Obama says he will fight for immigration reform

President Obama speaks to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials in Orlando, Fla., on Friday.

Appealing to Hispanic voters, President Barack Obama on Friday defended his decision to lift the threat of deportation for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, saying it gave them an overdue "sense of hope." He challenged Republicans in Congress to join him finally on a big, broad fix of the U.S. immigration laws.

Obama tailored his re-election message of economic fairness and opportunity to his audience of Latino officials, addressing the group one day after Republican rival Mitt Romney did the same. Hispanic voters are a vital constituency in states that could swing the election, from Florida to Nevada to Virginia.

The president said the nation needs ideas and policies that build up the middle class and "our current immigration system doesn't reflect those values." The system punishes immigrants who play by the rules and drives away entrepreneurs who can get an education in America but cannot stay here legally, he said.

Obama spoke to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials near Orlando, his first speech to a Hispanic group since he decreed that many young illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children would be exempted from deportation and granted work permits valid for two years

"It was the right thing to do," Obama declared.

Romney has attacked Obama's new plan to ease deportation rules as little more than a "stopgap measure." The president sought to seize on that criticism from Romney and Republicans in Congress by putting the onus on them.

"For those who are saying Congress should be the one to fix this, absolutely," Obama said. "For those who say we should do this in a bipartisan fashion, absolutely. My door's been open for three-and-a-half years. They know where to find me."

The President just finished making a total fool of Romney without even saying his name. Mr. Obama also managed to put a few nails in the coffin of the Republican Congress.

Republicans out there might want to email their Party and tell them to tell Mitt to just shut up because everytime he opens his mouth more people hate him.

Things are looking very good for the Democrats and for our country, remember the important things get rid of this Congress when you elect Mr. Obama

Funny how Obama was able to ram the stimulus through Congress, ram the healthcare bill through Congress, but has been unable to get Congress to pass immigration reform. Maybe it wasn't a high priority item for Obama, and now it is because he pandering for votes. There is nothing Obama will not do or say to get a vote, and you can head to the bank because this time he means it.

Obama didn't even need any Republicans when he had control of Congress for his first 2 years - so where was the 'promise' that immigration reform would be one of his top priorities? Somehow, he never even got around to offering a plan, and now he cynically puts out a gimmick that will only stand for a few months.

As long as Republicans are making a major issue about Obama invoking executive priviledge concerning Eric Holder and " Fast and Furious"", I think it is once again imperative that Congress re-investigate George W. Bush invoking Presidential executive priviledge and stopping the investigation regarding the suspictious death of soldier Patrick Tillman.

It is obvious that Bush was trying to hide something and that he may have even personally ordered his murder out of jealousy because he was an NFL football star and GW was just a sissified male cheerleader at Yale.

Our President says legal immigration "hurts people" and granting illegal immigration amnesty is the honorable route to go?

This clown should be immediately removed from office...he CLEARLY does not understand the oath of office he took upon becoming President. He's free to manage the government WITHIN the law, not through his own dictatorial subversion of the rule of law to get votes.

In my lifetime, I've never seen a President abuse the powers of his office in such transparent vote-grabbing shenanigans. He's the American Anti-President...a man who thinks he can impose his own moral agenda on us regardless of whether the law allows him to do so our not. He has NO constitutional authority to set immigration policy of any kind...that is exclusively the purview of Congress.

Isn't Obama such a Wonderful Orator?

It's too bad running a country is more than just standing at a Podium giving wonderful speeches. You actually have to spend countless hours sitting around in meeting rooms negotiating with others, trying to find common ground, resolving disputes and making decisions, etc.

Other than blaming everyone else what did Obama say he would actually do?
What steps did he say he would take to get a real Comprehensive immigration reform Passed?
What exactly does he consider a reasonable Comprehensive immigration bill?

The Left is always complaining there are no details coming from Romney. Where's the Demand for Details from Obama?

Like I said Obama is great behind a podium.

"We repeatedly get caught in this conflict between our professed moral principles and the real reasons why we do things-to wit, our self-interest. We are always able to mask those real reasonsin words of beneficent goodness-freedon, justice, and so on."(Rules for Radicals,Saul Alinsky,pg.58)

I have asked several friends who went through the proper channels to become a citizen how they feel about this and only 2 out 9 said they liked obamas proposal. Everbody might as well face the facts obama is one and done the tide is turning and its going to be Mitt Romney whos gonig to clean up this mess that obamas made, but I guarantee he wont spend the next 4 years blaming obama he will be busy turning the economy around.

Americans want illegal immigration...reform not amnesty from where I see it. Reform could have been done with the 2 years of dems control but they just bypassed it...wonder why? In many states illegals are breaking the local governments with 10's of thousands being supported and taxpayers are tired of it. Jobs are lost to them when our unemployment numbers are stupidly high. The illegals have an underground that is almost inpentitrable from which false id.s roll out, they are not about to rush out and throw those away to pay taxes when they don't pay a dime now...local sheriff dept in Ok and Tx are trying to stop these rings but to no avail, they don't trust anyone but other mexicans they know..period.

Nice, that "hope and change" is only for Illegals. Please Mr President, stick that knife deeper in the back of the Americans you could care less about. Especially those who have been unemployed for several years and our like to have the job you are giving away to Illegals.

He needs to go ASAP.

I heard there are as many as 182,000 who may not be eligible to vote in Florida as they maybe Illegals. The State of Florida wants to check this list against a list from Homeland Security to weed out Illegal voters, but the govt. won't give up the list and all the Liberals are saying it is racist. Funny, it clearly says Illegals can't vote, but Liberals have no problem ignoring the law. And have nothing better to defend their belief than faux racism. Much like out President. I have a big problem with a govt. that won't enforce the laws already on the books. That's what's wrong with this story. We need to enforce the laws on the books for Illegals, we don't need new laws or Presidential decrees. We need to stop giving any aid to Illegals, adult or children. No they can't go to school for free, receive welfare and free health care. We need to concentrate on taking care of Americans, not Illegals. The quicker we start doing this, the better. This is one of several steps to make our country stronger.

He's not "screwing every legal in the US".

There are about a million illegal kids who had no real future before the dream act due to THEIR parents actions. Obama is NOT granting citizenship to these kids, but a mere TWO year working visa enabling them to BEGIN the citizenship process LEGALLY from the U.S instead of a foreign country that they are probably not even familiar with. Had this not passed, even if those illegal kids tried to get paperwork they would have had to do so from the country they were born in, which for most would mean a completely foreign world. These kids were already American before the dream act even passed.

Obama is on the ropes with the economy and his team's leadership and messaging is not in sync. However his foreign policy is stellar and the immigration reform policy push along with gay rights advocacy is a good offense. Romney would do well to focus only on the negative Economy with Obama but he needs to become more "likable" and get some solid policy statements. Obama needs to focus on what "could be good" for the country and re-enforce his likeability credentials.

    GB-2940791,

Sure how about the truth that Patrick Tillman ran in front of his own soldiers machineguns suppressive fires, aka friendly fires. The Forensics Teams proved that.

This is exactly why we do not allow US Army Rangers into our Teams until after they have already spent lots of time as part of the US Army Ranger Battalion Support Companies, then if they prove worthy are moved to the Operational Ranger Battalions, after they spend time gaining real Operational Experience, then we ask them to volunteer for the US Army Special Forces "Q" Course, after they spend time with the Special Forces Groups gaining more Operational Experience, then we might ask them to be Assessed to us after they have learned Language(s) and Culture(s) for our Area(s) of Operation(s).

Patrick Tillman was fresh out of US Army Ranger School, and to gain Fame he volunteered for Combat with minimal or no Real World Combat Experience nor Operational Experience. He was lucky he even got a Purple Heart as it is not the norm to give out US Military Awards for doing something like what he did. Sure they covered it up as not to embarrass his family.

YOUR President IS a FOOL ! REPUBLICANS can bring back our country from OBAMA'S LIBERAL AGENDA that hurts SMALL business and MIDDLE class peoples !!!!

Hmmm, so tax cuts for small businesses and middle class people is bad???? Actually, Obama's "liberal agenda" helps small businesses and middle class people. And furthermore, Obama's policies aren't very liberal. The stimulus was centrist due to the fact that it had tax cuts; the healthcare plan was a conservative alternative to Clinton's healthcare plan; and Obama's attempt to get immigration reform was via the Dream Act, which once had Republican sponsors that have since changed flags. And I highly doubt that more tax cuts for the rich, Social Darwinism toward the poor, and letting the banks play their way will help us,

    ROY WILSON-336103

Actually, he did. It used to take only 51 votes to get a bill passed in the Senate; now it takes exactly 60. The Democrats had 55 votes for the Dream Act, something Obama would have signed if it came to his desk. The House passed it; the Senate did, but it was filibustered. Had the bill not been filibustered, Obama could have added partial-immigration reform to his list of accomplishments. Unfortunately, both the media and the GOP ignores that fact...

    J R Browenstein

Our President says legal immigration "hurts people" and granting illegal immigration amnesty is the honorable route to go?

Where the hell did he say this??? I'd like to see some credible proof.

This clown should be immediately removed from office...he CLEARLY does not understand the oath of office he took upon becoming President. He's free to manage the government WITHIN the law, not through his own dictatorial subversion of the rule of law to get votes.

Last time I checked, executive orders are a legal way of getting things done. Had the GOP actually tried to work with the President instead of stopping him and bashing him at every possible turn, he wouldn't have to rely on executive orders. Consider this your thank-you present.

Don't give me this bull@!$%#. Every conservative president (and that could include Bill Clinton) since Reagan has done that; Reagan had the illegal Iran-Contra affair. Bush I tried to balance the budget on spending cuts but finally came to his senses when he realized that tax increases were necessary. Clinton was forced to kowtow to the extremist neocons after the 1996 election, essentially selling himself out to get something done. Bush II tried to emulate Reagan but became a twenty-first century Nixon, creating scandals everywhere. Bush II even broke the damn law and made his fortune in covert corporate actions, even holding a stake in the Enron fiasco. He and his kind ruined this country. But when Obama tries to pick up the damn pieces, you and your right-wing bastards gang up on him, even after he asks for your help. How come you aren't angry about Grover Norquist??? That guy caused our downgrade and has helped spread his no-tax ideology via the bitching cowards over at the Tea Party. You want a moral agenda???? Talk to the Religious Right and the neocons. And btw, Obama's executive order only dealt with the illegals ALREADY in here. Last time I checked, the president has rights to set policy via executive order, but anything major has to go through Congress. This is a temporary measure; not a long-lasting policy.

For you idiots that keep writing that he had 2 years with a Democratic Congress, here is a FACT for your uneducated, racist a$$e$. The DREAM Act was passed by Congress, the Senate had 55 votes out of 100 Senators which in any other mathematical endeavor, would be a MAJORITY. But since now everything needs 60 Votes, Turtle Face McConnell and his GOP Minions Filibustered the Bill and refused to allow Closure and thus a true vote on the Bill that had already passed the Democratic House. So, to my Tea Bagging, Right Wing KKK Friends, if you are going to tell a story, at least be Man or Woman enough to tell the TRUTH about it. Guess you weren't paying attention.

And for those of you complaining that undocumented immigrants are 'taking American jobs', you might consider the reality that most of the unemployed obviously don't want the jobs these workers do. See here for the effects of the new laws in Alabama, Georgia, and Arizona: http://www.npr.org/2011/10/08/141183030/can-the-u-s-economy-really-function-without-undocumented-workers

If President Obama cared about: Immigration, Gays, The Economy... He would have addressed them early in his presidency. The fact he is making gestures towards these groups now is further proof that all he cares about is buying their votes! He is just an extreme narcissist who wants to stay in power

Eddie @1.52: You sir are mentally challenged. If you check the record 5 Democrats voted against the Dream Act. The vote was 55 YEAs (52D, 2R, 1I); 41 NAYs (36R, 5D); and 4 not voting (3R, 1D). Therefore, your fearless non-leader blew his chance by really not rallying his troops. Freshieee - After the "shellacking" of the 2010 midterms obama had to throw the right a bone to support small business just to save face. As for the middle class tax cut, all your god did was extend what bush2 already gave the middle class.

Must make bush2 your hero as well.

For your information, I hated the Bush tax cuts. Had I been President instead of Bush, I would have raised taxes and cut spending, at least after the 2001 recession. I wish Obama would have repealed them, but doing that would ruin the economy. I'll give him a pass for keeping them for the middle class, as much as I hate the fact that we are paying the lowest taxes in decades, but the wealthy ought to see their rates go up. In fact, if Obama keeps his cool and stands firm against the GOP, the Bush tax cuts will expire in 2013. A small recession will occur, but it will end in the second half of 2013, lowering debt to GDP and allowing us to focus on the recession and spending our way to prosperity (which works).

Bush 2 was an @!$%#, as much as his father.

It's certainly a comfort to see both Romney and Obama take the time to pander to this political special interest group - I wonder if the Inaugural Address will be in Spanish this year?

I think it's time for a "National Association of Legal American Middle Class Citizens"....we lack a political organization to represent the rest of us in this country

Funny, the man has been in office for almost four years and has not done squat about immigration reform other than pander to the very people we are trying without much success to stem the flow of. About all he has done is give more power to Holder anf Napolitano to screw things up even more! the only immigration reform Obama will fight for is that which allow illegals to vote him into another term of office! I live on the Arizona/Mexico border in SE Arizona about six blocks away from the border fence. I can guarrantee that those of us that live down here at ground zero have a much different view on said reform that those who do not live anywhere near the border.

"For those who are saying Congress should be the one to fix this, absolutely," Obama said. "For those who say we should do this in a bipartisan fashion, absolutely. My door's been open for three-and-a-half years. They know where to find me."

Obama didn't even need any Republicans when he had control of Congress for his first 2 years - so where was the 'promise' that immigration reform would be one of his top priorities? Somehow, he never even got around to offering a plan, and now he cynically puts out a gimmick that could only stand for only a few months.

Worse yet, he's asking young Hispanics to step forward and self-identify themselves as illegal immigrants and provide the authorities with their name, address, phone number, place of birth, etc - all the information that might move them to the top of the deportation list.

This is a cynical 'gimmick' on Obama's part to find another issue to divide people and delude Hispanics.

By the way - it was policy under Bush that if a young illegal Hispanic served 3 years in the military, they could then legally apply for full citizenship, which was almost always granted - so that is NOT a new policy.

So Roy -- if you post the same thing twice you still think it's right?

Perhaps... after the inauguration when he the foundout the economic freefall was massively worse than what the prior administration allowed to be leaked out, he needed to prioritize? Slowing the massive job losses, banks failing, auto industry going belly up... have you forgotten already? And yes - health care, whose costs are out of control and financially severely affect those who cannot afford cadillac plans? And he barely had "control of Congress" the first two years with Byrd and Kennedy passing away. Those unending fillibusters thanks to the GOP have prevented so much to be done to put us back on the good path. It was the GOP who fillibustered the Dream Act -- so in reality, he has tried.

You GOP have such short and twisted memories of this. Pathetic.

I swear, you Republicans have the memory of a goldfish.

Except for the 1 month initial window, Obama/Dems did NOT have supermajority. Sen. Ted Kennedy was out with the disease that eventually killed him, and he was replaced by a Republican Scott Brown. And before that, Sen. Al Franken was held up by the recount mess in his state.

But more importantly, *WHY* did Obama and Democrat needed the supermajority to pass things like immigration reform? Because [Fill in the Blanks] were (and still are) filibustering absolutely everything that comes out of the Democrat's side.

Considering the sheer number of filibusters that the GOP engaged during Obama's term, they are absolutely shameless when they start grumbling about Obama not meeting his promises.

"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 48% of the vote, while President Obama earns 43%. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are undecided."

A few weeks before Obama's 'immigration change', they were virtually tied, or Obama was slightly ahead.

Why do Liberals think it is OK to ignore laws that they don’t like? The illegals are just that, here illegally. They may be wonderful and great people, but they or their families committed a crime by trespassing across our boarders. Change the law for the future if you want to let everyone in, but why feel bad for the people that knew they were committing a crime?

How would some of the celebrities that are pushing for
amnesty feel about people climbing over their fence and camping out by the pool in their back yard? Oh! They have had people arrested for trespassing onto their property.

Are we now going to set all prisoners free if their only crime was trespassing or breaking and entering?

Golly John, it seems that the Dems had a 59-40-1 in the Senate and a VAST MAJORITY in the House and the only thing he has managed to do is to Bankrupt the country. Remember, the Dems had control of the Congress since 2006 and THEY were in control of the HOUSING and FINANCIAL aspects of Congress when the housing Industry started sliding AND LOSERS like BARNEY were in control of the FINANCIAL Committees and proclaimed that everything IS OKAY. Then came 2008 and the country elected its FIRST NON-AMERICAN as President and since he has no real ties to this country and he and his wife BOTH have proclaimed how much they HATE America and set his course to destroying America with the help of Morons like Pelosi and Reid. He passed health-care that is about to go down the tubes, he passed financial reform that is a disaster in itself, He and HOLDER and doing a fine job of getting Americans KILLED and then denying it. Can you say COVER UP CHILDREN. It seems that every time we have a Democrat living in Public Housing there is ALWAYS a huge scandal and then they deny it. Immigration Reform? We don't NEED OR WANT IT. ALL Obama is after are ILLEGAL VOTERS like he had in 2008 so he can continue his corruption and destruction of America. There are WAY too many LEGAL Americans out of work to be worrying about the Mexicans who have already slimed their country.

Tomorrow he will throw his dart at the spinning wheel and where it lands will determine what he'll talk about. This wheel has many named segments, i.e. Bain, Mormon, Rich guy, etc. The only segment it doesn't have is one named "economy".

Be careful Theresa. The Democrats use the filibuster often to stop Republican laws for years. Also ---- we now have majority vote instead of 2/3rds in California and the first act by our State Legislature was to pass a budget that spends more than we will ever take in and will put the state in Bankruptcy in 2 years........... that is what a majority vote can do. OH and a couple of other "laws" ----- We now teach our 6- 10 year olds all about being Gay and allow our kids to use any bathroom they feel is comfortable for their sexual identity. Our 7 year old boys can now dress as girls and use the Girls restroom........... THAT IS WHAT MAJORITY VOTES ALLOW

I really wonder how many understand who controls what in this country. The President can not be blamed for the misery Americans feel, regardless of what party he is from. The Congress is responsible for bankrupting us because of their spending habits. The President proposes a budget, but it is the Congress that draws it up.

That rational defense being said, I will not vote for the man because there are things that he never should have signed like NDAA and HR 347. He never should have authorized F&F and who knows what else we haven't heard about yet. There are rational reasons to not vote for him, especially ones that violate the Constitution which he swore to uphold and protect. Protecting the rights of the some 300 million of us. But blaming him for anything involving spending and immigration reform lays at the feet of Congress.

I liked the man in the beginning, but he can go home now, and take his little dog "Holder" with him.

            ...FIGHT FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM?

.......why do we need immigration reform when any illegal interloper can just waltz across the border and "hide out" for as long as they like and maybe drag their pregnant wives or girl friends with them? Now THERE'S a thought! If you want to reform anything, reform the Fourteenth Amendment AND REQUIRE THAT ONE OF THE PARENTS BE AN AMERICAN CITIZEN BEFORE ANY KIDS ARE GRANTED CITIZENSHIP! NO MORE AUTOMATIC "I WAS BORN HERE" CITIZENSHIP WHEN BOTH PARENTS ARE NON-U.S. CITIZENS!

This citizenship, give-away, free for all has to be stopped right now, and NOT have to be revisited every couple of DECADES after millions of more illegal border jumpers set roots and scream for an undeserved 'justice.' They shouldn't be allowed to stay BECAUSE our ass hole Congresses (Republican and Democrat), past and present, can't seem to manage our porous Borders and the illegal interlopers who cross it with impunity.

Yup, just keep raising our taxes and dragging the middle class down into poverty while everyone gets poorer and poorer just so illegals can come into the country and get a free ride. Sickening. We need to take care of our own first.

How about stopping the "tidal wave" at the border and secure it. I think we have enough problems in this country now, without adding another 12 million more to drag it down further.

This guy is a clown, and you cant blame Bush for that.

Regardless what anyone says...the democrats had a super majority for a period of time to pass every promise that Obama made as a candidate. He chose to waste an enormous amount of time passing an abomination of a healthcare act that even he didn't want just to say they passed one. If the democrats had focused on quick votes for "card check", it would have passed in a week. Same with the Dream Act. The president had the opportunity to pay back the unions and hispanics in very short order. His own party leaders have said that too much emphasis and time was spent on healthcare reform. Even with closed door last minute deals within the democratic party, it took way too much time to pass. The president and the democrats never thought the people of Massachusetts would vote in a Republican taking away their super majority. But, President Arrogant didn't get the message...not until the "shellacking" of the election of 2010 (his words). Sorry illegal immigrants...don't have time to try to compromise with the republicans. Got to get some campaign money, go on the "View" and play another round of golf. Oh, sorry to all the unions. too busy campaigning in Illinois and Minnesota to stop even for an hour in Wisconsin to show support during the recall.

This isn't about immigration reform...it is about trying to get hispanics to go to the polls like they did in 2008. The polling numbers haven't changed as far as the percentages. If the hispanic vote does not turn out, Obama will lose by a lot. If they do turn out, it will be close. But, if the economy continues to go south, believe me, my Mexican brothers and I will vote our wallet over another broken promise.

LOOK CLOSER; Look MUCH closer at this terrible anti-citizen plan.

Because the new Obama amnesty would not require college graduation, the 800,000 figure is no longer valid.

2 million would qualify. In addition, the Obama amnesty would not require a person to even go to college which would add hundreds of thousands more illegal aliens to the beneficiary list.

Flooding the marketplace with cheap foreign labor! Lowering the paychecks of citizens.

THIS LAW DOES NOT APPLY TO FUTURE KIDS WHO CROSS THE BORDER. ONLY THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY HERE. YOU JUST CAN'T CLOSE YOUR EYES AND PRETEND THEY ARE NOT HERE

Could one of those claiming the Republicans blocked immigration reform during Obama's first two years, please clarify how that worked?

There were 59 Democrats in the Senate and one swing siding with the Democrats giving them 60 votes.

How did 40 Republicans get to cast 45 votes? Or did maybe some Democrats also vote no?

            Mrs. Pelosi will probably say:

"Granting the Illegal Alien (Immigrants) children a FREE PASS worker permit will IMPROVE the economy, reduce unemployment, cut costs on grocery items, and....and....and they will pay taxes. We will block any State requirement to check them for an I.D. at the voting booth. They do have a "Social Right" to vote. Now, this is the right thing to do."

notthatyoucare....."THIS LAW DOES NOT APPLY TO FUTURE KIDS WHO CROSS THE BORDER. ONLY THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY HERE. YOU JUST CAN'T CLOSE YOUR EYES AND PRETEND THEY ARE NOT HERE."

I am so sure that the Illegal Aliens (Immigrants) who are currently lining up at the fence with their, and someone elses, children are going to tell the U.S. authorities that the children were in the States for the past 5 years at a relatives address. Yeah, right !!!!!

And come on enough crap about getting latino votes. He is granting a working VISA to these kids, NOT citizenship. SO THEY CAN'T VOTE not to mention they are probly not of age. The parents of these such said kids benefiting from the dream act are illegal, thus CAN'T VOTE. It takes YEARS to get citizenship, so many of those who are here legally with a green card, STILL CAN'T VOTE. Not to mention that they are a minority. So even if it's about getting latino votes, which it's not, he won't be able to get that many anyhow.

In 2008 Obama ran on yes we can, and now he is running on why we couldn't. But his campaign strategy has never changed, just say or doing anything to get elected. With helpers like the leftwing liberal loon Nancy Pelosi conjuring up yet another Republican scheme, this time suppressing the vote. Exerting executive privilege for what Jay Carney said was based on principle when then Senator Obama railed against its use during the Bush years. Who knew the Keystone Cops were orchestrating the Democratic Party. I am not sure the Good Ship Obama could be sinking faster if they were actually trying.

Obama does not care about the Hispanics, he is using them like political pawns. Even killing Mexicans with US guns. All he wants is your vote, after that you are no use to him....

What team Obama was trying to do was to advance a storyline in the media that since the ban on 'assault' weapons was lifted, Mexican drug gangs had been loading up on 'assault' weapons in the U.S. This would have not only appealled to his 'gun control' base that were still hot over losing the ban, it would also make Obama into the defender of innocent Mexicans as opposed to the 'racist' Republicans who don't care how many little brown people their policies kill.... Good for the Hispanic vote.

It would have worked too, if only they had been able to sweep in and be 'shocked...shocked to discover' ( in "Casablanca style) that the drug cartels had all these recently bought in America 'assault weapons'. The fact that the cartels had bought the guns from Obama (in effect) would not probably have even come to light and even if it did it could be claimed that the sting came about because the Cartels were actively trying to shop for guns in America and Obama moved to put a stop to that.

But they lost the guns. So they couldn't sweep in and be heroes.

Their sneaky plan backfired. Obama had no choice but to cover his tracks. Fail!

You are correct and isn't it amusing to see Obama claiming credit for something Bush did instead of blaming him for everything that Obama has done wrong! Anyone who has seen the news reports of dozens of soldiers taking the oath of citizenship over the past 7 - 8 years knows that is the way it has been. Obama is just doing the "hope and change" routine on the illegals he did on the rest of us and them in the last election. I wonder how many will be dumb enough to fall for it a second time. simply, i cannot believe our nation is in the predicament it's in right now - the economy is horrible; unemployment is at an all time high; the few jobs that are available don't pay enough to make a living; and it's 2012. i'm making the same salary i did back in the early 90s.

but people are walking around with $500 smart phones, Ipads, tablets, etc. and i'm wondering how this is possible. how can our nation be this messed up when we are supposed to be the best and the brightest??

it's sickening to think where this all is going - and it doesn't matter WHO you vote for - nothing is going to change. all the promises from politicians are LIES - they never do what they promise. no matter how you look at it .. we are basically screwed.

Would that be the same government that claims to know nothing about the guns that went to Mexico and ended up klilling our border agents. Would that be the same government that has let illegals from the middle east remain here after school visas or H1b visa when they have finished school on our dime usually, and or lost the jobs they were brought in for? It always amazes me when dems blindly repeat the President's lie that it was a republican fillibuster that killed the dream act in the Senate. Do any of you know how many dems voted NO on the Dream Act Cloture vote? Well if you lack basic googling skills, the answer is FIVE. In addition to that, one other dem failed to vote because he decided to go to a party instead. Now, if you have some basic math skills, you would notice that if all six of those dems had voted for cloture, it would have passed, with one vote to spare. That hardly sounds like a republican fillibuster. It sounds more like poor dem leadership. The only house that passed the act was the republican controlled house...

John Skaggs "The Great Reagan gave over FIVE MILLION illegals amnesty in 1985. Shall we crucify his ass posthumously??"

Actually, Reagan signed that bill because the Democrats included a provision that employers of illegal immigrants would be fined and penalized - without jobs, the illegals would go back home. Little did he know that the Democrats would refuse to enforce that part of the law - under Obama's 'Prosecutorial Discretion' nonsense - picking which laws to enforce and which ones to ignore.

As long as a President refuses to enforce the laws (even suing States like Arizona for trying to do so), the only temporary solution is to tighten the border.

There is a difference in stating "sense of hope" versus "offers hope". One means that it could change at any time or go away completly, the other means it is written in stone. The man could never speak without a teleprompter! He should be talking from the heart and really mean it.

            some Obama Accomplishments:

            1) universal health care for all sponges (Intial Estimate: 900 Million Reality: 1.7 Trillion)

CORRECTION: Healthcare costs have gone up, not to mention that the CBO extended the view of the spending effects of the bill. Technically, Obama doesn't give healthcare to everyone; he merely mandates that everyone buy health insurance. And the bill still reduces the deficit by at least $100 billion.

            2) income redistribution

Where exactly has this happened???? Obama hasn't raised anybody's taxes except the sin taxes (Obamacare will raise them in 2014). And I actually can't wait till Obama does the income redistribution, because it will a repayment for the middle class after the trickle-up economic policies of the past 30 years.

            3) first presidnet in history downgraded

Actually, the downgrade did not happen because of the President. Boehner couldn't get his caucus to vote for the Obama deficit reduction plan, which cut spending by roughly $2.8 trillion and raised revenues by $1.2 trillion. Because the cuts approved were insufficient, and it became apparent that the political polarization in Congress would not allow a comprehensive deal to be put forth, and so S&P downgraded us. Thank you Grover Norquist, the whining Tea Party, and that spineless Boehner.

            4) fast and furious

Started by Bush, ended by Holder.

            5) keystone pipeline pass

Obama simply wanted to make sure it wouldn't disrupt the Ogalala aquifer, and I say that if TransCanada won't hand over 50% of the oil, they can keep the damn pipeline, which by the way will only create about 4,000 temporary jobs.

            6) Solynda

            Enron.

            7) spread of socialism

Don't see a modern day Lenin campaigning. Obama is, at best, a center-left president. He compromised on so many things; his healthcare bill was to the right of Bill Clinton, for God's sake. The only reason why he's a socialist is because the GOP has moved so far to the right that it is now a fascist party.

            8) most on food stamps in history

            9) most on welfare in history

Natural, due to population growth and the harsh Republican recession.

            10) Nobel Prize

            11) Free DVDs to the British Prime Minsiter

            Don't see how that matters.

            12) apologizing for everything expect his failings

Romney was giving Lie of the Year Award by Politifact in 2011.

            12) securing the Olympics in Chicago

            Not much to talk about.

            13) shovel read jobs

Stimulus created up to 3.3 million of 'em.

            14) Gas up over 100%

Didn't see you complaining when gas was over $4 under Bush....

            15) For the 50% that pay taxes (not most of you here) Jan 1 --> Apr 17 goes to taxes

Only 18.1% of Americans don't pay taxes; everyone pays either the income tax, the payroll tax, or both. Of that, 6.9% make less than $20,000, 10.3% are elderly, and only 0.9% are both non-elderly and make over $20,000. FALSE.

            16) Unemployment rate

Down from 10% peak and would have been much lower had the GOP worked with Obama and had the states not laid of hundreds of thousands of workers.

            17) poverty up among CHILDREN 22% since he took office (guess who this impacts most?)

Thanks to the recession that was caused by CONSERVATIVE economic principles. Do you really expect the President to fix this in 4 years, given the complexity of the problem and the obstructionist GOP????

            18) violated war powers act

Technically, he only deployed US troops for a short amount of time, using the rest to give info to NATO during the Libyan civil war. Reminds me of Iran-Contra and the aid we gave to Iraq and Britain during the Iran-Iraq war and the Falklands War.

            ***********************I TOLD YOU SO***************************

Previously, I posted how President Obama had told the International News Media August 10, 2009 his intention on making the over 23 Million Illegal Aliens at the US Legal. Then all of you started the name calling, and you still do not even want to consider the reality:

And immigration remained a sore spot. While Obama has said he'd like to start crafting an overhaul that legalizes millions of Mexican immigrants, there's little chance of Congress acting this year, since even top administration priorities like health care and climate policy are moving slowly amid heated partisan debate.

To circumvent US Congress ("The Will of the People") President Obama's Policy (Welcome Mat), "Only Criminal Undocumented Immigrants will be deported".

All of you keep blaming Bush without even bothering to look at, Illegal Immigration Crisis Response Act of 2006, and it was the US Congress that chickened out in passage into US Law during the 2006 Nationwide Demonstrations of Illegal Aliens that threated violent race riots. Note: National Identification Card, to prevent like what is currently happening, New Mexico is giving Driver's Licenses to Illegal Aliens, States allow other States Driver's Licenses as proof of residence and US Citizenship Status, so that is how Illegal Aliens Vote at the US. Also the Official Language of the US would be American English.

notthatyoucare - He's not "screwing every legal in the US".

Yes, he is, especially the US Taxpayers. So now that he sets a Legal Precedent for Future Illegal Aliens since he laid out the Welcome Mat, the Future Illegal Aliens can hope for another Obama to give them the same Amnesty. You take away the hope for Illegal Aliens, then they will not come to the US, and many will self deport.

US Taxpayer money spent by the State of California 2004 on Illegal Aliens over $10 Billion, $7.7 Billion Education of Illegal Aliens, $1.4 Billion Health Care (that you cannot afford for yourself), $1.4 Billion Imprisonment of Illegal Aliens for Violent Crimes of Murder, Rape, Assault, Gang Intiations, Armed Robbery, etc.. These are the same age range that got the $7.7 Billion US Taxpayer paid Education. At that time the Sales Taxes collected were $17 Million, $17 Million does NOT pay for over $10 Billion.

Recently, the State of California spent over $25 Billion on Illegal Aliens as more Illegal Aliens fled other States enforcing Anti Illegal Alien Laws. President Obama's Policy for the US Census Bureau was not to ask US Citizenship Status, so the Illegal Aliens were counted. The State of California used the US Census Bureau Data to estimate the State's Revenues (Taxes Collected) and came up with a State Budget of over $100 Billion. Since Illegal Aliens "Work For Cash Only" and do NOT fill out Employer Paperwork as Employer Paperwork is used by ICE for Apprehensions and Deportations (State and Federal Income Tax Withholding, deductions for Social Security, deductions for Medical, Dental, Vision, deductions for Disability, etc.), the State of California ended up with $85 Billion. This resulted in required cuts to previously Budgeted Programs/Projects for Legal Residents of California like layoffs of Teachers, layoffs of Law Enforcement, layoffs of Fire Fighters, layoffs of Public Workers, cuts to Infrastructure Projects, increased Tuitions, etc.. 2012, so now the State of California has a Budget Shortfall of over $16 Billion, requiring even further cuts to Programs/Projects for Legal Residents of California.

Conversation Among President Nixon, President Echeverría,
and the President's Assistant for National Security Affairs (Kissinger), Washington,
            June 15, 1972

            Echeverría: Yes,
I think without making any clear commitment on your part, Mr. President, that
we can speak of progress having been made, and this will enable me to go back
home and take certain measures which I—will instill some hope in the hearts of
the farm workers of that area. And, without creating any problems for the
farmers of Arizona and California, but also offering some hope to the farmers
            of Baja California.

            And I can also
add that in my words to the Congress in a few minutes that, as a result of our
conversations, we can speak in general—we have spoken in general terms about
the problem of the wetbacks. That is: Mexican illegal immigrants to the United
            States.

            Nixon: Yes, yes,
yes. Because we will get—I just [unclear] Henry, for little more time tomorrow
            with the President, because—

            Kissinger:
            [Unclear]—

            Nixon: —we
started a little late. And you can—If you should indicate that we—we're—we—we
have discussed that problem; we'll go into it more tomorrow [unclear] tonight,
            at dinner.

            I think it might
be very well for the President, if he pre—if he desires to indicate that we
discussed the problems of the hemisphere.

            Echeverría: Sí.
            [Yes.]

            Nixon: Whatever
            you think [unclear]—

            Echeverría: Sí.
[Yes.] Without going into the specifics, but saying that there is an atmosphere
            of reciprocal understanding.

            Nixon: Um-hmm.

            Echeverría: And
as far as the wetbacks—the illegal Mexican immigrants—Mr. President, this, of
course, is a very complex problem that we might touch upon tomorrow, but I
think that we might think about the possibility of establishing a commission to
study the working conditions that these people are working in at the present
time. We can't speak, of course, in terms of an agreement, because we know what
the pressure would be from the American organized labor in that event.

            But, the fact is,
that we are being told that, that there may be as many as seven—800,000 illegal
Mexican workers in the United States.

            And American
farmers are accomplices in this situation because they get cheaper labor.

            Nixon: Right.

            Echeverría: And
so we have a very long border, Mr. President, and these people cross over and
find work under conditions that sometimes are exceedingly harsh.

            Nixon: And then,
many of them move to the cities, which makes it even worse for them.

            Echeverría:
They've gotten—They've moved quite a ways north, now; they're no longer
concentrated exclusively in California and Texas; they've gone in to the
            Midwest and Chicago.

            They have
relatives and friends already settled in these areas, and they give them some
            cover.

            Nixon: Yeah.

            Echeverría: And
the attitude of the radical Chicano groups in California and Texas has been
changing as far as these new illegal immigrants are concerned, are concerned.
They're starting to help them, now.

            If, at first,
these Chicano groups did not like to see these illegals coming in because they
meant competition for jobs, but now, they are changing their attitude, all with
            a very definite political direction.

            So, you have your
problem of a minority that is growing in the United States.

            So, the best
thing would be to face the problem and then study it.

            Without ruffling
the feathers of the unions, of course, but to study what their conditions are
because this is something that, I think, affects all of us.

And what did it do to all American taxpayers and LEGAL immigrants.... spit in their face.

Just admit it you coward, Democrats have become so repulsive, unethical, immoral, and treasonous that the only "hope" they have for survival is to sell America to foreign criminals.

              Impeach Obama.

Mac, I think it is good that non-Hispanics attended Obama's speech. I think it is good that non-Hispanics are concerned about how immigration reform will effect all the people living inside the US borders (both Hispanic and non-Hispanic plus both legal and illegal). And I think it is good for anyone to go see a sitting President speak.

With that said, I think we need to be realistic. Even if President Obama is well intended, he has not demonstrated much ability to get immigration reform passed.

And on that realistic theme, who on here thinks either party is going to win 70% or more of either chamber in Congress in November. To listen to President Obama, he needs 70% plus in order to govern. And I do not recall a Congress controlled by 70% from either party during my lifetime. If President Obams needs that 70%, what is the point of giving him a second term?

The lesson from the 1986 experience is that such an amnesty did not solve the problem. There was extensive document fraud, and the number of people applying for amnesty far exceeded projections.

              It was a colossal failure.

And there was a failure of political will to enforce new laws against employers. After a brief slowdown, illegal immigration returned to high levels and continued unabated, forming the nucleus of today's large population of illegal aliens.

We NEED aggressive enforcement of our laws; that's something we have never tried!

"US Taxpayer money spent by the State of California 2004 on Illegal Aliens over $10 Billion, $7.7 Billion Education of Illegal Aliens, $1.4 Billion Health Care (that you cannot afford for yourself), $1.4 Billion Imprisonment of Illegal Aliens for Violent Crimes of Murder, Rape, Assault, Gang Intiations, Armed Robbery, etc.. These are the same age range that got the $7.7 Billion US Taxpayer paid Education. At that time the Sales Taxes collected were $17 Million, $17 Million does NOT pay for over $10 Billion."

You're argument was very well argued regarding the money aspect only assuming that illegals for the most part do not pay their taxes. You my friend have clearly not worked at a restaurant. Most people think that illegals don't pay taxes because they get paid under the table. This is obviously true today. However new laws has made this difficult to occur with inspections. What many restaurants do now (from friends stories and the ones I've worked at myself) illegals work and pay their taxes but do so with false papers. So tax money is still being paid. Again, this is from my personal experience, I can't speak for all.

Also, you failed to see the bigger picture of what the dream act actually does and means. That is what we are discussing.NOT illegals in general. Yes, there have been many crimes committed by the illegals coming over here with assault, rape, and murder. But remember there are just as many american criminals too. Yes I agree a great number of the illegals have particularly taken to crime, yet these are illegal kids being issued visas, not the adult illegal criminals. Not to mention that when these kids begin the process of citizenship, their records must be clean(not from the dream act but from normal immigration laws practices)

Obama will say what is necessary to get the Latino vote. Obama never develop a Comprehensive Immigration Reform, because his own party is divided and they can't have an agreement how to bring a solution to the immigration problem. Obama fail to illegal immigrants , Obama fail to Americans.

                Freshieee
                JamesInSeattle some Obama Accomplishments:

                1) universal health care for all sponges (Intial Estimate: 900 Million Reality: 1.7 Trillion)

CORRECTION: Healthcare costs have gone up, not to mention that the CBO extended the view of the spending effects of the bill. Technically, Obama doesn't give healthcare to everyone; he merely mandates that everyone buy health insurance. And the bill still reduces the deficit by at least $100 billion.

Nope, President Obama got $1 Billion of Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions for giving the Insurance Corporations $67 Billion of US Taxpayer Money, Medical Device Corporations $23 Billion US Taxpayer Money, Pharmaseucticals Corporations $20 Billion. Since President Obama's ACA aka Health Care Reform of $1.7 Trillion to $2.1 Trillion (Adjusted for Inflation) was not previously Budgeted for by US Congress, US Congress had to find the money, by cutting previously Budgeted for Projects/Programs for US Citizens.

See his 2012 State of the Union Address, his previous as Candidate Obama 2008 "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share", President Obama's 2011 "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share", forcing the Rich US and Foreign Business Investors to leave the US to China, India, Vietnam, etc. adding to the Credit Crisis as to why the US Government had to provide Loans to Corporations.

Nope, President Obama did not listen to President Clinton's "It's the Economy Stupid". The First Thing President Obama did NOT work on was Reinstating the US Laws to make Illegal the Causes of the Current $60 Trillion to $100 Trillion "Global Economic Crisis" consisting of the Mortgage Crisis, Wall Street Crisis, Banking Crisis, Financial Crisis, Credit Crisis, etc..

                4) fast and furious

Started by Bush, ended by Holder.

Try again, just because someone else did something does not mean that you too are going to jump off a cliff. So you hired President Obama to be President Bush III.

Nope. Building from the wrong end first is what President Obama did.

                6) Solynda

                Enron.

Once again NOW not years ago.

Really, you might want to review what President Obama has done, not what he says. Historically, the US Labor Unions after being taken over by the "Italian Organized Crime" were the sympathizers to Fascist Mussolini and his Blackshirts, and later on adopted the violent tactics as Union Tactics of Chancellor Hitler's SA, and later on SS, NAZIs.

The US Labor Union Boss stating to President Obama, "We are your Army".

                8) most on food stamps in history

                9) most on welfare in history

Natural, due to population growth and the harsh Republican recession.

Nope. PResident Clinton removed those US Laws that made Illegal the Causes of the Current Depression not Recession.

                10) Nobel Prize

                11) Free DVDs to the British Prime Minsiter

                Don't see how that matters.

How about this I give you a tooth brush as a head of State. So much for your knowledge of History and International Political Protocol.

                12) apologizing for everything expect his failings

Romney was giving Lie of the Year Award by Politifact in 2011.

Politifact is not a valid source of anything, go follow the money as their funding.

                12) securing the Olympics in Chicago

                Not much to talk about.

Other than he spent loads of US Taxpayer money attempting to.

                13) shovel read jobs

Stimulus created up to 3.3 million of 'em.

Nope. US Construction Jobs are mostly done by Illegal Aliens, not US Citizens.

                14) Gas up over 100%

Didn't see you complaining when gas was over $4 under Bush....

Not a steady over $4.00, like under President Obama.

FALSE.

You must also believe that the Illegal Aliens pay Income Taxes too. LOL.

                16) Unemployment rate

Down from 10% peak and would have been much lower had the GOP worked with Obama and had the states not laid of hundreds of thousands of workers.

Nope. President Obama has created more Unemployment by forcing the US Corporations to China, India, Vietnam, etc. with his "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share".

President Obama as Commander In Chief has just thrown out like trash hundreds of thousands US Military Personnel during his Ordered Reduction In Forces of the US Military.

                17) poverty up among CHILDREN 22% since he took office (guess who this impacts most?)

Thanks to the recession that was caused by CONSERVATIVE economic principles. Do you really expect the President to fix this in 4 years, given the complexity of the problem and the obstructionist GOP????

Nope. PResident Clinton removed those US Laws that made Illegal the Causes of the Current Depression not Recession.

Like I kept saying President Obama needed to Reinstate those US Laws as the First thing upon becoming US President instead of taking away US Citizens Rights with his signing into US Laws his January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts (plural).

                18) violated war powers act

Technically, he only deployed US troops for a short amount of time, using the rest to give info to NATO during the Libyan civil war. Reminds me of Iran-Contra and the aid we gave to Iraq and Britain during the Iran-Iraq war and the Falklands War.

Technically NOTHING. President Obama is required by US Law, 1973 War Power Resolution to inform US Congress (both Houses all Members) 48 hours in advance of ANY US Military Actions, this is so that US Congress can write a US Law to cover his arse and Appropriate the Funds.

President Obama as Commander In Chief can only have the US Military perform ANY US Military Actions for 60 Days. That ANY means ANY; Combat, Combat Support, Combat Service Support, Advisors, Trainers, Asymmetric Warfare (covert), etc..

After the 60 Days he has 30 Days to Completely Withdraw all US Military.

Because President Obama failed to obey the US Law, 1973 War Powers Resolution, US Congress did not have a US Law to cover his arse like President Clinton had the US Law H.R.4655 "Iraqis Liberation Act Of 1998" Justification WMDs, President Bush had US Law 2002 Iraqi War Resolution, both with US Congressional Appropriations. So because President Obama did not have the money, he used US Taxpayer Billions of USDs of Discretionary Spending to pay for the US Military, NATO Personnel, NATO's Bombs, Fuel, etc..

You know NOTHING about, Iran Contra (US attempting to Overthrow the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran's Government by training, organizing, arming Iranians loyal to the Shah of Iran).

LOL, at least the US Aid was to US Ally Iraq, and US Ally Britain; unlike President Obama giving Billions to Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists that have been killing US Military Service Members, those Nations innocent Civilians, and US Citizens.

                JamesInSeattle,

                Add to your list:

President Obama's March 2009 Policy that resulted in: a. the US and US Allies loss of Iraqis Oil that could have paid for the US Military Liberation of Iraq with Decades of Iraqis Oil, in 2011 the Chinese and Russian Federation got the Iraqis Oil, pressure on the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Government of Iraq to get the US out of Iraq, no more talks with President Obama. President Obama must follow the President Bush Withdrawal Time Table from Iraq eventhough the situation had changed completely.
                b. The Overthrows of US Allies Worldwide., c. Loss of Strategic Locations throughout the World., d. Pressure on the US Ally Afghan Government to give the High Tech Mineral Wealth to the Chinese (Metallurgical Group China), the High Tech Mineral Wealth that the US needs for current Standard of Living lost to the Chinese 2011., e. Pressure on the US Ally Pakistanis Government to get the US out or be Overthrown., f. Increased Strategic Sphere of Influence of the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran., g. US European Allies loss of the Strategic Libyan Oil to the Chinese as negotiated by the "Libyan Rebels" and Qatar., h. Pissed on US Allies so much, US Ally King of Saudi Arabia, "President Obama gave Iraq to Iran as a Gift on a Golden Platter"., i. Islamic Jihadists now have 20, 000 shoulder launched SA-7 anti aircraft missiles., j. President Obama's Guantanamo Prisoners transferred to Gaddaffi's Prisons released by the Islamic Jihadists aka "Libyan Rebels".

                Expansion of Guantanamo.

oh, yes, myth most of the Fruits and Vegetables are NOT harvested by the Illegal Aliens, as most of the US Fruits and Vegetables currently come from South and Central Americas. And even if it were the case, those jobs were previously one of the "low paid", "hard work", "no benefits" jobs that the Children (Teenagers) of US Citizens used to do, so Unemployment that category Children of US Citizens is 52%.

I have to say you are on to something.

According to wiki Mexico, in 2010, had a population of 112 million. In what other organized society could 20 million crossing the border not be seen as an invasion. 20% of their pop now lives in the US.

I still say that we would have been better off outsourcing our jobs to Mexico instead of China. They would be leaving in droves and going home for work. And some Americans might even think about jumping the border to Mexico looking for work.

Plain bob, why spend taxpayer money to impeach? We can just vote him out in less than 5 months. A whole lot cheaper and a whole lot more satisfying.

                      Here's another plan or idea,
If all these folks (Illegals & there kids) want to stay here in the U.S I say OK but,

Here's how it can be done,

Whatever country they came from can start paying the U.S for there housing, Schooling, Medical care and so on.
If there so proud of the countries they came from (Mexico on that 1) but want to be educated and taken care of plus take jobs from American workers then I'm all for it but again I state that someone other than the USA pay for them until they become legal immigrants. I think a lot of these countries love the fact there people are leaving so they don't have to deal with them anymore.

I really do not care if they (Anyone from ANY country) comes here but I am sick and tired of them getting everything at the expense of the US taxpayer. This way its not a Democrat or Republican issue anymore.

So many of these illegals are driving unsafe cars & trucks, uninsured/No insurance, No Drivers license, not to even mention the drug runners, criminals, sexual predators and the list goes on.

Why I ask should we (American taxpayers) have to deal with all of this? Because our government doesn't want to enforce our own laws and again it doesn't matter if its the Democrats or Republicans.

Yes, We are ALL Immigrants but and here's the kicker,

We the American people are the Legal ones here and if you are to become legal US citizen yourselves someone has to pay your way while your getting to where you want to be in life, NOT US! the U.S Taxpayer.

Heck, With what the U.S sends to most countries in foreign aid they can even use some of that to pay your way as were going broke supporting your illegal activities while you try to become a citizen and it has to stop or change soon.

If there was ever a President that did what they promised to do while running for the presidency I think I'd have stroke as would many others, Elections are nothing more than who can lie the best to the people. And that is a fact!
That in itself should be against the law as well.

We the people of these United States of America, WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!

                      What politician isn't????

He does not give a crap about what the Americans want.

And Mitt "I like to fire people" Romney does????

Fast & Furious was started by Obama

Technically it was started by the Justice Department, not Obama.

Wide Receiver was started by Bush

And was a model for Fast and Furious.

Do not get them confused because nobody died from Wide Receiver.

They both failed, though. And they were basically the same thing, just during different times.

                      @ ROY WILSON-336103,

If this was true about the list you say, I would be all for it but it's not and you know how this is going to play out. Millions will be made citizens and millions more will sneak into the United States hoping they too will be citizens if they stick around long enough. This has been done before and it will continue until the day we close our borders that mean people crossing in both directions. We will continue to fight drug cartels and gangs until China and Russia decide too many people are dying in Mexico. I wouldn't be surprised if Mexico wasn't already talking to China about how to help them control its people. That's one thing china is good at.

If they would have put land mines along the southern border 40 years ago we wouldnt have this problem, and where I lived in Orlando I worked with puerto ricans and most of them resented the cubans and vica versa and they all hated the mexicans coming there to work, so you see Latinos dont like each other, I dont know which of these groups care then about illegal immigrants coming here to take their jobs . In november lets see if the idiots that voted for Obamatard will be stupid enough to vote for him again or they have wised up or they are part of the "you cant fix stupid" crowd.

Well ........the planned paid rt wing troll mass attack on this blog sure is taking up space. Most everyone of all your comments have been proven utter nonsense before and the same people keep lying, trying the old republican trick of if you lie about something over and over, to the less intelligent/les informed people read it and believe it. So the next repub trick is to make racist comments and name calling bringing fear out in repubs, because studies show fear statements work on the brains of conservative/republican people. While the same stimuli given to people who are liberal/Democratic party, stimulates the brain that uses logic and reasoning.

So let's start with the crime scene of the day after President Obama's inauguration.

Corruption with repubs against President Obama started the day after his taking office. 14-15 republicans secretly met to pledge to vote against every bill that would help the economy recover. They pledged this saying they wanted him to be a one term president. They pledged to take the economy down just to destroy the presidents plans for recovery. Bin Laden wrote down the same plan and executed 911 to take the economy down to destroy the nation. These repubs, Ryan, Cantor, DeMint, and Ginggrich pledged to act like the Taliban, act like the insurgents do,(their own actual words) to prevent President Obama from a second term. Acting like the supreme terrorist of all time Bin Laden. Traitors. Deliberately sabotaging the recovery. Ref Richard draper new book.

Alan Simpson Republican, had this to say about his own party on 5/27/2012 Huff Post.

Former Sen. Alan Simpson (R-Wyo.) lashed out at members of his party on Sunday, slamming them for their unwillingness to compromise on proposed tax increases.

In his characteristically colorful style, Simpson told CNN's Fareed Zakaria that Republicans' rigid opposition to new tax revenues has hampered productivity and diminished the chances of reaching an agreement with Democrats on debt reduction.

"You can’t cut spending your way out of this hole," Simpson, who was appointed as co-chair of President Obama's Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform in 2010, said. "You can’t grow your way out of this hole, and you can’t tax your way out of this hole. So put that in your pipe and smoke it, we tell these people. This is madness."

Simpson continued: "If you want to be a purist, go somewhere on a mountaintop and praise the east or something. But if you want to be in politics, you learn to compromise. And you learn to compromise on the issue without compromising yourself. Show me a guy who won’t compromise and I’ll show you a guy with rock for brains."

Gallop poll 6/14/2012 68% of all Americans blame Bush for the economy mess. 50% of republicons blame Bush for the economy mess. So spin away, Americans know you repubs and teabagggers are lying when you blame the President pf ther United states.

Immigration with the Mistster, say he would veto the Dream Act, Flip Flop. now he is gainst, then for, then will work with, Perry even rips Romney during debates for his anti imigtation stance for that debate.

As far as deporting goes, President Obama passed Bush's total already in less than half the time by making the department more efficient and adding more agents to the field.

Issa going after Holder because Holder is stopping illegal voter suppression laws being passed per ALEC corporation money. Holder protecting the country while the rich superpacs are taking the country down.

Boo ...Hoo....the rt wing can't handle that their plan to destroy the country by crashing the economy is not working and doom and gloom is not believed.

President Obama/Biden, for the real Americans.

Repubs and "corporations are people" let foreigners pick the republicon candidate they choose with their money. Show me a corporation's birth certificate!

Vote President Obama/Biden...2012.......protect the nation from the greed.

In 1986, Ronald Reagan signed a "Amnesty" bill which allowed legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, in return for the Democratic promise of tough penalies against employers (no jobs = self-deport). Unfortunately, the Democrats refused to enforce those tough sanctions against employers, and now we have millions more illegal immigrants saying "Where's MY Amnesty".

Obama talks about another 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform' bill, but what new laws will be conveniently ignored once millions more are 'legalized'? We can't just keep doing this every 25 years or so - ENFORCE THE LAWS - NO 'PROSECUTORIAL DISCRETION' NONSENSE.

By the way - since when does the President have the authority to decide which laws are to be enforced and which are to be ignored? Do we have the rule of law, or do we have a 'Dictator'?

The flip floper was caught with illegals because he did not want to pay AMERICANS. A millionaire! A Millionaire needs to hire illegals just to get a few more pennies from Americans. Romney...giving jobs to illegals. GREED is his god.

A multi MILLIONAIRE, refuses to hire AMERICANS. The man who represents the very soul of Republicons. A CRIMINAL for hiring illegals.

Let's just dis all legalities and laws that are, choke, choke, "illegal". Why have legals and illegals when it legally translates to nothings? Let's absolve all murderers, thieves and child molesters who have committed illegalities. This is the new, American way and thinking. Why have laws -- if we are permitted to disobey them?

Why not give legal Americans the same rights as Obama gave to illegal Americans? Let's open the prison gates and release all murderers, all thieves, all illegal, law breakers, because after all, why absolve one criminal, illegal, when we should illegalize all illegals? Why punish legal Americans when we have all these illegal transplants?.

I had a friend who was a chief sheriff of a small, California community, who said he would have no criminals and no crime if not for illegals. Give us your least conscious, your poorest, your least educated, your most ignorant and aware. Your least advantaged, and this will drag down the quality of thinking and level of consciousness in America.

This is about dumbing down America. This is about fairness to legal Americans; this is about quality of life for all legal citizens. This is insanity and craziness. At what point do we say, enough is enough of Mexico's problems, alone?? Until we are burgeoning at the seams with humans, and all their problems, on the shoulders of America's tax payers? Why should we shoulder Mexico's ever expanding populations of the most ignorant, the least conscious and the poorest and least educated??

Let's join middle America and say, enough is enough. Mexico's problems are Mexico's, not ours.

These problems are Mexico's, not our nation. If you or I were found to perform something illegal, we would get the full net of the law. Why do we permit Mexico's illegals when we don't permit illegal, true, legal Americans? It's a study in basic reasoning and logic. At what point, are we busting at the seams with the ever, growing, more and more?

An empassioned Obama said at that conference.." Republicans in Congress blocked the Dream Act"....

Just a quick note....Here's the 5 Democrats that voted NO...and the 1 that had something better to do than vote:

"Five Democrats voted against the bill: Sens. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Jon Tester (D-Mt.), Max Baucus (D-Mt.) and Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), who switched her vote to a "no" at the last minute. Sen. Question:

why did he wait until now to step up? I'll tell you why.....it's election time and he knows he's in trouble so he's pandering for every vote from any minority group he thinks will believe his lies. Fact is he's lost much of his core base because he has been such an incompetent president - I even believe Jimmy Carter was better then this guy!.

So lets rename this guy to more reflect who/what he is:

                      2. Whinner-In-Chief

                      3. The Nanny King

You might include more accurate information with your post. The vote for moving the debate forward on the DREAM Act failed, not the actual Bill. Senate has to debate it first before they can vote to pass it. The motion for debate failed 55-41. Sixty votes were required, so they were 5 votes short.

And by the way, that healthcare reform bill is A LOT CHEAPER than the bill for the Bush tax cuts...

Hell, at least the Democrats managed to have some diversity in their vote and show that they, not the party, think for themselves!!! The Republicans voted against the bill in lockstep; even though at least 20 of them had previously supported the bill and 11 of them were co-sponsors!!!! You should be asking why the Republicans flip-flopped instead of why the Democrats didn't get everyone to vote their way. Getting everyone to vote your way is near impossible; but, for the GOP, it's a must, as the party members MUST NOT think for themselves....

On March 28, 2011 obama spoke AGAINST doing exactly what he just did - you can't trust this man to speak the truth.....what you can do is expect him to do whatever is necessary to advance his agenda or please his narcissistic personality. He also said, "America is a nation of laws and I, as the president, am obligated to enforce the law, I don't have a choice about that."......except, apparently when violating that solemn obligation serves his reelection needs!

My concerns about this man are that, if he gets re-elected, what other lawless end runs around Congress's authority will he commit and who - on either side of the isle - will call him to task on it.....we know the Dems/liberals won't but it seems as if the Rep/Conserv. don't have the nads for it either - not to mention the liberal media who have done nothing but bless his every action. I wonder how this man can fool so many people into voting for him - I am truly amazed they can't see through his phoniness.

...and given the GOP/Neo-Fascist Party's rabid opposition to an intelligent overhaul of our immigration policy, they are probably still wondering why their blighted political party doesn't have very much support among the Latino community...or among women voters, minorities, union workers, seniors, or moderates. The Republico-Nazi Party is a party of exclusion, not inclusion, and that is not a strategy that wins national elections.

President Obama in November! There is no other rational choice.

You are wrong on so many issues with your accusations....where do I begin. First, you conveniently do not respond to my restatement of obama's self-serving speech which is typical of the left - because you like to ignore truths, that's why you voted for obama - you like to be lied to. Instead you go directly to the name calling attack with stupid comments that you probably don't even know the meaning of - you just heard them spoken somewhere....monkey see, monkey do!. obama only did what he did because he knew Marco Rubio (repub. from Fl) was about to introduce an immigration bill which basically was very similar to obama's - the only difference was that Rubio was going to do it the democratic way by going through the legal steps. obama couldn't have that, because that would have diffused his magnanimous gift to the Latino community and probably cost him those votes - so he committed a lawless act. Read something on your own and get a real education - not the junk with which you are filling your brain with now. AND....keep your spirits up brother because in Nov. obama is out!

"...that's why you voted for obama..."

Wrong. I voted for McCain in the last election. The GOP's hard turn to the right has convinced me that it's interest lies with the accumulation of power and the American people are not a concern for them except at election time. The rest of your dishonest ravings are equally wrong, but your blithering rant stands as a shrill endorsement for the right wing lunatic fringe's failed ideology.

President Obama will win in November. Read 'em and weep.

BTW, my apologies for assuming that you voted for obama, I guess your insipid remarks fooled me - so you must have , at some point in your life had a small amount of intelligence. Good for you.

Actually, I don't have a problem with him being, black, democrat or middle left....I have a problem with his lying, quoting people out of context, his outright pandering, his lies - oh I already said that, his being a fraud and a phony.....his unconstitutional actions and his total disregard for peoples intelligence, period. He scares me too much for me to ever trust him, his contempt for the will of the majority of the people, injecting it with his own anti-American agenda. From his very first action of travelling to the middle east, bowing to those totalitarian leaders and telling them that America has acted very bad for years, if anything it has been leaders like him who have acted badly not the American citizen - I don't need that guy to speak for me on that issue. The America people have always been the very first to respond to any country in the world in times of their tragedies - we have the best and most compassionate people in the world! He is no great leader - he's an American tragedy and a world embarrassment to this country! AND, he will sell this (our) America down the river and destroy our constitution just to accomplish his narcissistic agenda. Of course, this is just my opinion but you are weclome to it - and to make it yours, too, on election day this Nov.

Gay rights activists Zoe Strauss and Matty Hart of the group Solutions for Progress posted the images of themselves giving a painting of Gipper the middle finger. Hart added the admonishment "F[***] Reagan." "

Isn't it nice that Obama invites such well behaved people to the White House as his guests?

Senate has to debate it first before they can vote to pass it. The motion for debate failed 55-41. Sixty votes were required, so they were 5 votes short."

That doesn't change the point, because if the 5 Democrats had voted for cloture, then the 'Dream Act' could have passed with a simple majority, so it was indeed Democrats that could have passed the bill, but failed to do so. There is no filibuster on the actual voting on a bill - just a simple majority is sufficient to pass.

I totally agree with everything you said. Obama is not a good President in my opinion. I just wish he would honor his word and step down, cause he CLEARLY did'nt move ANYTHING in the green on his 1st term. Here's the thing that people need to realize, if you think he was bold and arrogant during his first term, well wait till the next one if he's elected. I have never seen a man that pits everyone against each other, yet so many people carry hope for him. I pray that the "CITIZENS" of America" see through Obama's "TRANSPARENCY" and send him packing. This country can't afford for him to be re-elected. Please VOTE for real AMERICAN CHANGE in November.

Thank you for clearing that up--again!

                      Where's Waldo

...If you want to reform anything, reform the Fourteenth Amendment AND REQUIRE THAT ONE OF THE PARENTS BE AN AMERICAN CITIZEN BEFORE ANY KIDS ARE GRANTED CITIZENSHIP! NO MORE AUTOMATIC "I WAS BORN HERE" CITIZENSHIP WHEN BOTH PARENTS ARE NON-U.S. CITIZENS!

Actually I agree. But then do us all a favor and stop with the hypocrisy about the Constitution being carved in stone.

                      clb-462357

Five Democrats voted against the bill: Sens. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Jon Tester (D-Mt.), Max Baucus (D-Mt.) and Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), who switched her vote to a "no" at the last minute. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) skipped Saturday's votes for a Christmas party. (yep those xmas parties are far more important)

True too, but why target five Blue Dog moderates -- why not five more Republicans?

Is that what a leader does is sit back and wait for someone else to lead because "his door is open"??? OBAMA is the one that needs to reach across the aisle!! But he won't because he's divisive and more concerned about blaming and creating wars on everything from religion to race. What an insolent, pompous ass this president is. He needs to go.

Frank the only way change could have come is if the change came in spite of congress. If Obama made a mistake it was to have faith on the oppostion party that they would put country first instead of politics . History bears this out in a crisis most Congresses over the last 60 to 70 years did just that but not this congress the haves dont care about the have nots . when the democrats had the majority in both houses things were moving now nothing

There is a family pleading for answers and he is hiding behind Executive Privilege. What would you be saying if this was your son? I was never a fan of George Bush and I have stated that many times. I was also extremely critical of George Bush for the cover-up regarding Pat Tillman. The Terry family deserves answers and the American people deserves answers.

The government already gives out permanent work permits to more than a million legal immigrants every year -- four times higher than the traditional average -- while 20 million Americans who want a full-time job can't find one.

Struggling Americans need immigration to be reduced, not to grow.

Our Congress hasn't pass another Amnesty because THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA SPOKE, THEY DON'T WANT IT.

At what point do you understand that you gave the rights of the american workers away to other countried by dissolving the american workers rights?! Disincent american corporations from moving overseas where the labor is cheaper, and they can hide their income. DUH!

It should have read guns. The point is there. You are saying that the weapon and where it came from killed that agent. Nice double standard. He would have been killed regardless of where they got the weapon.

Actually the mere presence of illegal aliens LOWERS the market value of all jobs across the board.

Illegal aliens = a market drop in value of all labor.

That's why pay is lower. Too many illegal aliens.

This appears to be an unconstitutional fiat that not only usurps congressional authority.

This is a knee-jerk response to pro-amnesty interest groups that have attacked Mr. Obama with an intense, well-funded public relations campaign urging him essentially to nullify congressional immigration laws because supporters of amnesty know that the elected representatives of the American people won't approve amnesties any more.

                        It's MORE POOR JUDGEMENT.

The People don't want another mass-amnesty.

Once again, President Obama is misleading the Immigrants who came to this country without seeking Citizenship Legally.

If the Immigration Reform Act goes through, Congress will not be able to vote for it until after the November Election of 2012.

What if Romney wins this Election?. He will get Congress to "Repeal" it, and then it is back to "Square One" for the illegal Immigrants who have such hope, and do not understand how Congress works.

Obama is a Master Politician. Promises, promises. All peoples who come to this Country must get Citizenship the Legal Way, taking years to be interviewed and Security Background Checks done on them thru ICE---

Romney back to square one?..............that's is funny, he has no plan other than supporting the Ryan Plan and his statement "corprations are people." So what have we learned from Romney? He wants to destroy Social Security, Medicare, and replace the Post Office all with his rich friends corporations so they can make a bigger profit after they raise prices on everything and give worse service or none. Ryan plan gives Romney ove $700,000 tax break while you get a 20% hike and pay the taxes the rich would have been paying but won't. Cuts to food stamps and programs for the midlle class while paying for the 1% tax breaks. Why does he not have a plan for jobs? Because he is a job killer and his past work shows it. Repubs need to be investigated for tryingf to kill the economy so they can regain the whitehouse.

gene, employers are sitting on over $2 TRILLION in cash reserves. They are the ones who need to create the jobs. Republicans could have also voted to pass any of the number of job creating bills that were proposed last year. How are Republicans honestly concerned about jobs when they have done nothing to support the creating any?

Obama is just trying to get votes people. First the gay marriage and now this. Both are absolutely ridiculous if you ask me. He always said he was a Christian then all of a sudden he says gay marriage is ok.

But voters are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The choices are horrible either way. But right now, I'd say get Obama OUT of office.

Chris, regarding your last comment: it takes three parties to be involved to get any of these bills passed. It takes the House of Representatives and the Senate agreeing to it, and the President to sign it. If any one of the three creates a problem, (as Senator Reid still does, by refusing to bring any HR bills, he doesn't like, especially if from the Republican controlled house, to the senate floor,) it will go nowhere. Congressman Boehner is not the only stumbling block in this process. All three parts are the problem. They are ALL the problem, playing partisan politics, instead of doing what we, the taxpayers of this country, are paying them to do. Their self interests have taken over where their responsibility to US should be.

LMAO at your post regarding corporations sitting on $2 trillion cash, instead of spending it all.

We have already found out where reckless spending has gotten us. In case you are just ignorant, politicians have always looked at a pile of cash as something to spend, spend, spend as a ways to garner future votes. Yes, that includes tax cuts as well. Guess what, we had to raise our debt ceiling last year and we have to raise it again this year as well, not by billions but by trillions.

So now you want the private sector to wantonly spend their cash on jobs that can't be supported by demand?

BTW - those businesses got those reserves by doing what government refuses to do. They control their spending and they maintain their brand. If they didn't they will be gone. Then what, have the government step in to save their jobs?

LOL chris why not ask senate leader reid what happened to all those house passed bills that he tabled without debate? Seems that obama and company doesn't want to say anything about them now do they?

Bull@!$%#. Gas is expected to go down a lot by autumn (down to $3.00 a gallon at most); cap and trade was a REPUBLICAN idea to "protect" the free market (sponsored by McCain), Obamacare was ANOTHER free market Republican idea, coal fired plants are highly dirty and are helping cause global warming (call me a tree-hugger all you want, it doesn't change anything), and the Bush tax cuts were SUPPOSED to be a temporary tax cut. I say repeal them for everybody, but the wealthy should take much of the burden. The businesses are just fooling you; either they are waiting for a corporate shill to become President, they are trying to sabotage the president to get that shill in office, or they just want to hold on to their power. We wouldn't even HAVE to be talking about the reserves if the government were able to pass bills creating millions of jobs, like the stalled transportation bill or Obama's Jobs Act. Screw you Republitards for betraying this country.

SOOOOO...fine your kingpin, investigate, why is he not fined or waterboarded.........Why not? Because he is two faced and flip flopped.

Romney has a long term plan alright...and that plan is not to have a plan, and to not talk about his plan of not having a plan, because every plan that Romney planned, was not the plan, that he previously had planned. The plans he did have were also the plans he did not have before he said they are his plans. The plans he didn't have were the plans he said he had when he needed to have plans because he had no plans.

Prresident Obama/Biden 2012....you can plan on that!

Nothing Pres. Obama has proposed, has come to fruition in almost 4 years.

He talks big, but then nothing happens. "Summits" are popular with him, then no one ever hears the results. Job Creation Summit, Beer Summit, Economy Summit, and Summit after Summit. Are the American people better off today? It is more like the Great Depression, up and down.

Obamacare may be a thing of the past when the Justices of the Supreme Court announce their Verdict next week. He has no respect for the Supreme Court Justices---that is obvious.

June has been a bad month for Obama---he's got to turn it around in 4 1/2 months.

Can he do it? Where is VP Biden to advise?

Well since you rt wingers want justice on illegals, some say go after the employers of illegals, fine them, jail them etc. So the leader you choose to represent you for the president was caught hiring illegals!

ROMNEY CAUGHT>>>HIRING ILLEGALS> so when is Issa going to investigate Romney? This crook should be...(insert everything you said about President Obama here) and also should be waterboarded, (favorite tool of Cheney).

Romney hires Illegals and I guess that shows what the real moral fiber of rt wingers really is. The real god of the republican part....GREED!

One thing I can NEVER understand is why ANYBODY in office would even suggest doing anything to accommodate people that has performed and illegal act ! If I do anything illegal, my neck will be on the chopping block. If millions do anything illegal, they get special consideration from the president and other politicians as well to bend the law to make it more pleasant for them. Am I missing something here. There are immigration laws on the books, just enforce them!!! Why is it so hard ???????????

Willing Sniper - I am sorry but I cannot agree with you. What I think we do agree upon is that our borders need to be secure stopping future illegal entry to the US. I wish this President could see at least that much.

It is unfortunate there are currently so many illegals inside our borders but what is done is done. All those already in the US should not be deported. These are human beings just like us and we need to recognize that. I agree those that are acting ciminally and those that have no intention to join the American melting pot should be removed. But millions of illegals are people just like us, hard working, honest, family oriented, and willing to join the American stew. We should find a path for them to join us as fellow Americans. Unfortuately, I have no faith this President is capable of helping us reach that dream. If he could govern, there would already be immigration reform in place.

And if some of the currently illegals are allowed to join us, they will not destroy the middle class but help builder it stronger.

If you want to look to what is destroying the middle class, look at the many issues that have encouraged the goods and services we consume to be produced outside the borders of the US and then shipped back to us.

The system punishes immigrants who play by the rules and drives away entrepreneurs who can get an education in America but cannot stay here legally, he said.

No. The system punishes, as it should, those who are here ILLEGALLY! Illegal is illegal, it's as simple as that. I'm also tired of being expected to learn Spanish for them, I certainly don't move to another country and expect them to learn English for me. Why should those who are here illegally receive an overdue sense of hope? Those who are here and are citizens of the US should be catching a glimpse of that instead, now all we are seeing are a group of people not paying taxes and our government protecting those who don't abide by the law.

By saying "I wish he could" sounds like he isn't to sure he wants to. Say "I hope he gets". Sounds more positive. But great comment otherwise.

Obama is a serial liar who has no clue as to what he is doing...All he has done with this Immigration move, is make things more confusing for people by creating a lot of smoke and no solution. His own majority in the Senate in 2009, rejected the Dream Act, yet Obama wants everyone to think the GOP was responsible. As long as you have someone who uses those types of tactics, this country will suffer.

Obama is the opposite of everything you said. He is arrogant, ignorant, misguided, and single minded. His lack of sincereity shows by his consatnat contradiction of things he has said in the past. In addition to being two faced, his lack of morals and love for this country are apparent. Obama is a fake and a phony. It's hard even for those who have learned about his real past, to try and discern between what is made up and what is truth...To think that their is a Marxist drug smoking, cocaine sniffing person living in the symbol of this countries power is enough to keep me awake at night!

He's got all he needs to run government with lots of respect from other country in the world. I look good in the eyes of others because of him. He thinks about everybody cleaning mess that history of our country left for him with running our government before him. Stupid people don't see it that way and its a shame...but again can't expect that from narrow minded people. After all we not the only one that occupy this planet...we got bunch of neighbors and for that matter must live in peace like a good neighbors do.

The mere presence of illegal aliens LOWERS the market value of all jobs across the board.

Illegal aliens = a market drop in value of all labor.

That's why pay is lower. Too many illegal aliens

I think it is funny how every election when one party wins over the other the people in the losing party doesn't want to back the president. This year if Obama wins again the Republican leadership and the rank and file will do everything they can to fight his every move again in a second term. And if Romney wins the same thing will happen with the Democrats. But this time the evangelical Christian Republicans will be leary of him because he is Mormon as they did with Obama because they think he is a Muslim. Think about it.

Actually, you've put your finger on one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) problem in our system. It's all about parties now, not what's best for the country. I'm not a real big Obama fan, but if tomorrow he announced a cure for cancer, the other side would want to know why he didn't announce it last week. And as you said, if Romney wins, the same thing would happen. Maybe it's time to find an alternative to this Republican/Democrat bull@!$%#.

The SECOND biggest problem with our system is that it allows a blowhard buffoon like Trump to be taken seriously by anyone at all.

Mr. Obama is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. He was elected by a majority and the office, if not the man, deserves respect. I don't care for him or trust him, and will do all I can to see him defeated in November. But calling him a piece of @!$%# is totally uncalled for. For Christ's sake, can't we disagree respectfully? rfrisch, I wonder how many republicans supported Obama in the 2008 election and how many were part of the 70% approval rating he had at the start of his one and only term in office? Are they the same republicans who now say that this administration has failed to deliver and are now working hard to correct the wrongs implemented not by law but by fiat? There is a major reason for the drop in approval rating, and it all has to do with the Oval Office and the policies that come from this Administration.

Yes, there are a number of people working to defeat the President in this election...many of them are blue dog democrats who have seen their party hijacked by a group of progressives who do not represent the fundamentals of the democrat party...

You are absolutely right. For Obama to lie and let it stand over and over and over is immoral, so is taking other people's money to let them have a job and using it to gain power and get more people's money. Oh, wait that is what the new Union mantra is.

And PS, Obama hits a nerve every time he tries to put himself above the law and shove things down the throats of true Americans. That is why in January 2013 we will see the end of an error.

Assume people find it in their hearts to understand that the children of illegal immigrants are not at fault and figure out that these kids have maybe made something of themselves, gotten an education and can or have become taxpaying productive citizens. Now what happens when mommy and daddy who are still illegal apply for legal residency because their kid got a waiver? I haven't heard anything that would prevent that. If there's no such exclusion, then the floodgates will open.

Calling then undocumented is not what they are. They are criminals- plain and simple. What do you think other countries would do if this was happening to their country? Lets face it. We are letting these people walk all over us. America needs to grow a pair and start taking care of our own - our own is people born here, Naturalized citizens and legal immigrants.

uaw - sorry but you are also wrong. Anyone that says the other side lies, and their side does not, is delusional.

I am not trying to pick on the left any more than the right, but uaw go read my posts above asking Theresa how the 40 Senate Republicans were able to cast 45 votes against Obama's immigration reform.

The sad fact is this President is not getting things done. He could have completed immigration reform long ago, but now he will fight for it??? I don't need anyone to fight, I need someone that can figure a way to govern. To hear Obama speak, unless we vote out all the Republicans this coming November he cannot govern because they apparently can stop everything.

Does anyone on this site not think there will be a lot of Republicans elected this November. If you think there will be few if any Republicans elected, you could be correct, but history indicates you are not rational.

Maybe we need to start voting all incumbents out of office until we find some people that can govern instead of simply talk.

I guess I should crawl way out on a limb. In my opinion, we need people that respect and accept both the right and the left have significant political followings in this country. Election rhetoric is tolerable. But once elected, leaders should accept neither ideology can prevail as the sole path to governance (unless we want to live in a dictatorship). That dictatorship probably sounds good to a lot of the posters on here, until they contemplate what that means if the other side is the one sitting in the dictator's seat. Scary eh?

So it is time to elect leaders capable of compromise, taking the best from both sides and governing in a fashion we all can live with. And sadly President Obama does not appear to be capable of that. As bad as the Republicans may have behaved, it was President Obama who promised in 2008 that he had a plan to govern. He failed to do so way to often, and immigration reform is a perfect example. It was available for three plus years to do (and especially available during the first two years), and he did little until his re-election became questionable.

Somewhere, I completely agree. Whatever you may think of Obama's policies, the fact is; he has been a failure as a leader. He hasn't been able to get the Republicans to work with him in the slightest. He was supposed to be a uniter, not a divider; but the exact opposite has proven to be true. If he is reelected we will see four more years of the same dysfunctional government.

John In Battlecreek.....let me verify your statement per republican Alan Simpson comment.

One of Obama's best speeches- Passion, punch and detailed. Romney won't discuss specifics because, like the GOP/Ryan Budget, that would show how unworkable his positions are and lead to unpopularity. So he stays with the vague platitudes which also keeps him from having to explain his dual positions on most topics.

I remember when Obama was campaigning 4 years ago he said (my quote might be off a tad):

This appears to be an unconstitutional fiat that not only usurps congressional authority.

This is a knee-jerk response to pro-amnesty interest groups that have attacked Mr. Obama with an intense, well-funded public relations campaign urging him essentially to nullify congressional immigration laws because supporters of amnesty know that the elected representatives of the American people won't approve amnesties any more.

                                        It's POOR JUDGEMENT.

Roger - you are absolutely correct about Romney, he is vague. However he has not been POTUS yet, so he is about as vague as Obama was in 2008.

The elephant in the room is that President Obama has been POTUS for going on 4 years and he has not delivered. Immigration is the perfect example. It was available to address for his entire term.

All he had to do was appease the entire Democrat caucus in the Senate during his first year and immigration reform would have been a done deal. Now spin how someone else is to blame for that failure.

What about the senior citizens who live in fear of losing the Social Security they worked so hard all their life to pay in to? Illegal immigrants are here illegally, which by definition makes them criminals, quit coddling them and catering to them!

Romney could care less about Social Security, he could care less about homeless veterans. Mitt Romney is running for president but he can't tell anyone what he is going to do, because he knows that when people find out, they won't vote for him.

Children who came here illegally had no choice! The executive order is a good one! Health care was a good idea to get done when it got done, especially since it won't fully go into effect for a couple more years. Obama did the auto stimulus, which worked! If his jobs bills wouldn't have been voted on party lines, we would be well on our way to 2 million more jobs in the economy.

Republicans have brought no significant bills to the floor. Obama's and Democrats bills have been filibustered a record number of times, even in the 1st 2 years they didn't have complete control...people...open your eyes, do your research!

He doesn't give a damn about any of us as does any politician in either party. The only thing a Romney presidency would do is save us from a lame duck president who would have nothing to lose in his second term. The republicans were completely shut out of the debate on Obamacare. All suggestions and amendments that were proposed by the republicans were rejected or never even brought to the floor by Harry Reid. Seems you are the one that needs to do your research. Of course when the Democrats weren't the majority they cried for bipartisanship. That is a two way street.

Just admit it you coward, Democrats have become so repulsive, unethical, immoral, and treasonous that the only "hope" they have for survival is to sell America to foreign criminals.

                                        Impeach Obama.

So Flip Flop Romney said he would let the auto industry fail, then Romney finds out President Obama saved the auto industry...then Flip Flop Romney flip flops and says he saved the auto industry...HHHHMMMM? So Mittster says the industry was saved by him and he needs to take credit. So either you or Romney is lying.....

' "The system punishes immigrants who play by the rules and drives away entrepreneurs who can get an education in America but cannot stay here legally," he said.' umm, if they were 'playing by the rules' they wouldn't be here illegally! What about us? The ones that are busting our humps daily just to survive and trying to make our families lives better; why doesn't he start looking at helping actual Americans and stop helping ILLEGAL immigration. I'm all for you coming to America to better your life!! Just do it the right way and mabye people wouldn't have such a hard time with you being here!!

Megan, Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any other president in our history! He has put more agents on the border than any time in history. What more do you want? He has stopped sending our troops into stupid battles and wars that cost our troops lives. Obama has made post war care for our troops easier to receive. If you say no to this, you are not doing your research. Troops fighting for our country can now fight for everyone they love, not just the straight people.

I believe that Mitt Romney does not have a real plan for making this country better. I haven't seen him do anything but avoid giving real answers, and tell lies and half truths. I get sick listening to him sometimes, because he knows that some people are always going to believe the lies.

I have a sense of appreciation after seeing so many post that point to the fact that people know what a disaster the past three and a half years have been for this country. This is what happens when you elect a community organizer as POTUS. We are the laughing stock of the world right now and can only raise in the eyes of the world after this one term president leaves office. With all that is going on with Eric Holder and the over spending due to no budget for over three years because the Dems. decided NOT TO PASS ONE out of the Senate, when will it ever end?

AF ONE needs a break that is for sure. I don't think that plane has ever been used so much in such a short period of time ever!

Go home Mr. President and pray that a better man than you can put this country back on track.

They were 16 or younger when they came to the country...come on, get real. It is a 2 year window for these people, not citizenship. The Republicans originally supported the Dream Act! They helped create it, but would not vote for it because they believe they should be back in office to fix the problem that they (Republicans) themselves created.

Mitt Romney has no backbone, he will make this country a laughing stock in the Global community. Obama has proved time and time again that he has the best interests of the american people, as a hole, in mind.

Obama/Biden and the Democrats 2012. A divided congress is not an option if we want to get this country up and running again.

I'm all for bettering their lives but do it BY THE BOOK.

Bottom line is if I immigrated to Germany I'd do it legally AND (shock!!) I'd learn German. I'm sick sick SICK of having to communicate in broken English with these people.

Well, you can't stop spending when you are in a recession, you have to create jobs. The rich aren't doing it, and they are still under the Bush tax cuts. Under higher taxes more jobs are created. Look throughout our history...government has always created jobs. Government workers in general don't make much money, now elected officials many times do. Everyone forgets that we went to war under Bush...with no strategy, generals have agreed with this. Bush made tax cuts, which forced us to borrow money from China. Obama put these wars on the books, which shot up the deficit. I could go on and on forever, but I won't because it isn't like Republicans are going to listen to the truth! They are going to agree with how they have been doing things because they want to believe that their Republican party is still honorable, and to anyone with their eyes open, the Republican party in general has lost it's way and is a split party.

Wrong, the Government does not create jobs! Government has no money, so how can they hire anyone? They either borrow, look where that has gotten us, or they tax citizens. If you tax the public to take money out of the economy then hire someone to a government job, how does that create anything. The government does not produce any goods to sell and make a profit, so how does this "make believe" job help? All it does is transfer money from private sector workers to create a public sector job. Doesn't work long term. Don't believe liberal hype about creating jobs. You create jobs by fair taxation and an environment where all business can compete "fairly." Sadly, the government has failed here also.

I got pretty screwed on that one the first year because I couldn't get my W4 changed soon enough.

sharriannie........if repubs like Santorum get in office there won't be any shoving down throats as birth control is outlawed and premarital sex is also outlawed by repubs.

Romney supports Ryan plan which raises debt by over 7 trillion instead of reducing it. Romney gets $700,000 tax break while YOU get 20% increase........In other words...the rich get richer while you pay the taxes the rich tell you to pay.

Democrats would give rapists "hope" if it got their votes. Personal power above all else. Sickening.

3 years ago he addressed the same convention with the same message but has been unable to get the Republicans to bring a bill to the floor

Democrats were in control of both congress. Why did they not bring to the floor? Election was over. Obama and the Democrats never had any intention of keeping the campaign promise only to get the Latino vote.

Democrats did bring the amnesty bill to the floor and it passed the house when the Democrats had the majority. Then the bill got to the senate and the repubs filibustered it to death. answer your question? Oh and btw , look at the polls for Latinos for Obama as of today. Waaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of Romney

With this type of mayhem on hand, I'm getting closer and closer to campaigning and voting for Gov. Romney this coming November. The Presidency is not all about special interest groups such as the latinos. It seems like the President has already made himself content with "the private sector economy has been doing well,"unfortunate for his Latinos, they are not so inclined to working a bit harder to legalize their statuses here in the USA, but they surely would like an exemption from the law as the current one is not working for them...but it surely works for the local Americans. The present administration prefers foreigners to Americans for one simple fact--THE VOTES from foreigners.
