Ann Romney and Mitt Romney address an audience during a victory rally in Schaumburg, Ill., on March 20.
The gender gap has returned to presidential politics with a vengeance as the general election begins to take shape and presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney finds his campaign struggling with the pivotal bloc of women voters.
The Romney campaign is waging an aggressive counter-offensive in response to weeks of Democratic assertions that the former Massachusetts governor and the Republican Party are waging a “war on women.”
“They're working desperately to change the subject, and that's why they've created this whole 'war on women' campaign,” Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the top-ranking Republican woman in the House, on a conference call organized by the Romney campaign. “There's no war on women by Republicans. What's really going on is a ‘war on reality’ by Democrats.”
Republicans are now working to re-frame issues of importance to women after eager messaging efforts by Democrats to advance the “war on women” narrative, which has contributed to a Republican disadvantage with female voters in 2012. It's a deficit aided by a hard-charging fight over access to contraception led by some Republicans earlier this year.
When Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus asserted in an interview last week that the media would just as quickly report a “war on caterpillars” if Democrats insisted it were the case, the Democratic National Committee pounced, and hyper-actively accused Priebus of trivializing women’s rights by drawing such a comparison.
First Thoughts: Romney struggles to close gender gap, but catches break
That Democratic argument reached a fever pitch on Wednesday when a Romney surrogate, speaking on a conference call, hesitated to say whether Romney supported a law making it easier for women to file lawsuits challenging pay disparities.
A spokesperson for Romney said later in the day that the former governor wouldn't do anything to change current law, but Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the DNC chairwoman, nonetheless called the Romney campaign's momentary failure to provide an answer "utterly shocking."
Ann Romney, the wife of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, took to Twitter and the airwaves to defend her decision to be a stay-at-home mom.
Now with the primary campaign mostly behind him, Romney has begun working to address the issue on the trail. His rhetoric at a pair of campaign stops – at each of which there were plenty of women sharing the stage – on Wednesday marked a preliminary effort by the Romney campaign to push back against the Democratic storyline.
“The real war upon women has been waged by his economic policies,” Romney said Wednesday in Connecticut. “Let’s hammer day in and day out what has happened under his policies, and recognize those policies, those things he believes, do not work.”
But the Romney campaign’s struggles in their attempts to reach women voters were on equal display as the candidate and his campaign repeated a dubious statistic about women accounting for nine of 10 jobs lost during Obama’s time in office.
It wasn’t until a consultant outside of the Obama campaign suggested that the GOP candidate’s wife, Ann Romney, had “never worked a day in her life” that the Romney campaign was able to stanch Democratic momentum.
That gaffe, at least temporarily, gave Republicans an opening.
The Romney campaign quickly organized a conference call and Ann Romney hit the airwaves for an interview to combat the charges. (Senior Obama officials also quickly disavowed the comments by consultant Hilary Rosen).
First Thoughts: Romney struggles to close gender gap, but catches break
But the back-and-forth bickering obscured a larger battle Romney must fight to make up ground with women. A Washington Post/ABC News poll released this week found Romney trailing Obama by 19 percent among registered women voters. (By contrast, Romney leads by eight percent among registered male voters.)
“It should definitely be a concern,” said Dan Judy, a Republican pollster for North Star Opinion Research. “I don't think they need to hit the panic button at this point, but that's something that you're going to see them work hard on.”
In the Daily Fix, NBC's Andrea Mitchell talks to The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza and the Daily Beast's Michelle Goldberg about the widening gender gap in the general election and Hilary Rosen's comments about Ann Romney.
Romney’s strategy to address his deficit among women has been virtually indistinguishable from his work to court other demographics – like Latinos – or, for that matter, the general electorate as a whole. That is, Romney argues that improving the overall economy is just as paramount to women as anybody else and that the president’s record has fallen far short on that score.
Republicans argue that the former Massachusetts governor’s struggles are partly attributable to collateral damage from a divisive Republican primary season and a persistent focus in Congress and on the state level about access to contraception.
A prime example came in Virginia, where Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell had to back off supporting a controversial proposal to require women to undergo an invasive ultrasound procedure before terminating a pregnancy. And Rick Santorum, who suspended his presidential campaign this week, spent weeks answering questions about his personal opposition to birth control.
Romney is likely to make up some of that ground just by virtue of campaigning in a general election environment. ("People haven't had a chance to listen to us or hear us," his wife said in an interview on FOX News.)
First Thoughts: Romney struggles to close gender gap, but catches break
But the million-dollar question involves whether much of that collateral damage will linger with Romney, and how he might go about addressing his gender gap.
“They need to drive the conversation away from women’s bodies to the economy," said Sabrina Schaeffer, the executive director of the conservative Independent Women’s Forum, adding Romney should "come up with some tangible examples of how they can help women on things like employment, health care, education and other issues.”
Schaeffer argued that Romney might package together squarely conservative proposals on entitlements, education and health care in a way that’s appealing to women. She also warned the campaign against being caught flat-footed on issues like the fair pay law a surrogate had declined to speak about on Wednesday.
RealClearPolitic's Erin McPike and The Atlantic's Molly Ball talk about Ann Romney's response to Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen's comments.
“They need to think carefully about how to respond to issues like Lilly Ledbetter,” she said.
Cheri Jacobus, the founder of Capitol Strategies, a Republican consulting firm, also encouraged the Romney campaign to employ more women surrogates.
“I think that it’s always helpful to have effective surrogates from all walks of life,” she said.
For their part, Democrats argue that Romney’s deficit with women is about far more than messaging.
“When it comes to connecting with women, it’s not just an optics problem – it’s a substance problem,” said Jess McIntosh, the deputy communications director for the Democratic women’s group, EMILY’s List. “Even if Romney could put a really great spin on his anti-woman regressive policies, they would still be anti-woman regressive policies. And despite what the GOP may think, women notice that.”
First Thoughts: Romney struggles to close gender gap, but catches break
But for Romney, making inroads with women might also depend on the kind of women he targets.
The Republican pollster, Judy, suggested that young, unmarried women might be a taller order for Romney to win than, say, suburban, middle-aged mothers. These voters are the ones the Romney campaign is targeting when it rolls out Ann Romney, one of its most effective surrogates for the campaign due to her biography as a mother of five who’s suffered from breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.
Republican thinking suggests that if Romney steers clear of hot-button social issues like contraception and keeps his focus on the economy, he could be more competitive with Obama in winning the female vote.
“Women voters, especially the more independent-minded female voters in the swing states are critical to either party if they want to win,” Judy said. “Mitt Romney has an opportunity to get some of those women back."

I'm shaking the Etch-A-Sketch but it won't erase!
lololololololol
I love this.
Every day Romney and the Republicans spend arguing about the “war on women”, “war on religion” and the “war on immigration/Hispanics” is another day they don’t talk about the real issues and look ever more like the out of touch Party.
This is a 3D chess match and Romney and the Republicans don’t even know how to play checkers.
If I remember correctly, the Etch-A-Sketch has two dials. That's probably one more than many of the people in the GOP could handle as they try to draw images on the Etch-A-Sketch.
And no matter how many times they turn it over and shake it, the images of what the GOP has said and done over the years with regard to women's rights will not be forgotten by most women and they will vote accordingly.
They are pretty good at Twister though...
Isn't that the truth.
Obama is a populist. He pulls at every populist thread he can hoping to fool just enough people to pull off a win this fall. That was fine for 2008, when Obama had no record to run on. But things have changed. Now Obama wants to distract people from his record of failure, and this War on Women, Wall Street, Congress, the Tea Party, Republicans, Rich People, [fill in the blank], are all he has left to talk about.
Obama doesn't want to talk about the past or the present, he doesn't want to talk about the (lack of) results of his administration, he doesn't want to talk about 8%+ unemployment, he doesn't want to talk about his soon to be failed Obamacare, he doesn't want to talk about nearly half the people in the country getting a government check, he doesn't want to talk about the $5 trillion in debt he's racked up, he doesn't want to talk about the under-employed. Obama wants to divide the country, point at successful people and say that they are the problem, and say he's the savior for all of those ills. Obama is no savior though, he's just a hack community organizer. A small man with worthless ideas, nothing better than a traveling salesman.
Reality is not Obama's friend.
Excellent Feisty.....LMAO!
Hope you're enjoying your day! Always good to see you here!!
It's a Republican war against women because Republicans refuse to accept the law that says a woman has her own right to choose what is right for her, and Republicans are fighting tooth and nail AGAINST that law. Ever since the Roe v. Wade decision, Republicans have been outspoken against trusting a woman to make the choice that is right for that individual.
That's just the plain truth of the matter, and if Romney doesn't get behind the notion that women should have NO RIGHT to make her own choices, Republicans are going to start raising some hell of their own and no doubt will threaten Romney for not being fit for office.
Obama / Biden 2012
MITT ROMNEY SUPPORTS THE RYAN PLAN THAT AFFECTS WOMEN AND CHILDREN DEEPLY.
Paul Ryan's Budget takes health insurance away from over 50 million Americans - to pay for a $3 trillion tax cut for the top 1%. Over 62% of the cuts to the Ryan budget are cuts to programs that serve lower-income Americans.
Ryan MAKES CLEAR the GOP/Koch plan to limit our children's access to quality education - and end their chances for a good future in a competitive global economy:
“The Department of Education would be cut by more than $115 billion over a decade. 9.6 million students would see their Pell Grants fall by more than $1000 in 2014, and, over the next decade, over one million students would lose support altogether. This would derail bipartisan education reforms and deeply undermine K-12 education and college opportunity […] Roughly two million slots in Head Start would be eliminated over the next decade — cutting 200,000 children from the program in 2014 alone.” [OMB, 3/21/12]
Joanna
really? REALLY? Reality is not a conservatives friend. never has been.
I want to expand on what I mean about the conservative alternate reality.
I can explain it to you but I can''t understand it for you.
JoAnna... How many times have conservative pundits, politicians and Faux news "reporters" ignored the past, especially with regards economic data (deficit spending, tax cut fall-out, etc.)? It seems to me that the past you speak of is only 3 years... as if any dramatic economic changes can occur in just three years. When GWB left office what was the monthly job loss average? When has under-employment EVER been considered by EITHER party? Yes, the Affordable Healthcare Act will probably not stand SCOTUS scrutiny (I think it is unconstitutional so lets shoot for single payer) but at the very least he tried to do something to cure the healthcare issues of the US, unlike GWB who gave the pharma industry a handout with medicare part D. What are Romney's ideas for helping the middle and poor afford the ever increasing cost of healthcare? Does he have any? As far as deficit spending goes, PLEASE compare the cost of medicare part D, Iraq, Afghanistan and BUSH TAX CUTS to the amount Obama was FORCED to spend to keep the US out of the GREATER depression.
Let go of your partisanship (as I try to do) and start thinking about what REALLY needs to be done in order to improve the condition of the MIDDLE & WORKING class. If Romney had good ideas I would listen to him BUT he DOES NOT.
Romney and War on Women....don't know whether to be mad or vomit. If feel like Rip Van Winkle, just waking up from a 40 year nap. "I thought we settled this already??"
How can he do that when these are concepts contrary to Republican ideology? Talk about a Catch-22!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9xyMuTgDlo
conservative alternate reality. joannesmiht must be in heaven.
I thought it was the economy stupid?
The GOP to Women: Give us your votes, because the bad Democrats do not deserve your loyalty. We will take care of all of the women that the Democrats neglected. What was that, you do not think like the GOP? Well, this is how a proper woman should think. You know the GOP will strip any social services, because any proper woman would have a man working to get her the things that she needs to survive. /sarcasm
Let's get back to the true issues at hand. We need to sure up the economic recovery and that will take compromising, so get on with the compromising you stupid politicians and quit being outraged over silly crap.
And thank you Ann Romney for asking us to respect women choices. Since you state that you husband listens to you, please relay that message to him and his anti-choice for women cronies.
No kidding Chris!
You can lead a Republican to knowledge but you can't make them think!
JoAnnaSmith1 I hope you don't forget that almost everything that the President wanted to try to do, even if was a Republican idea, was filibustered in the Senate so that people like you will think that he hasn't done anything. Dispite all the efforts made by Republican to make the President fail, most people are not stupid. They no that their kids can stay on their insurance policy until they are 26, they know preconditions and lifetime caps are gone, they know that women can't be paid less for the same job, they know they have a president who won't privatize social security or make medicare a voucher program. They know Ossama is dead along with AlQeda. They also know that this system is rigged in favor of the wealthy, mostly old white men who over the the last three hundred years exterminated 10 million native Americans, depopulated the continent of Africa of 40 million people and enslaved those they did not kill during the middle passage, and in two successive world wars killed about $70 million more people worldwide. Yet these old men still wake up every morning thinking they can continue to rob, steal, exploit and kill and stay in power. No, it has to stop. We don't need their way forward any longer and there are not enough sycophants like you to prop them up much longer.
It's not clear that we need a President that "tried". We need one with accomplishments. Obama's big accomplishment is of course Obamacare. He dragged the country through that fiasco, ignoring the GOP, buying votes, and doing backrooms deals. Sloppy work at best. And now it's soon to be thrown out. Real sloppy work.
Do you believe we're in a normal recovery? Doesn't look like it. Reagan took over with double digit inflation/unemployment with high interest rates and manged to turn it around.
What we're doing in this election is grading Obama's performance for the last four years and considering if he deserves another four. From the incompetence of Obamacare, to the massive deficit spending, to the failed stimulus, to the mocking of the Supreme Court, Obama doesn't have much to show to be considered for four more years.
It's always fun when a Lib talks big, but doesn't back it up. Kind of like Obama in fact.
Chris, I doubt you could explain how a paper bag works.
Wow do I hate partisan politics. It was bad enough when it was a competition for power and control, but now it has sunk down to semantics and pauses. Really people?? I'm appalled as an American here. We aren't able to elect a person based on their merits, we have to vote for the lesser of two evils. This is the same BS that got us to a nation over $16 trillion in debt and unable to make up a budget in 3 years. No one can do their job in DC.
I'm not even going to point a finger at one party over another, because they both stink. It's tiring to hear about Bush did this, Obama did that- they both stink. The end result is that our money will soon be worthless, everyone in this country will have to make major sacrefices (we all owe about $70,000 to the debt already), and our combined children (non-partisan comment) won't have as good a future because our politicians decided their todays were worth more than our tomorrows.
I'm sure denying that the GOP is waging a war on women will work out very well for them. I'm sure everyone will just forget all about their policies that oppose equal pay and reproductive freedom. Let me know how that goes.
@JoAnnaSMith
Obama has plenty of accomplishments.... saving the audo-industry... starting one war ending two.... turning the top 10 killers of Americans into the obituary page...
Reagan didn't turn around @!$%#... he had great foreign policy and horrible domestic policy... and is responsible for one of the largest presidential deficits in history right next to GW jr.
And no were not grading Obama's performance for for the last 4 years to see if he deserves another 4.... we are contrasting two candidates to see which one has better ideas... and so far... Romney doesn't have @!$%# to offer but more supply side (trickle down) economics by the tax plan he presented.... just because Obama didn't do a perfect job doesn't make rational people want to hand the keys back to the party that got us into this mess.
You sure ready to blame the party for making not things better... what about the party that made the mess?
People that have been paying attention for more than 4 years know republicans presidents are the number one cause of debt.
Why are democrats always so hateful?
The Republican answer to everything, message control.
Don't actually help women or minorities, just trick them into think you will.
God forbid you actually believe in equal pay, or letting women have control over their bodies, that's crazy speak in republicans circles. "But since those blasted liberals let them vote, we have to pay lip service."
I do agree the Republicans need to drop this anti-abortion push. This isn't why I voted for them in 2010 - I voted to get someone in office that was concerned about the deficit.
While I understand the anti-abortion crowd thinks having an abortion is equivalent to killing a child that is already born (because they don't differentiate between the 2 cases), they need to realize they are in the small minority and they will lose the election if they continue this push.
Ol' Etch-A-Sketch can spin this but all he is going to get is dizzy! The GOP has lost the votes of women in the coming election and they are just digging the hole deeper with every lame effort they make to hide their misogynistic agenda. Oh well, President Obama certainly appreciates the women's votes the Republican Party has discarded...along with the votes of seniors, minorities, union workers, and moderates. The GOP's crash-and-burn tactics are not winning them any fans, that's for sure.

We're not. We believe in truth and justice for all, and we're free spirts. We follow the bible and love our neighbors.
The trouble comes in when Republicans want it "their way or the highway", and we Democrats refuse to give up our Constitutional Rights to Republicans who have, and will again, rob us of both our freedoms and our money.
Such a notion that Democrats are free spirits and will NOT be followers to Republicans who are up to no good, just freaks Republicans out, pisses them off, and makes Republicans tell even more lies.
Obama / Biden 2012
1.5 great post.
Facts are a tough thing. Obama's record of failure is clear. He took a bad situation and made it far worse than it had to be. Nice guy? I wish I could at least give him that but he's just a smug, arrogant, divisive and petty man.
It becomes more apparent every day. The rump-swaps here will never leave his flock but a ton of independent voters have already hit the exit with so many more to follow. The phony war on women is a nonstarter. The buffet rule is a gimmick that only solidifies the fact that the man just lacks worthwhile ideas, vision and the true reforms needed to get our economy healthy again.
ROMNEY/RUBIO 2012
Only a fool would vote for Obama after witnessing what he has done to the country!
What was said was insensitive and dumb to say, but it didn't come from the campaign or the Democrats in any way, so trying to make this stick to them is a real stretch. It'll work on people who already have their minds made up to vote for anybody but Obama, but not the rest of the voters.
What is really pathetic is that the GOP thinks that this is such a huge story, which implies that they know they're in trouble with women voters and are grasping at any straws they can. They'll need a dozen more of these gaffs to make even the smallest dent in the widely held perception that the only war on women is being waged by the GOP against women in every way (equal pay, personal choice, health issues, etc...).
Rather than try to spin where the chance of winning enough votes is pretty low, they should just keep changing the subject to other issues where their positions don't affect women negatively (if they can find any).
How are things worse when every piece of economic data from professional economist say otherwise.... especially since we have a unemployment rate close to what we had before @!$%# hit the fan in 2008?
I would like someone to explain this to me...
People don't realize we were in a downward piss spiral that very well could of ended up in a another great depression if it wasn't for Obama saving the auto industry millions of jobs and stimulus to rebuild infrastructure to keep construction workers working.... People that say things are worse have no clue how bad it could of gotten if we left it up to the party of no and did nothing.
TO: Ron-1861300 who wrote:
Republicans have NEVER been concerned about the deficit. Just the opposite. Republicans have ALWAYS believed that "deficits don't matter", and each and every Republican that's been in office in my lifetime has run the deficit spending up through the roof, and maxed out the United States' Credit Card with overseas nations.
The only President who has ever paid down the deficit was Democrat President Bill Clinton.
You're on the wrong side friend. Republicans never have, never will, and never plan to do anything about the deficit, which is why the only thing in Republicans' forecast is more tax cuts for the rich.
You can NOT paid down with deficit with more and more tax cuts for the rich!
Obama / Biden 2012
Sean, you avoid the question by complimenting yourself.
The point I am making is that a significant portion of the comments from Democrats are hate-speak about Republicans. For a group that collectively stands for unity, acceptance, and open-mindedness, you sure aren't very open minded about the ideas of another person, on the basis only of their party affiliation. Not all Republicans are anti-abortion and/or anti-birth control. Saying all republicans are waging a war on women is false, plain and simple.
I do not have a party affiliation - I have my beliefs and opinions that differ from many on both sides of the aisle. But your statement that "we" (presumably meaning Democrats in particular) are willing to make sacrifices to your bottom line to help others is outrageous. In 2010, Joe Biden gave only $5,350 to charity, out of an AGI of $379,000. In 2011, I gave over $8,000 to charity on less than one fourth his income. Mitt Romney, out of his $21M income in 2010, gave nearly $3M to charity. About half was to the Mormon church, but whatever. The remainder, who knows. However, the point stands. You can't stand up and say that Democrats are willing to sacrifice and generalize that the rest are not.
Hey libs, today's issue isn't about any GOP war on women, so quit trying to deflect attention from the actual issue... which is that a very stupid Dem stuck her foot so firmly in her mouth that everybody on the left, up to and including the folks who live in the white house are in the full, all-out damage control mode. And Romney, as the article here suggests, doesn't have to "spin" a goddamn thing; we all heard what CNN's resident Dem said about stay at home women. So drop the smoke screen bs, and deal with the big hoof currently wedged in the big Demo mouth!
What a bunch of liberal losers. Speaking for all women, what a laugh. Its all about choice from the hand out gimme gimme gimme crowd. Which translates easily into free birth control pills, free contraceptives, and free abortions. What no free bra's, or do you just let them hang free? Left wing liberal lunatics think people care was they think or want for FREE? Why don't you just pull your silver spoon out of society for a change.
AmericanGirl,
I think the Republicans in the 90's cared about the deficits, but I agree the crowd that's been there since 2000 doesn't seem to care. However, I do think some of the 2010 crowd cares. I don't agree with all of their proposed solutions, but I am glad someone is making real suggestions in DC.
Given the fact that President Obama continues to lead in the polls, I think it's safe to say the GOP does not speak for women...or minorities, seniors, union workers, or moderates. The Republican Party has reduced its range of supporters to the right wing lunatic fringe and a handful of neo-nazi militia groups. That won't win them any national elections, Ricky.
In the long run, Obama is going to say that Romney is going to take stuff away from you, while Obama is going to give you stuff for free. Where do you think Obama is getting this free stuff? From hardworking middle class citizens. If Obama is elected for another term, we will be $25 trillion in debt. Bill O'rielly was right, this election is going to be VERY CLOSE.
Mitt Romney 2012!
@random Pennsylvanian.
wow I've never seen someone make a point that devoid of accurate information while making campaign promises for other people...
please return to your idiot box and continue watch Fox adults are talking.
If Romney supports women,
TELL HIM TO SELL HIS CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS STOCK
or
FIRE RUSH LIMBAUGH
Don't let him get away with talking out of both sides of his mouth!!!
How ironically funny that the Dems create a phony event to show how the evil Republicans really hate women and now We find out the Obama White House pays their women less than the men for the same work, won't let them participate in meetings nor even play golf with the boys! and as far as Ann Romney "not ever working", I would much rather see Ann in the White House ,"not working",and taking care of her children, than Michelle and her gal pals,"working" on one of her many globe trotting vacations/shopping sprees, taken at the taxpayers expense.

Lets keep it straight jonann. Deficit spending is OWNED by the republicans. And they/you don't care to do anything about it either.
"please return to your idiot box and continue watch Fox adults are talking."
Are you kidding me? Maybe if you can learn to talk and act like a civilized adult, maybe I'll make a discussion with you. You Liberals are nothing, but bullies.
Rick: good luck waging that war on women on issues that don't exist..."free" abortion?? when federal law prohibits ANY tax dollars going for abortion? "free" contraceptives? When women can't get coverage for contraceptives according to Republicans for the insurance coverage THEY ALREADY PAY FOR? THis is why your side is going to again lose the presidential election and lose it so badly. You are tone deaf to reality. Here's a hint: when you lose this time in November...you might actually consider why supporting wars this country wants, waging war against women's choices, and pretending the poor do not exist are no longer winning formulas for you. Then actually try to come up with a candidate who at least ACTS like he belongs on planet earth.
"Democratic assertions" -- ? “They're [Dems are] working desperately to change the subject" -- ?
So when there is clear evidence of a record number of legislation since 2010 alone in comparison to other times in US history, in which Teapublican's obsession with anti-choice and women'srights is documented, how is this an "assertion?"
How about reporting accurately with data and charts?! The list of legislation regarding abortion alone is lengthy, then add to that legislation about contraception, equal pay, women's health care and it's crazy! Just in Wisconsin alone, with Scott Walker attacking teachers (female-dominated field) but not cops (male-dominated feild) up to his most recent shenanigans of repealing equal pay for women -- WTF is this?
Who is instigating all this legislation, and why? It is the Teapublicans who have been doing this all on their own. No one on the Democratic side of the aisle is holding a gun to their heads to do it. Even the GOP/TP presidential candidates like Santorum who choose to say what is in fact the real agenda for religious radicals like himself. The Dems are not ventriloquists who make it just seem like he said those things.
Romney was on Huckabee's show and said he supports "personhood" legislation. Where was the Democrat on that program asking him this and making him answer the way he did? Look at other articles just today, about anti-abortion groups supporting Romney. Gees, I wonder why, was it because the Dems threatened them to do it?
Come on! stop insulting the intelligence of Americans and in particular women voters in the US -- they can see how the religious-Right has hijacked even the Tea Party -- and this IS when and why fiscal issues took a back seat to social wedge issues so quickly. The Moral Minority has taken over the GOP!
The president is out there everyday talking about the economy, that's who cares about the economy. The president (who has two daughters) is out there everyday talking about issues women face from health care to educating their children to Social Security being there for them in old age -- President Obama is the one who cares about women's rights.
You voted that way because you are a republican no other reason. to give the keys back to the nuts that got us into this mess to do the same old thing of trickle down economics and watch everything go to s##t again is not putting country first. Same thing different results, not going to happen. We are digging out of that hole. I for one do not want to sink further down in it.
Obama/Biden 2012!
@Random Pennsylvanian
Sorry but when you start making campaign promises for other people.... pretty much tells people you have nothing constructive or rational to debate.
Hey ladies, time to get together and get rid of the Republican party. Only with a one party system (the Democrats being that one party) will you get what you want. When you gonna start?
Republicans F--ked this country up so bad the last election with their greedy misinterpretation of the dollar that Obama now,can only claim insanity..He does a very good job at it because for the first time the middle class suffers for having a Democrat in the white house.Wait it out workingman, dont let the Republiturds back in..
When you look deeper the Republican War on Women is tied into the War on Recovery by the same. Their goal is to keep profits high while diminishing the earning power of the American worker. They continue the legislative onslaught against women to control freedom itself over their lives.
Well Fiesty girl I think I resemble that remark. In more ways than one!
Oh no wait, you said Think!! Never mind!!
Now if I could just remember where I put my rubber check book.
Theory - Give more money (tax cuts) to wealthy people and they will create jobs.
Better idea - Create jobs THEN you get a tax cut. Trickle down economics would work great IF it was done this way. Reward after the fact, not before.
Republicans have it bassackwards. We tried it their way. Look where it got us.
As far as people thinking everything should be fixed in three years, you're living in fantasyland. Lots of people lambast Obama because the economy sucks. He's working on it, and if the Senate would stop filibustering everything progress would go faster. Has Obama been great? No. Has he been a failure? No.
Now for Economics 101. To reduce a deficit you MUST cut spending AND raise revenue. Do we need to spend as much on our military as the next 26 countries combined? No. Can we cut the military budget significantly and still be safe? Yes, but not too much at a time. That would hurt the economy. It'll take 10 to 20 years to get military spending to a sensible level without causing serious economic consequences.
Social Security needs work. It was designed in an era where the lifespan was in the low 60s. It'll take a long time to fix it properly without taking away from people who are already getting benefits or soon to retire having planned under the old system. Yes, it will probably get worse before it gets better, but if done right it WILL get better. It'll just take 20+ years to do it.
We need long term planning, not the quick fixes most people expect when they vote someone out of office. This goes for all economic plans, not just Social Security.
Here's another good idea. Stop worrying so much about abortion and start preventing the unwanted pregnancies in the first place. No pregnancy, no need for an abortion. It makes no sense to go after Planned Parenthood if you are against abortion. You are just assuring more of what you don't want.
Oh, and one more thing. Just copy the healthcare plan of the country with the best healthcare system. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
Mittens, Etch a Sketch, Rob-us-blind, Flip Flop Romnut,
The 1%'er actually 0.006%’er a Corporate RAIDER and one time governor of Liberal Mass but where he supported Abortion BUT WAIT! while running in the primaries
Mr. Flop took a hard slide to the right pandering and boot licking to the tea party. Where he reversed himself and was against Abortion NOW WHAT Mittens? Are you going to support abortion rights again?
Etch a Sketch boy has supported Abortion, Gay Rights, Gun Control, Stem Cell Research and has reverse himself on all of these issues.
Mitt Flip-Flop Rob-us-blind, a wishy-washy, flip flopping spineless politician without any core convictions, principals or believes a man who will say or do anything to get elected telling one crowd one thing and another crowd another.
You simply can’t trust this guy to tell you the truth.
Hey Tex! Long time no see!
It's 5:00 in my neck of the woods - want to join me for a
thinkdrink?Sean said: "The only thing that would make you happy is if we liberals followed you all in lock step."
Not true. What would be nice is if you could engage in an argument or conversation without relying on name calling and bullying. In only one post you managed to drop these bombs:
"Your ideas suck, and you have no others."
"I've seen you. And you suck."
"...your ignorance."
"I realize that's difficult for you to comprehend."
You know nothing about my ideas.
I do not suck. I am, in fact, a pretty awesome person. Far more awesome than you, I'm sure.
Ignorant? Maybe in some areas. For instance, I am ignorant as to how one would engineer a hydro-electric dam. I am also ignorant as to how one would prepare souffle.
I'm glad you can come to a conversation as an adult. Oh wait.
Sounds like I got under your skin. It's great that you are mature enough to not get peeved by some random dude on the internet.
By the way. Suggesting that I make donations to receive a tax write-off is baloney. Give away money, to save only 25% of that in taxes (if that)? Where does that math make sense?
You guys are just plain wrong. Ann Romney has a lot of experience. Supervising her cook, maid, butler, housecleaning staff, nanny, etc are hard and stressful. And firing someone 'because they enjoy firing people' takes a special type of courage. So - let's give her credit for being able to make the 'hard decisions in life' - like:
- what to have the cook make for dinner.
- which caddy to have the chauffer drive today.
- which summer house to vacation this month.
These decisions are HARD and Ann deserves credit for being able to make them without loosing her hair or stressing out. This clearly qualifies her to be able to advise Willard (Mitt) on the difficulties of a working woman. After all - she can clearly relate to the grocery clerk, all those admin assistants, and the numerous maids, cooks, and other women out there. And remember - she probably had to keep a close eye on Willard's admin assistants - to ensure that he kept his pants on.
Sean,I have been studying politics because of it's influence on history for a lot longer than many of you have lived and i don't mean only U.S. history. Most of us liberals are believers in true Democracy because of the excesses of the Oligarchs on Society throughout the ages. The oligarchs either go into politics or suborn them ,so that they always control the wealth created by their society. It is only in the twentieth century that there has been, under the democratic societies of countries that the majority of the citizens of those countries have been able to vote true Democrats and Liberals into the making of their laws . Those Lawmakers and their supporters are continually being under attack by the Oligarchs and their lackeys. At one time the Republican party in this country were the party of the workers, but they started to move to the right of the political spectrum and now they are the party of the rich . That is why people who work for a living and are educated enough and capable of disciplined thought are surprised that any-one who is not of the super rich would think that an Oligarchic rule or a law favouring them is good for our country.
Democrats are in damage control mode after a member of Obama's presidential campaign told what this administration and Obama think about stay home moms. Now they all are throwing her under the bus, like Obama did with Rev. Write. Is too late, Obama demand to close the income gap between man and woman , but in the white house , woman makes 18% less than man. LOL
Women's rights? "H" no says Scott Walker in Wisconsin.
This past week Republican Governor Scott Walker passed a bill to remove equal pay for equal work legislation. Wisconsin is one of the worst states in the country for equality of pay for women. Men earn significantly more than women in Wisconsin at similar jobs.
Republican Governor Scott Walker is basically a stooge of the Koch brothers inflicting RW ideology upon the state. Wisconsin was also the worst state in the country last year having the highest job loss in the country under Scott Walker.
RECALL WALKER WISCONSIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey interested Observer
You forgot to mention Mrs. Ann Flip Flops two Cadillacs and making the decision as to which one to put on the car elevator and drive that day
So now Mitt does not want you to think that the GOP has a "war on women"... let's recap:
1) Women do not deserve equal pay because "money is more important for men"
2) Women should not serve on the front line because they will "get an infection"
3) If a woman does not want an inanimate object forcibly inserted into her vagina she should just "look away"
4) Women should not have access to contraception in the insurance plans that THEY pay for
5) Women who use contraception are sluts
6) Women should not be allowed to make decisions regarding their own body
7) Health care centers that focus on women's health care should be defunded
8) Women should be forced to carry rape babies because they are a gift from God
9) The best experts to discuss women's health are old religious men
10) Any woman that stands up for her rights is called a "femi-nazi"
Yup, the GOP looooove women.
TO: Ron-1861300 who wrote:
If they cared, they'd quit INCREASING the deficit with more and more tax cuts for the rich.
The bold fact is, it takes revenues to pay down the deficit, and you can't use tax cuts or spending cuts to pay any bill, much less the deficit.
"Saying" that Republicans "care" is relative. If they're all talk and no action, which they are, then they DON'T really "care."
Obama / Biden 2012
Romney isn't going to fool anyone with this nonsense, the War on Women label is directly related to his policies that attack women. Duh!
Unless Romney becomes a Democrat (etch-a-sketch moment) and supports policies that support women he IS attacking women (i.e. Romney/Ryan budget) and everyone can see that. Sorry, you can't spin out of the fact that you are at WAR with women!!!
“The homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only - and that is to support the ultimate career. ”
-C.S. Lewis
This week, the editors at Mint, the financial services Web site, released a breakdown of the value of different homemaker duties. They found that if the job were salaried, it would draw, on average, close to six figures: $96,261.

The sheep are running into the fences again I see. Let me try to lead you to the oats, and the reason this article was written to begin with...
This consultant was Hilary Rosen, a Democratic operative, whom fully stepped into the sheep @!$%# today I tell ya! Takes awhile to dig it out of this article, not to my surprise of course. O'bama's war on women campaign took a big hit today!
If you want a better idea of what happened, navigate away from MSNBC hehe. Its worth it, go look around.
I notice Lincoln, Truman, and Eisenhower don't appear on your hit parade of rich presidents, but I would wager they are near the top in terms of quality.
This is just a ploy by the democrats to draw attention away from the real issues like high gas and food prices and unemployment because they cant run on the real issues , so Obama says watch the shinny object , he must think most women are simple minded like his wife , I just wanna know if Americas white trash will keep Obama in the white house?
Idon't think she can even relate to being a stay at home Mom to the fullest extent, just like i can not relate to her having breast cancer or MS.. She is from the Heinz family, more then likely raised with Nanny's, maids, cooks, lawn people ect. Did she have help in all of her houses while staying home? Because if she did have all of these people helping her she really can not relate to the avg women, especially one that has to do it all in the home and go to work to make the living. I have done both, and it was a luxury when i was able to stay at home, i am not saying that i didn't work my but off, but i also didn't have to do all of the work at home and go out and make a living....to bad that didn't last long, it is so much better for the children to stay home.
She isn't a stay at home mom, She's a millionaire princess. Sure raising five kids is a lot of work but good old Ann has servants to do most of it for her! The only "work" she does is figuring out how to spend all that money.
If you are not upper class or rich and you vote republican you are one of two things. 1. a wanna be upper class or rich person or 2. STUPID! The republican policies treat the average person as the group to be used and expolited.
Absolutely hilarious!
Ann Romney, a stay at home mom, receives more support than Mitt Romney.
Seamus, the Irish setter, receives more support than Mitt Romney.
Where did the Republicans find this guy??
Dude,
You present a mishmash of convoluted arguments and statements that ultimately mean nothing. We liberals are accused of fostering a nanny state and being bleeding hearts. Have you ever heard of a bleeding heart conservative. You also conflate Democrats and Liberals. Most democrats are moderates and identify themselves as such. About 15% of the party sees themselves as conservative many are members being that they think the dems represent their ethnic and socioeconomic group and they have nowhere else to go (ie African Americans). They are often religious and socially conservative but feel that the GOP is overwhelmingly anti-black anti-middle class and poor. Of the 15% who identify as no religion and the 2% identifying as atheist they skew almost 70% democratic not because they are liberal but because republicans have no place for them the same is true for the LGBT communities.
On a personal level I try not to respond in as vile a manner as I am responded to because I have no desire to be identified with the vulgarity rightwing respondents use on a continuing basis. As to charity it depends how you want to read it. On average conservatives skew higher in donations but the bulk is to religious organizations. Removing religion Liberals skew much higher.
Try to bring something to the table other than suppositions and vindictive it proves nothing and serves no purpose. It is hard to give a thoughtful response to a thoughtless post.
jkh
Overlord you beat me to it. If you have multiple nanny's are you really a stay at home mom? The Dem's should stand behind this aids words. Calling Mrs Romney a stay at home mom is an affront to all the moms who do the hard job of raising children and keeping house. You know like, clipping coupons, denying themselves hair dye for school supplies, actually cooking the food instead of reviewing the menu with the chef, baby sitting neighborhood kids to make money for Friday night pizza hut, mowing the lawn so her husband can take an extra Saturday shift, clipping kool-aid points for Christmas presents, baking all those cupcakes for school fundraisers out of the love of her heart instead of having them delivered.......all real stay at home moms know of these things. Mrs Romney how dare you!
Mom I apologize to you for this womens demeaning fantasy.
"everyday that romney and the gop spend on the war against women, etc..." if i had a nickel for everytime i heard an idiot say that i'd be the richest person in america! where's the story on the obama debt? where's the story on his racist trayvon martin and gates comments? if i had a son, i would hope it wouldn't look anything like trayvon OR zimmerman, both are messed up mr. president! the media doesn't show that though. they are too busy with their agenda... i'm looking out for my future, and that doesn't involve having to pay back $25+ trillion if o-dumbass is elected again. if only america thought of someone other than themselves for once then they would realize that the democrat agenda has been to spend spend spend instead of budget budget budget (like the rest of the american citizens)... my aunt's in debt. let's just raise her debt ceiling and let her live her life in more debt... the federal gov't and the current admin = A JOKE!!! the new buffet tax raising taxes on the rich in order to "diminish our debt"? what the hell are you looking at obama? the buffet tax is replacing the AMT, and this will decreases the revenue that the gov't takes in... guess we can't all be intelligent. people making $20k a year want people making $40 a year to pay more in taxes, people making $40k a year want people making $80k to pay more in taxes, etc... stop being stupid! the middle class is what pays the most to the gov't in taxes because it is the biggest not because we pay a substantial more.. people need to grow up. glad my parents raised me correctly... dear media, report what america actually wants to hear (obama's reapeated failings!)
JOANNNA!....I can't get past your post to read others it is so funny. Ground Control to Major Joanna...come in....Ground Control to Major Joanna..... I did not know the United States has a colony on another planet, because if you were on this one, everything you said was not reality. The Dems and President Obama talk non stop about real issues. Have you watched one republican debate? Have you watched Saturday Night live?..............Repubs talk about only giving tax breaks to rich, privatizing Soc security and Medicare and the Post Office, birth control, abortion, gays, voter suppression laws.......Turn your channel from the fake news show to any channel for reality.
JoAnnaSmith1
He is a populist. But he pulls on the "populist thread" because it's real and it draws such a huge difference between he and the Republicans that he will pull it over and over.
The Republican party is so far from "populist" that they've become numb to people in general. They run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to "say the right thing" to influence the votes of people they offend... whether it be women, minorities, gays, immigrants, non-Christians, the elderly, the poor, and the rest of us.
Obama doesn't need to twist or lie... he IS populist and the GOP IS NOT.
And pandas: "Obama's debt" is 90% unchangeable Bush debt that would be here no matter who was in office... but I'll give you a chance on this one:
So we may believe the notion that the Republicans will fix our debt problem, please name one Republican president or even one Republican majority Congress that has lowered the debt in the last 50 years.
Panda,
No one's buying your snake oil any longer, We don't even need to see behind the curtain. Willards big mouth has told all what to expect from his administration.
As a side bar, interesting how the movie Ben tracks Willards campaign. (Ben being the religious right)
Oh yeah stairsailing, colonies on another planet after death is a mormon religious belief. Maybe she became confused.
BoredwithsameO, "snake oil"? what? deny the facts already? oh well, can't show everyone the light. sorry i'm speaking straight from the heart of an american citizen who doesn't want the gov't to interfere with his life, just provide the basics like they were intended... the sad part is romney is the same as obama, only slightly better... unfortunately. i wish an intelligent person would run, but that hasn't happened in awhile... i could go further, but i have a life and everyone already knows the facts, they just choose to not accept them lol. if you want them, look them up and actually think about them for once instead of taking what the biased media says as fact for once. peace out america! think of your future this upcoming election of obama and "ever so slightly-less obama" romney... guess i'll just have to wait for 2016 to make a true decision unfortunately.
I guess if Republicans really want to do battle on whose policies are more beneficial to women while the GOP attacks everything from education to reproductive rights to equal pay for equal work then so be it.
Sounds like a great plan.
"if only america thought of someone other than themselves for once then they would realize that the democrat agenda has been to spend spend spend instead of budget budget budget (like the rest of the american citizens)."
LIE. See Bush presidency.
"people making $20k a year want people making $40 a year to pay more in taxes, people making $40k a year want people making $80k to pay more in taxes, etc"
LIE. See taxing 1%
"glad my parents raised me correctly."
LIE. See your post above.
Just curious is there a readout on what professions the lost women jobs were in. A high percentage of teachers are women so a cut in teacher jobs would result in a higher loss of jobs for women vs men. Also, did they count maternity leaves as a job loss?
I do believe that being the wife of a Presidential nominee is a full time job even if it is unpaid. Staying home to take care of kids and the house are also unpaid jobs. Working with charities are unpaid jobs. All women work some get paid and some do not but it is work all the same.
PAA,
Are you really stating that Ronald Reagan was more intelligent than Barrack Obama, Bill Clinton, G.H. Bush, Really!
He was a b-list actor that buried California as Governor and then did the same to the USA. A guy with Alzheimers that was led around by his valium addicted wife. Yet some how you think he was more intelligent than a Rhodes Scholar, a former editor of the HARVARD Law Review and a former CIA chief! WOW!!!!!
Reagan set the record for US debt. Reagan slashed taxes on the wealthy plunging us into a recession and then raised taxes on the working and middle classes 8 times over the next 6 years to keep us out of a depression. Reagan started the ball rolling on the deregulation that led us to the Largest Economic Crash since the great Depression. He destroyed the anti Monopoly regulations put in place after the Great Depression and surprise surprise we now have the largest wealth disparity our great country has seen since the GUILDED AGE!
You may not like the policies of President Obama but when you attack the mans intellect you show yourself to be a fool.
The same goes with Romney he may be immoral scum with no real ideals other than gaining power at any cost, but he is NOT stupid. That is what makes him so dangerous, intellect without morals is very scary!
Please note the collapsed comments ALL disagree with the liberal spin that Romney is spinning the issue of women's rights. For the most part comments in agreement are just snarky one liners meant to satisfy the idiots who enjoy tearing apart decent people because they happen to disagree... and... casting the whole GOP to the extreme right is about as accurate as casting the Dems to the extreme left. Feisty, you are nothing but a tu.. rd with a skirt. American Girl... should be ashamed to use that label....
As for Anne Romney and her "outrage" over someone dissing her "job" as a House wife! Please!!!!
---The AVERAGE House wife does not have $750Million at their disposal to play with!!!
---The Average House Wife does not have THREE HOUSES!!!
---The AVERAGE House Wife does not have Nannies!!!
---The Average House Wife does not have four MAIDS!!!
---The Average House Wife does not get to send their boys(or girls) to the best boarding schools
Money can BUY!!!
Please Lets not act all upset that some one called Bull Pucky when you started trying to talk about average American financial problems. Ann Romney has no background in or business talking about world finances on the Presidential stage! Nor does she have any clue what kind of Financial difficulties the AVERAGE AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE has to deal with on a daily basis!
Her Husband was one of the immoral scum that spent his business life destroying American Jobs, and now she wants to portray herself as one of US, I for one call BS!!!!!
spg64-1292127, did i say reagan in my post? oh wait i didn't. get off your high horse dude and don't you ever put words in my mouth again! romney and obama are basically the same... it's time you realized that. very minute differences.
oh and boredwithlamo,
""people making $20k a year want people making $40 a year to pay more in taxes, people making $40k a year want people making $80k to pay more in taxes, etc"
LIE. See taxing 1%""
this has been happening since the beginning of money and taxes. everyone thinks that everyone that makes more than them should pay more... how have you not realized that? haha. it's sad. really sad that you haven't noticed that happening since the beginning of taxes lol... oh and by the way, my parents did raise me correctly. i support myself and i make a name for myself. that's the way life is and always SHOULD be!
and sorry for mentioning the democrats in that post, the truth is that's the way it's been for over 6 years, so naturally i mention their idiot-ness. the new age republican have been a blight on the true REPUBLICANS for a while now these days.
i'm open to change but the "change" that obama promises has not been for the best. and romney has many of the same policies even if he doesn't admit it.
ta Mitts' son Josh was on CNN defending his mother, which is a good thing. But he had that "far away Mormon look in his eyes", same voice as Willard except more mona-tone. He looked more like a serial killer and never blinked an eye. Looked right through that camera lens ............................
ji
You are a religious bigot, Democrats no Republicans are going to make a big issue about Mitt's faith. But when voters question Obama's faith , all Democrats defend Obama's Christian faith. According to the Constitution doesn't matter the religion of the candidate.
What type of far away look does a Mormon have. Is it any different than a far away look of a Jew, Christian, Atheist, Undeclared, Buddhist, Muslim, Agnostic, Christian Science, Jehovah's Witness, Jews for Jesus, etc, etc.... or is it just a far away look? Does a far away look make someone a serial killer? Let get back on topic of politics. I think we have all had enough of the Presidential candidates running on whose religion is the religion of the golden child. All religions should be respected but none should reign as supreme.
American Girl-724855
Neither side cares about women, the deficit, kids being shot, inner cities, drugs, wars, taxes, spending, or anything else. ALL politicians care about is the money and power...both sides

You are even worst than Hillary Rosen, she already apologize for her offensive comments. All Democrats , including Michelle Obama are throwing her under the bus. My mom was a stay home mom , and she struggle when our family finances where bad , she knew how hard my father had to work, this is not about what average moms that stay at home have or not, she raise good kids, none of them are drug addicts or criminals, this is not an easy job, regardless if you have money or not.
What a joke of an article, even the Democrat who made the ignorant comments admitted it was fake political B.S. meant to further divide America.
Why the left fears Ann Romney
"After calls for her to apologize from both the left and the right, Rosen initially refused. But she caved to the building pressure today. In her apology she said, "Let's declare peace in this phony war and go back to focus on the substance."
"Meanwhile, Democrats preen on about the phony "war on women" and are increasingly desperate to lure attention away from their disastrous policies. The women we know are smarter than this and realize this is merely a smokescreen meant to distract women voters from the true legacy of the Obama administration: failed economic policies that adversely affect women."

@pjam09 -- When did Ann Romney become the Republican candidate for President? It looks like the Republicans would have a better chance at reclaiming the White House with Ann Romney in the race. People are defending Ann Romney - but - no one is defending the Republican candidate for President.
Has Mitt Romney ever accomplished anything - or - does he just associate with people that have?
To Panda who writes"speaking straight from the heart of an american citizen who doesn't want the gov't to interfere with his life"
That is the sad part about you Panda, you then vote republican, and they want to take away and privatize your soc sec, medicare, post office, Give more tax breaks to the rich that puts more burden on you as a taxpayer, tells you sex is for marriage only, outlaw birth control, take away voter rights for elderly/poor/students and people on fixed income, etc, etc. Reagans top economic advisor says you people are like behaving in a religious cult that drinks the cool aid and do everything that is really against your self interest. Voting repubconn is opposite of what you say you want!
Hey Panda, I forgot one, now the republican Supreme Court says the police can arrest you for whatever innocent or not, they can strip search you and your women, shoving there hands up into whatever orifice that makes them feel safe you are not bringing in weapons or contraband. Better get that parking ticket fixed. How's that working for ya? Or is that not interfering with your life?
It's funny reading all the lib posts. They don't seem to be smart enough to figure out that the lib's idea of being for someone is to tell them that they are too stupid to care of themselves so trust the lib politicians to take care of them for them. Heck, they've suckered the blacks for eons. Do they actually do anything for the blacks? Of course not. All the money thrown at blacks and those in poverty, has it done anything to get anyone out of poverty? Of course not. But, what it has done is to make sure that blacks are poorer and more dependent than ever before on government. More black children born out of wedlock than ever before. More black children born in poverty than ever before. So, if you like doing nothing and being poor, then yup, vote for the dems because that is what they accomplish. but, if you want to rise out of poverty and be able to take care of yourself then you might just look at copying those who have risen out of poverty and taken care of themselves. The good news is that a lot of women are buying the snake oil being sold by the dems. That bad news is that too many women are buying the snake oil and way too many blacks are still buying it.
Why is it snake oil? Well, the obvious example is Michael Moore, Ted Kennedy and others who lead the Democratic party. They are smart enough to know that our system has to be capitalist in nature and the it is the free market that allowed them to earn the wealth they have. It is arguing against this in a free market system that allows them to make more money. They know that if they actually accomplished what they were preaching for then they would be poor. Since they believe that they won't be successful in that endeavor (and they don't really want to be either), they know they can continue to make money off the lies they preach. Don't believe me? Just go to a rally of any liberal politician and ask them if they believe that money should be redistributed from those who make money to those "less fortunate" who don't make as much. They will give a resounding "YES!" Then ask ask them to redistribute their wealth equally among all who are present. Do you really expect them to pull out their checkbooks and write everyone a check?
The good news is that women don't appear to be as dumb as a lot of blacks are.
Why is Mitt Romney Making Pledges to a Washington Lobbyist?
Excerpts:
Mitt Romney has promised a Washington lobbyist (Grover Norquist) that he will NEVER, EVER:
And of course we know that for every dollar in giveaways to the wealthiest 1 Percent and special interests that Mitt Romney pledges to protect, that’s one more dollar he’ll cut from Social Security, Medicare, and programs that benefit middle class families.
In fact, that’s exactly what Romney’s already said he’ll do: slash programs for the middle class in order to give trillions more in tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.
http://thinkprogress.org/progress-report/
Simple economics. Obama had 4 years and spent more of the tax payer dollars in that time than any other Prez. in history - result? Worse credit rating in US history and Epic Fail.
Try do distract with this and that all ya want, but he has failed economically and the country is WORSE shape than 4 years ago.....
Cheers
rradiko: Nice try but too bad the cite you linked to and you lie. Your list shows that you have no understanding of economics or the way things work. Corporations don't pay taxes people do. Oil companies don't pay taxes the buyers of oil do. Want to "cut the loopholes?" That only means you want to pay more for oil. I'm sorry you haven't figured out the basics about corporate taxes. If they don't make money they don't pay taxes. That's not unlike you as an individual, at least until Obamacare. If you don't make money you don't pay taxes. However, with Obamacare you can now sit in your living room do absolutely nothing and be forced to pay taxes. That aside, the fact is that there is no such thing as tax "loopholes." We live in the USA where you own what you have. But, if you do in fact think that the government owns you, and thus everything you make, then I suppose you would would at anything that allows you to keep what you have as a loophole. Are you really naive or dumb enough to think that if you raise taxes on corporations (which is what closing whatever you consider loopholes to be) that it's not going to result in an increase in the price of whatever they are producing that you buy? If you really believe that you should be paying $5.00 or $6.00 or whatever money you think you should be paying for a gallon of gas then please stop being a hypocrite and write the government a check for the difference between what you think you ought to be paying and what you are actually paying.
Those of you that want to re elect our Dictator wanabe Obama Deserve him.. Remember he who laughs last laughs best.. Fools and their President... Czar Obama. Hate Congress, Unions behind and now Challenges the Supreme Court.. Thats a Dictator Fools. You are all welfare babies, Grow up and get a real job.One were the Government is not wiping your asses.
'You Liberals are nothing, but bullies.'
It happens every single time -- a conservative attempts to describe a liberal and ends up describing himself.
excaliburgc - You might try to explain why Mitt Romney is a better candidate than President Obama. Calling President Obama a Dictator and a Czar when he does not even have power to get a budget passed is just inflammatory. It does not help Mitt Romney win independents.
As far as the Supreme Court goes President Obama or any other President does not have to power to affect the Supreme Court justices jobs since the Supreme Court is tenured.
'You Liberals are nothing, but bullies.'
Hey Charlie, what do you call the destruction of Cain, Palin, Bachman, and the most recent unprovolked attack on Romney's wife? Compassion? You think Libs are actually interested in woman's rights, or minorities rights? Conservative minorities or women actually attract the most vicious venom of any Liberal attack. Do you deny this?
witchrunner...Ever hear of corporate taxes? U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the WORLD. So if you are saying that because of high corporat tax rates, the people are paying higher prices, I guess you're right...and since we have the highest corporate tax rate in the world.......and Obama wants to make them even higher.....I think you should get the picture.

Depending on the number of servants, she created a number of jobs! Well done Mrs. Romney!
Hey Fiesty, did you get a raise? I have never seen you post on something other than First Read! Do they make you work weekends too? I am concerned!
I don't recall any side of the fence or in the middle for that fact stating our situation has developed in just 3 years. Actually they have stated over and over this has taken a lifetime to get here and it's not just because of Presidents and more to do about Congress. Guess you haven't been listening. But what they have stated is the situation has not gotten better in these three years, it has gotten far worse. We historically don't keep Presidents and Congress Members in office (Dem or Rep) if things do not improve.
You can go on BLS, they have those answers for you, but to summarize, jobs dipped in 2001, one because we were in a slight recession due to the dot.com crash and two the 9/11 attacks caused another slowdown, not surprising. Then in Feb 2002 jobs started to climb. They climbed until Jan 2008 at which time they started to decrease and have decreased since. When Bush took office unemployment was 4.2%, it climbed to 6.2% in 2003 then started to dip again going to 4.4 in 2006, then in 2008 it started to go up again, hitting its highest in 8 years at 7.3 in Dec 2008. Over the 8 years unemployment averaged 5.0%. He had a net gain on jobs over his entire term.
There has always been an issue on how the BLS counts Unemployment and Under Employment. This can go back to the beginning. They have made many changes to acquiring the data and each Presidency has tweaked the reporting. You might hear just a little bit more about it now because maybe you are paying attention to it. But it's been always talked about.
News flash if you are poor in this country you get free health care, its called Medicaid. You just have to get off your butt and apply for it. And yes, the middle class & rich pay for this through increase medical cost, insurance and yes taxes. Nothing is free. Major Medical insurance is cheap and there is no reason why every middle class person can't have a policy. If they can buy cell phones for all their children and pay the monthly fee on those, they can more than afford Major Medical. Singles in their 20's can afford it, stop going out to bars a couple nights a month will pay for it. Hospitals allow you to make a payment plan for any deductable. It's all about ones priorities.
All one can ask themselves when they go to the polls, "Am I better off today then I was 4 years ago?" That will ultimately make your decision as to who you push the button for. Oh a handfull will stay with their designated party even if they are eating dirt, but the majority don't. Election decisions have always been about individuals living conditions at the time they vote. Some things in our history never change.
"Preposterous" Flip flopper !
So What, she raised 5 boys at home!!! Try doing that PLUS having a career in corporate America, now THAT'S WORK!!! Another contrieved controversy by a desperate party!
Witchrunner, you know what's really funny, your post. You must have gotten your information from the klan handbook because everything you wrote is nuts. You have no idea what a liberal is, republicans say they're bad and like the good little die-hard republican voter you are, you believe them. Everything the government does that benefit everybody is a liberal program, public schools, social security, these are just two of the evil things liberals spend tax dollars on.
The poor can't pay too much in taxes, the rich don't have to, that only leaves YOU and everybody else in the middle class to pay for everything republicans want to do, including the tax cut for the rich. Witchrunner, you talk about Black people and democrats, but you are too stupid and full of hate to realize the republicans you praise so much have targeted you and the middle class as expendable.
There is not a lot of money being thrown at blacks, quite the reverse, there are more white people on welfare than there are black people IN America. Why do you think republicans have targeted the middle class? The middle class is the group that the most money from liberal programs is being spent, and they want that money to pay for the tax cut for the rich, so they trick you and people like you to believe whatever lie they come up with, they blame black people and democrats because they know your bias will blind you from the truth. You are being suckered, and the ones that will soon be kicking your butt is the same group that you praise so highly, the republicans.
Rosin's comment was stupid, straight up stupid. However, what's even more stupid, is applying it to either Obama or the DNC. Rosin is a cable TV pundit with no official connection to either the campaign or the Democratic Party.
Keep grasping at those straws Etch-A-Sketch. Being a female, what I suggest you do if you REALLY want to repair your relationship with us ladies is STOP TRYING TO TRAMPLE OUR RIGHTS.
NBC is now saying Romney is spinning this. Funny coming from the liberal Propaganda arm of Liberals out to reelect the worst president since Jimmy Carter.
Obama's "war on women" diatribe is his most asinine stunt yet, as evident by the fact it seems to have blown up right in his face.
It seems that the election has gotten everyone right where they want them.
Dummycrats claim that Repubs have a "war on women", so the Repubs fight back and claim the dummy's have a "war on religion".....but Romney and Obama are both working for the same corporations and the two parties are just putting on a show for us "little people" so that we feel like our vote really means something.
Not if they want to talk about real issues and focus on what and how our country needs fixing.....they should end this charade....and talk to Ron Paul....at least he talks about our economy, our debt, our money, the Fed, our rights, freedoms and civil liberties.
This is why they really dont want Ron Paul....because he cant be bought. And besides Barack and Romney are essentially the same .... the only difference one can sing and one cant! other than that, they would both be bad for this country! Also if the repubs wanted someone who could beat Obama....they should want Ron Paul to win, because (although Fox and CNN wont report it) the latest Rasmussen Report shows Ron Paul beating Obama 44% to 43%......but of course they wont show it. Romney will lose to Obama.....you figure it out!
I have not seen one positive comment for Mitt Romney yet. Is there anyone who can explain why they feel Mitt Romney is a good candidate? I would be happy to listen to President Barack Obama support as well.
aggie: Not sure what your beef is with me. I'm hard pressed to figure out what I said that you disagree with. Sure Obama and the libs want to raise taxes, including corp. taxes. I don't think I said anything that disputes the stupidity of that, unless you are concluding that raising taxes is good.
topane: Not sure what your point is. Is there a lot of money thrown at blacks? Well, to hear it from the black and lib "leaders" there is. Ever since LBJ's "war on poverty" the social programs have been aimed at helping the poor. As I've said, the stated intention of these programs is to help the poor. Listen to black leaders and anything that criticizes these programs is considered racist by them and the media. Why? Because these black leaders believe that these programs are targeted towards blacks. Of course there are more whites than blacks in this country, so it is obvious that these programs probably go to more whites than blacks, but that's not the point. The point is that the government, with it's "liberal" programs to help the poor actually do more damage to the poor than help. The programs actually encourage the breakup of families. Keep in mind that these programs are designed by libs. As the usual example of this encouragement of breaking up the family, if you have a father and husband who is supporting his family the best he can, the government may not provide any assistance if he stays with his wife and kids. But, if he moves out of the house then the wife and kids all of a sudden become eligible for welfare, food, housing assistance, fuel assistance, etc. So, guess what happens? Dad, hubby, moves out so that government assistance is available. After years of this is it any wonder than so many kids are born out of wedlock? Heck, kids, both black and white, look at this as an incentive to have kids out of wedlock. The end result? These women and children are destined for a life of poverty. Why? Because the lesson the kids learn is that it's best not to be married and that someone, the government will take care of them.
Where are your statistics to show us waves of families being broken up for increased public assistance, witchrunner? I don't see any.
There are, however, statistics showing that the poverty rate fell to HALF its previous rate with the advent of the Great Society programs, and stayed there.
It's just another Conservative lie that these programs have done more harm than good.
Meanwhile, Romney files a tax extension... has to roll in it for a few more days before sending two or three of them dollars in as his "tax pittance".
... but, seriously, would you pick the wife of a multimillionaire that has someone that shops, nannies, cooks, and drives for her to represent women's economic issues?
Don't get me wrong. I believe that work-at-home moms are the best, have the most to contribute to a stable society, and ultimately work as hard or harder than those that work for others on much less important projects... but please tell me how a hugely rich mother even comes close to that description. She stays at home because she can. She has help beyond what most can even imagine with her "chores".
Does she see groceries going up? Does she grouse about the cost of gas? The cost of daycare? Is she aware of women's job suppression and issues in the workplace OR at home? Women's wage suppression? No, at least not from current experience. But she knows "other things", you say? WHAT? Name it!!!
And Romney's lame attempt at cashing in on the uproar is to immediately misquote, misinterpret, and to draw incorrect ECONOMIC conclusions about what percentage of job losses were women? "93% of the job loss was by women" has to be the stupidest statement I've ever heard.. defies facts, logic, and reason. Just shows that he's always willing to lie when necessary to make a political point.
I hope Romney's wife IS good with numbers and the economy, because he sure the hell isn't.
witchrunner
It seems that one fundamental you stick to is the notion that support programs actually discourage people from working and that "true incentives" are the dangling carrot of success as with the rich.
Let's play "what if".
What if we were laid off and couldn't find a job for, say, 6 months. Which one of the following scenarios would "encourage" you to try harder?
1) You've already lost your job, the government tells you to "get a job you lazy $%^&" and cuts your unemployment payment. You now lose your house and maybe your family from the stress.
2) You've already lost your job, the government has your back by "keeping you fed and housed" with unemployment insurance and food stamps for this extended time until you find a job.
Which would you react to?
Secondly, which is more encouragement?
1) A society where less than 1% of the people realize the "American dream" while the remaining are in either a flat-lined middle class or trending towards "poor"?
2) A society where the "making it" is much more attainable and where the gap between you and the "American dream" is much smaller and much more attainable?
In successful businesses we learn to set attainable goals, reward good performance, and to provide as many paths to success as we can.
In poorly run businesses people become nothing but numbers and are clearly told that they are on their own... few opportunities... with little support.
People react to opportunity IF it is realistic and attainable. People do not react to oppression and distant, unbelievable goals.
If success has as much of a chance as a lotto ticket, would you be "encouraged"?
The current recovery has made the rich richer but most others are still losing ground. That gap is the disincentive, not our support systems.
LMarcT I have been there. Anybody who thinks living on unemployment insurance is fun is either uneducated or just plain stupid. I am very happy to be employed now. Unemployment insurance made a difference in my life and that of my family. It helped make a rough time in my life, not as rough.
pages and pages of liberals spouting....and what have I learned....
Liberals think that women who stay at home are not working. Women who stay at home are not contributing, and by implication, those who stay at home are less intelligent, less motivated, less industrious. (But liberals want us all to feel that they are for enhancing women's rights????)
We have had equal opportunity as federal law for how long????? And women's pay is still behind men for equal work????? So why should I believe that another law is going to make it better? The world isn't following the laws that are there, and our government (both parties) have allowed it to continue unabated.
Having the right to your own body is wonderful....do what you will, but your freedom should not be at the cost of my checkbook. Whether I agree with birth control or abortion or not, I shouldn't be compelled to pay for yours. If the right is important to you, then you will find a way to insure that you can exercise it, and that my mean forgoing something else, having to budget, plan-BE RESPONSIBLE for your choices and actions.
I have heard it asserted that the War on Poverty has decreased poverty. Please cite specific numeric examples that show that decline, as the percentage of those living below the poverty level is identical and that is even taking into account a huge increase in overall population over those same years. This is a statistical impossibility for percentage of overall population to remain identical regardless of increase or decrease in overall population.
Who was it that said mothers of children over the age of 2 should be forced into the workforce, Sue?
Oh yeah, that was Mitt Romney.
Two weeks ago, Romney campaigned saying that he "Stands with Governor Walker".
Yesterday Governor Walker repealed equal pay for woman.
Romney needs to either say he was lying 2 weeks ago or he's lying now.
Romney claims to be a man of faith who honors the Bible. They Bible teaches us those who lie have sinned.
Romney needs to either stop lying or accept God's punishment. Those who lie for political power are the lowest forms of life on earth.
Wait what?!?
You have a link for this? I really have to see this.
Lol, religious arguments always make laugh. Don't you realize all he has to do is tell his clergy he's sorry for doing the things he's just going to keep on doing and he's square.
Also, there is precedence for paying off sin by making large donations to the church. Which I'm sure is a favorite with Romney. As long as it is all tax deductible of course.
Romney has no business running for the presidency in 2012. Us older Democrats must stand with our younger generations and work 24/7 to get the GOP out of office. If you care about you and your children's future, please, please, please - get to work.
These white priviledged republicans aren't interested in what you are up against as we move forward. Romney is running for the presidency simply because he can. That doesn't mean he believes in anything. He most certainly does not.
We need a new generation in DC. The baby boomer GOP obviously haven't finished raping America which began under Reagan. We need to stop them in November.
It's all as clear as can be. They.don't.care.about.you. They did NOTHING to bring jobs back. Nothing.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/04/dnc-chair-slams-wis-gov-walker-for-equal-pay-repeal/
Okay, that's f*cked up.
Here's a quote for other posters:
They didn't repel equal pay, they made it harder to take the employer to court over unequal pay..
Search for "walker equal pay" - it's all over the Internet. Here's one example:
_businessinsider.com/scott-walker-repeals-wisconsin-equal-pay-act-2012-4
"Thursday, Walker passed over 50 bills but announced them Friday afternoon before the holiday weekend, so they would get less attention. Among the bills was:
a bill banning abortion coverage in policies obtained through a health insurance exchange, which will be created in 2014.
a bill requiring sex-ed teachers to stress abstinence as the only way to prevent STDs and pregnancy. The bill also says teachers don't have to address contraception at all."
No war on women, indeed....
"They didn't repel equal pay, they made it harder to take the employer to court over unequal pay.."
Still another battle in the GOP war on women.
WOW that is truly messed up!!!
Because it's working so well in the Red States: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47003837/
LynB, and the difference is??????
And the Palin household...
Although, she did manage to get the last one to the alter a month before the birth...
I have to agree Pat ... the Republicans made great gains in the mid-term elections on their platform of job creation, and yet have done little to nothing toward that campaign promise since. Why reward the Republican Party for sitting on their hands for 4 years, while condemning everything Obama has ever said and done. And they still have zero ideas about how to stimulate the economy and create jobs that doesn't benefit the wealthy and corporate America. They have become the Party of irrelevance and stupidity.
Seriously, now. How does the Republican Party expect to win a national election when it is actively alienating the very voters it desperately needs to pull off a victory? Mitt is spinning as fast as he can to obscure the patently misogynistic policies of the party he represents. Even he sees he is heading for an electoral disaster in November without the support of women voters, though.
President Obama by default in November! The Republican Party just does not want to play.
that's all we need..more legislation to make it harder to run a business. Who are these women who are whining about being paid unequally? I've never felt any of the alleged "discrimination" for being a woman in the workplace. Just another liberal myth and an excuse for people to file frivolous lawsuits.
If the gender issue was just a myth then Etch-A-Sketch wouldn't be desperately trying to change his image and that of the GOP to suit women voters.
Don't forget the best quote regarding why the equal pay act was repealed... because "money is more important to men".
Ahhhhhh, the GOP... you never fail to deliver such wonderful pearls of wisdom.
Ruken,
Leave my sister/cousin/wife out of this!!!! What is wrong with you!! ; )
Feisty,
Nixon did rather well using Checkers.
JKH
Romney is a corporate dick and makes me puke as a Republican..............
"They didn't repel equal pay, they made it harder to take the employer to court over unequal pay.."
That's so much better.
The women we know are smarter than this and realize this is merely a smokescreen meant to distract women voters from the true legacy of the Obama administration: failed economic policies that adversely affect women."
http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/12/opinion/christoph-terrell-rosen-romney/index.html?hpt=hp_bn7
Hey SAILCAT...The reasons why republiconns are alienating voters they need is because they have all the super pacs buying the right people they need to win. All the republicans vote hand in hand with the 1% rich people to make them richer. Ann Romney, mother of 5, bless this stay at home mom who had to make the decision which cadilac to drive to the salon, from which house. Stay at home moms had to decide macaroni and cheese or macaroni and cheese with weiners. The one time Romney heard macaroni he replied, think I bought that company and shut it down for profit. Or did I send it overseas? Whatever, the money I made is in the Swiss bank account.
How many stay at home moms struggling to feed their kids Kraft macaroni and cheese wouldn't give their eye teeth to be rich like Mrs. Romney....without a care in the world....Did other stay at home moms all have to decide whether to get their wills in order when they were diagnosed with breast cancer? How many are faced with the reality that no amount of money or health care will change the fact that because of their MS, they will one day be confined to a wheelchair and have to depend upon others to get through their daily life. I wonder how many charities and local community organizations Mrs Romney gives her time and effort and money to. She's had children she could afford...her $ star has been a good one. How many of you think that she wouldn't give up every penny of it to be disease free? It was a low and nasty dig by Rosen meant for no other reason than to try and demean Mrs. Romney.
Just more spewing from the liberal hate crowd. They scream about equal pay for women, except those working for Obama in the White House. Where women make 18% less then their male counterpart. So what a totally disingenuous group of liberal women that stand for NOTHING. No doubt Obama gave himself a waiver to allow for lower pay for women, and that probably satisfied the liberal hate mongers.
The Hated 1%
They take away your jobs and security.
They have all the money, and keep it for themselves and not for you.
They are the scourge of this country that is causing all this despair and unemployment.
They control the banks and all the business.
This is what Hitler said about the Jews, who amounted to about 1% of the German population at that time.
See what bigotry and jealousy creates?
As a country we are growing more and divided. By race, by culture, by religion. Until we come together as AMERICANS I fear that division will only grow wider.
I am in Wisconsin and am ashamed to say that I have ever voted for a Republican here. I did not vote for Walker (nor for D- Barrett either), but I am so angry at that guy that I will vote straight Democrat in 2012 on principle. He is systematically stripping the rights of women and hurting our youth on his own twisted agenda based on HIS narrow view of the world through his religion.
If you want to get your blood boiling at the Republicans, take a read fo what state senator Glen Grothman (R) has to say about equal pay for women. It's not as important as it is for men, ladies! http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2012/04/09/460917/wisconsin-state-senator-money-less-important-wome/
Wisconsin took a chance on this Tea party nonsense in 2010 and is paying a huge price. Don't be fooled by these guys, they tell you scary stories about how bad it things will get under Democrats or Socialism or whatever fear mongering tool they can make, and once you get them in, they're the ones who hurt you. It's sick really. If the majority of Republican party was smart, they'd condemn these guys as fools and distance themselves as quickly as possible.
Witchrunner, I was just giving a quick rundown on how wrong you are about liberals and everything else. You said, liberal programs do more damage to the poor than good. That is a republican flat out lie!! Liberal programs has never been intended solely for the poor, all liberal programs are for use to anybody that need or want them. The rich, the poor, you, How many liberal programs have you used in your lifetime? These are just some of the liberal programs republicans say is bad and they want to end, just pick out the ones you need or will need and see if you agree with republicans that they should be cut.
Social security, Medicare,Medicade,SSI, Disability, Unemployment Insurance,Public Schools, These are just a few of the liberal government programs that republican want to cut or shut-down completely. Rich people don't need any of these liberal programs, Witchrunner, remember one very important fact, when republicans talk about the poor, if you are not a member of the 1% they are talking about YOU, to the rich republicans, you're poor. You can state as many facts as you want, but it does not change the fact that republicans have conned you into talking about yourself. You may not think of yourself as poor and needy, but believe me, to Romney and the rest of the rich republicans you are.
And in fact we don't need fewer "hand up" programs that allow those on the margins to better themselves, we need MORE.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/26/opinion/the-rich-get-even-richer.html?_r=3&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1333040404-Kdp194tq+mP8mAgdSd2aLQ
There is only way for Romney to get women to vote for him at this point. He is going to have to denounce some of the comments and actions of the Republican party that made it extremely clear that they are waging a war on women. But, Romney has not backbone and there is no way he'll rock the boat like that. So he's going to lose the women's vote.
If Romney supports women,
Don't let him get away with talking out of both sides of his mouth!!!
Yep, there it is. I Googled it and Scott Walked did indeed repeal abortion rights and equal pay on April 9th.
Hey RUSHISAPIG!
Go away you trolling planted peanut. Every post on msnbc there you are pasting (literally) the same crap. You're so damaged by Rush's statement that you must have really really thin skin (like most Americans now-a-days). I've seen this ridiculous post over and over and over. Tell your president that if he really cared about women he should give back the million to maher. Tell him to call Sarah and make sure she's ok, tell him to go after that piece of garbage black pansy party for placing a bounty on someones head in the 21st century. Tell him to comment on the 31 shootings in his own town of Chicago, tell debbie shultz to appologize for all the hate speech she has spewed. No on second thought don't tell him to do that because I choose to not stoop to the completely pussified attitude that the entire country has adopted.
Rush ain't going nowhere babycakes. Stop acting like a fool and posting the same thing on every thread...it's boring, it's not going to happen and no one gives a ratz-azz. Rush has a bigger listening audience than anyone in broadcasting and for you to cry and whine "fire him, he said something mean" is so pathetic and frail that it's actually a bit funny. Do you think you're going to start a movement...well you go girl, or man, or whatever the hell you want to be. You go get 'em tiger...show that mean ol' Rush that you're going to get him fired by placing those words all over MSNBC.
Seriously, go beat up George Bush mannequins with debbie shultz or something and get over it...he's obviously in your head something awful...in fact; maybe that's the problem. Maybe you're like a little school girl that has such a big crush on someone that you act like you hate them because you don't know how to react to the strange sensations you get when thinking about him. Yeah, I think I'm on to something. You're solution is genius as well; "Sell his clear channel stock" huh? So when did he buy it and how much was it worth? Maybe if he sold it he would pocket several million in gains, that would surely show him. One more little tid bit for ya; if Fluke needed 3k worth of birth control in two years time....guess what she is? I'll give you a hint...it rhymes with s-l-u-t.
When people bitch and moan about someone saying something mean ON BOTH SIDES it simply reinforces the stereotype of that target and further shows the pathetic weakness that this country is embracing. Poor little liberals getting their feelings hurt...poor little republicans crying that the libs get away with hurting feelings more than they do. What ever happened to a strong human being? You guys are frail little mice.
The new American mantra; "sticks and stones may break my bones but please don't call me a name or it will break my little heart and then I'll have to start a protest against you". In the words of Yoda; "F-ING PATHETIC WE HAVE BECOME!"
Find a fresh protest please.
Hey RightWingWacker.
I will be reminding everyone of Romney's hypocrisy right up until November when he's defeated. Maybe some good will come out of it and your boyfriend Rush will be the collateral damage:
If Romney supports women,
Don't let him get away with talking out of both sides of his mouth!!!
You're funny. I love how you guys take a derogatory name that I already self appointed and then try to make it derogatory...typical. Like I stated, you go get 'em tiger. The outcome of this election will have nothing to do with the stock anyone holds.
Rush is and will remain unscathed by this and will have no negative bearing on Romney except for the fact that Rush will only be for Romney because he's the barack opponent.
Do this for yourself; defend baracks hypocrisy. Just defend a couple of things even though there are hundreds. But first you have to read either one of his books, then we can have a discussion about hypocrisy. This is a battle to determine the best of two evils (as usual). barack is by far the worst of these two evils and if you can cite for me anything he's done in his past that actually created jobs or got something built or didn't involve us vs. them attitudes and class division please do so. If you can defend any of his multitudes of blatant lies from his mother and father right down to the way he would conduct politics as president please do so. If you can defend any of his elitist ruling class hypocrisy please do so. I'm anxious to see what you attempt to come up with.
You're technique isn't a reminder of anything, it's an old method of attempting to rally against a billion dollar network because someone on that network said something you didn't like. Boo frickin hoo. You obviously got your panties in a bunch because you're extremely thinned skin and you're trying to make this about Rush. The bottom line is that I don't care what anyone says about anyone BUT if you care that much for women being hurt by words (that were actually pretty funny) then why aren't you up in arms about people like Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Debbie schultz and David Letterman and how they're tied to your president? If you support women than start bitching about all of the people on your side that make stupid comments about women, but you don't really support women so guess what??? You're a hypocrite! If you are truly offended than you would be offended on all sides. But you're not! You just hate Rush, you're massively to the left and you want to use this as a political opportunity, just like all the crybabies on both sides. Hell, it's the name you chose to identify yourself so you're either a paid intern of soros or maybe you are just obsessed with a radio commentator. (By the way, "commentator" means they give opinion, they aren't reporters)
Soooo, as soon as you can defend anything from your presidents hypocrisy or the hate speech given from any of your clubs members please, pretty please with sugar on it...do so. I'm assuming however, that I will just continue to see this same paste job all over msnbc.com (like you've got a lot of convincing to do on this network). I'll bet you have it in a word doc just ready to go so you can cut and paste in an instant.
Anyway, enjoy your "reminding" and convincing. You should set up a polling station and ask people who vote for barack to give a reason and then tally all the people that say "because Mitt Romney didn't sell his clear channel stock and Rush didn't get fired". Let me know the final count when you do.
THIS JUST IN!
ATTENTION LIBERALS! You're leader's tax rate for last year is right around 20% because he worked the system. You want to talk about hypocrisy? Ladies and gentlemen I give you...barack hussein obama...mmm, mmm, mmm.
Hey wacker, what did Romney pay in taxes? Oh yeah, he isn't telling us.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll released this week found Romney trailing Obama by 19 percent among registered women voters. (By contrast, Romney leads by eight percent among registered male voters.)
Very quick math shows this to be a very good position for President Obama.
Michael Dukakis was up 27 points at this time during his run against Bush I.
How'd that work out for ya?
You're sounding more shrill and desperate with every blithering post, Rob.
Rob in ma-3189632
"Michael Dukakis was up 27 points at this time during his run against Bush I.
How'd that work out for ya?"
Michael Dukakis is not Barack Obama.
But, if that help you get through your day, have at it.
Obama is a sitting president... there's a big difference between a sitting president (that has done a great job in his first term despite what the Republican smear machine says) and a relatively unknown presidential candidate. If the analogy makes you feel better go ahead, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it if I were you!
The democrats continue to try to divide and conquer this country. In addition to their usual class warfare tactics we now have gender warfare with their war against thinking women.
Warfare? You mean disagreements about how our "progressive" tax system is flawed.
Blah, blah blah. Class warfare has always existed and as Warren Buffet put it, "Up until now the wealthy have been winning". The only difference now is that the poor and middle classes are tired of putting up with it.
Btw, the last time this happened it was called the French Revolution. Try to keep your head about you.
Honus from Texas post #5
Democrats dividing the country ????? You have to be kidding, In all my years on earth I have never seen a political party like the current Republican/Tea Party do so much damage to my country with lie after lie after lie. I was a Republican for over thirty years until the party was taken over by right wing fanatics bent on screwing the vast majority of American citizens. Honus you sound just like one of those people.
Yes Democrats are dividing the country. In all my years on earth I have never seen a political party like the Democrats/liberals do so much damage to my country with lie after lie after lie.
Rocco: you mean the REPUBLICAN division of rich against poor, men against women, white against black...it's not just YOUR country Mr. Republican...get used to it.
Honus From Texas: you are projecting again (accusing Democrats of what Republicans constantly do) by insisting that Democrats are dividing the country when it is manifestly clear from right-wing rhetoric and more importantly, POLICY, that Republicans are the great dividers. It's a silly accusation really... I mean really, half of the Teabag crowd can't even except that Obama is an American! LOL
Rocco, two points. #1 if you think dems are dividing the country....don't fall for it. End of story. And #2 it would easier for the repub's in this message board to make some sense....if Romney (or any of the repub leaders) had a direction, a goal (other than to unseat Obama). Simply going the other way, from the current leader, does not make anything better. It DOES get some conservative and repub voters panties up into a bunch...but after it's all said and done, unfortunately the repub's have no where to go...no direction, no real platform, no leader.
Seriously Rocco, I do listen to Romney and liked a couple of his ideas (i.e. healthcare mandates). Unfortunately, what he says one week, isn't what he supports the next. I do try, but he doesn't even know who he is or what he believes in...and that makes me uncomfortable. So far I have to stay with Obama in November. I'd really hate to change directions and move backward again.
Take a look at Wisconsin... Take a look at who is paying the republicans bills... Just think about it... Romney has said many things that we all need to look at... Like he doesn't care about the poor... As rich as he is, who do you think he is talking about???
The GOP has been taken over by the religious right fundamentalist. The policy's you are seeing are straight from their agenda. I guess in their view its OK to LIE to voters get elected and then disregard what they ran on to concentrate on morality laws. They must LIE because the majority of voters aren't buying their beliefs. I could be wrong but isn't LYING a sin. Or perhaps it's OK to LIE and force folks to bow down to you? Some God huh?

I am in Wisconsin and as a former Republican, I assure you, it is not phoney. You guys can keep lying whether through purposeful deceit or ignorance, but Wisconsinites are AGHAST at what is happening since taking a chance on the Tea party in 2010. Walker signed abstinence only sex ed last week into law. I don't know how people think where you're from, but the pragmatic people of this state overwhelmingly reject that as sex ed. Walker made it nearly impossible to sue for discrimination, it was already capped at $300k so it wasn't like we had million dollar friviolous lawsuits happening here anyway. It was just a push against, who???? Minorities, including women. Shall we go on???
I was a Republican until Bush, when I became an Independent. I even voted for McCain, thinking Obama didn't have enough experience. Since Walker took over and the rest of the party has been pandering to these lunatics, I absolutely will not vote for a Republican unless and until that party grows a brain.
Hey it's MEEEE and the rest of you for that matter:
No it's not the end of the story. baracks mantra is that well off people don't deserve to keep what they make and that it's their fault the poor are poor. When a president and his party preaches this over and over again people start to believe it. I want you and any others that were responding to Rocco to please tell me this:
How does someone being rich hurt someone being poor? This country has gotten so frickin lazy and places blame on every thing else except themselves for their lack of success it's no wonder we're slipping away as the world leader. Seems to me that a whole lot of rich people set up scholarships for underprivileged people at multiple schools and universities. Seems to me that a lot of rich people set up charitable organizations that feed and clothe the poor. Seems to me that if we boosted the taxes on the rich to 80% that we would increase the tax revenue by less than 100 billion. Are you kidding me?
This is the division that your leader spews like it's the savior to the nations problems and then him and your party get the poor hating the rich because they don't deserve what they have. Then the rich hates the poor becuase the government is telling the poor that they deserve more of what the rich have worked for. What the hell about this do you not see as divide? Seriously guys, open range here...bring it!
Has it occurred to anyone that barack is rich and most of the people in the senate are very rich and they don't have to play by any of the rules that they lay out for the rest of us. Why do you suppose that is? Let's see, if I want to really screw the country I'm going to create divide and unrest in the citizens and get them hating each other because some have more than others. Of course I'm going to place myself in a position of the great leader and I won't be affected by anything that I put in force. Then in the end we will have the rich not wanting to create as much wealth because they will only be giving it to the government which WONT distribute it to the poor, then we will have the poor who will be under even more control of the government. Then we will have the ruling class that will live lavishly, hypocritically and laugh at the peasants from their thrones. It will eventually be a two class system; Us (the rulling class) and Them (the rest of us) You don't think it's real??? You're F-ing BLIND.
barack and the modern democrat party philosophy, is, was and will always be about division. END OF STORY!
Remember, it's only "class warfare" when the poor and middleclass strike back. Otherwise it's sound economic policy. ROFLMAO
Did the head of the GOP ever apologize for repeatedly saying; "Feminism Was Established To Allow Unattractive Women Easier Access To The Mainstream"?
Sorry, Republicans don't apologize. They just get caught in underage sex scandals with members of the same sex.
Or hang around airport bathrooms!!
*hears the sound of foot-taps*
Why can't the media call a lie a lie instead they call lies "SPIN". I suppose it doesn't matter because by now people are beginning to realize that Romney is incapable of telling the truth.
Ann Romney wants us to "respect her choice" to be a stay-at-home Mom (okay) but her husband won't respect a woman's choice whether to reproduce or not.
You have to remember that she shares his byzantine views.
Sorry Ann Romney isn't a "stay at home mom." She is a spoiled rich mufti-millionaire with several Cadillacs!. She has nannies, maids, butlers, babysitters, and other servants... NO, she has NOT worked a day in her life and it's ridiculous that we continue to allow the Republicans to get away with this absurd righteous indignation when they are confronted with the truth about their policies and actions. If Ann Romney wanted an abortion she could take her private lear jet to any place in the world to get it... same with contraception. She doesn't care about equal pay because she's a millionaire! She knows NOTHING about the struggles of the average woman.
x
You better hope that isn't 7%+ unemployment by November or your arguments will fall flat.
You are absolutley right JAS1. The president doesn't want to talk about all those things you listed in your rant because he doesn't lie. You have just rolled off a list of myths that you hear about from the flapping lips on Fox.
Instead, the president will and has talked about his achievements, including his record on health care. (Although you blast off about "Obamacare" it actually ends insurance company abuses, keeps premiums low, expands access to care, closes the Medicare prescription drug donut hole. Yes JAS1 Obama cares.
The president also talks about his commitment to women and their families, which includes equal pay for equal work, improving women's health, and protecting women's right to choose.
The president also talks about how he has created nearly 3 million private sector jobs and saved the auto industry from collape.
In addition to that, the president kept his word by bringing the Iraq war to an end and brought home troops. He re-focused on Al Qaeda and now Osama bin Laden is dead.
The president is building an economy that is fair for the middle class. While he has cut taxes for the middle class he is still having to fight republicans to get the wealthiest people pay their fair share of taxes.
Nice Post Ramboet.
Obama/Biden 2012
Thank you Ramboet, a dose of sanity to offset the republican alternative universe.
how fortunate she had a choice- most people dont. They are the 1%- are they going to try denying that for the next 6 months?
Romney - get the illegal immigrants out of our country and you will win this election. We have had enough of the crime and costs of these invaders. This issue could win you the presidency !!
And yet, they expect President Obama to perform miracles. Bring the deficit down drastically, keep the economy growing, only faster, and spread universal world peace. Maybe then President Obama would be canonized by the nazi pope.
Today the house of representatives have approved the oil depletion allowances and other give a ways for the republiCon donor base but have rejected a tax credit for the wind turbines industry. Without these credits the companies will lose about three large oversea's contracts and 34,000 mfg jobs are at peril.
Where are the jobs Mr. Speaker of the House?
I haven't fact-checked this ... but if it's true, the Republican Party NEEDS to go ASAP. Bio fuels and green technologies are the wave of the future, and it's going to take investment, time and innovation to develop them. How typical it is for Republicans to hang onto the status quo, retard progress, and live in the 20th century.
I don't get it that you posters don't get it that drilling for oil isn't the problem. You can drill all you want, but if you don't have the refineries it never gets to market. They keep on drilling (probably what is causing all the earthquakes) and capping the oil wells because there isn't a provision to refine the oil. Get it???
The US lacks credible reserves that would buffer us from the vagaries of the international oil market. We just don't have the oil and more drilling isn't going to make any lasting difference.
World oil reserves, Note the US has between one third and one half the reserves of a country like Venezuela, never mind major oil countries:
http://www.eia.gov/emeu/international/reserves.html
My Gosh folks, really?
ALL oil is sold on the world market.
The market controls the price.
The US could pump all the oil we have and it would not change the price.
You want to nationalize and keep our own? fine I'm with you.
Otherwise quit being stupid!
Frankly there is not and has not been for some time, perhaps since God Reagan, ANY conservatism in the GOP.
A true conservative party would be a breath of fresh air to a tired citizenry.
Yay! Someone gets it!
HAHA....get us back? Not unless you can knock us out and wipe out our memories. Sorry, we aren't Etch A Sketches.
A vote for the Republicans and the Tea Party is a great idea "IF" you are in the top 2% but if you are NOT then you are voting against your own interest. Ladies, believe me, you are more than broodmares and property and to prove it vote Democrat. Elizabeth Warren for President in 2016 because she is ONE American working for ALL Americans.
Any slight mispeak by a Conservative gets a visceral response from the news media and Dems. A peak into the soul of a Dem (claiming a mom doesn't "work") and it's mostly a shrug. Here's an idea--treat both sides the same. Radical I know but as more and more people are recognizing the unfairness they're tuning out the Dems and MSNBC
Yawn.
The statement wasn't about the fact that she spent her adult life as a homemaker, wife/mother. The statement was about the fact that this woman who has never had a job is the one Mitt keeps bringing up as the source of lots of insight into the woman's view of what's economically important. And it is in fact a perfectly valid statement, even if nobody wants to step up and acknowledge it because it's somewhat inflammatory and easy to take out of context.
If you don't want your wife's economic experience (or lack thereof) to be used as a talking point by the other side, don't keep bringing her up as your "female economy" expert.
THANK YOU, Stephen-3584703
And if you don't want Ann pointed out as a spoiled little rich girl, then don't bring her up. Every mom should have 5 maids, multiple nannies, 3 cadillacs, a multi million dollar budget.
This campaign hinges on if Mr. Romney can overcome all the things he has supported that the GOP has raised this year on women's issues. Also if he brings it to the economy and what problems women have in being more jobs lost under Obama then men remember most of those jobs lost can be shown to anybody as government related jobs and union related jobs that and administrative jobs that have been eliminated because of states cutting back on them. How will Mr. Romney come up with the narrative that says " I now support teachers unions and government jobs if it means getting women back working" or does stick to his own words and say "the best way to get education back on the right track is block grant the funding to states and let them judge what cities and suburban areas and rural get the necessary funding to educate there states the way they want." In other words you see no support of women on behalf of Mr. Romney in less he lies and changes his position on just this one issue. This is why he is an utterly flawed candidate and as long as the President doesn't have any major hiccups Mr. Romney will lose 60-40% in the general.
Kind've hard to ignore the fact that GOP unanimously voted against the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, want to force us to get permission from our boss to get contraception, want to force us to get medical procedures we don't want or need, plus numerous other anti-women measures.
Agreed ... it is inconceivable to me that the Republicans deny their war on women, and accuse Obama as being the one with the "war on women." Preposterous! The Republicans have already lost this election in my view, and deservedly so.
There is no more important job in the world then being a mother. The major problems with society today are directly due to the fact that families are falling apart.and parents do not know how to parent and raise their own children. If more women were like Ann Romney, our country would be better off.
Children tend to have two parents, not one.
They both need to be responsible.
Yes, we should all have maids and nannies to raise our kids while we travel back and forth from one to the other of our five or more houses.
Oversimplistic. Another major factor in the current state of affairs is education in independent thought and the ability to question. Something the right-wing GOP stands absolutely opposed to as it tries to wipe out the Department of Education, homeschools the next generation of right-wing extremists to avoid any chance of rational thought from disrupting their brainwashing of their own children by actual trained educators....
American: I'm sure that 90% of women with children would LOVE to stay home and raise their children; however, most of them weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouths and HAVE to work to support their familes. And, yes, BOTH parents need to be responsible, and they can do that AND work jobs. I've seen it done. But, what's the use of staying home with your children when you have a nanny to take care of them? I can pretty much guarantee you that his wife didn't raise her children all by herself!!
If "more women were like Ann Romney" we would have a lot more families living in poverty. Ms. Romney's decision that her "career" would be motherhood is a choice that most people, male and female, are not able to make for economic reasons. I'm all for freedom of choice (especially when it comes to contraception and abortion), but let's remember that the choices available to the wealthy elite (those with "a couple of Cadillacs" apiece) are not necessarily there for the rest of us.
MorganMinPin, you're right on the money!!!
I know lots of middle class families with stay at home mothers. In fact I know a very poor family (their friends of the family) who's mother stays at home. She has two toddlers and as far as I know has no other option as far as child care is concerned. Her husbands a bus driver. Staying at home with your children isn't only an option for the rich. However having two working parents does make the financial load easier.
the men now give us a choice to decide whether we want to stay home or work, but the men decide the choices about women bodies, does that make sense. Our bodies are the most important and we should have the choice, just as a choice about staying home or not.
Mae, why is it that you allow men to make your decisions concerning your body? I am also a woman, and I make my own decisions regarding my body. My sex life is my own, and I and my partner alone are responsible for the costs involved with birthcontrol and such.
I find it funny that so many want the government or insurance companies or whoever to stay out of their bedrooms, but then have no problem expecting the goverment or insurance companies to pay for the actions that result in those bedrooms. If you want to use birth control. Get it.
I am a woman voting for Romney. I will gladly stay out of yours and everyone elses bedrooms so long as you stay out of my pockets.
You have your choice as to what to with your body. I have no problem with that.
@ Janine-1645002:
I suggest you re-look at what the repub's and conservatives are saying. Staying out of other peoples bedrooms (and doctor's offices) ISN'T on the repub platform.
I am sure that Al Sharpton and the the main street media will be coming to Mrs. Romney's defense about her righs to choose her lifestyle and where she wants and needs to work. Where is the outrage from Mr. Sharpton and the main street media over the unkind comments that Hillary person who represents the White House's position on women. Let's play fair and nice. This White House is fraught wil mean spirited people and the press has an obligation to take them to task. Where did the fair and balanced reporting from days goneby go? I have worked all my life both in the home and outside - my choice - and it should be defeneded by each of you.
What, exactly, do you expect anyone to defend? NO one has actually attacked anyone's "lifestyle choice", unless you count the Catholic League attacking someone for adopting children.
Hilary Rosen does not "represent the White House's position on women." She has no official position AT ALL in the Obama administration.
If that is all the righwingers have to dispute the nasty, divisive war on women that is coming from the right, then they are going to have real problems.
Susan, why are you putting Al Sharpton in this? Why are you lying about Ms. Rosen representing the White House's position on this? (See the article on VP Biden's comments of the remarks made today?) You are right about fair and balanced no longer existing, because you just made an unfair and unbalanced posting about this issue.
By your comments I would surmise that you lean Republican and support their agenda. If what I suspect is true regarding your political leanings I have to wonder why you would support a political party that would deny you and other women the right to have contraception included as part of preventative health care? Why would you support unequal pay for equal work? Why would you support a party that legislates invasive, demeaning medical procedures for women seeking an abortion; which is a legal medical procedure under the duly constituted laws of the United States of America?
If you truly believe that Ms. Rosen was commenting against 'Stay-At-Home-Moms' then I am afraid that you are ideologically driven in your thought process and thereby would look at any Democratic Party representative as being a spokesperson for the entire Democratic Party.
I do defend your choice to work, or stay home. The point Ms. Rosen was making, in-eloquent as she may have been, is that for Willard Romney to tell the public that he gets advice on what AMERICAN women want and what AMERICAN women think does not equal the reality of what the AVERAGE MIDDLE CLASS WORKING WOMAN thinks. Mrs. Ann Romney was a Stay-At-Home mom by choice and it is good that she had that opportunity. For many women today being a Stay-At-Home mom is not an option; and that is a reality. Many married women today do not have the option to stay at home because of their household needs the income in order to support the financial obligations of their family.
Almost every single mother has to work in order to financially support her children. The ones who do not work are routinely demonized by the Republican party as lazy, shiftless, welfare queens and all other assorted derogatory names.
So pardon us on the left who sincerely respect the right of Stay-At-Home-Moms but understand the reality of Ms. Rosen's statement when she said that Mrs. Ann Romney has never worked (outside of the home) a day in her life.
The parenthesized words are mine to illustrate my understanding of Ms. Rosen's comment.
sayitaintSO - BRAVO!!! great screen name.
I did not find anything said about Ann Romney offensive. Don't understand what all the yelling is about. The woman is rich of course she is not going to work. One can only heop she will not be our first lady, hopefully romney won't be president, i am not voting for him. The gop is full of crap. only they don't seem to realize they are stepping in it.
http://nbcpolitics.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/02/10/10375038-romney-boasts-of-severely-conservative-record-in-cpac-speech
Okay so he's a conservative antiwoman liar, is there anything else I need to know?
Please tell me people are not dumb enough to elect this man.
If you listen closely, you can hear the flushing sound of ol' Etch-A-Sketch's chances of winning in November going down the drain.
We can try to accomplish something constructive while he's running, at least:
If Romney supports women,
Don't let him get away with talking out of both sides of his mouth!!!
Why don't you like Rush?
RushISaPIG Rush is going under? Actually his audience has gotten larger. Oh wait it's the Current channel that's going under. Al Gore owner. Kieth Oberstupid fired from there also. Do you want Maddcow, I get a tingle Matthews, Racist #1 Sharpton, all stifledor just the conservativeTalk shows? How about Obama and his "WE" are drilling more then before. Where does he come into it. Those were Bush and the Republican policies that are drilling. He voted against them. Now he takes credit. He talks with forked tongue and out both sides of his mouth.
Yes KatGirl, people will vote for Romney. So it is extremely important that all the attacks the GOP is making on women's rights get out in the open. Women must unite to stop the train wreck aimed at them. If they do, they can virtually stop it on their own. But they must unite in the effort.
Let's hope all women Remember in November - Vote the GOP OUT!
All I heard today from the right wing extremists men and women on the radio were attacks defending ms. Romney. They were comparing apples and oranges. Ms. Romney has probably never had to work at a job outside the home and they are complaining that she was insulted by Democrats who said she doesn't work. What a crock. Besides, she probably has maids, nannies, housekeepers and cooks and probably sits by the pool all day picking her nose.
What really drove me nuts today was that all the news services were saying that unemployment is way up for women and they were "whispering" that it's "Obama's" fault. The fact is that the rethug governors in the red states have laid off hundreds of thousands of teachers, what the hell do they expect. These fascist pig republican corporatists need to be stomped so badly in November that the party will not survive another minute.
Mrs. Romney has MS, I highly doubt she has the energy to sit by the pool and pick her nose.
Jackie Kennedy had maids, nannies, housekeepers and cooks. Did you criticize her too?
I would have :) You have kids, YOU raise them.
Ol' Mittens and his campaign can be just as counter-offensive as their little hearts tell them to be. It will NOT change a dot on all the anti-woman legislation that state Republicans have been passing, nor that which Congressional Republicans would like to pass.
All the fuzzy photos of Mittens and his little Mittlets notwithstanding.
I need a paxil
Hey paxil, I like your handle. I could use a paxil myself when I read the never ending flood of lies coming from the right wing fanatics out there. If we don't stop the corporate take over of America in November there won't be anything left for average Americans. Then all the Republicans will have to do is write laws turning America into a corporate dictatorship........... That may sound far fetched but if you listen to Romney and company it's more than possible.
Try Celexa. It acts as a gatekeeper by making you think before saying something you'll regret later or act wrongly. No "La-La-Land" feelings, just a sense that you are acting smartly.
Republicans just don't understand that the slang term "Mother F_cker's" wasn't supposed to become a political ideology worthy of the 21st century
The are a party without ideas & a party without a moral conscious
Romney's wife looks like a man. Hmmmn, another man as first lady? Wonder how that will work out? How will he feel having to work on a Sunday? I wonder who will be appointed to wash his "Angel Shorts" that he has to wear under his underwear, courtesy of the cult with all the special Freemason's logos on them that were stolen from the Masons by Joe Smith. So sad that he lives in a fantasy world!
Mrs. Romney worked very hard hiring nannies to raise her children, chefs to cook for them, maids to clean up after her kids, chauffeurs ...
Great example (your comments) of someone who's bought into, lock, stock and barrel, the President's Class, Economic, and Gender racism.
Funny you mention chefs and maids. Just last week I had to let my chef go and end my contract with MerryMaids and replace them with illegal immigrants at half the cost.
Well, I'll tell you one thing, she did a damn fine job of finding the help. She has 5 grown sons and in two Presidential campaigns I haven't heard a word about them misbehaving. Ask any mother of 5 boys what an accomplishment that is....Give credit where credit is due Harbinger.
26 deleted, Juiceisgood beginning a string of #1 violations, in part:
You're suspended for a week for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
And Obama doesn't?
So, basically what annoys most of you posters complaining about Mrs. Romney is the fact that she has money; money to hire nannies; maids; housekeepers. You don't KNOW that she does; she just has the money. That's soooooooo "open-minded" and "Tolerant" of you all; that IS supposed to be what your ideology embraces.
The fact is there is not one of you here blasting her who would turn down her position in life; and you are essentially hating on her for having a privileged life. As there are some who chronically post at all hours of the day & night, it would seem you have nothing else to do. Perhaps a little work would improve your station in life.
Tyler
Could you please apply those rules in an even handed fashion. Feisty routinely makes personal attacks and uses all sorts of derogatory comments, but is never censored.
See post 1.15 for a mild example.
No arslp, what annoys us is that a TV commentator made a ham-fisted attempt to make a legitimate case -- that Mrs. Romney pretends to be the everywoman while living a life far removed from the average American -- and Conservatives have attempted to both spin that as an attack on ALL women AND pin it on the White House.
It's the lying that annoys us.
John:
First of all, it was Hilary Rosen, a Democratic lobbyist, that brought up Mrs. Romney - that she had never worked a day in her life. Ms. Rosen is not a ham-fisted TV commentator.
Second, Ann Romney, has raised five children. Whether you are rich or not, that is hard work, even with help. She has had breast cancer and has MS. Her life has not been without problems, money or not. I can identify with her far more than Hilary Rosen.
So you admit that Ms. Rosen isn't connected to a campaign and that her comment wasn't directed at "every woman" but at Ann Romney specifically.
The problem is, there's just nothing to this story. Someone not connected to any candidate said something insensitive about a woman. Happens every day.
Ask Rush Limbaugh.
I admit that Rosen is a Democratic lobbyist. When do you admit she's not a: "TV commentator who made a ham-fisted attempt" at anything? Don't put words in my mouth when you can't even keep your own facts straight.
Someone not connected to any candidate said something insensitive about a woman. Happens every day.
Ask Rush Limbaugh.
Strike 5! You're 'otta there!
Oh, that's right. You bought the team and changed the rules.
I guess we'll just have to watch strike 6, 7, 8, 9... however many it takes.
Sorry, you just can't change FACTS. Mitt, you chose which team to be on. Now live with it.
This is a fascinating look into the twisted mind of a liberal. This shows just how sick and twisted they are. Full of hate for anyone who doesn't meet their narrow little definition. You should seek some help for your illness. I prescribe a daily dose of Dr. Limbaugh for the next three years. That should at least set you on the road to recovery.
RHO you are one sick dude! Dr. Limbaugh the head shrinker has shrunk your brain to that of an ant.
well, yeah, offtheirheads, but the man does get some stompin' drugs!!!!And RHO is right that a really strong drug regimen will turn your thinking around. Just look how much it did for Ruskie Limberger. Did you know he was a pre-law student in college, planning to work for the ACLU??? Just look how well the drugs worked for him!!
Hey, hey, HEY!!! There will be NO doctor shopping in these threads! I know that 'Dr' Limbaugh is good at this, but we wouldn't want him getting busted with something like a bunch of oxycontin in his suitcase, coming from the Dominican Republic, or something like that, would we??? Oh, wait!
My friend is soooooo drugged up, I can convince him to vote republican.
