Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney eked out a razor-thin victory in Tuesday night’s Iowa Republican caucuses, holding off former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum’s late-in-the-game-surge to win.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Jan 3.
After a night that saw the two candidates claim the lead, the GOP announced that Romney beat Santorum by just eight votes to become the apparent winner. Ron Paul finished third.
Romney and Santorum remained virtually tied as returns came back throughout the evening in this cycle's first nominating contest. At the conclusion, each ended up at almost exactly a 25 percent share of the vote.
Chairman of the Iowa Republican Party, Matt Strawn, announced Romney got 30,015 votes and Santorum received 30,007 votes out of a record turnout of 122,255.
The result represented a dramatic closing act by Santorum to cement a furious, last-minute surge during which conservatives rallied around his campaign.
"Game on!" the jubilant ex-senator declared in remarks shortly after midnight.
The results were also humbling to an extent for the Romney campaign, which had appeared so confident in victory that it planned an overnight stay for the candidate in Iowa tonight instead of New Hampshire, where Romney's built a firewall. The former governor had also appeared to predict victory in a Monday night speech.

U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum addresses an Iowa crowd on January 3.
Texas Rep. Ron Paul finished third, at 21 percent.
Three other candidates, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann had also sought to beat expectations and rejuvenate their candidacies in subsequent primary contests in New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Gingrich had the edge, at 13 percent, over Perry (10 percent) while Bachmann finished in sixth, at 5 percent.
Perry said he would take the next few days to re-assess his campaign.
"I've decided to return to Texas, assess the results of tonight's caucus, determine whether there is a path forward for myself in this race," he said in remarks shortly before midnight.
But the story of the night was Santorum, who managed to rally conservatives, who'd searched desperately throughout the campaign for an alternative to Romney, after other would-be contenders washed out throughout the fall.
Santorum noted "another candidate in this race," referring to Romney, whom pundits viewed as more electable. He paused when a member of his crowd said "RomneyCare," referring to the Massachusetts health reform law Romney had enacted but conservatives deplore for its similarities to President Obama's health care reforms.
"Let me tell you: What wins in America are bold ideas, sharp contrasts, and a plan that includes everyone," Santorum said.
"We are off to New Hampshire," Santorum declared, "With your help and God's grace we'll have another fun night a week from now."
Romney, by contrast, continued to act like the campaign's frontrunner in the evening's last remarks. He congratulated Santorum and Paul on a well-fought campaign, but trained most of his criticism on President Obama.

In the end, Romney essentially matched his vote total from 2008, though he invested much less time and money in Iowa this cycle. But he failed to deliver the knock-out blow that his campaign had hoped for by playing in Iowa, and the results underscore the existing narrative in the campaign, that Romney is struggling to win over skeptical conservatives.
Sensing that Romney is vulnerable, the campaign now seems poised to move into a new phase in which the former Massachusetts governor will suffer more scrutiny.
Gingrich presaged this new phase in his remarks Tuesday evening, in which he vowed to continue his campaign beginning Wednesday in New Hampshire. He assailed Paul and Romney, too, while congratulating Santorum for running a positive campaign, and pointedly noted he wished he could say the same for other candidates, meaning Romney.
"We are not going to go out and run nasty ads," said Gingrich, who labeled Romney a "Massachusetts moderate" again. "But I do reserve the right to tell the truth. And if the truth seems negative, that may be more of a comment on his record than the nature of politics."
Newt Gingrich addresses supporters in Iowa after finishing outside the top three, emphasizing the need for a national discussion about reforming American governmental institutions and commenting on his fellow competitors.
Santorum punched his ticket out of Iowa in part by emerging as the winner of a virtual game of musical chairs among candidates in Iowa who had themselves as the anti-Romney candidate. The former Pennsylvania senator had campaigned in Iowa the “traditional” way, having started to stump there well before any candidate, and becoming the first candidate to visit all of the state’s 99 counties.
The former Pennsylvania senator performed best among caucus-goers who describe themselves as very conservative, according to entrance poll data. He also won over evangelical Christians and caucus attendees who tabbed social issues as one of their priorities.
Romney had hoped to score a knock-out punch in Iowa after having scarcely competed in the race until later this fall. His campaign is hoping that a late push in Iowa, plus a victory next Tuesday in New Hampshire (where Romney leads in the polls), could all but clinch the nomination.
The Hawkeye State had ended up as Romney’s Achilles Heel in 2008. After having invested heavily in winning the contest, Romney limped out of Iowa after a disappointing second place finish.
Romney tied his 25 percent share of the caucus tally he earned in 2008 by attracting the support of caucus-goers who valued electability and the economy -- core elements of Romney's 2012 message. The most deeply conservative caucus participants shied away from Romney.
In a sign that the establishment was undaunted by Romney's finish, Sen. John McCain -- the 2008 GOP nominee and Romney's sparring partner from that cycle -- was set to back Romney on Wednesday in New Hampshire.
The results raise the stakes for the primary in New Hampshire, scheduled for Jan. 10, and two subsequent primaries in South Carolina and Florida in the second half of this month.
There are two debates scheduled for this coming Saturday and Sunday, which might provide the springboard for a new, naster stage of the campaign, with the scrutiny focused on Romney.
Paul, meanwhile, managed a third place finish by leaning on an unorthodox coalition of libertarian Republicans, young caucus-goers and independents.
"We will go on, we will raise the money," he told supporters this evening. He'll head next to New Hampshire.
Congressman Ron Paul addresses his supporters in Iowa as NBC projects him to place third in the Iowa caucuses.
His campaign, both in 2008 and 2012, has been notable for its intense enthusiasm from supporters and prolific fundraising. And in Iowa, where the strength of a candidate's organization typically correlates with a strong performance, Paul is hoping his well-organized supporters can help secure victory.
But his foes had also assailed his foreign policy views, which emphasize a limited role for the U.S. on the world stage. In a traditionally hawkish party, it’s led some political observers to suggest that Paul might have a difficult time building a broad coalition of support within the GOP.
Michele Bachmann speaks to supporters in Iowa after a poor showing in caucus votes, reiterating her criticisms of President Obama.
Tuesday's results also raise fresh questions about the viability of Perry and Bachmann, who each spent heavily to win only fifth and sixth-place finishes, respectively. Bachmann made no indication of the future of her campaign during remarks late Tuesday evening.
For their parts, Bachmann and Perry have said before tonight they’ll head to South Carolina, which hosts its primary -- the third nominating contest -- on Jan. 21.
In a sign he's playing the long game, though, Romney has scheduled a trip to South Carolina overnight on Thursday and Friday morning. He’s also running ads in the Palmetto State, and announced Tuesday that he’s begun running ads in Florida, which hosts the next primary, as well.

Ron Paul or Obama, please most likely non-existent god, give us one of them.
Sure, Ron Paul will probably push hard (and possibly succeed) to make abortion illegal, because Paul is an idiot. But he's so stupid that he's actually appealing on some issues.
As long as it's not "corporations are people too" Mitt Romney.
I don't think when the founding fathers wrote "we, the people", they meant corporations.
Jungle
Are you so nahib, Obama is not getting money from Corporations, wake up this is Politics and people from Chicago knows how to play the game.
O'bama is nut to butt with GM haha
@Jungle All politicians have strong backers to include corporations irregardless of party. Considering that we, the people actually meant rich white men, it's probably not a good example.
Abortion should be illegal. There is a handful of politicians who are backed by losers who want the US population to be forcibly shrunk so they can have more.
Hopefully either Paul or Santorum wins. Repubs need to quit voting for the most likely candidate to win and vote for the one that represents their core values.. It worked out very well for the dems when they went along with Obama.
Master Bob that's funny stuff.
How come these caucuses don't require a picture ID? It's kind of hypocrite for these Republican caucuses to demand photo ID of everyone else except themselves.
Are you serious?
@Master Bob
Ron Paul doesn't want to make abortion illegal at the federal level. He believes that only the states have the power to decide. Do some research before typing nonsense, moron.
I'm a man and I say let the women have abortions if they want to, just like I should have every right to smoke a spliff every now and then on the weekend if I want to, as long as I don't go to work high.
I also say, if Mitt Romney wins the GOP nomination and then the Presidential election, America will go down the tubes because this dude is all about his own pockets.
Jungleboogie: Just out of curiosity, do you apply that same standard to Unions, the Trial Lawyers associations, and other left leaning groups??
If you do, I'll call you objective, if you don't, then I've got an "alternative list of colorful adjectives" I would refer to.
Iowa is the only place where Santorum could possible win anything. He is so determined to do everything the old fashioned way of the Republican party. He wants to take women to the dark ages, where abortions were done with wires. He also wants to immediately go to war with Iran, regardless of how MOST of us think. What an ignorant clown! We hardly ended one horrible war in the middle East, and he is talking about starting another one. He will say anything just to please his white arrogant Republican crowd of trigger happy Iowans.
Iowa is a white place full of white people that are not representative of the rest of the country. They have no idea how the people live in downtown Detroit, or anywhere else for that matter. Keep watching the corn grow! President Obama will wipe the floor with any of you!
The Paul Train is rolling along.
I can't believe I'm watching this on CNN...
What?! Obama not 'owned' by corporations? Someone's got a REALLY short friggin' memory.
Someone remind me of just how much the "Obamanation that has caused desolation" spent to get in back on '07-'08? How many hundreds of MILLIONS??? All for a job that pays $400k/year. Now we know why he wanted in so bad. How's the 'old bum' feeling, "The People"?
I am confident that Ron Paul's feeling would be that we all have the freedom to choose. Period. It is not the government's job to make those decisions for us...
That consistent message of freedom is what wins my vote.
ARE WE REALLY GOING TO FOLLOW THE REST OF THE FISH INTO THIS NET?
Sadly, probably yes... Swimming alone at sea is not the freedom we actually want... (kudos NOFX for the metaphor; lest I be charged with online theft of intellectual prop'tay)
Ron Paul 2012!
Shalom.

That comment is so racially prejudicial and hateful. Apparently you don't know much. These so calle3d WHITE People who have no idea of how the rest of the country lives were the ones who were intelligent enough to vote for Obama in the Democratic Caucus in 2008 and set him on the path to victory. And if memory serves me correctly, I do believe he won that state in the November election. As a former Iowa resident I feel you need to get out of your shell and actually visit Iowa and get to know the people before you speak of them in that negative manner.
@Sam good point, yet I think less rational people will be more proned to trying to not repeat the pattern they did last time. Afterall, with all these people out there who don't go much further than just pronouncing Barack Obama's name wrong implicates great probability of how uneducated they are about their politicians and their positions and what influence they have over you in the first place. In short, just because you make a smart decision doesn't mean you are a smart person or even have favorable odds.
@People.who.particularly.don't.state.good.arguments.or.create.an.educational.atmosphere
On a side note, to those who just cannot help resort to intentional offenses or even just cannot create an argument that can make us both wiser than we began, try to make more rational decisions and read into what the content consists of rather than exerting yourself as an @$$hole. Your not providing anything to anyone except your frustrations. Your going to complain about what's wrong, organize your thoughts and research and we will listen.
By the way, Were much better off with Ron Paul or Mitt Rominey than we are with any other republican candidate atm. Mitt Rominey is pretty moderate, but likely will make things harder than they are now. Maybe his experience in Business maybe make him the better set, but I wouldn't count on that. Ron Paul has a much clear agenda and position and has a better history of his position being equally promising as being able to get a drink of water.
The Christians should reclaim this country, not saying the republicans but in general the Christians should reclaim this country. Also the NRA, cofederate (aka.south not for slavery though) should reclaim too. all equal a good country with no stupid laws like gay is allowed, guns illegal, etc. The times when these people did have power was the good times in this country. Im conservative but i dont fully agree with eighter party cause they are both corrupt. But in the end i will vote for any repub person to get this idiot president out of power, really who would want to get rid of guns, it wont get rid of crime. Look at England.
I am watching all the networks...Not only FOX. People in IOWA are being interviewed as we speak, and they are saying these things. I am not pulling this out of my "arm". Please turn on your TV. You are probably one of the minority that think differently. They are showing groups of white people discussing these issues, some of them inside churches. It is nauseating.
I keep turning the channels, and they are all showing the same. Could it be possible that so many people are biased? Oh Please!
Ron Paul, if elected to office, won't be able to accomplish much because of his radical views. Unless he gives any ground, none of his legislation will get through.
We don't need radical changes to this country, just an environment where businesses can succeed. What's our countries biggest problems? The economy and the debt - why not put someone in office who is an expert in that field. Romney knows how to tackle those issues.
What? He's caused many to lose jobs? If the company is failing you got to cut off the excess to make it profitable or EVERYONE loses their job. With real unemployment close to 20% and $15 trillion in debt, I don't understand why you would vote anyone but Romney to get our country working again and to pay off the debt.
You're all naive if you don't think corporations and unions don't play both side against the middle. They back both parties against the american people.
Not sure what 16 trillion in debt means to you, but I think radical change is in order. Republicans want us to be fiscally responsible, yet they are willing to spend us into the grave militarily, while the Dems will do it socially. Oh ya, we need radical change. Both parties want to control your ass, whether it be through social restrictions such as the Republicans want, or fiscal control through Democratic philosophies.....we are not free at all people
DOUBLESLAMMER - OOOOKKAAAEEEEE - you want to basically take away civil rights and turn this country into a gun toting christian state?
oh man - I think I'm in love with you......IF you're a guy that is......
If the people of this country are ready for the changes that Ron Paul would bring, they're also ready to elect some Libertarians to represent us for a President who would bring REAL change.
Irrespond
With your hate speech you show your true racist colors. Do you think Detroit can represent US, sorry but every town, every State is unique and we all represent USA, not only Detroit , DC or Baltimore. Why do you think Obama is intruding into a Republicans Election day with a web-speech in Iowa, he won in this swing state in 2008, now more Iowans favor Republicans. Obama will be one terms president because he decide to be the President for one group of Americans , not for all Americans. Divide and conquer not always work.
@ Oskar:
Yeah! You represent every state. Just look at the picture in this article. Lots of "diversity" in there.....
I once watched a travel channel special on Switzerland. Lots of snowy mountains, skiers, cheeses and nice swiss style buildings. Therefore, I declare that ALL swiss people must skii on snowy mountains and then go home to neat swiss cabins and eat lots of homemade swiss cheese. I am so glad one hour of tv can make me an expert on all things swiss. Congratulations for doing the same for Iowa in only a couple minutes of viewing edited interviews taking place in a very limited number of geographical locations. Clearly you have a great capacity for induction based on tv news.
Give it a rest!:
And the quicker it rolls of the cliff, the better! I don't want to die from a Dr. Paul/Iranian nuke. Maybe you're willing to lose loved one's to his whacked foreign policy, but I'm sure not.
His son needs to remind pops that it ain't 1910 anymore!
I see all kinds of diversity there. I see Asian, German, Italian, Amerindian, British (either Welsh or Scot), and probably some African backgrounds from a gene pool that is proven to be mixed throughout all mankind. What? All light skinned folk look the same to you? Are we all the same? Is that what you're saying?
Who cares?!!! Why doesn't "main stream media" talk about REAL issues like: why is America held hostage by a broken political system that can only offer corporate and wall street puppets to vote for???
The fact that any of these, both democrat and republican, are taken seriously by the so-called "free press" with all the damage both parties has done to this once great nation is enough to be cynical. Our WHOLE system is broken, corrupt, beyond saving. My family has been a part of every step of building this nation. I have great grandfathers who fought in the Revolutionary War, The Civil War, World War 1 and 2, the Korean War and myself in the Iraq War. I am both saddened and pissed that buffoons who only think of their next election and the corporate sponsors who will finance them are the only choices we have to run this country. Depressed doesn't even come close to how I feel. God help us, because we certainly won't get it from the hired hands who have been running things for the last 35 years!!!
Swim alone Diatribe and get off the Internet that belongs to the group. Quit driving on our roads that we all pay for. Be sure and don't go to hospitals that our tax dollars pay for. Be sure and don't go into the parks that our tax dollars pay for. The next time you have a fire don't call the fire department or you are not swimming alone. If you are robbed don't call the police as their are no police out in swimming aloneland.
Independent swimming out on your own sounds romantic but hardly practical when you live here with the rest of us. Why not work out a deal for all of us, after all we all live on this small earth and all have the same needs.
Ron Pauls ideal of freedom is the freedom for the rich to rob us blind and pollute our earth and the people with no recourse. Never raising taxes again only benefits the rich. Ron Paul voted for all the tax cuts even though the tax cuts help create the huge deficits. Paul even voted for the billion dollar oil companies to keep their special tax cuts.
But for the people Ron Paul voted against increasing minimum wage. Free to be poor just another freedom brought to you by Ron Paul. Along with the freedom to die if you don't have health care.
Ron Paul talks one story and then votes another, check it out, I did and I wouldn't vote for him for dog-catcher.
@Spiddas
Reagan was the scumbag who lowered the tax rates or the richest people by half.
Ever since his Reaganomics stupidity, the median family income of the US has not risen - for 30 straight years.
Although I used to be democrat I would like to see Paul win because he would be the only one to actually bring real change.
Anything but this unfree society where our current leaders are stepping on the graves of the for-fathers.
This society is unsustainable for individuals to live in especially when you are harassed from so many different angles by government and corporations who take food from our childrens mouths and create
the most difficult if not impossible path for people to get justice.|
For Example...
If you've been driving, have kids & are now unable to pay for a registration due to a lossed job or layoff you will get a ticket. If you aren't able to eventually pay when due given your financial situation but yet, have enormous responsibilities and get ticketed again to the point where you know you can't pay you will go to jail if caught driving again no matter the public transportation system in your area & no matter how many jobs these leaders have shipped overseas.
It is our leaders fault that many are going to jail over financial reasons.
EXAMPLE: 2
If your banks feel likethey made a mistake with your account because of their faulty records and think that your money is theirs because of the mistake and pursues to take it out of your account, there is little that you can do to fight back.
If you go and try to take your money back from the bank guess who goes to jail????
Not anyone at the bank who initiated the move to take your money but you will go for trying to get your money back!!!!
In other words there really isn't any recourse for individuals who are in a particular financial situation.
If you go to court the corporation will drag the case out unti you run out of money.....
So we the masses are helpless when going up against the giant government or corporations who never is considered wrong.
Is this one of the reasons things are spinning out of control???
Yes!!!
Why????
Because the individuals who feel helpless are now looking to savatoge this government & corporations for doing us like this.
When you have tens of millions of people peeling away layers from this government & @ corporations, things will come crashing down quickly.
This is why it is pertinent to do the right thing especially when serving the public.
Last time Iowa chose Mike Huckabee with 35% of the vote and Mitt came i second with 25% odf the vote. If Santorumgets 25% this year it means 10% of the Iowins have come to the senses! Big Yawn here as this state is not representitive of the entire US.
IRespond, I have a few black blood brothers and nieces and nephews in that area.
They have a tremendous number of people who have good hearts and who are really good folks.
We all must speak with respect although I know that the life pressures brought on by this society has everyone in rage and releasing anger at all levels.
From here on we must know who we are up against and believe it or not wrong comes in all shapes, sizes & colors.
I believe that the majority of people are good.
But, where you find enormous sums of money you also find enormous sums of evil.
In other words don't allow for misguided anger to lead you in this but, search and search and you'll find exactly who has you and the rest of us sooo.... pissed off.
IRESPOND-2315268
Iowa is a majority white, so what is it you want to see on the news? Also why is it so bad to hear white peoples opinions? It is obvious you don't like white people and are clearly ignorant to the fact that Iowa voted for Obama in 2008. If I as a white man I made the same statements you have with the race reversed it would be clearly seen as racist.
http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/19000.html
Well, that person DOES know that Iowa is a white place full of white people that are not representative of the rest of the country. Iowa population is almost 92% white. The rest of the country is only 72% white. How the hell is that "representative?" Just because you may have gone to school with a "colored girl" does not mean you know a damned thing about diversity.
The Christians never owned this country to begin with... :::don't say redneck, don't say redneck::: the Constitution of the United States made sure they never would. So, are you talking about another "Crusade?" Yeah, that's good PR right there. It is unfortunate that so many who think like you are probably unable to vote because of their status as ex-felons.
This president has been in power for 4 years... you still have your guns? Yeah... you do. But believing any damned lie that Glenn Beck tells you doesn't speak highly of the intelligence level of those who vote to the right.
Hopeful American wrote:
Home of the free and the brave? Not anymore. It's sad to see how afraid people in the U.S. have become. You're far more likely to die from "rolling off that cliff" you mention, than a nuke from Iran. Keeping Americans afraid is what keeps wars going, and starts new ones with other "pretend" enemies.
I have to wonder how truly freaked out people would become if we had another Cold War with Russia, a real nuclear threat that makes any conflict with Iran look like a vacation to DisneyLand. Let's hope nothing like that ever happens again, because it's likely that many "brave" Americans will immediately drop dead from a massive panic attack, just at the thought of it.
relax @Copper and go find Todd. The president took office on Jan 20 2008. His four years will be up at the end of 2012, so his third year is at it's end. The pilgrims who came over first, actually did have the country before politicians came over. Then of course, with all politicians, it became about the money. Being diverse, does not necessarily mean someone has to give up their heritage, to learn everything about another, or that would of course, negate the need for diversity in the first place. In other words, someone's stregth can fill your weakness, and vice versa. You really have to get over Glen Beck, He can't hurt you any more, unless your a glutton for punishment and paying for the GB channel with your satellite or cable provider.
Must saya I love reading all the opinions for the endless hysterical laughing because far too many comments are filled with thinking errors containing a smidge of rationality if at all..
One such issue being abortion. I wonder just what makes a person even consider letting a small group of people in Washington D.C. dictate the legality of abortion? They can't balance a budget, let the FDA approve cigs for human consumption as well as the many prescription medications with horrid side effects that kill many many people each year. I imagine the hard line pro lifers would be horrified to find out how many in Washinton D.C. that take the same stance have either had an abortion or been the partner of a sexual partner that received on. Hell if I want to let them dictate anything I put in or might want to have taken out of my body.
Well, at the very least Oskar we know Obama got money from Goldman Sachs. In fact during the the last election Goldman Sachs was one of his biggest contributors. It stands to reason that they probably will be this time round as well.
IRESPOND I don't know if a) you are just messing with people, b) don't know your history, or c) you can't entertain more than a single strand of thought. Couple observations: Obama won Iowa in '08. On a Chris Matthews program I saw yesterday that was *supposed* to be interviewing Iowa GOP caucus-goers, most were really not Republicans and actually supported Obama, meaning dedicated groups had to be sought out (Matthews had to scramble around looking for the "real thing"). Hell most of the networks said there were more reporters at the various GOP rallies than supporters, which were mobbed for interviews. And Obama got his symbolic Democratic caucus victory in Iowa today: http://iowademocrats.org/caucus/hPressVt76HujI/ --it obviously wasn't big news. And most of the Romney supporters I saw interviewed said they leaned his way because he is a moderate. And Romney squeaked out a win. Soooo... I'm guessing it is c), and you are easily distracted by shiny objects? :P
Paul is in favor of small federal government and let the people decide what is good for themselves at the State level. Paul wants a strong US currency, low taxes, strong economy, protect the rights guaranteed by the US Constitution, and end US wars in Afghanistan and elsewhere. Unlike other cookie-cutter GOP/Dem candidates, Paul speaks out on all the important issues rather than what people want to hear. Paul's message to the American people has been consistent through out his political career while the other politicians have been tailoring their stance to get votes.
If the American people are tired of being hoodwinked every 4 years by fast-talking politicians who says one thing on election night and do something else after elected, they should at least give a few minute to Ron Paul's positions.
Ron Paul in 2012!
The pro and anti abortion idiots need to get off their blowhorn.
This election is about the economy. Pure and simple. And which candidate/party is best fit to move our economy forward in a direction that helps all of us. The poor, middle class and job creators.
I agree with you Cdahl. This election should be about the economy and creating jobs for the working class. I am a woman who is against abortion, but I don't believe for a moment that anyone being elected this time or anytime in the future will change the law. Since Roe v Wade there have been more Republican presidents than Democrat, and abortion hasn't been touched.
The American public wants all their fancy electrontic toys for a cheap price. Well? The corporations heard that and sent their companies overseas where labor is cheap, and regulations are non-existent. Now we are paying the price for that. I work for a small American based, American OWNED (non Union) manufacturing company and we find that some people ARE willing to pay for the quality that they can't get at Home Depot or Walmart. If More people paid attention to where the items they buy are coming from, this could be turned around.
Romney or Paul 2012
american first you can't tell them to stop going to parks and using roads when he payid taxes for them and still is.
You need to really take a look at yourself and this ccountry because if you think that we should have a relationship with the DEVIL sticking the broom in our butts then you need a reality check.
Once born on this land you have a right to this land although the government says there is ownership I BEG TO DIFFER!!!!!!!
@Americans First, while I feel that the Occupy people need to clarify their mission statement, I completely agree with this:
All his supporters hear is "going back to the Constitution", "state's rights". If we leave the corporations to do whatever they want it could get ugly. It cuts into their profits when they have to dispose of toxic waste in a safe manner. It'd be much easier and cheaper to dump it into the nearest river or lake. I can't even imagine giving Pat Quinn all that responsibility. What kind of idiots voted for him anyway? Oh yeah.....that Chicago crowd.
If he's not a "Corporation", how would you catagorize George Soros? Sorry for the big words.
They just, evidently, don't know how to speak English.
Edna I completely disagree with you. It is up to us, the consumer, in a free market, to decide what companies will do well and which will not. That is what Ron Paul supports, and what we hear in his message. This is not rich vs. poor. We have regulations in place right now, have for some 70+ years, and a lot of good that has done. A company simply pays a lawyer to get around any reg today, and will do the same for any reg that you put in place in the future. More regulations are not the answer. No regulations, likewise, is not the answer. Paul supporters know that we are the answer to our own problems if we work together and take the initiative to solve them. We don't want to rely on an inept government to place a band-aid on an issue.
Your "company dumping toxic waste" example...after the BP oil spill and the public outcry around it, I decided to never again pump gas at a BP station. But that public outrage lasted, what, a month? Americans started lining up at the pump giving BP some nice profits. Bank of America, all the public outcry in the winter, who closed their account and went to a smaller, non-national bank? I did, for one. Triad produced known tainted medical wipes for almost five years, but did anyone switch to the competitor brand? Our lab did back in 2009. All three of those companies, in different industries and different regulatory environments, said "I'm sorry" and went back to raking in the cash because we the consumer did NOTHING and waited for our government to impose un-enforceable sanctions.
Point being, we the people have the power to buy products from large corporations or not. There is competition in the marketplace. If we are truly outraged, we should do something about it...rather than leaving everything up to the government, which ultimately reduces the power of the individual citizen. RP and his supporters know this will happen with more government involvement.
If Ron Paul were in power it would end the influence of politics in corporate business, bad business decisions mean people stop doing business with the company and they go bankrupt. Not like the stupidity of the last administration as well as the current, where bad business decisions means the government bails them out. It means an actual free market, not the current monopolized system we have with government regulations preventing smaller businesses from getting large enough to compete. There would be no such thing as "too big to fail" in a free market, because theres plenty who are willing to take the place of the corporation that gets that attitude.
Ron Paul definitely looks good heading in. Don't know why his end the pointless wars, balance the budget and America first approach isn't for everyone, but I think it should put him in the top 3 for sure.
Yah i know JB. What a total "kook" Not to mention his wanting to cut his OWN pay by 90% (Current Presidential Pay $400,000, President Paul's salary $39,344) And that never voting against the Constitution nonsense. Only a "fringe, unelectable" candidate would want to follow some paper written 236 years ago by some guys who were probably "kooks" too. Good grief, what a "senile" old man :)
AMEN
Paul is going to do it. Screw the establishment experts. It is time for real change.
Hey they said Einstein was a kook, Howard Hughes was a kook, heck even Isaac Newton was taunted from a very young age as being crazy. So RON PAUL you go ahead and be as crazy as you like, YOUR IN GOOD COMPANY!
P.S. I can fully understand how a country that has been so brainwashed into believing that they cant take care of themselves without Daddy and Mommy government thinking for them would make them scared to think for themselves. Sadly we allow you guys to vote also.
Kornfed - Don't see how Paul could do any worse than the rest of the clowns, including Obama
Iowa is irrelevant. It is a small state populated by old white republicans. The Demographics of this country is changing and they know that they're not going to be the sole determinors of power in this country in the next decade or two -- and they don't like it. Ron Paul represents the broken clock mentality. You know where even a broken clock is right twice a day. He is an Ayn Rand greed is good, move everything out of the way in order to worship at the altar of capitalism. The voting rights act giving votes to minorities? Against it. The laws banning segregation? Against it. The laws against housing discrimination? Against it. and why? Because he says it interferes with business' ability to operate. Paul, ever the corporate prostitute, would put us back into the dark ages. Safety regulations? Interferes with business. Get rid of them. Air pollution laws? Inteferences with business ability to earn profit by polluting the atmosphere. Get rid of it. Read his fliers back some 20 years and you will see just who this man is. Far from being a hero. He is an embarrassment to any fairminded individual in this country. Just because he was against both wars doesn't make him Jesus. It makes him right on two issues while being wrong on dozens of issues.
Go Ron Paul!
Heeheehee!
eddie, i think you are in the wrong country! if you don't believe that the leader of our good ol U.S.A. shouldn't uphold the very fabric of the rights that allow you to speak on this forum right here then you need to get on the boat with Bush and Obama and ship yourselves over to China! zàijiàn!
GO RON PAUL!!!!
The Republican Party has turned into the most hateful organizations in history. They would almost eat their own children to gain an advantage. I am praying that we can go back to the good old days when honest people outnumber the evil people. I am sure I am a dreamer. There are some evil Democrats but none as evil as Karl Rove and his bunch. The last administration shuold be tried for treason and war crimes.
To all of the brave men and women that gave up their lives so some could prosper, I salute you. For their frineds and family I am praying for you. For the untold amount of innocent civilians that got killed during the world I am just as sad for you.
The Republican Party use to be great until Nixon came along and since then we have learned that we can't even trust the President. That was a sad day, I hope some good honest people take the Republican Party back over. We need both sides but we need them to work together.
phillycap: You are wrong. He is not against regulation per se, he is against federalized regulation that go beyond the mandates that the constitution gives them. He recognizes that states are the ones that have the ability and should be able to make their own regulations on those matters. Sounds good to me!
@phillycap
Then why is it that major corporations and banks, like Goldman Sacs, are giving millions to the messiah while Ron Paul is the only true grass roots canidate? None of those positions you mentioned have anything to do with race, he wants the markets to be free. Speaking of racism, what about his desire to end the war on drugs which has a massive negative imact on minorities? Even Obama continued to raid medical marijuana growers. No complaints there though from you huh? Hypocrite.
Federal regulations are killing our ability to compete in the worldwide economy. I'm honestly starting to think that people like you could give a toss about the enviroment anyway. They just want to destroy our industry. You people are truely a bunch of brainwashed dimwits.
Joe, with the exception of Dr. Paul, the only difference between the Republican party and the Democratic party is the spelling. ALL of 'em are bought and paid for.... Except, like I said, Dr. Paul.
"Politicians should wear NASCAR racing outfits so you can see the patches of all the company's that sponsor them." -- Anonymous
Shortorder cook, if you follow the republican mandate, you too are a brainwashed dimwit. Anyway, this election should really be interesting. I have seen a lot of support from my peers, through polls and message boards for Ron Paul. How much do you want to bet that he "somehow" does not get the nomination. I am betting that we will truly find out just how corrupt our "government" through this process.
"Dr." Paul was also bought and paid for -- the only difference is, he was bought and paid for not by American corporations but by the evil Muslim Brotherhood whose goal is to use him as their inside man to destroy our country!
Bought and paid for by the Muslim Brotherhood? How ridiculous. It's sickening to see just how brainwashed some of you dullards really are.
pj-965429 I don't know what "republican mandate" you're speaking of. Ron Paul certanly isn't part of the establishement of either political party. His only "mandate" is the Constitution.
crazy he would be the last man standing in a battlle for our freedom
I have to say that this article is biased and leans toward everyone but Ron Paul.. I have to wonder what the Republicans are afraid of. I can bet they scared that Ron Paul would get the presidency and he then would ask for a look see into Fort Knox and find out there isn't any gold. They also don't want the power being turned over to the States because they don't want the people to have any power... Lets get the power back, Vote Ron Paul.
PHILLY CAT-
Get the facts idiot, you obviously dont know what you are talking about. Obama has destroyed this country and Ron Paul is the man with the plan, the champion of the costitution.
@ jungleboogie;
Pointless wars? What a slap in the face to all those who have gave all so you can sit here safer than you were 10 yrs ago.(I dare anyone to say we are not safer and I will bombard you with facts that show we are.) and ramble to your Paulers. Al qeada and the Taliban are a shell of what they were when we first started at them, they drew first blood in this century. we shall draw the last.
Osama is dead.
How pointless was going after an enemy that killed thousands of Americans?
Should we of just stayed home and let them grow larger, and let all theose on9/11 die in vain?
You obviously do not care about any of them, including those that support your post.
It sounds more like you guys are for yourselves first.
What politician does not promise to "balance the budget"?lol,Im guessing none.
What politician does not say "America first",same song and dance different actors.
Sounds like you guys are for yourselves first, and America second. Very sad.
do you honestly believe ron paul, santorm, or romney will help our country we just got back our dignity from the rest of the world , united nations and other countries to even side with us these 3 men want us back at war we just saved 1 trillion by getting out of iraq did we lose the war yes by the lives of americans that died there , abortions at the state level how many states benefitted from the stimulus , think about it how rich are you don't you think you should pay less taxes than the beyonce's, jay-z's and oprah's or for that matter romeny, paul and ginrich are you that rich if you are you don't have a bone in this fight until you realize you are not in their league you will never vote correctly and what does any of them really no about the constitution something so old it should be updated to these times everybody check your bank account and see who will truly help your pockets paul wants to fight iran and israel, santorm wants war , romeny will tell you anything to win he changes like i change my drawers daily.he does not care about anything but romeny and his dozen children and the mormon faith.where would we be if romney wins
@choraltaxi
You think the middle east is safer than 10 years ago? Please put down the pipe. That statement is a total joke. The entire middle east has been destabilized.
And the majority of men & women who have served our country support Ron Paul
more than any of the other candidates.
Osama was found in zero of the countries we invaded.
Israel is less secure than at any time in the past ten years.
And which candidate do you prefer?
@ ewing;
Umm no,our fighting men and women did the impossible by bringing them back from the brink of civil war? This was an incredible feat. Elections were held, people now have a voice. Are new Democracies perfect,no never they must stay on the track they are on to achieve rule of law, they must stay on track to rebuild their infrastructure, neither is our job anymore,we gave them opportunity,I would call that a win by our profssional fighting men and women . We left from a place of strength not weakness.
One less madman in the world, that hates us and wished for our destruction, and tried to kill our commander in chief.
@ JB;
You think the middle east is safer than 10 years ago? Please put down the pipe.
I believe I said WE ARE,YOU ARE,(you misquote me,fail)they(the Me) still have to achieve rule of law in these countries, something we gave them a start to.
From what I've seen, Ron Paul is a man of principals and I'd like to vote for the guy, but there are a couple of glaring reasons I don't think I can.
For example, he has said he is "pro-seat belts but anti seat belt laws". Who pays the bill when a motorist gets into a car accident not wearing a seat belt? Looks like they don't have medical insurance either...oops. Guess who pays for that trip to the ER? You and I in the form of higher insurance premiums. Ron Paul says that person has the right to choose whether or not they want to wear a seatbelt and buy insurance, and that's all wonderful and great, but it is you and I who would ultimately foot the bill.
What about wanting to abolish the IRS and income taxes? How can public infrastructure be maintained with no governing body collecting and disbursing funds?
Please, someone educate me.
@ JB;
I believe you are wrong there also, but did I mention Israel?ummm no.You just do not want to admit you are safer because of these so called"pointless wars:" As the other day you digress.
And if you havent noticed these wars are winding down,we do mot need Paul to help us there. This man should not have his finger on the button.
Paul, Romney and Santorum in a race that is "too close to call," is proof that many Iowa Republicans are mentally ill.
Ron Paul is 76 years old and has the charisma of a rutabaga. We've already had one elderly president in the last 30 years. One who developed early onset dementia while in the White House. Ron Paul might have a few good ideas, but he is unelectable as president.
By the way, the spell check function does not like Santorum and suggests sanitorium. Maybe that is some sort of clue.
@smokescreen; Amen, we had the fewst fatalities on the road last year since 1960,and he wants to stop regulation?lol Do not try to fix something that is not broke.
@ JB;I was taught from a young age that if you do not like any of the candidates to just vote your party. I will vote but none of them impress me much.
I guess this blows your theory that none of these countries are safer then, doncha think, even though that was not my point in the first place. I would say any country that Osama was and is not now is safer. Will you refute this also, without digression?
I hope "little Ricky" wins...
@ smokescreen'1940 I meant,running fever sorry.lol
Coral Taxi:
I'm with you on most points. What a lot of the Paul lovers here don't seem to get is that leaving Iran and North Korea alone won't make them leave us alone. If they get nukes, Dr. Paul would have us dead. Because by the time his old brain figured out that gee, leaving them alone didn't work so well, the terrorists would have the nukes and cities across America would be nuked!
The guy is 100 years behind the times and pathetically and sadly out of touch with the realities of the world. Hell, Europe liked the Muslims so much and look what is happening there?!
AGENT ORANGE 2.14 PLEASE tell us for sure that was sarcasm. If not, you an idiot.
JBoog,
Surely you jest! Ron Paul if he got even a 10th of what he wants would make Calcuttas streets appear homey compared to ours. Ron Paul like everyone else supports the partsof the constitution he likes and disavows the rest and is OK with judicial rulings supporting his beliefs but against those against them. He believes the Federal Income Tax is unconstitutional in spite of Article 1 section 8 and the 16th Amendment. He is an Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard disciple the 1st calling for something called Rational Egoism and the other an anarchocapitalist. His beliefs from the Nietzsche inspired Rand to the Mises inspired Rothbard these people are extremists who want a return to the days of Dickens and workhouses for the poor.
jkh
Oh, what fun it is to ride...
Good luck with this mess!
@Smokescreen9 Just what ARE you smoking there buddy?
That means that seat-belts are a good thing and people should wear them because they DO save lives, and not just because some nanny-state rule says to wear it. In other words, if you're going to mandate that I, in my 2 and a half ton 4-wheel surrounded by steel and glass cocoon, must wear a seat-belt, where's the law that mandates that the guy, straddling 500 pounds of two-wheel tubes and plastic panels, should be wearing a brain-bucket. What happens when that motorcyclist gets into an accident.
Who pays the bills then?
@choraltaxi
Ahh, but the wars are not winding down, they are "ramping up"
Syria is next on the Neo-Conservative war list.
Do we really want a Shiite Islamocracy in Syria too?
What happens when the new government in Syria asks for the Golan Heights?
No, I mentioned Israel, not you. If you don't care about the security of Israel and the prospects for long term peace in the middle east, that is your problem.
I don't see Israel being very secure surrounded by extreme right wing Shiite Islamocracies. That is what we already installed in Iraq, Libya, and is what is coming in Egypt (unfortunately).
Every Republican candidate except Ron Paul wants further wars in the middle east.
Go to dhs.gov to see that the Terrorism Threat Level has been all over the place for the last ten years. So, no we are not any safer.
@Coral Taxi post 2.20
The US government has not shown evidence that the 9/11 attackers and/or planners were from or in Iraq. The victories on the 9/11 front were not won in Iraq.
Our soldiers are sacrificing their lives to protect us. I appreciate their sacrifice and believe they are doing their best to serve this country. However, I also believe we should honor them by picking our battles carefully so our soldiers have more time to spend with loved ones here in the US. Just because they are willing to sacrifice their lives does not mean we should ask them to do so every day of their life on 3rd, 4th, 5th rounds of deployments.
I am looking for a candidate that has enough intelligence to understand when to fold or hold their cards. Making military decisions is the president's job. Babysitting congress is not.
Cora taxi and co
Give me a break. US troops are nothing more than hired guns for the Establishment, meaning Wall St and multinationals anymore. Libya, Iraq, and now Iran? All of these 3rd world cesspools, none with ICBMs or nukes for that matter are really a threat to our freedoms? Seems to me our own government takes away our freedoms a helluva a lot more than the Taliban or Saddam ever could. Do you really think the Taliban could take us down, the one nation that can obilterate every living creature on this planet with the exception of some insects over 3 times over can be taken out by a bunch of AK-47, RPG wielding morons?
@jb; You digress from the original question per usual
Let me sum it up for you,the flames of terrorism have been tamped down by our fighting men and women over the past 10 yrs, this you can not deny. Is the fire completely extinguished,I would say not,but we are containing and fumigating,so that we may sleep easier knowing we will not allow this threat to grow to the size it was 10yrs ago,if you think that this is not due to the due dilligence of our fighting men and women, then I would challenge your patriotism, and reasoning.
And you are telling me to put the pipe down.lol major face palm.
@ robert
Give me a break. US troops are nothing more than hired guns for the Establishment.
Go say that to one of our soldiers face sir, they fight for their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, they do not fight for a political agenda, they follow orders without question sir,it is called duty and honor. Something you obviously do not understand.
Seems to me they took out 3,000 of us in a couple of hours sir.name one freedom that has ben taken from you.lol
We have not had a serious threat to our security since the USSR, and even that threat was greatly exaggerated. Comparing Saddam or even Ahjy to Hitler was/is moronic. We spend hundreds more times on defense than Iran, who has the second lowest per capita defense spending in the entire ME.
smokescreen: So you feel that the government is better at running your life than you are?
The simple point is that Ron Paul understands that the government is not supposed to govern our everyday lives. The government is supposed to protect our rights not impede them. The more power you give to government the more it uses that power to get more and subdue it's people.
I don't want anybody feeling me up at airports, forcing me to buy insurance, telling me not to smoke, forcing me to wear a seat belt, telling me when and where to protest,etc... These are baby steps to eventual absolute tyranny.
You worry about tax dollars going to uninsured: i worry about my money going to corrupt corporations and banks via politician slight of hand.
As for the IRS; we can't get rid of it fast enough! Imagine someone intercepting your paycheck, deciding how much they want, and then letting you have the rest. This is what they do. Our money is then taxed over and over on every purchase. Everyday people pay permits, surcharges, tickets, fines, taxes, i think they make enough money!
The whole lot of them are clones of McCain & Palin(the Repubs should be blaming them for the position they are in)......including Ron (the Dinosaur) Paul, they are all in it for the money (with the possible exception of Paul because he is principled or dumb) none of them have any chance to unseat Obama and they and the Republican Machine knows it.....that is why they are allowing these circus clowns to continue their charade. They are all has beens, wash ups, wanna bees who are long past their Peter Principal. It's not even funny anymore, its just sad.
All this rehashed racist crap from the Repubs, come on be a man like your boy Newt has said and stop lying to the American People just come right out and say you can't stand the thought of a N— — — — — — in the White House telling you what to do. That's what this is all about .... it's embarrassing Neanderthal Crackers.
@Thomas Paine-784713 -- I don't disagree...I think everyone should wear a seatbelt whether you are in your lifted 3500 or a small Honda because the science backs up that seat belts save lives. If you choose to drive a motorcycle your insurance rates are going to be a lot more than someone in a safety cocoon and that is your perogative. But back to his comments that seatbelts should be a choice and unenforceable under law.
If me or someone I work with gets into an accident, the costs of my insurance premiums would go up. Getting into a car accident and suffering a severe injury is a terrible thing. But if me or someone I work with chooses not to wear a seatbelt, as giving people that right to choose is championed by Ron Paul, then not only do they pay for it physically, but that drives up insurance premiums for everyone. Hospitals and Insurance companies might eat some of that amount in excess of the victim's deductible, but ultimately it creates an upward pressure on premiums.
I guess I have a problem with that.
I am still trying to figure out which planet contains the aliens that the US plans to fight. We are building weapons we can not use in the types of wars and battles we are fighting. We have enough weapons to blow up the earth at least 3 times, but we are unwilling and unable to use these weapons. I would rather build weapons our troops need to defend than to build another show piece useless weapon.
Again I am looking for a candidate with intelligence.
@ robert; See you name not one freedom (Personally) taken from you. Hyperbole as usaual, all talk notrhing to back it up.
I say personally so you do not go into some derail,as others do when I ask this question.simply name one that has been taken from YOU.
ZZZ...ZZZ...ZZZ...ZZZ...Z...ZZZZZ.Z...ZZZ...ZZZ...ZZZ.............
Judging from many of the comments that turn nasty and ugly, it is easy to see why religion and politics are never to be discussed.
For the X and Y generation you will be saddled with high debt and thus be forced to pay a lot more in taxes and be stuck in jobs that see long-term wage freezes. The notion that 1 percent of earners can be taxed enough to pay down the debt is laughable and is only populist rhetoric coming from the WH.
However, if the WH asked for a temporary tax hike on the rich to seriously take every penny and apply it to the gross public debt, then I would have respect for the president. Instead raising the marginal rate means nothing for this bracket because the rich do not get their income from a W2. Obama knows that. Raising the capital gain tax hurts other brackets which should be avoided and slows the economy. A excise tax like some states are doing, should ONLY be used to pay down debt and not instead increase spending and create more obligations.
However if you are in the camp of economist Paul Krugman, our current gross debt is nothing at all to worry about and just the republicans making a lot of noise over nothing. He reminded many today our gross debt is half debt taken out by our own citizens, and not debt owed to foreign countries. So I guess if we can't service that debt, it won't matter since the debt is only held by our citizens.
Up-Down, Up-Down, Up-Down this is a like a dogand pony show. What a joke ?????????? Iowans are Retards. Iowa cannot entrusted with its role as the state that kicks off Presidential voting ever four years when they pick a loser like Santorum. This is evidence that Iowa votes were too unsophisticated to be trusted.
@bluelake; Im with that, temp at 102,time for zzzzzzzzz, goodnight Paulers,Im feeling as delirious as your candidate is.
Ron Paul is off the wall.
Ron Paul for Geritol.
@Smokescreen9
Locking eveyone up in their own padded room would probably reduce injuries and supposedly lower health premiums too. Does that mean the federal government has the right to do so?
Bottom line is (as the repubs have said about many a democrat) Ron is "out of touch" with most Americans and will never win the nomination, much less the election. Look a bit beneath the surface, and there lie the same tired old populist ideas that have periodically poisoned the public debate over the past 120 years, especially at times of fear and uncertainty - xenophobia, racism, isolationism, conspiratorial fear of government. Time to pack it up and go home. Now that he's 76, the mantle will have to be passed along ...
Actually it's his idea that gays, women and blacks are 2nd-class citizens that tends to turn some people off.
Coral:
As soon as you said you will vote for "your party" no matter who is their candidate", you showed your hand(true colors).
You obviously don't care about who might be best for our country, you are just going to toe your party's line, and stay in lockstep, no matter how crappy the candidate might be.
Who "taught you" that? Another person who blindly follows(ed) their party?
No need to reply. Your response will undoubtedly be " Baaah Baaah!".
This comments thread has shown me crystal-clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that this country is doomed. It doesn't matter who wins. I used to think RP could make a difference, and would still like him to get the nom, but somehow someway Rick Santorum leapt off of life-support and became the front-runner overnight. I won't start in with the conspiracy theory until tomorrow......
But seriously. We have some a-hole called A Yank in Australia lecturing us all on our racial bonafides from the safety of his relatively stable and White adopted country because pretending to love blacks gives smug liberal white pricks a cheap air of moral superiority, we have a bunch of idiots who think Iran has interest in a nuke for any reason other than we've been meddling in their neighborhood for 50+ years, not to mention Israel has hundreds and has been known to practice mock bombing missions in strength across the Mediterranean, just about precisely the distance to Iran but in the opposite direction, who think that empowering an enormous national security police state is conducive to freedom, we have a bunch of mental midgets who think a Ron Paul presidency means negroes on sale at Wal-Mart next January.....
AND THEY SAY THAT WE ARE THE NUTCASES!!!!!
Doomed I say. Have a good time huddling in the basement waiting for the dreaded Islamobomb to fall on your house, and make sure you give a fourth-generation welfare recipient a big hug for me when he's dropped all pretenses and just comes straight to your house to steal your money and food rather than use the government to do it for him, because the government has drowned under a sea of bad debt and worthless fiat currency. I'm sure he'll be particularly appreciative when you explain to him how you stood up for his poor unfortunate soul against us with your soft bigotry of low expectations. It really plays well with them.
Taking the Middle Ground.....that is taking the extreme ground in my opinion and typical of some people ....if someone says "gun control" for example the extremists come back with "they plan to take all of our guns" ..... the opposite or even a fair way in the opposite direction of mandatory seat belt laws does not include locking everyone in padded cells.
It is also illegal to drink and drive or be drunk and drive, should each individual be able to set their own limit as to how drunk they should or shouldn't be before they get behind the wheel. Your argument makes no sense in the civilized urban society we now live in. We have mandatory seat belt laws to protect idiots from themselves....and now everyone just puts them on like starting the car.....simple social engineering.....sometimes a great notion oh and sometimes not.
And once again, it comes down to hearing only what we want to hear.
Regarding seat belt laws and no smoking laws, if the government wants to protect me, then protect me andoffer me coverage to health care, not health insurance, but quality health care at a reasonable cost. Like that will happen. Only when the gov. tackles insurance companies and drug lords, uh...drug companies.
A Yank in Australia I wear my seat belt not because the law says I have to, but because I know that I am more likely to survive an accident if I do. I buy a car with anti-lock breaks (which are not mandated by federal law) because they work well stopping my car in the rain. I would advise anyone who asks me to do the same.
I took the extreme because extremes are what show the absurdity to the argument. The argument is that the government should and has the right to pass laws to force people to protect themselves (not others). I do not agree with that premise. Laws are meant to keep people living peacefully together not with themselves. I think a few well placed adds showing people going through windshields is far more effective than a federal law that says wear a seat belt.
I find you are taking the extreme when you mix laws to force someone to protect themselves vs laws to protect someone from someone else when you say "It is also illegal to drink and drive or be drunk and drive". Drinking and driving is called reckless endangerment which is also illegal which is farther reaching and makes more sense. If your car is swerving in and out of lanes (reckless endangerment) you should be taken off the road regardless of the reason (driving drunk, taking drugs, have a heart attack, eating breakfast, talking on the phone, texting, putting on lipstick, arguing with your kids, ...).
You see Iowa really is not that niave. Sorry Paulers good try though.
@JB; In the words of Nelson Munz, HA HA!!
I don't see how Iowans could vote for Santorum. I'd vote for Ron Paul over Santorum, ANY DAY of the week, and I'm not a RP supporter(Although I like the premise of about 25% of his ideas).
Maybe there are a lot of Christian extremists in Iowa, who like the extremist views Santorum spouts.
Huntsman seems like the only well rounded GoP candidate, who's not living in fantasyland.
Couldn't agree more
I think flip-flopper Romney will get the ticket after all but this result of 25% is kinda embarressing for Romney, isn't it? Obama's 2nd term is a sure thing!
Why are they trying to make us think that all of this primary hoopla is aimed at this is all we have to vote for? I'm sorry there still isn't anything good coming out of Iowa. There is nobody here worth considering.
A party of morons followed by morons. I'm not touting the democrats. This is one big field of narcissists willing to sell their soul, no matter what they really believe, for a vote.
Santorum? I mean...really...SANTORUM??
Wow, I knew people in Iowa were DipThongs, but WOW! What complete lunacy!!
Santorum, Romney & Paul more like Moe, Larry & Curly
Something is a little fishy here.... Santorum just comes out of nowhere WTF!
A party of morons. The alternative is the sell-out more desperate for a re-election than pushing against a bunch of talking points.
BB - Nothing fishy - this guy practically was in Iowa 24/7 even though no one seemed to be paying much attention to him. My crude hand projection shows that Santorum will win by up to 50 votes.
I think Enough Iowan's saw Gingrich hit and wobble on the negative, Romney run the Negative hits, had already decided they weren't confident of RP. Perry about Nuked himself, Bachmann talked them out of voting for her, and Huntsman was ignoring him.
That left Santorum a closer look, and by looking at his biography and his record, it was a good match.
Will he win more - We must wait and see.
I have yet to see one of these republican candidates mention G.W. Bush. Has Bush become the name that can not be named?
They were all cheering Bush on. Now, Bush has become a nasty four-letter word.
I mean just look at the poll numbers from 5 days ago, that guy was at like 13%. The media gave Santorum free press all weekend and then he wins the caucus. Seems weird to me, I guess if the establishment doesn't like the polls they tell us who to vote for. Pretty sad!
And Santorum's record isn't that great, he will be exposed soon enough and then who are they going to pick for us?
You don't call that kind of finish a photo finish. More like a flatline finish.
@BB; I have to agree with you about Santorum. He dosen't have a very good record and stayed out of the public eye pretty much after he lost re-election back in 06. I'm guess he was trying to put his record to sleep and not give people any ammo against him and yeah he did public appearences here and there and some of them didn't go too well for him either. He decided not to run for president back in 08 because he did have a full plate with the one guy that was getting in his face on google (a civil rights thing with a gay incident he commented on) so instead he pushed for Romney, which was actually a good move on his part. I guess now he had enough time to come up with some fresh ideas and put his past pretty much behind him. One thing he was after was welfare reform and thats going to be his ace in the hole for him, I think, because thats pretty much all he has going for him. He's hot on going to war with Iran and he's so anti gay its just might be a strong point for him if he does win. That will go over real strong for him in a lot of the southern states. If every repube out there goes and votes for him he still won't win, heck he won't even get Cheney's daughter's vote, but he will get the hard rights votes fairly easily. Wasn't one of Reagans daughters gay too, or maybe Reagans only daughter. I don't remember exactly now, but he's even going to have trouble getting all the repubes votes. Then he's going to get crushed in the debates with Obama. Nope, no chance for Dick Rectoreum, lol I think that was his goole nickname or something on those lines. It sure would be fun to watch him run, at least the circus won't end after the primaries with him running, the show will go on til he loses the election in Nov.
This is exactly is wrong with our voting system. Between the Media, the Two Parties. We are all being told get over it we are giving Obama another pass. Either the Media and the two Parties are idiots? Otherwise then its us the People who are idiots. It's far past time to exercise our Constitutional Rights to overthrow this current government. We are being told that this is the only thing the GOP has to offer? Then we saying the Democrats are the party of the people. Please "REALLY". Neither party is for the people. It is only for its own self existence. So as of lately it seems to me the GOP is on the pathway to self destruction. This is a travesty that we Americans are going to sit by and allow this to happen. It is time for a change and its not the one that is sitting in the Whitehouse whoring around with the same ole special interests.
As President I would be ashamed to being the leader of this nation where right now a larger number of Americans are on Food stamps. This I can confirm with the new job I work as a cashier in a major "C" Store chain in Portland, Or. When I see so many people from all walks of lives using Food Stamps tells me there is something significantly wrong with our country's economic policies.
Yet here on one hand we have Obama and his failed policies. Please go blame Bush elsewhere. Obama has been Prez long enough to now call it his watch. Then we have the presentation from the GOP this election cycle of Romney, Gingrich, Paul, etc etc. The conservatives in the GOP hate Romney, the Mods love him. The Right wing loves Gingrich, while the left of the middle love Paul. So now all of sudden Rick Santorum comes out of the background as the GOP alternative. " REALLY" GOP is this what your going to beat Obama with. Obama has already beat you GOP. He has done what he set out to do. That is to divide and conquer. Now the GOP is divided and conquered because you idiots can't get your heads out of your areses long enough to smell the coffee and listen to the Electorate. Our message has been lost in all this BS rhetoric over the years. THE real history of the GOP vs the Democrats most would find out that the real GOP was and in my heart still the Party of the People for the People and their Freedoms. While the Democrats want to destroy the very piece of paper that has allowed them to be elected into public office.
Its our Freedoms that are at stake this Election cycle and this is the choices we are going to have. Please come on. We as the GOP need to get back to our core values and become more tolerable on other issues. We have Gay's in the party. We have all the same types of people. The Republican Party is not just rich people, but also just old fashion hard working people. Its the system that is failing us. So we need to fix it. I am a conservative in some areas and a liberal in other areas. I align myself with the GOP. Yet I am disgusted with both parties. THIRD PARTY ANYONE?
Michele Bachmann promised us a miracle. Iowa Republicans prayed for guidance, but only 5 of every 100 conservative Iowans chose Michele Bachmann to be our next Republican Presidential nominee. It shows us how prayer works. Truly a miracle!
@TheSwordNPen79:
I definitely agree that the current two-party system we have is responsible for much of the problems that most Americans currently have with our government. The two parties in power in the United States have become so entrenched and have amassed so much excessive power that they essentially can no longer be removed from government. And, as that has occurred, the two parties have moved increasingly far from the center, becoming diametrically opposed on essentially every issue. Because most Americans actually reside rather close to the center, this forces Americans to simply vote for the candidate that they dislike the least as opposed to the candidate that they actually feel represents their interests and ideals. This is true in both primary and general elections.
The excessive power and overentrenchment of the Reps and Dems is due in large part to the campaign finance system and balloting rules that these parties have installed for themselves, which 1) keeps these parties in power, 2) ensures that no third party can ever become a legitimate option, and 3) causes elected representatives to focus only on the needs and desires of the party with which they affiliate and the few large organizational contributors to those parties, so that the representative can ensure that he or she has sufficient funding for the next reelection campaign.
This is not how a democracy is supposed to operate. Our representatives are supposed to focus on the needs of their constituents and not the party itself. I encourage everyone to check out the American Overhaul Act at www.americanoverhaulact.org, which proposes a set of Constitutional amendments designed to correct the systemic deficiencies that are allowing these problems to persist. The Act is focused on six areas of concern: Federal Election Campaign Reform, Elimination of Party Favoritism, Congressional Compensation Limits, Congressional Term Limits, Congressional Size Limits, and Federal Budget-Deficit Reform. Please check it out, and, if you agree with the proposals, show your support for the Act, and also share it with your friends and family so that we may continue to gain the support needed to cause our government officials to take notice of this Act.
What's the point? Neither lackey can beat Obama.
Mr. Frothy did pretty well. Keep that circular firing squad going!
Well it looks like the real clowns are out although I wish Blingrich was crushed even more.
Santorum gave a good speech but he's way too conservative for me, though. And how will he do under scrutiny?? Let's have a look at his record...
His record is Anti-Gay, Anti-Contraception, and Pro-War.
There is little that can be said in support of any of the candidates. They have all had their chance to serve the American People and all have proved that they only wish to be self serving. Without campaign finance reform we will never get good people in politics. I say we dub this campaign the "Parade of Losers"!
What's up with IOWA? Santorum? Really?
The results of the Iowa Circus are largely irrelevant. Iowa voters do not have a history of picking the eventual nominee anyway.
The people of Iowa--who are mostly white, rural-dwelling farmers and conservative Christians-- are not representative of the U.S. as a whole.
If this is the best the Republicans can offer the people of America, their candidates will continue to go down in flames one by one.
All this proves is with a few million dollars you can only buy about 25% of the votes. BHO has about a billion in his warchest he will be able to buy more votes. But not mine.
goes to show that even though their party has been taken over by bat$hit crazy lunatics, they'd still rather elect the guy who has realistic chances to win, being a proven flip flipper be d@mned...
Bosslimo....They were all cheering Bush? You've gotta be kidding me..... .. Stop with ignorant dis-info, man...
Eight votes? Sounds like a tie to me. Can't you people hear the hissing from the huge GOP vacuum? Anybody new, worth anything at all, will hit the top in a matter of days. I would have voted for McCain over Gore but instead we got a brain dead former alcoholic, that couldn't even speak English, that got us into two wars and helped set the stage for the third that is on the way. Voting for a "drinking buddy" shows just how pathetic our democracy has become. He didn't really win the election either. And now his pick of justices have loaded the deck to favor corporate puppets. Is that really what you people want? The way the media made Gore the villain for beating up the poor ignorant Georgie Pooh in the debates shows that money can indeed buy an election in this wonderful country of ours. What's next? I hate to even guess.
I find this night historic. It shows how a non-Christian can defeat a bigot who wishes to establish a theocracy. Baby step for the Republican party, but still good.
Gingrich: Romney beat me up in Iowa, I don't like him, he's a liar, I'll stay in the campaign just to destroy Romney, waaah, waaah, sniff, sniff.
Why is it so many politicians act like 3rd graders on the playground?
Mr. Anon
Romney got 25% of the vote. 75% was anti-Romney.
What baby step?
No state is representative of the country as a whole, just as no individual American can be pidgeon holed into a group. The only American candidate worthy of presidential consideration cannot be the 'pawn' of any party, but one who always emphasizes the promotion and protection of the only matters the American government (which is the representative of the People) oversees - the promotion and protection of peace, the promotion and protection of personal liberty and the promotion and protection of sound money. Embracing the talking heads and stuffed suits who promise to fill personal wishlists at the expense of the country's stability, security and success are not presidential candidates. They serve to buy the people and own their liberties. Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who speaks truth to lies. Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who won't back down from doing what is right in the face of all that is wrong. He is the only one who will not send Americans off to war carelessly. He is the only one who will defend your personal rights to live your own life as you see fit, who recognizes property rights, that knows the money you earn is yours to save or spend it as you see fit, who will not promote a false government that tells you what to think or how to act. Ron Paul is not the best any 'party' can offer the people of America, he is the only candidate, running or seated, whose Constitutional platform is worthy of the American people. Ron Paul 2012! He won't back down.
Mitt looks sooooooooooo happy. Isn't it refreshing that a rich person can buy an election?
Santorum late game surge was because of the late surge of Coch Bros money.
Now more scrutiny will be focused on Santorum, which will make it more difficult for him to sustain himself.
The 'smart money' is still on Romney. As for Obama, he's in for a rough campaign - What's he going to run on - his handling of the economy?
My personal election model for the 2012 elections estimates Obama would get only about 42% of the vote (if held today) - principally because of a 6% drop in people who self-identify as Democrats, a significant drop in support from Independents and perhaps a small drop in Hispanic support, and an estimated 3% drop in likely voters among the young (under 30) as they return to their normal voting pattern.
In the 2008 elections, the total difference in the popular vote for Obama can be accounted for by high school dropouts (63% voted for Obama) and young voters (66% voted for Obama) who will likely return to more normal voting patterns in 2012. When combined with the dramatic swing in Independent voters against Obama in current polls, and fewer self-identified Democrats, it looks quite bleak for Obama's reelection chances, and since Obama's only chance is to run a very negative campaign of distraction from the economy, it will likely dampen turnout even further, which will likely hurt the Democrats in Congressional races as well. It's unlikely that the $Billion that Obama will spend will help him much. Obama himself said in 2009 that "If I haven't turned the economy around within 3 years, I'll be a one term President". At least he's right about THAT.
If you folks truely believe the vote count, please go watch the documentary, Invisible Ballots. It is at, free view documentaries dot com. The video is about two hours long, but you will truely learn how corrupt our electronic votting machine are, and designed on purpose! What's more disguisting, you will learn how bush won the election in 2000! And he did not win the election he stole it by these electronic votting machines! Sadily not one att. general will do anything about it! Why? Because both sides do this! And most of the american population have no clue to the deception they are faced with daily. The tv media, our congressmen, our federal government that no longer protect us! Crooks!
@PJ-1795048,
IOWA, Idiots
Out
Wandering
Around
Santorum needs to go get bent.
The truth is that no one running for President (including Obama) this time is as good a choice than George Bush JR., like it or not it is the truth. Deal with it. I miss George, at least he was a leader, something none of these others ever has been.
"Tuesday's results also raise fresh questions about the viability of Perry and Bachmann"
Fresh????? When were they EVER "Viable"????????? And to who??????
Ron Paul is in the same bunch ... Viable ... REALLY????
mgo ... are you looking for an argument or did you just escape from a mental institution???
mgo::: A leader of WHAT? That's right, he lead us into two illegal wars for no real reason except to avenge the attempt on his daddy's life-- and over 4,000 of our guys died. And he never budgeted for his wars-- just came up with need for "emergency funding" all the time. He lead us into unfunded Medicare Part D.
John Mahlmann
This time its not "the party" you Obama supporters are up against, its the people of all parties who want their country back and the socialist trend stopped and our Constitution followed.
Romney would have gotten my vote but his little speech killed it for me, I think killing Obama care is needed but he came off as someone that just says what he thinks people want to hear, and that reflected in his son's faces, they did not look truly convinced about what their father was saying he would do .... The reason I'm not looking to vote for Obama is I think his weak and gives to many concessions I want someone that is not going to give away the farm and can stand their ground when push gets to shove ...
The two GOP front-runners walk into a bar... bartender says "Why the long faces"?
I need to sit down and do the math, but in a general election I think it boils down to this:
Paul would get some of the voters from all other GOP candidates, but not all... he has a fear factor larger than Obama's in some circles.
Santorum would get all voters from Perry, Bauchmann, and Paul, but no one from the center or left. He would get SOME voters from Romney and Gingrich.
Romney would get all the voters from Santorum, Perry, Bachmann, and Paul, PLUS Gingrich voters and some from the center.
Clearly Romney would br the leading GOP contender in the general election... without question.
It still won't be enough to win, though. Romney's not convincing the center that his solutions are viable... he needs to make them forget Bush... become more the anti-Bush than anti-Obama. Sad but true.
All the candidates grin too much. Before you vote, look behind their faces.
WOW!!! big win for mr corporate...once again sheeple vote for that corporate look...as their communities evaporate...
@mgo, The crazy thing about your post, is that you actually sound like your serious. So you miss Dubya because he was a leader. Most people are trying to forget about that bozo and your missing him? I don't know what to say, I'm at a loss of words here. Maybe the first time this has ever happened to me. I can ask you a few things, but I'm not. So anyhow you just might have a spitting image of Dubya running this time. Yes Santorum, anti gay, anti contraseptive and pro war. What more can you ask for, thats a hard right candidate for you in the true footsteps of Dubya if I ever seen one and the best part about Santorum, he didn't support Dubya. You know why? Because they are too much alike that they can't get along together. Then this should get Santorum a few votes, hard right conservatives will be thinking how come this guy didn't run against Dubya, he just may have been a little better than Dubya had he did run then. Myself, because he's so much like Dubya and a PA sen. I wouldn't even give him the time of day now. He's a true bozo too and almost exactly like Dubya, another spoiled rich boy, but from PA. Thats the only difference between Santorum and Dubya, Santorums from PA.
Oooops, I failed to mention I'm from PA and I remember Santorum only way to well. One of the beauties he came up with back then was, "How come people need to retire when they're 62, or 65. He had a buddy that was 75 and still very productive everyday. So people can work a lot longer than just 62". Yes, honest that was Dick Rectorem that said that. I'm not even going to go into how I feel about that comment, except for this spoiled kid never worked a day in his life and if he had tried to put in a real days work one time, he would be fired.
Rich's Real - "Michele Bachmann promised us a miracle. Iowa Republicans prayed for guidance, but only 5 of every 100 conservative Iowans chose Michele Bachmann to be our next Republican Presidential nominee. It shows us how prayer works. Truly a miracle!"......................
Your misundertanding of prayer and how it works is lacking any knowledge. One thing though, the result in this case does show how prayer works. Sincere prayer is always answered. It may not be the answer you want and it might not be in the time frame hoped for but the prayer will be answered. It definetly appears that Bachmann's was answered. It is not her time. She realizes this and has suspended her campaign for the time being.
"prayer is always answered" is a convenient answer. Every situation will have an end result so to say that the prayer was answered is just another "fill in the blank" of the holes in religious justification for everthing in life. A miracle is not someone winning an election and if a candidate uses that terminology for her qualifications for thinking she can become president, then dropping out is inevitable--not a prayer answered.
Remember, Mrs. Bachman told us that God told her to get in the race and now He is telling her "it's not her time"? Geez--even He is a flip-flopper! Sorry to burst your dogma but It's the CAUCUS attendees in Iowa that told her "it's not her time", not the Almighty.
vote RON PAUL to save America!
but if people end up electing these front-men, maybe America doesn't deserve to be saved.
Once again, I remind you that Bush is a four-letter word now. He is the name that can not be spoken.
Not one single candidate has brought him up in their speeches. Why?
Because even the die-hard conservatives know he sucked that bad.
Quite interesting how all of the major Republican candidates (except Romney, he's a moderate at heart despite what he's said recently) wish to make this country a theocracy, when their first president, Abraham Lincoln, was quite possibly an atheist (he certainly wasn't a Christian during most of his presidency). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln_and_religion
Mr. Anon, I'm shocked! Of course A. Lincoln was a devout christian. And so was G. Washington, B. Franklin, T. Jefferson, etc. etc. etc. If they are respectful successful leaders, then they will be co-opted by the religious right. If they don't give a hoot about an imaginary myth, then they will be condemned by the religious right as a non-leader and the religious right will scream "America needs a leader!"
LMAO
Newscover, in case you are an idiot, the whole congress voted for these two wars (that actually disagreed with by the way) and everything Obama has done with the wars George already had laid-out for him including the time tables. If you don't think this was already pre-ordained, just keep your eye's on Syria and Iran. As long as the unemployment numbers stay above 8%, we will invade someone else. For every man they deploy, there are 5 supporting jobs back home. If they bring a half million soldiers home there will be 3 million new unemployed workers (5 supporting + 1 soldier) and no president is going to do that to themselves. They do not care how many they get killed as long as they can retain power and electability.
mgo-1426388
I'm pretty sure OBL was not on the list of things to do with Bush. I'm pretty sure Libya wasn't either. Was healthcare reform on that time table? How about the complete removal of all troops in Iraq?
So, the great GW Bush laid it all out on a time table for Obama to follow? Do tell, why are the republicans attacking him on it every chance they get then, instead of saying he is doing what Bush planned?
mgo, if pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan was a Republican plan, why did John McCain strongly oppose Obama's plans to end Iraq during the 2008 campaign? Let's just assume that George W. Bush actually wanted to withdraw for Iraq for now. All this proves is that in his later years, Bush did some good things that were not representative of the Republican Party.
Mr.Anon, I was refering to Iraq and Afhganistan. It wasn't a Republican plan and George did not concern himself with this nutjob McCain. For the most part, outside of the Religious right, George did what he thought was right. Obama has not done any of the things he said including closing Club Gitmo has he?
The president has a solid success rate, whether you agree with his policies or not.
http://www.politicususa.com/en/maddow-obama-agenda
I always see a person bringing up a topic that was blocked by opponents and claim failure on the president. Conveniently, they just say the president failed at something without giving the reasons why he did.
Bosslimo, the current president has both successes and losses.
The war on terror progress is a definite success. Kudos.
The economy is a loss so far.
The health care I consider partial win and partial loss. Yes he got health care, but had to cave on the mandate to do it. He won the primary over Hillary because he was not going to implement a mandate. Also, by going so aggressively at health care his ticked off most of the country.
Budget control is a to be determined. I have seen minor progress on things like selling property, cutting the number of reams of paper used, now talk (not action yet) on military budget. However, I have seen a larger increase in spend. I have seen the president miss opportunities to push the bi-partisan proposals to get us out of this mess.
I am aware of his missed opportunities. I am also aware of the fillibusters against him.
As stated, I was commenting on his success rate. That's promises given to promises kept.
As for the economy, the economy is powered by
greed, er, profit. Not presidents. The president and the Democrats do not come across as credible to me on the filibuster argument.
The Democratic party owned the executive and legislative for 2 years. The top priority in those 2 years was pushing through a health care bill which mandates that every American citizen purchase health insurance. A plan that the Democratic primary voters rejected by voting Barack Obama over Hilary Clinton. The health insurance law was prioritized over creating jobs, balancing the budget, and anything else. Any remainder time during those 2 years was spent bad mouthing every large industry left in the US. Then surprise surprise the Republicans won control over the house and gain additional control in the Senate.
Democrats were not the only Americans that voted for Barack Obama.
Barack Obama and the Democratic party for 2008-2010 forgot that they represented ALL Americans, not just Democrats. That is why they lost the ability to get anything else done.
It seems the Republicans have not been paying attention either and are at risk of making the same mistake the Democrats did in 2008-2010 by forgetting they represent ALL the people of the US.
If either party wants me to take them seriously they will start by putting the bi-partisan Simpson Bowles plan to the House and Senate floor.
It'll never happen. Removing tax breaks is the same as raising taxes, according to the leader of the republican party, Norquist. Since republicans have pledged their allegience to him instead of the flag, the Simpson Bowles plan will be dead on the House floor.
No, you forgot the blue dog democrats. You also forgot that the democrats did not have a super minority. It even took a republican (Snow) to get the HCR passed.
Since single payer and public option were off the books, what else was left? HCR was watered down by republicans but at least it is a start. Thats more than we can say for the past 70 years.
I will agree that the focus needs to be on the American people, not the politician's pocket. Instead, the focus is on making this president a one term one, and going back to the status quo that put us where we are today.
One must ask themselves if they really want to return to the failed policies of the past or decide with their vote to leave it where it belongs, in the past.
The Simpson Bowles plan could have been easily brought to floor by Democrats while they still had a majority. President Barack Obama failed to endorse the plan produced by the bi-partisan panel he commissioned. Missed opportunity.
The question is why was any health reform on the table when the American public wanted jobs? Why was any plan to increase the US governments entitlement programs on the books when the US government can not afford the current entitlement programs.
I do not understand the Democrat logic behind blaming the Republicans when the Democrats had majority in house, senate, and president 2008-2010.
The blue dog Democrats are Democrats. It is not a Republican problem that the Democrats did not agree.
If there is really an issue that you think a bulk of American voters want then why not do what local elections do and add a referendum on the ballots. Let the people decide if they want HCR.
Look, there was a 70% favor for HCR. That was, until the health insurance cartel bombarded the population with propaganda. Go to most of your TEA party anti-HCR rallies and look at the blue shirts with Blue Cross logos on them.
You need to understand the times during the span of 2008-2010. If you weren't for the president, you were against the nation. They portrayed any opposed to the administration as terrorists. Not only that, but the nation rallied behind them. What would you have the democrats do? Go rogue, so the Bush Administration can fill Gitmo up with them?
No, it isn't a republican problem if democrats did not agree, that is exactly my point, it was a democrat problem. Democrats did not have a super majority and 6 of the dems were in republican states.
Healthcare cartels are one of the two remaining cartels in the nation, them and big oil. The rest are illegal. Why are they illegal? Monopoly. Anyone one with common sense knows the insurance companies were dropping clients the second the clients needed them. Denial of service for the young, the old, the ill, and the constant price gouging led to the need for reform. It is not just a state issue, it is an issue for the nation.
On your thoughts, here's what would happen. In a state where HCR did not exist, the sick would visit another state for help that had HCR, much like the Palins crossing into Canada for their healthcare.
Here is tha actual problem. You have a social issue that can not be solved with capitalism. You have a capitalist society. The government must mandate HC so that the social issue will be addressed while capitalism is pacified.
Is it a win-win? More like a lose-lose. However, it is a start. It's more than we had. The representatives need to mold it into a more viable system, but abolishing reform will do more harm than good.
Uh 2009-2011 is the first 2 years of President Obama's administration. I was off by 1 year. President Obama's term started in Jan 2009. President Bush was a lame duck in 2008. I can not remember 1 positive comment about President Bush in 2008.
The "health insurance cartel" just got larger thanks to HCR. HCR did nothing to tackle the health care providers or their "costs" so I can not call it the healthcare anything. The capitalist solution was starting to happen. Individuals were starting to do the math to determine it was cheaper to pay the health care providers directly. Health care clinics were starting to pop up offering their own cheaper health plans.
In this case I would rather have a working solution than a half donkey half elephant one. If it were me, I would have had to eat crow and vote NO on a plan that forced a working class family to go hungry because they had to pay a fine for not purchasing a health insurance plan they could not afford. If I believed the problem was the health insurance companies, I would certainly not have voted to line the health insurance companies pockets with 86.7 million new clients and killed the only competition to their monopoly.
Of course I do not believe that health insurance is the only part of health care costs that are over-bloated.
Wow, I did blunder the dates.
Under the plan, subsidies are provided for those unable to afford healthcare.
Does it go far enough? Heck no. Should it be repealed? Heck no. It needs a make-over for sure. Can you say. "Public Option"? That's what the plan needs to be competitive and lower costs. But with all the fearmongering about "socialism", that didn't happen. It is indeed, a half-baked plan.
Yes, other factors are involved. Hospitals charging $12.00 for two aspirin? $3.50 for a bandaid? All to curtail the cost of non-payers, they claim. However, it has been proven to me that hospitals sue and garnish wages for the debt. When they get that money owed, do they reimburse the patient? Yet, every hospital I've seen has a new wing being built or "under construction".
In the issue of healthcare, I would rather see something done than nothing. Too many have died from the word "denied". Isn't it a sad irony that those who issue the word denied to so many people was able to awash the nation in propaganda claiming reform was a death panel?
The insurance still costs money. The mandate still costs money. And there is no control in the plan that keeps the costs from going up. So the money is taken out of one family budget item and shifted to insurance. The family may or may not need health care but they certainly need the food and roof. The government has now chosen for them that health care is more important than food and a roof. There was also medicaid prior to the plan.
Aren't there laws about usury and price gouging? Where is the law that says you can not discriminate between clients. Why should one patient be charged a different rate than another? Why are hospitals not required to post their fees?
I would rather do something that makes the problem better than nothing. If the something makes the problem worse I would rather do nothing. The death panel and socialism talk is noise. What is not noise to me is the added mandate and the lack of price controls. Without those this well intentioned do something could result in a worse problem.
I agree with your assessment. As I stated, it definately needs work. But, it is a start. A start that has been needed for 70 years.
Far from perfect, we must tolerate the politics involved and work to move the reform forward, where everyone can benefit. It needs a public option. We should not rely on the perceptions of the healthcare insurance companies to sway opinion like it did before.
Repealing HCR is not an option at this point. Currently, too many have benefited from it to go back to the way it was. Society gets used to a social item and tends to cling to it. "No more government!" and "Keep your hands of my social security and medicare!" spoken in one breathe.
We will need to mold the HCR into a better plan.
All I can say, is I hope it is NOT Gingrich. If forced to chose between Gingrich or Obama, I'd vote for Obama before Gingrich. I'd seen more of Gingrich then I'd care to remember from the 1990s, and don't buy this whole "but he's a changed man" routine. There is no way in hell I'd ever vote for Gingrich.... I wouldn't even vote Gingrich for dog catcher, after all we saw of him 10+ years ago :o
Agreed, voting for the "new" Newt is like voting for the "new" Nixon in 1968. Remember how that worked out?
Hey! I hear you. I also remember Newt in the 90s. Too much baggage.
I'm not sure how Newt is still in the republican party... after the republicans kicked him out. He's like one of the people under the stairs.
Yeah Gingrinch has changed!!! He doesn't cheat on this wife, anymore (he says). Why would "values voters" object? Mr. "Hates Gays, and can barely wait to start bombing Iran" ties for the lead. With the one who came up with one good idea in his long career, (compulsary insurance), and can't wait to "disavow" it, also in the tie. Followed closely by the "Wouldn't it be nice if we could just go back to 1880, in this country?" guy. Bringing up the rear are the other dwarfs, looking for ways to force the rest of us to live the way they think we should. What a party, huh? Can't wait til they take over again!!
Interesting how these Obama "volunteer" posters are still slamming Gingrich. I think that is who they fear most. So he has been married three times, and they keep pointing this out which is laughable since they support gay marriage, welfare for those that keep having kids with multiple dads but don't marry any of them, and abortion for teens without parental notification. Give me a break with the "moral" Bull crap up against their own amoral trends.
@shaking my head I think you misunderstand people when they point out that Gingrich has been married 3 times/cheated on his wife/etc. While he has done all of this, he is still preaching about the sanctity of marriage as the reason why the GLBT community should not "be allowed" to marry. Do you not see the hypocrisy in that? I think you should rethink your last statement: "Give me a break with the "moral" Bull crap up against their own amoral trends"
Afraid of Newt? Afraid of Newt?! Please, nominate Newt! Yeah, Newt's that one. That's the spirit. Nominate the real face of the GOP. Hypocrisy, cheating, self-aggrandizement. a legend in his own mind. The GOP is totally out of touch with reality. The GOP voters are either disgusted with what has happened to their party or are living in LA LA land. So, please, pretty please, nominate Newt. Just the comedy would be worth it alone.
Signed supportive democrat.
Where are all the usual trolling libs.
Working over time on figuring out how they will counter a big turnout with a big romney win.
Losing battle though Obama is a FAILURE and it's NO secret!
Stupid is, as stupid does!!! Sure, Rob, anything you say. 60% of people are truly stupid, and you're NO exception. I feel sorry for your brainwashed mind. Now go joinn your flock!
Obama is a failure? You do realize that the Romney & Obama positions are virtually identical, don't you?
Take ten minutes and really put thought into the major differences between George Bush, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
i'll bet you $10,000 that Romney doesnt win in Iowa- it takes someone who worked at Bain Capitol to make that kind of wager.
Glad to compare Obama's record of 21 month's private sector job growth when on month one he was losing 750,000 jobs per month and compare that to Romneys "job creating record in Mass.". What did Bain do again- oh yeah buy then liquidate a lot of companies and a lot of working Americans lost their jobs. But then it does take someone special, unusual, part of the 1% to make those $10,000 bets.
Remember- corporations are people too, my friend. Especially under the Roberts court- birds of a feather and all that stuff.
Romney kind of reminds me of Yosama Sam- just waiting for him to insert his foot in his mouth and for the dynamite to explode.
Of course, rob: We are SO worried about Romney!
****Laughing*****
Rob in Mass- make you another $10,000 bet that in the end he releases his tax return and we all learn his money is from capital gains so he only pays a 15% rate. Kind of like Buffet's secretary. Want to take that bet?
Obama in 2012 and let the RepubliCON clown show continue
rob you vomit your usual drivel but you provide scant evidence of your opinion. If you think people will vote for that robot after they find out exactly what this BUSINESSMAN did and Bain Capital, you are nuttier than some of your posts already indicate.
Pax:
You are right about EVERYTHING!
cept Romney's NOT going to release his tax returns!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!
Jungleboogie, Please don't burst these peoples bubble, Obama, Bush, & Romney all the same? I could not agree more. I get a big laugh how people don't see this. I would love to have Paul prove people wrong who are accusing him of being racist. He seems to be sincere, but who really knows? He seems to be the only real hope & change.
The only one who has a chance of winning against Obama is Ron Paul. People still want to hang on to their hope and people still want change in government. The increasing pool of Independent voters will, again, decide the election (unless it is rigged, of course, But republicans only believe the election is rigged when they lose... sigh.....)
Jo-an has conceded for Romney's campaign because if he wins he has to release his tax return it's required of the president.
For a "failure," his presidency is doing a pretty good job. Very good, if you consider the obstructionism he's facing.
@Toasty
obstructionism? I thought I saw bi-partisan kissing while Dems & Repubs were merrily passing the NDAA. That's some kind of obstruction.
Great obstruction on:
Libya, Afghanistan. Free trade with South Korea. North American trade corridor. They still think it was a good idea to run FEMA under Homeland Security. Big bi-partisan love-in for SOPA.
All I see is a disagreement on spending cuts/taxes.
You really watch too much mainstream media toasty. Take a step back, take it all in.
The backslappers in Washington really have you fooled.
How do you feel now, with all of your projections? Big Romney win? Bahaahaaahaaa! Big turnout? Bahaahaaahaaa! Where were all the libs? Doing things that interested them, thats where. We knew there would be nothing worth reading about until around 11 PM. We definitely werent sitting in front of our computers chewing our nails, on the edge of our seats about this goofy caucus, thats for sure!
Rob in ma-3189632
We figured at this point you extremist are doing a very good job at campaigning for us. So good in fact that we really need to say very little. I do have one question for you extremists though... ifn ya do win... are ya's gunna pay us lil folks at least 2 dolla an hour? I pwomise I work a harda and bringa my owna barfa bagga ta werk for ya's sos I dun require any down time shud I getta sicka.
JungleBoogie, How do we get people to read about what is really going on? This is not some BS information, it is available for all to see and on U.S. Government websites, but so many refuse to look because it did not come to them in blurbs or soundbites.
2012 NDAA and SOPA are some serious shyt, People, Google those topics (while you still can.....) Look, listen, LEARN!
And yet Danaelle her you post. I would just say to "I need a paxil" that your version of what Romney did with Bain is ludicrous. Read about him on Wikipedia and they detail the companies he helped turn from complete disasters to profitable again. Staples wanted to turn their entire operation over to him after he brought them back from the verge of complete dissolution. Get your facts straight! Romney understands how to turn things around like he's done time and time again and you liberal whiners are sure to propagandize against him because you know if a Republican brings the U.S. back from where Obama has taken us, it'll be lights out for you dems!
Pres Obama's so called failure rest heavily in the fact that he was initially very naive. He believed in a set of rules and standards that the GOP refused to play by. In fact, the GOP has done all it can to change the rules, like; signing an agreement with Grover Norquist that might be contrary to the will of the people. Also, refusing to allow a vote or in some cases, a referendum to come to the floor for debate. They have screamed and cried and even made fools of themselves by saying one thing today and a different thing tomorrow. The GOP did this because although it is the will of the majority to be governed by Barack Obama, a black man; they could not be adult enough to except the loss of their all boy's club to someone that they were taught is of a lesser species than themselves. Obama's presidency flies fully into the faces of their lying parents, friends and relatives that told them, "No black monkey is your equal son!"
I understand the white race better than most blacks because I studied them as they studied us. Whites believe with all their hearts that America belongs to them. That even though occupied by the Gaháe, this land was meant to be theirs if they were willing to slaughter the Gaháe to get it. Whites also believe that they are a superior race to all other nationalities and therefore should govern all things for as far as the eye can see. They also believe that they should have ownership of other human beings and that those humans should be willing to serve on bent knees and they do not agree with that ideology they should be first tortured and then slain.
Soooooo, everything else that is going on with this upcoming election comes down to one simple thing, "we want our white house back! it wasn't built for you so get out! so there!!!"
jesus h nipple on a biscuit. i guess you forgot already, miss short-term-memory! IT WAS A LOUSY GODDAM GOP PRESIDENT and GOP CONGRESS that drove us into this cesspool!!
Obama 2012!
I'm white and I simply believe that if there is a God and that God created this earth, then had he planted a no trespassing sign on every piece of land he built, there'd be none of us going anywhere. I like the Obamas. They have good hearts and good intentions. The biggest mistake the President has made was ever even considering compromising with the republicans in the beginning. They created this mess and they did it intentionally with backroom voting and well conceived lies to the world while they had the majority for six years. He should have known better and simply listened to the democrat majority we gave him and exposed each and every democrat that party line voted with the republicans. Those democrats should have been booted out of office period. Hopefully he learned his lesson and used the power we give him this time around or there will be no fixing this republican made mess for the next fifty years.
So our choice for president will come down to Barack Obomney vs. Mitt Robama.
Hey Rob this is a Liberal newsvine. Do you need a map to find your way back to faux or comcast? I know they don't allow you to state your opinions freely there and we do but don't ask where are the Libs on a libvine jartard...
Gary says, "I would love to have Paul prove people wrong who are accusing him of being racist."
I would love to see that also. There is just one little problem standing in the way of that, however. As Reagan would put it, "Facts are stubborn things."
JC Breeze: What planet do you live on?
JC, the fact that you generalize and categorize people based on the color of their skin makes you no better than the average racist. There are plenty of black people who believe that America belongs to them, and plenty of white people who don't believe that America belongs to them.
The criticism of Obama I hear daily has nothing to do with the color of his skin, rather it's more the introspective rumblings of voters kicking themselves for voting in one of the most inexperienced and unprepared presidents in the history of this country. He makes a good speech, but has demonstrated little leadership ability. A true leader would figure out how to work with both sides of the aisle. The majority Democrats in Congress had it out for Reagan, but he figured out how to work with them. The majority Republicans in Congress had it out for Clinton, but he figured out how to work with them. And they both got a lot accomplished. I see little of that ability in Obama. He'd rather spend his time out on the road campaigning, than wheeling and dealing with members of either legislative branch. His apologists make all sorts of excuses for him (e.g. blaming GOP obstructionism, etc), but these dynamics are nothing new. Every President wrestles with it, and the better ones figure it out. This President simply has no idea what he's doing, and that absolutely has nothing to do with the color of his skin, or any other excuse you want to grasp at...
JC Breeze
I'm a liberal but I must be one of the whites you didn't study. Throwing all whites into your description is like throwing all Muslims into a terrorism description.
I will agree, however, that most conservatives might fit your description. But most liberals, regardless of race, don't see themselves that way.
The Unit Toad
Ron Paul is indeed a racist. In is perfect world, all ammendments would be abolished in the constitution. The Old West would be the new west. Think your roads and infastructure is poor now? You'll be driving on dirt when he was done. But all that would be worth it if every citizen at the age of 16 got guns instead of driver's licenses.
Bosslimo - Though I hold no particular party affiliation, I do lean toward a more conservative train of thought. Having said that, your comment about conservatives fitting JC Breeze's description is merely liberal bias that perpetuates the polarization of this country.
I in NO way hold the views he claims all whites share. In fact, he is one pretty messed up individual if he honesty thinks, in a general sense, that his ideas fit the majority of white Americans. He is not as versed in white America as he claims.
Well I give--I google'd Gaháe and still can't figure out what I'm supposed to hate/own/slaughter. I thought I was just trying to make a living, pay my mortgage, and treat others as I'd want to be treated. Apparently I missed some important lessons in white school.
I can tell ya why Ron Paul is doing so well. And I hope he wins or makes himself the 3rd canadate. People are alot smarter than they used to be. The information age makes it darn near impossable to hide anything. All the lies and back door deals are now revealed more and more. Ron Paul has been talking about the BS on the hill for years. He has both the dems and rep scared. So the way I see it. Ron Paul will do better as time goes by. Every one of my friends think like this. If the mainstream media promotes a runner. We vote for the one they dont talk about. I used to love watching fox news. But this coverage is the last straw. I have watched them blow off Ron Paul as well as Rick and Michelle. Hannity from fox just kills me. How do ya leave a no spin zone then roll into a die hard GOP. Hannity to me is like this. If the parties was black and white. Hannity would be a racist
Hey Paxil, where's my $10,000.00 dollars. You shot your mouth off and now I want to be paid. You made the bet, now pay up big mouth.
A margin of 8 votes is a big win? Maybe if you're running for third grade class president. However, at least Mitt did win. He's a buffoon, but all the rest are batsh-t crazy.
It's over for old Ron Paul. His best chance was in Iowa and that's over and he lost. ..
@ JC....
"Pres Obama's so called failure rest heavily in the fact that he was initially very naive. He believed in a set of rules and standards that the GOP refused to play by. I was right there with ya up to that point....Then for some reason you went off into the most racist rant....You are probably one of the reasons that stuff like this still exsists in todays society. As long as folks still have and share these kinds of values that you have....be them, white, black, red, brown, yellow.. or even purple for that matter; the issue of race will NEVER DIE! I for one am very offended at your views, and if that is how you truely feel....please refrain from spreading your hate and discontent so the rest of society can move forward. I do forgive you for your ignorance though, its not entirely your fault, It appears that you were brought up to think the world is against you and all is bad and ugly. Ignorance is the absence of knowledge.....there is nothing wrong with being ignorant....but your stupid if you stay that way.
The media is continuing to ignore or minimize Ron Paul's support. Did you notice in the MSN story that both Romney and Santorum's results were show in votes but Paul's was show in percentage points? I mean, gee, with Romney getting 30,115 votes, Santorum gettin 30,007, and "old Ron Paul" only getting 21.4% of the vote? Gosh, sounds like Paul was trounced, doesn't it? The truth? Romney got 24.6% of the vote, Santorum got 24.5%, and Paul got 21.4%. Sort of changes the story, doesn't it?
I can see the ballot for the general election--- Barack Obama vs Mickey Mouse. As for the VP spot, it will be Hillary Clinton (D) or Donald Duck (R).
Americans are moving away from 'fast food' politics and aren't going to settle for zero substance anymore, no matter who's throwing the party. It takes a long time to turn the country around - in the face of the mantra of the status quo and presidential no shows, and those whose vision is limited to the space between the recliner and the television. And to the 'back to the old frontier' tactics some propose will happen if the foundation of the Constitution is again followed - without government's heavy hand, Americans will be free to fly higher than ever before. Freedom feeds creativity and advancement, it doesn't squelch it, much more than any government agency can ever do. Fear is freedom only to the caged bird. Ron Paul 2012!
I need a paxil
"i'll bet you $10,000 that Romney doesnt win in Iowa- it takes someone who worked at Bain Capitol to make that kind of wager."
Too bad you lost that bet.
Maybe paxil was betting Romney wouldn't win the general in Iowa? In which case, I would not take that bet.
If the US Constitution were upheld we wouldn’t be in the toilet today. There is not one immoral word in Ron Paul’s American Sovereignty Act of 2009, Federal Reserve Transparency Act, and American Travelers Dignity Act of 2011 (forbidding the sex-offender groping of passengers) or his bill cutting off monies for Constitutionally illegal wars, his bill repealing the Constitutionally illegal Patriot Act, the Constitutionally illegal military commissions act, the Constitutionally illegal income tax, the Constitutionally illegal surveillance of American citizens, and dozens of Constitutionally illegal abuses literally turn our nation into a police state. The only thing Ron Paul threatens are the self-appointed few who are now sacrificing the many for their ill-gotten gain.
Way to nail it brother.
Ron Paul 2012
Go Ronny!
Ah, yeah that shining example that you ron righties adore. The constitution. Until it bumps up against your prejudices and suddenly you want to alter it. The Constitution was written by wise but not godlike dieties who could do no wrong. This is what you muddle heads don't get. The constitution was written some 250 plus years ago when there were three million people living in the country whose average lifespan was 40 years old. Things have gotten a little more complicated now. So while the constitution provides a FRAMEWORK, it is hardly the infallible word of god that you would have it to be.
The Constitution is an ever evolving document and changes/updates need to be made to reflect the times we live in. I'm just saying!
@phillycap
Horsecrap, Ron Paul does not want to alter the Constitution so quit putting words in his mouth like a typical uninformated liberal. The fundamentals of the Constituion still hold great value even in modern times. The ironic part is that while you have no respect for the 2nd Amendment, you throw a hissy fit when the police violate your freedom of speech while you're protesting in parks and blocking traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge.
The main complications we face these days are liberal dimwits such as yourself who want to make radical changes to everything this country stands for. Ever expanding government, ever expanding regulaition, and the constant erosion of our freedoms. Those things were never ment to be "updated" into our national framework.
First of all, and get it straight for a change!, the OWS movement is not a liberal movement, it is not a commie, socialist, or anarchist movement. It is not an Obama support system. It is not a bunch of hippies demanding free handouts. It is about getting the moneyed hands out of our government and returning government to the people. You want to know what I meant by the Republican mandate, cookie? It is YOUR belief system. It is people like you who don't bother to do any research but still feel the need to judge. It is people that don't want to compromise because they believe that their view is the right way for everyone to live.
Vote for Obama if you want to be a slave.
LH, Ron Paul doesn't give two @!$%#s about the Constitution. Have you seen his voting record? The full one, not the selections he puts on his website.
I find his theocratic "We the People Act" and anti-gay "Marriage Protection Act" deeply immoral, and fundamentally unAmerican.
Except for a few thoughts on the Fed, Ron Paul doesn't make any sense.
...and what about the amendments to the Constitution; the ones that declare fairness with regards to opportunities for people like me; so called "minorities?" Should such amendments be simply discarded in favor of the racist whose ancestors brought my ancestors to this land in chains to be the slaves of white people and then who screamed, "Go back to Africa ni**er!" when blacks would no longer serve? Should these stalwart amendments be stricken?
What about the language that gives your own women the right to vote or to be treated as equals as well? If the Constitution of these United States be not correctable nor amendable, if its strict doctrine is to be accepted blindly with no calculations of any future events and never be it altered under any circumstance, if human people be not a reason for this noble nation to evolve; to change course when change is what is needed, then this document's greatest use would become the equivalent and nothing more...than toilet paper!
The constitution is a living document, and has always been so. It would be TP as you say, if it were not able to be changed to improve the standard of living, and the original equal rights to all (MANKIND) men.
@JC your other anger issue about slavery, and minorities might be something that you could help correct. Slavery is not dead, and is still a major trade in many countries around the world, and it is not, nor has it ever been only one race selling, stealing, and pillaging. Instead of focusing that anger on what America did 500-600 years ago, why not create a concerted effort to free slaves around the globe?
Nemesis9. Ron Paul makes perfect sense. It's just hard for most people to grasp his ideologies in today's world. People feel they need government assistance in every aspect, but really that's what screwed the entire nation over in the first place. If only the general public knew about the pursuit of FEMA CAMPS and the POLICE STATE we have going on right now. Do any of you tards know about the NDAA? This country has been hijacked by foreign bankers for ages. And Toasty Mcgrath, where the heck are you getting your sources from? The only thing he did that was unconstitutional was agreeing that we should have a day in remembrance of MARTIN LUTHER KING. But no he's a racist because the hijacked bull#$% mainstream media says so. MSNBC, BBC, FOX...You're all a joke and have lost all credibility as far as I'm concerned.
The only reason I want Ron Paul to stay in the race is to keep the clown aspect going and to split the Repub vote.
Obama shining compared to the continuing GOP clown circus coming to your town soon!!!
Dear god. How can the American people be so stupid??!!!! Ron Paul a clown? All you Obama tards don't even present anything valid... But then again if you guys would actually take the time to do some research I'm 100% sure your opinion would change. Unless of course you want humanity to be enslaved.
The Non-Sheeple
Your avitar claims you represent the non-followers.
Your words claim you follow Ron Paul.
Ron Paul wants to abolish the amendments. One of them is freeing slaves. Fearmongering slavery as a Ron Paul follower tells me you might want to do some research so your opinion might change.
oh Geez, someone had to bring up "minorities" Like get over it.. I am so sick of hearing about Minorities. Look up you history and you will find that the African tribes people would capture and sell you butts to the slave traders. We all know in this day and age it is wrong however if you want to blame someone blame your cousins in Africa! In Fact lets get a Republican in office so all this minority crap can go the byway as we all know the Republicans are done with that and God will lead us to a land of milk and honey!
HAHA! Alright then Bosslimo. Hit me up with a valid link...
Ron Paul is the first Republican I've ever wanted to vote for. I was so glad to see him come in only 4% behind Romney and Santorum. I hope the division between those two will let Paul rise to the top. If he doesn't win, I'll have to vote for Obama. Paul in 2012!
Forget it Non-Sheeple, people like Bosslimo just pull statements out of their butts hoping someone will believe them. The sad truth is he is a "sheeple" and believes what ever he is told by the lame stream media. Which sadly to say also includes Fox News, at one time at least a chance to hear the other side, has now joined hands with the corporate-bank controlled media in passing disinformation about the ONLY candidate that is honest.
Bosslimo - if you have the nerve I agree with Non-Sheeple let's see the PROOF of what you claim about Ron Paul. I have been following the record of Dr. Paul since the early 90's and NEVER, no where has he ever said anything about repealing any amendments.
The closest to that he has ever come was in his belief that the 14th amendment be interpreted as it was INTENDED and that was in fact to give children of African descent that were born here of slave parents complete U.S. citizenship. Unlike today where ILLEGAL aliens sneaking across our border just to give birthe here and usurping OUR tax money through welfare programs NOT intended for that purpose.
But I guess from the B.S. and misrepresentations I have read on this board I shouldn't expect any of you Obama sheeple to bother to really research anything.
@Mr R:
Hello. I have studied every form of slavery from every corner of the globe and am well versed in the subject. Slaves who have served other nationalities against their will did not lose their essence sir, and that is the problem with slavery which occurred in the US. Even the children of the Gaháe, (you call them Indians), were allowed to keep their language, their culture, and are still indigenous to this region. Black people have no heritage of their own, it was stolen from them and cannot be replaced, ever! So my anger is correctly placed at the feet of those who took my identity. It is one thing to sell a person, it is another entirely to take what makes them a unique people on this earth. Racism is still very much alive in America and if you wish to be racist then I will attack that ideology for as long as I live because the white race enslaved us on one side and then blame us on the other side for being non-productive! That is bullsh!t! And if slavery is so wonderful why didn't you enslave your own goddamn people.
@joy577111:
You know nothing! If I put a gun to your head and tell you to bring your people to me so I can chain them; you would do as I say or you would die!!! The slavers first captured the families of the men they used to then capture their own brethren. They killed several women and children to show the tribesmen that they meant business and would kill them all if need be. Those who rounded up their own people to be enslaved, HAD NO CHOICE! You cannot study history because the only history you know is what your own race tells you with a favorable slant!
The Republicans lost the White House to a black man and I am sick and damn tired of everybody turning on Obama without giving him the full opportunity to exercise his programs and ideas! Stop whining about taking the White House back, as though it went somewhere, and I will stop whining about racism! Barack Obama is the only president in the history of the US to have his citizenship attacked as a sitting president. No other president has been ordered to produce his college transcripts! So don't even try to tell me who to be angry with or tell me what subject I can be interested in. Its all politics and racism is at center stage in the Obama administration! The GOP brand objects to the people's choice for president and they haven't stopped crying since he took office. You're sick of hearing about racism, join another race! I am sick of black people being blamed for everything that is wrong with your otherwise wonderful America. If it was a mistake to bring my people here; then it is one you will just have to live with!!! My anger is hardly misplaced!
Bosslimo
Now that was a load of crap. Paul never said he wants to abolish the amendment ending slavery. Although for that % of folks who still want to get fed, clothed and housed without the work they once had to do, one would wonder why we put up with it.
What Paul did want to change is the incorrect interpretation of the 14th amendment which was added so that the children of those brought here as slaves could be full citizens. It is used for anchor babies and has been since its inception. That needs to end with a correct intrepretation that one has to not only be born here but also born to parents who are citizens.
Of course no Obama supporter would want that since he and his party of buyers of votes with gimmies, because their push and hope is to gain more takers to their rolls by somehow getting amnesty for the 11 million (they say) illegals in our country. It is more than that and includes people from many countries and could very well and probably does include many of our enemies. Look at the fire starter in California.
What? You don't know how to Google? About 47,700,000 results (0.18 seconds)
Pick em out.
Shaking my head-2479300
I understand why you're nodding your head in disbelief.
Please tell me how it would be possible for the founding fathers to inhabit this country with so much power since their parents weren't born here, under Ron Paul's ideas of immigration.
Incorrect interpretation? I assume it was interpreted as written. Ron Paul has his own.
This country was founded on mercantilism, AA, not capitalism. In fact, the constitution is itself an anti-capitalist document.
Vote for Run Pual, vote for John Birch. That in itself should tell you about Ronny! Run Ronny Run! We need the comedy.
JC.. most of the slaves were sold into slavery by tribes they were at war with... they were "prisoners of war" and the tribal chiefs decided to make money off of people they were planning to slaughter anyway.... and please don't tell me that's "whitey's" version of history, because it is Africa's also. NOBODY stole YOUR heritage... slavery ended a VERY long time ago and if you cannot shake that slavery mentality, that is strictly your problem.... EVERY culture that has been enslaved doesn't keep their heritage... At this point our heritages are so mixed (most of us are mutts of some kind) there is no way to discern anyone's true "heritage" or "culture anymore.... You really need to deal with your anger issues so you can be a happy person... misery does NOT love company. If you think it is a mistake you are here, feel free to get a passport and find your "heritage", but don't pretend you speak for african americans (hate that term..... you realize Charlize Theron is a true African American) everywhere because you don't. and while bringing Africans here THROUGH slavery may have been a mistake, your being here now IS NOT!!! unless YOU choose to believe that!
@JC, I understand you are versed in the knowledge of which you speak, however I wonder who "my people" are that you refer to. I know that "my" people, from a heritage (pedigree) standpoint, have been enslaved several times. "We" still are constantly persecuted, attacked, degraded, and have been given over to complete destruction of our civilization, numerous times. By our "OWN" kind, and every other kind. Somehow, that heritage, that hope, that faith, and that belief has survived. Once again, I ask that you focus your anger, and energy on the current date, letting go of the past, and helping out by starting here. We can debate back and forth, which of our ancestors were treated worse, forever, pulling historical documents out, showing this and that. Instead I prefer, to help in other ways, One such starting point is here .
www.freetheslaves.net/Page.aspx?pid=183
They do not focus only on the sex slaves, but the forced slaves from the civil wars. Including those working in the Diamond Mines, farms, ranches, and other locations.
Well It's The "establishment" pick(Mr. Romney to a slightly lesser degree Mr Gingrich) vs the anti-status quo pick (Mr. Paul) vs the evangelical pick (Mr. Santorum, to a lesser degree Mr. Perry and Mrs. Bachmann as well) In 6 mintues the caucases begin..............
The US was established upon the Constitution. I will never consider socialist nanny-state policies to be the establishment in the United States. The entire problem with a two-party system is the same as black and white ideology. The two parties or ideologies naturally assume extreme opposite positions and as a result, there is a constant battle. A two-party system is mutually assured destruction of any progress.
I'd be more confident of the future for this country if I believed whoever got elected when he swore to uphold the constitution meant all ten amendments of the bill of rights not just the ones that fit his ideology.
Blahblah, the constitution was written TO CREATE this gridlock. It was designed to make it hard to pass things. That's the whole point of the separation of powers. It's working as intended, even if it's not working as we'd all prefer.
I think what boggles my mind more than any Romney-Paul-Nitgrinch is damn Santorium... Santorium?? Really?? He's the twin brother of Jim DeMint here in SC, another holier-than-thou who feels being President will surely give him the right to do away with prochoice or anything else he does not like. It won't happen in our lifetime... not in my niece's lifetime either.... Santorium got laughed at in PA and headed for "higher" ground... Yeah, like he's a viable candidate... He was in over his head in the Senate.. The white house??? Really... I mean, really???
A real clown gallery, eh!
Toasty McGrath
Good for you Girl, you tell them!
Toasty is right! This is exactly what the founders envisioned when ruling power swung to far to one side.
If you all remember those that won in 2010 "Tea Party" ran on a platform of stopping the "Liberal" agenda.
Unfortunately the establishment republicans the "Neo-Conservatives" decided to use that as a springboard in a war with the president and claimed they would make him a one term wonder, all they succeeded in doing was make the war even hotter.
It's good that the absolute majority enjoyed for two years is over, but declaring war was stupid.
One Vote up for telling it like it is Toasty!
Do I have to leave the VINE if I Agree with Toasty?
..Toasty...are you mildly retarded?....
Toasty is correct in his assessment. Why attack his mental capacity?
Hehe, I'm a guy, actually. I always assumed the nickname Toasty sounded masculine enough to portray that.
I'm offended at all the references made comparing the GOP contenders to clowns! I'm a clown and I have more sincerety in my little finger than any of the GOP contenders, except Ron Paul who I believe is a real clown.
STOP Offending clowns!
i like what master bob had to say ..ron paul or obama would be ok.
Smart move there. One's an extremely fiscal progressive and the other an extremely fiscal conservative. They aren't too far apart on the foreign policy thing. But doueto extreme opposite position, I can see why you'd vote one or the other!! NOT!! You are the reason we're in trouble this very minute with this marxist in the white house. Because you have no idea what you're voting for!!!
Fights, YOU are more part of the problem than you apparently realize. There is no Marxist in the White House. You have been carried away by the Fox wind.... and it stinks!
Calling Obama a "Marxist", shows you don't have a clue.
I bet you call him a Kenyan, Muslim, and/or communist as well, don't you?
Ignorance isn't bliss, it's just ignorance.
Keep on with the rhetoric and baseless accusations. Most of us can see right thru them.
hear, hear!
If Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination (probably won't)and decides to run Independent.I will vote for him either way. However if he doesn't,I will vote for ANYONE outside of the two party system!Let not forget that Santorum's own nephew said,
"If you want another big-government politician who supports the status quo to run our country, you should vote for my uncle, Rick Santorum," wrote Garver, a student at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown
His own family wouldn't vote for him!LMAO!!!!!
Ron Paul to win. Obama to block.
Ron Paul to win, temporary comedian of the year.
Iowa gets to pick who is going to be the leading GOP Clown in their traveling GOP "Clown Show." There is "Romulian Romney" who is a massive flip flopper, and has very close friends on Wall Street. Then there is "Nutty Newt" who has violated most ethical laws in Congress. The "Social Sadist" of the Tea Beggers is still poltically stumbling and spewing around Iowa. That is the one and only "Scary Perry." The Cognitive Problems of "Bitchy Bachmann" are still an issue. Now we have the "Crazy Conservative Crap" of "Sanitarium Santorum" who is very intolerant of others. Iowa is the first State to nominate a GOP Clown! How is Iowa going to pick their favorite GOP Clown?? Which Clown juggles the truth the most. Which GOP Clown is the most support by the Koch Brothers?? Which GOP Clown is the most against Social Security? Which GOP Clown wants to extend the Bush Tax Cuts?? Which GOP Clown is against the Civi Rights Act of 1964? Which GOP Clown is the most intolerant of others based on their race, religion, or their cultural differences. Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! The party of NO has got to go!!
So you agree to have Presidents continue to make more money than most people who can barely get by? This same culture that influences Greed and Corruption?
Obviously you were not born here and 2. you are extremely narrow minded. Good luck, traitor!
Ya, all this and we don't even want to START talking about the Democrats!! Ha?
Uh Lindsay I think you took Eddie's post literally. He was commemorating Paul not denegrating him via sarcasm towards the others who are against Paul.
Right exactly Commonsense. I thought everyone would realize with the ":)" at the end. It's extremely irritating to see the endless " unelectable, kooky, fringe" BS comments all over the net. But the online coverage of Ron Paul make him look godlike compared to the print media. Either he's totally ignored or they find some horrible, possible airbrushed picture of him and they say how "out of the mainstream he is" I really hope the good Dr. wins or gets a close second. I'm not holding out too much hope though, the average American is functionally illiterate IMO.
Hear hear eddie. I have said many times that the delegates shouldnt be the only qualifying people in the race. We as a country should take an IQ test of the common wingding allowed to vote. Now that would be a circus to watch.
Finally! The true voice of reason!
just litsening to you brainwashed fools amazes me. i can't stand that fool on the top saying that going to iraq and afghanstan protected us from anything. lets state some facts, we put saddam hussien in power, osama bin laden was part of the cia. if u dont believe that do your reasearch you narrow minded idoits. who ever believes in this 2 party dictatorship reps and demos is also very foolish and most not have the respect or smarts to understand that our founding fathers george washington in particular said the death of this country would not come from a outside force but from withen when 2 party's take over the government. and also didnt osama have some diesase and was suppose to die 8 years ago? along with the cia admitting faking some of the video, just saying if you believe the bin laden fairy tell and watch mainstream media like its actaully accurate information then its a sad day indeed and 9/11 psh, im not going to say the government did it but it sounds more likley then a man in a cave defeating a multi billion dollar air defense. I mean the government wont even give a full story and many of the witnesses died or were tried not in the public eye. i mean jeez you ignrotant basterds. but lets say 911 was true and osama did some how do it, i dont blame him as bad as it sounds i mourn the innocent lives that died but hell america should get the hell out of the middle east buisness talk about terriosts we the biggest ones, how would you feel if iraq or some country put fortress in your country, you'd be mad too. forgive me if i dont trade patritoism for humanism
@fat manerbaner - If you are going to try and SOUND like you are intelligent, PLEASE learn how to spell, punctuate, and capitalize. You come off like a COMPLETE idiot!!
Nice alliteration work "Progressive" LOL! And I noticed you've copied your little diddy again at the end of your post. You marginalize yourself with each passing progressive post--hey look! I did it too! Hey, hey, ho, ho, progressive pothead has to go! I did it again!!! Wow, I feel so clever now. I think I'll start making up stuff now to really sound "progressive."
Yeah, Ron and Lindsay, we'd all like to go back to "the good old days", of the late 1800s ( and early1900s). Back to weak government, no regulations, and neglidgeable taxes. When "job creators" routinely added arsenic to the meat you fed your family (to make rotten meat look still good), added water to the gas you put in your car (hey, water's cheaper than gas), when patent medicine dealers took your money for worthless (often deadly) medicines, when children of 7 years old worked in factories, when you and I would have worked 12-14 hour work days, 7 days a week, for pennies an hour (til the day before we died), When there were NO "PAID HOLIDAYS", "WEEKENDS" OFF, OR "PAID VACATIONS"!! It was a time when manufacturers dumped toxic waste anywhere they felt like it, pumped millions of tons of sulfuric acid, soot, etc. up the smokestack, and routinely dumped tons of toxic chemicals into water supplies that we all had to drink from. The Conservative Republicans, and the Libertarians, are itching to take us all back to those "good old days", when it was you and me (as lonely individuals trying to live in a land of giant corporations) all on our own. Yep, "those were the days", you couldn't drink the water, and you couldn't breath the air, and we died at age 47 years old, on average. That is what Ron Paul, and his ilk want for you.
Some of us never learn!
@ big ed, isnt that what a lot of the corporations are outsourcing to other countries now? Low pay jobs, 12 hour days, 6 day work weeks (they take their religious days off seriously), and were getting lead paint toys, tainted feed for pets, re-calls on baby food for killing children. 200 crates of cargo arrive, less than 10 crates leave full in return. Not that I want to see Ron Paul, but I do agree we need to take back our country and remove slick poli TICS ians out of the way.
big ed - I believe you. You will never learn.
Flip Flopper... Like obama didn't flip flop on terrorists being held, Gitmo being closed and then changing his mind, Obamacare lowering the cost of health insurance for everyone etc etc.....
The flip flop everyone states about Romney is the abortion issue. Can't someone ever admit they were wrong and change thier opinion without being deemed a flip flopper? I used to be Pro abortion until I had children... Now I find myself leaning more and more towards pro life. That doesn't mean I've flip flopped- just grown up!
For REAL CHANGE, lets bit the bullet and get someone in the office who will REALLY stand behind their words. I say Ron Paul, because the more he talks, the more they don't want him to speak, which tells me they are afraid of him. CHANGE IS GOOD, when there really is CHANGE. Obama unfortunately did not give a crap about anyone but his Chicago flunkies. And I voted for him....now I vote for PAUL.....Amen....get WASHINGTON CRONIES OUT.
Thank You! Ron is the best candidate because he tells the truth.
Jag - That's what I'm thinking, niether the left or right seem to want Ron Paul to speak, he must be telling the truth.
Jag, Gary I agree. BTW Lindsay, I agree with you too, and nice pic:)
@jag:
I can agree with certain of your points. Pres Obama failed on some of his promises; but I believe there was nothing sinister about it, just stupid and naive. He wanted desperately to unite the two parties under one leadership and then he imagined all that could be accomplished with him at the helm; he was wrong!
He gave in to the demands of a minority GOP instead of doing what the people sent him to Washington to do; fix the economy. He neglected the needs of those who voted him in and he cared too much for too long about appeasing the GOP who hates his ignorant black, guts! He pissed me off to no end! Obviously, lol. BUT, I refuse to give one man eight years to ruin a nation and the next man four years to fix ALL that the first man, screwed up! I will vote Obama with a squint and will be the first to throw rocks if he even starts to fail!
The President may have wanted to do that, his problem was he was dealing with the establishment Democrats in the Congress that saw it as an opportunity to get as much as their agenda through while they had a majority, they didn't listen to him and as a result are just as much if not more responsible for the shellacking the Tea Party gave them in 2010.
The President gave in to his own party first, long before he gave in to the republicans. If he had approached it like FDR had in '36 it would have come out much better for everyone.
Yes the President needs to grow a pair, but with campaigning on the top of his agenda now, it's too late.
Truth is folks, the dems can't wait to broadcast Ron Paul's words. They pray for his nomination. He is a misfit in this age. He wants to return to a fairy tale past that exists mainly in his imagination. The fact is that most of us who glimpsed the way they actually lived in" the good old days", when you and I would be at the mercy of the robber barons of old, would run screaming for the modern day as fast as we could. The truth is that the average person today lives a life better than almost anyone lived more than a couple generations ago.
Yep, GO RON!!!
JC Breeze, what do you mean IF Obama STARTS to fail? He's been a failure since 2008. His Stimulus program has put us into a debt that will take our greatgrandchildren to finish paying for. His Health care bill is a joke. People complain about the Republicans who are in bed with the corporations, but check out the corporations that are EXEMPT from the Obozocare plan. He's put in 2 Jobs bills that have collpased.
ANYONE but OBOZO.
actually, the House of retards/toiletpaper fillabustered everything they could which gave Obama no chance to get things done.. And if he hadn't done what he had done at the start we would have collapse financially anyway. WallStreet knew it, Too big to fail knew it, just the American people didn't know it fully. So Obamas choice was to let it all fail or bail it out. Either way he was going to get mud in his eye, anyone voted in then would have faced the choice. Then you get Republicans in the house and they decided to have their tea party with keeping any actions from happening that would have helped. I am disgusted with them all. And guess what? It doesn't matter who gets voted in cuz we still have the animosity in the congress and that isn't going away..
Neither party wants a Paul nomination!Because A:He WILL siphon votes away from Obama (independents/dems)and B:The repubs don't want a "REAL" fiscal conservative. They want a yes man!How can anyone watch ANY of the news channels and not see them ALL ignoring Paul or just slamming his every move? How can anyone not vote for a person who doesn't flip flop, votes for ALL OF OUR personal liberties, wants to give states their rights back, and votes PURELY ON THE CONSTITUTION?I voted for Obama last time around, because he was supposed to be the change we needed (key word "supposed").Now he is turning out to be worse than bush!I never thought I would be able to say that with a straight face!NDAA is a tool to suppress our freedoms, period! And I thought bush was the biggest threat to our liberties with his Patriot act.Now Obama has only upped the anty with this NDAA signing.Sad day for those who have died in the name of FREEDOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Neither party wants a Paul nomination because they need the insanity vote. With Ron Paul running independent, the GOP loses because it has more insane voters than the democrats.
Just sayin...
Good luck Ron Paul!
I really don't think any of them know exactly what the Presidents job is let alone do it
Yeap, I can't agree more since Bam-Bam Ombama has yet to figure that he is the President.
What does His Majesty have to show for??????????????????huh????
GR-007,
Whatever HER majesty spent 10 million on this year for fun...
Ron Paul absolutely understands what the president's job is and will do it.
@alim-2810059 Yes, the Anti-Semite would try legalize All drugs/Prostitution & initiate a dangerously ignorant Ostrich style foreign policy plan of sticking his head either in the sand or up his ass. I don't know what's scarier, Ron Paul's foreign & domestic policy beliefs or someone texting behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.
BloodStone, it's gotta be Ron Paul's foriegn and domestic policy beliefs. Texter can only cause one major car pile up.
5:03 on my clock here in the Great PNW!
They have started we should start hearing something within the next half hour.
I'm predicting a Dr Paul Landslide, although we probably won't know until the morning for sure. (I'm also sure that the establishment would like to keep it undercover as long as possible)
L Ron Paul is a loon. If any house has a Ron Paul sign in the front yard, the cops have probable cause to get a search warrant for the hydroponic growing operation in the basement!
Egilman: I'll give Paul this...he can get his people out when he needs them. See how it goes.
Rob in ma - Probably the secret obama/Bush police that want to stop Paul before he exposes them as brothers from another mother. Ron Paul don't care what your smokin' Vote for him and be set free!
Newday,
NBC live vote, 31k votes in Dr Paul better than 2/1!
Not gloating just pointing out that if it was an internet election.....
Still a lot of time, so far the live tweets are going down just like I predicted, too close to call, good sign for the Dr.
NBC was getting ready to call the race, Andrea Mitchell gets a tweet up that it is WAY to close to call before all the votes are counted, NBC comes back and says they can't call the race for the same reason, it's going to be a while my friends!
Just like I predicted...
Also, record turnout WAY above 119,000
Well looks like three did well, surprising Santorum looks to be the winner, Mitts gets his standard 24% for second, and Dr Paul accepting third at 22% saying see you in NH.
Newt is "Disappointed" but staying in, word is coming out that sounds like Bachman is going to quit, Nothing on Perry yet.
No clear candidate yet...... On to New Hampshire and more debates.
Santorum and Mitts in a virtual tie for first, and the good Dr. in a strong second place.
Perry just might be dropping out, Bachmann and the Grinch are going to keep this circus going on.
I think Ricky is going to find that the GOD message isn't going to work as well where he's going now. Mitts got his expected 25% nothing new there, and the DR pulling 22%! I guess that answers the electability issue. Three way race now as Dr Paul stated and only two have the resources to go the distance.
Iowa has done it's part, next up New Hampshire & South Carolina!!
Santorum is the ABM candidate of the day. Winning Iowa is a good springboard to a million dollar contract with Faux and a hate radio show but that is about it. Mitt has been chosen by your masters as the candidate. This is just a little theater to make the sheep believe that the flock is going where they chose to go. baaahh.
Fo home ron Paul. Jump out of the sandbox and quit tainting it. You cam in 3rd...GO HOME NOW. WE DON'T WANT YOU.
Hey kevin be prepared Ron Paul will be campaining in your state before its all said and done. Have a great day.
Better watch for Obama in 2012,
his chances to win are great because he has a secret army of followers besides the Occupiers. it is that a win for him will come from voters from the 57 States he said we are...hum-hum!
Secret army? Oh, is that who Obama was referring to, when he said "Take off your bed slippers and put on your marching boots?" I was wondering what type of people would respond to that Command.
Yah, he has an independent like me who will vote for Obama because I am appalled by the 8, I mean 7, I mean 6 Republican candidates and millions like ME.
I don't know what happens once they get elected, but it seems like they do not keep their campaign promises. I am getting worn out from voting and expecting them to keep their word, and they haven't. Who can you trust (besides God)??? Which one of these people can stand up to the pressure from the congress and tell them to take a hike? Which one can stand up to the crooked as a dogs hind leggers, and do what he knows is the right thing to do? (For our country) Who really loves this country with all of his heart?? Anyone of the above?
Thats exactly why I am voting Ron Paul. In all his decades of governmental service he has not wavered or flip flopped once in his steadfast path. Agree or disagree with the man all you want he is the only man i have seen in government of late who has integrity. That is a trait american government has needed for decades.
gingersnaps your mom read you fairy tales and forgot to tell you they weren't real right. You're still looking for Prince Charming on a white horse. Good luck
It's gotten so bad, you can't even trust God. I mean look at Bachman and Perry who God said should run.
Your voting for Ron Paul so you can smoke dope, just say it.
What I do not understand is how it is more ethical to take taxes out of an autoworkers paycheck than it is to tax a drug dealers profit off illegal drugs.
Good vote for the old man based on that, if elected, his 70 something old body won't be able to take the rigors, who will be vice-president?
Romney was setting up his teleprompter for his speech.
Saw it on CNN. Wow, a speech from a teleprompter!
What say you GOP?
Saw him a few weeks ago give a speech from a teleprompter, too.
As Romney reads off of teleprompter "Ladies and gentlemen, uhhhhhhhhh"
Lindsay, with your name and your photo, I'd have to say I see a person trying to be something they're not! Despite your cry for help, would you please consider that "winging it" at this stage is probably not the smartest approach? If you're suggesting he can't think on his feet, try to look at his track record. Oh and when you say Romney is just a money-grubber, guess how much money he took for fixing the Winter Olympics? One dollar. How much did he draw as salary for his four year term as Governor? Same. Romney isn't in this to make money, he sees how much trouble our country is in and wants to fix it. Ron Paul has had a lifetime of politics and hasn't fixed a thing!
ahhhhh don't they all have teleprompters? If they don't they should. Oh yeah maybe that governor from Texas didn't have one. What was his name?
serenty, I think his name was OOPS!
RON PAUL is gonna save US and the world for that fact
SAVE THE WORLD. Yea if he gets on a Greenpeace boat. Go home Ron Paul, we are sick of you. YOU LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ron Paul will save us, just like John Birch saved us. Join the John Birch Society and help change the USA!
LMAO
Any chance that we could add some Disney characters.....that would make it really interesting.
Be the first! Dumbo?
Nice rack, Lindsay!
Are all the people in Iowa backward right wing religious nuts ? There has to be some normal people in that state. Well maybe not considering their track record. Glad I don't live in that hick state.
Since the democrats aren't running a caucus all you are hearing is from the republicans. The democrats are home in front of a cozy fire watching the circus too.
@john-3041823--You obviously don't know anything about the "hicks" in Iowa who plant their crops by GPS and know more about world markets than you can imagine. Iowa is a great place to raise a family. A great place in the heartland where hard work and relationships still mater. Iowa republicans may not be as liberal as the rest of the country, but you really show your lack of understanding by berating Iowans as hicks. Do you even personally know anyone from Iowa?
hick state?? Hmmm do you know anything about Iowa. 98% of the adults can read and write above a 9th grade level--the highest in the nation. They are number 1 in corn, hog, soybean production. Which if you look at your dinner table most of the food comes from there. They produce 1/3 of the world's food. Ok, still not enough, They produce Amana and Maytag Des Moines has most of the insurance companies are headquartered. Colleges anyone? One of the best schools for medical training Iowa University, one of the best schools for Ag, Engineering, and science Iowa State. And you better thank your computer gods for Iowa State because Iowa state is where the first computer was born google the ABC computer if you don't believe that. Next time you are on your computer, file an insurance claim, watch your wife put on make up or eat you better thank Iowa.
im confused. what is caucus?? and how is it done to us? why does Michelle get to participate? i thought you had to be a guy to have one to use on us? im really confused.........
I'll say
you too? wow
Caucus means something like meeting of the tribe. All your local registered republicans meet for a noisy gathering to pick the candidate they dislike least.
What happens if its a three-way tie ? ... are Rove & Cheney waiting at the vote-count window in some battlefield district ready to bang on the windows to stop the count ?
Wait, who are they rooting for ?
LOL.
If you weren't so stupid ,we'd know what you were talking about. Also do you always vote for yourself? How childish.
Find out why many people who watch this video change their vote
http://tekgnosis.typepad.com/tekgnosis/2012/01/ron-paul-many-people-who-watch-this-whole-video-change-their-vote.html
great video. Love Ron
Go Ron Paul! One Nation Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and justice for all!
Not trying to be rude, but RP has a cult, a following....but not a campaign. He wont be nominated, let alone elected. I don't mean to burst your bubble guys; you're positive activism is great to see. It is awesome, really...but not founded in reality.
I haven't voted for Paul...but maybe Rand will keep the candle glowing for the team, for many years too. Best of luck in 2012 and beyond.
Rand "Racial discrimination is fine with me" Paul? Dream on.
Hey Meeee - The reality of America is 'crisis'. The reality of America is 'treading water'. The reality of America is 'a nightmare for millions of Americans' and more on the way. The present reality can be changed, but the reality is that there is no real change in the pipeline. The only America founded in a sustainable reality worth having is the American platform of Ron Paul. Name callers, labelers, party pawns, haters, hypocrites, skeptics, are all in the pipeline. Ron Paul is above the fray because the foundational law of the country is above the fray. Ron Paul doesn't speak ill of them, he speaks ill of policy and process promoted in the wrong way and in disingenuous manner. Reality is founded in what you can resurrect from the mess that we're in. Reality is leadership that puts the People in charge again. Vote for a Constitutional American Reality. Vote Ron Paul 2012!
Hey alim, get a clue. America is coming back from the brink. I'll be $10,000 on that. LOL
Romney was in Massachusetts only long enough to become Governor for one term. Long enough to screw up health care and fumble the ball for the GOP. His healthcare plan is as socialist as it gets in the USA. The GOP had a decent run of Governors in the blue state of Massachusetts, until Romney came in. He stole it from a faltering female GOP, who was probably over her head in being a mom while trying to be Governor. He made it so bad for the GOP in Massachusetts that his Lt. Governor, Healy, lost to Democrat Deval Patrick. He's the guy that can beat Obama? After the country takes a real look at the ineptness of the "Tea Party" movement, I don't think any GOP candidate will bode well.
When are you going to figure out that "socialist" is just a label to put down the other side? After all, public schools are socialist, aren't they? And so are fire departments. And roads. And the FDA. Anything publicly funded. What is the difference between those programs and the republican health care in Mass.? You conservatives just need to move yourselves way right in order to be against Obama. What a bunch of fools. And your remark about the woman couldn't do her job because she was a mom--jeez.
Stickerbush, you're are the moron here. There is a VAST difference between socialism and public funding. Try getting an education before you write. It's embarrassing how ignorant you are. You are a prime example of a populous (and electorate!) that knows nothing about American history, political science, civics, economics or the Constitution. It'd down right scary. Try reading something besides the liberal media Kool-aid.
So Larry, as educated as you must be, I assume you would never call Obama a socialist, right? You know, since he's not, nor are his policies socialist.
TashaS it seems you don't understand what socialism is. Obamacare is socialist by it's very nature. It allows health care companies to use the government to dictate the types of plans allowed preventing any competition in the free market. No start up health care companies will be formed in the future and they've struggled for years as it is. You will be FORCED to buy a product regardless of it's terms and usefulness to you. Everyone is required by Force, that's socialism. You have no individual choice, that's freedom, and we've lost it. Obama is also imperialist just as Bush was. He thinks we should have military bases in 130 countries around the world, tax our own people so we can bribe dictators, bomb countries that have never attacked us and don't even have the capability to do so, and hire mercenaries with our taxdollars. He feels the U.S. should lock up their own citizens without trial, spy on citizens, and search and seize property without a warrant. This is all a repeal of the 4th amendment. This is why Obama is socialist, Bush was socialist as well, but he was mainly more imperialist and facist. The Republican party however is too dumb to elect the one politician we had that followed the law (Ron Paul). Instead they whine about Obama, but will inevitably elect someone exactly like him (Romney). So Republicans have no right to complain, because their own stupidity is destroying this country right along with the Democrats.
And Keith, you too are socialist. You use our roads, you have social security, you'll get medicare, just like Ayn Rand. If there's a fire in your house our socialist fire department will come when you call, you get robbed or assaulted our socialist police will answer your call. Yes, we are all socialist. So what's the point in calling our president socialist? You guys sick or what? Oh yeah, you can go to our socialist hospitals for emergency care and if you can't pay, the rest of us socialists will pay for you.
Go Ron Paul. We believe.
Yes Ron Paul - go back to where you came from!! You are as goofy as your son. What a clucked up family!
I suppose Wagonmaster you think Ron Paul should be more like the family currently residing in our Whitehouse. He doesn't qualify since he isn't trying to push socialist medicine down our throats and he doesn't have any relatives here illegally.
No, Paul just believes the GOVT is better at making our personal choices than us as individuals. No thanks, I'm more than capable of doing that for myself. See his website - it said he wants to shrink the fed govt, but replace it by growing the states to eat up our rights.
Run Paul Run. Pull the wacko vote from the real GOP nominee.
will the results be in tonight? or tomorrow? ...thinking about rather I should stay up or not
tonight at about 10 30 pm et
Results are in, GOP loses!
