Mitt Romney's decisive win in New Hampshire makes him the first non-incumbent Republican to win both the New Hampshire primary and Iowa caucuses since Iowa began kicking off the party's nominating process in 1976. TODAY's Savannah Guthrie reports.
Mitt Romney won the New Hampshire primary Tuesday night with a broad-based coalition of both conservative and moderate voters overwhelmingly motivated by their worries about America’s economic future and wanting above all to beat President Barack Obama in November.
According to exit poll data, more than a third of voters on Tuesday said the quality that mattered most in deciding their vote was the candidate’s ability to defeat Obama. Romney won an overwhelming 62 percent of those voters.
Regardless of how they voted, 56 percent of Tuesday’s voters thought Romney would be most likely to beat Obama in November; the runner-up in that category was Rep. Ron Paul of Texas with only 15 percent and only 11 percent saw former ambassador to China Jon Huntsman as most likely to defeat Obama.
Even though Tuesday was a Republican primary, independents could request Republican ballots and vote in the primary.
Remarkably, self-described independents accounted for nearly half of all voters Tuesday – a piece of data which has implications for November. Paul won 32 percent of independents, with Romney getting 29 percent, and Huntsman picking up 23 percent of them.
In his 2000 battle with Al Gore, George W. Bush won New Hampshire by 7,211 votes out of a total of nearly 570,000 votes. If Romney is the GOP nominee that would make New Hampshire competitive this fall. Having an appeal to independents would be crucial to his hopes of carrying the state and its four electoral votes.

Among self-described Republicans Romney won a solid 49 percent of them, according to exit poll interviews. The closet contenders with appeal to Republicans were Paul with 16 percent and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum with 13 percent.
Huntsman invested heavily in New Hampshire and will likely finish a distant third once all the votes are counted.
Given this, is he the alternative for moderate Republicans? Maybe not: Romney bested Huntsman among self-described moderates, 39 percent to 26 percent.
And based on the New Hampshire exit poll, to whom might anti-Romney conservatives turn? Romney won 42 percent of conservatives Tuesday with Paul finishing second among that segment of voters with 19 percent. Santorum got 15 percent of conservatives.

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney addresses supporters in Manchester on January 10, 2012 after seizing a second victory in his fight to be the party's presidential nominee, winning New Hampshire's key primary.
Romney performed best among the highly educated (winning 42 percent of college graduates), among upper income voters, and among older voters.
He did less well among lower income people– winning 31 percent of those earning less than $30,000 a year. Paul did best among that group winning 36 percent of them.
While nearly seven out of ten exit poll interviewees said they were “very worried” about the direction of the nation’s economy in the next few years, only 16 percent said their own family was falling behind financially. Of that “falling behind” group, Romney ran first, winning 32 percent of them to Paul’s 29 percent.
Paul dominated among voters aged 18 to 29, winning 47 percent of them but they accounted for only 12 percent of the electorate, according to exit poll interviews.
Gingrich’s lackluster performance did not seem to bode well for the South Carolina contest – he could not break above 20 percent for any of the age, income, ideological or demographic groups that were identified in the exit poll sample.
Likewise Santorum -- who did very well only among the roughly one-fifth of the electorate who called themselves “very conservative.” Santorum won 26 percent of such voters – but Romney won 33 percent of them.
One surprising finding: Santorum, a Catholic, won only about 8 percent of self-identified Catholic voters, a serious underperformance on his part since Catholics accounted for more a third of the electorate Tuesday. Gingrich, also a Catholic, won 10 percent of Catholic voters, according to exit poll interviews.
Romney, a Mormon, dominated among Catholics winning 45 percent of them.

"It's the economy, stupid." If the economy continues to improve up to November, Obama will be re-elected.
And if it falters (read: Grecian default initiates cascade), Obama will get smoked. Nothing new there.
TexasMike
"Remarkably, self-described independents accounted for nearly half of all voters Tuesday" = Obama is in trouble, it is the independents who will swing the 2012 election!
And do you believe the economy is improving, from what to what? From 17% to 15% unemployment with a price tag of over $ 1 trillion added to the Federal debt every year!
http://portalseven.com/employment/unemployment_rate_u6.jsp
What Kool Aid are you drinking?
But Independents like myself will remember that under Bush we were given a check for $1425 with instructions to go out and spend it on "consumable" items back in 2006. WHY? Because the economic signals then were showing signs of tanking back then under a REPUBLICAN. Also 2 wars and a continued tax break that has cost this country nearly 4 trillions in cost and lack of revenue. So us Independents listen to Hannity and hear the 5 trillion over debt blamed entirely on the Obama adm. my thoughts are what kind of a rug are they(Republicans) trying to pull over our heads. Then the Bush White House summons the McCain team and Obama team to the White House before the 2008 elections with "By the way the auto industry is about to collapse and one of you will inherit this disaster, what are your thoughts?? since we have no thoughts" And by the way we're somewhat concerned about a drastic increase in home foreclosures, you may want to brainstorm on what you intend to do. So yes, I remember the past quite well and am not ready to blame Obama on everything. I lay more responsibility on REPUBLICANism. Interesting back then at a national debt of 11 trillion, no Republicans were going ape — — — — about the debt back then.

Different Times! I hate to tell you this, George Bush is out of office!
This is OBAMA'S economy, Obama's $1 Trillion plus in debt each year, unemployment bouncing between 17% and 15% (U-6), and, Obama had a super majority in Congress in his frist 2 years in office.
What did we taxpayers get in Obama's 4 years, bailouts for bankers and wall street, entitlements for those that do not want to work, Obamacare that can not be paid for and will raise costs for all, corruption, paybacks, fraud, a lack of illegal immigration enforcement and a larger government!
America is on the wrong path under Obama!
For TRUE CHANGE, vote Ron Paul, 2012, put America and Americans First!
Paul, very well said. I have not forgotten either. The Republicans/Conservatives have never accepted a decent amount of accountability for a very significant contribution to the debt, destruction of the economy and the killing of Capitalism. It's with blind allegiance that their followers keep empowering the same unprincipled and unscrupulous characters.
Note Mr. Obama, nor the Left, will say anything about the following FAILED, voter targetted, PROGRAMS but will hammer the idea that the Repulicans BLOCKED his jobs initiatives (note he has been working on Job creationf for three years):

Not to mention "Fast and Furious" which has been swept under the rug and Holder remains on his staff.
Anyone but Obama in 2012.
Romney has no convictions. He is a wishy washy, soft spoken, unremarkable man who has risen to power on the backs of others who have drug him along. He is the most left wing republican since Nixon and he has the same questionable afinity for half-truths and telling people what he "really" meant. When the media begins tearing into this man's ever-changing positions, Obama will easily defeat him.
Hey Donald, got about $1,000 you'd like to bet?
MtMike, why do you keep recycling the lies and BS? There was no super majority for the first 2 years. You can look at the numbers month by month and there are only a couple months where the democrats actually hit the magic number. The bail out came before Obama took office.
You're not convincing anyone with lies and exaggerations.
The bad news first... almost half of the turnout were Independants. The good news being that less than 10% of the Independants even attended.
Bull Squeeze! You forgot the 787 billion? Qe1,2,twist and coming 3????? all during this administration... Yes Bush administration bailed out banks to the tune of 700 billion the first time, and Obama has obliged ever since... RON PAUL...
You must be pretty well-off. Perhaps you should try caucusing with a few educated, well-informed individuals, for the particulars of your list. Maybe try something novel, like, compromise with a friend of opposite position. Also, unless you fully comprehend how Bush got us in this mess, you should refrain from trying to destroy a person trying to HELP you, as he tries to stop the bleeding. No magician went to the WH. He's a man, who was not informed of precisely how much the Bush administration was hiding. Did YOU know about the unpaid wars, unpaid tax cuts, insurance nonsense, etc.. Now they want to bring in another non-intellectual (like Bush/Cheney) to complete the job, i.e., raid SS, medicaid, medicare (privatize), and anyplace else they can suck out the money. Bush & Cheney did to the country, exactly what Willard did at Bain -- went into companies, had them borrow money, stole the employees pension funds, DOWNSIZED, redistributed pilfered funds, walked away with millions. These were 'good' paying jobs, unlike the minimum wage jobs at Staples & Pizza Hut. Did you know that some companies had to undo what Bain did after they left? The government should regulate such practices; they're supposed to protect us. Bush/Cheney, like Willard@Bain, only serves to eliminate the middle man. You know, put the business thief IN the WH, where he can steal from you, lie to you about it, then like Bush said, 'leave it for the next guy'. You should leave Hannity, Rush and the other zillionaires alone for a while and actually check out Obama's record and very difficult job, ESPECIALLY when Congress (holding the checkbook) has vowed to get rid of him. You've got a lot of studying to do, so that you can become a more well-informed citizen. Learn about how your government should work & how it's been working. Note: How would you try to save the country if the guy before you spent ALL of the money, leaving only DEBT? Having a couple of Business degrees myself, I know that you must spend money to make money. Unless, as in Willards' case, you make money off money... this is not Capitalism ... it's 'Vulture Capitalism'. Please study before you make another 2010 mistake.

So the "independents" in Congress did not count for voting with Obama and the Dems?

IDO, did you even check your "sources" before posting them online? The "black farmer fraud" story is about a class action lawsuit that was settled in 1999, it was a story from 2002. Both happened WAY before Obama was elected.
MtMike, you just copied and pasted the same crap.
how where you able to put those links in there mine keep getting removed?
There will be a divided convention. That's for sure!
Ah, the worrisome 'independents'. Did they select their favorite candidate - or - were they rejecting the unacceptable candidates? Being independent means they will look at the choices of the moment and decide. So far, the primaries are indicating that Romney is the independent choice - among Republican candidates.
The problem with the political spin is that independents are center right on fiscal issues but center left on social issues. That is why polls show that government spending is considered a problem (fiscal issue) but entitlements should not be cut (social issue). If the economy does not improve or worsens - do independents lean towards addressing fiscal policy or social policy?
I believe in the general election the independents will send a message to stop the subsidies, raise taxes, balance the budget with revenue and cuts to the discretionary budget, but keep the unemployment and social safety net programs. This is not going to be a 'dollars and cents' election - this is going to be a 'Main Street values' election.
again, it is all about beating Obama. It was never about the policy.... It is a real shame that so many of the Republican voters are clueless... You who chose to sacrafice liberty for safety, deserves neither.
MtMike - you crack me up. Keep huffing and puffing on your medical mary jane - you will really need it when Obama is reelected in 2012 since the true American patriots see through your bs. You have already conceded defeat. Stop wasting your time and energy on blogs and take that time to volunteer at a shelter.
Many of the "independents" are ex-Republicans.
Were the NH Republicon votes counted like they were in Iowa? If so, Republicaons have a hugh voter fraud problem...they are so paranoid about it that they are trying to change all state election laws!
I hope Romney gets it! The choice for President Obama will be obvious in November.
Have at it, Repubs - gnash those teeth, destroy your binkies while the Repub machine gins you up with Fox Tabloid News!
Nothin' like voting for something rather than against anything.)
Ron Paul has around 23% right now with 95% in. Why does it say he has 15% in your article? I know the news media is biased against Ron Paul but at least report your numbers right.
Let's see... I hear the sounds of "Nahhh nahh... nah nah nah.. hey hey hey... goodbye" for Gingrich and Perry. Santorum (InSantorum) you will be next. Followed by Huntsman and then Ron Paul.
Headlines November 7, 2012 - Obama beats Mittens. Country continues economic road to recovery.
MtMike.....hate to have to wake you up, THIS IS BUSH's ECONOMY........in Jan 2007 the Housing Foreclosure Crisis was well underway.....in Feb 2007 Bush made a State of The Nation appearance and admitted he knew the housing crisis was there and he had no intentions of doing anything about it he said "We are going to let the Banks Deal with it"
Then in September of 2008 he did infact call McCain and Obama off the campaign trails [See Paul's Post above] to make them force the Senate to pass his $800 Billion Dollar Bank Bailout! [Since the Democratically led House Failed it!]
Shame to have the memories rehashed eh Mt Mike?
Under Bush the first Govt' bailout of a Securities Corp [see Lehman Bros/Morgan Stanley] since "THE GREAT DEPRESSION" also on a footnote of that the Federal Reserve Funded and approved that on a Sunday to the tune of $30 Billion Dollars.
Next MtMike and all the Republican Forgettable........out in California a bank called Indy-Mac actually had to shut its doors due to account holders making a run on the bank to save their deposits [again the first time since "THE GREAT DEPRESSION"] and all of this is while George W. Bush is President!
There is soooooooo much more!
yes bush got us in to mess by say spend instead saying invest. Obama is no better. He actions are anti small business and pro big business. He fail to arrest and try any one of banksters. Remember the president is the enforcer of the law. He gave special tax breaks to business who gave a lot to his campaign. Because that obama failed ows begin.
Well, this episode of The Biggest Loser was boring.
None are dropping out of the race either. This promises to be one long drawn out saga. It's like watching a soap opera full of melodrama waiting for some evil action to happen.
With the money Gingrich's PAC is pouring in, I suspect he will provide the evil. If there is one thing Gingrich knows by heart, it's dirty politics. By the time they finish spatting back and forth, the last for candidates will be evenly tied at 25% each.
First excellent post rico111 - huge round of applause from Texas.
Bosslmio - I HOPE you are right on the money. The longer the republican GOP candidates stay in the race, the more likelyhood that Obama will crush them in the election.
Even though a large percentage of people said it was all about Mr Obama's (not Mr Bush's) economy.
People, people, people! I said this before ... if you are voting for someone just because you think they can win and not because they stand for what you believe, or have the best plan for the country, you probably shouldn't be voting at all.
Do what's right. Vote for the best person, no matter who that may be.
Spider, isn't it supposed to be $10,000? We are talking Republicans, aren't we?
TexasMike says, " If the economy continues to improve up to November, Obama will be re-elected."
All things considered, Mike, I would prefer it that the economy improves, and take my chances.
Actually it's being reported that Ron Paul won the independent voters with Mitwit in second.
Nicely said Common Sense Ed, but it was the Republican Primary. Have they done anything lately that shows They have any common sense?
Instead of bickering about who did what, why not get behind Ron Paul and fix the 2 party circus that doesn't amount to anything good? Dems. Repubs = Failure. Ron Paul 2012!
We have been under "tinkle down economics" since Reagan was in office, transfer wealth from the middle class to give to the rich buy cutting services and taxes. Under "tinkle down economics" it is the middle class that gets soaked, we need someone to end the class warefare against the middle class and restore sanity to our tax laws. Anyone signng a pledge to Grover Buttface is a traitor to America.
You liberals are so funny, electing a person with no executive experience and then making excuses for him when he has failed. I believe it was anyone but Bush last time from you (including the inexperienced) and now you are saying vote for someone not against someone?
I am not saying that Bush was a great or even good president but I would rather have him than what Obama has been doing to this country with his "I know better than you although my resume doesn't show it" attitude. The people will continue to suffer under Obama while he and his family takes nice US taxpayer funded vacations to exotic places.
Superman007 (you must have a self-esteem problem):
Let's go back to losing 750,000 jobs a month and then ask if things aren't better now.
People have the shortest memory span. You lose all credibility when you say Obama has failed and made things worse. Talk to anyone who lived thru the depression and you"ll stop whining. This current President kept us from disaster and you act like a fool.
All this means is the republican sheep have fed on the incessant right wing anti Obama rhetoric which has been the main focus of the right wing since before he was even elected. most of it is total nonsense and people shpuld be careful because they may be stepping off a cliff. When Bush became President the deficit was a littl over 5 trillion at the end of his tenure which was the end of the fiscal year the debt went over 11 trillion. One man one President with the help of republicans more than doubled our national debt and he and his cohorts said this was the right thing to do.
Read this and pay particular attention to the last part hwere it says Bush's trick of not including the war debt in his budget will inflate these numbers way over the top.
Democratic point man on the budget, Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota, blasted the administration for its "reckless fiscal policies," blaming the president's tax cuts for driving the government into deficit and saying Bush "will be remembered as the most fiscally irresponsible president in our nation's history." Watch Conrad call the federal debt Bush's legacy »
Conrad, who chairs the Senate's budget committee, accused the president of "squandering" the surplus he inherited from President Bill Clinton and said the increased debt the government has taken on to cover the deficit has undermined the value of the dollar and hurt the overall economy.
"If they gave out Olympic medals for fiscal irresponsibility, President Bush would take the gold, silver and bronze," Conrad said. "With his eight years in office, he will have had the five highest deficits ever recorded. And the highest of those deficits is now projected to come in 2009, as he leaves office."
But a senior administration official says the budgetary problems stem from what he called inadequate defense, intelligence and homeland security resources that were handed down from Clinton.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office in March projected the deficit for the 2008 fiscal year, which ends September 30, would be $357 billion. It predicted the 2009 deficit to be $342 billion, if the president's proposals were adopted.
Both assumptions, however, were made before the economic stimulus package was passed by Congress and signed by the president this spring. The CBO said it would release revised deficit estimates in September.
Understand this these numbers are without the war numbers and do not include the TARP funding which in itself was 700 billion.
@stopthecannibals,
And pray tell, just how did Obama keep us from disaster?
It is dissapointing that the majority of the voting public seems unable to make intelligent choices for our nation's leadership. Voting seems based on sound bites, stage presenence and who would most likely be able to defeat the opposing party's candidate. No thought as to whether or not the candidate actually has a workable plan for instituting policy that will benefit our nation. Mitt Romney.. REALLY? He's Barak Obama in an elephant suit.
Scares me that the republican voter's are basing their decisions on "the candidate’s ability to defeat Obama".
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! Stop voting along party lines only. The parties have both become polarized to far left or right of center that they are unable to achieve anything for the American people and our nation. There's no middle ground left for compromise which moves us forward.
Two wrongs, Bush, then Obama, do not make a right. Obama and his policies are a extension of Bush. Bailout the wealthy, which Obama did, entitle, grow government, enlarge the debt.
When you people stop playing the game of Bush sunk us fiscally, and realize Obama, and his 3 plus years in office put the US even farther behind a economic recovery!
If you think Obama's remedies, 15% to 17% unemployment (U-6), adding over One Trillion to the National Debt EVERY YEAR, growing government, splitting America into class warfare, bailing out the bankers and wall street (keeping the same crooks who caused this fiscal mess in power) then you deserve to watch this country go down the drain!
You Reap what you Sow America!
Paul is the only one who can beat Romney and then Obama.
The others don't even have national organizations, nor are they on every state ballot.
This is a 2 man race.
The others need to quit and endorse him so we can have a strong, conservative candidate take down Obama on his flip flops.
@MtMike
Reading comprehension is good. The unemployment rate is 8.2%. Stop reporting the underemployment rate as the unemployment rate.
MtMike when I pointed out how the unemployment rate was scewed in 2006 the right Bush bots attacked me and made every excuse. Want to fix the econmy and have a strong dollar? Simple. raise taxes and cut spending to balance the budget. If you love America and want it to prosper then increase the addmittance fee to live here (taxes). Those that do not want to support the system can pick another country to move to.
Tea1959, are you brain dead? Go back and study the stock market , Lehman Brothers, AIG and all of the banking industry and stock market starting in August, 2008. George Bush was President during that time and he was visibly shaken when he told the American public that there was a crisis brewing. Little did we know that a financial crisis, fueled by a housing bubble, would shake the USA for over 10 years (and counting). Luckily, President Obama has kept us from disaster (sorry for repeating that).
After all, we were losing 750,000 jobs a month - but Republicans says things are worse. Who would you believe?
Did you really think you can try to re-write history on this already? LMAO
It just occured to me ... Romney looks like Bert of Sesame Street ...
LOL.
Googled Bert of SSt
You are right exotic!
Mitt is a replica of Bert lol
I was offput by TwoBit Mitt's standing up and reading his nomination acceptance speech consisting of a series of sound bites taped together by his three chief speech writers.
Don't know about the Sesame Street comparison, I am more inclined to match him up with Ken. Newter already has the matching Barbie (who is probably not much older than the original).
Plastic and predictable.
Independents will flee once Romney's record as a self-proclaimed job creator fails to hold up to scrutiny.
Oh, on advice from his campaign managers, Willard went with the O'Prompter for this N.H. win speech ... didn't want him gaffing and coming off sounding like his usual nutcase self ...
And Obama looks like Dumbo (even the name fits his actions). With those ears he could have flown around the country without the benefit of Air Force 1 or the tour bus that seems to be sitting on blocks somewhere.
. . ., and he's just about as exciting as ol' Bert.
It just occurred to me. Romney is going to win.
Romney is Bert from Sesame Street.
I think Romney vs. Obama is a very close race similar to 04' www.hamptonangle.com
Romney will never become president. His time at Bain Capital is going to haunt the living sheeit of him. You don't the independent voter are going to stick to Romney. He can say Obama policies are killing jobs but the proof is in the putting. So don't count your chickens Republicans. I will tell you this. It won't be a landslide like 2008 but Obama will be re-elected.
No way will Obama be re-elected. The gravy train is coming to it's final stop and all the free ticket riders are about to get booted off.
You better like the GOP as they will never focus on jobs, just tax cuts for the rich, anti abortion measures, bashing gays and repealing any chance of health care, bomb the middle east for Israel.... more wars for the GOP!!!!
Barb - according to the GOP you are on the gravy train - so buckle up, you are in for a rude awakening.
Aside from the LONG dirty laundry list of obama assaults on America, nobody has even MENTIONED the all out assault on our PRIVACY as Americans... his sneaky unending detention of citizens without any charges or due process (police state beginnings) His assassination tactics on American citizens, his RAMPED UP WAR MACHINE WHERE HE HAS SENT MORE TROOPS INTO MORE COUNTRIES THAN ALL OF BUSH YEARS (and for the record I DESPISE bush with every fiber of my being) he will have started a war with Iran, DURING 2012...THIS IS AN UNDENIABLE F*A*C*T , he has tripled the war efforts in Afghan, hes almost started war with Pakistan, hes bombed Libya, he's STILL IN IRAQ, hes bombing in Yemen, he has covert assassination ops in Somalia and Ethiopia, and is meddling in Syria. This man is as horrible if not WORSE THAN bush...hes a war monger, and he is now on full assault towards AMERICANS and their civil liberties... he is systematically destroying our rights, little by little, from govt control of Internet spaces, to indefinite detention with out charges, to creating his own GITMO VER. 2.O (BELGRAM PRISON) complete with torture, human rights violations, secret prisons, black sites, renditions, and enormous spending of tax dollars for mercenaries to "replace" the legit military in Iraq..
No body's mentioned these things....and you can split hairs on the economy and the blame game, but all the above IS ALL BARRACK BARRY HUSSEIN OBAMA, and there's no splitting hairs or trying to pin that stuff on bush.
I am ashamed to admit I voted for him last time, only cause i didnt want palin a heart-attack away from the presidency... I was a Hillary Supporter...but in these times, with these problems...
ITS ----R*O*N----P*A*U*L----2*0*1*2---- AND BEYOND!!!
ITS TIME FOR AN AMERICAN REVOLUTION, TO TAKE BACK OUR NATION!! THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS HAVE BECOME ONE IN THE SAME, JUST A LIBERAL VERSION OR CONSERVATIVE VERSION, BUT THEIR AGENDAS...ARE IDENTICAL... THEY HAVE THE SAME GOAL, JUST OFFER 2 DIFFERENT WAYS TO GET THERE.
RON PAUL... PARTY OF THE PEOPLE, TAKE BACK THIS COUNTRY
So, "exotix", is Mitt leaving his wife for you? Will Obama be your best man ? Are you decorating the new mansion? :)
re: 2.14
Ron Paul's message is our own message. Freedom is the prize; above all others. I think that the collective "America" is starting to catch on that equal opprtunity is something that hasn't been seen in this country or anywhere else for a long, long time...
I think that the more Mitt Romney goes around touting "...corporations are people, too!" (You could probably REALLY get into that idea when you're a high man on Bain's totem pole), the more we can see through him. In fact, the highly polished veil draped over Mitt to make him palatable to the masses will grow thinner and thinner, until the globalist, anti-people, anti-freedom (much less equality) monster will be revealed... even to the most dense R. partisans.
Ron Paul supporters believe in freedom. We will likely NOT vote for Romney if he is the "nominee" or any of the others. We also will likely NOT vote Obama, instead... We aren't allowed to vote "no confidence" (would win by a landslide, I reckon, representing all so-called "parties"), so what can we do? Write in Ron Paul, that's what... Keep organising; keep spreading the message of liberty; keep demanding sound/sane monetary policy; keep standing up for our State's rights...
Ron Paul 2012. The only other choice is more of the same; tyranny.
BAM! Awesome news for representation in elections...
http://www.infowars.com/good-news-for-ron-paul-florida-may-allow-proportional-delegates/
We can only hope more states follow suit.
Whoopee freakin' do.......... The Three Branches of Aristocracy will bring America down regardless of what puppet gets a seat in China's White-house.....
LOL, aristocracy means rule by the excellent. I think you meant oligarchy: rule by the wealthy few.
Is it just me or do the four sons pictured look old enough to serve in the war he's sure to start? Wonder where the fifth son is?
And I don't care what you call it......I'm FED UP too!
Oooops...all five are there. Good now they can all go enlist because they are a very patriotic family ...are they not?
Spider, Isn't it supposed to be $10,000? We are talking about Republicans, aren't we?
Any way you slice it or dice it, Ron Paul will be a major force in this election. "Electability" is synonymous with 'inside the beltway" and won't cut it in November. The independents want Romney because he will be easy to beat come election day. If Paul comes in first in South Carolina, Romney is finished.
I dont get what the big deal was about the NH primary. Wasnt Romney expected to win decisively since he's one of those northeastern moderate conservatives? I don't see how this expected outcome is indicative of the November election, unless you mean NH is the only state Romney is likely to carry against Obama. The bigger question is if the Tea Partiers are going to go against everything they stand for, throw away their principles, and vote for the moderate conservative, just to beat Obama. Seeing how Romney only scored 39% in a state he shouldve swept, I'd say that's a big NO.
It doesn't matter who the desperate Republican voters picked from the crazy train. Romney doesn't have a clue about living as a middle class citizen in this country. He was born rich, handed everything on a platter and not for one second had to worry about paying the bills. This man is so out of touch with reality, this country would see the real depression if he made it to the White House. He has spelled it out folks. His mantra is clearly feed the rich and starve the rest.
I voted for Romney in the primary in NH simply because I know he can't win the white house... Nothing makes me happier then screwing over republicans and interfering with their primary
I sure as H--- don't want Romney to win we would be in a world of hurt worse than now....I don't think
anyone of the Republicans running are worth my vote....I do not want to go deeper in the hole than we
are.....
"Remarkably, self-described independents accounted for nearly half of all voters Tuesday – a piece of data which has implications for November."
Indeed. My personal election model for the 2012 elections estimates Obama would get only about 42% of the vote (if held today) - principally because of a 6% drop in people who self-identify as Democrats, a significant drop in support from Independents and perhaps a small drop in Hispanic support, and an estimated 3% drop in likely voters among the young (under 30) as they return to their normal voting pattern.
In the 2008 elections, the total difference in the popular vote for Obama can be accounted for by high school dropouts (63% voted for Obama) and young inexperienced voters (66% voted for Obama) who are disenchanted with Obama and will likely return to more normal voting patterns in 2012. When combined with the dramatic swing in Independent voters against Obama in current polls, and fewer self-identified Democrats, it looks quite bleak for Obama's reelection chances, and since Obama's only chance is to run a very negative campaign of distraction, it will likely dampen turnout even further, which will likely hurt the Democrats in Congressional races as well.
With 23 Democratic Senate seats up for election in 2012 (vs only 10 for Republicans), all the Republicans need is to win a net of 4, and in 2010 the Republicans won a net of 7 out of 19 previously Democratic held seats.
With Republican control of the legislative agenda, even if Obama is reelected (unlikely), his far-left agenda will be gutted. It's unlikely that the $Billion that Obama will spend on his campaign will help him much.
Hey Jlhome. Please help me understand how your mind works. How do we get deeper in the hole than we are now by electing Romney or one of the other republicans who ALL want to stop the crazy Obama government spending spree, eliminate the regulations that are making it tough for companies to give us jobs and move AWAY from the socialist policies and programs that Obama and his CZARs have created the past three years. Seems to me that ANY republican would reverse the deep hole that Bush and Obama have created together. $15 Trillion in Debt and wanting more. It is hard to imagine anyone being that irresponsible.
What is it with you guys and your obsession with Romney's sons. Yes, they are all old enough to be in the millitary. By old enough mean in their 30's. They are all married and all have careers. The youngest is currently working on his residency to be a doctor. Not everyone joins the military.
A NH Independent, who usually votes Republican, told me that they personally didn't like ANY of the candidates. They voted in the primary but are going with Obama in November, since he has done some good things, i.e., end Iraq war, gays in military, and that the mess he inherited seems from the last administration, seems to be getting better. That and the Republican options just plain suck. Seems like an interesting conundrum for the pollsters and the Republican party.
Boyd-4008127 " Seems to me that ANY republican would reverse the deep hole that Bush and Obama have created together. $15 Trillion in Debt and wanting more. It is hard to imagine anyone being that irresponsible."
The scarey thing is that Obama's own projections from his 2012 Budget shows the National Debt increasing to more than $26 Trillion within about 9 years.
Here's a comparison of the Debt incurred under Bush and Obama (after adjusting for $325 Billion of TARP funds borrowed under Bush and repaid by the banks in Obama's term);
Bush's Debt increased by $4.574 Trillion over 8 years = $572 Billion per year.
Obama's Debt increased by $4.935 Trillion in less than 3 years = $1,645 Billion per year.
How much longer can we just 'borrow and spend'? The example of Greece shows us that there is a limit, which we will reach this year, but Obama still wants to spend more.
The 'bottom line' is We can't afford another 4 years of Obama.
We all know the system is rigged. I just wish we could stop the Dem vs repub or "teabagger" vs "libtard" sort of stuff.
@Roy
What you're not factoring in is the Republican's poor performance in congress. Let's see what the people think about the Republicans after they attempted to cut their services, unions, and demands of attacking Iran.
The only thing that would defeat Obama is a terrorist attack on this country. G W Bush failed to do that since he sat by and allowed terrorist to bring down the WTC by not taking the threats seriously. (Or allowing them to happen to further his agenda to attack Iraq)
Now before you say I'm crazy, just remember our military has used "false flags" before to escalate wars or to justify attacks on other countries and with the "war hawks" Bush had in his cabinet, I would not bet the farm it didn't happen.
Whie we all must put up with the republica every four year circus I along with others truly hope those who fall for the line of crap republicans have been spewing for the last number of get some help learn to read and wuit taking their talking points from what they hear or see on their version of a news network.
From what you see and hear here and on other places it would seem Democrats are the cause of the deficit. Nothing can be farther from the truth. In retropect Clinton was the only President who while in office proposed sever balanced budgets which were turned down by the right wingnuts. Now as to who caused the deficit? Read on
Here in a nutshell is a list of our last Presidents and the percentages of borrowing they did while in office.
Truman NONE
Eisenhower 3%
Kennedy Johnson 6%
Nixon Ford 14%
Carter 13%
Reagan 25%
Bush I 28%
Clinton 6%
Bush II thru 2002 23%
Bush II FROM 2003 to end of term 32%
So who are the big spenders? Why its Republicans who offer meager tax cuts to the not so rich and famous while lavishing tax cuts on the wealthy which make them have to borrow in order to keep the government running. This is a shill game and we better wake up to it before it is too late.
Bush I BushII and Reagan are responsible for 70% of the Debt we owe now.
Thank God they were fiscal conservatives
Obama became President right when Bush's crap hit the fan. He has said before that this recovery would be long painful and slow and we would incur more debt because the financial people who usually rescue us after a bout with recession were in no shape to do so because they were on the verge of collapse. He has done a wonderful job of stopping us from going into a dpression righting the ship and putting us back on the long slow progess that yes will be painful. Unemployment after any recession is always the last to recover. Jubak had an excellent article on the recovery in which he stated we do not know what the end of this recession will look like because we are in uncharted waters.
I can say this yes we are in uncharted waters and from the problems other countries are having recovering we nee to get rid of this globalization BS asap.
Roy has been spouting that anti Obama BS for years here. Most of which is a figment of his imagination and lacking facts.
The truth is Bush collapsed not only our economy and ran like a scared dog but left the democrats with only one way out which he and Cheney claimed was ok to do and that was borrow. He cut taxes then started two wars! That forced us to borrow money to support those wars. Our dollar to a big hit and along with it the price of oil ran up which caused all kinds of sweat on the economies of this and other countries. It was a vicious cycle and the main instument in America that was to take the hit was you guessed it the housing bubble. When that collapsed the dominos started to fall. next we learned that the Republican bill that was pushed throu that let people offer insurance without backing kicked in and as people lost their homes the banks started to want to collect on the credit default swaps they had purchased. At that time republicans to their horror realized they made a huge mistake because the lending institutions could not pay off on them because they had no capitol to back them (lehman brothers defaulted on 360 billion dollars of them)
Nex we got to where we are today. The recovery was working and right then the Supreme court decided once again to interfere and let the rich buy the election and Obama was face with a bunch of nut cases in the house who's motto was my way or the highway and a Senate where the Republican leader had stated his job was to make sure Obama was not reelected.
Now we got a sorry bunch of republicans running for office and all any of them can do is as bad as Bush. Just imagine what this country will look like with a Republican in the white house ok'ing all those stupid bills the house passed. We will not make it the four years before we become a third world country.
breadex,
Thanks for laying out the facts on who the "big spenders" really are! Well done! Unfortunately, many Republicans, with the help of Karl Rove, will take this data and somehow spin it so Dems still get the blame.
Beadex percentage borrowed by Obama is not included - hiding something?
forthermore directly from the US constitution. The President can only spend what Congress approves. Look back with two exceptions 1) Bush - the Democrats controlled the House. AND 2) Republicans controlled the House and Senate when the budgets went to "Balanced" ***
*** The budgets were officially balanced on paper, but the US Treasury showed we borrowed 19 & 85 Billion in the two "balanced" years.
Sure, Boyd. I can explain the problem with electing Romney in one word - China. Romney will follow the Republican tradition that started with Nixon of sending our jobs, our money and our technology to China in a short-sighted effort to make more money for his CEO buddies. I LOVE the commercial he's running in South Carolina where he says his litmus test for a program will be whether it's worth borrowing money from China while the government finances a tax break for his buddies.. By borrowing money from China!!!
Dems are jumping for joy now Romney is the corporate puppets candidate. Romney will flip again towards the Dems if gets elected and will never follow through with his babble. Obama is laughing because his run for a second term has just become easier. It's a win, win for the Dems.
Huh?,
I'm fine with bashing Republicans about China, but to be fair, I think Democrats deserve equal bashing. If they wanted to make changes, they could have when they had the presidency, House and a filibuster proof majority in the Senate (I'm including the 2 independents that caucus with the Democrats).
The bottom line is, as with a host of other issues, the Democrats are no better than the Republicans on most of these issues. They talk about helping the little guy, but when they had the chance they didn't do it. Both parties are beholden to special interests - which include other nations such as China.

This means that deficit spending is equal to the GDP
Yeah, wake up people.
The Pew Center reported in April 2011 the cause of a $12.7 trillion shift in the debt situation, from a 2001 CBO forecast of a cumulative $2.3 trillion surplus by 2011 versus the estimated $10.4 trillion public debt we actually face in 2011. The major drivers were:
Notice that number One, two and three on the list is the recession, the defense spending and Bush tax cuts. All brought on by the Republicans. Do we need anymore American killing policies from the Republicans?
CNN's Jack Cafferty and CBS's Mark Knoller have noted that the US national debt in nominal dollars has increased more rapidly under President Obama than under any other U.S. president, and that it had increased by $4 trillion since the beginning of his term of office
The problem with people that do the news is that they don't investigate thoroughly or they're lazy and just repeat what others say. Obama is not the major cause of the deficit since most of his stimulus has been repaid and what hasn't been is still pending. Of course if they do report the full story accurately they get accuse of being a liberal reporter.
If you want the real cause of the major portion of the deficit just read this article from July 2011.
http://www.tnr.com/blog/jonathan-cohn/92569/bush-obama-deficit-tax-cut-stimulus-health
@ ron
They never had a filibuster proof congress for more than 6 weeks. Not hardly enough time to get anything passed.
http://538refugees.wordpress.com/2011/06/22/the-democratic-super-majority-myth/
hopefully Americans will wake up an realize the only way to any kind of real change is to get behind Ron Paul, I am a lifetime Republican who voted for Obama, although I don't like him much at all, I couldn't stand all of mclame's war rhetoric, turns out obama was a huge liar, what a shock, I' should have written in RP! even if you don't like RP, (which I happen to support him100%) all you anit-obamers who are going for romney as an anti-obama vote or you actually think he can beat obama, romney is no different than obama anyway for 1! for 2, paul has a better chance because he will still get most of the GOP to vote for him because romeny votes are only basically anti obama anyway, even I could get that vote, buT RP has the most loyal supporters and he actuallytakes a ton of independent and democrats away from obama, and he wins the anti war votes s well! vote rp 2012!!!
Ron Paul may have good international policy ideas but he is anti-woman, anti-government provided public education, anti-universal health care via individual mandate. We should each pay to keep each other healthy, to educate each other and to make certain that every baby brought into the world is loved and properly provided for.
breadex "Here in a nutshell is a list of our last Presidents and the percentages of borrowing they did while in office."
Percentages can be very misleading. If I owe one Dollar, and then borrow another Dollar, I've increased my debt by 100%, but it's still just a Dollar. Let's look at actual increases in the National Debt for all of the fiscal years ending during their terms;
Carter = $289 Billion.
Reagan = $1,692 Billion.
Bush 1 = $1,401 Billion.
Clinton = $1,627 Billion (same as Reagan).
Bush 2 = $4,357 Billion over 8 years.
Obama = $5,250 Billion over only 3 years.
Totals for Republican Presidents = $7,450 Billion over 20 years = $372 Billion per year.
Totals for Democratic Presidents = $7,166 Billion over 15 years = $478 Billion per year.
breadex "Roy has been spouting that anti Obama BS for years here. Most of which is a figment of his imagination and lacking facts."
Since I typically reference official government links for my data, and usually reference official Obama White House data, which part of the government data do consider 'lacking facts'?
The only way the economy is going to improve is how much the Obama administration can cheat and steal the numbers to look good. Most people don't care about the numbers, just how they feel and when they see all the fighting in Washington, most look at their work place and realize that it is the "bosses" responsibility to make things work, find common ground, etc, no matter what, so the only way ODUMBO wins is by CHICAGo thug politcs and having all the dead vote, intimidate. It doesn't help that he acts like an arrogran 'prick", since he is that and the race card doesn't work, because a lot of minorities don't even like him. Blame who ever you want, but Obama is a "LOSER" without total "Pelosi", "Reid", and Rahm Emmanuel to do his dirty work.
OBAMA--WHAT A FRICKIN LOSER, WORST PRESIDENT, WORST IDEALOGUE. God Almighty, even Clinton knew how to work across the aisle and compromise. All OBAMA does is say "MY way or the HIGHWAY", typical "Liberal" tactics.
You couldn't be more on the money Randy. Numbers can be skewed to reflect just about what anyone wants. But it is how well a person feels about their own personal situation that will determine how they vote.
None of us knows for sure if things will change very much for the average American in the coming year. Unless that were to happen, President Obama will have a tough road to hoe regardless of who the GOP challenger is.
Randy whatever your number is, you clearly don't really read any actual news or information. It is Mitch McConnell and the republicans who have said 'our way or the highway'....and that they will do anything to ensure that Pres. Obama fails, even at the expense of the country as a whole. Obama knows how to compromise (and has angered his own base doing so in an attempt to make things happen in our broken political system) and he knows how to negotiate, but no one can negotiate with lunitics, so there you have it...let us pray that the lunitics don't win the while house in November.
Obviously, not every stays current with the facts....
The other Randy is an idiot....
Randy you need to read something else besides faux news, I love your revisionist history it really bugs you that a black man is POTUS get used to it there's four more years coming
If you can't recognize that the President who blew off the warning of 9/11 and went immediately into hiding in its' wake then followed that with the launch of a nine year war on the wrong country allowing the 9/11 architect to escape capture for eight years in the unfocused "right" war and collapsed the national economy in the worst way since the Great Depression on his way out the door with the rest of his economic policies was the worst President we've ever endured it then makes complete twisted sense that you would seek to continue that same demented course with Willard at the helm and not reconize that you've seen the movie before.
Doublewide, Obama is more white than black. In a mixed race union, the caucasian genes are dominant. The race card doesn't fly.
National debt when Obama took office 10,000,000,000.00+/-. Current national debt- 15,000,000,000.00 +/-. That's a 50% increase in 3 years. The most of any president and Congress EVER.
Fact: the Democrats had a super majority in Congress ( both houses0 from 2006 until 1010. The job of the president is to present a budget to the Congress. The Congress then amends, alters and adds or subtracts, until they pass a budget. Obama has yet to submit a budget.
Fact: the Republicans have a majority in the House. They have sent 15 jobs bills to the senate ( most with democrat backing). Reid has summarily "tabled" every one of them. For the uninitiated, table means kill the bill.
Fact: even the most liberal polls and media agree the unemployment is actually around 20%. Thousands have fallen off of their benefits, and are no longer counted.
Fact: the tremendous surge of foreclosures could have been avoided if the Government had the cojones to tell the banks to put all ARM's back to what they were the day the mortgage was signed.
First off...I have a mixed child and he is always classified as being black. So I dont know where you get that "white genes are dominant" rhetoric. Secondly, provide some links to all of these so-called jobs bills that the GOP has pushed. All Ive seen them arguing for is the pipeline that all of us who are educated know will create less than 100 permanent jobs. Third the national debt would be even greater if the money wasnt borrowed to pay the bills, because the USA would have been downgraded even further and interest on our debt would have gotten out of hand. Ask any independant economist. The numbers don't lie as well as politicians. Fourth, it stands to reason that the numbers from today would be larger than at any other time since our economy and population has grown exponentially and is now larger than it ha ever been. Let me guess, that's Obama's fault too right? And to further disprove that second point about how fast the debt has grown...we had a surplus when GWB took over. By the time he left we were 10 trillion in the hole. Left the way he had us going it stands to reason that we would have been worse off had nothing at all been done to stop the bleeding.
Why dont you go and do some real research so you can make intelligent arguments. Because all you have done here is regurgitate outdated arguments that have already been factually disproved. And I dont mean by any member of the media. I mean by actual fact-checking...
Randy, no one knows more on how to munipulate numbers than the Republican Party. It was done for Bush in Florida, and again for him by hiding the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Once the Obama administration added those cost to the deficit, yes, it skyrocketed. Mr. Obama, has been challenged every step of the way by the Republican party, and yet you say it's his way or the high way...No, it has been the Republican parties way or no way at all. The economy is in this state because of the Republicans that you all elected and it will be even worse come November, when you all elect one for President. But I believe that no matter who beats Mr. Obama, and how badly they take from the poor, you all will be satisfied and say he's doing the best he can all because you just didn't want a black man to be re-elected. Mr. Obama has done the best he can with so much opposition from the other party, and yet, he continues to be set in is overall objective, and that is the American People. The former President Bush would have hissy fits when he didn't get his way, yet, Mr. Obama is arrogant? Please, don't confuse frustrated with arrogance. He's frustrated with how his opposition won't give a little to help this country. When Corporations report 200% income and the economy is sinking. So, you continue to put the money into wealthy Americans pockets, yes, go right ahead. And once more thing, you are wrong that Black Americans don't like Mr. Obama, we've just decided to wait until November to show you all that no matter what, we will always support our President, just as you supported Mr. Bush.
oldmanyoungeyes,
good for you! fools who think the current resident in the WH is not over his head, hate it when you show them the truth. the truth is they can't handle the truth, and that "truth" is this guy is a total failure. If you look at the workforce by 2007 standards, the unemployment rate is nearly 20%.
Anne40 -- thank you!! I find it cute that all the repubs/conservs conveniently forget that Bush had a separate "ledger sheet" for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and that those numbers were never included in the total debt figures that Bush released during his administration. Is it any suprise that when you add-in the war debt the deficit skyrockets!
Umm, oldman, I suggest you take a genetics class before you start spouting silly things about caucasian genes. Maybe some economics classes too, and perhaps some history...but the genetics would be good so you might understand that caucasian genes aren't amazingly dominant...lol. How funny you think that and actually base part of your political beliefs on it..lol. Reading the rest of your post I see it clearly..lol.
Once again I say I would never vote for a guy that believes that magic angels delivered gold plates to Joseph Smith under a tree. Bottom line, Obama is doing the best he can with what the republicans left us, Obama please in 2012.
I am offended that Cowboy Ooops relies on his professed piety to suck in the meager votes his is able to scrounge up.
Consistent with that observation, I don't think we should be tethering TwoBit Mitt's suitability for the Presidency with his professed religion. Practicing religion is an act of faith so it is not appropriate or productive for a non-believer to critique someone else's religion.
And that is why the Democrats are doing their best to make Romney front runner! Romney helped Obama draft the Health Care law. Are people in New Hamsphire stupid? 62 percent of the voters are or have amnesia. RomneyCare and Alcohol, Caffeine, and Tobacco prohibition along with the teaching of Joesph Smith even though the Bible told us to beware of false prohpets.
We are slowing slipping away into the Rapture. The good will be imprisioned, and fast themselves to death. Romney, and the Nanny State politicians will be left behind.
I am a doubting Thomas because I don't like where this country is going or has gone when it comes to politics because it continuously involves religion. As a christian I am very doubtful about a mormon running our country if it has to come down to religion. Their faith and beliefs are non christian from what I have read and therefore I don't care if Romney is elected as the republican candidate, he won't get my vote. Also, I feel he has purposely misled the Hispanic community concerning his hispanic family ties, and if he is ashamed of that, what else is he hiding. Much to be desired. At least we know what we have in Obama because he and his family have been scrutinized to the hilt, now give him a chance to undo what 8 years of having a republican in the White House. Give Obama the 8 years it will take to put a dent into the destruction that the Bush administration admitted to when he called McCain and Obama into the White House to tell them what they would inherit. This is how republicans work, not in our best interest, give President Barack Obama a chance to change what he promised and it will take his full 8 years. You can't loose anything more than what you have lost because of the republican administration. Look at what they are doing in congress and the senate whenever they can, putting up blockades to help the rich, wake up america and smell the coffee it is brewing, and with the republicans it is boiling for sure.
Suzanne,
Wise comments. What I also find very troubling is this continual attempt to link religion to politics. I also find it interesting that we let a couple relatively small States with far from a representation of national demographics, set the tone for elections. It is asinine.
I think Romney is most likely to end up with the nomination because the other choices are so obscure. The irony is that if Democrats were forced to choose a President out of the Republican field, the clear, resounding choice would be Romney. Think about it.
Maybe in fact, that is what the Republican power brokers are thinking about. Clearly his money is coming from somewhere and it isn't from $10 donations of dedicated supporters. Romney has a history of behaving a lot like a weak Democrat even though he may deny it now. The people with money know that Romney can be manipulated and that is what makes him a great choice. His history of holding many Democratic positions in his past could just possibly make him a tolerable alternative to those disillusioned with Obama. The big money in this country wants someone they can mold and manipulate to do their bidding. They have had pretty limited success at doing that with Obama. Romney offers them what they need and the average conservative, (if such a thing actually exists anymore), will be suckered in.
I don't know why that's crazier than believing in talking bushes or rising from the dead. In any case, Huntsman is the most intelligent and positive of the bunch. Exactly why Republican voters are ignoring him. Sad really.
Hope all you want folks. THat ja ck as s in the white house has 10 months left. 103% of GDP , Greece 106%. Keep printing and you will find out what this country will look like in a few years.
Huntsman only looks intelligent and sane because of the group he's in. Take him out of that group and look at his "wise" business moves to China at the expense of workers in the US but very helpful to the execs and their wallets.
Please is the key word.
You must have forgotten, obamy had control of the house and senate for over 2 years and did nothing but b/s the people about jobs. His getting the troops out of irac was already started by bush before he became president. He is a puppet for the muslims to bring this country down and allow shria law to take effect.
How ignorant and ridiculous you sound. Stop watching Fox News and educate yourself.
Yevrah, put down the crack pipe.
If this is the best that Obama can do then we definitely need a new leader. And what the republicans left is nothing to compared to what the democrats of the '90s left; ie, the credit crisis.

Don't do that. You're suspended for a day for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
Where is the story? Republicans voted because they want to defeat Obama. That's not news. Independents liked Romney over the other candidates except Ron Paul did well, too. The news would be why the independents chose to vote when they didn't have to do a thing. Did they vote in larger numbers than in the '08 GOP primary? Did they vote because they wanted to see Romney as the nominee? Maybe Romney's get out the vote efforts were tailored toward them as opposed to working to convincing hard core conservatives to vote and vote for Romney. This story needs better analysis.
Allow me to fill in for the story by sharing how I think the process will proceed.
Though nobody dropped out after this primary, we can expect the field to shrink after SC. Romney is polling well there, around 11% more than the other candidates. The more conservative candidates are hanging their hopes on SC and maybe FL. I think we can expect Perry to drop out after SC, Gingrich and Santorum after FL. Huntsman was hanging his hopes on NH and finished third. I can't say when he will drop out, but it will be soon. The voters don't need another Romney.
Ron Paul may be set up to run as an independent. NH proves that there is strong moderate support for him. I expect he will see pretty dismal results in SC and FL, which may be the catalyst for him to drop out.
Exit polling shows that Romney isn't really getting conservatives excited, but this isn't news if you've been following the primary even a little. It is often said that Republicans don't fall in love, they fall in line. If SC goes to Romney (and I think it will), I believe it will be confirmation of the old saying and will all but cement him as the nominee.
In a general election, conservatives will hold their nose and back Romney because he isn't Obama. Without Ron Paul, it will be a really close race. If Ron Paul runs as an independent, he will take more votes from Romney than he will from Obama, which will all but elect Obama for another term.
I disagree with your opinion. There are sooo many dems that are ready for something else and that something else is Ron Paul. Also, the voters that came out in droves to make history by electing obama are not going to show up this year!
P.S These primaries and exit polls only show how the republicans who vote in the primary will vote - that excludes about 2/3 of the people who will actually vote in November.
Right now they are playing politics - they fear Ron Paul because he represents the people & trust me they fear the people! case in point patriot act & NDAA.
oldmanyoungeyes,
good for you! fools who think the current resident in the WH is not over his head, hate it when you show them the truth. the truth is they can't handle the truth, and that "truth" is this guy is a total failure. If you look at the workforce by 2007 standards, the unemployment rate is nearly 20%.
Oh Crystal, you are so wrong. Dems will vote for Obama. The ones I know who are upset with him are upset because he is not far left enough for them. There is no way they will vote for Paul even though I know you really want to believe that to be true. PAul is not electable.
Crystal 5,
If Romney is too conservative dems won't vote for him. If Ron Paul is on the ticket, dems won't vote for him. Ron Paul is best identified as a Libertarian. He's too conservative for the average Democrat. Where he stands the best chance is with the independent voters who are sick of the same Democrat/Republican parade. But because he is more conservative, he will take more votes from Romney as an Independent than he will Obama.
As for Democrat disenchantment with Obama, it is a force to be considered. Disappointed Democrats will sit this one out if they aren't motivated enough to keep Romney out of the White House. If Romney goes further right, I believe the incentive will be there and folks will come out. And I believe Romney will go further right to finish the primaries. The number of people sitting it out won't be bigger than Ron Paul being on the ticket as an Independent. Many people will vote for Paul if he is on the ticket, he may actually secure about 8% of the popular vote. But that's mostly Romney's 8%.
Also the NH primary doesn't exclude 2/3 who will vote. NH has a semi-open primary, so unenrolled independent voters can vote in the Republican primary. That is where Romney and Paul got a lot of support from.
Ron Paul is almost as big an idiot as Obama. I particularly don't care for Romney his religion has no bearing on his qualifications I'm no
Well, I voted for Obama last time BUT Ron Paul has my attention and will have my vote.
Yes! Ron Paul for presidential nominee!
A guaranteed victory for Obama!
I don't think Catholics know what the Mormon religion is. A little internet research states that they believe they cannot get into their highest form of heaven without having multiple wives. They charge 5k to be baptized into their religion. Their children recruit young girls to relocate to Wyoming and Utah. Am I wrong? Sounds to me like the guy who made-up their religion in the 1850s just wanted to pull in some cash and have lots of women. Not wonder they are called a cult. Romney needs to address this religion thing.
Given the fact that Mormons don't practice polygamy, than if your suggestion is correct than Mormons do not believe they can obtain the "highest form of heaven" But being a Mormon and knowing a lot of them, they do believe they can obtain the "highest form of heaven" as you call it while having one wife. So either the Mormons don't know what they believe or you are the person that does not know what they believe. What is more likely? I tend to believe that people know what they believe better than than anyone else. Perhaps you should do more than just do a "little internet searching" as that is causing you to be quite lazy on your analysis. And charging 5000 dollars for baptism. Are you that insane. So how do poor people living in 3rd world countries get baptized when they can't come up with 500 bucks let alone $5000. No Romne does not need to address anything. For some people, they are too stupid that they don't care what he says. They have already made up their mind after coming to conclusions relying on bogus information.
Wrong on so many levels it'd be a waste of time to even try correcting you. Crumple and toss.
Campfireman, no you do not know what members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints believe. Members are not charged anything to join our Church. While some organizations such as the FLDS may be attempting to get young girls to join their religion for the purpose of multiple wives, this has not been a tenant of the LDS since the late 1800's. I have one wife and I work hard to be a God fearing individual and I will either make it to the highest kingdom or not depending on how I live. If you look at the definition of a cult, and then compare it with the LDS, you would see that there is no way that we qualify as a cult. We are family oriented, helping oriented, lovers of our country, [whichever country it may be] and we serve all. You might also want to truly check out our Church welfare system - it works much better than Washington's attempts to give everything to everyone without anyone having to do anything.
Being an ex-Mormon myself, I know first hand what their practice and beliefs are. My son as a young boy subjected to multiple Baptisms by proxy, in the names of dead people. The Mormon Church teaches that they alone are the one true Church on the face of the Earth today. They believe that otherChristian Baptisms are not valid. They send so called missionaries door to door, trying telling people that their Religious beliefs are wrong and tha the only way is their way. They teach that the book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, just as sacred as the Bible. They except the racist teachings of Brigham Young. I Believe that everyones faith is their true faith and that the Mormons should stop trying to steal and undermind other denominations.
Camp, I was raised a Catholic and went to the Mormon church for a while. I don't see what Romney needs to address. During my time with the Mormons I found them kind pious people who are looking to help bring others into their flock. That is no different than the missionaries that go to other countries preaching the Bible to the natives.
Some of the more Orthodox Mormons still practice the mutliple wife thing, but that's not the true core of the Mormon religion.
As for Mormons being racist, I saw none of that at the church I attended. There were black people, hispanics, and probably a few others I didn't notice right away who were fondly greeted and treated well among the congregation.
Myself, I feel more secure with a Man running our country whose religious beliefs are fundamentally the same as my own than I do with a Man whose Minister cried out "GOD DAMN AMERICA" after 9/11. But that's just me.
@8.1, it's not so simple as saying that either Mormons don't know what they believe or else Campfireman doesn't know what they believe. The fact is, Mormon beliefs and practices, as well as the Book of Mormon, have changed several times in the brief 150-ish year history of the church.
It is not an attack on Mormons or their faith to point out the history of these changing beliefs. Polygamy was in, then out, then in again, then out again. And when it was "in", it wasn't simply allowed or tolerated, it was taught to be a "must do."
@8.5 -- Janine, you're right, it's not fair for people to assume that the past official racism of the Mormon church has anything to do with what they practice and preach today. The church used to ban black men from being ordained into the priesthood, but they changed that rule way back in 1978.
The Book of Mormon also used to say that black people's dark skin was because they were cursed by God, but I don't know if the latest edition still says that. The book had been modified many times during it's history, and they might have changed it after the "revelation" in 1978, when they decided that black people were not so horrible after all.
I served with several Mormons and found them to be very committed and very good friends.
My stout christian father told me when I was young, "The devil goes to church".
I was somewhat amazed to find the truth in that statement when I got a little older.
JollyOldSoul1 - Greetings! Just wanted to let you know that I am alive and well! Keep up the good fight! I support your comments with my vote every single time!
I have known quite a few Mormons and found them to be good people, dedicated to their families and the community. My next door neighbor for several years was a Mormon and was a good friend. Great folks, really. All but one...as a Baptist, I played 1st base on a church league softball team and got positively flattened by a Mormon runner when I stepped in his base line to catch a throw from 3rd. He was safe and I was out for 5 minutes. But I would have done the same thing...
They're just people, like all of us.
all religions are made up(AND MAKE CHANGES AS THEY GO) - period - now this mormon thing is really out there -this tree with angels and higher forms of heaven and many wives ( give me a break)- you want to live a good life and have love and respect for your country - fine ( after all it is the one truth) - you know reality - where you know you actually exist - all the rest of these silly beliefs are nonsense and mumbo jumbo - it should not play a role in public life - period -amen
Janine,
you explained it very well. Thank you.
I am not a Mormon but I believe you when you describe it.
Romney is a good family man and a will make a terrific President.
I liked what he said last night....... "I will NEVER apologize for the greatest nation on earth."
The Book of Moroni is that "missing chapter" that Joseph Smith foisted upon the feeble minded in a small village in upstate NY back in the 1800s. It is appropriate that it would be called the book of Moroni - since only morons would believe that schlock, coming from a known fraudster. Smith started this nonsense in his 20s, and before then, he was known in the community for being a huckster and a teller of tall tales. Suddenly he is a prophet? It took a group of dedicated morons to build that little fraud into the abomination it is today. Any changes from the original tenets of the "group" - such as polygamy - came only under intense pressure from the rest of the people they were forced to deal with. They were pushed as far away as Utah (a wild, uninhabited place back in the early 1800s) because they were considered so perverse.
These golden plates weren't seen by anyone, but 11 of Joseph Smith's buddies attested to their existence. Then, that MORONi angel came and took those darn tablets back up to heaven (gold being so valuable and all). How convenient! No evidence - perfect for the morons - I mean mormons - to have something to believe in by that ever so strong and unassailable virtue of "faith" - an irrational thought process that fraudsters depend upon to foist their schemes on the morons - er.. gulliable.. um... Mormons.
And heres some more interesting things about Mr. Smith. He was brought up by a batsh!t crazy family, during a batsh!t crazy time. The region he was living in was in the middle of an evangelical craze, and pastors regularly travelled through with those revival tent fiery speeches, looking for converts. Back in the day, on a Saturday evening, there wasnt much for kids to do, and these things were interesting to them, especially when part of a batsh!t crazy family. You see, at the time, this villiage was also going through a treasure hunting fever for some reason, and the weirdos of the village (the ones who would probably dress up as Goths today) believed in seer stones. That is, they would use some random but interesting looking stone, pop it in the popular black silk stovepipe hat of the day, stick their head on it, and concentrate REAL hard until "visions" came to them about where to find buried treasure. I suspect they may also have wandered about in the cow pastures looking for those special little mushrooms to also help them have these "visions". Psylocibin can be a great help when you have your head buried in a big smelly hat waiting for "visions" from a rock. Needless to say, nobody found treasure this way - nobody that is, but our old story-telling, fame-seeking slimeball Smith. Yep, HE saw those golden plates! AND he supposedly had them in his possession for quite some time, hiding them here, hiding them there - in a bucket of flax, in a barrel of beans - under a hearth, in a wood shed. Yes indeed - they even were at times left covered in cloth on a table - yet nobody else - except for a few close buddies of his, ever actually saw them. AND - also - there were other artifacts he found - a sword, a breastplate, and some nifty eyeglasses with seeing stones instead of lenses. I kid you not. Of course, nobody ever saw these things, and good ol MORONi came back to take it all away.
The stories go on and on - you can find this stuff on Wikipedia and lots of other places. All the Mormon cult is, is a testament to the gulliability of men. But this happened in relatively recent times, and its so clear to see how absurd all of this is. Yet there are millions who fall for this nonsense! Its frightening indeed, and I want NObody who is involved with this cult anywhere near the highest position in this country. Anymore than I want a scientologist, or a psychic card reader sitting in the white house.
I dont want an evangelical in there either. Its entirely BS that they can separate their religion from their decisions. If that were the case, then why even cleave to that religion? Because failure to follow its tenets in all aspects of an individuals life, means damnation. So what is it Romney - are you a damned Moron - I mean Mormon - or a devouted Moron - I mean Mormon.
And the same question goes for Perry, and any other devout religious ones, but especially the ones moronic enough to fall for Moronism - I mean Mormonism.
Oh - but it gets worse - MUCH worse. Because you see, theres two kinds of morMons. The ones who faithfully, gulliably believe in all that claptrap, and the ones who know better.. the cult is a very frightening one indeed, and there could be very dark and nefarious intentions behind it all. You see - During the 1820s, Smith's upstate New York was anti-masonic. They felt strongly that there was something wrong with these secretive organizatons. Yet, wow - would ya look at that.. our ol' Smith, by the 1840s, was a Freemason, along with some of his close buddies! Why, they even formed a lodge! - their own special Nauvoo lodge, that combined traditional occult freemason symbols with newly cooked up MorMon symbols. A special variety of MorMon freemasonry. How special. Oh but it gets better...
seems when one of the head honchos (the Illinois Grandmaster) of Masonry set eyes on good ol smith, he inducted him into formal Masonry on the spot, thus making it unneccessary for him to go through the long and arduous and absurd process of working through the first three degrees of Masonry. An exceedingly rare honor.
Little known fact - Mormon temple garments bear the Masonic symbol of the Square and Compass.
Guys, it goes on and on and on. Go ahead and study for yourself.
There are two kinds of Mormons, just as there are two kinds of Freemasons. The rank and file "useful idiots" and those within the inner circle.
I suspect this smacks more of malevelent forces diguising themselves as Angels of Light than anything truly pure.
Whats more, if there is any fact at all in the tall tales of Smith, it aint good. The Moroni stories refer to aliens. To space beings. To Jesus and Satan being space brothers, and that there are millions of Gods on millions of planets. Its truly bizarre. Aliens, people... Elohim lives on a mysterious "star" (not planet) called Kolob! and he was the father of both Jesus and Lucifer! Its nutsy.
Oh, lets not forget - that some of Elohim's children that displeased him were cursed with black skin - uh.... racist much, Smith?
You cant make this stuff up (unless youre Smith, that is). Now I think there are two kinds of Mormons. The rank and file who dont know any better - the useful idiots - and the ones in the inner circle who know damned well that its a big sham. Same with the Freemasons. Mormons and Freemasons are sized up very closely to determine if they are going to rise in the ranks to know just what the deal is - that both are forms of control and good ol boy networks. I can assure you, Romney is in the inner circle. Theres nothing Christian, or compassionate about this crazy business. They are scary indeed - and if there is anything supernatural that has gone on, it has more to do with aliens and things not traditionally of the Judeo-Christian religion.
Just in that one point alone, Smith was very smug and determined to control the gulliable masses. Thats why the Freemasons liked him so very much, because thats how THEY operate too. They saw a damned manipulative genius in Smith.
So long story Short, do you really want anyone with money, power, and the ability to dismantle companies to make a quick buck, who also is deep into Mormonism (and Freemasonism) to be sitting in the White House? I try to avoid things like biblical prophecy and such - but if ever there could be abomination sitting in a high place, it would be a Mormon in the White House.
No thinking man can be part of this religion, unless he is privy to its darker secrets the likes of which are New World Order scary, and he agrees with these deeper secrets, and is part of the plan.
Watch out for Romney, and Mormons. Its WORSE than Scientology, which is a scam to make money. No, Mormonism is a bid to control and a bid for power. Not so much money, but control.
It is serious, and just dismissing it as "people have the right to choose whatever they want to believe" is not a reason to ignore the fact that what you believe also affects your actions. Do you want a Satanist in the White House? Hows about a Heaven's Gater, assuming they hadnt all poisoned themselves?
Romney is not mentally fit for office - because he IS a Mormon. He is scary, people.. dangerous.
bluegrassguitar- even a Satanist can be a "friendly neighbor". Good person is not good enough when you know that the basic beliefs are as out there as you can get. The man in the White House has to be rational, has to be intelligent. Believing in Smith's nonsense indicates serious irrationality. And not eschewing that based upon family history exhibits lack of courage, or personal commitment. And being part of the inner circle of Mormonism (and Freemasonry by extension) indicates something very sinister - about power, control, and things I dare not breach here. Just remember - Smith's book of Moroni talks about millions of planets, millions of Gods, Space children. Moroni an angel? IF Smith encountered anything on that hill, it wasnt a Judeo-Christian angel. It was something more.. Science Fiction. Be careful - the Mormons are a dangerous bunch. The inner circle is secretive, and riddled with arcane rituals and occult symbolism. Friendly doesnt mean a thing. How do you think Scientologists get their victims, or even Manson or Jim Jones? By promising good things. By offering "love" and "acceptance". But Mormons mostly are an in-the-family thing. Once born a Mormon, good luck leaving that "fold" if you ever want to still be part of your own family. Ostracizing is common.
These comments about Mormonism lead me to believe that those making them wouldn't know enough about true Mormonism to fill a thimble. They, like the Pharisees of old, just look for the "bad" in life, and when they can't find it--they just make it up. I think your really upset because last time, Huckabee "stepped in it" when he went after Romney's religion in a debate, and it ended up costing him (Huckabee) his run for the White House. Nobody likes cheap shots.....especially uninformed ones. As far as Obama goes.....he couldn't even get out of the starting blocks with respect to his faith....Am-I-Wright-or-am-I-Wright-or-am-I-Wright??? lol
Wow, strengthinnumbers you seriously need some therapy for your hate issues
Andrew, this isnt hate - this is FACT! Look it up! This scares the heck out of me!
You know, when you see a freight train baring down on you - you GET OFF THE TRACKS!
You dont stand there and think - OOOH! Shiny Train!
well, maybe YOU do.
I calls em like I sees em. I worry about people like YOU who cant see how dangerous such an individual could be!
If we must put being politically correct and accepting of all things just because it wears the label "religion" then welcome to what this is all about. Mind control. It works.
Search it out intellectually, and then ask yourself. You really want someone who is thinking this way, or involved in this, in the White House? Im sorry, but religious belief does not get some kind of immunity from rational thought in my books. I feel the same way about an evangelical Christian, or a practicing Muslim. I dont want either of THOSE sitting in the White House either.
Strength in numbers- So, you are more secure with a Muslim at the helm? Muslim vs Mormon, not a tough choice for America. Reverend White vs John Smith, America will make the right choice this time!
strengthinnumbers you hit the nail right on the head ! People of the U.S.A. need to look up what he said,it is true ! I live in Arizona and we have a huge Mormon population and those people are nuts ! Mormonism is a CULT.
Further, Andrew - its not hate issues - its FEAR issues. I fear for this country. Religion is irrational. It is dangerous. I dont care what flavor it comes in. It is about division. The best president is one who believes in some higher force, but chooses not to take sides. The more devout in one religion, the more dangerous. But then you can have some that espouse no belief in some higher something out there. That too is dangerous. Bottom line is this. What you believe deep down in your soul, you will act upon. Thats the whole "ye shall know them by thier fruits". And Romney's fruits are pretty foul. Dismantling businesses for a quick buck, putting thousands out of work. Thats what he did with Bain.
And Smith, the one who founded that whole crazy cult Romney ascribes to, what kind of fruit did that nutcake grow? His whole bunch of child marrying polygamizing sickos was driven from one state to the next, yet curiously, embraced by one organization that was highly mistrusted at the time, the freemasons.
I wont walk around with blinders on because of fear of being labeled intolerant or hateful or any other nonsense. I see what I see, it alarms me, and I will remain a rational individual who calls out what I see as disturbing.
And Mormonism is DISTURBING. Most will agree. And stand up and dont be afraid to call it as you see it. That takes courage. Also, I have a problem with Islam, because of its raging mysogeny. Any religion that forces a woman to cover herself from foot to head, in an arid hot climate, is dysfunctional.
And I dont stop there. Catholocism, Evangelical Baptists, on and on it goes. Theres very few religions that dont bare the scar of man's ignorance of the true nature of "God"
TEXSON - how about i do not care about anyones faith - be smart , be able to commuicate , have good judgement , know the details , and make decisions etc leave your freakin faith out of it - its all made up nonsense anyway - speaking of faith how come santorum got buried - yeah ok i want a guy who believes in angels , and spirits and miracles and praying and heaven and hell to make sure jobs get created- make no sense - and slowly but surely people or the ones that evolve anyway are getting it - or palin or bachman or perry or santorum would be in the lead
Strength in numbers- So tell us, what candidate do you Atheists support?
I can't believe how much dis-information there is out there about Mormons. I've been a convert for 26 years and before I converted I read every anti and the entire Bible to disprove what I was being told. Book of Mormon has nothing in it about Black, It's about darker skin Indians verses White. This could very well be caused by interbreeding with three different migration of people to the Americans along with the Laminite group had a servant family(to Hebrews) which followed them. The church wasn't taken to Africa because it didn't have a organization there so why send missionaries. Now what we believe. Any person in the world can obtain the highest degree. God loves all of his children and doesn't punish those in China or Old Russia because they haven't been taught about Jesus. They will be taught it and given a chance to accept or reject and it's doesn't have to happen in this life as long as you live a good life. No charge for joining although one is expected to learn sacrifice by pay tithing. Only twice in all my years have I heard mocking of another religion and even then it wasn't from a leader and I felt like going under the pew. I once was asked to talk at the Methodist Church and they were surprised how much respect we have for other christian denominations. If it wasn't for Catholic's no other Christian would even be here. It wasn't the book of Moroni, that is in the book of Mormon it was the book of Lehi which was stole while being written into English. Joseph Smith was 15 and the stories about his stories was made up years after his murder by non Mormons. Polygamy was a Welfare issue and only 7%at the highest practiced it. The Church asked you to do it for those who could afford it. Missouri extermination order for Mormons in 1838 pushed some into Polygamy. One reporter a couple of days ago on MSNBC said Romney is the closes Mormon to the Whitehouse. That comment was incorrect. Joseph Smith meet with President Van Buren over the kill Mormons on site law of Missouri. 10,000 Mormons lived in western Missouri and most was from England or New England and was against slavery. An election was coming up and Governor Boggs was a slave owner and wanted Mormons out of his state before the Election. Letters also went from Gov.Ford of Illinois to the White house along with the territorial Gov.of Iowa say this Missouri law was against the constitution. Missionaries do not target young women. Actual they are not allowed in there house unless it is a Sister Missionary or Someone from the local ward or branch goes with them. Mitt Romney is more conservative than many think. My Sister lives in Massachusetts and it is one of the most liberal state in the country. Romney was elected by the people of Massachusetts so he had to moderate a little. As to the Freemason Symbols. Look up the order of St. John from Malta. Early Christian who practiced in temples in the third century move there to get away from Vatican persucution the Night Templer found many of these thing there and they began the Mason's. So you can trace some of these back to the Hebrew Temple that Christ so love that he most agree moment was there. So you can say which came first Mormon Temple work of Mason's. Can anyone out there tell me what went on inside the Hebrew Temple before the Greeks polluted it. No, It was sacred and not written.
smart ones - you know the ones that do not believe and run their lives based on fairy tales and spirits in the sky and angels and miracles and pray you know all that nonsense designed to keep the ignorant and known thinkers in line
StrengthInNumbers- People hate to face the truth, I agree with you regarding the Mormons. Most people do not research a religion before joining one, they somehow get caught up in the tall tales and lies spun by the orators trying to recruit the unsuspecting. Aside from the Mormons many other religions have dubious beginnings and I would be leery of anyone who came across as too much of a religious zealot. On another note, this November’s election will be the first time, since I began voting 30 years ago, that I will have absolutely no confidence in whoever becomes elected. Whichever Republican hopeful wins the nomination out of that mixed bag of nuts will not be able to lead this country to a resurgence of prosperity and we already know that Obama was unable to fulfill his promises. So all in all, we’re screwed.
When you LOSE in november we expect you to behave yourself... unlike the last four years jackass!!
Obama made political suicide when he passed the NDAA bill. Sort of like when President Hoover decided to use military force to remove protesting veterans from the white house. When people heard the quiet news it was all over for Hoover quickly. Ron Paul is the only person who legitimately has a chance in beating Obama, this is why liberals like MSNBC are so quick to hand Romney the throne. The reality is the pundits in the so called news channels (whose job seems to make news rather than report it) hold zero credibility. The GOP should be feeding Dr. Paul golden grapes, especially since he does have the power to end he GOP nomination by simply running independent. This is a two man race.
Now there's a joke! The GOP is scared to death of Ron Paul. He is not a right-wing-nut-job Republican that bows to Sara's extortion of Oil companies in Alaska. He is a libertarian and some consider his views rather radical. For instance on military bases overseas: "It's not the Government's job to police the World" On abortion: "It's not Government's business" On Finance: "Dismantle the FED they are the problem" On Earmarks: "No" The GOP would never stand for it! Personally I agree with Ron Paul on a lot of issues. In light of the fact that he probably won't win an election because he makes too much sense, Obama has been very level headed centrist and in spite of the GOP stonewalling at the expense of the American people he has still accomplished a great deal. Ended the war in Iraq that Bush started, caught Bin Laden(Bush failed to), guided democratization in Libya without engaging the U.S. in a war, set the first ground work ever for a comprehensive health care reform(all other presidents failed at it including Clinton), ......
Romney's job creation program is to build up the war machine which will create jobs in our military so while he cuts other government jobs and save money, he will create more enlistment jobs and spend even more. History has proven that the corporate puppets always spend more when they get into the White House.
If Romney gets the white house, we will be in a war with Iran or North Korea is less than six months....Old and poor people will be living on the streets without health insurance and social security, and middle class people will become the new "poor"....Romney don't give a damn about the people; He just wants the title and the power..The republicans and the tea party would rather see this country go to hell than let President Obama get another 4 years in office and they are too damn stupid to see they are voting against their own interest and livelyhood....The only ones who will flourish in this country will be the wealthy....I hope the silent majority of voters in this country see what's really going on and vote these despicable republicans out of office in every capacity..One republican in office is one too many....
Santorum? The people of NH have spoken
Silly religious nut bag show over, dude
Get lost and take all your ugly fetuses with you
justina...agree. And Romney took 45% of the Catholic vote. Interesting for Santorum don't you think?
phine, both Santorum and Newt came in at around 10% in NH
Both of them will get crushed in SC and FL too
My good guess is that the Catholic vote flocked over to Mitt because they know Gingrich and Santorum are undeniably Unelectable.
You got problems pal
Ever notice that Bush never gets mentioned ... and neither does Clinton ... and they've toned it down with regards to all of them as the second-coming-of-Reagan with the exception of Noot ...
And they ceratinly never mention Neocon-Tea Bag Filibusters and Obstruction ... but they all sound like the 2010 (R) / Tea Bag Jobs creators ...
He's more like Guy Smiley from Sesame Street. He's definitely one of the Muppets.
incredible ... in for the win ... LOL.
Ugh.... How can anyone vote for this guy? Romney is just a watered-down version of Obama. If it comes down to him vs Obama, Republican voters won't have a real choice at all and Obama will win in a landslide. Wake up Republicans! Do your homework! Once you do, I'm confident that you'll see that Ron Paul is the only candidate (Obama included) that can pull us back from the brink of decline.
Well, the Republican/Teabaggers said, "Anybody, but Obama" Wah-La!
No, its anyone but a socialist/communist renee. There is a reason we have high unemployemnt. It sure isnt more government spending. 103% of GDP and Greece is 106%. Gas and food is out of whack. Housing is in the tank. Only fools and old people who get the scare tactics used on them want to keep this garbage. The housing market gets demolished so we go to unpaid for universal health care, wars, bank bailouts and a consumer protection division controlled by the federal reserve? Wow. You progressives have lost your fr eekn minds.
Jolly you are so thoroughly misinformed it's amazing! The unemployment is high because there is not enough money circulating in the economy. It is being horded by very wealthy people and large corporations. The employment follows the money supply directly. The debt is inconsequential and it will always be there. There are not enough dollars in existence to ever pay off the debt. Get it? Not enough dollar....more debt than dollars that have ever been printed....can ya hear it yet? This is the way the Federal Fractional Reserve Banking system works. When money is created an equal debt is created, but the debt carries interest on it. If you create $10,0000 the debt is $10,000 plus interest. Now take the $10,000 and pay it back. You have zero dollars but still owe interest. Is it making sense yet? The more money you remove from the economy the slower it moves. The correct move is to cause inflation to devalue the dollars the horders are holding. When they start to lose money by holding onto their huge stockpiles, they will be forced to invest, loan, reinvest, and spend. This put more money in circulation and creates jobs. No money in circulation then there are no dollars to earn and no jobs. It's not rocket science!
For true change = Ron Paul 2012!
Put America and Americans first!
MtMike ... lol your post and 79 million votes might grant you your wish. Good luck on that!
Do you live in a dream world? Do you really really think Ron Paul will ever be President? I like him but he is way too out there!
Mitt romney can not win this election, failing to have a viable candidate to vote for, myself and the other Ron Paul supporters will vote for the libritarian ticket,
If you like Ron Pall like you say alu do then READ about him...and not what the MSM tell you about him. If one of our Founding Ftahers wlaked up and slapped you to get your attention...and told you to READ about Liberty vs. Tyranny...you would think they were werid too...now wouldnt you?
So investigate the truth about Ron Paul. He isnt "weird"...he is trying o tell you HOW we can save oursleves by Restoring Our Liberty....by cutting spending...and by getting these criminal beaurocrats OUT of our lives, our pockets and most importantly OUT of our kids futures.
VOTE RON PAUL.
Ron Paul is bat-@!$%# crazy, but he 's a sweet 'olguy,I admire his enchantment with the past of a once consequential nation state.
How come "independents" would vote for a son of money who fakes being a regular person and who's only job was to benefit from the struggles of other Americans? How is that for job creation? Do you independents think that if you put him in the White House, he will suddenly turn his back on his real roots? I know you believe Obama does not represent you, but for Pete's sake, this clown does not represent you either.
Frank, this election coming up has no "Golden Child" On either side. For many people it will be a "Lesser of two evils. After 3yrs of Obozo's incompetence, people will flock to Romney.
Romney who?
The same Romney that was for the president's policies before he conveniently was against them?
Say, how does it make a conservative feel about nominating a closet democrat in their party?
Janine,
You're right on the mark!! 3 years of talk!! We're tired of his big talk, people won't buy it this time around. The Non-Leader, no plan president, is toast!!!
Whoa Frank, you are in danger of telling the truth here my friend. That guy cannot relate to regular folk. He looks uncomfortable unless he is surrounded by his fresh scrubbed wealthy friends.
They ALL make too much money. I say if we really want to change this country we make the average salary for a senator and a member of the house the same as a public school teacher. After all they are public servents. Make it against the law for them to take corporate gifts of any kind. Have the right to FIRE THEM if we feel as a people that they are no doing their jobs that we put them there to do. The president he can get paid just a little bit more but not by much. After all we the people are the ones that have the power to put them there in the first place. They don't have any of our interest in mind ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE POWER OF THE OFFICE and THE MONEY THAT COMES WITH IT!!!!!!
How many of you people writting these comments are really concerned enough about America, to take time out and do some heavy thinking about the fututre of this once great country? It is a shame that we can't get an intellegent Independant to jump in there, to face the country and tell the people, let each of us work hard to gain our rights and be the people who governs this country. Let us get back to the Constitution as it was written and do away with those who want more government sticking their nose in every aspect of our lives. If Obama was really an American, why did he not produce his birth certificate at the very beginning? What can he do about the illegals here, when his own family is illegal. He is a Chicago hoodlum and his contributions are from those he either has done favors for. someone who knows him for what he has actually done or not done. Let's get rid of all who have gotten rich by sucking up to those who could do the most for them. If we don't get really involved now, it could be to late. I have 3 past presidents that I deem the best, F. Roosevelt, D. Eienhower, and R. Reagan. They had the brains and the ability to do what was best for this country. You may not agree and that is your right. But stop thinking party and start thinking country.
m.correll
You had me going, till you brought up the birther issue.
Why? Because it is nonsense; pure propaganda. Same with Kenya, Muslim, Socialist, Marxist, Communist and death panels. After your propaganda from the GOP, you ask to stop thinking party.
You can wallow around in the muck, I'd rather a serious president stay out of it.
Ah......New Hampshire. The land of Sour Cream and bitter primaries.
AND no state income tax OR sales tax! Consistenly ranks as one of the states with the lowest overall tax burden!
I am an Independent. I was a Republican for 35 years. (GWBush was the end for me.) Romney is totally backed by GWBush advisors (that he hired) Cheney, Rove, Daniels, Sununu, Jeb Bush and GHWBush) If Romney is the GOP nominee I will look seriously at Obama. A vote for Romney is a vote to return to Bush policies and I see that as fatal to America. If Romney is elected President we will be invading Iran by this time next year. That is something America cannot afford. It inflates the size of government, the deficit, and above all our children have shed enough blood for the Bush family.
I wish more Republicans thought like you. These times call for all of us to use our heads and stop with this obsession of total amnesia. Maybe you should run for office.
Thats an easy one...NO!
Jollyoldtroll1,figures you are aTea/publican everything is NO! turn off THE LIMPBUGH SHOW or maybe it's the LIARS NETWORK, go outside you need some fresh air. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 HILLARY 2016 YES!
Horse hockey.
Debbie MSNBC,
Really, spoken just like Chris Matthews!!! Do you really want to be identified as MSNBC??
You should shot a hole in your credibility!!!
jerry,
You are so right about "Debbie" being an Msnbc hack ( Msnbc.....WHERE THE "m" STANDS FOR MISLEADING ).
"Debbie" says she was a Repub. and now is an Indep. HAHA Funny that she hates all the Repubs so much and gives a long list of names ( even Sununu and Jebb Bush who are more people even some Dems like) .
DebbieMSNBC, I think it's time for you to run along---far over to the left side of the line.....they're waiting for you.
smokeupyourkeester......if you knew anything at all about jollyoldsoul1.....you would know that he is an Independent which simply means.....it is YOU that does not know what the hell you are talking about!
My mistake, FreeMeNow, I"m an independent that leans to the left 99% of the time !
His title is Lush Dimbulb, complete with lack of degree, even media broadcast...
President Obama's re-election is going to be so easy.
Hope so. I cannot for the life of me think that the populous is brain dead and forgets about the Republican policies that got us to the brink of destruction. Obama had HUGE obstacles and an obstructionist congress that did not let him take a breath. They were and are BRUTAL. Obama MUST be reelected AND better still the House MUST turn blue, those Republican swine governors who bankrupted their states and created SO many jobless must be recalled and defeated. Republicans have NOTHING to offer. They never have and never will but Dems are continuing to take their posteriors out of hot water and then get blamed for doing so Republicans thinking the American memory is about 20 minutes long!
America, take a hint, the Republican Party is NOT about most of you. If you are among the 99% they do NOT care about you...get that through some skulls will ya?
I have read that the Congress & the Senate are going to be filled by a Republican majority in the next elections, making it impossible for Obama to pull off his cockamamie ideas. It might be worth seeing him re-elected to watch him battle both houses. Nah-even that amount of fun and frivolity isn't worth him being in office for 4 more years.
That is very doubtful, the tea party shot the GOP in both feet in 2010. Just look at the new GOP Governors too, they are finished also.
Where Im sitting here in Michgan. Our governor is doing prety good.
Barbara,
if Both Houses go Republican and Obama is President ( next time around).......that will just feed Obama's golf addiction. Haha
Only if we allow ourselves to be McCained again by the media and pick wishy washy Romneycare.
Paul is the only one who has the integrity to take down Obama.
Barbara...there are those of us who considered voting for McCain and Payenliens for the same purposes.
The 1% have spoken and they are divided.
Man I like this right-wing Romney hysteria … especially all the Guvnas who are getting their 15 minutes of fame to drum-up business for the state, like (R-Iowa) Gov. Branstad who babbled in teabagisms in redundancy while his head bobbled too & fro like he has Tourettes or early alzhiemers ...
... and old-neocon former (R-NH) Gov. Sununu … who was crapping his pants declaring Romney as winner of the Whitehouse and the greatest President evar !
Next-up is (R-SC) Gov. Queen *suppress-the-vote* Nikki Haley ... oh the drama !
LOL.
exotix,
I think you mean "suppress the ACORN vote."
Most Americans are all for that.
Leona, you need some new matierial hon. You are about 2 years behind.
The "Acorn Vote?"Leona is Now even more powerful, accurate, registered, and photo ID'd than ever before!! Thanks for the help..
Please don't confuse me with that Obama hating, repub, tea bagger Randy. He doesn't know what he is taliking about.
Obama, like the residue on my toilet paper, will get duly flushed down the political toilet in November.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. America has finally got over the buyer's remorse left from the 2008 election. Obama will be remembered as the author of the Great Obama Depression and all the pain and suffering he has caused.
Memory loss is a serious condition that requires medical attention.
" A mind is a terrible thing to waste"
You're absolutely right.....it's so sad that society couldn't save the minds and morals of the "liberals" in time!
The issue at hand isn't trying to jab at (scare quote) liberals. The issue is a serious lapse in memory that could be a sign of a possibly life-threatening condition. Please have some compassion.
It's no surprise Romney dominated in the Catholic vote category. I have been a member of the LDS Church for 30 years and Catholics are some of the easiest people to talk to about religion and some of the least judgmental. Most of them don't curse people of other faiths.
Not looking good for Obama right now.
Why?? You think were all going to fall for the Romney "Obama is a nice guy but lacks leadership" rhetoric. We are waddling our way out of a near depression that another Republican got us into from 2000-2008 because he was head strong in going into Iraq & Afg. while having tax breaks costing around 4 trillion, leading this country into debt and he has no leadership? You want me to believe that he has failed to create 1 job(Hannity's favorite comment) 321 major infrastructure projects with the initial stimulus and a unemployment rate that stayed steady at 9.1% and is beginning to go down. I know what the response is, it's more like 15% from the underemployed. Thats what happens when certain firms come into a business and downsize and restructure a company to make it not more solvent, but more profitable. Wasn't that Romney's claim to fame??
As a recovering Catholic (once a Catholic, always a Catholic), my vote goes to Obama in 2012...
left-handed,
Are you implying that Democrats don't care about jobs ???? That's what Romney is all about. He's also about NOT apologizing for the U.S.
Romney has a belief that this country is great and deserves acolades for being so.
If we end up with another Obama term, the debt will skyrocket even more and we'll owe our lives and our kids lives to China.
GaboonViper67----I say "Amen" to your comment. All of these "antichrists" are just venting because of the lack of faith and spirit they have in their lives. True believers---of all faiths--just look at the rantings of the miserable and shake their heads sadly....there's not really that much we can do to help them....."Thus, they are left to their own devices....". I think we've had enough "rule" by those who've no time for---nor interest--in God. Let's give the "light on the right" a shot!
Wow, that's pretty crazy, Texson. I know people from all sides of the political spectrum and they all believe in God. Maybe your upset because they don't believe as you believe?
As a current practicing Catholic, my vote goes to....NOT Obama!!!
That's because all you vote for is the "right to life" and that's it. You don't vote on other issues.
So, the Republicans and Tea baggers think that a guy who splits up and sells off companies, thus causing unemployment and pocketing big bucks, so he can make $10,000 bets on a whim, is the guy that's gonna fix the economy? DUHHHHHHHHHH!
Until anyone finds a way to bring back jobs to the U.S away from slave labor markets, the job outlook will not improve, so while were at it, why don't we take Paul Ryan's 6 trillions debt reduction over 10 years and cut entitlements like crazy, and we can take the poor and low middle income and they can live in cardboard boxes or wood cutouts, so this 60% will know where they measure up to the top1%. There's ways to exist, dry dog food for one has protein in it.
See Paul,
Opportunity knocks once again. Why don't you develop a dry dog food cookbook to make that Obama food more palatable??
Cardboard has many uses. So does ducktape. C'mon Paul, time to get proactive, and innovate. President Romney might just give you a medal.
In a recent poll from Florida, weathervane Willard is leading Obama. All you Medicare and Social Security recipients, hope you can afford your medical care after your voucher runs out. He embraces Paul Ryan's plan if you didn't know. Just envision Karl Rove pulling his strings, because that's probably what he'll be doing, just like he did with Bush or maybe there'll be a new Rove. The point is that Willard will be malleable to anybody.
I think Romney was the one who went in and dismantled businesses and send jobs packing overseas for corporate profitibility, created some jobs, destroyed many others. And if he runs the White House like he did the Iowa primaries he spent $49 per vote compared to Santorums 87 cents per vote. Not everything Republican that claims "fiscal" responsibility is truly fiscally responsible.
If people knew and understood the philosophical consistency
and intellectual depth of
Dr. Ron Paul and studied the books of the people from whom he draws his principles, the election would be over and America would be saved.
Although Dr. Paul is sometimes accused of being a Randian, this is a lie. While he mentions her, and
what libertarian wouldn't, he actually draws his beliefs from John Locke, Ludwig Von Mises, Murray Rothbard, Hans Hermann Hoppe, Carl Menger, F.A. Hayek, Randolph Bourne, Lew Rockwell, Raimondo, and others of the Austrian school. When he was asked what book Americans should read he replied, “Bastiat’s ‘The Law.’” What other candidate for political office in the history of the United States ever had the nerve to propose that the U.S. government ought to be BOUND by law?
It is an American shame that most people are ignorant of the arguments these individuals have made for liberty and free markets. Their writings are kept from the American people and our educational establishment so the media can be left to frame debate and manufacture consent for elitist rule. This censorship and media
filtering is a form of thought control.
The ruling class knows it is better off if Americans are divided and spend their time arguing about gay marriage and flag lapel pins as opposed to understanding economic dynamics and demanding a lawful government.
Americans, I beg you. Please educate yourself and discover the questions that need to be asked. Learn how genius economists, statesmen and philosophers have advanced the arguments for liberty and free markets. Read how they have answered questions regarding liberty, peace, property rights and prosperity after having
made the study of economics, history, war, government, philosophy, religion and liberty a lifetime endeavor.
When people understand that all other politicians are statists and corporatists, except for Ron Paul who champions the individual, their choice for whom to elect as president will be made clear. What other candidate authored books like “Liberty Defined”, “A Foreign Policy of Freedom”, “The Revolution, A Manifesto”, “Freedom Under Seige” and “Pillars of Prosperity”? What other candidate would mention Bastiat’s “The Law” on national television? The guy is a true revolutionary for liberty.
When you understand the argument you will finally understand Ron Paul.
Oh boy, most people only know how count the money they wish they had, they couldn't afford the trip to a library much less buy and waste the time ready those books, they want a good paying job and a little security for their family and their old age.
Joseph Zrnchik-
You make the case for Paul, but it seems he is more John the Baptist, a voice crying in the wilderness. The characterization of Paul as "a true revolutionary for liberty" could perhaps use some more qualification. The same words have been used by adherents of Mao, Che, and others that so many of Paul's supporters find evil.
All that "free" market stuff works well in a land where greed does not exist. Otherwise, regulation and oversight are required.
No one disagrees that oversight is required, but regulations are not a black and white issue. Some regulations that politicians write can be just as harmful as not having ones that are needed. We need the proper amount of sensible regulation.
Ron Paul's extreme foreign policy might sound good, but could be a dangerous strategy.
There's no way a unilateral free market economy in the US is going to function in competition with a global economy and otherwise controlled economies Ron Paul is an isolationist dreamer. Has he ever lived anywhere else but Texas or DC? I doubt it! He thinks the Austrian economists were all brilliant? Apparently the other Austrians didn't think so; they have a social democracy, with socialized medicine etc. Guess what, it's working quite well. Germany just reported a 3% growth for 2011. You know, one of those failed socialist European states that are eating us alive. I agree with some of his ideas, but some of the others are just plain unrealistic. He has another big strike against him..............read my lips, no new Texans!
I think people might do well to educate themselves on Paul and our government.
He can't wave a magic wand and make it a free market overnight. Congress has to approve any change in regulations of business. This is why we have Checks and Balances in our government.
He will only be able to enact legislation that both sides agree upon. Otherwise we will have gridlock like with Obama.
no new texans,no rural strict constructionists or tea-bag interpreters needed, there's thousands of hours invested in that statement..... pax frater,...publius..
You make a good point, Highstreet. We currently have one party in control of the WH, while the other party works against him. What would happen if Paul did somehow make it to the Presidency? BOTH sides might work against him.
If you listen to Paul closely, you can tell he isn't really running to be President. He has said he want to change the direction and dialog of the Republican party. He knows he wont make go too far in the race, he just wants the attention. (Makes me think of a kinder, gentler, sweeter Princess Sarah.)
Romney won 5 delegates, Paul won 3, Huntsman won 3.
It is all about delegate count to win the nomination. Npow they all turn to the South : SC, Florida.
My question to the Paul supporter: when will Paul endorse Romney or will he hold out and what will his followers do?
This is going all the way to the convention!
