Republicans moved quickly on Thursday in hopes of distancing themselves from a strategy being weighed by a GOP-oriented super PAC, which threatened to inject racial politics into the 2012 presidential campaign.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says he "repudiates" a PAC plan to attack President Obama's link to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, while saying he's disappointed in the Obama campaign's "character assassination" of him.
Mitt Romney’s campaign, joined by a slew of other GOP heavyweights, sought to disavow a strategy that was presented to Joe Ricketts -- the owner of the Chicago Cubs -- that would call for using a super PAC to launch aggressive attack ads against President Barack Obama. The plan, first reported by the New York Times, called for explicitly linking Obama to a former spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose occasionally angry sermons touched on themes of race.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney speaks to reporters while boarding a charter flight May 17 in Miami, Fla.
"I repudiate the effort by that PAC to promote an ad strategy of the nature they've described," Romney told the conservative blog Townhall.
An earlier statement by Matt Rhoades, Romney’s campaign manager, said the campaign would repudiate strategies that rely on personal attacks, though Rhoades made no specific reference toward Ricketts. During a gaggle this morning aboard his campaign plane, Romney told reporters that he hadn't seen the story.
The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd talks about a New York Times report, which suggests that a Republican Super PAC is considering a proposal to launch TV ads tying President Barack Obama to Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Also to Townhall, Romney expressed frustration that no attention is being paid to what he considers a negative campaign by Team Obama.
"It's interesting that we're talking about some Republican PAC that wants to go after the president [on Wright]," he said. "I hope people also are looking at what he's doing, and saying 'why is he running an attack campaign? Why isn't he talking about his record?'"
NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro discuss the day's top political news including the possibility that republicans may use President Obama's former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, in ads attacking the president.
First Thoughts: When Willie Horton meets Jeremiah Wright
Romney has only one public campaign appearance today, where he could further address the controversy, but faced immediate blowback from the Obama campaign.
Jim Messina, the manager of the Obama re-election effort, said the report "reflects how far the party has drifted in four short years since John McCain rejected these very tactics," referring to the decision made in the 2008 Republican nominee's high command against attacking Obama along those lines.
"Once again, Gov. Romney has fallen short of the standard that John McCain set, reacting tepidly in a moment that required moral leadership in standing up to the very extreme wing of his own party,” Messina said.
Steve Schmidt, a top aide to McCain’s presidential campaign, said that he was never prouder than when his candidate rejected the tactic. Invoking Wright wasn’t just the wrong thing to do, Schmidt said; it was the wrong strategy.
"Putting aside that this is the totally wrong thing to do for the country, using race as a political wedge releases a poison into the body politic, and it's totally unpredictable how it plays out," he said.
Mark McKinnon, a former aide to President George W. Bush, added of the proposed strategy: "Exhibit A of what is wrong with our politics today."
Romney campaign repudiates -- but punches back, too
The McCain campaign faced pressure to invoke Wright from some of Obama's most vociferous opponents on the right. Reports at the time indicated that, in particular, then-vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was particularly interested in linking Wright to Obama, who had been forced to address his ties to the controversial pastor during his primary fight against Hillary Clinton.
A spokesman for McCain said Thursday in a statement that the senator stands by his decision at that time.
"Senator McCain is very proud of the campaign he ran in 2008," said Brian Rogers, a spokesman for the Arizona senator. "He stands by the decisions he made during that race and would make them again today if he had it to do over."
Beyond the McCain campaign's judgment that making such an attack -- which would necessarily invoke race into the campaign against America's first black president -- it was judged to be bad politics.
"Would this have been a politically expedient thing for John McCain? No! Everybody knew who Jeremiah Wright was, and people who were deeply troubled by it were not Barack Obama voters," Schmidt said. "It would have been an utterly ineffective political attack."
The quick Republican backlash, though, reflects the extent to which the Obama campaign might gain traction from even the trial balloon associated with the rumored attack. It might mobilize voters, especially African-Americans, who Obama needs to help fuel his re-election, and could boost fundraising from angry supporters.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., even expressed a degree of amusement at the reported attack emanating from Ricketts, who most recently made a splash in politics by spending late in a Nebraska Senate primary on behalf of Deb Fischer, who eventually won.
"I hope they're as successful with this campaign as the Cubs are in baseball," Pelosi said on Capitol Hill, referring to the team's abysmal record.
Her counterpart, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, opted against condemning or even acknowledging the line of attack during his press conference, telling NBC News that "this election is going to be about the economy."
More broadly, the firestorm that erupted Thursday served as a testament to the outsize importance of super PACs in the 2012 campaign.
The Romney campaign had hoped to push a message about its relative fundraising prowess in April after releasing its figures to reporters early this morning. A new poll yesterday had also showed the former Massachusetts governor in a tie against Obama in Wisconsin, suggesting a narrowing battle for the White House.
"This is a function of the brokenness of the campaign finance system," Schmidt said. "One person's bad judgment -- Ricketts' -- has the potential to consume the dialog in the presidential campaign."
NBC’s Chuck Todd, Peter Alexander and Garrett Haake contributed to this report.

The GOP is completely racially unbiased................................
As long as you are cacausian.
You mean GOP personages are admitting that something is going On?
Not like Romney who says he "doesn't know" about all the super-packing on his behalf,
And heck, he won't be knowing a lot of things as he won't be wearing his eye glasses - not till November.
Do these idiots remember the old saying about when you play with fire - you get BURNED?
Best line of the day Nancy! lmao
I hope it's another hundred years before the Cub's win a World Series with this jerk-off in charge!
If memory serves me right, after purchasing the Cubbies, Mr. Rickett tried to strong arm the City of Chicago for funds to renovate Wrigley Field!
Screw him! If he has money for this kind of crap, let him pay for it out of his OWN pockets!
Backhouse -
As I recall, during one of the primary debates, Romney claimed that he hadn't seen any of the negative ads his Super PAC was running against Newt Gingrich, either - that is, until about 30 seconds later, when he went on to say that "In the ones I've seen.....".
But let's give him the benefit of the doubt here. If he hasn't come out by the end of the day with a "cease and desist" order about these types of ads, though, then I think we'll have to assume that he has no problem with them.
You want to lead the country, Mr. Romney? Start by leading your own campaign.
How do you spell Republicans---D E S P E R A T E.
This strategy will clearly backfire on the GOP/TP.
Mitt Romney breathes out lies like there's no Tomorrow. You know it!
Says he "doesn't remember" hacking off a man's hair, while his bully gang held him down in front of everyone in the Common Room, is an easy one.
To anyone with an eyeball, Romney displays classic sociopathic behavior,
And that is why the BULLY party will throw lots of money at him. Priority #1, GOP/Koch wants to be able to twist him and use his 'digits' to sign all their nefarious corporate and anti-constitutional stuff, just as Norquist told us.
Ya know this really is the way conservatives do things... It didn't work in 2008 so we need to do it again. (Just like the policies of the previous administration didn't work 2001-2009, so lets go back to them and do it again)..As Yosemite Sam would say..."Conservatives are sooooo stooopid")
Go Romney
The way the dems lie every time they open their mouths, I wouldn't hold back anything against them. President Obama attends the same church for 20 years and it is off limits to talk about the racist preacher? The dems have been calling repubs racist for the past 3 1/2 years and now the repubs can't talk about race? Romney can run any kind of campaign he wants and super Pacs can run whatever they want. We have already seen the lie from the dem super Pac about the steel mill. Did President Obama object to them lying?
Were is the racism..??? Rev Wright is black..ok...But the man is a complete racist himself. He is anti-American to boot.
So linking Obama who spent 20 years in a racist, anti-American church is racist on the part of the Super PAC?
Romney will get the same end result as Hillary if he is to afraid to expose Obama's radical past in fear of being called a racist. But he wont get to be Sec of State.
Obama is the only one who has brought race in to the arena. I am sick of the "PC" games. Call it what it is. 20 years of Wrights sermons, that could influence a person. Obama has done all he can to distance himself and shut Wright up. I do not care for either one of them, but the truth needs to be told. Obama got a free pass on this last time, McCain and the establishment would not dare go after him in fear of being called a racist. It is not racist to call him out on this. Looks like the establishment will cave once again.
Romney has lots of money, he should produce a movie with Obama wearing a "Hoodie" since he said he could have a son like Travon. That will sell some GOP tickets........
Romney is an empty suit and appears to be spiritually dead. He has no shame. What a sad commentary for the GOP. Obama is far from perfect but he is a much better candidate than the religious nut, anti science, lacking in empathy Romney. How could anyone ever trust that guy?
Personally, I hate negative campaigning and I'm glad to see Romney coming out against this ad campaign.
To the anti-Romney people on this board, how much more do you want him to do? Also, did you have the same reaction to Obama staying silent for days/weeks when racist claims were made against the Clinton's in 2008?
"Anxiously discourage"? You going for the Purple Prose award?
You are first in line for the "distraction of the day" award- be happy for that, and leave the flowing language to contestants in the annual Bulwer Lytton contest, okay?
Now-about the economy. . .
So what if President Obama hates white people? I hate white people and I'm one of them!
I'm also middle class. So Romney hates me!
How about adopting an economic platform that doesn't continue thirty years of failed supply-side economics policies, for starters.
MRWSR. - There is a reason they do not want to go there and it is not because they are afraid of exposing the relationship between the President and Wright. Who is not a racist, and, did not scream anti-american speeches at his congregation every time he stood in the pulpit. He is a leader in a black community and at times; they like other churches are angry at what the government or country does. Did not Falwell and others telll us we deserved 911 and Katrina? Is that not anti-American?
Just as Bush and company separate themselves from those kind of statements, so did Obama against Wright. You know damn well that Obama is not racist. If he was do you believe he would have a 61% like-ability factor. Even people who do not support the President like him as a person.
Republican strategists aren't fooling me. We all know they have been fanning the low information voters' racial and religious prejudices since Obama declare his candidacy in 2007. My God, how many clips have we seen of politicians shrugging their shoulders when nutjob voters rail against Obama, calling him a muslim or declaring he was born in Kenya. Donald Trump campaigned on a birther platform, in the 2012 primary, for God's sake! And now Republicans claim to be squeamish about swiftboating the President using Rev.Jerimiah Wright's sermons? Give me a break.
"The plan called for explicitly linking Obama to a former spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose occasionally angry sermons touched on themes of race."
How exactly is stating reality a "plan" or "strategy"? Obama linked himself to Jeremiah Wright by attending his sermons, that is fact, not something "called for by a strategy".
At least the Republicans are not going to resort to the Democrat racial pandering and division strategy, good for them.
If Romney is such a brilliant businessman how come his policies are the exact same as George W. Bush?
I'm definitely not a fan of the typical Republican viewpoint, however to be fair, you can't lump all Republicans in this mess. Many of them clearly want to distance themselves.
With that being said, they can no longer claim its not about Race. Because to some, it clearly is.
Just wondering Joe DeMarco exactly what policies are you talking about because the only one using Bush's policies is Obama. I think you need to look up some facts before making such claims. I don't like Romney but his policies will be a change in course for the country.
JH, a 5 second sound bite doesn't make someone a racist, no matter how frequently it airs on Fox and Friends.
This really speaks to who the base of the Republican party is, that the PAC strategists believe running commercials about an angry black preacher will get them fired up. This is the same strategy that was used in the 30's in Germany - target the undereducated, under-skilled, underemployed (often for the aforementioned two reasons) individuals who can't make it in the current economy (and want to blame someone, anyone other than themselves for their problems), who are driven by fear, and capitalize on their fears and instinctual bigotry (Jews, Blacks, Muslims, Hispanic immigrants, etc...). The far right base of the Rebublican party is the group we have to be afraid of, who will destroy this country much the same we that group destroyed Germany...
If Ricketts goes through with this ad, I am moving my ROTH and SEP IRA somewhere else. I wonder what effect it would have on TD Ameritrade business. I am sure it hasn't gone unnoticed by account holders holding non-extreme views.
How about coming out in full force against the radical raciest elements in your party and be specific about who they are. It is quite clear where Obama stands on the issue of racism in America but it is not so clear where Romney stands..... I suspect he stands quietly in fear of losing those votes.
Rev Wright did not preach his racism until Obama was at the top of the game, then Wright thought he had a point to make on which Obama took positive steps to kill. Second, how can Obama take sides he is equally of each.
Thank you Mr. Romney! Now if Santorum, Blingrich, Bachman, Trump, Palin, or Perry were the nominee, why do I think they would have embraced this racist strategy????
"Putting aside that this is the totally wrong thing to do for the country, using race as a political wedge releases a poison into the body politic, and it's totally unpredictable how it plays out,"
But that won't stop the Obama team from using race as an issue. Who do you think he's referring to with his 'rich' comments - Whites.
Who do you think he's referring to with his 'disadvantaged' comments - People of color.
It's subtle, but still racist.
Obama has been the most racially divided President in the history of this Nation. There is more division caused at his statements from the Bully Pulpit of the Presidency then ever before. I grew up during the Civil Rights movement. One thing I know is if Martin Luther King Jr. where alive today he would die of a heart attack at the state of our Union today. Obama promised change and that he was going to be the President to all Americans. Guess what? He has not been the President to all Americans unless you have deep pockets and are from Hollywood. So yeah if your from one of those spheres of influence then your an American that he represents. So when Obama was addressing the all crowd of African Americans in Calif. where he kept saying " I need Your Help to do what I need to do!" These weren't racially charged. I can say this there are more racial tensions today then ever before. Obama wants to use them to divide this Nation not Unite it. The Great Divider Obama.
Yea, let's completely disregard the Ryan plan and Romney's endorsement of it.
I sincerely hope that post was satirical.
So Romney strongly condemns the strategy, but Obama still tries to make points by claiming it's Romney's strategy.
How convenient.
How many articles has MSNBC posted about how Democrats are "targeting Hispanics" and lead in the "Hispanic vote"?
... but that is not racist at all is it? (sarcasm)
" Wright has OCCASIONALY angry sermons..." ???? WTF? LMAO! Have you ever seen one of his that wasn't? This is the guy who say's "$^&% america". Barry went to his church for years...nuff said. You are never going to convince his followers of anything, so let's just hope America can withstand another four years of this clown. If there is anything left of our economy and constitution when he is done, then hopefully we can start to rebuild. We brought the country back after Carter, we should be able to do it after Barry.
A strategy that is MENTIONED not even implemented is a news story? Wow, how big of suckers are we who read this junk? I'm sure there will be a story tomorrow about something someone who supports Obama said and how everyone said no. Right? NBC isn't biased, after all they got the story from the NYT's. LOL
Tell me how does it demean that race of people? Advertising companies, for example, have target demographics for their products all the time.
Saying demographics exist is not racist. Saying or implying one demographic is superior / inferior is.
Why are Democrats threatening a race war on Republicans?
(Do you see where this is going, conservatives, or are you just too dim?)
We all know he went to that fag rev wrights sermons that news is old and dried up get me somthing juicy
You guys at MSNBC must be super dizzy for all the spin that goes on in your world. Why don't you report the true about all 3 candidates. RON PAUL who is honest as the day is long and never wavers and actually is the only one who has a plan to get the US back on track. Mitt Romney ( mister flipflopper )who goes whatever way the wind blows and is for bigger government. Or Barry Obama who it is still pertty convincing that he is not even elgible to be the President. Never has presented all his college transcripts, Applied for a student visa for college, The list goes on and on. Go sheriff JOE, keep up the good work.
NOTE TO REPUBLICANS: You've already tried this strategy. It didn't work.
What next? Obama was born in Kenya?

Have you forgotten that the president is rich, as well black or do you think his 'rich' comments -Whites. only referrs to his mothers side of the family. remember she was white.
dumb comment.
We need to give both Obama & Romney the boot. Neither one is worth a hill of beans. If this is the best we can do there is not much hope. The Congress and the Senate could also use a good flushing. Unfortunately the septic system won't handle it.
It’s interesting how the biased, left-wing news media gets to define everything. For example, President Obama is half white and half black, yet he is considered black, while the same news media considers Hispanic George Zimmerman, who is also only half white, to be white.
Or the Democrat Party, with its long history of support for segregation (one of its former esteemed leaders, Senator Robert Byrd, was even a recruiter and Exalted Cyclops for his local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan), is allegedly the protector of civil rights, while the Republican Party (the Party of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr.) is painted as the Party of intolerance.
The truth is that the Democrat Party is the Party of the four S’s: slavery, secession, segregation, and now socialism. History AND current events document my point.

First of all lincoln was a republican and King was a democrat.
i learned in print shop that when you mix black ink with white ink, the ink turns black. if you look at the man you see a black man, if he is driving in a upper class white hood and the police stop him its because they see a black man.
once again dumb comment.
ok in all fairness lets leave Race out of it. But hey if we can attack Obama's Religion and where he attended church, Lets do the same for the republican candidate.
Since Obama clearly went to this guys church. The whole Muslim thing has to be tossed. Darn he is a christian. And Romney is WHAT? An LDS member. He answers to them First. And I personally do not want the Mormon church ruling the Military. Look up Romney's church and the History of it. Polygamy 10 and 12 year olds into marriage.
Come on its all fair game now http://exposingmormons.com/tag/child-brides/
I agree Go (HOME) Romney....we already have one failed president...at least we can limit it to 4 years, instead of 8!
I'm sure the GOP knows if religion is going to be used, it will be used by the other party too. And there's so much more on a religion that does not recognize the Nicene Creed than on one poorly filmed rant that was the only thing gleaned in over 20 years of sermons at a Baptist church.
easydoesit:
The "other party" will use anything, and I do mean anything, to get the Great Incompetent One reelected. So why hesitate to bring up Rev Wright. I mean only a complete idiot could listen to his ugly rantings and not clearly recognize that he's the biggest racist involved in the whole issue, you know chickens coming home to roost and all of that s**t......oh I forgot...according to liberals, it is impossible for any black to be a racist. Sorry.
I mean, look at the sniveling coward. He hasn't got a spot on that "lily white" shirt.
The spots on his heart, however? That's a WHOLE different story.
If you vote republican you must have an eeny weeny peeny!
We all know he went to that fag rev wrights sermons that news is old and dried up get me somthing juice
You do that, bring it on! You will lose Independents and fire up the DEM base. Run the Ad, teabaggers...you will lose and we will win over it. The GOP platform...hate gays, hate women, use race to enforce the 'scary una, erican black man' theory.
Tell you what, you guys run YOUR ad....and we will run an ad with that Teabagging Preacher that tells his flock to punish and humiliate their kisds if they show gay tendancies....literally beat them for it. Bring it on Tea-Turds. We got plenty of whacked white evangelical church footage too....even the one of reverand and flock going tio soldier funerals and saying 'God Hates fags' and cheering soldier deaths as Gods vengeance for gays in the military.
Go ahead, and be sure to run it in all the states. Beter for the DEm base that you do....and thank you in advance for the boost in voter passion we will get as a result.

Another Republican thug heard from, these people will never learn that this is the 21st century not the 19th and the majority of Americans are repulsed by this type of behavior.
Strange, Jeremiah Wright is racist (not extreme or anything but he does have a preference for the African-American community) just like most people have a preference for their race (part of it is basic instinct). But I find it strange that Republicans are attacked and called racist for pointing out that Barack Obama spent many years in a church that promoted ideas that most Americans would find appalling. Most of what Republicans point out about Jeremiah Wright has nothing to do with his racial preference for African Americans but has to do with his fundamental beliefs, so how is that racist on the part of Republicans?
Glad you brought that up sboon398, becauses America finds the thought of having four Great grandmothers (like Romney) appalling and that is a fundamental belief in this country. Has Romney denounced this idea and spent any time promoting monogamy?
I will nolonger support the cubs until this Reich Wing Fascist is nolonger the owner, I and many more Cub Fans feel betrayed by Ownership
I think that tactic isn't necessarily race based but social services based. I on the other hand realize by cutting social services you will be raising the prices on everything for us poor folks who do work.
There is no doubt our problems are a conundrum and they will not be fixed by a party of any kind. A government by the people for the people. People are the solution not the problem.
Whomever can motivate the people will win this election.
All of these socially provocative issues are not what we need. Our constitution is the foundation of equality the fight belongs in the Courts not a political movement. Party for Party is the problem.
If I must pick a side it is the American People.
I wish people would understand the difference between racism and prejudice. Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. I am a black woman. If you automatically think of a stereotype and believe you are superior to me, only knowing THAT information (my race) about me. You are a racist. I don't fit any stereotype and neither does anyone in my family. I am 25, long hair that I grew directly from my scalp lol, college educated, attractive, size 4, and no kids. So just because you don't necessarily HATE a certain ethnic group, doesn't mean you are not a racist. If you cannot think of yourself as an equal to a black or Hispanic person than you are a racist.
2-Lane..."Tell you what, you guys run YOUR ad....and we will run an ad with that Teabagging Preacher that tells his flock...."
Of course the profound difference is that Obama sat in a church listening to the sermons for 20 years.
So yes, bring on the videos with Romney listening to those Teabagger preachers...if you can find one.
Republicans are nervous because placing ads rehashing the relationship between Obama and Rev Wright would open up the discussion about Romney's ministry (AS AN ADULT) in the Mormon church during its RACIST years when the church refused to recognize non-whites.
I watch and listen to Fox news as Obama watched and listened to Rev Wright - not because I believe in Fox news nor any of their half truths or political spin. I watch and learn so I can understand the mind of the extremists and I can research and integrate their blatant errors and bigoted assertions into a rational discussion.
Watching Fox News doesn't make me a Conservative any more than Listening to Rev. Wright make me a rabble rousing preacher.
If all you read, watch, and listen to are things that confirm you personal beliefs, you are an ignorant person. Try reading things like Mein Kampf, simply to understand that there are other thoughts. It may not be my cup of tea, but I understand the historical, political, and control issues at the time.
And regarding the comments about the "rich" being white, it may be true that they are, but declaring that rich = white is, on your part, most racist. Rich also happens to be Black, Indian, Asian, Greek, and many other amazingly successful ethnic people from non-European countries who you would like to put into the "White" category.
Rhonda. First of all, there is no such thing as a "democrat" party. Using that term only insinuates that you are nothing more than a Karl Rove worshiping turd-blossom in training.
Maybe all that you can do is cut and paste but, giving you the benefit of the doubt, I will assume that you know how to read. You and your klan always fail to mention that the "dixiecrats" fled the Democratic Party to the Republican party during the 60's civil rights battle. This has been explained repeatedly to your fellow klansmen and rather than conclude that you have an IQ under 50 and can not comprehend the facts, I will, again, give you the benefit of the doubt and conclude that you are deliberately distorting the truth. If you can not make a valid point without lying, perhaps you should do a bit of soul-searching.
The late Senator Byrd's story of overcoming very powerful racial prejudices to become a champion of civil rights for all serves as inspiration for normal people. Perhaps you should take his story to your next klan meeting. It is, after all, proof that there will always be hope - even for you, rhonda.
This makes no sense, the republicans already have a lock on the racist redneck FOX watchin vote. Why waste money on ads?
Yep, there sure are a bunch of Liberal losers on this vine today. All they can do is name calling or are in an attack mode on anything.
Sure seems like the same folks in the following video clips:
Yep, and the Democrats have spokes people like Ed Matthews. I wonder why Oprah is distancing herself from the Obamas ? Oh, that is right....she also got thrown under the Obama Bus.
What's the difference between a Republican and a Klan member?
The Republican forgot to cut eye holes in his hood.
I wonder?
When Herman Cain writes his book (and you know he will) - how will he explain the madness which overcame him to run for President, especially after seeing how Teabaggers were treating Michael Steele, in his capacity as the Chairman of Republican National Committee?
Compared to Sarah Palin, even a few democate might have voted for General Colin Powell, if he had been stupid enough, decided to run.
The republickan party has been the official party of racism since the mid 1960s. That's it. It's long since beyond dispute. Why do you think Bag-Of-Pus Gingrich trotted out that "radical Kenyan anti-colonialist" whose mind the average american can't understand bullcrap? He wanted to remind the faithful ex-birchers, ex KKKers, and present day tea partiers (i.e., the republikkkan base) that the big guys in the party were still with them, all the racist way.
The GOP/SuperPac is throwing an enormous amount of money into ads that will try to make every American afraid of things.
This is like the older sibiling trying to scare the younger about the "boogeyman".

You are absolutely correct Beverly.
It's a shame that Hannity/Limbaugh and others are able to spew their racism each and every day.
I find it to be embarrassing that I would be grouped into the same race as either of those people.
All Hannity and Limbaugh can do is exactly what they practice every day. They bombard the listeners with the same hateful messages over and over with the hope that the audience will begin to believe the crap.
Karl Rove taught the repugs that you can tell any lie you want to and just repeat it often enough, you will get a lot of the people to believe it.
Another tragic loss of life today to a great American because of cancer.

Hannity and Limbaugh disgrace the whole human race. They are both illiterate. Hannity has no concept of issues he interviews. Limbaugh memorized the dictionary and has no idea what the words mean.
LOL, On Alex Wagner they just showed a clip of someone try to interview Romney. He walked off. Sarah Palin, Sharon Angle, and now Mitt. Interviewers for them were only Fox exclusives.
Looks like a teabagger move to me from Mittens.

How would that be different than Obama's "O.K. Everything is awful... but it would have been worse if I hadn't wasted $5 trillion dollars" strategy?
Fiesty
Those were some good times!
*toot toot* *beep beep*
Godspeed to you Donna!
That was me. I loved to leave the guys way behind on the disco floor. I'd have my drinks lined up on the bar.
*toot toot* *beep beep*
RIP Donna
Like many men, I am not a great dancer. But I used to enjoy trying to dance when disco was in full swing.
That was me. I loved to leave the guys way behind on the disco floor
Way to go Beverly!
What I also remember are all of the guys (many middle aged or older) who wore an obscene amount of gold necklaces, open shirts to show them off and hair styles that seem outragious now.
Donna Summer was instrumental in the disco movement and she will be missed. Thank you Donna for all of the great memories we will continue to enjoy because of your contributions.
Brian,
You left out porn star mustaches, pinky rings & waaaay to much Brut! lol
That was the great thing about disco - even those who didn't have rhythm could shake their groove thing! ;o)
nomoresame -
How about this?
"The Dems/SuperPac is throwing an enormous amount of money into ads that will try to make every American afraid of things"
Do you people have any kind of memory? This economic mess was handed to this President and he has worked his butt off the save us from a total economic collapse. I almost did not want the democrats to win the election, because I knew you idiot, lying, hateful, name calling bigots would blame Obama. Christ you started blaming him the day after he was elected. All this communist, socialist crap has began to make me sick. None of you seem to know what that really is or what it means.
How about we start calling all of you FACIST NAZI SCUM; they hate socialism too. I would hope there could be some kind of real dialouge on solving the huge mess handed Obama by the FACIST. There are you happy now. We know you are all from the best race just like your FACIST NAZI SCUM heros from Fox, Rush, and, the Drudge Report
This kind of race bating didn't work in 2008 so why would anyone think it will work in 2012?
This is no more than an attempt to show that the GOP is NOT biased. The ad was announced so it could be repudiated, not because it was going to run. This is all just a farce. Just look at all the free publicity.
Are you going to hold Mit Romney accountable for what the leadership of the Mormon church
I do not know how anyone can make this into a negative against Romney. He is saying no to these type of personal attacks, which is more than I can say for Obama. As for not doing more and telling the PACs not to do it, he can no do that, or did the liberals on here conveniently forget that the Campaigns can not coordinate with the PACs. The PACs are independent of the campaign and any indication that the campaign is somehow coordinating with the PACs would mean trouble for the campaign. In reality we all know that there are back channel ways in which they communicate with each other on both the Republican and Democratic sides of this PAC fiasco, however, no candidate is going to publicly tell a PAC what to do or not do. The real point to take away from this is that while Obama is running ads that attack Romney personally and say nothing to address Obama's actual record in office, Romney is standing up publicly and saying no to these types of ads. So who exactly should we be criticizing here?!?! If Obama is so proud of his record let him stop the personal attack ads against Romney and run on that record!!!
Short memories.
Obama inherited a paradise and turned the economy into a sewer, remember?
Cuz Bush was an amazing president who left this economy in GREAT shape...and Obama cut tax rates, started wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, etc.
They're so desperate to be -right- about something, anything, that they try to re-write history to make themselves correct. Otherwise they might have to fess up that Republicanism has been a dismal failure for the last 30 years or so.
Notice I didn't say Conservatism :)
tek, I agree but will add one thing to what you said.
Otherwise they might have to fess up that the Repubs and Dems has been a dismal failure for the last 30 years or so.
Then Hold Obama accountable for what Rev. Wright said???? !!!! Get a grip people.... Learn the truth finding out facts about everything.... left and right!!!
They're not going to use Rev. Wright against Obama, because if they do then they have to admit that Obama IS Christian and NOT Muslim. That just wouldn't be in line with the lies they've spread about him so far.
Nomoresameo:
... and hair styles that seem outragious now.
...And that was just with the CHEST hair!!
Race has no place in the primary, instead we should have people demanding Obama release his academic records, and all records relating to his past. Truth is what we need, not distractions, not deception by omission, and not votes from illegals/dead people.
Donna Summer, leisure suits, and old milwaukee beer. Things dont get any better than this.
From the top down, this is the kind of rational judgment that just makes you want to open an account with TD Ameritrade doesn't it?
Bill AYERS is a Domestic Terrorist and should be doing 30 to life for bombings in the United States.
I guess we know why the Cubs keep loosing... because J.Write worked so well last time.
Idiots
So much hatred out there. Bush this, Obama that. Communist, socialism, wow, those are such hateful words. However, look up the true meaning of both, and you will find the Obama administration. Racist? Rev. Wright preached to Obama for 20 years, according to Obama. Rev. Wight spews hatred against whites. Fact is fact. Okay, so Obama wasn't listening during those comments, again according to Obama. After 20 years of hearing outright hatred spewed against whites, and he didn't hear that at all? It sure says a lot when the POTUS thinks that the mike in front of them has been turned off. "I will have more flexability when I am relected" at which time the response was "I will pass that on to Vladimer" Come on people. As we know, democrats always feel that true facts just get the way of a true lie. I will be the first person on November 7th of this year to write to the White House, attention the President. Ding dong the witch is dead. Now get the hell out of our White House.
This is what is wrong with politics today. Its all about winning no matter what the toll it takes on the country.
The media is also a problem, they run everything today and only care about ratings. Its like a car race, without a wreck it is boring and nobody watches. The best ratings are when wreck happens which is played over and over again, even though the actual race is still going on. Same with politics!
Everyone knew about Wright 4 years ago, and he still got elected.
How many people who voted for Obama four years ago are really going to change their vote based on this information?
Ronnie (kill the students) Raygun = in "secret" negotiations with the IRANIAN Kidnappers,
"Once I am elected I will send all the STINGER MISSILES to Iran that you want if you let the hostages go!"
THOSE stingers brought down US PLANES & were used against US TROOPS...
and Ronnie was a "tool" of Islamic Jihad & admitted it years later .
SMOKE THAT "Antisocialism" & see if it gets you as HIGH !
Why does the Obama campaign never mention the "so-called" Tax Reform "Norquist Pledge" signers; (41 Senators & 238 Congessmen, Mitt & Newt included!) who have this Country's lawmaking hostage Gridlock?? If they want TRUE Tax Reform; just "AX THE TAX CODE"; with its $1.1TRILLION in "breaks": Plus allowing 45% to pay NOTHING?? It's time for the "ANTI-Norquist Pledge"; to NOT VOTE for any of those signers??
Mister Fids...I have read your response, and I can find nothing to dispute. Well done. And by the way, I was unable to test your theory on 'SMOKE THAT" as I have no papers.
Wow...the truth must really hurt. Sure didn't take long for 'the community' to collapse my opinion. Must be paid for by the Obama PAC's. Who is this person(s) anyway?
O'Bama's Preacher, Rev. Wright, is a Racist and O'Bama accepted his preachings. It was only AFTER the relationship was made public during his race for President did he drop the Rev. Wright like a hot rock". He has associated very closely with Domestic Terrorist in Indiana. Again, he distanced himself from that friendship only when it became public. His latest attempt at "Race Baiting" in the Florida case is another example. O'Bama has always played the "Race Card" but he is more subtle than most. Most of his appointments of African-Americans have run into major problems because of their past & current racial remarks. O'Bama caters to the Black people because he knows that he can do whatever he wants and they will vote for him because he is Black. That's just plain fact. I think his Islamic Muslim past should be part of this election. If his staff are going back 50 years to call Romney a bully, then O'Bama's past is fair game. His Socialistic writings in College should be made public and his association with Black Radicals and his cozy treatment of the Black Panthers during his election and the Black Panthers putting out a Contract on Zimmerman. O'Bama and his Boy Eric shoved that under the rug real quick.
JoeB, Maybe Prez Obama could study under you and learn how not to race bait? Not.
@Joe B if you remember correctly they went back to the President's birth, don't you remember that? The long hard search for his birth certificate. That was about 50 years ago, huh? Just asking.
I guess the TRUTH hurts, doesn't it? The TRUTH, you can't HANDLE the TRUTH. Snivvel, whine.....
If you want real solutions to our problems go watch Nick Hanauer on youtube..enough said.
The only way the Republicans can distance themselves, is to repudiate Ricketts personally and financially.
You mean like PBO does with his super pac donors?
These guy(Ricketts) will be mitt worse nightmare, he from Chicago ,apparently he has a beef with Obama, soon he will tell mitt. to kiss his butt. and run ads. he want.
Did you notice the emphasis.
It's not the wrong thing to do, it's the wrong strategy.
It tells you what the GOP is
I have bad news for all you knee-jerk liberals: Obama does not need any help to divide this country. He has already done his best to divide us along racial lines. Now he is trying to divide us along religious lines with his big pander-push with the LGBT crowd.
No sitting president has done more to polarize this country than your hero, Barack Hussein Obama.
You all need to wake up and smell the divisive baloney that has been emanating from the White House for 3 & 1/2 years.
softdude got it right this was leaked to the media so Willard and the republicans can denounce these type of tactics before they start happening. Willard and the republicans will pretend to be against these tactics publicly but smiling and laughing when the cameras are off.
Patrick Salt Lake City -- Then O'Bama should do the same to Bill Ayres, the Balck Panthers and the Rev. Wright, just to name a few. Wright was his Pastor for 20 years and O'Bama went back for 20 years to hear and support Wright's Racist rants and it was when Wright became a "Political Liability" that O'Bama changed Churches.
elliot -- If Republicans "mention Race: O'Bama's Boy Eric will have them charged with a "Hate Crime".
People can only be racially divided if that is what's in their hearts to begin with...all they are looking for is a reason or a person to blame. Is anyone out their insane enough to believe that one man can divide a country? I don't think so! And if you are...
I' dont see how this is racist. Racial, yes. Racist, no.
Wait, are Republicans not allowed to mention race?
Obama is a true socialist along the lines of W.Wilson, FDR, and Carter.... but he lacks the spine or ability to drive that machine and his message is getting lost (see recent polls)....
Is it any surprise the democrats will now start using the race card? Desperate measures for desperate folks!
The real point here is: are you better off today than you were $5 trillion and 4 years ago? It is very evident the liberal/socialist agenda just doesn't work, and we have 4 years of proof!
Are you seriously trying to use relation of Obama to FDR as negative?
You know FDR one of the best presidents of all time, right?
Carter was socialist? ROFL
Actually FDR was not a great President! If it wasn't for WWII, America would still be recovering from the depression. The war drove the economy not FDR's economic policies! History looks kindly on FDR but for the wrong reason.
Really? So he wasn't great because of "what might have been"?
You crack me up.
Eliot - Of course republicans can mention race and do so very often. Did you not hear the Ginrich and Santorum speeches such as teaching black and poor kids the work ethic by having them clean the schools and oh by the way fire the adults who depend on those types of jobs to feed their families.
Give me a break, race is used as often as possible by republicans and unfortunely is very often not in a positive light.
Oh yea, Gingrich's comments about paychecks and food stamps. That was a classic.
FDR put the U.S. on the slippery slope of government dependence.
Because of him we have a weaker country with weaker people. No need these days for self reliance, the government will take care of us. No need to be innovative, that's the governments job. No need to save and invest in your own retirement, the Government will take care of you.
FDR helped inject the government into every facet of our lives from cradle to grave.
Unfortunately when a politician tells the voters he will give them free stuff, they will elect him, without giving thought to who will pay for the free stuff.
How else could a President get elected three times, even without term limits, nobody can agree with the same guy for 12 years unless he is giving you free stuff.
Seldom Seen, are you serious when you feign "surprise the democrats will now start using the race card?" This whole article is about Republicans using the racist Wright diatribes against Obama.
elliot-3020456
I' don't see how this is racist. Racial, yes. Racist, no.
Wait, are Republicans not allowed to mention race?
Elliot, when you intentionally denigrate another race; it is racist.
I say let them have at it. You just don't get it. All during the Zimmerman frenzy, the right went on and on and on about race hustlers, etc. etc. The right is so obssessed with Al and Jesse that they can't see straight. But George Zimmerman didn't get the charges he deserves because of Sharpton and Jackson. Thousands and thousands across the country didn't protest because of them. Many blacks can't even tolerate their need to be in the spolight. Zimmerman will have his day in court because social media and black radio brought the case into the spotlight. Michael Baisden, whom I doubt you've ever heard of, had more to do with the fight for justice in that case than Jesse Jackson ever did. His show is where I first heard about the case.
Anyway, people like Michael Baisden are extremely involved in community action, ESPECIALLY voting. He is obsessed with getting folk to the polls. If the right wants to go down this road, they will see the black community even more motivated than they were in 2008. I promise you that social media and radio shows will drive them to polls in record numbers if they feel that the GOP is race baiting.
Aside from that, to most people Jeremiah Wright is old news. Romney knows that no one cares about this anymore except for the far right. That is why his campaign immediately objected to the ads. If they thought this would help them, they would have the ads up tomorrow.
fdr great? what a laugh!
I agree Bev, but how is talking about 0bamas racist "spiritual adviser" an act of racism by the PAC or
Republicans in general?
This is one of the weakest deflections i have seen. To call racism on a person who is pointing out
racism...seriously?
This looks more like the dems just don't think that Republicans are allowed to point out racism or even talk about race.
Every single person I have a political discussion with says they are better off now than they were 4 years ago - even the repubs. Only laughable issue is that they follow that up with how bad Obama trashed the economy. LOL!
Seldom, just FYI, this is from websters
Now tell me: In which way Obama, FDR or Carter fit ANY f these definitions? Or are you just repeating what you hear the pundits scream?
These days the lines between progressive/liberalism/socialism have become blurred. But make no mistake.... Obama does what Soros says, and Soros has an extensive socialist background!
And believe me, I am not in the least surprise that Obama will gladly use the race card as a weapon, just as he 'tried' to blame the Republicans and Romney of hating women, but failed and his use of class warfare.... the 1% against the poor 99%, what a joke.... his fundraisers are parties for the 1% and he loves every minute of those parties! He is a 1%er and a hipocrite!
To: Beverly in Chicago who said:
Bev, girlfriend, I do not see anything wrong with what has come out from RV. Wright's tape. Are you saying that the REV. is racist. I think what has happen here is a Little of Chicago Politics and the President making his best friend mad 3 years ago. I will say this has come to hunt the President. I sure hope that they can prove that the Rev. is lying. Boy you floks are really scrambling today. Not to worry thinks will swing both ways until November.
Elliot - Get your history straight. If you don't know the facts, don't discuss them as fact. President Roosevelt was elected FOUR times not three and you have no idea what you're talking about because you didn't live back then so you don't have any concept of what things were like for the average person. It wasn't anything like it is today. There were no protections whatsoever for people. There were the very rich, the rich and the poor and working poor and not very much of a middle class. So don't go spout off your mouth over things you know nothing about. Get an education and then come back once you understand history a bit better. Perhaps then you can discuss the subject with some authority.
Ram,
I do not think the President is a socialist but by your definition.
1 The government did take over General Motors, AIG, and some of the larger banks. They have picked industries such as green electricity to fund, they want health insurance to be under the rules of government. I understand they did sell Chrysler and I believe the strategy is to get out when they can
3 There is much talk from the President and the Democrats about the unequal distribution and why should hedge fund managers make 100 times more than a factory worker.
Last part of Socialism
: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done
Add the creation of the patriot act. And Haliburton and who does that sound like? Both parties are guilty
Ok .. that is just plain funny. If you look at the aggregate total of all polls, FDR rates 2nd only to Lincoln. I guess historians and those surveyed are just plain kooky, and we should rely solely on the opinions of just a couple naysayers on how we view past presidents.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_rankings_of_Presidents_of_the_United_States
Mike "Every single person I have a political discussion with says they are better off now than they were 4 years ago - even the repubs."
Really? We have more UN-employment now, $1 dollar buys you less today, Price of Gas has doubled, Price of all energy has gone up more than wages, and house prices are still real low and every single person thinks we are better off?
I am not even blaming PBO for all of this, but really? Some people I know are doing REALLY WELL, while some are just holding court, while some are threading hard just to keep their head above water.
Sure most that have good money put away for Retirement have more in that account that 4 years ago,
Elliot - FDR put us on this ruination of social safety nets? If you have not saved any money for retirement, then believe me you are in big trouble if you think your going to get by on social security.
By the way we did not have any of those social programs in effect before the Great Depression, then why did it happen? It happened because of greedThis last recession was not cause by the social safety net it was caused by the "Free Market" greed. I know you are going to blame the poor and not the banks but those of us who deal with the reality of life knows whose to blame.
We have never been more secure or prosperous in our entire history then we are now with these protections. You know why we started these programs don't you. The old were dying in poor houses, on the streets, and, NO ONE has been hurt by these programs only helped.
If we did not have the protection of unemployment insurance, everytime we had a recession it would have been worse, much worse. I can only pray that you end up on the wrong end of this economy, I hope you suffer for your dumb assed remarks.
Tom Plymouth - Guess again, the national average for gas on May 28, 2008 was 3.94 a gallon. The gas station in my neighborhood reads 3.53 today.
Bill - You can't reason with the likes of Elliott. He's ignorant of the facts of history. People who are ignorant of history have a tendancy to repeat history. You are absolutely correct that there were poor houses prior to the institution of the social safety net. All one has to do is study US History prior to 1932 and you will get a very clear picture of the social fabric of this country as well as the contributing factors to the run up before the big stock market crash. Our country instituted those programs because of the tremendous human suffering that was occuring both before and after the Great Depression. Elliott is just ignorant of history and therefore ill equipped to discuss the subject at hand.
Bill wouldn't it be nice if these great government programs were actually paid for? You know were the tax payers wouldn't have to borrower .40 of every dollar our politicians spend?
Nobody has been hurt? I would beg to differ the citizens of this country are approx 16 trillion dollars in debt and going deeper into debt every day, and someday these promises our politicians have made will go unfulfilled. So my guess is somebody is going to get hurt and they are going to get hurt real bad, ask the Greeks what happens when the Government can't borrower money to pay its debts and no matter how much you tax the rich you still can't afford the bills.
Sad but true. Politicians rarely have the will to take those things away, and once the people are used to them, well, just look at Europe. Even if the politicians finally make the tough choices, the people will riot over their missing freebies, and elect politicians who promise to keep giving them free money.
But since we're talking about presidents that spend freely, I feel it's necessary to point out that the biggest spender before Bush/Obama was not FDR, it was Ronald Regan. Ronald Regan TRIPLED the national debt. He did it by doubling the deficit, welfare spending, and pretty much every other area of the budget except education.
It's why Karl Rove said "Regan proved that deficits don't matter"
Every government since Regan has kept up his gravy train. Once Reagan proved you could lower taxes, spend everything on credit and the people will love you, every politician since has eagerly lined up to get their teat.
'Trickle down' is just a code word for massive increases in the size of the federal government on borrowed money.
Hey smiley, What was the gas price on Dec 07 compared to Dec 11, what was the gas price Oct 1st 08 to what it will be on Oct 1st 12.
We can all cherry pick the numbers to make it look good but Gas on average is more now then what it was 4 - 6 years ago.
FYI - I thought Bushed sucked, so this isn't a Bush/PBO thing. But PBO said the price had to go up for his energy policy to work and it has slowly gone up with very few and small drops than in the past.
The difference between Bush and PBO are pretty simple, it is the choice of doing with a clean gun shot wound, compared to be stabbed and bleeding out, both are horrible.
http://gasbuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspx
Well Elliot...you can discuss the President's race all you want; it's a free country. I am curious how you think the President's race makes him a better or worse man or president. It's in how you answer THAT question that can turn a discussion regarding race into racism.
Mutt had a change to repudiate a questionaire when she referred to Obama as a terrorist. Romney stood there like a deer caught in headlights, he did not utter a word. He is trying to duplicate it so he can come out with the correct stance on the issue, because he is soooooo phucking clueless on how to handle these types of situations.
Romney is a phucking moron.
FDR served three terms. He died soon after being elected to a fourth term.... I know our History well enough to not consider serving a few months as a fourth term of service.
Nobody is discussing the presidents race here. this is in regard to a PAC wanting to point out racist rantings of someone connected to 0bama.
Poor houses were a safety net. And they were largely provided by the government and supplemented by voluntary charity from individuals and churches.
To say that society was worse off before the implementation of government programs overlooks the way that reliance on government has changed our culture.
Today people are less self reliant, less altruistic, less innovative and generally less able to survive on their own.
The government has taken the roll of society in many aspects, and we are all weaker for it. Think of it as the "don't feed the animals" rules we have in our national parks. We don't want the animals to become reliant on handouts because they would become weaker and less able to fend for themselves.
And no I am not comparing humans to wild animals in a pejorative sense, just in a natural sense.
You Teabaggers and your bogus gas price arguments. The price of gas is trending down. But every year it still goes up. So this notion that we will EVER see gas prices in the $2 range is just stupid.
Do the math: Oil Supply dwindling. It doesnt matter if we drilled every potential oil field in our country, it will never replace the draining supply. It just wont. And 'our' oil just ends up on the world market where our pawltry 2% production of the world's supply has maybe a translation of maybe a few cents at our pumps.
Do the math: THe United States use 20% of the Worlds OIl Supply and China and India use more than that. We can at best add 2% to the Worlds supply through our own resources. Meanwhile, it never catches us up to demand. Never will. HIgh Demand and Low Supply means higher prices. now and in the future.
Anybody who says they can get gas prices down to $2 is smoking dope.
WE need to reduce CONSUMPTION of oil and gasoline and develop other alternative energies to reduce our reliance. Or we need to nationalize the OIl Companies such that our discoveries stay here and not allowed to be on the open market. The GOP wont allow restrictions on the Oil companies, so thats out......the oil from the keystone pipeline for example will be refined here, but will go on the world market, where you will still be paying the market price based on supply and demand.
elliot-3020456
"FDR served three terms. He died soon after being elected to a fourth term.... I know our History well enough to not consider serving a few months as a fourth term of service."
Aye, but that's not what provoked the necessity of correcting you.
You stated in #4.8: "How else could a President get elected three times, even without term limits, nobody can agree with the same guy for 12 years unless he is giving you free stuff."
You don't even know your own history, obviously. Not to mention the glaring logical fallacy in your assertion there, as well. Please try harder. Or... deflect and talk about how we're nitpicking your comments when there are bigger issues to discuss.
Try this: type, "I was wrong. That's not what I meant to type but it happened anyway. Thank you for the correction." It won't hurt you, I promise.
To say that society was worse off before the implementation of government programs overlooks the way that reliance on government has changed our culture.
And to make those assumptions based purely on a government reliance prism is false and misleading.
Much of it is related to our advancements in private sector technology and medical advancement. WIth advancement of the internet, you tell me how many jobs went away with e-commerce. How many mom and pop stores ? It made us a truly global economy and supply chain management technology allowed us to make things and employ people in other places.
So where the conservatives see the reliance on Government programs as causal, I believe the truth is that they are symptomatic of the techtonic shifts in the workplace and technology that have the double edged sword effect of incresing productivity and lowering costs, but also displacing milions of workers with no new emerging industries to absorb the shift. When the internet came long, it lifted us out of the decliing manufacturing era. It was clearer when you lost your factory job in 1995, just re-train for a career in IT.
But with no new emerging insdustry with the near-term future of millions of jobs, just what are these dispolaced workers and long-term unemplyed supposed to do? What would they train for these days? And who is lending small business loans these days? Not the banks
Automation of factories eliminated manufacturing jobs en-masse. Agribusiness replaced the family farm and made agricultural subsidies key to the family farmer to survive. If you dont have alternatives for people to move into, then that is not a government probl;em. Thats a market problem.
And to assert that EVERYONE can be successful, its just not true. the 1% of us that are wealthy are just that, 1% of us. Its impossible for all of us to be wealthy in life. So when I hear teabagging conservatives say 'go get a job, anyone can be rich so we have no excuse having safety nets' is just being a moron. Its not reality and not everone will be successful or have the same opportunity to become successful.
So the GOP would just as soon let those people die on the street as part of the Economic Darwinism of survival of the fittest...er...richest that pervades their psyche.
I was wrong and mistakenly typed something that i didn't mean to imply. We can continue this sidebar some more if you would like to.
Are there any other semantics you wish to discuss? Or would you like to discuss how this PAC ad plan is allegedly racist?
And further, look at medical advances. We live longer...surgeries, prescriptions, nusing care it costs more because we live longer. When SS was created, people only lived a few years past retirement. NOw we work even longer (say and average of 67 going forward) , but we love until 85. So the length of benefits has ben extended...due to living longer despite only being able to be in the workforce until about 67.
Thats not government's fault. Thats not the Saety Net's fault, thats not the fault of retirees or the sick or the poor or the jobless. Its DEMOGRAPHICS and Technologcal and medical advancement that puts pressure on thes programs. Do we need to re-alighin tgerms of means testing for premiums and benfit payments? You bet we do....so that we continue tio have a safety net. Not to use it as an excuse to dimantle it.
Gypsy, I was with you until you started in on the tea party. I appreciate your grasp on economics but you should at least give mention to creative destruction and absolute advantage. You are correct that there is no foreseeable industry to absorb employees of off-shored jobs at the moment. But as a seemingly rational and intelligent person you should know that the subsidies and protectionism that you mentioned has had an effect on our ability to start a new industry for displaced workers. People that cannot be profitable in their industry such as farming should have long ago transitioned into a different industry or even created a new one. The coddling by the government has allowed people to not innovate and not find new more efficient processes, which would free up capital to further innovate and create in the cyclical pattern that is the free market.
The outsourcing you mention is also part of a free market. We do not produce anything in the US that we do not have an absolute advantage in producing. If we have a need for something and the most cost effective way to get it is from another country, then we get it from them. This ties into what I said above, that; if someone is not able to be efficient on one industry they need to re-allocate their financial capital as well as their human capital to a more efficient (profitable) market.
I am arguing that it is human nature to progress in a free market, it is in all of our best interests, it is natural. When the government, through the legitimate use of force (trade barriers, subsidies, quotas, and tariffs) disrupts this natural process, we lose efficiency. We are seeing the result of that right now with many displaced workers and a shrinking workforce. Not guaranteed but it is likely that had people been forced out of weak industries earlier, the displaced workers of today would have somewhere to go.
No, no further semantics necessary. You made the appropriate retraction.
I don't feel that this plan was racist in and of itself. It's meant more to illustrate Obama's influences and how they negatively shaped him. A insanely bad strategy? Yes, but racist, no.
The problem is that with the extremism in both parties, it would [most likely] soon cascade into racism. As usual, it's not the message itself that gets distorted, it's other peoples' use of the message to support their agenda that makes it bad. There's a bit of irony in that.
I don't care if Obama went to a snake-handling church. As long as he's not using his office to make us all handle vipers, it's just so pathetically irrelevant. He hasn't been screaming "God damn, America!" and railing on how the white man is keeping him down, so his association with Rev. Wright has no real bearing on Obama's running of this country.
I've associated with murderers, rapists and thieves in my life. I've known all sorts of political affiliations, too - anarchists, communists, socialists, authoritarians - and many more extreme than those. Does that mean I hold their beliefs to be my own? Is this argument really about what views another man holds close to his heart, or is it just another piece being moved across the board? Pull up a seat and strap in, folks! This is going to get ugly; the actual racism will come out as election day draws nearer and desperation sets in on either/both side(s).
I agree with your statement about SS, It has not evolved with the increasing life span of us. There are plans to means test and adjust the retirement program, we just need folks in DC to get to work and quit punting.
So gas was $1.80 in 2008? Bull%^$%#
Joe Ricketts looks like Barney Frank. Unlike him he has no balls.
barney has no balls, he is queer
Shame on you BinAround! Barney Frank is a homosexual and that has nothing to do with the fact that he should be indicted for his role in the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac disaster!!! Him and Chris Dodd!
To follow ralebol's thought, if Obama had balls he would fire Eric Holder (for Fast/Furious among other things) and have the DOJ investigate Frank's role in the real estate crash!
It was a joke. I am no fan of Barney, but we was always willing to fight in the open, whereas guys like Ricketts hide behind their disgusting PAC ads. And that goes for both parties. That's what i meant when I wrote he has no balls.
Thank you for posting, binaround. It's nice to see proof of how the teabaggers really feel.
So Willard can't control the Super Packs. How would he fair in international issues, such as with Russia, China and the Middle East Relations. Perhaps Willard is a very weak "yes man."
Obama can't control what I say...so does that mean he can't handle Russia, China, etc.
We live in a country that values freedom of speech. To me, that seems to be a good thing...
You aren't a Super Pack that works for Romney. This is just another example proving what a low down liar Willard is. Also, if the President wanted to control what you say, he could by making you disappear.
Jobless1 is an idiot as are all Obummer backers.
BinAround the ole pill bottle. Now drink your tea and go back to your basement.
Binaround the homophobe : referrring to the President by any one of the stupid names Righties make up is akin to puttting on a dunce cap, a big red nose and donkey ears. In other words - it tends to put anything else you might have to say in a rather putrid light. Thanks for saving me the time of finding out what you think you mioght have to say, Bozo.
BinAround you must be jobless2. That's too bad. Keep your chin up. It's very obvious you don't know what has been going on in the senate or congress for the past 3.5 years or you would know that your joblessness has been increased by retardican obstructionism. Do some homework and then insult people. Right now you are just making yourself appear as just another ignorant retardican, one of the millions of minion idiots doing what you are told for your masters.
Job1,
By law Superpacs cannot be associated with a campaign and are separate so if they tried to directly influence it would be illegal. That goes for both candidates
The same could be said for anyone in any country. The difference between the US and say, China is, it's illegal in the US and even presidents can be brought down if they push too far. Nixon was brought down by a campaign office break-in...I'm pretty sure Obama (or any president) would be brought down if they got caught having someone murdered.
Did anyone ever notice when Mittens is asked to comment
about any subject, his response is either he hasn't read the story therefore he
can't comment, or he knows about the story and gives a response that is weaker
than wet toilet paper. When Mittens talks about his record or talks about his
proposals for government, the details are
so vague and so full of holes or non-existent, that if held up to scrutiny,
they would disappear in a tiny breeze.
Another worthless use of oxygen form a Teabagger. This is what gets said when you dont have any actual IDEAS or SOLUTIONS. Hate and Talk ar cheap. How about manning up and telling us how conservatives will fix the isues we will be voting on.
Ok, so you have hate and bigotry...but where are your SOLUTIONS? (crickets)
Those who play with fire will be devoured by fire.
Such SuperPac tactic will backfire
Mitt the Barber owes his nomination the the Super Pacs who funded negative attack adds on his behalf. Remember Fatal Attraction.
Does this SuperPac have to prove again that when someone is super rich, someone is likely to be super-stupig?
How do you figure that running negative campaign ads against Obama is racist, but running them against Gingrich is not? Bringing up things about a candidates questionable associations is a part of running for office.
It's only "negative" because what Obama ACTUALLY DID IN REAL LIFE was negative.

How do you know were you the then Senator Obama's Bodyguard?
mitt knows Rev. Wright issue didn't work too well for McCain, bringing these out this time around will energize black folks.
Based upon PJam's logic, here's an equally disturbing assertion: Everyone in America is linked to communism because everyday they use and own products created in China.
And what of the white evangelical leaders (there are many) who have video records of sermons filled with hate against gays and women, minorities and other religions? If by your impotent attempts to associate Obama with Wright ideologically, then you shouldnt mind as we say that the GOP (and by extension Romney) is aligned with the hate of the evangeloical right and Rush Limbaugh.
Oh the hypocrisy of the right...no matter....I hop they go ahead and use Wright in teir hateful, race baitiung ad. It will only fire up our DEm base, boost fundraiaing and turn INdependents away from Romney. Poor Romney, suspended by puppet strings held by incompetent Teabagger zealots and xenophobes.
Please run the ad , GOP , we can use the extra votes......and thank you
I know Republicans don't believe in evolution, but the change from an abolitionist party to today's GOP is the best evidence to disprove evolution.
So you're saying evolution has been disproven? Aren't you a smart one. (sarcasm)
Thanks, Pajama09, if you haven't indicated 'sarcasm,' I would never have got it. (sarcasm)

Ok, bin around...you ARE over 12? Beginning to wonder now....
The Wright controversy was front and center four years ago--it prompted one of Obama's best speeches and led directly to his being the nominee. Romney's connnection to Bain, however, was not vetted four years ago on the national stage. Now that he is the presumptive nominee of the Republican party, Bain is fair pain. Wright is wrong.
I want this election to be a referendum on our financial system. Especially when you consider J P Morgan had to be bailed out to save our economy in 2008, then they turned around and made the same kind of risky gamble AGAIN. Wall Street wants to return to business as usual and Romney looks like the puppet they've hired to accomplish that!
If I remember right the President stated that the passage and signing of Todd-Frank Act was going to curb this type of business? But then I guess I missed something. BTW, this was private money that was invested, not taxpayers money that was lost in the Bankruptcies in the so called "Green Energy" investments.
sfcret
The law as passed did prohibit naked hedges. The implementation rule making process was overwhelmed by bank officers and lobbyists with the objective of watering down the intent of congress by making the law look like a wheel of Swiss cheese with all the loopholes they protested they needed to stay in business. Jaime Dimon, CEO of JPMorganChase was the chief lobbyist.
Any deposit taking bank is investing it's depositors' money. Yes it is gambling its own capital until losses wipe out that capital and depositors money is at risk. As a practical matter, a bank in trouble cannot liquidate its assets quickly enough to meet withdrawal demands and therefor becomes illiquid.
Amy B - "Especially when you consider J P Morgan had to be bailed out to save our economy in 2008, then they turned around and made the same kind of risky gamble AGAIN. Wall Street wants to return to business as usual and Romney looks like the puppet they've hired to accomplish that!"
So you're pointing out that Wall Street HAS returned to business as usual... and yet you are attempting blame Romney?
If you're not going to give credit for the economy to the man who is respobnsible AND who explicitly said "give it to me" (Obama) you could at least point your finger at someone who once was responsible for the economy (Bush) rather than someone who has never even been president.
this was private money
I wouldn't care if J P Morgan lost 3 billion, except the crisis of 2008 showed these banks are "too big to fail." The fact they made and lost another gamble is my concern, because taxpayers could be asked to bail them out at some point in the future, and, at any rate, this lack of regulation, when it enables such risk taking, imperils our whole country. Republicans want to give banks license to do whatever they want, regardless if it threatens our economy, and I do not agree with this approach.
The Bush administration lost billions to fraud in Iraq and Afghanistan, that money dwarfs whatever green investments the government made that tanked, and it ignores the fact green energy is our future, and we need to invest in it, if we are to survive and prosper.
sfcret: It's DODD-Frank (after the Senators) and it's still being written...(the exact language banks have to adhere to, not the larger legislation that holds things like how much capital they now have to have), and while JP Morgan is huge enough to consider a 2 billion dollar loss a bad thing, roll a few heads and move on...if other banks do it, they might not be able to keep going. That's where TAXPAYER bailouts come into question (that's what the whole legislation is designed to try and prevent when it's actually fully implemented).
Royal Texan - It was a democratic controlled congress and a democrat President that approved the Dodd-Frank Act into law. It was the democrats that wrote the law so I guess you are saying that the democrats caved in favor of the lobbyist.
AP - The T got in the way of the D, however, Frank was not a Senator, but a Representative.
Sfcret: you're right in that Frank (as in Barney) was a Rep. but how the heck do you conclude Dodd-Frank was a "caving" in to Wall Street?? Now yeah, originally the bill was much, much tougher, but Wall Street is STILL whining it's way too tough (which I thought was your complaint)...Either way, you miss the point...the bill ordered provisions to be written, which is still being done...it can't therefore be applied retroactively to JP Morgan, whose own CEO admits he doesn't understand the default swaps that lost them 2 billion... If you're going to blame EVERYTHING on Obama, at least figure out what you're trying to blame him for first.
sfcret
No question that Democrats are responsive to lobbyists and the contributions they bring to the table. Both parties get involved in the rule making process, some legitimately since they know what the law intended, some simply responding to lobbyist pressure.
The ongoing concern is the Teapublican pledge to repeal Dodd-Frank in its entirety taking us back to the Bush Jr. era financial casinos.
If Romney is smart he will distance himself STRONGLY from Rickett and say that ANY campaign ad by a Super PAC that invokes racial hatred will not be tolerated and are not from him. But even if he does that and someone runs an ad that evokes racism, he risks being tarred by the brush. He will wind up spending his advertising money running ads that say "I am NOT associated with that ad" and less on actual campaign ads. But I honestly don't think Romney is that smart considering he's been caught saying "I have no knowledge" and then "The ones that I have seen". He said that he has no memory of assaulting a fellow student and IF someone was hurt by his "pranks" then he's sorry to have to apologize.
This has to be a real nightmare for the GOP. It threatens to link the party with racism in a way that people have only whispered about and suggested. It threatens to make a SOLID link in the minds of the people between the GOP and intolerance - which then would further cement the idea that the GOP is for rich white straight MEN only and everyone else is beneath their notice except as a target for attack.

Feel free to eat a bullet any time Karl Roves tactics are too much for you.
This SuperPac gives us the another good case of 'self-destruction.'
Funny how the BONER is trying to say/do something logical without his [sic] friend/Cantor next to him, much less not licking his lips or crying. I guess it is during the closing hours of the DC Bars.
Everyone has her/his/its right to express opinions. I also have a right to close my TD Ameritrade account and stop buying tickets to Cubs games. I do not want any portion of the fees I pay or the money I spend to be used for this kind of smear.
Could it be that Conservatives just don't like black folks in charge?
That's about it. It's killin' em every day. Not only are they incharge but in spite of the Republican opposition they are doing a pretty good job.
You forget that every time a Black conservative tries to run the Dem's destroy them. I say it's the Dem's that are racist. Any minority that breaks from their ranks is vilified. It's seems to me(American Indian) the Dem's want to keep minorities as slaves.
This American Indian conservative believes that almost all Dem's are Socialist/Marxist and I wish you'd go to Europe and let this country breath again.
Oh you tea baggers are something else.
sure John...the millions and millions of black conservatives out there who want to "help" minorities by making sure there are no such things as safety nets, not even when its you OWN money you're paying (i.e. social security), are just being shut down (that's why they're so rare...clearly.) If you had any REAL idea what a socialist or a marxist was, you'd not have to lump them together or with the Democratic party. (there are plenty of places in Europe you could go to find your viewpoint in action as well).
You hateful, destructive and idiotic democrats ARE the problem. What will you do after you destroy this country and you have no tax paying republicans left to support your vile existence?
Job1 you are an ass, and exactly what is wrong with politics today. You are no different calling Mitt Romney "Willard" than Sean Hannity is calling our President "The Annoited One" You represent the very worst in both parties. Grow up, there are good and bad in both parties, racism in both parties (you think no democrat has EVER uttered a racial slur??), liars in both parties etc. Anyone with a brain would not align her or himself with either party, but listen to all candidates and vote for the best person. Your vitriol is as bad as anyone else's.
It's not that they are black that we don't like, it is INCOMPETENT, INEPT people who have NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! And have no business being in the position of president!!
BinAround: ok, now you've revealed yourself...Only Republican pay taxes?? Anyone who disagrees with you is "hateful"?? THis is called democracy, and no, democracy isn't "destroying" the constitution. My, my, my. Someone needs some fresh air...get out of mom's basement and off her computer...you should be out playing with people your own age...
IckiTicki: I would not exactly call the many achievements of the Obama administration incompetent or inept. The right wing hates him because of what he has accomplished and what he would like to accomplish, not because he has not achieved for America. You may overlook the capture of OBL, the Arab spring, the drop in illegal immigrants, the recovering economy, the pull out of Iraq, the coalition against Iran, the saving of Detroit, the work against Citizens United, the damage to Al Quaida, the cleanup money for the gulf from BP, the benefit for our veterans, et al, as no achievement at all...but for the majority of Americans who are impressed at what our duly elected president has accomplished, while the GOP has obstructed everything as much as possible, you do seem like a garden variety racist.
Yeah John,
Cuz Herman Cain is such a strong leader. What next Herman Cain to endorse a pizza?
Job1 - You are exactly right. I know the right wing tea party group vehemently deny it but it bothers them to head exploding distraction that a black man is the President.
....get the racist out of the White House in November......vote Romney 2012!
you are exactly what the mainstream gop is afraid of!
you are exactly what the mainstream gop is afraid of!
...really?.....good, because real Americans are taking back our country in November.....watch and learn....
So..... white male landowners?
Hmmm...
I didn't realize someone took it away from you to begin with...
seriously? You're starting up with the 'real Americans' meme again?
NYCguy
You are about as far from a real American ( that would be a decent citizen of the United States ) as it is possible to be.
Obama has been too supportive of the Republican base in the last few years -
you know all the bailouts and half measures as a result of compromise with GOP (you know there is no public option in health reform, regulation of banks did not go far enough in Frank-Dodd).
I thought as least Republicans (more than Dems) should be more grateful to the President.
But I guess not many Republicans are grateful to the President as demonstrated by this SuperStupigPac.
I don't think your kind will. Real American's aren't rednecks and dumb a$$es. Well maybe 30%.
The Democrats had a veto proof majority for 2 years and all they did was bail out their rich bank partners, Unions, and pass Dodd Frank, and other destructive Bills. He as appointed Czars, allowed the Government to purchase Stock in a Company (GM) of which we are loosing billions. (and he is complaining that JPM lost 2 billion of it's own money.). I guess we Republicans should be grateful that the Democrats have not fully destroyed the Constution yet. I hope there are enough taxpaying voters left to vote most of the Democrats out of office, and get some people in there that will obey the constution, instead of trying to destroy it. Race has nothing to do with Obama being a bad President.
...and what exactly is "destructive" about Dodd-Frank? THe banking industry does not need your tears...they're doing quite well. You have a problem with the automotive industry surviving? Really? What part of the constitution in your wisdom is "destroyed"?? (although I'll admit there are several parts under unrelenting attack by your fellow right wing Republicans...like the right to privacy for women...and the right to be free FROM state imposed religion ). I guess you Republicans as Biden said, have a little bit of a problem with reality on your hands: "The automotive industry is alive and Bin Laden is dead." Yeah, we can only imagine the scenario if your party had stayed in charge.
Except when JP Morgan blows $2B on the same type of sh*t that got us into this mess.
It over regulates the smaller and medium size banks. They are not as able to afford the extra Accounts, Lawyers, and others needed to fullful the new regulations. Has lending to business, homeowners inproved since it passed, the answer is NO. It simply allows the biggest banks to get bigger, and take over the smaller ones. Banks should not be in investment banking just loaning to businesses and public. Investment banks should not be lending to business, and public, they should get away with the regulations for the past 40 years and go back to the orginal restrictions. Everytime they pass new regulations the cost of banking to the consumer goes up. Try to find free checking, or free travelers check for instance. Now you have to pay for everything and the prices keep going up. Why because when the more the banks are regulated the more people they have to pay to meet the regulations, and since noting is really free they pass on the cost to the consumer (the bank customers). With Dodd Frank the banks will soon start charging customers fees just to hold their money, just like the major depositors.
What would have been wrong with GM going into bankruptsy? Many Companies have done this. They usually come out better and not costing the Taxpayers anything. GM was producing vehicles that american buyers were not purchasing. When companies don't produce products that the public doen't want they should change, or go out of business. By your logic we (the government should then give money to companies that produce Buggy Wips, rotory telephones, shoe lace hooks, hat pins, and other things that are not needed by the general public. Why did they not do the same for Chrysler? They tend to pick and choose their companies to save at taxpayers expense. Companies that produce good vehicles tend to survive, because people buy them. If a company produces junk then let them go bankrupt.
Women for example have the Right to have sex and to say no. If they choose to do so they then have to deal with the results, being childbirth, sexual deseases, etc. The general public and the Chirches should not have to pay for the results of their decisions. The President is appointing Czars like crazy. His party wants wants everyone to purchase Health Care, even if you don't want to. Then where will this stop? Will you have to purchase a GM car because the Government owns it, would you have to purchase homes from one company, or just buy Apple Computers and Cell phones, because the government says so? The Government is not even susposed to be in Health Care (where in the constitution does it give them the right to do this.) The Constution gives the Federal Government the right to Regulate Interstate Commerce, the right to make Foregin Treaties, and the right to have a Standing Army. All other rights to to the States Governments. How did this country become great, with out all those added Government like the Education Department, Energy, EPA, and such. Maybe it became great because of the lack of them.
Banks would have survived but would have been smaller due to not being bailed out.
GM would have survived bankruptcya bit smaller, the unions would have been smaller too.
Personal insurance companies would have taken out options for woman to pay for contraception.
The National Debt would be 10 Trillion instead of 16 trillion. Thousands of guns would not have made it to Mexico. The Federal Government would not be sueing the states of Arizona, and Georga for trying to do the Federal Governments job of illegal immegrent control. To name a few.
Ruken, JPM lost 2 billion of their inverstment capital. Their own money not bank depositors money but shareholders money. It is a lot different then the money they lost back in 08 due to the being forced to lend money to home buyers that could not afford the loans in the first place. Resulting in the buyers walking away from them once the home prices started to go down. Hence the bank lost money because they were forced by the Govenment to give bad loans. So since the Government Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac backed the bank loans, the banks got the money, since the banks knowing the loans to be bad got insurance to cover their losses, the Government took the losses because they didn't insure for this. So of course the Taxpayer has to pay the bill, since we are the government (when they loose money, but we never get money when the government makes a profit). The banks have since payed back most of the money, but GM has not.
...yes, the bitter libtard tears will be flowing like Niagra Falls and real Americans will be proud that Mitt Romney will replace the failed empty suit that currently sucks up oxygen in the White House.....I'm already tingling in anticipation......
Ruken: and you know why JP Morgan will survive? Because a 2 billion dollar loss will not put them under. No, I repeat, they don't need your tears. The supposed terribly burdensome regulation on them has nonetheless resulted in the healthiest banking industry this country has seen. oh. boo-hoo.
define real americans
Michael: a couple of points you've overlooked: The issue is not WHO pays for contraceptives, and it never was. WOMEN pay for contraceptives if they work, through their insurance. The issue is: can religious institutions force women to abide by their religious teachings because they are an employer and therefore pay TWICE for contraceptives (once through their insurance without access...the second time through their own pockets where the religious institution such as a hospital can't prevent them from access). Secondly: women need no lectures from you about who bears the "consequences" for unintended pregnancies. That's exactly why the prohibiting contraceptives not to mention prohibiting access to safe legal abortions, is an issue.
You also missed the number of "czars" appointed by previous Presidents such as George Bush. Apparently, that didn't seem to be an issue with conservatives then, since they somehow thought "czar" a fairly benign title when they weren't seeing communists and Muslims around every corner.
EVERYONE already purchases health care, whether you think you do or not. It's just that it appears to be hidden from folks like you who seem to believe all those hospital emergency visits from the uninsured are "free". Your on your own healthcare didn't work so well in putting average Americans one illness away from losing their homes up against the insurance companies, remember? That's how we got here. You keep your insurance or you buy something else. Not everyone mourns our status as the only developed country in the world without a national health care plan. We're about to have an election in part on the idea that it would have been better for this country to be without an automotive industry, allow Wall Street's largest banks to fail, and keep the longest wars in our history going. Or not. I'm going to go way out on a limb here and predict your side on every single one of these issues, loses.
I am sure there are many good Republicans, but this small number of idiots can kill off the entire GOP brand - an irony considering that a small number of elites (special interests) always get away with things. This can work both ways, I guess.
But it doesn't. Because the Democrats and the Republicans are held to different standards. If we had a Free Press, that wan't so Biased towards the Democrats, then stories, and truth would surface. it is one reason that FOX became the number one news agency, they have both sides on to commit on stories. People get to see both sides for their stories. Something not seen on MSNBC, Current, ABC, CBS and others. Just like CNN that withheld stories in Iraq because Saddam H. would look bad. Or else they would have been kicked out of the country like the others.
Wrong again, Michael. Fox is only ahead in viewers on CABLE, not news. The main networks (every single one of them) dwarf Fox's viewer numbers by far. And on a week when senior execs at your so called unbiased network are being charged with major crimes in phone hacking scandals, you may want to ease up just a bit on that flag waving about just which news agency viewers can trust. (here's a hint: perhaps you just don't like your "news" to include anything you might actually not already know and agree with?)
republicans inserting race into the election? OH MY GOD. Just the other day we read how the dems are making stradegy sessions to call the republicans racist and this author claims its the republicans? Gross
phucken republican retard
Republicans complain about Obama's policys and are called Racist, I guess all the people that hated Bush are Racist too. Obama's Race has nothing to do with it, it is his values, honisty, and moralty, that has to do with everything. Democrats are the only ones injecting Race into this election, because most of them are dumb enought to believe it.
I just feel sorry for the Cubs!
I just feel sorry for the Cubs!
McCain is proud of the campaign he ran? He got crushed.
This is so over the top. The president clearly disavowed the minister as well as the church and walked away. What more could he do? Nobody can gag people or predict what they will and will not say. Bring it on Republicans. This election is about the economy, debt, and jobs. Keep focusing on social issues of little relevance and you will hopefully provide us with a congress that will actually do something.
He walked away after how many years? He was directly involved in his decision to go there. I think I would walked out in the first minute. What a joke. Only after he is caught does he walk away. Romney at least had no part in the commercial. It is important who you call friends.
SO....you hold Obama accountable for the statements of the preacher he disavowed, but Romney has no accountability for a PAC considering a race based campaign attack? I trust you are NOT an advisor to Romney who will now, no doubt, but at least smart enough to RUN in the other direction from his so called "friends".
He tried to bribe Wright with $150,000. He went to his house and asked him to shut up. Obama is not only dishonest, he is a liar of the first magnitude. He and Soros hate this countr;y and are deliberately trying to destroy it.
Bin around: Oh and you know this because Mr. Limbaugh told you so?? Good luck getting anyone outside your limited echo chamber on the vast conspiracy loving far right to believe that one. So Mr. Soros "hates" this country and is trying to destroy it because he donates to those you disagree with?? (You must just LOVE the Koch brothers.)
I don't hold Obama accountible for the statements of the Preacher, but he did continue to listen to them for 2 decades. Which accounts for something. He must have agreed with him or he would have left that perticular chirch for one that he would be in more agreement with. Romney took no part in the ad campain to make it or have input into it. He said he did not personally agree with it. He did the right thing. Wheather or not the ad was factual.
300Michael: I don't know. I was here under President Bush and didn't leave the country...
(seriously: if you've read anything in the run up to the last election where this issue was exploited for all it was worth and still couldn't get any traction, you would have known that Wright didn't make these kinds of statements from the pulpit and never when Obama was in rare attendance.)
First of all when you take 3 words out of context they sound differently. But oh well. That is right from the radical right and their playbook.
How could this possibly be considered racial? A black man attending the church of another black man. Now, there's nothing wrong with that. The problem is that it is NOT a "racial" factor, but instead, a "radical" factor. Wright was preaching hatred and revolution against America and Caucasians. That radicalism, of which Obama PARTICIPATED in for over 20 years is the problem. Why? Because it helped to make Obama who is, who he learned by, who he emulated as his "spiritual advisor."
Those "lessons" he learned from Wright constitute his outlook on incidents such as the Trayvon Martin shooting. In my opinion, it was Obama's erroneous nationally-broadcast opinion on the incident which made me realize how skewed his perception is. Wisdom is not part of WHO he is. He can't practice being wise, because he never learned how to be wise. And, isn't that what we seek spiritual advisers for? (Before anyone hastily responds in agreement to Obama's Martin comments, let me just say that, in my opinion, he should have had all the facts before he publicly commented. By making a 5-year-old photo of a "cherub looking" young Trayvon a "victim", instead of the REAL photo of a 17-year-old, gold-toothed, mature, young MAN shooting the bird was clearly a ploy to create divisiveness. Furthermore, it should have stayed at a local level with no interference from the Federal Government. Then, the media tried to "cover" for the President's ill-advised comments by "altering" the videos and manipulating the 911 call. What a debacle it became. Of course, Obama succeeded in enraging the mobs, and let them loot and protest -- without any admonition to stop, and wait for justice to prevail. His insistence that "Trayvon could have been my son" COULD have been a great trick for the masses to show racial animosity, but it back-fired because it was all a lie. The photos, the videos, the tapes were all used to promote an agenda for Obama to stir up hatred in the USA. THAT is why I WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA. )
So, if we view our Church and Pastors as those who help us become "better" and "wiser", then Wright has failed Obama miserably. And it is an indicator of WHO Obama is. And I don't like it.
Obama didn't "PARTICIPATE" in squat! I'd say that 50% of all Americans have associated themselves with "radical" people or concepts at one time or another in their lives....IT MEANS NOTHING! If it did then the Bush boys are guilty of not only associating with but harboring a "radical" family...the Bin Ladens!
And don't forget H.W. Bush's father being in cahoots with the Nazis
"Wright was preaching hatred and revolution against America and Caucasians."
LOL. You guys will believe anything, won't you? The guy was a Marine and once involved in saving the life of a President. He is a complicated man, and a loudmouth attention seeker, but he is harmless.
Have you actually seen/heard any of his sermons? He is an inflammatory racist who does not respect this country and I find it shocking that the O'Bamas were at one time part of his congregation.
Then I suggest you listen to some of his preaching then. Bin Laden was a laudmouth attention seeder, once too. He attended his chirch for decades, If any other person attended a white or hispanic chirch that taught half of what he said they would have never been alowed to run for president. But it is OK for Democrats to be members of the KKK (higher officials) and belong to groups like this and still not be considered racists. (LOL).
Michael: exactly what sitting Democrat is getting a pass for belonging to the KKK? (If you're going to bring up that tired old charge of West Virginia's dead senator again, remember he long ago disavowed his racist past and owned up to it and there were plenty of people who never forgave him regardless...just as there were never those who believed Jesse Helms' "conversion" either). Despite your obvious HOPE this becomes a campaign issue again (joined by millions of democrats who would just as equally hope your party would be that stupid)...I doubt Mr. Romney would have gotten this far if he didn't know better. You can be darn sure he will do what he can to make sure this ad does not go forward. With help from "friends" like you and this super pac, any hope he has of winning will disappear quickly enough.
Get over blaming Bush for all of Obama's failings.
Bush is past. This is about having had enough "change", buying votes with government handouts, bowing to Muslims, corruption in the administration from the White House down. Obama and his bitch think they are royalty and expect us to pay for all their indulgences. ENOUGH!!!
Binaround: Yeah, if I were a Republican, I'd try to make everyone forget GW's 8 years too...and anyone wanting to be taken seriously does not use the "b" word in describing any woman at any time, let alone first ladies, just because you don't care for their politics. Did your mama not ever tell you that?
She's probably right upstairs.
I saw her say "All this for a damn flag?" Hubby nodded paternalistically in the affirmative. Democrats don't appear to be "polite scociety" judging from their and your language describing my party. I do not accept
"political correctness".
We need to put comrade Obama and all his "czars" in the category of past presidents
Yes, he is the one who got many time elected. If he was a republican he would have never made it to the first one.
Bush had more women in cabinet offices then either Clinton or Obama. So don't bring up womens issues. Both were more pro women then Obama in action, not in just words. Women graduate from college in higher numbers then men and will soon control more of the workforce because of their greater involvement. Women have always controled the majority of the spending (just ask your mother, or wife).
I just believe any person's right end where I get involved. If you want medical coverage then get insurance, People have the right to do with their bodies as they see fit, but I should not have to pay for their condums, pills or abortians. Just like if I choose to rob a band for example, I should be expected to take full responsibility for my actions, and when found guilty would not expect the general public to help serve some of my prison time. But then Responsibility is not something the Democrats teach, as it would do away with all their pet projects.
Binaround: you a joke writer for Limbaugh? Or do you just make stuff up for your own amusement...
Either way, grownups don't use the b word if they want their opinions to be taken seriously (esp. by half the population, whether they share your political opinions or not)...
I believe it was a democratic President who said "ask not what your country can do for you...." and another who worked against America's poor houses to give Americans some dignity in their old age. I guess I missed that missive that to be a real American who wasn't dismissed as a 'b', one had to live by the mantra "I am an island"
300Michael,
I shouldn't have to pay for your or anyone's pregnancy and childbirth costs, type two diabetes, stds, high blood pressure, cancer, liver disease, strokes, heart attacks, ED, etc, etc, etc. Most medical issues people have are a result of some type of personal choice they make. Not eating the right thing, eating too much, drinking, smoking, not exercising, taking part in sports, on and on. You cannot make value judgements on other people's choices and say that their insurance shouldn't cover a portion of the costs unless you agree that basically none of your costs should be covered by others in your insurance plan either. That's why we have insurance. To spread the costs because eventually all of us need the care and most cannot afford paying everything out of pocket. By the way, birth control is covered because it requires a prescription and many trips to the doctor for check-ups and exams over the course of many years to maintain the prescription. Though it can be used for other medical issues, it is often used to control the possibility of pregnancy (a medical condition) and is much less expensive than all the costs associated with that. That's why insurance companies don't have a problem with covering it, and neither should you, since it's saving them and you money.
