Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash. wants to focus full time on running for governor of Washington state this fall.
Updated at 4:44 p.m. ET: SEATTLE -- Rep. Jay Inslee is resigning from Congress to focus full time on running for governor of Washington state this fall.
Inslee, a Democrat in his eighth term representing the Seattle-area 1st District, announced his decision Saturday ;at a news conference in Seattle.
Washington's Democratic governor, Christine Gregoire, is retiring at the end of her term, and Inslee wants to suceed her. State Attorney General Rob McKenna is the leading Republican candidate for governor.
Inslee is among 22 Democratic members of the House who are not seeking re-election, along with 16 Republicans.
If Inslee had resigned by March 6, Gregoire would have had to order a special election to fill his congressional seat, setting off a scramble among the half-dozen candidates in the 1st District race, according to The Seattle Times. But if he steps down March 7 or later, his seat would remain vacant until after the November elections, the newspaper said.
His resignation is effective March 20.
President Barack Obama praised Inslee's political accomplishments.
"Through the course of more than 20 years working on behalf of Washington state, including more than a decade in Congress, Jay Inslee has never forgotten where he came from," Obama said in a statement issued by the White House. "A son of the Pacific Northwest, Jay has been a champion of our natural resources while pushing for new sources of clean energy. Jay has supported new frontiers in technology, and worked to increase fairness in our nation's health care system. While Jay's voice in Congress will be missed, I know he will continue his dedicated service to the people of Washington state."

Another rat jumps ship.
Big decisions for the Country do we elect Republican Taliban or forward moving Democrats
Maybe the big decision is to keep voting for the same old tired "choices" or to move on and demand more competition in DC by voting up third parties and independents? Forget dumb and dumber. It's time to move up!
Have yet to meet or hear about a forward moving Demoncrat...Can you give us an example of one? I mean every Demoncrat I see is frantically spending the Taxpayers money to buy votes with and Union votes with and doing nothing that is actually helping the Country...So I surely hope this inept free-spending financially incompetent member of Congress whose talents are relegated to Tax and Spend mentality does go back home where the people who voted for him deserve his special skills....I mean America has suffered enough over the 8 years he has PUNISHED US for his incompetence and it is about time you voters back home were Punished for voting for him...What goes around comes around...so please Vote for him, please!!! America is begging you!
Now running for Governor. We need Bush and Cheney back in office as their terms were the best America has seen and many Americans would vote them back in office. Americans don't want Peace President like Obama the US want a War President like Bush called himself. Thanks to GOP spokeperson Rush Limbaugh women know their place.
Yo! Jackie!! Your comment remnds me so very much of quotes from interviews of Moscovites lamenting Gorby and democratization and reminiscing over how wonderful is was under Communist administrations. And objecting to the "Peace President???" Would you prefer a "War President??????!!!!" If you think Bush/Cheney was the zenith of American competency.... and that Rush Limbaugh is the consumate, unbiased, level-headed, fair-minded newsperson..... mannnnnn.... you are deluded beyond recovery. Please..... consider professional help..... Good Lord........
Another "career politician" who sees the writing on the wall.
And for Mr. Inslee's odds of winning the Governors seat in Washington State: a flat NIL.
Tax and spend on the beltway will not work in Washington State either. Maybe before he leaves office, he will find out why Washington State is leading the pack in Unemployment Benefits FRAUD.
I'll need to look into him more. Christine Gregoire has been a terrible governor. The only good thing she has done is passed the gay marriage bill.
bicfi, bicfi, bicfi
There is no such thing as a forward moving democrat. They are all moving us toward the cliff, and continue their traditional tax and spend mentality, as well as continuing to keep themselves in power by building an entitlement society. You can keep repeating your mantra, but the fact is the democrat party is the most corrupt party in history.
There are problems with the republican party, but mostly in the so called progressive or establishment leadership, who are in their policies and attitudes indistinguishable from democrats. That is why the republican leadership hates the tea party as much as the democrats do.
As for being owned by the rich, take a look at Sorros and who he supports. That's right, he supports the Occupy Movement and Obama. And he owns both.
uaw-779887....."Big decisions for the Country do we elect Republican Taliban or forward moving Democrats."
Barf. UAW is living with Mr. Biden, and the White House, in a Twilight Zone. Maybe UAW is scared he/she will lose some of those Social benefits if someone other than a Progressive Liberal Democrat is voted into office somewhere.
Another reason this Democrat will NOT VOTE for Mr. Obama, or any Democratic campaigner, for election or re-election.
take a look at Sorros and who he supports. That's right, he supports the Occupy Movement
You are seriously uninformed about OWS if you think Sorros "owns" it. The movement has rejected all financial aid from the rich or from corporations. Sorros has said that he thinks the message of wealth inequality that the movement is spreading is a valid point, but he does not "support" the movement. That is propaganda.
Common man, I was just thinking the same thing, A lot of these GOP Congressmen will need another job come the 2012 elections, the BS they pulled the past couple of years are disgraceful and will end-up paying the piper, these Congressmen are directly responsible for this mess and should be held accountable ....
Satanick
Soros supports any fool that is on the wrong side or who he thinks will help his front man Obama get re-elected. AS to Inslee, I say, another one bites the dust and sees the writing on the wall. You don't see Republicans or Independents running for the hills like this except Snow who was just a Democrat in a Republican mask. May all his fellow Obama cohorts follow his path.
common man: not the brightest bulb are you.
Tax and spend versus War and spend. At least tax and spend implies a balanced approach. The last time we had a Republican in the White House we became a War and spend country with tax breaks for the rich. The last time we had a Republican in office we killed our regulatory departments and lost the economy. The last Republican administration created the largest delta between spending and income in the history of our country. And THEY call us tax and spend?
The fact that our economy is now on a slow and steady recovery (the most stable kind of recovery) WITHOUT killing the tax structure and necessary regulations, says that we're headed for a logical recovery reminiscent of the Clinton days.
Get rid of the wars, find funding for Homeland Security and Medicaid, get rid of the 3.6 % tax break for the rich, raise the 15% capital gains tax, and fix Social Security and Medicare, and we're there.
We need to get off the brainless tact that the very people that caused this mess want us to take.
Call me tax and spend. I don't give a sh!t. I have a workable proven plan. You haven't a clue. You screwed us up in the first place.
Didn't really read the article did you , Common man ?
eddie s, you're so funny. Everything in your right-wing TP rant is nothing more than typical regurgitation of extremist anti views of anything done by Democrats. I seriously doubt if you know anything factual about the Inslee's legislative record. You just saw "Democrat" and automatically pushed the button that spews the same garbage that every other TP Republican vomits. At least you made me laugh.
"Get rid of the wars, find funding for Homeland Security and Medicaid,....."
Great idea....more money for both organizations which are crammed packed full of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse.
Examples:
1. DHS....spent $ 30,000,000,000 on a non-operable Boeing Virtual Fence.
2. Medicaid....BIGGEST Fraudulent government run organization just ahead of Medicaid, FHA, and now government run and controlled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Yep, that is Mr. Obama's agenda....curtail troop deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan so he can use the $$$ on his "Go Green" agenda.
Example:
Fund his "Go Green" recharge stations throughout the U.S., which by the way run on electricity supplied by coal fired electrical plants (oooops, that pesky CO2 emissions), IF YOU PURCHASE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE (not the $ 100,000 Feskter lemon or the $ 100,000 American taxpayer supported electric vehicle made in Finland).
Back to your mushroom.
Ido, the link as the source of the article is FOX. Seriously? You take anything these Repug propaganda machines puke out as real information? LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
ido: I'm in favor of a transition to electric cars. I know they'd then run on electricity from coal, but there are a wider variety of means of producing electricity than coal and any other car technology would lock us into one energy source (ethanol, hydrogen, etc.), whereas sources of electricity are multiple. Just one example, where I live in the rural south almost every "middle-sized" town (say around 5000) on its outskirts has an abandoned "municipal power plant" by a small dam. These were closed down in the 1950s when big energy providers took over. What if many smallish towns owned their own small electrical companies again and got power from such dams (or from solar farms or wind farms or geothermal)? There would be less "risk" of a general grid failure. Electricity would be cheaper (I'm on a municipal co-op telephone system and, as a part owner of the co-op, I get a check every fall that refunds about 1/3 of the cost of my phone and cable and internet throughout the year--that[s WAY better than seeing that money disappear into the hands of "shareholders" of a corporation who don't lift a finger to earn it). In case of catastrophe like a war on our soil or a natural disaster, fewer communities would have their power shut off by factors out of their control. So, I think electric cars are the way to go, but I do want to start limiting our use of coal (and of natural gas, for that matter) to produce the electricity to power them.
ldo
My post was addressing the financial imbalances Bush created, but you are correct... I forgot one. By "starving the beast" we lost all function from regulators and watchdogs. Obama, in spite of GOP criticism, has increased funding to regulator and watchdog departments... haven't you noticed heavier hands coming down on fraud of late?
Thanks for pointing that out.
After the way Gregoire ran this state into the gutter Inslee would be best off staying where he is, because there's no way in hell another democrat is going to make it into the governor's mansion any time soon.
Seems to me a lot like Palin jumping ship to run for VP and now this Rep. is jumping ship to run for Govenor.
Good, now if we could get the rest of them to leave of their own free will, we can get some fresh blood and get back to doing what is best for the country. Not just the chosen few.
I know. Eight terms! How many other congressional fossils are out there?
Easy answer AG99, too many. Power corrupts and long term power corrupts absolutely.
onermail: My problem with your complaint about "the chosen few" is that WE chose them. Don't we want the people WE chose to be running things????
The chosen few are lobbyists who get the perky deals out of Congress. I would like our repRESENTatives to represent us, not the chosen few.
onermail: thanks for the clarification, but I'm not sure how replacing Congressmen/women accomplishes your goal as doing that would not cause the lobbyists to disappear and might in fact increase their power as the only way these newbies would ever have enough money to run successful campaigns against incumbents is through raising it from lobbies to whom they'd then be beholden (as we're seeing with the itchy rash of Tea Party freshmen).
Good for him - too many people don't realize that the radical-right has its eyes on state offices. Don't get too distracted by the presidential and congressional elections. The right is trying to fill the state pipelines with people like Scott Walker, and Kasich.
Besides, there are term limits in every Federal congressional and senatorial election. Apparently, Inslee's constituents are satisfied with his performance.
Example. In 2010 we got a whole new batch of congress critters. And all we've received so far are attacks against "the pill." Good Lord! What a bunch of losers.
Yeah, jrae, and with the socialist fool in the WH, we're going to hold the House, then take the Senate and stop this socialist crap of Bozobama's from going ANY further, as well as strengthening our positions in the states. Sanity WILL return, especially when we boot Bozobama back to Chicago in November.
Good, one more waste of breath Republican gone that we don't have to worry about.
kraussk,
You win the Rigthtwingnut Prize for Outlandish Quote: "Sanity will return...." when President Obama leaves office.
In your warped sense of the world, who do you think will bring the sanity back? Santorum? Romney? Let me guess, Gingrich????
I always believe that it is possible to 'agree to disagree' and don't leave these blogs angry. What does trouble me however are those like Brenda 1964 who didn't even read the article (less than one page) and make ridiculous statements. Inslee is a DEMOCRAT Brenda!
mhrjhn- Maybe she meant commonman and the cronies in the first thread, now collapsed. :D
Speaking of Congressional Democrats, former Flordia Rep Alan Grayson (D) ran a red light and hit a bus when he was in a hurry to get to a fundraiser. 2 people in the bus had minor injuries, I hope they have a speedy recovery. It appears he will be charged. Not a good thing to have on the resume as he attempts to regain his seat that was lost in 2010.
This is the same Alan Grayson who said that the GOP was like Al Qaeda in the pilot's seat of an airplane, and that the GOP's healthcare plan was to hope that sick people "die quickly". Harsh words from a man who risked public safety to get to a fundraiser on time.
Frequent 99% supporter Grayson ran a red light and hit a bus while driving his Mercedes on the way to a fundraiser. You can't make this stuff up.
Strange that there is no story on MSNBC's website yet...
I wonder if a well meaning trial lawyer will be filing a lawsuit against Grayson on behalf of the 2 injured passengers?
I guess the old saying is true. "Never stand between a Democrat and other people's money."
Fo' Mo' With B.O.!!! Fo' Mo' Wif' B.O.!!!
BTW Brenda 1964, I think Rep. Inslee is a Democrat
Weasel: I don't know where you've been looking, but when I searched msnbc for "Alan Grayson" the very first story that appears is about the accident to which you refer, so your comment about it being strange there is no msnbc story on it is absolutely false. People have car accidents. I'm sure the insurance companies and their attorneys will figure it all out. Just curious: did you vote against Bush/Cheney because both of them had DUI convictions? Didn't think so.
We have 17 Tea Retards that infiltrated Congress that act like a militant group, they must be removed before they destroy this Nation. Throw the 1% Kochead puppets out.
I guess I don't get how this is even a story anywhere but the land of the 24 hour news cycle and in your mind.
Some congressman ran a red light. Whoa... wow, I KNOW I HAVE NEVER done that. I NEVER make mistakes when I'm driving or doing anything else.
Geeze. Talk about non-news. Now if he'd have been stoned or getting a BJ that might amount to something...
Bye, please don't come back except as a bumble bee. Like a bumbling idiot, you know.
Do you have any actual concept of what socialism is? I didn't think so.
Yes, but obviously you dont. It is the ticket to big boss central government and everyone living at the poverty level....except of course the big boss government officials....Why does the left keep up this crap that no one knows what socialism is....dumb, dumb, dumb....
Love Jay!!! I wish him the best in his quest to become governor of Washington
Why vote for another quitter? We have enough people supporting all the wrong issues as it.
Jennit. It sounds that you are a real Washingtonian - as opposed to we outsiders who like to comment liberally (oooops.... sorry....) on a person with whom we are totally unfamiliar. Please. Follow up with more extensive writing. And DKJ.... If Jay had retained his seat and devoted a great portion of his time campaigning for governor.... I'll bet you would have been infinitely critical about abandoning obligations as a legislator. Hmmmmm..... What do ya think about beloved Sarah "quitting" mid-term.... without the reasoning of running for another office......?????? Eh?/ Eh?? Yeah.... I thought so..... Zip up: Your agenda is showing.................
DKJ, you're an idiot. Anyone who actually in Washington knows that he's not quitting Politics, he's simply running for governor. I'm voting for him. He's actually done a good job representing my district too in congress. While he will be missed in congress, I think he'll do a good job in the Washington Governors mansion. Thanks Jersey Bob for defending Jennit for me so I didn't have to. (But I think I just did anyways. =D)
Jay Inslee is quite possibly (actually is)the slimiest, most sold-out person/ politician I have met in my life. He has been bought by the far left wing for most of those too many years he has been in politics. He had to leave the East side of the state because he was so hated. He moved to Seattle as we all know anything goes over there and there are no morals or ethics.... a perfect fit. Get all the way out Jay. Save our state and don't even give anyone a chance to vote for you. The idiots in the tri-county area will vote for him just because there is a D next to his name. D should be for the grade he has earned, not for his political association. Please think before you vote and say away from Jay!
Actually if he quits before the end of his term, he is a quiter. He was elected by the people for a set time and he has not fulfilled his term..If he wants to quit to run for govenor, he needs to quit now and run next time.
He is showing the people of Washington that his wants are more important than their needs. So much for being a public servant!
Shadowofself, bet you ten to one you never said that about Sarah, did you? Fess up slick, you really didn't say anything when she quit 1/2 way through her term. Typical BS from a pugbag.
Jay Inslee sure beats that lying windbag of a Attny Gen who's running for WA State Governor. Glad to see he's taking this mission seriously. I was worried for sometime that he was spending too much time with the National issues and not enough time on our balanced budget here in WA.
Didn't the Texas Tornado GEEDUBYEE' "quit" his Governor post?
I sure hope he will be our next Governor!!! We'll be working for you Jay!
So he intentionally keeps his district from having representation til next year due to the resignation date - - pretty selfish!!
Once again the truth of a real politicain, do what ever benifits themselves & their friends. Wouldn't be surprise to find he is union backed.
Too bad he gets a retirement check from the Government,we need to stop all Public retirements and let them donate to their 401Ks as we have to.
parkwayne - He is a Democrat, so his district never had representation anyway. He does what the president or his party wants, his constituents are of little concern.
pjam: and God forbid the Republican ever vote as their party wants! You seem to be unaware of the unanimous opposition of Republicans in Congress to whatever the President proposes, even when it's exactly what Republicans proposed in past years.
Actually ds it has been the Republicans who have been fractured and difficult to corral, remember? It's the Dums who march lockstep with the Unions and Dum Leadership. Tell me again the last time Harry Reid or Princess Nancy had an original thought of their own? Can you give me an example please? I'll wait....
Oh, maybe their outright rejection of a public option in the Health Care Reform Act, perhaps??? Maybe their failure to pass the Dream Act? Their push to extend the Bush era tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy when Obama pleaded in public with them not to do that? Their failure even to vote on Card Check for union membership?
Ah, nice to see the rightwingnut liars out in force today.
Didn't the Texas Tornado GEEDUBYEE' "quit" his Governor post?
Why do we do this? Look, Inslee is to me of little good as a politician but he has every right to quit his position in order to run for higher office. I would like in my state a change which simply says that if you submit papers to run for a seat not your own then you resign your seat at the next election regardless of the outcome of the other race, and it is filled during the same election. But we should do nothing to stop a politician from doing what we could do as well in our own jobs. So instead of a little common sense in how we deal with these issues we end up in a spitting match over...what? Nothing, that's what.
The people in Washington state can elect who they want for governor, just as the lunatics in my state often do. And instead of focusing on significant policy differences we instead pick a fight over the idea that Inslee is abandoning or quitting his voters. Like the intellectually inert dems just showed though this works both ways. Conservatives like me should instead engage the debate over why Obamacare is already a failure and worse, over why this president is waging his own war on women, over how financially insane this president was to spend well over $4 trillion MORE dollars in order to gain what he claims is 4 million more workers (see, it means--and we are using Obama's own claims about job creation here so the numbers are skewed in his favor improperly already--that EACH job Obama claims to have created has cost the treasury of the USA about a million bucks. We'd have been better off just dumping cash out of helicopters and letting people scramble to pick it up.
Then we should demand of people like Inslee, a man who seems incapable of any disagreement with the president, to defend those policy positions. Inslee has helped Mr. Obama to make this nation far less wealthy than even Mr. Bush was able to accomplish. And so it is with most in DC. Say they are for the 1% if you want, or for the lobbyists and not the people if you want, but the sad fact is that the liberals on this thread will defend these very people and attack republicans. We need to stop this madness. Just because someone with a D after their name wants to pass a bill doesn't make it good, same with those with an R after their name. Medicare Part D--bad law. NCLB--bad law. Obamacare--very bad law. Stimulus--about as bad a law as you could imagine.
The problem here isn't that one side or the other caters to the wrong group, it is that BOTH sides cater to voters' wishes far too much. I want my constitution back, and I will support anyone, R or D, that wants it back too.
So shawdowfest what does that mean for Senators and Congressmen who quit to run for president then?? Does it occurr to anyone that perhaps this guy thinks that because of the current conduct of congress, (you know, the kind thats screwing Americans over!) he and his constiuents would be better suited if he came back to run the state where he can actually be effective rather than being stuck in the useless circus called the current congress?? Don't know anything about this guy but am intrigued as to exactly why he's doing this and I intend to research it rather that make assumptions which we all know makes (^)sses out of those who assume. Don't get directly effected by what he does but am in the neighboring state of Oregon so it's pretty close to home. Time will tell. I am so sick of the backstabbing, name calling, and the hatefilled posts from both sides. Sincerely can't wait until this election year is OVER!! Think we're all losers for the next 4 years no matter who gets elected. Do we really want 4 more years of rebulicians doing every thing they can to discredit and weaken the current POTUS? 4 more years of the public being screwed and the nation being destroyed because one party hates another. That goes both ways with democrats working towards screwing over republicns rather than striving to get this country back on it's feet and working for everybody instead of just the rich and powerful? Current youth doesn't seem to have one public figure left that they can believe in, trust, and respect as an example of putting America before their own agendas. Why can't peole see the bs has to stop and we have to work together as one nation before we all end up speaking chinese.
They all know their days are numbered in Congress. Vote your Congressman out the first chance you get unless he bows out like the rest of the existing turds that hold office. They all know it's coming.
Lets get them out before they reach retirement on the tax payers dime.
stormer F,
They reach retirement as soon as they get elected in terms of having a guarenteed retirement check.
shakingmy: your statement "they reach retirement as soon as they get elected in terms of having a guarenteed [sic] retirement check" is untrue. Members of Congress are not vested in their retirement system until they have five years of service. That's exactly why Gabby Giffords didn't resign her seat until more than a year after she was shot; she waited until she was vested in the retirement system to do so.
The option of staying until you are eligible for retirement is not always available to our wounded so it should not be available to the members of congress. Good for goose, good for the gander!
shadow: so you're saying that a duly, legally elected representative must resign immediately if s/he is injured or becomes ill? Currently we have two US senators (Johnson D SD and Kirk R IL) who are so incapacitated by strokes that they cannot function in their jobs. Should they resign? Should the three sitting Supreme Court justices who are battling cancer resign? Your argument is just bogus. Wounded servicemen may inded not legally allowed to stay on until retirement, but elected officials can absolutely stay in office until their terms expire.
If a wounded soldier is taken out of the service due to medical reasons, then they are entitled (whoa, more entitlements, tongue in cheek) to medical disability pay, for life, even if they can work on the outside, which they usually can, due to the preferred status they get when government is hiring. That's similar to retirement.
The fewer Dems in congress the better off we all are.
Frank, to quote the reply most used by you right wingers, you are delusional.
Sure wasn't the Democrats that created this mess ...... The GOP played games and purposely created this economy in their attempt to oust Obama with no consideration for the American people they all need to go the more GOP that lose their jobs the better for America ...
And thanks to the Dem governor for "retiring".
Mexico is not going to like hearing that their politicians are being removed.
Rick, Wow are you uninformed or just intellectually dishonest!!! How exactly did the Republicans "create this economy"? What a dumb statement! The Dums have had Congress since 2006 until the country kicked them out in a historic wave election in 2010. They had the Congress and the Presidency from 2008 to 2010, so how again did the Republicans "create this economy"? Was it the budgets that they passed? Oh wait, the Dums haven't passed a budget in 3 years. Was it all of the stimulus spending that actually only went to Unions and some weak one time tax cuts? Was it Trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see? Tell me exactly how the Republicans "created this economy" Rick?
iam: Rick can speak for himself, but I'd argue taking a surplus in 2000 that--had we stuck to it, we'd be only two years away from paying off the national debt now--the nation enjoyed then and giving it away in tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy so that we went from those surpluses to record, stunning annual deficits, constitutes creating this economy. Oh, and the Repubs did a few more things too: appointing corporate hacks to regulatory agencies and to head FEMA; passing tax loopholes that allows US corporations to write the expenses of off-shoring American jobs off their taxes; perhaps two unfunded wars (one entered into on the basis of a complete lie) added to the mess. I'd give Obama economic credit where credit is due: Dow-Jones up 6000 points over its Bush-era low; saving the US automobile industry and returning it to profitability; twice passing extensions of unemployment benefits in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression; slow but steady job growth without a return of inflation.
So you don't see the extortion of the Unemployment extension as hurting our economy and they did it more than once how many people you think got affected by that single BS. You republicans think everyone is sleeping like you sheep ......
Sorry iamstooppid, but the origins of our current economic mess started well before Obama ever began even running for President -- as far back as the '80s to be honest -- and continued through EVERY president since, Rep or Dem, who sat by as Wall Street and the banks wrote their own rules. Then, when everything went completely to sh1t between 2006 and 2008, they let them write their own plan to save their own @sses and they used billions of dollars of taxpayers' money to give themselves multi-million dollar severance packages and began recovering their lost profits by foreclosing and evicting the same taxpayers who bailed them out and just reselling thier homes with no remorse.
You should just go back to the kid's table over at FauxNews and listen to Uncle Scammity and Bill O'Liely's horror stories about unions and the liberal controlled media. Try to stay out of the adult talking spaces and if you want proof of all the lies and hypocrisy you take as the gospel truth from them, do a minimal amount of web research and check out what they were saying about $4+/gallon gas in 2008 under Bush, and what they're saying now about it under Obama.
"And thanks to the Dem govenor for retiring." Again, another lie from a rightwingnut liar. Good example.
All kinds of tough talk. Of course, there is more turnover at a retail store than in our legislatures.
Good Riddance Corrupt a hole. How do I know? He's in Congress.
Sure he resigns so he can start collecting his outrageous congressional retirement pay and maybe get another pay check on top.
Eight terms Too Late, but better late than Never that another Dem is GONE!
This is everything that's wrong with politics in the US. Eight terms in the house - and now i think I'll be governor. How about actually getting a real job and being productive instead of being a career politician?
ctvik: "career politician"? You mean like Mitt (who has been running for office his whole adult life) or like Newt (twenty years in Congress) or like little Ricky (two terms in the House and two in the Senate) or like Ron Paul (twenty-four years in Congress)? If you want a President who isn't a "career politician," how about Barack Obama, who served only part of one Senate term?
dsl - "how about Barack Obama, who served only part of one Senate term?"
We are well aware of his inexperience, he reminds us daily.
pjam: can you please be consistent? Do you want people in government who have experience or do you want to get rid of career politicians. You can't have it both ways.
I want somebody who has actually achieved something in life - not an Ivy League lawyer or someone who has had one government job after another. I don't like Mitt Romney because I think he's part of the problem, not part of the solution. He'll just spend us into bankruptcy like the others. But at least governor to President is not a lateral move. At least he has accomplished some things though. He was successful at Bain Capital, even if you find that work distasteful. He ran the winter Olympics. Still this is not an endorsement of Romney.
You are right about those other guys, Newt, Santorum, and Ron Paul. They are just as guilty as the congressman in this article.
As for Obama, he is completely useless and incompetent. He got into Columbia via affirmative action. Won his senate seat after his opponent dropped out due to a sex scandal. Was rewarded the keynote speech at the democratic convention before he even won his senate election, because he was expected to be the democrats' only winner that election night, and was a "President in waiting" during his short term in the senate. He was always in the right place at the right time and everything was handed to him. He never accomplished a damn thing in his life. He is nothing more than a celebrity and no more qualified to be President than Lindsey Lohan.
ctviking,
If you really believe that President Obama "is completely useless and incompetent" then I feel sorry for you. It must be very difficult for you living in a world that you understand so little about.
I understand this world very well. Unlike others, I am not fooled by the "lovely" clothes his wife wears into thinking he is a good President. George W. Bush was a very bad President and Obama is even worse.
I may disagree with you about Obama, but the fact you're not just the normal partisan hack gives you some credibility.
Quote bt ctviking, "I am not fooled by the "lovely" clothes his wife wears into thinking he is a good President."
“Fear
. . . is forward. No one is afraid of yesterday.” Renata Adler
ctvik: I'd argue getting an Ivy League undergraduate degree, getting an Ivy League law degree, managing a successful presidential campaign, writing two bestselling books, etc., constitute "actually achieving something."
ds, it sure beats what you've done.
Actually not, in point of fact, but you don't know anything about my education, now do you?
8 terms......................What a joke on Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public
first
president to kill usama bin laden , in just 36 months on the job , compared to

First out and out lying President who has the media support of not showing his lies. First President who lied about,No Pork,No Lobbyist,Closing Gitmo,Cutting the deficit in Half,Transparency of his administration,Reducing our dependency on foreign oil,Keeping un-employment below 8%,no Tax dollars for abortions, giving illegals government health care, having shovel ready jobs, and having a good education, even a farmer knows all dogs have allegens.
republican, cut and paste much?
I try and read these posts looking for an original idea, not a rehash of something else.
And this has what to do with the article about Jay Inslee??
FO' MO' WITH B.O.!!! If you'ra a Red Neck, you can say he's WHITE. If you're Liberal, you can say he's BLACK. My choice is, he's HAPA! I think this man is the best possible choice for President of the United States since Al Gore was cheated out of his becoming our President.
As a 30 year resident of WA district 1 i can say that Jay was a fine example of his district and will make an excellent governor for the state of WA. I have also been a strong supporter of Mr. Mckenna as a moderate (R), sadly Rob's shift from a moderate to embracing the radical element of the Right wing in an effort to secure election funding for his gubernatorial efforts will fall short.
Really Rob? did you think spitting in the face of us moderate Dems who have kept your political career afloat from the days as a King county guy to state prominence would maintain our support for you as you embrace the well funded radical right? think again!
pacificdem,
Well, I'm in disctict 2, Rob McKenna hasn't changed position 1 in regards to anything. Now that he is running for Governor, he is attracting contributions from direct supporters of the GOP.
His political stances haven't changed, your rhetoric has, because your candidate Jay is farther left than Christine is.
Ps; Jay is also starting out 10 points down statewide to Rob, a republican, in WASHINGTON ???? (5 points down in King County, his home county)
PPSS; I almost forgot, thank you for your supporting Mr McKenna in previous elections.
Seems historically our state elects Dem for Administration and Rep for Attny Gen. Something about loyal opposition. We are mostly independents here in WA.
Seems a lot of them are running out as they realize their retirements are going to come up for question soon, and they might have to donate to their 401ks as the rest of us.If we stop all those cushy retirements we could get represenatives who would not be so intent on being in office for 20 years, and more attentive to what they are doing with our tax dollars.
After that long in Congress about the only bigger job in any State would be,,,,,,,Governor
Can't wait to see how many Republican Governors are replaced with Democrats this year
Going by independent polling it is going to be a phenomenol year for the Left
Wow. Leave it to Liberals to highlight their own inability to grasp reality.
The 2010 midterms were just the beginning of sweeping the Dem party into a well deserved extinction.
Yep, Bo, seems women don't want to be vaginally probed if going for an abortion or called a slut for taking contraception. Meanwhile the GOP holds forums on Women's Health and doesn't invite any women. Gotta love the GOP for chutzpah.
Jay gets it. The current WA Attny Gen doesn't.
Inslee was quite conservative when he was living in a conservative area......But he changed his stripes completely and moved to the ultra liberal left side of the state....He then tried to compete for that Most Liberal government official title....He is a phony....
J.A, How do you spell PHONY????????
M I T T R O M N E Y
or G I N G R I C H
or R Y A N
or S A N T O R U M
You two extreme leftwing nuts just have to get your name calling in...This article is about Inslee and that is what I commented on....I even voted for him once when he was a conservative...He talked conservative and voted conservative.....He, however did not get along with the radical dems in congress then and decided to move on from his common sense....just for his career. Apparently he had no convictions or honesty about suddenly being for all the stuff he campaigned against fefore....His vote is for sale and he doesnt care what his vote is for....He is just a phony....He pretty much disappeared as a congressman and was just a wall flower that wasnt known for anything....other than to be radically leftwing...
Washington be aware!!! If you elect a Republican Governor he will focus on Contraception, Abortion, Union Busting, Whether Women should have Sex, Tax Cuts for the top 1% etc. They have No ideas on Unemployment, Economy or Education!!!
Scared much Chuck? Party-owned to a tee.
They have no idea how we as citizens live! They are all filthy rich. No idea of what goes on here with all us po' folks on the ground level.
At least in WA state, either party gets elected, it's still a balance budget. It's our LAW.
The liberal state government has been testing that law....While the economy was growing at 10%, they were spending an additional 20% on forcasts they thought would never end.....That included free insurance for the children of illegals and numerous biofuel programs(all gone broke by now) and many new state employees and programs....Now they have to cut the basics...Like law enforcement and funding education(back to 1970s levels).....But, they just introduced gay marriage and they are pushing higher taxes and legalizing marijuana(all very progressive and obviously impressive to the media .......The gay marriage thing is the only thing in the news now....
Democrats in trouble never have Democrat pasted to their name until way down in the article - liberals in political turmoil over 0h blay mah policy failures and 0h blay mah scare.
Third word, second sentence. I swear, how can you LIE so easily?
For homework, name any government in the history of the world that has not taxed and spent.
Which political party in the past century has done the biggest borrow and spend damage, either directly or due to circumstances it has created?
Stormer so sad you don't have a clue, but do enjoy loud ignorance makes a fellow feel superior.
I wrote this guy asking about his views on term limits. He is against them in a big way and as noted my many here is the total career politician. He is a socialist through and through and thank God the country is loosing him in Congress but we here in Washington might have to deal with him as a govenor. All this and the state is broke thanks to one of his fellow democrats.
Am I on the wrong page or not smoking the right stuff?
You have always been smoking the wrong stuff...
sparr2cuss WHAT!
I know sometimes It looks like I type with my Dick Cheney too.
