Romney sweeps trio of primaries, padding delegate total

 

Updated 8:50 p.m. — Mitt Romney added to his delegate count on Tuesday by sweeping the first set of primaries since his main Republican rivals have both ended their campaigns.

The presumptive Republican nominee won the primaries in Indiana, West Virginia and North Carolina, according to Associated Press projections. Between those three states, a total of 107 delegates were at stake in Tuesday's primaries.

Romney entered the contests having won 856 of the 1,144 delegates needed to formally secure the nomination. North Carolina awards 52 delegates, allocated proportionally by statewide vote, while Indiana awards three delegates to winner of its nine congressional districts. West Virginia's delegates are all elected directly on the ballot.

These contests were the first since former House Speaker Newt Gingrich dropped his bid for the Republican nomination, and the first since former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum's late-night endorsement of Romney on Monday.

Texas Rep. Ron Paul has continued with his campaign, which has involved an additional strategy of picking off delegates in states that delay formal allocation of delegates to candidates.

Romney in fast track increasing support from Republican and independents while solidified his nomination has Obama's opponent. According to politico and George Washington, independent polls ( not from bias pollsters ) Romney lead double digit with independent voters, key to win the election, 47 % to 46% for Obama if the election is today, also Congress 65 % believe Republicans will take over the congress.

Democratic pollster Celinda Lake, who helped conduct the poll, said: “There are
no fissures on either side, but you have the Democrats less enthusiastic than
the Republicans.”

Another new survey, the USA Today/Gallup Swing State
Poll, also shows Romney making strides against Obama. Romney trailed Obama by 9
points in March in a dozen swing states, but the new survey results show him
behind by just two points, 47 percent to 45 percent.

I'm with you, BigBenalaska, I was independant in the last (2008) election. I've always sided independant until the last 3 and a half years and actually took the step to register Republican. Obama scares me, not for me, but for my children. Massive debt for the US, more people on welfare (and I have a jaundiced eye because I actually had welfare growing up), apologizing for our foreign policies, everythings a campaign or blame game on Bush. He is a politician through and through (no wonder, he came from chicago and learned the game there.)

He had control the first two years in WA. Now, even his own democrats refuse his budget. The changes in the first two years.... healthcare that we all hate, bailouts for failing companies (don't talk to me about the auto industry, my husband has been in that industry for over twenty years and they wouldn't have failed anyways, due to how tight that industry is). Restructuring, yes, that would have happened, but we used tax payer dollars to make it easier for them. They aren't stupid and jumped on THAT wagon. Oh, and the banking industry, they aren't stupid either, just greedy.

Obama has failed, us as a Nation, and everything reflects that in our daily lives. I'm not saying he created it all, but "hope and change" was what he rode on to election, and his changes haven't helped.

He has no leadership abilities, forcing things down our throats, making poor decisions, etc.

I wish him well, because I do think he is a good man... I just think he's in over his head.

The bank bailout was signed by Bush, not Obama.

Second, had McCain been elected, we'd be a lot worse off today than we are, just as we will be if (and it's a HUGE if) Romney is elected. Republican policies got us into this mess (most polls show about 60% of Americans believe Republicans are to blame) and they'll only make things worse. The economy is improving, al Queda is decapitated, OBL is dead and while you say the auto industry would have been fine (I wonder where you studied economics and became an expert) the truth is that the auto industry did need the help and cars are selling again, and they're even adding shifts back on, and the bailout made that possible.

It's a good thing that all the polls show that President Obama has a commanding lead on the electoral college map (which is the only data that matters) and looks to be lined up for an easy reelection. Romney has no answers for us, no solutions, and so it's no surprise that, when looking at the map, he has no viable path to 270 electoral votes. If we go from just the data from conservative pollsters, like Rasmussen reports, if the election were held today, Obama would win with 347 electoral votes to 191 for Romney.

    I am just curious why the MSM keeps touting these delegate numbers that are clearly not true. Last weekend Paul won most of the delegates in Maine and Nevada. MSM should be subtracting them from Romneys totals. Paul also has the majority so far in Missouri, Minnesota, Louisiana, Washington, Colorado, and Alaska. Subtract those from the totals also, and add them to Paul.

    ok, lets see how this would work with republicans in the oval office. With Bush..we had an unpaid for war that got little done. We had big tax breaks for his wealthy friends and big business. We lost thousands of jobs . With Obama at least we have not lost even more jobs..have grown some..not great but way much better than republican Bush. Would it be better with another republican..if so how ? Already they are pushing for huge tax breaks for the wealthy...cutting anything that helps the citizens of this country..the middle class, the poor and those on social security. Cutting even more from education..and wanting to place those in collage with even more debt to graduate..unless of course you are very wealthy.

    This country was not founded for the benefit of a few, elite, it was founded for us all...however that seems not to be the case anymore. Our constitution is being cut apart by the supreame court..our politicans are much more interesdted in protecting their wealthy friends. Our tax money is wasted by a congress who accepts huge amounts of funding from lobbyist to do their bidding..I have to wonder when the real citizens of this country finally stand up for all our rights...rather than the rights of a very few.

    Pedstrian in sf .... I kept running totals 4 years ago (every 4 years its gone down) and it was the smallest bit over 7% as a whole for the nation... Right out of the gate this time, I mentioned on here "Why did Iowa only show a little over 2% had voted when 4 years before Iowa had leaned closer to 12% and Iowa has a very active system.. Guess we now know after the totals of real votes are counted that Ron did win and I would guess the media aided in throwing away Americans votes in the earlier beauty pagent and reported false numbers to trick Americans during the most holy of all American functions.. get pissed..

    Clearly the poll numbers are a direct indictment of the Obama administrations lack of effort for the country. Obama has not lead this nation, instead he has played the blame game and the race card. A leader like Regan that had 8 years of Democrat control of the House, and 2 in the Senate got business done for the nation. Obama is a street thug with no leadership experience, and it shows.     National polls have no meaning whatsoever.

    The only poll numbers that matter are the statewide polls in swing states, and Obama leads in every swing state except Missouri. On the electoral map, Obama's lead is insurmountable. Romney has no viable path to 270, and that's the only way we elect presidents.

    Obama will win quite handily.

    Maybe Romney better focus more on trying to get a real win somewhere besides bought media heads that divide us with misleading storys.

    So far we have had 11 state conventions and Romney lost them all to Ron Paul with more to come.

    RNC Rule 38 makes all his primary bound delegates the media claims as bound,,, unbound, and they aint voting Romney either. He's going from first to last in a big hurry now that the states are officially being counted. Media cant hide it for much longer... Bye bye Romney.. You were never constitutionally eligible under article 2 to be running for President in the first place anyways.. You have to be a second generation American to be a general or commander in chief and you aint it.

    Incorrect. Even the Fox News poll has Obama leading in Florida, 45% to 43%, and if Fox says Obama is ahead by two points, the reality is that he must be much farther ahead than that. Also, Florida is not even a must win for Obama. The president has a solid lead in PA, VA and OH, put those three together and Obama has secured 278 electoral votes, and thus, reelection. Hell, you can even take Virginia out of the equation and if Obama wins Iowa, where again, he is leading, Obama wins 271 to 267. Also, Florida does not always go with the winner, in 1992 G.H.W. Bush won Florida and Bill Clinton won the election.

    The point here is the President Obama has several viable and probable paths to 270, Romney has no viable path to 270.

    There are so many people who feel that the polls are incorrect and Romney is winning something (Anything). Good luck with that!! Some polls had Mccain winning by 5 points and he shut down his campaign at 9pm or 9:30pm.

    President Obama did a good a good job , not a perfect one but a good job and the haters really dont want to admit it. This country was screwed and everyone blames President Obama, sad isnt it. There is a reason why the polls are not a good tool nowadays but let them hope!!

    Nobody who has lost 2 out of 3, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Florida, has gone on to win the Presidency. Obama has Pennsylvania sewn up. Needs 1 of the 2 remaining states.

    The media has a vested interest in people staying interested in the Presidential race. They will show the poll numbers being close.

    Watch where the 2 parties set-up their victory parties. If Obama reserves a park that holds 1 million people and Romney reserves a hotel bar room that packs in 100 (like McCain did), my bet is that Obama wins.

        It is ironic that you chose to use the phrase "E pluribus unum." You know that means (roughly) "Out of many, one," which essentially expresses the desires of the founding fathers to build a country where anyone could feel welcome no matter what religion or belief system they used. That was the country's motto for nearly 200 years until 1957. Then there was a wave of christian actions to turn the United States into a christian nation. While some coins in the south had the term "In God we Trust," as far back as the 1870's, it wasn't until the 1950's that it got on our federal dollars, got injected into the pledge of allegiance, and replaced "E pluribus unum," as our national motto. I'm all for people believing in God. Most of the ones that I know that do are very nice people. But you just pointed out the one horrible thing that religions and religious people can do. You said "this election is about one nation under god." No. No election is ever about creating an official religion. We've managed to run a pretty successful country since 1776 without forcing a religion and the views of a religion on the people (although in reality, there's been plenty of that. How many laws have NO moral implication other than the religious one.) Since 1789, the Constitution has protected our right to believe anything we want, or nothing if we so choose. You can't have a christian-only nation until you destroy the constitution.

        Not quite. His father, George Romney, was CEO of American Motors, as well as Governor of Michigan, and a multi-millionaire. Not just a "silver spoon", Mitt had his gold plated. Granted, he did manage to parlay his substantial inheritance into even more millions - but he's not exactly "self-made".

        Savvy at making money, not so savvy at making jobs. His main strategy was to buy control of a company, offshore jobs and lay off people to temporarily reduce costs, then use that temporary profit boost to borrow large sums of money. He'd charge the company millions in "management fees", then spin it off, laden with debt, short on inventory, and lacking employees. Not surprisingly, those businesses usually ended up bankrupt.

        Amazingly, there were some companies that survived that corporate raiding, Romney is now touting them as his successes. They are the exceptions, not the rule.

        Um, apparently you didn't hear how he "rescued" the Salt Lake Winter Olympics. He hired a lobbying firm to lobby Congress, and got several hundred million dollars from Uncle Sam. That's certainly rates as being a big spender of "hard earned taxpayers dollars", even if you think the Olympics was worth it.

        If Romney manages to get the Presidency, he'll call for tax cuts for the rich (and himself), "balance the taxes" by increasing taxes on the working poor, and of course, more spending on corporate welfare for his rich buddies. It's simply a more extreme version of what Bush Jr. did, with a predictably more extreme result. When the country needs an FDR, the Republicans are offering a Herbert Hoover.

        One wonders how many government jobs Romney would try to offshore.

        As much as I dislike Romney, I have to say you're full of it, Care4. Unlike the average teapartier, I've actually read and understood the Constitution, and there is nothing in there about "2nd generation" It only requires that candidates be a "natural born citizen", be at least 35 years of age, and have been a resident of the US for at least 14 years. Just like Obama, Romney meets those qualifications.

        You nailed it.. Natural Born is obviously not what you had thought or you would have realized it as second generation.

        When developing a new U.S. Constitution for the United States of America, Alexander Hamilton submitted a suggested draft on June 18, 1787. In addition, he also submitted to the framers a proposal for the qualification requirements in Article II as to the necessary Citizenship status for the office of President and Commander in Chief of the Military.

        Alexander Hamilton’s suggested presidential eligibility clause:

        No person shall be eligible to the office of President of the United States unless he be now a Citizen of one of the States, or hereafter be born a Citizen of the United States.

        Many of the founders and framers expressed fear of foreign influence on the person who would in the future serve as President of the United States since this particular office was singularly and uniquely powerful under the proposed new Constitution. This question of foreign influence was elevated when John Jay considered the additional power granted to the Presidency during times of war, that is when he serves as Commander in Chief of the military. Jay felt strongly that whoever served as President and Commander In Chief during times of war must owe their sole allegiance to and only to the United States.

        Because this fear of foreign influence on a future President and Commander in Chief was strongly felt, Jay took it upon himself to draft a letter to General George Washington, the presiding officer of the Constitutional Convention, recommending/hinting that the framers should strengthen the Citizenship requirements for the office of the President.

        John Jay was an avid reader and proponent of natural law and particularly Vattel’s codification of natural law and the Law of Nations. In his letter to Washington he said that the Citizenship requirement for the office of the commander of our armies should contain a “strong check” against foreign influence and he recommended to Washington that the command of the military be open only to a “natural born Citizen”. Thus Jay did not agree that simply being a “born Citizen” was sufficient enough protection from foreign influence in the singular most powerful office in the new form of government. Rather, Jay wanted to make sure the President and Commander In Chief owed his allegiance solely to the United States of America. He wanted another adjective added to the eligibility clause, i.e., ‘natural’. And that word ‘natural’ goes to the Citizenship status of one’s parents via natural law.

        Below is the relevant change to Hamilton’s proposed language detailed in Jay’s letter written to George Washington dated 25 July 1787:

        Permit me to hint, whether it would be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Command in Chief of the American army shall not be given to nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.

        Upon receiving Jay’s letter, General Washington passed on the recommendation to the convention where it was adopted in the final draft. Thus Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution, the fundamental law of our nation reads:

        Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of U.S. Constitution as adopted 17 September 1787:

        No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

        There you have the crux of the issue now before the nation and the answer.

        Hamilton’s suggested presidential citizenship eligibility requirement was that a Citizen simply had to be ‘born a Citizen’ of the USA, i.e., a Citizen by Birth. But that citizenship status was overwhelmingly rejected by the framers as insufficient. Instead of allowing any person “born a citizen” to be President and Commander of the military, the framers chose to adopt the more stringent requirement recommended by John Jay, i.e., requiring the Citizen to be a “natural born Citizen“, to block any chance of future Presidents owing allegiance to other foreign nations or claims on their allegiance at birth from becoming President and Commander of the Military.. Therefore, the President of the United States must be a “natural born citizen” with unity of citizenship and sole allegiance to the United States at birth. [SOURCE CREDIT]

        So why do we keep hearing about the President only needing to be “born a citizen”? Well, let’s start with the fallacy of the 14th amendment trumping Article II -

        2. The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was adopted 9 July 1868:

        All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

        The intent and purpose of the (14th) amendment was to provide equal citizenship to all Americans either born on U.S. soil or naturalized therein and subject to the jurisdiction thereof. It does not grant “natural born Citizen” status. It only confers “citizen” status, as that is the exact word used by the Amendment itself and that is the same word that appears in Article I, II, III, and IV of the Constitution. It just conveys the status of “citizen,” and as we learned from how the Framers handled the Naturalization Acts of 1790 and 1795, being a “citizen” does not necessarily mean that one is a “natural born Citizen.”

        The Fourteenth Amendment only tells us who may become members of the community called the United States, i.e., those born on U.S. soil or naturalized and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are U.S. citizens. The amendment was needed because under Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. 393 (1856), slaves and their descendents, whether free or not, were not considered as being members of that community even though born on U.S. soil and unlike the American Indians subject to the jurisdiction thereof. But the amendment only allowed these slaves and their descendents to become a member of the U.S. community by making them U.S. citizens. Once those persons or anybody else (e.g. Wong Kim Ark) so became a member of the U.S. community (became a U.S. citizen by birth on U.S. soil or through naturalization), then that person could join with another U.S. citizen and procreate a child on U.S. soil who would then be an Article II "natural born Citizen."

        Hence, during the Founding, the original citizens created the new Constitutional Republic. Through Article II’s grandfather clause, they were allowed to be President. Their posterity would be the "natural born Citizens" who would perpetuate the new nation and its values. These “natural born Citizens,” born after the adoption of the Constitution, would be the future Presidents.

        Subsequently, a “natural born Citizen” was created by someone first becoming a member of the United States (a U.S. citizen) by birth on its soil to a mother and father who were U.S. citizens or if not so born then through naturalization, and then joining with another similarly created U.S. citizen to procreate a child on U.S. soil. The product of that union would be an Article II “natural born Citizen.”

        After the Fourteenth Amendment, it became sufficient to be a citizen if one were merely born on U.S. soil or naturalized and subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. That U.S. citizen would then procreate with another similarly created U.S citizen and produce a “natural born Citizen.”

        As we can see, becoming a U.S. citizen is only the first step in the process of creating a “natural born Citizen.” The second step is the two U.S citizens procreating a child on U.S. soil. It is these “natural born Citizens” who can someday be President or Vice President of the United States. Stated differently, a President must be a second generation American citizen by both U.S. citizen parents. A Senator or Representative can be a first generation American citizen by naturalization or birth. It is the extra generation carried by a President which assures the American people that he/she is born with attachment and allegiance only to the United States. [SOURCE CREDIT]

        Now, let’s take a look at the Godfather of the 14th amendment and see what he had to say about “born a citizen” vs “natural born citizen” –

        3. Rep. John Bingham, Principal Framer of the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

        During a debate (see pg. 2791) regarding a certain Dr. Houard, who had been incarcerated in Spain, the issue was raised on the floor of the House of Representatives as to whether the man was a US citizen. Representative Bingham (of Ohio), stated on the floor:

        As to the question of citizenship I am willing to resolve all doubts in favor of a citizen of the United States. That Dr. Houard is a natural-born citizen of the United States there is not room for the shadow of a doubt. He was born of naturalized parents within the jurisdiction of the United States, and by the express words of the Constitution, as amended to-day, he is declared to all the world to be a citizen of the United States by birth. (The term “to-day”, as used by Bingham, means “to date”. Obviously, the Constitution had not been amended on April 25, 1872.)

        Notice that Bingham declares Houard to be a “natural-born citizen” by citing two factors – born of citizen parents in the US.

        John Bingham, aka “father of the 14th Amendment”, was an abolitionist congressman from Ohio who prosecuted Lincoln’s assassins. Ten years earlier, he stated on the House floor:

        All from other lands, who by the terms of [congressional] laws and a compliance with their provisions become naturalized, are adopted citizens of the United States; all other persons born within the Republic, of parents owing allegiance to no other sovereignty, are natural born citizens. Gentleman can find no exception to this statement touching natural-born citizens except what is said in the Constitution relating to Indians. - (Cong. Globe, 37th, 2nd Sess., 1639 (1862))

        Then in 1866, Bingham also stated on the House floor:

        Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.... - (Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866))

        According to Justice Black, Bingham’s words uttered on the floor of the House are the most reliable source. Bingham made three statements, none of them challenged on the Floor, which indicate that a natural born citizen is a person born on US soil to parents who were US citizens. [SOURCE CREDIT]

        And of course we’ve all heard the Supreme Court has never ruled on or defined what a “natural born citizen” is, but that is a folly –

        4. Supreme Court cases that cite “natural born Citizen” as one born on U.S. soil to citizen parents:

        The Venus, 12 U.S. 8 Cranch 253 253 (1814)

        Vattel, who, though not very full to this point, is more explicit and more satisfactory on it than any other whose work has fallen into my hands, says: “The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives or indigenes are those born in the country of parents who are citizens. Society not being able to subsist and to perpetuate itself but by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights.

        Shanks v. Dupont, 28 U.S. 3 Pet. 242 242 (1830)

        Ann Scott was born in South Carolina before the American revolution, and her father adhered to the American cause and remained and was at his death a citizen of South Carolina. There is no dispute that his daughter Ann, at the time of the Revolution and afterwards, remained in South Carolina until December, 1782. Whether she was of age during this time does not appear. If she was, then her birth and residence might be deemed to constitute her by election a citizen of South Carolina. If she was not of age, then she might well be deemed under the circumstances of this case to hold the citizenship of her father, for children born in a country, continuing while under age in the family of the father, partake of his national character as a citizen of that country. Her citizenship, then, being prima facie established, and indeed this is admitted in the pleadings, has it ever been lost, or was it lost before the death of her father, so that the estate in question was, upon the descent cast, incapable of vesting in her? Upon the facts stated, it appears to us that it was not lost and that she was capable of taking it at the time of the descent cast.

        Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. 393 (1857)

        The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As society cannot perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their parents, and succeed to all their rights.' Again: 'I say, to be of the country, it is necessary to be born of a person who is a citizen; for if he be born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country. . . .

        Minor v. Happersett , 88 U.S. 162 (1875)

        The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first.

        United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898)

        At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children, born in a country of parents who were its citizens, became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.

        Perkins v. Elg, 307 U.S. 325 (1939),

        was a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States that a child born in the United States to naturalized parents on U.S. soil is a natural born citizen and that the child's natural born citizenship is not lost if the child is taken to and raised in the country of the parents' origin, provided that upon attaining the age of majority, the child elects to retain U.S. citizenship "and to return to the United States to assume its duties." Not only did the court rule that she did not lose her native born Citizenship but it upheld the lower courts decision that she is a "natural born Citizen of the United States" because she was born in the USA to two naturalized U.S. Citizens.

        "But the Secretary of State, according to the allegation of the bill of complaint, had refused to issue a passport to Miss Elg 'solely on the ground that she had lost her native born American citizenship.' The court below, properly recognizing the existence of an actual controversy with the defendants [307 U.S. 325, 350] (Aetna Life Ins. Co. v. Haworth, 300 U.S. 227 , 57 S.Ct. 461, 108 A.L.R. 1000), declared Miss Elg 'to be a natural born citizen of the United States' (99 F.2d 414) and we think that the decree should include the Secretary of State as well as the other defendants. The decree in that sense would in no way interfere with the exercise of the Secretary's discretion with respect to the issue of a passport but would simply preclude the denial of a passport on the sole ground that Miss Elg had lost her American citizenship."

        The Supreme Court of the United States has never applied the term “natural born citizen” to any other category than “those born in the country of parents who are citizens thereof”. [SOURCE CREDIT]

        Let’s take a look at the numerous attempts congress has made over the years to change the definition of Article II even though any educated American knows that to change the constitution in any shape or form a constitutional amendment is required. -

        5. Attempts to redefine or amend Article II “natural born Citizen” Clause of the U.S. Constitution:

        The effort to remove the natural-born citizen requirement from the U.S. Constitution actually began in 1975 – when Democrat House Rep. Jonathon B. Bingham, [NY-22] introduced a constitutional amendment under H.J.R. 33: which called for the outright removal of the natural-born requirement for president found in Article II of the U.S. Constitution – “Provides that a citizen of the United States otherwise eligible to hold the Office of President shall not be ineligible because such citizen is not a natural born citizen.”

        Bingham’s first attempt failed and he resurrected H.J.R. 33: in 1977 under H.J.R. 38:, again failing to gain support from members of congress. Bingham was a Yale Law grad and member of the secret society Skull and Bones, later a lecturer at Columbia Law and thick as thieves with the United Nations via his membership in the Council on Foreign Relations.

        Bingham’s work lay dormant for twenty-six years when it was resurrected again in 2003 as Democrat members of Congress made no less than eight (8) attempts in twenty-two (22) months, to either eliminate the natural-born requirement, or redefine natural-born to accommodate Barack Hussein Obama II in advance of his rise to power. The evidence is right in the congressional record…

        1. On June 11, 2003 Democrat House member Vic Snyder [AR-2] introduced H.J.R 59: in the 108th Congress – “Constitutional Amendment – Makes a person who has been a citizen of the United States for at least 35 years and who has been a resident within the United States for at least 14 years eligible to hold the office of President or Vice President.” – Co-Sponsors: Rep Conyers, John, Jr. [MI-14]; Rep Delahunt, William D. [MA-10]; Rep Frank, Barney [MA-4]; Rep Issa, Darrell E. [CA-49]; Rep LaHood, Ray [IL-18]; Rep Shays, Christopher [CT-4].

        2. On September 3, 2003, Rep. John Conyers [MI] introduced H.J.R. 67: – “Constitutional Amendment – Makes a person who has been a citizen of the United States for at least 20 years eligible to hold the office of President.” – Co-Sponsor Rep Sherman, Brad [CA-27]

        3. On February 25, 2004, Republican Senator Don Nickles [OK] attempted to counter the growing Democrat onslaught aimed at removing the natural-born citizen requirement for president in S.2128: – “Natural Born Citizen Act – Defines the constitutional term “natural born citizen,” to establish eligibility for the Office of President” – also getting the definition of natural born citizen wrong. – Co-sponsors Sen Inhofe, James M. [OK]; Sen Landrieu, Mary L. [LA]

        4. On September 15, 2004 – as Barack Obama was about to be introduced as the new messiah of the Democrat Party at the DNC convention, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher [CA-46] introduced H.J.R. 104: – “Constitutional Amendment – “Makes eligible for the Office of the President non-native born persons who have held U.S. citizenship for at least 20 years and who are otherwise eligible to hold such Office.” – No co-sponsors.

        5. Again on January 4, 2005, Rep John Conyers [MI] introduced H.J.R. 2: to the 109th Congress – “Constitutional Amendment – Makes a person who has been a citizen of the United States for at least 20 years eligible to hold the Office of President.” – Co-Sponsor Rep Sherman, Brad [CA-27]

        6. Rep Dana Rohrabacher [CA-46] tries again on February 1, 2005 in H.J.R. 15: – “Constitutional Amendment – Makes eligible for the Office of the President non-native born persons who have held U.S. citizenship for at least 20 years and who are otherwise eligible to hold such Office.” – No Co-Sponsor

        7. On April 14, 2005, Rep Vic Snyder [AR-2] tries yet again with H.J.R. 42: – “Constitutional Amendment – Makes a person who has been a citizen of the United States for at least 35 years and who has been a resident within the United States for at least 14 years eligible to hold the office of President or Vice President.” – Co-Sponsor Rep Shays, Christopher [CT-4]

        8. All of these efforts failing in committee and the 2008 presidential election looming with an unconstitutional candidate leading the DNC ticket, Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill, [MO] tries to attach the alteration to a military bill in S.2678: on February 28, 2008 – “Children of Military Families Natural Born Citizen Act – Declares that the term “natural born Citizen” in article II, section 1, clause 5 of the Constitution, dealing with the criteria for election to President of the United States, includes any person born to any U.S. citizen while serving in the active or reserve components of the U.S. armed forces.” – Co-Sponsors DNC Presidential candidate Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham [NY]; DNC Presidential candidate Sen Obama, Barack [IL]; Sen Menendez, Robert [NJ]; Sen Coburn, Tom [OK] – (This was the first effort to also assure that GOP Presidential candidate Sen. John McCain [AZ] would be cleared to run against the DNC primary victor.)

        From June 11, 2003 to February 28, 2008, there had been eight (8) different congressional attempts to alter Article II – Section I – Clause V – natural born citizen requirements for president in the U.S. Constitution, all of them failing in committee — All of it taking placing during Barack Obama’s rise to political power and preceding the November 2008 presidential election.

        In politics, there are no coincidences… not of this magnitude.

        Finally on April 10, 2008, unable to alter or remove the natural born citizen requirement to clear the way for Barack Obama, the U.S. Senate acts to shift focus before the election, introducing and passing S.R.511: – declaring Sen. John McCain a “natural born citizen” eligible to run for and hold the office of president. There was never any honest doubt about McCain, the son of a U.S. Navy Commander. The Sponsor of the resolution is Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill, [MO]

        S.R.511 States that John Sidney McCain, III, is a “natural born Citizen” under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States. S.R511 passed by a 99-0 unanimous consent of the Senate, with only John McCain not voting. The basis was – “Whereas John Sidney McCain, III, was born to American citizens;” – a condition not met by Barack Hussein Obama II. – Co-Sponsors DNC Presidential candidate Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham [NY]; DNC Presidential candidate Sen Obama, Barack [IL]; Sen Leahy, Patrick J. [VT]; Sen Webb, Jim [VA]; Sen Coburn, Tom [OK] (They had made certain that John McCain would run against Barack Obama)

        However, in the McCain resolution is also this language – “Whereas the Constitution of the United States requires that, to be eligible for the Office of the President, a person must be a `natural born Citizen’ of the United States; – Whereas the term `natural born Citizen’, as that term appears in Article II, Section 1, is not defined in the Constitution of the United States;

        The U.S. Constitution is not a dictionary. The definition of “is” is not in the constitution either. Yet this is the text that would later be issued in Congressional Research Service talking points memos distributed to members of congress, to protect an individual that all members of congress know and understand to be an “unconstitutional” resident of the people’s White House – Barack Hussein Obama II.

        Once again, as the political left was unable to alter the U.S. Constitution by way of legitimate constitutional process, they resorted to altering the constitution via precedent setting, in short, knowingly electing and getting away with seating an unconstitutional president in order to alter Article II requirements for the office via breaking those constitutional requirements.

        The press would not ask any questions and the American people were already too ill-informed of their constitution to know or too distracted by daily life to care. The press would provide the cover, swearing to the lies of an unconstitutional administration put in power by criminal actors focused only on their lofty political agenda of forever altering the American form of government.

        The people would be caught up in a steady diet of daily assaults on their individual freedom and liberty and overlook the most obvious constitutional crisis in American history, the seating of an unconstitutional and anti-American president. [SOURCE CREDIT]

        I recall do you, Romney was required to file a financial disclosure form, (a less detailed requirement than submitting past tax forms) when he filed for president. He argued that he should not have to release his taxes since the disclosure form revealed everything of any importance. Well, the problem is, there were 23 different investment funds shown on his taxes that did not appear on his disclosure form -- and 11 of those were in overseas, confidential banking
        centers, conceivably a sign of what he's embarrassed to disclose -- if the
        government can prove it was deliberate and not just a careless slip-up. The
        biggest concern is his Swiss bank accounts, one of the items not on his
        financial disclosure. Mitt had it from 2003 to 2010, when his accountant shut
        it down. He closed it in the middle of an amnesty that the IRS had declared for
        owners of previously unreported Swiss bank accounts -- if they came clean, they
        would not face criminal prosecution for not reporting it in previous years
        (which was illegal - plus most weren't paying taxes on that money). Was the
        sudden shutdown of Romney's secret Swiss bank account part of this amnesty
        program? We can't know unless and until he releases prior returns, and by the
        way, he continues to refuse to do provide… Until the former Governor provides
        10 years of tax returns, he’s not to be trusted...Even Governor Christe suggeted you disclose the 10 years of back taxes, we're waiting.

          Romney doesn't have a plan for job creation, he has a past record of downsizing companies, restructuring them which includes jobs to slave markets, he ran a lean olympics with the help of GOVERNMENT subsidizing. He can run on reasonably low unemployment numbers in Mass. so can several Democratic governors at the time.

          Also, yes, Mitt Romney did indeed commit voter fraud in 2010 when he cast a vote for Scott Brown to replace the late Ted Kennedy. Mitt didn't live in Massachusetts at the time (he moved to California) and didn't own property in Massachusetts either. Additionally, he lied on the voter registration form putting an address in the unfinished basement of his son's home as his place of residence. Massachusetts law defines a residence for voter registration purposes as “where a person dwells and which is the center of his domestic, social, and civil life.” Anyone found guilty of committing voter fraud faces up to five years behind bars and a fine of $10,000.

          Mitt may even be disqualified as a candidate if Massachusetts decides to prosecute, and don't think being the former Governor of Massachusetts gives him immunity, we've seen recently that several former governors have been put on trial by the states they served.

          Srich - Google it - Romney's Foreign Policy Team. Just too many articles from all sides to post. I believe the figure is 17 out of 24 at this point. One correction to starsailing, however, they are from both the Bush Sr's and Bush Jr's teams. Scares the crap out of me.               I will vote for Mitt Romney because I'm positive I will have a good job with no worries of being laid off as the economy will fail. Romney knows how to balance the budget and create jobs for all Americans.               That was pretty funny Geowil, in 2008 the greatest thing that swayed the vote in Obama's favor were first time voters- they really showed up. And people disgusted with the direction the country was headed. To win again Obama has to get those same first time voters to show up -again, and convince people the current direction is a positive one. I think both are iffy at best.

                          The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Mitt Romney earning 49% of the vote and President Obama attracting 44% support. Three percent (3%) would vote for a third party candidate, while another three percent (3%) are undecided.

                          Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).

                          The uptick for Romney comes as investor confidence has fallen six points in the wake of last week’s disappointing jobs report. Looking ahead five years, just 44% of Americans believe the nation’s economy will be stronger than it is today. That’s the lowest level of long-term optimism ever measured.

                          Still, it’s important to note that the presidential race has remained very close in recent weeks. Romney has had the advantage on six of the last 12 days, and Obama has held the edge six times. It remains to be seen whether today’s results represent a lasting change or are merely statistical noise. Romney’s support has remained within three points of 46% every day for more than two months. Obama’s numbers have stayed within two points of 45% every day for nearly two months. See tracking history.

                          This is still anybody's race. I feel that the Pres will win re-election, yes it will be close, but he will win.

                          Actually, it's not as tight of a race as you say, it's not anybody's race, it's Obama's. Look deeper into Rasmussen, at their polls that actually matter, the statewide polls in the swing states. Remember, national popular vote, as we learned in 2000, means zilch. We elect presidents through the Electoral College, and on the electoral map, President Obama has a commanding lead. Even Rasmussen's individual state polls show Obama winning the election with 347 electoral votes to 191 for Romney. An electoral landslide!

                          President Obama has all but 43 of the electoral votes he needs to lock 270 in. Romney needs 79. If Obama wins just Ohio, Pennsylvania and Iowa, he has 271 electoral votes. He doesn't even need to win Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada or New Hampshire to win the election, and he's leading Romney in all of them.

                          It won't be over until November. That will be interesting. The emphasis is on the Republican race, but look at the Dem numbers. Some inmate in Texas is carrying 40% of the Dem vote for the nomination, to Obama's 60%, it has to speak volumes of the confidence his own party has in him. And that inmate is in prison, not campaigning, just on the ballot. Very interesting!

                            i think the only way Romney can balalnce a budget he learned at bain and that was laying off workers and he hasnt said or even given a hint on how he will get Americans back to work- and last week when the unemployment numbers came out Romney said he would get 500,000 people jobs a month and a 4% unem,ployment rate, 500k has only been hit 19 times since 1939 but romney says he can do it no problem. just like now he says he helped save the big car makers. Romney is owned by big money and will do there calling he has already signed the Norquist pledge and is behind the ryan plan. so you may have better luck getting ajob with him but it will pay you min wage because thats where big money wants us, at the bottom- and bigben i see you trolling around on these treads all the time, and for the most part always saying the same things over and over- shows no imagination- what can you expect from a 10yo. Obama has his faults but Romney and his cronies will hurt this country and i wont vote for that

                            Romney has been successful at every job he has had. Bain, Olympics, and Governor all true successes.

                            Don't say he failed as Governor. Don't say he ranked 47th in job growth. That is true, but the UR was 4.7% when he left office in 2007. That is considered better than full employment. That is his real record on jobs.

                            Flannan, I think it is safe to say Romney has quite more knowledge and experience about balancing budgets than Obama! Romney actually balanced the budget as Governor of Mass.and left the state with a surplus. Obama can not even present a budget without it getting laughed at and shot down twice by members of both parties!! Where is the budget?? Three years plus and nothing! Yes, that's right, that's what we get from this administration, nothing! FYI!! Romney does have a great plan for getting people back to work that he has been talking about on his campaign trail if you cared to listen. You should google it!!

                              dee- romney balanced mass budget- he took millions in fed earmarks- that helped- he once said a govenor's job is to push for fed money get as much as you can. and as for his plan- like reducing the corporate tax, increase oil drilling(im sure you wouldnt mind an oil well close to you) , or ending Obamacare but replacing it with what? ive been paying into ss for close to 50 years and would like something for my money. and do you have faith in Romney or just have hated Obama for 4 years and want him gone. and as for all these polls people talk about- 6 months to go, anything can happen and people will see the true colors of Mr Romney-- Obama 2012

                              Flanan, Actually, I have faith in Romney because I, unlike many people look at their past records and can make reasonable judgements about their qualifications! Romney has proven success in the Private and Public Sectors. You may not agree with his plan but it is a step in the right direction. Reducing corporate tax rates are neccessary for a business to stay competitive, grow and hire more people (you complain about businesses going overseas to be competitive since they have to be faced with the highest corporate taxes in the world). Second, as much as you want to be in denial of this, we are a nation based on fossil fuels and are still dependent on oil until the market, yes, market obtains the technology for alternate sources but we are not there yet and the Govt. can't force something we are not ready for (witnessed by failures of Solyndra and other other Energy companies). We know it does not work, they should stop trying!! As far as Obamacare, if we proceed with this destructive unsustainable Obamacare, there will be no social security left for you to collect for all the 50 years you worked! This partisan law needs to be repealed and replaced with something that works. So yes, I do have faith in Romney to make the decisions to move forward, not backwards as witnessed by Obama these past 3 years.

                                  Dee- first-look at my name does the 3rd letter really look like a N?Romney doesnt have all that much exp in private or public but lets lok at what he has- he save the Olympics by getting the federal govt to give them 100's of millions dollars, so i guess thats a talent- getting somone else to give money- at Bain-he took companies(some failing and some healthy) and downsized them, selling off big chunks and making bain and himself lots of money and thats good i guess -the American way-screw the other guy right? and i admit we need fossil fuels but at what cost? Obama has increased drilling , more than Bush, just not on govt lands, so you think the answer is to drill even more regardless of whaere and conquesence? and as for solyandra and other energy sources not working so stop trying- i try not to be rude on theses threads but that stratement is ignorant- if we always stop doing or trying new things simply because they fail a few times- we would probably still be living in caves. i think other energy sources are the answer but doubt it will happen in my life but it may help my kids and grandkids. and your right Obamacare has some flaws in it but we need something and that could of been fixed , by the way you do know that the mandate was the repub idea back from the 80's, and Obama got suckered in to it although maybe he put it in on purpose so it would fail, who knows. and i dont think we have been moving backwards for 3 years, Obama did start out in a massive hole left by Bush and it got deeper but its gonna take time- my parents lived thru the depression and it took many years to bounce back. your faith is in Romney but there is something in him i dont trust

                                  Heck, Dee for President! Athos, I remember working for minimum wage when I was going to school, in fact I worked 3 jobs at one time. There is something to be said for people scraping by, working their tails off and having "work ethic" rather than sitting on their ever expanding rear ends angry at the world and expecting to be taken care of. The mindset of "something for nothing" must end. This is my greatest objection to Obama and the liberal mindset.

                                  Yes, many people remind us on these posts that Romney used federal resources to help save the Olympics. These resources were available to him at the time and he took advantage of them to save something big that needed saving. That is smart business to me, he made it happen and it worked! As far as Bain is concerned, I see nothing wrong with turning around businesses that are doomed to fail into something successful that will create jobs. Why do people have a problem with this? If a business is doomed to fail due to a bad business model, they have a right to fail, it was inevitable that these employees would be out of a job. This is a fact of life in any company that fails, they go out of business and people get layed off. This happens all the time, people move on! Why is it more of a problem when it happens to a company associated with Bain?.

                                  The fact that Obama increased drilling is a myth. We know very well if drilling increased, it has nothing to do with Obama but they are the result of permits that were released during the Bush administration. And yes, I do believe in alternative energy exploration but is now, during a recession the best time to spend money we don't have on something we are not ready for? C'mon now, we have to be realistic about this.

                                  I will continue to have faith in Romney because you have to know our country is headed in the wrong direction as witnessed by endless polls and we need major change before we head ourselves to a path of destruction (we are almost there under Obama). We need someone who knows how the economy works and Romney has proven by his record and past experiences that he does.

                                      Srich, thanks for the compliment. True what you say about today's work ethic. What I witnessed recently on the Hannity show is telling about the mentality of today's generation. The other night Sean Hannity on FOX had an OWS activist on the show and he was complaining about going to college, having to pay off student loans and not being able to find a job. The next day Hannity said he offered this guy a job at the studio and he turned it down because the job must pay between 80,000 to 100,000 for it to be worth his while. So I guess it's better for him to sit on his butt and be angry at the world than take a job at a presitgious studio because it did not meet his salary requirements that he thinks he deserves. This is the mentality we are dealing with in today's society. Very Sad!
