Arizona governor, Obama in 'tense' exchange over book

Haraz N. Ghanbari / AP

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer points at President Barack Obama after he arrived at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, Wednesday. Brewer greeted Obama and what she got was a book critique.

 Updated at 10:35a.m. ET:

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and President Barack Obama engaged in an apparently tense exchange on an airport tarmac shortly after Air Force One touched down outside Phoenix on Wednesday.

The two leaders could be seen talking intently at the base of Air Force One's steps. Both could be seen smiling, but speaking at the same time.

Obama appeared to walk away from the Republican governor while they were still talking, according to a White House pool reporter. Brewer confirmed that by saying she didn't finish her sentence.

Asked moments later what the conversation was about, Brewer said: "He was a little disturbed about my book."

On a Phoenix radio talk show after their meeting, Brewer said Obama was "tense."

Brewer recently published a book, "Scorpions for Breakfast," something of a memoir of her years growing up. The book also defends her signing of Arizona's controversial law cracking down on illegal immigrants, which Obama opposes.

Obama was objecting to Brewer's description of a meeting he and Brewer had at the White House, where she described Obama as lecturing her. In an interview in November Brewer described two tense meetings. The first took place before his commencement address at Arizona State University. "He did blow me off at ASU," she said in the television interview in November.

She also described meeting the president at the White House in 2010 to talk about immigration. "I felt a little bit like I was being lectured to, and I was a little kid in a classroom, if you will, and he was this wise professor and I was this little kid, and this little kid knows what the problem is and I felt minimized to say the least."

President Obama and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer faced off in an apparently testy exchange on at an airport outside Phoenix. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.

In a statement after the meeting, Brewer didn't mention the airport conversation, and would only say that she discussed economic issues with Obama in a brief meeting.

"Don't be mistaken, I'm bullish on our nation's future," Brewer said in a statement issued later. "But I'm convinced the path the president has pursued is the wrong one. I hope he takes some of the lessons of Arizona back with him to Washington."

On the tarmac Wednesday, Brewer handed Obama an envelope with a handwritten invitation to return to Arizona to meet her for lunch and to join her for a visit to the border.

"I said to him, you know, I have always respected the office of the president and that the book is what the book is," she told reporters Wednesday. She said Obama complained that she described him as not treating her cordially.

"I felt a little bit threatened, if you will, and the attitutude that he had because I was there to welcome him," Brewer told reporters following the exchange.

A White House official said Brewer handed Obama a letter and said she was inviting him to meet with her. The official said Obama told her he would be glad to meet with her again. The official said Obama told her that in her book, she inaccurately described their last meeting, which the official described as a cordial discussion in the Oval Office. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation between the president and the governor.

NBC News, The Associated Press and msnbc.com staff contributed to this report.

Jan Brewer is a nutcase with a short fuse, anyway. If I was President Obama, I'd have walked away from her, too.

I think the photo says it all. She's wagging her finger and seems to be yelling, while he's calmly making his point in spite of her outburst.

@Den

Educate yourself before vomiting out teabagger rhetoric. Obama has put more border agents on the ground than any other president in the history of this country. We now have the lowest number of people crossing the border illegally in the history of this county. He has deported more illegal immigrants more than any other president! The only thing this gin soaked idiot Gov did was waste an incredible amount of the state's money by signing that idiotic and unconstitutional SB1070 - not to mention trashing AZ's economy as well. Idiot

Please pay Arizona a visit. Members of my Family sold property and moved North. Maybe you'd be interested in buying more property located at the far Southern area of Arizona. If you need an explanation, you live in a bubble. Don't be excited about the 20 acknowledgements. 19 are probably illegals. Been to Southern California lately...

It is disrespectful to point your finger in any conversation; apparently Brewer's parents not only didn't teach her not to point her finger when talking with others, but that you don't act with disrespect towards the President of the United States. And that goes double if you are your state's representative. Brewer was totally out of line here.

President Obama, please accept this Arizonan's apology for Brewer's despicable and totally unacceptable behavior today.

Yeah right! You know what the finger she should have shown Obozo? The food stamp president is only thinking how he can get re-elected to continue to run this country further into the ditch. A total loser with not leadership skill, worse president ever, Jimmy Carter is even rated higher. Of course the far left liberal nuts and the young college left wing students love him because they think he may come back to their university and teach them how to use a teleprompter. They really love the hope and change he has given them so far! Wait a few more years after you get that degree and see how much money you will be making with all the jobs he is going to provide. Well good luck on that one! You may have the MBA or even the PHD and can always get a job teaching at a ivy league far left university along side Bill Ayers or maybe get a Czar job like Van Jones (the communist). Good luck.

Not a Brewer fan by any means, but photo's are not truth tellers.

I know a bit about photography, and BOTH sides use pictures for their person.

I used to spend a lot of time on the road. When Bush and Gore were running against each other I happened to buy 2 newspapers. One in a conservative location another in a liberal.

Both had pictures of the same debate.

The conservative paper showed a picture of Bush looking strong and authoritative - high camera angle right shoulder forward leaning aggressively with his finger out making a point. Gore was shot with a low camera, under the chin looking up his nose with a somewhat confused look.

The liberal paper had Bush with his head somewhat twisted, square to the camera and a goofy look with his eyes just slightly beginning to close. Gore was in the traditional 3/4 shoulders turned looking straight at the camera with a slight smile.

Don't ever make a judgment based on a picture.

On the other hand she sure does have a pointy chin.

Toasty, I don't know about Jan Brewer, but I do know one thing, Obama signed a bill that lets the military lock up citizens indefinitely without due process. He wasn't alone though, the Democrats and Republicans passed that bill before he signed it. Whether you like or hate Obama, one thing is for sure, he set the stage for the next lunatic who makes it into office to be able to do as he pleases. Anyone who opposes, will have the military knocking on their door. Iran and North Korea looked at this action and laughed, they at least provide a kangaroo court. Toasty, what would George Washington say about that? Yep, he'd kick the whole lot to the curb and start over.

I live in Arizona - this is as third world as the USA gets. You can tell Arizona has decades of kick-backs and back room deals. AZ is the poster child of what years of Republican rule does to an area. Arizona is not as poor as many parts of the Southeast, and not nearly as old - but its public services are as poor as they can get. Just their roads alone have put millions if not billions into contractors pockets for sub par work....give any AZ city inspector (if they even have any codes) a bottle of Jack and that road that should be 8 inches thick - gets signed off with 2 inches of asphalt.

AZ turns to the Feds for everything, and what they don't fund, doesn't get addressed. We have the best Freeways and bridges in the country, but get off a Federal road and you are instantly transformed to tacky trashy run down cities. Where does our taxes go? Brewer cut every State program to the bone to reduce the budget - now we have millions with no home, no health care, no jobs, no hope. We sure don't invest in people - so where does our taxes go? Nowhere in America is the divide between rich and poor bigger than it is here - and those illegals she pretends to hate, are her buddies labor force. Name another Governor who has investments in private prisons? All of our homes are built by illegals - you think Jans contractor buddies ever get raided...think again.

Please explain how OBAMA put these people on food stamps. I guess one of his super pacs sent out a mass mailing trying to get people to sign up for the fantastic food stamp program.

MM, deporting illegals is one thing, keeping them from coming into the country in the first place is something else! Deporting them isn't really the problem, it's making the border secure enough so they don't enter illegally is the main problem. It's like waking up in the morning, then walking out to the kitchen, and finding two or three people you don't know setting at your table. Getting them out of your house is easy, it's how they found their way in is what needs to be addressed.

Its' amazing how many people can read whatever they want into a picture. Yes her finger is in the air. However, none of us posting on this story were there and nobody knows what the discussion was at the exact moment the picture was snapped. Its funny that nobody mentions the presidents right hand. It appears that his arm is outstretched towards the GOvenor and appears to be touching her on her side. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? Is she telling him to remove his hand from her side while pointing her finger at him??? Being the president does not mean that anybody else, regardless of status, has to agree with every single thing he says or does. The president often comes off as a know it all and is quite condescending towards pretty much anybody that doesn't bow down to him. Many posts saying this Govenor is only looking at profit from illegals going to jail. Maybe she just listens to what the majority of her constiuents are saying?? Nobody mentions the crime rates, the amount of government dollars spent on incarceraton, education, food stamps, housing $$$, medical care etc.. for illegal aliens in Arizona. Well, get all the facts about the situation before making judgement on this (as usual) incomplete article. And before anybody starts spewing names like racists etc.. at me, I'm a registered Dem. who at this point does not trust or believe in Obama or any of the candidates for the upcoming election. Good for the Governor for having the resolve to accurately describe the President. As for finger pointing....there are tons and tons of pics with the President with his finger up as he arrogantly lectures who ever is in the room. So I could care less she defended herself. A little of his own medicine can be a good thing.

As for the AZ Illegal problem. The US has turned it's back on AZ citizens and that's wrong. You can say the President has hired more agents, but where are they? Southern AZ is the most dangerous it ever has been, so whatever is being done IS NOT WORKING! Jan is doing her job, trying to protect the citizens of her state. Idiot

dkhhuey - perhaps you should educate yourself before vomiting stop representing mistruths as fact. Unfortunately, the Obama administration has NOT deported more illegal aliens than any other president.

Even with creative accounting by the current administration, the Bush administration deported over a 1/2 million more illegal aliens.

The AZ Governor is a cross between a witch and a whack job; she fits the description of both!

What does that say about the people who elected her?

AZ has both ends of the spectrum: from Gabby Giffords' character and integrity to Brewer's total insanity.

On another note...quite of few rethugs that need their head slapped a few times to get those brains working again. The truth must make Obama hurt. He has no clue what Arizona has to deal with when it comes to illegal immigration, and if he had a clue, he wouldn't be so testy--or acting like he's a know-it-all.

Note to know-it-alls: There'll always be someone that knows more/better than you do.

He is welcome to resign anytime he wants to. This elitist, progressive president thinks he can talk down to anyone because he thinks he is smarter than the "masses". Progressives believe that the bulk of the population is not smart enough to make correct decisions concerning life and so the "enlightened ones" must come along and guide them. so the feds look the other way when companies hire illegals, they are breaking the law, its the feds job to enforce the immigration laws. that is not happening, why?, when the border states ask the feds to enforce the laws. it does not happen. what do you do? wait on the feds? how many jobs would be available if the illegals were sent home? as long as companies hire them they will keep coming. do not give them any jobs they will stay home. if the feds enforced the laws that are currently on the books we would not have this problem. but they don't. cheap labor, so these guys that make 4.00 a day in mexico are hired here from 5.00 to ten dollars an hour. not enough for an american to live on very well but it is a kings ransom to the illegals. then they send it home where it goes much further. the companies that hire them are at fault, the feds who look the other way are just as bad.

Jan Brewer is doing her job. this has nothing to do with race. there are plenty of Hispanic american citizens who need jobs in arizona. she fights for them too.

i am watching obummer right now with the finger pointing, just like Al Gore all during his election campaign . Al would point the finger to make his point. did him no good.

all i can say if you do not live in a border state is come on down and see for your self. the number of people who have much to say and never been there don't truly understand the situation.

Let's see, Obama was previously invited to Arizona many times before to eyewitness the border situation for himself ..... and he refused. Then, Obama has Eric Holder "SUE" Arizona for passing a law to do what the federal government was failing to do in securing the border against illegal immigrants.

Then, there is the issue of Obama's apparent rudeness to Jan Brewer, which is apparently documented by others, in her book. Obama did not like it, it did not make him "look good". So, how does Obama handle this ? He does it again and reporters witness his rudeness to Governor Brewer.

Wasn't she elected to the highest office in the State of Arizona ??

Lkessler,

RE: your post #1.71

Lets take a look at the "truth" about President Obama and illegal immigration, shall we?

1.) President Obama has hired more border guards, and has more boader guards on our southern border with Mexico than any other president -- IN HISTORY!

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/may/10/barack-obama/obama-says-border-patrol-has-doubled-number-agents/ (From a CONSERVATIVE newspaper)

2.)President Obama has deported more illegal immigrants in his three years in office than George W. Bush deported in his two terms (8 years) in office!

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/12/obamas-record-high-deportations-draw-hispanic-scorn/

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/20/us-obama-immigration-idUSTRE78J05720110920

3.) Illegal immigration and illegals in our country is at a record low during the last two years under President Obama!

http://www.fairus.org/site/PageNavigator/facts.html (One of the BEST FACTUAL web sites on the problems and statistics on illegal immigration)

Lkessler, please note that the references cited are NOT liberal publications. They are well known and widely accepted, which deal in facts as available, to them from reliable sources. They are not emotional rantings claiming to be facts! You can reject them if you will, that is your perrogative. Have a GREAT day! "I felt a little bit threatened, if you will, and the attitude that he had because I was there to welcome him," Brewer told reporters following the exchange.

There is an old saying, 'If you are in pain then you've erred'. If you are so threatened then look into what threatens you and change your attitude regarding your perceived threat. Seldom have I been able to effect changes in this World by forcing the outside to change. When change comes from the inside then you have made a World of difference. Usually what threatens is fear. Fear of the unknown or fear of having done something wrong.

The thing many of you fail to realize is that Obama is NOT a king or a God. He is merely just another man placed in office for a temporary time time to do a job. He is no better than any other person and should abide by the laws of our land like everyone else.

He has failed to fulfill his duties and should have been fired long ago. If he insists to behave like a child and abuses his authority then he deserves to be treated like a child. We should all be thankful that this young lady and governor of Arizona has the ability to do what she believes is best for the people of the state she serves.

Obama feels he should be able to do and say whatever he feels without opposition. Personally I don't think I would have even met him at the airport after the incident at the White House. If he wanted to meet with me, it would be on my turf. He is only there to campaign for re-election on the taxpayers money anyway and will only tell more lies and false promises.

I look at this picture and am soooo glad this is not the Governor of SC, Nicki Haley, because had it been, I promise you her phone would be ringing. She is also a Republican and snooty. That said, my issue with this is that waving your finger in the face of any adult, much less POTUS whether you like him or not, just got you demoted to the cheap seats. I would not allow any other adult, regardless of title, to shake a finger in my face. It's childish and immature and you just lost any credibility with me. I don't blame the Presidnt for walking away. What an embarassment she is.

She also claimed that when she did meet with the President he lectured her like she was a child, or something along those lines. Guess what? Probably because you acted like a damn child, foot stomping, finger shaking, etc. If this governor has learned nothing in her career she should know that no matter what the party affiliation, you don't act like a child in this way or you have just shot yourself in the foot politically... she will get no more favors from anyone... the GOP wants Obama out, fine. I don't see anyone rallying to her defense.... She needs to grow a pair and stop acting like a 4-year-old... or else find a new career....

First of all, Obama lectures everybody. He believes he is always right. Nothing in the world is going to change that, and if he has been wrong he would never admit to that. He just throws others under the bus.

Jan has a situation in her state that the feds refuse to deal with. I would think that would make anybody furious.

Republicans, as the minority party for the first 2 years under Obama, were purposely left out of conversations because that is what the majority party always does. It is hell to be in the minority in Washington. I think Mitch McConnell only spoke with the president 1 time prior to the 2010 elections. That is sad, and the blame falls with the president. He was intent to be the divider from Day 1 and that includes dealing with governors from republican states.

Jan was left with few cards to get any attention on this matter. It must be painful. Nobody likes to be treated as if they don't exist. Her only option was to kiss up to this administration hoping to get some sort of attention of the border issue.

Even if Obama wins again, it still means that half the country isn't happy which is far too large to have any sort of respectable dialogue between the parties. First half the country doesn't vote at all because they hate both sides. Then those that vote are divided. It is unhealthy. The minority party should never be made to feel invisible.

Obama should have waited to talk about his problems with the book. Not bring it up during a welcome greeting. He lacts class. Governor Brewer was there to welcome him to Arizona, give him the letter inviting him to a meeting, and to go visit the border, and Obama turned it into an argument. Shame on him! Obama is nothing but an arrogant, pompous, ass, and is not qualified to be President.

This country is in dire need of a real businessman to fix things at the federal level. Obama is nowhere near that and has no clue on how to fix the economy. Any turnaround will be pure luck, not because of anything he has done. We need to get rid of the career politicians in Washington DC, as well as some of the lawyers, and replace them with men and women that have successful business experience. Mitt Romney is the only one with those qualities running for President.

For Obama to go to Arizona, and not see the problem at our southern border first hand, is deplorable. He is refusing to go. What is he afraid he will see there? Shame on him.

Many immigrants in AZ just don't give a hoot about anything, and just want amnesty. Y'all need to get real. Illegal immigration is a real problem, and Mr. Obama quite honestly has no idea what it takes to deal with it, when you're the governor of a border state.

Wish he had to deal with these kinds of issues--instead, his biggest worry is his next round of golf. That should make you all sad--because employment is still over 9% if you look at real figures--not deflated government figures.

      Rob,

      RE: your post #1.99

Your emotional Rob, NOT factual! I gave the references and you read only the parts you LIKED and discarded most of the references. Not really smart, right? The WHOLE TRUTH is in the references but, of course you "cherry pick". Obama did not award himself the Nobel Peace Prize. It was given to him by a committee of 5 people chosen by the Parliment of Norway. To refuse the award would be an insult to the people of Norway, perhaps you disagree since your not very respectful of anyone but YOURSELF. When you grow up you may change, but I doubt you will, some people never grow up! They live and make life miserable for those who are responsible. Have a GREAT selfish life!

Let me see. One, the problem with illegals since President Obama took office. I'm sure the problem didn't start then. Oh no, you mean that it was a problem before Obama became president? Then why didn't Savior George Bush do something about it? He needed illegals to take care of his ranch.

Jan Brewer felt "threatened" by President Obama? I've never seen a teddy bear threaten a grizzly bear! And there on the tarmac with all those people standing there-- Secret Service and the media. What would President Obama done? Oh yes-- "BOO!" Scare the byjesus out of the woman?

She showed her true self. And boy does she have a big mouth! Big enough to drive an 18-wheeler into.

This illegal problem goes back into the Bush years for God's sake, the issue lately has been drug related violence in border towns in Mexico more because the Mexican government is taking measures to go after some of these drug cartels and too the Mexican govt. is corrupt causing an almost war. Bush offered instant citizenship to how many illegals?

        #1.117 - Fri Jan 27, 2012 6:48 AM EST

The illegals problem goes back to before Reagan he gave some amnesty with the agreement from congress that the border be sealed. It never was and still isn't, the fence has been stopped by Odumbo and he sues AZ. for passing and enforcing almost the same law as the fed passed years ago but won't enforce.

        OMG= Obama Must Go

I've been to Nogales, Juarez, El Centro, Mexicali, Tijuana. and Laredo so I've seen the problem first hand. I've also been to British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and our Northern border seemed to have much tighter security.

The border needs to be sealed tight and no one comes or goes illegally any more PERIOD. Then deport all illegals from any country found in the U.S. Not all illegals are Mexican many are from Yemen, Guatamala, Columbia, Iran, Lebanon, Russia, etc.

Love Jan Brewer and Sheriff Joe KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Fight for America send the socialists packing in 2012 remember OMG= Obama Must Go I'd vote for my neighbors Yorkie over Odumbo.

dkhhuey - I realize it will be a week now before you can allow your fingers to get you in trouble again, but you asked for facts.

You berated a poster about calling out President Obama on the number of people on food stamps, claiming it was all "vomiting out teabagger rhetoric". Fact is that there are now 46 million Americans on Food Stamps, an increase of 45% from when he took office. Realizing that no good rant should be interrupted by facts, especially like these from the Government, but job loss is real also. After promising to "Save of create 3 to 5 million jobs" in his first term, DOL statistics show that jobs in the US went from 142,099,000 in 2009 to 140,760,00 in 2011, a net DECREASE of 1,339,000 jobs. Now you could, and probably will, argue that there could have been 5 million jobs lost had it not been for their programs (with NO supporting facts to back it up), but the fact is there IS a net DECREASE in jobs in the US.

No name calling, just the facts. Enjoy your week off.

The photograph of the president and the Arizona governess Shows her shaking a finger at the Pot Us,as she was greeting him as the official representative of Arizona.No-one heard the vocal exchange,so it can be slanted to suit any one's likes or dislikes, but the picture shows a lady, no ,female.admonishing The Pot US.I do not think that is an acceptable piece of behaviour for anyone who is meeting a visitor of any description.I am in favour of the enforcement of all of our laws, especially the immigration ones.To be fair, the worst decision that any one made was by the nicest President of all, who legalized all of the illegals that were in the country at that time. That made it impossible for anyone to truly solve this problem, but still, not good manners Madam Governor.

MJ: You mentally challenged? How does my comment support illegal aliens? I LIVE IN ARIZONA. I have to deal with the hordes of illegals every day. My state tax dollars are feeding, housing, schooling and providing medical care to these ungrateful, American hating freeloaders. I drive as much as 30 miles away to be able to shop somewhere that has not been trashed by illegals. There are stores and whole areas here where NO ONE speaks english. You can't use public facilities because of illegal gangs and drug dealers. You have to be bilingual to even apply for jobs.

What kind of twisted, fantasy world allows you to think my comment in any way displays sympathy for criminals?

shut yer yap - Undocumented immigrants - NOT "Illegals."

Lets extend these courtesies to others then:

Not "drug dealer" - Unlicensed pharmacist

Not "prostitute" - Unregistered recreation provider

Not "tax cheat" - Member of Obama Cabinet

I also long for the day when people are not referred to by adjectives, which is why I never hyphenate my nationality. I am not an "Irish-American" or "American-Scot" but simply an American. (And unlike so many hyphenated Americans, I have been to both countries) While I am very proud of my family heritage, I AM AN AMERICAN, first, foremost and always. And before you make some idiotic remark, yes my family immigrated here legally, waited in line both in the "old country" and Ellis Island. They did not sneak across the border (longer swim for them after all) and then demand special rules.

This elitist, progressive president thinks he can talk down to anyone because he thinks he is smarter than the "masses". Progressives believe that the bulk of the population is not smart enough to make correct decisions concerning life and so the "enlightened ones" must come along and guide them. His SOTU speech is a perfect example of an arrogant elitist spinning things the way they see it and thinking the American people are too dumb to understand.

That is so not true. Obama is respectful to everyone. Even if that were true, it would be better than the last president who, without question, is not smarter than the masses, but trying to force his beliefs on not just the US, but on foreign nations as well. What if all national leaders were as reckless as GWB?

Obama is pretty respectful compared to the blatant disrespect of FOX television Hannity, O'Reilly, Michael Savage show on radio, Limbaugh. The words coming out of their mouth is outrageous and insulting to me and I am not a Democrat. He will bring up issues on a campaign stump typical attacks, but the to the outright disrespect I have seen against Obama.

Paul - If you don't watch and just re-hash the left wing rhetoric, you can't win an argument. Hannity and O'Reilly are respectful and tolerant of their guests who are of the liberal persuasion. Else, why wouldthey come on in the first place, and why would they come back on? You can see Liberal guests as rebuttal speakers on Fix much more often than you would see a Conservative on MS-NBC. And, speaking of rude hosts, have you EVER watched the Maddow Show on MS-NBC/ how about the Olberman show? (So loony and rude it went to Current, one of the only cable "networks" with lower ratings than MS-NBC) Have you ever happened upon the Bill Maher hate fest on HBO? Have you ever listened to the Liberal station on Sirus? Wish to hear rude hosts, there you go.

I note that once the main comment is collapsed it ends the debate because once collapsed it cuts out the reply feature.

Now regarding the picture, notice how President Obama is looking down her blouse. I wonder if he gets turned on by women talking tough to him. If someone is shaking a finger in the face of a person who, like it or not, outranks that someone (and a Pres at least politically outranks a Gov), then it seems to me the finger-shaking person is the arrogant one. IMO, Obama outranks her intellectually as well. Maybe YellaHammer is confusing intellect with arrogance?

The assumption that she is disrespecting the President by seeming to point her finger at him, could just as easily be her making a point. If you look closely you can see by the shadow of the hand and where the sun is that her hand is actually points somewhere over his shoulder. You can tell by the turn of her head that she is looking off to his left (you can not see her complete nose), while her arm is bend at the elbow points straight up.

Now regarding who is being disrespectful, this picture was taken and chosen by out of all the photos they took by the media (liberal or not), as was the article title. Shows they are just trying to stirup trouble.

I looked closely. The shadow of her finger is in the middle of his chest. Were his head not angled to his right, her finger would be in his face towards the left side. Maybe he angled his head to avoid her finger? And yeah, her finger points straight up -- to his face if his head wasn't angled. Of course it points straight up -- he's taller than she is.

Now regarding who is being disrespectful, this picture was taken and chosen by out of all the photos they took by the media (liberal or not), as was the article title. Shows they are just trying to stirup trouble.

Yeah, well, I'm not addressing any issues with the media, so I really don't care what they're doing. They do what they do -- try to get people to pay attention to their story, and pictures like this get that attention. It's part of the way they market.

I didn't call her names, and you're assuming based on no facts in evidence from my post that I dislike her just because she's a conservative Republican. Now regarding you attempt to twist the shame statement away from those doing the name calling and trying to make it about having to support women regardless of their ability, policies, qualifications or viewpoints. I did not make that arguement, my statement was on the disrespect they were showing with their nasty infamitory name calling of a "fellow women". Regardless of anyones politics their comments were shameful.

Just for some background I have some liberal leanings, I use to go door to door collecting for greenpeace and it was well known among liberial groups that we could get better fundraising results going to conservative neighborhoods over liberial ones because the liberials seemed to think that they didn't need to donate because they supported liberial causes with their words. This same thought process seems be prevalent with liberials attacting others who disagree with them, being "holier than thou". This nasty liberal name calling makes me glade to be on the other side on these other issues.

If name calling is shameful (and I don't like the name calling that is done on either side), then it is shameful regardless of gender. I'm not twisting any shame statement away from those doing the name calling. I'm calling you out for the clear implication. "Fellow women" doesn't apply if In the YellaHammer thread that you're posting to, you're the one who first mentions gender, and you said that people are being disrespectful of "fellow women." Let's not be disingenous here -- why mention "fellow women" at all? Gender has nothing to do with it. Or, at least it didn't until you brought it up.

BTW,for the record, in the thread that YelllaHammer started -- the very thread you're posting to -- the name calling was started by someone who doesn't seem to like the President, calling him an "arrogant bastard." Yet you're concerned with "This nasty liberal name calling." YellaHammer doesn't seem too liberal to me. The logical conclusion is that you think it's only nasty or disrespectful to if it's done by a liberal. Interesting. . . makes me wonder why you're not calling for a halt to name calling on both sides but simply calling out those who are not Brewer fans. And people wonder why the term "hypocrite" gets thrown around so often. Go figure.

Brewer couldn't wait to talk about her book and it appears she found an opportunity to make it an issue. It really takes a party hardliner not to see the pointed finger and open mouth of Brewer in this picture as anything other than disrespectful. You can strongly disagree with someone, but this is not the way a responsible adult behaves. Conservatives have called the president everything but a decent man and then try to paint themselves as victims of some liberal plot. If Jesus were traveling around America now, these same pious folk would be calling him a socialist. That whole "sell everything you own and give it to the poor" thing.

Though I realize Republicans/"conservvatives"/reactionaries/far-right lunatic fringers hate facts which refute their racism, here are some facts anyway:

There are soldiers serving in Afghanistan whose families are on foodstamps. Are all those soldiers black too?>

There are people who work for a living who are also eligible for and recipients of food stamps.

The vast majority of welfare and food stamp recipients are W-H-I-T-E.

But racist suckers for race-baiting will reject the facts in favor of their unfounded and immoral hate.

It appears we live in an age of lack of respect for anything but indiviual opinion, evidenced from the posts in the past 48 hours. I thank God I was raised to be more self respecting and thus respect the opinions that differ from mine. All that matters is that we care about one another. Somehow we have replaced that with intense hatred for one another just because we disagree. This is not the Unitede States of America I grew up in. My teachers and Professors taught us that it was ok to disagree and still be friends. Why are we in a state of incivility and loathing in this Country? Most of you bloggers seem to air the most ugly parts of yourselves without regard for who reads your thoughts. Do any of you realize that you are your thoughts? Displaying the most disgusting and vile spew about a leader displays a lack of respect for the office in which they hold. There are local political action committees in which to become active if want to begin the process of civilized appraches to remove someone from an elected seat...unless you are too cowardly. How do you think voter apathy grew so strong and allowed the super PACs to gain traction? WHy do you think our First Amendment Rights are at risk of being dissolved? Do any of you think with your entire brain?

Once, When President George Washington went to New Jersey, the Governor of that state demanded the President come and pay him a visit. President Washington instead demanded the Governor come and honor him. The Governor backed down and was voted out of office later on.

What this Person did to President Obama was totally disrespectable. In another day and age, the head of the Republican Party would instantly be apologizing for this nut and then the Republican Party would had booted Governor Brewer out of the party if she did not apologize.

Unfortunately the tea baggers and the Family Rights movement has seized control of the Republican't party and I do not expect anything respectable to come from their side to force this moron of a Nut of a Governor to apologize to the President of the United States.

Is it no wonder that people are fleeing the Family Rights Movement and Fundamentalist Reconstructionist Dominionist Church by the droves? Is it no wonder that the Republican't Party has only a 5% approval rating among citizens of the USA?

                            And thats my Opinion.

Today the state has a surplus! Thanks to conservative politicians that we elected! So, I guess that means you are a liberal idiot, and therefore don't know your ass from a hole in the ground.

It's quite apparent this woman (idiot or not) though as she stated "respects the office of the Presidency" she does not respect the man elected to that office as the President. We all know why that is, own it or not. This man has never truly been respected. It's clear across the board, the media, the political machine, the American people in general, other countries etc. From day one, he has been referred to, called by, or addressed by his last name "Obama."Not Mr., not Sir, and most notably, certainly not "President". We all know why that is. He's only "tolerated" because he has the title of President, but he has never had the "respect" that goes along with that honor and I'm sure for the most part, he never will. There's no way any form of disrespect (especially in public) to the President of the United States should have been tolerated and/or accepted, but we all know why that is. Many have forgotten that it was the previous (dim witted puppet) president who screwed the country over helping himself and his friends get richer and richer, and that unfortunately the domino effect of that damage kept right on falling out of control because of the momentum that even with a new president at the helm trying to get the people to become a people of one, working together as one, things just aren't working well at all. There's no way the "powers that be" on the hill would ever let anything work out well, or smoothly for the American People. They would rather see the country continue to go to the depths of hell and it's people suffer, so they can say it's all the current president's doing. See what happened when a Black man got in control of the country. The whole big mess this country is in, is solely on the shoulder's of the one who promised a way out and couldn't deliver. But they'll never admit that they never tried to help him deliver, That no matter what path is chosen, it's going to be blocked. No matter what is suggested, or planned or anything that might give a glimmer of hope, they'll never let it happen. They'll all be just fine. Practically none of what they've allowed or caused to happen on the negative, will affect them at all. They grease each other's palms and have got each other's backs. Meanwhile the only person who's trying to have the American people's back is being treated the way most or many people of color have always been treated in general. Betcha she would not have gotten in the President's wife's face like that, pointing her finger!! Betcha That !!.......And We All Know Why That Is !!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of (I must presume racist) people left in America who are very upset that a black Democrat is the leader of the free world, and have extreme difficulty dealing with their emotions that fact provokes in them; so much anger, hatred, "poutrage" displayed for no apparent or discernible reason other than the fact that the President of the United States is a Democrat and bi-racial.

Now, all of you complainers of the President can twist, spin, justify, explain and try to make your excuses, but the thing that is apparent is that you either: 1. ARE racist and are having difficulty dealing with a bi-racial Head-Of-State; or 2. Are so partisan that having a Democratic President elicits uncontrollable rage in you; or 3. Are foolishly led by the ads, hype, and sales pitches, jumping on a bandwagon without understanding issues. Sorry, but that is the way it seems from the posts on this vine.

Reality is that our President IS making great strides and progress in addressing the nation's problems, AND that he has been met with obstruction and roadblocks from Congress, 1%ers, and obstinate partisan hacks continuously. That is truth. If in doubt, review events of the past year (without attempting to re-write history or explain it away - take the facts at face value without justification and you will see my statement is true.)

Personally, I believe this is brought on by the President's political enemies - partisans who feed the beast and continue the rhetoric and instigate to influence voters for their own personal gain; buying influence with the wealth that they wish to maintain only for themselves, ignoring the rest of America's citizens. That is my opinion - the first statments are FACT.

Keep telling yourself that and you just might believe it yourself.

your examples number 1, 2, and 3 are all more applicable to yourself and what you are saying. Because I do not support the current president, that makes me either, racist, enraged, or foolishly led ?

You, along with most supporters are perfect examples of your #3. Foolishly led by false ads, hype, and sales pitches, - oh, and "jumping on the bandwagon without understanding issues", you are exactly right ! I could not have said it better myself.

Isn't it ironic that you, along with all the supporters are so negative, lashing out at anybody who doesn't go right along with your way of thinking. Anytime that you do not get your way, much like the president, blame it on the republicans and everyone else. "It's not my fault it's yours". Grow up and buck up.

                            The biggest different between our current leader and leaders of the past;

He blames all the problems on everyone else and doesn't own up to anything or take responsibility. He keeps throwing things out there and hoping that people will grab on to it. He is not leading, he is selling, period (and not doing a good job at that either).

Sure you did, RC. On September 9, 2009, the boorish, half-wit Senator from South Carolina, Joe Wilson, called Obama a liar on national TV after Obama said that illegal immigrants would not receive health care benefits from the new healthcare reform act. But I think the photo amply demonstrates who was forcing who to listen; her lecturing finger tells the whole story.

Brewer is to Arizona what Perry is to Texas--an dogmatic imbecile voted into office by other dogmatic imbeciles who pretends to be otherwise. Why are there so many morons in the Republican Party?

Isn't this the governor whose racist anti-immigrant law was found unconstitutional by a Federal court? And the one who preferred letting people die than provide them needed healthare? And doubtless claims to be a Christian?

Saying/writing things and poking a finger at the President in public are entirely different things. Whether I agree with the policies or not, I respect the President who was elected by the Constitutional process.

Governor, you are not advancing your ideas by waving a finger at the President.

(Just for the record, I would prefer that someone else win the next Presidential election. But it is not proper or useful for anyone to openly bicker face-to-face with him while pointing a finger at his chest - very inflammatory body language, no self control.) The top elected official of a State should have self-control. You would never see Mitch Daniels display such behavior.

I am not a Republican, but both my Parents are - are you calling them morons just because they believe in some philosophies that disagree with yours (and some of mine)

Blanket comments smack of intolerance and facism. And both the President and the Governor shamed their offices today. And badmouthing does not cancel someone else's badmouthing - it merely doubles it.

I also remember some of the disparging comments made about the former President. Just because someone disagrees with you does not make them automatic morons. Let's stop the hate - and not behave like Euthyphro.....

Some folks, I myself am guilty, talk with their hands. A single snap shot in time does not tell the story of the situation. Much like the picture that conservatives like to pass around of Obama without his hand over his heart.

@T.R. Hendricks -- Very well spoken... written. The interesting thing in all of this is the changing social and political landscape of American beliefs and views. While some people are still stuck to the left or the right with respect to their political views and affiliations, middle of the road politics is what comprises most of the people (hence the growth in independents --- fiscally conservative and socially liberal). Yet the President and his political monkeys in Congress, the Senate and House, are oblivious to this and therefore continue to pursue whatever special interests line their pockets and campaigns.

It's all in the interpretation. I didn't see Governor Brewer as the ass. I respect the office of the President, but the POTUS has not, to this point, earned my respect. So many comments on here are verbally abusive. When someone resorts to name calling, it usually means that person has a small command of the English language.

Every time I read the vitriol towards the President, I remember when "W" was in office how we were constantly told that we had to respect the office if not the man. How ironic that the same people saying that back then are the ones showing disrespect for the American Presidency now. They obviously have no shame, and they certainly should. They dug the ditch that "W" drove the economy into by electing that incompetent shrub in the first place.

Yes. respect has to be earned But when you have put yourself before the American people and won a fair election and are sworn in as President of the United States. Not President of the Democrats or Republicans but President of the United States of America you are in the most respected position in the whole world. To say anything else is a disrespect to over two hundred years of this country's elections. Are you saying that you think so little of this country and the free choice of its citizens that you don't think that OUR president is worthy of respect? What kind of American are you. You lost the election now grow some balls and respect your elected leaders.

By disrespecting the commander in chief you are disrespecting every man and woman in uniform. Come back with whatever pathetic spin you want to put on it. But that's the way it's been for over 200 years. That's the way it is now, you miserable excuse for an American. Do you only believe in democracy when you win? Shame on you!

Is that all you can do ? Call people who do not agree with you vile names ? That is not a discussion worthy of people who have the luxury of free speech. Try to think critically, do not regress to your playground language. Also, you might try to understand the difference between IMMIGRATION and ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. There is a difference ! The Governeur is against illegal immigration, for one thing, because it is ILLEGAL and she is sworn to uphold the laws of the land. Just because Obama ignores these laws does not mean that they do not exist. Not too hard to figure out.

As noted most people do respect the office but have a problem with the person in it.

Most of us gave Obama a free pass on respect when he got the office, myself included. The national debt has increased by 50% in 3 years, we have been in one of the worst economic situations since the 30's and he can't get anything done with Congress.

I personally am in the worst financial shape EVER. A friend of mine finally got a job after 2 1/2 years out. His pay is half of what he worked his way up to by working hard and paying his dues in the same position. He is a hard working honest person that would do anything he could to help his company and fellow employees. There are a lot of people just like him out there.

Obama bragged about being able to bring jobs back to the US. Part of that has to be that people in the US have a LOWER incomes while people in Chine are getting a higher income. And of coarse he wants to start a new Government Agency to oversee actions of Foreign Countries, like that will do any good. This is just a sampling of why people do not respect the man. Respect is given at the start, keeping it is earned. I keep trying to catch him doing something to earn that respect back and it just doesn't happen.

You'd know the name if it actually happenedd.

No, I don't remember which Senator it was who said that Clinton was such a talented liar because it was a long time ago.

But rest assured, it did happen. Even if you don't like the message, surely you know it's true. "I did not have sex with that woman." "It depends upon the meaning of 'is'." I'm right, you're wrong. If you want to deny reality, I'm pretty sure that I can find a quote going back to the 90s. After all, it was a famous one known to millions.

I was in the military though not by choice. We were always told/ordered to salute the uniform/appointment, not the person.Do those who consider it O.K. to disrespect the President , not understand that this is normal behaviour?

I'm not sure that she disrespected the office. I think she doesn't like Obama and she is not alone. I do think that she should have kept it private and told him what ever she wanted off camera, but you have to know that she was so angry she wanted to tell him exactly what she felt and just forgot to wait.

I would like to tell him a few things too, but "We the People" don't have any opportunity to see him because no one in the Presidential seat is safe any more. What a pitty. No one should fear for their life just because they hold office.

Darrell, I highly doubt you could even give an accurate, rational explanation of what socialism is or why its supposedly so bad, or how (if at all) your impression of what socialism is differs from the bulk of Christ's teachings about actively taking care of others, giving freely to others in need and healing and helping people in difficult circumstances.

But you're probably too lazy and too afraid of what you'll find out if you actually took the time to LEARN something. As the line goes in 'The Princess Bride', "I do not think it means what you think it means."

Obama is NOT THE GREAT ORATOR he thinks he is. The President gives Boring Speeches over and over and his speeches are lectures, (like he is some Great Teacher?. I bet Obama waves his finger at his kids, too when he is trying to make a point. Angry Black President or Angry White Governor?

Actually, Sister Anita, you're wrong about that...Clinton was on the Tonight Show and Saturday Night Live, and other presidents have been on television shows...
Your bias is clear here, so spare the rest of us your irrational hatred

The DOMA is unconstitutional, you cannot legislate discrimination...and immigration laws are the purview of the federal government in order to create a standard for managing immigration at the national level, rather than having a patchwork of immigration laws...personally, I agree the time is past to do away with the 'anchor' clause...but the reality is that Obama has done more to shut down illegal immigration than the past 4 presidents, 3 of which were Republican...and he's done it less expensively than a flashy raid and shipping 'em back to wherever...

Before you start spouting about the immigration 'problem' you need to understand what's behind that legislation...namely for-profit prisons as a business model...the groups who wrote that legislation and helped fund its passage are in the private prison industry...
                                        NPR investigative article

Now, I realize logic is probably not something you're used to applying to a problem, preferring instead to be told how to think...but let's look at it this way...a 'for profit' prison is a business, and if you understand anything about economics, a business is in business to make money, correct? So 'for profit' prisons AREN'T invested in shrinking their populations, and in paroling or rehabilitating prisoners...they lose money when their population shrinks...their business model is such that they WANT more prisoners, because they make more money that way...and in turn you, the taxpayer, ends up spending MORE after the initial savings...

Honey, you really ought to try reading and, as your (undoubted idol) Rush says: follow the money...

Christ's teachings were, as you said, GIVING FREELY. Socialism, on the other hand, is TAKING FORCEFULLY through taxes. There is a heaven and hell's worth of difference there.

The Bible teaches us to give to the government what is due to the government. It also teaches us to submit to governmental authority. Apparently you do not wish to do either, which is in violation of biblical mandates. Apparently, it is because you object to needy people getting health care, food, and other life-sustaining assistance when they need help. Not very Christian of you, to say the least.

Why are you lecturing Anita for not reading when she left you citations to examine her claims and ideas? Its very easy to dismiss somebody as stupid like you prefer, but in honesty your selected name applies to yourself much more than her. To claims that the bible says to submit to authority: Yes it does, but it means a Christian, God-serving government. Not this socialist trash we are heading towards. You liberals dont understand what socialism does to a country. China is adopting more and more free market principles and they are passing the United States up. We are moving away from the free market and it is showing in our declining economy. Step back and look at the big picture.

Lynda, I most certainly have read the bible and the line you are quoting does not mean blindly do whatever a government says to do. If the government told you to go to the grand canyon and jump off would you do it??? The bible is written by men not god. Men and women read into the bible what they want it to say when it's convient for them. Like in your case.

It's interesting that Jesus Christ was able to perform his ministry quite well under a corrupt religious institution and a nasty Roman rule, much worse than an Obama Presidency. Some how we never in any record have him showing disrespect for any of them, YOU SEE, the Kingdom of God goes on regardless of who is in power, it transcends all that meaningless political crap, those political powers are just pawns in a greater purpose so ole Jim can get his FOX right-wing panties in a twist, the Kingdom of God keep going in the greater scheme of life, you either get on board with God's ultimate destiny for each of us, or stress out over Obama, Romney, Gingrich or whoever the hell it is. Why don't we try 1 Timothy 2:1-5 first and let God move the forces as God wills and QUIT WITH THE DISRESPECT.

Cause that's all you Republicans know right? Who can win a fight? Not who has the best idea? Who comports themselves with honor and respect? Not who actually respects the office and people they serve?

Republicans have become anathema to their own traditional ideas. They have reduced themselves to a party of poorly educated simplistic idiots that no longer understand the concepts of honor, nuance, and service. How I yearn for more Buckley/Goldwater conservatives that had brains and honor.

Disgusted... you have trolled this site long enough and all you EVER spout off about is Obama's use of a tele-prompter. Are you so ignorant as not to know that teleprompters have been used by Presidents for over 50 years? And if they didn't use a teleprompter, they had "hand written" speeches they followed. And you know what, even WITH a handwritten speech or teleprompter, the biggest idiot of all still couldn't spit it out in English... that would be George W. Bush. He obviously couldn't even read of didn't understand the "big" words to read them and use them. President Obama is a highly intelligent president. Do you think you could talk for an hour and get your whole message across without the "cheat" sheet? It comes in some way, shape, fashion, or form. I don't mind if you don't like Obama... that's your right... I just get really, really sick of your same old, same old comment all the time about the tele-prompter. Obviously that bothers you more than anyone else!!!

Read history and the memoirs of Washington. He complained constantly how both he and his office were under constant attack by his opponents. The only advantage today is that we hear and see everything and know immediately what the problems are and that the president has been seat warming the white house chair for three years.

Obummer's wife upstaged him by declaring in a news conference that Obummer's mother was definitely single when he was born! If the wife of the President of the United States doesn't respect the office of the president and her husband the president of the united states then why should anyone else.

Remember she stated that before Obama was elected she was not proud of this country.

I suppose you guys never stopped to think there may be more people on food stamps because YOUR past president caused (or mostly caused) the biggest recession in decades.. biggest unemployment era, etc. Doesnt' take a brain surgeon to see lack of jobs/homes=need for food stamps. Please explain how OBAMA put these people on food stamps. I guess one of his super pacs sent out a mass mailing trying to get people to sign up for the fantastic food stamp program.

chedar888 Has the cheese been left too long outside? Name the three reasons that bin Laden caused the wars and the 9/11 attacks:

                                                1) Kill Americans

                                                2) America supports Israel

                                                3) America put an embargo on Iraq.

Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. It used poison gas on the Kurds in northern Iraq, on its Muslim population in the south and against the Iranians. England stopped a shipment of nuclear triggers which are used for nuclear bombs from being shipped to Iraq in 1991. In 1981 Israel bombed the nuclear site in Iraq. Where did the nuclear material that Iraq had in 1991 go to? Where did the poison gas factories and poison gas storage depots go to?

Facts and questions you didn't know and can't answer.

Now exactly after 9/11 what would you have done? Stick one thumb in your mouth and the other?????

Cheddar Obummer was not a constitutional lawyer, he did research in the small law firm. He assisted during his four years there in 30 civil rights cases. Either tell the truth or research the truth but don't make up unfounded stories, you have no basis for.

When Obummer comes clean and reveals his high school, college and law school transcripts and who paid for all that and who pull strings to get him in Columbia and Harvard and who paid his expenses, then I might have a bit of respect.

If the meeting between Brewer and Obama was private, as the last paragraph of the article makes plain, then why do we care that an anonymous administration source says it was cordial? Brewer says it wasn't, and it's clear that Mr. Obama isn't very happy with her, and hasn't been. Which portrayal of the meeting seems most accurate then?

I'm not sure why Obama's leftist sycophants here can't use logic. Maybe they have none. Or maybe this is a religious experience for them. Whatever it is, it's pretty lame.

                                                Hi Space Captain,

I'm not sure what sickness you think Jan Brewer represents. Is it the sickness of advocating for her state? Maybe it's the sickness of telling a politician something difficult to hear? Despite what I think about your intellectual prowess, you must've meant something by your painfully dumb comment. So, what was it?

                                                Hi Sister Anita,

While I agree that Mr. Obama is an epic failure in nearly every respect, but particularly in two areas--constitutionalism and economics--he isn't the only president that has been on TV. I don't know why you think Leno is so bad, but since I seldom watch him maybe you've seen what I've missed. Anyhow, President Nixon was on Laugh In around 69 or 70. And that show was VERY racy, particularly given the era in which it aired.

My point, in any event, is that we should care more about Obama's policy failures than his cultural excesses. One will have a lasting negative effect on us all, the other will be corrected as soon as the people of the USA want something else from the president.

                                                Sister Anita,

Frankly, I'm usually much more discreet and diplomatic, but in your case, I don't see how that can be done.

You are misinformed, you are ignorant, you spew already-discredited lies, you are a bigot, and you are displaying every example of what is wrong in this country.

However, please feel free to continue to post your vitriolic diatribe, so that folks can see just how batsh*t crazy your teabag-kind really are.

You are doing more to help President Obama win re-election than you could possibly realize. For that, thanks.

"When Obummer comes clean and reveals his high school, college and law school transcripts and who paid for all that and who pull strings to get him in Columbia and Harvard and who paid his expenses, then I might have a bit of respect."

Since when has a President ever been obliged to give you that information? The fact you see that as a pre-condition for the President fo the United States earning your respect (as if that's a big deal to anyone) boggles my mind. Never have I seen such baseless and frankly traitorous contempt for a President.

This Arizona governor has put Arizona on a dangerous path. I have no idea what she has accomplished. I haven't heard anything other than divisive politics from her.

I am very glad if Obama indeed walked away from her.

I try to read the collapsed comments and what gets them that way is a mystery to me. Here, it seems, the criteria to begin with was a dislike for Obama. In a polarized political atmosphere like what we see today we need to see what others think and rebut it with fact and common sense, not stifle it. To paraphrase a quote I've always liked, "You have not converted a man because you collapsed his post"

From where I stand the Democrats are following the political equivalent of Justin Beber. The Republicans cannot find anyone to follow and, so, flail about in search of the hero they are sure will rise out of the political cess pit and rescue them. Folks, if we can't do better than this we are really doomed.

Rich, how about the sickness of greed, for starters. Arizona's shrill, stupid harpy wanted to profit from jailing illegals instead of deporting them. She had a personal interest in increasing number of inmates in the private prison system that charges the state for the incarceration and care of each inmate. Since that didn't work out for her exactly as planned, her next money-making scheme is to write a book that portrays her as the tea-party heroine, standing up to the evil and foreign Obama. What a predictable tw@t.

                                                Sister Anita,

Did you ever notice how those who spew the most idiotic hate-filled posts are the first ones to accuse others of doing the same?

Here's another quick hint...you could help your credibility (only slightly, I'm afraid) if everything you posted wasn't backed up by references to the uber-right-wing and often discredited Frugal Cafe Blog, the views of which are even extreme for most conservatives. Obviously, that's all you read, so that explains your ignorance and bigotry.

But hey, like I said, keep it up. Your teabagger nonsense scares the bejeezuz out of the center and the independents. You're helping the President with every post.

                                                Pedestrian:

Gov. Brewer takes her job seriously. She is supposed to protect the Arizona citizens wants. Just doing her job--

Greed---???? No it's called a difference of opinion re: Obama vs. Brewer. How does Greed come into the picture. Ask any Arizonian what they think. Many thousands of innocent people have been killed either crossing the border from Mexico, or on the border from Drug Cartels.

Remember Border Officer Perry, the person who was there to Protect the Border. Does he count. What about his family? An innocent person doing his job. He was killed because of Eric Holder's Fast and Furious Plan---guns going to the Mexican criminals. Who knew this would happen?

It's a rotten shame, that everyone wants to protect this Government re: Illegal Immigration.

This is the difference, as I see it, between conservatism and liberalism in America:

Liberalism is what we see in the picture of Conservative Gov. Brewer finger-wagging at the President of the United States of America, and the Liberal President keeping his cool.

I wonder how Conservatives would react if the President of the United States were a small, blonde Conservative female confronted by a finger-wagging large black Liberal Governor who gets in her face and blocks her path. Things would turn out just exactly the same way I'm sure.

                                                So, Anita

Is the idea that if you post the exact same vitriol enough times that it will become true? It seems to me that's a common Republican trick. Tell a lie enough times that it gets repeated and then support the lie by quoting the people quoting you.

Why do you you care if Obama's daughters went with him to Africa? How much do they weigh? how much fuel was that? What difference does it make what they were called on the manifest? Why is any of it relevant? If I agreed with your lies, I'd still tell you to stop talking about this because it makes it look like you're seizing on anything that you can (which you are). If he didn't take them you'd be talking about what an awful father he was.

You're so full of hatred you can't see that having a ridiculously long list of absurd charges just dilutes any legitimate criticisms you might have, if you had any.

Hey Anita, I'm no Holder fan, but Obama couldn't politicize the DOJ more than Bush if he set out to do it. So soon you forget that Bush cronies were asking illegal political affiliations when hiring EVERYBODY. Then there were the firings of prosecutors who wouldn't prosecute politically trumped up cases.

Maybe you should let the blood of Bush's DOJ dry a little more before you use superlatives.

I just can not figure out why people think Brewer is disrespecting obama when infact it's obama that disrespects us by not enforcing our federal laws and then disrespects Brewer, by complaining about her and taking her state to court, when she doe's enforce the laws.

Then I read where she's a racist because she wants the laws upheld. How is enforcing laws racist? Is it because the people breaking them aren't white? Or is it because Brewer is white. We all know that being here illegally doesn't mean they can't vote. With all the loopholes they can. That's what obama is wanting, the hispanic vote whether it's by a legal immigrant or not. He wants it.

What's with all the collapsed posts?

To Rich, Hawaii, and anyone else who questions just what sickness I was referring to that Brewer represents............I can tell you quickly. It is the sickness/evil that plays upon fears of the society to create a smokescreen while they push through legislation that makes them and their buddies rich. And don't tell me this witch was not involved in the "private prison" industry that will make fortunes off taxpayer money by being able to house illegals. The fires of hatred were fanned, the smoke was created, and the laws were passed. Now you guys are going to have to pay for it. Sick? Evil? You choose.

It is interesting how much of this comment section is getting collapsed by the community, which is strange because most of comments are making points or does not make sense with the other side's being collapsed. I note that once the main comment is collapsed it ends the debate because once collapsed it cuts out the reply feature.

Now regarding the picture, notice how President Obama is looking down her blouse. I wonder if he gets turned on by women talking tough to him. Just goes to show you all how you can read stuff into any photo. While the comment that he was cordial, is shown for what it was by his walking away while she was still talking.

The way the shadows in the picture fall, it is impossible to determine in where his gaze is directed because he's squinting into sunlight.

Of course in your mind you probably think that I'm some kind of socialist commie - you're third grade education and years of letting the GOP and more recently the Tea Party do your thinking for you will give you a lot of false impressions about your fellow Americans. I'd point you to an encyclopedia so you can find out the true meaning of the word LIBERAL, but you'd have to be interested in educating yourself first.

AND when we do decide to deal with the border issues, Obama runs interference for the illegals!

Just as the assumption that she is disrespecting the President by seeming to point her finger at him, could just as easily be her making a point. If you look closely you can see by the shadow of the hand and where the sun is that her hand is actually points somewhere over his shoulder. You can tell by the turn of her head that she is looking off to his left (you can not see her complete nose), while her arm is bend at the elbow points straight up.

Remember when Mr. Obama, at a previous SOTU speech, singled out the Citizens United case in order to bash the USSC. Yeah, I do. It was bad form. And yet liberals were defending Mr. Obama's lack of class, claiming he was right to, figuratively, get in their faces. You leftists speak about civility as if you honestly believe it. Too bad your actions do not match your rhetoric.

I do however agree, that most of the collapsed comments shouldn't be....people are allowed to have an opinion no matter how distasteful it may be for others. As long as it's not foul or resorting to name-calling or other inflammatory behavior, why not let them have their say? If they want to act like trailertrash cowards, (ALL of whom I notice are sitting in front of their computers and not out defending the way of life they feel entitled to in this country), then let 'em...we can't get rid of them any more than we can the aliens (who, incidently, owned all of Arizona until fairly recently in US history....ditto Southern California)

This comment is addressed to everyone making remarks like Sonata's. Another poster called the Governor a twat!!! How disrespectful is that directed at any woman, any time, any where????????

During my career as a manager I was trained by HR to calmly listen to employee outbursts and fits. Any negative, contonfrontational response is considered intentional escilation on the part of management and causes more problems. Brewer isn't a professional. Obama is.

I would not hire her to be a school bus driver, a waitress or a governor.

In radicalism the primary focus is to provoke police, people, and politicians into a seemingly wrong action while looking calm and collective.

If Newt wins in November, maybe he'll get her a job as a janitor.

The problem with politicians is that nobody competent hires them. The voters do it all. Then again, politicians are supposed to represent the majority of their constituency, so monkey see, monkey do.

Jan Brewer is a disagreeable looking woman. One of the few public women i've seen who could accomodate a commode by placing either her face or ass down on it and the commode wouldn't ever know the difference. I hope the woman has a brain gentle enough to forgive her face. Collaspe! Yeah!, I know. I know.

You know, I want to tell the people of Arizona, I stand up and applaud your Governor for standing up to obammy! I wish more people had the guts to. HE, is a prime example of how our country got to it's present state! obammy is a disgrace to our country, our way of life, and to what we stand for.

Business Ethics 101 - always politely listen, but leave when the conversation becomes confrontational. President Obama did the right thing by leaving a heated situation. Gov. Brewer should have NEVER wagged her finger at the President and I don't care if she's a Democratic, Republican, or Independent- pure and simple, it's a huge act of disrespect to the United State's Commander in Chief. Is this what Gov. Brewer wants to teach the young people of the United States, especially when so much of the youth need role models to teach them respect for people in authoritative positions? Is this why the youth disrespect teachers and police, because they see a grown women in a high position being rude to the man holding the highest, leadership position in the United States of American and the leader of the free world? Where is the civility in this nation?

If Jan Brewer had any class at all, she would have agreed with a private meeting with President Obama and left the theatrics behind closed doors - this is also Business Ethics 101. I believe Brewer wanted attention brought to herself and the far right wing to show they have no respect for President Obama and to play to the extreme rhetoric the far right wing loves. I wish everyone would think about their poor actions and how their consequences are perceived by the youth.

Also, I wish the GOP would give President Obama credit for all he is trying to do for border control. At least Obama is trying to do more to stop illegable crossings into the US, more than any other president. Obama's plan is way better than Romney's plan of separating Grandman from her family, sending her back to Mexico, and having her reapply to return to the US so she can go through the proper channels of citizenship. I believe all of this is easier said that done, but with a strong will that I know President Obama has he can win this thought!

I like that....give obammy credit for TRYING his best for border control!! Baloney, he ONLY does it, because he wants the mexican votes, because he give's them all they need for nothing, and guess who pays the bill??? Exactly......YOU and ME and the rest of those who work and pay OUR taxes. Ms Brewer has a lot of class, and a lot of guts to stick up for our interests, and not mexico's!!! Send ALL, the illegals back to where they came from, I do not want to pay for their free gratis here. obammy ain't got no class, because he's a Socialist!.........A muslim socialist!! He, wants to rule, he wants to run this country, and ME?....I want this piece of dirt OUT of here.........forever!!

                                                      Dear President Obama,

You should thank Govenor Brewer for providing you with this photo op.

We know that our lovely First Lady has been under attack as being an "Angry Black Woman" and called "ugly" by racists with stunted beauty standards because she, I don't know...insisted that people not smoke in the White House or something.

Here's an easy way to defend her honor.

Everytime you hear that sort of idiocy, just flash this picture. Yeah, yeah, we know that Janet Brewer intended the photo to have the opposite effect, but remember, she IS a teapublican. Everything they do has the Opposite effect.

                                                      Have a nice day :)

                                                      Get a clue first.

The swastika originated in ancient eastern culture actually, a symbol which Hitler 'borrowed'. It was a 'good luck' symbol of sorts, and can be found on ancient statues ranging from Shiva, to Buddha, to even the Virgin Mary. The Finnish Air Force prior to the formation and use of the swastika by the NAZIs had it on their planes. The symbol is actually still used in celebrations, on flags, and whatnot in India completely disconnected from the NAZI party.

As for your woefully inadequate understanding of the National Socialist Party (NAZIS) ... and if you showed even a tad bit of intellectual honesty - you would admit that political party names are completely arbitrary. The Nazis did indeed begin on a platform of 'nationalism' and 'socialism' prior to Hitler - but as Hitler came to power within the organization - the party took on a whole new persona. What they became is largely considered as 'fascism' which if you knew your political spectrum is an extreme right-wing ideology and very much anti-communism (for those of you who think socialism/communism are the same thing).

Sometimes complex things go over the heads of those who like to over simplify everything, so please go ahead and keep believing that durrrr Socialist party durrr socialist durrr you're nazis! durrr - if it makes it easier to comprehend.

Your revisionism is very Newt-like though, unoriginal and easily debunked by anyone who actually knows history.

gBoom you need to study up on your german, the nazi party was a right wing party with the same ideals of todays tea and gop party. As far as the Az broom lady, her ignorance showed through on her interview yesterday when all she could do was say what a great job she did saving Az. A state with an unemployment rate of 8.7 does not say we are saved. And with her confrontational attitude, it's not likely she will get much help from normal people to change any of that.

' Stupid is as stupid does ...' Forest Gump. Why don't you ask us in Arizona, since, it seems, we are still the Wild West. Remember .. we didn't VOTE her in (R) after we lost our nice Democratic governor, Napalitano... she just kinda arrived, and immediately threw the light on us with laws that allow you to 'pack' (that's carry a gun, rifle, oozy or whatever ) concealed, even into a bar. Good idea Brewer !! And the very same day ... think about it ... passed another law that allows the police force, and we were already a 'police state', to stop anyone for no reason and demand to see their papers of citizenship or green card. Of course, that would mean racial profiling , so if you're of a certain 'look' or color, you can find yourself being harrased at any time, since it also casts a 'social eye' on you ( they even pulled over a friend, who is American/ Black Irish :-) ). So - police pulling over anyone at random who could be hiding a weapon hmmm. And of course, it happened almost on the first day, a police officer was killed in "The Valley of The Sun"! It goes on. This was the first stupid law of this kind, and we can't believe that other states are entertaining same. You might also know, that when this went into effect, the thousands that have been moving into the state, buying homes and bringing money stopped, along with a boycott of the millions that used to visit this state. Desert winds blew ~ ~ ~ through buildings at the airport, down streets and across the land ~ We can't 'fire' her, so someone should turn this 'child' over their knee. Perhaps it should be , ahhhh, the President ?!!

Various forms of government contain socialist policies, including this Democratic Republic. You should know this. Your overly simplistic definition and logically retarded projection only indicates that you don't know much about this subject.

The way this president ignores federal laws when they inconvenience him and sues states when they disagree with him, one can't help but wonder if his bullyish attitude has anything to do with his experiences in Chicago.

Someone buy this President a suit of armor. His thin skinned little tirades are embarrassing for the office. He acts like a spoiled child that either gets is way or he takes his toys and goes home. Obama wants amnesty for all illegals plain and simple. Brewer wants our border secured, and how can anyone blame her for that when her state is being over run while this current administration does nothing.

Putting some national guard troops on the border with instructions not to interfere with illegals crossing, but to observe and write up a report just so Obama could say he has put more boots on the border proves his insincerity. Federals laws that get in the way of Obama's ideology are simply ignored and the lack of border security is just one example. Funny how this administration found it appropriate to arm the drug cartels but not the border.

                                                        gboom and Shuklak,

The Nazi party was indeed far right wing, Shuklak is absolutely right about that fact, however, I can see the misconception that gboom is getting. The trouble with going to far too far to the left or too far to the right is that you end up roughly at the same place.

Now can we quit arguing and all become moderates before we destroy this country?

Obama is too nice and wants everybody to go forward for the betterment of the country. Some people, including Brewer, can't stop their aggressive political betterment. Obama should just blow her off like other Presidents did some governors. She is not going to vote Democratic no matter who runs on the GOP ticket. Clinton back doored Newt and he is still Pi**ed at that, Obama shouldn't give Brewer the time of day. She will never do anything to agree with Obama and now she wants Obama to accompany her to the border - presumably to unload a truck load of guns for the Mexican Cartels.

I feel my democratic republic has been taken away from me. All these words ending in "ism" are somewhat confusing. Doesn't "ism" have something to do with doctrine? Am I not to believe socialism is not government control, or fascism is not social regimentation, doesn't both of them mean slavery? Both always use taxation to destroy there doctrine. You can be forced to pay for social programs, or you can be forced to serve a higher genetic human with your money or livelihood, is that our only choices?

Dissolutioned: I too am a resident of Arizona. It's very hard to believe that you actually live in the same state I do...your comments do not in any way resemble the truth...SB 1070 does not allow police to just randomly pull over anyone without reasonable cause...SB 1070 mirrors Federal immigration laws...our tourism here in the state has not suffered at all from the threats of boycotting our state as a result of this law. The housing market took a hit here just like it did in many states because of the overall situation with our economy...not because of SB 1070. I absolutely respect Governor Brewer, I applaud her for her actions yesterday when she met the President, she did nothing wrong,...she stands up for the citizens of Arizona...not for people that break the law by trespassing our border. As far as your comment that Jan Brewer "just kinda arrived"...she was previously the Secretary of State and as a result of Janet Napolitano accepting a position as Secretary Homeland Security, Jan Brewer, by law, assumed the position of governor. I wanted to set the record straight, because I didn't want to have other posters think that all citizens of Arizona were as ignorant as you are.

Maybe if Obama had ever been a Governor or had any political leadership experience prior to becoming President he would know the difficulties faced by Governors everday. Governors have a better feel for the "pulse" of their state, and have more communications with their citizens than a President does. Obama just can't handle it when everybody is treating him like he is the chosen one. Maybe next time we as a country will actually look at someones resume before we elect them to the Presidency.

No matter how you feel about the president and his policies, you never show any sign of disrespect for the office. I'm a 2Lt and I could never get away with showing my Captian "commander" disrespect, ecspecially in a public setting.

Initially Nazi political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois, and anti-capitalist rhetoric, though such aspects were later downplayed in the 1930s to gain the support from industrial owners for the Nazis, focus was shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes.[10]

                                                        he was this wise professor

According to the other law professors at the University of Chicago and his former Constitutional law students, that is a true statement.

Jan Brewer, on the other hand, is a complete nitwit. She was installed as governor of Arizona originally as a reward for wiping 100,000 people off the voter rolls for the 'crime' of having Spanish-sounding surnames just prior to an election. (This is how you do voter fraud, folks. Those guys get turned away at the voting booth and by the time they re-register, the election is over.)

Brewer is a brainless puppet who apparently got stung in the head by too many of those scorpions she ate for breakfast. Her two top aides while governor were paid consultants for the Corrections Corporation of America, which has a fat, non-compete contract to build, maintain, staff, and run prisons for the State of Arizona. That's why Arizona passed an unConstitutional 'law' that any brown person can be incarcerated without cause, held indefinitely, and must prove themselves innocent before they can be released. That makes for lots and lots of jail cells to build, fill, operate, and maintain. Big bucks.

The fact that the bill was supposedly 'authored' by a guy who campaigned arm in arm with American Nazi J. T. Ready – or that it was actually written by a non-Arizonan who worked for an organization founded by Nazi admirer John Tanton (who has written openly that he thinks Adolph Hitler had the right idea about "genetics" and wants basically the same thing for the United States) – is irrelevant. For John Tanton, it's all about 'racial improvement'. For CCA, it's all about the money. But for Jan Brewer it's all about being rewarded for being a good little puppet. Period.

Yet another Bully Gal Republican showing what they are really about. Note the finger in the face of the President of the United States in full public view (for effect, of course). I'm so glad that Governor PeriMenopausal is showing her inability to maintain proper decorum and protocl and instead her need to embarrass the President and how him who's "boss". No surpise there. She's a Republican, after all. I think their "MY way or the highway" has gotten to overkill levels.

They've allowed themselves to be radicalized by the tea party in the hopes that their anger can win them an election. If they don't win in 2012, expect the republican party to start to wither under the pressure they've put on themselves by going so radical.

Yes it does. Police can't break into someone's home without a warrant, but they can and MUST detain anyone they "suspect" of not having citizenship papers. Otherwise they can be sued. By anyone.

Only an idiot would carry all their papers documenting their citizenship application history anyway. For one thing, too many papers are involved if you really want to document everything. For another, ID can be stolen. If you lose a driver's license it can be replaced within an hour for $5 in most states. Try that with a Permanent Resident card. Ain't gonna happen.

SB 1070 mirrors Federal immigration laws...

No it doesn't. And Arizona is not the federal government. Nor is the local constabulary.

This comment blog is usually all so negative but I feel the people of this country are finally getting it. We are in a crisis and we need to do something about it. Governor Brewer had every right to defend her state. We have no idea what the conversation entailed but we do know our President is sueing the state of Arizona for a law they have every right to enforce. Read the law before your condemn it. Know it before you make wrong statements and Juanita knows what the law states. We can only pray this country remembers why we are in this sorry situation and vote this man out of office.

Fascism ( /ˈfæʃɪzÉ™m/) is a radicalauthoritariannationalist political ideology.[1][2] Fascists seek rejuvenation of their nation based on commitment to an organic national community where its individuals are united together as one people in national identity by suprapersonal connections of ancestry, culture, and blood through a totalitariansingle-party state that seeks the mass mobilization of a nation through discipline, indoctrination, physical education, and eugenics.[3][4]

Socialism /ˈsoʊʃəlɪzəm/ is an economic system characterized by social ownership or control of the means of production and cooperative management of the economy,[1] and a political philosophy advocating such a system. "Social ownership" may refer to any one of, or a combination of, the following: cooperative enterprises, common ownership, direct public ownership or autonomous state enterprises.[2] There are many variations of socialism and as such there is no single definition encapsulating all of socialism.[3] They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets versus planning, how management is to be organized within economic enterprises, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.[4]

Marxism is an economic and sociopolitical worldview and method of socioeconomic inquiry that centers upon a materialist interpretation of history, a dialectical view of social change, and an analysis and critique of the development of capitalism. Marxism was pioneered in the early to mid 19th century by two German philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marxism encompasses Marxian economic theory, a sociological theory and a revolutionary view of social change that has influenced socialist political movements around the world.

Communism is a social, political and economic ideology that aims at the establishment of a classless, moneyless, stateless and revolutionary socialist society structured upon common ownership of the means of production. This movement, in its Marxist-Leninist interpretations, significantly influenced the history of the 20th century, which saw intense rivalry between the "socialist world" (socialist states ruled by Communist parties) and the "western world" (countries with market economies and Liberal democratic government), culminating in the Cold War between the Eastern bloc and the "Free World".

you'll note, they refer to the US in the Communist definition as "market economies and liberal democratic government"

odd. but that aside, only 3 of these ISM's sound similar, can you point out WHICH OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER??? CAN YOU

and why are the white power, nazi americans RIGHT LEANING, if facism is a left leaning policy?

go ahead, im sure you've got lots of ideas on the subject.

I am more concerned that the President is using Air Force One in campaigning. Or, was this an official trip to "check something out?"

                                                        gboom and Shuklak,

The Nazi party was indeed far right wing, Shuklak is absolutely right about that fact, however, I can see the misconception that gboom is getting. The trouble with going to far too far to the left or too far to the right is that you end up roughly at the same place.

Now can we quit arguing and all become moderates before we destroy this country?

                                                        Oh wait, too late.

We're from Illinois, we both know Obama did nothing for this state except use the Chicago Democrat Machine to get elected. AZ has only 8.7% unemployment being so close to Mexico, what are we at 10+%. They can't admit it appears Gov. Brewer is doing her job well. Our Governor's both Democrat & Republican do nothing but tax, spend, extort and get indicted, then we gotta house them in prison! Illinois is starving for a person to Govern our state who actually cares about the people and at least has a plan of action.

People with sense don't really take her too seriously.

WOW. A photo taken at the wrong time; this photo does NOT capture their topic of discussion in the correct context. I was listening to this very conversation that Gov.Brewer had with President Obama on KFYI-550AM radio. Gov.Brewer was there, to graciously greet the President at Air Force One, as any State Governor would and should be. Brewer did NOT argue with Obama as the single photo would suggest. Gov.Brewer's pointing finger was unfortunate Body English. BUT THE PRESIDENT WALKED AWAY FROM THE GOVERNOR -- IN MID-SENTENCE!!

Mr. President, your behavior was not Presidential; was not polite in the way Gov.Brewer was gracious to you. We heard your conversation. The onus is always on YOU to be gracious upon meeting a State Governor on their turf. So you do not agree with the author's book. BE GRACIOUS ANYWAY. The President has earned demerit points in my book; Governor Brewer has earned positive points.

President Obama, you owe my Governor a public apology.

You "adults" cannot discuss things without immediately letting your feelings get hurt. You people watch too much Reality TV. Quit collapsing comments. Have an issue with a comment? Alert Tyler and Sally. Don't resort to this childish behavior.

It's amazing to me that people actually think that Obama gives a rip about some book that this person wrote. I mean really.....don't we think that he has bigger issues on his mind. Brewer needs to put her ego aside and realize noone cares about her book....especially the President.

Was it rude that he didn't let her "finish" what she was saying....probably but what are we....3rd grade. Get over it already! If anybody has ever listened to Brewer talk.....she talks a lot without saying anything. I would have walked away too or I'd been standing outside of Air Force One for hours.

People think that a picture can say a "thousand words" and obviously you know it can and you have explained this one beautifully! No, UNLESS you agree with all his policies...he will treat you like a red headed step child! GET HIM OUT OF OFFICE before this country gets "foreclosed" on by JAPAN or God only knows who! I am already sick of the ads and sick of his million promises, of which NONE have been met...don't think anything is going to change except maybe his plans for new vacation destinations with his family..oh, and maybe his wife's hairdresser... Got it? No tolerance for being rude and walking away because what..you did not contribute to my campaign. BOOHOOOOOOO! OR... you had an opinion different from mine.. whatever....he is rude and arrogant and needs to GO..time done, time out...over it!

OH and Mr/Ms. Jeolous..when the President of the US visits the state and meets the Governor, whether it be man or woman, whether he has been on Air Force One 440 f...ing days..he still, as a gentlement and as OUR President should give him or her the courtesy of at least 15 minute of his time. He is NOT GOD, he is suppose to our leader and an example of courtesy, dignity and respect! I really did not see that in this situation, so you need to get a grip and learn proper manners and protocol!

Obama is a thin skinned president who in this case showed no class to bring up such a subject and then walk away like a spoiled child. Brewer wants our borders secure and Obama wants amnesty. It is that simple. Speeches and rhetoric do nothing to protect our borders, which is all we have gotten from the current administration.

Obama's idea of more boots on the ground at the border is setting up free shoe handouts paid for by taxpayers so illegals can cross into the United States in comfort. In his second term he is planning more vehicles on the border, like Greyhound bus service for illegals. Of course both freebees are contingent on those illegals becoming members of the Democratic Party.

Brewer is a biatch of the lower order. Isn't her 15 minutes over or hasn't she been recalled yet??? She's not only an embarrassment for AZ, she's embarrassing the whole US (and probably embarrassing to the whole human race to anyone looking at us from above...)

You have no idea what was said in this conversation or why she was pointing her finger. However, it does appear that she is being touched on her side by the President. Why does everyone refuse to discuss this other than making rude comments about the Governors attractiiveness or lack of attractive qualities. Some of you predjuidiced against women in general??? Have a problem with a strong woman who speaks her mind when she talks to another employee of this country?? That is what the POTUS is an employee of "The People".

You democrats are not happy unless you have door mats for governors that ridiculously incompetent presidents can step on. A governor has as much right to upbraid the president of the United States as any citizen in the U.S. Need I have to remind you that the citizens voted him to do a job, which he has not done and we pay taxes so he can live the life of luxury?

Remember that Obummer has no experience in business, finance, economics, political science, sociology or anything related to the job he now holds. He has never hired one person. He has never run a business, has never been in the military or have any military training, never invested money or had a job in any business where he had to use any theory of finance.

He went from high school to a college where he majored in PHILOSOPHY! A person with a philosophy degree would have a very hard time getting a job. "What Job You’ll End Up With: Thanks to your extensive knowledge of philosophy, you’re now self-aware enough to know that most jobs out there will make you totally miserable. So most likely you’ll wait tables part time and hope someone starts paying you for the bi-monthly entries on your blog."

But someone pulled some strings and paid for Obummer to be accepted at Harvard Law School. Then he got a job as a researcher at a small law firm. He later was groomed for a state senate job and then was elected almost unopposed to a Federal Senate Seat.

Now where is Obummer's education and experience? It doesn't exist. He has prohibited the production of his transcripts and who paid for all this influence peddling and payments.

                                                            This is outright nepotism!

Regarding me posting the same section of a comment in multiple sections, is in answer to the same lame arguments that you people keep posting. They are not worth me wasting my time having to come up with specific rejoinders. Especially sense most of you do not seem capable of doing anything more than name calling.

This photo was taken and selected from all the possible ones they took by the media, just for its implied conflict. If there was any disrespect it was to both the President and the AZ Gov., by the media just for ratings.

Optomyst, I just watched a video of border patrol coming on to a van loaded with pot, but when they approached it, Mexican Army personnel, armed with automatic weapons, including a Humvee with a 50 cal machine gun, pointed them at our Border Patrol while the drugs were moved to another vehicle. We have a force that was intended to protect our borders - the National Guard, but they go to Afganistan or Iraq. What's wrong with this picture? Our government needs to send ALL National Guard to the Mexican border to GUARD OUR NATION! And they should have real bullets in their weapons! We have an Army, Navy, Air Force - send them overseas, but keep our National Guard home!

ONe could also assume his right hand is touching the side of her body. Your quite correct about the name calling especially from the people who are calling the Govenor all kinds of disrespectful names and behaving like high schoolers while at the same time they're demanding respect for Obama. Obama is not the ruler of America. His job is to listen to the position of ALL the people in America rather than looking down on those who disagree with him.

The same blunt-headed and simple minded thought process guides them today - with just about every issue.

Janet Brewer is an embarassment and a shameful reminder of how woefully ignorant this country is.

I see: if you disagree with Obama or anyone that wants the laws enforced, you are a racist?!

The illegal issue is not about race. It is about enforcing the immigrations laws of our land. Other nations laws are far stricter: that makes them racist? These people have no right to jump ahead of the line of everyone else legally wanting to get in our country. It makes me sick when the people who have no viable argument to justify illegals simply play the race card. How convenient.

I don't care if you are a Somali or a German or a Mexican: you follow our laws to enter our country. Those laws are there to protect us. Obama is choosing to ignore those laws as if they are not even there, which is ridiculous. He has been invited to come to the border and see what is actually happening and he won't. He doesn't have an open mind, which every leader NEEDS in order to make good decisions.

                                                            Quit using the race card.

Simply someone who is not afraid to face the truth; someone who is not afraid to face the woeful, sad, condecending grimaces of those who think she is not being "politically correct" by being willing to sell out America to those who have no love in their hearts for her, but see America as the best thing going to try to suck dry at the moment.

puggylove: get a life. Mr. Obama is the rightfully elected President of the US, whether or not you voted for him, like him or whatever. The so-called race card has nothing to do with this incident. This matter is about one thing only; respect. No one is asked to like the President, per himself. Much the same as the US Military functions, one respects an officer not because of the person, rather for what the uniform he/she wears represents. Since the US President is Commander-in Chief of all the military, the person occuppying the Oval Office is honored likewise, not because of who he is, rather what he is. Grow up and learn.

Having read all the comments no wonder the politicans cant decide what to do. They are pulled too far each way. So, Im going to give you my opinion. The President is a very intelligent, educated person, but that doesnt make him smart. His policies are how I judge him. He campained on change, and he inherited a mess, but instead of working on the economy we got national health care. I can see these 2 people disagreeing on policy, but the discussion is talking points, not what can we do to fix the issue. People are concerned about illegal immigration at a time people are without work. Would the issue be as important if jobs were plentiful? The president wants tax increases on the rich, but the rich employ lawyers and accountants to aviod taxes, so the ones that pay are the ones that always pay- working people. Washington needs to cut its spending in real dollars, not planned dollars 10 years from now. I like everyone like food in my belly, heat and cool in my home, and money in my pocket. However, neither party is talking the answers to fix anything. I have come to one and only one opinion- if they have re in front of elect, Im not voting for them. I believe in term limits, unfortunately we as the american people must be mad enough and serious enough to vote them all out of either party. Then we can hopefully effect the change in this country we need

No man that actually earned his diploma from Yale could have been as dumb and make so many bad decisions as he did. So it only stands to reason that he was helped by his family due to the power of his grandfather just as his father before him. If you don't believe that G W Bush was dumb then you are the problem.

Oddly enough if you're not a decedent of slaves or Native America, you're illegal anyway.

Has anyone taken a look at how many above average income people live in that state? These are the ones who don't mow their own lawns (too much work in the hot sun), don't clean their own homes (too lower class) and prefer to pay the lowest possible wages for these kinds of jobs. So..guess who they hire to do it?

Brewer has enough state funding coming into AZ coffers from all those Yuppies who moved into the last round of housing developments built to pay for more security if they don't want illegals. That's what other states in the east do. We don't wait for the federal government (read other taxpayers in other states) to pay for something that is a responsibility of the state that's griping. How do I know this? Family in AZ.

Sure Brewer's shorts are in a knot. All she wants is a disproportionate share of federal tax funding (and this is a Republican with all their "wasteful spending BS" mind you) to help her state avoid having to budget for it themselves. So when you hear a Republican complain about the deficit, look no further than red states who are handily helping themselves to most of the federal revenues.

It seems amazing to me that after Gabriel Gifford's example this shrill woman cant put aside her hate. What is it about President Obama that seems to bring out the worst in Republicans, are they scared he might succeed in helping out the middle class? Create some fairness in our crazy tax code? Why do they sound like some greedy millionaire's front men or women?

Of course they're not going to acknowledge it, because that would make them look more ignorant than they already look. Yes, they're scared he might actually succeed and get us out of the hole dug by chimpy, the criminal investment bankers, mortgage brokers and war profiteers. It really is baffling why they continue to vote against they're best interests, instead voting for nit wits like Romney and the Newster who know nothing about the poor and middle class, but just continue to cut the taxes of the wealthiest, trying to convince the ignoramuses among us that will fix the economy, and people actually buy into this baloney.

There's enough to dislike about Obama without reducing ourselves to name calling. How about OPERATION FAST AND FURIOUS and Eric Holder's stonewalling of the Congressional investigation into how it came about. Don't you people think the family of the young peace officer killed with one of BATF's ignored guns deserves an answer? Holder is not protecting the Justice Department, it's someone further up the food chain. How about the cooperation our president is offering, under the table, to the UN on a gun ban treaty? How about his complete contempt for the Constitution. We don't dislike him for his race, he's given us plenty of material to work with.

Regardless of political positions, there needs to be a level of respect given to this office. It has not been done. I am very dissapointed in this Goveners actions. This is exactly why we are so divided as a country. No wonder my property value is down 50% in the Mesa!

Their golden child Bush is to blame for the economy but you don't hear them spouting off about him. Their tactic is to lie and repeat that lie as many times as possible until it becomes a truth (at least they hope). When Bonehead Boehner got in there his first order of business wasn't let's fix the economy, let's tackle illegal immigration or take care of a failing health system. Noooooo it was placate to his jack booted gestapo friends and make his number one initiative to make sure President Obama was a one term president. When your main goal as a politician and for your party is to spew hate, lies and ignore working together for the common good then the true reason is obvious why this country is still in dire straights. It is because HUGE A-HOLE REPUBLICANS are still at bringing us all down. Did Obama take away our guns? NOOOOOO in fact we have more gun liberties today than before, Did Obama open up the gates to Mexico? NOOOOOOO in fact more illegal immigrants have been deported under his watch than any other president. Did Obama make this an islam state because Republicans believe he is secretly Muslim? Hell NOOOOOOO he did what the Repulican FAILURE DOUCHE BAG OF A PRESIDENT "DUBBYA" BUSH COULDN'T DO - HE GOT BIN LADEN. So all you right wing religious nut jobs who want to spread your lies and filth and negativity so that we can't get out of this economic disaster (Thanks to BUSH and his WMD crusade) - YOU CAN ALL STICK IT RIGHT UP YOUR !@#$ STUPID DUMB@$$ REPUBLICAN SCUM BAGS!!! EFF YOU, EFF YOU, EFF YOU TO HELL!!!!

The highest unemployment reached was during George W. Bush's term was 7.2% in December of 2008 which was just a couple of weeks before Obama took office. This was just about a year after the collapse of the housing bubble.

And whoever it was that said it wasn't the housing market but the derivatives market that was the cause I would have to say you are sort of correct in that it was the credit default swaps that played a major role in the tanking of the world economy

And if you think that the derivatives market played a major role then you should find this article interesting: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/interviews/born.html

This market had gotten to be over $680 trillion in notional value as of June 2008 when it topped up. I think that was the peak. And that is an enormous market. That's more than 10 times the gross national product of all the countries in the world.

                                                                      Read more: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/interviews/born.html#ixzz1kUzO3MDF

You and I do not report to the President either. He is supposed to serve us. He is an elected official. What galls me is NOOBODY on here knows who started this conversation or what was said. The fact you assume the WOMAN started it shows your own biases. Guess what? Discrimination is a two way street folks. The fact that soemone mentioned her monthly cycle shows the depths that some will stoop to. You lefters had a field day when Bush had a shoe thrown at him overseas and applauded accusations of murder. God forbid a Demcratic President have a "reported" tense conversation with a woman. Don't preach tolerance if it's just a campaign buzzword.

I do not believe that this person has shown the President of the United States the respect that has been given to all other Presidents.

Please people realize that the hatred that is stirring up within this world is infectious and it is spreading like a disease that will distroy all. While many of you may not believe that we come from one it is important to remember that in order for diversity to have come about we had to start with one that encompassed all. Some of you are highly intelligent but still lack the highest level of knowledge there is. We are spirit first because we were made in his image. Do not let your flesh control you because it is indeed what is flawed. No man is better than any other. In the end every knee shall bow. Do not give in to the struggle. That struggle is not against man or flesh and blood. The struggle is indeed against the Powers, Principalities and Organizations that are attempting to control. These situations were fortold but we choose to believe that it has nothing to do with what we are seeing today because then it might force us to have to deal with Truth. No man has the ability to fix the problem that we have placed ourselves in. We will have to ride this out until the end. Your belief is not a factor. And thankfully so, because at least in the end mankind will win. Do not forget! The meek shall inherit the earth. If you are unable to get anything out of my post that is probably an indication that you may need to concentrate on other things beside your fleshly desires. This is said in the spirit of love.

As for disrespecting former President Bush, there's alot of short term memory loss going around too!

Spelling nazi was meant as sarcasmn towards people who have nothing at all worthwhile to say therefore think they have to correct everybody else. You both want to skip right over the main point of my post. why? Because you can't get past the truth of it?? The position of POTUS does not make that title holder the superior of any one in this country. As POTUS you don't get a free pass to disrespect or minimize anybody else. POTUS does not mean dictator to be bowed down to. POTUS is elected by the people and needs to respect that.

Not only that but he increased the amount of income you can make and still qualify for food stamps. There are 45 Million on food stamps, up 31% from 2009. He ran on "Change" and that's all we have left in our pockets.

                                                                          • 8 votes

Republicans are the biggest bunch of hypocrites there are.

                                                                          • 6 votes

                                                                          • 7 votes

This from another article but you liberals refuse to deal with the real causes because it is politically expedient for you to hide the real issues:

Rick, the recession caused by Chimpy was due to the lack of oversight of the mortgage lenders, who would sell a house to a ham sandwich, criminal investment banksters who gleefully sold "derivatives", based on the ham sandwich loans, which they knew were garbage, unpaid-for wars, one of which was with the wrong country (oops), tax cuts for the wealthiest of the wealthy in '01 and '03, so on and so forth, etc., etc. The 7.2 unemployment number you cite was just beginning to reflect the consequences of Chimpie's recession, so it's misleading at best, bogus at worst.

                                                                            #19.10 - Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:34 PM EST

A-men, someone can figure out that Bush's domestic agenda has done more to sink this country than anything. No wonder he cut us a check for $1425 with instructions to go out and SPEND it in 2006. Bush saw the economy beginning to tank and could only come up with this. By the way , 60% of Americans paid off debt with it after final analysis. Why? Because personal debt was at a all time high in this country, which is another BIG reason for this recession after 30 years of constantly borrowing it finally caught up with the avg. Joe and Jane whether Republican or Democrat. So this isn't all about communist Obama like blow holes above think.
