Sen. Marco Rubio's plane makes safe emergency landing; he misses Iowa rally

An aircraft carrying Sen. Marco Rubio to a rally for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney made a safe emergency landing in Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday with an electrical problem, an aide said.

The information office at the Albuquerque airport told NBC News that the pilots reported that a sensor had gone off indicating an electrical issue. The plane landed at 3:58 p.m. local time and taxied under its own power, the office said. Rubio was flying from Las Vegas on a private plane.

Tweets from Rubio's Twitter account said that he was unable to make it to the Des Moines rally but still managed to speak to the crowd via cell phone. According to one tweet, this was the second plane that Rubio had been on on Saturday that had a problem: "I know how to take a hint!"

Rubio, a Republican from Florida, has been spoken of as a possible vice presidential choice for Romney and has made appearances on his behalf.

I'm glad you said this because Rubio is not one of them. I don't think that the right would have found it troubling if the plane had been carrying a Obama supporter and it had crashed with everyone on board and there were no survivors so why should it be any different for the left??? The only defense that I can offer for this is that while we do not support what Rubio stands for and supports, we still wouldn't want him dead.

Wow, how pathetic. You all are like a bunch of pre-adolescents holding a playground pissing contest. Here's a hint, point away from the wind because you're just getting it all over yourselves.

If you were children, your behavior would just be embarrassing. For adults it's nearly impossible to characterize. Pathetic. Grow up.

Arthur 66... do you LIVE in Florida? Rubio has done NOTHING for the state. He votes completely straight line repube-licking party with no deference to what Floridians want or need. Senator Bill Nelson, on the other hand, seems to ALWAYS have Florida in mind when he votes. Rubio doesn't even vote with the "tea" party, but with the repube-licking majority.

I know at this point that Liberals are the most hate filled, venomous, mouth breathing, anal-retentive, bottom feeders the world has ever seen.......at least after Muslims.

At one time, way back when, a Liberal would have said: "Live, and let live". I used to at least have respect for that, but now, even that is gone. You "people" are a completely lost cause.

              ______________________________________________________________________________

I believe we won the Iraq War -

The mistake was trying to reconstruct it. It is now quite well known that the left controlled media lied to all of us about there being no WMD's in Iraq. Don't make me go there because there is plenty of evidence.

Saddam Hussein is credited with attacking 7 countries, and of being responsible for near 2,000,000 deaths. We killed him; that is a win to me.

              Afghanistan

              - I believe the president Bushs approval rating was 97% when we went into Afghanistan to hunt down terrorists on their home turf instead of waiting for more, and perhaps much more devastating attacks on America. We all cheered their deployment over there, I know because it was all over the news at that time. Virtually all of the United States, and much of the world cheered when we went after them.

Did we win that war ? Well, there have been no more attacks on us, so I would say yes.

Don't forget the Civil War - The party of Lincoln that war we lost 500,000 men to free the slaves of North America.

Really want to talk about wars Clayton-548726 ???????????????

I have been one of the most outspoken about Penn State. Look up any one of the articles.

I think they should be fined 150 million+, lose all future federal grants, the students and faculty should leave and find other schools and jobs, that a full investigation needs to be done to expose every single person that knew and did nothing, all federal funding should cease, and the NCAA should evict all of their sports permanently.

              Look it up.

#3) I think the entire institution of Penn State should cease to exist. Why ? To serve as a warning to all other institutions of what can happen because they knowingly allowed him to continue raping children.

Speaking of train wrecks, anyone else think Obama and Biden will sound (as usual) like beavis and butthead when they debate the Romney/Rubio ticket? Obama may be the worst speaker I've ever heard, and Biden even if sober, is unintelligible.

I'd prefer Rubio was at the top of the ticket, but both are worlds better than those creatures in the WH now.

Good luck with that! I suppose you think that both of the Bushes were great speakers? Pathetic. If you don't understand what President Obama is saying, it's not his fault.

I'm glad neither of the planes crashed. What are the odds of this happening twice in one day? I think I'd consider taking the train if this happened to me. And yes, I know flying is much safer, still...

OMG! Have you lost your mind? Fartgo Rubio and Twit Romney? What a pair of losers! Neither one can compare to the intelligence and statesmanship of Barack Obama. Granted Joe Biden has a bad case of foot in mouth disease, but even he comes out like a diamond compared to those two! Twit has just set US/GB relations back a couple of decades with is recent visit! And they are our closest ally! WTF????

Still, since unlike some right wing nutcases, I don't wish people dead...glad his plane didn't crash.

Rubio won't even get the Hispanic vote because he betrays them at every turn. As soon as he got into office he completely abandoned the entire Hispanic population (and the entire non-Hispanic population) of Florida. He even dumped the "tea" party and began to vote completely with the repube-licking party line. He doesn't support his own state, so why would anyone expect him to do anything for the entire USA? He is only concerned with is own pocketbook and power.

Also, all president's campaign funds are required to pay for campaign use of the plane. Here's another little tid-bit for you; no president is allowed to fly on private or commercial planes. Why? Because only A.F. One has all of the necessary communications equipment and safety devices required. DUH!

Sorry, Kurt, but the President has no choice but to "jet around" on AirForce one... because any plane flies on is automatically designated "AirForceOne". He also has no choice regarding taking his Secret Service bodyguards with him wherever he goes. That requirement was created by an act of Congress. As a candidate for reelection he is required to show up at many fund raising events, and he has absolutely no choice but to have his bodyguards go with him. If you want that changed, petition congress, but do NOT blame Obama.

I had to print this again, because I do not know anybody, but a complete lunatic that wants the middle class azz's kissed good-bye? Without the middle class you would be sitting in the dark waiting for the bombs to blast your azz goodbye. This guy is obviously a 1%er who inherited his wealth or a complete and total idiot. I actually think I made a comment that cannot be argued, the left and the right can actually agree with me.

The average 88 percent non-union, employed, with health insurance, done putting kids through college, with a mortgage that isn't under water. Convince me that I'm better off than I was 4 years ago, and will be in even better shape in the next 4 because of these policies.
