaires more interested in feeding at the trough then fixing the very real problems the average American faces. Nothing will change until we Americans demand K street no longer fund and influence politicians. No more Koch brothers or Soros types pulling the strings.
At this point no rational person can say Obama deserves four more years I just don't think brand romney will be much of an improvement.
Talk to the Hand ... you ARE aware that the first 7 - 8 months of 2009 was BUSH'S budget, right? So in order to look at what Obama has done, you need to start in Sept-Oct of 2009 as the STARTING POINT. Then we have the "if you don't give us 100% of what we want we'll let the Nation DEFAULT on it's loans" and the willingness to let our credit rating slip in order to NOT COMPROMISE. Obama and the Democrats TRIED to compromise - they only asked that taxes be allowed to be increased to help pay our way. Nope, the Republican TRAITORS in Congress (read: TEA PARTY IDIOTS) wanted 100%.
If YOU have more money going out than you have coming in (deficit) what do you do? Do you QUIT YOUR JOB and cut back on spending? Do you TAKE FEWER HOURS? Or do you take every single hour you can get and possibly take a SECOND job while you cut back on spending? TAXES ARE THE GOVERNMENT'S INCOME. You can NOT cut a deficit by cutting spending AND cutting your income. That's just INSANE.
dsb... I agree. President Obama's biggest 'mistake', if you call it that, was that he went into the Oval Office as an idealist. He thought, in error, that though the Republicans in congress disagreed with him on policy, they would be willing to work with him to repair the economy and help put Americans back to work. You know... put their country first. He was wrong. They've only shown him hatred and disrespect. Their behavior borders on treason.
But in spite of this behavior, Mr. Obama has been able to do some remarkable things. He saved this country from going over the cliff. And if anyone thought that the predicament that this country was in could be solved in one term, they are only fooling themselves or their hatred has blinded them.
Awww, Bob... "But he promised" (whine, whine). Have a big ol' probe, bubba!
Antha,
I remember during the entire 2008 campaign Republicans kept saying "a black man will never be elected president!"
And all they've done since is try to make sure a black man won't be elected twice. The key word here is "try."
Judging from President Obama's comfortable lead in the Electoral College and his leads in enough swing states to put him over 270, their diabolical plan is failing. Of course, they've shot themselves in the foot quite a bit as well. Take Todd Akin's retarded comments, for instance. Before he said that women's bodies shut down the reproductive system during "legitimate rapes", Mitt Romney had a comfortable lead in Missouri. After he opened his stupid mouth..... *poof*..... that lead was gone. Conservative pollster, Rasmussen Reports, had to move Missouri from the "leans Romney" category, back into the "tossup" category after their most recent poll of the state showed President Obama ahead 47% to Romney's 46%. I suppose we should thank Mr. Akin for being such a ......well.....
Republicanretard.http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/archive/2012_electoral_college_scoreboard
On point my brother or sister...
Yeah! Just what I like to see. Baptists for Mormons and Catholics. Don't the Baptists thing Mormons are a cult?
And I know where Baptists think Catholics will end up upon death.
IMHO great post, not, that's all you can say about Huckabees speech, get a life.
It is about the economy and this President has failed plain & simple.
Vote Romney/Ryan who believe in America
IMHO, we are not voting for a pastor or priest, we are voting for a president. Get a clue. Who cares?
Yes, we're voting for a President and many House and Senate reps. But when a candidate and his party insert religion into the mix all true Americans should be paying attention. At least those of us who value the principles our country was founded upon.
Huckabee you are a shinny example of what is wrong with religion and America you are a "Hukster" Huckabee, and you will end up in Hell and rightfully deserve too....
Religion and Politics what a complicated subject. Honestly Romney and Huckabee are men of belief.
Maybe men of faith. Beliefs reflect their opinions and bias. I respect their faith, their relationship
with the holy but we have to question their beliefs: are they sound? Economics: Our President has
acted properly in Limiting the harm of the economic melt down which was the result of Republican
beliefs. Insanity would be voting to redue the wrong minded economic beliefs that created the
American economic crisis and thus led the global crisis. This is just a fact. It is dishonest to spin it
to your bias. The recovery was stalled by a too small stimulus and then worsened by the obstructionism
of Repulicans pressing for austerity at the wrong moment. Austerity comes into play once we are
working again. The Wars: Our President gets a double AA as Commander in chief. Ending the War in
Iraq with responsibility, an excellant prosecution of the war in Afganistan, and the Justice delivered and
once denied with the Killing of bin laddin and leading terrorist. The Health Insurance Reform:
The Republicans had fifty or more years to fix this injustice. Our President ended medical discrimination
and secure a smart reform and corrected this long injustice. We the people prevailed in the Congress,
the White House and the Supreme Court. The Republican bias against community good in favor of
individual self interest has been soundly rejected in every way.... Education: Our President made a path
for Students to fund and pay for their education. The Republicans do not want to support the value of educational preparation. The Rand Paul pledge to kill the Dept. of Education.
Paying for the peoples government: Republicans do not want to pay for the Peoples Government and the
rule of law, police, firemen, teachers etc. In this way they are like the Greeks. The Greeks did not pay their
taxes. Our President is fairminded for the poor and the middle class. The Buffet Rule is fair and just.
It is our long standing American value of progressive taxation. The Republicans did not pay for the
Iraq war...thus we have a debt. Values: Our President respects the individual formation of moral
conscience. He does not impose his faith on Americans but allows each their religious consciense.
The Repulicans wish to impose their moral opinions upon gays and lesbians, women, and unbrideled
greed and corruption on all americans. Poison in baby shampoo, poison in apple juice, and corruption
on wall street and banking no problem. No regard for we the people. Our President took on BP
after the oil spill in the gulf and delivered justice. We are whole with Obama even as Isaac hit.
We were ready.
Electing a mormon bishop for president. Ryan as Catholic and Huckabee as Christian thinkers are not
serious men. Bishop Romney believes that the Book of Mormon is 'revelation' in the same sense
as Hebrew, Christian and Islamic Scripture are...revelation from God. This is the most liberal attitude
ever to be tested in the American Public Square. I am not sure the Chair of Peter, the Orthodox
Christians of the East and America, the Jews or the Evangelicals are really this liberal.? However this
Ticket Romney/Ryan anoints the bishop as Christian, Catholic Jew and Muslim in a way no ecumenical
council as done in the past. Liberal or confused. The angel mormoni and the gospel of Smith
are on the edge of victory in America. Mission Accomplished. Very Liberal Tampa. It is a new day.
Some think the book of mormon is a forgery. if this were true it would fit well with the distortions
in the Republican platform. I like Mitt but I love Barack, I love Joe but Ryan is dangerous.
Good bye to social security and medicare for the middle class. Good bye to student loans.
Good bye to the freedom and dignity of those not in the 1%.
Good bye to respect for America in the global community.
Religion and Politics, like a campfire and gasoline.
And then there is Anne Frank. "Oh I don't mean you have to be Orthodox ... or believe in heaven or hell or purgatory and things. ... I just mean some religion ... it doesn't matter what."
Anne was sooooo right. You can be totally insane in many flavors.
Aren't these cult leaders / members suppose to tell the truth?
In Palm Springs CA-6558379. It is hard to tell the truth when you make yourself believe your own lies.
Hawk, if you pay attention to what is being said by the liar-in-chief, then you might know the truth when you hear it, but sorry you don't listen, so you blindly follow a person who lies every time he opens his mouth, as Paul Ryan said allot of words, but no leadership.
Vote Romney/ Ryan 2012 who believe in America
oh our Commander in Chief and beloved President is a leader and person of good character
and meets the temperment expected by the new testameny letter by St. James.
I believe it is unpatriotic to attack our Commander in Chief who has so courageoulsy
led our nation in a time of war. It is unbecoming and not a mark of a serious person
or a mature citizen. Perhaps you are a student of the preachers of Hate: Hannity, Limbaugh,
Savage, Glenn, and those who count themselves teaparty anarchist?
Absolutely John. You are so right in your statement. The Republican Convention has been a huge success so far. Great speakers; beautiful people; excited people--excited because Romney and Ryan are going to go into the White House. I hope poor Obama has ordered his moving vans because he is going to need them soon. Heck, my husband and i will even fly to Washington on our own dime to help him pack. How anyone can claim Obama has done a good job in four years has a screw loose. Like Ryan said, Obama's policies are like a ship trying to sail on yesterdays wind. What a great metaphor Love it, love it, love it. Before long my yard is going to be full of Romney/Ryan signs. Can hardly wait. If I can get a copy of that Newsweek magazine with a picture of "O" on the cover that says, "Hit the road Barrack" I will have it blown up and make a huge sign out of that also. Should be fun to see the faces of all the liberals on my block when they see that. They'll go absoutely nuts.
As a Mormon, I would expect to hear nothing but facts from Romney, all I can say now is that he can look forward to an eternity in the Lake Of Fire. Mankind and the church leaders may forgive him his trespasses since he has such a healthy check for them every year, but God will not allow him to "buy" his sainthood, he is going to burn.
Huckabee calls himself a "Christian" yet his words tell me he is a "Charlatan". I thought that he might have been a better man than he turned out to be, I was disappointed. Now I am no longer surprised at what gutters the republican party will swim in.
President Obama did in fact turn the economy around, but you damn fools who expected wonderland overnight are delusional at the very least and completely retarded at the worse if you think that R&R are going to have any better success. From the policy changes they propose I can accurately predict that we will see unemployment at 25%, foreclosures tripled, but wait......there is one bright light on the horizon .... The wealthy will increase their net worth by triple, they will find a way to just euthanize all those worthless old folks, more people will have access to medical care because 40% of the poor will be dead, and those war machine workers will be making overtime because we will be at war with Iran, Pakistan and let us not forget the China Sea excitement...we will possibly be at war with China (what a sound way to escape paying the debt that the Bush/Cheney borrowing has put this nation into.
the minority gop can prevail in 2012 but it will be a calamity for the USA and the world.
it will be a calamity for your and my children. conservatives do not believe in science, evolution,
religion, economics or justice.... they are the I people...yet we liberals respect your freedom to
to be delusional and guide you through life even though you have a break with reality...
we care for the broken....
They could, but its not likely. Have you seen President Obama's lead in the Electoral College? Conservative pollster, Rasmussen Reports, shows Obama at 247 electoral votes and Romney only with 196. Only 23 more to win and that's easily done with just Florida or any combination of 2 or more states that add up to 23, like Virginia and Wisconsin or Ohio and Iowa (the list of possible winning combinations for Obama goes on and on.) Romney, on the other hand MUST WIN Florida or he loses (of course he can win Florida and still lose) and must win nearly every single swing state left to get to 270. Sorry Republicans, but that just won't happen. The odds against it are astronomical.

The beast (666) is upon us, FOX news F=6, O (15th letter) 1+5=6, X

Democrat- Republicans and the Whig Parties both turned into the Republican
Party). FOX (Murdock) also owns 27 television stations in the USA. Revelation

Nothing new again. Same old talking pts. Pretending everything is normal. But hey, there is an elephant in the room eh. Nobody is watching the convention because the videos of isaac is soooo much more exciting. Life & death. The elephant that canceled day #1. I tell you unless mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com address climate change, they will not become a legitimate political party. It is an elephant of a problem. And the people in the red states of louisiana & mississippi are taking the brunt of the hurricane. Like in katrina. Isaac is soooo slooow moving. Staying over one spot nearly 24 hours.
But what can you say. You can tell mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com are ideologues. They have difficulty with the facts and the truth. It's why they have problems with science - the branch of knowledge dealing with the body of facts and truths. They have a war on science, can't handle the truth, and the facts. So be careful of what they will tell you. They have a culture of lies, full of racial hatred. Hatred of medicare & social security & the needs of women.
It's time that mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com admit that al gore and science has been right about global warming all along. And soooo many politicians have had their heads in the ground, between their legs, praying that it ain't so. But it is time to address global warming. Like obama has done. Time to take action to prevent any more katrina's. Any more isaac's. No. No say mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com. We are not afraid of puny hurricanes, even the slow moving ones that stay over one spot for 24 hours, or droughts, or over 200 tornadoes each day, or 110+ degree heat waves that last for weeks and weeks. Bring 'em on! - say mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com.
"Time to take action to prevent any more katrina's"
That's right, lefty loon, buy a $40,000 Government Motors Volt...and there will be no more hurricanes!
I must say, I am always amused at the hubris of those who actually believe they can control the weather.
"Me and my Republican homeboys don't want no Liar, tax-cheat and possible felon in the White House."
Too late. Alraedy got one.
Well nojo, your buddy Rush thinks Obama can.
Okay Marshall, now i know why your blogs are so ridiculous--you are incredibly ignorant when it comes to politics and further you watch MSNBC--i'll bet my right arm--with Chris Matthews (sp) and Al Sharpton. How very pathetic. Why do you suppose FOX news has the highest rating in the industry? Do you think your lame brain can figure that out? Come on old boy, give it a try!!!
Cause Fox news comes as part of a comedy package?
I think the point that's being missed here is that right-wing evangelical "Christians" would prefer to ignore facts and scientific data because they think Juh-heez-us will whisk them away to the magic sky wizard's castle of clouds before climate change and pollution become a real life altering problem.
Their ignorance is bliss, why should they care about a world that a 2,000 year old book, that's full of historical inaccuracies and has been altered more than Oprah's pant suits, says will be destroyed anyway?
Never mind that they don't actually follow most of the teachings of their "savior" and think that Earth is only 6,000 years old (not to mention that the bad red dude with horns and a pitchfork planted dinosaur bones in the ground to fool all the scientists) and the magic sky wizard created it in less than a week.
Let us also not try to imagine why he would only put life on one tiny little planet among 8 around a common star among hundreds of billions of stars in a medium sized galaxy 100,000 light years across, that's just one of hundreds of billions of galaxies, because that would just be silly. Maybe the devil is fooling us with optical illusions of all these other stars, planets and galaxies.
I wonder, do they ever listen to themselves?
Would it be any more outlandish for me to say that "God" isn't really divine, but rather, is an extra terrestrial that visits Earth from time to time? That the "angels" are merely a race of intelligent beings that serve the extraterrestrial overlord? That Mary was abducted by these extraterrestrials and impregnated with an alien/human hybrid child?
I don't actually believe that "God" is an extraterrestrial, but what's the difference between my story and the bible's? Mine is actually plausible.
The beast (666) is upon us, FOX news F=6, O (15th letter) 1+5=6, X
(24th letter) 2+4=6.
Why?
Dude, come on, that sh*t is lame. Everyone knows 666 was Nero. Revelation's "predictions" were actually postdictions, written about Nero. Every single word of the bible is a work of fiction.
I tried to watch and just could not get through it. Women must stand our ground against men like this. The Huck will take us back years, he is so out of it I can not imagine young people relating to him at all.
The truth hurts, doesnt it?
Backward indeed! I pray and hope that the American people will see through the spin and support
our president who has the USA and the world moving forward in a balanced and careful manner.
Backward may be too kind an image. The minority party/ the GOP has a goal to bring us back to
an economic depression and the injustice of no social safety net for those in need.
Yes, Bob, the truth that so many people in our country (Republicans) want to take our country back to a time when women were essentially unpaid maids and sexual possessions of their husbands, blacks weren't allowed to use the same water fountains as whites and weren't allowed to vote, homosexuals were dragged to death behind pickup trucks and and the good 'ol boy mentality dominated all levels of politics. That is indeed a painful truth, that people like you still exist. You bring a great deal of shame to our Commonwealth, I can only take solace in the fact that your breed is becoming more and more rare every day.
Huckabee sold his soul to the GOP!
He's laughing all the way to the bank now, but in the end, like Peter he will remember his words.
Disabled Voter: Actually, you are exactly on the mark! This is the guy Christ was talking about when he told the parable about a camel passing through the eye of a needle.
he represents the heart and soul of the red states. god bless their sweet hearts. really.
what are his beliefs about the gospel? does he stand with the poor and weak as Jesus did?
does he stand with the equality for all as Paul did? as he carries the water for the most wealthy
interest in America it seems to me that he may have lost his way. I see Obama more in the
spirit of Francis of Assisi...the first community organizer in western civiliztion!
TJ,
Huckabee is also the guy Jesus spoke of in Luke 6:49.
After vaginal probes and no abortions comes the stoning to death of any woman who dares to have pre-marital sex, or dares to wander outside unescorted by a male relative. Welcome to the Middle East, where religious fanatics are the government!!!!
vaginal probes? Stoning to death? I love how the left takes things out of context.
you make a point..islamic religious extremist and Christian religious extremist are a threat to the liberty and
dignity of all human beings. It is my view that the GOP sets the stage for such bias today.
abortion, sexual orientation and beliefs are a matter of a free religious conscience. Our President has
been the protector of these sacred value...freedom of religious conscience. jehovah witness, quaker,
catholic are assured their exemptions from the laws of the majority....and Obama respects this
constitutional freedom as do I.
Harry
Just how is vaginal probes out of context?
As a woman living in the Commonwealth that tried to make FORCIBLY inserting an object into an UNWILLING woman a condition of FIRST TRIMESTER ABORTION (which under the law would be termed RAPE - apparently unless it's the GOVERNMENT who wants to do it), I assure you that vaginal probes were NOT taken out of context. I've HAD a transvaginal ultrasound - when I was pregnant with my almost 6 year old son. It literally is a wand what they stick INSIDE a woman to get a look at the embryo. It usually should be done with a full Urinary bladder since it helps to "position" the uterus correctly for the ultrasound. If done with an empty bladder, it is MUCH less likely to give an accurate picture. When the Governor realized the outcry and the fact that the House was advocating STATE-SPONSORED RAPE, he demanded that it be an external ultrasound ... which defeats the purpose of the requirement since the external ultrasound is INEFFICIENT in terms of rendering a picture of an 8 - 12 week old embryo/fetus. But, it satisfied the dried-up male OBSTETRICIAN who AUTHORED the bill and knew darn well what he was advocating.
I think that it is pretty pathetic when a supposed Christian like Huckabee comes out and tells a bunch of bald faced lies for political and monetary gain and power.
"But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."
Luke 6:49, a verse Mike Huckabee and all the other radical right-wing Evangelical pseudo-Christians should read and take to heart, that is, if they actually take the words of their "savior" seriously. Actually, they really should start at Luke 6:27, heck, they should actually try reading their entire bibles, they clearly have no idea about it's contents. I'm not even a Christian and I know the bible better than most who claim to be (my deep understanding of it's contents is exactly why I'm not a Christian.) How sad is that?
As a Canadian, I must say Americans are not a happy bunch about anything. Seems like this has been going on for years. I think you guys are screwed not matter who wins though. No one in the world has an answer for this economic mess and neither candidate will be able to pull US out of a ten year recession. All politicians are liars and will say anything to get your vote...
charliespoint
Actually fiscal prudence, especially a restriction of non-essential spending will go a long way to resolving the nation's problems.
please remember that no one, no company, or no nation ever went bankrupt by spending too little money. It is time we practiced a little economic Darwinism and cut loose some of those who are a drag on society. I'm speaking now of illegal aliens, welfare cheats and politicians who exempt themselves from the laws that govern the rest of us.
Actually, when it comes to governments, they can go broke spending too little money. Governments function best in healthy economies. Healthy economies are created by taxing people enough to provide infrastructure (jobs), agencies and oversight (regulation/jobs), a decent military for defense (not offense), a safety net for the poor and disabled and elderly, an education system that will provide a trained workforce into the future, etc. A government that provides none of those things will go bankrupt. Their infrastructure will crumble. Their environment will be destroyed by a failure to regulate clean air, water, and food. A failure to provide a safety net will create so much illness and hunger that disease will become a serious problem. A workforce without job skills cannot produce enough domestic product to keep the economic engine running. A failure to provide a decent infrastructure will make it impossible to move goods at a reasonable cost. A failure to regulate the banking and finance industry will result in reckless speculation that will collapse the economy. Remember that one?
So yes, not spending enough money can send a government into bankruptcy. When you are economizing on your family budget you cut back on luxuries (like tanks the military didn't want or need). You don't save money by stopping payment on your mortgage or your utility bills or your groceries. Some expenditures are critical to survival, even in a family budget.
No person and no government can stop spending. You can reduce spending (which Obama has done) but you can't stop spending. That way lies destruction.
Unemployed this is a joke Obama has reduced spending, another 1 plus trillion in debt this fiscal year, 4 straight years of over a trillion, for the record no other President has ever had a trillion dollar deficit and this president has be able to do it for 4 straight years, he has failed and your assessment of the government needs to spend money is in over drive, and the constitution says Promote general welfare not Provide, so I disagree with your premise except for the military, but we need to be able to have a ready military and not have to build it up when there is a crisis like 9/11.
I am a graduate of UofT do not be so pessimistic.
Government has a role in our common life. Mortgages need to be re written. Unemployment benefits
fuel the ability for consummers to demand goods and services. Fairness in the contributions to
the government matters and the Buffit rule will prevail. The strange views of our minority..the GOP
will be respected but shall not prevail. Once the demand grows the economy in the USA and the globe
will heal. Ideology and bias is the evil that can stall growth of bring us all backward. Pray for us.

Welcome to Socialism 101
underemployed-please note that Greece, Italy, spain and Portugal are all in fiscal shape because they spent too much and promised too much. Some of them have old-age pensions that kick in at 55 in an era when more people are living well into their 80's and 90's
They promised this and that and did not have the income to pay . It all depended on borrowing. To use Obama's words, "they just kicked the can down the road". We cannot continues to support social programs for the 1%, the poor 1 % --actually more like 15% of our population. As long as their is a government hand-out they will not look for work
harry, you wouldn't know what socialism is if it fell on you, but I think everybody can see that.
When it comes to government debt and spending, you need to talk to Dick Cheney about that. Why, he will flat out tell you it doesn't matter. Ah, the right wing...hypocrisy run rampant.
As far as this:
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. You can most assuredly destroy a company by not spending enough. If all it took to run a successful company was to not spend anything we would all be billionaires. Geez...this talking point is PURE failure.
Nice try. Unfortunately...fail.
I would of voted for Huckabee in this election. Sorry Mitt!
Bryan, you are more then welcome to write in Hucks name, actually please do.
Be a sport and vote for my friend Barack Hussein Obama, the serious candidate for President.
The righteous man.
Your "rightous man" knoweth not what the ^%$@& he is doingth.
But harry certainly does! Why, he knows the key to running a successful company is to not spend anything! I'm sure his employees would be delighted!
Yeah, I want folks like harry to tell me how to do things right. And, harry, if you are going to quote somebody, try to at least spell the quoted part correctly.
Left Wing Nut Job
First of all I'd like to congradulate you for the most honest name on Newsvine. Second, you are also right that I mispelled a word. I'll bet that's the first time that has happened here. I'm soooo ashamed.
Now lets get serious. You method of attacking my position is disingenuous at best. I did not say a government (or a company) should spend no money, but it is pretty obvious that those that spend too much get into financial difficulties. The key is to keep spending in line with current income and to borrow only as a short term convenience, like using a charge card that you pay off at the end of the month.
Your post at 13.6 says my ideas are fail, but you offer nothing to counter.
So what makes you an expert on socialism that you can contradict my assertions?
Would most of us agree that this judgmental minister, who attempts to lead division, is a public failure?
Sorrry Frank. Our first amendment right to free speech and the honest and articulate expression
of an informed person is not judgementalism. If my opinions make you uncomfortable or
un happy just say so. Please engage me in a serious discussion and demonstrate that you
are a serious minded citizen.... Martin Luther is the father of individual freedom and capitalism
in western civilization. So we have a decision to make: Individual liberty vs. Community
responsibilities. The GOP has been trying to speak out of both sides of their mouths without making
a committment to our most treasured values.....seriously. thus saith the lord. take care of the widow and the orphan...show hospitality to the stanger in the land... i listen carefully prayerfully and all i heard for two nights was me me me me poor me and little honesty about our recent history of gop obstructionism and
the cheeering for USA failure. planning for failure... I hope these folks do not succeed. don't you?
Have you ever suffered through a Southern Baptist tent "revival," listening to screaming preachers rail about the Mormon cult? A Southern Baptist clergyman promoting support of a Mormon, political stripes notwithstanding, seems to me to be the height of hypocrisy. Welcome to the GOP.
Keep in mind that the "Huckster," as he is known in Arkansas, is a Southern Baptist Preacher. Form your own opinion!
He sold his sole.
The beast (666) is upon us, FOX news F=6, O (15th letter) 1+5=6, X
(24th letter) 2+4=6.
Would someone give Huckleberry a hankerchief!! sniff sniff!!
i am so sick of hearing about abortion. if some stupid whore wants to suck a critter out of her twat who cares at least i wont have to pay the welfare for it til it turns 18. i do draw the line at my tax dollars paying for the mangling though.
Seriously, I'm sick of hearing basterds saying how woman dont want those"critters" coming out of their twat. Hmmm.... lets see the irony of this, if your mom was like" Hey, how about I kill this little critter before I see its ass ugly face come out of me." Yeah, your a lucky SOB to pop out of your mom's waste disposel hole to end up critsizing what you used to once be. Oh yeah, dont have to worry about not paying welfare, we are already paying for free birth control for woman . Worst of all is that the tweaks in these abortion laws permits docters to kill a baby who is perfectly healthy and has already come out of the womb. It's sickly and its hard to think about how people actually support this, the mass murder of their own infants. I hope the devil see's you in the 9th ring of hell you sick little man.
Incorrect. Partial-birth abortion is banned.
you know if mitch romney get's elected we're ALL going to be mormons. the republicans want to repeal obamacare because they don't want to pay for anyone's health care but their own. when they start taking all those people off of welfare for their "welfare to work" plan but they don't mention where all these job's are coming from and when these poor people get cut off watch the crime rate go up.
They can prance out all the show horses they want to attest to Romney's honesty and integrity, but I want to see the past five years of Romney's tax returns and hear explanations why Romney has stashed tens of millions in off shore bank accounts...........then we can talk about Romney's honesty and integrity
Huckabee basically turned against the God he speaks about tonite by supporting Mitt Romney. Romney is a mormon and true christian people do believe mormonism is a cult as they do NOT believe Jesus was the son of God, but perhaps a prophet. Huckabee showed his true colors-he is so desperate for republicans to get in so he can make more money and become more famous. The same was true for Jerry Falwells group, throw water at the mormons and declare them going to hell-until they run for office-just nuts. It really tells you where their values are! I think Jesus would have been a democrat-but then again he would be disgusted with all politicians!
When I was younger I can remember all the evengelicals absolutely hated catholics. Now they are sooo in love with them.
I do not intend to support us all going backward and all hating each other. Catholics, Protestant Ecuminist,
Protestant Evangelicals, Orthodox, Jews, Muslims and all religious groups can love or respect each other.
The Faith of each is an affirmation of a higher power of a sort. But religious beliefs, bias, pre judgements
and values can become weapons of violence and hate. I commend Mitt Romney for his charity but only God
can forgive his sins that would have done others injustice. I commend Paul Ryan for his public service
but his beliefs about ending the safety net because it is costly is not Catholic Social Justice.
I commend Huckebee for being a follower of Jesus but he seems to have annointed the powers of oppressive empire rather than the Gospel of grace and mercy.
It is quiet apparent that Romney/Ryan are very much in bed with the extreme radicals. This is very sad and Mike Huckabee is another one of those extreme radicals.
I have been watching convensions for 50 years. I have never seen one like this.
It had felt and sounded extreme with little understanding of America and our culture.
The journalist also seem to be dull, afraid to unveil the lies. the lies are the short sighted spin.
Condoleezza Rice is delusional.
Rice is just another Bushwacker.
Thank you! Thousands died 9/11 on her watch because she wouldn't listen to the intel! How the hell does she sleep at night? Through Colin Powell, a real American hero, under the bus. Shame on her, she sold whatever soul she may have had. And so did that lying sob Huckabee.
First of all, you can't spell. Second, your a prime reason they should never have given women the vote.
i found her unbecoming. in denial of her role of drawing our nation into an unnecessary war.
the war that caused the usa economic decline. in denial for failing to protect the nation from
9/11/01. Failure to bring the bin laddin to justice. failure to admit that we are now once again
welcome in the community of nations. the world hated us under her watch. denial helps her
sleep at night. I forgive her. however she is a patriot in only a perverted way.
Folks, above (24.3) is a prime example of a holier-than-thou right-winger. Attacks another poster for an inability to spell, then shows how well they can mangle English. It is "you're" not "your" as in the contraction for "you are" as opposed to the possessive. I likely would not have even bothered mentioning it, but the irony was too funny.
Oh, and the misogyny was typical as well...
Despite "readyornot"'s illiteracy, we must commend him for giving voice to the true Republican/Teabagger agenda regarding women.
Obama/Biden will win the presidency again in November. Most southern states will likely go for Romney, not because they like him but because he is white. If you think not, then you don't live in the south. They will also vote in their own who are running for Congress. Midwestern states are in more turmoil because they're controlled mostly by far, right wing Evangelicals who are struggling with voting for a Mormon or voting for a black. It will be interesting to see how many of them actually vote in November. Those folks are in a real dilemma. Then, of course, Utah and Arizona will both go for Romney because he is a Mormon.
The really dangerous threat to the nation comes from the possibility of a far, right wing, extremist Congress. There is no doubt that Congress will contain many representatives of the far, right wing, extremist, fanatics from southern and midwestern states, but what will be equally interesting is whether they can work with the RINOs. Far, right wing, extremist, fanatics on this website are generally poorly educated and will make silly, novice, statements about how these people will work together. They want to throw Boehner out of the Speaker's role and replace him with Cantor. Of course, they must win a majority in the House and Senate before the GOP becomes the majority party in either house.
There is some hope here. The far, right wing, extremist, fanatics may well leave the Republican Party after the Convention and form their own third party. That is a very real possibility. These people absolutely hate the RINOs and want every one of them out of the GOP. If they see that is not going to happen, then look for a third party being formed after the convention.
Excuse me , but you are a real idiot. Check out the radical left wing communists that call themselves progressives, aka communists.
Suspect many of you will be in for a shock in November. Obama promised many things in 2008 and the ONLY thing he came through with was ObamaCare and that is suspect for many. It is time for him to move on because it has not worked for him. Look around folks....economy, unemployment , poverty...and you want more?
Andy,
"Look around folks....economy, unemployment, poverty......??"..... Yeah, I see what you mean, who could have imagined republicans could have caused all this damage as a minority dragging their feet and throwing out anchors at every turn.......
God forbid, just imagine all the damage republicans could do as a Majority with the Oval office.......................Isn't that how we got into this mess in the first place?...god forbid
Joe, you wouldn't know a communist if one fell on you. Nice try.
north south east or west....Citizens just need to use google and read the essay by the
Catholic Encyclopedia. it represents a balanced summary of the Mormon. Its a cool story
but how does the candidates world view affect his leadership big time. if that view is scewed
then we are all in trouble. this was the problem with Bush....God talked to him you see...
Smith too. Maybe it happens...but it was the same line used by the nut that flew into the towers.
Hey Rev
God speaks to many of us as well. That is part of the reason we pray, when we have a problem and seek his counsel. You have a problem with that?
Are you really an ordained clergyman or have you just borrowed the title because you think it lends moral authority to your posts?
Sorry, hairycats. I don't hear any voices in my head. It is obvious, though, that most of these GOPers do. They couldn't possibly make up garbage like this on their own.
harry, are you hearing voices in your head right now? That would explain a lot...
Yeah, God talks to you folks, but only you. Tell me something, why would he have told at least three of the Republican presidential hopefuls that they would be president if they ran? Is He a practical joker? Does He have problems deciding things? Or are most right-wingers simply delusional and think God only talks to them? Just curious.
I knew it would only be a matter of time before hairycats revealed himself. Given enough rope....
