Once a rising star, the Illinois Representative has not been seen in Congress since early June. Friends and colleagues say Jackson was being treated at a facility in Arizona. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports.
Illinois Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. faced new pressure from Democratic leaders Wednesday to explain his month-long absence from Congress, even as friends and colleagues tell NBC News that he has been at a treatment facility in Arizona.
A family friend who is in close touch with Jackson’s parents says the congressman is suffering from “severe clinical depression” and has an alcohol problem – although his wife and staff have a different view of his condition.
His wife, Sandi Jackson, texted NBC Chicago on Wednesday saying that her husband is “not in rehab.” His staff issued a statement denying Jackson was being treated for alcoholism – they say he is being treated for a “mood disorder.”
“The Congressman is receiving intensive medical treatment at a residential facility for a mood disorder,” his office said in the statement. “He is responding positively to treatment and expected to make a full recovery.”
A statement from Jackson’s physician also said that he is responding well.
Jackson’s father, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, Sr. told NBC Chicago on Tuesday that his son is under medical supervision and is slowly regaining his strength.
"He is taking his time in his recovery and of course we pray for him and of course the family embraces him. We love him so much," Jesse Jackson, Sr. said.
Jackson has missed more than 80 votes and has not been seen in Congress since early last month, which has not settled well with Democratic colleagues.
Representative Steny Hoyer, Democrat from Maryland, said the congressman and his family should "advise the constituents of his condition. He’s obviously facing a health problem.”
Jackson still faces a House Ethics Committee investigation into whether he used his office to compel former Governor Rod Blagojevich to appoint him to the Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama in 2008. A former fundraiser for Jackson was arrested on June 20 by federal prosecutors in Illinois on unrelated charges. There have also been reported marital problems.
On Wednesday, a close friend of Jackson’s told NBC, "This has all come down on him like an avalanche and there is a good possibility he will have to resign."
Capitol Hill correspondent Kelly O’Donnell contributed to this report.

I beat Feisty! Not that she would ever comment on this post because it involves "another" Democrat with "issues" but still an accomplishment.
So I guess a "mood disorder" is reason enough to take the summer off for a politician. Sure wish I had that luxury because I'm feeling a little "moody" right now.
Glad to see the media digging into this story 4 weeks late. I guess the liberal "pass" was given in this situation. I can't imagine a Republican doing this, they would have media people all over them. MSDNC and the rest of our "national media" should be ashamed of the way they are reporting news.
Jackson should know by now when you lie to the media someone always fiinds out and then it is a big deal. Apparently his vision of the truth is similar to his fathers.
In 21st century America there are many people with significant problems some involving mental health with and without substance abuse. It's time we took our heads out of the sand and stop denigrating those with the courage to seek help. My great fear is for those who should but don't.
And this POS is making decisions that affect my life and my children's lives?!?!?
Thanks Chicago.....you EFFING losers!
apple doesn't fall to far from the tree in this family.. unlike in the past were news was a nightly news and newspaper thing now it is 24 hrs cable and internet and that is were he will get found out, however this is chicago and they like there elected officials corrupt and will re-elect this ass clown again.. unless the democratic party force him out because of bad press.. that links the potus to him because of the spot he took over and the scandal of him buying the seat.. which is still pending, so yes they will force him out and blame it on racists or bush ! doesn't really matter to the liberals what ever it takes to win !!!!
Hmmm... Most people who drink or drug, or both, to excess are self-medicating. People self-medicate to feel good or feel better about themselves. This condition happens when there is either an undiagnosed, or diagnosed but untreated, mental health condition.
There is a full range of mental health issues that contribute to the need to self-medicate. Those would include, but not be limited to: stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar, to name just a few. Sometimes, there are two or more conditions presenting with the substance abuse. At that point, there is co-morbidity. There is no easy fix; but once there is a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan, it is a workable situation for a better life outcome.
At least he is in treatment, and hopefully, it would be a very comprehensive treatment plan that would include the mental health issues. One thing for sure, he must have a very good looking mother.
I called this a week ago when the story appeared in the Orange County Register. But I don't believe for one moment it is alcohol. More likely it is prescription drugs or illegal drugs. You know those Democrats love their illegal drugs. How else could they be so delusional?
We need to be more sympathetic to the fact that he has had to weather all that comes with money, power, fame and having everything fall or put into place for him his whole life. This is the cross that children of celebs have to bear, poor souls, imagine having EVERYTHING your whole life. It almost gives me a mood disorder to think of what he has had to bear! Don't worry, between his family money and your tax money he'll manage.
I logged on not to comment, but to see if the libs were going to heap the same hateful s**t on Rep Jackson that they still heap on Limbaugh for his addiction "problem". Funny, I'm not finding anything.
@Sandy (above): "It's time we took our heads out of the sand" and saw what kind of worthless people are being elected to high office, in charge of making life and death decisions.
jesse jackson junior...you can call me j...or you can call me j.j...or you can call me j.j.j...
"Jackson still faces a House Ethics Committee investigation into whether he used his office to compel former Governor Rod Blagojevich to appoint him to the Senate seat vacated by President Barrack Obama in 2008"
And that my friends is where a "mood disorder" originates. The other "mood disorder" (ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich) is already in long term care.
Thats not what he said earlier today, he said it was much worse than they had thought!
Guess GUILT does that to a person...
I would just like to know...
...what is wrong with you people in Illinois? Are you in love with corrupt sideshow hacks? Are you stupid? Do you actually vote for these people? Would you please stop elevating the most despicable, the most corrupt, the most vile people in your state to office. Your choices in representatives have about destroyed this nation.
"Worthless" is it bc hes black? anyone can have problems you know. I'm glad hes getting some kind of help. Lets stop looking down on others who come out and say they have a problem.
If that were my biggest accomplishment in life, I'd feel a little "moody" too.
just not believable that Jackson needs rehab.... maybe the Feds are ready to arrested him?
where are you Jackson for real..........
The Congressman is receiving intensive medical treatment at a residential facility for a mood disorder,” his office said in the statement. “He is responding positively to treatment and expected to make a full recovery.”
The disorder is called "Liberalism". The cure is called taking responsibility for yourself and your own actions.
WOW! Really? Is he all tuckered out from all that hard physical labor he does as a criminal politician? Give me a freaken break. Millions and millions of everyday Americans work their fingers to the bone 5-6-7 days a week to make ends meet and have a right to complain about how worn out as they are trying to support their families and put food on the table all the while paying for politicians salaries and this whimp is worn out by sitting behind a desk all day? PU$$Y!
Okay everyone queue up the Eddie Murphy song from the 1980s My girl wants to party all the time...
The Reveruhnd Jesse Sr. was so busy race-shaking corporations and chasing tail that he forgot he had a son to raise.
I hope he gets the help he needs, and then I hope he passes the doctors name to the rest of DC...But as a political animal, is seem he would have picked a more politically friendly states to seek treatment...what NY, Cali, Illinoise couldn't provide the healthcare that Arizona can???
well...we all want a woman...like jessie's girl...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiaKiqIsi2s
Jackson, it is just not believable that you are in rehab... did you find out that the Feds want to arrest you?
Where is your team? Who will vote for you now?
Spider said:
Spider you missed the point. The reason people 'heaped' on Limbaugh was not about his addiction, but about his hypocrisy of saying people with drug problems/addictions should be thrown in prison. Same as Newt 'heaping' on Clinton for his extra curricular marital dalliances, while he was cheating on his wife.
Addictions, infidelity we can forgive. Hypocrisy is a different matter.
I support anyone who seeks help on substance or mental issues, it takes courage to face up to that, and even more to beat it back, and untold strength to win the war for the rest of your life.
I know, I won that battle 13 years ago. I have now helped a number of my old friends get clean and sober. And I am helping another one right now, and he is winning the battles...sometimes a slip up...but the progression has been very good and I know he will win a clean life.
I don't know Jesse Jackson Jrs political stands, I assume he is a bit more liberal than I ever will be. But that has nothing to do with my best wishes to him to win this. And he does not need intense media scrutiny while he fights
Why all the secrecy? It's not like he's there for a lobotomy. Thank goodness for the health care benefits that all Washington Politicians enjoy at the voters and taxpayers' expense.
lets start drug testing our representatives in the house and senate as well as the president before they can vote on or sign any bill
I see a real problem with Jackson Jr. It ain't alcohol, it's like the Washington D.C. deal I think... He's using drugs and he's a drop-out! Use every description in the books, but don't point to the real description, the media might jump on it!
This guy is using or otherwise he would give a damn! Alcoholics and pill users have no loss of opinion and he'd be there (during congressional sessions) if it was that. It's got to be something in the glass pipe area.... That's where users don't want to socialize with anybody except their desires..
Alcoholics get themselves in trouble and speak out too much. Pill users think they are normal and will speak out as well. Glass pipe (crack) people seek isolation and no contact with anyone other than their desires.... It's pretty easy to see what's going on there. It isn't alcohol!
and they say MSN is biased.. they're obviously calling him a big fat stinking drunk and hurting obama's chances now with this article. what if he really does have mood disorder and it's called "politicians piss me the hell off" ? i'd be in rehab if my job was to talk to them, too.
hey frank...was he crackalacking...
Maybe Jesse should spend more time worrying about his OWN son than Trayvon!
So when can we expect you to start getting cured?
With any politician whose personal issues come to light, be they black or white, Democrat or Republican, man or woman, I always operate on the theory that the true situation in at least twice as bad as described in the public media.
Chances are Congressman Jackson was one seriously messed up dude prior to taking this sabbatical.
What's that old saying, Like Father, Like Son? No truer words spoken.
His depression must stem from being named after his father. Maybe he will be cured in this Arizona asylum and he will be convinced that his real name is Mary.
Sure it's an alcohol problem.........."Jesse does crack and I don't care" (to the tune of Jimmy crack corn).
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
As much as my politic provokes me to do otherwise, my morals can't.
I hope Junior recovers and gets help for whatever his problem is. Be it emotional or addictive, 47 is still very young.
Our hopes and prayers are with Junior and his family for a quick and uneventful recovery.

I agree that if he is unable to perform his duties as a public servant, he should be replaced. However, it should be noted that this is not typical for the Congressman---in his first thirteen years in office, he only missed two votes, so this is probably indicative of something serious.
@ Sandy-1964865,
We don't all get paid vacations at mental health spas; hell my insurance doesn't even cover rehab. This is just another do nothing congressman that is enjoying his full pay and benefits.
Sandy-1964865
You are right, and that starts with being honest as to why you are seeking help. If a person covers up the real reasons, they themselves are doing that very thing. As to what he is in for, nobody but his family and Doctors know.
@ Iowa-748402,
Very Depressing, get some help or get a dog!
Now there's a surprise (he's in rehab). How many out there would have guessed that???
Wonder if he is going to visit Sheriff Joe (or visa-versa)while in Az.??
Or maybe not.
The fact that he is in AZ pretty well indicates that he is in rehab of some type. After all, that is one thing that AZ is well known for, a plethora of rehab facilities. I think it has something to do with the nearly perpetual sunny weather. Warm sunshine is much better for someone's mood and mental health than being in a rainy or cold environment. It will eventually come out, so he needs to come clean about why he is really in inpatient treatment in AZ. Trying to lie about it or mislead people about the real reason will only come back to bite him. It is far better to get out in front of the issue and admit the real reason than to have it dug up by some reporter who then publicly calls you out on your misdirection and lies. In any case, I would imagine that his political career just took a major turn south. Unless the people in his district are complete idiots there is no way he is going to get reelected under these circumstances, particularly since he just disappeared without a word for several weeks before finally admitting that he was in an inpatient treatment facility. It is pretty obvious that he is not fit to continue representing the people of his district. I also think that the government needs to take action to recover the paychecks he has been collecting during his absence. The FMLA provides for up to 12 weeks leave to seek medical treatment, but that leave is supposed to be unpaid. He should not be allowed to simply disappear without a word to anyone and continue to collect his paycheck. No other government employee in this country would be able to do this and Jackson should be no exception. I also would not be surprised if this is part of a strategy to build a diminished capacity defense for the criminal charges he is likely going to be facing related to trying to pressure Blago and bribe him to give Jackson the Senate seat that Obama vacated.
lukewarm
Really?? So I guess Republican Gov. Mark Sanford told his wife, friends, and staff that he was going to be gone for a few days hiking the Appalachian trails and disappeard for a few weeks when not even his own Wife knew where he was, all the time he was on sabbatical in Argentina with his mistress, that doesn't count.
Regardless of whether you like the man or his politics, there is no reason for anyone to make comments about his father, or mental illness or calling a treatment center for mental health an "asylum".
I don't give a damn if he's Republican or Democrat.
If he's got these kinds of mental/addiction issues he shouldn't be holding high office, period. Standards people, for Christ's sake.
I wonder if any of the RWNJs on here can name one thing that Jackson has done as a congressman. They are all attacking him, criticizing the people who elected him, convicting him of corruption. Why? Because he's a democrat. Because he's from Illinois. Because his father is Jesse Jackson. Can you say hipocrisy, boys and girls?
News flash: Just because he's being called before the House Ethics Committee doesn't mean he's guilty of anything. The republicans in the House right now are the most partisan bunch of miscreants in over a hundred years. They saw a chance to tar him with the Blogyovich brush and they took it.
Mood Disorder...with Jesse Jackson as his father, not a big surprise!
Ryan - WI
Ya, it's called BREAKING THE LAW!! Serious enough?..... Get Obama and these Illinois sleezes OUT of office!
FRANKLY TRUE ----- You say you decry hypocrisy in your comment # 1.22 and then you have the audacity to tell us that you don't know where Jessie Jackson Jr. stands politically and expect us to believe this nonsense. You know precisely where he stands politically. You're worse than a hypocrite , your a hypocrite preaching to us about the evils of hypocrisy.
I am a proud Democrat. The man can't do his job and hasn't been doing his job for awhile. He should promptly resign or be dismissed so another capable person can do the important work of the American people.
Those of you happily slinging mud at him because he carries a D beside his title are fools. How many of your own have committed much more serious offenses, promised to resign and later refused to do so? No need to mention names. You and I both know them well.
The elected officials of the Republican party certainly holds no edge on morality despite their preposterous claims of the moral majority and family values. One would think that their bold claims of virtuosity would hold them to higher standards. Unlike the Democrats, your fallen angels are met with silence or unrelenting defense of indefensible actions within your party.
Do you think the Democrats would ever allow John Edwards to run again as one of their Presidential candidates? How do you explain Newt Gingrich?
Mood Disorder and Alcoholism?.
Believe that when he tried to buy Obama's Senate Seat in Illinois and did not get it, he was so humiliated by public opinion, that Jackson tried to end his life. Maybe there were threats to his life.
Why else would he take the summer off, and most likely resign? Speculation.
Truth?
I couldn't agree more with post 1.24 by John from Marshall. Absolutely there should be mandatory drug and alcohol screens for all members of the House and the Senate. In a random pool to submit to testing just like many American employees across the nation. If our leadership is high on drugs or drunk on the job they need to be fired!!! Hell, look how much of a big deal is made of professional athletes and steroids yet nothing about the elected officials running this country!!! This should be made a BIG DEAL, A HUGE BIG DEAL!!!!!! Any elected official missing this many votes should be forced into complete public transparency about what the issue is and what they are doing about it. If this man is playing the mental health issue card to attempt to get out of potential criminal charges or being forced out of office etc.. then he needs to be investigate and face the consequences of his actions. There are millions of Americans out there with so much more on their plates to deal with and with far worse mental health stressors that I have NO sympathy for this wealthy, entitled son of Jesse Jackson. Maybe Sr. should have been around to teach Jr. some morals and ethics. OOPS, maybe that's the problem, he watched pops way too closely and followed some questionable beahvior too far?!?!?!?!?!
Lukewarm: It is SO APPARENT that Feisty F-face is a D-Rat PLANT! It's impossible to get in @ #1 so much in an ttempt to control direction of comments.
RE: Junior, the Entitled one...perfect case of the apple not falling far from the tree.
"Being treated for exhaustion" is ALWAYS code for rehab. Why are all these Hollywood types and politicians so exhausted? Imagine what REAL life would do to the poor little fragile things... :)
Although I lean democratic and especially now because there is a major cancer in the Republican party, I agree that he should be ousted if found to have done wrong doing. I say that we the people start to carve out all the cancer in both parties asap and have term limits on how many years a person can serve in congress. This unlimited term limit in congress is ruining our nation by keeping out fresh, up to date people and keeps us stuck in an ideological stone age ( especially with the GOP) as well as fosters corruption. This is the biggest issue on why we are racing to the bottom on every issue and falling behind the rest of the world on everything. Time for the people to unite and clean HOUSES. I wont say all congress people have that corruption "CANCER" but we pretty much know who the bad apples are and must face realities and oust them when we have the chance..yeah, even the many republicans if we want to even begin to get control over our country again and restore some HONOR to our country.
I have a drinking problem. The problem is that I didn't drink last night.
So many of the catty posters here are really cold hearted and uneducatated !
Let's just say I know a lot about clinical depression, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's not just a matter of "moodiness" or a little sadness. .... It is like being in a "Dark Pit of Pain" from which a person suffering from it thinks there is no escape, ever. It is a very serious medical condition ....
Please Folks, no matter what side of the poltical fence you're on .... a little compassion here ? ......
lukewarm:
Feisty is Ed Schultz of the 'Ed Show'. His comments always come first.
Commonsense101
Did you give that same speak to your fellow democrats in defense of Rush? You probably were the first to post! Dont be a hypocrite!
As Fedup has already stated, everyone showing support for this guy needs to immediately do the same for Rush. If not, you will have exposed yourselves for being partisan hacks.
Wow, what a surprise. Imagine that. The fruit does NOT fall far from the tree.
Illinois voters can really pick them can't they?
After finding Jr. in a crack house screaming "MAKE THE RICH PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE" obviously needing the money for more crack, he was quietly lead off to a treatment program ...........
Clearly, Jesse Jackson Jr is being treated for more than a mood disorder. The secrecy around his illness speaks volumes to that . Sure, he has a righ to privacy, but as a public figure and elected official, less so. He should set the record straight.
Junior's parents have done a good job in raising a successful son. He has been a congressman for 17 years and graduated form the University of Illinois School of Law. He is articulate and dynamic.
I suspect that Junior is also very ambitious. He may be frustrated with his attempts to rise in the ranks and his recent investigations have exacerbated that frustration. I am not giving him an excuse, but simply recognizing that those in the public eye, particularly those with famous parents.
Unfortunately, this has all the markings of being worse than it is being reported. But, Junior has done nothing to deserve some of the criticism that is being heaped on him here. If he is guilty of something let him be investigated like anyone else. So far, he has not been charged or convicted of anything.
all speculation at this point. however, i wouldn't rule out brain damage from his years of playing football. we are seeing very srange manifestations of long-term effects of repeat concussions in the game.
Of course he's clinically depressed. His father is Jesse Jackson.
If Jackson was a Republican all liberals and the mainstream media would be screaming for his resignation. But when a political waste of space is a Democrat no need for concern. There is just no standard low enough for the Democratic Party to get rid of anyone, since political power trumps any standard all the time. Let us not forget that Jackson is just another first class politician from the great State of Illinois.
there is the old saying ''you get what you pay for''.
no truer words were ever spoken with regards to chicago, and in deed all of illinois, politics!
----------------------
reviewing his cv, not sure what he or the voters thought made him qualified for dog catcher, let along a congressman!! as far as 'senator' goes, that would truly be a real reach!!!
In my company if you don't come to work and you don't call out we consider you to be NO CALL NO SHOW and you are fired for Job abandonment. Having a friend call in with an excuse doesn't work either. Why do the government and "WE THE PEOPLE" tolerate this kind of behavior. Also in my company Theft is a fireable offense!!! Are we paying him and providing health insurance coverage during the time he has vanished??
al. as a public, elected figure he can expect no privacy as far as his job performance/health concerns are concerned.
whatever happened to straight forward honesty, ''i am a sex addict, drunk, drug addict,..........whatever. why not just come clean, for once?
being human, if you are old enough to do it, you are certainly old enough to own up to it.
take your lumps, accordingly. and move on. but what is with all of this duplicity, secrecy about everything? if you did something be adult and say so and own up to it.
if you really screwed up-----ask for forgiveness. it is good for the soul, to do exactly that. hiding only makes it worse and/or more difficult to move on.
if you are as sick as your secrets, he needs to be in the icu!
Spider: Re: Rush and Jackson. Anybody with the failings as large as these two ought to shut up and sit down out of sight. Doesn't mean they are not still children of God. But we don't need Rush's thinking as he is brain damaged from his personal activities, and we don't need an alcoholic Jackson proposing and voting on laws in Congress that would govern the rest of us. They just need to to shut up and go away - seek help.
hubbydoll166,
Just because you're not happy with the republicans, leaning democratic, as you put it, isn't your only choice. There are more than 2 parties. Thought you should know.
A Congressman who hasn't been to work for a month and that is a bad thing? Sounds like a bonus for taxpayers. Let him take all the time he needs to get healthy.
confussed after trying some of the meds ptsd i can tell you the dog is a much better choice
No one reported on a GOP MO senator when he was drunk thru most of his Senate career, even appearing on national TV after drinking a few, so don't get so high and mighty.
deflect much Zannie? The story is about Jesse Jackson Jr. FOCUS!
FedupwithFed, there is no defense of Rush. I've never been the first to post. I speak my mind regardless of consequences unlike a hypocrite. Are you free to tell me what you've been drinking or smoking? I do partake occasionally, but always appreciate a heads up on what to avoid.
Poor Jesse Jackson Jr. I knew he had a mental disorder like his libtard dad.
Thank you for saying all that needs to be said... about yourself.
good night...mary beth...
if i did`nt show up to my job with out telling my boss, i`d be justly fired. this guy can do it and people are deffending him? you have to be s***ing me! the only reason he has`nt been tossed out is becouse every one knows his pappy will play the race card. the NAACP will back them too. please MARY BETH, point your finger at yourself and say thanks- you probly helped vote people in office like him- and im black by the way!!
Jake no you are of the negroid race. That is about all you seem to have in common with Blacks or African Americans.
Self loathing is what you are really all about.
And I am white, even I know the difference
Frankly True, So because Jake knows Jesse is a screw up, and he is not, he is self loathing.
REALLY ?
Something tells me "big Jim" ain't really so big south of the border...
Big Jim...might have it right! Bottom line; "Looks like the apple fell close to tree".
To the guy at the top of the page, of course the media will cover it. It's a scandal. The media loves a scandal and I'm afraid the bias you claim doesn't exist. Media is selling product and scandals sell. Democrats have more than their share, as do Republicans. I'm basically a Democrat; the story should be covered and, based on what I know, he should resign.
As for Big Jim (I'll bet you're not that big) using the term "libtard", first of all I'm somewhat liberal and fairly intelligent. People come in much more complex packages than a single label can describe, at least the ones I like do, and I would never use an insulting phrase like that to describe anyone who is simply on the right side of the centerpoint of the political spectrum. I try to be more specific when I call someone a name, which I typically avoid. However, anyone using the term libtard qualifies, in my mind for a specific name, and it's not a politically based ones. A$$****es come in all political persuasions and your use of the term qualifies you as one.
Jim..your state has more corrupted politicians in it than all other states combined..remember? everything's bigger in texas? Corruption included. Liberals can face the fact and actually throw out the corrupted politicians..can you say the same being a trained GOP monkey boy?
Really..this chit is freaking shocking..who would realize this..a freaking black congressman (doing drugs)?
For white people its call rehab!!!
Not sure when they started calling it a treatment center.
Ever see that movie..Silent of the Black Sheeps?
I have a suspicion he started leaning right and they had to re-educate him.
His mind was chaulked full of demons.
Good one John! I laughed hard on that one.
He probably drinks because he knows that his father is a big fraud.
Really bright comments guys. Woodshed, what an insightful, intelligent comment. That's sarcasm. Ask a friend what it means. And, as a recovering alcoholic who had a great father, RIP, it's also just hilarious.
Funny, how many of "us"can just take time off work for a few months WITH PAY, so you can re-hab in the Arizona desert, covering up your trip, hiding from the very people you are supposed to represent???
Someone mentioned Gov. Sanford from SC missing, yeah 4 days, not months, and we didn't foot his travel expenses like we are doing for Jesse Jr. Same with Limbaugh, who I despise, but he is a private citizen, using his own money for rehab, not the "taxpayers" dime. Hypocrites.
Oh, yeah, rehab and mental health treatment is just one big vacation. Try it sometime. It would no doubt do you some good. Unfortunately, you are far too ignorant and unaware to even realize you are disturbed.
He's suffering from acute oppression.
"mood disorder" is that what their calling alcoholism these days?
"Mood disorder" - he wasn't in the mood to work.
John, that would be re-edgumucate...
re-edgumucate would suggest he was edgumucated to begin with.
LOL
He probably developed problems from all the years he's been trying to understand what his dad is actually saying thru the mumbling.
If the man was always trying to keep you down you'd be depressed too. LOL
So then would you agree that all those who are claiming PTSD are frauds? anyone in rehab is "faking it"?
No, he started to understand what Jesse Sr. was saying and realized at that point that he needed help.
Let he without sin cast the first stone...........however that being said......You know if the shoe was on the other foot of a Republican all the Washerwoman Schultz BS and the other Libtard race baiters would be all over this demanding resignations etc etc.....
Gotta luv a double standard in the Libtard gubbermint utopia........
Has anyone noticed that Wasserman has a big ass and she never allows full body pics to be taken or shown?
She follows in the long line of tradition of BO's 'women'. His mom was somewhat wide, his wife (that manly figured doll) has a very wide beam, his picks for the Supreme Court, Kagen and Sotomayor have large cabooses, and that pant suit woman who 'stood by her man ''when he was standing with Monica also has a wide beam.
A psychiatrist could likely tell us many things of interest about the ‘boy wonder’ now occupying our Oval Office that would make us blush and angry at the same time ??
She also has the Bonny Fwank lisp to go with the ass . What a (?woman?) As for the Jackson family, their problems stems from over-indulging in race baiting.
A psychiatrist could easily come up with a diagnosis for you, Josh Brogan. Untreated mental illness seems to be rampant within the conservative ranks, particularly that of the severe personality disorder category. The difference between Jesse, Jr. and the conservatives. He had the insight to realize how sick he was and sought treatment. The conservatives are so low in intelligence, insight, and self awareness that they spend their entire lives under the unfluence of their disorder.
Don't sound as if his wife was too happy with the statement she gave. Hmmmmm mood disorders, I am wonder how far his mood went out of whack?
@Josh Brogan --- That's pure BS! Wasserman Shcultz's big azz is not being intentionally hidden by her or media. Compared to her face it may be a positive asset.
Josh, thanks. You have the funniest post of the week.
I can't stop laughing.
And here I thought that the cameramen had decided that they couldn't get it all into one shot.
Get well soon.
Yes please do just that. The prison doctors are not as competent as a 'specialist' in a rehab facility.
The problem did not start with this man; however, if you get a job just about anywhere (except in congress) you have to pass a drug test. Lord knows, we wouldn't want a WalMart clerk on pot ringing us up or stocking shelves.... and yet everyday there are ELECTED OFFICIALS drinking and doing drugs even when they are AT WORK! EVERY elected person should have to BE SCREENED for drugs and alcohol BEFORE every session, plus they should have to SHOW UP for work just like the rest of us! Too many take time off for this and that, when they have MORE vacation time than the average worker. Too many of these elected officials are acting like the 1%, than they are the 99% who they are supposed to represent!
If he was using alcohol, he would have passed a drug test...at Walmart or anywhere else.
And there is no urine or blood test to detect clinical depression.
Mood..what kind?
The kind that doesn't involve women, alcohol and drugs.
Is this the same one that Tigger was at?
The kind of mood brought on by withdrawals and dismal tremors. This story is a joke! Quit trying to hide the fact that the man has a history of abuses and issues. He is in what white, asian, mexican, and canadian people in the media call rehab. Since he is black and Jesse Jackson's son, it is a mood clinic. If he is having mood problems, couldn't a therapist just handle this so he could continue his work which he is getting paid HEAVILY for! I'm sure glad Congress gets a good health plan so that our tax money can pay for him being an addict and a boozer! Grow up Jesse J it's time to realize your father has been feeding off the race card for too long and the up coming generation could really care less (in majority) about the color of their fellow man's skin!
If the man is a true alcoholic, he needs treatment due to illness. But, DO NOT hide behind the "mood disorder" BS diagnosis!!!!!
And you have determined that diagnosis to be BS using what information and criteria?
And you have determined that diagnosis to be BS using what information and criteria?
His condition will persist until there is a breakthrough treatment based on his receiving full amnesty for any pursuit by him of Obama's senate seat and his own show on MSNBC.
exactly!!!!
You mean we have a depressed drunk in the House?
That will go nicely with tax cheats, wife cheaters, extortionists, rapists........
Well, you get the picture don't you?
The article states that everything came upon him "lie an avalanche." Yeah. Like one that he himself built. There is something called accountability and responsibility. He might consider facing this like a man : take responsibility, fess up and accept the punishment. That would help his mental state and that of the tax payers.
wow. I didn't think they allowed black people in arizona
@surely-u-must-b-jesting
I'm guessing if they can allow a racist fool like you on here, then he's more then welcomed in Arizona. Maybe you should seek treatment for your problem too. I'm certain there's a pill or enema of some kind for you. ijs
@surely what next will you type? You are a racist fool grow up.
the mexicans ran most of us out! but theres still a few. ha!ha!ha!
Are you kidding me, I'm from Arizona, and with the sunshine here we're all cooked black after awhile.
Oh man, please don't tell that to Anthony, Keith, Robert, Charles,Weldon, Lawrance, Roy, Boonie, Richard, John, James, Brian, William, Aaron, or their respective families. You do sound like my sisters grandson, who was maybe nine when they came here to visit. Some idiot had told this poor little kid 'they'll shoot you'. That was back in the mid nineties, and all I could do was laugh. He'd come from L.A., just imagine that.
What ? My neighbor is black. My golfing buddy is black. My physical trainer is black. My Doctors; PA is black. the teller at a bank I use is black and the car wash supervisor is black.
I am not sure but I think one of the Pharmacists at CVS is black and one of my former associates (retired but still living in Arizona) is black.
Now how the hell do I break the news to them that they are not ALLOWED in Arizona?
You must be joking right ? Or maybe you are a joke yourself. And by the way, I am so white I make clean bleached white sheets look dingy.
STFU douche.

The apple didn't fall far from the tree.
doesn't sound so scandalous... I'm sure you're white as the driven snow...
WHITER !
Transparent!!!
This story is too funny.
Just another Marion Berry, I bet.
-John Boehner: Alcoholic. Regularly speaks on the House floor while intoxicated.
- Rush Limbaugh: repeatedly treated at an in-patient facility for addiction to hardcore narcotics.
- George W. Bush: freely admits to being an alcoholic
- Dick Cheney: 3 arrests for drunk driving
- Glenn Beck: recovering alcoholic and crystal meth addict.
Oh yeah? What about the killer Kennedy? I know he's pushing up daisies now but what affiliation was he? And what about that old fart from New York...I forgot what that criminals name is. Their ALL crooks, no matter what party. If their not when they get in, they surely are when they leave.
Frankly True
You know that if anyone had the time you apparently have on your hands that a Democrat, Liberal, Independent, whatever party you want could be matched up on the same things. It isn't a GOP specific problem son.
As for your comment, if I were John Boehner and I read your description of me...you would be sued for Slander just for starters. You better be able to PROVE he regularly speaks on the House floor while intoxicated. That is one heck of an accusation...regularly?
A person cannot be sued for Slander or Libel for repeating documented fact...so I would pay better attention to what you post. And that is 'Frankly True' my friend! :)
Seriously Frankly?? You really want to go there??? Every Kennedy......alchoholics, rapist, or murderer. Clinton....pothead, liar (remember Monica?). Barney Frank...male prostitution ring. Obama...coke, weed...can't tell much more because his records are all sealed. It's everywhere bud, don't be a dumbass!
Points that is my point exatly, my post was a response to Lukewarm, Spider, Iowa and several others who blasted this as something "Liberals" or Democrats do.
Substance Abuse knows no political party, it is an epidemic in our country it attacks Conservatives, Moderates and Liberals. The first two Rep Presidents were well known for one having mental issues and the second for being a major drunk. I being from th South think they should have been thrown out of office for their illegal Civil War! (Forget Hell!)
And Truth Barney Frank never ran a male prostitution ring, never knew of one being run and actually there never was one run from his apartment as numerous investigations showed. Steve Gobie admitted he made it up, though his story still changes when he gets any air time, he said he got the idea when watching the Mayflower Madame. Hard to run a 'prostitution Ring" out of an apartment and leave no phone records at all. And Cell Phones were in their infancy then, he did not have one. Please seek out that truth and read the House Ethics Committee report. All Frank was found to have done was fix some parking tickets for him,and you could even say he had that right as Gobie was running errands for him...and that is what he was reprimanded for. Frank used bad judgement in trying to help Steve Gobie...While I am not comparing Frank toJesus...Remember Jesus did the same thing...helped Mary Magdaline get out of "the life'
Stop watching Right Wing talking heads and do some research...
finally! a post with some substance
Well said, Frankly True...but do you seriously think the uneducated, opinionated, bigots would actually let fact get in the way of them making a judgement?
Bullies don't consider truth or fact. They do what they do because they have self esteem issues and no self worth and must denigrate others to feel that they have a rightful place in this world. We would all be much better off if they would get treatment themselves.
politics
poly=many
tic(k)s =blood sucking parasites
Did Junior have a bitch set him up too?
A bitch set him up too?
Funny.
Frankly True,
You forgot about the late Ted Kennedy.
DUH! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?
So, you have evidence that Jesse, Sr. suffers from a mood disorder or a disorder involving alcohol?
He needs to step down and let someone do the job he can't - America needs leaders not "mood disorders".
That is the best answer on here. You better watch out, they will start calling you racist.
No, we'll stick with stupid for now.
@ Appraiser-511-603 YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!!!!!!
The two aren't mutually exclusive, you know. Depression (if that's what they mean by the vague term "mood disorder") is treatable.
"Mood disorder" is the category referring to a specific type of disorder. The various forms of depressive illness fit into the broader category of "mood disorder".
If he were a white Republican, he would be torn apart. He is just another hypocritical DemocRAT
Don't anyone get too judgmental. This seems to happen on both sides of the aisle. I don't know what he's being treated for, so I'll withhold judgment. I will say that many people with psychiatric issues tend to self-medicate with alcohol.
He actually is in the hospital. They are attempting to get his head out of his ass even tho the procedure did not work with his daddy.
And it seems as though you're blowing smoke out of yours so whats the difference? Idiot.
These facilities they go to are like being on vacation. Spa, tennis courts, golfing. He's on vacation on us tax payers dime. If he resigned....he couldn't be there.
Blazin Fool
Appropriate name
People with substance problems who choose to go into treatment are not there for a vacation. They are tying to clean up and get healthy. Exercise is a part of that. And you have no idea what facility he is in and what amenities it has. And even if he resigned he would still have his insurance through Cobra for a long period of time.
Hey, one of the best in the country is here, 40k a month!!
Isn't this just A-1 typical. Why haven't we been hearing from his father the clown or the racist moron sharpton on how Jr's problems are due to white people. What a total discrass to an elected office. Step down you POS and let someone responsible take over, regardless if it is a democrat or a Republican, preferably a Republican. Just think if he was a white person and that of a Republican as well. Every hipicrit democrate in office would be demanding he resign. Well how about it Nancy, call for his resignation and while your at it, submit yours based on two factors; your incompitant and butt ugly.
@Lizardtail
OOPS....looks like somebody missed one to many days out of school(hooking no less). Judging from your grammar and spelling you really don't have room to talk about anyone. So for future reference the words are (disgrace, hypocrite, democrat, and last but not least incompetent) . An truth be told incompetent is obviously what you are I'm thinking your spelling or lack there of gave that away. And my guess is if you can't spell it, you certainly can't know it's definition. When in doubt use spell check and most of all proof read before you hit "enter". ijs So you see while you were trying to make a funny, you were actually the butt of your own joke.
ha!ha! that's awesome, i feel the same way- even though my spelling needs work too.
So manns1963, WTF is your point. You are so intelectually superior you just degrade and insult people of differing opinion? You're probably some white appologist sitting in your mom's basement on your computer feeling all safe and secure from the real world. Well, guess what, the world is about to come apart at the seams and your beloved liberal politicians are engineering it. But don't worry, when the media induced race war starts you can run around saying you love black people and the likes of Jackson and the Black Panthers will say, "that's ok whitey, we love you too".....RIGHT!!!
If he were a Republican, he would be Palin-ed to death
And yes...Nancy is butt ugly
The spell checker is robust, no excuse not to use it.
Lizard you are bitching because Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are not 'playing the race card"
So you are mad they are not doing that
And you would be mad if they did.
Hmm...seems you are just mad
Hey Mann- You win the spelling bee! You want a cookie?
What a shame that there is no treatment for bigotry, racism, or mental retardation. You could use it in all three areas.
@DOCJT --- Are you an expert on mental retardation, or does it just run in your family?
And to think I'm majoring in Political Science. Get a heart, some of you. This is just too much. A man is sick and hospitalized and all you fools can think of is hate for him? What's wrong with the world? He has not been convicted of a crime, yet you want to treat a sick man this way. Who are you crazy people? What hole did you crawl out of? Where's your compassion? Get Well Soon, Jesse, Jr!!!
This poor sick man wants Obama to rule the country by executive order and completely ignore Congress. Hope he stays sick for a long time.
Get my drift?
Yep, NC vet. I am an expert on the topic. How's the treatment for that TBI of yours going at the VA?
Mark drift on this ,your pal Bush used it well over 10 times !!
W e got to many in office now with mood orders that need to go from top down.
Libturdism is a mental disorder!
No, it is a deliberate behavior.
Liberal is a conscious and educated choice...unlike the condition of conservativism which is decidedly pathological and positively correlated with lower intelligence.
His mood disorder?? Is that sotch or vodka?? He clearly tried to play the extortion game with Gov. Blanco and now takes a page from his sleezeball father to not take responsibility for his actions. This is no example for the uner privilege of Chicago stinks of the corruption of first sleezeball Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters. I'm stunned we haven't heard its racism yet. Give his lowlife father a day and that will be the campaign.
Just another lazy government hack sucking taxpayer resources. Not to mention being elected solely on the basis of who his father is and the color of his skin.
Now who is playing the race card?
Isn't it amusing, Frankly True, how it's always the white guy that is so focused on bringing the race card into any discussion? Fear makes people behave in strange ways.
Or just laying out the truth card??? More likely than the race card!!!!!
And what "truth card" would that be? Truth is not something that would appear to be a big concern for you.
He's then mentally ill and should be removed from office immediately!
Did you loose your job as a result of your mental illness? Subsisting on SSDI, are you, delusional one?
@DOCJT --- You seem to be learning a lot from your shrink. Keep up the good work. Hopefully he'll have you knitting pot holders at a sheltered workshop next week. You'll enjoy contributing to society in a positive manner.
Why? I have a recurring mental illness and can still do my job (which, for the record, doesn't involve special workshops).
See what happens when you skip your meds, NCVet? Now get back in line and take your meds like a good boy.
newgeneration, of course you can. Sheltered workshops just happen to be the only employment NCVet is capable of maintaining, so he makes reference to them.
what is the mystery...he completely destroyed any hops of a higher offices when he implicated himself with Blago to buy a Senate seat. Of course he is depressed and drinking.
Politics aside.
If this shines a Spot Light on the shortage of Mental Health Doctors, Hospitals and Trained Professionals, than it's a step in the right direction.
As a Society we refuse to see just how large a problem Mental Health Issues are in comparison to Physical Illnesses.
We don't hesitate to Treat the obese, chronic alcoholics and Drug Addicts, with ALL the Standard Physical Practices. Money be Damned.
The second we need to Treat them as having a Mental Illness, we pull the rug out from underneath them.
Even 12 step programs concede that the Illness has some times to be treated Medically not just practicing the Program.
While I don't agree with this Congressmans Politics, I sincerely wish him a Full Recovery.
Who knows maybe he'll be the one to Pull back the Curtain on the Mental Health services or rather the lack of them.
I wonder what apple tree did the bush twins fall from, i guess Bush was an alcoholic.
Do you have anything to say about the topic at hand?
Blaming Bush ought to cure him right away. Imao
Really Kathy, that is the best you could come up with? You don't have to guess anything Bush is a recovering alcoholic so what is your cause of your stupidity?
Silly woman, typical Dem, blame bush, Oh! sorry thats what your leader does
So when a democrat liberal can't handle the truth, just pick on the Bush family. How pathetically laughable (but not unsurprising from the modern liberal regressive left).
who cares about the Bush people- what do they have to do with this? so, let me get this right: you want to blame the Bush twins for this? WOW!!!! another GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's interesting that Jesse Jr is getting a pass from his own party - even though he's not able to do his job. Yet many of them jumped in on calling for Rep Weiner to resign because of a simple photo he posted. Even as a Republican I didn't care what he'd done. His constituents voted him in and it was really up to them to decide if he was still qualified to represent him. But when a Rep is gone for a month they should resign. And I'm sure Jesse Jr and all of his staff knew that his treatment was going to be for longer than a month when he entered treatment.
He is not getting a pass....Didn't you read the article?
Posting an innappropriate photo and being diagnosed with a serious mental disorder are two very different situations and cannot be compared. Had you received the help you need for your own distorted cognitions, you would realize that.
Well, I would rather have the pol with the "inappropriate pic" sitting in office than the one who is so unstable that he's missed 80 votes already!!!!!
Doc,
I wonder if you walk through life ending every conversation you have with people with an insult. Your points are valid but why the attacks?
We wish him continued recovery for his "mood" problems. ........lol
Well of course you would, skrewed. No matter that those who post innappropriate pics in public are demonstrating the fact that they have their own set of symptoms to be diagnosed.
Bob, it doesn't work when one attempts an intelligent discourse with a bunch of uneducated, racist, bigots. You have to use the only language they know to make the point. They are engaging in insults, so they are addressed with same.
