I want to just point out that one fact that has been omitted from this story lately is that the guns were fitted with tracking devices but used inefficient battery technology and were lost due to the batteries juice running out before they finish tracking them. I have a retired, naval officer friend in Honolulu that says that Hawaiians are tired of dealing with "Birthers" in the mainland coming down to Hawaii, trying so hard to prove their conspiracy theories that the President was not born in the U.S. He said a few of these Hawaiians recall growing up with Obama, and they were on the same high school basketball team as he was.

Needles to say, it's correctly assumed that political extremists -- for lack of evidence and full of fears -- will often create and maintain unprovable theories of conspiracies. For some people, it's the only escape from reality when Dumbya Bush and the GOP are in charge for 8 years -- and once you get hooked, it's tough to kick!

There is video out there as early as 2009 with Homeland security talking about such a program but not using a particular name for it. But all the key words are used such as running guns, etc. So at that time, they were indicating to the media a big war was on to stop the sale of guns into Mexico. The president is on record indicating to the Mexican media he did not know of any such program and was only learning about it from the media. So never did the president mention knowing about any such program. So he never used any of the key words Holder and Janet used.

That is why Issa is saying he doesn't believe the WH is covering up anything. However, to this day NOBODY seems to know who would approve such a plan and why isn't anybody now being held accountable. Holder denied for a long time he knew anything about F&F and eventually changed his tune.

Issa has been told by Holder that much of the information he wants to see would be embarrassing to the Attorney General because they spoke between themselves about how to deal with F&F. So they don't want to release any documents that would be embarrassing and that is exactly why the democrats call this a witch hunt.

If the shoes were on the other party, the dems and the media would want to get to the bottom of this screw-up.

There is no way in the world that such a huge program with so much riding on it would have been approved by some low level person as Holder is suggesting. NO way. So Holder asked Obama to cover him on this matter and use his executive privilege even though supposedly the president according to Holder never had any meetings on this issue. The president can't evoke executive order unless he was part of the discussion and there was a national security issue or that material was so sensitive. The latter is not possible since the president was never involved.

Stop being partisan. Just ask the Justice depart to get to the bottom of it, stop telling lies, etc. Maybe the question should be whether Holder SHOULD have known about F&F?

Armitage admits leaking Plame's identity

Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage acknowledged Thursday that he was the source who first revealed the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame to syndicated columnist Robert Novak back in 2003, touching off a federal investigation.

Armitage told the CBS Evening News that he did so inadvertently.

"I feel terrible," Armitage said. "Every day, I think, I let down the president. I let down the secretary of state. I let down my department, my family, and I also let down Mr. and Mrs. Wilson."

In a column published on July 14, 2003, Novak, citing two senior administration officials, noted that Plame was a CIA operative. The column was primarily about Plame's husband, Joe Wilson, a former career diplomat and critic of the intelligence underlying the invasion of Iraq.

Novak has never revealed the original source of the information about Plame. However, he has confirmed that President Bush's chief political strategist, Karl Rove, confirmed the information and was the second source cited in the column.

Novak has said he would not reveal the identity of the original source unless the source came forward. However, he said Fitzgerald learned who the source was independently.

Last month, sources told CNN that Armitage had revealed Plame's role at the CIA in a casual conversation with Novak.

Armitage was not indicted by the federal grand jury that investigated the disclosure of Plame's name to Novak and other journalists. He told CBS that the special counsel investigating the leak, Patrick Fitzgerald, "asked me not to discuss this, and I honored his request."

After Novak's column ran, Wilson accused Bush administration officials of leaking his wife's name in retaliation for his criticisms about intelligence used to buttress the case for invading Iraq.

Because deliberately revealing the identity of a CIA operative can be a crime, Fitzgerald, the U.S. attorney in Chicago, was appointed in September 2003 as a special counsel to investigate whether any laws were broken.

While no one has been indicted for actually leaking Plame's identity, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, has been charged with perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to investigators for allegedly giving false information about his discussions with journalists about Plame.

Libby has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty.

Armitage, 65, was No. 2 at the State Department under former Secretary of State Colin Powell from 2001 to 2005. He left his post after Powell resigned at the beginning of Bush's second term.

This investigation has been going on for 18 months. If the DOJ had been forthcoming with the requested information it would have been over a long time ago. Why not actually read the bills ~ there is not a "clean" jobs bill among them. All are mere vehicles to advance a conservative agenda very neatly cloaked within the provisions of those bills. A clean jobs bill from the House would most likely be filibustered by Senate Republicans. If Democrats are for it, Republicans will vote against their own legislative proposals out of spite. These House bills were sent with their not-so-well hidden agendas for the very reason you state ~ to score political points for few if any will actually read the bills but might believe the garbage being shoveled by conservatives.

Most of the money would come right back to the government in taxes these $50,000 a year people would pay in Fed, State, sales, property, and so taxes. You got it wrong. Recent experience shows the Dems have put more than enough money to solve the problem into Solendra, shovel ready, green jobs which call for $4 million to create each job. That spells a lot of greasing of the palms of those on the take and connected to the current administration. Something happened to all that money and it was under Dem control and administration. It may be a flaw to re-distribute free money as it would encourage more to quit and be paid off.
