If the goal is to alienate the Seniors or the independents who haven't decided, then yes, he's a good pick. Good luck, GOP. It will be hard to overcome the "zombie-eyed grandma starver" comments...though I think he will do well in any debate against Biden.
Why isn't the GOP/Tea Party labeled a hate group? It fits. They hate seniors, the poor, the working class, immigrants, the young, the non-white, the environment, the planet, clean air, safe food, regulated banking, freedom of choice, women . . . . anyone left? Oh yeah . . . the wealthy.
Vote for 3rd world status. Vote for the wealthy. Vote Republican and ensure the wealthy stay wealthy and the 99% pay their way..
Ryan - the handpicked Grover Norquist veep candidate.
As Norquist said at CPAC:
All we have to do is replace Obama. ... We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate.
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared.
Norquist -- did anyone vote for this @sshole to run the country?
I'm a senior (64) and will happily vote for Romney/Ryan! Can't wait for the debates!
End the error that is the neighborhood organizer and sleepy joe.... one's a marxist/socialist and the other keeps getting lost, lol.... that's a senior that needs to be retired!
Austerity for the 99% Golden parachutes for the 1% The epitome of a corporate puppet. Generational wealth and security for the 99% will be history as the remaining assets of the masses will be sucked up by his health-care and end of life visions/plans. If you want a greater disparity of the division in wealth he's your man.
I am a senior citizen and I have no fears about the proposed changes just like I was not concerned with the previous part B of Medicare. I would like to know if you are a senior citizen? You will find from history that people are fearful of change and after they have been in place have decided that it was better. We as Americans need to stop fighting among ourselfs, make our on decisions based on the facts and keep informed and do research concerning issues instead of causing fear into our senior citizens. I am an American first who happens to be a senior citizen. I would like to see America become strong in believes , finances, and this can only done if we work toward the same goals. I in no way trying to influence votes for either Obama or Romney but what is best for our country that would improve all of our lives. There is just too much negativity and not enough positivity. A positive attiude can build and add so much in our lives. I did notg vote for Obama but I prayed he would do a good job for our country. We have gone to about as low as we can go and I am fearful that we could not afford another four years of his leadership with the same results
We need fiscal responsibility from Washingtoon. Paul Ryan has put together Budgets that address problems that we have. Only a liberal thinks that this spells the end of Medicare or Welfare, they want to scare seniors into voting for 0bama. In fact, it's the only thing 0bama has to run on is fear....fear that responsibility is actually going to come to Washingtoon.
It's time to end 15% actual unemployment/underemployment.
It's time to put an end to spending like lunatics. There hasn't been a budget through the Senate since the Democrats took control, just continuing resolutions.
It's time for Washington to put America ahead of party loyalty.
It's time to take Washington from the crony Capitalism that has been running amuck since 0bama took office.
It's time to put Americans hands on tools instead of Welfare checks.
It's high time we have an adult who loves America in the Whitehouse.
It's time to retire the community organizer along with his moronic side kick.
If they don't replace 0bama, we as a nation are doomed to become a 3rd rate dictatorship. He has got to go.
Actually my question is once again, what the heck??? Knowing the hate that the budget proposal has created how can I assume that Rommey could feel comfortable adding fuel to the fire when he is losing?? So what, considering that he must have a pretty good working brain, is up with this? Please tell me so we won't have to assume it is just Treasonous Norquist driving this thing. When it seems strange it probably is.
As a registered democrat who has voted republican during my working career, I'm voting democrat this time because of Ryan's budget and Romney's refusal to disclose his tax returns for the last 10 years. FYI. The Medicare changes would affect FUTURE seniors, not current seniors, so those seniors on Medicare now would not be affected. BUT, it will be interesting to see how companies that still pay retiree medical will change that benefit. Companies would love an external reason to discontinue retiree medical benefits.
Hey, does any one think that if medicare is changed for 55 and younger that it would not affect current recipients?? Yeah sure. If you are a senior using Medicare suppliments you already understand how the insurance people get in the way of health care, if it moves more to the Insurance companies (as Ryan would do) the current seniors would end up spending their every waking moment wading through the paperwork and trying to understand what the heck happened to their health care.
Funny, the budget should be focused on getting America moving because it is creative business sales (to working Americans and hopefull people Worldwide) that generates tax revenue not cutting funding and just hoping business gets better.
The libbies are funny today... probably been smoking obama weed!
I'm all for Romney/Ryan for many reasons... but a big reason is that they will redact Obamacare! Almost 70% of the country recognizes that monstrosity is the biggest hurdle to our economic recovery!
It's really a terrible poll question because Dems respond "yes" knowing Ryan will sink Romney and help focus debates on Ryan's wish to put medicare in the hands of profit-hungry insurance co's and social security in the hands of those Criminal Banksters! You've got Yes & No responses that are anti-Ryan!
Even his own constituents booed him at town hall meetings. & he's the one who came up with the bright idea of charging voters to come to those meetings.
Ryan's a hippocrite who benefitted from his father's social security survivor's benefits but wants to nix those benefits for everyone else.
If Romney/Ryan are elected, I'm asking Canada for asylum. Worse than Bush/Cheney & I can't endure that again.
... like many Americans uhtred hates what obama has done to the country! It's just that simple!
100 million Americans are getting some sort of government handouts! This number is more than doubled since obama was elected and continues to grow! How long can it last?
getting Obama out is the quickest way to stop the drain on the country!
"To that point, you know, if people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care," the spokeswoman, Andrea Saul, said Wednesday on Fox News in reference to the health reform law Massachusetts enacted while Romney was governor.
steveh usa ...like many Americans uhtred hates what obams has done to the country!
What has he done to the country? What has he done to change your life? I can't wait to read all the fake outrage that those questions may bring up. Its time to watch republican/tea bagger heads explode as they post there answers.
Shout it from the Rooftops! Haleluliah! Praise the Lord! God Bless America!
Looks like Mr. Obama will be our President, and of course the Ruler, Master, and Overlord of all you Lying, Tax-Cheating, Pension-Fund thieving Republicans, and all you crazy Rightwing Wacko Teabaggers, for the next Four (yes! 4) very Long years!.
Don't you Republicans and Teabaggers "get it"?
You're NOT just LOSING.
You've ALREADY LOST.
You might as well STAY HOME, come this November 2012.
Ain't Life Grand?
Thank-you President Obama for protecting my Family and the Families of all Policemen, Firemen, Teachers, all Women, the Gay and Mexican community, Florida State SENIORS residents, and all Undecided voters, from the Likes of Mitt Romney and his Tax-Cheating and Pension Fund Thieves.
Let's send Mitt Romney and the Republicans, once and for all,
yeah, thanks, Im very happy about the VP pick as well, thanks Mitt, for picking a real screw up who will only screw u in the end........LITERALLY lol........hands off my medicare!...........OBAMA 2012!
The Romster was already a losing proposition so I see this as his WTF moment and gives national exposure to Ryan the Grim Reaper for 2016. But...if heredity plays a part Ryan may not last long enough to run.
MITT THE TWIT!!! What was he thinking? Ryan has been slammed by the right, left, religious organizations, kiddie league sports associations, boy/girl scouts, just about everyone in the country. His budget is the same as the austerity measures on in the PIIGS countries. How's that working out?
As an independent conservative, watching American politics critically for the last 16 years, it amazes me how much out of touch the Republicans are with the people. Even more amazing is that people vote for them!!!! What was that about the American education system?
Ryan was a "death spiral" choice for a number of reasons:
1) Ryan is the embodiment of the extreme right. All successfull VP candidates since 1900 have run to the center, not the extremes for very good reasons.
2) Ryan has only had one job in his life --- Congressman. No business experience no national or state-wide experience and absolutely zero foreign policy credentials. Experience is definitely something that independents especially look at.
3) Ryan is a Member of Congress, the only group or agency to actually poll lower than the TSA. Ryan's own unfavorables, like Romney's are higher than his favorables.
4) Ryan has long been a lightening rod for seniors --- his attacks on Social Security and Medicare and his attempts to privatize both are legend. But so is his support for the unfunded, individual mandate to force people to buy private insurance or be fined and punished, Medicare Part D. Seniors hate Part D as much as they like SS and Medicare Parts A & B.
5) Ryan does not even poll well in Wisconsin with state-wide polls showing him as far below his home district. Walker so polarized this state that it gave him the benefit of the rest of his term only because so many people didn't like the idea of recalling him. But Ryan will likely inherit Walker's negatives.
6) Ryan has a legislative history that is close to Romney's --- votes for TARP, No Child, Part D, Wars, and the GM bailout will surely hurt him somewhat. Look for lots of Ryan's votes in Democratic ads.
7) Ryan is likely to overshadow Romney by being more media attractive. This is the worst thing that can happen to Romney, just as it was for McCain, to be margainalized by his own Veep pick. Ryan is very likely to be plotting his own 2016 run against Hillary as we speak.
8) Choosing Ryan is a clear indicator that Romney does not feel he has a chance against Obama without "shaking the etch-a-sketch." He apparently also feels a need, still, to cement the "base" support.
9) Ryan has been critisized as a poor campaigner --- reserved, bookish, wonkish come to mind. A poor public speaker, Ryan has been noteworthy in the past for making statements that were over the top, such as remarks that "once grandma is past her productive years, financial evolution says to cast her aside."
10) Joe Biden will chew Ryan's butt in any debates. That's one place where Ryan is very unlikely to make a good showing. Biden simply has reams and reams more experience in both debating and politics in general. Ryan will look like strictly OJT.
11) Ryan looses his composure easily as does Romney. If he is assigned an "attack dog" role, which is usual for Veep candidates, he would be more easily baited and angered than other possible choices. Watch for some epic Ryan gaffs.
12) And with Ryan refusing to release his tax returns, it will give the Democrats a new opeing --- neither is releasing their tax returns while Obama/Biden have released theirs long ago. If Ryan releases his, that just doubles the pressure on Romney to do so.
The problem with watching the race this "silly season" is that we are seeing August campaigns that look much more like October campaigns. The number of undecided voters is incredibly small (the smallest since polling began) for August. The polarization has reduced the pool of independents. The size of the pool of independents is critical to the GOP, but not necessarily so to Democrats.
528.com has Romney's chances currently at 30% to Obama's 70%. This jives well with most betting lines which all have Obama at 60--65% (you have to adjust these for a percentage for the house, generally 8-12%.) Ladbrook's (which has picked every Presidential win since 1900) is sitting at about 72% for Obama (and 58% antepost.)
I think that we will see a slight improvement in the polls (+2-4%) for Romney/Ryan next week and then a drop back then a similar boost during the convention, they a serious slump as the Veep pick and convention bumps disappear and the Democratic Convention begins. In the McCain/Obama election, McCain led in aggregated polls for exactly four days (the four right after he announced Palin but before anyone knew anything about her) during the entire campaign. It looks that Romney/Ryan may be unable to do even that well.
The entire Democratic National Committee thanks you for choosing Representative Paul Ryan as your Vice presidential candidate. This assures a victory in Florida for President Obama resulting in more than the 270 electoral college voted needed for his reelection as President. We can now spend more of our resources in Ohio, Colorado, Virginia, North Catalonia and Nevada to insure an even larger victory.
"american gal"???? gonna let them take away your rights as a woman?? that's american??? I THINK NOT!!! no matter what your religious beliefs - you keep them to yourself - none of these fanatical right wing religious morons will ever ever ever tell me what I can and can not do with MY OWN BODY!!! AND SHAME ON YOU IF YOU GIVE THEM YOUR VOTE TO END OUR RIGHTS!!!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU LADY/GAL
Seniors on Medicaid understand that they have less choices for doctors, because medicare reimbursements are less than what procedures and visits actually cost. If they are paying attention, they understand that doctors are getting another cut and that will mean less doctors who will treat them when the Senior sector is experiencing the growth from the baby boomers.
Ryan is an excellent pick as far as I am concerned. I was hoping Romney would pick him. Romney has, once again, caved to the tea bagger, wacky base of his party and haskissed the Independent vote goodby. I hope seniors realize that Romney/Ryan is a bad, bad choice for them, as well. How much more out of touch can Romney get?
No candidate on the short list is going to hurt Romney. They do internal polls to find out who would help more. You will never see these polls, but I can tell you they aren't the wimpy 500 - 1500 person polls you typically read. These are 3500 - 5000 people and twice the questions and accurate to 1%.
If Seniors actually read the plan, you find that there was no cut to expenditures for treatments. Compare that to the Obama Plan which cuts payment amounts to doctors and medical facilities.
Paul Ryan's plan eliminated cost by eliminating the Fed as the micro managers. He is using the same principle that automakers do with cars today. None of them manufacture all their parts. They write a specification and bid the work to private companies.
Over 10% of medicare money goes to fraudulent claims. In private industry that number is never over 1%. Wouldn't you like to put that savings into more care?
The Ryan plan needs to be looked at closer, and if done correctly, could save medicare from it's decline to bankruptcy, eliminating the best care givers from participating, and forcing the medical industry to make up the losses by charging more to average Americans.
I think Ryan is the right choice. Whether Democrat or Republican, the normal strategy is to select a running mate that can balance the ticket so the entire party feels comfortable with voting for the ticket.
In reality Romney is a Moderate conservative. Romney for the most part is not very comfortable with the Tea Party and the Tea Party is not real comfortable with him. The thinking of conservatives is that Romney, though over time has become more conservative in recent years. They have seen many who do this go to Washington and back track. Some people who have done this. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Richard Lugar of Indiana, George Voinovich of Ohio, Mike DeWine of Ohio, Bob Bennet of Utah, etc.
Ryan is a conservative to conservative moderate. He is not exactly Tea Party, but is respected by the Tea Party. They like his attempts to find solutions to our problems.
I think you have two people here that are seeking common sense solutions to complex problems. That is better than what we have right now which is to throw more money and debt at the problem.
DB - Once again - you have stated your opinion as an absolute. It must be wonderful to walk around in your world absolutely convinced that no one but you has the answer and no one but you sees things with such truth and clarity. Thanks again for pointing out to all of us who don't agree with you the error of our ways. Your posts are like wilted word salads.
This cements the republikan party's turn to the hard right. Republikans are now the true American Fascist Party. What I don't understand is why the republikans would slap the religious right in the face as they have just done. Their presidential candidate belongs to a religious cult that baptizes dead Jews and believes that, on death, blacks go to a separate heaven and a vice-presidential candidate who worships at the feet of a fascist atheist (Ayn Rand) who ridiculed Christians and their belief in any God.
Now that Ryan is running it is time for Americans to understand the writings and teachings of Ayn Rand. A degenerate fascist who condemned government regulation and collectivism, Ayn Rand, in a move of breathtaking hypocrisy, used her married name to apply for American Social Security. This will come to light and Ryan will get dizzy trying to dance away from his fascist philosophy. I'm surprised that Romney and Ryan aren't making appearances in brown shirts and swastika armbands.
VERY HAPPY with PAUL RYAN as the VP. Excellent choice.
AmericanGal - Tell me something, are you happy now that you just lost the Presidential election? Because Romney sealed his fate with the Seniors and Florida, and Wisconsin, and etc, etc...! If you want the moderate vote you don't select Jesus on steroids, okay? Nor do you select someone who has absolutely no foreign policy and/or military experience. Ryan is a career politician just like the current guy in office. That is not to say he isn't a decent man. It's that he is too faaaaaaaar riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight for most Americans whether they're left, right or moderate.
So, I want you to sit down this Christmas time and figure out how much money you are going to fork over now, because Mr. Nice guy picked a fanatic as his running mate. Way to go Romney!
Ryan is a great pick. He and Romney will bring common sense, integrity and class to the race and the office, which is far more than Obama/Biden have ever brought. In fact, what little integrity they may have ever had, they flushed down the toilet during the race with their lies and the lies from the dems and their super pac that they have not only tolerated but in effect endorsed.
The needs of the seniors will be met far better under Romney/Ryan than they have been in years. What I find sad/amusing is that everyone seems to think that Medicare/Social Security the way they are right now are the only answers. They aren't. There are far better ones out there. I think most of you are just afraid of real change. Maybe y'all should go hunt down a copy of "Who Moved My Cheese."
Akron, from my recent experience with Medicare, I can't help but think the doctors and hospitals love it. After dealing with my husbands two heart surgeries it became more clear to me that the medical profession and hospitals know how to work the system. First of all, unlike charity patients that come in off the street, they get paid!. They run lots of tests that they bill Medicare for , the hospital rooms, the various doctors, then they send in therepists, order physical therepy..insist on it.. all covered by Medicare. Sure they ask for more money than they get, but what they get ain't bad at all. Plus there are a lot of seniors, so they get efficient, run a bunch of us through and go home to the 6000 square foot home in their BMW..Believe me, the medical profession LOVES Medicare. Just visit any cardiologists waiting room and count the grey hairs sitting there..money in the bank.
It is really instructive for the "common folk" to actually look at Mitt Romney's 2010 1040 tax return (yup - that is all 203 pages of it crafted by PriceWaterhouse. (And that does include the almost 1000 pages of "Blind trust" returns for accounts invested in (surprise) Goldman Sachs. Don't take my word for it, go to Mitt's website. (http://www.mittromney.com/learn/mitt/tax-return/2010/wmr-adr-return)
Check Page 1 Line 12 - $590,000 (mainly book royalties on Page 8 Schedule C (and Page 142 Statement 9) and ends up paying the princely sum of $29,000 (minus 1/2 as a credit) as Self Employment tax (known to the working world as Social Security and Medicare Tax) out of a total income of $21,700,000 (Page 1, Line 37 - Adjusted Gross Income). I have no doubt that the Romneys will be paid the same social Security and Medicare benefits as you or I, who on a proportional basis paid "full freight" on "ordinary income (Page 1 Line 7 - Wages and tips, and Line 12 - Business Income). But then at the very end, that paragon of capitalism, Ayn Rand, could have declined her benefits as governmental parasitism, but didn't (what would John Galt have thought?)
Or, you can check pages 21 - 26 for Foreign Tax credits, or Pages 89 - 126 for various shelters and interests outside the US in places like the Caymens, Luxembourg, Bermuda, where money just seems to "disappear". (If the pages are slightly wrong, my apologies).
No doubt Sen. Ryan will be all over trying to sew up these loopholes to balance a budget.
We have the best government money can buy, and it has been very well "bought" (AKA - the Tax Code - that is made up by Congress, NOT the IRS (they only do what Congress tells them to do).
Could we give the "hate" stuff a break. The GOP does not care/has convinced themselves that no matter what damage they do to the lower and middle class that those groups will somehow survive or remain viable enough to keep the GOP masters afloat in their ivory towers. They do not "hate" women and seniors. Will you idiots knock it off...This is not about hate (well, with gays and dark skinned people it is but that is more fear of what they don't understand) and to behave that way is to argue as a simpleton. There is no war on anyone here...its just bad policies being pushed by huge corporate money and lip service to moronic social agendas. Let's call Ryan what he is...a likely windfall for the Obama re-election...why? Because 40% are voting for Obama no matter what because they like him or because he is the lesser of two evils and 40% are voting for Romney because they are stupid and don't really understand that they are being led around by a corporate elite who only have stort-term runaway profits in mind. The last 10%...swinging back and forth...who will decide this election are already looking with suspicion at Romney who is twisted up like a pretzel trying to satisfy his lunatic party and now will see Ryan who is a hardline religious nut job with insane financial policies that will ruin the middle and lower class while enriching further the top 1%. Vote OBAMA because it really is the only choice we have between while caught in this disasterous two party/big money system.
My poor dumb friend your the one that hates political groups, just look at your comment a little bit closer. The Obama administration has created hate between all groups of people in this country and you seem to think that is a good thing.
A divided Nation is not what we need. We have been through that before and the Legal American People lose when that happens. You are already lost to hate because you don't think for yourself. You will lose in life if you continue this way. Grow the hell up.
The Monster Paul "Kill Medicare" Ryan, the Tax Cheat, plan will kill Medicare. Obama's plan keeps it going for centuries. Shame on the Corporate Republican't Teabaggers for declaring war on Grandma, Medicare the disabled the poor Small Business and the Middle Class.
I love the way you idiot liberals are trying to spin this by saying he lost this vote and that vote. Im an independent and he didn't loose my vote. Im not a big Romney fan but Ryan is a smart man and he will ripp blabbering bidden a new arse and Obama as well. They will have to answer for their failed policies now.
And you dumb libs also say it will cost them the senior vote yet I see two comments from Seniors on this board that support Ryan. And you useless sheep on MSNBC colapse their post. Typical libral BS. You think you speak for everyone but you are all just a bunch of F-ing idiots looking for a free ride.
By Ryan's own words, he approved of the last Bush's economic plan, the 2 wars, tax breaks for the 1%, etc., support the corporate elite, etc., etc. Yet , it was those exact very plans that brought on the Recession. Is that what you really want more of, or are you one of those elites, who just don't want to pay your fair share of taxes, and desire an even greater displacement of socioeconomic classes?
It must have been a very good pick seeing the Radical Left Wing Liberal/Progressive Wack Job's response. Me think thou doth protest too much...
I've got an idea. How about Obama submit another budget? Or, hey! How about something really out there, far out, and radical? How about the Senate stepping up and submitting a budget?
I'm hearing nothing but vitriolic lies as a campaign strategy from the Left. No ideas. Just juvenile crapola.
Do you guys know what Ryan stands for. Not what he is going to say to get elected. Go back if you can find them and see his speeches before he came to the forefront. He probably wants the US to be a maxi Wisconsin. Good thing is they can't buy everyone and their votes. A requirement for Ryan supporters is to see WHAT HE STANDS FOR AND JUST WHAT CHARACTER HE HAS/HASN'T.
Paul Ryan, the Ayn Rand devotee, hands her book to every new member of his staff. He SAID so. See her beliefs below. THIS IS PAUL RYAN!!!!! Christian? Yeah, sure.
"Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life" Ayn Rand
"If any civilization is to survive, it is the morality of altruism that men have to reject." Ayn Rand
Good luck fools. Only the wealthy should survive in his world.
Paul Ryan, the Ayn Rand devotee, hands her book to every new member of his staff. He SAID so. See her beliefs below. THIS IS PAUL RYAN!!!!! Christian? Yeah, sure.
The great irony is that despite being anti-socialism/anti-government, Ayn Rand collected Social Security & Medicaid.
I've seen several of PR's speeches. He knows who the enemy is and what to do about them(Dimokkkrats). Since we can't have the Great One back(Ronald Reagan) Ryan makes an excellent 2nd choice. There are 2 kinds of Dimokkkrats those that eat the BS and those that shovel it. I've never been to this "news" site before, but now I know where the biggest pile of DimoBS comes from. Dims can only exist on lies, the truth would make their heads explode.
Economists on both sides, Republican and Democrat, have concluded the Ryan budget simply doesn't add up -- it will not work. Who are you willing to to trust when it comes to fundamental economic analysis -- a large group of economists or a bunch of politicians?
Why would anyone collapse poisonivy's post? He (she) merely said he liked Romney's choice and wants to vote for them. Is that not allowed in America? Or are Newsviners so narrow-minded and hateful they can't tolerate anyone who doesn't agree with them?
AG99, Who knows what liberals think? All they are concerned with is getting their weekly/monthly government handouts! If they got jobs we would see the nonsense and collapsing of posts drop significantly!
Romney is George II; his head is on a swivel, like one of those bobbing dolls. He has no ideas of his own. Heaven forbid he make a commitment until he hears it from an adored far right wacko. So he bobs up and down on the Ryan budget. Why should he care what happens to the poor, the unfortunate, the downtrodden Americans, in that position thru no fault of their own, who must have some help to survive. The Ryan budget slices all of them out of the picture. They're rich; above the fray; they don't have to watch the horror of it. Thank God, tho, that Romney is so lacking in vision that he picks this man, the worst possible pick he can make, as it smashes the last nail in his coffin. Thank you, George, er, Mitt.
Smitty: Really? That's your response? Don't like it so just leave? I'm assuming you're one of those who collapse posts you don't like even if they don't meet any of the criteria. There's no arguing with that sort of intolerance.
But silence is agreement so I'll continue to speak out against those who can't share the sandbox with others.
I'm not silent now am I. Your pointless attack on me is great. Get off the intolerance spin. All you do is complain! I never collapse posts, I'm all for taking the collapse away. I like it when you righties to show off your ass. Your a rightwinger on a leftwing blog, dumbass, having a hard time figuring that one out.
Smitty: Name calling. How mature. And you make baseless assumptions as well. I will probably vote for Obama, but that doesn't fit in with your bias, does it?
And the silence I was referring to was that of good people allowing others to trample the rights of those they don't agree with. Intolerant people collapsed poisonivy's post for no reason, or had you forgotten my original objection?
You were the one attacking me (and uhtred); I just responded. But go ahead and be rude. I've read some of your other posts and that seems to be what you do best.
(I'm out the door now so you can blast me to your heart's content as I won't be responding.)
I wouldn't even think of voting for Romney/Ryan. But collapsing @poisonivy's post is bad manners. Period. SAhe said absolutely nothing that should rile anyone evan a little.
Hmmm.....I'm getting the feeling that the Democrats might be frightened about this pick. They've come out in droves on the Vine to vilify him as fast as they can. Those who say they are republicans but are voting for Obama are probably fakes.
Ryan is a reasonable choice because the issue of this election is getting the economy under control. The man Ryan, whose proposal was a bipartisan effort BTW, knows his stuff. If people are TRULY serious about getting our economy out of debt, then these two businessmen politicians have some highly important skills and experience to contribute.
The question comes: are we willing to look outside the box to creative solutions, or as a society are we too far-gone with the mentality that only government can fix things, using the same tired top-down approach as before; that only government is pure, incorrupt as the driven snow, and only they can be trusted....
The truth is, both business and government have contributed to the success of the American economy over the last century, and both have contributed to it's failures. We need to stop the eternal competition and power lust and try to support intelligent debate and discussion over new ideas as well as old.
It's up to us folks. We need to support people who aren't afraid of thinking outside the box and stop calling them extremists. It might actually work!!!
I agree that PoisonIvy's post should not have been collapsed. I disagree with him/her, but she/he certainly has the right to vote for Romney/Ryan and state it in this forum.
I defend that right, unlike the voter supression laws in many of the states, someone's opinion should not be squashed. This forum shouldn't collapse somebody's post simply for clearly stating they're for somebody. That's not right.
Uhtred 878, on the other hand, is the epitome of what the collapse option is for.
They collapsed the post because they saw someone make a decision for the Romney/Ryan ticket and cannot accept it. It doesn't match the world they want to live in because they want to live in a world were anything other than what they believe should be a turn-off to everyone.
Of course she collected it! It was a minor payback for the taxes that the government collected (stole) from her! Altruism is not served by socialism, because in socialist countries productive people become dependent and incapable of charitable contribution. For me it is more intentional, the higher taxes go the less I will work and contribute. I don't owe you people with your hands out a damn thing. I don't ask for government benefits, but in a socialist country I am going to burden the system as much as I can, and contribute as little as I can ---- just like everybody else!
Gee, it is to bad Fox closed their blogs and left so many haters with no option but to go to (First Amendment) left wing blog, get over it and work on a solution, hate is not enough, didn't learn that by the 6th grade??
Love those nuns!! The best thing about the Catholic religion are those wonderful, hard working, moral nuns. They make the priests look like slackers' Ryan better listen.
Don't pay attention to polls like these. Evil men like Corporate Raider and Tax Cheat Willard Romney and Tax Cheat Monster Paul "Kill Social Security" Ryan hire thousands of people (Sometimes volunteers) to search the web for polls just like these then they vote for Romney and twist the vote.
Slick Move, Monster Paul "Kill Medicare" Ryan. Tax Cheat! Only releasing the last two years of tax returns eh? What do you have to hide, Tax Cheat Ryan?
If mother TERESA was around, the first thing she would do is bitch slap Ryan and Romney. It would be followed by Jesus who would set them on fire for eternity. These two guys are bad for AMERICA and the world.
As many have said he is a great pick for Romney and he will ensure a number of swing states now go to Obama for sure. Thank you Mitt for ensuring another 4 more years for Obama. And thank you Eric Cantor for being such a schmuck for Romney as well. You do your own part to bring down the Republican Party all by yourself.
you are so VERY RIGHT!!! this is just to prove how arrogant these @!$%#s really are. they are shoving it in everyone's face that they will get rid of medicare, social security and a womens rights. and there are actually women who will vote for these most awful people??? how very sad for them that they will let these religious fanatics take away our rights again. THIS WILL NEVER NEVER HAPPEN. NO ONE WILL EVER TAKE AWAY MY CHOICE - READ MY LIPS - NO ONE - ESPECIALLY THESE AWFUL PEOPLE WILL EVER TAKE AWAY MY RIGHTS - AGAIN. I lived through those dark times when women had to resort to awful means - YOU WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER DO THIS TO US AGAIN. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 - YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK - A BANK IN THE US - NOT THE BANKS MITT THE TWITT USES
The Democrats are destroying medicare not the Republicans.
The ACA, a Democrat plan takes $500 Million from Medicare. About half of those cuts are payment amounts to doctors and medical facilites. These facilities are already under financial pressure to drop Senior citizens because before the ACA, they were already reimbursed less than what services cost.
The Ryan plan cuts adminstrative costs, by using private companies to do the monitoring work instead of federal workers. Not only will this cut administrative costs, but also will cut Fraud because private companies are very good at spotting and prosecuting fraud cases. Expect the Medicare fraud to drop from 10% to less than 1%.
Fraud savings wil further reduce the cost of Medicare and just those two things should extend the black ink for our lifetimes.
Rub of green, yeah I hear the drought is drying everythng out there in the midwest but I guess you haven't listend to fox lately, seems the voters now prefer Obama by a significant margine, but keep up the denial, it seems to be typical of conservatives that expect everyone else to be conservative but never saved a dime in their lives.
seems the voters now prefer Obama by a significant margine,
I think the polls are like margarine, don't trust them from day to day because leads can melt away in the heat! I can't wait to see them next week, Ryan as VP will change everything and shut you pandering libbies up!
You clearly know very little how Medicare payment works. In most cases, for both Parts A & B of Medicare, the claims processing is not done by federal employees, but private contractors, who, strangely enough are insurance companies!!!
I think Krauthammer summed it up the best. Basically stating that Democrats should be very careful underestimating the power of Ryan as the GOP pick. Ryan is a man who is highly respected by both sides of the fence. Has a records of working closely with Democrats to get things done. He's been elected for 7 straight terms from a predominately Democratic district. He's young, from the "middleclass" background, highly intelligent, hardworking, a clear leader and has shown in the past to challenge Pres. Obama face to face very successfully on the numbers. So the democrats should really be careful about tooting their horns so loud.
Amen. He was of the most scary to pick for Dems. And if the repubs especially seniors would check him out he would be scary for them too! He does not like any government programs. Soc sec and medicare which most voters rely on are gov programs. He doesn't like them. I have seen and heard those words come out of his lips and it wasn't made up on Utube either.
I wonder what requirements you have to have to get a firearms card? Why?because you can vote with a firearms card so why don't all the democrats apply for them. You probably don't need the requirements you do to get a gov id. The repubs are trying to suppress the vote but you can use a firearms id. Well then Democrats go get em. Pretend you are a republican. That is all you need. You don't need to buy a weapon I don't think. Someone can correct me if I am wrong but beat them at their own game. GEt foid cards. Then see how quickly they change that rule. What they don't know yet is a lot of poor people vote republican or use to when they could vote since they don't have a id. That will probably be the saving grace as far as voter suppression is concerned. Besides I thought that was illegal! And unConstitutional to boot. Voter suppression that is. For every lie told about Obama and the Dems I hope they are repaid double with votes. The Bible says anyone lied about will be repaid double. And you know what Romney cannot even introduce someone correctly. He introduced Ryan as the next president. I have never seen a more inept rich businessman. Who has run his business while he was making money. I doubt it was him. His secretary maybe?
The obstacle that Romney/Ryan has, is to convince the millions of Americans put on welfare by Obama/Biden.... to get off that freeloading gravy train.... they must be made to understand, that the producers are tired carrying their heavy load and expect them to start acting responsible and get jobs...
We can't afford to have the entire nation dependant on barry's version of a Big Government, we are going broke folks... wake up!
It's about jobs stupid! Get jobs and pay your taxes... that's the answer!
That's just what Romney/Paul should tell the voters: Get off unemployment and take one of the millions of job available and we'll take away Medicare and Social Security in order to increase defense spending abd decrease the tax burden on the wealthy. Romey/Paul: we undersatnd that corporations are people and that "our" people need to keep more of their wealth.
mike430 your post is so dumn that it is either a jab at how rediculous the GOP has become or you are retarded...it doesn't even get into liberal or conservative. So if you are making fun of the GOP with sarcasm then it was a funny post...otherwise you are completely retarded.
Great ticket: Mitt the Twitt (a Buffoonish Clown), and Ryan, the Radical Gestapo Hitler!!
Could it be that Obama could not accomplish more with Congress, because the Republicans were always too busy saying ,"NO!!" rather than to work together. The only thing they could spend their time on were the most costly. wasted time, and definitely insignificant trials such as: Suiting Holder, Obama's birth certificate.
FL Tea Party, Hospital Medicare Fraud, CEO, Gov. Scott has seen to it that the FL Legislature pass severe voter's ID Suppression Laws (where an insignificant infinitesimal amount of invalid/illegal voting was done in the past,i.e: 2). Now a FL resident must show: 1.) Passport; 2.) SS card; 3.) Driver's License; 4.) Voter's Registration Card; 5.) Birth Certificate; 6.) A Utility Bill pmt.; 6.) Another Utility Bill pmt. All over just a few fraud voting in all of the U.S. And to think the TSA is a nightmare (also created by Bush/Cheney-Republicans). Poor and most elderly people can't afford Passports, much less visit the next city closest to them. And don't forget that the FL Republican Legislature has approved of fining anyone providing another person transportation to the voting booths, or telling anyone how the voting is accomplished inside the booths. What an awesome democratic accomplishment!
Even before Obama took the Oath to the office, the Republicans were too busy on National TV saying that they hoped Obama fails miserably. Then, the next morning after (less than 24 hours later) after the last election in 2010, Mitch McConnell (who should have retired many years ago) on National TV expressed their first goal of intention is to get rid of Obama. But what about the jobs they promised?? Just like all the other politicians, but far worse with the Republicans, who tend to act like Gestapos once given the power !! Or have the people already forgotten Bush?Cheney did to deceive the U.S. constituents ?
Calconservative - First off to think that all democrats, and independents are liberal is just plain ignorant.
The majority of this country are middle of the road they are not liberal and not conservative, they are tired of the extremes on both sides and just because the extremes get the press time doesn't mean they are the majority, it means they make money for the media with their outrageous BS.
This was the best pick for them as it will ensure our country will be saved from right wing fanatics for a few more years, with luck this will also end Ryan's political career. I know people who encounter him at times and his kids are not disciplined, his wife isn't the brightest bulb and he seems like a used car salesman.
For those who keep the Fox/Rush propaganda going, wake up name all these socialist programs that Obama has created? The Socialist party of America has even said they are sick of him being called one because he doesn't stand for anything they do. Just admit it you can't stand a black man in the white house and you're brain washed by fox and Rush.
calmconservative--you are such a tool of the 1%...the likes of the Koch brothers are laughing like crazy at people such as yourself when they see how they have successfully manipulated your weak, little brains to their advantage. you are too blinded by your hate to see that.
Calm, call it what you want but if it quacks like a duck, looks like duck, well you know. The instant that Ryan said he loved a black president for the US we knew it was racist. When ever anyone has to tell you what they aren't then you know they are lying. Actions prove the case and seeing the congress of no is the most outstanding proof the right has, It is about nothing but his color. We know it, your denial just proves your case over and over.
The Koch brothers would be laughing at you if they read your post. They benefit from either party in the White House. They Transport energy AND also make big money helping industry comply with federal pollution regulations.
They chose Republicans because they believe that the country benefits more from Republican policies than Democrat Party policies. I suggest you hear what they say, instead of what you are told they say.
DCC70This was the best pick for them as it will ensure our country will be saved from right wing fanatics for a few more years, with luck this will also end Ryan's political career.
In what way will this end Ryan's career. Even if him & Romney don't will he's still a Congressman. If he's been re-elected by his district for the last 7 terms, mainly a democratic district, what would make you think that this would change when he's up for re-election again. You have nothing to predict that on and it certainly won't happen for another two years. There is nothing to indicate that he's not still popular with his district.
I know people who encounter him at times and his kids are not disciplined, his wife isn't the brightest bulb and he seems like a used car salesman.
I know people who know people who know people.... As if anyone cares about third and fourth party sources. His wife & children are elected to hold any office. What we do know is that he is "highly" respected by his colleages on both sides of the fence. And very few, if any, at his age have served in a leadership role in DC. Doesn't happen, except with him. So that tells you a lot about any person.
Just admit it you can't stand a black man in the white house and you're brain washed by fox and Rush.
And then when we can't make an intellectual point based on actually facts, we bring the race card out. Got to love people who start off their message with how bad the extremist are when they themselves are part of that very group.
DCC70 SO DEAD ON...great post. Really, the best thing you said was about socialism. It is beyond moronic (and shows how stupid the GOP thinks/knows its base has become) that anyone would call Obama a socialist. His policies have been hardly at all what one would define as socialist. The right wing echo chamber has become so efficient that they can actually drop in completely off the wall unbased charges and ideas and within days morons are walking around spouting off idiocy that is completely made up or means nothing. I am not a huge Obama fan but he is certainly better than Mitt. I also realize that (and I am giving Obama credit here which he MAY not deserve) the deck is SERIOUSLY stacked against fixing the system and if Obama is charged with "failure" or bad leadership it is certainly due in part to how hard it will be to make any real changes in our present government structure.
Ryan said he is in favor of giving Americans "a choice"....wink wink, nod nod.............A choice not to have healthcare insurance, a choice to ban abortions, a choice to ban birth control, and a choice to pay less taxes if you are in a high income category............wink wink
The lies of the liberals come from the desperation to remain on the gravy train Obama has put them on.... they are worried and should be! We can't afford the freeloaders any more and there are many of them! Just read their posts, lol!
Pride and Joy, I make a six figure salary and I would never vote for a republican. They are the most anti- american group of people I have had this dis-pleasure to hear what comes out of their mouths. The Ryan budget adds trillions to the deficit and that is enough of a reason to vote these clowns down.
gosh rockkenny, I too make "six figure salary", and know full well that giving Obama a free ride as a lame duck is a big mistake! That only means America's chances of getting out of this economic mess he put us in gets weaker and weaker.....
If you want to keep that salary for yourself and others you better reconsider your choice! Obama's agenda is to make enough American's dependent on Government to keep the Demos in control for a long time.
That can not, and will not happen.... he didn't build anything, yet blames those who have!
Romney/Ryan 2012.... sounds pretty good to me and much better than the alternative!
The Ryan budget proposals work toward a balanced budget in 5 or 6 years. They do this by cutting the growth in government until revenues pass the outlays.
Usually people with 6 figure salaries understand this is the best way to go when you have been in trouble.
That is far better than cutting nothing and trying to wring more money out of people who really don't have it sitting around loose. For Businesses to pay more taxes, it means less jobs a struggling business can keep and a longer time before a better performing business can expand to add more jobs.
calmconservative...you are really pathetic. I used to be like you. I am an Ayn Rand fan. My nickname in high school was Steven P Keaton (as in Alex P Keaton from Family Ties) because of my extreme right leaning. An I can tell you, I was as pathetic as you for a long time until I realized that my beliefs and arguments were crashing into a glass ceiling I hadn't seen. I still love Ayn Rand and I live as best I can to her philosophy but I also have come to accept that her ideal is as unattainable on a mass scale as Karl Marx's is. I have the benefit of hindsight now. I had a HUGE pill to swallow when I secretly began to see the holes in my beliefs and especially that the honest faith I had placed in the GOP was a total sham. This whole "shrink government thing is nothing but a long term end game for big huge corporate money to strip down the regulations that are required to protect the environment and keep the structure of a functioning democracy in place. Don't you realize that the era in which this country rose up and swept a lethal sword of the grandest prosperity in human history involved almost NONE of the idiotic ideas being espoused by the GOP and conservative movement? All we have seen is 40 years of bubbles and bursts, declining manufacturing, outsourcing, widening income gaps, and a slow but steady shift to a corporate totalitarianism. You probably don't know what that it is so I will tell you. It means that the direction of this country and its policies are now set, not by a soviet style poliburo but by a monied 1% who dictate what we will buy, how its made, where its made, and what is grown/manufactured to make it. They call all the shots and own all of the stooges in our government. And finally, Ryan...a true fool more than anything else. Here is a typical religious idiot/hypocrit. He subscribes to a doctrine which means living to the word of God but yet, like many religious people, he has cherry picked the parts of God's word HE feels are pertinent to live by and disregards a great many others. Sort of like claiming he is a devout student of Ayn Rand. Yeah, except that he has conveniently decided to leave out her enormous emphasis, backed by SIGNIFICANT reasoning, that religion is for weak fools. Sort of like concervatives who believe in science when it works for them but then simply ignore the parts (ie. climate change) that cause problems for their argument. WAKE UP calmconservative...YOU'RE AWAKE BUT YOUR EYES ARE STILL CLOSED.
This is Mitt's logic... My super PACs have so much money than I can pick one of my sons and will still win in November. He's saying wait until the Koch brothers and Karl Rove unload all their trillions and I'll show that Ryan or anyone for that matter is a good pick.
Good Question Mar Bear and one the forefathers answered by providing us the "freedom to pursue" and not the "guarantee of".
Over half of today's wealthy started out as poor. Since Obama has taken office, He and the Democrats have passed legislation that makes borrowers pass 1100 pages of regulations to get approval for a loan. This is why businesses cannot get loans. Many who want to survive are going under because they cannot they fail. Many who would like to expand and need some funds to get it cannot get a loan. The good news is that If they can get a loan, it will be a discount Rate.
I would have full time work right now and have more than I could do, If businesses could get through all the new red tape. This includes nursing homes, industrial businesses, and even educational facilities.
Change the channel Zardoz...you would have the choice under Ryan's plan. Ryan's plans savings go back into medicare to extend the program. Obama's takes billions from medicare to fund Obamacare...so who is the biggest threat to the program? Try getting informed before spewing your ignorance.
Typical liberal..only looking at how it effects you.
Wow watt75 whose ignorant? You call someone who may not agree with you, or may not have the facts right a liberal? How do you know he's liberal? You realize the majority of Democrats and Independents are not liberal. They are middle of the road, and this pick will scare those people away from the GOP as Ryan is too extreme.
Mark my words if the Tea Party is allowed to take the government the country is in big trouble, we will be weaker and more divided. Be careful what you wish for it might come true.
More divided? Are you kidding me? President Obama has divided this Country more than anyone before him. Have you read the Ryan plan? This Country is in trouble and we need to make drastic measures. Obama is no better than Bush and in some ways worse.
No watt75, it is people such as yourself who are so easily manipulated by the right-wing-propaganda machine and people such as traitor G. Norquist who have divided this country. Turkey-man McConnell stated from the start that his only mission in the Senate was to make Obama a one-term president. The so-called Republican party in Congress has obstructed nearly everything that would have helped the country and, God forbid, make Obama look good. TP-Republicans = traitors...
If you are a business and I don't like what you do, I'm going to regulate you until it bankrupts you. - Obama to the power companies 2008.
Romney may have paid no taxes - Harry Reid
Republicans have a war on Women - Multiple Democrats
Republicans want dirty air and dirty water - Obama
Romney outsourced Jobs - Multiple Democrats - Fact all outsourcing took place after February 2009 When Romney took a leave of absence from Bain never to return. Obama's Bain Bundler Levine is the one who did this.
Romney laid off thousands at GS Steel and Ampad. These took place in 2001 - 2 years after Romney left Bain.
Romney was responsible for me losing my job and healthcare. That was a GS Steel Employee laid off in 2001. The real killer on this one is that Bain offered a buyout including health insurance to the employees that the union turned down. when the Buy out failed, Bain closed the plant after losing 1/2 Billion dollars.
Divisive is taking these falsehood and continuing to push them as truth even though they are easily proveably false.
The Liberals are spewing the DNC talking points on here, Read the Ryan plan, Nobody loses Anything it just takes the Obama pork out of it, Obama likes the drippings off the pork it feeds his Allies. Obamacare robs Medicare for the Next Ten years? Ryans plan stops it.
Well, the idiots are up early this morning already parroting the talking points. Gut Medicare? How many times are we going to hear that today. Another Liberal Lie that only the mindless Libs believe and repeat.
Why don't you actually try reading his plan instead of repeating what you hear about it. It is a smart plan to reform/fix medicare. Obama has done nothing and Medicare is on a course to gut/end itself if reforms aren't made.
Where's the Red Headed Slut? - a great cocktail- this morning? Wake up Lib, get your talking points together.
Calling people names will never influence one to your point of view. I find you offensive. and I am one of those folks in the middle that the gop wants to vote for your side. With comments about the left you are espousing, I wouldn't vote for your side for all the tea in China.
Calm I find it amusing you call liberals mindless. Where do you get all your information? Fox, rush, beck? Don't you think that maybe getting all your information from sources that cater to what you want to believe forms your opinion whether it's true or not?
In my experience people who are hard core republican are the least informed people I know, they spout off "facts" and I prove them wrong all the time.
You want to talk about lies, take a look at your own party they have more lies than anyone.
I disagree with just about all of Ryan's policies/ideas on how we should fix our problems. But he does have those ideas and policies and he is more than willing to stand by them. He has the intelligence and grace to defend and debate those positions with grace and conviction.
He is going to make Romney look like a complete idiot.
Calm--I have been reading your entries and they consist of the equivalent of "know what you are but what am I?". I thought you were trying to raise the level of discussion?
You have to admit Romney has been a poor candidate and Ed was pointing out that Paul "R-Ayn" will make Romney look even more like the etch-a-sketch that he is. I disagree with R-Ayn on everything but he does have principles and that I do respect. He just is a terrible policy maker.
I can't wait to hear the debates when R-Ayn has to explain how his family benefited from entitlements when his father died.
I disagree!! Ryan never said he supports or had anything to do with Obama so completely eliminate that erroneous idea from your head. His tax plan was pretty much his own idea and supported by many conservatives -no involvement with Obama at all. IF Anything, this VP Pick will not only get conservative votes but Catholics and Hispanic votes as well. I thought this was to help Romney....
What a gift for Democrats. Now they will really have to concentrate on enacting voter ID laws, purging voter registrations, and cutting early voting - that's the only way they can win. Ann Ryan devotee? Say it ain't so!
and the sky is falling chicken little - or do you even know that nursery rhyme - scare tactics, fear mongering - that ain't gonna work - oh and lets not forget name calling ;o) OBAMA/BIDEN 2012. YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK - A BANK IN THE US - NOT WHERE MITT STASHES HIS MONEY - OH AND JOBS
Obama better find a new running mate as Ryan will eat Biden alive in the debates. About time we had some young dynamic youth in the executive branch. was waiting for Romney's choiuce of running mate. Before I made a preliminary decision on who I would vote for. Romney knocked it out of the park. Voted for Obama in 08; right now it will be Romney in'12. As a senior citizen, I am concerned about Social Security and Medicade, but I am more concerned about what my needs might do to future generations having to cover my needs. It is time for reform of entitlements so they are around for future generations. we have for too long support our seniors with funds collected from current workers. Now, as the baby boomers retire, the largest generational group in U.S. history, there are no longer enough workers to cover the spread. We are on an unsustainable path. We must make the hard decisions and bite the bullet. We can no longer kick the can down the road. It is now game over. Like the WWII generation made the ulitmate sacrifice to save our country and the world; we must now stand up and make the sacrifice to save our country for the future generations
bgazer...that is why you are the last of a great generation. A great American who thinks of the generations to come..and wants a better America for future generations..kudos to you!
oh how very very sad for you - you are so very misguided. you are a senior???!!!! oh my my. i am truly speechless that you will allow these most awful people to take away your entitlements - and don't kid yourself - they will most certainly do that. they have said and they will. your social security and if your a woman your rights as well. i can only hope that someway you will get some sense - truly - you are VERY frightening!!!!
bgazer, great post. You know I think the people on the left do not see the big problem this country faces. I don't have any problem with means testing. What Obama thinks is... he can buy votes with his spending. He does not see the fiscal cliff coming and he has no idea how to deal with it. I pray every day for this country, that the people will put the country first and elect the best comeback team for America!! Go Romney/Ryan. Great choice, great for America.
No, Democrats and liberals do see the big picture and the problems. We just interpret it differently than conservatives/GOP supporters do. History shows something different than the GOP and the conservative extremists would like to see come about in this country think will happen if they get to do as they like.
Sacrifices have already been made and are made every day at the lower and middle economic levels of the country, so the speeches aren't applicable there. They are, however, applicable to the upper levels and to big business, but despite the facts and the results in the past, the GOP and the right extremists insist something different will happen this time. Mr. Obama sees what is going on, but I can understand why those who want him out of office would need to see things through a filter. We all have a filter. Not calling names would really help, though, since that isn't part of a rational discussion.
My dear it is not sad that we are senior citizens, we are probably a great deal more intelligent than people like you with these views. As a female senior citizen I take personal offense your comment. For your information, you don't know how difficult it was for women to enter in the so called male jobs. Well I do and I had to qualify by doing things than the males did not have to had just to see if I could carry 50 lbs, strap tool belt fully equipped up and down ladders. This was befor the EEOC! I made it on my own merits. I did not have to demand , plead or sue to obtain this job but I still had some comments made that I ws taken a mans job that had to suport their families. What hurt the most that after EEOC too many people were hired that was not qualified to do the work. It is people like you that are misguided and easly led.Pity you
What a joke! What is unsustainable is CORPORATE WELFARE, TAXBREAKS FOR THE OLICARCHS AND THE PLUTOCRATS, THE CONTINUED CONTROL BY THE POWER ELITE AND THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX AND GLOBAL CPRPORATE INTERESTS !
It is time for them to pay up and then for the US to concentrate on the economy of CONSERVATION AND NOT CONSUMUMPTION: viz the oil companies.
We need efficiency in Government, an environmentally aware econmoy who can lead the world in ENERY CONSERVATION TECHNOLOGY, efficiency in government, elimination of waste and a flat tax strcture that would benefit the middle class and eliminate TAX BREAKS FOR THE CORPORATIONS AND THE RICH LIKE ROMNEY AND RYAN !
what Teabaggers really represent are the Rich, the plutoctats and the oligarchs!
If they really wanted tax reform they would embrace a flat tax. They will NEVER ENDORSE THAT BECAUSE IT WOULD RAISE TAXES ON CORPORATIONS AND THE RICH SOBS LIKE ROMNEY
Vice President Biden has so much experience at debate as well as wordly knowledge compared to Ryan, what makes you think Ryan will be able to stand up to him? Ryan is a 42-year-old empty vessel mouthpiece who doesn't know his rear from a hole in the ground much less foreign policy, history or how to comport himself on the debate stage.
Joe will clean up and make it look easy. Ryan can't even wink at the men in the audience to make them go googoo eyed and stupid like Sister Sarah did for her debate performance. Although the gay guys might be attracted to him, they certainly won't be swayed enough by his Eddie Munster hairline to vote for him!
After representing America as a career diplomat for many years all over the world, it deeply saddens me to see the same level of meaningless public discourse in these comments that I have seen in some tribalized, underdeveloped countries.
Few of the comments here address in any thoughtful way the most important issues facing the long-term economic security of our great nation. We are staring at oceans of debt on such a scale of trillions that the mind reels, but in this forum it hard to find one single beneficiery of government programs who wants to face that fact.
"Nothing comes from nothing, nothing every could," comes the beautiful saying from the Sound of Music. Only many in this generation are indifferent to creating the wealth out of which something can come. Most of the posts here are totally self-centered in that respect, insisting over and over on what is my due portion of government largesse. In other words, it's all about me, me,me and my benefits and services.
Once an electoral majority is achieved with that kind of self-centered, dependent mentality -- a majority that will not compromise on the extent of that largesse they count as their right in order to save the country from economic collapse, -- we're pretty much finished as a dynamic, prosperous economic power.
This election will show us if we've reached that point. All the liberal posters may be surprised to see how far reaching the concern I've laid out here is among the broader electorate, and how it will resonate widely and intensely.
WILL LIKE HELL biden will chew him up and spit him out BIDEN KNOWS MORE ABOUT POLITICS THAN that LIL EDDIE MUNSTER character could ever hop to learn. he just made the DEMOCRATIC PARTY unbeatable
The only mystery is: who could have been worse for the GOP? Apart from handing over Florida and Pennsylvania, and perhaps even Ohio: this right wing indulgence will also cost the GOP at least 12 House and 3 Senate seats. Why did the GOP give away the election, you ask? Given Romney's ineptitude to date, maybe there is nothing to give away.
Romney is right: a man's character is his fate. People have been questioning his candor; after all, is he truthful that dressage and the elevator are nothing more than severe outreach to the Common Man?
how very right you are!!! no pun intended!!! IT IS IN THE BAG - PRESIDENT OBAMA WILL BE RE-ELECTED!!! Thank the dear Lord. Any woman who would vote for this awful ticket is out of her mind - plain and simple. These guys think they can feed this crap to women and they'll vote for them? Get rid of planned parenthood, get rid of a women's right to choose, get rid of medicare and social security. This is truly beyond scary!!! Really it is. These are frightening people and VERY frightening times. I will do everything in my power to ensure that President Obama is re-elected. I'm going to volunteer in the senior community where I live and ensure that everyone is registered to vote and does vote. This is so very important it frightens me terribly
I am a Senior Citizen and a Woman ..I don't know where you get the idea that these "guys" are feeding any crap to women or Seniors?? Where did you ever get the idea that the Republicans would get rid of SS or Medicare? or Planned Parenthood, my dear you are really beyond scary. You should read more. I am not telling you that the Republicans are right on everything but I can tell you that I have read the Obama Health Care Bill...... and I am reading it again...parts of it are very frightening to myself and a lot of Seniors. I can tell you Ms easy-6142753 that I will be doing everything in my power to help President Obama pack his bags and head back to Chicago. Don't know if Romney is the answer but I do know that Obama is not! And we will have another election in 4 years and if Romney doesn't get the job done we can boot him out to!
Nancy, My God, you are either a very stupid woman; a brow beaten woman; or not a woman at all. Or maybe you need the money so bad that you are working for the rwnj and posts what they tell you to do. If so, please find another job. Because your post is very demeaning to the women who knows what is going on, and are fighting back in every way possible.
Naw Romney will win Florida they only allowed to count republican votes here. The sun has fried too many old peoples brains and they will vote the ticket to take their social security so they can keep their guns
Ryan is absolutely a most excellent choice made by Romney. I am sure the Democrats will be dancing in the street. A LIAR backed by Vice-President who is an even bigger LIAR. What must the nuns must think.
So very very sad for all of you repUbs and tea baggers - ESPECIALLY YOU WOMEN. you can say all you want and try to justify this most awful pair of people who think they will ever run this country - BUT - YOU WOMEN - YOU are the worst of the worst even considering voting for guys who will take away your right to choose. NO ONE - NOT EVER AGAIN - WILL TAKE AWAY MY RIGHT TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR MYSELF - NO ONE. you can justify away that they won't do this or that and they won't hurt seniors and the average citizen - BUT YOU ARE DEAD WRONG - you are like cattle going to the slaughter and you ain't taking me. OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA 2012
hey 'CALM' - your name is as absurd as your "calm" statments about having a marxist/commie in the wh - sounds awful bigotted and inflammatory and full of hatred and anger - NOTHING NEAR CALM!! But then again that's what you are all about - isn't it - scare tactics, hatred, bigotry, self centered, self serving, arrogant name callers. BUT we all know this already so it falls on deaf ears. President Obama - a naturally born American - yep - will be re-elected. This nation is not all as dumb as you'd like us to believe. So Mr./Ms "calm" go away and spurt your hatred somewhere else. WE'VE GOT YOUR NUMBER - and it's BIG ZERO. Drama Queen?? more hatred and name calling. me thinks you protest too much??? no go away little boy
Romney shows he is a puppet of the uber right. What this does is push him farther to the right. Uber liar coupled with uber TeaBagger: which is just a metaphor for Oligarch/Plutocrat.
"Calm" (ha!) has finally demonstrated fully to me what the meaning of "troll" is. Someone who adds no substance to a debate but posts inflammatory comments to upset those with whom it disagrees. Don't feed the trolls!
Bill = The Walking Talking Point
Calmconservative, another vote for the wealthy welfare recipients.
Ryan - the handpicked Grover Norquist veep candidate.
As Norquist said at CPAC:
Norquist -- did anyone vote for this @sshole to run the country?
The tea party is a middle-class movement of people who want limited government, less spending, less debt, low taxes, and the repeal of Obamacare.
This doesn't sound like a "hate" group to me!
It feels like "hate" to a Liberal if it means their freebies will be taken away.
Well, someone likes Ryan, he keeps getting reelected in a Democratic district.
What a terrible blunder, just gave Florida to Obama, what on Earth were they thinking!
Romney's main problem is not that he isn't conservative enough or he doesnt have enough congressional experience or he doesn't have an economic plan.
Romney's main problem is - he can't relate to average voters. What he needed was a firm middle class rooted "un"rich candidate.
Ryan may not be rich - but he doesn't fit the bill.
I am glad Obama's chances just strengthened.
.........hahahahahaha..........
I STILL can't stop laughing! Willard will try to change his pick any minute now.
Hippity hoppity flippity floppity, The Mittsters on his way..................................
OUT THE DOOR!
FOUR MORE FOR 44!
Is Paul Ryan a good PIG for the GOP ticket?
I am wondering about that myself.
for those keeping track, it looks like 50% of the yes votes are from Dems that are happy with the pick, because of the consequences.
Go to hell obammy!
uhtred 878 Go to hell obammy!
Why the hate? Another example of the pride of the rightwing.
To all the haters, Thanks for the love!
Just in case you forgot, righties.
steveh usa ...like many Americans uhtred hates what obams has done to the country!
What has he done to the country? What has he done to change your life? I can't wait to read all the fake outrage that those questions may bring up. Its time to watch republican/tea bagger heads explode as they post there answers.
So your saying we should drop government aid? Ok
Let's send Mitt Romney and the Republicans, once and for all,
"Back to the Dung Heap of History".
That's a Good idea, wouldn't you All agree?
Thank you for venting!
yeah, thanks, Im very happy about the VP pick as well, thanks Mitt, for picking a real screw up who will only screw u in the end........LITERALLY lol........hands off my medicare!...........OBAMA 2012!
To: Mitt Romney
From: Democratic National Committee
Swallow
Keen Insight
Here is some Keener Insight.
KimH
Romney/Ryan 2012!!!!
Thank you Mittens. I could not have picked a better VP for you myself.
ROFL!!!!
Ya know...
Bill-Austin
My poor dumb friend your the one that hates political groups, just look at your comment a little bit closer. The Obama administration has created hate between all groups of people in this country and you seem to think that is a good thing.
A divided Nation is not what we need. We have been through that before and the Legal American People lose when that happens. You are already lost to hate because you don't think for yourself. You will lose in life if you continue this way. Grow the hell up.
I am absolutely tickled pink!!!
Romney just handed over the election to President Obama!
4 More for 44!
Obama/Biden 2012
OMG!! Doesn't the GOP have anyone else to promote besides a "Buffoonish Clown" and a "Radical Gestapo Hitler????
Which Medicare plan hurts seniors more:
- Planning to fund vouchers for Medicare-approved insurers so they can compete for the lowest price beginning ten years from now (Ryan Plan)
- Gutting $700 billion out of Medicare now (Obama Plan)
Paul Ryan is one of the few politicians who is serious about long-term debt and deficits. The President has done nothing in this regard.
Obama ignored the Supercommittee, he ignored Simpson-Bolles, he ignored the Ryan Plan.
Obama's only solutions are the same, tired, old raise-taxes-and-spend-more liberal policies which have failed time and time again.
Shameful to the Nth Degree Republican'ts
And thats my opinion
To Arthur66 (post # 1.50):
By Ryan's own words, he approved of the last Bush's economic plan, the 2 wars, tax breaks for the 1%, etc., support the corporate elite, etc., etc. Yet , it was those exact very plans that brought on the Recession. Is that what you really want more of, or are you one of those elites, who just don't want to pay your fair share of taxes, and desire an even greater displacement of socioeconomic classes?
@ Bob-1440886.. you lost your credibility as a self stated 'independent' the moment you used the words "dumb libs" and "Typical libral BS".
You may want to think of yourself as a thinking independent but you are truly a closet republican.
VERY HAPPY with PAUL RYAN as the VP. Excellent choice.
I will vote for them. Great pick for Romney.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Democrats rejoice!!!!!
I did not realize the Washington Post was a Democratic blog. Anyway, the pits are full of snakes. Beware on both sides of the fence.
Economists on both sides, Republican and Democrat, have concluded the Ryan budget simply doesn't add up -- it will not work. Who are you willing to to trust when it comes to fundamental economic analysis -- a large group of economists or a bunch of politicians?
I am very happy too with this Pig, because this pair has no chance in November.
Thank you, George, er, Mitt.
ag99 & uhtred 878 If you don't like this site leave.
I wish people wud get over this mythologization of Ronald Reagan, the bronze head. He was a dodo who knew how to read a script and act a part.
Smitty: Really? That's your response? Don't like it so just leave? I'm assuming you're one of those who collapse posts you don't like even if they don't meet any of the criteria. There's no arguing with that sort of intolerance.
But silence is agreement so I'll continue to speak out against those who can't share the sandbox with others.
ag99 But silence is agreement........
Thank you.
AG
They collapsed the post because they saw someone make a decision for the Romney/Ryan ticket and cannot accept it. It doesn't match the world they want to live in because they want to live in a world were anything other than what they believe should be a turn-off to everyone.
Vinnie,
Of course she collected it!
The nuns do not like him at all. That cannot be good. Obama is one lukcy man!
I thought of bcoming a nun. But I have bad knees
@Michael: "The nuns" are beyond irrelevant.
Pay Attention before running ones mouth:
And thats my opinion
If mother TERESA was around, the first thing she would do is bitch slap Ryan and Romney. It would be followed by Jesus who would set them on fire for eternity. These two guys are bad for AMERICA and the world.
As many have said he is a great pick for Romney and he will ensure a number of swing states now go to Obama for sure. Thank you Mitt for ensuring another 4 more years for Obama. And thank you Eric Cantor for being such a schmuck for Romney as well. You do your own part to bring down the Republican Party all by yourself.
As Drew Peterson said, he was going to lose them anyway.
William you are a fool! But that's true of all takers...
Wisconsin, N. Carolina, Colorado, and other swing states are turning redder and redder.... all recognizing what a fool we have as a President!
Romney/Ryan in 2012! More than ever...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you are so VERY RIGHT!!! this is just to prove how arrogant these @!$%#s really are. they are shoving it in everyone's face that they will get rid of medicare, social security and a womens rights. and there are actually women who will vote for these most awful people??? how very sad for them that they will let these religious fanatics take away our rights again. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 - YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK - A BANK IN THE US - NOT THE BANKS MITT THE TWITT USES
easy
I think the polls are like marg
arine, don't trust them from day to day because leads can melt away in the heat! I can't wait to see them next week, Ryan as VP will change everything and shut you pandering libbies up!DB -
You clearly know very little how Medicare payment works. In most cases, for both Parts A & B of Medicare, the claims processing is not done by federal employees, but private contractors, who, strangely enough are insurance companies!!!
In fact, here they all are http://www.cms.gov/About-CMS/Contracting-With-CMS/ContractingGeneralInformation/downloads/02_ICdirectory.pdf
for a few...
Florida, USVI, Puerto Rico - BC/BS of Florida
Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee - BC/BS of Alabama
Connecticut, New York - Wellpoint
California, Hawaii, Nevada - BC/BS of So. Carolina ??!!
Sure sounds more like Republican B.S. !!
In the last hour democrats have been wildly energized to get out and vote down this Romney/Ryan ticket.
That does even make sense. Where do I go today to vote down this ticket?
What a dork!
Romney/Ryan 2012
That's just what Romney/Paul should tell the voters: Get off unemployment and take one of the millions of job available and we'll take away Medicare and Social Security in order to increase defense spending abd decrease the tax burden on the wealthy. Romey/Paul: we undersatnd that corporations are people and that "our" people need to keep more of their wealth.
This might be the spark that grows the bonfire that burns Republican ideology at the stake..
Bill, the welfare group is historically the lowest percentages turnout in any election.
mike430 your post is so dumn that it is either a jab at how rediculous the GOP has become or you are retarded...it doesn't even get into liberal or conservative.
I voted "yes" because I think it's good for the President's re-election.
I don't think the majority of people want to have the country that the Ryan budget will bring. Nor do we want Ayn Rand as Vice President.
I voted the same way so the vote is really meaningless and depends on WHY people voted the way they did
........your votes are meaningless. Speak for yourself.
Liberals think they are the smartest people in the room while the majority laughs behind their back.
No kidding. It's gonna be fun watching people get to know
whowhat Paul Ryan really is.Calconservative - First off to think that all democrats, and independents are liberal is just plain ignorant.
Oh brother...........the race card?
AAAHAHAhahahahhahaa...........I can't stand a Marxist/Commie in the WH.
Period!
Like pres healthcare program huh
calmconservative--you are such a tool of the 1%...the likes of the Koch brothers are laughing like crazy at people such as yourself when they see how they have successfully manipulated your weak, little brains to their advantage. you are too blinded by your hate to see that.
You obviously wouldn't recognize either a "commie" or a Marxist if they bit you on the ass.
Fixed that for ya.
Goldenone
The Koch brothers would be laughing at you if they read your post. They benefit from either party in the White House. They Transport energy AND also make big money helping industry comply with federal pollution regulations.
They chose Republicans because they believe that the country benefits more from Republican policies than Democrat Party policies. I suggest you hear what they say, instead of what you are told they say.
OBXRON has to add in winks and nods to try to be relevant.
Pathetic.
Making it all kinda personal, aren't you?
"Calm"?
Sorry calm but that's the republican way.
DON'T TAKE MY RIGHTS AWAY, But it's ok to take others rights away.
Both parties are full of hypocrisy but the Republicans are way ahead in that catagory.
Another thing to consider is the Tea Party(which Ryan is part of) wants to cut EVERYTHING, that includes a large cut in defense.
Nope, just telling the truth.
If your six figure salary is over 250,000, do not forget that the Obama Administration thinks you are RICH.
Rock Kenny
I don't believe the 6 figure salary a second.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever read.
Best line of Ryan's speech, we promise equal opportunity not equal outcome...sums up the difference between the 2 parties quite nicely.
R&R 2012
And if a person is not born to a 99%er does a person really have equal opportunity?
Not really. Obama says you cannot get there without help! Unless it is "equal" help.
And your comments may not be the stupidest I've ever read, but they're pretty far up the list.
R/R 2012 for a return to some sanity in life.
I was born in 1959. Ryan would put me on the wrong side of the Medicare fence he would create. No thanks!
You are the one that is ill informed my friend.
Really Richard? Read the Ryan plan and get back to me..
This is being divisive
If you are rich, you are going to pay more
If you are a business and I don't like what you do, I'm going to regulate you until it bankrupts you.
DB Akron - Lets not forget that Obama outsourced not only jobs, but OUR tax money as well. Money we didn't have to lose.
Obama has worked really hard to drive wedges between the different groups of this country and what's sad, really sad, is that it has worked so well.
The redhead is furiously getting her talking points together.
@calm
Calling people names will never influence one to your point of view. I find you offensive. and I am one of those folks in the middle that the gop wants to vote for your side. With comments about the left you are espousing, I wouldn't vote for your side for all the tea in China.
Oh please, if I have that much influence over your vote, you need to get your head examined.
Feisty could be like me, I'm still laughing so hard, I can barely type!
Best news I've heard in a while!
Just too hilarious.
I disagree with just about all of Ryan's policies/ideas on how we should fix our problems. But he does have those ideas and policies and he is more than willing to stand by them. He has the intelligence and grace to defend and debate those positions with grace and conviction.
He is going to make Romney look like a complete idiot.
.........no more than you do.
I can't wait to hear the debates when R-Ayn has to explain how his family benefited from entitlements when his father died.
...........and your little "R-Ayn" quip is so elevating.
Grow up Jack Ass.
calm,
Bet you never studied up on the best way to make friends and influence people. Hope you never have to interview for a job!
Don't need to, I have a job.
I'm not here to make friends or influence people.
Hard core Libs are a lost cause and will be the death of this country.
If you have to study up on how to make friends, you've got bigger problems to worry about.
romney doesn't need anyone to make him look like an idiot...he has already quite successfully accomplished that all on his own...
Yayyyy! Proves once again, in spades, how totally clueless Romney is. This will ensure an Obama win.
It's only right. Who wants a president who is so inept and incompetent.
We don't. That's why we'll vote Obama out in November.
and the sky is falling chicken little - or do you even know that nursery rhyme - scare tactics, fear mongering - that ain't gonna work - oh and lets not forget name calling ;o) OBAMA/BIDEN 2012.
It is people like you that are misguided and easly led.Pity you
You never voted for Obama, admit it.
WAKE UP AMERICA!
THEY ARE LIARS AND FRAUDS !
Great pick and now we have two people that know what they are doing and can get the job done.
If by job you mean destroying the US economy, yes Romney-Ryan will get the job done.
Great choice, Romney. Independents, Obama. Seniors, Obama. Women, Obama. And Romney's gaff, priceless! cd in SA, FL
It isn't in the bag. Not at all, so your hard work will make a difference.
Obama is out there telling the truth every day huh?
AAAAHAhaahhahhahaha..............
OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA 2012
.........can we say " Drama Queen " !
hey 'CALM' - your name is as absurd as your "calm" statments about having a marxist/commie in the wh - sounds awful bigotted and inflammatory and full of hatred and anger - NOTHING NEAR CALM!!
Easy is right Calm..you are in denial.
Totally in denial. And you have no life. Your comments are allllllll over these articles.
Romney shows he is a puppet of the uber right.
What this does is push him farther to the right.
Uber liar coupled with uber TeaBagger: which is just a metaphor for Oligarch/Plutocrat.
Ryan wants to destroy Medicare. There goes the senior vote, except for the one percent. Florida is now leaning Obama.
Only Lemmings believe that.
Get a clue.
"Calm" (ha!) has finally demonstrated fully to me what the meaning of "troll" is. Someone who adds no substance to a debate but posts inflammatory comments to upset those with whom it disagrees. Don't feed the trolls!
