Back then it was common for women to get pregnant when their doctor had told them another pregnancy would kill them. My grandmother had 5 children in 7 years. You are probably too young to realize what brought this all the way to the Supreme Court:

As I think it was the advise to get an abortion in 10% of cases(either that of 5% can't trust statistics :P) based on the amount of woman who go in, thats ALLOT of women... esp since only 5% of cases are actually dangerous and most of those are found through random checkups, and since most of these things happen in the final months of pregnancy... Let's say you get raped. You have the right to dose yourself with sterility pills (partial birth abortion is needlessly cruel), which won't profit you anything as for as the rape is concerned. Or you could give it to adoption (even putting it on someone's steps), and have the child without the duty of caring for a child that was someone else's doing. Or you can have a child, and nail his *** for child support. Abortion is a right of a man, not a woman. A man gets to get away with rape, and an innocent child is sacrificed for it. You should have the right to abort in cases of rape or such, but this right is really stripping the woman of another right, the right to use their child in the perfect revenge, not being stopped by it (if you can do that through success in career without this is good too, but a better one is taking the shame of rape into a child you can be proud of).

As a white middle-aged male who is also a small-business owner, I know that I am highly valued and courted constantly by the GOP and Romney campaign. I can't say that I'm flattered. Instead, I'm playing hard to get. I have serious reservations with a corporate vulture that eats small businesses like mine everyday for breakfast just to get him started on a day of pilfering and plunder to consume much larger game.

How would I feel if I had been passed by, ignored and then pissed on by these power hungry louts in their hurry to grab the brass ring of ultimate power? It was never me. It was women, blacks and Latinos.

Wait! They have discovered they are mere inches away from reaching that elusive ring of power. They now know the ring is unreachable without the support of those they easily trashed so early on. Here's a simple request. Find me a Republican candidate and explain to me how the GOP platform, coincides with the following concerns I face as a young, American, woman, and I will vote Republican...

1. To be paid equally to a man who holds an equivalent position, educational level, and skill in a position. To be allowed and given knowledge into the pay and/or promotional systems of my employer and to be given recourse against said employer if I'm being treated unjustly.

2. To be able to utilize our justice system if I fall victim to a gender based crime or tort, allowing me to achieve equitable justice to the infraction committed against me. To be able to do this, without the scorn or mistrust of the very people who should be working to protect and serve me.

3. To have access to healthcare specific to my gender, equal coverage to that of a man, and to not be seen as a preexisiting condition solely because of my gender. To not be held hostage to the functions of my body.

4. If I fall upon hard times, to have access to reasonable social programs that both empower and support my family and I, so that I may be able to rebuild my life and gain control of my circumstances.

5. In the lack of a compelling government interest and the scientific evidence that would create that interest, be allowed my right to privacy and governance of my own personal choices.

Now, find me a GOP/TP candidate that falls in line with those desires, and I will gladly vote for them.

I read MSNBC did not cover the minorities who spoke. Is this true? Just stating their names in an article does not grab the heart of a person like the stories they told of how Obama and the Democrats policies are destroying the minorities lives ... who are trying to reach the dream. Why should I prove your case for you. Where did YOU get your information, that you are now trying to tell me is the truth? Make your own case.

However, I did google it, and the only sites that covered anything like that were conservative blogs. NOT, non-partisan, reputable journalists. Also, all they listed was median pay. Not, that women were getting paid less, for doing the same jobs as men. If they don't even list what jobs, get paid what, and then break the specific jobs down into gender categories, how on earth, do you really know? Medians tell us nothing, they're way too general.

That is the crux of equal pay for equal work, you know. Not, that we should all be paid the same, but that we should be paid the same for doing the same job.

Most numbers and historical info support a narrow Romney victory. If that holds true, I can't wait to see what you guys are saying in here after the election.

Most people just want a job with some stability right now, and no one really thinks this election is about women's rights, murder, or what ever you want to call abortion. This is a non-issue brought up by the far left trying to paint an obstract of the opposing party. It won't work this year.

Regarding immigration, I tend to be pretty liberal on this issue. But, once someone gets here, by whatever means, conservative financial policies offer them a much better lifestyle than liberal policies. Fiscal conservatives want to give legitimate immigrants a job, while liberal financiers want to give them food stamps. The liberal plan makes them a slave to the system once they arrive in any fashion.

I suppose that's still better than where they came from, but far from the American dream. Liberals call it help, but I see it more as the infamous chains Joe spoke of recently. Oh well, as long as liberals feel good about their actions I guess it doesn't matter what immigrant gets hurt as a result.

It will be horrible news for American women if Romney gets elected. Women remember that a "personhood" amendment means NO abortions for any reason including rape, incest, and mother's health, with which you may be okay. But are you okay with NO birth control. If you don't believe this would happen, read the product label on birth control pills, IUD's, or spermicidal jelly. They all say a version "should an egg become fertilized, an additional effect of this product is to make the uterus inhospitable to implantation." This would become illegal since any fertilized egg (eggs generally are fertilized in the fallopian tube and then travel to the uterus) would then have all rights of a live birth child and a product wouldn't be allowed to prevent implantation.

Is that why we tried to get Swiss bank acct info for at least 1300 people which I am sure he is one and they refused to give it to us. Because they paid all the taxes. Wake up. We don't need that. He can go get on the elevator in his garage and go up and down all day. I don't care as long as he stays far away from the White House. When I saw her sit and lie about going to Costco and Mitt buying a 3 pack of shirts and washing them and ironing themselves and then wearing them, it proves she will lie to get any thing. Obama has no credibility when he and Michelle take a shopping trip to Manhattan and tie up the traffic for hours and call it a date it reminds me of Louis XVI and Marie Antonette, to the common folk let them eat cake. And if mittens gets in, how much money is it going to cost us for protecting all of his homes? How many secret service agents will have to be on that detail? I can't believe the number of people who think that the Obama's went out to dinner and we footed the bill. Guess what, it ain't so. We pay for the secret service, the same way we do for Nancy Reagan who still gets secret service protection.

As for the abortion issue, all of you pro-lifers out there can have an opinion when there is no more need for orphanages or foster care. Other than that, keep your business out of my "choices".

Just like the tax payers paid for Michelle to vaction in India with her 75 person staff, (they declared their 2 kds as "senior" staff), 70 secret service agents, on Air Force Two (according to the GAO, it costs $11,351.00 per hour to operate the plane), it used 47,500 gallons of jet fuel.

Her vacation to India cost the tax payers 2 billion dollars. Plus the ski trip to Vale last winter, the Hawaian Christmas Vacation, the trip to Martha's Vineyard, and who knows how many golf outings. All of these things require special security costing the tax payer billions.

John, Obama has played over 120 rounds of golf. With 2 wars going on and 8.3% unemployment you would think the man has better things to focus on than his golf swing.
