President Obama and the first lady hit the campaign trail on Saturday in key battleground states. NBC's Brian Moor reports.
RICHMOND, Va. — President Obama launched his bid for a second term Saturday by working to mobilize supporters with a forward-looking message in the face of challenges that include sluggish economic recovery.
The question facing voters, he told a boisterous crowd during the second stop on the official launch of his re-election campaign, isn't whether Americans are better off today than four years ago. "The real question," he said, is "how we’ll be doing tomorrow."
Obama tried to accomplish this in two ways: Seeking to rekindle the enthusiasm surrounding his 2008 candidacy, and sending stark warnings about what it would mean if his presumptive Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, were elected.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama wave at a campaign event May 5 in Richmond, Va.
The word ‘Forward’ printed on placards was held by the crowds at both rallies, a kind of 2.0 version of the ‘hope and change’ theme that propelled the Obama campaign in 2008. The crowds at each were loud and enthusiastic, though the Romney campaign was quick to note that the Columbus arena wasn't filled to capacity. Both crowds were heavy on students, and the Richmond rally had a number of African-Americans in attendance, reflecting the area's large black population.
Analysis: Obama re-election launch seeks to define stakes of campaign
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said Saturday: "No matter how many lofty campaign speeches President Obama gives, the fact remains that American families are struggling on his watch: to pay their bills, find a job and keep their homes.”
That statement came because the former Massachusetts governor found himself on the receiving end of a broadside by the president on Saturday, one that took aim at a cornerstone of Romney's campaign, his claim of economic competence.
"When a woman in Iowa shared the story of her financial struggles, he responded with economic theory," Obama said, painting Romney as out-of-touch.
"Corporations aren't people, people are people!" Obama later added, dredging up Romney's quote at the Iowa state fair, when he compared corporations to individuals.
The election may hinge on the economy, but Obama's first formal day of campaigning suggested he won't cede that issue to Romney. He and the first lady both played to broad middle class frustration about diminishing social mobility.
"It's that fundamental promise that no matter who you are or how you started out—if you work hard, you can build a decent life for yourself and yes, an even better life for your kids, and an even better life for your kids," First Lady Michelle Obama said in Columbus.
There was much about Obama's campaign launch that seemed familiar from his 2008 campaign.
He said he was still "fired up" and "ready to go," drawing on a campaign slogan from his last election. His two stops on Saturday were in Columbus, Ohio and Richmond, Va. — the state capitals of two crucial swing states Obama had won against Sen. John McCain. And two staple blocs of Obama's 2008 coalition, those young voters and black voters, showed up in throngs for this weekend's events.
He sought, in no uncertain terms, to draw a line from their effort that year to this fall's campaign, taking strides to remind them of the accomplishments in the meanwhile — his health care law, Wall Street reform, winding down the war in Iraq and killing Osama bin Laden, among other initiatives.
Melissa Harris-Perry and her panelists discuss President Obama's new campaign slogan of "forward," and how Republicans are reacting to his message.
"I didn’t run, and you didn’t work your hearts out, just to win an election," Obama said in Richmond.
He added, toward the end of his remarks: "If people ask you ‘what’s this campaign about?’ you tell them it’s still about hope. You tell them it’s still about change."
But the heady optimism from 2008 has been tempered, namely by an anemic economic recovery. The April jobs report found the U.S. economy added 115,000 jobs last month, falling below expectations and suggesting that the pace of hiring has slowed.
Perhaps in recognition of the new political reality, Obama dropped the gloves versus Romney and sharply criticized the former Massachusetts governor, linking him also to a deeply unpopular Republican House of Representatives.
"For the last few years, the Republicans who run this Congress have insisted that we go right back to the policies that created this mess in the first place," Obama said. "And now, after a long and spirited primary, Republicans in Congress have found a champion — they have found a nominee for president who has promised to rubber-stamp this agenda if he has the chance."
It might not have been the lofty rhetoric that drew so many admirers to Obama in 2008, but these new, sharper themes in this campaign still resonate with the president's most ardent supporters.
"I'm just as enthusiastic as the last time, because I think it's going to be a race between an average joe and a multimillionaire," said Marc René of Richmond, an emigre from Haiti in 1994 who works at a local nonprofit.
"My wife and I work, we have great careers, but we still try to make end's meet. We don't have a net worth of $280 million dollars," he said.
Meaghan Mcinnis of Richmond, a relatively recent college graduate who lost one of her first jobs out of school before finding a new one, attended the rally with her friend Jamie Dalton. Both women said they feared the notion of Republican-led "war on women" aggressively messaged by Democrats.
"I feel like there are much bigger issues, and I don't appreciate that 50 and 60-year-old men are making decisions for my 20-something-year-old body," said Mcinnis.

How can you start something you've been doing for 3 1/2 years. Obama never stopped campaigning from the day he got in the WH. If anyone disagreed with his policies, we were called racists. Time to end this joke of a President.
Yep, he is just doing what every politician that is elected. They all do it. And as for a joke of a President, ask bin Laden, oh you can't, can you? Do you really think etchy sketchy will do any better? No matter who is elected in the oval office, until congress changes their ways, it won't get better.
SallyAnn, yes, I 100% believed Mitt Romney will do much better than the divider-in-chief.
Military took care of Bin Laden not Obama!
Just like the military took care of Iran Hostage Crisis, not Jimmy Carter ....Right?
So, Corporations are people, right? Romney is a fool. He only knows about Corporations (firing employees and destroying Companies) and has no knowledge about everyday people. People are People, not Corporations. If he's elected he'll take us right back to the "good old Bush" days. 700,000 jobs lost a month. Year after year of job loses. Women may just as well move out of the Country because all your personal rights you've earned over the last 30 years will be striped away. You'll surrender your body and mind to a bunch of dirty old men who still believe a woman's job is just to be, and stay, barefoot and pregnant.
If that's what you want, than vote for Romney and suffer the consequences.
Obama in 2012.

SO if President Obama campaigns, it's wrong.. when it was Former President Bush it was okay???
roc1960 -
Question: Who is commander and chief of the military? Answer: President Obama.
Question: Who authorized the capture of Bin Laden? Answer: President Obama.
Question: Who did President Obama THANK: Answer: 1st call from the situation room was to former President Bush. The call was to thank his administration for the work they started with Bin Laden.
Question: Who thanked the Military for the role? Answer: President Obama
Summary = Bin Laden is gone. Who won? The American People and the World.
Obama/Biden 2012.
The Navy Seals Team 6 took out Bin Laden on the command of the Navy Admiral. Obama was golfing..remember? He had to run to the White House....to see what was going on. Obama didn't do anything but pat himself on the back.
And the Navy Seals have asked Obama to stop using them as his ammunition. Thank God for the policies set forth by the Bush Administration. Seems Obama loves to use them.
Let's see, saved the American auto industry, and over a million jobs. Bush was losing 750,000 Jobs a month as he left, turned it around 26 consecutive months of private sector job growth. Yes private. The lowest tax rates in 50 years.
Bin Laden, gone, Ghaddify, gone, along most of the al Qaida leadership. Stock market rose from 7000 to over 13000. Brought the troops out of Iraq. Not even counting, the Somali pirates and hostages rescued. More illegals deported than any other president, EVER.
Really, people who watch faux newz know less than 4 year olds.
Considering that one of Obama's largest voting pools have a 50% plus high school drop out rate, you have little room to talk about illiterates!!!
DownTownJulieBrown - Once again, who is commander and chief of the Military?
Go read the United States Constitution...
Amazes me how uneducated people are in the United States. No Wonder we are slipping in comparison to the rest of the world.
The Constitution. I know what it says.....but seems Obama - who is suppose to be a constitutional lawyer...doesn't know...or better yet...doesn't care.
Obama was too busy playing golf...remember?
Obama's been pretending its 2008 for his entire presidency- when his airy speeches were enough to convince people that he was "the one". Now?
Well, consider this- he appeared on college campuses in both election years. Funny thing- last time, there were overflow crowds. Yesterday? In one event, 14,000 showed up- at a venue built to hold 18,000. (not surprisingly, the empty seats were all in the top tier- out of camera range).
His second event was no sell out, either.
Romney has the acumen and temperament for the job- I doubt we'll see petty gestures, like telling democrats "I won", as Obama did with republicans when discussing the stimulus. I doubt Romney will go out of his way to insult our closest allies- as Obama did, consistently, with the Brits- up to and including making an ass of himself by attempting to insult them by referring to the Falkland Islands as the Malvinas, (the preferred name of the Argentinians), but, instead, calling them the Maldives- a sovereign island nation half a world away.
I have absolute confidence that Romney will not refer to every accomplishment as "mine", nor will every third word of his speeches be "I", "me", or "myself". He will not seek to blame everybody and his brother for his falling short of achieving his goals, but will use the knowledge gained to avoid future failures.
It goes without saying that he will not blame voters for being too stupid to understand how brilliant he is, or for rejecting his forcing on them programs they do not want.
That does not mean he will not make hard decisions- he will. My own governor, Christie, got plenty of backlash for cutting the state budget. The result? Today, his approval rating is 59%- and liberals, who howled about the poor being thrown off cliffs, starving babies, cats sleeping with dogs- the full liberal wail- now claim that he did not, really, cut anything.
Right.
The same will go with however much of the Ryan plan is implemented- at first, there will be angst, as the media breathlessly tells us that life as we know it is about to end. When that does NOT happen, and voters see the improvements, we will be told that nothing, really, was cut.
It also bears remembering that, as a successful businessman, Romney is a skilled negotiator. Therefore, when negotiating with antagonistic nations, he will have a clear goal to achieve. His entire policy will not depend on those antagonists swooning before his self-professed charms.
And Obama will run again in 2016. Fine by me, just so long as
Obama shelved in 2012.
DownTownJulieBrown
LOL yes he does. Thank you for admitting that the capture of Bin Laden was done under President Obama. It was his authorization that allowed the Military to act. I think he knows a bit more about constitutional law than you do.
Oh wait, you mean the President is not allowed to have a personal life? Isn't it amazing that Former President Bush spent 487 days at Camp David? He spent 181 days on his ranch in Texas at a cost of 124 million to the American People. Oh but wait, if President Obama does something similar its wrong?
:).
I will say, when the President (whoever that is) they are never really on vacation or able to take the 'day' off.
If you still believe that Obama is going to make things better, you need a lot more than "Hope and Change' .....
Tony-718521 -
Where are your facts? Did you get them from Faux news? Another whiner...

Your nuts if you think that Carter took care of the hostage crisis !!!
Reagan took care of the hostage crisis. He simply told the Ayatoejam Kookamunda that if he didn't turn our people loose, he was coming to to get them with the US military.
Kookamunda knew Reagan meant it and released the hostages shortly after Reagan was sworn into office !
Crisis soloved by a GOP President with a backbone !
All Carter would have done was ask Rossy," Honey, what shall we do next?"

If you EVER believed Mitt "Wall St." Romney is even going to try to make things better for anyone but the wealthiest, you need help.
$5 trillion in new debt in 3 1/2 years. I was pissed off at Bush spending 4 trillion in 8 years. During the summer of 2007. Little Barry said that President Bush was "unpatriotic" for the debt his administration had accumulated and Little Barry promised to do something about it. He did. He outspent Bush. We cannot afford 4 more years of this. Vote for people who pledge to reduce the debt and hold them to it.
As I seem to recall, the SPIRIT of the 2008 Campaign was Feed'em BS & Tell'em What They Want To Hear. And now we can expect "More Of The Same".
In 3 1/2 yrs. Obama's had 5 vacations, climaxed the federal budget while spending more than $4,000,000,000,000.00. Worse yet, to kick-off this nightmare Obama had the most expensive and elaborate presidential inauguration the American public has ever witnessed, and all this occurred during the worse economic times since the great depression.
The CHANGE fools voted for was to exponentially grow the size of government, instill socialized medicine because of 10% of the population (the other 90% got the shaft), and oh yea, TAX THE RICH, they're going to pay for it. How original.
Actually, he has spent much less than Bush... take a look, his first budget was over $100 billion LESS than Bush's last and his revenues were smaller as well (2009 budget was passed Oct 2008)
http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxfacts/displayafact.cfm?Docid=200
A driving cause of our debt is war, tax cuts, and depressed revenue due to Bush's recession
You're right, taxing the rich is NOT ORIGINAL, its actually quite historical and what used to make this country great. Historically LOW taxes are the problem, people used to understand the cost of the opportunity to be successful in this country was PAYING it back when you got there.
Divider they call Obama? Was it not the GOP who met on his inauguration night to oppose everything that the man tried? He came to office with 2 wars and a Drug entitlement that the GOP DID NOT FUND. Give me a break.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
All I can do is laugh at the hysteria & hand wringing over the 14,000 people who took time out of their Saturday to stand in line for a seat inside to support OUR President...
Compare a diverse crowd of 14,000 against a couple of hundred white folks who Willard has to bribe with No-Doze to come listen to him...
Only goes to prove one thing Willard can NOT buy is enthusiasm!
Forward NOT Fear Mongering!
Obama/Biden 2012
Divider in Chief? HA hA ha!!! The only people dividing this country are the separatist mentalities of the teapublican't party. Their stance against gays, non Christians and anti immigration (except if they are from Russia or white immigrants but get those Mexicans outa here) is what is dividing this country.
Rather than working with this president to get thing down right to fix problems they obstruct and block any progress made.
Call it what you want but we see you for what you are, if your hate for one man is stronger than your love for your country to were you do not want positive change to occur than maybe you should move to another country.
Oh did you not hear that the republicans back only high spending on military and government and yet call helping the poor socialism. Hey news flash I can think of a few countries that believe in high military spending and don't give two figs about the poor, North Korea and Iran come to mind why don't you people move there instead.
You teapublicants claim you r sooooo patriotic when it comes to standing up for the constitutions but you think the freedom of religion needs to be revised and have a problem with anyone who is anything but straight, white and Christian, ohhh but when it comes to gun rights in the Constitution you fight tooth and nail about that, you can not have it both ways.
I have seen time and time again from numerous people complain about the Hippocrates coming from the right and the most insane thing is that it is so friggin obvious that they are Hippocrates and yet they do do not change their ways.
God forbid you bring up the years and years of mess ups from the Republicants and they will argue excuse after excuse with rhetoric and cheap talking points even adding fiction to their arguments as if they are not responsible for this long drawn out economic mess to begin with in the first place.
The best reason to vote out Obama, is to rid us all of the inept, idiot savants, that work for him. People that demonstrate time and again how clueless they are about accomplishing anything.
The he should have ended the damn war if he was concerned over the debt. He owns this economy and the debt accumulated under his watch. The bank bailouts, auto industry bailouts, Solyndra et al. What I detest about this president is that it is always somebody elses fault.
ItsAboutTime-3704531 Obama may be a constitutional lawyer and if that be true then it just recently violated the constitution...He signed into law the "Federal Restricted Builings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011", and I suggest you look it up...It gives the Secret Service the right to arrest you and charge you with a FELONY if you, be it peacefully, protest or demonstrate in an area near any person who is protected by the secret service...A felony is a minimum of 1 year and 1 dayl in prison, and with a felony conviction your life is ruined....The law violates the first amendment by restricting your freedom of speech and your right to demonstrate....So do you still think he is so great?
And the reason I detest teabagger is their complete lack of reality...
1. He did end one war, though his Afghan policies are very hard to defend.
2. If you remember he is concerned about the debt in terms of paying for it, republican only want to stop adding to it, which Obama agrees with...but the question is how are we going to pay for the debt we already have?
3. Bank bailouts? Please list Obama's bank bailouts because I remember the republican filibustering over a self funded Bailout account in Dodd-Frank that they had removed...
4. Auto bailout, I know, good job Obama way to save 1,000,000+++ manufacturing and transportation jobs
5. Solyndra? Too bad he was trying to help out green energy market, guess we should just keep sucking on Big Oils teet...
He will take credit were credit is due, Osama is dead and GM is alive...
We should be so lucky to return to the Bush years BDCC, Before Democrat Control of Congress. Unemployment was 4.4% and the national debt was about $5 Trillion less; hard not to prefer that to what we have today.
It's funny that republicans call Obama divider and chief.
They are the ones that totally obstructed his agenda from the start. His policies, his picks for staff, remember all of that?
Boehner walking away from the 4 trillion dollar deal that would have prevented the Tea Party downgrade.
It's the republicans that are the dividers, not Obama.
Then by all means post here what the democrats passed in One year that caused a WORLDWIDE ECONOMIC collapse and what Bush did in 8 years, 7 with Republican control, to thwart it. GO ahead...
Eric - thanks for the reminder!
One thing is certain – they will not be able to run on the “Country First” BS this time around!
And here I thought we sent representatives to DC for the betterment of the country.
Instead we get a bunch of rich old white guys sitting in a smoke filled room plotting to overthrow a duly elected President!
Nice... real nice
Speaking of Frank Luntz - I see him tossing the Jimmy Carter talking point out to the sheep has been highly effective!
Hey we now live in Cost Rica, in a beautiful beachfront home (paid for with hard earned money) got cash in the bank, no debt and living large, occasionally tour to Europe and NY to play in the finest concert halls in the world, so I'm cool and perfectly content with my life.
However, look at all these posts ..... It's no wonder the USA is going nowhere and never will with Obama running the show. So, follow your leader to 'nowhere' ...... he's probably riding high in the sky on Air Force One, he loves burning $181,700 per hour of your money flying his family and Oprah on expensive vacations, hopefully he won't come to Costa Rica and ruin paradise here for us.
Good luck to you Obama suckers ....! Now, there's your 'Hope' and keep the 'Change'
Obama/Bin Laden 2012
And the debt clock ticks.

I like Mitt on a personal level and I think he is a fairly moderate individual. The problem with electing him is that he will be bound by the bigger money that will own, enslave and pull his puppet strings and with the radical followers of the destroy America and create a wealth Kingdom of dominionist and elitists that control congress, it would radically change the course of American policies and creat such an upset of balance that Occupy Movements would look like Zen protests. Nope, Romney can not win the election. The radical, hate mongering followers of the Ayn Rand philosophy must leave office in 2012, 2014 and 2016. A vote for a republican is a vote against 99% of America. Don't be a Republican Groupie. You'll only get gang raped and abused and left by the side of the road as the tour bus pulls off into the red sunset sky filled with pot ash and acid rain.
The REAL question is "Can we afford 4 more years of Obama?"
The Deficits for Obama's first 4 years will be $5,326 Billion (2012 proj), vs only $820 Billion for Bush's first 4 years (2001-2004) - that's more than 6 times as much as 'big-spender' Bush.
Here's the official Obama White House link to verify - See Table 1.3;
http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals
On the Jobs picture, the average number of jobs for 2008 was 136,790,000 (including job losses at the end of 2008).
After Obama's third year (2011), that has dropped to 131,359,000 – that's a LOSS under Obama of 5,431,000 net average jobs.
Here's the Link to official Bureau of Labor Statistics site on employment to verify - Compare jobs for 2011 vs 2008;

Ahhh - the vacation rhetoric again! Let's put it in a little perspective, shall we?
@ We The Corproartions
We are divided by ideology sir. You should know that I am not a Tea Party member but a registered independent who voted for Hope and Change last time and instead got the previous administration on steroids. Nothing either of us can say will change the other's mind. I want less government because big government is destroying my small business. I am drowning in regulations and red tape. Vote your conscience, I wish you well not evil.
Forward..... With Blame
ItsAboutTime-3704531 you must be a democrat plant trying to defend the Obama which is indefensible.
Take your comments and go start your own country, i know thats what you want.
Obama kills one man and he is our saviour?
So that is the highlight of his 4 years in office?
He doesn't even live up to the promises he made to you leftist democrats in 2008, so why do you defend him?
Oh, I am sorry, he has come thru with one promise, gas is almost over $5.00/gal.
Bush may have spent alot of time at the ranch, but at least he had security in place and didn't have to take hundreds of people with him like Michelle did when she took her "American Royalty" tour to Africa. When Obama was first on the scene on Oprah, he mentioned the Trinity Church, so I googled it. The page was dark and professed it was a black congregation (racist) who pledged their allegiance to Africa. That must have stoked her ego to go there as queen. After the election, the entire site was redone and made bright and welcoming. Smoke and mirrors, and the foolish fell for it. Not again.
Me too... and I will do it again simply because we only have two choices. 1) A moderate democrat like Obama or 2) A religious fundamentalist whose economic views are that of a vulture capitalist that DESTROYED our economy to begin with.
Who are you going to vote for, being an independent?
1/20/13 THE END OF AN ERROR
Moderate????......Are you nuts? Truman and Kennedy were moderate Democrats; this guy is a far left extremist who wants to turn us into a Eurpean "socialist democarcy"! Moderate...bwahahaha!
stan-3871705 Says:
Here is the actual BILL and sponsored by: Rep. Thomas Rooney [R-FL16]
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hr347
So, first.. a republican sponsored this bill. Does that mean he is in violation of the constitution? If it does, let's start by arresting him for treason.
I read through this bill, how does it violate my freedom of speech? Nice try..
jb-799024
I am not a democrat plan.. I am a registered democrat. I vote for who I think will do the best job, and clearly, President Obama has my vote. I refuse to vote for a GOP candidate that wants to limit the civil rights of women and tell them what they can and cannot do with their bodies.. and GOP zealots who push their corporate agenda and religious (and lack of) family values on my life.
NO, I am standing up for my country and my rights. Amendment #1 = Bill of Rights, Freedom of Speech.
You mean the United States's #1 Terrorist that is responsible for killing thousands of innocent people on our own soil and around the world? The same one former President Bush called the biggest threat to world peace? Obama is only finishing what President Bush Started. No more no less.
LOL no, there are a lot more. I am better off now than I was 4 years ago, that's all I need to know for starters.
Please reply with a detailed accounting of all the promises that Obama has made and he did not fulfill. When you do, I will reply to each one.
LOL, and let's see.. When former president bush said he could do nothing about the cost of a gallon of gas, that was okay? When the Republican say it's because of the laws of supply and demand.. when they say speculators have nothing to do with it, and the 4 billion dollar tax subsidy has nothing to do with the cost of a gallon of gas it's okay right........
Please give me a detailed accounting of exactly what President Obama should do here to stop the rising cost of gas. Then, write every single member of Congress with your plan and see if you can get them to agree with you.
More whining and complaining...
spider-737231 - Please give me a detailed accounting of how President Obama is a socialist... I am on the edge of my seat
Crystal-569996
LOL oh really... So its okay for former President Bush to spend 124 MILLION dollars, take 181 days of vacation on his ranch, and 478 days on his ranch, but Obama can't take any vacation? Nice double standard.
Additional, do some research before you point the finger at Mrs Obama. So far, my research indicates she has PAID for the majority of her vacation time:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/08/us/politics/08vacation.html?_r=2
How many "goodwill" trips to former First Lady Laura Bush take? How many did she pay for? Oh wait, its only wrong if The Obama's do things.. but not anyone else.
Sad argument... but thanks for the laugh :-).
@We the Corporations. Who will I vote for? I can only say that it will not be for Obama. The only way my business can survive is to vote for whoever pledges to make government smaller and less intrusive. The Occupy crowd hates big business but by and large they support liberal candidates who love excessive regulations, red tape and high taxes. The only companies capable of surviving that recipe are the very large companies that can absorb the cost. My only hope of surviving is to have someone in office who understands business and especially small business. President Obama obviously does not. That does not make him a bad man in my eyes, simply one who is ill suited for the job.
stan-3871705
Bush did that in 2004 during the campaign without it being a law. Were you upset then?
@ Its About time
socialism n.
a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
In other words"Spread the wealth" ....Dont forget all the communist marxist people that were chased out of Obamas wing like "Katrina Vanden Heuvel (marxist) Robert Reich ( Communist socialist) Miti Saith (Obama aid) And we cant forget Van Jones! (Marxist socialist communist)...All former aids of Obama that were pushed out by mostly Glenn Beck! And dont forget "COMMON PURPOSE" in which Obama is in full favor of! and its a full Socialist-Marxist Organization.
So did you fall out of your seat yet????
Nope... I have yet to see where President Obama is "Spreading" The wealth among est all Americans. Can you show me where he has done this? Because if he is I sure missed out on my piece of it. How much did you get from this directly? I do see how the Republicant's have managed to make the gap between the rich and poor grow more over the last 20 years though..
Nice try.. but he is not a socialist or a Marxist. Thanks for playing. You can pick up your complimentary republicant prize at the door on your way out :-).
Interesting that they "filled" the 20,000 seat stadium with 14,000 people. WOW!
In 2008, they had 35,000 attending the rally and were predicting an overflow situation there. Sort of like the "Summer of Recovery," promise to "focus like a laser beam" on the economy, unemployment will not exceed 8%, or submitting a budget in 2011 that was rejected by the Democratically controlled Senate 97-0. All predictions that have fallen flat.
Looks like CHANGE to me, just not the change Obama was hoping for.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
This failure of a President just made a secret trip to Afghanistan and committed the U.S. to 10 additional years of support after the 2014 withdrawal.

OK, so by that same logic:
Lincoln had nothing to do with emancipation
Truman had nothing to do with Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Eisenhower had nothing to do with the Interstate freeway system
Nixon had nothing to do with Watergate
Reagan had nothing to do with Grenada
George H.W. Bush had nothing to do with Panama
Heck, you could even claim:
Hitler had nothing to do with the holocaust
Bin Laden had nothing to do with 9/11
Your logic is flawed.

The "Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011" you're harping on changed exactly one thing: instead of it being a felony to "willingly and knowingly" enter a restricted/secured area, they removed the "willingly" part so now it's just "knowingly" only. Didn't change the punishment level. Didn't shred freedom of expression. The original law before this minor modification you chose to scream about was designed as a simple common-sense security measure. Did you rail like this against the George W. Bush administration's "designated protest areas" (usually long distances away from whatever was being protested)? If you didn't already know about that, then look it up. If you did already know about that, then shame on you for being a hypocrite.
no joe, no bo, nj
1) You don't want to argue crowd size for public speaking as some yardstick for measuring candidates' popularity when your guy, Romney, pulls down less than half what his opponent does in a similarly-sized venue, and; 2) Of course the empty seats were in the top tier, you fool. Do you go to events and sit in the back when there's no assigned seating and there's plenty of room closer in?
You might also want to cite some sources regarding Obama "consistently" insulting the Brits. I actually read news from the U.K. and I have seen NOTHING to support your claim. PS: I've actually looked at the Ryan plan and read over several different groups' analyses of it. Here's what it actually does: cut Medicare spending, increase the military budget, cut taxes for the wealthy, and raise taxes on the middle and lower classes. Except for the cutting of Medicare spending (which it takes too far), everything else I just listed is neither wanted nor needed by anyone but wealthy conservatives and ignorant fools who don't know any better. Anything else it's purported to do is vague, undetailed twaddle. Don't believe me? Take a look at it yourself, but don't just sit there on this thread trying to feed people a dog turd while claiming it's really a nutritious burrito, especially if you haven't even smelled it yourself.

Newsflash regarding the Iran hostage crisis: The Iranians were already going to release the hostages by 1981. The only thing Reagan did was ask them to delay the release until after his inauguration in order to make himself look good. Oh, and then he made nice by illegally selling them a bunch of arms, but we don't like to talk about that...
goldcoast007
This is a steaming load of bad reasoning. A relative amount of wealth and prestige is necessary to BECOME president, but that wealth is NOT what makes a good president. Romney has already demonstrated that he lacks the resolve or backbone to stand among giants of American history, thus far only having committed himself to being a rubber-stamp for right-wing policy, good or bad. Thanks, but I want a president who thinks and makes his own decisions, popular or not.
Sebastian-2869791
Um, he HAS been ending "the damn wars (plural)" much to the dismay and chagrine of the right-wing chickenhawks who constantly squawk about what a mistake it is to do so. Starting a war is a virtually instantaneous process (thanks, W!), ending a war isn't (thanks a LOT, W!). The bailouts -- for which the right was fully in favor under W's watch -- were at worst a necessary lesser evil (as opposed to the ruin from the utter collapse of the economy that WOULD have occurred), and Solyndra is one tiny drop of fail in a bucket of relative successes, and little more than a right-wing dead-horse talking point that pales in comparison to the economic disasters delivered to us courtesy of the right. I'll take a Solyndra-sized mistake over an Enron or Halliburton-sized one ANY day.
Syn Holliday
Listing this like it's separate from the Patriot Act (which you cite below) is disorganized at best, disingenuous at worst.
Continuation? Hardly. I'll take winding down the wars in progress, actually accounting for said wars on the books, and the comparatively inexpensive, coalition-approved action Obama has taken in Libya over attacking Iraq over trumped-up baloney and keeping it off the books like Bush did any day.
I'm pretty sure that's the same guy who was given no choice since legislating an effective replacement act has proven impossible with the right-wing opposition pissing on his shoes and tell him, "No," every time he tries anything.
Have you actually READ section 1021 of the NDAA? It falls under the provisions of the AUMF regarding the Iraq war and terrorism. Unless you're directly involved in either you're just crying "Wolf!" for no reason.
Not for lack of trying. Stymied by Republicans... Next!
Your point being... what? That the propping up of the economy in the face of utter collapse was a bad thing? If you're arguing degree, you need to be more specific. Otherwise you're just blathering.
I'd ask you to cite examples, but somehow I don't think you'll bother. Not to mention the fact that for all their failings, neither Romney nor Obama has even come close to sounding as stupid as Sarah Palin, not even accidentally.
Load of bunk. If this were true, nobody would have an opinion on which candidate will better handle the economy because it wouldn't matter.
Such as? You're really straying into la-la land here making such ridiculous claims without any credible sources to back them up so far...
This is possible (proof would be nice), but given Obama's policy stance regarding the wealthy in this country, explain how this is damning. Difficulty: try to avoid the term "class warfare."
If you're talking about ANZUS, that's been in place since the 1980s. Even then this just smacks of conspiracy theory quackery. Australia has their own troops. How about some sources/proof? Somehow, I doubt you have any.
Republicans are so canned, corny and yesterday's old jokes and news. End of an error. C'Mon. It's 2012. 2017 is more like the date folks.
I have been extremely concerned about the direction and future of our country, especially for my children's sake. Over the course of the last three years, it has been frustrating to see President Obama make so many decisions and implement policies that are detrimental to our country.
Today, our country seems more divided than ever in recent times, in terms of race, socio-economics, gender, etc. You can watch TV, read the news, or review simplistic explanations that try to explain the President's actions, decisions and policies. But after careful analysis, I believe his re-election would have grave and detrimental effects on our country, and the country that we leave our children and their children.
And the talking heads at "Faux" news had nothing to do with the division with their poisonous rhetoric. Congressional leaders from the Republican party who refuse to compromise for the good of our country had nothing to do with this division.
And I applaud "Obamacare". I applaud Dodd-Frank! I shudder at the thought of a Republican led administration. No more EPA. No more Dept. of Education. Over ride of Roe v. Wade. No more Social Security. No more Medicare. Equal pay? No Ma'am! Please go back into the kitchen like a good Christian and remain barefoot and pregnant because we are going after birth control too with our "Personhood Amendment". Yeah Jody, let's go back to the Dark ages.
Well, if you look back at the last three years you can pretty much see what happened.
After getting elected, Obama, who indicated he wanted to work with Republicans, went after the most divisive issue he could find, health care. He should have started with small steps, easier issues that both parties could come to an agreement on, to build up the trust, respect, and ability to listen for both sides. Rahm Emmanual's "take no prisoners", "no holds barred approach" was just plain anti-productive, which is why he is gone.
Now, what Obama actually did was push through a health care plan that totally alienated the Republicans. Politically, this was the breaking point for co-operation, and there was no going back after this. Any hope of bi-partisan agreement was dashed against the rocks right there.
The other item that lost him political capital was unemployment and falling home prices. At three years into his administration he decided to do something other than continually extending unemployment benefits to get people back to work. Today, the jobs picture is still bleak, though the numbers show slight improvement.
Homes are still a problem. many are "underwater" on their homes, meaning their mortgage is more than the value of the home. Foreclosures are still going on at a fast pace. There is no relief for the homeowners yet in sight.
Our economy is driven by consumption, not supply. Thus, you don't see business expending capital to bring more products to market out of concern that the market lacks buyers. The problem now is that business is conserving capital, waiting on the market.
Business is waiting for consumers to indicate they are ready to spend. The FED has kept interest down in hopes of luring people into borrowing to fuel consumption, but with job instability and home mortgage worries, it's just not happening.
Overall, that's why we are where we are today. Total gridlock in Washington, unable to come to a compromise over changing a light bulb. The divisions were deep under Bush, have gone deeper under Obama, and frankly, I don't see them becoming better under any President.
We have polorized politically into Rahm Emmanual's dream, a "take no prisoners", "No holds barred" partisan war zone. One in which the needs of the country are secondary to the egos of the political participants.
I agree, I wish he would STOP basing soooo many of his policies on republican ideology like Romneycare, tax cuts as stimulus, escalation of war... and actually do some good progressive governing.
By basing it on THEIR OWN IDEA? Seriously?
Which is exactly why he pushed through a payroll tax cut (you know, for people who work) to drive consumption.
You write long responses that say NOTHING...try again when you address the real problems of runaway corporate greed
Hey bethany...
Fox news is No different than MSNBC with their slanted reporting
with odumo..?
Time to vote him and his un-American agenda OUT...asap
gordo13 - Hey Gordo.. That's President Obama.. not odumo... I don't know about you, but the America I grew up in... we respect the president, even when we don't agree with him. Sad....
Who should we replace him with? Romney? LOL I don't want my country back, I want us to move forward.
Obama/Biden 2012.
Gordo
I am glad you think that republican ideas from the 80's and 90's are un-American, I tend to agree. Obama is a moderate by any measure except teabaggers and most of his policies are RIGHT of Reagans.
He extended tax cuts during two wars, republican idea
He based his healthcare on the individual mandate, a republican idea of personal responsibility proposed by Grassly, and passed by Romney
He escalated a war, and used our military effectively, apparently a republican idea
Used tax cuts as stimulus in 2009 almost 1/2 the stimulus was tax cuts/credits
Deported more illegals than any president, Reagan gave them amnesty...
Has CUT government employment by over 500,000, Reagan grew it by 600,000
Getting the picture yet?
If you want CHANGE, the Bro's got to go.
Jody... Careful analysis? Please give some of that analysis to the similarities of Romney proposals that got us into this mess in the first place. Your comments seem devoid honest appraisal.
It seem that we vote against a candidate rather then voting for a candidate.
If by "Bro" you mean Allan West and his merry band of teabaggers...I totally agree!
The republican game plan has been to obstruct from the beginning. More filibusters than at anytime in history.
Sure they say its Obama's policies, but in reality many of those policies (like the mandate) were republican ideas that they were for until Obama was for them. Then magically the republicans are against them.
Vote out obstruction in 2012. Obama/Biden 2012.
A question for Bethany.
Do you also applaud Socialism?
The REAL question is "Can we afford 4 more years of Obama?"
The Deficits for Obama's first 4 years will be $5,326 Billion (2012 proj), vs only $820 Billion for Bush's first 4 years (2001-2004) - that's more than 6 times as much as 'big-spender' Bush.
Here's the official Obama White House link to verify - See Table 1.3;
http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals
On the Jobs picture, the average number of jobs for 2008 was 136,790,000(including job losses at the end of 2008).
After Obama's third year (2011), that has dropped to 131,359,000 – that's a LOSS under Obama of 5,431,000 net average jobs.
Here's the Link to official Bureau of Labor Statistics site on employment to verify - Compare jobs for 2011 vs 2008;

Obama 2012: Hype and Blame
President Obama has steered us through a serious situation, the near collapse of our financial institutions. The stock market has recovered and things are starting to stabilize. I give him credit for this and do not understand those who will not. It seems to me to be a lack of sincerity.
Very well put, not to mention the fact that he is systematically destroying and eroding the very fabric of this nation. Divide and conquer seems to be his main ambition and we cannot withstand another 4 years of any of his Ideas or appointees. Please, for Americas sake people Vote this guy out we have no Idea where we are headed under his Reign.
Stark contrasts. Mitt Romney speaks to empty factories, to warehouses, to business. Barack Obama speaks to people.
People ARE people.
Do we want to shrink our lifestyle to match our income? Or do we want to grow our income to support our lifestyle? Mitt Romney's remedy is to allow business to solely control our opportunities, our incomes, our lifestyle. Barack Obama is calling for business to allow more opportunity, more income, better lifestyles.
Do we shrink our government to fit our weak economy? Following that course only means we still have a weak economy and no government.
Or - do we grow our economy to support our level of government? The only way to increase revenue - to pay for the deficit - to pay for the debt - is to grow our economy. Following that course we have a strong economy - lower our debt - and maintain a working government.
Europe is following Romney's plan - and - their lifestyles are shrinking - their governments are weakening - their future is bleak. Banks are banks. Corporations are corporations. People are people. Europe is attempting to impose austerity for the benefit of their banks and corporations - and harming their people.
It is time for our government to begin supporting our people again.
ItsAboutTime-3704531
you must be a democrat plant trying to defend the Obama which is indefensible.
Europe is following Romney's plan??? WTF? Obama is following Europe's policy failures- geez, what color is the sky on your planet?
Yes, it works for our military, education, roads, and police.
You should do the research before you make insults, Europe is following Romneys plan of austerity in the time of economic recession, and as such they are experiencing a double dip. Its a pretty clear experiment with pretty clear results, the only European style policies in this election are Romney's, sorry if the truth hurts.
So now you don't like global trade and free markets? Our government subsidizes Oil companies and that is the only reason our gas was LOW to begin with, if we let the market truly control the price $5/gallon would be cheap...do you support free markets or not?
"We the corporations?" responded:
By basing it on THEIR OWN IDEA? Seriously?
Which is exactly why he pushed through a payroll tax cut (you know, for people who work) to drive consumption.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seriously....restructure reality much?
Are you trying to argue that "Obamacare" is the Republican plan? That the Republican's are opposed to Obama because he pushed through their own plan? You do realize their are differences between the Democrat and Republican health care plans provisions, don't you? That the Republicans do not agree with the Democrat's plan?
This issue was divisive under Clinton, who at least had the sense not to push it at the begining of his term. Ultimately, Clinton dropped it because it was not worth the political capital needed to pass it.
As to passing the payroll tax cut, are you seriously arguing that is all that is needed to get the economy back on track? That, because of the payroll tax cut consumption is now high enough for to sustain a recovery?
WOW, just WOW.
Hard to argue with someone that is so far out of reality......
We the corporations?
'Yes, it works for our military, education, roads, and police'
well listen up and learn, where do you think the money for these organizations comes from? Other military, education, roads, and police?
Socialism is fine as long as you have OPM, Other Peoples Money.
@ROY WILSON-336103 -- You are displaying the professionalism and ethics that have made banking, accounting, and finance so beloved in our country.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals
Table 1.1 provides a much clearer picture of the performance of each President. The On-Budget numbers are where each President has input and veto power.
Even using your Table 1.3 - outlays show an increase of $600 billion from 2008 - and - revenues have fallen by $350 billion since 2008. Even your display of accounting ethics and professionalism clearly show that revenue has fallen - that revenue is a problem.
And you continue to deliberately misstate (through implication) that Obama is responsible for the FY2009 budget - which began on Oct. 1, 2008, one full month before Obama was elected - four months before Obama was inaugurated, and five months before any of Obama's requests were enacted by Congress. Those five months are rather important - since that is when TARP was enacted and the banks (run by ethical accountants) were bailed out.
Roughly 30 million people will be eligible for retirement over the next 10 years. That averages to potentially 250,000 people leaving the workforce every month for the next 10 years. Everyone has known for decades that this was going to happen. Why are you surprised that the size of the workforce is shrinking?
Roy Wilson,
Once again posting misleading data. Your statistics are where accuracy and truth go to die. More misleading than Fox News and thats hard to do. At least you didn't cite The Heritage Foundation or the Club for Growth.
jkh
Ahh, you point out the impending problems with SS and Medicare and never ask the really important question; what is your president doing about it? What did Obama do to alter the situation? Stimulus, more bailouts, taking over corporations and one sixth of the economy (healthcare) and putting them under yet more government control. Time to let go of the Big Government Teat.
Hi Bethany,
I have no intention of trying to persuade you to vote for republicans, or vote against Obama. I think I would be wiser to try to teach differential equations to a guppy. But I really would like it for people, really on both sides (yours is the msot glaring example which is why I'm responding to you) to stop this wild way of debating.
If you want to applaud Obamacare and Dodd-Frank it's okay with me, but it is a reality that both laws have increased the costs of doing business, so to speak, and will not achieve the results promised. Maybe this anti-business mentality is what works for you, and that's fine, but it will do little to improve the economic situation you likely blame Bush for creating.
The EPA was created by a republican, not a democrat, and no serious republican has suggested it be eliminated. Power reduced? Yes. Scope confined? Yes. I don't think the EPA, and I really doubt you think the EPA, ought to be able to bankrupt individuals trying to build on their own land, just because it can do it. So more accountability, at a minimum, would be a great start.
The Education Department, whether you think we should have one or not, has failed at its stated mission. We spend more per student and get less for it than at any time in our public school experiment. Maybe the conservative concept of local control, or at worst state control, of public education will help improve it, or at least return it to what it previously was before DC had so much influence over it. In this case, like the one above, I think I would go with what the Constitution permits Congress to do, rather than what you, or even I, think Congress should do.
No president, or Congress, can overturn Roe v Wade, no matter how bad the legal opinion was, or is. We'd need an amendment to do this politically, and I really doubt we can get 3/4 of the states to go along with one, even if we got 2/3 of each house to send it to the states. No, Roe, if it is to fall, will fall because the USSC determines they made a mistake in 1972. I would like it returned to the states to determine for the same reason above--the constitution failed to give this power to the federal government.
SS and Medicare are going to fail on their own, mostly because people like you are unwilling to do anything to fix them. Both were and are bad ideas. SS is so bad that if you tried to do it privately you would, well, go to prison. Forget its racist outcomes, the theft from minorities of tens of billions in wealth, given instead to whites and some asians. Forget the pathetic ROI, one that if you offered it privately would get you about zero investors. Forget that it was a cash cow for Congress so they could spend more than they pretended to tax us. It's like Obama, in a way. Forget everything that HAS happened and simply hope things will get better. Medicare is no better. It has never reduced corruption, just the opposite. It has never reduced costs, just the opposite. There are ways for both to be structured so that you have more power and control over your own future, but, then, you wouldn't be able to be the Julia you really want to be.
And you might want to look it up, but in 1963 Congress passed an Act which required employers to pay men and women doing the same work the same pay. You are nearly 50 years late to the game Bethany. The Ledbetter Act does nothing more than the Act 49 years ago. It was for show. It was for sizzle. And you bought the sell.
Frankly Bethany, it is people like you that are ruining the USA. Mr. Obama isn't to blame anymore than one would blame a dog for drinking from the toilet when the lid was left up. And people like you, Bethany, are leaving the lid up. Ultimately we get the government and economy we deserve. For my part, conservatives have for too long compromised with liberals in this constitutional deceit. We have validated your insane political ideas by practicing them lightly. And what really scares most conservatives isn't that Obama might win again--the odds I think favor him--but that if Romney does win, and he would easily be better than Obama, that he will be enough "like" Obama so that liberals once again feel validated in their delusions.
The idea behind Obamacare was to show that Republican ideas would have a place - that the administration was willing to work with Republicans. TARP had been started - Obama's stimulus had been started. There was time to build a working relationship with Republicans while those programs operated.
Obamacare was based on Republican ideas - Romneycare in MA was the model of the Republican approach to health care reform. The ACA should have been an easy piece of legislation that both parties could have taken credit for enacting. The ACA was an opportunity for Democrats and Republicans to build a working relationship that would be needed when the TARP and stimulus programs came to an end and further action would be needed to stabilize and grow the economy.
The Republicans orphaned their own child. The Republicans chose political calculus to attempt to fracture the Democrats and to snipe from the sidelines. The Republicans countered with 'insurance across state lines' and tort reform. President Obama publicly requested that the Republicans include those ideas - during a State of the Union before the entire nation. The Republicans even orphaned their new children - for political points.
The Republicans have chosen opposition and obstruction in an attempt to gain political points - instead of governing.
Obama's weakness in the whole affair was continuing to provide opportunities for Republicans and Democrats to do the hard work of developing compromises that included both Republican ideas and Democrat ideas. Obama's failure was trying to work with the Republicans for entirely too long. Maybe Obama has learned the lesson now - and - Republicans really will need to sit in the back of the bus - where they belong.
Clinton dropped the EMPLOYER mandate, Grassly (R) proposed the Individual MANDATE...i.e. Republican idea.
@Rich-281385 -- The original mandate for EPA was fundamentally flawed. EPA's mandate is to protect the environment. Period.
Since virtually all industry pollutes - all industry threatens the environment. Eliminating industry protects the environment. EPA is responsible, under Federal law, to protect the environment. Failure to protect the environment is simply breaking Federal law.
Congress has had many, many, many opportunities to address that flaw in EPA's mandate - but - they have chosen to simply use EPA to score political points. Congress could have redirected EPA toward a conservation mission. Instead, Congress has required EPA to be antagonistic towards industry - so that Congress could complain about EPA.
Blame EPA all you want - Congress is responsible for how EPA operates. EPA does not have a choice - EPA must follow Federal law - created by Congress.
gordo,
Slanted news?!! Really? With odumbo if the press doesn't agree with him (just like he says of the republicans) it's one-sided news reporting. ANYTHING that people do not agree with him it's the same old divisive "they won't work with me!!!" bullsh!t.
This "president" will only "work with" those that kiss his butt and agree to his crap policies. He makes decisions then if the majority says otherwise he reverses himself.
He is now trying to kiss Israels' prime minister butt after almost four years of turning his back on them. Why? Because he wants to be re-elected and will do or say anything to win. I'll bet he'd stab his own Mother in the back if it would be in his interest.
Hey Nerm,
Roy can defend himself. But you make an interesting point in your reply to him, one I would like to see you defend. TARP was passed while Bush was president, but not all TARP funds expended were spent while Bush was president, though this misses the real point. The left claims that TARP actually earned the treasury a PROFIT. How is it that you want to hammer at Bush for TARP costs, but want to accrue TARP benefits to Mr. Obama? This is highly disingenuous, at best. I think TARP was a catastrophic mistake, but not because it temprarily raised the deficit.
This continued mixing of government money with private money, one to bail out the other, one to excuse bad behavior by the other, one to essentially cover up, or paper over, the policy mistakes of the government, virtually insures that we will once again repeat the same stupid policy mistakes. We, meaning the government, have not cleaned up our mortgage policies or our securities policies. Businesses don't want to, frankly, since it allows them to take more risk, profit more by it, but if things fall apart they (if they are big enough) get a "get out of jail free" card. What a colossal mistake we have made as a culture to allow this to become normal.
Anyhow, please, if you will, explain to us all why TARP spending should be charged against Bush even though not all of it was spent by Bush, and TARP profits should only go to reduce Obama's increased deficits?
from the frying pan to the fire..what's to believe ???..mother did NOT Raise a Fool, apparently, Politics Caters to FOOLS !!!............
Obama saw healthcare reform as a way to make himself a legend in his own mind and didn't think or care about the consequences to the minions. He flip flopped on the whole mandate thing- he said mandating people to buy insurance was like mandating homeless people to buy homes. Epic fail
Rich...Check the facts. Bush's TARP contained no time limits for payback. That's why at present in 2012 5 of the 7 major banks that took TARP money still owe it. President Obama's ARRA, on the other hand, not only had a provision for a time limit on payback but also a provision for interest on extensions on the time for payback unlike TARP.
By the way, when TARP was written certain of its provisions forced the Treasury Department to approve pay packages for 49 bank executives to the tune of $5 million dollars or more for each of the 49. Only Citigroup and Bank of America paid back TARP before the end of 2009.
Hey Nerm.
While it would be interesting for me to see you show me where I blamed the EPA for the mess we have with it, I think the larger point is found in two things. First, the one example I gave of EPA over-reach was when the EPA goes after people simply trying to use their own land. The Idaho case recently won by the couple at the USSC is just one of many, many, cases.
Second, I think I pointed out that no serious republican wants to eliminate the EPA, but that we should reduce its scope. This has happened, and people like you then complain that republicans want everyone to drink toxic mud, and breath solid air. But where I would really go after the scope of the EPA is its controls and regulations of INTRASTATE pollution or environmental activity. I don't know where you live but, your previous posts notwithstanding, I think the people of your state are capable for themselves of dealing with environmental matters organic to, and confined within, your state. This alone would have major impact on the EPA's ability to use its endless resources to bully disadvantaged citizens into a prostrate position.
@Rich-281385 -- There have been no benefits to the government from TARP. There has only been cost. Period.
The Toxic Asset Relief Program (TARP) was enacted for the specific purpose of buying mortgage backed securities (derivatives) to stabilize the derivative market. Hank Paulson, Treasury Sec., redirected the TARP funds to loans for investment banks. Paulson forced investment banks to take the loans - to hide which investment banks were failing. After those phony loans were repaid - TARP purchased mortgage backed securities - as required by the law. The government still owns those derivatives.
Obama was required, by Federal law, to continue the TARP program. Obama did redirect the 'profit' from the TARP loans to underwrite the GM and Chrysler bankruptcies. GM and Chrysler were not 'bailed out' with new spending and did not add anything to the national debt - because - the TARP funds were already accounted for in the debt.
Obama should receive credit for using TARP 'profits' to underwrite the auto industry. That was very innovative - because - the investment banks essentially underwrote the bankruptcies with 'profits' from the phony TARP loans.
Hi ewent,
Are you sure you meant to respond to me? Because I made no claims to the contrary. TARP could have had strict payback timelines and compensation limits and I still would have opposed it for the reason I gave. Putting lipstick on a pig, if that is what those two provisions would have done, still means it's a pig.
@Rich-281385 --
The statement where you are blaming EPA is highlighted in bold. EPA is complying with requirements of Federal law created by Congress. EPA over reach is required by Federal law - and - EPA is required to comply with Federal law. The Republicans do NOT want to fix that - because - they would lose a bogeyman for the campaign stump.
Republicans have had many, many, many opportunities to correct the problems with EPA. The Republicans could have fixed the problems with EPA or totally eliminated EPA anytime between 2001 and 2007. All Congress has to do to eliminate EPA is cut funding to zero. No other legislation is required.
The Republicans have not done that simply because they need something to complain about. It is extremely difficult to scare you with a bogeyman - that does not exist.
Hey Nerm,
I didn't really need a recap of what TARP is, but thanks. Bailing out ANY private firm with public money is a bad idea in a nation where the constitution doesn't permit such acts. So no, Obama gets no credit from me. Neither GM or Chrysler would have evaporated with all jobs lost, but they might've been broken up. And the bail outs did something else. They vitiated private contracts. One of the primary roles of the federal government is to ENFORCE contracts, and in this case the government simply swept tens of billions in contract values away. This, no matter how we want to ignore it or spin it, is tantamount to despotic rule. It is always a bad idea, even when some people are beguiled by it.
On a political level I am not sure you are right, but it is interesting to me that you consider the claims made by Mr. Obama and his adminstration that the US taxpayer is earning profits from TARP investments as lies. Thank you!
@Rich-281385 -- You are choosing to ignore the point - for obviously small minded political points. GM and Chrysler were not 'bailed out' with public money. Obama used private money - interest garnered from loans to investment banks - to underwrite the bankruptcies.
GM and Chrysler went through a bankruptcy court. THAT is what nullified contracts and eliminated stock value - bankruptcy. The underwriter of the bankruptcy can impose terms on the bankruptcy - which is enforced by the bankruptcy court.
Without an underwriter - GM and Chrysler would have been forced to liquidate. Typically, investment banks underwrite bankruptcies as large as GM and Chrysler - however, the investment banks were failing and could not underwrite those bankruptcies. GM and Chrysler would be gone if the government had not underwritten the bankruptcies.
obama has got to go.........the worst president in our history who at his best is a liar, a distorter, and a divider.......i don't know how any intelligent adult american could fall for his bull@!$%# once let alone twice......ONE AND DONE BARRY.....
Hey Nerm,
Let's recap. I said EPA was established by a republican, and that no serious republican wants to eliminate it. I said that the EPA, even for liberals, went too far in going after people just wanting to build on their own land. You replied that the EPA goes after businesses who pollute, because that is its mandate. I said, sure, but even there we ought to confine the EPA to interstate pollution and environmental issues. The EPA, in the cases of the individuals I was mentioning, didn't follow federal law, which is of course why they lost in court. But the point is that the EPA took it all the way to the USSC. Why? Because they have unlimited assets, essentially, to take you to court and drive you into the ground.
You can blame republicans all you want for this situation, but it's a little odd to on the one hand blame them for wanting it, and on the other hand to blame them when they try to change it so these abuses don't happen. Only in "Liberal Land" can this kind of thinking make sense.
@Rich-281385 -- The only thing I am blaming Republicans for - is playing politics instead of governing.
The rest of America is expected to work for their future - yet Republicans feel their expectations for others do not apply to themselves.
You obviously recognize that - since - you are presenting a defense of Republicans based on blaming 'liberals' instead of pointing out Republican actions.
Bogeyman politics is a weak defense. Republicans would be great - if only the bogeyman would allow them to do what they want.
Let's recap the Republican 'accomplishments'.
$0.94 of every dollar of our national debt has been created over the last 30 years - since Ronald Reagan became President.
Republicans controlled the White House for 20 of those years.
Republicans controlled one or both houses of Congress for 17 of those years.
Over the last 30 years -
Manufacturing jobs have left the United States (subsidized by tax cuts).
Our trade imbalance has grown (subsidized by offshore tax exemptions).
Working wages have stagnated (subsidized by Right To Work).
Wealth and income disparity has increased (subsidized by debt and tax cuts).
Inflation has increased dramatically (caused by speculation).
Our currency has been devalued (caused by weak fiscal policy).
Home ownership has become a burden (caused by bank deregulation).
Healthcare costs have skyrocketed (subsidized by lax regulation).
Education costs have skyrocketed (caused by promoting debt).
All justified by bogeyman politics - by blaming 'government is the problem' - instead of actually governing. All the result of destroying the effectiveness of government. All the result of deregulation - cutting taxes - shrinking the effectiveness of government.
The tax burden on the economy is lower today than it was 30 years ago. Regulations on business are less restrictive today than they were 30 years ago. The cost of government has increased - the effectiveness of government has decreased.
All our current problems are the result of the government failing to do its job. How is further reducing the effectiveness of government going to solve anything?
If all of you conservatives and independents are so inclusive and open minded, why are so many of the posts that disagree with you collapsed?!
As for your arguments, can you say straw man? Or misrepresentation of the facts?
Hey Nerm,
You don't think Bethany was playing bogeman politics, or that your claim republicans WANT an unaccountable EPA so it has something to blame are bogeyman politics? C'mon man, get real. And if you had read above you might realize nothing I've done so far is to defend republicans by blaming liberals. The point was that Bethany is wildly wrong regarding her claims, and, secondarily, that you can't be right if she is, and she can't be right if you are, even though you both share the same political position.
Frankly, I think you both are equally distant from anything resembling reality regarding what republicans want or have done.
I think your list of particulars is, particularly, hilarious. Not because you want to ascribe all things bad to republicans, and by logical extension, all things good to democrats. I mean, heck, there are plenty of republicans who do the same towards democrats. It's because your general premise is that government has failed because it hasn't been allowed to govern properly, since, as you claim, republicans have held the WH 2/3 of the past 30 years, and one or both houses of Congress 17 of those 20 years.
Let's look at two simple facts of our government. First, the president can do little without Congressional authorization. Even his Article Two powers are effectively neutered should Congress defund his ability to exercise them. But second, and far more importantly, having one house in Congress means about squat, and having two means little unless you can get 60 votes in the senate. Whichever party holds power in the House can do pretty much anything it wants in the HOUSE. But without those 60 senate votes it goes no where. And in the past 30 years only one party, for two of those years was able to get its own way out of Congress. It wasn't republicans.
Look to the senate today, where many bills passed by the House are never going to see Senate action, whether approved or rejected, simply because Democrats don't want them acted upon. Or the simple fact that despite having a statutory requirement to fulfill, senate democrats have refused to even consider, let alone pass, a federal budget.
So you can continue to blame republicans, but they haven't for even one year of the past 30 been able to control the agenda. This doesn't excuse them for what has happened, and you should not take it that way. But it makes laughable your ridiculous idea that republicans have wrought all this damage, but democrats are as innocent as the Virgin Mary herself. You will likely say you didn't mean for me to take it this way, and so I ask only that you look at the first few lines of that post again to see why I would.
Jody-1593626 -- Stop the damn sniveling and get real. We are still operating under the failed Republican/Bush-era policies of war, tax cuts for the rich, and deregulation. The only thing that has prevented complete meltdown has been the small efforts of the stimulus, extension of unemployment, and additional breaks for the middle class.
Our country is divided now more than ever thanks to FOX Noise and Hate Radio, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, and Frank Luntz -- And most of all thanks to Teapublican treason. Pick up a copy of this book:
Robert Draper's Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives
The GOP/TP premeditated united front to obstruct, attack, and lie is NOT acceptable, if for no other reason than being un-American and unprofessional in their jobs to represent their constituents.
Hopefully the president will be reelected, and he will be given a Congress who will work together and work with him. Obama/Biden - 2012!
ItsAboutTime-3704531
gordo13 - Hey Gordo.. That's President Obama.. not odumo... I don't know about you, but the America I grew up in... we respect the president, even when we don't agree with him. Sad....Wrong, we respect the OFFICE of the presidency. The traitor in there now has to go or America will never survive.
Shaking my head-2479300 -- Romney is a plutocrat, who if elected, would be a puppet for the oligarchy (corporations and 1%), as well as the religious-Right, neocon war mongers, and "starve the beast" Teabagger anarchists.
Yes, compared to fascism, theocracy, autocracy, and all the possible combinations we see from the far-Right, socialism is looking better and better every day.
@Crystal...
Crystal-569996
Mr Obama explained this but you were probably to busy bitching to listen. Sooner or later this must be fixed (healthcare). If not, it will continue to pull down the rest of the economy. If not now, when? Trying to fix the economy is like running a marathon. Trying to do it without attacking the problems that got us here is like a marathon with weights on your ankles and neck. If repugnicans had been serious about fixing things, it would have been easy to work out a compromise. But as we now know, they had already conspired with each other to try and damage the nation and make our lives more difficult- at which they have succeeded- in hopes to blame it on Mr. Obama. So my question to you,Crystal, is are you so stupid that you will reward their treason and treachery and blame someone else for their sins or are you just a mindless Redeemer zombie who wanders behind Mitt and Newt mumbling," yes master". Or will you open your eyes and look at someone else-anyone else- besides the repugnican Redeemers. I'm not sure that I will vote for Obama but I guarantee that I won't vote for Romney.
NermL - nice attempt at spin and smoke & mirror accounting...
Just looking at a timeline of events suggests otherwise regarding public vs private funding. I wonder why everyone refers to the taxpayers vis a vie government owning so many shares of GM stock?
TP - yep that explains why the soviet union is no longer around, china has changed its policies as well as viet nam and even cuba is changing. Then we have the tremendous examples of greece and other EU countries as to the wonders of socialism.
Wasn't it margret thatcher that said in 1976 the following...
Yep TP, what happens in 2033 when the SS trust can only pay out about 77% of the funds it is obligated to pay out? Now you and others whine about the ryans plan? Where is obama and companies plan for sustainability? I get it, why should they care, they have their own seperate plan...
american-2051576 -- There is a BIG difference between communism (USSR, China) and socialism. The lessons to be learned from the EU is that austerity would cause the US to double-dip back into recession and unemployment to skyrocket as it has in countries like Greece.
Yes, we need to reduce the debt. Check out Tom Coburn's book The Debt Bomb -- it's a small return to sanity, but at least he has told Norquist to shove it.
Simply updating the current cap on FICA with-holdings from $106,000 to $500,000, and then means test anyone earning over $500,000, and SS would be solvent for a long time out. Also, if we had a single-payer Universal health care system, Medicare would be shored up as well.
A repeat of failed GOP/Bush-era policies on steroids would be devastating, but we don't need to increase defense spending to such an extent that all entitlements would have to be completely abolished to balance the budget -- And certainly not because Teapublicans refuse to reform the tax code in a fair way.
Obama/Biden - 2012!
Marx stated that socialism was the stage between capitalism and communism. Now, howcome raising taxes is the answer BEFORE any attempt is made to address the billons of dollars of fraud in SS, Medicare, IRS refunds and a host of other government programs. Most people don't mind paying more taxes but they sure as hell don't like having that money stolen.
Obama/Binladen 2012
mygirl1 - I'd like a link about Marx on that. But your argument is called the "gateway" argument (or slippery slope) that if a person has a drink it will lead to smoking weed and that will lead to shooting heroin. The "gateway" is a favorite of the Right-wing, and wasting a lot of time on things that will never happen.
The US is already a hybrid with some socialism, like public education etc., so like the founding fathers, we can implement things that work and in the way these work best. The private sector is not going to build huge infrastructure projects, or land on the moon, and we wouldn't want them running the military. There are many things best done by the government. This is the most fundamental problem with the rightwing -- Their irrational hatred of government.
In the meantime, there have been efforts to address fraud, etc., and there is a big spending cut about to go into affect -- Remember the debt ceiling fight? But ZERO in revenues. The Bush tax cuts are about to expire too. It's going to be a wild ride so buckle-up nation.
Hey True Patriot,
I agree with you that in the USA we already have several, for lack of a better word, socialist entities. The post office and military and all other governmental functions are the result of the people coming together, and so if that is what socialism means to you so be it. But I think it's a serious mistake to think that is what conservatives or right wingers think. Could we agree, at least, that those things you mentioned that are enumerated powers of the constitution are things even conservatives are willing to accept, even eager to accept, as the proper role of a functioning government?
So let's not talk about the military, or local fire department, or local police force, or anything else we all already agree on. Let's confine the discussion, instead, to all those functions and powers of the federal government NOT enumerated in the constitution as belonging to it. This, certainly, is where most every conservative I have ever heard speak or seen write on the topic centers their debate. Public education isn't mentioned in the US Constitution, so why must the federal government have power and influence over it, particularly when results compared against the charter of the Education Department clearly indicates federal failure on this issue? The modern federal government is rife with such examples of powers it has arrogated to itself but which are not mentioned, let alone contemplated, in the constitution.
Which is not to say the government can in no case do more than the constitution presently permits, simply instead that if WE, in our socialistic desires, want it to do more, then WE should do it the right way and amend the constitution to grant the power to the feds you want. Commerce, as ineffectual as that department has been, at least comports with constitutional powers since Congress has the power to deal with foreign commerce, as well as commerce among the various states, but does this mean that giving public money to private firms in order to help determine winners and losers is a constitutional power of the federal government? If you, or people like you, think so, then make that case. But if you can't, then don't, please, pretend for a minute that your claim conservatives want no government has any validity at all. We just want the government to be limited, constitutionally, so that you aren't limited nearly as much governmentally.
Obama bringing back his '08 campaign ? LOL. Yep, and here are some of the folks who voted for Mr. Obama which they based their vote on ...... (listen to the video):
These folks are NOT the sharpest tacks in the house.

i pray that these young adults will not be fooled by obama again.
Unemployment Increases in Young
People Under Obama: A New Lost Generation of Youth?
http://aconservativeteacher.blogspot.com/2011/12/unemployment-increases-in-young-people.html
In my post America's Youth
Will Rue the Day They Voted for Obama I wrote:
...(the national debt piled up
under the recent budgets of President Obama) is going to destroy the life,
liberty, and property of my children and grandchildren. They are going to grow
up in a world less secure because our nation will owe money to nations ranging
from Middle Eastern oil dictatorships to communist China, our children will
have lesser fire and police and hospital and library services than we enjoy
today, inflation will destroy savings and inheritances and businesses passed
on, Social Security will be gone (or exist in a much diminished manner),
Medicare will be gone (or exist in a much diminished manner), higher education
will be too expensive except for the richest of the youth, and our society will
be one which rewards those children whose parents have political connections
and not those children who work hard and innovate. A Leviathan will rule over
my children and grandchildren, controlling their actions and dictating to them
in a poor society that is yet a shadow of what America used to be, all thanks
to liberal and progressives and their failed policies which have destroyed the
financial and moral foundations of nations, states, and cities already....
...our nation will fall father and farther behind in developing energy and be
forced to transfer more and more wealth to tyrants overseas just because Obama
and the Democrats are slaves to a failed Green God religion and its corrupting
influence.
The very nature of Obamacare is to transfer wealth from young to old, by
forcing healthy members of society who are choosing not to buy healthcare to
buy healthcare and subsidize the old people in society who use it. The promise
is there that someday they'll also get to join in the intergenerational theft,
but when America's debt soars ever higher, that promise will not be followed
through on, and besides, promises of intergenerational theft are still nothing
more than theft.
America's youth will rue the day that they voted for Barack Obama on a naive
promise of hope and change and togetherness. They will rue the day....
My prediction was that someday in
the future, America's youth will look back on the election of 2008 and think to
themselves that they should not have voted for him because in this distant
future America's youth will be unemployed and facing crumbling foundations and
massive debt. My prediction was wrong- it turns out, America's youth should be
ruing the day right now that they voted for Obama, because now none of
them have jobs:
Just 55.3 percent of Americans
between 16 and 29 have jobs.
That means that almost half of all
young people are not getting any job experience and are not gaining critical
job skills, and in the decades to come, now will be a lost period during which
the future did not set themselves up for a brighter future. Instead the young
are draining the resources of other productive people in society by living at
home and eating food paid for by their parents, who could have been using using
that money to invest or save for retirement or give to charity.
Although I was not able to find any information to compare 55.3% to from the
Department of Labor, I was able to find a paper which
suggests a pre-Obama employment rate for 16 to 29 year olds of 65%.
This suggests that the addition of variable "President Obama" to the
American economic equation resulted in an increase in 1 in 10 young people not
being able to find a job due to his job-killing policies.
The reason why these young people can not find jobs is not because 'Bush lied
and soldiers died' in Iraq, it is not because Bush didn't stop global warming,
it is not because the Republicans are 'obstructing' tax increases and increased
government spending, and it is not because 'tea party people are racist.' The
reason why young people can not find jobs is that legislation and policies
passed by Obama and the Democrats make it more expensive to hire workers (such
as increased healthcare costs associated with Obamacare), make it more risky to
expand production (when government policies could change and turn on any sort
of industry), when being productive makes you more of a target (the 'evil rich'
are being attacked by class-warfare playing Obama), and that the government is
encouraging young people to not get jobs by pushing more student loans on them
and getting them covered on their parents insurance longer.
Young people, because they are up-and-coming and energetic and healthy and
productive and strong, should vote conservative and Republican, so that
government gets off their backs and lets them be all that they can be.
ANYBODY BUT OBAMA 2012!!!!
how about capturing the spirit of America and replacing this clown with someone who can actually do the job and not just somebody who is a good salesman.
ANYBODY BUT OBAMA 2012!!!
RECAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA!!!!!
I agree .....!
Over 12 million out of work, over 8% unemployment going on 3 years.
Over 1000 days of no budget from the senate.
Obama care will be found unconstitutional in June.
Dodd Frank is a total disaster.
And you people want four more years of this crap...
So Bush gets 8 years to f everything up, and we get less than 3 to fix it all?
great logic...from a bunch of mental midgets, obviously.
No worries...id rather republicans take control, so when it really tanks...the blame will be exactly where it belongs.
as opposed to the previous eight years of a mismanaged administration, that really should be on trial for murdering over 4,000 US military and 100,000's of civilians? Hmmmm, that's a real tough one...... I'll take four more, please.
comp doc....? so you do nothing in 3 1/2 years and basically bankrupt america and you call that fixing....Your dreaming buddy. Obama is LOUSY
America was closer to bankruptcy in 2008, pal. Turn off Fox. It's not too late.
with more debt and less jobs and a far weaker dollar today you think we are better off?..............lefties really need thier heads examined
Let's see are we better off?
DOW was at 8000 when Obama took office, and now its at 13000.
Jobless claims plummeted under Obama. Unemployment is coming down under Obama.
Google GDP chart, and you'll see that the economy has grown each and every quarter since Obama has been in office.
Eric-913730
And because you say this we should believe it? Real numbers which come out long after the phoney ones say just the opposite. Those who are still out of work know you must be talking from the Narwhal room.
Jody...President Obama's message is what it was the day his election was called in his favor (something that gives all righties terminal cases of hemorrhoids)....onward, upward and forward. Now...pardon me if I mind your bashing MY president while your party's only policy is "Backward, downward and outward."
Get another tune. Your anti-Obama bashing is 4 years old. No is a word your ilk doesn't particuarly like. So NO you can't get rid of MY president. NO you don't have a single Republican not tied to the Corporate Welfare State. NO you and your red state hoochie coos cannot have another dime of MY tax dollars. And most of all, NO we don't want that DogPatch USA Lil Abner and Daisy Mae BS ignorance to be the cornerstone of our government.
Either you move ahead with us or we move ahead without you and your kind.
And the article mentions a race between an average joe and a multimillionaire? You think Obama is an average joe? Wake up, he was raised by communist groupie grandparents (it's in his book) and has spent his life sniffing out other people's money because he wasn't talented or smart enough to earn it. Then he hooked up with Valerie Jarret ATM . He pretty much turned the reins over to Pelousy and Reid so he could party in the Whitehouse. Epic fail.
It took Eight years for the republicans to @!$%# up the country and Obama was to fix it in three years give me a break. republicans are the problem with this country when Democrats take control of the house and Senate again the Country will start to move forward again. The teapublicans have got to go
We certainly can afford 4 more years of President Obama. Let me tell you who can't: The most corrupt who under Bush got a free pass to steal, extort and use all manner of skanko-American corruption to get their wealth. Then, you've got the other bunch who can't: cowardly men and women whose racism is so deep in their bones, they can't even see what the rest of us do.
The reason the wealthy and Big Business hate this president so? He won't tolerate any more of them ripping off taxpayers, consumers and employees. They don't like it when some very high-minded president puts a dent in all of that corruption. They don't like it because they can't rip the rest of us off and get away with it the way they did under Bush and all the other Recession Republican Presidents.
stupidita...You are a liar. The Dept. of Labor just posted the number of unemployed and it is down from the 2006 numbers. It isn't 12 million. Try again. It's just under 8 million ...you know? Those same 8 million Bush and Cheney unemployed by 2008 according to DOL records?
Next time, don't post without checking the real figures.
When you will accept the fact this man is putting all americans behind his spending spree only to say the rich do not pay there fair share. B O never gave one extra penny for the debt he is causing while filing taxes...that line for contributions was EMPTY
He's a looser not a leader don't re-nig / on the statement debt in half or ONE TERM
Event their's a place for your way of thinking...it's six foot under.
eric,
"Jobless claims plummeted under Obama..." Yup, sure did but that was because many unemployed reached the end of their benefits. Nothing more and nothing less.
Oh come on libbies, let's dispense with the rewriting of history.....eight years of misery and such under Bush. Fact is, for the first 6 years (until the Dems took over the Congress), we had a robust economy with continous growth, only about 4.5% unemployment, and one of the most sustained bull markets in history.....oh yes, and $1.79/gallon gas.
computerdoc?...quit blaming bush for obama's abysmal performance.....how pathetic
mcpaddywack
What's pathetic is that bushco's own Sec. of Treasury told them after the first bushco tax cuts that they had just ruined the US economy (2001). Their response? Fire him and do another tax cut. And even though an accomplished economist and their own Sec. of Treasury told them they has just wrecked the US economy, they did nothing about it and now, 10 years later you want to blame Obama for their stupidity. In my world, that makes you pretty pathetic. You have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO POST BUT HATE FOR OBAMA. THAT'S PATHETIC.
Shaking my head-2479300
Eric-913730
It seems to me that the single most important number to dwell on if that's your thing is the number 800,000. That's the number of jobs we lost the last month of bushanomics. 800,000 . If we generated 800,000, everyone would be flabbergasted. So how can you Redeemers play off the end result of bushanomics. 800,000 people out of work in just one month. This is what happens when banks are not regulated. This is what happens when you serve the middle class up to the rich like a buffet. I'm not a huge fan of Mr. Obama but the indisputable, undeniable truth is that if you look at the worst 10 months in the last 10 years of job growth, I am confident that President Obama won't make it onto that list. And yet these same failed policies are what Romney wants to re-implement. Let's forget for one minute that he is a lying, thieving spoiled rich boy who you can neither trust nor believe. He is openly espousing a return to the same measures that got us in this bind in the first place. It MIGHT be different if he had any real ideas, new ideas. But he doesn't. We've already been down the road on which he wants to lead us. The last time we went down this path a lot of us were eaten. And now you want to do it again????Can we say insane?

Time for Hope in Change. No BO in 2012.
A vote for Romney is a vote for more "trickle down" economics. The rich getting richer while the poor get poorer.
Forward...with blaming others.
Common Man...Time for lots and lots and lots more getting rid of the Daycare Generation of Tea Party bossy, overbearing, overingulged, self-important Twerps. More More More Obama in 2012!
No more corrupt Republican hotcha bois eyeing our wallets as if they own them.
Get the pop-culture, celebrity President out of the White House and put a serious leader in who will put America first! Romney may not be the perfect candidate, but who is? At least he is an American who believes in the American way of life. He has experience doing something productive in the private sector (as opposed to going around and collecting signatures as a "community organizer")! He has also had chief executive experience in government as a former governor of Massachusetts. He is SO much more qualified than Obama. There is no comparison!
As conservatives we must focus on a positive campaign message for America. Axelrod, Obama, Jarrett, and the gang are going to run a campaign of smears and lies. Romney will be the Reaganesque candidate that will instill optimism into the hearts and minds of the American public while his opponent will continue his divisive tactics of blame and class warfare. So ultimately who does the American public want to vote for? The current President who can in no way own up to his failed policies and thus resorts to negative campaigning or an optimistic candidate who has success in both the public and private sectors who can restore America to that "shining city on the hill"? Goodbye Obama!!!!!!! :-)
RoMONEY is all about MOOLAH for himself and his Corporate Welfare State cronies. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but no where in the US Constitution does it state that taxpayers must bail out filthy profitable corporations or keep them in business. We do that not as a demand by Republicans but out of generosity.
Until the day Republican Aholes come back down to sanity, taxpayers do not have to give one damn dime of tax revenues to ANY corporation much less filthy rich Big Oil. Those tax dollars are revenue to be used for the people, by the people, of the people.
So...let's hear your Socialism, liberalism BS contortions of that Constitution fact of life.
Crystal...Usually people who post lies about someone get hauled into court for libel. Unless you can prove what you posted about President Obama. Yes...he was raised by a single Mom. I realize here are no single Moms in red states, right? Only Daisy Maes who can afford to bleach their hair and get boob jobs so they can have astonomical bazongas to smack them upside what little brains they have all while Lil Abner cracks his whip.
Our president is everything you and your kind can never be....a man of the people. But then, your kind hates anyone who doesn't have the misguided pathetic narcissistic ideas they do.
ewent,
You really are the type of person obama is looking for - if someone does not agree with what the "president" deems true or the "right way" you take that as the only way to do something or the only way to think which is a very dangerous road to go down.
What you seem to have forgotten or perhaps never learned is that this country is all about freedom of speech even though it may not agree with your views or the occupant of the White House.
Actually he was abandoned by both his Kenyan father and his social misfit mother to be raised by his grandparents who put his mother in a communist school in Mercer Island Wa. and then moved to Hawaii to follow the pervert Frank Marshall Davis, a known communist. He said in his book, his grandfather and Davis took him at 11 years old to strip clubs- how messed up is that?! Too bad Davis isn't alive to see what a failure he created. You should at least read the books written by the man you salivate over.
Eric - and obamas trickle down economics will work better? LOL!
Ewent...
Based on romney's net worth and the certain headaches of being POTUS I really doubt that he is in it for the money.
Speaking about corporate money I understand that "no bid contracts" increased from around $34 billion in 2010 to about $36 billion in 2011 as reported by bloomberg TV earlier this year under the category of "fast facts". Feel free to recheck their numbers by searching for all "no bid federal contracts" for those years.
While you are at it how about a search on all those that have bundled obama campaign contributions that now have found employment within his administration?
Yep we get it, obama has the only right plan. Oh oh, hardly any democrats supported his 4Q jobs plan or either of his proposed budgets.
Don't vote for the lesser of two evil this time, Ron Paul is not out of the GOP primary yet despite the media blackout. Paul has taken Iowa, Maine, Nevada and more delegates from other states that the media is ignoring. Don't vote for more of the same. Vote for Peace, Prosperity, and money backed by gold/silver, vote Ron Paul!
IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE THAT OBAMA IS A MUSLIM JUST ASK HIM OR BETTER
YET JUST WATCH AND HE WILL TELL YOU!!!!!

Sorry, no one is buying his empty sologans this time.
what's a sologan, a new sandwich at Subway?
our only hope is a change
"Forward".... "Forward".... why does that ring a bell? Didn't Mao use something similar as a socialist-takeover campaign? "Great Leap Forward," I think it was... my high-school history is a bit rusty. Of course, we all know how that ended. Utter disaster.
Noryc....wasn't that Nixon's slogan? So you are comparing Nixon to Mao?
Isn't it just like our twerpy younger generation of righties to never accept blame? These are the same punks who walk into corporations looking for jobs at the top only and then, demand the VPs salary all while they spend, spend, spend on tanning salons, Happy Hours that start on Fridays and end on Tuesdays when these idiot twerps decide it's actually necessary to break a sweat or get their tender little patties dirty with that four letter word they detest most...W-O-R-K...Why work when you can plunk fingers on a keyboard and call that work?
Boy are you delusional, you just described the typical Obama voter!
Crystal...Wrong...Most senior citizens won't vote for a Republican unless they want everything they worked 5 decades for to end up in Ritzy Titzies hands. Most of our 20 somethings are smarter than the Ahole right wing 30, 40 and 50 Me Me Me First Wah Wah Wah...Daycare generation Twerps who can never grow up sufficiently to accept responsiblity. Most of them deluded themselves into thinking everyone else must, must, must do it all for them. They age out of McMommy and McDaddy's home at age 35 and now can't face their responsibilities as parents.
The typical Obama voter is an average American so fed up with your kind, all of those right wing asses are about to be shown what we real Americans are all about. Get a life and then t
ewent,
You really have a problem with anger, don't you? Perhaps it is clouding your vision and thinking.
"Twerps"? Now that is the way a mature person would refer to others simply because they happen to not agree with your view.
"Private Sector Jobs Bounce Back, Under Obama".
http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2012/05/private_sector_jobs.html
what a loser!
obama is going
to try to convince college students that it's not his fault that young adults
coming out of college have a very low employment rate since 2008 under the obama
administration.
i pray that
these young adults will not be fooled by obama again.
Unemployment
Increases in Young
People Under Obama: A New Lost Generation of Youth?
http://aconservativeteacher.blogspot.com/2011/12/unemployment-increases-in-young-people.html
In my post America's
Youth
Will Rue the Day They Voted for Obama I wrote:
...(the national
debt piled up
under the recent budgets of President Obama) is going to destroy the life,
liberty, and property of my children and grandchildren.
A Leviathan will rule over
my children and grandchildren, controlling their actions and dictating to them
in a poor society that is yet a shadow of what America used to be, all thanks
to liberal and progressives and their failed policies which have destroyed the
financial and moral foundations of nations, states, and cities already....
...our nation
will fall father and farther behind in developing energy and be
forced to transfer more and more wealth to tyrants overseas just because Obama
and the Democrats are slaves to a failed Green God religion and its corrupting
influence.
The very nature
of Obamacare is to transfer wealth from young to old, by
forcing healthy members of society who are choosing not to buy healthcare to
buy healthcare and subsidize the old people in society who use it. The promise
is there that someday they'll also get to join in the intergenerational theft,
but when America's debt soars ever higher, that promise will not be followed
through on, and besides, promises of intergenerational theft are still nothing
more than theft.
America's youth
will rue the day that they voted for Barack Obama on a naive
promise of hope and change and togetherness. They will rue the day....
My prediction
was that someday in
the future, America's youth will look back on the election of 2008 and think to
themselves that they should not have voted for him because in this distant
future America's youth will be unemployed and facing crumbling foundations and
massive debt. My prediction was wrong- it turns out, America's youth should be
ruing the day right now that they voted for Obama, because now none of
them have jobs:
Just 55.3
percent of Americans
between 16 and 29 have jobs.
That means that
almost half of all
young people are not getting any job experience and are not gaining critical
job skills, and in the decades to come, now will be a lost period during which
the future did not set themselves up for a brighter future. Instead the young
are draining the resources of other productive people in society by living at
home and eating food paid for by their parents, who could have been using using
that money to invest or save for retirement or give to charity.
Although I was
not able to find any information to compare 55.3% to from the
Department of Labor, I was able to find a paper
which
suggests a pre-Obama employment rate for 16 to 29 year olds of 65%.
This suggests that the addition of variable "President Obama" to the
American economic equation resulted in an increase in 1 in 10 young people not
being able to find a job due to his job-killing policies.
The reason why
these young people can not find jobs is not because 'Bush lied
and soldiers died' in Iraq, it is not because Bush didn't stop global warming,
it is not because the Republicans are 'obstructing' tax increases and increased
government spending, and it is not because 'tea party people are racist.' The
reason why young people can not find jobs is that legislation and policies
passed by Obama and the Democrats make it more expensive to hire workers (such
as increased healthcare costs associated with Obamacare), make it more risky to
expand production (when government policies could change and turn on any sort
of industry), when being productive makes you more of a target (the 'evil rich'
are being attacked by class-warfare playing Obama), and that the government is
encouraging young people to not get jobs by pushing more student loans on them
and getting them covered on their parents insurance longer.
Young people,
because they are up-and-coming and energetic and healthy and
productive and strong, should vote conservative and Republican, so that
government gets off their backs and lets them be all that they can be.
ANYBODY BUT
OBAMA 2012!!!!
"Obama draws on the spirit of 08" should really read...Obama draws on the ignorance of 08!!
That's okay. With people like you behind him, Romney doesn't stand a chance in hell.
....and Romney doesn't have a clue. Check Romney's tax plan, it doesn't reduce the deficit, but it does make the poor pay more and the rich pay less.
Amen Tony, and some of the same fools that fell for his lies will vote for him again. Some people never wise up.They'll be whining their butts off if the dumbo gets re-elected. I'll be laughing my ass off too. Damned FOOLS never learn.
Blame it on Bush campaign slogan?
Yea, how dare anyone. The guy only cut taxes, started two unfunded wars and depleted a huge surplus leading to the biggest recession since the Great Depression. But facts don't matter to you drones. You act like Bush never existed. Truth is, i'm amazed at how far we've come back under Obama, despite stubborn resistance from an obstructionist opposition party. But keep dreaming, because you're way behind in almost every poll, with every voting class, except the wealthy and angry white men.
way behind? hmmmmmmmm
fairandopen...The history books show us that Bush, despite the ignorant Lil Abner righties desire to the contrary, WAS the president under whom Iraq cost us $3.2 trillion and made Halliburton richer than God. It WAS Bush who ended his presidency with the September 2008 Financial Meltdown. No matter how right wing dunderheads try to shove that on President Obama, all your ilk do is show your inability to man up and accept blame with honor.
There is no such thing as Honor in the republican party
Just wondering how long everthing is going to be blamed on Bush?
roc1960...If you rob a bank, would you expect to lay blame on someone else? Get a clue. Take blame like a man. If you can't, well...there's always the coward's way out...look around until you find someone stupid enough to take blame for you.
Ask Herbert Hoover
TonyBeerm...Good one...and now...which Democratic president was the one who said, "The Buck Stops Here"?
tony,
"Truth is, i'm amazed at how far we've come back under Obama,...". Wouldn't that be fallen back under obama?
Obama rhetoric similar to Hoover?
ewent, The "Blame Bush" excuse is getting old, he is gone! Instead of constant blame it would be nice to see change.
No wonder his name is "Stupidita" - he really thinks Obama caused the Recession and that Bush never got us into it. He thinks that the healthcare system in the USA really works. LOL. I'm not Obama's biggest fan, especially when the slogan crap comes up, but I have to ask myself - Is Mitt Romney the solution? Does he have a solution? Does he relate to the average American? The only answer that comes to mind is H3LL NO!!! He just wants the title to add to his Trophy list. Anyone running for President with 250 million net worth is nut job. Run Toto run....
Potable2 -
Loved your post. And your right, Romney doesn't know any "average Americans." He even thinks that specially bake cookies come from 7/11.
What an out of touch DOLT.
Tom I left you a note in your profile section.
Hope it helps your life style.
Roger...Is that the only defense righties can muster these days? They never accept responsbility for anything they ever do and then look around like twerps for someone else to lay their blame on. Sorry, we older ones see that childish BS for what it is.
How about a little Daycare Generation grow up instead of that kneejerk jerky judgmentalism your generation is soooo good at?
pot meet kettle- the left has taken blame to a whole new level!
Crystal...You've yet to put a single fact into your posts. So it's easy to see why your posts lack credibility. Here are some facts to lay blame upon. Congress from 2000 to 2006 was in the control of Republicans. Go ahead, rightie...deny that one. Congress in 2001 voted to hand corporations billions in taxpayer revenue to hire and create jobs...go ahead rightie....deny that too. Now check the GAO report for 2004 where it stated that 1% who took all that money actually hired or created jobs...So rightie where are the jobs?
Fact: The Dept. of Labor in 2008 reported 8 million were out of work and salaries of Middle Class Americans had stagnated to 1971 levels...go ahead rightie ...deny that.
I'm so fed up with mouth ass right wingers and your yadda yadda ching ching BS that has zero facts and then when you are slapped in the yaps with truth and facts, these dumb asses sit there and deny, deny, deny...as if denial EVER changes facts. So...Who is the pot and who is the kettle?
Why not just admit you hate Obama because he isn't white? Roflmao...How much easier does it need to get to show who is really the dumbasses in this country?
Oh yeah, how predictable to drag out the race card- so much for credibility! Pathetic
How in the hell can you call a black guy a Obama hater for being Black. Your just sooo dumb Fn fool.
Now I can see where your hate comes from, your a poor black guy, without 16 years of education or maybe you spent 6 years in 3rd grade. and only completed 18 months of high school. Fn dummy
Event what taxes your GOV. handout is direct deposit. An honest day of work isn't robbing ,getting some rocks, and sneaking a 40oz.er from 7-11. the hatred you carry is displayed in most every post. Yet anyone with smarts sees your I Q is only SINGLE DIDGET
how about capturing the spirit of America and replacing this clown with
someone who can actually do the job and not just somebody who is a good
salesman.
ANYBODY BUT OBAMA 2012!!!
RECAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA!!!!!
VOTE FOR ROMNEY-AT LEAST HE'S AMERICAN!!!
"I didn’t run, and you didn’t work your hearts out, just to win an election," Obama said in Richmond. He added, toward the end of his remarks: "If people ask you ‘what’s this campaign about?’ you tell them it’s still about hope. You tell them it’s still about change." Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot??? That has to be one of the most assnine statements this tool has made! Maybe the good folks of our 57th state will believe his dribble, but I've learned that you can tell bho is lying when he opens his mouth...
Well, it's not surprising. David Plouffe, Obama's campaign guru, had him run as a "blank screen" in 2008- on which people hearing his lofty words could project their own meaning.
Plouffe brought that skill set across the pond -and attempted the "blank screen" approach for Britain's Labour Party- despite it's being in full control for a generation. It failed.
Plouffe, the one trick pony, is employing the same trick here- despite Obama's record.
Is the electorate dumb enough to fall for it.?
I doubt it.
as opposed to his opponent who can't control the diarrhea coming from his mouth? Do you really think this guy is going to smarten up in less than 6 months? Ive got him self imploding by July.
NPC Dan...No. The stupidest tool was Cheney's puppet you elected twice to eff up this country. How did you miss Cheney's puppet's long history of failures before he ever got himself squeezed into the White House?
But the stupid tool I always loved when Bush sat beside a woman who had to work 3 jobs to get a living wage and then Mr. Crawford Swagger Swagger Boom Boom called her "uniquely American". Obama 2012...Eat your hearts out.
Tony...Not to worry...a lot of us in the blue states are quite fed up with those good ole good ole boi politicans running this country into the ground. We pay taxes so we can have the things WE want. Not the things the good ole bois want which is always profit for the only industries their dumb ass business communities can muster. So yes. They will pollute the entire country with their slime ball filthy corporations. They will grab as much of our federal tax revenues to pay for things their state taxes should pay for and yes...they will try and get a strangle hold on our incomes up to and including every dime we try to save. After all, which culture in this country loves that plantation mentality best?
Glo, too true especially pulling the race card. Obama was elected in '08 without regard to race but starting with his triumphant, narcissistic victory trip to Kenya (at taxpayers expense!) all the way to his new Black Americans for Obama in 2012 (vote by color) campaign, he has been dividing America with racism to gain advantage for himself and his party. He now campaigns on a "Forward" mantra but has set us back 50 years with his divisive, racist messaging. We need new leadership for damage control if nothing else!
Stan,
Wow...Fox news really rots your brain...
Are you making this up or being sarcastic? I've heard some really stupid stuff from you guys, but this is beyond belief. If you want an example, go to a Romney campaign rally and tell me how diverse the crowd is. The only blacks you'll see are the security detail and the employees of the venue where it's held. Don't give me that bulls--t. WE KNOW WHO THE REAL RACIST'S ARE. Epic fail at a spin.
Stan...Did you mind the taxes that paid for Laura Adora and her 2 drunken daughters to visit half of Europe and the Taj Mahal? I'll bet not. Red staters with ignorant closet racism they learned from Big Momma and Big Daddah.
Must really eat up these right wing loonies to know a man they consider inferior because he's black is 100 times smarter than they'll ever be. But that's what comes of chintzy ass red state conservatism that refuse to use state and federal taxes education. Cut, cut, cut...cut the crappola. Your Obama bashing is almost 4 years old. YOu don't have a Republican who can even hope to compete.
Stan you must think everyone in this country is stupid Obama wan not eleceted without mention to race I recall the Presidents speech on race because of republicans made a big deal out of Jerimiah Wrights semons. The republicans have been dividing this counry for years that's what their southern strategy was about dividing the country, and still do with their race baiting comments so stop wasting your time trying to fool the people with revisionionst post
Stan...Get a clue. Republicans are doing everything they can to take this country back to free slave labor days. Which party sidles up to Big Business by handing Big Oil $12 billion in tax subsidies as if Big Oil needs it? Which party has gotten their Republican governors to do all they can to reduce healthcare coverage for women? Which party poked more holes in campaign, finance, consumer protection and healthcare reform all so their ritzy titzies wouldn't lose a dime of profit?
The day right wingers learn to be honest first with themselves, the dome on the capital building will glow from fright.
Harold...these are pathetic cretons who suffer from affluenza they can only get from our hard earned money. So now their little hinnies are pinched from the discomfort for the first time in their lives that they can't continue their feeding frenzy on our incomes.
Not to worry about the Republican party. RoMONEY won't win. They know that. They've already lost some of their very best, most respected Republicans thanks to Tea Party prissy pants bois like Cantor, Ryan, Cronyn and Boehner.
These little twerps actually think the older Americans won't retaliate if they dare to try and to usurp our rights much less what we worked decades to earn.
But to show you how stupid these middle aged Tea Party twerps are, if they read Ryan's Dream Budget, they'd know that their tax free 401Ks are on the chopping block. Wall Street isn't making the kinds of 30-second ROI it once might have and so now, since they know they'd have to pay back every dime we paid into Social Security if they dared go after that, they looked to the next best hit...the 401Ks.
That would make your Bush-bashing almost 12 years old. Geez, even I stopped hating my ex-wife after 10 or so.
I see the FOX trolls are out this morning....
As opposed to the dumb-as*es of MSNBC?
Dude...really? The BS that comes out of your mouth should be coming out the other end. FOX is all propaganda, and you fools buy it lock, stock, and barrel.
I always find it interesting on here when someone disagrees with your post. The name calling starts!! I thought that was supposed to stop when you left kindergarten.
anything with Obama in the title draws them out. Can't wait to put in their nonsensical remarks. Don't worry, the people aren't buying it and the trolls know they have no one to unseat this president. He'll be gone in Jan 2017.
MSNBC is the mouth piece for Obama. Even Mica on Morning Joe admitted that when they say something the White House doesn't like.....Valerie Jarrett calls the program to let them know. Sad......Most of the main stream media is controlled by Obama. But Americans are smart enough to stop buying the propaganda.
Someone that constantly uses the word "Dude" in their grammar constantly come across as not too bright and uneducated!
DTJB - You're probably not the real DTJB. So let me get this straight - the MSM, which includes all the major networks, and MSNBC, versus FOX. LMAO. Yeah, the majority of Americans are smart enough to know the FOX is all propaganda.
Tony - I only used the word once. As far as uneducated....I'll put up my MD against anything that you have.
MD my azz! Burger flipper more likely!!!
@computerdoc
In your case, MD means Mental Disorder!!!
that's okay. I'm sure Tony lives in his mom's basement, rent free. And you should be thankful for burger flippers because that's probably all you eat.
DownTownJulieBrown - Controlled by Obama? REALLY? How is that possible? Can you show me how President Obama controls the media?
This has to be my final comment on any of your posts.... uneducated whining and complaining.... Yawn.
Doc,
Remember when dealing with teabaggers, education means nothing, in fact it makes you a snob. Clinging to "beliefs" and prejudices is what they want, no facts, no logic, just 3 word slogans...Just a heads up
md's are often over rated
We the corporation:
I know people who have the education, and I commend them for it. However, having the education doesn't necessarily mean they have any common sense.
Tony-718521
MD my azz! Burger flipper more likely!!!
--------------------------------
In my case, MD means Medical Doctor - I save lives for living. What do you do for a living?
I Agree 100% with tonybeeerm's description of you...
fairandopen
md's are often over rated
-----------------------
Remember that the next time you have to seek healthcare....moron
See!
They have common sense enough to get an education...
Yea, right. Can't believe the stupidity of these trolls.
The most educated in this country never show off about it. They simply use it for the good of the entire country. The mouthy ones show their lack thereof.
Hiding money in offshore accounts, refusing to show back tax records. Deleting hard drives from computers in his administration when was Gov. How UN-American is that?
Kowtowing down to right wing radio and firing gay staff member. Even radio personality Bryan Fischer himself said "If Mitt Romney can be pushed around, intimidated, coerced, co-opted by a conservative radio talk show host in Middle America, then how is he going to stand up to the Chinese? How is he going to stand up to Putin? How is he going to stand up to North Korea if he can be pushed around by a yokel like me? I don’t think Romney is realizing the doubts that this begins to raise about his leadership."
Are all right wingers liars and hypocrits? Which president went around the country for more than 18 months after 9/11 marketing a war in Iraq? And when he didn't get that, lied through his blowhard mouth that there were WMDs in Iraq ready to kill Americans any minute?
Now, they get a squeaky clean president and their lying hypocrital cancer is eating them alive.
Dear President, we, the 99% Americans are with you ALL THE WAY to Victory! The corrupt Republican corporate MONARCHY & their PAID FOR corrupt political puppets, like exlax ETCH-A-SKETCH have made SLAVES OF US, all for the sake of their CAPITALISTIC GREED! We, the 99% Americans don't want or need a MONARCH GOVERNMENT! We want government to be a SERVICE TO US, not to the corrupt corporates and their PAID FOR political puppets! They tried running our Postal Service as a Business and the corrupt corporates that send their junk through the mail GET A BULK RATE! Why? The corporates need to pick up the tab for the postal service! And on & on & on & on!!! It's time for change, and that time is NOW! Not later, but right NOW!!!
Did anybody read this post? Slightly confused to say the least. Corporate Monarchy? The 99% are with him - you got to be kidding. Many of the 99% can see through this incompetent President. I'll bet you are either black, a union member, on social funding, or food stamps.
99% lol ....Thats interesting, considering his approval rating right now is 48%
TR rose
Corporate monarchy is physically impossible due to t a monarchy is ruled by one person to where as a corporation is by many...
I am sure Mr President as a few checks coming his way from corporations as well...
well then why hasnt Obama instituted that WH pay for thier postage stamps? that would help.
and no the corporations do not need to pick up the tab being the postal service is ran as its our corporation funded by its own generated revenue..yes it is part of the fed but like I said it is funded by profits..the reason they are failing is due to competition from companies like FedEx, ups and the fact that your basic good old fashion letter is for a lack of better terms obsolete....and oh you can get bulk rate too you know.....if it fits it ships...that's bulk rate
okay 'TR', here goes:
(1) Go in the booth
(2) Look for the jackass
(3) Pull that handle
TR Rose - It is this administration that has made slaves of those that want to bound. Slaves to the entitlement that has been drummed into your conscious. Have respect for yourself, work hard and take nothing from nobody. The Government and Americans owes you nothing. I am sick and tired of this Pay your fair share, 99% -1% crap. Grow up and quit your frigging whining!
I meant to reply to Rose, sorry for the duplicate
SO TR.....which one are you, "liberal or Gay" or both????? Because both of those will keep you ignorant in this case! please spare me the "bigot" crap, whatever tickles your pickle I DONT CARE! But if you are looking to take it hard, Barry's gonna give it to ya (figuratively speaking!) Remember He only cares about your vote for the " COMMON PURPOSE " <---Goggle that! and be educated!
Troy you are a idiot
Oh yeh......"I really care what YOU think, HAROLD!!!!!!! lol
Well SallyAnn-4595694 If Clinton did his job and stopped playing with his "GUN" He could have gotten Bin Laden TWICE.
Nice deflection, but was that before or after Osama killed 3000 Americans?
Who was warned specifically while on VACATION about this?
Who couldn't find him for 7 years and $1,000,000,000,000?
Who found him and killed him without a WAR using a surgical tool the way he said he would?
Quite blaming Clinton, he hasn't been president for 12 YEARS
USS Cole, Attempt on Clinton"s life while visiting Philippines ( Bombs placed on original motorcade route ) Al Queda/Bin Laden took responsibility of both. Intelligence reports to Clinton about Bin Laden and his plans, Sandy Berger?
@We the corporations- Being a veteran of the war on terror, I have to say you have no idea what you're talking about. The war that was fought by Bush and our armed forces for 7 years is the reason why our current President was able to take credit for the killing of OBL. Since that happened a year ago, he has pranced around patting himself on the back about what a great job he did in making the decision to okay the raid. That was a big decision don't get me wrong, but do you really believe that any other President wouldn't have made the same decision after all the intelligence that was gathered for 7 years before Obama took office? Please don't tell me that you think his administration deserves the credit for this. He sent more troops to Afghanistan when he took over and only after OBL was killed did he start the withdrawal. I'm glad he, as well as Bush, spent what they did on this war because the end result is what we, as Americans, wanted. For you to say that Obama found and killed him (which we obviously know it was the brave SEALS who went in and actually killed him) without a war is ridiculous. You do know that there is still a war going on over there despite what democrats want to call it. I fought two tours overseas, one under Bush and one under Obama, and let me tell you that Obama was by far the worst commander in chief this country has ever had. He is disrespectful of the military and his speech in Afghanistan last week to kick off his campaign where he once again gave himself credit for OBL in front of current military personnel was extremely distasteful. We need a President who will do the right thing because that is his job, not because he wants a pat on the back. Anyone but Obama in 2012!
Ask Obama about "Common Purpose"........And why so many people that he is affiliated with, attended "Common Purpose" If you dont know what it is, then Google it!......If you are looking to live in a country where you told what to do and how to do it, and where the Government dictates who becomes a leader (common purpose) Then vote for Obama 2012!
Romney's Swiss bank account was closed. And besides...You or I and Romeny could have a "swiss" bank account. We could walk into the UBS bank in NYC and open one.
Obama couldn't even fill a stadium. They had to move people down to the center floor to make it look full.
I guess Obama's HOAX AND CHAINS message isn't looking so good anymore. People are tired of the lies.
LOL that's okay.... Romney has more in the Caymen Islands. Why doesn't he post his full tax returns? Oh wait, he has to hide more of his money so he won't have to pay his fair share of taxes.
Yes, we are tired of lies.. that's why we gave former President Bush a 20% approval rating at the end of his term. Guess it has to do with those imaginary weapons of mass destruction.
don't re-nig
hey man not a fan of his politics but that is not right...i ask you kindly not to use phrases like that and keep your ignorance to your self
There you have it. Thnx to Pete Williams who truly represents the TP/GOP's point of view. Please do not collapse these kind of comments in the future. I want everyone to see how enlightened the other side really is.
Terrorism/terrorist= people living in fear
Barack Hussein Obama= me living in fear
Terrorist= Barack Hussein Obama
Just a point of view from an American American
What a crock of BS..you are not an American. Obama is not a terrorist. Only a fool would believe that.
There have been more bullets put in terrorists heads under the Obama administration than any other President ....ever.
Real doctors would not be obot tools, they realize what a cluster^&% obamacare is.
Yeah they realize it will only be a brand new lexus this year instead of a high end benz. Poor doctors are hurting especially the ones ripping off the current system. Billions every yea. As for Bush and his dem congress it takes 60 votes so someone gave him his economy killing tax breaks and it was not just dems.
To COMPUTERDOCTORHC
You need a doctor. Typical leftty liberal dem no facts just DRIVEL. The issue is simple JOBS JOBS JOBS.
Remember
Remember Three years ago, Obama said if the economy hadn’t turned around by this time, his presidency would be “A ONE-TERM PROPOSITION”
“I will cut the deficit in half”
Remember ‘IT’S THE ECONOMY STUPID’
The question is “ARE YOU BETTER OFF TODAY THAN YOU WERE 4 YEARS AGO?”
Actually, I am a doctor. Liberal democrats = no facts? LMAO. You and the rest of the idiots at FOX are driven by NO FACTS - YOU MAKE UP YOUR OWN!
So Bush gets 8 years to muck up the world, and Obama only gets 3 years to fix his mess? Mental midget...
Am I better off today that I was 4 years ago? HELL YES WE ARE! Me and the rest of the 99% are better of today than we were under Bush.
And where are those jobs promised from the repubs and the 2%'ers who said 'we will create jobs if we get yet another tax break'?
30+ years of trickle down is proven to be a failure.
REMEMBER - Repubs have misused and abused the filibuster to the detriment of all Americans.
REMEMBER - Anything to make Obama a one term president - propose numerous abortion bills but do nothing to stimulate the economy. Obstruct and deflect.
REMEMBER - Repubs are afraid of a radio personality (Limbaugh) and have apologized to him repeatedly. Who runs the country? It shouldn't be Limbaugh.
REMEMBER - Repubs bow down and worship the Norquist petition no matter how much it hurts. Party over country. All the repubs want is a body to sign whatever the party decides, and the party is run by Norquist/Rove/Koch brothers.
We are not going to get out of this through tax cuts alone. We need to reform the tax code, SS, medicare, military, and increase revenue until the debt is under at least $2 Trillion.
I want some of what your smoking moron!!!!!!!!!!Better off ha that is a laugh.
Let's see here under Bush i had a job Under Odumbo i have been out of work the biggest part of his term.
Since Odumbo took office i have watched 3 out of the 5 factories in the town i live in go from hiring hand over fist to closing there doors.Rumors have it the largest one left(1300 total employees)will soon be closing and moving to China.
Get Odumbo's dick out of your mouth it seems to cloud your vision this country is far worse off than 4 years ago.All Odumbo can do is point fingers.
NOBAMA 2012
COMPUTERDOCTORRHC........ YOU stated. That your a doctor, and in the same breath, YOUR a 99%............. I'll call you, what you really are....... A lost soul....
Well let me steal one of your team's favorite quotes. "Get off of your ass and start looking for one." Quit blaming others for your problems. I see now hiring signs all over the place. You're delusional as well as angry, whitemale. Did your wife run off with someone?
There are hiring signs everywhere, but this administration has indocrinated the uneducated minions against work. Pelousy said the healthcare would allow people to QUIT their jobs and that unemployment and welfare are good for the economy. Obama spent his life sniffing out other people's money and now he has the key to the treasury. One Big Azzed Mistake America! One and done!
wOW!!! tHE JACK BOOTS ARE REALLY OUT MARCHING TODAY!!!! Look at the precision of those goosestep! Very impressive. I've never seen so much venom and bile. What a shame that's all I'm seeing here. Does anyone have any criticisms here today against Obama other than he inherited Bushco's debt and tanked economy? No?? Anyone?? Anyone? Anything at all?????No?
All I'm asking for is a clean election at the poles. NO Black Panther intimidation at poling places, NO Acorn fraud, and how about a little truth from the media? Then who ever is elected we can sit back and say "the people have spoken!"
The North and South poles? Or did you mean polls?
Both Black Panthers? That threat is a joke. Come up with something to REALLY be afraid of - like corporations are people too.
Too many idiots don't know the difference between voter REGISTRATION fraud and voter fraud. Two entirely different things. One is a misdemeanor and the other is a felony.
Since you probaly listen to Limbaugh, Faux News, and the Blaze - you wouldn't know anything about truth from the media.
blearryeyed: Thanks for pointing out my typing error. I did mean polls. Actually I don't watch those programs. Apparently you know quite a bit about them, as you point them out as someone who has knowledge of them.
Terry Put the weed down you are to high. The voting rights laws that are being passed around the country by republican lead statehouses is an attempt to supress votes so your notion that we are goning to sit back and have a clean election is B.S and you know it
Terry, it's pretty obvious where you get your information from. You've repeated verbatim what is drilled into the heads of teapublicans on a continual basis. If you believe that Black Panther crap, you're totally misinformed. And Acorn fraud as opposed to invading a country on bogus intelligence? C'mon now. It's no contest.
Mr. incompetent is quite a campaigner. Let's see from hope and change to moving forward. He should write jingles for a car insurance company. What a joke. No the real joke is the Americans who think he should remain in office. Some of the same who put someone with NO experience at running anything in the top CEO job in the world. The government does not create jobs. We need to support corporations (it is America) and want them to grow. He has no accomplishments to run on, except Bin Laden.
The president is NOT the CEO of the country. That's the big problem with those who support x (insert repub candidate here). Govt and business are entirely different. Look what happened when businessman Bush ran the coutry into the ground.
I see what happened while Obama is / was president. Another Jimmy Carter.
Worst President in History. (tied with Jimmy Carter) both Democrats who were well educated but drank water from the stupid water fountain.
To Lurchz
He will do what O BLA BLA MA does
BOW BOW BOW to every and any foreign person he meets. By the way its JOBS JOBS JOBS. Oh thats right you dont want to talk about that. remember:
Remember Three years ago, Obama said if the economy hadn’t turned around by this time, his presidency would be “A ONE-TERM PROPOSITION”
“I will cut the deficit in half”
Remember ‘IT’S THE ECONOMY STUPID’
The question is “ARE YOU BETTER OFF TODAY THAN YOU WERE 4 YEARS AGO?”
To j buonocore
Bush was LOSING 750,000 jobs as he left office. Now we are gaining jobs every month. No more negative numbers. So yeah, the job market is WAY better.
Lurchz. You have fallen into the deep abyss of Democrat/Progressive propaganda and stupidity.
There have been no jobs created and millions lost due to Obama and his inability to govern. He is a loser and has no clue.
Average American-2299641
So how many jobs did Bush lose? No jobs crated and millions lost under Obama?
Fox News really does rot your brain.
One of the many problems with the job numbers is that they don't cover the college students that graduate and can't find employment.......you know, the ones that are part of Occupy Wall Street. The ones with student loans?
We just had another college graduating class in April......I wonder how the jobs picture is looking for them?
Frankly, the economy is not adding jobs at the levels that are needed for a true economic recovery. We really do need a European economic recovery so we can sell more products there, as well as a real fair trade policy with certain Asian countries.
The economy and foreign trade should have been job one at the time of election, not three years into his term.
What a waste of human, go O D and save humanity from your fle brained thinking
It is hilarious to watch the liberal meltdown, when they can not defend the abysmal record of this administration, they start Fox news bashing and pull out the race card. It really drives them nuts that Fox is the highest rated news source and allows people an alternative to the MSNBC crap.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul ensures you will always have Paul's support, especially when Paul is a useful idiot.
Great post, thanks....
The problem President Obama, is that I now have three years of your actions to judge you upon rather than all that fancy speaking and rhetoric. Oh sure you're a great speaker but your actions have been anything but what your words were. If you actually want to get another vote from myself and people like me you need to go back through your '08 campaigning and enact all the things you said you were going to, then maybe I will consider it.
Until then you will just be another war mongerer, you will just be the guy who has ramped up a failed war on drugs on our dime, you will just be the guy who constantly capitulates to the GOP, business, and religion. Sorry but that is not who I voted for, I hope after the election you will understand that politicians are held to what they say, you are just as much of a flip-flopper as Romney you're just better at talking your way out of that.
.....obama, the great orator, but the terrible performer........empty words (but meant to pander), unless actions. But, in his defense, he has accumulated the largest "in-office" campaign fund (reported at over 100 million USD) of any president while sitting in office over the last 3 1/2 years - that's his one major accomplishment.......oh, did I say in his defense?
Dear President, insofaras STUDENT LOANS are concerned, let's be REALISTIC! The Republican corporates REAP THE HARVEST from the GRADUATES, so, let's let THEM PAY THE LOAN OFF for EACH STUDENT THAT GRADUATES! They stole our PENSIONS & gave us THEIR INSURANCE POLICY 401k, which does nothing more than say IF THEY FAIL, SO DO WE!! We, the 99% Americans know what you are up against, but TOGETHER, like MLK said, "WE SHALL OVERCOME!"
By the way Pres, this message is from a LIFELONG DEVOUT REPUBLICAN who is totally disgusted with the corrupt Republican corporates & their OBVIOUS political puppets! I personally HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN but the SATISFACTION that I may be helping my fellow Americans help themselves! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, against ALL ODDS! THANK YOU!
Sure. Take out a loan, whine about paying it back. An education is an investment in youself. Want to have the corporation pay for it? Intern.... Instead of drinking beer and hanging out for four or five years..
TR: I went to college at night while working a full time job. It took me 5 years to get a four year degree, all paid for with college loans which took ten years to repay. Nobody handed me anything. If you want it bad enough, you'll figure out how to do it on your own, and not expect someone else to do it for you.
Another whining loser, that can't pull his own weight.
Talk about political puppets, Obama's administration, or should I say, cast of clowns, is eat up with them !
The 401K is the best investment opportunity that ever happened to me. You didn't invest well or contribute enough, it was your choice.
